- 0:19Speaker 1: We're glad you could join us in this edition. On
- 0:22Speaker 1: tonight's webcast, we're going to be continuing in our series
- 0:27Speaker 1: entitled For Believers Only.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Very straight talk on this great salvation.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Amen. We're glad you could join us. We pray that
- 0:36Speaker 1: your time spent here in God's word will be a
- 0:39Speaker 1: fruitful one.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Amen. If you've been with us.
- 0:43Speaker 1: At the beginning last week, we began to talk about
- 0:46Speaker 1: this great salvation and the nature of it. And we're
- 0:50Speaker 1: going to continue where we left off last time. And
- 0:52Speaker 1: time permitting, we're going to get into just why salvation
- 0:58Speaker 1: is necessary. Why is salvation necessary at all? We'll get
- 1:02Speaker 1: into some top reasons why salvation is so vital.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Amen.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So once again, sit back, grab your Bible and join
- 1:11Speaker 1: us if you can, as we get into the word
- 1:15Speaker 1: of God. We do ask that if you are watching
- 1:17Speaker 1: right now over social media, we're watching, we're right now
- 1:20Speaker 1: live over Facebook times two, times two means it's on
- 1:23Speaker 1: my personal page and it's on my ministry page. That's
- 1:26Speaker 1: where ministries and we are also streaming live on Facebook.
- 1:30Speaker 1: If you're watching on YouTube, If you're watching us on
- 1:33Speaker 1: Facebook now, we ask that you share this page out
- 1:35Speaker 1: that others also may be blessed.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Amen. That is something that we always, uh, try to
- 1:41Speaker 2: make sure that we do. Amen.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So once again, thank you so much. Uh, thank you
- 1:46Speaker 1: so much for joining us, uh, in this edition. God
- 1:49Speaker 1: bless you, Dana. God bless you. Thank you for, for
- 1:52Speaker 1: joining us here, uh, at this time.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Amen. Alrighty.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're going to pray and we're going to get right into, uh,
- 1:59Speaker 1: this study. We believe this study is, uh, It's necessary,
- 2:02Speaker 1: it's vital, and we can only do what we believe
- 2:06Speaker 1: the Lord has given us to do. Let me just
- 2:08Speaker 1: say this before, even before I pray. Listen, I want
- 2:12Speaker 1: to make sure that we understand that we don't do
- 2:16Speaker 1: these studies.
- 2:17Speaker 2: To somehow.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Prove anything concerning ourselves because we, I am nothing.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I am nothing.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Meaning I'm not saying that I have a very down
- 2:39Speaker 1: opinion of myself.
- 2:40Speaker 2: That's not what I'm saying. When it comes to.
- 2:44Speaker 1: The Word of God, I simply have a passion for
- 2:48Speaker 1: the Word of God, and I'm only doing what I
- 2:52Speaker 1: believe the Lord has given me to do. And sometimes, listen,
- 2:56Speaker 1: sometimes we will dig into the Greek. the original languages
- 3:03Speaker 1: from time to time, not all the time, but from
- 3:05Speaker 1: time to time.
- 3:06Speaker 2: We do that.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We do that because we believe that it is vital,
- 3:09Speaker 1: that it is necessary to sometimes to get to, so
- 3:13Speaker 1: that we can have a greater understanding and a greater
- 3:16Speaker 1: appreciation for what the Lord is trying to tell us
- 3:20Speaker 1: when we go deep into the original languages.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Amen.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And once again, we don't do it all the time. And, and,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and I don't go into the Greek language. even as
- 3:33Speaker 1: much as I either should or that I would like
- 3:36Speaker 1: to for the simple reason that I know that people
- 3:42Speaker 1: may get turned off by it. And I shouldn't worry
- 3:45Speaker 1: about what people think. And in this particular set of lessons,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to be worrying about what people think.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And if something needs to be explained better by getting
- 3:58Speaker 1: into the original language, that's what we're going to do. Amen.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So once again, it's necessary.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm not asking everybody else to do it, but it's
- 4:06Speaker 1: necessary to understand, once again, to get a broader and
- 4:10Speaker 1: a better appreciation for what the Lord is telling us.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Amen. Anyway, let's pray and we'll get right into this study.
- 4:16Speaker 2: We bless you, Lord. We thank you, Lord.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Once again, you've given us another opportunity, Lord, to open
- 4:20Speaker 1: up your word. Lord, where would we be without you? Really, Lord,
- 4:25Speaker 1: where would we be without you, Lord? We look to
- 4:27Speaker 1: you because you are the author. You are the finisher
- 4:29Speaker 1: of our faith. Lord, you saved us. You redeemed us.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You set us free. And so, Lord, we can only
- 4:36Speaker 1: do as we are asked to do by you. Lord,
- 4:41Speaker 1: we thank you for all that you've done for us.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And we look forward to you doing even more. Lord,
- 4:45Speaker 1: so we pray for the next several minutes, Lord, that
- 4:47Speaker 1: you will be with us. Lord, you'll be the teacher
- 4:50Speaker 1: as we get into your holy word, even tonight, Lord Jesus. Lord,
- 4:54Speaker 1: we don't want to do anything that would be considered violent.
- 4:56Speaker 1: We don't want to say anything averse to your word. Lord,
- 4:59Speaker 1: we want to make sure that we are in alignment
- 5:01Speaker 1: with you and with your spirit. So, Lord, have your way.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Bless us together right now. We thank you for all
- 5:05Speaker 1: things in Jesus' name. Amen and amen.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Well, hallelujah. Hallelujah. All right, God is good. God is good.
- 5:13Speaker 2: God is very good, actually. And I know you know that.
- 5:18Speaker 2: All righty. Last time we ended last.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Week right here. where we were talking about three specific
- 5:33Speaker 1: things that are explicitly, that do explicitly characterize this great salvation.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And we said that first, it's the divine source, the
- 5:52Speaker 1: divine source of this great salvation, obviously. And we went
- 5:55Speaker 1: into Psalm 3, 8 once again, Salvation belongs to the Lord.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Thy blessing is upon thy people, Selah. The source, the
- 6:05Speaker 1: source of this great salvation is God.
- 6:09Speaker 2: God. Salvation begins and ends and proceeds in God. Amen.
