- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to another edition of the nine or nois podcast part of the fancited podcast network.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: My name is Robert Morrison, a contributor and nine or nois.com and here with me has we once again getting to the well whatever it is it's going on with this team lately, fellow contributor, act as divadula, act as, um, has a go.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: get Robert can't complain.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: I can't complain about the 40 manners.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: You will hear quite a bit about, but you know, it wasn't a great Sunday for me.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm a little's worried about how get Thursdays going to feel to move.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Season keeps on shugging the wrong.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they tell us, yeah, so I think right off the bat, we should address the small, I don't, I sort of said in passing, I mentioned something about like a surprise for our next episode, like at the very end of our last episode.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that,
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: But it didn't really happen, or at least it's planned.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So OX has, and I actually got to meet for the first time this past weekend, which was cool, and we originally planned to be like, oh, let's figure out a way to record a podcast like in person.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: And the time he didn't work out, and we couldn't find a place to do it, and so it didn't happen.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're wondering what happened to the preview episode for the Jaguar's game, that's what happened.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: Just, you know, we, uh,
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: We decided to do something else instead, and so that that happened and then the game happened, and goodness gracious, the less said about it, I think the better.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: 26, 21, Jacksonville, over the 49ers.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: We had this conversation, I think, about the Cardinals game.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's like one of those was the score closer than the game actually was.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: This feels to me like that's probably true again.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like the score was closer than the game actually was in the other direction, unfortunately.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was a we're not going to spend too much time on it because I think we're going to be focusing more on Thursday, but my brief takeaway is
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: It is both commendable that this team down like Kittle and Vosa, only lost by five despite giving up a proper turn touchdown and having four turnovers too, which directly led to scoring drives from the Jaguars, and one of which like, actually literally like, yeah, exactly like I think one of them was just like,
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Interception defense force like gets a 3 and out feelable like textbook and then like special team scores the defense gave up like 16 points essentially you lost by five you scored 21
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's a good thing, and so far as it shows that the nanners have a little bit of juice, but like, it's a terrible thing because, holy, holy, like, what the hell, um, you know.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, for like four turnovers, unacceptable, um, proper turn touchdown, unacceptable, big plays unacceptable, like, just.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: That might be one of the worst games I've seen the 49ers play on offense and special teams.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like under Kyle Shanahan, and that's saying to a lot because that includes when like CJ Bether and Brian Hoyer and those guys are involved.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was a, that is genuinely a terrible, terrible performance that is not like like, flush it move on and he's played a close fine, but like, you know, that like,
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: They shot themselves in the foot so many times.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: And like credit to the Jaguars, right?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Two punchouts, big plays, didn't they had to do?
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: But like, just...
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Just terrible like frankly and so little of that I feel is transferable going forward because it's just like Stop being like this is stumbling badly.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, stop self inflicting wounds.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the other thing to really know is like special teams man.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about it.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was going to cost them the cost them like They got a They are like
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: They are what we thought they were a lot team with good players, they've been playing well, but injuries are piling up so they've less good players now than they did earlier in the year.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, they have to execute.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: They aren't good enough yet to not execute it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Game.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's really what Sunday showed for me is that like when execution is off, the 20, 20, 3, 40 Niners probably win this game.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: The 20, 24, 40 Niners lose this game for sure.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: 25, 40 Niners also lose this game.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure the 24, 49er score 21 points, be quite honest with you.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like just looking at it.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I mean, it's certainly one of those things.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you want to look at it from one perspective, like you were saying, the fact that they shot themselves in the foot so frequently and yet we're still and yet still had the ball.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: at the end of the game with a chance to win, right?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: They're driving, they're moving, they're like, oh, well, maybe.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then our old friend Eric Armstrong decided to ruin it for us, so that was rude.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: We brought him back and came back to Santa Clara and decided to do rude things to his former team.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that's not cool.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think you're right.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: This is a team that the margin for error is way too thin with this group.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think,
