- 0:11[SPEAKER_03]: everybody welcome on in it is that time of the week shifted back one day because we talked to a bunch of open players and all that stuff on Wednesday night, but it's playoff time here in the state of Oklahoma through it's gonna say podcast will be here for all of it got myself Brian Chapman hanging out here in more America we got who's up in the night one eight John have you enjoyed your uh
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: You enjoy your like a week off I guess sort of as we took in all of the just weirdness of the past few weeks Yeah, just a little bit of an almost an open day field and then I think I heard one of the players last night refer to it as an open day And I was like It's not an open day, but it kind of feels like it
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's been a weird it's this is traditionally the time of year where you don't know what day it is at least for a sport try to just because we're not going the Saturday Saturday Saturday We obviously got together for the Emergency podcast on Sunday after the field was set Carson have had you had more time to digest everything college football play off
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, plenty of time definitely my schedule is a bit thrown off just based on when we get to talk to players when we're podcasting so everything's a little bit rearranged but doing well like who said not much of an off week, but definitely a different pace so I'm excited.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: that's like a course of field.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of rearranged, our good power, right, neighbor.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: Heaven I have kind of switched schedules a little bit.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_03]: I've taken most of this week off of radio.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Abraham has been filling in, right at Howard Studios.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: Is everything good, everything in place.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: Am I coming back to a clean-ish studio environment?
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think as long as, you know, Jerry and Kelly don't burn it down this afternoon right now, I think you'll be okay, but so far so good.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just glad that we will presumably be talking about other stuff other than just sure on more today because that dominated the air waves.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: For the last four hours for me.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, hey, you didn't know this former sooner.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's at number one two three four five No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, we don't do it once they become Michigan men and start cheating on everything I was whatever they become up there out of our purview
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I want my wife asked me last night when I was telling her all this stuff.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: She said are you gonna are you gonna write something I go No, she goes.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I mean you write about Baker all the time and you know former Seniors I was like no, what am I gonna write a sure on more who played in seven games when he was a sooner for two years from junior Got no nobody cares about that Everybody who cares already knows
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I will say, though, and it's fascinating that, you know, obviously, Kale and Abour's name has been brought up as a potential candidate at Michigan, and then whoever the newest Michigan coach, whether it be Kale and Abour, somebody else, their first big game is going to be against Oklahoma in, uh, in an arbor next year.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: While we can distance our self from a little bit, it's still a storyline down here as well.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I can't wait.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: We're able to know this yet.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're actually going to send him up to Michigan, and he's going to cover all the legal proceedings.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: But I did have to text who last time be like, so if this wasn't all you, such as, would we be at the jail right now?
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like, would we be camping out?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: I was just like, I hope not.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I have, uh, I was around for the Joe Nixon thing.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: I, uh, I've been in those situations where you're staking out court houses and jails.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Pits, pitsfield township is where you need to be Ryan Aver, pitsfield township.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll send you up there a week.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the funny thing is, I, uh, know a, I believe now former, might still be practicing, but, uh, a former judge in the Ann Arbor area.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, so, dial up.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Make you mad have to.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, it is nice, um, and I guess Oakland fans are probably in this stage up until a moment that Lincoln Riley left.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_03]: But hasn't been nice, broke Oklahoma fans to sit back and be like, man, there's chaos at Florida.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: There's chaos at LSU.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_03]: There's chaos at now, Michigan.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_03]: There was chaos at Penn State.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: And Britt Vittables has not made it onto one hotboard or anything, not because
- 4:20[SPEAKER_03]: Brickettles has not done a really good job this year, despite that one coach of the year award who names 12 guys and somehow doesn't pick the guy that was 6 and 7 a year ago and hasn't seen the caution well plan, but it's been nice to be like, yeah, Brickettles not leaving Oklahoma like this is exactly what jokes are going to never do wanted, right?
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: Part of the Allure Brettman was the defense and getting some this team ready for the SEC all that stuff now the part of it is that I think Oklahoma felt a little bit Scorned and was looking for someone they knew that be locked in be super loyal and I think that we've seen the fruits of all that labor here over Really this last month and a half through November who is the togetherness the culture all that stuff not worried about outside distractions not worried about coaching searches and they're just focused
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Full speed ahead on the coach will play out guess guess what joke stick Leon got when he got brim vittals he got a program guy
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a guy that's actually invested in the program and Brent is lifelong and might as well be right since he joined us such a young age from K-State way back when.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, this program we've talked about it in the past couple of weeks for sure.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: And that is that they've taken on the personality and the look of their head coach who comes in and he's grimy, you know, and he's gritty and he just wants to win and his voice is horse and he doesn't care.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he just wants to win and he wants his guys to experience the victory.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he doesn't care about, you know, he talked, he's talked, this is amazing to me during the season.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: He kind of hinted or at least intimated.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: What an inconvenience it was to have to recruit during the season remember that memories like yeah I'd rather be focused on the game, but here we've got all these recruits in and I love those guys And I can't wait to get him here, but I'm kind of focused on the game That's a guy that's just super laser focused on what he's doing and that's what that's what jokes tickling on one and when he got when he got breathvenibles
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: We've also talked to about how it finally feels like this Oklahoma team has on the field we say so often that teams are usually reflections of their coaches and things like that and over the month of November it's finally transformed and you're starting to see brit minimal's the coach that personality percolate through the team well Carson you and I were out at the stadium last night talking to a bunch of the guys we
