- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, thank god you're rich. And then what happened? I
- 1:52Speaker 2: find you?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no other words were that's it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It was good. We moved on and so we're here.
- 1:58Speaker 2: We were early. I to be I was on time.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Nine to twenty, Stacy, nine to twenty. Thank you, Stacey.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Welcome to Busting with the Boys again. Dude, third time,
- 2:10Speaker 2: there's a charm.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Good to see you back on your feet.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Thank you. Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Well I don't think that was ever off my feet,
- 2:16Speaker 5: but well, Tennessee, Yeah, there.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Was like a little Browns consultant, consultant.
- 2:21Speaker 2: We've all been fired. Yeah, shit canned.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Yeah, go ahead, Taylor.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, don't get scared now. Ye ask the hard stuff.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Let's go back on my feet.
- 2:34Speaker 1: What took place in that conversation that led because when
- 2:37Speaker 1: the season ended everyone's like Brave was gonna get extension.
- 2:39Speaker 1: The rumor is that Braves is now going to go
- 2:41Speaker 1: from an eighth sheet to actually have a little more
- 2:43Speaker 1: of a GM role as well, maybe a little more
- 2:45Speaker 1: power in the building. And then you walked into a
- 2:47Speaker 1: meeting and you walk down though I can know.
- 2:48Speaker 2: That wasn't a meeting. That those aren't meetings. You just
- 2:50Speaker 2: get fired.
- 2:51Speaker 1: They just called you and fired you.
- 2:53Speaker 2: No, you walk upstairs. Yeah, you just handle it.
- 2:56Speaker 5: I just said give me an hour and I'll be
- 2:58Speaker 5: out of here. I want to talk to my staff.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I feel like you. You wouldn't be a fun guy
- 3:02Speaker 4: to to fire.
- 3:03Speaker 5: No, it was meant again, they make everybody makes decisions,
- 3:07Speaker 5: and uh I any question. No, I got thet I
- 3:12Speaker 5: got the point, So get the drift.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So there was never like a hey, what do you
- 3:18Speaker 1: think could have happened differently?
- 3:21Speaker 5: No, no that at that point. No, there was no Again,
- 3:26Speaker 5: it was no discussion. I heard the message and I
- 3:29Speaker 5: just said, give me an hour. I like to talk
- 3:30Speaker 5: to my staff and I'll box my stuff up.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Just spin the cup. How close were you to coaching
- 3:39Speaker 4: in college, because there are rumors.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Throughout not very close, not very clear.
- 3:45Speaker 4: There are rumors about you potentially being the defensive coordinator
- 3:47Speaker 4: at Remember when I texted you, I was like, hey, yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 4: no interest.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And what I text I'd even text back.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Or no, I forget what you No?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Not very close. No.
- 3:59Speaker 5: And I love time in Cleveland. Yeah, I mean I
- 4:01Speaker 5: love being on the offensive side of the ball. I
- 4:03Speaker 5: loved just getting back to coaching. Helped the old ligne.
- 4:06Speaker 5: You'd have loved it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You were in there all the time telling guys to
- 4:11Speaker 1: wall off on the backside of duo, getting just getting
- 4:13Speaker 1: the way in.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Backside, inside out, deuce, near foot.
- 4:17Speaker 4: It was there anything during that time with Cleveland? You
- 4:21Speaker 4: got to have it there at leverage.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Man reach, you take them on an angle, you find them.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Are you running the same offense in Cleveland?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Uh? There were some similarities. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Was there a time like just having that year in
- 4:32Speaker 4: Cleveland to where you found or reignited some passion that
- 4:35Speaker 4: you had that when you were you were at first
- 4:37Speaker 4: head coach, all the expectations, all the pressure, and then
- 4:39Speaker 4: you kind of just go into a consulting role and
- 4:41Speaker 4: kind of having more fun around Cleveland.
- 4:44Speaker 5: I think that that's probably there's some truth to that.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I think there's some reality to that. I think you
- 4:49Speaker 5: realize that you miss it, you know, and that you
- 4:52Speaker 5: want to do it, that there's nothing else that you
- 4:54Speaker 5: want to do.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Do you have What do you feel like you learned
- 4:57Speaker 4: from the first time as a head coach now coming
- 4:59Speaker 4: into New England.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I think we learned stuff every day.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I mean, it's just there's gonna be things that come
- 5:05Speaker 5: up every day. Situation, injuries, you know. I mean we
- 5:10Speaker 5: always talk about distractions are unavoidable. It's how we we
- 5:13Speaker 5: handle them. And so just staying flexible, staying consistent, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 5: focusing on the guys that want to improve, that are
- 5:22Speaker 5: taking a message, and those things that sometimes I let
- 5:25Speaker 5: the you know, the small majority affect all all the
- 5:31Speaker 5: other positive stuff.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, you'd always say, you can't fuck up my Friday, but.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Sometimes sometimes they try. No, I mean they tried, Taylor tried,
- 5:39Speaker 5: and all everybody tried.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I think sometimes.
- 5:43Speaker 5: I probably did. But it was a good message. It
- 5:45Speaker 5: was a good tagline.
- 5:47Speaker 2: How did you do that?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Development of you and Jamis Winston running at the start
- 5:52Speaker 1: of every.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Practice, So they would go routes on air, right, and
- 5:56Speaker 5: then they would go and I was like, I can
- 5:58Speaker 5: I mean, I could push these guys a little bit,
- 6:01Speaker 5: just goofing around.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I'd wait till the last guy throwing take off.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Running and just trying to have some fun down there
- 6:07Speaker 5: in the Greenbrier down in West Virginia.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Have you ever seen what a spirit that guy has?
- 6:12Speaker 1: I was going to ever met a guy you think.
- 6:15Speaker 5: It's like, you know, two three days in this is
- 6:18Speaker 5: a stick, right, yeah? Three five second a week, two weeks.
- 6:23Speaker 5: You're like, it's impossible to stay in character this long.
- 6:25Speaker 1: This is actually really this guy is all time.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm like, now this is just a stick, and
- 6:31Speaker 5: I'm like, nope, this is I loved Its awesome.
- 6:35Speaker 4: When did it feel like New England was going to
- 6:37Speaker 4: be a real possibility for you?
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, I mean just going through the process of interviewing
- 6:41Speaker 2: and having he's doing teams reach out, he's doing right
- 6:45Speaker 2: now the coach talk.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think after the after the season,
- 6:50Speaker 5: like that's when it heats up, you know what I mean,
- 6:53Speaker 5: That's when people.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Call how about this?
- 6:54Speaker 2: How about this?
- 6:55Speaker 4: So we get so because the coach Yeah, yeah, the
- 6:58Speaker 4: interview process, everything else. Then give are you leaving a
- 7:00Speaker 4: good inn? Are you leaving like after you have a
- 7:02Speaker 4: good interview, and you're just thinking, man, what if I
- 7:05Speaker 4: become the head coach of the Patriots? Hey, three banners
- 7:10Speaker 4: up there. You reminded us all the time to work.
- 7:13Speaker 2: No, I didn't the league. You're not in every single
- 7:18Speaker 2: cheer in this meeting with you guys. You guys rejuice
- 7:22Speaker 2: it a little bit.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Hey, listen, just stay in front of your guys.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Listen.
- 7:24Speaker 1: What do I know I've done before?
- 7:26Speaker 2: No, that is not true.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Myself imperserrate that.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But but what are you talking about?
- 7:35Speaker 4: But legit? Legit, like whether you're flying back or you're
- 7:38Speaker 4: driving and you're just thinking, what if I'm the head
- 7:41Speaker 4: coach of the New England Patriots?
- 7:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think that that goes through. And
- 7:44Speaker 5: I think that the timing was right. And had opportunity
- 7:47Speaker 5: to come back here probably prior as an assistant, I
- 7:51Speaker 5: didn't feel like that was something that I wanted to
- 7:53Speaker 5: do or that was what was best for me at
- 7:57Speaker 5: that particular time. And then I think the time was
- 8:00Speaker 5: was right.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Was the interview process a little bit different with the
- 8:03Speaker 1: Patriots because you have the relationship with Craft called them up,
- 8:06Speaker 1: say hey, what do you think?
- 8:07Speaker 5: No, I mean, they were all about they were all
- 8:11Speaker 5: about the same. Yeah, I mean as far as actually
- 8:15Speaker 5: I met with Chicago, met with the Jets, and then
- 8:18Speaker 5: met with the Patriots, and had talked to other teams,
- 8:20Speaker 5: but didn't end up taking those interviews.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Did any other teams offer you.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Offer without an interview?
- 8:27Speaker 1: No, like you end up talking to those couple of
- 8:29Speaker 1: other teams.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Oh No, I mean I think that that after meeting here,
- 8:33Speaker 5: I think that it happened pretty quick over the next
- 8:35Speaker 5: couple of days.
- 8:36Speaker 1: When you go out to practice and it's like, you know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: fans can come in the gen pops watching, they're excited.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Do you ever hear anything about the twenty nineteen season
- 8:44Speaker 1: when you Bill Belichick's Bill Belichick?
- 8:47Speaker 5: No, I mean I don't hear anything about that specifically
- 8:50Speaker 5: from the fans.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I meant people are excited.
- 8:54Speaker 5: I'm glad that they're excited and they come out and
- 8:55Speaker 5: it's it's a good environment. We had a bunch of
- 8:58Speaker 5: fans in the stadium on Friday. That'd be a bunch
- 9:01Speaker 5: up there today. They heard you guys were coming.
- 9:03Speaker 4: They did, Yeah, they did tweet.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I hooked up with your boy Frank. You ever interview
- 9:10Speaker 2: Frank the Tank? Yeah? Yeah, how smart?
- 9:14Speaker 4: He's an encyclopedia.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I mean it was like just couth.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Times you're walking, You're like where you know, where might
- 9:19Speaker 4: this go?
- 9:20Speaker 2: We just talked sports.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah, he is an encyclopedia.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Knew everything about all the about the ages that I
- 9:26Speaker 2: grew up in brown back then.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Every crazy everything that was fun.
- 9:33Speaker 2: What else? Kids? Everybody good?
- 9:34Speaker 4: Everybody's great. Man, everybody's great. You've done what you've done?
- 9:38Speaker 2: It too? Or how many more? We haven't.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Uh, we're up in the air right now. But we're
- 9:42Speaker 4: open to a third one. We're open to a third one.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I was the La Wan crew. Do you guys go
- 9:45Speaker 2: to Canada?
- 9:46Speaker 1: Went to Canada? Just got back on the twenty first win.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Willow turned eight and five. So when does wash Harry
- 9:52Speaker 1: Potter for the first time? Yesterday before we gotten the plane.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What's that maker set? Third grade? Yeah?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Third well, second grade.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Second grade?
- 10:00Speaker 5: Hold back, held her back, the little one, little wand brain.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Starts reading a little bit.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I said, I think to myself, and you know what,
- 10:06Speaker 1: we're gonna do you the favor that never happened for me,
- 10:08Speaker 1: and we're gonna hold you back a little bit.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Good get you there.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it's tough. Because you risk you go again.
- 10:14Speaker 4: You get three girls. It's Tony Do Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 4: and he's.
- 10:20Speaker 1: The guy that chased. He was obviously chasing the boy
- 10:23Speaker 1: got the twos.
- 10:23Speaker 2: We'll do one more. Yeah, we'll have a little football player,
- 10:26Speaker 2: okay or not?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah and again yeah, kids, just get it right like
- 10:29Speaker 1: you did the first time and second.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Time and the second time. The boys. Tyler's actually a
- 10:33Speaker 2: BC helping out O line in turn.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you helped out in the spring and then
- 10:38Speaker 5: they asked him to come back help for the season.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So he's grinding, figuring out that figuring out the old
- 10:44Speaker 2: uh grind.
- 10:46Speaker 5: Yeah, like just the whole like you know, when you play,
- 10:49Speaker 5: you you don't worry about you see the diagrams, right,
- 10:52Speaker 5: you don't realize where those run diagrams came from or
- 10:54Speaker 5: where the defense?
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah right. And so it's on visio and he's like that.
- 10:59Speaker 5: The first time I said, hey, all the film all
- 11:01Speaker 5: these cards on visio, he goes, I was there for
- 11:04Speaker 5: four hours. I think I got three cards done. He's like,
- 11:06Speaker 5: there's got to be a better way for this. And
- 11:08Speaker 5: then he figured it out, and you know, and then
- 11:10Speaker 5: Carter's back in Nashville.
- 11:13Speaker 2: How often is Tyler looking for a job? What is
- 11:17Speaker 2: he doing? He looks looking for a job.
- 11:19Speaker 5: He graduated from Tennessee Tech, played baseball, and uh is
- 11:23Speaker 5: looking for a job.
- 11:24Speaker 2: The pats. No, he's not coming. He's not leaving Nashville.
- 11:27Speaker 1: He's not saying you.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Know, he ain't trying to get No.
- 11:31Speaker 2: He he loves Nashville. He killed me up here for
- 11:34Speaker 2: the games. But he just a room.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He went for a summer and was like hanging out.
- 11:37Speaker 1: He would it was awesome.
- 11:39Speaker 2: He know, he's passed chasing jocks around everything else, laundry.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Is Tyler?
- 11:44Speaker 4: Does he pick your brain a lot on the.
- 11:46Speaker 2: You know, he was asking about coverages.