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: If they ever get to a point, I mean, they're not going to be fully healthy, right?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because Nick Bows has gone for the season.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: So at most, they're going to get to like maybe 95% healthy at some point this season.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll talk about that later.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, like if they get to that to the healthiest, they could possibly be then maybe their margin fair increases, but as currently constructed, and I'm sure we'll talk about this in a lot in a great great more detail as we get into the Rams game.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: There's just no, they can't put themselves in that deep hole and expect to fully come back and they almost got away with it, but they didn't quite.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, just they.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: They like they're each game has been subsequently more and more like.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy, it's like it's not it's looking a little worse and worse, but they're winning right so they're figuring out just I mean we went from like see hops came I thought they thoroughly outplayed Seattle and like just couldn't score to care of it.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Week two oh my this ain't so yeah.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they played better than New Orleans, but like not so much better and sort of just like did a little more cardinals game, basically dead even in my opinion, maybe an outplayed and just barely to care business.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: The Jaguar game like they got like.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: they were decidedly the worst team on the field like that's I think just true and they were still in it because like they're not a bad team right like yeah I think that's important to like stay but like they were worse and now you're playing the most important game of your season so far not only because you know the Rams are proud well beyond the fact that the NFC West is just over competitive this year and
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I expected it to be competitive and so far as everyone would be in the division mix, but no everyone's winning record, like Seattle's only loss is to...
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: to the 49ers.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Cardinals only lost was to the 49ers.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that they lose last week I'm in prison.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they lost the Seattle on Thursday night.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, never mind.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: So like Cardinals only lasted division posts.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle only lasted division throws Rams having lost yet.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's not true.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: They lost the ego.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to keep track of.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: I thought I forgot about it to until until I was like, oh wait, 49ers are still still technically in first place.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: So like,
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know like that's not a ton of losses and if they are they're too division right like it's tight It's a good division and like that means this game is important division games are important any game where you're in it You got to win.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean the Rams kind of got you know that was enough.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm ending like that's like Margin's a thin and you can't be playing the way you play on like Sunday and you definitely can't do that against Los Angeles because that's gonna that's gonna lead to trouble
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it probably will, um, so, uh, I think that's as good a transition.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think there's anything else to say about Jacksonville who, you know, they took care of business.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say that they were good in the game, but they did what they needed to do when they called upon.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: And now, of course, uh, in the wake of the first loss and
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: really an ugly loss at that, the 49ers are going to have a short week.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's Wednesday night as a recording.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: So the game is in roughly 24 hours, 24 hours and 45 minutes from the this exact moment that I speak.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Thursday night football in Los Angeles, it's looking like the
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: the 49ers faith we're going to do their thing and show up and and root for the team uh... here's the problem though oxas it's that's uh...
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: most of the 49er players have decided not most, but a lot of the key 49er players will not be shooting up for this game.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: There's certainly a question of whether or not a longer week would have helped them.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen any speculation about that, but the short week pretty much made it impossible.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like as soon as they were talking about players like...
