- 0:00Speaker 1: We all leave at some point, Brownie. At the end
- 0:03Speaker 1: of time. Sometimes, man. Sometimes. Hey, another hour of the
- 0:08Speaker 1: next round presented by Hard Rock Bet here on Sport
- 0:12Speaker 1: and State. I saw our buddy T-Bob Hebert worried about
- 0:16Speaker 1: AI and the end of the world now. So he's
- 0:18Speaker 1: on the Lance bandwagon. Man, I got an email.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Bo forwarded it from one of our listeners who works
- 0:23Speaker 2: in AI.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And he said, hey, look, man, sooner than later, none
- 0:28Speaker 2: of us are going to have to work. And we're
- 0:30Speaker 2: going to get a government stipend. And I'm like, we're
- 0:32Speaker 2: already lazy.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Enough as a society.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You're going to give us a government stipend to go
- 0:35Speaker 2: tick off?
- 0:36Speaker 1: I think that's the Elon Musk theory is that AI
- 0:39Speaker 1: is going to make things so cheap that you're going
- 0:41Speaker 1: to be able to have a basic income from the
- 0:43Speaker 1: United States, which I'm not for. I don't want to
- 0:45Speaker 1: be around. T-Bob said when these other things broke through
- 0:50Speaker 1: a firewall and started talking to each other in a
- 0:52Speaker 1: different language that we didn't understand, he says that's when
- 0:55Speaker 1: the guys who were doing it got worried. I tell
- 0:59Speaker 1: you what, T-Bob and you, Dunaway, and other people, y'all
- 1:02Speaker 1: got to quit leaving the CBS on after the NFL
- 1:06Speaker 1: games and watching 60 Minutes. That's why Jen's all this up.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Y'all would never know about this if you didn't leave
- 1:10Speaker 1: CBS on after the late game and watch 60 Minutes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You're making it sound like I'm not well-read like Chris
- 1:15Speaker 1: Doering is. No, no, Doering ain't going to talk AI.
- 1:18Speaker 1: He's a football guy. Chris Doering joins us now, SEC Network,
- 1:22Speaker 1: at Chris Doering on social media, the Florida Great. What
- 1:24Speaker 1: is up, Doering? How are you? Hey, good morning, boys.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Good to be back with you. That's not what I needed, man.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I'm over here watching LSU tape right now. The last
- 1:33Speaker 4: thing I want to see is hear about you guys
- 1:36Speaker 4: and your fears about the end of the world here
- 1:38Speaker 4: with some Terminator-type stuff, man.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Hey, where are you on, like, Sam Leavitt's fun to watch,
- 1:43Speaker 2: but he is careless with the football.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I mean, you can't really deny that.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Can Sam Leavitt, with his inability to protect the football,
- 1:52Speaker 2: is there any way that... they can win at a
- 1:55Speaker 2: high level on a consistent basis, if that makes sense.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Yeah, Lance, it's not only the concern about being careless
- 2:03Speaker 4: with the football, it's having zero pocket presence. And this
- 2:08Speaker 4: is what I was scared about. You've got a guy that.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Hadn't played since last October, comes to a new offense.
- 2:14Speaker 4: It's almost like the DJ Lagway situation where you don't
- 2:16Speaker 4: get any off-season time. You're not going through OTAs in spring,
- 2:20Speaker 4: and you're barely getting out there when you go to camp.
- 2:24Speaker 3: He doesn't have a feel for what's going on right now.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And I don't blame him. The offensive line has not
- 2:29Speaker 3: been good the last couple weeks.
- 2:30Speaker 4: We got a fake idea of what their offensive line
- 2:33Speaker 4: was going to be against Clemson. But LaTeX exposed him.
- 2:36Speaker 4: You know, what, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks in
- 2:39Speaker 4: that ballgame. And obviously, you know, Ole Miss was able
- 2:42Speaker 4: to create some pressure on him. But there are guys
- 2:45Speaker 4: open down the field. Levitt, they were only two of
- 2:48Speaker 4: eight on air throws longer than 10 yards for about
- 2:51Speaker 4: 40 yards.
- 2:52Speaker 3: One of them was a touchdown to Winnie Watkins. One
- 2:55Speaker 3: of them was a completion.
- 2:56Speaker 4: To trade as green, his best and most reliable target.
- 2:59Speaker 4: So with him being out for the foreseeable future, I
- 3:02Speaker 4: don't know how you get him to be comfortable on
- 3:05Speaker 4: the fly and see the game without His basic instinct,
- 3:09Speaker 4: as soon as he sees color flash, he's going to
- 3:10Speaker 4: put his foot in the ground and go, which I
- 3:13Speaker 4: respect his athletic ability, but from a passing game standpoint,
- 3:15Speaker 4: from a receiver standpoint, I'd be a little frustrated with that,
- 3:19Speaker 4: to be honest.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm interested if you think this Ole Miss team is
- 3:23Speaker 1: as good or better than last year's team. I like
- 3:26Speaker 1: this defense. I was worried about them after the Louisville game.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Turns out Louisville's pretty dang good offensively. Where are you
- 3:32Speaker 1: on Ole Miss' defense coming out of this first quarter
- 3:36Speaker 1: of the season?
- 3:37Speaker 4: I like their front seven a lot. I'm very still
- 3:40Speaker 4: skeptical about the back end. The same issues that they
- 3:44Speaker 4: had against Louisville, not being on the same page, letting
- 3:47Speaker 4: guys go in coverage was there. Levitt just wasn't able
- 3:52Speaker 4: to take advantage of it like Keen Holtz was. But
- 3:57Speaker 4: having a pass rush that's as relentless as Ole Miss
- 4:00Speaker 4: is in can certainly cover up for some of those issues.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Echols is an absolute monster up front. We know what
- 4:07Speaker 4: Centurion Perkins can do with his athleticism. Keaton Thomas was
- 4:11Speaker 4: a tremendous acquisition coming over from Baylor.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So I'm with you.
- 4:15Speaker 4: I like their defense an awful lot, and certainly Pete Golding.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I don't think Pete Golding gets the credit that he
- 4:21Speaker 4: deserves nationally. You talk to coaches around the league and
- 4:26Speaker 4: around college football. They know how good he is. He's
- 4:29Speaker 4: impressive as anybody up on the whiteboard. Done a great
- 4:33Speaker 4: job as the head coach, but still a mastermind when
- 4:35Speaker 4: it comes to creating mismatches and one-on-one opportunities for his guys.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Chris Doering is with us from the SEC Network. I
- 4:41Speaker 1: wasn't there when James Naismith hung the peach basket or
- 4:45Speaker 1: Abner Doubleday stitched up a baseball, but thank God I'm
- 4:48Speaker 1: here for Buster Faulkner to create offensive football. I finally
- 4:52Speaker 1: get to see something created. The way the guy gets
- 4:54Speaker 1: talked about, it was like on the sixth day he
- 4:56Speaker 1: created the offense. Why is this guy so good? But
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm dumb. And he rested on Sundays? He rested on Sundays.
- 5:03Speaker 1: He only coaches on Saturdays, Jim. I mean, explain it
- 5:06Speaker 1: to me like I don't know football, why everybody is
- 5:09Speaker 1: screaming about how good Buster Faulkner is.
- 5:11Speaker 4: I'm absolutely blown away with this guy. And I talked
- 5:16Speaker 4: to Coach Summerall in the preseason. We were talking a
- 5:18Speaker 4: little bit about the concerns around the offensive line.
- 5:21Speaker 3: He goes, you know, in all.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Honesty, I minimize those concerns because of what Buster Faulkner does,
- 5:26Speaker 4: what he does with his tempo that puts pressure on defenses,
- 5:30Speaker 4: what he does with unbalanced formations and what that does
- 5:33Speaker 4: up front, what he does with his misdirection, emotion shifts,
- 5:36Speaker 4: misdirections after the snaps. I mean, there is a lot
- 5:39Speaker 4: that goes into it. I think Florida's really playing well
- 5:42Speaker 4: within that offense right now. I mentioned on Twitter, like
- 5:45Speaker 4: they scored 44 points at Auburn against a DJ Durkin defense.
- 5:49Speaker 4: And I only think they played about a C plus game.
- 5:52Speaker 4: They had some drops, they had some turnovers, they had
- 5:54Speaker 4: some missed assignments, some busts in protection. So I think
- 5:57Speaker 4: the ceiling's even higher, but he just does such a
- 6:00Speaker 4: great job of constantly putting pressure on defenses.
- 6:04Speaker 3: And how about Aaron Filo? I don't think we've talked.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Enough about what he's done so far, his understanding of
- 6:11Speaker 4: the offense, that was what they wanted him to come
- 6:13Speaker 4: over from Georgia tech, know the offense inside and out.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It just distributes the football because there are so many
- 6:18Speaker 4: weapons on that offense.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And, and, Jaden Ball, the.
- 6:20Speaker 4: One-two punch of him and what you have with the
- 6:23Speaker 4: passing game with Vernell Brown and Dallas Wilson and Micah Mays,
- 6:27Speaker 4: the tight end Amir Jackson. There's a lot of talent
- 6:30Speaker 4: that's finally being utilized. A lot of that talent's been
- 6:32Speaker 4: on the roster the last two years and criminally been underutilized.
- 6:35Speaker 3: But it's fun again in Gainesville.
- 6:38Speaker 4: And look no further than the fact what Georgia Tech's
- 6:40Speaker 4: offense has done versus what Florida's offense has done. Number
- 6:44Speaker 4: three in the country in total offense right now. So
- 6:46Speaker 4: I think that's a great testament to what Buster Faulkner
- 6:49Speaker 4: is able to do as an offensive coordinator.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I mean, we really haven't had buzz like this with
- 6:53Speaker 2: an OC since Joe Brady back in 2019. And I'm
- 6:57Speaker 2: not prepared, Doring, to say this is a 2019 version
- 7:00Speaker 2: of LSU. But how much have the expectations changed for Florida?