- 11:48Speaker 5: As an offensive lineman, I think as a young one,
- 11:51Speaker 5: you don't really worry too much about coverage, and now
- 11:53Speaker 5: that he's drawing cards, he just wants to know, you know,
- 11:55Speaker 5: coverages and rotation and whether the week's safety is down
- 11:58Speaker 5: or the week's safeties suring. Is he outside the end?
- 12:01Speaker 5: You know, all the things that we would talk about.
- 12:05Speaker 5: You know, I think he's just understanding the game. I
- 12:07Speaker 5: think he's excited about helping young players. He was a
- 12:09Speaker 5: developmental player and so he's like, I get to work
- 12:13Speaker 5: with the threes. There's some young guys that I think
- 12:16Speaker 5: have potential, So I think that there's some excitement there
- 12:19Speaker 5: from from helping those guys.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Does he want to coach coach with you one day?
- 12:23Speaker 5: I don't know about that, you know, I mean, I
- 12:24Speaker 5: just I think he wants to see if he wants
- 12:26Speaker 5: to coach and if he's willing to go on this journey.
- 12:29Speaker 1: What was the conversation like with him, because I was
- 12:31Speaker 1: before before we're going, I was trying to catch up
- 12:33Speaker 1: on what he was up to. Huh, And I just
- 12:35Speaker 1: saw that July thirtieth, he was on injury reserve in
- 12:37Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, I assumed, like, okay, he's out.
- 12:39Speaker 5: So he and Tyler just decided that he didn't want
- 12:42Speaker 5: to do to practice squad again. That had been his,
- 12:45Speaker 5: you know, his decision, and again I that's that was
- 12:48Speaker 5: his path, and I think he realized that he you know,
- 12:53Speaker 5: missed football, loved football, wanted to be around it, and
- 12:57Speaker 5: finished his degree and in the process of doing that
- 13:00Speaker 5: helped out in the spring, and then you know, they
- 13:03Speaker 5: asked him to come back for the season.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Was there any type of conversation between you and him
- 13:06Speaker 1: where you're like, yeah, I know, you don't want to
- 13:07Speaker 1: the practice squad again.
- 13:08Speaker 2: There was there was like a coach and a dad conversation.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Gotta wear different hats. I'm sure that was a tough
- 13:14Speaker 1: for you to go back and forth.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Well it wasn't. I think a while ago it had.
- 13:17Speaker 5: I mean, I told you there were some things that
- 13:19Speaker 5: I regretted, you know, growing up when they were growing up.
- 13:22Speaker 5: There was things that I regretted the way that I
- 13:24Speaker 5: handled it and was, you know, borderline embarrassed with things that,
- 13:29Speaker 5: you know, just not being able to differentiate the coach
- 13:34Speaker 5: and the being demanding. And then Dad and so, by
- 13:39Speaker 5: the grace of God, got past that and had another opportunity,
- 13:41Speaker 5: and so it was a good conversation. It was, Hey,
- 13:44Speaker 5: here's what I would say to you as from a
- 13:46Speaker 5: coaching perspective.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Here's what I would say to you as a dad.
- 13:49Speaker 5: And so he made his decision and I think he's
- 13:53Speaker 5: really happy about it, and uh, you know see where
- 13:57Speaker 5: this goes. This coaching thing goes for him. Yeah, like
- 14:00Speaker 5: Tyler dude, Oh he don't, Yeah, he's harmless.
- 14:03Speaker 2: The other one the.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna catch fire here.
- 14:08Speaker 5: So plenty of ink and there you know. I mean
- 14:10Speaker 5: they they love the ink guy. I mean they could
- 14:12Speaker 5: thank Taylor for for hooking him up. Joey, Right, joe
- 14:15Speaker 5: here's in town this past week.
- 14:17Speaker 6: He is right.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Anytime Joey's in town, I feel like Carter's over there.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So at first it was I think you were like, hey,
- 14:23Speaker 1: Carter wants to get some mank you got a guy.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He comes in right, So we kind of got them
- 14:26Speaker 1: hooked up, and then eventually it became Joey text me
- 14:29Speaker 1: and be like, Hey, I'm coming into Nashville for a weekend.
- 14:31Speaker 2: What you're doing here is like Tyler had him come
- 14:32Speaker 2: to Atlanta too for a couple of guys.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Like, yeah, Joey's just out there doing mercenary work for
- 14:37Speaker 1: other guys.
- 14:39Speaker 4: I got a question for you. You are you're big
- 14:43Speaker 4: on culture and painting a clear vision, whether it's a
- 14:46Speaker 4: weekly game plan or whether you're coming in for the
- 14:48Speaker 4: first time as a head coach and kind of painting
- 14:50Speaker 4: how the organization is going to be. What is the
- 14:52Speaker 4: best advice you've received on building culture, whether you've been
- 14:55Speaker 4: a fly on the wall witnessing something, or you've kind
- 14:58Speaker 4: of learned in conversation with the former Code.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Uh, here's what I've learned.
- 15:03Speaker 5: I've learned that we can have different personalities, we can't
- 15:07Speaker 5: have different mentalities, and sometimes what's that buddy, that's a bar?
- 15:13Speaker 5: I just sometimes get caught up that we don't that
- 15:16Speaker 5: that people may be different than me. I think I
- 15:18Speaker 5: struggled with that early on, and and now I've realized
- 15:21Speaker 5: that if the mentality is the same how they maybe
- 15:26Speaker 5: act off the field or what their personality is, or
- 15:28Speaker 5: they may not be you know, I would say that
- 15:30Speaker 5: we all kind of have this similar personality right pretty close,
- 15:35Speaker 5: but there's a lot of people and players that are
- 15:37Speaker 5: successful that don't. And I have to be okay with
- 15:39Speaker 5: that if ultimately their mentality is about the culture that
- 15:44Speaker 5: that we want to have here, And I think that's
- 15:45Speaker 5: what I've learned.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Would you say that's what you've learned, is that growing
- 15:49Speaker 4: pace as a head coach is that more earlier in
- 15:51Speaker 4: your assistant coaching.
- 15:53Speaker 5: No, I mean I think as a head like as
- 15:55Speaker 5: a head coach, right, whether it's you know, just players
- 15:59Speaker 5: that have different persons now he's but still got their
- 16:01Speaker 5: job done and did it the way that we asked
- 16:02Speaker 5: them to do it. You have to be okay with
- 16:06Speaker 5: you know kind of what their vibe is just walking
- 16:10Speaker 5: around let them. Yeah, they got to be them.
- 16:13Speaker 4: You excited to have CARDI be a couple of games
- 16:14Speaker 4: this year.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I don't know. I thought that. I don't know. I
- 16:17Speaker 2: haven't seen her yet. I haven't. Well, I'm sure we'll double.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Sure you are Friday out there.
- 16:28Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 16:29Speaker 1: There's a level of excitement when you heard one of
- 16:30Speaker 1: your players dating a famous lady, like, oh, we have
- 16:33Speaker 1: our own Taylor Swift.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Now, yeah, I guess so, I mean, I don't you know,
- 16:37Speaker 2: I don't you.
- 16:39Speaker 1: See the revenue from this past year sixteen billion extra
- 16:42Speaker 1: in revenue. Yeah, and I started trending upwards in Kansas City.
- 16:45Speaker 2: When you know, I don't know. I mean, I'll see that.
- 16:48Speaker 5: I mean I try to meet everybody's family that comes,
- 16:50Speaker 5: and a lot of people come out.
- 16:51Speaker 2: If she's here, I'll say hi. I don't see how
- 16:54Speaker 2: that goes fair enough?
- 16:55Speaker 1: You there was a big we talked about this on
- 16:59Speaker 1: the podcast. Is twenty eighteen Rapes was a lot different
- 17:02Speaker 1: than twenty twenty two rapes. What vrabel are? You are
- 17:06Speaker 1: the Newland Patriots players getting are like because you go
- 17:08Speaker 1: walk into a place that has those banners on the Wallay.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Somewhere between those two.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I think you just learn and again
- 17:17Speaker 5: you're just trying to set things and make sure that
- 17:22Speaker 5: again there's there's an individual role that the players trying
- 17:26Speaker 5: to create, and then there's the the idea of building
- 17:29Speaker 5: a team, and I have to try to combine those two, right,
- 17:32Speaker 5: So do you evaluate treatment and culture those things like
- 17:35Speaker 5: if you.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Walked in the Titans facility and the culture was very
- 17:38Speaker 1: like all over the place, very sporadic. We didn't really
- 17:40Speaker 1: have an identity of who we were when you walked
- 17:42Speaker 1: into here, was there? Like, did you get the same
- 17:44Speaker 1: sense of like culture?
- 17:46Speaker 2: I needed to.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I felt like it was important to make sure that
- 17:49Speaker 5: all those systems and the programs and everybody around the
- 17:53Speaker 5: players was sound, right, that that was there was a
- 17:56Speaker 5: structure there, that the support systems was sound and cleaned up.
- 18:01Speaker 5: And then we focused on the players, you know, because
- 18:04Speaker 5: the players aren't.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Around in February.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Everybody's gone, so it's like operations and and video and
- 18:10Speaker 5: equipment and training and player engagement, all these things that
- 18:15Speaker 5: were set up that I wanted the players when they
- 18:17Speaker 5: came back that they were you know, they were they
- 18:20Speaker 5: liked what they saw. They believed in the program that
- 18:23Speaker 5: we were building. And then and then now we're we're
- 18:26Speaker 5: focused on the on the football side of it.
- 18:27Speaker 1: When you're going and you get the call and you're like,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna be the head coach of the New England Patriots.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Were you essentially like Ron Bergen getting the band back
- 18:35Speaker 1: together when you went and got stretched and Frank and
- 18:36Speaker 1: all the boys popping up, rolled over, rolling.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Over, and I was, you know, some of those guys
- 18:46Speaker 5: you can get. Some of them you can't. Some guys
- 18:48Speaker 5: are under contract. But again, those people are important to
- 18:54Speaker 5: me and I hope to the players we had.
- 18:56Speaker 2: They were part of our success.
- 18:58Speaker 5: And certainly, you know Stretches, he already has had a
- 19:02Speaker 5: feature article in the Boston Globe.
- 19:05Speaker 2: There's another one coming down the pipe. I heard.
- 19:10Speaker 1: He's starting to feel himself a little bit right next
- 19:13Speaker 1: to yours. He's looking for a window.
- 19:15Speaker 5: He's getting a window. We're building a new building. You
- 19:17Speaker 5: got a window next door.
- 19:18Speaker 1: That article came out.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Those are his demands, but no, he's he's, uh, you
- 19:22Speaker 5: know how important Stretches and the best you know, Frank
- 19:26Speaker 5: and and and Ryan and all the assistant coaches were
- 19:29Speaker 5: able to get Big Tea and Hass. I think Hass
- 19:33Speaker 5: does a fantastic job. The old line room has got
- 19:35Speaker 5: three good coaches in there. So just trying to give
- 19:38Speaker 5: the players everything that they need. And you know, we're
- 19:40Speaker 5: big on connection and we think that's important and and
- 19:43Speaker 5: hopefully we can continue to do that.
- 19:45Speaker 4: How about Bob Splaine, Bobby getting another stint with Bobsplaine,
- 19:51Speaker 4: him being undrafted.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I told him the other day. I told him the
- 19:54Speaker 2: other day.
- 19:54Speaker 5: I was like, I said, after you knocked the ship
- 19:57Speaker 5: out of Derek, I said, if.
- 19:58Speaker 2: You stop hitting. He's like, what do you tell you?
- 20:01Speaker 2: Get serious?
- 20:02Speaker 5: You remember when he smoked Derek on and so then
- 20:06Speaker 5: I was like, actually smoked Derek. I said, you haven't
- 20:08Speaker 5: hit anybody since then. He's like, what do you I
- 20:11Speaker 5: was like, dude, I said, you're too easy man, just
- 20:13Speaker 5: for that because I was just He's like, you try
- 20:15Speaker 5: to get my blood.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Pressure on all the time.
- 20:19Speaker 4: But that's been awesome to see he signed what like
- 20:21Speaker 4: a thirty three million dollars deal.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean everybody's got their own journey to the
- 20:25Speaker 5: National Football League and.
- 20:27Speaker 2: You've used Yeah, we don't care how you got here.
- 20:30Speaker 2: All we came about is what you do when you're here.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I cut your aspect.
- 20:35Speaker 5: It was a rookie mini camp tryout. Yeah, and those
- 20:38Speaker 5: are like you're doing those. It's like favors, Like get
- 20:41Speaker 5: the guy a hat and a T shirt and send
- 20:43Speaker 5: him on his way.
- 20:43Speaker 2: And now here he is.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Just came in doing his thing. Contract got Harold. Who
- 20:48Speaker 1: is Jack?
- 20:49Speaker 2: Doctor Gibbons, doctor doctor Gibby.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Yeah, what's crazy? Now we have a Gibson and a Gibbons.
- 20:55Speaker 5: We have Antonio Gibson. So it's Gibby and doctor Gibby.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Jack's got the doctors. Get every answer in the book that.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You Every year around this time you pop up a
- 21:10Speaker 1: film this ship that gets you beat film from the
- 21:12Speaker 1: year prior. What are like three or four key plays
- 21:14Speaker 1: you saw on last season that you pull up in
- 21:17Speaker 1: the screen. You're like, guys, this is the ship that
- 21:19Speaker 1: gets you beat.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Oh, not being able to take advantage of bad football, right,
- 21:25Speaker 5: two minute execution, those are big ones.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Guys throwing the ball to the.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Official, you know, celebrating after a gain as the clocks
- 21:33Speaker 5: ticking and you're thirty yards from field goal range, ball security, right,
- 21:39Speaker 5: all those things. I mean, it's the same stuff. It
- 21:41Speaker 5: is the same, the same stuff. Just try to build
- 21:44Speaker 5: an identity around our effort in a way that we finish,
- 21:49Speaker 5: you know, I think Taylor will remember it's hard to
- 21:51Speaker 5: finish when you're looking back for the ball or you're
- 21:54Speaker 5: directing traffic and all those things.