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: not being available on Monday.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's with these short weeks that's kind of like the death blow for an injury.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's like if you wake up Monday morning and you're like, uh, this isn't feel right.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like every time that happens, that player ends up not playing on Thursday for the most part.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, short weeks are killer turnaround and
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: the Niners have basically been playing on a seat of their pants, sub-light.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, we're just barely healthy you will make it through so.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough one.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't actually know the full inactive's list, uh, uh, expected inactive's list.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm a little, I got, I got you.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I got you.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so this is an ounce today.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so the following players are out for Thursday's game.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Bill is out with a ankle injury.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: John Jennings is out with an ankle and rib injury.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: So he just keeps adding to his injuries.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got he wanted to get the shoulder and then the ankle and now the ribs.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: So he's just really rocking it.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Uh,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: with the knee injury.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Brock party is out with the toe injury and Jordan Watkins is out with the calf injury.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: CJ West is questionable with the thumb.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine that will just be based on
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: what he's able to do with the cast or whatever it is it's on his his aunt.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, that's that's the list.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty much means that five of the inactive's already decided it could be six if CJ West can't go.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, not great man, not great.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, big names too.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, one Jennings is like like the whole offense.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: They yeah, and that's
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's the way it goes honestly, unfortunately, like it's, it's just going to be going to be concerning, like Brock Curdy being out, also very, very, very concerning, except it's probably wasn't very good against Jacksonville, so there's a bit of a question of like,
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll see healthy at all.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, like should they put them out there, but I mean, without pure solid Jennings, I mean, there goes your death.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's just it'll be tough.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be incumbent on the Niners to sort of power through.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: So to speak, I think we'll see a bit of more of a throwback game from them with running the ball, which means they actually have to take care of business on the ground.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah, I mean, the fortunate news in that is that Mac Jones is good to go with his his knee injury.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: So he has set the start his third game of the season.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: We were really close to a third string quarterback who
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: has never played an NFL snap in his entire life, run an out there.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's not good.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: The 49ers, wide receiver, depth chart, as currently constructed.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at Pearson and Jennings being out, means that we have Kendrick Born, Mark has vowed to scaling Skymore and to my missing.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw this, but Matt Barrow's head is his male-bag thing and somebody was asking about the, they need a Richie James game.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: The call back to the, the Thursday night game, the last time when, that was during the COVID season, if I recall, when like three or four players got out, were out because of, because of COVID, I think specifically, Debo's out, Brandon and I, it was out, and Richie James just went off.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think they still lost to the
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel good.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's what that's what the season has been about.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just have to continue to be true.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like someone has to step up.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a shame that the division games are so early giving the 49ers sort of unhealthy nature.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: But that's the what I mean.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: I have very little sympathy for this team in the situation.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think like a don't blow.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Don't play as bad as you did against Jacksonville.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, this is less of an issue because you're four or no.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then be like, you know, this is a team constructed of players who get injured off it.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that is something that has been
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it just, that just happens, right?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, I think, frankly, like, at this point, I'm sort of over-personally, the like, oh, this is unfair, how could this happen?
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, again, and again, it's like, well, look, this is your team, right?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: This many years in a row, this is your team.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: So either like, figure out a way to deal with it or like, you know, like, get better depth,
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like just it's like it is what it is right like you have to deal with the consequences of the team you've made you have players who are getting hurt it happens.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's football.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not fun, but guess what you were super healthy in 2023 should have won the Super Bowl.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's the way it goes like, you know, like I
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think for me, and this goes back to something that, you know, you and I have been saying for the last couple years essentially, right?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's no such thing as a moral victory here in the NFL in the right of the season, right?
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think as an extension to that, there's no grading on a curve, frankly, in my opinion.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: like sure like you're not supposed to be a starting receiver to bad you're starting you have to you have to play to the level of like a starting receiver for the 49ers right like everyone on this roster has an expectation should they get called upon to perform at the highest level possible so like you know it's not great that we keep here so on to on Jennings aren't playing
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like Marcus Mandestathling, Skymore, Kendrick Bourne, Kendrick Bourne, particularly not a good game.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's on to anyway.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, point is, you got to step it up.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: You can't play like a wide receiver.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to play like a wide receiver one, because you're a wide receiver one this game.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: It goes for the defense too.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's not great.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's not fair.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's not putting you in the position to succeed, but that's down the fell.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that like,
