- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Yes! I love our little chats. So what are we learning today? Lucas: We've done a lot of playground stuff lately. I thought we'd go to the zoo and meet some new animals. Luna: Oh, fun! We already did 'perro' and 'gato' way back. What new ones? Lucas: Today we have three: el león, la jirafa, and el pingüino. Luna: El león — that's the lion, right? Lucas: Exactly. El león. Say it with me: el león. Luna: El león. Lucas: Good. Now la jirafa — the giraffe. Luna: La jirafa. That's a fun word. Jirafa. Lucas: And el pingüino — the penguin. Luna: El pingüino. Oh, I love penguins. They're so cute. Lucas: They are. Now let's put them in simple sentences. First: 'El león ruge.' The lion roars. Luna: El león ruge. Lucas: Perfect. 'La jirafa es alta.' The giraffe is tall. Luna: La jirafa es alta. Easy. Lucas: And 'El pingüino es blanco y negro.' The penguin is black and white. Luna: El pingüino es blanco y negro. That's a mouthful but I got it. Lucas: You did great. Let's practice all six together. Repeat after me: el león. Luna: El león. Lucas: La jirafa. Luna: La jirafa. Lucas: El pingüino. Luna: El pingüino. Lucas: El león ruge. Luna: El león ruge. Lucas: La jirafa es alta. Luna: La jirafa es alta. Lucas: El pingüino es blanco y negro. Luna: El pingüino es blanco y negro. Lucas: Excellent! Now imagine we're at the zoo. I see a lion. I say: 'Mira, el león ruge.' Luna: Mira, el león ruge. Oh, I can picture it. Lucas: Then you see a giraffe. What do you say? Luna: Mira, la jirafa es alta. Lucas: Yes! And then we see penguins. Luna: Mira, el pingüino es blanco y negro. Lucas: You've got it. Let's do a quick call-back. Remember 'me gusta' from a few episodes ago? Luna: Yeah, 'I like.' So I could say 'Me gusta el pingüino'? Lucas: Exactly. Me gusta el pingüino. You're a natural.
