- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're on.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is my camp report.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: The three YPC camp report for August the 1220-26.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: I was not in DC.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: There are no somebody who was.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: He is the host of Lockdown Dolphins.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Calcrap, how are you, Cal?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I guess you're fresh from this fiasco.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I am halfway up the dealtway in DC on my way home and
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: It got hot out there today and it apparently was the greatest practice in the history of mankind according to some in attendance, but I didn't
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then so see it that way although I will say I didn't think Washington had a better day on both sides of the ball so if we want to get that part of this out of the way to acknowledge that yes, but I think there's some helpful context as far as What the Dolphin's plan was coming into practice what the state of affairs of their roster was and that brings up a conversation about the depth that isn't is not available on the roster that is a legitimate concern for this season and plenty more
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, reading what was said by some in the Washington, not even the Washington commander's beat, but the Washington commander fan base.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: I guess.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: Burgundy and gold, 69?
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, those guys.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Judging by what they were saying, the dolphins face more struggles than the Marines did in the first two hours of the invasion of Yuljima, like.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: like today, like today was a sad day.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: It was, well, it wasn't a Monday.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess, you know, it can't be the saddest Monday in the history of the franchise.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the blackest Monday in the history of the Gulf's franchise.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: But it could be the blackest Wednesday in the history of the franchise.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think that's going to stick all right.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just let's talk real football.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about what actually happened today.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, let's get this out of the way.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Any absences of note today from Dolphin's practice who did you not practice that you expected to practice?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Zack Sealer Jeff Haffley announced before the practice is going to be week to week.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: With whatever his ailment is, I did see Zack out there.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's moving around really well.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't didn't have any apparent ailments.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: But it's actually a little less as week to week.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he was not type of hard participant.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Dante Trader, Judeo-Brens.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's off of the starting secondary.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: Guess what?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: When we got the team periods, Chris Johnson didn't participate either.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: So, if you're wondering why the commanders had all this room to throw the football, wow, oh my God.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's because there's shots that wasn't playing and Jesus' friends wasn't playing and Dante Trader wasn't playing.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: So, that doesn't help with that part of this evaluation from today's practice.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: And first in look like there was anything serious with him, he had helmet on the sideline and he was talking with the guys and talking at a standing gauge.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: His guys are coming out to field, but we had Ethan Robinson, Miles Battle
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Major burns at one point on first-team defense with the starting front set.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not optimal.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Suboptimal.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I would say.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: So body language wise, Chris Johnson had his helmet.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: I heard that correctly.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: So yes.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: So we're not jumping off of buildings yet.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't know.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't look like anything of major concern.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see him get any
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: notice he was not in the team pairs.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: And when I found him, he was standing on the sideline with his helmet in his hand.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: Did you watch one of ones?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Why receivers versus cornerbacks and defensive backs or did you watch the offensive line go against the defensive line?
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: I watched the
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: The trenches were on either side of the field.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I really watch the dolphins offensive line and they're one-on-ones against the commander's defensive line.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: I call it a handful of reps from the far side of the field around the sea of bodies.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: So we were field level, right?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: And field level is great for access as far as getting up close to the action as it's happening.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't help your sight lines when there's
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Effectively, four fields being in use at one point in time and then two fields with each path.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you just kind of have to make that executive decision to I am going to watch this and it was Dolphin's O-Line Commanders D-Line 101's.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: All right, for what you saw, and we talked about we talked a little bit about this in person last week that it's time to to start seeing Patrick Paul not that our expectations are tempered summer or at all like we do expect him to become a proble type player if not all pro down the down the line, did he take a step forward in that regard as far as dominating in practice.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, first rep, he had the, I think it was Odafe, Owe, he had him run the outside arc and he ran him along the loop and it went way around for Owe to kind of run the full circle around them to where the quarterback would be and then on the second one, he tried to stand outside and pin inside and and kind of got him.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: uh... plant with his inside hand and and wrote him down into the pile and and pushed him out the other side was y'all and we got to hear some of that patented pat Paul trash talk which was going said he wanted to know where you go and he said we're going and uh... you he was feeling it so uh... i definitely thought pat Paul in the the old line d line one on one uh... had it two very strong reps against a very highly paid high-caliber past russia and odoffio
