- 0:25Speaker 1: And atacted at a red spars from facts exact action.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It's gonna be a quickie today. You love quickies, especially
- 1:10Speaker 2: on Mondays.
- 1:13Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Gonna be a slightly abbreviated one today. I'm off to
- 1:20Speaker 2: Burlington for a big, big event today. I'll be talking
- 1:27Speaker 2: about it in just a second. We'll get to it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: We'll get to some weather too. But first birthdays Mackenzie, Catherine,
- 1:33Speaker 2: Beth Sauceville today, Meghan Jones, Lazette, LaCourse, Mary Will TAM's
- 1:41Speaker 2: and Churchill and Tim Emmons all celebrating birthdays on this day.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Number what now, seventeen of August. How are you when
- 2:01Speaker 2: when you were a kid and you heard the words
- 2:05Speaker 2: back to school? Those were three words that I just,
- 2:12Speaker 2: for lots of different reasons, did not like. I kind
- 2:16Speaker 2: of dreaded going back to school. The butterflies, everything, the changes, anxiety.
- 2:22Speaker 2: When I was a little kid. I still remember it, man,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't know, just you know this time of year,
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know, and of course Lily's excited, But this time
- 2:32Speaker 2: of year, in a couple of weeks, when a lot
- 2:37Speaker 2: of the well and maybe even less, when a lot
- 2:39Speaker 2: of schools get back. I don't know the smell in
- 2:43Speaker 2: the air, the crispness in the air, the school bus
- 2:49Speaker 2: arriving for the first day, you got the maybe you
- 2:53Speaker 2: got the new sneakers on. You're self conscious about what
- 2:57Speaker 2: you're wearing, who you're going to see, who you haven't
- 3:01Speaker 2: seen in a couple of months, your new teacher, what
- 3:04Speaker 2: the classroom layout is going to be like, the smell.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I don't know. The smells of going back to school.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll talk about it this week, we'll
- 3:15Speaker 2: get to it. Looks like we got a cloudy one
- 3:17Speaker 2: for the most part, sixty seven right now in central Vermont,
- 3:24Speaker 2: with clouds and rain showers and maybe even some heavy
- 3:30Speaker 2: thunderstorms developing this afternoon. We'll get up to about seventy eight.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I know that it's not the greatest forecast to play
- 3:40Speaker 2: golf golf, and maybe it's a horrible forecast to play golf.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I will not be playing golf today. I don't know
- 3:53Speaker 2: how to play golf, don't I don't know if I
- 3:55Speaker 2: want to learn. I don't mini golf. Yes, but I'll
- 4:00Speaker 2: be mceing a charity golf tournament today in Burlington that's
- 4:06Speaker 2: been going on for almost I think almost thirty years,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and I'll tell you more about it in just a
- 4:11Speaker 2: little bit. But what are we looking at for tomorrow?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Tomorrow's weather foggy, start cloudy later in the day, seventy nine,
- 4:20Speaker 2: and I'm hoping things are gonna start improving by the
- 4:24Speaker 2: middle of the week. They're supposed to Wednesday, Thursday, we
- 4:29Speaker 2: got that big concert at Lake Morey. That's the Collective
- 4:34Speaker 2: Soul show that I'm really hoping the weather's gonna be
- 4:38Speaker 2: good for. Man, I have so much to talk about
- 4:43Speaker 2: this morning, so much to get to. I'm gonna be
- 4:45Speaker 2: a little and I'll be honest with you, I'll be
- 4:49Speaker 2: transparent with you. I'm gonna be a little disjointed, maybe
- 4:55Speaker 2: disconnected a little bit with a couple of things because
- 4:58Speaker 2: I have I'm a little bit all over the road
- 5:00Speaker 2: this morning. I want to talk about a post that
- 5:05Speaker 2: I put up and the reaction that not only that
- 5:10Speaker 2: it got, but that it's it's still getting and it's, uh,
- 5:16Speaker 2: it's it's it's surprising to me sometimes and this is
- 5:24Speaker 2: something that I think I'm still I think I'm still
- 5:28Speaker 2: learning and I probably always will that sometimes when you
- 5:35Speaker 2: you put something on Facebook that you think is you know,
- 5:43Speaker 2: maybe not going to garner any reaction, and then it does,
- 5:48Speaker 2: and then days later and even a week later, it's
- 5:55Speaker 2: still generating reaction and comments. Is it's surprising to me
- 6:04Speaker 2: some of the subjects, some of the things, and that
- 6:08Speaker 2: it kind of goes on and creates its own momentum
- 6:12Speaker 2: among followers of aired Out, which I think is great.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I mean that, I mean that's why I do. What
- 6:19Speaker 2: we do is to generate conversation and thought. I think,
- 6:25Speaker 2: with the hope that it will create some kind of
- 6:33Speaker 2: connection understanding between our community those that are those that
- 6:42Speaker 2: are involved in that conversation. But it seems like those
- 6:52Speaker 2: times are almost few and far between. I don't no,
- 7:00Speaker 2: there's it's just people are so ticked off, man, and
- 7:03Speaker 2: and we talk about this stuff all the time that
- 7:07Speaker 2: you got to see it my way, and if you
- 7:11Speaker 2: don't see it my way, then you're wrong. And sometimes, uh,
- 7:20Speaker 2: I you know, I just I want to get in
- 7:24Speaker 2: there and just be like, you know, can can we
- 7:26Speaker 2: all just maybe see what else is going on here
- 7:36Speaker 2: from somebody else's perspective? And I just wish that, I
- 7:48Speaker 2: just wish we could find some more common ground every
- 7:50Speaker 2: now and then, and I'm gonna be talking about that post.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Here.