- 6:16Speaker 2: That is one thing that we need to know.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Secondly, this great salvation is characterized by its all-encompassing scope.
- 6:27Speaker 1: the scope of this great salvation. It's for this salvation,
- 6:32Speaker 1: this great salvation. And I want to keep calling it
- 6:34Speaker 1: this great salvation because that's what this series is pretty
- 6:38Speaker 1: much all about. This great salvation is not for a
- 6:44Speaker 1: few people, okay?
- 6:46Speaker 2: It's not for a few people. It's for everyone. It's
- 6:49Speaker 2: for God so loved.
- 6:50Speaker 1: The world that he gave his only begotten son that
- 6:53Speaker 1: whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That whosoever, anyone, anyone, I soundly and roundly reject the
- 7:06Speaker 1: teaching promoted that says that Jesus only died for those
- 7:13Speaker 1: who would get saved.
- 7:14Speaker 2: That is not true.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And we're going to be getting into that in a
- 7:21Speaker 1: few weeks. We're going to be talking about the, the
- 7:26Speaker 1: tulip and that L, and if you don't understand what
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm talking about, it'll become clear in a few weeks,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but limited atonement, that Jesus only died for certain people.
- 7:39Speaker 1: If you're saved, he died for you. If someone dies unsaved,
- 7:43Speaker 1: then Jesus didn't die for them. Because the thinking is
- 7:46Speaker 1: that if Jesus died for the world, then the whole
- 7:49Speaker 1: world should be saved. But Jesus died for the world
- 7:53Speaker 1: That verse is interpreted by those who believe this.
- 7:56Speaker 2: This verse is interpreted by them. For God so loved
- 7:59Speaker 2: the world that would get saved.
- 8:02Speaker 1: That whosoever. Those whosoever are those who would believe. This
- 8:08Speaker 1: is error.
- 8:10Speaker 2: This is error. Jesus died for the entirety of the world.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that everyone in the world is
- 8:19Speaker 1: going to be saved.
- 8:21Speaker 2: No.
- 8:21Speaker 1: No. Because everyone in the world will not believe. It's
- 8:25Speaker 1: our desire that everyone believes, but we know that everyone
- 8:27Speaker 1: is not going to believe.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Amen.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So it's all encompassing scope. It's great salvation. Finally, we
- 8:36Speaker 1: talked about the central focus, the central focus of this
- 8:39Speaker 1: great salvation. And once again, we went to first Corinthians
- 8:43Speaker 1: chapter three and verse number 11 for other foundation can
- 8:47Speaker 1: no man lay than that is.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Laid, which is.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ. He is the foundation.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He is the central focus of this great salvation. Not
- 8:59Speaker 1: anything else. Not anyone else. Not a denomination. We try
- 9:06Speaker 1: to move away from having such a denominational focus. And
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'm not speaking entirely against denominations.
- 9:20Speaker 2: They have their place. But we do not put our
- 9:24Speaker 2: faith in our denomination.
- 9:26Speaker 1: We put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I think that should be quite, quite obvious.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Amen.
- 9:32Speaker 2: All righty. Now, as we were talking.
- 9:37Speaker 1: About this great salvation last time, let's now move on
- 9:43Speaker 1: to how do we prevent? How do we avoid.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Neglecting? this great salvation.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Once again, our foundational scripture is found in Hebrews 2
- 9:56Speaker 1: and verse number 3. How shall we escape if we
- 10:00Speaker 1: neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to
- 10:04Speaker 1: be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us
- 10:06Speaker 1: by them that heard him? How can we prevent neglecting
- 10:12Speaker 1: this salvation? We don't want to do that. We want
- 10:15Speaker 1: to neglect it. We want to avoid it. So how
- 10:18Speaker 1: do we do it? First of all, We need to
- 10:21Speaker 1: pay attention. We need to pay attention to our focus. Okay,
- 10:27Speaker 1: we just talked about Jesus Christ is the central focus
- 10:31Speaker 1: of this great salvation. So we need to pay attention
- 10:34Speaker 1: to our focus. We need to make sure that our
- 10:37Speaker 1: eyes do not shift, that what we do does not
- 10:42Speaker 1: come of the primary focus of our great salvation. This
- 10:47Speaker 1: great salvation that we have been given, that has been
- 10:49Speaker 1: entrusted to us, We must make sure that we don't
- 10:52Speaker 1: shift our focus to our works, the things that we do.
- 10:57Speaker 2: That would be a mistake.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It says here, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher
- 11:03Speaker 1: of our faith, who for the joy that was set
- 11:07Speaker 1: before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is
- 11:12Speaker 1: set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
- 11:16Speaker 1: That's from Hebrews chapter 12 and verse number two. So
- 11:19Speaker 1: we need to pay attention.
- 11:21Speaker 2: To our focus.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You want to avoid neglecting this great salvation? Pay attention
- 11:27Speaker 1: to your focus.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Amen?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Number two, first and foremost, once again, Christ needs to
- 11:34Speaker 1: be that center of our lives. Secondly, we need to
- 11:39Speaker 1: pay attention to our fellowship. We need to pay attention
- 11:44Speaker 1: to our fellowship. Look what it says in 1 John 1.8.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It says, if we say, if we say, that if
- 11:53Speaker 1: we say that we have fellowship with him and walk
- 11:57Speaker 1: in darkness, and walk in darkness, scripture says that we lie.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We lie.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And do not the truth. We must pay attention to
- 12:09Speaker 1: our fellowship. And one way that we pay attention to
- 12:14Speaker 1: our fellowship is to make sure that our relationship with
- 12:19Speaker 1: one another is right. Because if our relationship with one
- 12:24Speaker 1: another is not right, then most definitely our relationship with
- 12:30Speaker 1: the Lord will not be all right.
- 12:32Speaker 2: So we need to pay attention to our fellowship. Amen.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Sin, what sin does, what sin does, unless it is,
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know, what What accumulated, let me put it this way.
