- 0:14SPEAKER_02: And they also have some pretty awesome custom team merch.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: I like to think of it as PFF meeting our lads, but with a little bit more depth.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Check them out at def dash charts dot com or def underscore charts on Twitter and Instagram.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: And today we are going to do a few NHL notes and roundups from the last few days of games in the National Hockey League.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: And we are also approaching basketball season.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: The NBA is returning in just two weeks.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: So we will be talking some of the biggest offseason moves, some of the favorites to win the NBA title.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: And then next week we will do a deeper dive into our NBA season preview.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: And then we will have a new guest join us today and do our NFL week four recap along with our NFL week five preview.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: So let's get to it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Starting in the National Hockey League, the Vegas Golden Knights have gotten off to an extremely strong start with three wins in their first four games already.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: They've scored 17 goals in just four games.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Jack Eichel of the Golden Knights is currently leading all players with in points with two goals and eight assists already in just four games.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: The Utah Mammoth, the new franchise from last season, have also started out hot with three wins in four games, thanks to Nick Schmaltz, who's really gotten off to a great start.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Uh, he has five goals already in the first week of the season.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: The Mammoths won loss came to the New York Rangers, who followed that win with a win over their cross city rivals five to two over the New York Islanders.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: The Rangers, they currently are four and one as well in first place in the Eastern Conference after the first week of games.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: There's only one team that remains pointless after a week of games, and that is the Calgary Flames, who have been beaten by the Kraken twice, both six to one scores, and then lost four to one to the Canucks.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: So not a great start for those Calgary Flames.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: And the Avalanche, they are the highest scoring team so far with a rate of seven goals per game, scoring at a very high clip there in Denver, Colorado.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: The Tailgate will keep everybody updated from the biggest news and stories and stats and performances all throughout the National Hockey League season, all the way up to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Because on the Tailgate Camp podcast, we talk all sports all year long.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: So now, as I mentioned in the intro, the NBA season is approaching.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: It is very close.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: The NBA season actually starts in about two weeks from the recording of this episode.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: And we have some title favorites that might be familiar: the San Antonio Spurs, who lost in the NBA finals last season to the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: They are the two favorites odds-wise preseason at plus 270.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Then there's a pretty big drop-off with the Knicks and the 76ers at plus 900.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Before we get to the Celtics, Cavs, Nuggets, um, and a few other teams kind of scattered amongst longer shots over plus 2000 to win.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: So it definitely seems like the odds makers are anticipating one of those West powerhouse teams to um be able to come through and win in the NBA finals.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: It's just a matter of who, according to those odds makers.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: But I have have a thought that the NBA season will be a little bit more wide open.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: We saw a ton of moves in the NBA offseason.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: So I just want to go through some of those moves.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: As I said, next week we will do a deeper dive into um, you know, a full NBA season preview, looking at some of the best teams, some of the rookies coming in in the draft, some of the these free agent moves that I'm about to highlight here in a second.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Um, but just to give every all the listeners a kind of an overview of some of the biggest moves that occurred this offseason.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: The biggest one by far, LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: He opted out and left the LA Lakers, who have done a total carousel bringing in Walker Kessler uh to side by side with Luka Doncic in their pick and roll offense.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: But LeBron leaves the West Coast and heads back to Philadelphia.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Um, a lot of people thought he could have gone to the Knicks.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: A lot of people thought he could have actually gone to um the Cavs again, or maybe even returned to the Miami Heat.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: But he decides to join the Philadelphia 76ers, who that was not their only move that they made this offseason.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: They acquired all NBA guard forward combo Jalen Brown, former finals MVP from the Boston Celtics in a blockbuster trade uh with the Boston Celtics, and they sent Paul George amongst some others to the Celtics.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: But Jalen Brown and LeBron James suddenly form a very interesting combination.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: If you consider that they also have Tyrese Maxie, Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecombe, to name a few.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: So that team there in Philadelphia looks primed for a deep run if those guys can stay healthy.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: My Miami Heat, yes, I am a Miami Heat stan.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: They brought in finally, it felt like this trade had been rumored for years and years and years.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: They finally did the acquisition and brought in Giannis Antentacumpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, as well as Bobby Portis, uh, in exchange for Tyler Hero, Khalil Ware, and Jaime Haquez.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: So the Heat trade a bunch of their younger core away and bring in Giannis Antentacumpo and Bobby Portis to play side by side in what I believe will be one of the best two or three NBA defenses all season.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: If you put Giannis and Bam right next to each other, they surely will be playing great defense.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: A couple other moves that I want to highlight while we are doing this quick little NBA segment.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Um, Lomelo Ball was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a pretty big trade.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: He's going to go side by side with Anthony Edwards.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I love that fit there.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Um Kawhi Leonard, the all the drama that happened with the Clippers and their financial situation.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: He has left the Clippers and he has returned back to the Toronto Raptors where he won finals MVP, won the NBA finals in 2019 with the Raptors, and now he returns back to Toronto where they really hope to compete.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: Um Morant, after a lot of up and down seasons, mostly down the last few years, has left the Memphis Grizzlies and been traded to the Portland Trailblazers.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: And then lastly, another guy that I just want to highlight here is that Klay Thompson left the Dallas Mavericks and signed as a free agent with the Miami Heat.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Another move kind of under the radar, though, that I really like my Heat to move on, bringing in another shooter to space out the floor with Bam and Giannis there.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: So, like I said, we will do a longer, more extended NBA preview with a guest next week.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: Um, but as for now, we'll kind of leave it there and get to our NFL segment and our guest.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: So if you're looking for your tail the tailgate picks, stick around.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: The Tailgate Cam podcast is excited to welcome in a new guest to the Tailgate, my good friend Carlos.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Carlos, what is up, man?
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: Not much, brother.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: Appreciate you having me on.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, me too.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Uh for the listeners that may not know you, go ahead and introduce yourself, maybe like a fun fact about you, sports, you know, a team that you like or hobbies or interests that you may have.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we've been tailgating together for what three, four years now?
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like three years.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: So I think when I met you, I was I think I just turned 21.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna age myself a little there.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: But um obviously a Jags fan of my tailgate with Cam.
- 9:28SPEAKER_04: Grew up a grew up a Detroit Tigers fan.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: And um, well, fun fact, just because it's the week we're recording, about half of my family are Eagles fans.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: So this is gonna be a fun week in my household.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, nice.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: That is awesome.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: That's great.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Um, that is very timely.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've uh known Carlos for a few years, met him through a mutual friend of ours, uh Pedro, and been been buddies with him since then.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: So wanted to get Carlos on the tailgate, get get his NFL takes off.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: So before we get into the week five games, and one of those games being the Jags Eagles, we must do our recap of some of the biggest games from week four.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: So we will actually start with those same Philadelphia Eagles.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: So last week the Rams took on the Eagles, and the Eagles had a 10-point fourth quarter lead and ended up blowing that lead.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: So so let's go ahead and upset your family.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Are you concerned?
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Do the Eagles fans have a reason to be concerned?
- 10:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think they've got every reason to be concerned.
- 10:37SPEAKER_04: I think they were going to be concerned anyway, because it's Philly.
- 10:41SPEAKER_04: Let's just be very cool.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: They're good, they get upset with when anything doesn't go their way.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: I think losing your right tackle, your all-world right tackle, just out of nowhere abruptly, and then the very next day responding by trading your other Pro Bowl offensive linemen.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: And the way your quarterback play has been lately, I think they've got every single reason to be worried.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: Normally, when that happens, I always kind of feel like that signals the end of the line for the head coach.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: And I think Siriani might be on borrowed time here.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I totally agree.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Um, a couple other notes that I wanted to point out from this game.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Puka had a great game in his first game back after missing a couple weeks.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: He had nine catches for 125 yards.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: The Eagles were also O of 12 on third down, which that's gotta be like one of the highest 0 for marks I've ever seen.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: I have never seen that.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: And I've been around this game 20-something years.
