- 0:012nd Corinthians chapter 12 Let us pray.
- 0:09Our Lord and our King, our God, our everything, the Lord of
- 0:14Lords, the King of kings, righteous, faithful and true.
- 0:19Lord, you are so good to us. Lord, thank you for waking us
- 0:23up, giving us life, giving us breath.
- 0:26God, thank you for our ability to come and to reason and to
- 0:30thank. Lord, thank you, God, that
- 0:33you've given us the truth, that you've chosen us before the
- 0:36foundations of the earth. Lord, I thank you that where you
- 0:39are we will be. God, I thank you that Christ is
- 0:42coming back soon. I thank you, Lord, that we can
- 0:46know you got to be known by you. Father, I thank you for who you
- 0:50are and what you do, Lord, and what you represent, the goodness
- 0:54that is in this world. God, you are the only good that
- 0:58is in this world. So, Lord, I pray in the name of
- 1:00Jesus that you will supernaturally fill us with the
- 1:04Holy Ghost, fill us overflowing, God.
- 1:07And I pray that we could be emptied out of ourselves,
- 1:11emptied out of this world, emptied out of vanity, Father,
- 1:15emptied out of pride, emptied out of reputation, emptied out
- 1:20Father of all of our discord and deceit, Lord, all of our wants
- 1:28and desires and passions. God, let us pour it all out on
- 1:33the altar. Lord, I pray that we can be a
- 1:36living sacrifice unto you today. Lord, come and burn us up.
- 1:41Lord, burn out all the dross. Lord, burn out the impurities.
- 1:46Polish us, God, so that you can see the reflection of Christ
- 1:50within us. Lord, I pray for a supernatural
- 1:54zeal to fill this house. God, I pray that we can push out
- 1:59all the merchandisers. God, I pray that you can drive
- 2:02them out with the cord. Lord, bring out.
- 2:06Lord, push out all of the ravenous wolves, the false
- 2:10teachers, and the heretics. God, I pray that we will not be
- 2:14apostate. Lord, I pray for the capital C
- 2:17Church, the ekklesia called out once to rise up in this moment
- 2:22and be the church. Lord, I pray that we will not
- 2:25just play church. God, I pray that we will not
- 2:29just go through the motions of traditions and ceremony.
- 2:33God, I pray in the name of Jesus for a supernatural filling and
- 2:37zeal. God, that goes out into the
- 2:39highways and the hedges and the byways.
- 2:41Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, God Almighty, that you
- 2:45will be magnified and glorified in the highest because it's all
- 2:49about you, King Jesus, it's not about me, it's not about us,
- 2:53it's all about you. We are but unprofitable
- 2:56servants. We are your hands and feet, and
- 2:58we could do no good thing apart from You.
- 3:01All of our righteousness is filthy rags.
- 3:03God, in comparison to Your holiness, let your glory come.
- 3:13Come and get your glory. Father, I pray in the name of
- 3:19Jesus for men and women to rise up, Father, to charge the hill,
- 3:25go into the darkest places. God, to tell every man and woman
- 3:32and child about you. It is your will that we are
- 3:39after God, It is your Kingdom that we are after.
- 3:44Let it come to this earth just as it is there.
- 3:47God, I pray for fresh bread today out of the oven.
- 3:51God, I pray that we will not be stuck in yesterday's successes
- 3:55and wins. God, but today is the day of
- 3:58salvation. God, I pray for living water
- 4:02today to flow. Lord, I pray that we can feast
- 4:09upon your flesh and your blood. Drink deeply.
- 4:14I pray God that we will be marked by your goodness and
- 4:20grace and mercy and love and joy, inexpressible, overflowing
- 4:29and abundant God, to every single person we meet.
- 4:33Let it go out God, and touch lives.
- 4:36Let people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- 4:40God, let him have a relationship with you through your Son.
- 4:44God, I pray that you will be magnified throughout all the
- 4:48ages of all generations. God, heaven and earth shall pass
- 4:51away, but not one of these words.
- 4:54God, let us not offend the little ones.
- 4:57Lord, I pray that we will be found taking the torch through
- 5:03our life God and handing it and passing it to the next
- 5:06generation. God, I pray that you, Lord, will
- 5:09reign supreme forever and ever. God Almighty, I pray that we
- 5:14will get out of our own way, get out of our own understanding,
- 5:18get out of our moralistic approach to you, Father, and
- 5:21we'll lay down at your feet and worship you in spirit and truth.