- 21:55Speaker 2: We talk about it.
- 21:58Speaker 5: But taking care of the football right, being able to
- 22:01Speaker 5: take care of football. I still think fundamentals are important.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I think technique is important, offensive lines of technical position,
- 22:11Speaker 5: you know, and then again, whether it's don't do dumb
- 22:14Speaker 5: shit to hurt the team or a softer, gentler version
- 22:17Speaker 5: is making great decisions on and off the field.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:21Speaker 5: We had some opportunities to have a scrimmage on Friday.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Guys got excited, you know, taunting three fifteen yards, pointing
- 22:30Speaker 5: in somebody's face, you know, throwing the guns up, all
- 22:33Speaker 5: that stuff, just things that you know, it would just
- 22:39Speaker 5: it's hard to be that good for all that stuff
- 22:41Speaker 5: to not matter. That stuff has to matter, and we'll
- 22:46Speaker 5: get there. I'm confident that we will.
- 22:48Speaker 4: There's always some good Friday tape.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Yeah, we're not there yet. We're so far from Friday tape,
- 22:54Speaker 5: just because you know, we're at the ground floor yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 5: you know, we'll break out. The first one, we we
- 23:01Speaker 5: did have a good meeting.
- 23:02Speaker 2: We split the teams up.
- 23:03Speaker 5: We had a draft, and we put together like a
- 23:09Speaker 5: draft reveal, right for this scrimmage off Friday night. We
- 23:12Speaker 5: had like a draft reveal. So we split the coaches up,
- 23:14Speaker 5: had two separate head coaches. They drafted stretching. I were
- 23:17Speaker 5: like the commissioners of the draft, and then they had
- 23:20Speaker 5: we put all these funny pictures of these guys from
- 23:22Speaker 5: high school and all this other stuff. And I was
- 23:24Speaker 5: like Johnny Carson going through like on the reveal, and
- 23:27Speaker 5: they had the draft music, and I mean, the guys
- 23:29Speaker 5: had fun like something. Remember when you didn't know if
- 23:32Speaker 5: I was like joking or not joking. So I would
- 23:35Speaker 5: be like, you can laugh.
- 23:36Speaker 2: It's like we're still at the stage.
- 23:41Speaker 5: We're still there where I'm like that if it's funny, laugh,
- 23:44Speaker 5: And I mean I kind of go back and forth
- 23:46Speaker 5: and they're not sure when I go to the joke,
- 23:50Speaker 5: so I let it loose.
- 23:51Speaker 2: The other day, a lot of laughs.
- 23:53Speaker 4: And it was because you'll be caught in the middle
- 23:56Speaker 4: of a you're breaking down film and team meetings and
- 23:59Speaker 4: your roast, and then it's like you know, you're like
- 24:01Speaker 4: holding in your laughter because like this is a serious moment.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Then when you throw a joke, it's like, yeah, then
- 24:06Speaker 4: laugh right.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Because you will. You do like to flip on a
- 24:12Speaker 1: dime on a swim, Right, you'd be like, Taylor, what
- 24:19Speaker 1: were we doing here? We pay you how much? I'm like,
- 24:20Speaker 1: this is awful. You're terrible and everyone terrible, and you'll
- 24:26Speaker 1: be like saying all these things. You'll be like doing
- 24:28Speaker 1: your podcast with your boy will right, Well, yeah, what
- 24:34Speaker 1: do we what are we doing? So you get it's
- 24:37Speaker 1: a it's it's a process. It's a process.
- 24:39Speaker 2: How many shows are you guys traveling a lot? Oh?
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Where were you before this?
- 24:45Speaker 4: So we had some time off.
- 24:47Speaker 1: We we knocked out tight ending you at the last
- 24:49Speaker 1: week of gym, and so then I went to Canada.
- 24:51Speaker 2: You guys were basically the ball boys for that thing.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Weren't you run around? Yeah? Whatever they needed.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Water, No job too big, no job too small.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Wow.
- 25:02Speaker 5: I mean it just looked like, I mean, every every
- 25:05Speaker 5: clip you guys were there like with water towels.
- 25:08Speaker 2: It was hot.
- 25:09Speaker 4: We're there to serve, man.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I looked like it you were serving. We're giving back
- 25:13Speaker 2: to the youth ball washing.
- 25:17Speaker 4: You said, Taylor, so is gonna be there here?
- 25:19Speaker 1: We can we can we hang out, we can hang up,
- 25:21Speaker 1: we can.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Open we can sure, we'll go cameras there. Okay, good?
- 25:25Speaker 4: Can we bring Yeah?
- 25:28Speaker 2: And then what other teams you've been to? Any other teams?
- 25:31Speaker 4: You're first one.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Then we got made the voyage. Uh, this is it
- 25:34Speaker 2: Virgin territory.
- 25:36Speaker 4: He was always once. Once you got hired, it was circled.
- 25:38Speaker 4: We gotta get it.
- 25:39Speaker 5: It's funny back up, like all you have to do
- 25:44Speaker 5: is just text daddy.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I'll text you back. Whether you guys can come, that's jokes.
- 25:50Speaker 4: But we met the draft. We we texted or we
- 25:53Speaker 4: met Victoria out at the draft. She was awesome, Veronica. Oh, Veronica,
- 25:56Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 25:57Speaker 2: That was.
- 25:59Speaker 1: It's our Hey, you're gonna you're gonna muscle through that.
- 26:02Speaker 1: But we met them at the draft and they were
- 26:03Speaker 1: really excited. They were obviously seemed like you may have
- 26:05Speaker 1: been talking about saying some nice things.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So we were like, I showed that clip.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Where will you showed them the clip that I sent
- 26:13Speaker 5: about the cost fumble on the goal line?
- 26:15Speaker 4: Oh?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I told him about it.
- 26:17Speaker 4: I didn't run a meeting and show them. I wanted to,
- 26:19Speaker 4: but you showed the team.
- 26:20Speaker 2: No, I didn't show the team though.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You showed any man reaches. Yeah, man reaches from like.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I don't know, like we had a POD's drill in there.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, probably not good then yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Oh you know what, it showed a fit drill and
- 26:33Speaker 5: and you got over extended and you got jerked.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Remember the FID drill though rock set.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Which we can be honest with you now that we're
- 26:39Speaker 1: on the other side. Yeah, I think that's a dumb drill.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I don't. I think the past is good, right because.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Again you're staying level. I'm never in the special.
- 26:49Speaker 5: No, you're talking about not on the not on the cutoff,
- 26:52Speaker 5: not on like just the rock set right where we
- 26:55Speaker 5: snap out.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Also also a dumb drill.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Again because you got over extend ended and then got jerked.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It wasn't a dumb drill. Its bad techniques because if
- 27:03Speaker 2: you and I are.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Both going at each other, we're going and we're fitting
- 27:06Speaker 1: and then we're setting. But they already know what's happening,
- 27:09Speaker 1: and then as soon as I say it.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Right, but I didn't say get over extended, didn't get
- 27:12Speaker 2: no shoulders out over the.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Create hands and side.
- 27:18Speaker 2: The jerk and the transition, and you on my you
- 27:20Speaker 2: on my base to be a little wit. But yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 2: a little bit more of a yeah you were kind
- 27:24Speaker 2: of not over your skis over.
- 27:26Speaker 1: But you did show did you show any man reaches?
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean, I think we showed you could do this?
- 27:32Speaker 2: You did? Yeah, a couple of pools out on the corner.
- 27:42Speaker 5: His highlights were like talking ship to a corner back
- 27:45Speaker 5: that was thirty five years old. Yeah, run it again,
- 27:48Speaker 5: tell her we can only run so many toss cracks.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Again. I don't know how you get on the corner. Sorry,
- 27:52Speaker 2: I don't know how you get on the corner. Truck
- 27:56Speaker 2: get over. We're going to get you on the task.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Many times. You have to walk the end a couple
- 28:00Speaker 2: of times.
- 28:01Speaker 1: No, no, it's not left. Yeah. All I loved it
- 28:06Speaker 1: perimeter playing man, It was just fun to kind of
- 28:08Speaker 1: be out there feel like an athlete for a little bit.
- 28:10Speaker 4: It was nice.
- 28:12Speaker 5: What have you seen from remember that the tie Sambrello
- 28:14Speaker 5: four I cut off. I was like, this is how
- 28:16Speaker 5: we're supposed to do it. Everybody actually great on the four.
- 28:20Speaker 5: I know, great on the four. I So we're showing
- 28:22Speaker 5: some of that. We showed you on the backside. Thanks
- 28:25Speaker 5: getting vertical. You know, Cincinnati stretch cut behind you.
- 28:29Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, you know you just I just don't
- 28:32Speaker 2: call you and tell you every time.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You just hope you made enough.
- 28:35Speaker 5: Showed Will Slice in the seven clinic tape.
- 28:42Speaker 1: He didn't think to catch the ball playing slice in
- 28:45Speaker 1: the seven real quick for the viewers that are sitting.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Here just transitioning out job, we were mugged up too.
- 28:49Speaker 4: We were down to the line of scrimmage and they
- 28:51Speaker 4: had you know, it was double double near a gun
- 28:53Speaker 4: or weeks side side and running back went flat. So
- 28:57Speaker 4: you just know, is about the run of seven round
- 28:59Speaker 4: we're in ot we're trying to make We're trying to
- 29:01Speaker 4: win this game. Yeah, third down and around the sticks.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Once I saw the flat rode, I'm like, oh, I'm
- 29:05Speaker 4: going to slice up under Sam Inside, I'm trying to
- 29:07Speaker 4: go through the low hip to slice underneath the tight end.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Slice it.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Ball hits me in the hands, I drop it. However,
- 29:12Speaker 4: third down we're off the field, we go down. Corey
- 29:16Speaker 4: Davis catches a touchdown.
- 29:17Speaker 2: We all celebrate in the corner for.
- 29:19Speaker 1: The Yeah, the boys.
- 29:23Speaker 2: That was crazy. Yeah, that game.
- 29:24Speaker 1: What you need to do Mitch on that clip is
- 29:26Speaker 1: you just need to have it on faces he was
- 29:29Speaker 1: talking because you could just see the smile. Will Is
- 29:31Speaker 1: explaining the tires. Yeah, proud, very proud.
- 29:35Speaker 2: But we had You've.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Heard the story of his his recruiting trip, right, we
- 29:39Speaker 5: had breakfast at the hotel, and then we basically did
- 29:42Speaker 5: the deal I was thinking about. You know, we basically
- 29:45Speaker 5: negotiated that contract over breakfast, me and you an agent, right, yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 5: but it just it wasn't a very big contract.
- 29:54Speaker 4: That was the most the most I had in my
- 29:56Speaker 4: career though.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so that was bad season.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you were thrown out. Nichols was in the first round.
- 30:03Speaker 4: I'm sitting at a bar in German Town. I'm like,
- 30:05Speaker 4: fuck me, yeah, yeah, I don't know what time.
- 30:08Speaker 1: It is going back to the draft. Ye, and I'm
- 30:11Speaker 1: sure I'll get a very probably, Yeah, I'll get the
- 30:15Speaker 1: answer we're probably all expecting to get.
- 30:17Speaker 2: When the A. J.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Brown trade happened. Yeah, there you see the video, you
- 30:20Speaker 1: see you stand.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Up, I mean listen that that is.
- 30:24Speaker 1: But also before as long as I'm the head coach
- 30:26Speaker 1: of this team major.
- 30:27Speaker 5: But I didn't want to obviously, nobody wanted to have
- 30:31Speaker 5: him walk out of there, you know, I mean the
- 30:32Speaker 5: contractual terms weren't going to you know, it just it
- 30:35Speaker 5: didn't work out, and it's disappointing.
- 30:38Speaker 2: The thing that I am most proud.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Of is just still the relationship with AJ and players
- 30:43Speaker 5: that I've coached, whether it be you guys or or
- 30:47Speaker 5: other players that you know, continue to to text or
- 30:51Speaker 5: check in on or just think about when they're in
- 30:54Speaker 5: the summer or what they're doing, or their families or
- 30:56Speaker 5: you see that they're having kids. Like I think that's
- 30:59Speaker 5: that's important, and I'm glad that that's still something that
- 31:04Speaker 5: that that happens, right, that there's still some sort of
- 31:06Speaker 5: relationship after, you know, after coaching them.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Allegedly, there's some footage out there of Will Campbell. You're
- 31:19Speaker 4: getting put on your back from a Will Campbell.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Happened.
- 31:25Speaker 5: I mean, I'm almost fifty, I'll be fifty, and I
- 31:27Speaker 5: don't know, twelve days, ten days.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Did you expect that though?
- 31:31Speaker 2: No?
- 31:32Speaker 5: I just you know, I mean it was a four eye, right,
- 31:34Speaker 5: I was going into four eye and it was the
- 31:35Speaker 5: backside cut off and he got going and I caught
- 31:38Speaker 5: my foot. I didn't get my second step in the ground,
- 31:40Speaker 5: Like what am I gonna do. I'll back up like
- 31:43Speaker 5: we were getting knocked out.
