- Lucas: Velkommen tilbage to Learn Danish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! We're back for episode 131. Lucas, last time we did the post office basics — stamps, letters. Lucas: Right. Today we're going a bit further — sending packages, asking about shipping times. Useful if you're mailing a gift home. Luna: Oh, I actually need that. My mom wants me to send her some Danish chocolate. Lucas: Perfect. So let's start with: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. That means 'I would like to send a package.' Luna: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Lucas: Great. Pakke is 'package.' Now, if you want to ask about cost to another country: Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet? Luna: Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet? That's a mouthful. Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet. Lucas: Exactly. Udlandet means 'abroad.' So you're asking: 'What does it cost to send abroad?' Luna: Okay. And if I need three stamps? I remember frimærke from last time. Lucas: Yes! So: Jeg skal bruge tre frimærker. 'I need three stamps.' Frimærker is plural. Luna: Jeg skal bruge tre frimærker. Got it. Lucas: Now, if the post office asks about weight, you might say: Pakken vejer et kilo. 'The package weighs one kilo.' Luna: Pakken vejer et kilo. That's straightforward. Vejer is 'weighs'. Lucas: Yep. And finally, to ask about delivery time: Hvor lang tid tager det? 'How long does it take?' Luna: Hvor lang tid tager det. I think I've heard that before — for the train. Lucas: Exactly. It's a very useful phrase. Let's put it all together. Imagine you're at the counter. You say: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Luna: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Lucas: Then the clerk asks where. You say: til udlandet. Then they weigh it and you say: Pakken vejer et kilo. Then ask: Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet? Luna: Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet. And then: Hvor lang tid tager det? Lucas: Perfect. You've just sent a package in Danish. Luna: That feels really practical. You know, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Danish, a couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going. Buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo — if you've gotten something out of them. Lucas: Yeah, it's a small thing that makes a big difference. No pressure, but it helps us keep making episodes like this. Luna: Exactly. Okay, back to the post office. So I'm at the counter, I've asked about price and time. What do I do next? Lucas: You pay. But let's practice the whole dialogue once more. I'll be the clerk. You say: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Luna: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Pakken vejer et kilo. Hvad koster det at sende til udlandet? Lucas: And the clerk says: Det koster 150 kroner. Then you ask: Hvor lang tid tager det? Luna: Hvor lang tid tager det? And they say: Tre til fem dage. Perfect. Lucas: You've got it. Let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: Jeg vil gerne sende en pakke. Lucas: Excellent. That's all for today. Practice these phrases, and next time you're at the post office, try them out. Luna: Tak for i dag, Lucas! And thanks to you for listening. See you next time on Learn Danish with Fexingo. Lucas: Farvel! Keep practicing.