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: Hit the blue layout, the media schedule here for you guys.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: We talked to some players last night, then Sunday and Monday will be the college football playoff mandated player appearances.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk to Brent, then Wilson, been our buckle on Monday as well.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: If you guys remember back to that TCU Black Friday game, we just moved everything up a day in the week, so because Brent and our buckley should go on Tuesday, they'll go on Monday, all that stuff.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: We had our first official talking to the players last night, Carson, and it was a couple things, one.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Brent Venibals, done often put much bolted board material out in his press conferences.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone was on a high alert, red alert for it.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_03]: Don't say anything interesting or anything that could be pulled out of context.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: But if you peel it back a little bit like Brent talks about all the time, the preparation of something like that.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: Carson, I think that the biggest through line from every guy we talked to last night was
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: Not worried about the rematch as much as just whatever team is the most prepared is going to be the one that plays bass.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's a big time Brent Venables details details details thing and that's kind of what my big takeaway is that whether it be last week's little like many by week or this ramp up period it's all full speed ahead on self scout from the first Alabama game and doing everything you can to make sure that you've done all the preparation work once you step into that stadium on
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'd argue that for the majority of the players we talked to last night, it was the most vanilla that we've seen a lot of them, which I think is a testament to how focused they are on preparing well winning this game.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: It also could just be their sick of us.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: They've talked to us 12 times this year.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's that, but I'm going to go with the former, um, I think Brent then evolves to who was talking about.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: He really does it and still this grittiness, this toughness that we've seen, even though the offense isn't very good,
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: How the heck are they winning this game?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're still winning this game or whatever game that is and I think that's carrying over into their preparation to play Bama again.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can't totally ignore the rematch the stakes of this game getting to play that home.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they know that if they prepare well enough for this game that they can withstand any challenges, Alabama obviously being a very good team despite looking outmatched in the SEC Championship game and despite OU winning in Tuscaloos earlier last month.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: So it really is, it just seems like they're very just
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Disciplined in their approach.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like it's easy to get on your high horse when you make it to somewhere like The spot of being a host in the first round of the playoff, but I feel like they're just really locked in
- 9:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really curious once we get the ball rolled out on Friday, I guess, that's going to be when we can really determine this.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: But you mentioned that Carson Alabama SEC championship game.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I think for every school in the SEC, and I think for Ohio State Indiana, the conversation of the conference title games, meaning a little bit less.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that registers like to win an SEC championship is like a big time accomplishment for Ohio State Indiana.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: That was two 12 and no teams, clashing things like that.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: Alabama and extra week of wear and tear and extra week of being pretty banged up.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: You see in the Anna one of their best offensive players go down not by playing a football game But by like a freaky incident high five and fans on the way back to the locker room coming out of the stadium and and then you get to look at hey Oklahoma
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: Another couple of weeks, another couple of chances for Armace and Thomas to get back fully healthy.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Another couple of weeks for Xavier Robinson and Tory Blaylock to heal up another couple of weeks for John Metzier to kind of build that confidence too.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_03]: But I almost wonder if it's like because Alabama lost the SSC Championship game, it's hard to do this because in hindsight, it's like if you want the game then great, you probably have a buyer or something like that.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: But because they lost the SSC Championship game, I do wonder if Oklahoma has like a mini
- 10:27[SPEAKER_03]: with what Alabama's gone through and in a big, rash re-injuries is going to be almost replicate the fact that OU went into last, the first matchup coming off of a bi-week while LSU is having to, or Aldo is having to worry about LSU and all that.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of it makes it for an inching dynamic with an Alabama team that suddenly feels a little bit more
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they ever were invincible but a lot less of a threat when you compare that the first time Alvin was riding hij on off all these ranked wins and all that stuff in a row right before getting to LSU and then Oklahoma.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that works both ways, the Ryan.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you might be the more rested team, but think about the CFP last year, the team that went into the CFP and hosted and played a first round game, they ended up beating the team that was rested in the quarter finals.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: you know i think it matters a little bit and i think it matters like here and there like to some of the players and some of the coaches and some of the families but not all hard to paint a broad brush there so now this this thing's going to come down to who prepared better um who took more from the previous game you know and and is able to replicate it or fix it in some cases um if if Alabama gets doubles up Oklahoma and total yards again I don't think they're going to turn the football over could happen certainly could happen but
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be about who executes better, who's quarterback has the fewest turnovers, stuff like that.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_03]: And that's certainly, I know, Eli Bowen, who I wrote about this morning, Ocompsuresonesside.com, Abraham.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_03]: He was a guy that we go back and we look at this Oklahoma defense performance.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, yeah, they give up the yards.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: But if you look at it, 21 points to Alabama on 75 plays, basically 25 plays to get into the end zone, you're going to love that all the Tardovers, and really what they did in the second half.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: They had the first long drive Alabama to it, but after that, really lock it down until you got to the
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: kind of weird.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: She was a lot of plays, decent amount of yards, but they weren't really going anywhere that kind of thing.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: I found it interesting that Eli Bowen's first, he was like, yeah, I've got two straight picks against Bam.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_03]: I had to pick six.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: That's great.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I need to play a lot better and there's a lot of guys on the deepens that feel that way.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe, I don't know, it was just kind of odd to hear that, but like it makes sense too in some ways.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think you can look at a, you know, a couple different ways.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: You just look at raw yardage and the numbers of tie Simpson put up, they were really good outside of the interceptions obviously, but you know, Oklahoma played really well defensively when they really needed to.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: They made the plays at the opportune times and that's really what this defense has been about.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to come down to a lot to one, how much they can get after tie Simpson, make him uncomfortable, you know, been some talk about.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: how healthy Ty Simpson is or isn't at this point.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: He, whatever the reason is, he's clearly been a different player post-Oklahoma than he was before Oklahoma.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can get him rattled, you know, you can have some success against an Alabama team that, yes, we anticipate them having, you know, they're running backs back.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: But still, running for minus three yards in the SEC championship game, not something that you can do and expect to win football games on and Oklahoma certainly got a fantastic run defense there.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: But if you can limit Ryan Williams, Jeremy Bernard, keep them for making those big game breaking plays, then you can have success against his Alabama offense.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to find something offensively yourself.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: to be able to build some momentum there, but I also want to go back to what Hoover was talking about about time off the playoff last year, things like that.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think the difference is first round to the quarter finals of the playoff you're talking about a team that's coming off a victory.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: and building some momentum and feeling really good about themselves.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: This time, Alabama is coming off a, you know, just thrashing at the hands of Georgia.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's a little bit different.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: Now, there are some things about, you know, injury and recovery and just sustainability.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: When you talk about the flow of a season,
