- 0:08You are listening to The Hidden Lightness on America Out Loud Talk Radio.
- 0:12I'm your host, Jimmy Hinton.
- 0:14Well, secretive billionaire, owner of OnlyFans, dies at the age of 43.
- 0:22This was pretty big news.
- 0:23There was a big shakeup last week, I guess.
- 0:29And the owner, he's not the founder, apparently, but he is the owner.
- 0:36He had bought OnlyFans from its parent company and then reshaped it into a subscription model for pornographic content.
- 0:48Completely reshaping the way that people make money and the way that people are, or quite frankly, expllited online.
- 0:57And of course, this happened at a time right before COVID.
- 1:03He bought the company in 2018.
- 1:07And under his ownership, OnlyFans was turned from a platform that avoided explicit content into an adults only phenomenon with more than 300 million users and over one billion dollars in annual revenue.
- 1:26It's powered by erotic performers and celebrity influencers.
- 1:33And uh so Leo Radvinsky, the very secretive billionaire owner, ironically passed away at the age of 43.
- 1:47He died from cancer, and this has created a lot of, let's say, buzz, which for today's show is gonna open us up into uh uh maybe a different avenue from what the roof rumors are and a different discussion, but it is on topic, and you'll see where I'm going with this here in a little bit.
- 2:14But the rumors are that Elon Musk said that he was going to buy OnlyFans in order to shut it down, that there was a quote allegedly from Elon Musk, and he said, well, why not?
- 2:31You know, his fans were uh asking him, are you gonna buy OnlyFans in order to shut it down?
- 2:40And allegedly, Elon's response was I don't see why not.
- 2:47And so now they're all kinds of rumors circulating, and the big question is did this really happen, number one, and number two, could it potentially happen?
- 3:00Would there be any benefit besides for having uh young girls think that they need to be exploited uh for profit?
- 3:14Is it a possibility?
- 3:16Is it possible that Elon Musk could buy OnlyFans in order to shut it down?
- 3:23Well, we'll begin with the rumor itself.
- 3:26I looked into this, and there is absolutely zero evidence of an authentic post by Elon Musk.
- 3:37Uh at first, when I saw that Leonard Radvinski, the billionaire owner of OnlyFans, when I saw that he had passed away, I thought that that was a rumor.
- 3:50I thought it was AI because now you have actual articles that look like they're from credible media sources that are circulating all over the place.
- 4:00And this is one of the big problems with AI, is it's getting more and more difficult to find what's actually true and what's made up.
- 4:10And of course, it is true.
- 4:13I did look into it and found from credible news sources.
- 4:18Uh, I use that term loosely, but uh, you know, with the mainstream media, you never really know.
- 4:25But it is true.
- 4:27There's a Reuters article.
- 4:30Secret of a billionaire, owner of OnlyFans dies at 43.
- 4:35The Ukrainian American entrepreneur bought Fenex International, the parent company of OnlyFans from the platform's British founder, Tim Stokely in 2018.
- 4:49He served as a director on Felix's board and was its majority shareholder.
- 4:55Under his ownership, OnlyFans turned from a platform that once avoided explicit content into an adults-only phenomenon, boasting it's 300 million users and a billion in annual revenue.
- 5:12Absolutely crazy.
- 5:15And OnlyFans spokesperson said last Monday, we are deeply saddened to announce the death of Leo Radvinsky.
- 5:24Leo passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer.
- 5:29His death, of course, leaves questions about who will own the platform.
- 5:35His Fenix shares have been held in the LR Fennex Trust since 2024.
- 5:43And his net worth was right around 4.7 billion dollars, according to Forbes.
- 5:51They're real-time billionaires list.
- 5:55Reuters reported in January, OnlyFans was exploring the sale of a majority stake to investment firm Architect Capital in a deal valuing the company at about 5.5 billion dollars, including debt.
- 6:13The article goes on to say the platform exploded in popularity during the pandemic as millions of people stuck at home globally turned to the web, fueling a surge in content and users.
- 6:27OnlyFans takes a 20% fee, uh, a 20% fee on most subscriptions and content sold on the platform.
- 6:40And of course, this sparked a global shift in culture.
- 6:48I mean, immediately overnight, and that's kind of the strange thing about the pandemic, isn't it?
- 6:53The pandemic shifted culture as we know it in a lot of different areas, and it did it immediately.
- 7:02Think about streaming.
- 7:05Yeah, I still go back and I look at our church's live stream right before the pandemic.