- 7:53Speaker 2: In just a little bit, I'm gonna see if I
- 7:55Speaker 2: can connect in with Maria Maria Rayan, who is part
- 8:01Speaker 2: of the Vermont Agency Foundations All Charity Golf Classic. It's
- 8:09Speaker 2: happening today, Maria, Good morning, are you there? I am,
- 8:13Speaker 2: Good morning, very good morning. I can't wait to see
- 8:15Speaker 2: you guys. What's the deal I just said a little
- 8:17Speaker 2: while ago, the weather forecast is going to be wet today.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Well, we're hoping it's going to stay dry.
- 8:25Speaker 4: It's you know, it ranged earlier, but we have overcasts.
- 8:28Speaker 4: But yeah, it's not raining at the moment, so we're
- 8:31Speaker 4: keeping our fingers crossed for the day.
- 8:33Speaker 2: All right, Burlington Country Club is where you are right now.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Tell us about this, the Vermont Agency's Foundation All Charity Classic.
- 8:43Speaker 2: This is a big, big deal today. It's been going
- 8:47Speaker 2: on for a long time.
- 8:48Speaker 3: It has it's been twenty six years.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Every year we host a fundraiser for a lot of
- 8:56Speaker 4: the charities within the community, and so we have thirty
- 8:59Speaker 4: four teams participating, we have twenty eight sponsors, I'm sorry,
- 9:04Speaker 4: twenty eight charities, and then we have quite a few
- 9:07Speaker 4: people that come out locally and play and so we'll
- 9:10Speaker 4: raise close to one hundred thousand, and then we have,
- 9:13Speaker 4: you know, three teams that place to win that money.
- 9:17Speaker 3: That we've raised. So it's been it's a lot of fun.
- 9:21Speaker 3: We have a lot of volunteers who come out to
- 9:23Speaker 3: and take the day to you know, be on a
- 9:27Speaker 3: hole and to cheer on the players. So it's a
- 9:30Speaker 3: lot of fun. It's a big event and you know,
- 9:33Speaker 3: we just just have fun with it. Wow.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You know, I just posted up this morning the Facebook
- 9:39Speaker 2: question of the day, If you had fifty grand to
- 9:42Speaker 2: throw at any Vermont charity, which one would it be.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I'll be watching and seeing what is near and dear
- 9:50Speaker 2: to people's hearts and how they respond to that. But
- 9:54Speaker 2: how many charities did you say?
- 9:57Speaker 4: We have twenty eight charities this year and last year
- 10:01Speaker 4: Fly and Ryan won they were the first place team
- 10:03Speaker 4: and they won fifty thousand. So it's a it's a
- 10:06Speaker 4: big event for these community charity be charitable organizations because
- 10:11Speaker 4: that money can go to a lot of things that
- 10:12Speaker 4: they're trying to do and help families and children in
- 10:15Speaker 4: the community.
- 10:17Speaker 3: So it's a it's a really wonderful event.
- 10:19Speaker 4: And you know, the foundation has done this for again
- 10:22Speaker 4: twenty six years, so it's a lot of fun, and
- 10:24Speaker 4: people who play really come out for the people that
- 10:27Speaker 4: they're trying to win for, and so it's it's just
- 10:30Speaker 4: a lot of fun as a whole.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Ryan's dad was on the air with me here in
- 10:35Speaker 2: the studio and it was one of the most profound
- 10:38Speaker 2: interviews I think I've ever done in my career.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Oh, I love Peter.
- 10:42Speaker 4: He's just amazing, honestly, and what they do for their organization,
- 10:46Speaker 4: He's it's just they're relentless. They're just out there talking
- 10:50Speaker 4: about his son, and I just I love what they're doing.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I love what they represent. And a lot of charities
- 10:56Speaker 4: that we that we are, you know, trying to raise
- 10:58Speaker 4: money for here are just like that, and they just
- 11:00Speaker 4: do wonderful things in the community, and so we just
- 11:03Speaker 4: we want to help them as much.
- 11:05Speaker 3: As we possibly can can through the foundation. So this
- 11:08Speaker 3: is a great way to get everyone together to do that.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Wow, twenty six years that the Vermont Agency Foundation has
- 11:16Speaker 2: been putting this all charity Classic on that is so remarkable.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Wow, a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun.
- 11:23Speaker 3: So we hope the weather holds out for us today.