- 5:28For you are holy and holy, and holy is the Lord God Almighty,
- 5:36who was and who is and who is to come.
- 5:41We are the bride waiting for our groom.
- 5:44We adorn ourselves and we get ready.
- 5:47We watch patiently, but help us to wait.
- 5:50Well, Father, Father us, we love you.
- 5:58King Jesus, we worship you. Holy Spirit, come and teach us
- 6:03and guide us. I decrease as you increase.
- 6:06It's all about King Jesus. We set him on his rightful
- 6:11place, on the rightful place of the throne of our hearts and
- 6:17minds. God, we give you our very
- 6:20breath. We give you all of our senses.
- 6:23God, come and get your glory. Come and be our boss, be our
- 6:33king, be our Lord forever. It's in Jesus Christ, holy and
- 6:39precious name that I pray. Amen.
- 6:43Well, let's start in verse one. It is not expedient for me,
- 6:49doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and
- 6:53revelations of the Lord. Paul's going to talk a little
- 6:56bit about his superior super apostle status, which he says
- 7:03that he knows is not beneficial. But these Corinthians, they were
- 7:08stuck thinking that other apostles were much greater than
- 7:12Paul. And here Paul is this low in
- 7:17stature guy who didn't even ask for any money, and it caused the
- 7:21Corinthians to think less of him.
- 7:24And Paul's going to say, OK, you've got me to a place where
- 7:29if you want to hear about the visions and revelations that
- 7:32I've received from the Lord, sure, I will share in a very
- 7:38quick manner with you these things so that you can see that
- 7:44I have received from the Lord. Verse 2 I knew a man in Christ
- 7:50above 14 years ago, whether in the body I cannot tell or
- 7:54whether out of the body I cannot tell.
- 7:56God knows such a one was caught up to the 3rd heaven.
- 8:01So Paul here perhaps is talking about himself and we can
- 8:05speculate and say sure he was, but he was being modest and
- 8:09practicing humility here and not trying to caused the Corinthians
- 8:16to exalt him to a higher position then he knew then Paul
- 8:22knew he deserved because Christ takes the highest position.
- 8:26So if we will serve Christ and serve Christ wholeheartedly, we
- 8:31will never desire a position that is exalted.
- 8:38And whenever you find a pastor who has taken that position of
- 8:42an exalted seat, it is not very long before he gets knocked off
- 8:48of it. Don't you dare put any pastor,
- 8:52any teacher on a pedestal because that pedestal will get
- 8:57knocked off and you will come to your end of faith because you
- 9:04put too much emphasis on the pastor, you put too much
- 9:08emphasis on the leader and they are just human.
- 9:11Only Christ gets that exalted position.
- 9:15And Paul understood this principle.
- 9:18It did not matter that Paul was a Pharisee of the Pharisees, a
- 9:21learned man. Paul did not glory in his
- 9:24education. Paul did not glory in his super
- 9:27apostle position. He gloried in Christ.
- 9:30And here he's going to paint a beautiful picture and he says, I
- 9:34was caught up that this man was caught up to the 3rd heaven.
- 9:39He's talking about beyond the clouds and beyond the stars and
- 9:44to the abode, the throne room of God, into the sea of glass
- 9:52mingled with fire, where the Lord is seated at the right hand
- 9:59of God. And Paul here was ushered up
- 10:02into his presence. And there are a lot of people
- 10:06who would capitalize upon this and they would hurry up and go
- 10:09write a book and they would put together a script and produce a
- 10:13movie so that we could see just how important they are in God's
- 10:20eyes. But Paul, for 14 years, he kept
- 10:22his mouth shut. And then he was also, his arm
- 10:26was twisted just to share the limited amount that he did.
- 10:32And we know that God desired for us to know that there is so much
- 10:37more going on than just what is here under the clouds or under
- 10:42the stars. There is a place, a dwelling
- 10:45place, the holiest of holy places, where when Christ died
- 10:50on the cross and ripped the veil from top to bottom, he allows us
- 10:54to come into friends and to dine and Sup.
- 10:57And I pray that you have experienced that.
- 11:00And Paul here is going to talk about it a little bit.