- 7:11And we were like cutting edge at the time, and it was it was terrible quality.
- 7:17It was really bad quality.
- 7:19Not to say the good quality equipment didn't exist out there and services, but it was really clunky.
- 7:26It was really confusing.
- 7:27It was uh it was not user-friendly, and it took a lot if you actually wanted to live stream and have a good audio and video quality and uh trying to find out what the best platforms were to actually stream, and it it was it was complex, it was very complex.
- 7:46I know I was the one who set up our live stream originally, and I had to do a lot of research and it just it was really complex.
- 7:58It was clunky.
- 8:01Well, we used COVID like millions of businesses and churches and individuals, uh, like millions of people did.
- 8:11We used the pandemic as a time to really zero in on it and make it better.
- 8:18And the thought was, at least our thought, and I think a lot of other people, well, the world is shut down, literally.
- 8:27People were banned, even Christians were banned from having worship services because they were not considered essential, and there were other avenues in which people could worship.
- 8:42And they disallowed churches to meet in person.
- 8:47I know in Pennsylvania where I live, we were permitted to have up to 10 individuals in person, which we did.
- 8:57We had uh usually right between eight and ten people, and we live streamed the service.
- 9:05So I still went in and I still taught Bible class and preached, and we live streamed it.
- 9:12And we knew that the quality wasn't that great.
- 9:16So we worked on it, and we we fixed it up.
- 9:19We built uh a media box.
- 9:24You know, we built the essentially a platform, a raised platform in the back of the sanctuary, and we bought more equipment and we bought better cameras and had a better computer that can handle handle the workload.
- 9:42We upgraded our internet.
- 9:45Uh, we upgraded our soundboard.
- 9:48You know, we did a lot of things.
- 9:49We put a lot of money in and and manpower into it, and a lot of churches did that.
- 9:54And so our live stream improved very dramatically.
- 10:00And it's a good thing.
- 10:00You know, that's I think that's something good that came out of COVID.
- 10:06It became easier to stream.
- 10:09Zoom became kind of the gold standard for streaming services.
- 10:15And really had a monopoly.
- 10:16If you think about it, they had a monopoly on live streaming.
- 10:23And now you have so many different things.
- 10:37And it's just no offense, but pretty much everything linked to Microsoft is a bust.
- 10:46And it's it's it's just clunky.
- 10:50Microsoft is one of the one of the companies that with every upgrade you you typically get crashes.
- 10:56It's like things get worse with every upgrade.
- 11:01And I never understood how they could be so consistent and uh just messing things up.
- 11:10But somehow they do.
- 11:12So that's neither here nor there.
- 11:14So the uh the topic is OnlyFans.
- 11:17What's going to happen with it?
- 11:18Is Elon Musk really going to buy it?
- 11:20Well, there's nothing that indicates that Musk is going to buy it, so I hate to break it to people, but I think OnlyFans is here to stay.
- 11:29It's just a question of who is going to buy the platform and how many other platforms are going to crop up.
- 11:37And that's the topic that I'm going to talk about.
- 11:41You know, the issue is the topic of discussion is how much has the exploitation taken off, especially since COVID.
- 11:54And I use the term exploitation because that's what it is.
- 11:57It's convincing young girls and women that they need to sell their sexuality.
- 12:10And you hear you hear it all the time, and the media, the media has glamorized it too.
- 12:16And I don't care what they say, they've glamorized it.
- 12:19That's one thing the mainstream media covers.
- 12:22And how many times have you heard a story about oh, I was a female police officer or a school teacher, and I was having a hard time paying my bills, and I turned to OnlyFans, and now I'm making I make a million bucks a month now.
- 12:38I make more money in a month than what I would have made in 10 years of teaching high school.
- 12:47Or being a police officer.
- 12:50Or whatever it is.
- 12:51And then, of course, the media loves the stories of the double lives, people who work a job as a school teacher, and they moonlight doing OnlyFans with their husband or whatever.
- 13:07And then all of a sudden, a teacher, uh another teacher or a parent or a student finds the OnlyFans page, and then there it's like a national controversy.
- 13:19I've heard dozens of these stories.
- 13:22I've read about them in the news, I've seen videos on them, and the media kind of sensationalizes it to the point where it sounds very appealing.
- 13:31It begins to sound appealing for young people.
- 13:36And they're like, well, if this person can make a million dollars a month or whatever, why would I not do it?
- 13:44Why would I not try it?
