Latest / The Vault: The Epstein Files / Michael Wolff Sues Melania Trump For A Billion Dollars As Part Of Their Ongoing Epstein Feud
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:02Epstein Chronicles. So, Michael Wolfe, the author, has filed a
- 0:08lawsuit against Milania Trump, and he says that Malania Trump
- 0:12is attempting to intimidate him and to stop him from
- 0:15reporting on her ledged ties to Jeffrey Epstein. And now
- 0:20Michael Wolfe is taking it a step further, saying that
- 0:22he hopes that he's able to depose Malania Trump and
- 0:26Donald Trump when it comes to this issue. And look,
- 0:30this fire has been burning now since July. And at
- 0:32the center of this controversy is Michael Wolfe, the veteran
- 0:36author famous for torching political royalty and now the man
- 0:40who filed a billion dollar lawsuit against her in New York,
- 0:45claiming that she tried to silence him with a billion
- 0:48dollar threat. Yeah billion with a bee. You could rebuild
- 0:52half of Miami for that kind of money, but apparently
- 0:55that's what it costs these days to keep a journalist quiet.
- 0:59Wolfe says her tea went nuclear after he suggested that
- 1:02Milania and Trump once moved in Epstein's orbit, that maybe
- 1:05their paths weren't as distant as they'd like people to believe.
- 1:09Her lawyers naturally hit back with a vengeance, letters, warnings,
- 1:13demands for retractions, the whole arsenal of high society damage control.
- 1:18But instead of backing down, we'll flip the script and
- 1:22suit her first. He wants discovery, meaning depositions, records, flight manifests,
- 1:27the kind of evidence that makes powerful people sweat under
- 1:30fluorescent lights. And look, let's be real. Wolf, no stranger
- 1:34to controversy. Bros made a career out of walking right
- 1:38up to the line between journalism and provocation, then moon
- 1:41walking over it for good measure. Dude's been called reckless, sensational, brilliant,
- 1:47and everything in between. But love him or hate him,
- 1:50one thing's for sure. He's not afraid of a fight,
- 1:53and in this case, he picked one with the family
- 1:55that practically trademarked the word litigation. That's like poking a
- 1:59hornets just to see if it still stings. Now. Of course,
- 2:03Milania's side calls it all false in defamatory. They say
- 2:07Wolf is chasing cloud, that he's peddling solicious fiction for clicks.
- 2:10Maybe he is, But if this were really about shutting
- 2:14down lies, why make it a billion dollar spectacle? Because
- 2:18threats like that don't sound like damage control. They sound
- 2:21like deterrence. And history tells us when people start screaming
- 2:24about defamation in the Epstein orbit, it's usually because someone's
- 2:28getting a little too close to something uncomfortable and the
- 2:32irony of it all. If the goal was to bury
- 2:35the story, threatening a billion dollar lawsuit against a guy
- 2:38who thrives on controversy is like pouring gasoline on a barbecue.
- 2:43Wolf'spin in this rodeo long enough to know the value
- 2:46of a headline, and Milanya's legal threats practically gift wrap
- 2:49them one. The moment those words billion dollar lawsuit hit
- 2:53the press, the story became unstoppable, because that's how this
- 2:56saga works. If he's on silence, on secrecy, on that
- 3:00sense that the truth is always a half a page away.
- 3:04Every time a new name gets pulled into it, the
- 3:06whole thing reignites. One minute, its bankers, the next it's princes,
- 3:10and before you know it, you're talking about former and
- 3:12current presidents. And every time it comes back to the
- 3:15same haunting question that's been hanging in the air since
- 3:18the day Epstein was found dead in a cell. Who
- 3:21knew what and when This article was published by NBC
- 3:26News and the headline author Michael Wolfe sues Malania Trump
- 3:30over Jeffrey Epstein threat. The author of this article is
- 3:34Chloe Atkins and Dora Gregorian. Author Michael Wolfe has sued
- 3:40First Lady Malania Trump, charging that she threatened a one
- 3:43billion dollar legal action against him to stop him from
- 3:46reporting and writing about her alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
- 3:51Miss Trump's claims are made for the sole purpose of harassing, intimidating, punishing,
- 3:56or otherwise maliciously inhibiting mister Wolfe's free exercise of speech,
- 4:00said the suit, which was file Tuesday in New York
- 4:02Supreme Court in Manhattan. The filing includes an attachment a
- 4:08letter of Trump's attorney, Alexandro Brito, sent to wolf the
- 4:11author of Fire in Fury, last week, demanding that he
- 4:14retract and apologize for public comments he made linking his
- 4:18client to Epstein, the notorious sex offender, and that he
- 4:22make a monetary proposal to Miss Trump for the damages
- 4:25that you have caused. And if you think that a
- 4:27guy like Michael wolf is going to just open up
- 4:30the bank account and start paying out settlements, you're crazy.
