- 1:35master weekly topic, Series 5, Show 31.
- 1:41You ready?
- 1:41Master your choices before they master you.
- 1:45And today's granular is how wise decisions build
- 1:49extraordinary lives.
- 1:51Series 5, Show 31, Episode number 7.
- 1:57Yeah, that's a pretty powerful topic, and I
- 2:01can't wait to get into it with you
- 2:02because building extraordinary lives is pretty amazing.
- 2:06So welcome, everyone, to Inspirations for Your Life,
- 2:09the ever-popular daily motivational show.
- 2:11I'm Jon Seymourly, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist,
- 2:16video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate
- 2:21student at Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner,
- 2:26and so grateful now, ladies and gentlemen, to
- 2:28be a published author.
- 2:31So this week, I've explored how our choices
- 2:35shape our lives.
- 2:39Today, I bring that journey together by looking
- 2:44at the power of wisdom together.
- 2:46Wise decisions aren't made by accident in case
- 2:49you didn't know.
- 2:50They come from learning, growing, staying true to
- 2:55your values and choosing what matters most.
- 2:59So let's explore 30 principles together that can
- 3:03help you build a life you'll be proud
- 3:05of.
- 3:07Number one, guys.
- 3:08Number one is where we start, and we
- 3:11start with all of these one by one.
- 3:13And the first one, ladies and gentlemen, is
- 3:14wisdom.
- 3:14Wisdom grows daily.
- 3:16Wisdom isn't gained overnight.
- 3:19Every experience and every lesson adds to your
- 3:22evolving understanding.
- 3:25Number two, every decision shapes your future.
- 3:30Every decision, small decisions, the big decisions, everything.
- 3:36Today's choices become tomorrow's opportunities.
- 3:40Choose with intention, guys.
- 3:42That's the key.
- 3:44You know, anybody can just make a choice.
- 3:45But when we choose with intention, I feel
- 3:47that's when our lives are going to take
- 3:49this amazing trajectory turn to become better.
- 3:55Number three, guys, stay true to your values.
- 3:59Values provide direction.
- 4:04When decisions become difficult, let them guide your
- 4:09path, guys.
- 4:11Allow them to guide your path, build meaningful
- 4:16habits, small daily habits, create extraordinary results over
- 4:21time.
- 4:22Consistency matters.
- 4:23I think that's what we've learned here this
- 4:25week.
- 4:26Consistency and structure is what yields to success.
- 4:30Number five, guys, please learn continuously your whole
- 4:35life.
- 4:36Never stop asking questions or seeking knowledge.
- 4:40Growth begins with curiosity.
- 4:45When we're curious, we ask questions and we
- 4:48learn.
- 4:51We learn.
- 4:53That's very important.
- 4:55Number six, guys, choose integrity.
- 5:00Choose integrity.
- 5:01Doing the right thing builds trust, even when
- 5:05no one is watching.
- 5:07I've said to you guys before, we have
- 5:08to do the right thing, even when no
- 5:10one else is watching.
- 5:11Because, see, that's what shapes our character, ladies
- 5:13and gentlemen, that's what shapes our character.
- 5:15Number seven, invest in relationships.
- 5:19The people in your life often become the
- 5:23greatest source of encouragement, wisdom, and, of course,
- 5:29opportunity.
- 5:32Think, ladies and gentlemen, long-term.
- 5:36Don't sacrifice tomorrow's success for today's convenience.
- 5:42Keep your future in mind.
- 5:46Number nine, focus on purpose.
- 5:50Purpose gives direction to your actions and meaning
- 5:55to your accomplishments.
- 6:00Focus is a real important thing in life,
- 6:03but we have to embrace focus, okay?
- 6:08Number 10, learn how to build lasting success.
- 6:13Success isn't measured by one achievement or one
- 6:20decision.
- 6:21It's built through consistency over time.
- 6:26Number 11, guys, please encourage others.
- 6:30You know, when we celebrate our own success,
- 6:34it's great, but when we celebrate other successes,
- 6:37that's also good, too, okay?
- 6:41That's really good, too, that we are able
- 6:43to do that.
- 6:45So please encourage others.
- 6:47Be a support system for them.
- 6:50Helping someone else succeed often strengthens our own
- 6:55journey as well.
- 7:01And it's powerful when you can help others
- 7:03succeed.
- 7:04And then when that's succeeding, you can turn
- 7:06around and say, wait a minute, I can
- 7:08do the same thing.
- 7:10I can do the exact same thing.
- 7:13I think that's an important piece, guys, when
- 7:17we can celebrate others' wins.
- 7:22When we celebrate others' wins, it's like people
- 7:27now are like, oh, wow, you're helping me,
- 7:30too.