- 11:43SPEAKER_04: I've never seen that.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: If you see 0 for 12 on third down, is that more on the offense, or is that just like the Rams playing great third down defense?
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: I think it goes a little both ways there.
- 11:55SPEAKER_04: I mean, I feel like the offense, I feel like has gotten a lot of the blame.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: Obviously, going back to the it's Philly thing.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: Hurts hasn't played great all year, in my opinion.
- 12:06SPEAKER_04: I don't, in fact, I don't think he's even played any good.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: The Rams defense was missing Aaron Donald.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: They're missing Miles Garrett, but at the same time, they still have Braden Fisk, who is can wreck the home front up there.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: And then Trent McDuffie, Jalen Watson in the back in the backfield, you know.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: Um, ultimately a great comeback for the Rams or a horrific collapse if you're an Eagles fan.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: So again, apologies to Carlos's family, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Uh we'll go a little bit through this.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: We'll go a little bit closer to home with our Jags.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: They went on the road to Cincinnati and got a great win in uh Cincinnati against the Bengals.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: They won 22 to 17.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: The Jags continue to force turnovers.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: We got two, I'll put like three with an asterisk.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: I'm giving I'm giving three because I've being blocked into the quarterback doesn't necessarily warrant that was a brutal flag, and it was a great interception, a great play that they took off the board.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: Uh great moment, too, when Hunter absolutely shook T.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: Higgins' soul out of his body.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: Is is the way that Campanili's defense forces all these turnovers, is this I mean, it's been 21 games now where he's been the defensive coordinator.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: They were second in the NFL last year, they're second in the NFL right now and forced turnovers.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Is this something that is sustainable, or is it just, you know, is it something else?
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: I think it's definitely sustainable.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: I feel like the way that they play on defense, they seem to fly to the ball.
- 13:43SPEAKER_04: They seem to just move wherever that ball is going.
- 13:46SPEAKER_04: A lot of it, you know, if you're not a Jags fan, you're gonna credit luck.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: But a lot of it, even going back to Mike Caldwell and Ryan Nielsen, when they when we had those guys, they were getting turnovers, not with Nielsen, because that was just a train wreck from the absolute start.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: But even then, they were forcing turnovers, and a lot of these guys, you know, we have Foyer, Luakon, Trey Von Walker, Josh Hines Allen.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: A lot of these guys that are on the defense now have been here for Mike Caldwell and Ryan Nielsen.
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: So to me, it's definitely sustainable because you had the guys in the building.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: And now we're forcing the second most turnovers in the NFL.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: So as long as Campanelli is still around, I think they will continue to kind of create havoc on quarterbacks and whoever has the ball.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: The other kind of signature of the Campanelli defense so far through 21 games, this is a crazy stat.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: They have not allowed a single running back to rush for more than 75 yards since the beginning of last season.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: Since he's been here.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: I mean, that's a crazy ridiculous.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
- 14:51SPEAKER_04: And there's an there was another one from Sunday.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: Chase Brown had nine rushes for 10 yards.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: That means he went forward three feet and then another three feet every time he touched the ball.
- 15:07SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 15:08SPEAKER_06: That's crazy.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: Now Burrow did throw for like almost 500 yards, it felt like, but we'll just we'll ignore that.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: We'll ignore that.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: We'll ignore that.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: What do you think the biggest reason that this defense is it Devon Hamilton?
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: Is it something else?
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Like, what do you think the the biggest reason that the Jags are so good at stopping the run is?
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: I think a lot of it is to credit Devon Hamilton.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: I remember when he was drafted, I believe Urban Meyer drafted him.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: But I remember kind of sitting around, yeah.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: The one good pick that he did, thanks.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: But um I kind of remember sitting around because have some family close that are Michigan fans as well, and they were just telling me about this Hamilton guy, Hamilton guy, Hamilton guy.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: I'm like, okay, he can't be that good.
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: See him come across the board on the Jaguars.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: I was like, what's the Hamilton guy that you guys were talking about?
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: And they're like, yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_04: Okay, I said the Jags just drafted him.
- 16:03SPEAKER_04: They said, well, he's really good at stopping the run.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: And I feel like he's been very good at stopping the run.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: Balky, unfortunately.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: That guy.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: He did do right by giving him an extension, I feel like.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: He signed him up long term.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: We have him here.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: I definitely feel like he is part of the run game.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: And Trayvon Walker, to give him his credit, is very good in the run game.
- 16:28unknown: Yes.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: I always every time I see the uh the opposing team run the ball, I feel like I see him just right next to the running back.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: Very, very, very true.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Very very good call out there on Trayvon Walker.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: Um, the other note that I want to uh leave this game with is the fact that Travis Hunter played every snap on defense.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: And my question about this is do you I mean, I know that we have a lot of injuries in the secondary.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: Eric Murray got hurt in this game.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: Um, Buster Brown did not play in this game.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: Christian Braswell got waived before the game.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Is this something that you think is more just due to the fact that they needed the body out there, or they just really believe that he is him out there on the outside corner spot?
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: I think it's a little bit of both.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: Um kind of going into the game, I feel like they went in there with the hey, we don't want to elevate you know Jimmy from the practice squad to come guard T.
- 17:23SPEAKER_04: Higgins or Jamar Chase, which to their credit, it neither one of them.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: I think both of them actually left the game.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: So I think it kind of played a factor in that.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: But seeing how they responded on Tuesday or Wednesday, cutting, I think they cut Braswell just completely.
- 17:43SPEAKER_04: They're told him they told him go.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Murray's on IR.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: Um the Ransaw, he's hurt too.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: So I think he kind of took his opportunity and ran with it, and now I kind of feel like he's gonna be cornerback one.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: I I agree.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: I just I think when you see the level of cornerback play that he's had all season, really, even the first couple weeks when he wasn't playing the entire game, it's really hard to take that guy out of that spot now.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: Like he he's shutting down half the field pretty much the entire game, and that is a luxury to have as a defensive coordinator.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: So um great win for our Jags.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: Anything else you want to point out here about this game before we move on?
- 18:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, kind of just going back on what you said, you know, you have a guy shutting down half the field.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: Not every not every team that we play is going to have Jamar Chase to worry about, and then on the other side, they're gonna have T.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Higgins.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: Not every team's gonna have two Pro Bowl receivers, so I do feel like eliminating one, whether it was concussion or injury, whatever it might be, limiting one, you know, the other guy's gonna eat.
- 18:49SPEAKER_04: That's just kind of how the NFL works.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Yep, absolutely.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: Um, another a big game that took place in the AFC East um was between the Patriots and the Bills.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: The Patriots actually led a pretty incredible fourth quarter, last you know, couple minute drive to win this game.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: Um, Drake May made some really great throws on that drive.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: Do you feel like for New England fans that settles some of the concern, or that's just buying time until next week when he fumbles or throws another interception?
- 19:22SPEAKER_04: That one's kind of hard because it just feels like everybody keeps going back to the same point.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: They didn't play anybody last year.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 19:33SPEAKER_04: The two defenses they played that were really good at the end of the year kind of gave May some problems.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 19:41SPEAKER_04: He was able to beat Denver and then Seattle just absolutely killed him in the Super Bowl.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: I think May's fine.