- 11:03And this is how we know that we know that we know that we know
- 11:07that there are Chariots and there are angelic hosts up on
- 11:10the hills waiting to come to our rescue.
- 11:13If we will increase our faith, He will give us the spiritual
- 11:17sight to be able to see all of the angelic hosts all around us
- 11:22fighting our battles. And we do not have to succumb to
- 11:26our feelings. We do not have to succumb to the
- 11:29ways of this world. We do not have to succumb to our
- 11:33emotions. Friends, we can know that God is
- 11:40the great I am. We rest in all the promises
- 11:45contained in this book. We need to increase our faith
- 11:49today to be able to peek into, peer into the spiritual realm.
- 11:54Verse 3 And I knew such a man, whether in the body or out of
- 11:59the body, I cannot tell. God knows.
- 12:02So here He's talking a little bit about this experience and
- 12:06we're not going to touch upon it for very long, but I will just
- 12:10say to you that when you worship the Lord God in spirit and
- 12:19truth, He will be well pleased to come in like a fighter jet
- 12:25and knock all of the pictures off the wall and you will be
- 12:29undone and undignified because His presence is glory.
- 12:36His presence is so overwhelming that the ministers cannot
- 12:41minister. His presence is so overwhelming
- 12:46that you cannot speak, and you lose all of your ability to hold
- 12:54back the tears, to hold back the snot and the slobber, Friends,
- 12:59that it is an undignified state. And a lot of people, they are
- 13:03approaching God from a moralistic approach and from a
- 13:08educational scholastic approach, friends, and from academia and
- 13:13they know all about it, but they have yet to experience this
- 13:18filling of the Holy Ghost. Friends, for how that he was
- 13:25caught up into paradise and heard unspeakable words, which
- 13:30is not lawful for a man to utter.
- 13:34I pray that you can understand this.
- 13:36I pray that this was not just a one off for Paul.
- 13:40I pray that you have experienced this and this is not just some
- 13:45super spiritual experience just for those who have a greater
- 13:54measure of God's presence. This is available to every
- 14:00single believer who has received the Holy Spirit.
- 14:05But the measure that we receive His glory is exactly to the
- 14:13level that we will be poured out of this world.
- 14:17That's what I need you to understand.
- 14:19There is a great exchange. And if you are still holding on
- 14:23to the things of this world, you will never experience the
- 14:28fullness that God has to pour into you of His glory and His
- 14:34Holiness, friends. And that is the great exchange.
- 14:40And if you are still grasping at straws trying to hold on to this
- 14:44life, you will lose it. It is by losing your life that
- 14:50you gain eternal life. And he was caught up into this
- 14:56paradise. This is what Christ said on the
- 14:59cross to the thief. He said today you will be with
- 15:02me in paradise. He is the Alpha and the Omega.
- 15:07He's the beginning and the end. And God lives outside of time.
- 15:11And He doesn't just interject himself into time every once in
- 15:15a while to fix all of our problems.
- 15:19That is a very elementary pre-K view of how God works.
- 15:24God is period. He is, I am period and he can do
- 15:31anything. God is in heaven and does
- 15:33whatever he pleases. And how can we go to God and try
- 15:38to give him counsel and tell God how to behave?
- 15:41And tell God how he should work and how he should fix all the
- 15:45starvation in the world and cure all the diseases in the world,
- 15:50and make sure there's no poverty and there's no separation
- 15:54between those that have and those that have not, and all the
- 15:57things that plagued this world. And we go to God and we shake
- 16:01our fists at him, and we tell God that if he is really God, he
- 16:04would fix all these things. But that is where we go wrong.
- 16:10God knows everything that is happening in the whole entire
- 16:15world all at once. He is omnipotent, omnipresent,
- 16:20and he is omniscient, friends. He knows everything.
- 16:22He's everywhere all at once, friends, and He is all powerful
- 16:27and sovereign and everything that is going on in the world is
- 16:31moving in exact accordance to the Word of God and the revealed
- 16:35prophecies that He told us. But it's ignorance of the Word
- 16:38of God that plagues us. We do not understand all the
- 16:42prophecies and how all the intricate pieces of the tapestry
- 16:46fit together to point to an all powerful Creator who gets so
- 16:52much glory whenever we choose Him over this world.
- 17:00When we decide to choose him over our feelings and emotions
- 17:05and the morals that this world throws at us.