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: just got to just got to step it up and deal with it, you know, like their plenty of teams that have injuries and still manage to win games.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners have to be one of them.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, Oxa's getting all fired up.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I like it.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is good.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: I like the edge.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the Rams and the other hands are wildly healthy for the most part.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Tyler Higby and Rob haven't stined.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Are the only two guys on their injury report.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: They're both doubtful for the game.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what if that makes a major difference in there in the outcome of their existence.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: They still got some pretty good playmakers on their roster.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: They're offence, I think, still going to be home in for the most part.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the one, if one stands out there, it's haven't signed.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're offence blind.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: has struggled in past protection so far this season and like not having another member of that offensive line, well, could could spell something for a four in the understeam that, oh, by the way, I had their, I don't think you, I'm sure you saw this.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Had their first gamer that didn't have any any quarterback hits or sacks in the game for the first time in like 10 years, which is wild.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Something they're going to need to fix like pretty like immediately if they want to have any chance on Thursday.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, past rush non-existent, just.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I don't know, like, it just, obviously, you want Nick to go to there, but gotta deal with it in my mind.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's a, I mean, 10 years is crazy, but that goes to show you just like, I feel like how, like, generous they can be with these stats.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I feel like I can remember games with the Niners have not had a past rush, but they still got a quarterback hit.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's genuinely like alarming.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but in spite of all of that, they had a chance to win the game right down the stretch.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the frustration that I think we thought we were escaping.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm 2024.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're we're we're right back into it.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: So it's its own versions.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's 25 25 25 version of the same thing.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think who knows.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't that's for sure.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's some.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: get into it a little bit more.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: We've sort of talked about some of these things, but we'll get into reasons our reasons for optimism and our reasons for concern, which are brought to you by our friends from underdog fantasy.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: Football season is in full swing and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Playing on underdog is easy just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like rushing yards, receptions, touchdowns and more.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: Get your picks right and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll go and kick it over to Aksha as tell us about his experience using the underdog fantasy app.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everyone.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've been using Android fantasy for a bit over a year now.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's really intuitive app.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's simple to use, you know, you open it up.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: You have all the different sports you want right there.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: You can go ahead, click higher and lower and whatever stat lines you're looking into.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean,
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: they make a really fun, it's a little bit of a competition, you can choose between different games, different sports, I think that like it's a great way to sort of get a little extra edge.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: So to speak, whenever you're watching football, you know, I love watching the Niners.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: I like watching basically every football game I can.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes there's a game you're just like, do I really care about this?
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is really interesting to me.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think underduke

- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was at www.nspgammle.org in New York, called the 24-7 hope line of 1-8778, hope and wire text, hope and wire for 6-7369.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Oxa's go ahead and kick it off with your reason for optimism, best of luck to you in that effort.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Homer, so they have to have a chance to win.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, I mean,
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: Even a fully healthy 49ers team, I think would have a hard time against the Rams.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're a very talented team.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: They're defense exceptionally.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: The past race is really good.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: But with all the injuries, I think like you're kind of hoping for a bit of a, like short, weak sort of weirdness to happen to everyone.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: That does happen, you know, it's a bit odd, but it can happen.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: really I don't even know exactly what to like say for like how how to attack them for this team.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like they're pretty like good at everything.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're top 10 and defense and offense and all categories.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think for the 49ers, the real question is they have to get the ground game going.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's just it.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I think my reason for optimism is that they can get that ground game going.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: short week means games get a little sloppy a little weird.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think the 49ers have gained a game breaker in Christian McAfrey.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: You might be the only game breaker on the field for the offense and the game.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: But like if they can finally get things going on the ground, I think they have the capacity to sort of control the game.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: Now you might be hearing this and being like,
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's not like actually something tangible from what they've done.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: They've been bad on the ground to which I would say, yeah, I mean, I don't know like I just don't like the rams have played well enough in every sort of aspect that like you pair that with the injuries, I really think the optimism is that.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers have, in my opinion, probably the most talented player on either offense, a place for San Francisco, a Christian McCaffrey, so the optimism is that like, that bears out.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he just is the best player on the field.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even like that reasoning again.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the one who's saying it.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, that's, that's exciting right there is what that is.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so,
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was going to I was going to try to find a stat to help back to help you out with your your rushing thing and it's just not I mean there are the rams are given up 98.5 yards per rush, which is
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: you know in the bottom part portion of the NFL.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: So we won't go there.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to hone in on also some non tangible things that don't actually make any sense.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: One was the the thing you're alluding to which is that Thursday games are weird like the and division games get weird, right?