- 7:04Speaker 2: I mean, now they're a three and a half point
- 7:06Speaker 2: favorite against Ole Miss this week. And when you start
- 7:08Speaker 2: looking at this, is it realistic to say Florida is
- 7:12Speaker 2: a legitimate college football playoff contender?
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I think this week we'll tell.
- 7:18Speaker 4: If Florida is able to get this victory over Ole Miss,
- 7:22Speaker 4: you're 4-0. The schedule kind of plays out a little
- 7:25Speaker 4: more favorably for you. Oklahoma doesn't look like the team
- 7:28Speaker 4: we expected them to be. South Carolina doesn't look all
- 7:31Speaker 4: that daunting. Vanderbilt 3-0, but hasn't been all that impressive.
- 7:35Speaker 4: I could see Florida getting the nine wins now, and
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think with their schedule would have a legitimate argument
- 7:41Speaker 4: as a 9-3 SEC team to get into the college
- 7:44Speaker 4: football playoff field. The defense, to me, everybody was upset
- 7:49Speaker 4: about their performance, but they had seven sacks. They had
- 7:52Speaker 4: a ton of hurries and forced some errors with Byron Brown.
- 7:55Speaker 4: I think they'll continue to get better and better on
- 7:57Speaker 4: that side of the ball. But honestly, when you score
- 7:59Speaker 4: as many points as Florida can, they're playing defense themselves.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Like the pressure they not only put on the opposing defense,
- 8:06Speaker 4: but on the opposing offense, it's like a Grand Slam
- 8:08Speaker 4: tennis match where you have to hold serve. And Florida
- 8:11Speaker 4: scored on eight of 10 possessions, probably could have scored
- 8:13Speaker 4: more if they hadn't kicked some field goals down around
- 8:15Speaker 4: the red zone. But the pressure they put on an
- 8:17Speaker 4: opposing offense to try to keep up with them is
- 8:20Speaker 4: probably their best defense in all honesty.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You've noticed long enough now to know that I can't
- 8:26Speaker 1: handle my liquor and I am the worst gambler in
- 8:29Speaker 1: the world. This feels like such easy money with Ole
- 8:33Speaker 1: Miss getting points. Does that make you feel good or bad?
- 8:37Speaker 1: And how do you feel about this game?
- 8:39Speaker 4: Well, I talk a lot about it's not only who
- 8:42Speaker 4: you play in the SEC, it's when you play them
- 8:45Speaker 4: and where you play them. And from the get-go, this
- 8:47Speaker 4: was going to be a bad spot for Ole Miss
- 8:49Speaker 4: with as emotional a game as that LSU returned or
- 8:52Speaker 4: Lane's return to Oxford was going to be with LSU.
- 8:55Speaker 4: It was set up, win or lose, to be a
- 8:57Speaker 4: letdown spot. Great teams don't have letdowns. Great teams find
- 9:01Speaker 4: a way to turn the page and move on.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I suspect that this Ole Miss team is a great team.
- 9:06Speaker 4: But I do think, going back to what I said
- 9:08Speaker 4: before about their secondary, I think they're susceptible. And so
- 9:11Speaker 4: if Florida can protect a little bit, I think there's
- 9:13Speaker 4: big plays to be had. I honestly believe this is
- 9:16Speaker 4: going to be a bit of a shootout. But the
- 9:18Speaker 4: Swamp has a reputation for what it does for the
- 9:22Speaker 4: home team. And I think this is going to be
- 9:24Speaker 4: a tremendous environment. You saw it recently over the last
- 9:28Speaker 4: couple of years with the Swamp getting back to kind
- 9:30Speaker 4: of what it used to be. This is a massive
- 9:33Speaker 4: game for the program, not only because you want to
- 9:36Speaker 4: keep that momentum going and have a chance to keep
- 9:38Speaker 4: yourself in the playoff race, but what it could signal
- 9:40Speaker 4: for excitement and more people kind of getting back involved
- 9:44Speaker 4: and on board with the Florida football program. It's been
- 9:46Speaker 4: largely down with the exception of 2020. It's been down
- 9:49Speaker 4: for 10 years, and this has given people hope again.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Doring, there is nothing dividing the three of us more
- 9:54Speaker 1: than Oklahoma football right now. Dunaway and I think they're
- 9:59Speaker 1: lost in... the woods and they've got a really good defense,
- 10:02Speaker 1: but that offense is just trash. I get the feeling
- 10:05Speaker 1: Lance thinks they got a shot in Athens Saturday. I
- 10:08Speaker 1: think they can play them close. I have seen athletic
- 10:11Speaker 1: quarterbacks give Kirby problems before. I think their defense is elite.
- 10:16Speaker 1: It's elite. I'll give you that. Yeah, but these guys
- 10:19Speaker 1: have them the 12th best team in the SEC. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you got to have two sides, Dorian. You can't just
- 10:23Speaker 1: play defense every down.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Here's the thing, Lance, I can tell Lance and I
- 10:27Speaker 4: are on the same page. The over in the preseason
- 10:30Speaker 4: seven and a half wins look like a lock. I mean,
- 10:32Speaker 4: that was an absolute giveaway with money. And now all
- 10:34Speaker 4: of a sudden I'm starting to sweat that a little bit.
- 10:37Speaker 4: But I'm with you on the defense. I think the
- 10:39Speaker 4: defense is certainly elite. And if they waste another year
- 10:43Speaker 4: with a national championship worthy defense with a putrid offense
- 10:46Speaker 4: like we've seen so far, I'm going.
- 10:48Speaker 3: To be really frustrated. But The disappointing part for me
- 10:52Speaker 3: was that we thought the offensive line was going to
- 10:54Speaker 3: get better. We thought the run game was going to
- 10:55Speaker 3: get better. It hasn't.
- 10:57Speaker 4: We thought with Mateer being healthy, he would get back
- 11:00Speaker 4: to looking like the guy he was before the injury
- 11:02Speaker 4: last year.
- 11:03Speaker 3: He hasn't.
- 11:04Speaker 4: A lot of criticism and now pressure on Ben Arbuckle
- 11:07Speaker 4: as well as Mateer. This is a game that they
- 11:10Speaker 4: have to go out and play well on offense. And
- 11:12Speaker 4: I'm with you guys. I think Mateer can create some
- 11:15Speaker 4: problems offensively. with his legs, but it's not all him.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Like I went back and looked at that Michigan game.
- 11:20Speaker 4: There are catches that should have been made. There are
- 11:22Speaker 4: receivers that, that interception late, the receivers got to come
- 11:25Speaker 4: flat on the over route. You cannot drift up field
- 11:27Speaker 4: and let the corner undercut you in man coverage. So
- 11:30Speaker 4: this is a group effort right now, but, it has
- 11:34Speaker 4: not been what we were sold in terms of offensive
- 11:37Speaker 4: improvement in the offseason.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not saying this is good, but his completion
- 11:40Speaker 2: percentage is better than Archer's. It's better than Sam Levitt's.
- 11:43Speaker 2: It's better than Marcel Reed's. With all that said, do
- 11:48Speaker 2: you think it is more Ben Arbuckle than it is
- 11:50Speaker 2: John Mateer?
- 11:52Speaker 4: No, I think it's probably a mixture of both with
- 11:56Speaker 4: more of it going on Mateer. The thing that kind
- 11:59Speaker 4: of scared me the most was was hearing Mateer say,
- 12:02Speaker 4: I heard the crowd start to cheer and knew that
- 12:06Speaker 4: Cetania was open. To not have an awareness of that
- 12:10Speaker 4: leads me to believe either he doesn't know where his
- 12:12Speaker 4: eyes are supposed to be or don't understand the purpose
- 12:15Speaker 4: of the play call because that's something. I've been around
- 12:18Speaker 4: quarterbacks before. You ask them why they threw it.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Well, he was open. That's not the deal. In good
- 12:23Speaker 3: offenses that have.
- 12:25Speaker 4: An understanding of how to run concepts and timing, It's
- 12:30Speaker 4: anticipation and hearing a crowd roar to throw it deep,
- 12:34Speaker 4: that doesn't lead me to believe it's anticipating very well.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Listen, they're the number one team in the country, Texas is,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and they were playing Ohio State two weeks ago. But
- 12:45Speaker 1: those first three quarters were one thing, and that fourth
- 12:48Speaker 1: quarter was great. Which is the team that's going to
- 12:51Speaker 1: play Tennessee? What we saw in the first three quarters
- 12:53Speaker 1: of that fourth quarter, where are you on the Longhorns
- 12:55Speaker 1: this week?
- 12:56Speaker 4: Well, to me, it goes back to quarterback play. I
- 12:59Speaker 4: would say Arch is the exact same way. And it's
- 13:02Speaker 4: frustrating to me. I literally was just watching tape here
- 13:04Speaker 4: this morning of that Ohio State game. There are plays
- 13:07Speaker 4: to be made for the first three quarters of that ballgame.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I honestly believe that Arch is scared to some degree,
- 13:13Speaker 4: scared of making a mistake, plays tight, the checkdowns. They're
- 13:17Speaker 4: not calling these plays conservatively around the line of scrimmage.
- 13:20Speaker 4: There are shots to be had down the field, but
- 13:22Speaker 4: I think he doesn't really let it loose until he's
- 13:25Speaker 4: in a situation where he's got to bring them back
- 13:27Speaker 4: from behind. Go back to last year, played one of
- 13:29Speaker 4: his best games in the second half of that Florida
- 13:31Speaker 4: game when they're down double digits, trying to bring them back.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Last year against Mississippi State when they were down, trying
- 13:36Speaker 4: to bring them back. The fourth quarter performance against Ohio State,
- 13:40Speaker 4: trying to bring them back.