- 12:45Speaker 1: When accumulated, when sin is accumulated in our lives, it
- 12:49Speaker 1: breaks our fellowship with God. It breaks accumulated sin. Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 1: you sin, Lord, forgive me. You know, we don't wait.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Here's what we don't do. We don't wait until the
- 13:02Speaker 1: end of the day. We don't wait till Sunday morning
- 13:05Speaker 1: to say, Lord, forgive me for all my sins for
- 13:06Speaker 1: this week. And like I said, you don't even have
- 13:09Speaker 1: to wait until you get home at night before you
- 13:11Speaker 1: go to bed to say, Lord, forgive me for everything
- 13:12Speaker 1: I did today. If you recognize sin in your life
- 13:16Speaker 1: during the day, if the Holy Spirit convicts you of
- 13:20Speaker 1: something during the day, Lord, forgive me, right on the spot.
- 13:25Speaker 2: You don't have to have a prayer meeting. Lord, cleanse me,
- 13:28Speaker 2: forgive me. And he is there.
- 13:31Speaker 1: He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
- 13:34Speaker 1: and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And so you
- 13:36Speaker 1: want to make sure that you stay in fellowship with
- 13:40Speaker 1: the Lord, okay? When fellowship is broken, a backslidden condition
- 13:48Speaker 1: is very possible, okay?
- 13:49Speaker 2: You will begin to slide.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You will begin to fade away, okay?
- 13:54Speaker 2: And you don't want that.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So keep fellowship with the Lord, but remember to keep
- 13:59Speaker 1: fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ too, okay?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Can we all get along? We need to all get along, okay?
- 14:06Speaker 1: We need to all get along. Next, what this means
- 14:12Speaker 1: is is that we need to walk in the light.
- 14:14Speaker 1: That is, walk in truth. The truth.
- 14:18Speaker 2: The truth.
- 14:19Speaker 1: We need to walk in that truth. Man, we need
- 14:23Speaker 1: to pay attention to our faith. How important is this?
- 14:28Speaker 1: We need to pay attention to our faith. Galatians chapter
- 14:32Speaker 1: 2 and verse number 20. It doesn't say that here,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but that's Galatians 2 and 20. I am crucified with Christ.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Nevertheless, I live.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the
- 14:42Speaker 1: life which I now live in the flesh. I live
- 14:44Speaker 1: by the faith of the son of God who loved
- 14:47Speaker 1: me and gave himself for me. So once again, we
- 14:51Speaker 1: need to pay attention to our faith. The faith we
- 14:56Speaker 1: have is his faith, okay? The faith we have is
- 15:00Speaker 1: his faith. We need to pay attention to our faith.
- 15:04Speaker 1: And as we are walking in faith, because the Bible
- 15:07Speaker 1: says that we walk by faith and not by sight,
- 15:11Speaker 1: we need to make sure that that we don't place
- 15:14Speaker 1: our faith someplace else. We don't want to put our
- 15:18Speaker 1: faith somewhere else, someplace else where it does not belong.
- 15:22Speaker 1: As we said just a moment, a few moments ago,
- 15:24Speaker 1: we don't put our faith in our works, in the
- 15:27Speaker 1: things that we do. No, you don't put your faith
- 15:30Speaker 1: in your leader, your pastor, whoever it is that is
- 15:36Speaker 1: helping you along. We don't put our faith in individuals.
- 15:39Speaker 1: We don't put our faith in our church. In our church, no, no, no, no, no.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I fear, I fear that there are many who have
- 15:48Speaker 1: placed their faith in their particular church, in the church itself,
- 15:54Speaker 1: in the fact that they are in that particular church,
- 15:56Speaker 1: whatever church that may be. I'm afraid that that happens.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'm afraid that also that individuals unfortunately also place too much,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm trying to find the word, But I'm afraid that
- 16:13Speaker 1: sometimes believers can be guilty of placing their leaders or
- 16:18Speaker 1: their pastor on a certain pedestal. And I think that
- 16:22Speaker 1: that will work against that will work against anyone who
- 16:25Speaker 1: does that. We cannot place our faith. And I know
- 16:30Speaker 1: we will say I'm not placing my faith in them.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But once again, it can happen. It can happen.
- 16:38Speaker 2: OK, and so we.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Don't want to we won't. We want to make sure
- 16:42Speaker 1: that we don't fall into that particular trap.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Amen.
- 16:46Speaker 1: So the question becomes, where's your faith? Where's your faith?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Your faith is in that. Your faith needs to stay
- 16:54Speaker 1: in that foundation, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Amen. That's where your faith should be. Amen. We need
- 17:05Speaker 2: to pay firmness. Pay attention to our faith. firmness.
- 17:12Speaker 1: First Corinthians 15, 58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable,
- 17:18Speaker 1: always abounding in the work of the Lord. For as
- 17:21Speaker 1: much as you know that your labor is not in
- 17:23Speaker 1: vain in the Lord, be ye steadfast and unmovable. Stand
- 17:29Speaker 1: firm and let nothing move you. Pay attention to your firmness.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Be like Daniel. Be like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I
- 17:40Speaker 1: was just teaching a lesson this past Sunday on Daniel
- 17:45Speaker 1: and how he prayed when he knew this plot was
- 17:48Speaker 1: up against him. They wanted to try and trap him,
- 17:52Speaker 1: but there was no way that they could bring him down.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And those haters that were there within the kingdom, they
- 18:00Speaker 1: tried their best, but they knew that they could get
- 18:03Speaker 1: him if it was something to do with his God.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And that's the only way that they, quote, got him.
- 18:10Speaker 1: That's the only way that they were able to get him.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But he remained firm. He remained firm. After knowing, Daniel,
- 18:18Speaker 1: after knowing this plot, after knowing what could happen to
- 18:23Speaker 1: him if he went home and followed and did what
- 18:28Speaker 1: he always did, he knew what could happen. And sure enough,
- 18:31Speaker 1: he went home, he opened the windows, and he prayed
- 18:33Speaker 1: toward Jerusalem as he always did.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Scripture makes that clear.
- 18:37Speaker 1: As he did before, okay, nothing changed, and obviously those
- 18:43Speaker 1: haters were there, and they caught him, and they snitched
- 18:46Speaker 1: on him, and they told the king, and the king,
- 18:49Speaker 1: you know the story, you know the story, but God
- 18:51Speaker 1: was with him, but he remained steadfast, and he remained unmovable, Shadrach, Meshach,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and Abednego, they remained steadfast and unmovable, our God will
- 19:04Speaker 1: save us. Our God will save us. We will not
- 19:07Speaker 1: bow down. But even if he doesn't save us, we
- 19:10Speaker 1: will not bow down to this statue. They remain firm.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Pay attention to your firmness. You have this great salvation, okay?