- 17:08This humanistic humanism that tells us that everything's going
- 17:14to keep getting better if we'll just marginalized God and faith
- 17:18and deity. Far be it from us to believe the
- 17:22lies and the deception of the evil one friends in the book of
- 17:26Isaiah tells us that the word that the world will wear out
- 17:30like a piece of clothing and that is what you are seeing now.
- 17:33And it's all culminating into the Lord's glorious return and
- 17:38His thousand year reign on planet earth.
- 17:41And when the tempter is taken out, friends, and we will be
- 17:45ushered into New Jerusalem for all of eternity thereafter, we
- 17:50cannot save ourselves. We need the blood of Jesus
- 17:55Christ to cover us from the top of our head to the bottom of our
- 17:58feet, friends. And that is the only way that we
- 18:01will ever get ushered into God's holy presence, this paradise
- 18:12friends with unspeakable words. It is not even lawful for a man
- 18:17to try to propagate and to write books and put movies together to
- 18:23try to get the swine to see the pearls that God has given us. 5
- 18:36such a one I will glory, yet of myself.
- 18:39I will not glory but in my infirmities.
- 18:42So Paul here, he's telling the Corinthians, he's saying this
- 18:47guy that I knew. Perhaps he's Speaking of
- 18:51himself, but he's saying this guy that I knew I I'll let him
- 18:56boast in his. But for me, I will boast in all
- 19:00of my infirmities. I'll boast in all of the lashes
- 19:03that I've taken, the beatings that I've taken.
- 19:06I'll lash in the shipwrecks that I have had to go through.
- 19:09I'll, I'll will boast in all of my infirmities.
- 19:14I will boast in all the things that have plagued me along this
- 19:18journey, because it is in my weakness that God Almighty is
- 19:22made strong. 6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall
- 19:29not be a fool, for I will say the truth.
- 19:32But now I for bear lest any man should think of me above that
- 19:37which he sees me to be, or that he hears of me.
- 19:41So Paul here is very limited in his description of what he saw
- 19:46in Paradise, in God's holy abode when he was ushered up into his
- 19:53presence. Perhaps this was during the time
- 19:58that he was blinded for three days.
- 19:59Perhaps this was during the time that he was in Arabia learning
- 20:03from the Lord. Perhaps.
- 20:06But we can only speculate because Paul is very vague in
- 20:11his description of what he saw. But he tells us and gives us a
- 20:15time stamp, friends and. We can trace it back and we can
- 20:19know that Paul did not try to go out as soon as he received it.
- 20:25He actually had time to process it before he even spoke about
- 20:29it. And we are eternally blessed by
- 20:32these very limited words. And you need to know that God's
- 20:36holy divine inspired words that are alive and active, They are
- 20:41just as profitable and what is not said as they are and what is
- 20:49what is said when in Genesis 1 it says that God created heaven
- 20:54and earth. Whenever we see those words.
- 20:58And Moses was very limited in his description of it all in the
- 21:03beginning, we just know and we trust.
- 21:09And it is in that that we produce faith, friends.
- 21:13And that is what it takes here. When Paul's writing about
- 21:16paradise. We have to have faith to take
- 21:19hold of these promises. And he doesn't just spell it all
- 21:23out. And God could cause all 8
- 21:26billion souls on planet earth today to give him allegiance.
- 21:32He would rend the heavens and his face is shown to the whole
- 21:37earth, and everyone falls down and tries to hide themselves
- 21:41from God's eyes as He looks upon us.
- 21:46But for right now we are moving in our own ways, in our own
- 21:51understandings, and He allows us to choose who you will serve.
- 21:58You will either serve sin and self, or you will serve God
- 22:02Almighty. 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through
- 22:15the abundance of the revelations, there was given to
- 22:19me a thorn in my flesh, the messenger of Satan to Buffett
- 22:25me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
- 22:27So here, just like we see in the book of Job, here, God permitted
- 22:34Satan to inflict Paul with this thorn in his flesh, and Paul's
- 22:44going to go on here to ask God repeatedly to take it away.
- 22:49But God's purpose and plan was so that Paul would not glory in
- 22:57himself and glory in his own cleverness and glory in all of
- 23:04his knowledge, but that he would be completely and totally
- 23:09dependent upon God for all of his needs and wants and desires
- 23:17and for the entirety of his life.
