- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Welcome to life.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Finance and real estate.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: What is gonna have to make smart money moves?
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: The ever-changing real estate market, and of course, things going on in life.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Here to take a mummy more with you is your home.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Hey family, hey family.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Life Finance and Real Estate with the girl Kirby the Realtor, where we talk about more than buying houses and making money.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: We talk about life.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: We talk about finance and we talk about real estate.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: But most importantly, we talk about becoming the kind of person who can handle what we're praying for, working for, and building towards.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: And y'all, I wasn't here last week, right?
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I did a replay.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: It was great.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Life happened.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And isn't that something?
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: All y'all can attest.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: We can have our calendars planned out.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: We can have the whole planner.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: We can have goals written down.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: We can have our week mapped out, and we can know exactly what we're supposed to be doing.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And then life says, not today.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Not today.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have to do this or that.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Something changes, somebody needs you, a deal falls apart, unexpected bill comes, something crazy happens, a child needs your attention, your business needs you, family needs you, you get tired, you get overwhelmed, or sometimes you simply just need a minute.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And that's what I want to talk about today.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: What do you do when life interrupts the plan?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Because I've learned something.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: An interruption doesn't have to become a derailment, y'all.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Let me say that again.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Interruption doesn't have to become a derailment.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Just because you've had to stop doesn't mean you have to quit.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Just because you're behind doesn't mean you're lost.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And just because life didn't happen accordingly to your plan, you know, our plans that we make, doesn't mean your purpose disappeared.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: So if you've had to regroup lately, if something didn't happen the way you expected it to, if you're looking at August wondering where did January through July go?
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Today's conversation, my friend, is for you.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, stay with me.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Don't go nowhere.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Because before this show is over, I want you to answer one question.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: When life interrupts your plan, do you adjust or do you abandon what you've been building?
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Now let me ask it one more time.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Before this show is over, I want you to be able to answer one question.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: When life interrupts your plan, do you adjust or do you abandon what you've been building?
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: We love the plan, y'all, but life doesn't always follow it.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Here's something I notice about us.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: We love plans, especially when we're motivated, right?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Like this week, um, I'm away and I'm motivated, right?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: But we're gonna talk about that later.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: January comes and we're ready.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: New year, new beginning.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're gonna save money, lose weight, buy the house, sell the house, start the business, get rid of all this debt, fix our credit, read more, pray more, spend more time with family.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do all the things, right?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: As my little sister say, all the things.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do all the things.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Anyone know what I'm talking about?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: And then February comes, March, April, May, June, July.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Now we're sitting here in August, and some of us are looking at those goals saying, What happened?
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I know you're thinking right now, like, what happened?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Life, L I F E, life happens.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: But here's what here's where we make the mistake, okay?
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: We start believing that because the timeline changed, that the goal has to change too.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: And you may say, I don't think that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: We feel like if we didn't do what we said we were gonna do when we thought we were supposed to do it, then we have to change the goal.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: No, you do not.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Maybe you don't need a new goal, maybe you just need to strategize differently.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: You need a new strategy, and that's different.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Somebody listening today needs to hear this.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Stop throwing away the destination just because you had to change the route.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Think about this.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: If you're driving somewhere and there's construction ahead, right?
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: They got detour signs everywhere.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: What does your GPS do?
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: It doesn't say, well, I guess you're never gonna get there.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: No, it says rerouting, it will reroute you until you get back where you need to be.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: And some of you are in a rerouting season, not a quitting season, not a failure season, not a God forgot about me season.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: You may simply just need to be rerouted, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Now, let me challenge you because you know I'm not gonna let you like, I'm just not gonna let you use life happen as an excuse forever.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: So if you sit over there just like, well, life happens, no, we're not gonna do that.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: There's a difference between I had to stop and I decided not to start again.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: There's a difference.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: I had to stop and I decided not to start again.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Life may have interrupted you, right?
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: But eventually you've got to ask, what's stopping me now?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: What's stopping you right now?
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Yes, life happened.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: You may have had a baby, you may have lost your job, you may have filed bankruptcy, you may have, I don't know, just spent money that you shouldn't have spent.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: But what's stopping you now?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: That's the uncomfortable question.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Like we can have all these excuses, but what's stopping you now?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe something happened three months ago.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Okay, but what's stopping you today?