- 19:19Speaker 1: This great salvation. Don't neglect it by losing your firmness.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Stand firm and let nothing move you. That is so important.
- 19:31Speaker 1: That is so important. No person No situation should be
- 19:37Speaker 1: able to move you out of your place.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Not one. Amen. Not one.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Alrighty, we are going to move on. We are going
- 19:48Speaker 1: to move on. to our, to part three.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Okay. This will be, this will be part three.
- 20:00Speaker 1: And here in part three, we want to start discussing
- 20:05Speaker 1: just why do we need salvation? Why do we need
- 20:11Speaker 1: this great salvation? And we've gone over just how great
- 20:18Speaker 1: it is. We pray that we have stirred it a
- 20:24Speaker 1: little bit in your spirit that you now understand, along
- 20:28Speaker 1: with last week when we got into it, just how
- 20:31Speaker 1: great this salvation is.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Now, this salvation is very comprehensive. It's very comprehensive.
- 20:37Speaker 1: And there is no way that we will know and
- 20:41Speaker 1: understand every aspect of this great salvation. He's given us much.
- 20:46Speaker 1: He's given us much knowledge. The mysteries of salvation, as
- 20:51Speaker 1: scripture puts it, we know much, much has been revealed,
- 20:54Speaker 1: but we don't know it all. We do not know
- 20:57Speaker 1: it all. And that is fine. And that is fine.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But when it comes to this great salvation, why do
- 21:04Speaker 1: we need it? Why? Why is it necessary? Well, there
- 21:09Speaker 1: are at least eight. We're going to touch on eight
- 21:12Speaker 1: of them. There are no doubt, there may be several more.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Once again, we do not promise in this study, on
- 21:23Speaker 1: very straight talk about this salvation, we cannot be completely
- 21:29Speaker 1: and absolutely comprehensive because we would be.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Here long-term, long-term.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Salvation.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Salvation.
- 21:38Speaker 1: This great salvation. First of all, when it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Comes to this great salvation, we need salvation, which should
- 21:49Speaker 2: be obvious.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But once again, it's obvious to us now. This is
- 21:54Speaker 1: obvious to us now. But let's look at it this way.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Why should the gospel be preached? That's another way to
- 22:02Speaker 1: put it. Why should the gospel be preached? Why is
- 22:06Speaker 1: the gospel so important?
- 22:09Speaker 2: Why?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Why?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Because this was us.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Everything we're going to talk about, this was us at
- 22:14Speaker 1: one time. This is who we were. And so now
- 22:18Speaker 1: we are on the inside looking out. We're now in
- 22:21Speaker 1: Christ and looking out at others who are lost, lost
- 22:27Speaker 1: in sin. And so this, once again, means that we
- 22:30Speaker 1: need to speak out. We need to tell. We need
- 22:33Speaker 1: to preach the gospel. We need to preach the gospel.
- 22:38Speaker 1: We need to be saved. Salvation is necessary because we
- 22:44Speaker 1: are absolutely lost in sin. Luke 19, 10, for the
- 22:49Speaker 1: son of man is come to seek and to save
- 22:54Speaker 1: that which was lost. And this, once again, this verse
- 22:59Speaker 1: emphasizes Jesus' mission to rescue those who are spiritually, spiritually
- 23:08Speaker 1: lost spiritually lost did it you can answer this question
- 23:12Speaker 1: on your own and i'll answer it for myself did
- 23:16Speaker 1: it seem like before christ before you were in christ
- 23:21Speaker 1: when you were before jesus let me just say that
- 23:25Speaker 1: before jesus did it seem as if did you feel
- 23:29Speaker 1: lost okay did you feel lost did you sense lostness Now,
- 23:37Speaker 1: for myself, I will say immediately that I personally did
- 23:42Speaker 1: not sense any lostness. I did not sense myself as lost.
- 23:49Speaker 1: If you've heard my story, I'm not going to go
- 23:50Speaker 1: into it. But I simply thought that I was pretty
- 23:53Speaker 1: much without sin. And I think I was probably teetering
- 24:00Speaker 1: on the banks of not being sure if there was
- 24:05Speaker 1: a God or not. wasn't an atheist, but I just
- 24:08Speaker 1: didn't know. And I really didn't care. I really didn't care. Now,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't even know how I formed these opinions because
- 24:16Speaker 1: I didn't go to church a whole lot. I went
- 24:18Speaker 1: to church on Easter. I do remember going to church
- 24:20Speaker 1: on Easter with my uncle and my aunt. We didn't
- 24:24Speaker 1: go to church in my house. So I really don't
- 24:27Speaker 1: know how I formed my opinion. But all I know
- 24:30Speaker 1: is that I thought I was a pretty good guy.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Okay. And I didn't harm, I didn't hurt anyone, so
- 24:36Speaker 2: I was okay. Sin, sinner, not me. That's what I thought.
- 24:41Speaker 1: So I did not sense myself as being lost, but nevertheless,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I definitely, I most definitely was.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Being lost, being lost.
- 24:55Speaker 1: When we talk about lost, this signifies a state where
- 25:00Speaker 1: individuals are insensitive to the truth that their actions offend
- 25:08Speaker 1: God and being unaware of their own separation from them.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And oh man, I was definitely insensitive to the truth.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I was definitely unaware that I was separated from God.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I was definitely unaware that I had offended God by
- 25:29Speaker 1: anything that I had done. I just didn't know. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: as I said, I really didn't care. I really did
- 25:35Speaker 1: not care. It never entered my mind. So being lost
- 25:40Speaker 1: is a serious thing, but this is why we need
- 25:43Speaker 1: to be saved. We need salvation. Men need, people need salvation.
- 25:51Speaker 2: It's vital, okay? This is what.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Pastor Adrian Rodgers, Pastor Adrian Rodgers made this statement concerning
- 26:03Speaker 1: Pastor Adrian Rodgers, made this statement concerning sin. He said
- 26:08Speaker 1: that sin is a moral affront against God. Therefore, God
- 26:14Speaker 1: is the one who must forgive sin. David said against
- 26:18Speaker 1: thee and thee only have I sinned. We have a
- 26:21Speaker 1: lot of psychological and theological garbage going around today where
- 26:25Speaker 1: people say everyone is supposed to be affirmed. I affirm you,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you're okay, I'm okay. We are sinners. By birth, by nature,
- 26:36Speaker 1: by choice, by practice, we have morally struck the offended
- 26:42Speaker 1: and infinitely, we have morally struck and offended an infinitely
- 26:47Speaker 1: holy God.