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: that hold true, but I think it's a little bit of both sides of things there.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think on balance, I'd probably rather be in OU shoes and you know, coming off a couple of weeks off and being able to get armace and Thomas a little bit healthier.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Some of those other guys, things like that,
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's an interesting dynamic, and I also think as this playoff expands, at what point do we start talking about conference championship games and do they really make sense and are they really, you know, necessary, especially in a conference like the SEC, where you anticipate both the winner and loser getting in just because it can hurt both teams, but especially the losers of these games.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think we know that the conferences in the networks would love to keep those games.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think that what you might see is like, hey, if we feel good about X, Y, and Z make it in, could we play Texas and Vanderbilt in the sex sugar game and make it a play in game, even though they already played.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: But,
- 16:07[SPEAKER_03]: make that something that conference is still get their extra game you get to build as a playoff to side or that kind of thing and maybe get some of the vibes you got from that Friday night American conference game but we'll see and it's something to with both Alabama like coming up a lot so it's something you wrote about Karston was that
- 16:25[SPEAKER_03]: Monday, the days will run together just about I do think a big part of the preparation this is going to be whether it be Kaylin Dubor and Ryan Grubb on the Alabama side of things or Ben R. Buckle and John Kuziasi on the alongside of things sitting ties Simpson down and sitting John Matier down and
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: How in these, you know, 10, 15 days that you've had to put on what spot you're in.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_03]: How do you erase the interceptions for John McIntyre from that LSU performance?
- 16:50[SPEAKER_03]: Or how do you just mentally wipe really the last three weeks for Ticeps?
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: And since the Oklahoma game, a couple of picks gets what was an Easter Illinois.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_03]: You wouldn't grate against the Auburn.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly everyone was bad against Georgia.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be this weird, like, as much as the prep that they're doing on the field and the self-scout.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_03]: For the quarterbacks Carson, this is like a, uh,
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: Sports psychologists roll the couch out and see who can do a better job mentally getting those guys back to the peak version of themselves for this big-time rematch.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think if you would have told us in about week five that tie Simpson and John material would play against each other in the first round of the playoff.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think all four of us would be like, oh, that's going to be a heck of a quarterback dual points, points, that's going to be incredible.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now you look at it and you're like, which quarterback doesn't play as bad?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's probably the team that wins.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And John material, we talked about he threw for a lot of yards against LSU, couldn't keep a hold of the ball.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: their goods, their bads, but he did hit Satanian and stride, had that nice screen past the Deon Berkscran, and that one more being Berksa speed that materials passing ability.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of ups and downs with him, Simpson liked you said he was just incredibly efficient to care of the ball early in the season.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now he's throwing multiple picks against Eastern Illinois, should have had multiple picks against Oklahoma.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just, he's not the same player that we saw.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if it's health related, but certainly a speculation that I've seen.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think a big part of it's just,
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Which quarterback can maintain the flow of this game, which one can avoid the costly turnovers, find the easier stuff, obviously, protection very, very much needed from the offensive lines for both quarterbacks.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not going to be this quarterback just showcase that we thought probably, but I think I think both players have a lot of potential to have a good game out here, and I think that could be a big edge.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's also another weird, we're just having wild cards all over the place.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's a playoff game, right?
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's do or die.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: This is not something where you need extra motivation.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_03]: Like, if you don't come out, fight up for this game, you don't have a pulse.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we know that.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: But there is something about getting through every single practice.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: And how do you find this little chip for this little edge?
- 19:11[SPEAKER_03]: And somehow, some way, John,
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: Oklahoma goes out and is number two in the SEC on the all SEC team and players.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: They get 10 selections, only trailing Georgia.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and if we had asked anyone preseason, you have 10 selections, you're second the conference where I'd Georgia.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think that everyone's locker be like, there's unbelievable.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_03]: But the distribution of those selections, the fact that you didn't have a David Stone or a Grayson Halton interior difference in line play was kind of just ignored on the LSCC team.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: It was just like, Ed Droucher, Ed Droucher, Ed Droucher.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: This is no global difference that came out and the linebackers, Kip Lewis, what more does he have to do to get on an LSCC team, Peyton Bowen, like getting on it, but maybe not honored in the right spot.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of those things where you didn't need any extra motivation.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: And again, once we get to play off Friday, that I don't think that's where it comes into play, but it does sound like based off last night.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_03]: Lot of vanilla.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_03]: up until you mention all SEC whether Grayson Houghton just smiled and if you read what Grayson Houghton said it's like okay but you could tell Grayson Houghton smiled at me when I just mentioned hate you see the LSCC team Kobe McKinsey very vocal about the live actor.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I want to see an Oklahoma defense that has like any other extra motivation, any of the other will to go out there and prove a point to anybody.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you're right.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: I noticed that little smile from Grayson as well he's kind of looking like
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: like you'll see.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, how much motivation do you need?