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Maybe the deal fell apart the day of closing.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you're in real estate, you know.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that can be very detrimental.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: It can do some things to you, to your psyche, okay?
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe it did.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, but what are you gonna do now?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Do we sit there?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Do we cry?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Do we do we like just not do nothing else?
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe you spent more money.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: You spent a lot of your money that you were saving, right?
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Maybe you did.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's fine.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Start a new savings plan.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Maybe you gain some weight back, because baby, I have 30 pounds to be exact, maybe 32.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: But what am I gonna do about it?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: What am I doing today to fix this issue?
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe you missed a week in the gym.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, show back up because guess what?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the comeback isn't complicated, sometimes the comeback is so simple.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Just show up, show up again, start over.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: You don't have to explain everything, you don't have to punish yourself, you don't have to spend another month talking about what you should have done.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Just start again.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm gonna give you Kirby the real to quote right now.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Grace gives you room to regroup.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: It was never meant to give you permission to remain stuck.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Grace, grace, grace gives you room to regroup, but it was never meant to give you permission to remain stuck.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Give yourself grace.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: But after you give yourself grace, I need you to get back up and get to moving again.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, I know somebody hearing me right now.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: You hear me.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Now, let's talk about the life part of life finance and real estate, okay?
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: One reason interruptions hit us so hard is because many of us have built lives.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: And y'all know I've spoken about this before about having margins, but we've built lives and we're currently building life with no margin.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Every minute is accounted for, every dollar is accounted for, everybody needs something.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: We're saying yes to everything, uh, yes, and you we're constantly moving, and the one expected thing happens, and then everything completely falls apart.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Maybe the problem isn't always the interruption.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe sometimes we've built a life with no room for life to happen.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: If one bad day destroys your entire week, baby, you may need some more margin.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: You may need some more room.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Because if one unexpected expense destroys your finances, you need some more margin.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: If one person telling you no makes you question your entire purpose, you need some more emotional margin.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: And sometimes y'all creative margin means simply saying the word no.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: E no, not because you're a selfish person, not because you don't care, but because everything can't be important at the same time.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Everything can't be important at the same time.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: I tell people all the time, you're one person with two hands, you're only one person.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Some things can look so good and it can it can look good.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: It can be great opportunities, but those aren't your opportunities.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Some things deserve your attention, but they don't deserve your attention right now.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And maturity, like when you're mature, when you're mature, you learn the difference.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: You learn the difference between, okay, this does need my attention, but not right now.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I had a mentor tell me one time, like, you know, the moment your phone goes off or it rings, you jump at it, you grab it, and it's controlling you, and you're giving yourself anxiety because the moment your phone rings or somebody texts, you picking it up.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: And it's like, and you could be in the middle of something.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I will be like in mid-conversation with uh someone dealing with business, and my phone goes off, and my attention goes straight to that phone trying to, and then whatever somebody saying in front of me would just I I'm not listening anymore.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: So it didn't deserve my attention at that moment.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Um, let's talk about the finance part of it, because this is where life gets real, y'all.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Your car doesn't care that you're trying to save money when the transmission goes out, right?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Or when your CV axle breaks, or when you need a whole new set of tires, or when you need some um, what's them things on there?
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Your rotors go out.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Your air conditioner doesn't check your budget before it stops working in the middle of summer when it's 110 degrees outside.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: The hospital don't say, Oh, you weren't planning for this.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Life happens.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: That's why financial planning, y'all, it isn't all only about becoming wealthy.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: It's about creating options.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Creating options where you have options.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Like, that's what money should eventually give you.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Money should give you options.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And emergency funds should give you options.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Savings can give you options, good credit, options, insurance, options, lower debt gives you options options.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Living below your mean gives you options because there's a difference between an unexpected expense being an inconvenience and it becoming a crisis.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's the difference.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: The difference in it all is just preparation.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: And I need you to hear me carefully.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: You don't have to start with having like 20 grand in the bank, right?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: To say, right?
