- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman. Hey have you missed us?
- 0:07Speaker 1: I have gotten I have gotten some dms from people
- 0:12Speaker 1: who love the with Stu Gotts and Hawkman podcasts saying, hey,
- 0:15Speaker 1: haven't heard you guys in a while. Did you get
- 0:17Speaker 1: Stu Gotts? And no, there's here's why there hasn't been
- 0:22Speaker 1: an episode. There's two things going on. Stu Gotts is
- 0:24Speaker 1: traveling a lot. Yes, I've been going to we record
- 0:29Speaker 1: the episodes in the morning, and I'm home in bok Ratone. Well,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we're doing major renovations to our place, so it's super
- 0:38Speaker 1: super noisy, and I do a daily radio show from
- 0:41Speaker 1: two till six, and so because it's so noisy, I
- 0:44Speaker 1: haven't been able to work from home a lot. So
- 0:46Speaker 1: I got to go down to Miami where the studios
- 0:48Speaker 1: are just every day, which kind of cuts into our
- 0:51Speaker 1: taping time. So that's why there haven't been with Stu
- 0:54Speaker 1: Gotts and Hawkman episodes in the last I'm gonna say
- 0:59Speaker 1: ten days May.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been about ten days.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Good ones in the Holster we do.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And you're such a great teammate because I appreciate you
- 1:06Speaker 3: saying that. But I've also been traveling across the country
- 1:10Speaker 3: since last Thursday. So the combination of those reasons is
- 1:13Speaker 3: why there has not been a new episode of with Stegotsenhawk.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Did you get dinged by TSA anywhere?
- 1:20Speaker 2: No?
- 1:21Speaker 3: I mean it was, you know, I'm trying to go
- 1:24Speaker 3: to small airports.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I'm trying to avoid the larger airports.
- 1:27Speaker 3: It was it was impossible to avoid when I was
- 1:29Speaker 3: flying from Los Angeles back to the East coast. But
- 1:33Speaker 3: even in Lax, I did not deal with any sort
- 1:35Speaker 3: of TSA issues.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So I was lucky.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Good for you many.
- 1:39Speaker 4: So he hasn't gotten dinged by TSA Hawk. One thing
- 1:43Speaker 4: you have to learn about Stu gotts somehow every flight
- 1:46Speaker 4: he's on gets delayed.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean those are the times, man.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I mean, what can I tell you?
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, listen, I deal with that every day with
- 1:53Speaker 1: Crowder as well. Whatever. Whenever Crowder is late for something,
- 1:58Speaker 1: his plane was delayed, are canceled, and I was go,
- 2:01Speaker 1: oh yeah, give me give me a flight number just
- 2:04Speaker 1: to look at that on Google. Let me just check
- 2:06Speaker 1: the old flight tracker.
- 2:09Speaker 3: That's exactly where my lives would start to unravel if
- 2:12Speaker 3: Taylor would learn.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Thanks for the flight number.
- 2:16Speaker 4: So when when Stetts was in Chapel Hill. He was like, hey,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I just got to Chapel Hill at one thirty. I
- 2:22Speaker 4: did look up flights. The latest flight got into got
- 2:26Speaker 4: into RDU at like nine thirty ten o'clock and I
- 2:29Speaker 4: was like, you know what, this isn't even worth picking
- 2:32Speaker 4: this battle.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Or Stuts flying private. That's why I had to deal
- 2:35Speaker 1: with TSA.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It gets there when I wanted to get there right,
- 2:39Speaker 3: and it takes off when I wanted to take the
- 2:41Speaker 3: I think he's on.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Herb Street's Herb Street's got the hours on that PJ.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I think he uses those.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I used Kirk's account, is what you're saying.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So uh.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Here are some of the requests we've gotten for the
- 2:56Speaker 1: with Stegatts and Hawkman podcast. One of them which it's
- 3:01Speaker 1: ready to go. We just have to record it all.
