Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Lane, it was a tough 6-2 loss to Vegas the
- 0:03Speaker 2: other night. Just give us your thoughts on that game
- 0:05Speaker 2: and where you thought the turning point was for Seattle.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I didn't like the game at all. I thought we
- 0:13Speaker 1: played tentative. That would be probably the best word I
- 0:16Speaker 1: could put on it. I didn't think we had a
- 0:20Speaker 1: chance right off the bat 15 seconds into the game
- 0:23Speaker 1: to score a power play goal. Didn't execute. I just
- 0:26Speaker 1: thought our execution was poor. we've got to be better.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We talk about consistency. We talk about doing things the
- 0:32Speaker 1: right way. And we come out and we play a
- 0:34Speaker 1: game like that in front of our home fans. Not
- 0:37Speaker 1: acceptable for me.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Third period, the Kraken were still in the fight, quite literally.
- 0:42Speaker 2: What did you make of that response, standing up for
- 0:45Speaker 2: each other, even though that game was already out of hand?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Well, we have to do it. You know, I love
- 0:50Speaker 1: what Monty did. You know, we stuck together and we
- 0:53Speaker 1: have to do that. It's part of building our culture
- 0:55Speaker 1: and building our character as a team.
- 0:57Speaker 2: What does that say about Brandon Montour? He talks about
- 0:59Speaker 2: breaking his stick on the two-on-one, but he still owned
- 1:02Speaker 2: that responsibility, going in there, fighting Mark Stone. What does
- 1:05Speaker 2: that say about his character and him as a leader?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Well, he's full of you-know-what and vinegar, as my dad
- 1:11Speaker 1: used to say. And he's a character guy from that standpoint.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So that's one of the reasons why we put.
- 1:18Speaker 2: An A on him. Ryan Lindgren down for four to
- 1:21Speaker 2: six weeks. What's that next man up mentality? It's been
- 1:24Speaker 2: a tumultuous year to say the least for the Red
- 1:26Speaker 2: Wings early on.
- 1:26Speaker 1: They're a younger team, especially on the back end.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Tonight, with this first game of this five-game road trip,
- 1:47Speaker 2: how can you take advantage of the youth, of the
- 1:50Speaker 2: potential distractions that they may have, and using that to
- 1:54Speaker 2: your advantage to get two points?
- 1:55Speaker 1: I just think we've got to focus on our hockey game.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It doesn't matter what they've got going on. We've got
- 2:00Speaker 1: to be better than we were against Vegas, bottom line.
- 2:03Speaker 2: What do you want to see done differently? You talked
- 2:04Speaker 2: about being too tentative. Was there something? In your preparation,
- 2:08Speaker 2: was it the game plan? What do you feel were
- 2:11Speaker 2: some of the reasons why the Kraken played that way,
- 2:13Speaker 2: and what do they have to do here tonight?
- 2:16Speaker 1: I think we saw Vegas two wins away from the
- 2:19Speaker 1: Stanley Cup last year, and we came out tentative. We
- 2:22Speaker 1: can't do that. I just want us to play with pressure.
- 2:25Speaker 1: If we're going to go down, let's go down swinging.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Don't take a third strike.