- 11:27Speaker 3: They're all getting ready.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Yeah, we're gonna have people coming in and registering soon,
- 11:31Speaker 4: and then you know, we have our kickoff and then
- 11:34Speaker 4: it's a whole day of events and at the end
- 11:36Speaker 4: of the day we have our dinner and we you know,
- 11:39Speaker 4: we announced the winners of the day.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So it's just a lot of fun.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I can't wait. But not before the shootout though. What's
- 11:45Speaker 2: happening at the very end, at the very.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Very end is when we have our it's almost like
- 11:51Speaker 4: a not a check reception, but it's really just to
- 11:53Speaker 4: announce the winners and we celebrate those people who won
- 11:55Speaker 4: the teams that came out for their charities, and everyone's
- 11:58Speaker 4: out here to win for their chairs, so it's a
- 12:01Speaker 4: little competition as well. But they're here to fun, but
- 12:04Speaker 4: they're also here to win that money for their charity
- 12:06Speaker 4: that they're sponsoring.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I can't wait to be there, can't wait to see you,
- 12:10Speaker 2: I can't wait to see your booth. I can't wait
- 12:11Speaker 2: to be part of it. I'll be live streaming and
- 12:14Speaker 2: I'll see you in a little bit, rain or shine.
- 12:16Speaker 2: We're doing this no matter what.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Sounds good.
- 12:20Speaker 2: All right, thanks Marie, thank you. Yes, Maria Rayner right there,
- 12:26Speaker 2: who is going to be front and center along with
- 12:30Speaker 2: Randy and so many others that are going to be
- 12:34Speaker 2: part of this amazing all charity golf Classic with the
- 12:38Speaker 2: Vermont Agency going on today. It's going to be awesome
- 12:42Speaker 2: Burlington Country Club. I'll be there. I can't wait to
- 12:46Speaker 2: experience this for the first time ever. So let's let's
- 12:53Speaker 2: get to some of the headlines here. Some of what's
- 12:56Speaker 2: going on, and some of this stuff is a little
- 12:58Speaker 2: bit heavy.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I know that.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Hawaii is dealing with the aftermath of this tropical storm Lalla,
- 13:08Speaker 2: which weakened after passing near the Big Island, but brought
- 13:13Speaker 2: very very heavy rain, damaging winds, and flooding. Reports say
- 13:18Speaker 2: that about one hundred and eighty thousand utility customers were
- 13:23Speaker 2: without power, homes were damaged by flooding and severe weather. Man,
- 13:32Speaker 2: I find some time today to just think about these people,
- 13:40Speaker 2: put your hands together for him and say a prayer
- 13:42Speaker 2: form We hope that they're going to be okay. You know,
- 13:47Speaker 2: which gets us gets me wondering. You know, this is
- 13:54Speaker 2: hurricane season. So far, it's been a quiet but we all,
- 14:04Speaker 2: I think we all need to remind ourselves here in
- 14:09Speaker 2: the North Country that these tropical storms and these hurricanes
- 14:15Speaker 2: can and have pushed their way far enough north and
- 14:22Speaker 2: have had some horrific effects up here. We don't need
- 14:29Speaker 2: to say Hurricane Irene. We don't need to. I don't
- 14:39Speaker 2: need to tell you about July of twenty twenty three
- 14:44Speaker 2: or twenty twenty four. You already know. So how prepared
- 14:51Speaker 2: are you as an individual? How prepared do you think
- 14:54Speaker 2: our communities are for increasingly dangerous tropical weather? And how
- 15:04Speaker 2: quickly can power and emergency services recover. It's just something
- 15:15Speaker 2: to think about. And I know, I know that some
- 15:21Speaker 2: of you will say, oh JD, here you go again
- 15:24Speaker 2: with your fear mongering. It's not that at all. It's
- 15:28Speaker 2: not that at all. And if you think that that's
- 15:36Speaker 2: what I'm trying to do, that's not on me, that's
- 15:42Speaker 2: on you. It's just something that's you know. I'm sure
- 15:51Speaker 2: I'm sure our local first responders have this in the
- 15:55Speaker 2: back of their mind this time of year. I'm sure
- 15:57Speaker 2: that our city officials in whatever city in are thinking
- 16:03Speaker 2: about stuff like this. Anyway, we have the sixty day
- 16:09Speaker 2: US Iran cease Fire peace Memorandum, whatever it is that
- 16:17Speaker 2: you want to call it, expiring. It's over without a
- 16:25Speaker 2: final agreement. Today, the situation is not great. Negotiations are stalled,
- 16:37Speaker 2: tensions are building surrounding the Strait of Hormuze, and the
- 16:46Speaker 2: pressure is high. Conflicting reports or are coming in about
- 16:54Speaker 2: whether Washington and Tehran could extend this cease fire. I
- 17:06Speaker 2: think it was such Trump that referred to Iran as
- 17:10Speaker 2: a a poker player or not a very good poker player.
- 17:22Speaker 2: We'll see what happens. Do you think the Iran ceasefire
- 17:27Speaker 2: will hold our we heading toward another escalation?