- 26:49Speaker 2: He must punish sin and we deserve punishment. Amen.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And we deserve punishment. That's from Pastor, the late, pastor,
- 27:05Speaker 1: Adrian Rogers, who's with the Lord now. I'm seeing a
- 27:09Speaker 1: question here from my brother, Michael Rochester. Relationship with each other,
- 27:18Speaker 1: other believers, or all people? Well, all people. I would
- 27:22Speaker 1: say all people. We need to have a proper relationship
- 27:25Speaker 1: with those with who we communicate with, okay? Whether they
- 27:29Speaker 1: are a child of God or not, but especially, but especially, and.
- 27:37Speaker 2: You can make a case for both.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I can say especially those who are of the household
- 27:41Speaker 1: of faith, those brothers and sisters in Christ. But if
- 27:43Speaker 1: you don't have a proper relationship with those who are
- 27:45Speaker 1: outside the body, you know, we need to maintain a
- 27:51Speaker 1: proper relationship. I didn't say something that's easy. Oh, just
- 27:55Speaker 1: have a good relationship. You know, nothing will ever come up.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Nothing will ever happen to try to spoil Yeah, yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 1: things will. Things will come in. Things will happen. Things
- 28:05Speaker 1: will be said. Situations will come about.
- 28:08Speaker 2: But once again, as a believer, we are to maintain
- 28:14Speaker 2: a proper relationship. If there is someone, if there is someone.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That you have been known to not get along with,
- 28:25Speaker 1: the Bible says as much as it depends or much
- 28:28Speaker 1: as it lies with you, the Bible says to be
- 28:31Speaker 1: at peace with all men, to be at peace with
- 28:35Speaker 1: all men. So how, how do I maintain with peace
- 28:39Speaker 1: with someone whom I've had a sort of a up
- 28:44Speaker 1: and down Rocky sort of fractured relationship?
- 28:47Speaker 2: How do I maintain peace with that person? Okay.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Well, We're not saying that you have to have supper,
- 28:58Speaker 1: have lunch. You have to be around them at all,
- 29:02Speaker 1: all the time. But once again, if there is something
- 29:08Speaker 1: between that person and you, and if apologies need to
- 29:14Speaker 1: be made, then they need to be made.
- 29:18Speaker 2: If it's by you. Okay. You can't control what somebody
- 29:20Speaker 2: else does. But yes, we should.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Our relationships, we need to maintain proper relationships with those
- 29:28Speaker 1: who are in Christ and those who are outside of Christ, okay?
- 29:33Speaker 1: I think that's something that needs to be done.
- 29:36Speaker 2: All righty? All right. Secondly. We need. We need to
- 29:46Speaker 2: be saved. We need to be saved. Because. We need
- 29:51Speaker 2: to be saved. Because we are under. God's wrath. Okay.
- 29:59Speaker 1: We need to be saved. because we are under God's wrath.
- 30:07Speaker 1: What does that mean? Well, the wrath of God is
- 30:11Speaker 1: not some unstable or emotional outburst from God. But once again,
- 30:17Speaker 1: it's a settled and it's God's holy, holy indignation against sin.
- 30:25Speaker 1: That's what it says in Romans 1 and 18. It says,
- 30:28Speaker 1: for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven Against
- 30:32Speaker 1: all ungodliness. And righteousness of men.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Who hold the truth. In unrighteousness. Okay. The word wrath.
- 30:43Speaker 2: You will find the word wrath in the Bible.
- 30:45Speaker 1: You will find the word anger in the Bible.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And there are two different. Two different types. Of anger.
- 30:54Speaker 2: In the Bible. Depending on the context. There's two different words.
- 30:59Speaker 1: One anger is. is an anger that is stored up
- 31:03Speaker 1: and boom, comes out. Okay, it's stored up and it
- 31:07Speaker 1: comes out. And then there's that anger that.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Is more settled.
- 31:13Speaker 1: It is more settled and it grows and it also
- 31:18Speaker 1: reveals itself. It's two different types here. When we talk
- 31:22Speaker 1: about the wrath of God is revealed, he's talking about
- 31:25Speaker 1: that wrath, which is being stored up. It's being stored
- 31:30Speaker 1: up and it's going to come out. His wrath will
- 31:34Speaker 1: be revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. It's
- 31:38Speaker 1: going to be revealed one.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Day, okay? What is the wrath of God? Okay, we
- 31:45Speaker 2: talked about holiness.
- 31:47Speaker 1: The holiness, it's the holiness of God in action.
- 31:54Speaker 2: The wrath of God.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It's the holiness of God responding to sin it's the
- 32:02Speaker 1: holiness of god avenging the offenses against him you might
- 32:10Speaker 1: say well that that's that's not that's not something that
- 32:12Speaker 1: god would do yes it's something that god uh would
- 32:15Speaker 1: do and and will do and must do because he
- 32:19Speaker 1: is a holy god here's what here's what the bible
- 32:22Speaker 1: says in the book of acts i don't have it
- 32:24Speaker 1: in front of me uh there was a time there
- 32:27Speaker 1: was a time Paul the Apostle spoke these words. He
- 32:31Speaker 1: said there was a time when God winked at sin.
- 32:35Speaker 1: When he winked at sin, what does that mean? There
- 32:40Speaker 1: was a time when God saw sin and he did
- 32:43Speaker 1: not punish it as he could have. God's grace was
- 32:48Speaker 1: in play. Anytime God doesn't do what he could do,
- 32:53Speaker 1: it's grace. Everything is held together by grace. There is
- 32:58Speaker 1: so much that God could do, but he doesn't because
- 33:01Speaker 1: it's God's grace. It's God's grace. He is the God
- 33:05Speaker 1: of all grace. But here's what scripture says. The time
- 33:10Speaker 1: of his winking is done. He now commands men, all
- 33:15Speaker 1: men everywhere to repent. We think that repentance is something
- 33:20Speaker 1: that it needs to be. We are giving people a
- 33:23Speaker 1: choice to repent and we'll get into repentance later. down
- 33:26Speaker 1: the line in this series. But repentance is a command.