- 13:47And what they don't tell you is that those numbers are absolutely incredibly rare.
- 13:54It is very, very rare for somebody to become a top content creator on the platform.
- 14:02I want you to listen to these numbers because this is really important.
- 14:05This is what people are selling their souls for, essentially.
- 14:10And there are millions of people who are getting sucked into this trap.
- 14:17Listen to this.
- 14:18You ready for this?
- 14:20These numbers are absolutely mind-blowing.
- 14:23The average OnlyFans creator earns approximately 130 to 180 per month.
- 14:32That's the average.
- 14:35This figure is skewed by high earners.
- 14:39Most creators, virtually all of them, make less than 100 monthly.
- 14:47The top 1% of creators capture 33% of all revenue.
- 14:54A typical successful creator with a consistent following might make closer to 1,000 to 10,000 monthly, according to OnlyMonster.
- 15:06But that's incredibly rare.
- 15:081,000 to 10,000 monthly is almost an impossibility.
- 15:15It's off the charts rare.
- 15:18So a lot of people think that, well, I'm just going to fall into success.
- 15:21All I have to do is uh sell a couple explicit videos or photos or both or whatever.
- 15:31And I'm going to make all this money.
- 15:34And young people, especially, they're they're think about the pressures.
- 15:38Think about the pressures and how easy it is for people to fall into that trap.
- 15:43I just talked about it yesterday, right?
- 15:46Young people are facing a lot of different issues.
- 15:49One of the major issues, one of the biggest issues that young people are facing is the affordability crisis.
- 15:56They can't afford houses.
- 16:00They can't afford cars.
- 16:03Repossessions are the highest that they've been in a long, long time.
- 16:08I think since 2008, car repossessions are at the highest.
- 16:12Uh house foreclosures are very high.
- 16:15The average age that young people, first-time homebuyers are buying a house is between 35 and 40.
- 16:21And so there is this tremendous pressure to make more money.
- 16:28And the trap is hey, this is easy money.
- 16:32Anyone can do it.
- 16:35You get on and and you know, shoot a couple videos or whatever, and and uh off to the races we go.
- 16:41The reality is you're lucky if you make a hundred dollars a month.
- 16:47You're very lucky if you're making a hundred dollars a month.
- 16:50And so once that content is out there, it's out there.
- 16:55And this is the problem that's facing America right now.

- 19:12Visit TWC.
- 19:32Well, at least a number of questions, but uh at the forefront of people's minds, what is the future of OnlyFans?
- 19:40A lot of people want it shut down because of the exploitation of young women, especially.
- 19:48A lot of young people uh really starting their lives out at a young age, at the age of 18.
- 19:55Uh, there's of course a very controversial one right now.
- 20:00You may see may have seen this in the news.
- 20:03As a matter of fact, just last month, it was all over the news.
- 20:09USA Today did a piece in January.
- 20:13And other people have done pieces in a lot of people have done pieces in February.
- 20:19But it's the young child YouTube star Piper Raquel.
- 20:26I had no idea who this was.
- 20:28I had to look her up.
- 20:29I had never heard of her before, but apparently she was a popular YouTube influencer since childhood.
- 20:36Upon turning 18, she transitioned to explicit content on OnlyFans.
- 20:44And apparently she's somebody who was already making pretty good money from YouTube, but decided that she was gonna kind of destroy that innocent childhood image.
- 20:57And she was going to turn to explicit content now that she's an adult.
- 21:03She's been described as one of the highest grossing creators on YouTube.
- 21:10And it has a lot of people questioning.
- 21:12All right, well, why in the world do you need to turn to OnlyFans?
- 21:18If you're making that much money off of YouTube, why in the world do you need to sell explicit content?
- 21:22Especially when her image was of an innocent child.
- 21:29I think it's a good question.
- 21:31I think it's a great question, actually.
- 21:36I don't get it.
- 21:37Except we're gonna take a peek into what the studies suggest.
- 21:42And I think that that probably has a bigger bearing than anything else.
- 21:47It's the pressure for this to become trendy.
- 21:52Obviously, for her, it's not so much about the money.
- 21:56Although I gotta say, that's definitely a motivator.
- 22:02But she's kind of clapped back at critics, and she's lost a lot of her fans from when she was a YouTube star.
- 22:10She lost a lot of her fans because she a lot of kids looked up to her.
- 22:15Apparently.
- 22:18A lot of kids looked up to her and thought that she was entertaining or whatever.
- 22:24And I don't know.