- 19:50SPEAKER_04: I don't think he's what a lot of New England fans make him out to be.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: I think he's serviceable.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: Like he'll get you nine eight nine wins if you got a the right squad around him, but I've never seen it in Drake May.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: There's never really been a quarterback to come out of North Carolina, and that is one of the most storied programs in college football.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: One of the most storied schools.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: No quarterback has ever really came out of there.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: Except for uh the guy who liked boobs, Mick Mitch Trubisky.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: Oh, Trubisky.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Forgot about that guy.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: Chapel Hill at its finest, folks.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Uh the Patriots outgained the Bills.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: They had seven more first downs.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: They won the time of possession.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: Any reason to really be concerned about the Bills as a contender, or was this just kind of a hard divisional game?
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: I think it was more so just a hard divisional game.
- 20:46SPEAKER_04: Bills and the Patriots, kind of obvious, barring something crazy from the Jets or the Dolphins, are gonna be the top two teams fighting for a playoff spot in that division.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: So those games do mean a little more.
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: I think it was more so just Patriots might have been motivated after getting their ass kicked last the week before.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: And just kind of came in with a good game plan, and to their credit, it worked out.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: I I tend to agree.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: I picked the Bills to win this division, and I thought there would be some obvious regression from the Patriots this year, just from like you said, how easy their really the second half of their schedule was last year.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, and that wasn't gonna be the case this year.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: They were gonna play harder games like us, um, like Seattle.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: They were gonna just play more challenges.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: Uh and then Buffalo back to back is crazy, really tough.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: Both on the road, too.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that is uh my last thing here about this game DJ Moore left this game with another injury.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Um, Keon Coleman had a really good game in his absence.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: He had six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: Is Keon Coleman somebody that people can trust?
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: As the Florida State fan, I want to.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Say yes.
- 22:01SPEAKER_04: I I really do because what he did with Jordan Travis in 2023 was just absolutely special and incredible.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: I lean no in the NFL.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: I just there's I don't know exactly what it is.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: It might be the size, the character, the attitude.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: I don't know what it is.
- 22:23SPEAKER_04: Something isn't there because he's going on year three, as I think he was the first overall pick of the second round.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: You gotta if you get drafted that high and you were that touted coming out of college, you've gotta be able to put it together.
- 22:39SPEAKER_04: And it just seems like they've given him the best quarterback in the world, in my opinion, and we haven't put it together yet.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: Which sucks because he was one of the higher talented ones of that roster, and we're we're not gonna see it, I don't think.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: And like I I always thought about last year when they brought back Josh Palmer.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: Like at that point, when you're when you're just signing somebody off the street and you're throwing deep passes to that, should be Keon Coleman, and instead it's Josh Palmer.
- 23:09SPEAKER_04: I wonder what Amari Cooper's doing.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: I'm sure he's free right now.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Right, that's exactly right.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: Um, anything else from the Bills Patriots game before we move on?
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: Got nothing.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm sure these teams will see each other a little later down the road, and it'll probably be a similar story or a similar score.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: Um, uh a different division, but another really close game.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: The AFC West featured a matchup between two 3-0 teams, the Chiefs and the Raiders.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: Kenneth Walker had another really good game for the Chiefs.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: And my first question is could you already say that he's underpaid or they maybe didn't pay him enough?
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: He's third in the league in rushing.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh yeah.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: And it seemed like in a lot of the fantasy drafts, he was at least in mine, he didn't go very early.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: And I was able to luck out.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: I ended up with B.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: John Robinson and Kenneth Walker.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: So I have the top two running backs, and I'm currently four and oh.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Nice, that's awesome.
- 24:06SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, Kenneth Walker, I think, never got.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: I even think Mike McDonald in Seattle said, oh, he's a replaceable backer.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: Somebody along the lines in Seattle said he's replaceable.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: I don't know about that one, big dog.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: I don't know about that one.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: And I really think like, especially when you can compare him to what the Chiefs have had in that offense, like Isaiah Pacheco, who is one of my least favorite to watch running backs in the NFL, the guy that just runs in mud every game.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: And now you have a real guy that can get explosive plays, and it just really changes their offense.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: They are a much better offense with Kenneth Walker there than they've been with any other running back they've had since Kareem Hunt.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: So it makes a big difference for them.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: Um, on the flip side, the Raiders got back their tight end last week, and now he's had two games back.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: He does 20 catches, two touchdowns in two games.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Is there any question in your eyes whether it's fantasy or real life that Brock Bowers is the best tight end in football?
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: He is he's tight end one.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: He's tight end one.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: There's no argument.
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: There's at least in recent, I don't know, probably the last five years, I'd say, there's no tight end that has 20 catches and two touchdowns in two games.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: Tight ends just aren't the focal point of an offense.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: If an offense is running right, not saying the Raiders offense isn't running right because we're sitting here and they're three and one, too.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 25:37SPEAKER_04: But normally teams have that alpha wide receiver.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: The Raiders have hell, they have two good tight ends, Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: I'll give Michael Mayer his credit.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, that's great.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: Um, last thing here, my my last question about this game is the fact that Kirk Cousins has actually played very well.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Um he's played great to start the season.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: And I actually said it before the season started that it would shock me if Farn Fernando had not started a game by like week six or seven.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: And we're getting very close to that now.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're getting we're real close.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: We're about one week away from that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: Do you when do you think we'll see Mendoza?
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Like, does Kirk Cousins need to like play really bad for an extended period of time?
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: Like, what what do you think needs to happen for us to see Mendoza or will we see him at all this year?
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: I don't the only way I think we see Mendoza this year is if in some simulation of a world that the Raiders get the one seed in the AFC and they just roll Mendoza out there to get him experience.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: That would be crazy.
- 26:47SPEAKER_04: And now going back on to the Chiefs, the Chiefs kind of did the same thing with Mahomes.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 26:52SPEAKER_04: They had a former Pro Bowl quarterback, Alex Smith, who was, you know, teams were saying he's washed up, this and that.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: Led him to the playoffs.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: Mahomes started the last week of the season because they didn't have anything to play for.
- 27:06SPEAKER_04: Next year, Mahomes takes over.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of similarities between those Chiefs teams and that and this year's Raiders team.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: Great tight end.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great tight end, a running back that runs mad at the ground.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: Young running back, too.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: I'm not going out there and you know saying that they are gonna be the Chiefs, but there's a lot of similarities to the style.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, that's that's very fair.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: I I like that comparison.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: Um, the last game that I want to talk about for a few minutes was the Broncos visit to San Francisco.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: The 49ers ended up winning this game 24 to 14.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Is the key to beating the Broncos, and this is frustrating after the way the Jags played in Denver, but is the key to beating the Broncos really just score 21 points and you're probably fine?
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: I who knows?
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Who knows?
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: I feel like a sh the Sean Payton led teams are always the most broken ones.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: I just it's so hard to kind of keep up with him.
- 28:08SPEAKER_04: Judging by the last the first four games, they're two and two, Kansas City.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: I mean, they put an absolute BTA on them.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: And then they respond the very next week and you know play the Jags in a tough game.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: I don't remember who they played right after the Jags, and then they go to San Fran, who's three and oh.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: San Fran scores 20 points.
- 28:33SPEAKER_04: So I do feel like the key as of right now is to just score more than three touchdowns because I that poor that poor kid at OC, man, he's just got he's over his head.
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: He doesn't know his left from his right, what he's doing.