- 13:41Speaker 3: He's got to find a.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Way to not play scared and trying not to make
- 13:46Speaker 4: a mistake and just let this thing rip.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Now, with that being said, threw a great.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Ball to Cam Coleman that I thought Cam Coleman should
- 13:54Speaker 4: have run through instead of diving.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And the ball takes a weird bounce for an interception.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Ryan Wingo drops an easy touchdown.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So again, like the Oklahoma Sooner offense, it's a collective
- 14:04Speaker 4: group making errors, but Arch has got to show that
- 14:07Speaker 4: aggressiveness and play the way he does in the fourth
- 14:09Speaker 4: quarter for the other three, and I think the team
- 14:11Speaker 4: will follow. I was really impressed with how well they
- 14:14Speaker 4: ran the ball against Ohio State. Their offensive line seems
- 14:17Speaker 4: to be a lot better than last year, and certainly
- 14:18Speaker 4: the run game is too. So if they can get
- 14:21Speaker 4: Arch playing to that fourth quarter level, Texas could be dangerous.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Chris Doering, SEC Network, for a few more moments. After Saturday,
- 14:30Speaker 1: are you more encouraged by Kentucky or more worried about
- 14:34Speaker 1: Texas A & M? uh or both yeah yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 4: You said more I'm impressed with Kentucky you know I
- 14:43Speaker 4: mean Kentucky showed us a great first half against Alabama
- 14:46Speaker 4: they melted.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Down in the third quarter um.
- 14:50Speaker 4: They were outscored 18 nothing they turned the football over
- 14:53Speaker 4: a couple times and then they learned from that and
- 14:55Speaker 4: they came back in this game and dominated the third
- 14:58Speaker 4: quarter 21 nothing didn't give up a sack was able
- 15:01Speaker 4: to run the football for about 7.2 yards per carry
- 15:04Speaker 4: in that quarter, just took it to Texas A & M,
- 15:07Speaker 4: a team that we typically think about being a physical
- 15:10Speaker 4: team under Mike Elko.
- 15:11Speaker 3: They own the line of scrimmage, 54 offensive snaps for Kentucky.
- 15:15Speaker 4: They were incredibly efficient and did what they needed to
- 15:18Speaker 4: do to finish drives. And as Benjamin Watson often says,
- 15:22Speaker 4: I love the quote, Don't mistake activity for productivity.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Activity is what you see from Texas A & M.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Productivity finishing drives has not been what they've been able
- 15:33Speaker 4: to do. And Marcel Reed, going back to the quarterback discussion,
- 15:37Speaker 4: I'm embarrassed that my preseason quarterback.
- 15:39Speaker 3: List top five, I had Trinidad at the top. But
- 15:42Speaker 3: I had.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Marcel Reed in that list. Arch hasn't necessarily played his best.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Think about what Lenore Sellers has done here to this point.
- 15:51Speaker 4: It's almost a mirror image of last year where the
- 15:53Speaker 4: quarterbacks that we expected to be good have largely underachieved.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Mateer was in my number two quarterback. Like this group
- 16:00Speaker 3: has just underperformed.
- 16:01Speaker 4: And maybe Marcel Reed is just what he is, a
- 16:04Speaker 4: very inconsistent player that has a high ceiling that can't
- 16:06Speaker 4: tap into to eliminating the mistakes.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Okay, sticking with those quarterbacks, Trinidad Chambliss has got the experience.
- 16:13Speaker 2: He's got four wins over top 25 teams. With all
- 16:17Speaker 2: that said, not right now in the moment, but CD,
- 16:21Speaker 2: in the next couple of months, who will be the
- 16:23Speaker 2: better quarterback in the state of Mississippi? Will it be
- 16:26Speaker 2: Trinidad or Kamario Taylor?
- 16:28Speaker 3: Golly, that's a great question. Let me be honest with you, man.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I was really high on Mississippi State after that win
- 16:35Speaker 4: over Minnesota. Then I went back and watched the tape
- 16:39Speaker 4: and I saw the excessive number of white dudes on
- 16:41Speaker 4: Minnesota's defense.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Maybe they're not as good as what I thought they were.
- 16:45Speaker 3: But then they came out and did it against South Carolina.
- 16:48Speaker 3: So I'm all in on Mississippi State.
- 16:50Speaker 4: I think Jeff Levy's done a great job of building
- 16:53Speaker 4: around the move last year in the Egg Bowl to
- 16:56Speaker 4: go with Kamario Taylor, knowing that he was going to
- 16:58Speaker 4: be your guy this year and getting him two starts
- 17:01Speaker 4: with that game in the bowl game was tremendous. Fluff
- 17:03Speaker 4: Bothwell has been a workhorse as a compliment to what
- 17:08Speaker 4: Camario's done. The defense, though, Zach Garnett, I thought that
- 17:12Speaker 4: was the story of the ballgame. Like, they could have
- 17:13Speaker 4: been down 21-24-0, but the defense forced some field goals
- 17:18Speaker 4: and kept the South Carolina Gamecocks within striking distance for
- 17:22Speaker 4: their offense. And once they got going, they were tough
- 17:24Speaker 4: to stop. So to answer your question, I think Trinidad's
- 17:27Speaker 4: the more reliable. I think he's the best quarterback in
- 17:30Speaker 4: the country. But I think in terms of potential upside,
- 17:33Speaker 4: I think Camario still gives you the higher ceiling.
- 17:35Speaker 1: With standing room, 70,000 fans have bought Hemingway this past week.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Ole Miss announces over $ 900, 000 in alcohol sales legally inside
- 17:46Speaker 1: the stadium. With the size of the stadium and that
- 17:49Speaker 1: legal alcohol sales, was that the most lubricated crowd in
- 17:53Speaker 1: SEC football history?
- 17:56Speaker 4: Extremely lubricated, but I don't know about in terms of
- 18:00Speaker 4: real true ability to drink a stadium out. I go
- 18:03Speaker 4: back to that LSU trip to Nashville a few years
- 18:05Speaker 4: ago when they drank every drop of alcohol. Maybe that
- 18:08Speaker 4: was just poor planning on Vanderbilt's part, but I think
- 18:11Speaker 4: the schools are seeing the opportunities that now present themselves
- 18:14Speaker 4: within stadium alcohol sales. I'm thinking, what were we doing
- 18:17Speaker 4: for so long not allowing the money that they were
- 18:20Speaker 4: missing out on? It's now probably having to be allocated
- 18:23Speaker 4: to NIL more than facilities or anything else. That could
- 18:25Speaker 4: have been building uh programs for for decades.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Before you guys used to let people leave at halftime
- 18:31Speaker 1: right as.
- 18:34Speaker 4: A player i remember seeing the banners fly above the
- 18:37Speaker 4: stadium purple porpoise half price kamikazes at halftime people would
- 18:41Speaker 4: leave and come back in i thought it was a
- 18:43Speaker 4: great marketing effort but yeah they shut that down uh
- 18:47Speaker 4: Not too long after that, they realized it's probably not
- 18:49Speaker 4: the best thing to do to let excessive drinking go
- 18:52Speaker 4: on at halftime and people back in the stadium.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I know you love your job, but I sit there
- 18:56Speaker 2: and I see you and Peter and Ben in studio,
- 18:58Speaker 2: and I'm like, man, I bet Doring would love to
- 19:01Speaker 2: be in a stadium on a Saturday.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Is there something about you wanting to be at this
- 19:06Speaker 1: game this weekend?
- 19:07Speaker 3: There's no doubt. I was jealous.
- 19:10Speaker 4: PB and I were in Oxford on Wednesday last week.
- 19:12Speaker 4: To have to get on a plane Thursday and go
- 19:14Speaker 4: to Charlotte for our studio shows, When everybody else was arriving,
- 19:18Speaker 4: it was tough. This one even more so, the number
- 19:21Speaker 4: of friends that I have at Ole Miss and being
- 19:23Speaker 4: a home game for me, definitely.
- 19:25Speaker 3: But here's the thing, Lance. That period of time after
- 19:28Speaker 3: I got done.
- 19:28Speaker 4: In the NFL, before I started working for ESPN, I
- 19:31Speaker 4: got in a lot of trouble around the stadium. It
- 19:33Speaker 4: wasn't the best representation for me. The all-day tailgating, I
- 19:39Speaker 4: don't have the off switch. And so I think the
- 19:41Speaker 4: best thing for me is to be away and go
- 19:44Speaker 4: do some professional work and not be tempted by all
- 19:47Speaker 4: the fun that everybody's having in the parking lot.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I look at you growing up. I don't have an
- 19:52Speaker 1: off switch. Yeah, I know. No, we've been in Nashville.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Chris Doering, SEC Network. Thank you, Doering. Enjoy the weekend.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Always fun catching up. Yeah, I love you, boys.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Thanks for having me.
- 20:01Speaker 1: We'll see you. Chris Doering with us on the show,
- 20:04Speaker 1: talking SEC football. Fun that we got enough good teams.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I mean, we can just motor through teams. We didn't
- 20:11Speaker 1: even get to all of them. Yeah, I know.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Were you really– are you just saying this about Ole Miss,
- 20:15Speaker 2: or do you really think it's easy money?
- 20:17Speaker 1: Oh, how is it not easy money?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Coming off that high, going into that smoltering freaking swamp.
- 20:25Speaker 1: It will be. A thousand degrees. Oh, it'll be a
- 20:28Speaker 1: thousand degrees. But I was just going to say as
- 20:29Speaker 1: far as, is that the? 230. 230, yeah. I love Florida.