- 22:28I don't get it.
- 22:28There was a Netflix series, I guess, in the right before she turned 18.
- 22:35It's uh Piper Raquel in the squad kid influencer documentary on Netflix.
- 22:44So I have no idea what that's about.
- 22:46I haven't watched it.
- 22:47I probably will never watch it, to be honest.
- 22:50Uh, but it just it I want to highlight this growing trend.
- 22:56Another one is a very prominent figure, top content creator on OnlyFans.
- 23:02I think she is the top creator, and that's Sophie Rain.
- 23:08Uh she's making millions, and sometimes millions in a month.
- 23:18And uh for me, it points to a bigger pit a bigger issue.
- 23:24Yeah, this is not about it's not so much about the problem with young people and young women being exploited, but the bigger issue is there's this big of a market.
- 23:42There are that many people who pay for this kind of content.
- 23:47Piper Roquel, for example, and this just shows you how creepy people are, in my opinion.
- 23:53It's just protect your kids, people.
- 23:57There are a lot of creeps out there.
- 24:00Keep in mind, she had just turned 18 and was known for her innocent persona, her childlike persona on YouTube.
- 24:14That's what made her so wildly successful.
- 24:16Now you now maybe we know why.
- 24:20But Piper Raquel claims that in her first month, she made 2.9 million dollars on OnlyFans by selling explicit content.
- 24:33That is absolutely crazy to me that there are that many people who the moment somebody turns 18 now, all of a sudden they want to buy, they want to get the explicit content, which begs the question.
- 24:51If it were legal, and I think we know the answer to this, if it were legal when somebody was younger than 18, would people consume it?
- 24:59Absolutely.
- 25:00This is sick stuff, people.
- 25:02It's very, very sick, disgusting stuff.
- 25:07And the exploitation of girls and women has skyrocketed.
- 25:12I I've I've talked about this plenty of times.
- 25:15Uh National Centers for Missing and Exploited Children, they have on their website that since the pandemic, the exploitation of children online has skyrocketed with artificial intelligence.
- 25:36It has taken disgusting things to a whole new level and fast, really, really quickly.
- 25:45There are a lot of studies that have been out, and believe it or not, ICE, of all federal organizations, ICE, U.S.
- 25:54Immigration and Customs Enforcement, their website has some of the best information on exploitation and what the trends are.
- 26:06So I'm going to read a little bit off of ICE's website.
- 26:10And uh it's actually really good information.
- 26:16You probably wouldn't catch a single Democrat anywhere reading anything that ICE writes as credible, but I gotta tell you, this is really good information.
- 26:28I'll link to it in the show notes.
- 26:29It is excellent.
- 26:32And they're talking about sextortion, and that sex tortion is more common than what you think.
- 26:40It reads this.
- 26:41Not long ago, making prank calls was the worst trouble a group of teens could get into with a telephone.
- 26:48I remember those days.
- 26:50You guys remember the days of prank calls?
- 26:53There was no caller ID, we had the rotary phones.
- 26:56There was no way that they could possibly trace you.
- 27:01And we would call people and just mess around with them, and it was good clean fun.
- 27:08At least in my home, we never did anything that was harmful.
- 27:12Uh, we didn't bully people, we didn't haze people.
- 27:15It was just good, clean fun.
- 27:18And I kind of wished that my children were growing up in a time where prank calls were the only trouble that teens could get into.
- 27:29Anyway, the ice article goes on to say, but today predators use phones to stalk blackmail stock and black male teens on social media and dating apps.
- 27:42I just did a show on that.
- 27:45Facebook just got sued two ways to Sunday in New Mexico and California because it was proved that they were exploiting young children.
- 28:00We're not even talking teenagers here.
- 28:03They were exploiting young children.
- 28:05Predators were literally selling people on the marketplace.
- 28:11Children were being sex trafficked on Meta's platforms.
- 28:18I mean, this has skyrocketed since the pandemic.
- 28:22We need to be well aware of this.
- 28:24We need, I know it's not comfortable to talk about this stuff.
- 28:27I you'll hear me kind of fumble over my words today.
- 28:31I've been talking about this for what, 14, 15 years now, and I'm still uncomfortable talking about it.
- 28:39I do not like talking about this subject.
- 28:45But I bring it up because it is so incredibly common.
- 28:49And the question is, what's the alternative to not talking about it?
- 28:52If we keep silent, they win.
- 28:54If if we keep silent, we don't train our kids.