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's it's it seems that more often than not these division games like end in kind of weird weird ways.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's the one thing.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: So it's weird Thursday night weird division games
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: might make things a little bit more a little closer than we anticipate.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: My other thing that I'm going to throw out and I read this in a couple of different places throughout the week and so I'm going to go with it.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's that the four dinners have actually been quite successful playing the
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you've seen this in a couple places.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I saw this in a couple places.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: This specifically, this rundown comes from our friends over at night or nation.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: So they went through basically since 2019.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: So 2019, they were coming off a loss against the, it was two weeks after, this was a couple of weeks after that, big that, that wild game against the Saints in 2019.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then they went home and they lost the Falcons.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: You may remember that.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: And the game after was a primetime game, a Saturday night primetime game against the Rams and the 49ers beat them 34 to 31.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now, of course, that's that was a team that eventually went to the NFC Championship game or eventually won the NFC Championships.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: So take that for what you will.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: In 2020.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a little, here's a little fun for you.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: And no Nick Bosa, no starting quarterback.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: And other injuries, they lost the Dolphins at Levi's Stadium, 43, 17.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then went and beat the Rams the following week concerning a football 24 to 16.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: then they lost again the same season to New Orleans and then they had a buy week went and took the Rams Nick Mullins won them led them to a 23 to 21 against the Rams so they swept them that year with Robert Salas defensive coordinator.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing 2021 they lost the Cardinals and Colt McCoy and then the next week went a month and eight football in Santa Clara beat the Rams 31 to 10.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: another frimetime game.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: So you're noticing a pattern here, 2022.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: They lost to the Denver Broncos that was that ugly game where Jimmy Garoppolo decided to forget how to play football.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: Step out of the back of the ins and all that kind of thing.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: and they ended up winning 24 to nine the next game against the Rams.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then later in the season, they got beat up by the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: And the following game was a win against the Rams at so 5.31 to 14.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: With Brock Party in the game.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: That season.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, again, it doesn't mean anything because those are all different teams, but it is just kind of funny that the 49ers in Kyle Shanahan's 10 year have actually had pretty and we know that they've had pretty decent luck against the Rams across the board.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: Especially early in their tenure, but it is kind of funny like they lose a game They gonna go play the Rams and the Rams cure it ailed them now again as you said That is not a tangible reason that will that they will win, but it is just kind of interesting Yeah, I mean I think that
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: For sure, they've had historic own age.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: It is neat, like there is sort of this like hope that like things will like rectify themselves.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to the Niners plane, the Rams, I will unfortunately add as a negative note to that recent history has been right next to our own age over the Niners.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know, it's, it's cool, like,
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think as you are hearing us, dear listeners, you're probably getting the sense of our opinions on this game and how they're going to go, which leads me to my reasons for concern.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the 49ers can't run the ball right now and all the players that they would typically rely upon when passing the ball are not playing.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: They can't rush the pass or anymore
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: like that's it.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's literally football.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's frankly, there's not much more to like say I mean so yeah if you want me to I can be more substantive.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: if you want to.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like the Rams are a top 10 defense in the NFL, they allow me 4.74 yards per play.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're top 10 and both rushing in passing.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers are generally awful like rushing team right now.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not even funny.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're 28th in the league and rushing yards per game.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: They somehow are averaging less rushing yards than the Rams are allowing.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: is not like a, that is not like a, oh, like the rams are bad at rushing defense.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's like a, oh, the 49ers are really bad at offense.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: They are 30 first in the league in yards for play on the run.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: So like, yeah, they can't run the ball right now.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: The good news, if you look at the stats, is like the 49ers are second in passing yards per game and top 10 in passing yards per play.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: Except they're like number one receiver is Ricky Piersall, who is hurt.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: They're number two receivers, Joanne Jennings, who is hurt.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: ostensibly their number one receiver during this period would have been George Kale, who is hurt.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: So the person that they want to be throwing these passes to, who they would want to be throwing these passes, is brought pretty, who is hurt.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: So like, yeah, I mean, offensively, they're kind of defamed quite a bit.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's versions of this team in recent years and past years were like,
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: would be less concerned about this because the Russian game would be a little more like robust and I think that offers good insulation for the rest of the offense.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not the case with this team.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: This team cannot run the ball and because they cannot run the ball,
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Quarterbacks have to do a lot of stuff in this offense right now because there's no thread of the run and the run is not putting you in favorable situations.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: So that passing yard number is not an easy 280 yards.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's a hard thought, hard burn to 180 yards.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: In the fact that the 49ers don't have basically the primary people responsible for that because we're concerned on defense,
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is the top five offense into NFL, third in yards per play, really, really good in the past.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, as she gets the run, like top 15, but not like top five.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Again, though, like that's precisely where the 49ers are gonna struggle now without past rush.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, like the Rams match up so well to the 49ers weakness is right now, it's not even funny.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like, we're asking for
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: players to step up in ways that they haven't done so far, schemes to be put out in ways that they haven't like been schemes so far.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: or like the rams to play just a fundamentally different way than they have so far for this game to go in a different way.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe it does, maybe we come back and we do our recap and we're like, oh my God, they play such a great game, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: But like, if you look at the stats, and more importantly, if you just look at the games, right?