- 23:19And so God put this infirmity and allowed Satan to strike him
- 23:24with it. And Paul here in the beginning,
- 23:28he could not understand where it was all coming from, so he
- 23:31pleaded with God to take it away.
- 23:33But it was revealed to Paul that it was God's purpose and plan to
- 23:40allow this in. And what a strange revelation
- 23:45for us that we can see God working through the disease.
- 23:50We can see God working through all of the things that plagued
- 23:55us in this life, friends. And that is God's plan.
- 23:59He could take away all of the cancer and take away all of the
- 24:04things that plague us, friends, all of the starvation and all of
- 24:10the desperation. In a moment he could.
- 24:14But we need to know that this is not our home.
- 24:18We are just pilgrims passing through a strange land, friends,
- 24:23and I pray that every day you can see it and that you're not
- 24:27trying to build your Kingdom here.
- 24:30God has a mansion for you. God is preparing a place for
- 24:35you, a room for you and abode, A heavenly abode for you.
- 24:39And it will be in the New Jerusalem that comes and touches
- 24:43down here on this planet earth. Friends, we'll read Revelation
- 24:47together, but I just want you to understand that for now it is
- 24:51work time. This is not play time.
- 24:54This is not rest time. We have much work to do.
- 24:58We put our hand to the plow, and we continue to press on, knowing
- 25:02that death is on the table. 8 For this thing, I beg the Lord
- 25:11three times that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me,
- 25:16My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect
- 25:23in weakness. Most gladly, therefore will I
- 25:28rather glory in my infirmities, then, that the power of Christ
- 25:33may rest upon me. So here what you need to
- 25:36understand is that Jesus Christ being mocked and humiliated,
- 25:40hanging on a criminal's cross to the entire world looked like
- 25:48embarrassment and humiliation. It looked as if the enemy was
- 25:56going to win. But look how God uses this this
- 26:00weakness to be exalted and glorified.
- 26:07And He flips the script, friends.
- 26:09And that is what you need to understand, that Paul here was
- 26:14tapping in to the mind of Christ when he went to Golgotha in
- 26:21Calvary friends and he was whipped and scourged when he was
- 26:25beaten beyond recognition and then was nailed.
- 26:31His hands at his feet were nail pierced and he suffered
- 26:35humiliation and mocking of the masses.
- 26:40And it looked like it was all over and the disciples were
- 26:45discouraged. But we can see on the third day,
- 26:49he snatched the keys to death in Hades and he got the victory in
- 26:55the same resurrection power that lives in Christ, lives in US,
- 27:00friends. And we need to understand that,
- 27:04that we will be raised to life with Christ and we can trust
- 27:09those promises. And here Paul is tapping into
- 27:13that. He's starting to understand that
- 27:19the Lord Jesus Christ grace is sufficient for us and that it is
- 27:27Christ strength that is made perfect in our weaknesses.
- 27:32Friends. And if we try to glory in our
- 27:35own strength, we try to glory in our own vanity.
- 27:39If we try to glory in pride and glory in all of our attributes
- 27:45and glory in our cleverness, and we're glorying in all of our
- 27:48learnedness and we're glorying in all of our abilities, we
- 27:55marginalized Christ. But it is in our weaknesses,
- 27:59friends, that God's power is on display.
- 28:08And therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
- 28:13necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake.
- 28:20For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- 28:24So that is what you need to understand is we do not invite
- 28:28these things, all of these woes of reproach.
- 28:35And when we're in need, in the persecution, in the distress, we
- 28:41do not invite them, but when they come, not if, but when they
- 28:46come, friends, we can delight in them because it shows us that we
- 28:51belong to him. And he told us that in the
- 28:54Beatitudes, whenever he says, when they revile you and say all
- 29:02kinds of false things about you, he said that we should rejoice
- 29:10because just like they did to all the prophets of old when
- 29:13they stoned and killed them. And they also treated our master
- 29:18that way. We know that we belong to him
- 29:21whenever we have to go through these things, friends, And we
- 29:25will be made strong through all of it.