- 28:58If we keep silent, our kids don't know what's waiting just on the other side of that screen.
- 29:07These devices are a window into our children's lives, whether we like it or not.
- 29:14This is an issue.
- 29:16Your children will face some sort of sex dorsi in their life.
- 29:22Statistically speaking, somebody will try to extort them for sex.
- 29:28It's going to happen.
- 29:32So I'd rather be uncomfortable about it.
- 29:35I'd rather fumble over my words and try to find the right way to talk about this.
- 29:40And there is no politically correct way to talk about it.
- 29:46There is no sensitive way to really address this.
- 29:50We've got to confront it head on and say this is a major, major issue facing America.
- 29:56The whole world.
- 30:00But I'm talking specifically about America and what's going on right here in our own backyard.
- 30:08So here's the next paragraph.
- 30:10Sextortion, and again, this is on ice.gov.
- 30:13Sextortion, the act of threatening to share nude or explicit images is more common than you may think.
- 30:20And cases affecting young children, teens, and adults have increased exponentially the past two years.
- 30:30In fact, Homeland Secur investigations received over 3,000 sex tortion tips in fiscal year 2022.
- 30:42One current sex tortion trend targets boys between 14 and 17 years old.
- 30:50Do you find that a little surprising?
- 30:52I did.
- 30:53Typically, it's girls who tend to be exploited the most.
- 31:00But here we have this really bizarre trend where boys between 14 and 17 are targeted really big time.
- 31:09Adult predators pretending to be young girls, feign romantic interest in the boys on gaming platforms, apps, and social media sites.
- 31:21It starts simply enough.
- 31:22A teen responds to an online request to expose parts of their body on a webcam or send a nude photo to a new online friend in quotes.
- 31:34The next thing the teen knows their new friend threatens to expose them by publicizing the photos unless they pose for more explicit photos or send money.
- 31:47I mean, this is messed up stuff.
- 31:51In some schemes, adult predators deceive and manipulate young males into engaging in explicit activity over video, which the predator secret secretly records.
- 32:04The predator then reveals that they've made the recording and threatens to post clips online if the victim doesn't pay up.
- 32:14This terrifying and dehumanizing violation feeds on victims' shame.
- 32:20The emotional results for victims, especially kids, is devastating.
- 32:25Feeling embarrassed, hopeless, and isolated.
- 32:29Many of these teens have nowhere to turn.
- 32:32I mean, how do they report that?
- 32:34How do they go and tell their mom, oh yeah, mom?
- 32:38I just secretly recorded a nude video of myself and posted that to a stranger online.
- 32:44How does a kid tell that to their parents?
- 32:47And I know a lot of parents are thinking right now, well, I have a good relationship with my kids, and they they would tell me anything.
- 32:54If anything ever happened, they would tell me, and we just have that kind of a relationship.
- 32:58I guarantee you're wrong.
- 33:00In cases like this, maybe eventually, and I definitely I am a proponent 100% of having that open conversation with your kids.
- 33:14Be approachable.
- 33:16Be the type of parents that your kids can talk to you about anything, but it's not guaranteed that they're going to do that.
- 33:24With this level of extortion, the kids are your kids are embarrassed.
- 33:30They feel stupid for falling into this trap.
- 33:33They know by now that it's a scam, and they can't undo it.
- 33:40Some even go, listen to this next sentence.
- 33:42Listen how chilling this is.
- 33:45Ice.gov.
- 33:49Some, we're talking about kids here.
- 33:52Some even go so far as to take their own lives without knowing that help is available.
- 34:00This is heartbreaking.
- 34:04This is why we need to have this discussion.
- 34:06And I'm not, you know, you might have thought that I opened the show talking about OnlyFans is like kind of this silly, you know, what's going to happen with OnlyFans, ha ha.
- 34:17But this is serious stuff.
- 34:20Because this is the pressure that our kids are facing every single day.
- 34:27The statistics are frightening, and I'm going to talk about some of the stats.
- 34:31Fact, let me look up some of the stats.
- 34:33I'll see if I can find them here.
- 34:35Um let's see.
- 34:38First of all, the percentage of young women, young American women on OnlyFans, there have been different different figures.
- 34:46Newsweek did a uh a piece, and they estimated that there are about 1.4 million American young women using OnlyFans.
- 35:00Now, doing a little bit of a dig uh deeper dig here, it appears that those numbers are not quite what's being reported.
- 35:11It's it's really difficult to get numbers that are actually reported.