- 20:34Speaker 1: It will take five and a half to six hours
- 20:37Speaker 1: to play. Those four quarters, the lightning delays will be
- 20:42Speaker 1: through the roof.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think Ole Miss is really good. They can't keep up, though,
- 20:46Speaker 2: like right now with where they are. I think this
- 20:48Speaker 2: thing plays out perfectly for Florida.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I don't know the last time the Swamp will be
- 20:53Speaker 1: this engaged. I mean, I can't imagine the last time
- 20:58Speaker 1: they've had a– A home game where they've had this
- 21:01Speaker 1: good of an opponent, but at the same time felt
- 21:03Speaker 1: this good about their team.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and do you guys believe if they win this game,
- 21:07Speaker 2: I mean, are you starting to put like Florida as
- 21:09Speaker 2: a team that can get to a college football playoff?
- 21:12Speaker 1: Let me see their defense Saturday, Lance, and I know
- 21:14Speaker 1: you're going up against a good offense. Their defense against Auburn,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I mean, got run pretty good. I agree. I don't
- 21:21Speaker 1: know how good their defense is. And John Summerall has,
- 21:23Speaker 1: in both wins, has said our defense ain't where it
- 21:26Speaker 1: needs to be. Everybody can get all excited. Our defense
- 21:28Speaker 1: is not where it needs to be, and it wasn't
- 21:30Speaker 1: in both wins before Auburn, and it wasn't with Auburn either.
- 21:32Speaker 1: And now you've got another good offense coming in. I
- 21:34Speaker 1: don't know that they've got the defense to be a
- 21:36Speaker 1: real SEC contender. Again, we make jokes about Buster Faulkner,
- 21:39Speaker 1: but every football mind we have on this show lines
- 21:42Speaker 1: up and talks about what an amazing offense he has.
- 21:44Speaker 3: 100%.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I was trying to get the 10-day forecast here in Gainesville.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I know there's nothing we can do about it. Nothing
- 21:52Speaker 1: we can do about it. The high temperature is only
- 21:54Speaker 1: 83 Saturday. Oh, that's not bad at all. Yeah, in Gainesville. Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 1: and that's partly sunny. We've got a big cooling spell
- 22:00Speaker 1: coming on. Thank God. Yeah, man. I'll tell you this run.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Am I in Gainesville, Florida? I want to make sure
- 22:05Speaker 1: I've got this right here. It could be Gainesville, Georgia. Yeah, Gainesville, Florida.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'm seeing that it's cooling off. It's 83 on Saturday.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Nice.
- 22:14Speaker 1: That'd be a nice day in the swamp. 5% chance
- 22:16Speaker 1: of rain.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Did Doreen not say that if they win this game,
- 22:19Speaker 2: the schedule opens up a little bit?
- 22:21Speaker 1: I didn't hear him say that. Maybe you did. Did
- 22:23Speaker 1: you hear him say that? I did not hear him
- 22:24Speaker 1: say that. Yeah, he did. Okay, he said it.
- 22:26Speaker 2: So after this, then they got to go to Missouri,
- 22:30Speaker 2: South Carolina, I'll give them, at Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, at Kentucky.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Is that open enough? I don't know. I mean, yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I mean, there's no open schedule in the SEC right now.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I think the SEC is too good. That's right. We
- 22:42Speaker 1: can pull up any schedule and you're like, my gosh.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Oklahoma's 12th in the league in our books. You could
- 22:47Speaker 1: be like, my gosh, at the games these teams have
- 22:49Speaker 1: to play. I need to see more from Missouri. I mean,
- 22:54Speaker 1: this is a crazy statement. I can't believe I'm saying it.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It opens up, Brownie, for two games and you play
- 22:59Speaker 1: number one and number two in the country. I know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: I know. That's nuts. He said he thought they could
- 23:04Speaker 1: get to nine wins. Wouldn't you think they'd be favored
- 23:07Speaker 1: in five more games after beating Ole Miss? If they
- 23:09Speaker 1: beat Ole Miss, they can get to nine wins. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I think they might be.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Depending on what Missouri, because I pointed this game out yesterday,
- 23:15Speaker 2: if Missouri beats Mississippi State and Florida wins this game
- 23:18Speaker 2: against Ole Miss.
- 23:19Speaker 1: You've got a really interesting game in Columbia next week.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Here's the world we're living in. I was about to say,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm not sold on Missouri quite yet. We'll find out
- 23:27Speaker 1: a lot as they go to Starkville this Saturday. I
- 23:29Speaker 1: can't believe I'm saying that. We're doing our upset alert
- 23:32Speaker 1: in the next segment. That Missouri logo was tempting this weekend.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Lance has thought about it, so we'll see where we go.
- 23:40Speaker 1: But 10-2 is in play for Florida if they win
- 23:43Speaker 1: this week. If they can beat Ole Miss, it's in play.
- 23:45Speaker 2: To Brooks' point, the only time they're going to be underdogs–
- 23:48Speaker 2: Maybe at Missouri, but definitely at Texas and Georgia.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But that's it. I know we joke. Look, the Oklahoma
- 23:54Speaker 1: thing I know is a bit of a running joke
- 23:56Speaker 1: on the show. But having to play Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma
- 23:59Speaker 1: in three consecutive weeks, that's brutal. That's a brutal, brutal stretch.
- 24:04Speaker 1: All right. When we come back, we will do our
- 24:07Speaker 1: upset alert. The show always brought to you by Hard
- 24:09Speaker 1: Rock Bet. It's only available in these states right now.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Florida is the only legal sports book in Florida. So
- 24:17Speaker 1: if you're watching and listening to us even down around
- 24:19Speaker 1: the floor of Bama, maybe you want to just step
- 24:21Speaker 1: across that state line and download that Hard Rock Bet
- 24:25Speaker 1: sports app and enjoy all the great options you've got there. Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
- 24:30Speaker 1: New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia. A lot of good
- 24:32Speaker 1: football going on. And Hard Rock Bet is back with
- 24:35Speaker 1: new features and app updates and promos for you. That
- 24:38Speaker 1: includes the Bet 5 Get $ 100 in bonus bets for
- 24:41Speaker 1: all customers when you sign up. The best place to
- 24:44Speaker 1: get more information to sign up is hardrock.bet backslash clay.
- 24:47Speaker 1: hardrock.bet backslash clay. That's a big one. There are so
- 24:52Speaker 1: many big ones this week down in the swamp, but
- 24:54Speaker 1: number four Ole Miss on the road at number 21, Florida.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Here is Pete Golding getting asked if there's anything he
- 25:02Speaker 1: can take away from Ole Miss's last trip to Florida
- 25:05Speaker 1: where they got beaten 2024, and that cost Ole Miss
- 25:08Speaker 1: a playoff spot.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Obviously, every season is independent of its own, but is
- 25:13Speaker 6: there anything about that experience for you in 2024 that
- 25:16Speaker 6: can help you and your guys this week? No, I mean,
- 25:20Speaker 6: other than obviously you can't take them lightly regardless, you know,
- 25:23Speaker 6: I mean, obviously we're the underdog anyway going into the game. So,
- 25:25Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know how you can take them
- 25:26Speaker 6: lightly anyway, but just the mindset. I think we had
- 25:30Speaker 6: some guys on that team before that hadn't played there.
- 25:33Speaker 6: I think it's a unique atmosphere there. They do a
- 25:35Speaker 6: really good job. It's a hard place to play. So
- 25:38Speaker 6: I don't think anything independently for me, but I knew
- 25:41Speaker 6: going into that game, that's a hard place to play.
- 25:43Speaker 6: We were number one in the country. Alabama went over
- 25:45Speaker 6: there and beat them by one possession. It was a
- 25:47Speaker 6: tough-ass game to do that as well. I know it's
- 25:51Speaker 6: a tough taste to play. They've got really good players.
- 25:54Speaker 6: They're rolling right now. They're playing confident. If there's anybody
- 25:58Speaker 6: in this building that's overlooking this game, there's something wrong
- 26:01Speaker 6: with them. Hopefully our guys understand don't work this hard
- 26:05Speaker 6: to put yourself in the position and then not do
- 26:07Speaker 6: what it takes.
- 26:09Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 26:10Speaker 6: That's why we practice. That's why we coach, but No,
- 26:12Speaker 6: I don't think there's anything from that game that I
- 26:15Speaker 6: can really go into. I'm like, hey, I'm going to
- 26:16Speaker 6: do this more than I did before.
- 26:18Speaker 1: No. Don't worry, Pete. Easy game in Gainesville. I love
- 26:23Speaker 1: how coaches never know the point spread until the point
- 26:25Speaker 1: spread could be a motivator. And then I know we're underdogs.
- 26:28Speaker 1: We're the underdogs. I wish it was four and a half.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I just cursive wrote that Ole Miss down easy. Hotty
- 26:34Speaker 1: toddy for you. Hotty blinking toddy. I don't think it's
- 26:38Speaker 1: an easy game. It is a weird point spread, though.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I mean, that's a weird point spread. Ole Miss.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I would have put it at Florida one and a half.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And I do think Kiwan Lacy, look, he left the
- 26:49Speaker 2: Louisville game banged up. He left the LSU game in
- 26:52Speaker 2: the third quarter banged up. He's questionable. If he doesn't play,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you know, he's worth a point.
- 26:57Speaker 1: If Florida had won at Auburn 44-20 or 44-18, I'd
- 26:59Speaker 1: be like, okay, I see it. But I thought Florida
- 27:05Speaker 1: showed enough cracks at Auburn. And Keewan Lacy's a big loss,
- 27:08Speaker 1: there's no doubt.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I thought the penalties and some defensive mishaps. But, I mean,
- 27:12Speaker 2: that game was too touchdown game.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Oh, no, I'm not saying that it was an actual
- 27:16Speaker 1: close game. Auburn did not have a chance to win
- 27:18Speaker 1: that game. Yeah, but Auburn put up 39 points. That's
- 27:20Speaker 1: my point, yeah. I'm just saying, like, in terms of
- 27:24Speaker 1: points spread, if it had been 44-18, I'd be like, whew.