- 29:29And we do not need to be cowards and we do not need to shrink
- 29:33back from death, Friends. Death is on the table every day
- 29:38and your life is but a vapor. And God help us to finish this
- 29:43race well, and to not try to hold on to this life and not try
- 29:48to save our own skin, friends, and to not shrink back in the
- 29:53face of adversity. Whenever the lion is roaring
- 29:57loudly, we call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shut
- 30:03the mouths of the lions, and he silences the accusations of the
- 30:08enemy. 11 I've become a fool and glory you have compelled me for
- 30:17I ought to have been commended of you for a nothing in my
- 30:21behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
- 30:26Paul had the right idea here he's saying, listen, I know you
- 30:29want to try to marginalized me and say well, he's not even a
- 30:32real apostle. He wasn't even actually walking
- 30:35with Jesus during his three-year ministry.
- 30:39And yeah, he supposedly saw him there on the road to Damascus,
- 30:43but we're still a little unsure about this Paul guy.
- 30:46And what you need to understand is that Paul says, listen, I
- 30:51have just as much authority in Christ Jesus as the apostles do.
- 30:57And you need to understand that Paul saw that he had this
- 31:01Apostolic authority, but he counted it as nothing.
- 31:05He was just like the dirt beneath the shoes.
- 31:08He did not try to glory in his position.
- 31:12And friends, that is the true mark of someone who has been
- 31:15sold out to the Lord Jesus Christ in the fullness is
- 31:19because you will not try to glory in your stature.
- 31:23You will not try to glory in your position.
- 31:25You will see yourself as just an profitable servant, though I be
- 31:31nothing. 12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among
- 31:36you in all patients and signs and wonders and mighty deeds.
- 31:41So he's showing them his credentials.
- 31:43He's saying, Check the track record, friends.
- 31:46I've got references that if you need them, that proves that
- 31:50Christ is with me, me and Christ and Christ and I and abiding,
- 31:54and you will produce much fruit. 13 For what is it wherein you
- 31:59were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was
- 32:04not burdensome to you? Forgive me this wrong, he's
- 32:07saying. Do you think that by me not
- 32:11asking for money shows that I'm weaker?
- 32:18Forgive me for not asking you for money. 14 Behold, the third
- 32:30time I'm ready to come to you, and I will not be burdensome to
- 32:35you. For I seek not yours, but you.
- 32:39For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the
- 32:42parents for the children. Paul uses this parental model to
- 32:48show the Corinthians that they're not mature enough yet
- 32:52for him to ask anything of them. All they have yet to do is to
- 32:56get together a little bit of a financial reprieve for the
- 33:02people in Jerusalem. Paul was not asking them to
- 33:05support his ministry, and he's telling them that he would spend
- 33:11on them his life and his energy and his efforts, and he would
- 33:15not ask of them for anything because they are still operating
- 33:21like little children. They have not yet to be grown
- 33:25up. They have not yet to mature into
- 33:28the adulthood that Paul desires for them. 15 and I will very
- 33:35gladly spend and be spent for you, though the more abundantly
- 33:42I love you, the less I be loved. So what a heartbreak here,
- 33:47friends. You can hear Paul's cracked
- 33:50voice in this where he just says I want to be spilled out and
- 33:56poured out for your edification. I'm willing to go to death for
- 34:00you, but the more raw and real and transparent that I am with
- 34:06you, the more you pick me apart. 16 But be it.
- 34:13So I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I
- 34:18caught you with guile. So he is using a little play on
- 34:23words here and he's pricking their hearts with these words.
- 34:26And he's saying that they think that he is caught him, that he
- 34:33caught them by his craftiness and his guile.
- 34:37And Paul here showing them that they have erred in their
- 34:42thinking, that they somehow have viewed Paul as a minister who's
- 34:50coming in just asking for money and asking for support.
- 34:55And Paul here is glorying in the fact that he did not ask them
- 35:00for a single thing. He did not trick them into
- 35:04following Christ. He just laid it all out on the
- 35:07table. And these Corinthians were so
- 35:10immature and they were so steeped in carnality that they
- 35:14were barely even called Saints. But nonetheless, they are Saints
- 35:19and they are Christians. But at the most base level,
- 35:24friends there have not even left the landing pad yet.
- 35:28They're still at the station. They have not yet to start
- 35:32operating within all of the spiritual promises of God and
- 35:37all of the power that God desires to give to them.
- 35:41They're still operating in a get out of hell free card mentality.
- 35:47No, they're not going to have to go to hell.
- 35:49But their life doesn't look any different than the rest of the
- 35:53world's. 17 Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent
- 36:00to you? 18I desired Titus, and with him
- 36:03I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you?