- 33:32Speaker 1: It is literally a command. God commands all people, all
- 33:38Speaker 1: men everywhere to repent. To repent. Change their minds about
- 33:47Speaker 1: their sin. Change their minds about who God is. Change
- 33:52Speaker 1: their minds about how they're living. God commands all men
- 33:57Speaker 1: to repent. If not, then one day the holiness of
- 34:03Speaker 1: God will be revealed as we just looked at in
- 34:09Speaker 1: that last verse. For the wrath of God is revealed
- 34:12Speaker 1: from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold.
- 34:16Speaker 2: The truth in unrighteousness. Okay? What does it mean to
- 34:24Speaker 2: hold What does it mean to hold the truth in unrighteousness?
- 34:29Speaker 1: Okay. This refers to actively, actively suppressing, actively hindering, actively
- 34:38Speaker 1: ignoring and refusing revealed spiritual truth in order to continue
- 34:45Speaker 1: living in sin. It's saying, I hear what you're saying.
- 34:50Speaker 1: You may have a great point.
- 34:52Speaker 2: I get it. but I want to do what I
- 34:55Speaker 2: want to do.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That's holding the truth in unrighteousness, suppressing it. That word
- 35:02Speaker 1: hold does not mean to hold something. That word hold
- 35:06Speaker 1: literally means in the Greek, it means to hold down,
- 35:10Speaker 1: to suppress, to.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Not allow it to do what it is supposed to do.
- 35:16Speaker 1: In spite of knowing what is right and true, people
- 35:20Speaker 1: often choose to live in a way that contradicts that
- 35:24Speaker 1: truth to avoid guilt and maintain their own way of
- 35:28Speaker 1: life once again they hold down the truth hold it
- 35:33Speaker 1: down suppress it okay that's what it means to hold
- 35:36Speaker 1: the truth and unrighteousness and that's where you and i
- 35:39Speaker 1: were that's where you and i were that's where the
- 35:43Speaker 1: world is now the world is is holding the truth
- 35:47Speaker 1: in unrighteousness folk know about jesus Okay, I don't mean
- 35:54Speaker 1: everyone in the whole world. There are people that don't
- 35:56Speaker 1: know anything about Jesus. But folk know. In general, folk
- 36:01Speaker 1: know about Jesus. In general, folk have heard the story
- 36:05Speaker 1: about Jesus dying for the sins of the world. In general,
- 36:09Speaker 1: folk know the phrase, Jesus loves you. They know it
- 36:13Speaker 1: right here. Folk know that, but what do they do
- 36:16Speaker 1: with it? What do they do with it, okay? They
- 36:19Speaker 1: hold the truth in unrighteousness.
- 36:23Speaker 2: I hear that. God loves me. I know God loves me. Okay.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I'm his favorite one, you know, but still, and yet
- 36:31Speaker 1: they continue to live how they want to live.
- 36:34Speaker 2: So they're holding the truth in unrighteousness.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Next, we need to be saved because we are by nature,
- 36:48Speaker 1: we are by nature deserving of this wrath. The wrath
- 36:52Speaker 1: that we spoke about in Romans 118, we deserve it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: We need to be saved so we can come out,
- 36:59Speaker 1: so we can come up from under the wrath that
- 37:02Speaker 1: we deserve.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Okay?
- 37:05Speaker 1: Ephesians 2, 2, 3, 2, 2 and 3, actually, among
- 37:10Speaker 1: whom also we had our conversation in time past, this
- 37:14Speaker 1: is 2, 3, in the lust of our flesh, fulfilling
- 37:18Speaker 1: the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and
- 37:22Speaker 1: we're By nature, the children of wrath.
- 37:26Speaker 2: By nature, okay? It's who we are. It's who we are.
- 37:32Speaker 1: This verse emphasizes that all people are naturally children of
- 37:37Speaker 1: wrath and are subject to God's judgment. You know, nobody
- 37:42Speaker 1: needs to teach you how to sin. Nobody needs to
- 37:47Speaker 1: teach you how to lie. Nobody needs to teach you
- 37:49Speaker 1: how to be dishonest. Nobody needs to teach you how
- 37:53Speaker 1: to do the wrong thing. Nobody needs to sit you
- 37:55Speaker 1: down and tell you how to be bad, how to sin.
- 37:59Speaker 1: And we know things like that do happen, but it
- 38:02Speaker 1: comes naturally. It comes naturally because we have this sin
- 38:08Speaker 1: nature within us that is ready, willing, and able to sin.
- 38:11Speaker 2: At the drop of a hat. Okay? So we are
- 38:16Speaker 2: naturally children of wrath.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Now, once again, when it talks about children of wrath,
- 38:24Speaker 1: this refers to all people, everyone who by their fallen nature,
- 38:30Speaker 1: the fallen nature are subject to God's righteous judgment because
- 38:36Speaker 1: of sin prior to receiving salvation through Christ. Okay, you
- 38:42Speaker 1: and I, you and I were something else. We were
- 38:46Speaker 1: something else before Jesus, but that is because we were
- 38:51Speaker 1: children of wrath. Amen.
- 38:54Speaker 2: We were most definitely children of wrath.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Next, we need to be saved because we are literally
- 39:07Speaker 1: in danger of hell. Everybody needs to be saved. So
- 39:15Speaker 1: they can avoid hell. Revelation 21.8. But the fearful.
- 39:22Speaker 2: And unbelieving. And abominable. And murderers. And hormones.
- 39:30Speaker 1: And sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their
- 39:38Speaker 1: part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone,
- 39:44Speaker 1: which is the second death.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Of course, he doesn't give every category of sin but
- 39:51Speaker 2: it's a wide group. Individuals who are unbelievers will find
- 39:57Speaker 2: their place, will have their place in the lake of fire,
- 40:01Speaker 2: the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone. Folk need
- 40:06Speaker 2: to be saved because they are in danger of hell. Okay?
- 40:11Speaker 1: Hell which was created, as Jesus said, hell which was
- 40:14Speaker 1: created for the devil and his angels. Created for the
- 40:21Speaker 1: devil and his angels.
- 40:23Speaker 2: What are you doing there? What is anyone, what is
- 40:26Speaker 2: any person doing there?