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: You said there were 10 there.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: The AP actually picked another team the next day to yesterday.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: And two more guys, Owen Heinecky and who's out there.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now I forgot.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: the AP guy.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, anyway, so there's a total of 12 now for Oklahoma.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and what that means is there's six guys who made that first coaches team, who didn't make the riders team.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: So now that those guys that made the coaches team, they're looking at that saying those riders, those AP guys, they don't even think I'm good enough to be on the first or second team.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a, I don't know, it's like a double barrel shot going in this case.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, high to key in Halton got the AP9.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it was Grayson.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was just actually the LSC C9.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the best, okay, hands down the best defense in the SEC, second number two run defense, I think, which is like one yard behind Georgia after Georgia did what they did to Alabama.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best defense.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: We've heard all year, it's the best defensive line.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: We've heard all year, they have the best rotation of defensive tackles.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: Not one guy.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Grayson Houghton gets an AP second team, mentioned, and that's it.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not saying you're stumping for anybody.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just kind of like everybody else.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little surprised that Oklahoma didn't get more recognition on the OLSCC teams.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think that, sorry, Ryan.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that's one of the things that shows just how good this Oklahoma defense is it's really hard to pick off
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, who it would be?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: Do you vote for a David Stone?
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: Do you vote for Grace and Halton?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, neither, well, I mean, you know, neither certainly started all season, but, you know, David Stone, you know, has virtually come off the bench and ever game, but he's been so, so disruptive.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I think also it's really hard to gauge the disruptiveness of defensive
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it's different from the last couple of years where you've just seen Danny Stutzman rack up, you know, over a hundred tackles every year, because he's, you know, having to do a little bit of everything.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: This, this defense is not like that, and it just speaks to the difficulty of having to pick up just 11 guys and sometimes it's, you know, you go with one guy over another or just say, well, you know, can't really vote for either of them.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to find somebody else.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: but also talking about the motivation side and I know who view and and Chapman in particular pays a lot of attention to the thunder and the way that Oklahoma City has been able to find motivation sort of moment to moment during this season and this narrow laser focus.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think is
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: really similar to the way that Brent Venables and the Sooners, especially on the defensive side but you know sort of all around have been able to do during this stretch in November and now December in you know really narrowing in on things and and being able to find your motivation in that moment in a different kind of way from a lot of teams and I think that can be what separates
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: in the playoffs.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's obviously going to be really difficult, especially after you get past this first round, but even in this first round, but you know, they're doing a lot of things right from a motivational standpoint to be able to be prepared, you know, here, you know, 12 days in advance, 11 days in advance, leading up to the game.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: You're right, and I'll just say this real quick, Brent, has established a rotation and a competition competitive depth as they've been saying for four years and that's what they've got.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: The question you have to ask yourself is, if you're an offensive lineman or maybe an offensive coordinator or maybe a quarterback standing back there, which one of those four guys in the argues interior do you want in front of you?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right, that's that's my question is which one of those four guys are you gonna pick out of that group and say I Think I want my god blocking him or I want to take on that dude Good luck with that.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean all four of them are just animals.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean they've been fantastic
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: Their animal's been like, oh, by the way, you've got to pick our mason Thomas or Taylor wine or Marvin Jones Jr. or Danny of Koy or PJ on the outside too.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's the motivation that you able to keep in talk about.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: It's what hand up have I often made fun of Kirby Smart for this?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, absolutely of like the year that they go back to back where he's like, yeah, and someone picked us to go six and six and was like, who picked you to go?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what serious human being?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I understand there's a lot of people out there,
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: part of finding that is exactly what you're saying every you have to find different things throughout the year.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: It's why Baker may feel it endeared himself to like everyone in Norman, which is like, hey, Cliff Kingsbury didn't immediately offer me a scholarship the exact second of this happens.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: He's on the list.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_03]: I've got the list and all that.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's what we all love.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_03]: And is it psychopath behavior?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, absolutely.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that when it comes to super high level sports, we talk about the competitive nature of all these guys.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: And everyone, I mean, this is the most endearing way.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: The best guys have true psychopath behavior all over the place.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what separates them from those of us that just like break a bunch of shots at the wine.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_03]: Or just like, yeah, let's go grab a beer and
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody at this level is motivated in a way that, you know, we're not able to relate to athletically at least, in other ways you can, but I mean, the really great ones, the ones who elevate themselves to a different level, find motivation,
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: in spots where there normally wouldn't be motivation.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you just think about Michael Jordan and, you know, the way that he took perceived slides that weren't even slides and and turned them around.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then you, you, you look at the, the thunder last night.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: again, sorry to go back to them, but you know, you think about Devon Booker's comments from a couple of weeks ago that on the surface where if you look at them or beyond the surface, there were really a compliment to, hey, we know what they're doing, but it's really hard to stop.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: but Oklahoma City clearly found a little bit of extra motivation in that and a way to turn it around and I think that's what, you know, certainly Oklahoma football has been able to do again, particularly defensively, but across the board here during this run is