- 28:48SPEAKER_04: It's it's rough out there for him, man.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: And and he's doing all that while Sean Payton's like 17 feet away from him.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Like I can do a better job.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Giving him the death stare.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Um, the last thing I want to ask about this game before we get to week five is Brock Purdy's been incredibly efficient to start the season.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Obviously, the 49ers are undefeated.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: Do you think that they have a legitimate like Super Bowl ceiling with Brock Purdy in the way that their roster is set up right now?
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, 100%.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: 100%.
- 29:22SPEAKER_04: Especially with how the NFC so far looks, especially their division.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: Because if you were gonna sit here and tell me that the 49ers were 4-0 and the Rams were two and two, I wouldn't have believed you.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 29:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I definitely think 49ers always seem to have been built for a deep playoff run.
- 29:45SPEAKER_04: If they stay healthy is the key because last year there's rumors about a potential substation.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: I'm not going, I'm not going that deep into it, like pardon my take.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: But there's a substation around there that apparently gets everybody hurt.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: If the 49ers can stay healthy, I think they will be fine.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: Dude, the the memes about the substation in especially in training camp when Ricky Pearsall got hurt.
- 30:14SPEAKER_02: It was it was everywhere on Twitter for like a day.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: It was so funny.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Um, anything else from week four that stood out to you that we did not mention before we go to week five?
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: Not that I can think of, no.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: Feel like we've all covered it.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Well, let's go through.
- 30:30SPEAKER_04: There was actually, there was something.
- 30:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 30:32SPEAKER_04: There was something.
- 30:32SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers covered a spread for the first time in 14 games.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: Ooh, and without Baker.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying Jalen Daniels might be the guy.
- 30:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's that's a tough look.
- 30:52SPEAKER_04: He covers spread.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: That's tough.
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: That's all I'm saying.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: That's that's not what you want.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: That's not what you want to do.
- 30:58SPEAKER_04: That is not what you wanted me to say, didn't you, Bucks fan?
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: That's not great.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Um well, let's move on to week five.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: We have our first game that we're gonna discuss is very near and dear to our hearts, the Jags and the Eagles taking uh a trip to London.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: The Jags are favored by seven and a half.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: The over-under is set at 42 and a half, and this line went from that line has been moving all week.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: It went it was at two and a half when I looked on Sunday.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Sunday night this line was two and a half, then it was four and a half, and then by Monday night, this was seven, and now we're at seven and a half.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: So obviously, you already talked about some of this.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Uh, the fact that Lane Johnson kind of suddenly retired yesterday, they trade Cam Jurgens today.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: Um, and the Jags are coming in on a two-game winning streak, the Eagles on a two-game losing streak.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: What is the biggest key to this game on the Jags side?
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: And then we'll get to the Eagles side after that.
- 31:55SPEAKER_04: I think the biggest thing for the Jags is Hurts is a runner, he's gonna run.
- 32:00SPEAKER_04: Being able to contain Hertz, we don't know for sure if Saquon Barkley is gonna be out, don't know for sure if Devontae Smith's gonna be out.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: The Eagles are banged up.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: It is week four or five, excuse me.
- 32:16SPEAKER_04: Week five, and they're banged up.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: The big key to me is for the Jags to just not kind of go in there with the mindset, oh, they're banged up, which I don't think they will with Liam Cohen.
- 32:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, this team's banged up, we can coast, and then next thing you know, we're in a dogfight with Jalen Hurts.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 32:39SPEAKER_04: All 93 of those yards are gonna scare me.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I think the the key kind of just to flip it on the other side, the key for the Eagles to really be in this game with the amount.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, assuming that Saquon does not play, which he did not practice today, Devante did not practice today, Tank Bigsby's on IR.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean I think they leave they leave late too.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Compared to the city.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they said they would leave.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: I think they leave on Friday.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: Friday night.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's tough.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that worked out for McVeigh.
- 33:10SPEAKER_02: Siriani even said they asked him why they decided to leave Friday night, and his response was, Well, we have other games after this.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: And it was like Okay, yeah, that's fine.
- 33:22SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, right, that's fine.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, to me, actually.
- 33:26SPEAKER_02: I love that idea as a Jags fan.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: It worked out well for McVeigh, right?
- 33:30unknown: Right.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: Um, so my last question before we pick a winner, we've seen time and time again the Jags are able to kind of move the focus point of their offense from whether it be Parker Washington, whether it be Jacoby Myers.
- 33:45SPEAKER_02: We saw Brenton Strange really kind of get his on Sunday.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Which Jags receiver do you think really uh runs it up a bit on Sunday?
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna be a little tough.
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: The Eagles, so far, in my opinion, have the best two corners that will play in Quinn Yon Mitchell and Cooper Dejean.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: I actually don't really think it's gonna be one receiver that steps up.
- 34:06SPEAKER_04: I think it'll be kind of a collective effort.
- 34:09SPEAKER_04: I do think the run game eats.
- 34:11SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna be a big game for Tootin and Rodriguez and company, whatever LeQin Allen.
- 34:17SPEAKER_04: I think it'll be a big game for them.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Um if I had to pick a receiver, my heart does go Parker Washington, just because I don't think he's gonna have two bad games in a row.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: And you can play the narrative that um he went to Penn State, the closest pro team, maybe show him up a little bit.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: That's a good call out, too.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Um now it's time to pick a winner.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: I am going to pick the Jags.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: I I think the only way the Jags lose this game is if they give the game away, you know, multiple turnovers.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: If we see 12 more penalties again, um I just I just don't really see it in the cards based on where the the health status of the Eagles is.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: Who do you have winning this game?
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: I have the Jaguars by 10.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 35:06SPEAKER_04: I it's I don't think it's gonna be pretty for the Eagles.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: Leaving late, all these distractions going around.
- 35:14SPEAKER_04: I know you mentioned it in the week one podcast that you thought it was gonna be a bad year for him.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: And what every single word you have said so far has been completely true.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of just chaos going on in that building, and I don't think it gets any easier for him.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: When when I saw the story about their offensive line coach um during during training camp, he had been their offensive line coach through multiple head coaches since Doug Peterson was there.
- 35:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, brought in Kelsey, John Lane Johnson, every good Eagles linemen.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Sirianni tries to get him to be the run game coordinator, yeah.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: And he told him nope.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he quit.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: And from that moment on, I knew that I already didn't like all the the stink around the Eagles last year, and it just smelled worse.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: And I I was ready to to call it out, and it seems like it's not it's trending in that direction.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: So yeah, it's who knows?
- 36:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's it's week five, you know, there's a lot of time for things to turn around, but when you're going straight towards the bottom like this on a nosedive, it's typically not a good recipe.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: Um, moving on to our next game that we're going to discuss, the Las Vegas Raiders travel to New England, 1 p.m.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: Eastern kickoff on Sunday.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: The Patriots are favored by three and a half.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: The over-under is set at 45 and a half.
- 36:42SPEAKER_02: Can the Raiders continue to play exceptional offense on the road against a pretty good New England defense?
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: I think they can.
- 36:51SPEAKER_04: I think I really like Clint Kubiak.
- 36:53SPEAKER_04: His dad was obviously very successful in the NFL.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: I think it's a good family bloodline there.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: I um I really think Kubiek just has an answer when it seems like there are no answers.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: I think um going against a good Chiefs defense that's historically good against the AFC West, being able to put up 27 and be in a fight with the Chiefs when you're you were picking number one overall last year is a very good sign, in my opinion, if they keep it rolling.
- 37:30SPEAKER_02: Yep, totally agree.
- 37:32SPEAKER_02: Um, I know we already talked about Brock Bowers.
- 37:35SPEAKER_02: Is there anybody outside of Brock Bowers, whether it's from like a fantasy aspect or like a prop aspect that you like as a pass catcher on the Raiders?
