Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, Mike, thank you Lane. Last night crack and
- 0:03Speaker 1: falling in Winnipeg. They had a decent start in that game,
- 0:07Speaker 1: taking the lead. But as we saw a couple of
- 0:10Speaker 1: weeks ago with that Tampa Bay Lightning game, it seems
- 0:12Speaker 1: like everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Seattle.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Some bad bounces, three power play goals against just you know,
- 0:19Speaker 1: wrap up that sixty minutes worth of the border for US.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, you know, at the end of the day,
- 0:23Speaker 2: you make your own breaks, right, you know, some of
- 0:26Speaker 2: these bounces came.
- 0:27Speaker 3: They were unfortunate bounces for sure. Started the game.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Great, you know, played a really good first twenty minutes
- 0:34Speaker 2: in you know, in terms of five on five. But
- 0:38Speaker 2: at the end of the day, you know, you got
- 0:40Speaker 2: to look at it and say, we didn't get the bounces.
- 0:43Speaker 2: But you know, there's two or three things that happened
- 0:45Speaker 2: before you don't get the bounces that I think, you know,
- 0:49Speaker 2: potentially could have required a little bit more of a
- 0:51Speaker 2: commitment level from a couple of guys, And right now
- 0:55Speaker 2: it's just not good enough.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You've got six games left in the regular season. What
- 0:59Speaker 1: is the goal that you you're trying to accomplish with
- 1:01Speaker 1: these games moving.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Forward, well, where our goal is to win every hockey
- 1:05Speaker 2: game when we stay out on the ice, that's the
- 1:06Speaker 2: bottom line, you know, and you know, you've got to
- 1:10Speaker 2: have an ultimate compete level in order to do that.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We're playing against teams that are fighting for you know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: first place and you know, variation of different.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Things from that standpoint.
- 1:20Speaker 2: So we've got to be ready to go, you know,
- 1:23Speaker 2: continue to get better, you know, and improve. Our defensive
- 1:28Speaker 2: play hasn't been very good since a break in the
- 1:30Speaker 2: last twenty games. You know, that was our identity and
- 1:33Speaker 2: our staple. We've got to you know, we've got to
- 1:35Speaker 2: build onto that and get better at that and certainly
- 1:39Speaker 2: understand that that's uh, you know, that's the way we
- 1:41Speaker 2: won hockey games at the beginning of the year, and
- 1:43Speaker 2: this is that's the way we're losing hockey games right now.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You touched on that last night postgame talking about bringing
- 1:49Speaker 1: professionalism and that compete to these last hanfl of games.
- 1:52Speaker 1: How do you go about getting that message into the
- 1:55Speaker 1: locker room.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You deliver that message into the locker room, and you
- 1:59Speaker 2: know you have to rely on each and every player
- 2:02Speaker 2: to embrace that message. Then you know, you get into
- 2:06Speaker 2: a situation like this, and I haven't been in this
- 2:07Speaker 2: situation much at all in my coaching career, but you
- 2:11Speaker 2: find out a lot about your team in this situation
- 2:13Speaker 2: as well. You know, we have to make sure that
- 2:16Speaker 2: each individual is ready to play and they're ready to compete,
- 2:19Speaker 2: and you.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Find out about you find out about guys.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Phil Gerbauer did not finish the game last night. Can
- 2:24Speaker 1: you share an update.
- 2:25Speaker 2: On him, just that he's not dressing tonight, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 2: a lower body and we're not sure the time frame
- 2:32Speaker 2: on that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Minnesota going into the playoffs currently right now with one
- 2:35Speaker 1: hundred points in the Central Division, I mean, they're probably
- 2:38Speaker 1: a stone throw away from second maybe, but it looks
- 2:41Speaker 1: like they're going to be locked them in that third place.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But against a team like the while to have won
- 2:45Speaker 1: three in a row, they have a lot of offensive
- 2:46Speaker 1: fire power, alot of skill on this team. What are
- 2:49Speaker 1: going to be some of the key factors for your
- 2:50Speaker 1: team tonight?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah? Well, you know, first of all, they have two
- 2:54Speaker 2: or three dynamic guys Hughes on the back end.
- 2:56Speaker 3: We've got to make sure that we contain him, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 3: Boldy up.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Front and Caprice Off upfront and got some talent there,
- 3:03Speaker 2: world class talent, So you know, we've got to make
- 3:06Speaker 2: sure that we're prepared for that. They're a big hockey team,
- 3:10Speaker 2: you know, will be challenged low in both ends. We've
- 3:13Speaker 2: got to be able to get the puck stop in
- 3:14Speaker 2: the defensive zone. I thought last night in Winnipeg that's
- 3:17Speaker 2: where it started to fall apart for us a little bit.
- 3:20Speaker 3: You know, some of their bigger forwards. We're controlling the puck.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Down low on our zone and we ended up spending
- 3:25Speaker 2: too much time in our zone.
- 3:26Speaker 3: So we have to make sure that we win battles
- 3:28Speaker 3: tonight in our zone and get the puck up.
- 3:30Speaker 1: We've talked a lot you and I have about the
- 3:32Speaker 1: starts to games, but it seems like the second period
- 3:35Speaker 1: has presented some problems with the crack and whether it
- 3:37Speaker 1: be long changes, whether it be that push, that inevitable
- 3:40Speaker 1: push from the other team. How big is the second
- 3:44Speaker 1: period going to be and what can you do to
- 3:46Speaker 1: help remedy and stem some of those issues that have
- 3:49Speaker 1: been happening.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Well, there's certainly, you know, there's certainly a way to
- 3:52Speaker 2: analyze everything, and we'll certainly do that, you know, at
- 3:56Speaker 2: the end. But you know, our first periods have been
- 3:58Speaker 2: we're a minus whatever in the first period. Second periods
- 4:01Speaker 2: haven't been that battle though it looks like it has.
- 4:03Speaker 2: The issue is, you know, again, when you don't get
- 4:08Speaker 2: the puck stop in the defensive zone, when you do
- 4:10Speaker 2: get the puck out, you need a change, and it's
- 4:13Speaker 2: a long change, and you know, therefore, you know, at
- 4:16Speaker 2: times we're getting exposed with our changes trying to get
- 4:21Speaker 2: tired bodies off the ice.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But you know we can and.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Have to reverse that and you know, turn it the
- 4:28Speaker 2: other way, you know, in terms of bus controlling fox
- 4:31Speaker 2: and owning pucks and the offensive zone.
- 4:32Speaker 3: We've got to attack this team tonight. You know, that's
- 4:35Speaker 3: just the bottom line.
- 4:36Speaker 2: We've played them well this year at home, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and we're looking forward to doing it again today