- 3:03Speaker 1: The sound has been cut up and it's ready. Someone
- 3:06Speaker 1: wanted us to revisit the fake Stephen sagal Era and
- 3:11Speaker 1: I love that era one of my great impersonations, and
- 3:14Speaker 1: for about a three four week span, fake Stephen sagal
- 3:19Speaker 1: Well steven Sagall was everything on the show because he
- 3:22Speaker 1: was fascinated. He had this television show called Steven Sagall lawman,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and I was fascinated by it, and then I started
- 3:28Speaker 1: doing the fake Stephen Sagal.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yes, we would have these weird stretches where we became
- 3:32Speaker 3: obsessed with an individual and that person it became the
- 3:37Speaker 3: entire show.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It really, it's funny that you say that. So the
- 3:40Speaker 1: Stephen Sagall episode is coming, and there is I don't
- 3:44Speaker 1: know if people remember or not. There is a time. Well, yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I've been doing my Steven Sagal like this. There is
- 3:51Speaker 1: a time where we bring Stephen Sagall, the actual Stephen
- 3:56Speaker 1: Sagal on. He's now like a Russian citizen and he's
- 4:00Speaker 1: like Plutin's like right hand man for anything entertainment. I
- 4:06Speaker 1: don't know, but he's a right hand man for something
- 4:10Speaker 1: like bizarre, right, a trajectory no one could have guessed,
- 4:14Speaker 1: Like do you even know Taylor? Do you know Steven Sagah?
- 4:18Speaker 4: So the only way I know him is through the
- 4:20Speaker 4: show and those videos of him doing like kickboxing.
- 4:24Speaker 1: M m yeah, so he was there were like what
- 4:28Speaker 1: maybe eighties and ninetiest got John Claude Van Dam Yes,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Steven Sagal, yeah, and Chuck Norris, uh.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and Chuck Norris another person that we became obsessed
- 4:39Speaker 3: with on the show.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And making rest in peace.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I was saying. Yes, we became fascinated
- 4:44Speaker 1: with Steven Sagall. We also became fascinated with Chuck Norris.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Chuck Norris passed away last week. Yes, we have an
- 4:51Speaker 1: episode ready to go. Now, what's the most memorable thing
- 4:56Speaker 1: about Chuck Norris's appearances on The Levatory Show?
- 5:00Speaker 3: My first question to Chuck Norris, in which I botched
- 5:03Speaker 3: because Dan, who was nervous, because we built up the
- 5:06Speaker 3: interview so much over so much time, that Dan, for
- 5:09Speaker 3: the first time in show history, decided it was a
- 5:12Speaker 3: good time for me to ask the first question, and
- 5:15Speaker 3: I was not ready for it.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So now that question.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That moment is in Lebtard show history. Everyone knows it. Yes,
- 5:26Speaker 1: what I've uncovered, I'm like Pablo Torri all of a sudden, nice.
- 5:29Speaker 1: What I have uncovered is that Dan mangled one of
- 5:34Speaker 1: the Chuck Norris facts worse than you did. Oh really,
- 5:39Speaker 1: And for whatever reason, we didn't play that one over
- 5:43Speaker 1: and over and over again for years we played yours.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yes, I can pinpoint that reason. I mean, Hakman finds out.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I love this, but.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I but he has. So anyway, we've got two excellent
- 6:03Speaker 1: episodes coming up. We were planning this Steven Sigall episode
- 6:06Speaker 1: and then Chuck Norris passed away. Stew Got's texted me,
- 6:09Speaker 1: He's like, hey, we got to do a Chuck Norris retrospective.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And I start going back and I'm listening to all
- 6:13Speaker 1: this sound and there's some wild stuff in there.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We sued him. He was so boring. We sued him.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Do you regret all that?
- 6:23Speaker 3: I do recall it. I recall feeling bad about doing it.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I recall fearing for my life because we did it.
- 6:30Speaker 3: But we had built up Chuck Norris into such an
- 6:32Speaker 3: enormous character, and there were such lofty expectations when Chuck
- 6:36Speaker 3: finally came onto the show and it fell flat.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we had him on twice. I can I can
- 6:43Speaker 1: only find two times. And but we were when I
- 6:47Speaker 1: tell you, when those Chuck Norris facts came out, we
- 6:50Speaker 1: were obsessed. It's all we were talking about. And what
- 6:53Speaker 1: happened was we ended up being able to book him
- 6:55Speaker 1: on the show this and so you'll hear all this
- 6:58Speaker 1: in the episode that's coming up next week. I reimaged
- 7:02Speaker 1: the show when he was coming on. This was such
- 7:05Speaker 1: a big deal. I reimaged the entire show we called
- 7:08Speaker 1: for that day. It was called the Chuck Norris Show,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and I hit the Big Boys reimage it. So the
- 7:14Speaker 1: big open for the show was, this is the Chuck
- 7:17Speaker 1: Norris Show. The rejoins coming into every segment where the
- 7:21Speaker 1: Chuck Norris Show. We reimaged the show because we were
- 7:23Speaker 1: so delighted that he was actually joining us.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Was it with Dance to Gods and Hawk?