- 27:26Speaker 1: If a guy who's getting sacked every other play, it
- 27:28Speaker 1: seems like, can put up 39, what can Trinidad Chambliss do?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah he'll they'll put some points.
- 27:34Speaker 1: That's what worries me i do think it'll be attracting
- 27:37Speaker 1: me so 71 70 should be a fun game coming
- 27:39Speaker 1: up this weekend let's do our upset alert um we
- 27:41Speaker 1: do it every week it is brought to you in
- 27:43Speaker 1: part today by our friends at perfect 10 mortgage it
- 27:46Speaker 1: says it all perfect 10 mortgage right there in the
- 27:49Speaker 1: name you can apply and as little as 10 minutes
- 27:52Speaker 1: you can close in 10 days with our friends at
- 27:55Speaker 1: perfect 10 mortgage who allow you to date the rate
- 27:58Speaker 1: and marry the house. That is a great way of
- 28:00Speaker 1: doing it, man, because if you're buying new construction, for instance,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you can have with them a builder program, builder funded
- 28:07Speaker 1: rate buy downs that can get you the rate the
- 28:09Speaker 1: bank simply cannot print. Again, it allows you to date
- 28:12Speaker 1: the rate and marry the house. Straight talk on what
- 28:15Speaker 1: you qualify for. This is built for real people. not
- 28:19Speaker 1: for meaningless paperwork. It is Perfect 10 Mortgage. That's Perfect
- 28:23Speaker 1: 10 Mortgage, Perfect 10 Mortgage, Perfect10Mortgage. com, Perfect10Mortgage. com, or call 855-789-1010, 855-789-1010.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Perfect 10 Mortgage is a DBA of Network Funding LP,
- 28:40Speaker 1: NMLS 2297, equal housing lender. All borrowers must qualify. This
- 28:44Speaker 1: advertisement is not a promise to make a loan. It
- 28:46Speaker 1: is Perfect 10 Mortgage. Perfect10Mortgage. com or 855-789-1010. Perfect 10 Mortgage
- 28:53Speaker 1: in pursuit of a more perfect mortgage. All right, let's
- 28:56Speaker 1: go over the rules for you. It's very much almost
- 28:58Speaker 1: identical to the College Game Day Superdog segment, Upset Alert Time.
- 29:03Speaker 1: where it's got to be four and a half. This
- 29:05Speaker 1: is key as we move throughout the year because there's
- 29:07Speaker 1: a lot of three and a halfs that people like.
- 29:09Speaker 1: It's got to be at least a four and a
- 29:11Speaker 1: half point spread. You get five points for the cover,
- 29:14Speaker 1: five points plus the spread for an outright win. So
- 29:18Speaker 1: sometimes it's not smart to just play four and a half,
- 29:20Speaker 1: five and a half. Maybe if you see a good
- 29:22Speaker 1: one That can get you 13, 15, 18 extra points.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You can widen the gap in the standings as you
- 29:27Speaker 1: move throughout the year. I had this thing like it
- 29:30Speaker 1: was done. I had a 15.5-point underdog. They're up 28-7.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Whoa, that's a winner. At halftime, you guys, I guess,
- 29:37Speaker 2: weren't paying attention. Miami of Ohio on the road against Cincinnati.
- 29:40Speaker 2: You know, I was not watching that game.
- 29:41Speaker 1: I was going to get you 20.5 points.
- 29:44Speaker 2: So I gave it out, too, at Lance's log. But
- 29:46Speaker 2: watching that game of the second half, they missed two
- 29:49Speaker 2: field goals. They threw an interception. They had three fumbles
- 29:52Speaker 2: all in the second half. They couldn't have done anything worse.
- 29:56Speaker 2: They found a way.
- 29:57Speaker 1: To lose that game 35-31. Yeah, so things like that
- 30:01Speaker 1: make it fun to watch these games. I will not
- 30:03Speaker 1: watch mine this week, but here's the standings. Everybody got
- 30:07Speaker 1: points this week except me. Forrester and I are still
- 30:10Speaker 1: the only ones with the outright winner. Forrester, you got
- 30:12Speaker 1: yours this weekend, correct?
- 30:14Speaker 5: I did. Team Rich Rod put it on the Cavaliers.
- 30:17Speaker 1: They sure did. West Virginia over Virginia. A little bit
- 30:19Speaker 1: of a surprise there in your book. A little bit, yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I would agree. And Oklahoma State had them down. Excuse me.
- 30:25Speaker 2: They play Oklahoma State this weekend. But Virginia had them
- 30:28Speaker 2: down early. And then the second half, Michael Hawkins just
- 30:31Speaker 2: took the game over.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Michael Hawkins, who I was going to bring up, West
- 30:35Speaker 1: Virginia quarterback, left Oklahoma because they brought John Mateer in. Yep.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Well, they didn't think Michael Hawkins could throw it.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Well, he couldn't. He couldn't. I don't think they changed anything.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Michael Hawkins looks really good running that zone read rushing
- 30:50Speaker 1: offense of Rich Rod.
- 30:51Speaker 2: This scoreboard can change quickly. I cannot believe Miami, Ohio
- 30:54Speaker 2: lost that game.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it can change quickly. Right now, LT got a cover.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Brooks got a cover. Brown got his second cover. Forrester
- 31:02Speaker 1: got an outright winner. I've got an outright winner. We
- 31:04Speaker 1: look for covers or winners this week in our upset alert.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Let's start with you, Lance. Where do you want to go, man?
- 31:10Speaker 1: I am going to go to the SEC. SEC.
- 31:13Speaker 3: SEC.
- 31:14Speaker 1: SEC.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I started drawing this yesterday. And after my second attempt,
- 31:21Speaker 2: I told Luke he was back there watching. He was like,
- 31:22Speaker 2: you've got no shot at this. So I just gave up.
- 31:24Speaker 1: So it's shaky. But I had to go old school logo.
- 31:28Speaker 1: So you went with the wagon. I like the wagon.
- 31:30Speaker 1: What were you trying to do, the interlocking OU? No, no, no.
- 31:33Speaker 1: He's trying to do the wagon, but the horse.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so this was like their logo in the 50s. Tyler,
- 31:38Speaker 2: you can pull it real quick if you can find it.
- 31:41Speaker 2: But yeah, the horses aren't great. But back to this game.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Two horses? Yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Oklahoma's defense, good enough to keep them in it. John
- 31:51Speaker 2: Mateer cannot put the ball in harm's way, though. This
- 31:55Speaker 2: is going to have to be a defensive struggle back
- 31:57Speaker 2: and forth. I think Oklahoma's going to play it extremely tight.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Georgia has not been tested. You're not that far off. Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 1: that's pretty good. I'll give you credit on that one.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Good job.
- 32:05Speaker 7: It's a tough angle to interpret.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It is. I thought the horse was dead. I thought
- 32:11Speaker 1: we'd literally... Well, Haysky's getting there. I thought we were
- 32:13Speaker 1: literally beating a dead horse. He's on the Oregon Trail.
- 32:15Speaker 1: They're leaving Oklahoma. They got dysentery already? Yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I do think this is going to be a really
- 32:19Speaker 2: good game. I don't think you guys see a path
- 32:22Speaker 2: for Oklahoma.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I do not see a path for Oklahoma. That's how
- 32:25Speaker 1: you get 14.5 points in conference. Yeah, I just think
- 32:28Speaker 1: nothing to do with Oklahoma. I just think Georgia is
- 32:30Speaker 1: that good. Oh, there's something to do with Oklahoma. I
- 32:32Speaker 1: think Georgia is that good, but I think this is
- 32:35Speaker 1: easy money. You know what will be happening to the timeout?
- 32:37Speaker 1: He doesn't care what you said. He wanted me to
- 32:39Speaker 1: say it, and I said it for him. Nate Frazier
- 32:41Speaker 1: is banged up.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Gunner Stockton has not seen a defense like this this year.
- 32:46Speaker 2: 12 sacks already, fourth in the FBS. They're only giving
- 32:49Speaker 2: up 104 passing yards, so I think there's going to
- 32:51Speaker 2: be a ton of pressure on Gunner. Oklahoma's already played
- 32:55Speaker 2: in the big house this year, so I don't think
- 32:56Speaker 2: the atmosphere is going to bother them.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a heck of a game.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I really do. I don't know who's doing that game.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I don't know who's doing the announcers. Herb Street and
- 33:06Speaker 1: Fowler are doing Tennessee and Texas, but we'll be coming
- 33:09Speaker 1: back from a timeout, and the play-by-play guy will say...
- 33:12Speaker 1: Look at these Georgia defensive linemen doing these drills again.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Apparently they're not getting enough from the Oklahoma offense again
- 33:18Speaker 1: this week. I would assume it's going to be Joe
- 33:21Speaker 1: Tess and Jesse Fultz. You think so? Is it the
- 33:23Speaker 1: 2.30 ABC game? Yeah.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Don't tell me McIlroy and McDonough, the voice of the
- 33:28Speaker 1: Crimson Tide, are they back on South Carolina-Alabama this week? No,
- 33:30Speaker 1: they'll be prime time on ABC. Yeah, they'll be A & M- LSU. Oh,
- 33:34Speaker 1: that's right.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Just McElroy's going to get the game. Who do we
- 33:38Speaker 1: have for Oregon USC on NBC? That's Todd Blackledge and
- 33:42Speaker 1: Noah Eagle. Yeah, Little Eagle. Little Eagle. Back to the
- 33:46Speaker 1: upset alert. LT's got Oklahoma as his upset alert against Georgia.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Let's go to Brooks on the back row with his
- 33:53Speaker 1: very small teeny tiny board.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Jim, can I actually defer to Scott because we have
- 33:58Speaker 2: the same pick and I don't want to take away
- 34:00Speaker 2: from his AI.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do that. Okay, well, so Brooks and Forrester.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Separate picks. We never let anybody know who we're doing.