- 40:29Speaker 1: It's the default. Hell is the default location for those
- 40:37Speaker 1: who refuse to believe. It's a default location. You ever
- 40:44Speaker 1: crashed a party back in the day? I think I
- 40:47Speaker 1: did once. You go to a party where you were
- 40:52Speaker 1: not invited. You just show up. Well, in hell, that's
- 40:57Speaker 1: what it is. You're not invited. You don't belong there.
- 41:02Speaker 1: It's for the devil and his angels. But through unbelief,
- 41:07Speaker 1: once again, individuals, humans will end up there side by
- 41:13Speaker 1: side with the devil and his angels, okay? It serves,
- 41:18Speaker 1: and this verse serves as a warning about the consequences
- 41:21Speaker 1: of sin and unfaithfulness.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Okay? It's definitely a warning. Okay?
- 41:28Speaker 1: When we talk about the lake of fire, this refers
- 41:32Speaker 1: to that ultimate place of eternal judgment for Satan.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And all who reject the Lord Jesus Christ. The term
- 41:41Speaker 2: appears primarily in the book of Revelation, primarily. But it's real.
- 41:48Speaker 2: It's real.
- 41:50Speaker 1: The Lake of Fire is a real place and folk
- 41:54Speaker 1: are going to be there. It's not a place where
- 41:59Speaker 1: you or I.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Are going to be.
- 42:04Speaker 1: And you and I do not want anyone that we
- 42:07Speaker 1: know or don't know to be there. It's going to
- 42:14Speaker 1: be atrocious. It is going to be atrocious. Next, we
- 42:21Speaker 1: need to be saved. Folk need to be saved because
- 42:25Speaker 1: they are spiritually dead. Spiritually dead. Okay, back to Ephesians 2,
- 42:32Speaker 1: verses 1 and 2. And you hath he quickened who
- 42:35Speaker 1: were dead in trespasses and sins, wherein in time past
- 42:41Speaker 1: he walked according to the course of this world, according
- 42:45Speaker 1: to the prince of the power of the air, the
- 42:48Speaker 1: spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Now,
- 42:52Speaker 1: of course, this describes the spiritual condition of people who
- 42:56Speaker 1: live in disobedience to God, following worldly ways and influence
- 43:01Speaker 1: of evil without awareness or power to change their state
- 43:05Speaker 1: on their own. Once again, this is who we were.
- 43:08Speaker 1: This is who we were. And this is where the
- 43:10Speaker 1: world is. This is where the world is presently. Everyone
- 43:14Speaker 1: who is not in Christ is right here, okay? Everyone
- 43:18Speaker 1: who is not in Christ.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Is right here.
- 43:24Speaker 1: The course of this world, it refers to those norms
- 43:29Speaker 1: in this society, the values, the culture, the environment. It
- 43:34Speaker 1: describes the path that those who are unbelievers, the path
- 43:39Speaker 1: that their life naturally takes due to their own choices,
- 43:43Speaker 1: external circumstances, and the surrounding society. The spirit of the
- 43:47Speaker 1: world The world has a spirit, ladies and gentlemen. The
- 43:51Speaker 1: spirit of the world sweeps mankind along a spiritual channel
- 43:56Speaker 1: and keeps them in opposition to their creator. There is
- 44:01Speaker 1: a blindness that exists. There's a blindness that exists in
- 44:05Speaker 1: every person who is an unbeliever. They just don't see.
- 44:10Speaker 1: They just don't see. We need to be saved. Folk
- 44:14Speaker 1: need to be saved because... Because....
- 44:18Speaker 2: Their hearts are hardened by evil. Let's look at this
- 44:24Speaker 2: one very carefully.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Ephesians 4 and 18, having the understanding darkened.
- 44:29Speaker 2: This is a description of lost mankind.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of
- 44:37Speaker 1: God through ignorance, through the ignorance that is in them
- 44:40Speaker 1: because of the blindness of their heart.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Alienated. God is here and we're way over there somewhere. Okay.
- 44:48Speaker 2: We are not close. Okay.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Even though scripture says in the book of Acts that
- 44:52Speaker 1: God is not far from any one of us, which
- 44:55Speaker 1: means he is only a prayer away. Call upon the
- 44:59Speaker 1: Lord when he may be found.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 45:03Speaker 1: So he is not far from any one of us.
- 45:06Speaker 1: If we approach him properly, he is not far. But
- 45:10Speaker 1: once we are living selfishly according to the cause of
- 45:13Speaker 1: this world and our hearts are constantly being hardened by evil,
- 45:17Speaker 1: We are alienated. Once again, this describes the spiritual condition
- 45:21Speaker 1: of people who live in disobedience to God, following the
- 45:25Speaker 1: worldly ways of evil. And we talked about this. They
- 45:28Speaker 1: don't have the power to change. We gave this description before,
- 45:31Speaker 1: but it still fits. Next, here we see that word
- 45:39Speaker 1: hardness of the blindness of their heart, the blindness of
- 45:43Speaker 1: their heart.
- 45:44Speaker 2: The Greek, The Greek says that that word blind is
- 45:49Speaker 2: actually the word hard. Okay.
- 45:53Speaker 1: It's actually the word hard. So it's hardness of heart.
- 45:57Speaker 1: And it refers to a spiritual and moral condition in
- 46:02Speaker 1: which a person becomes number one, insensitive.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Number two, unresponsive. Number three, resistant to God. Insensitive. unresponsive, unresponsive,
- 46:17Speaker 2: and resistant to God, okay?
- 46:20Speaker 1: It's described as being like a stone, unmoved, callous, and
- 46:25Speaker 1: difficult to reach with spiritual truth. That is someone with
- 46:28Speaker 1: a hardened heart. And that is the state of every
- 46:31Speaker 1: single person that is an unbeliever. Their heart is hardened
- 46:38Speaker 1: on some level. It's not, Always easy to break through
- 46:44Speaker 1: with spiritual truth. Okay, there can be acceptance. When I
- 46:49Speaker 1: say can be acceptance, I'm not saying, what I'm saying
- 46:53Speaker 1: is that sometimes when people hear the gospel for the
- 46:56Speaker 1: first time, it has no effect.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It does nothing.
- 47:00Speaker 1: But others, when they hear the gospel, there's an immediate response.