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you've watched the 49ers play and you've watched the rams play
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the 49ers have not done well at the things.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: They need to do well to even remotely pull this off.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I just like, like, yeah, this is really a hard position for them to be in.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, they're four things you do as a football team, other than special teams.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're not even going to get into it, because that's like, it's an immediate loss for the 49ers, right?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: You run the ball, you pass the ball.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: You stop the run, you stop the pass.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers cannot really stop the pass because they don't have a pass rush.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: They can't run the ball because they don't have a good running game.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: They can't pass the ball because they don't have like I am here primary offensive weapons or quarterback.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: They might be able to stop the run maybe you know, that's the one maybe I put my hat on Yeah, I think they'll stop the run.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that mean anything.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, probably not because my effort will just stand back there and just pick you apart If you can't pass if you can't rush the pasture like he's just gonna be like It's gonna dink and dunk you to death
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: Frazier things can happen, and it's not like the 49ers have no good players playing.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like if we come and you tell me Fred Warner won the game for the 49ers, I wouldn't be super surprised.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's possible.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's a thing good players can do.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's a middle linebacker that's kind of crazy.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: Although you could argue Devon Lloyd kind of won the game for the Jaguars in some way.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: Neither gonna know there, but it'll just be difficult to see how it plays out.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, can't, can't argue this.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: It made me mad, unfortunately.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Look, if this were healthy team against healthy team, this would still be a difficult matchup for the 49ers.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: But then I think you could really start to get into, it would come down to an execution thing, because it seems to me like no matter how, like they could execute perfectly.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: but the quality of player that they have available to them on Thursday is not going to matter.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to make it so that doesn't probably doesn't matter.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: Is that that's even fair?
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, for the most part, I mean, we didn't give reasons for optimism, so there are methods by which they're right.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, they'd have to execute like 100% perfectly.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: And as you were alluding to somebody on defense is going to have to take over the game.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think that's what it, like, I was joking about the Richie James thing.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, somebody would, somebody on offense is going to have to do that.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: And somebody on defense is going to have to do that for the 49ers.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: And that to me is like the only avenue.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: to winning.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like is it's going to have to be like a monster game from like if we're coming back next week and we're talking or later in this week I suppose and talking about how they won it's going to be oh so and so destroyed the Rams on offense and so and so Fred Warner.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: the likelyest candidate destroyed their Amazon defense.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: He had like a pick in two-fumble, two-force fumbles and like just made their life awful.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like that to me seemed like it's just the balance of talent between the two teams as currently constructed.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think F-full health, this is the case.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: But, as currently constructed, the balance of talent is just twaise too far in the Ram's direction.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't have to execute perfectly to win, whereas the 49ers are going to have to.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the thing.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: I completely agree with that.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a it's exactly right.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's where they are and I mean like that's what happens when you're the worst team in a game and We've seen them execute well right like it's not impossible, but I don't know if you've seen it this year, but it's a part we've seen it at times this year, but not not consistently.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I would agree with that.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was agree with that.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: And even like the opening driving in Jacksonville right where they march it down the field.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, really the first two times they had the ball where they were the offense seemed oh, they're click on their clicking and then all of a sudden they have to kick like We don't we don't want to delete believe with a point in that particular game, but like that they win that game if they don't kick two field goals there Yeah, yeah, I mean like it's just a small little things right like they're not
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's not perfect yet, it's still like kind of rough kind of like you got to sandpaper the edges, but the problem is like those edges are what really matter because those edges are special teams pass rush red zone.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of really important for football, you know, that's kind of how good teams win games.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we're.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: Who would have thought well, at least they fix the kicking issue.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_00]: That is true and apparently Thomas more said super fast.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw that 20 miles per hour for the old old fella good job, buddy Punders, they're people too
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: it's all I have to say.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: Um, is there anything else that we need to say about this, this game?