- 34:08Speaker 1: So they walked in today with the same pick. So
- 34:10Speaker 1: both Brooks and Forrester, give us your AI, Forrester.
- 34:13Speaker 5: All right.
- 34:14Speaker 8: So I hope everybody watching joins us Monday mornings with
- 34:20Speaker 8: Tom Lugenbill on Monday Morning Live.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I would agree with that. Great promo. Yeah. Right? I
- 34:26Speaker 1: thought so. Is this a Lugenbill game that he's doing?
- 34:30Speaker 5: Well, no.
- 34:31Speaker 8: But one of the things that I've heard Lugenbill say
- 34:34Speaker 8: recently is that nobody is safe.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Nobody's safe. Nobody's safe. He's right.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Nobody.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Nobody is safe.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Nobody, including friends of the show. Like Matt Rule.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Oh, no. Don't do it. Don't do it.
- 34:48Speaker 5: We're going to East Lansing. We got another mascot fight.
- 34:52Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Sparty's going to put it on Herbie Husker.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That Sparty could take down a lot of other mascots.
- 34:57Speaker 1: He's thick.
- 34:58Speaker 8: And then Matt Rule in his TNR gear is going
- 35:01Speaker 8: to be incredulous on the sideline.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Don't have him losing in our gear.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Give me Sparty plus five and a half.
- 35:07Speaker 1: His black hoodie of death not working.
- 35:10Speaker 5: It's not.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'll tell you, they've been solid. They played Notre Dame
- 35:13Speaker 1: about as good as you can play them. I didn't
- 35:15Speaker 1: know that. I didn't think you were talking about Nebraska.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Nebraska's unbeaten right now. They are, Jim.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Wrong team's favored in this game.
- 35:22Speaker 1: It's bad loss. God, I hate to make another good pick.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Bad loss for friend of the show. I don't know
- 35:26Speaker 1: who I cheer for against the most in this. It's
- 35:30Speaker 1: between you and Lance. I also pick Michigan State. Wow, two.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Scott looked over at me like, oh, no. And I'm like, okay,
- 35:41Speaker 5: I'll let you go first so I don't ruin it.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Truthfully, you're Arkansas. I don't really pay attention to you.
- 35:45Speaker 5: That's all right.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Wow.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Okay, here's mine. You're going to think this is a
- 35:50Speaker 1: Canadian Football League logo when I put it up. We
- 35:53Speaker 1: don't do CFL and upset alert, Jim. No chance in hell.
- 35:56Speaker 1: It's late at night, but I'll never, ever. But I
- 35:59Speaker 1: feel like in their first MAAC game ever, Sacramento State
- 36:05Speaker 1: is going to beat UMass. They're getting four and a
- 36:07Speaker 1: half at home against unbeaten UMass. UMass is unbeaten. I
- 36:12Speaker 1: don't think UMass, the Minutemen, can handle the pressure of
- 36:15Speaker 1: the college football world talking about them as an unbeaten team.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Sacramento State leads FBS in turnover margin. They are minus six.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Nobody has turned it over more and not taken it
- 36:29Speaker 1: away more than Sacramento State. They don't get turnovers, and
- 36:33Speaker 1: they give it up all the time. They put it together.
- 36:36Speaker 1: They've been building. They paid their way to join this league,
- 36:40Speaker 1: the MAAC. They're actually paying UMass to come out to
- 36:43Speaker 1: play the game in the MAAC. Even though it's a
- 36:45Speaker 1: conference game, they're paying for the travel, the hotel. It's
- 36:49Speaker 1: all Sacramento State this weekend. Money on the line, take
- 36:52Speaker 1: the four and a half, Sac State. That logo, do
- 36:54Speaker 1: you have any idea Sac State's mascot? I don't watch
- 36:57Speaker 1: that football. They're the Hornets. No, I was just going
- 36:59Speaker 1: to say, by that logo, there's no chance you could
- 37:02Speaker 1: tell what they are. Oh, no. What are they? No,
- 37:04Speaker 1: they're the Hornets. I don't even understand what the logo is.
- 37:09Speaker 1: But it's a bunch of curbs.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Like some kind of sea creature.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 7: I was thinking serpents or dragons.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yeah, almost like the crack in the Seattle.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:18Speaker 1: If it was the Rough Riders, you'd be like, oh,
- 37:22Speaker 1: Saskatchewan's playing this weekend.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Saskatchewan.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Saskatchewan. Have you seen the teams that UMass has beaten
- 37:27Speaker 1: to get 3-0? They beat Rutgers. Since then, Sacred Heart
- 37:34Speaker 1: and Stonehill. Can you tell me where either one of
- 37:36Speaker 1: those schools are? Nope, nope. Not on my TV.
- 37:39Speaker 5: Sacred Heart's in Anniston, right?
- 37:41Speaker 1: That's right, yeah. Stony Hill's just off 119. It's a subdivision.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Here we go. Big winner for me. That'll be nine
- 37:48Speaker 1: and a half more points. Put it in there, Sac State.
- 37:50Speaker 1: The Bandit's back. Hey, Bandit, how are you doing? What's up, losers? Losers.
- 37:54Speaker 1: You got a cover. I did get a cover. We're
- 37:56Speaker 1: just warming up, Jim. You got covers two out of
- 37:59Speaker 1: three weeks.
- 37:59Speaker 5: We did.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Now, I did not realize you guys changed the rules
- 38:02Speaker 1: on me. Same rules for five years. Wait a minute. No, Dunaway,
- 38:07Speaker 1: he watches game day and he changes with those guys.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I know. I think the rules have changed. It's the
- 38:11Speaker 1: same rule. It has not been the same rule. Three years.
- 38:14Speaker 5: At least three years that I've used that same graphic.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It has not changed at all. The rules have it.
- 38:19Speaker 1: So we're not now picking teams that will get beat
- 38:21Speaker 1: by the point spread because of Solance's drawing. Oklahoma. Burn
- 38:29Speaker 1: the wagons. We're not coming back. Oklahoma. My wife's got
- 38:34Speaker 1: a better offense than Oklahoma. General South. I don't know
- 38:37Speaker 1: what that means. It's a lot. Hi, boys. Hi, boys.
- 38:41Speaker 1: They've been so excited about this segment all week. Since yesterday. Because. Actually,
- 38:47Speaker 1: since this morning. Since this morning.
- 38:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry you changed your logo.
- 38:49Speaker 1: This morning. Don't pull back the curtain. I had the
- 38:54Speaker 1: first time ever a 30-star pick this weekend.
- 38:58Speaker 5: That's a lot of stars.
- 38:59Speaker 1: It is a lot of stars. I had 30 of
- 39:00Speaker 1: them on it. And I told, you know, I don't
- 39:02Speaker 1: take any clients that don't have a liquid net worth
- 39:05Speaker 1: of $ 50 million or more. And I told them, clean
- 39:07Speaker 1: out the bank account. All of it, all of it
- 39:10Speaker 1: on Vandy plus three and a half. Easiest cover ever.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Easy winner. Vandy minus three and a half. Easiest winner
- 39:16Speaker 1: I've ever had, boy. Easy winner. So when I give
- 39:18Speaker 1: you a win, I got a drink.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Get you a swig there.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 39:22Speaker 1: It's hard to keep this voice for three minutes. You
- 39:24Speaker 1: sound parched. I know. When I make a pick, you
- 39:28Speaker 1: know you can take it to the bank. Wait a second.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Did we just find out that Nate Oates is the
- 39:31Speaker 1: Brown Bandit? Only in basketball. Starting to sound like Christian
- 39:35Speaker 1: Bell Batman.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Bandit's only got one bottle of water. Nate Oates has five.
- 39:39Speaker 1: At all times. You've had three in this segment by now.
- 39:41Speaker 1: All right. How many points do you get in overtime
- 39:46Speaker 1: on those stupid two-point conversion things? Two. Two. This game's
- 39:49Speaker 1: going to be two-nothing. I got Iowa plus five and
- 39:53Speaker 1: a half. It goes scoreless to overtime. They can't score
- 39:57Speaker 1: on the big field overtime, so they go to the
- 39:59Speaker 1: short field overtime, the short bus overtime. And then.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Iowa plus five and a half. That's a really good Hawkeye.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Thank you. It is a very good Hawkeye, Lance. Thank
- 40:08Speaker 1: you very much.
- 40:09Speaker 5: That thing's got a mullet.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Iowa, it is the mullet. It's the bird with the mullet.
- 40:12Speaker 1: It's the Iowa Hawkeyes. They're giving me five and a
- 40:15Speaker 1: half points in the big house. Tyler Johns. We don't
- 40:19Speaker 1: need him! We don't need him! Did you throw away
- 40:21Speaker 1: that black Sharpie? Might as well. The old Sharpie police
- 40:26Speaker 1: every week. Iowa, plus five and a half, wins outright
- 40:31Speaker 1: in the big house.
- 40:32Speaker 7: I mean, it looks like it's dripping a little bit, too.
- 40:34Speaker 1: No points in this game. Can we get new Sharpies
- 40:37Speaker 1: before next week? I don't know why this segment always
- 40:40Speaker 1: has to end up with Sharpies. You don't want Sharpies.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That'll stay on the board forever. That's right. I think
- 40:45Speaker 1: we can get it off. We need XCO markers.