- 35:15So let's just start by saying we don't know the actual numbers, but we know it's a lot.
- 35:21Some media threads, social media threads have claimed anywhere from one in 30 to 10% of all young American women ages 18 to 24 are on OnlyFans.
- 35:35These claims stem from rough extrapolation published by outlets like Washington Examiner and Newsweek, which estimate that 1.4 million American women use the platform to create content, explicit content.
- 35:56However, we think the numbers are probably a little bit less than that, but we don't really know for sure.
- 36:04All right.
- 36:05So let's look at some of the numbers.
- 36:08There have been a lot of studies.
- 36:10There's qualitative insights on peer pressure.
- 36:14Uh 2023 NLM PMC study.
- 36:21It's a qualitative study exploring adolescent girls' mental health and social media, and it found that girls face a profound pressure to conform.
- 36:32Participants explicitly reported that social media uh social and gender norms create an expectation that they must post sexualized images of themselves to gain peer acceptance and approval.
- 36:47Because the images are tangibly rewarded with more likes than non-sexualized images, it reinforces the idea that their physical appearance is their primary currency.
- 36:57This is fact.
- 37:01All right.
- 37:02Um, we're up on a break here.
- 37:06Let me just cut there, and when we come back, I'm going to look at more statistics, and then we will talk about what do we do?
- 37:12What's the solution?
- 37:13What's the solution in all of this?
- 37:15How do we fix it?

- 38:50Leon Radvinski, he is the owner, uh billionaire who bought the parent company, Fenix International.
- 39:02He bought that in 2018.
- 39:04He switched it to an explicit only content or mostly explicit content.
- 39:11And he died at the age of 43 of cancer just recently.
- 39:16And this has a lot of people questioning well, what's going to happen with the platform because we know that this really is driving sexual exploitation of young women, especially.
- 39:29At the same time, we were just looking at some of the statistics, and ICE says that sex torture has increased exponentially in the last two years.
- 39:41A lot of this was driven by COVID.
- 39:45And it has shifted something deep within our culture in America.
- 39:50This is part of why when Trump talked about the extortion and human sex trafficking of young children and the rape of young children who are coming across the border.
- 40:00People flipped out, and because Donald Trump said it, it was that was fake, that was fake news, that was it wasn't true.
- 40:07He was just trying to use an excuse to shut down the border and to arrest innocent people who came across the border and on and on and on.
- 40:14It goes.
- 40:15Well, it turns that President Trump was 100% right.
- 40:20There is a major issue.
- 40:22There was at least.
- 40:33Human trafficking and human sex trafficking increased exponentially whenever Joseph R.
- 40:40Biden opened up the southern border.
- 40:43It was like Swiss cheese where people could just walk right through.
- 40:49And it created a lot of problems, but there was kind of the perfect storm because it wasn't just that people are coming across the border, because that doesn't inherently make people corrupt or vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
- 41:06At the same time, we had kind of the perfect storm because culturally there's been this really big push, and especially since COVID.
- 41:21Not even close.
- 41:23The pressure for young people to sexualize themselves and to send nude photos and videos and those sorts of things.
- 41:34The pressure was not nearly as strong pre-COVID.
- 41:40And you can chalk it up to whatever.
- 41:42It's uh I don't people stuck at home, people bored, too much people spending too much time on the internet, uh, going down rabbit trails and finding explicit content themselves, getting addicted to it.
- 41:55Uh I don't know.
- 41:56I don't know what all the contributing factors are, but what we do know is that COVID catapulted this issue, and OnlyFans contributed majorly to this issue.
- 42:09Majorly.
- 42:11It is a big issue, and it is here to stay.
- 42:15So no only fans is not going to be sold to Elon Musk.
- 42:19He's not going to shut the company down.
- 42:21That's all rumor.
- 42:25So sextortion, which is getting videos and photos of young children, teens and adults, it affects young children, teens, and adults.
- 42:43People get the pictures, these scammers, they get the pictures and the videos, they secretly record them, and then they threaten to post them publicly if the people don't send the money.
- 42:56It's a highly effective way to extort people for cash.
- 43:02And these scuzz sleaze balls are doing this every single day to millions of victims all across the world.
- 43:13This has increased exponentially.
- 43:17And there's one current trend, it's very troubling.
- 43:20It targets boys between 14 and 17.
- 43:26And my theory on that, based on the research that I've done.
- 43:31My theory on that is because boys, there's a certain stigma that when boys post pictures and videos are sexualized in any way, they especially do not tell.