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: incentive to turn it into a positive force and you know sometimes that can be you know sort of made up.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: But it still can help you, and then sometimes it can be real, and it can help you, and that's what the Sooners have done.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds like you're picking Oklahoma to win by 49 tomorrow.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't say 49.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I think, you know, certainly, they've got a chance.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I also wonder about some of the things last night,
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: Grigarius or, you know, open or joking and things like that, you also worry about things tightening up a little bit.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: You know, was a little bit too much of that focus inward a little bit, but you know, we'll see how that plays out next Friday.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to be just a fascinating sort of storyline and something to watch to see if that motivation Rears itself or if it's plays into some tightness or anything like that, and then, you know, how things play out on the other side as well.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: Carson, one of the fascinating things like this team has some like legitimate motivation coming out of the first matchup like Everyone saw it almost felt like Oklahoma beating Alabama Which in a normal circumstance to take the road when it Tennessee and the road in Alabama It would have been everyone across country being like man this team and instead everyone was like actually the offense is an Abomination and Notre Dame and everyone should actually get in and she'll be Oklahoma's offense against left out and all that stuff
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think the local will have some legitimate motivating factors there and then the other part of it too Carson is you know that brunt venibles in that defense there saying okay we didn't good enough on the scoreboard but what can we do especially learning from the first half where Josh Kuebus the uh tight-in had 60 byzadiards in the first half then after half time you only had one catch and this is the rare situation too Carson where I feel like
- 29:38[SPEAKER_03]: But some of you get Armace and Thomas, even if Armace and Thomas is on like a snap count, but he's someone that was not there in that first matchup with all of the versatility Oklahoma has on the back in and their front seven stuff like that.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: I am really curious about this chess match when Kailin to board Ryan Greber going heads up with Brett Vinnables of like,
- 29:57[SPEAKER_03]: What is the selfish evaluation of what we think worked and we'll be able to do again versus we through this look at them, they're going to prepare for that.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_03]: Now we want to make these tweaks and things like that because that's probably what I most interested in is when Alabama's offenses on the field of technical misdeefence, what the chess match, what the hey, you had this and that and the back and forth is going to be for those two units.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_03]: Going to heads up.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's definitely fascinating from both offensive and defensive perspectives about what do they change and what does the other coach on the other side, what do they change in like how, what do they expect in like it's so hard we've already seen a team like you're kind of expecting certain things you're like, okay, I can game plan for that.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: We can do that better.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: But knowing how good these coaches are, how sound of football minds these RK, and DeBore and Britt Venables, both of them are going to make adequate changes and make things look a lot different on both sides of the ball.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I think, I mean, while there are certainly a lot of things that you can take away from a regular season mashup, I think there's a lot that both teams are going to pull out of the hat that they didn't necessarily show in game one.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: I know Ben Ardluckle for example, being the creative,
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: It rate offence of mind that he is.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's still probably stuff that we haven't seen in any of the games, not just against Alabama this year I'm sure we'll see some creative looks from him try to work with what material can do at this point and same with Simpson if he's Well, we know he's not playing his best football and if he is if those reports are true that he's dealing with an injury How do they make the game easier for him because it didn't look like?
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't perfect in the game against OU in November, but he looked a lot cleaner than he did on Saturday against Georgia.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: How does his limitations?
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: How do his limitations change their offensive game plan and how does OU respond?
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: So there are just so many different variables about changing and responding to changes, so I think it's going to be crazy interesting.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and who, when you flip that around, we talk so much about, but I'm not going to say these words, but he kind of talked around it in this way.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_03]: When you had the Isaiah State Department return immediately, and then the Eli Bowen pick six, which puts Oklahoma ten nothing.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: Whatever Oklahoma's game plan was, and I'm not saying they drastically changed it, but I do think that they turdled up a little bit and went into the shell and just said, don't give this thing away.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: We saw as soon as they came back home, we get some Missouri now, a shoe.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't like they were connecting a bunch of these deep shots, but they certainly were much more aggressive, no, and they didn't have a healthy saver abs and stuff like that.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm curious, your home,
- 32:38[SPEAKER_03]: The game state is going to be different because I'm not projecting the first quarter to go the exact same way with maybe there's an early defensive score and and you're in the same boat, but I'm curious to see what that balance is for Ben Arbuckle and we'll know pretty quick like how much of a workloads put on Xavier Robinson that'll tell us quickly how much
- 32:56[SPEAKER_03]: healthier Oklahoma feels there running back is and then from there, what does that do for jomits here's workload because it really, really felt like outside of one or two specific spots in Tuscaloosa.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_03]: It was what I would label a DFU situation for jomits here.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: Don't give the ball away.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: Don't come back to the sideline and go, oh no, what had happened?
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really, really curious to see.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_03]: Brokelet home it feels like they might almost be able to drop a new offensive game plan just because what they did in Tuscaloosa was so safe and so simple.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think just on the whole.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is going to be this game is going to be more of a marathon than a sprint.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: So how you start doesn't is not going to dictate how you're going to finish.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: So there's place to be made for 60 minutes.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see who makes the most plays.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: But I think what you're getting at is probably right.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: If Oklahoma can come out in and
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: successfully run the football on the first couple of drives.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the theme you'll see throughout the day is that oh you's gonna pound it and you're gonna see a lot of material.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I would expect material to have 20 carries again.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Was it the Michigan game?