- 37:45SPEAKER_04: I do like Jalen Naylor, uh wide receiver.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: I've always liked him.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: Just kind of always stuck out to me.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: I know he was in Minnesota for a little bit, and it was one of those situations where he has probably the best receiver in the NFL, Justin Jefferson, at the time that he was there.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: And Jordan Addison in front of him.
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: Not gonna really get a fair shot there, but now he's got his fair shot to be the wide receiver, one on the Raiders, and so far, so good, three and one.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: Um, and then in terms of the running backs on both teams, I know Ramondre has kind of dominated the early part of the season from the Patriots backfield from a split uh carries percentage.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but it seems like it's trending more and more towards Trevion Henderson.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: So which running back do you kind of like either maybe just this Sunday or long term more?
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: Genty Genti?
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: Genty until Ramondre Stevenson is just gone.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: Until Ramondre Stevenson is not on that roster.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: I do not fully trust Trevion Henderson.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: That is fair.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Um, well, it's time for us to pick a winner.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: I will let you go first this time.
- 38:54SPEAKER_02: Who do you have winning this game?
- 38:55SPEAKER_02: The Raiders or the Patriots?
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: I personally like the Raiders to be on a little upset here.
- 39:02SPEAKER_04: I think Kubiak made a comment at the halftime.
- 39:05SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you caught it.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: And he said, Yeah, we're winning this game.
- 39:09SPEAKER_04: He goes, and we're gonna win this game, and then walked right off of the interview.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: They did not win that game for those for those at home.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: He did not win that game.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna be a little pissed off going in this game, kind of with a vengeance.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: Patriots might be riding a little high.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: I like the Raiders.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I picked the Patriots last week, actually.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: I thought they would come out, you know, kind of fired up to play their division rival in Buffalo.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: And also just the way I mean it had it's it almost always works out this way.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: If a team has a very emotional ending to a game, the next week starts out really, really slow.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: And I I like the Raiders here, honestly.
- 39:51SPEAKER_02: I like their offense.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: I kind of trust Kirk Cousins right now more than I trust Drake.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: Which that's fair.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: Which right now that sounds a year ago, that would have been crazy.
- 40:00SPEAKER_04: Or a year ago, I would have slapped you for saying that.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: But now it's in this world that we live in.
- 40:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's perfectly fine.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: So I am the people are gonna think we're copying notes, but I'm also taking the Raiders here as well.
- 40:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm gonna have to switch up some of the picks here.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Um now we're gonna go over to Pittsburgh, staying uh in the AFC, the Colts fresh off of their trip to London, um, and the Steelers kind of off of a mini buy because they played on Thursday night last week, which they lost to Cleveland.
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: The Steelers host the Colts.
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: They are two and a half point favorites.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: This over-under is set at 44 and a half.
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: My first question, and really kind of my main question about this game, is there one of these quarterbacks that you have more confidence in than the other, or is it just kind of like picking the ugly duckling?
- 40:49SPEAKER_04: I think I would rather pick up trash from my local landfill, build it up to play quarterback than have Aaron Rodgers or Daniel Jones.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: It it god, that's oh, that's such a bad pick of the litter there.
- 41:11SPEAKER_04: But if you had to pick.
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: So if I had to pick, I would take Daniel Dimes just for the sole fact that he's younger.
- 41:44SPEAKER_04: That's but it's it's not good either.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: Kind of on the same train of thought, I I feel like these rosters remind me a lot of each other.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: They, you know, they have some really strong players at certain positions, Jonathan Taylor, TJ Watt, um, you know, like decent receivers, but like not nothing like that really overly impresses me on either team.
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: If you had to pick one of these rosters as a whole, which roster would you feel better about moving?
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: Just for this year, move feel better about moving forward.
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: Like if I had to inherit one of these rosters and try and take it to the playoffs, yep, Colts.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, probably.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: I got the run.
- 42:24SPEAKER_04: I got the run game.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: Um, well, now it's time to pick a winner for this game.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: I am going to pick the Steelers.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: I just think that the rest advantage they, you know, have about 10 days off before this game gets played versus the Colts who are traveling back from London.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think their defense will play well at home against Daniel Jones, that he was having a tough time against the commanders' defense last week, and I don't think this will be much better.
- 42:51SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna take the Steelers here.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: Where are you going?
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: I will take the Colts, and that is not because I just like five minutes ago said that I need to switch picks.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: There was a lot of dysfunction on the Steelers' sideline Thursday.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: It Mike McCarthy was screaming at Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers was screaming at Mike McCarthy.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: What the F are you doing?
- 43:15SPEAKER_04: This, that they've worked together for what, 10 years before this?
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: How I understand, you know, there's gonna be some hiccups, but it can't get that bad.
- 43:30SPEAKER_05: In your first year back.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and the Steelers also looked very just lifeless against Cleveland.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: They just look like, all right, yeah, here's the ball, whoever the running back is now.
- 43:40SPEAKER_04: I don't even know.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: I think it's Jalen Warren.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Yep, Jalen Warren.
- 43:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, sounds right.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: Here you go, Jalen Warren.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, you got three yards.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: Okay, Rogers is gonna come out now and do this.
- 43:51SPEAKER_04: It's it just seems like they're playing uninspired football and they're kind of just trying to alleviate themselves from Aaron Rodgers.
- 43:59SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Um, so I am on the Steelers.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: Carlos is on the Colts.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Uh, moving on to an NFC West showdown.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: The 49ers travel out to Seattle.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: Uh pretty fun game here.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: Um, the week.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it's one of the best-game of the week.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, one of the best games of the whole week.
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: Um, the 49ers, as we mentioned earlier, are undefeated.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: The Seahawks are favored in this game by two and a half.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: They over-under set at 45 and a half.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: My biggest question here is which head coach do you feel like you have more trust in?
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: Because both of these coaches are exceptional.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: Which one, if you had to pick one of them, do you feel more confidence in?
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go with the one that just recently won a Super Bowl, Mike McDaniel.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: Or Mike McDonald, excuse me.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: Not not Mike McDaniel.
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: I'll go with Mike McDonald.
- 44:48SPEAKER_04: I really like him.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: I feel like when he was in Baltimore, he was getting a lot of praise.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: And he's 39, 40.
- 44:57SPEAKER_04: So he's only gonna get smarter about the game.
- 45:01SPEAKER_04: He's only gonna be around the game more, see a lot more.
- 45:04SPEAKER_04: And it's real realistically sky's the limit for him.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: I think he was one of the one of the better hires of that coaching cycle.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: I think there were about three good ones.
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: Uh one of them's home.
- 45:17SPEAKER_04: One of them's home.
- 45:20SPEAKER_04: The other was he might or may or may not have been the other guy that I wanted, but I'm not gonna give them the credit.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: Everybody can do their in their inferences here.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: Um kind of segueing into your pick for this game, do you feel like based off how Brock Purdy has played, that he can take some of that good play on the road against a really good Seattle defense and have another good game here, or do you think Seattle pulls this out?
- 45:46SPEAKER_04: I always feel like this game is always very tightly contested.
- 45:50SPEAKER_04: It feels like every time these teams play, except the playoffs, because I think the last time they played, it was 41 to 15 or something like that.
- 45:58SPEAKER_04: Niners were very hurt.
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: They lost Kittle midway through the game, I think, with the Torn Achilles.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: I know they lost him at some point in that game.
- 46:06SPEAKER_04: Didn't have McCaffrey, you know, things kind of spiraled out of the way for the 49ers.