- 31:44Speaker 2: I loved it too. Did you sad that I loved it?
- 31:47Speaker 2: I just was like, that was a good rap. But
- 31:48Speaker 2: I just, you know, give him a pat. I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 2: get back on the line. Let's go. Yeah, I mean you.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Got to get one back, extra heart on that next one.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I mean, it happened. It's not like he was more.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Three next time. We got to shade it in a little.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Bit, pad back. It's not It's not like, you know,
- 32:08Speaker 2: I was fine. I popped back up. Everybody else thought,
- 32:11Speaker 2: you know what I mean, I thought it was a
- 32:12Speaker 2: bigger deal than I did.
- 32:13Speaker 1: You're seeing a lesser man would have stayed down.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I mean he had never done that to me. Yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 2: you're right. I mean it was a good It was
- 32:23Speaker 2: a good block.
- 32:23Speaker 5: He got into it, got the backhand and the stern
- 32:26Speaker 5: him and I didn't get my second stuff on the ground,
- 32:28Speaker 5: and I asked over tea kettle.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like six seven yards.
- 32:32Speaker 2: It was.
- 32:32Speaker 1: It was awesome to see. We need that clip.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Have you seen it? He showed it to us, But
- 32:37Speaker 2: Will showed you at the clip, somebody.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He showed you haven't seen anything.
- 32:43Speaker 2: He has it on his phone. We haven't seen JP.
- 32:48Speaker 2: He was probably all gassed up. I'll get him back,
- 32:50Speaker 2: don't worry.
- 32:51Speaker 1: That's what I'm afraid.
- 32:52Speaker 2: He was. He where's it? Will He was, gasp, he's
- 32:58Speaker 2: a boys.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Once I get done with this little a two minutes you,
- 33:01Speaker 4: I'm Sorry'm laying it all out there. Willie. Well, he said,
- 33:03Speaker 4: once I get done, I gotta show you guys a
- 33:04Speaker 4: clip that I think you'll enjoy it.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And he hit me over there.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I was like, I'm gonna start to walk out, and
- 33:09Speaker 1: we're like, hey, you said you had a clip for us, Like,
- 33:11Speaker 1: oh yeah, I'm like, I don't him over How are
- 33:18Speaker 1: you trying to get it out?
- 33:19Speaker 2: Man?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Come in?
- 33:21Speaker 2: They laid it on the line. They laid it on
- 33:23Speaker 2: the line for me. I gotta go on the show.
- 33:26Speaker 2: You got to come on the show.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah, have fun.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I just wanted to. Oh you don't want to? Oh, okay,
- 33:36Speaker 2: that's fine. We only have for I think we Stacey's
- 33:41Speaker 2: got the time limit. It's time.
- 33:43Speaker 4: How about Tory at the time we have uh, Veronica,
- 33:48Speaker 4: come on, sorry.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I got I got local medium bud light.
- 33:53Speaker 4: You know how everybody, anybody would do anything for a
- 33:55Speaker 4: bud light, a nice cold bud light. What would coach for.
- 33:58Speaker 2: A no free shout out?
- 34:00Speaker 4: What would coach Rable do anything for?
- 34:04Speaker 5: I can't say family, can't say family. I mean obviously
- 34:08Speaker 5: another banner up there, Like, that's what you do.
- 34:11Speaker 4: For that banner.
- 34:12Speaker 2: We've we've discussed this already.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Well yeah, but what else?
- 34:18Speaker 2: What else would I do? Yeah? For the banner, I'm
- 34:21Speaker 2: gonna work every day. I meant cutting off any more appendages,
- 34:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 34:27Speaker 5: Like, that's that's why we're doing this, you know, other
- 34:30Speaker 5: than to provide for our families, it's to to win championships.
- 34:34Speaker 5: Like you guys know this spiel. We've been through this.
- 34:37Speaker 5: You guys are trained. You guys are trained.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Rats.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Would you cut it?
- 34:41Speaker 4: He already said on the second one, he's well.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because we went to the AMC Championship.
- 34:46Speaker 5: When he said, that's it, boys, I want an honest
- 34:48Speaker 5: evaluation of practice.
- 34:50Speaker 2: What I gotta gotta Can I tell you something?
- 34:52Speaker 5: I want an honest evaluation of practice. Obviously, and if
- 34:55Speaker 5: I'm missing anything, let me know.
- 34:57Speaker 4: You know, obviously you got to create the evidence and
- 35:00Speaker 4: build the legacy and everything else. But I'm legitimately so
- 35:04Speaker 4: juiced that you were the head coach of the Patriots
- 35:07Speaker 4: just because you were a hell of a player at
- 35:08Speaker 4: Ohio State. You're a health of player in the league
- 35:10Speaker 4: with the three banners and the three Super Bowls. And
- 35:12Speaker 4: I hope, I hope, hang on, hang on.
- 35:14Speaker 2: This one's for Jin too.
- 35:15Speaker 4: I hope you take time to just have perspective of
- 35:18Speaker 4: how fucking cool.
- 35:20Speaker 5: I appreciate that. I will try to stop and smell
- 35:22Speaker 5: the roses along the way. I hope you guys come
- 35:24Speaker 5: back for a game. Promise, Can I get a Can
- 35:29Speaker 5: I get a headset?
- 35:30Speaker 4: I'll stay out of the way. You have stretches, Okay,
- 35:35Speaker 4: Drake May, welcome the bust with the boys. You know,
- 35:41Speaker 4: keep you set him up, You set it up.
- 35:45Speaker 2: No, okay, Drake May.
- 35:47Speaker 7: What's going on? How you doing hanging in there?
- 35:50Speaker 4: Yeah? Right, Oh dude, we're doing great.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Josh Allen vibes already off the top. I'll be honest
- 35:55Speaker 1: with you. You got a nice little person player. Give
- 36:00Speaker 1: me the team keys when you're talking to the media,
- 36:03Speaker 1: talking to the media, yeah, pervorable team keys.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Yeah, in the media.
- 36:07Speaker 7: Yeah, speak for myself.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yep.
- 36:09Speaker 7: No talking about injuries, that's correct. Don't talking about expectations, right,
- 36:14Speaker 7: don't talk about scheme.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Don't talk about scheme.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Is there another one? You're on it?
- 36:18Speaker 1: You seem like there was one more. I feel like
- 36:20Speaker 1: all of them.
- 36:21Speaker 7: No comparisons is the same. It's kind of expectations comparison,
- 36:24Speaker 7: No comparison thing same one.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, do you see yourself a lot in Josh Allen?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Do you guys think you're very similar? Football players? Both mobile, tall, handsome.
- 36:38Speaker 7: You know the quarterbacks? Uh, you know, he's the m
- 36:40Speaker 7: v P. I think the comparisons are. I got a
- 36:43Speaker 7: lot of work to do, you know, with kind of
- 36:46Speaker 7: even give me in the same you know, stratosphere or
- 36:48Speaker 7: atmosphere as Josh. So luckily in the division, so we
- 36:51Speaker 7: have got some good matchups I'm looking forward to. But really, comparisons,
- 36:55Speaker 7: I'm just trying to be myself and hey, at the
- 36:57Speaker 7: end of the day, some people think that, I mean,
- 37:00Speaker 7: that's a lot of respect for him, But at that
- 37:03Speaker 7: I allow work to do for that.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Let's pivot real quick on the sports though. I'm apologize
- 37:07Speaker 1: for interrupting you. Will you and Josh Allen one on
- 37:11Speaker 1: one pick up basketball? Who's winning that game?
- 37:14Speaker 7: I think myself as a hooping yea and hoops for sure.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Who do you think Josh Allen the night before the
- 37:18Speaker 1: draft was in a YMCA playing pick up basketball.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Did Pat tell you that we have our sources exact time?
- 37:26Speaker 4: What are we talking about?
- 37:27Speaker 1: So Drake the day it was in Detroit? Correct, the
- 37:31Speaker 1: day before he gets drafted first round pick by the
- 37:33Speaker 1: New England Patriots. He's at an indoor gym at a YMCA,
- 37:38Speaker 1: playing pick up basketball with a bunch of gen pop.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Just trying to get war your stats. What was your numbers?
- 37:44Speaker 7: My brothers were in there, so we had some good competition.
- 37:47Speaker 7: But just get the nerves and you're going, you know,
- 37:49Speaker 7: you and the will Yeah, you know kind of being
- 37:52Speaker 7: at the draft.
- 37:54Speaker 6: I'm not sure.
- 37:55Speaker 2: You get nervous.
- 37:56Speaker 1: You get nervous whether you get whether you're there where
- 37:58Speaker 1: the draft's happening or you're sitting at home and doesn't matter.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I was nerds. I have nerds for
- 38:02Speaker 2: three days. Disappointment.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Was there a piece of you ever throughout? Like when
- 38:08Speaker 1: you're going to the draft process of day one hit,
- 38:09Speaker 1: you're like, what if though.
- 38:12Speaker 4: One hundred percent, I want to say Bill Belichick got
- 38:14Speaker 4: some projected guy. He was like in the lower rounds,
- 38:17Speaker 4: and he drafted him in the second round and on
- 38:19Speaker 4: the first on the first night, the Chargers called me
- 38:23Speaker 4: being like I kind of forget what the how the
- 38:25Speaker 4: conversation went, but.
- 38:26Speaker 2: I'm like, maybe I'm a Day two guy.
- 38:28Speaker 1: No ship.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Then they drafted damn man. He was a great player.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I played longer, but he's a great player.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Yeah he had the build though, Yeah he had stirred
- 38:39Speaker 1: on him. Sturdy, were you surprised if the Patriots drafted you.
- 38:43Speaker 7: I think I was just pumped, you know, kind of
- 38:45Speaker 7: the feelings you just want to get drafted somewhere. So
- 38:48Speaker 7: I was really just pumped. I think I knew there
- 38:50Speaker 7: was a chance possibly here. You know what a great
- 38:52Speaker 7: legacy this place has been, and uh hopefully were trying
- 38:55Speaker 7: to get back to that.
- 38:56Speaker 4: What's the first several months been like with coach Rabel?
- 38:59Speaker 7: It's been awesome. I mean, I'll know it's uh it's
- 39:01Speaker 7: hostile now, Oh we know it's awesome. You gotta bring
- 39:04Speaker 7: you gotta bring it and leave it. He goes at
- 39:06Speaker 7: the door. I'm sure, y'all. I'm sure you check y'all
- 39:09Speaker 7: a few times with personalities of y'all two but uh,
- 39:13Speaker 7: I think you know, we watch the old film with
- 39:14Speaker 7: Big Taylor's in there watching Podrell watching you over there.
- 39:17Speaker 4: How was he doing?
- 39:20Speaker 7: I think you may I heard something new.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Know damn you know.
- 39:25Speaker 4: And when Ray was answering the question talking about how
- 39:27Speaker 4: he had to drill up at you and POSEI you
- 39:28Speaker 4: got over leverage, I'm thinking to myself, you know, Rave
- 39:31Speaker 4: was just loving the fact that he could kind of
- 39:32Speaker 4: just body bag you in front of some other.
- 39:34Speaker 1: And the fact it's like that's not for anybody else.
- 39:37Speaker 1: And I know five people on this football team that
- 39:39Speaker 1: was for Raves and Stretch. Yeah, and yeah you kinda laugh, like,
- 39:43Speaker 1: look at that idiot right there.
- 39:44Speaker 7: No sat the first pitch, dude, come on, yeah, bro,
- 39:49Speaker 7: you kind of looked like good forms, like a little
- 39:51Speaker 7: bit of Randy Johnson in.
- 39:52Speaker 2: This Let it go?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Yeah, bring my show.
- 39:55Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Redemption is coming, really, I don't know if we can
- 39:57Speaker 1: say the date yet, but it is this month. I'll
- 39:59Speaker 1: be catching redemption.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Where was that?
- 40:00Speaker 2: What?
- 40:00Speaker 4: God?
- 40:00Speaker 7: Game was that at the Redemption? Another game that you
- 40:03Speaker 7: just threw.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Oh that was in Saint Louis.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Saint Louis.
- 40:06Speaker 1: And Buddy, I'll tell you this nerves No, I was like,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I'm about to rip this. I'm about to throw this
- 40:12Speaker 1: thing high sixties.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah, which was good for me.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And I walked out there. Buddy was standing behind the
- 40:18Speaker 1: mountain just saying I'm gonna rip this thing. He was like,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I didn't even say a word. And then that happened,
- 40:23Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, I'm still in disbelief. Yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 1: and I think I'm like kind of getting the yips
- 40:28Speaker 1: now too, Like I go play catch and like I'll
- 40:30Speaker 1: put a couple in Wolf's chest and then there'll be one. Oh, buddy,
- 40:33Speaker 1: Ill every day really I get, I get to the shop,
- 40:36Speaker 1: we do work, and then I'm like, come play catch
- 40:39Speaker 1: with me.
- 40:40Speaker 7: That's really bad.
- 40:41Speaker 4: So we'll see. We'll see.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Have you ever thrown person?
- 40:43Speaker 7: I thought about throwing curveball or something one time the
- 40:46Speaker 7: first pitch. Yeah, I haven't thrown one, but if I did,
- 40:48Speaker 7: I'll throw a curveball or something.
- 40:49Speaker 8: Baseball guy, grown up, Yeah, baseball.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Guy, you have a whole family of them.
- 40:53Speaker 7: I got a bunch.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I saw one story where it was like, uh, what
- 40:56Speaker 4: was it People magazine? Where your mom would make like
- 40:58Speaker 4: thirty six eggs for you guys would just be a war.