- 36:07Did we not walk in the same spirit?
- 36:11Did we not walk in the same steps?
- 36:14He's saying I didn't try to get anything from you, and neither
- 36:18did Titus or this other unmentioned brother.
- 36:21We were all walking with the same accord, with the same mind
- 36:24of Christ. 1 Spirit friends 19 again, do you think that we
- 36:33excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ,
- 36:40but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying, for
- 36:45the building up of the church, let no unwholesome talk come
- 36:50from your mouth, but only that which is useful for the building
- 36:54up of others. And that is what you need to
- 36:56understand, that Paul and Titus and this unmentioned brother,
- 36:59that's what they were doing all of 1 accord coming into Corinth,
- 37:03and they were not trying to make any kind of profit off of them.
- 37:09All Paul desired was for the Corinthians to give their lives
- 37:13wholeheartedly unto Jesus Christ. 24 I fear lest when I
- 37:20come I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be
- 37:27found unto you such as you would not, unless there be debates in
- 37:34beings, wrath, stripes, back, bitings, whispering, swellings,
- 37:38tumults. This is what marked the
- 37:41Corinthian church, and it is what marks the very present age
- 37:46of church today, Friends, when it's all about the suit and
- 37:50ties, the spaghetti suppers and the color of the carpet and
- 37:55church divisions and discords. When it's all about status and
- 37:59dress and attire. When it's all about what version
- 38:03of the Bible you read. When it's all about all of this
- 38:06back bitings and gossips and whisperings and these little
- 38:10white lies. Friends when it's all about
- 38:13pride and prejudice, when it's all about all the things that it
- 38:16never should be. Friends and it is like little
- 38:19children who have a little Playhouse and in these little
- 38:23paper mache leaders, Friends that are crushed with every
- 38:26single opposition that comes their way.
- 38:29When persecution arises, they give in to all the false
- 38:32doctrines that are being propagated at the highest
- 38:35levels. Friends, and far be it from us
- 38:38to be so incredibly desensitized and disconnected from God
- 38:43Almighty that we don't even know the Word of God, much less teach
- 38:46it. And if it breaks my heart, how
- 39:02much more does it break His? We'll end on 21.
- 39:14And lest when I come again, my God will humble me among you,
- 39:22and I shall be well. Many which have sinned already
- 39:29and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and
- 39:36the lustings which they have committed.
- 39:39And it's not about those who just sinned, friends.
- 39:42It's not that God is just some kind of killjoy who just wants
- 39:46to steal all of the joy of life away, but He desires for us to
- 39:51repent. He desires for us to turn away
- 39:55from this wicked, perverse world and turn to the only One that
- 40:00can give us true life. Friends, Life, abundant friends.
- 40:08But we choose this world over Him every day.
- 40:11We choose the things of this world over Him every day.
- 40:13We choose to go our own way every day, friends.
- 40:17And we're missing out on the fullness that God has for us.
- 40:26Let today be the day of salvation for you.
- 40:31Turn away from all of the evil desires that are plaguing your
- 40:36heart. From all of the images.
- 40:43Turn away from all of the unprofitable things of this
- 40:47world. Turn away from mammon.
- 40:49Turn away from greed. Turn away from lust.
- 40:53Turn away from lying. Turn away from anger and malice
- 40:58and wrath. Turn away from self seeking and
- 41:02vanity. Turn away from perversion
- 41:05friends. Turn to a loving God who loves
- 41:13well all the way to the end. There we will be with him
- 41:19forevermore. Make Jesus Christ the Lord of
- 41:24your life today and follow him wherever he leads.
- 41:32Be in tune with the Spirit, Be full of the Holy Ghost.
- 41:37Have the mind of Christ. Have the peace of God to rule
- 41:42and reign over you for the rest of your days.
- 41:48I hope you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 41:49I know I sure have. I'm praying for you and I love
- 42:00you. So does God more than you know.
- 42:07Stay prayed up today and in the Spirit walk not after the lust
- 42:13of the eyes and the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
- 42:17Do away with those things. When you were a child, you spoke
- 42:21as a child, thought as a child. You reasoned like a child.
- 42:25But now he's calling you into adulthood.
- 42:28He's calling you to act like men and do away with all the
- 42:38childish silliness to walk upright the sight of God.
- 42:47We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 42:48God bless you.