- 17:35Speaker 3: M M.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I mean, I can tell you what I think, but
- 17:39Speaker 2: it it doesn't matter. I care about what you think.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't think it's uh. I well, I want to
- 17:51Speaker 2: know what you think. ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith firing
- 17:57Speaker 2: back in a big way, and I'm glad he is
- 18:02Speaker 2: after the National Association of Black Journalists gave him it's
- 18:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty six thumbs down award. And the controversy about
- 18:16Speaker 2: this is it's on the upswing at this very hour.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I don't know where you stand on this. I don't
- 18:23Speaker 2: know how you feel about it, but more than welcome
- 18:27Speaker 2: to post whatever it is that you feel about it
- 18:30Speaker 2: in the comments, and I hope you do. The organization
- 18:35Speaker 2: cited what it called a recurring pattern of disparaging commentary
- 18:40Speaker 2: directed toward prominent black women. Really. Smith has responded forcefully,
- 18:49Speaker 2: saying that he intends to confront the organization over the award.
- 19:00Speaker 2: There's a lot to be said here, but I'll just
- 19:03Speaker 2: say a little bit in that I think that all journalists,
- 19:12Speaker 2: sports reporters, podcasters, whatever it may be, should be held
- 19:20Speaker 2: accountable for what they say. I mean, God knows, I've
- 19:25Speaker 2: said things into this microphone that I have gone back
- 19:31Speaker 2: and thought about and had a different perspective. That maybe
- 19:38Speaker 2: I could have said something in a different way. Maybe
- 19:42Speaker 2: I didn't articulate as well as I should have, or
- 19:50Speaker 2: that I didn't accurately describe what it is that I'm
- 19:55Speaker 2: trying to say or what it is that I feel.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And sometimes that warrants an apology, and sometimes.
- 20:08Speaker 3: It just.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Doesn't. And just because folks were offended or whatever, that
- 20:20Speaker 2: if it wasn't the intention of that journalist, that podcast,
- 20:27Speaker 2: or that sports reporter, whatever it is that they do,
- 20:29Speaker 2: if it wasn't their intention to slander, to smear, or
- 20:38Speaker 2: to take a jab at someone or some group, that
- 20:44Speaker 2: I don't know, that it warrants an apology. And I'm
- 20:52Speaker 2: not saying this coming from an egotistical standpoint, coming from
- 20:56Speaker 2: this from just an honest standpoint. We'll see what's going
- 21:03Speaker 2: to happen here. But you know, is Stephen A. Smith
- 21:08Speaker 2: being held accountable for his comments? We'll see what will
- 21:17Speaker 2: he defend? What will he not defend? What's worth his
- 21:24Speaker 2: time and energy when it comes to a response. And
- 21:28Speaker 2: that is something that I've been asking myself more frequently
- 21:34Speaker 2: now in my life than I ever have before. It
- 21:40Speaker 2: is actually something that I find myself doing almost daily.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Actually it's not even almost daily, it is daily, and honestly,
- 21:52Speaker 2: sometimes it's hourly. What is worth your time and energy
- 22:00Speaker 2: speaking up about defending, explaining over explaining justifying? Is the
- 22:14Speaker 2: criticism becoming personal? These are the questions that you have
- 22:23Speaker 2: to ask yourself, and honestly, whether you're a journalist or not,
- 22:28Speaker 2: I mean, anyone that's posting anything, especially something that is
- 22:36Speaker 2: of opinion, and we're all doing that on several different platforms. Anyway,
- 22:50Speaker 2: major issue for millions of borrowers, The SAVE repayment plan
- 22:57Speaker 2: is officially dead following a federal court order. The Department
- 23:03Speaker 2: of Education says borrowers who were enrolled in Save will
- 23:08Speaker 2: have at least ninety days to move into another legal
- 23:12Speaker 2: repayment plan three months. The new repayment Assistance plan is
- 23:19Speaker 2: what it's called WRAP. It's the acronym which launched over
- 23:26Speaker 2: a month ago July First. Should the Feds forgive more
- 23:37Speaker 2: student debt? Or should borrowers be responsible for paying back
- 23:44Speaker 2: what they borrowed? What do you say? What say you?
- 23:50Speaker 3: On? This?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Tomorrow is August eighteenth. Voters in where Florida, Alaska, Wyoming
- 24:02Speaker 2: all going to be headed to the polls for the primaries.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Florida is of particular significance, I think, because voters will
- 24:13Speaker 2: choose nominees in major federal and state races, including the
- 24:19Speaker 2: US Senate and governor's races. It's going to be interesting
- 24:24Speaker 2: to watch. Important note here. Things are shifting, Things are changing.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Some of us like it and some of us don't.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And that doesn't matter whether you're in the Green Mountain
- 24:52Speaker 2: State or whether you're down in the Sunshine State. Things
- 24:57Speaker 2: are changing. Actress Hayden Panitier, known for Heroes Nashville, remember
- 25:08Speaker 2: the Titans. For some reason, and the details are unclear
- 25:15Speaker 2: right now, obviously, but this news is breaking this morning.