- 4:33He can manipulate all of this into a story, and
- 4:36that's what he's going to do. And look, I have
- 4:38a lot of questions about Michael wolf himself and about
- 4:41what his motivations are. I mean, you would think that
- 4:44if you have all this information that you say you have,
- 4:47that you say you've had four years, you'd release it, right,
- 4:50But it's always a drip with Michael wolf Oh, I
- 4:53have this, I'm going to release it later, and then
- 4:55he just keeps dragging it out because he knows it's
- 4:57good for business, right. And then of course he'll drop
- 5:00a book or two and you'll have a bunch of
- 5:02salacious allegations in the book, and a lot of them
- 5:05are unverifiable, There's no doubt about it. And when we
- 5:09first started talking about mister wolf a few years ago,
- 5:12I said that I would take everything he has to
- 5:14say with a grain of salt. And I still feel
- 5:16that way. But does that mean that what he's saying
- 5:20is a bunch of bs? All of it? Absolutely not.
- 5:23So I think it's worthy of discussion. But I'd be
- 5:26a liar if I told you that I thought that
- 5:28Michael Wolfe was some kind of arbiter of truth when
- 5:32it comes to Epstein. I don't believe that to be
- 5:34the case. I think that Michael wolf just knows that
- 5:36he could sell books, he can get clicks, and he
- 5:39can make some money with this story. I think that's
- 5:42what it comes down to. But with this lawsuit with
- 5:45Milania Trump certainly interesting, right And if they do get
- 5:48to discovery, boy, that would be exciting. Can you imagine
- 5:52what will come out in a discovery like that? What
- 5:54sort of nonsense all these people have been getting up to?
- 5:58And I'm not just talking about the Trumps, Michael wolf himself,
- 6:02because sometimes you think that you are going to have
- 6:05the upper hands when it comes to these depositions, and
- 6:08then it comes time for the deposition and you find
- 6:10out something completely different. So is that what Michael Wolfe
- 6:15has in store for him? I guess we'll have to see.
- 6:19Trump has been aggressive in pushing back against what her
- 6:22lawyers describe as false reports linking her to Epstein, and
- 6:26her office said in a statement on Wednesday that she
- 6:28is proud to continue standing up to those who spread
- 6:31malicious and defamatory falsehoods as they desperately try to get
- 6:35undeserved attention and money from their unlawful conduct. And look,
- 6:40if he's telling falsehoods, if he's not telling the truth,
- 6:45I'd sue him too. But remember when you sue somebody,
- 6:49you have to back it up, and that means depositions,
- 6:52that means going to court, that means discovery, that means
- 6:55all of that stuff probably going public. So if you
- 6:59have any anything that you're embarrassed of, chances are you're
- 7:02going to try and avoid a deposition and certainly try
- 7:05and avoid discovery. And that's why you see Prince Andrew's
- 7:10bitch ass settle with Virginia when he did. The letter
- 7:12from Brito cited comments Wolf made to The Deli Beasts
- 7:15this year in a story headline Malania Trump very involved
- 7:18in Epstein's scandal, as well as comments he made on
- 7:22a Deli Beasts podcast, And if you remember, he was
- 7:25saying that Milania Trump was introduced to Donald Trump by
- 7:28somebody who she says wasn't the person who introduced them.
- 7:33So Milania Trump has said that everything Michael Wolf is
- 7:36saying about her and the origin story of her meeting
- 7:39Donald Trump is defamatory. The website later issued a retraction
- 7:43and an apology. The full text of the retracted Delibeast
- 7:46article is no longer available online instead of the publication
- 7:51said in an editor's note upon reflection, we have determined
- 7:54that the article did not meet our standards and has
- 7:57therefore been removed from our platforms. You know, you have
- 8:01to really be pushing the envelope if The Daily Beast
- 8:04is going to remove an article about Donald Trump, because boy,
- 8:07they love to stick it to him, right, So if
- 8:10they have something they feel like is going to be damaging,
- 8:13they're going to run it. So what does that say
- 8:16about the credibility of the reporting of Michael Wolfe. Now
- 8:20you could look at it from a different perspective, right,
- 8:22and say, well, this is all about litigation. They're trying
- 8:26to mitigate their exposure here by pulling this story. That way,
- 8:32they don't have to deal with a very, very very
- 8:34litigous Trump family. So that's certainly one way you could
- 8:38look at it. But of course it could be spun
- 8:42that the story was a bunch of bs and that's
- 8:44why it was pulled. I mean, if you stand by
- 8:46your work and you stand by your reporting, you're not
- 8:49going to retract something. Right. Look at the Wall Street
- 8:51Journal with the fiftieth birthday card that was allegedly sent
- 8:55by Trump. They're standing ten toes down on business when
- 8:59it comes to that. So if you believe something is true,
- 9:02then you're going to back it up. Well. Suit says
- 9:06the statements in the article were taken out of context,
- 9:09and he maintained he had not to fame Trump. Trump
- 9:12has not been accused of any wrongdoing connected to Epstein.