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think he had 20 carries and I asked the 19.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, something like that.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: I asked the coordinator in the head coach and the quarterback as well.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, it's 19 carries okay with you for your quarterback and they all said hey we'll do whatever we gotta do to win the game.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt there in that mindset
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is that time of year.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: It goes all the way back to the stuff that material told us all throughout the offseason.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_03]: That was he trying to learn when to check it down, when to just throw it away.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but he always talked about their comes to time, whether it be fourth quarter, third and fourth down, stuff like that, where you just gotta put it on your shoulders.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think we've entered.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody knows this is the same for all 12 teams in the field, not just Oklahoma and John material.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_03]: This has become the time of year where all of that thought you can set it off to the side because this is truly a doer die and for Oklahoma they've been gritty and scrappy and grimy.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's about have you pieced together four quarters today that get you to the next one and then you can kind of like attack that as it goes the rest of the way.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you do whatever you can to survive and I think you've got to find some way to at least have the thread of running the football, whether that's John material or the running backs.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think some of that on some level.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: has to come back from the running backs, whether that's, you know, Xavier Robinson even at less than a hundred percent, whether it's Tory Blaylock or, you know, do they, you know, give, just Devante Barnes get a chance to revive himself in this game from either side.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just a fascinating match up all around.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: You will see what they're able to come up with on the offensive side, but I'm much more interested in on what they do on the defensive side.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: Carson touched a bit on it a little bit ago, but you know, Brent Venables has been fantastic at making adjustments, whether it's from first half to second half, making adjustments from game to game.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: in doing different things with his defensive pressures, with what he's able to do in coverages, things like that that have really, excuse me, kept teams on their toes in a different way.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a reason why Brent Vinnables has been successful over his career in rematches is in large part because of that, not only because of that, but because of that.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I think it's going to be really interesting to see how much different this game plays out from that perspective, just defensive game plan wise going in.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the, you know, reality is different for Alabama now than it was a month ago, but a lot of those same things still apply, but what Brent Minibles is really good at or one of the things that Brent Minibles is really good at.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: is adjusting two things and not letting an offense get comfortable against one of his defenses.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_03]: should be a ton of fun like we said related to that earlier we'll have plenty more opportunities to talk to Britvittables been our buckle some of those guys things like that uh here over the next couple of days and uh Jvante Barnes recently something we'll be asking about Jake Mike Glenn and his recovery process uh as well as Armace and Thomas kind of the two guys that Brentman he was asked on Sunday about you kind of just said you know we'll see we'll see if there's or any closer updates and in the playoff we will get
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Some availability reports that come out that schedule for that is Wednesday Thursday Friday now I have tried to look there's some things that because Oakman Alabama are the Friday game get pushed to date prior.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that means if there's a availability report on Thursday If that still just comes out Wednesday Thursday Friday, I've been trying to
- 37:41[SPEAKER_03]: figured that I haven't been able to quite get a straight answer from anybody.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll keep you abreast of all that stuff as we go.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_03]: This into this weekend, you won't have to be from an Oklahoma perspective monitoring the Heisman ceremony on Saturday night.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_03]: There are no sooners there, obviously, but the college football awards on Friday night will bring something
- 38:00[SPEAKER_03]: for Oklahoma, Tate Sandel up for the Groza Award.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: That announcement will be made officially on the Cauchy Paul Ward show on Friday night.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then tonight, Thursday night, you're going to get the 2026 SEC schedule drop.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_03]: We know the opponents, all that stuff, but much like last year, we'll know at least the order of those games, the dates of those games, then I would expect some time to believe last year was in June.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: You got the preliminary windows of like, is it a night game?
- 38:27[SPEAKER_03]: Is it an early window afternoon window, all that stuff?
- 38:30[SPEAKER_03]: So we are a 365 sport now college footballers.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_03]: So we will get the first bit of that.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I could just tell you right now, who and I tonight will be booking a lot of hotel rooms.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: 4, 226 that that's the thing that I'll be sitting at the Louis D'Oblesson.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_03]: They're like, okay, I need to get my merry out of count up for Athens and for games, all that stuff.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_03]: So should be good on that front.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_03]: just because Oklahoma football is not playing this Saturday though, doesn't mean it's not a big Saturday around these parts.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: We are inching closer to the Bedloom double header, sooner man and the Cowboys go at noon, the Cowgirls and the sooner women go at three clock both at Paycom Center.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_03]: Carson with the dudes up first, let's start there.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: a disastrous first half, disastrous like first five minutes in phoenix can Arizona state kind of dulls the luster of this little run that they've been going on, but if you can come away at a bedlam against local estate team that's off to their best start since 09 or 07, still being all that stuff, we can take the step back and go.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_03]: We asked them to go 3 and 1 in this stretch with Market, Wakeforce, Arizona State, Oklahoma State.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_03]: And as ugly as it was really, really early against ASU, you get the win.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: You're still 3 and 1.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_03]: And you can get two thumbs up as the last big check mark before SEC play gets going.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was really, yeah, ugly is the best way to put that game against St.ess, you all in Saturday.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: 27 to two run for the Sun Devils in the first half.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, for power, conference opponents, playing against each other, that's unheard of.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: That is remarkably just dominant stretch of the game.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: And it was really discouraging to see for sooner fans after they looked so good against Wake Forest.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: That was the first time of the year that I thought, okay, this looks like a really good basketball team.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: went into Wake Forest's road game, not a neutral game or road game, took care of business and looked good in both offense, defense, down low, they looked really good and then they found a way against Marquette, they weren't as great as they were against Wake Forest in that game, but that was still a good performance, found a way late, which is what good teams do, so it felt like there was a lot of upward momentum.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: And that just all kind of evaporated the fears on a state game, losing by double digits, obviously the disastrous first half.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it is a big game going against an old rival like Oklahoma State, a much improved team from when these teams played last year at the Paycom Center.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: So getting a win would be huge would build.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: not only resume but momentum, the three games after this before SEC player fairly easy, so those should be wins, so getting this win before going into less of a gauntlet this here, the SEC is not as good, getting a win against a good Oklahoma state team would be massive.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't think if you're talking about Xavier Brown and Nigel Pat going one for nine from deep, that's not the path forward for Oklahoma.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_03]: Terran Reed didn't have to be like a five of seven guy, but it could go over seven from the floor.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's not a path forward for Oklahoma and I think we've seen
- 41:34[SPEAKER_03]: Kai Rogers looks like coming off the injury he has struggled maybe with like playing a little bit banged up and in the pace of the game if Mowagi gets into the foul trouble early.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like, of course, is that like as simple as the big difference between maybe this Jekyll and Hyde early season stuff?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's like if Mow can stay out of foul trouble and unlock something for the so-called home team, if he gets into foul trouble early, then it's just kind of a headache and some of the issues we've seen out of Porter and OU teams really even go back to the Laundays where if you don't
- 42:03[SPEAKER_03]: A big, it makes life really really hard, especially in the leagues like the Big 12 and certainly with the SEC is now.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Mowagi, when he is not in foul trouble, was so affected out there, great defender, just such a big presence down low.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: And Saturday was the first time that he truly fouled out of a game, he was in foul trouble in games against Gonzaga and Nebraska, both of which they lost so I mean.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say it's just a perfectly correlated trend, but it definitely is a big factor in why they're less effective down low.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're less effective defensively when Mogee is not on the floor.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's not able to be on the floor because one more and he's probably done for the game.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: that was big against the sun that was it felt like whenever they did get a little momentum they'd just get beat down.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: Loader was no one to protect the ram and ASU would just be able to kind of keep its pace when it seemed like OU was clawing back into it.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I think finding the way he's still a young play.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a young player, but he's still new to this program, so just kind of getting that coaching to him being aggressive, but not being fall heavy.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be huge for this team.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: Massive game there in the first one, the second game gonna be an absolute shootout.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_03]: We know the pace that Jeannie Baronscheck in these suitors like to play at.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like they're just ramping that up as Alia Chavez gets more and more comfortable and feels like Peyton Verholst is refining her way and what is this specific team need?