- 25:18Speaker 2: For some reason, She's passed away she's no longer with
- 25:22Speaker 2: us thirty six years old, Striking News thirty six. There
- 25:38Speaker 2: was an interview that she did not long ago where
- 25:41Speaker 2: she spoke quite emotionally about having more life she wanted
- 25:47Speaker 2: to live. Definitely, probably, I would say definitely, not only
- 26:01Speaker 2: the biggest entertainment story of the morning, but also something
- 26:07Speaker 2: that we are wanting more information on. Is this anything
- 26:14Speaker 2: that is related to mental health? I mean, this is
- 26:19Speaker 2: a young woman who was just on top of the world,
- 26:23Speaker 2: had everything going for her. Bizarre la authorities are searching
- 26:33Speaker 2: for suspects following street takeovers. This is something that and
- 26:41Speaker 2: Tom Murphy may not realize this yet, but it's something
- 26:45Speaker 2: that he is going to be I am going to
- 26:47Speaker 2: get him on the air and where you're going to
- 26:49Speaker 2: be talking about this. These some of them call them
- 26:55Speaker 2: teen takeovers that this one, like most of them, escalated
- 27:04Speaker 2: into looting and vandalism. Twenty seven people suspected of taking
- 27:10Speaker 2: over part of this area this street, burglarizing many local
- 27:20Speaker 2: businesses in these coordinated efforts between youth. Just generalize there,
- 27:34Speaker 2: it's kind of a like a mob like burglary. They
- 27:38Speaker 2: use the power of numbers and they literally overwhelm and
- 27:43Speaker 2: take over all others, including law enforcement. The La County
- 27:50Speaker 2: Sheriff's Department certainly has their hands full. I can't imagine,
- 27:56Speaker 2: can't imagine. Does this raise questions about public safety, about
- 28:03Speaker 2: organized groups, about whether law enforcement has enough training and
- 28:09Speaker 2: enough resources and tools to get in there and discourage
- 28:17Speaker 2: this type of behavior. Yeah? This is crazy stuff, crazy
- 28:33Speaker 2: crazy stuff. Is this a trend? Is this like the
- 28:38Speaker 2: popular thing to do?
- 28:39Speaker 5: Now?
- 28:42Speaker 2: Is this going to start happening in smaller communities than
- 28:50Speaker 2: Los Angeles? As if we don't have enough to think
- 28:59Speaker 2: about to contend with, and now this, let's lighten it up,
- 29:12Speaker 2: shall we? And g and I are going to have
- 29:17Speaker 2: fun with this on Friday. You can bet your ass
- 29:21Speaker 2: we are Duncan Donuts. Fall menu comes out Wednesday. Oh
- 29:33Speaker 2: my god, We've got to wait from Monday to Wednesday.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Including the pumpkin spice signature latte, another Fall favorites Gene.
- 29:52Speaker 2: I will I'll force him to have a pumpkin spice latte,
- 30:00Speaker 2: and he'll fight me and he'll get out the nails.
- 30:05Speaker 2: But I will put a relentless amount of pressure on
- 30:09Speaker 2: him to get a pumpkin spice latte just because it's fall.
- 30:22Speaker 2: This is someone who and I think goes into full
- 30:29Speaker 2: vomit mode about even the words pumpkin spice, let alone
- 30:35Speaker 2: the actual taste, and he will do ge his trademark
- 30:46Speaker 2: vomit pose, which I can't. I mean, I've tried, but
- 30:53Speaker 2: I can't. I can't. I just can't do it like
- 30:59Speaker 2: he does. And he'll do it. And I will have
- 31:03Speaker 2: a pumpkin spice latte on Friday morning, and by God,
- 31:06Speaker 2: this entire building will smell like pumpkin spice.
- 31:11Speaker 3: We have to do it.
- 31:16Speaker 2: McDonald's is officially moving into the energy drink market. I
- 31:22Speaker 2: don't know if you heard about this, with their new
- 31:25Speaker 2: partnership with Red Bull. Yeah, because that's exactly what we need,
- 31:33Speaker 2: more of energy drinks in this world. The first offering
- 31:38Speaker 2: is the Dragon Berry Energizer, which is launching at us
- 31:45Speaker 2: McDonald's restaurants really soon. I don't know the date on this,
- 31:53Speaker 2: but it's coming soon. Got to expand the beverage business.
- 32:01Speaker 2: We're all about the quick, get it and go and
- 32:06Speaker 2: feel energized. Let's see what he has to say here.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Go ahead, buddy, go ahead, let me have it.
- 32:18Speaker 5: Oh, good morning, sir.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm doing well, buddy, Go ahead, am I on
- 32:24Speaker 2: the air. Of course you're on the air.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I wasn't sure if you were back to work here.
- 32:28Speaker 6: It's still at.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Back of the saddle, Buddy, back of the saddle.
- 32:37Speaker 5: That was the two weeks of the Funny Firm, the
- 32:40Speaker 5: Funny Farm. I'm supposed to tell people that.
- 32:43Speaker 2: No, I'll tell you right now. Though. The food was exceptional.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I mean, they really know. And they make your bed
- 32:51Speaker 2: every night. I mean it's a it's a it's a
- 32:54Speaker 2: small mattress. It's thin. Uh, but you get your you
- 32:58Speaker 2: get your tray, and you get in line and it's outstanding,
- 33:02Speaker 2: especially the the cream corn.