- 7:38I think that's an important piece, very important
- 7:44piece, a very, very important piece.
- 7:55So let's ponder that for a moment.
- 7:58And I'm going to say this again.
- 8:00Number 12, stay humble, guys.
- 8:02Humility keeps you open to learning and willing
- 8:08to improve.
- 8:10Number 13, create positive influence everywhere you go.
- 8:14And that will basically percolate through like coffee
- 8:22in a pot or water in the bay
- 8:25or the ocean.
- 8:27Your attitude, words, and actions affect more people
- 8:32than you directly realize.
- 8:38People can actually feel, ladies and gentlemen, they
- 8:40can feel your energy.
- 8:43And that's what makes people want to move
- 8:46forward.
- 8:50You can move forward.
- 9:11I think sometimes people just don't understand.
- 9:19They understand why something's working a certain way.
- 9:22They think that, you know, because something worked
- 9:26yesterday, you could do it again, it'll work
- 9:28today.
- 9:28But we've learned that business has changed.
- 9:32What worked many years ago doesn't work anymore.
- 9:35It's different, guys.
- 9:39People evolved.
- 9:42Technology is present.
- 9:45The way people shop and get engaged with
- 9:48things is completely different.
- 9:51Number 14, please, please, please keep learning.
- 9:59Please keep learning.
- 10:03That's a staple.
- 10:04The more you learn, the better prepared you'll
- 10:07be for tomorrow's opportunities.
- 10:12Consistency and structure.
- 10:14Is the name of the game always.
- 10:17Not just when it's convenient, not just when
- 10:19it's easy for you.
- 10:25That's important, guys.
- 10:27You have to be consistent and we have
- 10:30to be structured.
- 10:36And our structure might change and that's okay,
- 10:40but it's the consistency of the structure.
- 10:43We might find that we need to change
- 10:45the way we're doing something and that's perfectly
- 10:46okay.
- 10:47You can definitely tweak, but keep being consistent
- 10:50on what you're doing.
- 10:51Number 15, guys, please learn to protect your
- 10:56priorities.
- 10:59Please make time for what matters most and
- 11:05don't allow distractions to steal your focus.
- 11:11Because in our world, there's so many things
- 11:13vibing for our attention.
- 11:16Some good.
- 11:18Some distractions will just keep us from achieving
- 11:20our goals.
- 11:22We've got to be cognizant of these things
- 11:24that might pull us away from our goals,
- 11:28which are based by our core values.
- 11:34Number 16, guys, please stay disciplined.
- 11:42I said before that discipline is not motivation.
- 11:53Discipline works even when motivation fades.
- 12:01Discipline is saying, I'm going to do what
- 12:03I need to do every day, regardless of
- 12:05how I feel.
- 12:08That's discipline.
- 12:10Discipline says, I'm committed to doing this.
- 12:16No one may be watching me, which is
- 12:18perfectly okay, but I'm committed to see this
- 12:22through.
- 12:25I'm committed to see this all the way
- 12:27through.
- 12:31So please, ladies and gentlemen, stay disciplined.
- 12:35Stay disciplined.
- 12:39Discipline keeps you moving when motivation fades, and
- 12:43it will based on moods and things like
- 12:45that.
- 12:46So discipline is our compass.
- 12:48Discipline is our homing point.
- 12:51Allows us to keep going again, again, again.
- 12:54The choices you make consistently will always matter
- 13:00more than the ones you make occasionally.
- 13:03That's right.
- 13:04I said consistency, and I said structure.
- 13:09I've never known anyone to be successful that
- 13:12wasn't consistent and didn't have structure.
- 13:15It's just not possible.
- 13:17You can get lucky once or twice, but
- 13:21you won't keep staying in that energy, right?
- 13:24Anybody can get lucky once or twice, but
- 13:27it's the consistency that will yield the results
- 13:31that you're ultimately looking for.
- 13:34Notice what I said.
- 13:37It's the decisions you make consistently, not the
- 13:39ones you make occasionally.
- 13:40Let me say that again.
- 13:41It's the decisions you make consistently, not the
- 13:45ones you make occasionally.
- 13:47And that comes from our structure, okay, and
- 13:53our consistency.
- 13:55And that is how discipline works.
- 14:00It gets people to be on a path
- 14:04no matter what.
- 14:07Maybe you're doing a hike, but you're still
- 14:11going to do some kind of hike or
- 14:12exercise, even if it rains.
- 14:15Maybe you don't feel like it, but it's
- 14:19that consistency that does it.
- 14:22Consistency in your structure and your body's like,
- 14:24I want to do that.
- 14:25I want to do more of that.