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, that's that's good to hear.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And that's something that we kind of expect going forward.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: The rookie Kate and Proctor did his development and did his, uh, continued dominance.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like I, I just, at this point, we got to call it dominance.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: At least in the one at one period, his continued dominance did that continue today.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he lost his first rep pretty clean to Javankin law, who hit him with an inside counter.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: And then he came back on the very next rep and he adjusted.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: And he got his hands set and he forced the rush to go around the outside arc.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: And was very good with his anchor, was very controlled with his cadence and his feet.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was a huge win for Proctor after what was like, okay, that got you on the first one.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: He turned around and bounced back very quickly.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: And to finish up here with the offensive line, Jonas of Inaia, anything of note with him and follow up to that, the new guy, Kate and Wallace, how did he do?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: So Wallace is, uh, he said it was the first tackle reps. And in the, his post game of post practice field, he said it was his first tackle reps.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: He had taken in a year and a half.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: And the first one was kind of not a lot of contact running through the contact window,
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you're forcing him past the launch point of the quarterback to kind of mark that as a win, but then when he came back with his second one, he actually anchored really well, tries to get it with an inside counter and latch his hands.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: And Jonah was kind of the same thing as Proctor, where the first rep was a bad loss work to rompane kind of ran right through and with like a chop club.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then on the second one, he did a much better job of framing and forcing the rush to go through one half of him.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I thought he did very well with his second rush.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then Kate Wallace actually had a rep to, now I'm sitting here thinking about it.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: As I'm staring at the back of the bumper of this white Chevy truck in front of me wondering if the tailgate's going to fall down.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: you get your hands up on the pads and you use his momentum against him and you kind of trap him and pull him into the ground and Kade Malls had one of those which is kind of a savvy hand usage tech and I'm excited to see what he's capable of being at tackle for the dolphins.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, moving off of the offensive line, let's move over to the defensive line, it sounds like, you know, even though, you know, if you read enough of what was written on Twitter, like the dolphins just got absolutely annihilated today, but one guy that didn't, and I'm fond of saying like the team could go 5 and 12, but there's a few guys on this team that could go 12 and 5, I think Devon HN is one of those, another one could be chop robbers and he could make himself a lot of money this season, I already was good today.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: Is that true or what did you observe?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought Chop now.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: He went back and forth a little bit with Josh Connerley as far as Connerley had his handful of wins.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I thought Chop and generally speaking in the run game,
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: the entire front for Washington had their hands full with Miami and that includes chop in the run game as far as getting up on the edge and a hurry with kind of that penetration ability and an upfield explosiveness that he has I thought that was a big strength for chop.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: pass rushing.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: There were some reps where he's getting Josh Connerley and he's running the arc against Josh Connerley.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's reps where we're getting the tight end sliding that way and trying to kind of piecemeal the protection when the slide has to go the other way.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: And he was not wasting a lot of time with those kinds of reps.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: He won those fairly handily.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: And moving on to the linebackers, Jacob Rodriguez still flashing, still looking like a
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: yes ball magnet he was was constantly getting down in the line of scrimmage fitting off the back side when the back tries to cut getting over the top.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he showed good range.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: The commander's ran a ton of boot, action, and crossers, and the dolphins played effectively base defense, where they kept their base defense out there, and they were trying to plaster that with these three off ball line backers, and Jacob showed the range, but if you're getting out leveraged quickly on those kinds of plays, the ball can get down to an easy completion short pretty quickly, and that's a lot of what, um,
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Washington consistently stressed you in that regard with how they chose to play this practice.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: All right, move it on to the team period.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: Would you say that they ran because halffully I believe he said somebody somebody quoted him as saying 35 snaps of of 11 on 11 is that true first of all to
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they played a lot.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: It was competitive, but it was a responsible.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: It got a chippy a few times.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was Jordan Phillips got really chippy with somebody on the commanders offensive line.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: And he was in their grill.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: And they asked them about it after practice said, I don't even know who it was.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't care who it was.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: I just didn't know it's an emotional game.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I keep my emotions in check off the field, but on the field