- 7:27Speaker 1: I mean gonna go it was the Chuck Norris Show
- 7:32Speaker 1: and Dan with Stu Gotts, Yes, and maybe Hawkman if
- 7:38Speaker 1: he threw his name in there on his own.
- 7:40Speaker 3: So Hak, I just want to I just want to
- 7:42Speaker 3: make the point to the listeners here that we had
- 7:45Speaker 3: built up Chuck Norris because we were doing those Chuck
- 7:47Speaker 3: Norris jokes and we were taking phone calls on Chuck.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Norris, you know the jokes like, you know, God.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Doesn't pray to Chuck No, r Chuck Norris doesn't pray
- 7:55Speaker 3: to God.
- 7:56Speaker 2: God prays to Chuck Norris.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Those I thought you were gonna do the t Rex
- 7:59Speaker 1: and the gep again, No.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But Taylor has that for us.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So anyway, that one's coming up Chuck Norris coming up,
- 8:08Speaker 1: Steven Siagahl's coming up. I'm telling you you are going
- 8:11Speaker 1: to love these episodes. You're gonna hear stuff because I
- 8:14Speaker 1: hadn't heard this stuff in a while because there's like
- 8:16Speaker 1: a couple of things that we know. But as I
- 8:19Speaker 1: dug deeper, like there's some really great sound from both
- 8:21Speaker 1: those episodes. So those are coming up. There's another I
- 8:24Speaker 1: got a DM. You can always DM me on Instagram
- 8:28Speaker 1: what you want to hear on the pod. We need
- 8:31Speaker 1: to do an episode on this. Somebody DM it's Radio
- 8:35Speaker 1: Mark Hackman by the way, on Instagram. Apologies if you
- 8:38Speaker 1: weren't around for this, but I remember Stu used to
- 8:40Speaker 1: comment that he fired Alice in and then hired her back. Yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure what happened. Were you with Stu Gott's
- 8:47Speaker 1: when that happened. I was there when he fired her. Yes,
- 8:50Speaker 1: we need to do an episode on that because I
- 8:52Speaker 1: didn't recall what transpired. I remember Boo was still part
- 8:58Speaker 1: of the lineup. I was at Universe Studios in Orlando
- 9:02Speaker 1: and I got word that you had let Alison go,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and Boog called me and Boog while I was supposed
- 9:09Speaker 1: to be spending you know, family time at Universal with
- 9:12Speaker 1: my family. Yeah, I ended up spending an hour and
- 9:15Speaker 1: a half on the phone with Boog trying to figure
- 9:18Speaker 1: out how we could strong arm you to hire Allison back,
- 9:22Speaker 1: which this is where they.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Did to me Taylor. They would all get together.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It didn't work though, And it didn't work though.
- 9:28Speaker 2: So I will only say this, and I regret doing it.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And she knows that I read an email from Allison
- 9:36Speaker 3: that's quite simply.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I wasn't supposed to see.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I wasn't supposed to read, and I had a hard
- 9:41Speaker 3: time getting over it moving.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And you were the general manager of the station.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I was the GM.
- 9:44Speaker 3: She was the program director, and she was excellent at
- 9:46Speaker 3: her job, and she is excellent at her job.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Somebody says, h I fucked up. Well, I mean, I
- 9:54Speaker 1: think it worked out fine for everybody in the long run.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Alison's a very good friend of mine to this day.
- 10:00Speaker 1: She works for the Ringer and she's got a very
- 10:02Speaker 1: good life. Nice, yes, but she's a great person on
- 10:05Speaker 1: the show. She's a great person. She's great at her job.
- 10:08Speaker 3: And I have regrets doing it, because what are you
- 10:10Speaker 3: supposed to do when you read an email that you're
- 10:11Speaker 3: not supposed to read, and she was agitated with me.