- 9:15Epstein had been friends with Donald Trump in the nineties
- 9:19and the early two thousands, and look, there's no doubt
- 9:21that they were homies. They most certainly were same parties,
- 9:25same social circles, the whole thing. And there is no
- 9:28doubt that they did have a falling out. That's not
- 9:31in dispute. And for me, I think the biggest problem
- 9:34is the cover up that we're seeing right now. You
- 9:37talked all this nonsense about releasing files, being transparent, making
- 9:41sure the American people know what happened, only to come
- 9:45into office and clam right up like everybody else. So
- 9:49that's really where my criticism's coming from. Don't bullshit me
- 9:52on the campaign trail and then when you get into
- 9:54office do something completely different. I mean, it's one thing
- 9:57to say, look, we have to investigate further to see
- 9:59what's going on. It's a whole less other thing to
- 10:02call it a hoax and to just kill the investigation entirely.
- 10:06And that's why I think for Donald Trump, the cover
- 10:09up in his case when it comes to Ebstein, is
- 10:12worse than the crime. And that's all compounded by the
- 10:14promises that were made on the campaign trail by Trump
- 10:17and people that are now part of his administration. Epstein
- 10:22died by suicide in a New York Jael cell in
- 10:24twenty nineteen while he was awaiting trial on federal sex
- 10:27trafficking charges. His death sparked numerous conspiracy theories and vows
- 10:32during the twenty twenty four campaign from Donald Trump and
- 10:35his allies of increased transparency into Ebstein's case and any
- 10:39possible accomplices. And that's the big problem. Like I was
- 10:43just saying, you can't run around literally for years talking
- 10:46about this one's involved and that one's involved. And Bill
- 10:49Clinton's going to have some issues because he went to
- 10:51the island only to show up and say, just kidding,
- 10:55there's nothing to see here. We're just playing with you guys.
- 10:59That's not gonna work for any And look, I'll tell
- 11:01you right now, if they released everything they had, every
- 11:05file they had. I think that it would be better
- 11:08for them in the long run, even if it's embarrassing now.
- 11:11But unfortunately, it's all about politics, it's all about optics,
- 11:14and it's all about trying to continue to control the narrative.
- 11:18It's not about justice. It's not about holding anybody to
- 11:21account and anybody telling you that's lying. And that goes
- 11:25for Congress as well. Well. They're not trying to use
- 11:28this as a political cudgel. Why isn't Matthew Menchell being
- 11:31called or a Villa Fauna or a Krisher or any
- 11:35of those other people? Ask yourself that. Wolf Suit said
- 11:39that he had accrued many hours of interviews of Jeffrey
- 11:41Epstein's conducted over several years, and that the First Lady's
- 11:45legal threats are also intended to shut down legitimate inquiry
- 11:50into the Epstein matter, which the Trumps and their collaborators
- 11:53have at every turn sought to impede and suppress. In
- 11:57a video on Wednesday on Instagram, wolf said he hopes
- 12:00to be able to depose the Trumps as part of
- 12:02his legal action. To be perfectly honest, I'd like nothing
- 12:06better than to get Donald Trump and Milanya Trump under
- 12:09oath in front of a court reporter and actually find
- 12:11out all of the details of their relationship with Epstein.
- 12:15He said, well, look, everybody would like to see that.
- 12:18Do you really think it's gonna happen. I highly doubt it,
- 12:20and that's because it's way too risky a deposition, really
- 12:24sitting under oath talking about Epstein. That doesn't work out
- 12:27well for people, and that's why you see so many
- 12:30people avoiding it. So we'll have to see what comes
- 12:33of this. But I have a hard time believing that
- 12:35this is going to progress very far inside of the court.
- 12:38My guess is that it's going to be dropped one
- 12:40way or the other, some sort of settlement maybe, or
- 12:43maybe the judge just says, look, there's no merit here
- 12:46and we're going to toss it. So we'll keep an
- 12:48eye on things, and when we have some more information,
- 12:51we'll get it added to the catalog. All of the
- 12:54information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 12:57the description box.