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: They got a healthy, healthy workload of the ones because they had what I think it was 14 periods that they ultimately ended up having when it was all said and done.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: So they got plenty of work then.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: defensively the dolphins could they get to the pastor how did they stop the run how would you grade their performance on defense today and did you see any major breakdowns I heard there was one very long touchdown David for owners reported that I don't I'm not sure if it was a busted coverage or I was just somebody that just got beat in the rush didn't get there so how would you grade the defensive performance today overall I
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: persistently other than chat like this is where for me the two talking points that I think showed up today for this practice is the Dolphins roster is young and inexperienced and they don't have a lot of death.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think as you kind of pressed past some of your primary performers, your past rushers that aren't Chop Robinson, I didn't think that group splashed a lot today.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously you don't have Zax healer, so that elevates Kenneth Grant, that elevates Jordan Phillips by extension, and that potentially elevates Zieg Biggers and Matthew Butler.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: felt like the kind of group that has, hey, we haven't explosive got to work with with chop, but if we want to really cook up consistent pressure, we might need to do so by dialing up pressures.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: And Jeff Haffley said, outright, before the practice, I'm not sitting here trying to dial up a bunch of pressures today.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: I want to get out there, play with technique and fundamentals.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: We want to let the guys settle in, see who can get off
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: So, yes, I think the concern about do the dolphins need to be prepared to blitz more than maybe they would want to.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see anything that would dissuade you from that being an opinion that is going to sustain itself through the preseason.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Because as good as I thought they were defending the run where there was really not a lot to work with in the run game for the Washington.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: The past rush has its fair share of questions.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, final thing, the offense, did they look like they could move the ball, did they sustain anything on offense?
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: I know that they were going to go pretty vanilla, even half of these sets of beforehand.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: So they weren't going to try to scheme anything up for this game to try to, you know, for this practice to try to just win and look good.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: But did they look like they could sustain offense or was it as bad as some have reported that Miami could not gain first downs?
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Miami's least-whelming- the least-whelming unit for the Dolphins was the Dolphins' offense, where Washington was really quick to get downhill at times.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: They blitzed a ton throughout the team periods, and Miami's just kind of- they're obviously not checking at the line.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: As skirmish, they're not adjusting.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: uh... and get down hill and i think that really stood out with the backers was those backers were whether they were rumblets is or whether or not they were keen on something they were slashing into the backfield and the dolphins didn't whole a lot of what you would expect to be some of the uh... just been so for that i will say some of the best all of the best plays in the passing game were recipients of of k-lub Douglas
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think his continued emergence is a rose amongst the thorns for what the talking points will be for this this unit offensively in this game for this practice, but He had a deep corner out in the team period They had a final offensive possession that started on the plus 25 trying to get into the end zone for a score with less than a minute left on the game clock and they had a
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: kind of a crossing route that is a contest to catch the Kayla Douglas as a guy draped on his back and he finishes the catch to catch point.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: They had another one that was kind of a glance off of one of those play action passes that we were used to seeing the dolphins run a lot of in the last couple years.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: That is an inbreaker into the teeth of the defense that Malik puts low in a way based on where he could thread it between the zones and Kayla Douglas goes down low and digs that one out for what would have been 15 plus yards.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: Douglas is he I'm at the point where I'm I'm getting pretty close to say he's legit and not just like long term legit like legit might be the guy in the passing offense this year for wider silver because as good as he was I thought Malik Washington had one of his
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: least impressive days or he had a couple opportunities.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: He had a ball that, you know, Malik tries to backshoulder him in a tight space and zone coverage and he doesn't work back to the ball and Mike Sandrecyl kind of jumps him and beats him at the catch point in what was kind of like a bang bang play and intercepts a pass.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that I think the league probably could have potentially broken up and then in that same final possession period, he had a deep route outside the numbers that was working back towards the line of skirmish that, uh, Amik Robertson had implastered pretty good and enforced in completion and then did that a lot of separation.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: So those were a couple of plays from as good as I thought Caleb Douglas was today.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Malik Washington kind of
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: I was underwhelmed by what he showed today.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to go to break and when we come back, we will take your questions on the other side of this break.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: But first, let me tell you about factor.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you don't have the time or you just don't want to cook.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I would be a great thing to have fully prepared meals designed by dietitians and crafted by chefs to live a right to your door.

- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Factor makes Chefcraft a dietitian design ready to eat meals so you don't have to choose between real food and convenience.

- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: Click on it there.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right, first question is, how did the pick six on Malik will this happen?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: You just told us how that happened.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: And you, you would chalk it up as a bad decision or just a great play.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, so sometimes it's a great play, you know?
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think San Rusil, he was in a squatting position in the flats and Malik was number two on the route.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's number two inside and he runs an out-breaking route and gears it down and Malik throws it on his inside shoulder and you know it's going to be tight.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: and he tried to squeeze it in and he made a living doing that a lot through the first two weeks in Dolphins camp against Dolphins guys and saying we're still kind of was playing the squad up in the flat and kind of drifted in anticipated it and jumped the throw and and wanted to catch point.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: It was kind of like that different route.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: Let's same kind of bang bang is what we had when the Seahawks and the Patriots played in the Super Bowl and they had the interception right down there on the goal line where
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: Both guys' bodies are kind of there at the exact same time, and the guy who's driving on it more aggressively and takes the sharp angle is the guy who wins the ball.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, and the next question you also answered, which is, who's looking like the more productive wide receiver so far, so far, Malik Washington or Caleb Douglas.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: So you really do have Caleb Douglas, like if you had to put money on it.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: You really have killed Douglas leading the target battle with.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's been the first two weeks has just been compounding more and more and more.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: And Douglas is the guy who as the size, I think he has the explosive verticality.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: And he's further ahead from a route release route break.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: and contested catch standpoint than what I thought he showed on college date.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really big development.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: And if it turns out that way, what an awesome first badge for John Erick Sullivan to just absolutely mush my face into a pile for a player that I did not see the vision that they had with, but they had obviously had a lot of conviction and he's going to have a huge opportunity this year.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: And he is getting more chemistry with Malik as the
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: One unit I forgot to ask you about and it's a unit that has been I hate to see that they say that they've been surprisingly good because they have some good players on there Including one that we really like in Greg Dalsich and one that I really like coming out in the draft in Wilka's Marick But that unit has been surprisingly good in my opinion during training camp anything of note from the tight ends today
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: where they were, was Wilk has Merrick still kicking ass was did triori make some catches in the team period?
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: What did you see from that unit?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought they were very quiet today.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see a lot of balls caught by that group and I don't know if that's just how Washington played defense or it felt like on some of the run reps, obviously Greg's back out of the red jersey and he's back out there so he's
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I didn't see a lot of consistent movement from that group against in the first team.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, that that's what I've always sometimes that's Javankit.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they got some big bodies that play out there.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, I think that's a good growing up lesson for those young tight ends to get a tasting of what that group is like.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I thought they, they were,
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: I was curious if they were going to have a prominent role in it felt like they were just in afterthought today in the grand scheme of where the football went.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we got one, two, three, four, five.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: We got eight questions that we're going to finish up with those.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: First question was Jonah as bad as it was reported.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: No, whoever reported that he was dead can go outside and touch grass.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: No, he had one bad rep in the 101.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's good to hear.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: By the way.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Next, the rompane play today, right?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: He worked it in.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: He was the one who who beat Jonah on the first one on one rep. That was just really ugly loss.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: You see what?
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's understandable.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good player, right?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, okay.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's one rep.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: It happens sometimes.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: I like the way about that.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: Next question.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: What
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: The run defense, so the front, I would say the front seven, specifically the run defense looked the best.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: Secondary looked the worst and again, I think a lot of that comes back to just some guys didn't dress like a lot of the 60% of your starting secondary was not out there today.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever you think the starting secondary is going to end up looking like, that's a lot.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot to take on and I'm not surprised that they had a bunch of spacing issues.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Marshall really were the the starting secondary unless they went to the sub-packaged stuff and they were rotate guys in it By the way, I like Robinson they like Austin who's right who's wrong?
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: What am I missing?