- 40:47Speaker 7: With enough 409, anything's possible.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Don't spray it in the back room.
- 40:52Speaker 5: Brown loves that 409.
- 40:53Speaker 1: We do need all new markers. Let's get new markers
- 40:56Speaker 1: for next week. This was a new marker. It was.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I still got it right here.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Look.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Some thick shading there. Those do pretty good black, by
- 41:07Speaker 1: the way. That's the only one that would work. I know.
- 41:09Speaker 1: They do pretty good black. Yeah. All right. Use this.
- 41:13Speaker 1: You never go back. When we come back, we'll use
- 41:19Speaker 1: these other dry erase boards. All right.
- 41:21Speaker 4: More boards.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Clay didn't know what he was getting into. What a
- 41:25Speaker 1: budget this show has. Tested or not. Tested or not.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Some of these names have popped up already in the show.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Tested or not. Tested or not. When we come back
- 41:35Speaker 1: on the next round, presented by Hard Rock Bets on
- 41:37Speaker 1: Sporting State. Anybody else ever hum that soundtrack on the
- 41:41Speaker 1: weekends occasionally? Never. Never? Brown's about to tell you about XXXY.
- 41:47Speaker 1: The rest of the country finally catching on what we
- 41:50Speaker 1: talked about a little earlier today. this month when the
- 41:53Speaker 1: college football season started out, when I said, hey, remember
- 41:55Speaker 1: when they locked in these kick times? I think we
- 41:58Speaker 1: tied our hands with ABC and ESPN. Everyone now, for
- 42:02Speaker 1: those wondering why Texas at Tennessee, number one Texas at Tennessee,
- 42:06Speaker 1: is a noon Eastern, 11 Central. Disney had to lock
- 42:09Speaker 1: in time slots back in June and incorrectly guessed that
- 42:13Speaker 1: Texas A & M at LSU would be a bigger game.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Back in the summer, it didn't look like Texas... A &
- 42:20Speaker 1: M at LSU would be the bigger game. Well, it
- 42:23Speaker 1: still would.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Have been a huge game if A & M just
- 42:26Speaker 2: wouldn't have shit the.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Bed against Kentucky. Meanwhile, here we are with Texas and
- 42:31Speaker 1: Tennessee going... At 12 noon, 11 central, up in Neyland Stadium. XXXY,
- 42:37Speaker 1: and we'll do some tested, not tested. All right, XXXY clothing.
- 42:41Speaker 1: This is Jennifer Say. She was a world-class gymnast. She's
- 42:45Speaker 1: a national champion gymnast. She went on to be Levi's
- 42:48Speaker 1: brand president, and she walked away from that corporate job
- 42:51Speaker 1: rather than say something she simply did not believe in.
- 42:54Speaker 1: When she walked away, she started XXXY Athletics instead. And
- 42:58Speaker 1: the mission, in their words, empower female athletes and take
- 43:01Speaker 1: a stand for fair competition. They called it the T
- 43:05Speaker 1: that launched a movement. That's what they call it right
- 43:07Speaker 1: there at XXXY, the T that launched a movement. And it's,
- 43:12Speaker 1: by the way, where you can get your official Nashville
- 43:13Speaker 1: Balls gear, Clay Travis' future WNBA franchise. You've got trucker
- 43:17Speaker 1: hats and tees out now there. This is real athletic apparel,
- 43:20Speaker 1: not just a slogan on a shirt. We've got performance
- 43:23Speaker 1: tops we're talking about here, tanks, sports bras, leggings, shorts,
- 43:26Speaker 1: training sets, hoodies, hats, graphic tees, men's and women's. It
- 43:29Speaker 1: is clothing worn by athletes who've actually put something on
- 43:31Speaker 1: the line. New customers, you get 20% off your first
- 43:34Speaker 1: order when you sign up. Free shipping over $ 100, xxxyathletics.com.
- 43:39Speaker 1: That is xx-xyathletics.com. Can we all agree, not tested yet, Georgia,
- 43:48Speaker 1: Notre Dame, Indiana, Miami.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say Notre Dame a little more tested
- 43:56Speaker 2: than the other three. I mean, they've played two Big
- 43:58Speaker 2: Ten teams, Wisconsin and Michigan State.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Wisconsin and Michigan State. So you'd put Notre Dame in
- 44:02Speaker 1: the tested? I wouldn't say tested, but more tested than
- 44:04Speaker 1: that group. You'd put them in a bad group. Yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 1: the other three in that group have not been tested
- 44:08Speaker 1: at all. Okay, can we say Texas and Ole Miss
- 44:15Speaker 1: have been tested? Oh, yeah, for sure. Here's where the
- 44:19Speaker 1: debate starts.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I mean, Ole Miss is the only team that's beat
- 44:21Speaker 2: two ranked teams in college football.
- 44:23Speaker 1: It's what Pete does, man. I'm just saying it's what
- 44:25Speaker 1: he does.
- 44:25Speaker 5: That's all he does.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I was just, for time constraints, I was trying to
- 44:28Speaker 1: get the obviouses out of the way. Michigan tested? Yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 1: they played an SEC team, regardless of how we feel
- 44:38Speaker 1: about Oklahoma. I mean, an SEC team in the big house. Okay,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I would agree. And maybe, maybe we'll see this weekend
- 44:45Speaker 1: the group of six teams representative in the playoffs. I mean,
- 44:49Speaker 1: Western Michigan could still do that if they can win
- 44:50Speaker 1: this game this weekend against Boise. Yeah, what do you
- 44:52Speaker 1: think a ticket in Kalamazoo is? I checked this. Oh, wow.
- 44:55Speaker 1: How big is that stadium? It's Boise State at Western Michigan,
- 44:57Speaker 1: for those that don't know. And Western Michigan, a six
- 45:00Speaker 1: and a half point underdog at home? Yeah, yeah. I
- 45:02Speaker 1: looked at it on Upstate. I have no idea. You
- 45:04Speaker 1: can get a ticket as low as $ 38.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Really?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Yeah. For arguably the... Waldo Field. For arguably the biggest
- 45:11Speaker 1: game in Western Michigan history. Oh, I don't think it's arguable.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Go back to the P.J.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Flack and maybe one of those games that Put them
- 45:17Speaker 2: in the MAAC championship to get to a.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but this could get you in the playoffs. I mean,
- 45:21Speaker 1: this could punch their ticket. I mean, they did play
- 45:23Speaker 1: in a New Year's Six.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:26Speaker 1: 35 bucks? BYU tested against Arizona, right?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll give them a test. That was a good win.
- 45:32Speaker 3: No.
- 45:32Speaker 1: That was a good win. Alabama.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Alabama.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Tested yet i'm gonna say tested they've played an sec
- 45:39Speaker 1: road game not not a lot of teams have done
- 45:41Speaker 1: that just yet.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I mean it looks tricky now kentucky had them down
- 45:45Speaker 2: at half and then kentucky to be able to go
- 45:46Speaker 2: on the road and kyle and win that game so.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Yeah i would go test i know florida state's probably
- 45:50Speaker 1: going to start falling apart here and probably fire their
- 45:52Speaker 1: coach mid-season so it's going to be hard to argue
- 45:55Speaker 1: that but to meet kentucky down on the road at
- 45:58Speaker 1: the half and having to come back i mean it's
- 45:59Speaker 1: a conference road game yeah are we gonna disagree on
- 46:02Speaker 1: any of these we may um Tennessee, tested yet or not? Not, no.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Georgia Tech's no good. Georgia Tech's terrible. I'll put a
- 46:11Speaker 1: no as well. Utah, tested yet or not? No. I mean, Arkansas.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Arkansas is the best team they've played for. Worst team
- 46:20Speaker 1: in the SEC. Florida, tested yet or not? Yeah, 100%.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I mean, you went on, again, I'm going to say
- 46:27Speaker 1: it again, a road game in the SEC.
- 46:28Speaker 2: It's Kentucky-like.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I think Kentucky's better than Auburn right now, maybe.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say Kentucky's better, but it's tougher to
- 46:36Speaker 2: play in Jordan-Hare.
- 46:38Speaker 3: 100%.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Night game, Jordan-Hare versus early game at Commonwealth. I would
- 46:42Speaker 1: go not tested yet. Penn State. You went not tested.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Penn State. Tested yet or not? Oh, not tested.
- 46:47Speaker 3: No.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Not even close. I don't even know the best team
- 46:49Speaker 1: they've played. Temple. Is it Temple? I don't know. They
- 46:52Speaker 1: played them on the road. I mean, there were probably
- 46:53Speaker 1: more Penn State fans there. USC, tested yet or not? No.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Not at all. Fresno's, the San Jose's, the Rutgers. Yeah, Rutgers,
- 47:01Speaker 1: not at all. Conference road game, it doesn't count as that. Iowa,
- 47:04Speaker 1: tested yet or not?
- 47:07Speaker 2: You know, I don't think Iowa State's any good. But
- 47:11Speaker 2: it's a rivalry game, Cy Hall.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I'm going to say not testing. Another game I looked at,
- 47:16Speaker 1: the Brown Bandit told me about on Upset Alert, Iowa State's,
- 47:19Speaker 1: I mean, seven and a half with Utah coming in?
- 47:21Speaker 1: It's up to eight and a half. Is it up
- 47:22Speaker 1: to eight and a half? Okay. When I looked at it,
- 47:23Speaker 1: it was seven and a half. I mean, that seemed
- 47:25Speaker 1: a little small. I mean, it could be a tricky
- 47:29Speaker 1: place to play. Yeah. I think Utah's much better, though.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I would agree. That's why I thought the number was
- 47:35Speaker 1: kind of small. Texas Tech. Tested yet or not? I mean,
- 47:41Speaker 1: I'm going to say tested. They've played a top 25.