- 47:04Speaker 1: There's an immediate response. The Holy Spirit immediately begins to
- 47:07Speaker 1: convict and they submit. That also happens. But there is
- 47:11Speaker 1: yet a hardness of heart that does exist in the
- 47:15Speaker 1: heart of individuals who do.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Not know the Lord. Okay?
- 47:20Speaker 1: We need, folk need to be saved because their hearts
- 47:25Speaker 1: are enslaved to sin.
- 47:30Speaker 2: And to Satan. Enslaved to sin and to Satan.
- 47:33Speaker 1: 1 John 5, verse number 19. And we know that
- 47:38Speaker 1: we are of God.
- 47:39Speaker 2: We're believers. and the whole world lieth in wickedness. The
- 47:45Speaker 2: whole world, the whole world lieth in wickedness.
- 47:51Speaker 1: And this verse refers to the fallen state of the world,
- 47:55Speaker 1: which is under the domain of Satan, the dominion of Satan.
- 48:00Speaker 2: It doesn't mean every person.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Cannot be saved or unredeemably evil, but that the prevailing
- 48:08Speaker 1: system of the world It operates under the influence of
- 48:11Speaker 1: sin and opposition to God, leaving them spiritually enslaved. That's
- 48:17Speaker 1: where everyone is. That phrase, the whole world lieth in wickedness,
- 48:22Speaker 1: literally means in the Greek, it literally means under the
- 48:27Speaker 1: whole world lieth under the dominion of the wicked one, Satan.
- 48:34Speaker 1: It's talking about Satan himself because he is the prince.
- 48:39Speaker 1: of this world, okay? Once again, the whole world.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Lies in wickedness.
- 48:46Speaker 1: The original Greek phrasing states, lieth in the power of
- 48:51Speaker 1: the evil one. This means the world is passively, because
- 48:57Speaker 1: they don't know it, they don't recognize it, because Satan
- 49:00Speaker 1: has blinded their minds. 2 Corinthians chapter four and verse
- 49:03Speaker 1: number four. Satan has blinded their minds that they do
- 49:06Speaker 1: not see. So the world is passively resting in the
- 49:10Speaker 1: grip of Satan who operates as the spiritual ruler of
- 49:15Speaker 1: this fallen age. He is the prince of this present
- 49:18Speaker 1: evil age. he is the prince of the power of
- 49:21Speaker 1: the air and folk are passively resting in his grip
- 49:29Speaker 1: because they don't realize that they are bound by sin
- 49:35Speaker 1: and evil and wickedness and blindness they don't realize it
- 49:39Speaker 1: That's why folk need to be saved. Finally, finally, we need,
- 49:49Speaker 1: folk need to be saved because they're at odds with God.
- 49:56Speaker 1: They're at odds with God, okay? They are in opposition
- 50:00Speaker 1: to God. They are enemies of God. Colossians 1 and 21,
- 50:04Speaker 1: and you, that's us, Who were sometimes alienated. Just like
- 50:10Speaker 1: the other verse said. We were far away from God.
- 50:12Speaker 1: And enemies in your mind. By wicked works. By the
- 50:17Speaker 1: things that we did. It showed that we were enemies.
- 50:21Speaker 2: In our minds. In our behavior. In our actions. Yet now.
- 50:26Speaker 1: He has reconciled. We were in a bad state. We
- 50:30Speaker 1: were in a bad state. And I'm sure that we
- 50:32Speaker 1: did not recognize. What a bad state we were in.
- 50:36Speaker 2: But now.
- 50:38Speaker 1: We have been reconciled. We have been brought back. We
- 50:41Speaker 1: are now in relationship with him. This verse emphasizes three
- 50:45Speaker 1: key aspects of human separation from God. It talks about alienation,
- 50:53Speaker 1: hostility and thought. We were hostile to God. We were enemies.
- 50:57Speaker 1: And sinful actions, okay? Illustrating the depth of humanity's estrangement
- 51:03Speaker 1: from God.
- 51:05Speaker 2: And once again, humanity, Has no clue. Lost. Alienated. Far
- 51:14Speaker 2: from God. They don't know. Okay? Enemies. Enemies. And this
- 51:24Speaker 2: simply means, enemies in your mind simply means, this.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Particularly striking term, it strongly implies that our thoughts can
- 51:35Speaker 1: create barriers between us and God, and not just our thoughts.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Of course, our actions, our words, everything that we do
- 51:43Speaker 1: before we are born again, no matter how good we
- 51:48Speaker 1: try to dress it, no matter how we try to
- 51:49Speaker 1: make it sound, we are at odds with God because
- 51:54Speaker 1: we are unbelievers. Unbelievers, amen? We'll stop right there. We'll
- 52:03Speaker 1: stop right there. I want to thank each and every
- 52:06Speaker 1: one of you here tonight.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Thank you. Deanna says, I pray that their eyes are open. Amen.
- 52:16Speaker 2: That is our prayer.
- 52:17Speaker 1: We want everybody's eyes to be open. But I did
- 52:22Speaker 1: this study here tonight to try and bring out, try
- 52:28Speaker 1: to bring out an understanding of the depth of, the
- 52:33Speaker 1: depth of, of sin, the meaning of not being in
- 52:40Speaker 1: Christ and how badly those who are unbelievers need Jesus.
- 52:47Speaker 1: They are in a terrible predicament. Wicked works have nothing
- 52:54Speaker 1: but the lake of fire to look forward to unless
- 52:58Speaker 1: they get saved, unless they get saved.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Amen.
- 53:03Speaker 1: And so when we come together next time, we will
- 53:08Speaker 1: begin to talk about just how.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Do you get saved? And I know we know, or
- 53:18Speaker 2: we think we know, just how. How does one bring themselves,
- 53:25Speaker 2: and they can't do it themselves, but how does one
- 53:27Speaker 2: come out of this terrible predicament of being an unbeliever?
- 53:32Speaker 2: How does it happen?
- 53:33Speaker 1: Well, we'll talk about it next time we come together.
- 53:35Speaker 1: We'll begin talking about salvation. Very straight talk, okay? We're
- 53:42Speaker 1: gonna get into some very straight talk about salvation and
- 53:48Speaker 1: hold on to your hats, okay? So God bless you, Deanna.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us, Bishop Brown. Thank you, Deanna, Michael, Rochester.