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Start with a hundred dollars.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: And for some, you may only could start with 20.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: But start with a hundred, then start with 50, then start with a thousand.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Just keep building.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: The amount isn't the victory, y'all.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: It's just the habits.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Remember, I told you at the beginning of this show, starting small, every dollar you save is telling your future self, I'm preparing for you.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Go look in the mirror and tell your future self, I'm preparing for you today.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Stop what you're doing right now.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Look in the mirror, record a video of yourself and say, I'm preparing for you.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Here's another question I want you to think about.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: If your income stopped for 30 days, we had this conversation earlier today.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: But if your income were to stop for 30 days, what would happen?
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Now, don't answer that live if you don't want to, but I need you to be honest.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Would everything fall apart?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Could you pay your mortgage?
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Could you pay your car note?
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Could you could you pay your rent, your utilities, could you buy grocery?
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Could you pay your insurance?
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not trying to scare you.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: I'm just trying to prepare you.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I need you to think about this.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: I ask my agents all the time.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: What's your freedom number?
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: What it costs you to live.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Right now, I said, what does it cost you to live monthly?
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Have you ever tracked it?
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: And they'll say no.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, I need you to do that.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: What does it cost you to live?
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: You need to know your numbers.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Be prepared because preparation gives you power.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Now let's bring this into the real estate side of things.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I've been doing real estate long enough to know that people's housing needs change because life changes.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: You bought the house when you were single, right?
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Now you're married.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: You bought it when you had one child.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Now you have three.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: You bought it when everybody lived at home.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Now you have an empty nester.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're caring for an aging parent.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Maybe you changed jobs.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Maybe your income increased.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe your income decreased.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Maybe work, you're working from home now.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're going through a divorce.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe somebody passed away or relocated, y'all.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: But guess what?
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: All of that's that's life, it's a part of life.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: And sometimes people stay in situations they no longer work because they feel like um changing the plan means they've failed.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: That's not what it means.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: You stay there because you you're afraid it's gonna make you look like you failed, but no.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Sometimes selling that house is the best decision you could have ever done.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Sometimes keeping it is a wise decision.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Sometimes buying, sometimes I tell clients, maybe right now isn't the time for you to buy because that's that may not be your answer.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Sometimes renting for another year is okay.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And sometimes downsizing is wisdom.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Like, who are we trying to impress here?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Sometimes upsizing is necessary.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: You may have more kids than than the usual family.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: You gotta upsize.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Like a goal shouldn't be to impress people.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: The goal is to make decisions that support the life you're actually living.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: The goal is to make decisions that support the life you're actually living, not the life Instagram thinks you should be living, not the life your friends think you should be living, or the life that they're living, not the life that your family think you should be living.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: The goal is to make decisions that support the life you, Y O U, are actually living.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Your life.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: That's why I tell people, real estate isn't just about selling and buying property, it's about people.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: And people, people's lives change.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: You're gonna people's lives change.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: You ever had, I've done deals where I met someone and they bought a starter home.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Then they get ready to get married, and then they get pregnant, they stay in the starter home, and then they expect their first child and they want to upsize.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: I've had clients to where now they're older and they refer their kids or they have to sell their home so that they can retire and go travel the world.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Like people's lives change, and that's what real estate is about.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: It's not about property, it's about the people.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: People.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: P-E-O-P-L-E.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Real estate is about people.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Now, I want to connect this back to something we've been talking about over the last several episodes.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: We talked about what are you building one brick at a time.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Then we talked about what are you protecting?
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Now I'm asking, can what you're building survive an interruption?
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Can it?
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Because it's easy to feel successful when everything is going right.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Who can attest to that?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Raise your hand.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: I know I can't see you, but I just would like to think you're raising your hand.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: But what happens when things get shaky?
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: What happens when the money slows down?
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: What happens when somebody leaves?
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: What happens when opportunity doesn't work?