- 47:43Speaker 1: You say not? Houston's good. Are they? I think.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I mean, on paper, that's their most difficult game of
- 47:49Speaker 2: the entire year.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I think Wegman, I mean, you can't do this because
- 47:56Speaker 1: how long ago was he at Texas A & M?
- 47:58Speaker 1: Two years. Two years ago? He's a better quarterback than
- 48:00Speaker 1: Marcel Reed. If they had Wegman instead of Marcel Reed,
- 48:03Speaker 1: Texas A & M would be a better team. I
- 48:06Speaker 1: don't disagree. Mississippi State, tested yet or not? Yeah, they
- 48:10Speaker 1: play in South Carolina. I'll give them tested. How good
- 48:12Speaker 1: is South Carolina? I don't know. And even Minnesota.
- 48:14Speaker 2: I mean, to Doering's point, it was a bunch of
- 48:15Speaker 2: white guys running around.
- 48:16Speaker 1: But Minnesota is still a middling team in the Big Ten. Yep.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I'll give you, put those two together. I'll give you that.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Kansas State.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Tulane, not enough. I'm going to say not tested.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess.
- 48:30Speaker 4: I mean.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Not the same Tulane. But they played Arizona State. Tulane
- 48:35Speaker 1: feels different with Will Hall. Wait a minute. They played
- 48:37Speaker 1: Arizona State. Kansas State did. No, Kansas played Arizona State. Yeah,
- 48:40Speaker 1: in London this past weekend. Kansas. Oh, that's right. Yeah,
- 48:44Speaker 1: my bad. Had the wrong team. Second time you've said that.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I know. Why do I keep thinking they played Kansas State?
- 48:48Speaker 1: Because Kansas State last year played in Ireland. I even
- 48:51Speaker 1: watched some of that game. Nebraska. Tested yet or not?
- 48:56Speaker 1: I don't know who they played. Remind me. Yes, you're
- 48:57Speaker 1: going to have to remind me of your schedule. Yeah,
- 49:00Speaker 1: I don't think so either. Missouri, tested yet or not
- 49:02Speaker 1: for Kansas. Yeah, it's not Kansas State, but they played
- 49:05Speaker 1: at Kansas. I would say they're tested. Yeah. And look,
- 49:10Speaker 1: Troy's not. That was a closer game probably than some
- 49:13Speaker 1: people thought, 27-17.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I think Eli Drinkwitz made sure it was.
- 49:16Speaker 1: A close game. You think so?
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Missouri's got something for Mississippi State this week.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Interesting. I do. I just don't trust them. But, I mean,
- 49:21Speaker 1: you get what I'm saying. Troy is not just a
- 49:23Speaker 1: complete pushover at a conference. I mean, that's a solid team.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Virginia Tech, tested, not tested. These are all unbeaten teams. Well,
- 49:30Speaker 1: they are scoring a bunch of points.
- 49:31Speaker 2: They went into Maryland, not a difficult place, but still,
- 49:35Speaker 2: that's a road win in the Big Ten.
- 49:37Speaker 1: When did we start calling it the shell? That's new
- 49:39Speaker 1: to me this year. It's a shell of a program.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I called it the shell this morning.
- 49:44Speaker 2: I read this morning that they gave him $ 47 million. Now,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I don't know what all that includes. I'm talking about
- 49:50Speaker 2: Mike Loxley. They said they provided all the resources he
- 49:55Speaker 2: needed this year. And this is not going to be
- 49:58Speaker 2: good for Mike Loxley.
- 49:59Speaker 1: No, it takes more than one year, though. I think
- 50:02Speaker 1: he's been there eight. I know. I'm just saying I
- 50:05Speaker 1: need $ 47 million two years, and then I should be
- 50:08Speaker 1: winning a lot next year.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Well, $ 47 million, again, I don't know if that's the
- 50:11Speaker 2: number I read, but that should at least get you
- 50:13Speaker 2: to a bowl.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Do you think Pitt's been tested yet? They're unbeaten.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Who was the second-week game? I'm trying to remember.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I had an upset. They played Syracuse. That was this
- 50:25Speaker 1: past Thursday. UCF. UCF. That's right. I had an upset alert.
- 50:29Speaker 3: No, they're not tested.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Last one, UCLA. Tested yet or not? Not yet. Not yet,
- 50:34Speaker 1: but again, I watch them a lot because it's that
- 50:36Speaker 1: latest game every week now. San Diego State ain't worth shit.
- 50:40Speaker 1: San Diego State's not good. I don't know if Cal is.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Cal plays Clemson Friday night. We'll maybe learn a little
- 50:45Speaker 1: bit more there. Yeah, Purdue's very average. Purdue's very average,
- 50:47Speaker 1: but I like the way they look. Do you like
- 50:48Speaker 1: Purdue's quarterback? Huh? Ryan Brown? Yeah. He can play. 29
- 50:54Speaker 1: FBS Power 4 unbeaten teams still as we go to
- 50:57Speaker 1: Week 4. Is that too many? Should we be playing...
- 51:01Speaker 1: Tell me how many make it to October.
- 51:04Speaker 2: I mean, how many of those 29 are guaranteed to
- 51:07Speaker 2: lose this week with undefeated on undefeated?
- 51:09Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of them. A lot of them.
- 51:13Speaker 1: You get some of those in top 25. I mean, Northwestern,
- 51:15Speaker 1: Indiana just started off on Friday night. They're both undefeated, right?
- 51:18Speaker 1: That's right, yep. That's a loss for one of them. Texas, Tennessee. Texas, Tennessee.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I'm going to miss some of these, but... We're just
- 51:30Speaker 1: going to roll with it. Ole Miss, Florida. Ole Miss, Florida. Iowa, Michigan.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Boise State, Western Michigan. Western Michigan loss. Even though Spencer
- 51:40Speaker 1: Danielson said, which I would too if I was playing
- 51:42Speaker 1: Western Michigan, in my eyes, they beat Michigan. That was
- 51:45Speaker 1: his quote. Yeah, I would play up to that as
- 51:48Speaker 1: best I could. Iowa, Michigan's on there. That's a guaranteed loss.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Cincy and Kansas State, I think, are both undefeated.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Missouri and Mississippi State are both undefeated.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Several that should be unbeaten versus unbeaten. I bring that
- 52:05Speaker 1: up only because Georgia and Clemson had made that long
- 52:08Speaker 1: deal that was supposed to go all the way through...
- 52:11Speaker 1: I mean, what was it?
- 52:13Speaker 3: 2033.
- 52:14Speaker 1: They're supposed to play every year through 2033. They canceled
- 52:17Speaker 1: that yesterday. So Georgia-Clemson, which... For those that don't know,
- 52:22Speaker 1: Athens and Clemson, South Carolina, other than Georgia Tech, that's
- 52:27Speaker 1: about as close of a rivalry game Georgia's going to get.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I guess Auburn. Auburn's pretty close. Auburn's a little closer
- 52:34Speaker 1: than Clemson, but Clemson's really close.
- 52:36Speaker 2: I was wondering when Georgia would back off these games, though.
- 52:40Speaker 1: That was every year through 2033. Don't you get the
- 52:43Speaker 1: feeling that that wasn't just Georgia because the SEC went
- 52:45Speaker 1: to nine games, the ACC went to nine as well,
- 52:48Speaker 1: and Clemson... Clemson doesn't seem to be the Clemson of old.
- 52:53Speaker 1: They probably want that easier game, too. They're a underdog
- 52:56Speaker 1: at Cal.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Like, literally, let me ask you guys, how many teams
- 52:59Speaker 2: in the SEC right now at this moment would be
- 53:03Speaker 2: underdogs in Berkeley?
- 53:04Speaker 1: Arkansas. Arkansas, for sure. Is that the only one? That
- 53:07Speaker 1: would be the only one. I think that's it. I mean,
- 53:10Speaker 1: South Carolina? Vanderbilt, maybe. South Carolina? I don't think so. Really? Yeah.
- 53:16Speaker 1: South Carolina does not seem to like some of their
- 53:18Speaker 1: parts right now. I mean, you've got a good quarterback
- 53:19Speaker 1: on the Norris Sellers. Nick Harbaugh was back a receiver.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You've got Dylan Stewart. Yeah, potentially. This is what's going
- 53:26Speaker 1: to get. Potentially three first-round draft picks. What's going to
- 53:28Speaker 1: get Beamer fired? Yeah.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Well, what's going to get Beamer fired is he's lost
- 53:32Speaker 2: 10 of his last 12 to power four teams.
- 53:34Speaker 1: But he's doing it with these guys we just mentioned.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I mean, those guys play in a lot of places.
- 53:38Speaker 2: But that says a lot about Clemson. I mean, there
- 53:40Speaker 2: would only be for sure one SEC team that would
- 53:43Speaker 2: be in their spot.
- 53:44Speaker 1: That South Carolina team comes and plays Alabama this week,
- 53:47Speaker 1: and there's no given win in the SEC except for Arkansas.
- 53:52Speaker 1: It's a tough game. I could see that being a
- 53:54Speaker 1: one-possession game. Boy, it has been the last two years.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Do you think Ryan Grubb and that offense gets booted
- 53:59Speaker 1: at any point on Saturday?
- 54:02Speaker 2: If I'm in the crowd and they're struggling, you better
- 54:04Speaker 2: believe it.
- 54:05Speaker 1: You better believe it. One thing I can guarantee you,
- 54:07Speaker 1: Lance will not be in that crowd. You better believe it.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Even though I've given you temperature in the 80s? You
- 54:13Speaker 1: know what it is in my basement? Not 80s. 70,
- 54:15Speaker 1: if I remember correctly. That's the next round presented by