- 14:33Your success is not based by decisions you
- 14:36make occasionally.
- 14:38It's based by decisions you make consistently.
- 14:44Consistently, not occasionally.
- 14:48Occasionally means I'm going to do it because
- 14:52it's convenient for me now.
- 14:55But later on, it might not be convenient.
- 14:59It might not be.
- 15:02Number 17, Dice, build resilience.
- 15:07Life will test you, but every challenge gives
- 15:11you an opportunity to become stronger, wiser, and
- 15:16more confident than before.
- 15:19Number 18, please choose progress.
- 15:25Choose progress.
- 15:32Choose progress.
- 15:34Choose consistency.
- 15:36Choose structure.
- 15:40And when you do that, you'll see that
- 15:43you'll start making changes in your life.
- 15:52Number 18, choose progress and don't wait, ladies
- 15:55and gentlemen, for perfection.
- 15:57Small steady improvements create extraordinary results over time.
- 16:04And again, that's the whole thing I've been
- 16:05saying the whole time here is that it's
- 16:07about consistency and it's about structure.
- 16:09It's not doing something because it feels good
- 16:11today.
- 16:13What if you don't feel like doing it
- 16:14tomorrow?
- 16:15You still got to do it.
- 16:17Right.
- 16:19Number 19, please value your time and make
- 16:23sure other people value your time.
- 16:25Time is your most valuable asset.
- 16:29Invest it wisely because every day is an
- 16:34opportunity you'll never get back again.
- 16:40That means make sure that what you're putting
- 16:44on your calendar, your day, is aligned with
- 16:48your core values, your core values.
- 16:57Number 20, keep your promises.
- 17:01Whether they're promises to yourself or others, honoring
- 17:06your commitment builds trust, confidence, and personal integrity.
- 17:16Integrity, trust, consistency.
- 17:26I think that's an important piece to understand
- 17:33because it can get us set up to
- 17:37be on the right path.
- 17:39Even when we may not think we're on
- 17:43the right path, right?
- 17:48So I think that's a very, I think
- 17:53that's something a lot of people just don't
- 17:56realize.
- 17:59So I want to talk about something.
- 18:00It was in technology we talked about before,
- 18:01but it's called CIA triad.
- 18:04Stands for confidentiality, integrity, availability.
- 18:09Everything in technology needs to be confidential.
- 18:12Needs to be based on integrity and has
- 18:15to be available.
- 18:17Our day has to be like that, guys.
- 18:21Our day needs to be like that.
- 18:23Number 21, believe in your potential.
- 18:28Never underestimate what you're capable of becoming.
- 18:32Growth begins the moment you believe it's possible.
- 18:37Number 22, live intentionally.
- 18:41Don't allow life to happen by just accident
- 18:45or a whim because you're not going to
- 18:48get what you want.
- 18:50You're probably going to be disappointed with the
- 18:52results you get because you're not consistent and
- 18:55there's no structure.
- 18:57So one day it might work and one
- 19:00day it may not.
- 19:03Make decisions that reflect the future, guys.
- 19:07You're working to create.
- 19:11Your future is being created by your energy,
- 19:17which should be in alignment with your core
- 19:18values.
- 19:21Number 23, make every day count, guys.
- 19:25Every day offers new opportunities to learn, serve,
- 19:29improve, and move closer to your goals.
- 19:32Number 24, build something meaningful.
- 19:36Success isn't only about what you accomplish.
- 19:40It's about creating something that adds lasting value
- 19:44to the lives of others.
- 19:48The lives of others.
- 19:50And they all come from your core values,
- 19:52guys.
- 19:53They come from your core values.
- 19:57And how you operate should be coming from
- 20:00discipline, not emotion.
- 20:03Not basically what you think it should be,
- 20:11what you know.
- 20:13Commitment.
- 20:16Commitment.
- 20:18Number 25, inspire through action.
- 20:23People often remember what you do more than
- 20:26what you say.
- 20:28Lead by example every chance you get.
- 20:31I think that's probably one of the most
- 20:34important things I could say to you.
- 20:36Number 26, success is shared.
- 20:40Celebrate the people who helped you along the
- 20:42way.
- 20:43The greatest achievements are rarely accomplished alone.
- 20:49Number 27, guys, leave a positive mindset.
- 20:55Think beyond today.
- 20:56The choices you make are the keys, guys.
- 21:01They are the keys.
- 21:02The choices you make now can influence your
- 21:08family, your community, and future generations.
- 21:13I think that's important, guys.
- 21:17Number 28, continue growing, please.
- 21:19Never stop learning or challenging yourself.
- 21:23Growing is a lifelong journey that keeps life
- 21:26exciting and meaningful.