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: I, like, I just, I don't know.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: You, you got into, you covered pretty much all the, the hard hitting numerical analysis, which again, as I said, would make this game difficult.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: at full strength for the 49ers, but I think we are both in agreement.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: They would be a lot more likely to be in the game and potentially win it if they were at full strength.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_00]: even the version of full strength that's available like if you took Jennings and Pierce all in perdi and and put them on the field like that would make a big difference.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: Or even if it's I mean no offense to Brock Perdi at this particular member, but he's the hurt guy like even if you just gave back Joan McJones his two receiving options like that might make you feel a little bit more comfortable about it, but yeah, I think it just comes down to
- 38:05[SPEAKER_00]: And again, as you're relating to earlier, this is not a like, oh, they'd be good if they were healthy thing.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the health situation leads to your less talented version of yourself right now, and that's just all there is to it.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, look, this is not like, oh, if they were healthy, they like crush the Rams and not on the meat.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, these teams are at best, I'd say like evenly mash a full strength either way, right?
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: And, but it's not full strength.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: And like, it's not full strength in particularly important areas that I think are gonna really like expose themselves to the game.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just like, that's the way it goes.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: The numbers have been beneficiaries of that before as well against other teams.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough deal, but it is what it is, and they gotta go with it.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well said, all right, well, let's go ahead and get into the predictions.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: The inactive list will be very easy, because like five out of the seven are decided for us, so that's a bummer.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll do this score prediction first, and then we'll try to predict two, the other two inactive will be.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: So score prediction is hard, yes, because of who I think is going to win, but because a Thursday night football game results in weird scores, and like, I don't know how much of a blow that's going to be.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to go with, uh, in my opinion, a somewhat conservative,
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: We're right in the same neighborhood.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: I said 31 13, but I think we're I think we're both in agreement.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like the diners are going to get blown out on Thursday.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not going to be any fun.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: All right, over under how many quarters do you last.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm kidding.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: It isn't it is an 815 PM start here in the east coast.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: uh... there will be some serious consideration if the game is over at half time where I'm like uh... well maybe i don't know um... little less problematic for those on the west coast or in the other time zones uh... but it is still late in friday is still a school day um... but yeah i i i i mean i think
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: Barring, again, barring any, but like a total takeover by some by one or two players from the 49ers, it just doesn't feel like it's going to be close.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, it's bad.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: So we already said, Jennings, Piercelle, Perty, Beal and Watkins are out.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: My other two is that Martin, who's Nick.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot his first name.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's been out there, so I forgot his first name.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan James and Nick Martin, right?
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: Is that right?
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: That they're going to continue.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: It just doesn't seem like Martin, like Nick Martin has a spot here.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: and less he can supplant somebody on special teams like because he doesn't really fit like he's kind of a one like defensively he's kind of a one trick pony at this particular point like he has to play with drag green liais or not drag green law where D winters is because he can't really like he can't step in and D Fred Warner's back up
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: like that's just not a fit for him, so his goal is to supplant somebody on special teams.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then Jordan James, who knows what's going on with the running back situation outside of Christian McAfron and Brad Robinson, I have no idea.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would give him a shot.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: Frankly, if you're not going to really let as a grander do anything, like, let Jordan James run kickoff, he's pretty good at that maybe.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: Who could you could be?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows?