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: What happens when the plan changes?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: That's when you discover whether you've built something or whether you were simply experiencing a good season.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: There's a difference.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: I don't want you building something that only works when life is perfect.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Because life isn't perfect.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: I want you building something sustainable, a sustainable business.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Someone once told me that you know when you have master or when you have a good business is when it can run without you there.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: When you can go away and your business still runs without you there, without you having to touch it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: A sustainable business, sustainable finances, sustainable relationships and habits and faith, sustainable success.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Because getting something is one thing, y'all, but keeping it, that's another thing.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: And y'all, y'all know what I say.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I don't teach you how to earn it, I teach you how to what I teach you how to sustain it.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: And if you're kind of wondering what sustain means, it means to keep it.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So I don't just teach you how to earn money or properties and things, I teach you how to keep it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: There's another piece of this conversation we need to talk about.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when things don't happen accordingly to our, listen to me, our timeline.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: We assume God said no.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Y'all know this girl gonna tell you what the word says.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Scripture reminds us that in Proverbs 16 and 9, a man's heart devises his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: We make plans, and there's nothing wrong with planning.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: You should plan, but leave room for God to direct your plans, direct your life.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Lord, if it be your will.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes what we feel, when we feel like there's an interruption, it just maybe God redirecting.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Like you thought you needed to go this way, but let me let me stir that ship.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: That relationship didn't work, that job didn't happen, that house didn't close, the opportunity fell apart, right?
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: The door closed.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: In that moment, you're thinking, God, why?
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: You're thinking, God, why?
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: I know just over the last year or two, I had some God why moments, right?
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Then months later, you understand none of that was to punish you.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Not every door that closed, not every relationship that ended, not every delay, y'all, not every the not, not every delay is of the now, and not every door closed is a loss.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Sometimes, y'all, God is protecting you for something you were praying with word, and sometimes He's preparing you for something you couldn't see yet.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: That's why faith is important when the plan changes, because faith says, I don't understand this chapter, but I trust the author.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: I don't understand it, I may not can see right now why God allowed this to happen or didn't allow this to happen, but God, I trust you.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I trust you.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: So, what do we do?
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Let me make this a little more practical for you.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I want I want you to do three things.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I want you to review, go back and look at what you said you wanted this year, okay?
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I want you to go back.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I don't want you to beat yourself up and get all down in the dumps.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Just look.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Where are you?
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: What's working?
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: What's not working?
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Then I want you to remove, okay?
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: What are you doing right now that is taking time, energy, money, or attention away from what matters?
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Some things need to go, some habit needs to go, some commitments needs to go, some spending.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some spending needs to go.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: And yes, sometimes some people need different access to you.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Not everybody needs the same access to you.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: And then number three, recommit.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Pick something you've allowed to interrupt, to interrupt, and to stop you on your path.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Pick something you've allowed to interrupt.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, and I want you to start again.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Not Monday, not next month, not January 1st, right now.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Make the phone call, transfer that money, update their resume, call the realtor, call the lender, call the financial advisor, finish the paperwork from your financial advisor, finish that application, get back in the gym, open your Bible, apologize, start that business, whatever your thing is, take one step.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Because one step today is better than another month of thinking about the hundred steps you haven't taken.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Hear what I said.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: One step today is better than another month of thinking about the hundred steps you haven't taken.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: I need y'all to think about that.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Because if I can be honest, just these last two weeks, I've thought about things that I know I should have done and have and should have completed by now.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: And it's like, okay, well, that's enough of talking about what you should have done.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: What you gonna do about it?
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: When you gonna do something about it?
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: So before we leave today today, I want you to ask yourself this.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: What interrupted me?
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Then ask, is that interruption still happening, or have I allowed it to become my excuse?
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Now that's between you and you.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Because maybe you aren't starting over, maybe you're simply starting again with more wisdom than you had before.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: And there's a difference.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: You know more now, right?
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: You know more now, you've experienced more, you've survived some things, you've learned some things, so don't despise the interruptions.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: About two years ago, I was despising the interruptions.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Don't despise them.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Learn from it, adjust, reroute, and keep building.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Why, Kirby?
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Because an interruption doesn't have to become a derailment.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Stop throwing away the destination just because you had to change the route.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Life is gonna happen.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Plans are gonna change, things aren't gonna always happen when or how you thought they would.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: But you can still move forward, you can still build, you can still become, you can still own your life because guess what?
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Ownership starts long before you sign your name on a deed.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: Ownership starts where y'all been with me long enough to say ownership starts in the mind first.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Listen, I want to thank y'all for just being here with me for these 23 minutes today.

- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Like, I am so grateful for the encouragement, the text, the emails, the phone calls, people saying, hey, I keep doing what you're doing.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: It's really blessing me, or I send it to my sister.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: Because y'all, that's the purpose is to educate.