- 33:08Speaker 5: Yeah, a.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Couple, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you gotta. I mean you're gonna
- 33:14Speaker 2: be monitored. But anyway, hey listen, uh, are you gonna
- 33:18Speaker 2: be Are you gonna be getting one of these spice
- 33:21Speaker 2: pumpkin lattes?
- 33:23Speaker 3: Oh?
- 33:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I did, I did. I didn't hear something about
- 33:26Speaker 5: that spice?
- 33:27Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 33:27Speaker 5: No, I'm good with that.
- 33:29Speaker 2: What about the new Okay is as disgusting as the
- 33:34Speaker 2: dragon berry energizer at McDonald's. That's that's the that's the
- 33:39Speaker 2: new uh partnership that McDonald's has with Red Bull, And
- 33:44Speaker 2: I think I'm pretty sure, don't don't quote me here,
- 33:50Speaker 2: But you know, I don't want to misspeak, but I'm
- 33:52Speaker 2: pretty sure that there's freeze dried No, no, ever, that
- 33:59Speaker 2: there's free please dried dragon berries whatever the hell that
- 34:06Speaker 2: is in.
- 34:08Speaker 5: The dragon balls in the drink. Oh, in the drink. Yeah?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Is that exciting?
- 34:15Speaker 4: No?
- 34:15Speaker 6: That sounds so toxic.
- 34:18Speaker 5: Yeah, my pancreats is going no, no, please do that?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Does your pancreas talk to you, chucky?
- 34:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, oh you probably always talks if you listen.
- 34:31Speaker 5: So nobody listens nowadays.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Might you buy one of these energy drinks at UH
- 34:36Speaker 2: at McDonald's.
- 34:38Speaker 5: I probably won't. The problem is is when a fish
- 34:41Speaker 5: bilet is like seven dollars I stay away from in places. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 5: a fish bilet, Dude.
- 34:47Speaker 6: It is almost a box for just a sandwich.
- 34:51Speaker 5: I mean, come on, dude, that used to be cheap
- 34:53Speaker 5: ass food.
- 34:54Speaker 6: What what are they doing?
- 34:55Speaker 2: It was a fish filet was literally like two bucks
- 35:00Speaker 2: for decades, decades.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, Brice.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah, have you Chuck Well? I got you on the line.
- 35:12Speaker 2: What do you think about these team takeovers? I don't
- 35:15Speaker 2: know if you heard me talking about it. A big
- 35:17Speaker 2: one in La where just like yeah where hundreds of
- 35:23Speaker 2: teenagers get together and basically overpower a street, a neighborhood,
- 35:31Speaker 2: a block, uh, smash windows, go in, steal everything, they can,
- 35:36Speaker 2: flip cars over, whatever they have to do. But the
- 35:39Speaker 2: police just can't handle it because they it's planned out.
- 35:42Speaker 2: It's a coordinated uh event if you will, and they
- 35:47Speaker 2: just take over a whole area and just loot and
- 35:50Speaker 2: do whatever they want for a short period of time.
- 35:52Speaker 2: It's it's almost done as like like a surprise attack ambush.
- 35:57Speaker 5: So the consequences what's going to happen if they continue that? Right,
- 36:02Speaker 5: they know what's going to happen Eventually, what, well, it's
- 36:06Speaker 5: gonna get violent. I mean eventually the cops are going
- 36:09Speaker 5: to coordinate and you're gonna whip it out, tear gas
- 36:12Speaker 5: and all that kind of stuff to handle that situation.
- 36:15Speaker 5: I mean, you come into a group like that, it
- 36:19Speaker 5: usually gets ugly after a while. And I mean, I
- 36:21Speaker 5: know we live in the soft touch times, but eventually
- 36:25Speaker 5: you have to say, Okay, we can't keep this going
- 36:28Speaker 5: because then other people are going to continue and then
- 36:30Speaker 5: you have chaos, you know, So do they understand the
- 36:35Speaker 5: repercussions of their actions. It's eventually going to happen I mean,
- 36:38Speaker 5: with the technology, it's not like they can't go get
- 36:40Speaker 5: them later. You know, they're gonna get you eventually. It
- 36:44Speaker 5: always comes around. So I don't know much about it, but.
- 36:48Speaker 6: It sounds pretty stupid. It sounds like you guys need
- 36:50Speaker 6: something to do.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Yeah, are you up with the the story that's uh
- 36:59Speaker 2: pretty high right now? Well, I don't know, so let.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Me remind you, JD. I tend to not do much
- 37:05Speaker 5: of the news and stuff like that because that's really
- 37:08Speaker 5: trying to you know, you know.
- 37:09Speaker 6: How I feel.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Uh, there's a big story right now. I would I
- 37:13Speaker 2: don't know, if i'd say it's hot, I would say
- 37:15Speaker 2: it's warm and getting warmer.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Uh.
- 37:18Speaker 2: VT Digger is doing an investigation into uh the Burlington
- 37:24Speaker 2: police using excessive force against against black residents.