- 10:13Speaker 2: She was annoyed by me, and she had very good
- 10:15Speaker 2: reasons to be so.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Well. I have dm'd her, well we text, I've texted her, Hey,
- 10:20Speaker 1: you should come on the pod with me and ste Gootts.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Her most recent response was fuck off.
- 10:27Speaker 2: That's why I fired her. I mean, I hope you
- 10:31Speaker 2: never see my text. I'm not going to make the
- 10:38Speaker 2: same mistake twice. I promise you. You can tell me right
- 10:42Speaker 2: right now in the.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Air, right Greg, if we bring Alison on the podcast
- 10:46Speaker 1: and then you fire her again, she doesn't even work
- 10:48Speaker 1: for you.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And Tailor.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm looking at some of the other ones
- 10:55Speaker 1: that I got for Stu Gotts and Hawkman. Is there
- 10:57Speaker 1: any backstory worth telling about the Roberto Deray interview. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: remember it being an uncomfortable interview for Dan and those
- 11:04Speaker 1: are always some of the funnier moments on the show.
- 11:06Speaker 1: That's an episode that we're going to have to do.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Are you familiar with that?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Taylor? Do you know the Roberto Duran interview that I don't?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Do you know who Roberto Duran is that I don't.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I mean lead singer Duran Duran.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I mean, come on Wow.
- 11:22Speaker 1: No, Roberto Durand is one of the greatest boxers from
- 11:25Speaker 1: eighties and nineties, right, yeah? Was he the Jaw of Stone?
- 11:30Speaker 1: What was his nickname? Oh, you're the nickname guy? What
- 11:32Speaker 1: was his nickname?
- 11:33Speaker 2: You know what?
- 11:34Speaker 3: I cannot remember Roberto Durand's nickname. But it was like
- 11:38Speaker 3: Stone and Stone, Hans of Stone. It was him and
- 11:41Speaker 3: Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns and that weight class.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And yes, he was a big, big star. But I
- 11:47Speaker 2: do remember the interview and Dan, yeah it was bad.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It was Do you remember what happened though? No, I
- 11:53Speaker 2: don't remember the details.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't Roberto Duran, we'll play this, We'll do an
- 11:56Speaker 1: episode on this, Roberto Duran, I believe I booked this.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I get a call. There was a guy, well, Don
- 12:03Speaker 1: King lives locally here, still live by the way. You
- 12:06Speaker 1: know who I found out is alive a couple of
- 12:08Speaker 1: days ago. Gene Shalatt.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You know who Gene Shallet is. Yeah, well it's why Yeah, Yes,
- 12:15Speaker 2: she's a movie critic.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, I I know Taylor doesn't know Gene challittte
- 12:21Speaker 1: Jeene Shalatt was the nation's movie critic, but he was
- 12:25Speaker 1: on the Today Show.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yes, does Taylor know any any Jeans.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Mean Gene, but do you know who? Like you didn't
- 12:35Speaker 3: know who he was before we Weroce.
- 12:38Speaker 1: They don't make Geens anymore.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Gene Simmons, Gene Chiswick.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Do you know Gene Simmons.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Do you know Gene Simmons, Geene Simmons, Yeah, no, no.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Man, you're working with young people and you're like, it's
- 12:52Speaker 1: shocking sometimes.
- 12:55Speaker 2: The fitness guy, Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He's the fitness guy.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You know, they're also our demographic and I'm wondering if
- 12:59Speaker 2: we should be talking about it.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I mean, Richard Simmons is the fitness guy. He's dead.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Gene Simmons is the lead singer of Kiss.
- 13:05Speaker 3: And if you ask him who Clyde Simmons is, and
- 13:07Speaker 3: he'll know Ben Simmons, he'll know.
- 13:09Speaker 1: By the way, Gene Simmons famously is the one who
- 13:12Speaker 1: called Levittard Levitz and that's stuck for years. You called
- 13:16Speaker 1: them Levitz for years.
- 13:17Speaker 2: You know, last time I spoke to him, I called
- 13:19Speaker 2: them Levitz.
- 13:20Speaker 1: H That was from Gene Simmons.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I've said, some people are wondering, when is the last
- 13:25Speaker 3: time you spoke to him?
- 13:26Speaker 2: I'm not going to tell you, how about that who
- 13:28Speaker 2: you've spoken.