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that anybody's right on that one.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: I like Chris Johnson I like kind of Lewis like and Lewis
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Lewis Kyle Lewis had a good day, and there was a couple of reps earlier where he struggled to get off the blocks on the front side, but once they kind of got him around the playing on the back side and he was like the scraper for suit player, he had a number of really, really nice fits off the back side as the backs were trying to cut back.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought that was a nice, as the day went on, I thought Kyle Lewis played better.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'd rather have any of those guys playing the nickel.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're down to Austin or Robinson, you probably have more problems than your third or fourth string nickel.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, feels like it's been a while since we've heard about Kevin Coleman, how's he doing?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's still not partist.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he didn't participate this week because he's out for this week.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, next question, you already answered about Jacob Rodriguez and you answered about Caluas.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: This question is, and the 1111 sets the denors of disparity between the two teams in terms of play calling, where they going deep into the playbook, where both teams calling vanilla-based stuff.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: I would say one team was calling very vanilla-based stuff, and one team was very much not calling vanilla-based stuff.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's I think a little bit of extra context for why some of what you heard and read about Practice being the way that it was, but it's the dolphins didn't come into practice today calling the practice to try to win them
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: plays the score cuts down, but Miami very much felt like it was like, all right, we want to, we want to get these guys out there against somebody else and a value way to technique and fun amounts.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, four questions that we're finishing up.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: Seems like any G, that's kind of threat.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's how to quite can't compare the Jordan Phillips and Z figures.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: Are you concerned?
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not concerned.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree that like,
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: maybe you were hoping for more of a splash.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: But he did have two really nice reps today, including one where he got great extension at the point of attack and mitted up the running back as he was running through and wrapped him up with one arm and kind of got very physical with him and toss him off to the side.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: So it was kind of nice to see some splashes there because I know that offensive line is one of the question marks of Washington.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: All right, two more questions.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: This question is essentially asking positive takeaways from today.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: What are your positive takeaways from today's practice?
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Caleb Douglas was a positive takeaway.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the run defense was a positive takeaway.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: I enjoyed Michael Taff at the end of the final team period.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: He had a breakup on fourth down to a target in the end zone to knock a passaway and force a turnover on downs and assimilate a game situation.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Lonnie Johnson flew around today and was very active and got very physical as far as sudden guys up on a couple of occasions.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: So those are some of the guys that I would have as takeaways and chop Roberts kind of having, obviously we didn't get the larynx tonsill litmus test, but we got the facing a new team litmus test and I thought he passed that fairly well today as well.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, last question, and I think this is a good one, and I'll phrase it in my terms.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: Anything that concerns you, and anything that makes you optimistic after seeing what you saw today, yeah, I think all of the talking points about guys who can consistently separate on the edge, guys who are playing, man to man on the outside, like they don't have depth.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing that concerns me in the long term in the grand scale of what this team is setting out to start building.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, if we're getting there, there's going to be games where like, you're not going to have a lot of separation on the outside.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: you have to run the ball well.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be games where you're having trouble covering guys in coverage and you're giving up a ton of space.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: You need guys to grow up fast and if not then there will be some games that you play where you are playing on high's been difficulty just because you don't have the horses but that's not anything we didn't know.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know that it's like I'm walking away from
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: This product is with different feelings that I had before, if that makes sense.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right, and we're going to call it right here.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle tell the people where they can find you how they can interact with you, possibly on your sub stack, right?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have a sub stack.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Can you tell us more about that?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sub-stack is touchdown Miami.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: I try to do some film work there every week, try to put at least one or two written pieces out there.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: I did 62 minutes on Zayne Anderson's tape against Detroit from 2024.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_02]: If we count one, I know what kind of sick I am in that regard.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: On the Act Kyle Krabs on X, locked on Dolphins, audio feed, YouTube, you name it, and then I also do written work for eight of these sports.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we want to call it right here.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: The next time we talk to you, we'll be next week, practice.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: I believe we have a three, three IPC tomorrow, where we will preview actual football.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're playing an actual game on Friday.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll tell you one thing that always pisses me off, okay?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's freaking out about today.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: If the Dolphins first team offense against the, the commander's first team defense on Friday, if the Dolphins just completely smoked them,
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, not a soul will care, but they do care about what happened today.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, thank you, Kyle.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for being our eyes and ears and go listen to what he's doing.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Go, go, go, go, you know, go check out Lockdown Dolphins.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I listen to it every single morning when I get a chance.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: He does great work over there.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's it.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: There is no more.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk to you once again next week.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