- 37:39Speaker 5: Okay, wait is it only black residents?
- 37:42Speaker 2: That's what the investigation is surrounding.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Right, Well, that's that seems or city.
- 37:51Speaker 5: I mean, obviously if there you don't need to be
- 37:54Speaker 5: using force if you don't need it. But I do
- 37:57Speaker 5: notice a lot of times people don't understand that when
- 38:00Speaker 5: when a cop is doing an investigation, you are to
- 38:02Speaker 5: listen and do what you're told, and we try to
- 38:05Speaker 5: resist at all and try to pretend you know what's
- 38:08Speaker 5: going on because you've listened to social media. It's ugly,
- 38:13Speaker 5: But it's the fact that they're targeting. Are we sure
- 38:16Speaker 5: they're targeting black people? That sucks and that's not I
- 38:18Speaker 5: thought we were past that ship. Yeah, I mean it
- 38:23Speaker 5: is that that kind of behavior just gives That's why
- 38:26Speaker 5: we all have to be so careful all the time
- 38:28Speaker 5: because of these idiots. It's ridiculous. I really hope that's
- 38:33Speaker 5: not the case and it just happens to be a coincidence.
- 38:37Speaker 5: No matter what, it's gonna look bad for the white man,
- 38:40Speaker 5: no matter what.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah, great, agree, you.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Gotta we got tips that you can't be doing. Stupid ship.
- 38:47Speaker 5: But again, if if it allows the law, and they
- 38:51Speaker 5: don't matter what your skin is, you know, if you're
- 38:52Speaker 5: breaking it, you're gonna get it. But if you're using
- 38:55Speaker 5: an obsessive force towards a certain culture, that's that's worse. Ship.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Bullshit ud chucky Uh real quick take on on this
- 39:09Speaker 2: sad news. Sad news that we have lost another local
- 39:15Speaker 2: person two drugs arid in overdose at the park and
- 39:23Speaker 2: ride near Dog River Park a couple of days ago.
- 39:27Speaker 2: A couple of days ago.
- 39:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that it's too bad.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know that you've lived down that way,
- 39:39Speaker 2: you lived right right.
- 39:43Speaker 3: I know.
- 39:46Speaker 2: We're gonna be having more discussions about this. I gotta
- 39:50Speaker 2: get Geno in here.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, we need to have a day where it's
- 39:56Speaker 5: just the three of us and just one of those
- 39:58Speaker 5: days where it's just unleashed. You know what I'm saying
- 40:02Speaker 5: that a day where you just you know, don't tune
- 40:03Speaker 5: in if you got sensitive ears, because they're just gonna
- 40:06Speaker 5: be real.
- 40:07Speaker 3: You.
- 40:07Speaker 2: You have some very strong opinions about strong drugs, the
- 40:14Speaker 2: market in Vermont, what's happening, the trajectory of our state,
- 40:22Speaker 2: in how we're dealing with this. We're responding to this
- 40:26Speaker 2: not only from a local law enforcement perspective, but also legislatively.
- 40:33Speaker 2: More discussion needs to be had about this.
- 40:35Speaker 3: This is well.
- 40:36Speaker 5: What needs to be done is people need to stop
- 40:38Speaker 5: playing dumb and stop pretending like you don't see it,
- 40:41Speaker 5: or you don't know or be surprised or or you know,
- 40:45Speaker 5: everybody sees and knows what's going on. Everybody knows who's
- 40:49Speaker 5: pushing it in, everybody knows who's closing their eyes and
- 40:52Speaker 5: nobody does anything. We've talked about this.
- 40:55Speaker 6: You know, everybody's known.
- 40:57Speaker 5: For forty years who the main problem is what he
- 41:00Speaker 5: does anything.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Yeah, that's my biggest thing is stop.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Pretending like you don't know there's a problem when you've
- 41:07Speaker 5: been watching it. You know who's bringing it in for
- 41:09Speaker 5: fucking years.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, Yeah. But anyways, Yeah, a great point. Listen, man,
- 41:17Speaker 2: I haven't seen you in a very long time. I
- 41:21Speaker 2: haven't seen it. I haven't seen much of G either,
- 41:24Speaker 2: And uh, he.
- 41:25Speaker 5: Must be lonely or missing you because he don't normally
- 41:28Speaker 5: send me little things through the messenger, and he's been
- 41:31Speaker 5: sending me stuff left and right. So I'm thinking we
- 41:34Speaker 5: need to get together and have a little boy's day
- 41:36Speaker 5: or boy bitch day or however you want to say it,
- 41:38Speaker 5: and have a good unleashing.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Now, if if if G sends you something, if he
- 41:47Speaker 2: doesn't send you something, if he if he doesn't send
- 41:51Speaker 2: you a reel or anything after a while, does that
- 41:55Speaker 2: make you feel like maybe G's upset with me.