- 43:31[SPEAKER_03]: We know what Reggie Bears is and Sahara Williams is going to bring.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_03]: Oklahoma State team coming in, Abraham.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: This is not been a great matchup for J.C. Hoy going up against Shini Baronshack.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_03]: More fight has been shown after games by the Cowgirl team when it pertains to being upset that a team wins something on your floor.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_03]: You saw like they've been closer to like making things interesting there than they actually have in these games, but it's an OSU team that is
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: believe it's 12th and 3.0 attempts per game and 13th in the country and 3.0 percentage that may be flip flop.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: Either way, top 15 in both 3.0 attempts, 3.0 percentage.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: They want to get up and run.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_03]: Both of these teams, the way that they want to play, I don't think there's going to be like a big stylistic difference.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: Is this the rare moment where we see Oklahoma?
- 44:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm using like,
- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: We're grading on a curve here, Oklahoma slowing the game down is still not slowing the game down, but by feeding Reagan beers and say our website, they'll come actually like maybe try to slow this game down a bit and just say, let's press the advantage and make Oklahoma state show that they can do anything against Reagan beers.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you've sort of got to.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's the, uh,
- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, the difference maker in this thing, at Oklahoma State has slowed down a little bit as far as, you know, chuck it up a ton of threes, you know, early in the season, they were leading the country, I believe, in three point three pointers made.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: They've slowed down a little bit there, but they haven't slowed down really scoring wise.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: They're, I believe, second nationally in scoring per game, Oklahoma Ford.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: So this will be a fun game to watch.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't anticipate Oklahoma slowing it down a ton.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: But Jenny Barron should talk about this last week trying to find ways to get Reagan beers more involved and more assertive sort of from the jump offensively.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Oklahoma will make a point of that, especially against an Oklahoma state team that wants to, you know, turn up the pace on you.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think that'll help the Oklahoma side.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: But also help that team moving forward to be able to win some games in some different ways.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I think this will be as fun of a better women's basketball matchup as we've seen in a long, long time.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: for the styles of these teams, the star powers on both sides of the star powers on the sidelines with the coaches, with the job that obviously Jenny Baranchic has done on the sooner side and JC Hoyt has done on the Oklahoma side, the boiling, not gonna say, well, there's a little bit of bad blood there between those two, so I think it'll be a really fun atmosphere
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: The schedule worked out all right that the women's game is the second one because I don't think there's any doubt about that the women's game is going to be the a more key matchup of bedlam on Saturday
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: I like to set up two games, one ticket, get ready in, you can get a full day of basketball, it makes it pretty easy.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_03]: So, it should be good there and we saw a little bit of that style switch.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: The last big game Oklahoma played that NC State game, which was an absolute thriller, being able to do all the chavez, it's a hero Williams things, to like claw back in the third and fourth quarters and then once you've got to overtime and
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see Satan really got into foul show.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, let's just hit the Reagan beer.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: But over and over and over and over again and see what that does.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_03]: So should be fun there.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: We'll have full coverage of that between Carson and Brady.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_03]: Carson will be there for every game.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: Both games, Brady, be helping us out for the men's game.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_03]: A winner will be tag team and the women's game.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_03]: So if you're out about at Paycom Center this Saturday, come say what's up.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: We'll be hanging out and around.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: But it's not gonna be like a dry week on the college football.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Doc, obviously we get Army Navy where we're just getting really accustomed to, uh, pay com center, Bedlam plus NBA cut plus Army Navy all like, gliding on the same day for us.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_03]: Before this Bedlam game, it felt like every time we were headed up to Tulsa for all you Arkansas, we were also second screening Army Navy is that good.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: So we're just getting conditioned to that.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: But by the way, I got a, I got a throw in there real quick, uh, Go Army Beat Navy.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be interesting, I think, though, as this week unfolds.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: with the Michigan opening now, is this something that, whether a rumor mail stuff like that or just hotboards, Kayland DeBours name continues to get thrown about.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: I know that he was pretty firm once he got to SEC Championship media day about that and down some of the Penn State rumors and all that stuff, but it feels like this is gonna be just another extra week and another round of weird,
- 48:14[SPEAKER_03]: what's going to happen across the country, the college football carousel, as we thought was going to slow down, has sped back up again, obviously, with some pretty different circumstances.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's, uh, who've, I don't know how much this affects the team going to play off, but this will now be like a month and a half straight of, uh, Alabama's head coach's name being in the mix on stuff, no matter what appetite he actually has to believe Tesla and head north or not.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree completely, and I also agree with Abraham.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love the Navy, I love everything about our Navy, but go army.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there could be some distractions, you know, I wouldn't put too much into the players.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: Players are at a point in their season right now where they're like, man, we're this close to win in a national championship.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care who the coach is.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they've invested so much in their lives and their careers in just the season.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I would be terribly distracted if I were playing in that situation, but who knows, you know, his relationship with a lot of those guys could be, you know, if he's interested,
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: But, for Oklahoma, there's one thing they need to remember.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wind or stay home.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's not winter, go home, it's winter stay home.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: They don't get to go to LA, they don't get to go to Pasadena if they don't win.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think I stole that from women's basketball a couple years ago.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_03]: Wind and stay home for the limit what they want to do is they want to win and stay home.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they won their second round game and if they lost it, they had to stay home because they were hosting.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you'll have that going I also under just these days.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's different for like an LSU from this year that you've underachieve your coach gets can and everyone when you get to the very end of the season I don't think anyone would be surprised or shocked if some of the conversations locker room is like, hey, let's let's peak around Carson.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think this even the cost with all of like five years ago now though if you love your coach
- 50:07[SPEAKER_03]: and he goes somewhere, finish out your season and then the second you're done playing meaningful games, you'd be like, if I really like coach that much and I'm good, chances are coaches going to take me with it.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like I don't know how much it's something that Kippin had kind of talked about when the first round start really started to kick up.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like I don't it's a different kind of distraction just because it is so easy to move around and and transfer it all that stuff these days.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: It is, and I think it's got to be especially distracting for a team like Ole Miss that their coach is already gone.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's not coaching in the playoff.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_00]: Turn it out to Chandler.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_00]: If he has an extra year, I mean, he's probably having a lot of conversations with himself about, am I going to stay here?