- 43:45When they're victimized, when they're sexual victims, boys especially don't tell.
- 44:04This is very strategic.
- 44:07And what they're doing is they're they're attempting to guarantee payment, and they're attempting to guarantee silence, those two things.
- 44:16And they're very effective at it.
- 44:18So they pretend to be girls who are interested in them.
- 44:24They post fake pictures with artificial intelligence.
- 44:26This is incredibly easy now.
- 44:29It's so easy to create people who don't even exist.
- 44:36These boys at 14 and 17, the hormones are absolutely out of control.
- 44:42They think they're in love, they they see this beautiful bombshell of a of a girlfriend who they think is their girlfriend, their online girlfriend, who may not even be a real person.
- 44:55It may be a picture or image, a picture or a video of artificial intelligence.
- 45:02You can't tell the difference anymore.
- 45:06And then they're convinced to post nudes of themselves.
- 45:11They do it, they comply, they think it's fun, they think it's cool, that it's exciting for hormone-filled boys.
- 45:18You know, they they think they're falling in love.
- 45:22And then they quickly find out it's a scammer.
- 45:25The scammer has recorded the pictures and/or videos and threatens to post them publicly.
- 45:35And the boys freak out.
- 45:38And they'll find a way to get the money.
- 45:40They will absolutely find a way to get the money.
- 45:45So this is leading to anxiety, depression, uh, severe panic attacks.
- 45:52It's tough.
- 45:53This is what our kids are facing right now.
- 45:57That's very, very hard.
- 45:58So uh again, I want to look at some of the statistics.
- 46:01There was a study I was saying before the break, a 2023 study, it was a qualitative study that explored adolescent girls' mental health and social media, and it found that girls face a profound pressure to conform.
- 46:20Basically, putting themselves out there online very publicly, and to do that sexually.
- 46:31It reinforces the idea that their physical appearance is their primary currency.
- 46:40No, while magazines and television have historically sexualized women, social media is far more damaging.
- 46:48That's again why it's so portent that Facebook or Meta, the parent company, got its pants sued off.
- 46:57It's very important to understand this.
- 46:59The research is very clear on this.
- 47:01Social media is far more damaging than TV or magazines that sexualize women.
- 47:10And it's because young bird young girls are comparing themselves directly to their peers and their classmates rather than to distant celebrities.
- 47:20So the pressure to participate and to show off their bodies to quote keep up is significantly more intense, according to this study.
- 47:32There was a meta-analysis of sexualizing media 2018.
- 47:37This was a massive, massive meta-analysis of over 50 independent studies that confirmed a robust positive link between the use of sexualizing online media and self-objectification.
- 47:54The study noted that internet and video game use had an even stronger effect on self objectification than traditional television.
- 48:06And again, that's an old study.
- 48:08That's 2018.
- 48:10Look at how quickly this needle is moving.
- 48:14That was eight years ago.
- 48:18Eight years ago, this study was done and look at how far we've come.
- 48:24Not in a good way.
- 48:28So the APA task force on the sexualization of girls is another one.
- 48:32The American Psychological Association, the APA, it established early on that the sexualization of girls leads to severe consequences.
- 48:44Modern researchers continuously build on the APA's framework.
- 48:49They conclude that self-objectification resulting from social media directly correlates with three major mental health crises in young women.
- 48:59Number one, severe body shame.
- 49:01Number two, eating disorders, and number three, depression.
- 49:07I mean, this is what's happening right now.
- 49:14And there's a tremendous pressure for young women to conform.
- 49:21Then there's the threat of coercion and exploitation.
- 49:24That's what I was talking about.
- 49:26That uh ICE was talking about, but there was just a 2025 meta-analysis.
- 49:32It's called the Lancet Child and Adolescent Health.
- 49:38It's a groundbreaking global meta-analysis of over 120 studies across across 57 countries.
- 49:47It estimates that one in 12 children worldwide have been subjected to online sexual exploitation or abuse.
- 49:55One in 12
- 50:02How about sex torsion trends?
- 50:04Again, ICE mentioned this, but the National Center for Missing Exploited Children.
- 50:10The abbreviation is neckmech.
- 50:14It reports staggering increases in financial sex torsion.
- 50:22Again, the predators were peers, they manipulate young people into sending explicit photos.
- 50:30Then they use the photos as blackmail to either send more explicit content or money.
- 50:37Or both.
- 50:41So the ultimate conclusion, the consensus among psychologists, and pediatricians and sociologists.