- 21:30Number 29, great lives are built by great
- 21:34decisions.
- 21:37Extraordinary lives aren't created through luck, guys.
- 21:40They are built through thousands of wise choices
- 21:43made consistently with structure over time.
- 21:48Number 30, guys, wise choices create extraordinary lives.
- 21:55Every thoughtful decision strengthens your character.
- 21:59Expands your opportunities and moves you closer to
- 22:02becoming the person you're meant to be.
- 22:08I think sometimes people don't really understand that.
- 22:15They think it's about one thing, but then
- 22:17they realize that it's actually about more than
- 22:19that.
- 22:21I think that causes people to get confused.
- 22:25Causes people to give up or go home
- 22:27early.
- 22:29Yeah.
- 22:30It does.
- 22:31I don't say that to scare you.
- 22:34I say that so you're alert and so
- 22:36you don't quit.
- 22:39You need consistency and you need structure, guys,
- 22:42every single day.
- 22:45You can't do something just because you feel
- 22:46like it.
- 22:48In closing and wrapping up this wonderful, powerful
- 22:51week, I conclude our series, Master Your Choices
- 22:56Before They Master You.
- 22:58Remember, ladies and gentlemen, that wisdom isn't something
- 23:02you're born with.
- 23:03No.
- 23:07It's something you build through every experience, every
- 23:13lesson, and every decision you make.
- 23:19The quality of your future will always be
- 23:25connected to the quality of the choices you
- 23:28make today.
- 23:30And that should be aligned with your core
- 23:31values, guys, which should be laced with consistency
- 23:37and structure.
- 23:39Ladies and gentlemen, it's really important.
- 23:41Don't wait for the perfect moment to begin
- 23:44living intentionally.
- 23:45There's never going to be a perfect moment,
- 23:47a perfect time, a perfect location.
- 23:50So the time to act is now.
- 23:52This takes me back to a saying I've
- 23:54used many times.
- 23:55People always say, you know, strike while the
- 23:58iron is hot.
- 23:59I'm here to tell you, don't do that.
- 24:02Strike to make the iron hot.
- 24:04The other one is, people always say, wait
- 24:08till your ship comes in, right?
- 24:11I'm here to tell you, if your ship's
- 24:13not in, go swim out to it.
- 24:16We need to protect our priorities, stay true
- 24:21to our core values, continue learning, encourage others,
- 24:26and never stop becoming a better version of
- 24:29yourself.
- 24:32See, we're constantly morphing.
- 24:33We're constantly changing.
- 24:34We're constantly evolving, constantly growing.
- 24:42Small, wise decisions made consistently have the power
- 24:47to transform your life in ways you may
- 24:52never have imagined.
- 24:57That's powerful, guys.
- 24:59I take this moment to say thank you
- 25:01for joining me for another amazing, powerful week
- 25:04of inspirations for your life.
- 25:07I am John C.
- 25:09Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 25:14podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 25:18Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner.
- 25:22I'm so grateful now to be a published
- 25:24author.
- 25:25Really grateful for that, guys.
- 25:26Really, really grateful.
- 25:28Ladies and gentlemen, I have this to say
- 25:30to you.
- 25:30Until next time, please remember that extraordinary lives
- 25:37are not built in a single day.
- 25:40If you expect it, you'll be disappointed, and
- 25:44you'll probably miss your mark.
- 25:50They're built one wise decision at a time.
- 25:57Please choose with purpose.
- 25:59Live with integrity.
- 26:01Keep growing and continue building a life you'll
- 26:04be proud of for years to come.
- 26:08And I say this to you from the
- 26:10bottom of my heart because it's one thing
- 26:13to do something and fake it.
- 26:16It's another to do it intentionally.
- 26:18See, and people can tell when you're living
- 26:21intentionally.
- 26:24It's an energy that you resonate with.
- 26:29It's the words you use.
- 26:32It's your body language, right?
- 26:37It's your body language.
- 26:41Those are powerful things, guys.
- 26:45But if you live on the philosophy that,
- 26:47you know, I'm going to do it if
- 26:49it feels good, or if I want to,
- 26:55don't.
- 26:55Please don't do that.
- 26:58Please don't do that because you're just shorting
- 27:04yourself.
- 27:08Choices in life sometimes are not easy.
- 27:13But those that keep hitting the pavement, those
- 27:15that keep sticking up, keep showing up, being
- 27:17consistent, living their life with structure and a
- 27:21consistency.
- 27:23And when those are aligned with our core
- 27:24values, we want to show up.
- 27:27We want to be disciplined.
- 27:30Not because we have to, but because we
- 27:31want to.
- 27:33But if they're not laced with our core
- 27:34values, then it's like, oh, I don't know