- 50:47[SPEAKER_00]: Am I going to leave follow my coach to LSU, so I think for those guys specifically, it's got to be a lot to handle.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_00]: Bam, it's one of those things that it's still a hypothetical like it's.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: you're probably lying if you're saying you're not thinking about your coach possibly leaving but you're not having to deal with that yet.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a less tangible, it's less of a like, okay, I got to think about that quickly thing.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to assume is kind of happening out and almost right now.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be fun.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_03]: We got what game day come to town on Friday as well as they're going to do.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think they said that they're going to try and do the double dip for Oklahoma and Alabama.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: And then are they doing the morning game?
- 51:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's my mistake.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and him.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_03]: That would make sense.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's not the TNT game.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: So at least that they can just drag everything down south overnight and call that a day get that whole thing set up should be good boys have we have we missed anything.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's been a weird schedule and my list of things is in great disorder today.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, thanks so just so we were gonna make fun of all the preseason poll voters.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, we can do that another time Yeah, maybe we could maybe we need to catch that a little bit and tell like the actual like once we get to the Ossies to be like here are the teams that were left standing here's what the preseason poll voters had and
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's shocking.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's shocking.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: I went through the list today and I was like out, out, out, all the way down the list.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like the coaches were significantly better than the, uh, no, they were just as bad.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: Bad across the board.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just as bad.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think that's what we're seeing a little bit.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of a little bit closer to the NFL, which there are cap mechanisms that help like worst of first and it's hard a year or a year, but I think you're seeing like there are some places that have like true stability like Georgia in Ohio State and it's what Oklahoma hopes that they'll be able to build off of this year.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: Then you have some places that
- 52:44[SPEAKER_03]: They're up, they're down, they're sideways and suddenly LSU goes from pre-season is not going to win the highest winner.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to be the SEC Champion to they were one of the first ones trying to find a code.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: Same with Pin State.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: Oppenational Stimified last year, quick to find, at least make the decision to get in our coaching search, but not.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think it's worth mentioning that Friday we find out if Carson's bold prediction comes true.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we set that.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so if I'm not Friday, if your bowl prediction comes through, my bowl prediction is already come true.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: The good half of it.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_01]: What a hang on.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: My bowl prediction, my bowl prediction was.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the bowl prediction was a job it's here.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_03]: When's the high has been trophy?
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because of that, that also means that Oklahoma is also in the playoff.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think it one contingent on the other.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I said, these two things are going to happen.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: One of them happened and the other one did.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_01]: Last night ten and two college football playoff was my bold prediction.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: I had to go back and look at that because I didn't I don't remember this stuff Yeah, I I remember mine because mine got uh just tossed out very very quickly I was thinking that Deon Berks and Jade not Oakland had two guys with a thousand all purpose yards and I say a satinian was there for me He was like
- 53:58[SPEAKER_03]: I got you, bro.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know who didn't have my back.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_03]: Demarchal Murray for not playing Xavier Robinson for the very, very beginning.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: So yet another person added to the list of scorn Demarchal Murray people would be me or Demarchal.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I just do your job, and maybe it would be okay.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_03]: We'll fight, like we said, schedule job Thursday evening, Friday night, 6 p.m. is officially windy.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_03]: Joshua Paul Ward shows starts.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_03]: I do not know where the gross it is, as it pertains to the list of all the stuff.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe Oklahoma pulls a Texas tech and this is what happens when new money works its way into college football.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: They don't understand how embargoes work and they accidentally release the butt kids video before they're supposed to release the butt kids video.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_03]: So great job to everyone down there in love it.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's not that hard.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: Bigger it out.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_03]: I doubt that Oklahoma's operation will do that, but maybe we find that before then.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_03]: If, uh, Tate Sin.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, when you when your program is the sooner,
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: that that's true uh that got to get out there early and got to put your flag in places that's not supposed to be we brought it all the way back around to sharon more in with that big thank you to Abraham big thank you to Carson and and uh who will be back
- 55:10[SPEAKER_03]: next Wednesday for the full preview and then obviously Friday night post game look for the post game pod and once we get to Friday night we can lay out either we're gonna be while the pods happening booking flights to LA to pass it to Dina or everyone's gonna be really bad at us and you know what
- 55:27[SPEAKER_03]: It happens part of what goes down here.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you again for tuning into the series on a side pop Like we said next Wednesday back to the normal sketch look for the post game pod all that fun stuff Because we got ya throughout the rest of the college But play out for a burger for car some poor hoop right gentlemen Thanks again, we'll talk to you on Wednesday