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm worth the on the enact as muscle with you on maybe it's time to like, I don't know, like, I feel like pieces are here.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: They're not really settling in place.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: I have questions about the way they've handled like
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: kick-offs were the way they're handling some of the rookies and sort of like decisions they're making on like how they're prioritizing things.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: But that is not the scope of this podcast.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_00]: With nobody holding asses.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just leave it at I agree that Jordan James and Nick Martin will not be quite good Thursday.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what was I going to say?
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, just just another
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: that mailbag article was just like the thing about the special teams is that the injuries also impact them in that like think about it like a guy like Dura Luter who is called upon to start at quarterback this past week right and suddenly so now he's no longer available special teams player and so that's like the impact of the injuries.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh the other good news is that Ronaldo Green looks like he's tracking to play on Thursday so that's
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: good in that regard.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: So the defense can maybe get short up as much as it can.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: As much as a possible can at this point.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the defense may only reach like 98% health or 95% health depending on what percentage you put on Nickboast's existence, but all right.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: Any final thoughts on this one?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: How much does before we get real sad about it?
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, so there's a pretty
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: I want to show your code it, not a super fun time to talk about a very frustrating game and it's simultaneously previewing a game that seems very unlikely for the Niners to come out ahead of, however, yeah, a bit of optimism.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: Go for it, injuries.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: Eventually go away this year maybe not maybe we have this conversation every week that would suck, but then they get a high traffic and then they'll be better next year.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: So that's fine.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: But like.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners have done mostly what they needed to do.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Jazz game is annoying because I don't think the injuries are good enough reason for why they didn't win.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't win because they didn't play well.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: Different things.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: But like, they've banked important games.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: The three of them know in the conference to know in the division.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: They're still first in the NFC West in the early going by week four.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is a good place to want to be.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: You want to be three in one, right?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: You'd love to be four or no.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: You want to be three in one.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're okay, like two and two is your, but like three and one, good.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, there's a lot of doom and gloom coming from me about like this game, the last game, how the season is going, but this team right now, this team that is playing on Thursday is not the team that has to play in like the Super Bowl in Santa Clara next year, right?
- 44:53[SPEAKER_00]: here's open.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_00]: That'd be amazing actually.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right, like.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: Mac Jones and Marcus Robinson, liness, the Super Bowl.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, a drilling your thought.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, like that, but like you see that, like.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: It could be like that, but that's the beauty of this season, right?
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Is that like, how they're going to look in January and February and December, like, as things sort of crystallize, it's very different than now.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: And most teams go through bad stretches, right?
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this happens, right?
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the Eagles last year, I thought, like, started some, like, not great thing.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: People want to mix their economy fire.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: They had a buy that came out of it.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: One a bunch of games, boom, Super Bowl champs.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: The season is long, they're abs and flows, the manners are having hard right now, like, but that doesn't mean that the season is suddenly like lost and gone.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Just means that things might look a little ugly for the next couple of weeks, but that's okay.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: Keep the faith, unless more players get injured for longer amounts of time, then we will collectively lose the faith together and be disappointed in another season, but we're not there yet, we're not there yet.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: truly.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think you're right in in the thought like, uh, I think we've, the, the, the, I think Kyle Shanahan has mentioned this like divide in the seasons into quarters.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think most most coaches talk about this and you can't do that evenly anymore with the 17 games schedule.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: But like I said, if you do that, so 3 and 1,
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you do 3 and 1 throughout each quarter of the schedule, then you're going to lose four times, and then maybe lose one of the other games.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: But at least, at the, you'll lose four times throughout the season, and that wouldn't be the worst thing the worst outcome to finish with four losses on the season.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: So you try to just, it's, you know, the cliche, one game at a time, one section of the season at a time.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: This is probably the toughest stretch that they're going to have with this
- 46:54[SPEAKER_00]: against the Rams and the Buccaneers, not next Sunday, but Sunday after that.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but it's as doom and gloomy as this particular episode is felt, it's not quite doom and gloomy just yet.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, let's keep it up, right?
- 47:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well said, I thought.