- 50:50It's very clear.
- 50:52The digital environment does not just reflect the societal pressures.
- 50:58It amplifies, amplifies and even accelerates them.
- 51:03Young women are internalizing the message that their value is inextricably linked to their sexual appeal, and the constant quantifiable nature of social media makes it absolutely incredibly difficult for them to get away from that narrative.
- 51:23This is why the whole Facebook, uh, I keep saying Facebook because it's just when I think Meta, I think Facebook, but it's Meta is the parent company.
- 51:35Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, all of that stuff.
- 51:42That's why these lawsuits that Meta lost are absolutely important.
- 51:48They matter, they really, really matter.
- 51:53They matter a lot.
- 51:55So what do we do about it?
- 51:56As parents, as Christians, as parents, as grandparents, as guardians, caretakers, what do we do about it?
- 52:07Well, first and foremost, we absolutely 100% essentially must limit the time on devices.
- 52:17We have to.
- 52:19Never mind the explicit content.
- 52:22Just the studies that show being on a device really declines mental health.
- 52:28It's crystal clear.
- 52:30The conclusion is crystal clear.
- 52:37To let our kids just kind of chill out on a device and veg out, and it's their downtime, and we can come up with all the excuses in the world, but we can not replace face-to-face time.
- 52:50We must spend the time with our kids.
- 52:53It's essential.
- 52:56Number two.
- 52:59I think that we need to limit, if not e-limit, eliminate all together, eliminate all together.
- 53:10The use of devices in our kids' bedrooms.
- 53:16When we go to bed, that's when predators especially come out.
- 53:23And that phone is a window into your child's room.
- 53:29It really is.
- 53:33And if our kids are sitting on devices and they're texting with people who they think is their girlfriend or their boyfriend, and you know, it absolutely 100% could be a complete stranger.
- 53:44They would never know it.
- 53:46You would never know it.
- 53:46It's not the kids are dumb.
- 53:50It's just that these scammers are getting really, really sophisticated.
- 53:54They're getting very good.
- 53:55Uh, they're able to uh pretend that they're somebody else.
- 54:00You can now take a picture.
- 54:03They could find a yearbook.
- 54:05They could find a yearbook with your kid's picture in it.
- 54:08They could find who they think is one of the prettiest or most popular people in that class.
- 54:16Take that picture from the yearbook, put that into AI and make a video and make it very, very convincing, or turn it into pictures or whatever, and convince your kid that they're actually talking to the classmate that they now all of a sudden have a crush on.
- 54:36It's very easy to do with artificial intelligence.
- 54:38It's happening all the time.
- 54:40People are using AI to exploit our children.
- 54:46We've got to limit the time that they spend on the devices.
- 54:49We've got to minimize, if not eliminate altogether, the time that they spend on their devices at bedtime.
- 54:57At bedtime, they ought to be shut off.
- 55:00The best thing to do is to collect them, put them in a bin, lock them up, or whatever, so that your kids aren't even tempted.
- 55:10It's not even a temptation for them to get their devices out.
- 55:13But we also need to communicate with our kids, and we need to tell them that this kind of stuff is happening.
- 55:18Now, it can be kid appropriate.
- 55:20I'm not saying that to a five-year-old kid, you're like, yeah, you know, the kids are being forced into sending raunchy pictures and video.
- 55:27The five-year-old cannot wrap their mind around that.
- 55:30You've got to use age-appropriate language, but we have to have discussions with our kids and let them know that it is never acceptable for kids to do these kinds of things.
- 55:44It is not okay.
- 55:48You know, these young 18-year-olds who are taken to OnlyFans, I man, for the parents that are like, oh, we support them.
- 56:01I'm sorry, that's just not good parenting.
- 56:05Have open conversations with them.
- 56:08Be truthful with your kids, be honest.
- 56:12And there is a better way.
- 56:14We can avoid most of this.
- 56:17We can prevent it.
- 56:19But it takes a lot of work.
- 56:20That, my friends, is the hidden lightness.
- 56:23There's always hope.
- 56:24There's always hope at the end of the rainbow.
- 56:27You can find more out about my show and get all the latest podcasts if you go to the menu navigation bar at America Outloud.news under our shows or schedule.
- 56:34There is a hidden lightness that shines aside of every single one of us.
- 56:37When there's so much darkness that envelops the world, remember it doesn't take much light to expose that darkness and to ultimately inspire other people.
- 56:44Join me in being a light.