- 41:01Speaker 7: We got some big dudes, some big fellows rolling around.
- 41:03Speaker 7: So a bunch of hooligans.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Who's most athletic in your family?
- 41:06Speaker 7: Think a mom. I'm speaking from a mom.
- 41:09Speaker 1: But you know dad's punching air right now.
- 41:12Speaker 7: He's old and fat now, so.
- 41:14Speaker 4: You give it to yourself over the other brothers.
- 41:16Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, they'd say the same, they would Yeah.
- 41:19Speaker 4: They know what's up or they just pounding the steering
- 41:21Speaker 4: wheel right now as they listen.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Now, my brother is definitely a tune in. My brother's
- 41:24Speaker 7: a big fan of the bust with the boys.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Patrick playing the Tians? I think what was Collins?
- 41:29Speaker 2: There?
- 41:30Speaker 1: Was Pat Collins there?
- 41:30Speaker 7: Yeah, he was there.
- 41:31Speaker 1: We came down just to go meet his brother, just
- 41:34Speaker 1: like because he was that big of a fan of us.
- 41:36Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, I'll go down there for sure.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 41:37Speaker 1: And we met the night that night before at the
- 41:39Speaker 1: Pegle Porker. Yeah you got Troy Nunes exactly.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Yeah, bring it back to Rapes.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I need a pet peeve.
- 41:47Speaker 1: What pisses you off about Mike or how about this?
- 41:49Speaker 2: What uh?
- 41:50Speaker 4: Instead of what pisses you off about Coach Rabel? What
- 41:54Speaker 4: would piss Coach Rabel off about you? Or what would
- 41:58Speaker 4: be a pet peeve of Raves that.
- 41:59Speaker 7: He has a you not celebrating after rescore.
- 42:03Speaker 1: They did go viral, didn't.
- 42:04Speaker 7: Yeah, he just's I agree. I mean it's hard to
- 42:07Speaker 7: getting the end zone.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:08Speaker 7: I think you saw the clip. We didn't score enough
- 42:10Speaker 7: of them last year, so, uh, just getting excited. I
- 42:13Speaker 7: think it's there's so much mental game going on in
- 42:15Speaker 7: the game, you know, in practice playing QB, So just
- 42:18Speaker 7: getting excited when do something good. That's tough, you know.
- 42:21Speaker 7: I think I need to do a bad job of that.
- 42:23Speaker 7: We go through hard to simulate, you know, in practice
- 42:26Speaker 7: when it's actually a real touchdown the game. You know,
- 42:28Speaker 7: it's easy to run down there with the boys, but
- 42:30Speaker 7: you know the old lines gotta run down there, like
- 42:31Speaker 7: oh I got run fifteen yards back.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, tough boys cruising.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Over there exactly celebrating after touchdowns.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I saw you throw a few touchdowns today in the
- 42:42Speaker 1: red zone, and I didn't see you run into the
- 42:45Speaker 1: en zone and celebrate.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 1: So is that a coachable coachability thing or is that
- 42:49Speaker 1: just hey, we're in this is not a team period.
- 42:51Speaker 4: No.
- 42:52Speaker 7: Yeah, it was one on one seven, So I think
- 42:53Speaker 7: he still get some excitement, for sure. What's what were
- 42:56Speaker 7: the things that y'all did back in the day he
- 42:57Speaker 7: got mad at Oh got me?
- 43:00Speaker 4: Yeah, every probably just being on social media, yeah yeah, yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 4: he'd bring up posts every now and then.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 4: There was one time where it was like Darren Bates
- 43:11Speaker 4: was injured and so he was sitting out of walkthrough
- 43:15Speaker 4: and in my brain he was just getting one over.
- 43:17Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, you're just You're just wanting to chill,
- 43:19Speaker 4: like you ain't in that bad of shape. So I
- 43:23Speaker 4: bought this neck brace on Amazon, and then I like
- 43:26Speaker 4: took a video because he had like the yellow jersey on.
- 43:28Speaker 4: I'm telling him, hey, throw this on, throw this boy
- 43:30Speaker 4: the neck brace, and we're kind of busting his balls
- 43:32Speaker 4: in the locker room and I'm videoing it. I put
- 43:34Speaker 4: it up on social and he texted me later that
- 43:36Speaker 4: night and he's like, you think this was smart? And dude,
- 43:40Speaker 4: fear just filled the entire part of my body. And
- 43:43Speaker 4: so I'm sitting there looking on how I should respond
- 43:45Speaker 4: back to Verble kind of like is he kind of
- 43:47Speaker 4: messing with me? Should I like send a joke back
- 43:48Speaker 4: because we all know he's playing like it's all good.
- 43:51Speaker 4: And he put it up in the TV the next day.
- 43:53Speaker 4: My asshole was was tight as.
- 43:56Speaker 1: You walk in that TV room. It's really the first
- 43:58Speaker 1: one when you come act for OTAs because everyone's kind
- 44:02Speaker 1: of done their thing. Maybe he posted something in January.
- 44:04Speaker 1: He knows. John Striker knows, and he will show Mike Rabe.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Yeah he's not. He is on it. He has dialed in.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I think, yeah, he's the OP.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I don't think you understand how much of a win
- 44:15Speaker 1: it is for you guys to have stretch on this
- 44:16Speaker 1: team just yet, like you guys will realize how big
- 44:18Speaker 1: of a win it is to have. But he's definitely
- 44:20Speaker 1: the OP. I had a time Bill O'Brien got fired
- 44:24Speaker 1: from Houston and I was commenting on how I was
- 44:27Speaker 1: like fired up about him getting fired, and Raves like
- 44:31Speaker 1: called me and chewed me out for like five minutes
- 44:33Speaker 1: about how disrespectful that is. And I don't know Bill
- 44:36Speaker 1: and all this stuff, and that was. Walking in the
- 44:37Speaker 1: next day was very difficult.
- 44:39Speaker 2: It was. It was scary, But I.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Saw him the next day he like pat me on
- 44:42Speaker 1: the asid walking down the hallway. So he's kind of
- 44:44Speaker 1: always doing this and you just don't really know what
- 44:48Speaker 1: to do.
- 44:48Speaker 4: He bullies you until he knows you're broken a little bit.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and kind of stepping on egg walking on eggshells.
- 44:54Speaker 4: And then that's when he buddies you up and he's like,
- 44:55Speaker 4: why don't you laugh? And it's a joke.
- 44:56Speaker 2: It's like, well he was, he was.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Sitting here with us before y'all's practice being like, you know,
- 45:01Speaker 1: is they don't know that I'm joking yet and stuff
- 45:03Speaker 1: like that, So you know, I'll tell him. He if
- 45:04Speaker 1: it's funny, you can laugh in the team meeting room.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I'm thinking, we're still there. We've known you since twenty eighteen.
- 45:10Speaker 1: We're still like, Dan, there we have. That's how rape likes.
- 45:15Speaker 7: I saw the clip of you y'all about to fight
- 45:18Speaker 7: in the bus. You like your chances, you.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Think against rape?
- 45:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 45:22Speaker 4: I got too much respect to think that I could
- 45:24Speaker 4: take him.
- 45:25Speaker 2: It's almost like yeah. And then he's a little real
- 45:29Speaker 2: and it's kind.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Of like he's just got the power dynamic of father's son,
- 45:32Speaker 4: you know what I mean. It's like, hey, will do
- 45:34Speaker 4: you think you can whoop your old man? It's like
- 45:35Speaker 4: you just don't. You don't really go there mentally. And
- 45:38Speaker 4: then when he bulks up it's kind of like he's
- 45:40Speaker 4: a long he's a specimen. Hands to scratch his knees
- 45:44Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 45:45Speaker 1: You're saying, you're saying Rape is your daddy right now.
- 45:47Speaker 4: I'm saying he's got that's the type of respect that
- 45:49Speaker 4: I have for him as a father.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I see him as like a father figure.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Yeah. You know, we swapped text in the off season.
- 45:56Speaker 4: He checks on the family and stuff. He's like a
- 45:59Speaker 4: mental mind.
- 46:00Speaker 2: I love that.
- 46:00Speaker 4: So I just appreciate him, you know what I mean.
- 46:03Speaker 4: When he walked up, like, you know, hey, don't get
- 46:05Speaker 4: sensitive on me, Braves.
- 46:06Speaker 9: Like.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Between two of you.
- 46:10Speaker 1: He likes Will a lot more than me. Yeah, he
- 46:12Speaker 1: like I. He I think he definitely views me as
- 46:15Speaker 1: like he coached me really hard when he got there,
- 46:19Speaker 1: and I was like, he'll lighten up eventually, and it
- 46:21Speaker 1: never really happened. And then I like got cut eventually
- 46:24Speaker 1: and it's kind of just not stopped. Will was like
- 46:28Speaker 1: they brought Will in, he was doing the core for
- 46:30Speaker 1: he was like a light and did the Rabel thing
- 46:33Speaker 1: and that went over really well. And then once Will
- 46:35Speaker 1: was out of the building, Rabel was like, that's my guy. Yeah,
- 46:38Speaker 1: I'm I'm Will's buddy, but that Will's Rabe's friend. Does
- 46:44Speaker 1: that make sense?
- 46:46Speaker 4: Taylor was an asset that they needed to produce at
- 46:48Speaker 4: the highest level at all times, so when he get injured,
- 46:51Speaker 4: I'm sure that kind of plays into the psyche of
- 46:53Speaker 4: what his view was of Taylor, Like, I'm an asset,
- 46:56Speaker 4: but I'm more of an asset, like, uh, you know,
- 46:59Speaker 4: like one of those uh.
- 47:00Speaker 1: What was a gester? You know, first off gestures the
- 47:05Speaker 1: people that would entertain the king.
- 47:06Speaker 4: What's the animal that you keep? Then they just give
- 47:09Speaker 4: you good vibes, are there for you?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Golden retriever, no support, emotional, sporting.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Yeah, Like my ass set ability was like being the
- 47:17Speaker 4: support animal in the locker room.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and we'll you know, just Will was a locker
- 47:22Speaker 1: room guy. So Raves would always be like, we're gonna
- 47:25Speaker 1: hold our high or our best players to the highest
- 47:27Speaker 1: standard or whatever. That's like his phrase he always says.
- 47:30Speaker 1: And he would call me in his office, Hey, what's up, Raves.
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'm trying to be buddies, always trying to be buddies. No,
- 47:36Speaker 1: he'd be like, coming here real quick, and he pulled
- 47:37Speaker 1: up some film. We just sit in silence for a
- 47:38Speaker 1: little bit while I play some couple of plays of
- 47:40Speaker 1: me like not doing videos. We hold our best players
- 47:44Speaker 1: to the highest standard. Correct, yes, sir? Is that the
- 47:47Speaker 1: highest standard?
- 47:48Speaker 4: No?
- 47:49Speaker 2: All right?
- 47:49Speaker 1: I need you to play better next week?
- 47:51Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 47:52Speaker 1: And there be games too, I like walk away from
- 47:54Speaker 1: games were like, bro, I that was a game. I
- 47:56Speaker 1: kind of have myself a little I think I have
- 47:58Speaker 1: like four or five players, and I put that guy
- 48:00Speaker 1: the dirt. I was good to protection blah blah blah.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I felt good about it. And as I'm like truly
- 48:04Speaker 1: feeling good about myself, I'm getting a text from Braves
- 48:06Speaker 1: be like, need you to be better next week? And
- 48:08Speaker 1: it was always it was always that Will. I would
- 48:11Speaker 1: I would sit over and watch Will and Braves be like,
- 48:13Speaker 1: how the fuck do I get to that?
- 48:15Speaker 4: I just had to get a couple of tackles on
- 48:16Speaker 4: special Teams or Slice of seven when once a game
- 48:20Speaker 4: or something.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Because when he said here was like, hey man, you're
- 48:22Speaker 1: showing some man reaches. He's should you getting overextended on
- 48:25Speaker 1: on on a play action clips just killing me.
- 48:30Speaker 4: That's kind of the difference in dynamic. But this is
- 48:33Speaker 4: about this podcast. You're doing very well and asking questions
- 48:36Speaker 4: about us now we're getting the five fingers. Take us
- 48:40Speaker 4: through the process last year being thrown into the fire,
- 48:43Speaker 4: because on the outside, it seemed like when you got
- 48:45Speaker 4: drafted you were going to be somebody who was kind
- 48:46Speaker 4: of like maybe groomed in on the sideline throughout the season.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Then the season was going the way it was. You
- 48:51Speaker 4: had coach Mayo, he was he was in his first year.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Then you kind of get thrust in and thrown into
- 48:56Speaker 4: the fire. Was that something that you expected or what
- 48:59Speaker 4: was the learning curve as that decision? Uh was made?
- 49:03Speaker 7: No, I think you know, we had the Texans here
- 49:05Speaker 7: at home, so it was a good in front of
- 49:07Speaker 7: home crowd. You get thrown into the fire. I think
- 49:09Speaker 7: it's something that they're like, man, let's see what I got.
- 49:11Speaker 7: I think it's, uh, you go out there and you
- 49:13Speaker 7: see the Neil Hunter, will Anderson, you know when you
- 49:16Speaker 7: go out there in your first drive and you're like,
- 49:18Speaker 7: this is the NFL.
- 49:19Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Specimens.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Especially Hunter dude.