- 46:11SPEAKER_04: I just think the Seahawks, with the explosiveness of JSN, they don't have their running games, their running game back.
- 46:20SPEAKER_04: But to their credit, their running game was still very good last week.
- 46:26SPEAKER_04: I think Seattle does just enough to get the job done.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: So we are gonna disagree again.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: I'm actually gonna take the 49ers here on the road.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: I think really for me, it just comes down to um the ways that the 49ers are able to win.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: The 49ers can win a low-scoring defensive game.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: I have a lot of confidence in their defense, but they can clearly win in a shootout, which Darnold's still kind of working his way back from that hip injury in week one.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: I know he's played the last few games, but um, I still just feel a little bit more confident in the 49ers.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: And these are two very familiar teams with each other.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: So slight, slight lean, I'm gonna take the 49ers here.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: So now we will move on to Sunday night football.
- 47:11SPEAKER_02: Um, the Ravens travel to Atlanta.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: Uh the Falcons are favored by three and a half.
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: The over-under is set at 43.5.
- 47:19SPEAKER_02: Obviously, there's a potential we do not see Lamar Jackson here.
- 47:23SPEAKER_04: There's also a potential for a hurricane, apparently.
- 47:26SPEAKER_04: I'm driving, I'm driving to Alabama this weekend, and there's potential that some rain hits Atlanta.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: I did not know that.
- 47:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's a dumb stadium, so they'll be fine.
- 47:37SPEAKER_02: But yeah, did not know that.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: Um, Atlanta also comes into this game on a two-game winning streak.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: My question here is Michael Penix good, or is he just better than Cooper Rush?
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: I think yes is the right answer to that question.
- 47:55SPEAKER_04: Um I Penix is good.
- 47:58SPEAKER_04: I um I don't when he first came out, everybody was like, okay, why are you drafting him?
- 48:05SPEAKER_04: Why are you drafting him?
- 48:06SPEAKER_04: And then they pair him with a defensive head coach, right?
- 48:08SPEAKER_04: Raheem Morris.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 48:11SPEAKER_04: Obviously, Raheem Morris is no longer the coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: They pair him with Kevin Stefansky, who's been a pretty good offensive mind.
- 48:20SPEAKER_04: I think he's a multiple-time coach of the year, too.
- 48:23SPEAKER_06: Mm-hmm.
- 48:24SPEAKER_04: I think you know, pairing those two together is gonna do pretty good for Penix's career.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: And it just seems like the offense kind of also has an identity now.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: It definitely seems like they are able to find what their identity is now compared to weeks one and two, because that was that was a tough product to watch when they had Cover Rush.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: Um definitely seems better now.
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: Uh, my last question before we do our picks for this game.
- 48:52SPEAKER_02: If you had to pick one running back in the NFL, would you pick Bijan or Jameer Gibbs?
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Bijan.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: Pretty quickly.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Bijan.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Any any like, is it close or is it pretty clear to you it's Bijan?
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: I'd say there's a there's like a little step.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: I would say Bichon is here Gibbs is a little below him, but not nothing like sort of unsurmountable, I guess would be the word there.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: Bijan is he's just explosive.
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: Like Monday night, Monday night against the Saints.
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: What was it, the third play from scrimmage?
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: They it just seemed like the the line just went, okay, here we go.
- 49:38SPEAKER_04: Block move one guy, and there he goes for 60 yards.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 49:43SPEAKER_04: It's just crazy what he can do.
- 49:45SPEAKER_04: And not given Gibbs' credit, he can move, he can move, get open.
- 49:50SPEAKER_04: He's very good in the pass game, but I just think Bijan is just the best runner in the NFL.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think if I was if we were talking specifically about fantasy, I would probably lean Jameer Gibbs just because of his receiving ability.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: But I think I tend to agree with you.
- 50:06SPEAKER_02: I think Bijan is the more gifted running back.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: Um, he's obviously bigger a little bit faster, too.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Um, so I would probably lean Bijan as well.
- 50:16SPEAKER_02: I was just surprised how quickly you answered.
- 50:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I because I had to make the decision in fantasy do I want Bijan or Gibbs?
- 50:23SPEAKER_04: And I picked because one I had the second pick, one of them's gonna fall.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 50:28SPEAKER_04: And then Gibbs went one.
- 50:30SPEAKER_04: I said, okay, cool, Bijan it is.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: I said, hopefully this works out.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: So now it is time for us to pick Sunday night football.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: I'm going to take the Falcons here.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: Uh I think the Falcons are playing really well.
- 50:41SPEAKER_02: I think they're running the ball really, really well.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Um, also the chance that Lamar either plays banged up or we have to see Tyler Huntley play again.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: Who do you pick here on Sunday night football?
- 50:53SPEAKER_04: I still think I think the Ravens still get it done.
- 50:57SPEAKER_04: I think the Ravens still get it done.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of talent around that Ravens team.
- 51:03SPEAKER_04: It might be a poop fest just to kind of just it might be bad.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: I think we're also leaving out Derrick Henry here.
- 51:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:14SPEAKER_04: That when any team has Derrick Henry, we have to kind of put that into account.
- 51:19SPEAKER_04: Because he can take the game over with one run.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: I think, yeah, I think the Ravens still get it done.
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: I think their defense is significantly better than the Falcons.
- 51:31SPEAKER_04: And I think they'll kind of bait Penix into making some mistakes and kind of swing the game away a little bit.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: Uh now to our last game, we were going to preview in detail.
- 51:43SPEAKER_02: Maybe the best Monday night matchup we'll get all season.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: Dare we say Super Bowl preview?
- 51:48SPEAKER_02: It could be.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Uh hopefully, hopefully, there's a team in Teal on one of these sides.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: But for now, it could be a Super Bowl preview, and that is the Bills traveling out to SoFi Stadium for Monday night football.
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: The Rams are three-point favorites.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: The total is set at 54.5.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: Aaron Donald should be coming back from injury.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: The Rams just obviously got back on this big fourth quarter comeback against the Eagles, and the Bills kind of just let one happen to them.
- 52:18SPEAKER_02: What do you think the biggest key to this matchup is?
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: Is it the Bills rushing attack or the Rams passing offense?
- 52:26SPEAKER_04: I think the biggest key is going to be whoever gets a stop.
- 52:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:32SPEAKER_04: Because these are two very high-powered offenses.
- 52:36SPEAKER_04: Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford, they have the ability to go just shot for shot with one another, and whoever falls over first.
- 52:45SPEAKER_04: They just got both have the ability to do that, and I think it's going to come down to what defense is going to bend and not break in the fourth quarter.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 52:55SPEAKER_02: So when you are looking at who's going to win this game, are you siding with the Rams or the Bills?
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: I'm siding.
- 53:06SPEAKER_04: I like the Bills coming off a loss.
- 53:08SPEAKER_04: I like the Bills coming off a loss.
- 53:10SPEAKER_04: I think it'll be I say it'll be a very high-scoring game, and now I'm looking at that over, and I don't think that's going to get close with my luck, but I think I think the Bills coming off a loss.
- 53:22SPEAKER_04: I think they kind of give the Rams a little bit of a humbling, and I think after this game is where we start to see the Rams turn into that team that they've been projected to be.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: See, I I agree with all of your thoughts on the game.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: I think this game comes down to who can get more stops on defense.
- 53:40SPEAKER_02: And really just for that reason, I kind of trust the Rams right now to match up with the Bills on defense better than the Bills matching up with the Rams.
- 53:49SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 53:50SPEAKER_02: And I mean, I don't know how much of a home crowd LA really gets, but they will get one for this game.