- 41:59Speaker 6: I could be some type of thing.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Maybe I might have offended him or something. But you know,
- 42:05Speaker 5: he's a sensitive, sensitive gentleman, and also he might.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Feel the same but he might feel the same way
- 42:13Speaker 2: if he doesn't receive anything from Chucky for a little while.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 42:16Speaker 5: We normally if you don't hear pretty thing from me,
- 42:18Speaker 5: it's because I'm just trying not to be annoying. Not
- 42:20Speaker 5: much for conversation, but you know, I'll find these little
- 42:24Speaker 5: mojis that made me think of you and think, hey,
- 42:26Speaker 5: maybe this guy needs a smile, so I'll send him
- 42:29Speaker 5: And I tend to get a little carried away, so
- 42:31Speaker 5: I tried to break once in a while. Yeah, he's
- 42:34Speaker 5: bitched before about it. Yeah, I've sent quite a few
- 42:38Speaker 5: here and there.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Extremely inappropriate stuff too. We've had some good laughs.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Uh yeah, yeah, Yeah, that's that's me, mister inappropriate.
- 42:49Speaker 2: What's your message for the day, Chuck, What do you
- 42:52Speaker 2: want to leave everybody with this morning?
- 42:56Speaker 5: Well, I guess my messages is remember everybody has the
- 43:01Speaker 5: same problems. Don't forget that this guy over here who's
- 43:06Speaker 5: having a fucking meltdown there might be a reason for that.
- 43:09Speaker 5: So take a minute and ask the guy what's going on. Remember,
- 43:13Speaker 5: everybody's got the same damn problems and frustrations going on.
- 43:16Speaker 5: You're you're not the center of the universe. Yeah, so
- 43:19Speaker 5: take a minute and make sure take him in this.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Make sure everybody's okay. Remember everybody's hurting, So stop being
- 43:25Speaker 5: so dis assholess. Maybe asholes today.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe also begin your day with a little bit
- 43:33Speaker 2: of gratitude. Even if you got your you're you woke up, bro,
- 43:37Speaker 2: you woke up this morning exactly. Even if you got
- 43:40Speaker 2: stuff that's that's not going all that well in your life,
- 43:43Speaker 2: and maybe stuff that's really going horribly, you have something.
- 43:46Speaker 2: You have some things that are going well. Take perspective
- 43:50Speaker 2: on to take a deep breath, and.
- 43:52Speaker 5: I try to tell myself that and how bad it
- 43:55Speaker 5: may sound, there's always somebody who's got it worse than
- 43:58Speaker 5: me today. So I'm gonna right to fucking just suck
- 44:01Speaker 5: it up and deal with what I'm dealing with because
- 44:03Speaker 5: I know somebody else has got it ten times worse.
- 44:06Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. It's like it's like that. Okay,
- 44:08Speaker 5: here's something for you. I hear that the champion of
- 44:11Speaker 5: corn hole has no arms and legs. Okay, well there's
- 44:15Speaker 5: a gentleman right there. So when your day is bad,
- 44:17Speaker 5: remember that motherfucker dude. He bucking plays corn hole with
- 44:21Speaker 5: no arms and legs, bro, But I think you can
- 44:23Speaker 5: get the fucking work today. Just fine.
- 44:26Speaker 2: That was beautiful. That was absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Chuck Yeah, buddy, Yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 2: thank you. I think.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if that's gonna go, but you
- 44:42Speaker 5: get my point, dude. Point It's pretty simple, you know
- 44:45Speaker 5: what I mean. There's people who are going through some
- 44:48Speaker 5: bad ship and they go to fucking work every day.
- 44:50Speaker 5: To go to fucking work, get up, pick care of
- 44:52Speaker 5: your kids, do your fucking ship. Don't be staying in
- 44:54Speaker 5: the corner fucking begging for change. Get you know, I mean,
- 44:58Speaker 5: get your ship together.
- 44:59Speaker 6: You're luck.
- 45:00Speaker 2: That was beautiful, wow, Tier in the corner. The Central
- 45:08Speaker 2: Fromont Regional Planning Commission has a public hearing tonight at
- 45:12Speaker 2: four thirty or this afternoon, I guess you'd say, at
- 45:15Speaker 2: four thirty concerning the East Montpellier and Waitsfield's municipal plans.
- 45:23Speaker 2: So I want to put that out there as a
- 45:25Speaker 2: little public service announcement. Listen, as Chuckie just said, just
- 45:31Speaker 2: come on, deep breath. Today. I know it's Monday. How
- 45:35Speaker 2: the hell am I going to get through today? How
- 45:37Speaker 2: am I going to get through between now and noon?
- 45:40Speaker 2: How am I going to get through the rest of
- 45:42Speaker 2: this week. Begin every day with a little bit of gratitude.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Just take a take a pause and think about how
- 45:54Speaker 2: you might react, how you might respond to something that
- 46:02Speaker 2: happens during your day. I know it's always the unknown.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Things might be challenging for you today and this week,
- 46:15Speaker 2: things might be wonderful for you as well. Think about
- 46:19Speaker 2: how you're going to respond to that as well. God
- 46:22Speaker 2: bless you. Thanks to Maria for coming on the air
- 46:26Speaker 2: with me this morning to talk about this incredible event