- 49:23Speaker 7: Yeah, good guys a lot. So I think you know,
- 49:27Speaker 7: from there, I think just ultimately confidence, I think that's
- 49:29Speaker 7: what I think you kind of appreciate yourself. You do
- 49:31Speaker 7: all that practice, to do all this training camp, go
- 49:33Speaker 7: out there and just a lot of bullets. See what
- 49:35Speaker 7: you see what you got, And you know, I think,
- 49:36Speaker 7: you know, the biggest thing is these guys we still
- 49:39Speaker 7: played hard. You know, I think we uh, you know,
- 49:41Speaker 7: we were in some close games and you know, season
- 49:42Speaker 7: didn't go with the way we wanted, But these guys
- 49:44Speaker 7: fought hard. I think, especially those guys up front, they
- 49:46Speaker 7: fought for me hard. And you know, the at least
- 49:48Speaker 7: I do is get back and go out there and compete,
- 49:50Speaker 7: and you'll leave it all out there. So that's my
- 49:52Speaker 7: approach to it, and it's not gonna change.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Was there ever a moment of discouragement during your rookie year, Like,
- 49:58Speaker 4: as you guys are out there and you're performing, whether
- 50:00Speaker 4: up to your standard or not.
- 50:04Speaker 7: You know, once you really hit and I think kind
- 50:07Speaker 7: of the you know, ten losses in the season, you
- 50:09Speaker 7: know it's tough. You got there and you're out there playing.
- 50:12Speaker 7: You probably know in the back of your mind you're
- 50:13Speaker 7: not gonna make the playoffs. You're out there playing a
- 50:16Speaker 7: you know, a gruesome game, and you're out there just battling,
- 50:19Speaker 7: and I think that's really what you're kind of finding
- 50:21Speaker 7: these guys like who can I really go to war with?
- 50:22Speaker 7: And I think that's what, you know, I was trying
- 50:24Speaker 7: to approach it myself, like these guys are gonna see
- 50:27Speaker 7: me am I still competing hard and you know, scrambling
- 50:30Speaker 7: around and trying to make plays or just gonna throw
- 50:33Speaker 7: it in the dirt and keep back up and punt.
- 50:35Speaker 7: And so I think that's kind of is what I
- 50:37Speaker 7: kind of used last year, as you obviously want to
- 50:40Speaker 7: you know, win more games this year, and that's our plan.
- 50:42Speaker 7: So uh, I think everybody feels good now. So it's
- 50:44Speaker 7: it's going into your week one to see you when
- 50:47Speaker 7: the real bullets go times.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Remember that rookie wall when you're sitting there in the
- 50:50Speaker 1: middle of November possibly like walking into December. You know,
- 50:53Speaker 1: you're out of the playoffs, like you said, you're you know,
- 50:55Speaker 1: ten losses, you're probably not gonna pit the playoffs, like
- 50:57Speaker 1: you will not make the playoffs with ten losses. And
- 50:59Speaker 1: you see these guys, you know, you're twenty one years old.
- 51:03Speaker 1: You got these guys that are in their thirties they
- 51:05Speaker 1: kind of know. So you see guys kind of talking
- 51:07Speaker 1: about Cobbos and Lucas all of a sudden, I'm gonna
- 51:09Speaker 1: go over here. What are we doing for a vacation?
- 51:11Speaker 1: Like what was that like from you from like a
- 51:13Speaker 1: just a going from college to NFL.
- 51:15Speaker 7: No, No, it's different. I think even the first thing I
- 51:17Speaker 7: know is these guys got families. You know, it's not
- 51:19Speaker 7: the locker room in college where you're hanging out and
- 51:21Speaker 7: going back to someone's place and you know, watching football. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 7: I think stuff like that. It's more like you're like
- 51:27Speaker 7: your families and you leave here and like I said
- 51:29Speaker 7: that rookie Wall kind of after you know, after the
- 51:32Speaker 7: bowl season, you go straight to training and then you
- 51:34Speaker 7: go straight to the draft preps. So it's a long year,
- 51:36Speaker 7: long years of these rookies. That's what I'm telling these
- 51:38Speaker 7: guys on our team, you know, Will Campbell, those guys,
- 51:40Speaker 7: it's a long year. And I think, you know, from there,
- 51:42Speaker 7: you give up here to Boston. I never been up
- 51:44Speaker 7: here in the North and you get out of meetings
- 51:46Speaker 7: at five o'clock and next thing you know, it's dark
- 51:49Speaker 7: outside and it's fifteen freeze. I think I had a
- 51:51Speaker 7: whole different element of the morbidness up here of the winners.
- 51:55Speaker 7: So I think that's really really right around your teammates
- 51:57Speaker 7: and you know, when you are in the building, try
- 51:59Speaker 7: to make it as you enjoyable as you can. And
- 52:01Speaker 7: I think definitely you see guys not like you said,
- 52:05Speaker 7: not checking out, but no one kind of what's what's
- 52:07Speaker 7: in the end and kind of the light the end
- 52:09Speaker 7: of the tunnel is not you know, looking you know
- 52:10Speaker 7: too bright. I think you can see that in the NFL,
- 52:12Speaker 7: which is you know credit then you guys want to
- 52:14Speaker 7: you have you know, lungevity in the years and you know,
- 52:17Speaker 7: credit their bodies and you know, you can see injuries
- 52:20Speaker 7: is a big part of the game. So there's two
- 52:22Speaker 7: sides too, but hopefully not in that situation.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Yeah, when you got like your routine in your first
- 52:26Speaker 1: year and you hit the wall and everything like that,
- 52:28Speaker 1: what are some changes you're making for yourself and your
- 52:31Speaker 1: in your daily routine during the football season.
- 52:33Speaker 7: Yeah, that's a great question. You know, I think Jakobe
- 52:35Speaker 7: set was someone great for me to learn from, you know,
- 52:38Speaker 7: a veteran this league, playing a bunch of different offenses.
- 52:41Speaker 7: He's the man, you know, just hanging out outside. We
- 52:43Speaker 7: should go to dinner. I think it's different. You got
- 52:45Speaker 7: my wife up here, now in the season, so it'll
- 52:48Speaker 7: be different having her up here. But really just it's
- 52:50Speaker 7: about ball, I think, trying to change, trying to find
- 52:53Speaker 7: what's work, kind of find a rhythm throughout the weeks
- 52:55Speaker 7: and hopefully if you, you know, get w in the
- 52:57Speaker 7: wing column, just try to repeat it. And if not,
- 52:58Speaker 7: you gotta change something where study more, get with the
- 53:01Speaker 7: guys more, do something different.
- 53:04Speaker 4: I have one more question for you, and I want
- 53:05Speaker 4: to take you back to college your senior year. You're
- 53:07Speaker 4: Drake may Hey. Is he gonna go first?
- 53:09Speaker 2: Overall?
- 53:09Speaker 4: This kid's a specimen. He's this, He's that. You start
- 53:12Speaker 4: off seven and oh eight and oh ranked ten in
- 53:17Speaker 4: the country. Is this Drake may kid? Is he about it?
- 53:21Speaker 4: And then Virginia and Georgia Tech happened? What the fuck
- 53:25Speaker 4: happened against Virginia and Georgia Tech?
- 53:27Speaker 7: Those the same thing.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Those are the kind of questions you're getting a bust
- 53:30Speaker 1: with the boys, hard hitting jobs right there.
- 53:32Speaker 7: No, I think it was it was tough. I think
- 53:34Speaker 7: we twice two years in a row. My last two
- 53:36Speaker 7: years two years I played, we lost to a Georgia
- 53:38Speaker 7: Tech at home. We ranked tenth in the country. We
- 53:41Speaker 7: were like nine to one, and then we lost to Virginia.
- 53:43Speaker 7: That next year, we were like maybe seven or eight
- 53:46Speaker 7: in the country at home. Yeah, I think it's uh
- 53:50Speaker 7: fucking christ this kind of story nor Con football.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Really.
- 53:53Speaker 7: You know when I was there, we just couldn't find
- 53:55Speaker 7: a way to get over the hump, kind of get
- 53:56Speaker 7: into that next category of of wins and being that
- 53:59Speaker 7: next kind of vision of respect you know, around the
- 54:02Speaker 7: country for our football program. And I really think it
- 54:04Speaker 7: was just unfortunate.
- 54:05Speaker 1: This is my last question. Well, is your welcome to
- 54:08Speaker 1: the NFL moment. If you got to go with the
- 54:10Speaker 1: thing you have to go, you to be fast.
- 54:12Speaker 7: I think the Neil Hunter. I think we came out
- 54:13Speaker 7: of halftime. I just threw a touchdown. My first touchdown
- 54:16Speaker 7: was fourteen to seven, and we're getting empty and yeah,
- 54:19Speaker 7: I get stripped sacked to start off the half the
- 54:21Speaker 7: first play, and then from there it was kind of like,
- 54:24Speaker 7: you know, holding the ball in this league, you gotta
- 54:25Speaker 7: get rid of it.
- 54:26Speaker 2: So get rid of it.
- 54:26Speaker 6: Dude.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Appreciate your time. Thank you so much. Yeah, I appreciate you.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:33Speaker 4: We interrupt this episode because we were brought to you
- 54:35Speaker 4: by Neutral Vodka Seltzer. Have you tried Neutral. If not,
- 54:38Speaker 4: you are missing out. Neutral is so much better than
- 54:41Speaker 4: any seltzer that I've tried. It's made with real vodka
- 54:44Speaker 4: and real juice, and that's what makes it delicious. Neutral
- 54:47Speaker 4: comes in a variety of flavors like watermelon, orange, black cherry.
- 54:50Speaker 4: There's also new flavors lime and strawberry. Because Neutral is
- 54:54Speaker 4: the perfect drink to bring when hanging with friends, because
- 54:57Speaker 4: it is.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Such a crop pleaser.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Whether you're watching watching the game at the bar, watching
- 55:02Speaker 4: in the backyard with friends, hanging out and grilling with
- 55:04Speaker 4: in the backyard with friends, or you're at a tailgate
- 55:06Speaker 4: before on game day, bring Neutral seltzer. Keep it tasty
- 55:11Speaker 4: with Neutral. Back to this episode, Robert Spulaane.
- 55:17Speaker 9: Yeah, come on, I appreciate you guys having me on.
- 55:20Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Absolutely welcome to Busting with the Boys. I am personally
- 55:25Speaker 4: fired up. I know Taylor's fired up as well. But
- 55:28Speaker 4: just as an undrafted linebacker, you were a rookie mini
- 55:33Speaker 4: camp tryout, like the gutter the gutter of gutters. Rabe
- 55:38Speaker 4: was kind of saying too, He's like the meatia camp trial.
- 55:40Speaker 4: Guys like you just have them there to be bodies
- 55:43Speaker 4: for the people you bring in the draft picks you
- 55:46Speaker 4: bring in the other preferred undrafted free agents that you
- 55:50Speaker 4: bring in. You weren't one of those. You got what
- 55:53Speaker 4: an offer coming out of where'd.
- 55:55Speaker 2: You go to college?
- 55:56Speaker 6: To Western Michigan, to.
- 55:57Speaker 4: Western Michigan, bro and now all the way to just
- 56:01Speaker 4: signing a three year, thirty three million dollar deal to
- 56:06Speaker 4: be with the Patriots a second stint with coach Rabel.
- 56:10Speaker 4: We're fucking proud of you, bro Stoked.
- 56:12Speaker 6: Definitely come a long way.
- 56:14Speaker 9: Hasn't been easy, A lot of trials and tribulations. You know,
- 56:17Speaker 9: when you started as an undrafted player, they look at
- 56:20Speaker 9: you as an undrafted player for the remainder of your career.
- 56:22Speaker 9: So I still have that chip on my shoulder every
- 56:24Speaker 9: day I go out there. I tell myself you're undrafted.
- 56:27Speaker 9: You know it's time to go earn it.
- 56:29Speaker 1: When did you think you had? Obviously you could tell
- 56:31Speaker 1: you love ball And we tell the story. We told
- 56:33Speaker 1: the story in the podcast multiple times of us sitting
- 56:35Speaker 1: after I think.
- 56:36Speaker 2: It was Pittsburgh he reception.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Hand reception had like seven, eight, maybe even ten tackles
- 56:41Speaker 1: and you're kind of walking by and we're like chopping
- 56:43Speaker 1: it up in the corner a little we're a little
- 56:44Speaker 1: banged up, and I'm like, hey, man, kind of did
- 56:47Speaker 1: your think out there? And you kind of get a
- 56:48Speaker 1: little nervous. You're like, I love football, and you kind
- 56:50Speaker 1: of just kept it moving and it's like we joked
- 56:53Speaker 1: and laughed about it, but like, brother, that those are
- 56:55Speaker 1: the guys that make it, the dudes that sit there,
- 56:57Speaker 1: and they're like, you have to truly love playing this
- 57:00Speaker 1: game to be put in the position you were in
- 57:02Speaker 1: the NFL and now to be sitting where you are now.
- 57:04Speaker 1: But at what point was it that rookie minni camp?
- 57:07Speaker 1: Was it after your first year, when were you like, oh,
- 57:09Speaker 1: I can I think I can actually play in the NFL.
- 57:12Speaker 9: I think our first practice as a team, when I
- 57:14Speaker 9: got the veterans in there after rookie Mini Camp, and
- 57:16Speaker 9: I saw what the NFL was, I knew I had
- 57:19Speaker 9: a chance to make it. I had an internal confidence
- 57:22Speaker 9: right away that I am undrafted. I'm the ninth man
- 57:25Speaker 9: on the roster of the ninetieth overall, the ninth in
- 57:28Speaker 9: the linebacker corps, and I feel like I can make
- 57:31Speaker 9: myself good enough to be good in this league one day.