- 53:56SPEAKER_04: They'll get like Spikley or something out there.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 54:00SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm gonna take the Rams here at home.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: I I think this is gonna be an incredible game to watch.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: I would anticipate a really good Josh Allen performance.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: He always plays well in these big games like this.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: Um, but I'm gonna lean the Rams.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: I just think that it's harder for the Bills to cover the guys on the Rams than it is for the Rams to cover the Rams.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: For the Rams to cover the guys on the Bills, yeah.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'm gonna take the Rams here, but I could easily see the Bills coming in and playing well off that loss.
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: So now it is time to go through the rest of the game.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna go ping-pong style.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: So I will read the games off and we will announce our winners for each game.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: So first Thursday night football, the winless Buccaneers, who, like you said, just covered their first spread in 14 games.
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: They travel.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they travel to Dallas, where the Cowboys are eight and a half point favorites.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: I'm taking the Cowboys.
- 54:50SPEAKER_02: Who are you taking?
- 54:51SPEAKER_04: I don't think this one's gonna be close.
- 54:53SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna be the Cowboys.
- 54:55SPEAKER_04: The Bucks are a mess.
- 54:58SPEAKER_04: Maybe this is where Todd Bulls gets the can.
- 55:01SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 55:01SPEAKER_02: Uh the Bears travel up to Green Bay.
- 55:04SPEAKER_02: The Bears are actually two and a half point road favorites.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: Who are you taking here?
- 55:10SPEAKER_02: I like the Bears.
- 55:12SPEAKER_04: I don't think the Packers have shown me anything to be inspired of them.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 55:17SPEAKER_04: Now the Bears do have both Kyle Manangay and DeAndre Swift on the injury report as of today.
- 55:25SPEAKER_04: We'll see, we'll see if they go, but even then, I still think the Bears are the Bears have just been playing better football as of late.
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 55:35SPEAKER_02: I I am gonna pick the Packers, and I don't know if there's like official numbers behind this.
- 55:41SPEAKER_02: I've kind of created my own system, which is a backup quarterback in their second game playing.
- 55:47SPEAKER_02: It's typically really bad.
- 55:50SPEAKER_02: And just for that reason, I'm just gonna go with the Packers, and I'm not gonna watch this game.
- 55:54SPEAKER_04: Well, they might they might just roll out Case Keenum at wide receiver this time and then Tyson Bajan at quarterback.
- 56:01SPEAKER_04: We might gotta watch out for the trickery there.
- 56:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:04SPEAKER_02: Um, so you're on the Bears, I am on the Packers now to two of the Jags' biggest rivals in the AFC South.
- 56:11SPEAKER_02: The Texans and the windless Texans traveled to the windless Titans.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, yeah, this is probably the worst game.
- 56:19SPEAKER_02: Bad matchup, but the Texans are seven and a half point favorites.
- 56:24SPEAKER_02: Who are you taking here in this matchup?
- 56:28SPEAKER_04: Uh, both of them to lose.
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: Ty.
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: I know I'm kidding.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm gonna take Houston.
- 56:35SPEAKER_04: I just think Tennessee's just got no not a sign of life over there.
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:41SPEAKER_02: I I've been saying it since week one last year that I thought Cam Ward was a bad pick and he he looks lost.
- 56:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, just really lost.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: I think it's it's just a really, really bad situation for him.
- 56:57SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 56:58SPEAKER_04: It's just I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: And they're kind of doing unfortunately.
- 57:03SPEAKER_04: Cam Ward is one of my worst enemies because he went to Miami.
- 57:07SPEAKER_04: I'm a Florida State fan, and now he's on my biggest rival, Tennessee.
- 57:10SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 57:11SPEAKER_02: And honestly, it's it is kind of funny.
- 57:14SPEAKER_02: Like, one I am also picking Houston, by the way.
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: Um, but it is kind of funny to think about the way that the Jags used to like half-ass create change in their organization.
- 57:25SPEAKER_02: They would fire the coach but keep the GM, fire the GM, but keep the coach.
- 57:29SPEAKER_02: And the Titans are the Titans are doing all of that right now.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: They fired their head coach, kept the same GM right before that.
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: They fired their GM and kept their head coach in Mike Vrabel.
- 57:41SPEAKER_04: I mean, it is look how we should be a glaring example, uh the Jaguars should be.
- 57:49SPEAKER_04: The NFL team is on look what happens when you just do a clean sweep.
- 57:53SPEAKER_00: Yes, right.
- 57:54SPEAKER_04: We flipped our record right in one year, right?
- 57:59SPEAKER_04: We were a four-win team, clean house, and then turned into a 13-win team, and now five weeks into this, the year after that 13-win team, we're considered one of the best teams in the NFL in a lot of people's eyes, right?
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 58:15SPEAKER_02: Um, the Bengals, fresh off of the loss to the Jags, they are six and a half point road favorites in Miami.
- 58:22SPEAKER_02: Uh, Jamar Chase, for what it's worth, is still in the concussion protocol.
- 58:26SPEAKER_02: T.
- 58:26SPEAKER_02: Higgins might also maybe miss this game with that ankle injury.
- 58:31SPEAKER_02: I I'm not as down on the Dolphins as most people.
- 58:34SPEAKER_02: I actually like the way that they compete in a lot of their games.
- 58:37SPEAKER_02: I'm picking the Dolphins.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: Oh boy, I'm picking the Bengals, and I'm gonna overturn that one really quick.
- 58:43SPEAKER_04: I was play I was talking to some of my buddies watching the Sunday night game last week, the Lions and Panthers.
- 58:51SPEAKER_04: And I'm looking, I'm like, damn, the Dolphins didn't allow a touchdown today.
- 58:56SPEAKER_04: They still lost.
- 58:58SPEAKER_04: I'm like, okay, that's interesting.
- 59:00SPEAKER_04: Then I look at their schedule.
- 59:02SPEAKER_04: Prove me wrong, Miami, but I don't see a single winnable game on that schedule from here on out.
- 59:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:13SPEAKER_02: I I I just I I don't know what it is.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: I just like the way that they like at least that they're leaning into like the young guys that they have, and those young guys play their ass off right now.
- 59:25SPEAKER_04: They're playing, they're playing to hopefully make it on another roster, right?
- 59:29SPEAKER_02: Exactly, right.
- 59:30SPEAKER_04: And no offense, no offense to these guys because they're professionals, and I'm sitting on my ass recording a podcast, but yeah, pretty much.
- 59:40SPEAKER_02: Um now to the uh 4-0, somehow Minnesota Vikings with Kyler Murray.
- 59:46SPEAKER_02: They traveled to New Orleans where they are one and a half point road favorites.
- 59:50SPEAKER_02: I am a big fan of the Saints offense.
- 59:53SPEAKER_02: I love Tyler Shuck.
- 59:54SPEAKER_02: I called it in the preseason that I thought that the Saints had kind of a dark horse shot to make the playoffs, which I'm still not completely out on that.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_02: They've had a pretty hard schedule as well.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: I'm picking the Saints here at home.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: I think the the Vikings are a really fluky record team right now.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: I'm taking the Saints at home.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Where are you going here?
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: I am gonna ride with Minnesota.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_04: I think Chris Olave got a little banged up apparently.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_04: Seems like he's missing practice, seems like he did not practice today.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_04: Saints don't have Travis Achen, ETN, whatever his name is pronounced.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_04: They don't have Achen, no Olave.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_04: I think Kamara got banged up too.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: Not a recipe for success when you're losing your two big guys on offense.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: Now, Juwan Johnson, good tight end, but I don't think this Vikings defense has been incredible to start the year, and I just I don't really see any signs of it slowing down.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_02: Um, moving on to the Browns, who are three and one, their only loss coming to the Jags.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: Uh, they traveled to the one and three Jets, where the Jets are two and a half point home favorites.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_02: The Jets kind of the same way for the the the uh Dolphins in my eyes.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_02: I don't hate what they're doing.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: I don't really hate a lot of their players right now.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm picking the Jets.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_02: They're showing competence or what is that word?