- 13:28Speaker 1: To more recently, Gene Simmons or Dan anyway, I'm getting
- 13:34Speaker 1: a sidetracked. Gene Shallatt is still alive. He's one hundred
- 13:38Speaker 1: years old. By the way, he's one hundred. I don't
- 13:40Speaker 1: know if he could review a movie anymore, but he
- 13:43Speaker 1: was ubiquitous on television as a movie critic. Roberto Duran. Yes,
- 13:49Speaker 1: someone someone in the boxing arena was promoting something with
- 13:54Speaker 1: Roberto Duran coming down to Miami. So I booked him
- 13:57Speaker 1: on the show because Roberto Duran was a big name
- 14:00Speaker 1: and that's the kind of guy Dan wanted to talk to.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Y gets on the show. Dan says, Roberto Duran, hands
- 14:07Speaker 1: of stone, you know, blah blah blah. Welcome to the
- 14:10Speaker 1: Dan LeBatard Show with Stu Gotts and and Roberto Duran
- 14:14Speaker 1: goes no, no, no, no English in the room Froze yes,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and now Dan Taylor. So, because you got to hear
- 14:28Speaker 1: this out, Dan starts doing the interview in Spanish. There's
- 14:31Speaker 1: no there's no other way around this. But Dan's got
- 14:34Speaker 1: to ask Roberto Duran a question in Spanish, and he's
- 14:37Speaker 1: not prepared to do this. And then Roberto Duran is
- 14:41Speaker 1: going to answer in Spanish, but then Dan has to
- 14:44Speaker 1: share to me and ste Gods and all the listeners
- 14:46Speaker 1: what Roberto Duran just said. I mean, just a terrible
- 14:48Speaker 1: way yes to anew to do an interview. And I
- 14:53Speaker 1: remember Dan asking Roberto Duran something in Spanish. Roberto Duran
- 14:57Speaker 1: answers in Spanish, and Dan's translating. He goes, well, what
- 15:00Speaker 1: he's saying, Stu gotts is that he uh, And then
- 15:03Speaker 1: Dan just goes, this is going terribly is it? What
- 15:05Speaker 1: are you saying?
- 15:06Speaker 2: Is you can feel them start sweating?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well this was Wait till you hear that. That's
- 15:13Speaker 1: an episode con. I'm gonna write that down with my sharpie.
- 15:15Speaker 1: By the way, after, we're gonna do Chuck Norris next week,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Steven Sagal next week. The third one after that will
- 15:22Speaker 1: be the Roberto Duran episode.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Uh, Hawk, would you like to tease the audience with
- 15:26Speaker 3: my Chuck Norris question so they can get very excited
- 15:30Speaker 3: for for Monday's episode.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I would imagine everyone knows it, but I would love
- 15:35Speaker 1: to hear it again. All Right, We're going to see
- 15:37Speaker 1: whether these any of these here can crack Chuck Norris's
- 15:41Speaker 1: top ten now your favorite involves the Trontosaurus Rex.
- 15:45Speaker 2: You want to do yours?
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 15:46Speaker 3: That uh uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 15:51Speaker 3: The rex was not chasing the jeep okay in Jurassic Park.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Way to screw that up. I'm kind of blind. I
- 15:57Speaker 2: know you were thrown. That's my fault. What it was? Wait,
- 15:59Speaker 2: wait to deliver that one. Goodness start that way.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Such a great moment. It was so terrible.
- 16:07Speaker 3: It was so bad. You just saw me. I took
- 16:09Speaker 3: my headsets off. Still to this day, I cannot hear it.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I don't want to listen to it.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yes, I'm telling you Dan has as big a blunder
- 16:18Speaker 1: during that Chuck Norris interview as that one. It's mangles
- 16:23Speaker 1: one of the Chuck Norris facts just as badly as
- 16:26Speaker 1: you did.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:27Speaker 3: All right, I'm excited for this and we'll get me
- 16:29Speaker 3: off the hook about that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Right, Mark Dockman finds out and everyone will find out
- 16:33Speaker 1: next week. But anyway, uh, dm me on Instagram if
- 16:39Speaker 1: there's a segment you want to hear. But we will
- 16:41Speaker 1: absolutely do the Steven Sagal, the Chuck Norris and we'll
- 16:44Speaker 1: get to Roberto Duran in the next three episodes. So