- 57:34Speaker 4: But you get cut, then you go on practice squad
- 57:38Speaker 4: you get cut, I believe in October if I remember right,
- 57:42Speaker 4: And then you end up signing with Pittsburgh in the
- 57:45Speaker 4: next February, like after the season's over, so you're you know,
- 57:48Speaker 4: technically the saying is, you're on your couch for the
- 57:50Speaker 4: rest of the season. Did doubt ever creep in your mind?
- 57:55Speaker 9: Yeah, it's hard. It's hard when you get cut in
- 57:59Speaker 9: the spend four months at home. You go out to
- 58:02Speaker 9: la for a tryout, they send you home without giving
- 58:06Speaker 9: you a call back. You go out to Denver for
- 58:08Speaker 9: a tryout, they send you home without getting a call back.
- 58:11Speaker 6: Go out to.
- 58:12Speaker 9: Pittsburgh for a tryout, and just as we're walking on
- 58:15Speaker 9: the field with six inside linebackers, they signed one of them.
- 58:19Speaker 9: They take one of them upstairs and say we're gonna
- 58:21Speaker 9: sign you in front of everybody.
- 58:23Speaker 6: So I go out for the tryout. I'd leave without
- 58:25Speaker 6: a call.
- 58:26Speaker 9: I in turn, decided to give them a call back
- 58:29Speaker 9: and give them a piece of my mind and say,
- 58:31Speaker 9: why the fuck did you bring me out here? What
- 58:33Speaker 9: was the fucking point of bringing me out here if
- 58:35Speaker 9: you already had your mind made up? And it was
- 58:37Speaker 9: that energy, that fire that they saw in me. And
- 58:39Speaker 9: two days later, they gave me an opportunity.
- 58:42Speaker 1: What are they saying on the phone so you call them, Hey,
- 58:45Speaker 1: patch me into Mike Tomlin.
- 58:47Speaker 6: It wasn't Mike Tomlin.
- 58:48Speaker 4: It was.
- 58:50Speaker 9: Kevin Colbert's son, the head, one of the head scouts
- 58:53Speaker 9: that invited me to the tryout originally, and he called me,
- 58:56Speaker 9: or I called him after the tryout saying, what was
- 58:59Speaker 9: thet of you bringing out here? We just talked on
- 59:01Speaker 9: the phone before I got out here. You want to
- 59:03Speaker 9: give me an opportunity? And I felt like, that's bullshit.
- 59:06Speaker 9: You gotta signed a guy without even giving me a shot,
- 59:09Speaker 9: and uh, he just oh, yeah, we're gonna We're still
- 59:13Speaker 9: looking at you. We're still looking at you. I'm like, yeah, bullshit.
- 59:15Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 59:16Speaker 9: Didn't expect to hear anything back from them. Two days later,
- 59:19Speaker 9: they gave me an opportunity to come in for a
- 59:21Speaker 9: ninety man roster spot and kind of worked my way
- 59:25Speaker 9: through practice squad, through special teams, and then got my
- 59:29Speaker 9: opportunity to play defense.
- 59:30Speaker 6: When Devin Bush went on.
- 59:32Speaker 4: That when you decided to call them and give him
- 59:34Speaker 4: a piece of mind, is it like your frustration was
- 59:37Speaker 4: at an all time high when you're going out and
- 59:40Speaker 4: doing tryouts because me like doubt, doubt being the wrong
- 59:42Speaker 4: We're more of like discouraged that you're putting in all
- 59:45Speaker 4: this work, you're persevering, you're staying resilient, you believe in yourself.
- 59:48Speaker 4: Did it just get to a point where it's like,
- 59:50Speaker 4: I gotta I gotta figure out why this isn't happening.
- 59:53Speaker 9: Yeah, without a doubt, I wanted answers. I wanted I
- 59:56Speaker 9: felt like I was wronged. I felt like I had
- 59:59Speaker 9: to ability and the capabilities to one day be a
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: successful player in this league. So it really bothered me
- 1:00:05Speaker 9: that I wasn't getting that opportunity. And I honestly believe
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: if I didn't have that chip on my shoulder, I
- 1:00:11Speaker 9: wouldn't be here today.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Yeah, when you when you go to the Steelers, you
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: get on the ninety man roster, put the dark visor on.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: By the way, that was a nice touch, was very nice. Yeah,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: headaches head, Yeah, that's what it's all about. You go
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: and play the Titans again, and there's a goal line
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: stand and a lot of people. I believe there's a
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: there's another reporter. He's on ESPN. He talks about him
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: and Derek Henry in the whole He's taking Derick Henry
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: ol and everyone always argues about it, but you actually
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: stood Derek's ass up with the Derek. We love Derek
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: on the show, but handled business was that like you're
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: coming uh, you're coming out moment for.
- 1:00:47Speaker 9: Sure, my first career start against the team that cut
- 1:00:50Speaker 9: me two years prior. Anytime you step on the field
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: with King Henry, you have to give him respect and
- 1:00:55Speaker 9: you have to bring it all. If you take a
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: slight second of the playoff, he's scoring a touchdown. So
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: I knew at that moment that it it had to
- 1:01:06Speaker 9: be there on the goal line with the team that
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: cut me two years prior. All that worked up inside
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: me and I was able to make a nice play
- 1:01:14Speaker 9: on the goal line.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Out there.
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I felt the excitement from everybody in the stands.
- 1:01:20Speaker 9: My whole family took a bus from Chicago to the game.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: Oh that's awesome.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: I had a lot of friends on the Tennessee Titans
- 1:01:27Speaker 9: still at that point that showed me love after the game,
- 1:01:31Speaker 9: So it was really a special moment for me.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: You put your face in the fan, did you feel
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: it like as you were getting up to celebrate.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: I definitely lost a few years of my life in
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: that moment.
- 1:01:40Speaker 9: Yeah, I definitely gave the Good Lord a few years
- 1:01:44Speaker 9: of my life.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: You have a did you feel it like you have
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: a sting or anything like that.
- 1:01:48Speaker 9: Yeah, they call it a stinger. But when you can't
- 1:01:51Speaker 9: feel half your body and you're like, no, ship, I
- 1:01:57Speaker 9: came off the field. Cam Hayward rips me off the ground.
- 1:01:59Speaker 9: He's like, oh, spill sleeping, get off the field. So
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: I run off the field and obviously you don't want
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: to be wobbling coming off the field. So I'm like, oh,
- 1:02:08Speaker 9: my shoulder sore, my shoulder. And I guess that's all
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: part of playing in the NFL.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: So when you go to.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: As you're going through the Steelers, you get cut, you
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: going practice squad, you get cut again early in the year,
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: you get brought brought back the next week. Then when
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: Devin Bush goes down with an ACL injury, you get
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: your number calls. And then that game, I think you
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: go on, you have like, you have a few good plays,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: and that next week Tomlin's in the in the press
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: conference saying that you're going to be the starter. Take
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: us through, take us through that process, and what that
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: meant to hear knowing that coach Tomlin and the Steelers
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: had that trust in you to continue to be the starter.
- 1:02:47Speaker 9: Yeah, knowing that they had that trust in me, it
- 1:02:49Speaker 9: was all I needed to go out there and succeed.
- 1:02:51Speaker 9: Knowing I had the trust of the ten people around me.
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: It's a very safe spot when you're in the middle
- 1:02:55Speaker 9: linebacker of these defenses. You got ten killers all around you.
- 1:02:58Speaker 9: So it seems very chaotic and a lot going on,
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: but for me, that's like where I feel the most
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: calm and Uh, having the confidence of the players and
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: the coaches in that organization meant everything to me to
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: go out there and succeed.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: How they break the news to you, they call you
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: in the office, they play a truck or anything.
- 1:03:15Speaker 9: Yeah, Tom Win called me in and he said, it's
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: time to start living like a pro.
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: We need to get you some new outfits. We need
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: to get you a new car.
- 1:03:21Speaker 9: You're you're our starting mid a linebacker, so you need
- 1:03:23Speaker 9: to come in looking like it, playing like it. So
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: it was kind of a fun moment for me, and uh,
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: something I'll never forget.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Did you listen, You'll get yourself a next you get.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: A new car.
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: No, I And that's probably why they didn't keep me
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: around too much longer.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: So you went on, you signed free agency with the Raiders.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Did Pittsburgh not want you back?
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: No, they they didn't.
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: And it hurts to say that, and it it hurts
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: to feel like that because you felt like you great,
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: You made all these great connections, You felt like you
- 1:03:55Speaker 9: poured your heart on the line, you felt like you
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: did everything to be a good team player. But at
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: the end of the day, this is a business and
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: they don't always want you back. And it hurts, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 9: it hurts, and it adds to that chip on the shoulder.
- 1:04:07Speaker 9: But that's all I could do at that point was
- 1:04:10Speaker 9: go out to Vegas my one opportunity no one else
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: was calling, and go out there and ball.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: So who else was in the conversation when you were
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: negotiating as a free agent ended up with the Raiders.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: It was the Raiders. It was just the Raiders.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: So when you were going into free agency, what were
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: those conversations like in your exit meetings with the Steelers,
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: Like as your interfergency.
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: Before I went into free agency, that told me go
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: out test the market and see what you get. We're
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: going to offer whatever they give you, and we want
- 1:04:38Speaker 9: to make you a Steeler.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: We love you and your brain.
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: You're like, this is where I want to So I
- 1:04:42Speaker 9: called them, oh I got an offer from the Steeler
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: or from the Raiders, like I want to come back.
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: What's the deal? And they were like, oh, good luck,
- 1:04:50Speaker 9: have fun. So really that's how it happened. And obviously
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: at the time you're sick, you're moving across the country,
- 1:04:58Speaker 9: but at the same time you're so happy because somebody
- 1:05:00Speaker 9: believes in you, and that's all you really need, like
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: to have Patrick Graham out there, to have Josh McDaniels
- 1:05:06Speaker 9: out there, believe Antonio Pierce believing in me as the
- 1:05:08Speaker 9: player and as a person. That's what gives me confidence
- 1:05:12Speaker 9: to go out there and do what I do best.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: What was it like when So was it March when
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I saw you at UFC? Yeah, yeah, and I was
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Plaine like walks by me. We kind of like I
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: don't I'm just kind of walking and he kind of
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: like he's like he could see you, man, like maybe
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: goes I'm gonna be a Patriot and just kind of
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: books it out of there. I was like you just
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: you see, just beaming absolutely being back. When Braves calls
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you Were you just so fired up about the full
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: circle moment? Was he the one that called you or
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: the gym called you?
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: Yeah, they offered the deal once free agency opened. Uh,
- 1:05:44Speaker 9: And I knew I wanted to be a Patriot. I
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: knew I wanted to get back with coach Rabel. I
- 1:05:47Speaker 9: knew what type of person he is willing to lay
- 1:05:50Speaker 9: his life on the line for his players. And Uh,
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: it's just an organization that you want to be a
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: part of. It's a historic organization and a new emerging
- 1:05:59Speaker 9: team with a lot of new peace. And it seemed
- 1:06:01Speaker 9: like a really good opportunity for me and my family.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: How does it feel for you when you walk out
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: and do a scrimmage last Friday and you see all
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: six of those banners standing up there in the stadium.
- 1:06:09Speaker 9: Yeah, it's it's Uh, it's pressure. But at the end
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: of the day, that's why we come out here. That's
- 1:06:14Speaker 9: why we love doing what we're doing. We love when
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: these these stadiums are filled out, sold out, rocking, loud
- 1:06:20Speaker 9: and excitement, and uh, we're gonna have a lot of
- 1:06:24Speaker 9: that this year. And I can't wait to see what
- 1:06:26Speaker 9: Pat's Nation is all about.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: Your second Stanton Free agency, same kind of question, like
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: when it was coming to a name with the Raiders,
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: Like who is in the market for you before you
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: ultimately decided on the Patriots? Like with the Raiders winning, you.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: Bat uh not not really?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: God damn.
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: And I feel like, uh, Max Crossby, You're gonna.
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: Have to ask Max, because he went on the podcast
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: and he said, you know, he's been in the office
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: with the GM every day in the offseason. So I
- 1:06:59Speaker 9: don't know what happened where the love loss was there,
- 1:07:02Speaker 9: But at the end of the day, I have this
- 1:07:05Speaker 9: opportunity here and I'm gonna do with everything I can
- 1:07:08Speaker 9: to be a good teammate here and performed for the Patriots.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: Were there any other teams that were fighting for you
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: before you decided here?
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Yeah? There was?
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: Are you able to do you want to hear about it?
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Yea.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: So this is a podcast we do. We like, we
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: like talking people.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: This isn't like, this isn't like a professional ESPN sit down.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:27Speaker 9: I mean there was a team in the West Coast.
- 1:07:31Speaker 9: There was a team that I had recently played for
- 1:07:34Speaker 9: and won in the Mountains, and uh uh, they all
- 1:07:39Speaker 9: showed a big interest and we're excited.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: So Denver Chargers, Titans close.
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: It's very close.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: It's very close.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Yes, And then it was the Rams.
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: Uh yeah, well we'll we'll just say that's that was close.
- 1:07:55Speaker 9: That was very close.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Who who is the closest outside of the New England.
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:08:02Speaker 9: I mean once once it once, it came down to
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: it in New England said and showed me that they
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: wanted me to come out here.
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: It was a done deal. I wanted to be here.