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: Competency.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: There it goes.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm picking the Jets here at home.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_02: I just think that there's gonna be some regression from Deshaun Watson.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_02: I'm picking the Jets here at home.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_02: Who do you have between Cleveland and the Jets?
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna ride with the Browns.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_04: I think um a defense that has forced one turnover in, I think it was like 1200 days or something.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_04: I don't think that's getting turned around overnight, folks.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_04: Um, even if Deshaun's the quarterback, I think the Browns kind of rely on the run game with Judkins and just rely on the defense to make Gino make some mistakes.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_04: I think the Browns kind of take this one away.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_02: In the NFC East, the New York Giants and Jameis Winston travel to Washington, D.C., where we should see Jaden Daniels make his return.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_02: And simply for that reason, I'm going to take the commanders.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_04: Ah, you're gonna make me pick against my boy Jameis, huh?
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go ahead and take the I'm gonna take the commanders.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: There it goes.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_04: Phone went down with it too.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: See, you made me so mad I kicked the desk and then my phone went down.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: Made me pick against my guy Jameis.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: No, I think uh Washington kind of takes this one away.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: Their defense has been playing pretty good as of late.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_04: Played Philly really well, low bar.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_04: Um they can hear me too, by the way.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_04: They're out there listening to this.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_04: I know as soon as I open that door, waiting, I'm gonna have hell to pay.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, waiting.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_04: But no, I think I think Washington takes it away.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_04: I think I think Dan Clinton's coaching for his job this year kind of feels like he's been on the hot seat since as of last year.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_04: As long as Daniel stays healthy, I think they've got a shot at pretty much whatever they want to do because it seems like this division is wide open.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_02: Uh in the AFC West, the two and two Broncos travel out to the team that I picked to win the AFC West this year.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_02: The Chargers who are not great.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_02: The winless Chargers.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_02: I am I I just don't think that they're gonna be 0-5.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_02: Like I'm gonna just pick them at this point until they win a game.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna pick the Chargers, and that's really my only reasoning.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: I don't really think either of these teams are all that great right now.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: Um, I just think there has to be some positive regression.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: Give me the Chargers.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_02: Who do you have here?
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_04: I think this is the week they get it done.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_04: I think this is the week they get it done.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna ride with the Chargers.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_04: I did not like a lot of what I saw out of Denver the last game.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_04: Uh something has to go right for the Chargers at some point.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_04: Something has to go their way.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: Can't really think of a better time than against your big rival.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_04: I will I will take the Chargers.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna come into this one a little fired up because if not, oh boy, that roster is going to be for sale quickly.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_02: In our last game that we are going to pick, the Detroit Lions are five and a half point road favorites in Arizona.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: I I like some of the offensive pieces for the Cardinals, but that defense has a lot of holes on it.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_02: I am taking the Lions favorite.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm taking the Lions here on the road.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_02: I think they cover the spread.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_02: I think Jameer Gibbs and company Amon Ross St.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_02: Brown have a big day in Arizona.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_02: I'm taking the Lions.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_02: Who do you have here in the desert?
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_04: Well, folks, I'm just gonna go ahead and open with the bet the over on this one because Jesus, this one's gonna go way over.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_04: The Lions have looked like the worst, I think the worst defense in NFL history so far.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_04: Now they are supposed to be getting Brian Branch and some other players back here shortly.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: I just think, as a talent standpoint, I think the Lions offense can shoot with anybody.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_04: I'll take the Lions.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: Well, we have successfully gone through every game for the week five slate.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_02: And the Lions question that I have to ask Carlos before you leave the question that I ask everybody that joins the tailgate did you enjoy your time in the tailgate?
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_04: I sure did enjoy my time in the tailgate.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_04: First timer at this tailgate.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_03: You're not new to tailgates, but no, I've I've seen I've seen you in a few tailgates, seen you trying.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_02: Well uh I appreciate you jumping in, uh chopping it up with me a little bit.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_02: Uh anything else you want to leave the tailgate listeners with?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_04: Give them a big old little do ball.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_04: Leave them with that.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, let's do it.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_03: All right, well, you did it for me.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_02: Well, I appreciate you jumping in the in the tailgate with me, and uh appreciate it, man.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, man, I appreciate you having me.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_02: Now it is time to go through our tail the tailgate picks for the NFL week five.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_02: Our year-to-date record stands at 20-12.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_02: We are up a whopping 6.25 units.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_02: Last week we went six and two, up 3.7 units.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_02: So we are rolling along on the tail the tailgate train.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_02: So it's time for our eight picks for this week.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_02: Our first pick is the Steelers money line.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: I talked about it on our preview of the game.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_02: The Steelers have a pretty large time off advantage.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_02: They played last Thursday.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_02: The Colts are traveling back from London.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_02: I'm going to take the Steelers on the money line.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_02: Next, the Chargers, plus three and a half.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_02: I just think that eventually water has to find its level.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_02: That team is not going to go 0-16.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: The Broncos offense can be beaten.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_02: I'm going to take the Chargers at home here, plus three and a half against the Broncos.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_02: Moving on to pick number three, the Lions team total.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_02: One of the last games me and Carlos discussed was the Lions and the Cardinals.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: I'm going to take the Lions to score over 30.5 points on Sunday.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: Next is the Jets moneyline.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_02: They are hosting the Cleveland Browns.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: I like the Jets in this spot against a team like Cleveland at home.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_02: Give me the Jets on the money line.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_02: Next is the Washington Commanders on the spread, minus three and a half, hosting Jameis Winston and the New York Giants.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_02: They will be getting Jaden Daniels back at quarterback.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_02: Stephon Diggs and Terry McLaurin.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_02: I'd like them to cover this number three and a half at home in Washington.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_02: Moving to Monday night football, the big matchup of the entire weekend, the Rams and the Bills.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_02: Give me the Rams moneyline at home.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_02: I like their defense more than I like the Bills defense.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_02: And I think that game could be a shootout, but I'm just going to go with the Rams on the moneyline.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_02: Pick number seven, we are going to do a little moneyline parlay.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_02: And that is going to feature the international game, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Thursday night game.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_02: So kind of a few days apart, but we're going to take the Cowboys and the Jaguars money line on the parlay.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_02: And then our last pick is an AFC South clash between the Texans and the Titans.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_02: I'm going to the Texans minus seven on the spread.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_02: So to recap the eight picks that we have for the tail, the tailgate segment this week, Steelers on the money line.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_02: Chargers plus three and a half.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Let's finish up the episode with our gold star of the week.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_02: Have to go back to Monday night football between the Saints and the Falcons, where B.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_02: John Robinson went absolutely crazy.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: He had 19 carries, 145 yards, and two touchdowns.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: And on the third play of the game, he broke the scoring open with a 59-yard, explosive touchdown run.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: Congrats, B.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_02: John Robinson.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_02: You are the gold star of the week and our what to watch this weekend.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_02: The biggest game in college football this weekend, the biggest game in the SEC.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_02: Georgia, Alabama.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_02: Going to be a great matchup between Keelan Russell and Gunner Stockton, Kirby Smart and Kalen Dabore, all the stars all over the field.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_02: Looking forward to Georgia versus Bama.