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: Out of the four teams that were offering, I wanted
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: to be part of the Patriots. So I'm glad that
- 1:08:17Speaker 9: we got it done here and I'm excited to go
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: out and perform.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: You know, splain when we're asking these questions, every everything
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: we've asked as far as harmless. But he's thinking himself,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: what's that team meeting gonna look like when this podcast
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: comes out and Raves goes plain, we're not paying you enough?
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: You mean what you want to be here?
- 1:08:33Speaker 9: No, I'm so excited and glad to be here. And
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: and we we got a young team. A lot of
- 1:08:40Speaker 9: free agents joined the team this year, so it's gonna
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: look a lot different than last year.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: And we're just gonna go out and Uh, continue to work.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: What do you.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Do?
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: My best to ask question where you just won't give
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: a bullshit answer?
- 1:08:55Speaker 6: Are they all bullshit answered?
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: Speak for you know, I don't want to say something stupid,
- 1:09:05Speaker 9: no doubt. I am not a trained podcaster, so.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: None of us are.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: These other hypothetical teams that I may or may not
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: have been close on. Did they offer even offer the
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: same amount as the Patriots?
- 1:09:18Speaker 9: Yes, they were right in the same ballpark anymore they
- 1:09:23Speaker 9: were right in the same ballpark as the Patriots.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: Did you have a recruiting dinner with Rapes? Recruiting didn't
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: like did you come out here to visit? And they
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: Rabe was courting you around.
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: Once once we signed your say.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: Before if you came out here for a visitor.
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: So there was no conversation leading up to free agency.
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: Once free agency hit, my agent called me at whatever
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: it was noon that day and said, you know, the
- 1:09:48Speaker 9: Pats really want you. So I was excited to hear
- 1:09:52Speaker 9: that I've worked with coach t in the past or
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: defensive coordinator, I've worked with Rabel in the past, and Uh,
- 1:09:58Speaker 9: it just seemed like.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: The right fit for me and my family.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: You have to play the Steelers and the Raiders, two
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: teams to have elite pass rushers. What are similarities and
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: some differences you see between TJ Watt and Max Crosby.
- 1:10:12Speaker 9: Yeah, two of the best in the league. Obviously, as
- 1:10:14Speaker 9: you can see those contracts, those boys are living right.
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: They are working hard. TJ is dominant, both on the
- 1:10:22Speaker 9: left side of the ball. Both have the freedom to
- 1:10:25Speaker 9: do whatever they want on a play. You know, if
- 1:10:28Speaker 9: you have a non dominant edge rusher, you tell them
- 1:10:31Speaker 9: set the edge. If you have Max and TJ, you
- 1:10:33Speaker 9: tell them do whatever the hell you want because we
- 1:10:36Speaker 9: know you're gonna make a play. So playing behind those
- 1:10:39Speaker 9: guys has let me learn how to play behind people
- 1:10:43Speaker 9: that like to swim gaps, like to find the ball.
- 1:10:46Speaker 9: I think TJ has done a great job forst fumbles interceptions.
- 1:10:51Speaker 9: Max has the best motor in the NFL, so he
- 1:10:53Speaker 9: is unblockable for ninety snaps out of the game, which
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: is unheard of from a d end I.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: Love it, Bobby, we're getting we're getting the wrap up signal.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: But dude, again, so proud of you. I think you
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: are a fucking awesome example front drafted guys being a
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: rookie MENI camp trial guy, to get all the way
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: into your third contract, which is massive, especially at the
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: linebacker spot. Man, and I wish you well this year, bro,
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: stay healthy.
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks for having me on. I appreciate Love you guys.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Love you too, man, Thank you guys. Sorry, So let's
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: get into let's get into this that outfit. This you're
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: you're obviously rocking something special. What is the what's the
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: reason for this?
- 1:11:36Speaker 10: Uh So, originally there was function behind it. So six
- 1:11:39Speaker 10: years ago I played Miami. Yeah, you know, it's ninety
- 1:11:41Speaker 10: five degrees, feels like one hundred and two. But the
- 1:11:44Speaker 10: ends of this don't get wet. Yeah, when it's like
- 1:11:46Speaker 10: flowing through, it'll sweat up here, but the whole shirt
- 1:11:48Speaker 10: won't get wet, so I can dry my fingers.
- 1:11:51Speaker 8: And then every training camp now I just do it.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I love it.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: So originally the West function. Now it's pure style. Yeah,
- 1:11:57Speaker 10: it's like eighty two outsider.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: How crazy is it going from a place in Miami
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: to New England? And then you're probably in the shame game.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: But you hear one guy whispered, man, it's fucking hot
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: out here, and what are you talking about?
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: You have no idea?
- 1:12:09Speaker 10: Literally, the guy's like it was like ninety three the
- 1:12:11Speaker 10: other day. Dude like like, yeah, I don't know if
- 1:12:13Speaker 10: I can go. I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 1:12:15Speaker 10: This is like we got a ninety three degree day
- 1:12:17Speaker 10: in Miami. Everybody was smiling here to ear like this
- 1:12:20Speaker 10: is simple.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gorgeous out here.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's super nice.
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: Like y'all haven't even changed your cleats because they're soaking
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: water through.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Yet, right you start walking up the field and your
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: your feet a little squish.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's okay, we had a hot day.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, how's it. How's the process been with with Mike
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: and the culture and everything here in New England.
- 1:12:39Speaker 10: It's been good. I think one of the biggest things.
- 1:12:41Speaker 10: And I've been kind of in that New England style
- 1:12:43Speaker 10: system of like work and get shit done, and I
- 1:12:46Speaker 10: love that.
- 1:12:47Speaker 8: Type of ship, like the guy who works hard gets rewarded.
- 1:12:51Speaker 10: But having Mike, who was also played so he understands,
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: like when he says some shit, it's like, Okay, he's
- 1:12:55Speaker 10: actually probably done it. He's done some of the ship
- 1:12:57Speaker 10: that he's telling us to do, so it works out.
- 1:13:00Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: Cool.
- 1:13:00Speaker 10: I can I can hear where he's coming from because
- 1:13:02Speaker 10: he could pull up some tape with him actually doing it.
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: He's not just talking out his ass.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Yeah it's gramy as hell, but he did do it
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: for fourteen years. How many times has he mentioned that
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: he's played fourteen years in the NFL and team.
- 1:13:12Speaker 10: Meetings, team meetings, I don't know. When he comes in
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: the receiver room, it's straight to the touchdowns. It's like
- 1:13:17Speaker 10: ten for ten or twelve or twelve.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Whatever it is. Yeah, even I can do.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: When he first started the Titans, this he was AJ's
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: first year, he put up all the receivers and their
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: stats from the year before, and it was like, I
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: think all of them had like maybe total eleven and
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: then his was twelve or twelve twelve touchdowns.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: He like he out paid him.
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: Was it until I want to say it was in
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: the middle of the second time around that I was there,
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: like twenty twenty. Yeah, when the room finally passed him
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: in touchdowns? Which is it was something.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: That was that was a team that's big for the.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: How big?
- 1:13:53Speaker 10: Well?
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: How how finally do you look back on your last
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: year with the Buffalo. It seemed like you had a
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: lot of fun. I feel like you were in the
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: headlines a lot more. Obviously, you've talked to it, you've
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: spoken about your feet at length, But it seemed like
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: you guys had a really fun locker room in Buffalo.
- 1:14:06Speaker 8: Yeah, for sure, I had a lot of fun. The
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: guys are great.
- 1:14:09Speaker 10: Uh, anybody who's played their kind of nose. That's really
- 1:14:12Speaker 10: all there is is ball and city loves you, and
- 1:14:14Speaker 10: if you work hard, it like kind of turns over
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: you're winning games. And when you're winning games, freaking no
- 1:14:19Speaker 10: matter where you're at, it's freaking great. So yeah, I
- 1:14:22Speaker 10: had a great time there and I was able to
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: be barefoot and wild and yeah, oh that time, they
- 1:14:27Speaker 10: just embraced it, and like people started wearing no shoes
- 1:14:29Speaker 10: in the snow and I was like, hey, I'm not
- 1:14:30Speaker 10: liable for any of that shit.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Yeah, are you going no shoes in the snow?
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: On the on the walk in, yeah, walk in. No
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: matter what the temperature is, I'm going barefoot. But if
- 1:14:37Speaker 10: it gets blowed thirty five, it's just I don't know.
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: I think the word I guess people use would be
- 1:14:45Speaker 10: the placcification of America. People are so soft now, like,
- 1:14:48Speaker 10: bro do something hard for once. It's not even hard
- 1:14:50Speaker 10: to wear no shoes, But like if it gets blowed
- 1:14:52Speaker 10: thirty five. I'm not an idiot, like I'll put shoes on,
- 1:14:54Speaker 10: but walking into games, no matter what, I have to
- 1:14:56Speaker 10: be barefoot.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: How long you've been doing this.
- 1:14:59Speaker 8: For walking in the games? Probably three four years?
- 1:15:02Speaker 10: Yeah, so I got hurt seven years ago, started training barefoot.
- 1:15:06Speaker 10: Found these guys in Australia called m MT. They trained,
- 1:15:09Speaker 10: They showed up to Philly. I flew him out, freaking
- 1:15:11Speaker 10: barefoot out off the plane. I'm like, the fuck are
- 1:15:14Speaker 10: you doing? Same way y'all look at me. That's how
- 1:15:16Speaker 10: I looked at them. Started training with them, and then
- 1:15:18Speaker 10: like three four years ago, I was like, what's the
- 1:15:19Speaker 10: point of the shoes?
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:15:20Speaker 10: I just don't pack them and sit. Other than bathrooms
- 1:15:22Speaker 10: and airports is the only time I were.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Shoes really, So you you obviously going to a restaurant
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: they excuse me, sir.
- 1:15:27Speaker 10: If I'm by myself like this, and if they kicked
- 1:15:30Speaker 10: me out, so be it. But if I'm with the group,
- 1:15:31Speaker 10: I'm gonna wear shoes like I'm not gonna screw the whole. Yeah,
- 1:15:34Speaker 10: but by myself I'll get kicked out of places all
- 1:15:36Speaker 10: the time.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: But you probably have to be so thankful you found this.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: You found this group in Australia.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Yeah you did.
- 1:15:46Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean I was like about to retire, Like
- 1:15:48Speaker 10: I couldn't walk for a year, Like just came off
- 1:15:52Speaker 10: the Super Bowl, just won a Super Bowl and then
- 1:15:53Speaker 10: for six eight months couldn't walk. I was like, yo,
- 1:15:56Speaker 10: I just was at the peak too, I can't do anything.
- 1:15:58Speaker 10: What was the injury again, grunt? I had a growin.
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: I had surgery.
- 1:16:01Speaker 10: Three months later toward the other side, had surgery again,
- 1:16:04Speaker 10: and like couldn't walk, couldn't get back from it.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: And what was these Australians, these barefoot of Australians. What
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: is the method behind?
- 1:16:11Speaker 10: So they're called Melbourne Muscular Therapy. So muscular therapy is
- 1:16:14Speaker 10: like their main thing body work. But then they also
- 1:16:16Speaker 10: do so I was doing whim Hoff stuff. I was
- 1:16:18Speaker 10: doing like breathing exercise, eye gazing, where you like sit
- 1:16:21Speaker 10: interests from each other and stare in each other eyes.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Literally.
- 1:16:24Speaker 10: The first thing they did when they got to my house,
- 1:16:25Speaker 10: they blindfolded me, picked me up on their shoulders to
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: start carrying around the neighborhood. And this is like Philly
- 1:16:29Speaker 10: and our season is not going too hot at the time,
- 1:16:31Speaker 10: so now they see my weird ass doing this, and
- 1:16:34Speaker 10: I'm like, what's going on, and they're like, we just
- 1:16:36Speaker 10: want you to know that, no matter what, like we
- 1:16:37Speaker 10: got you. And at that point I was like, whatever,
- 1:16:40Speaker 10: I'm about to retire, I'll do whatever y'all say. And
- 1:16:42Speaker 10: then within like three months, I was back running again.
- 1:16:46Speaker 10: And you know when you get hurt and you all
- 1:16:47Speaker 10: of a sudden get that like, oh I might be
- 1:16:49Speaker 10: able to do this again.
- 1:16:50Speaker 8: Yeah, it freaking change everything.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Everything you're explaining to me sounds like the beginning of
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: a cult.
- 1:16:55Speaker 10: Sometimes the cults are right though, you know you're coptime.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: I'm scared even asking which cult is right?
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Right exactly?
- 1:17:08Speaker 8: You got your yeah.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: No doubt, but did you? So they're picking you up
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: there walking around Philly, and all of a sudden, you
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: can you walk and feel great a few months later.
- 1:17:17Speaker 10: I mean, the body work is the main thing. So
- 1:17:18Speaker 10: they did bodywork on me. I would say between six
- 1:17:21Speaker 10: and eight hours a day for two weeks straight. So
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: I'm getting forty plus hours a week of like bodywork,
- 1:17:26Speaker 10: holding muscles, just completely releasing all the tension in my body.
- 1:17:30Speaker 10: In their mind, your body's kind of like a plumbing
- 1:17:32Speaker 10: system and they're just clogs all over the place, So
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: how can we help you unclog so everything flows properly.
- 1:17:38Speaker 10: And that's what they did. Like you know, when you
- 1:17:40Speaker 10: have a surgery, you wake up and your brain doesn't know.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: What's going on. It just wakes up.
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: It's like, oh shit, this is this is completely different
- 1:17:45Speaker 8: than what it was. Now just get fixed.
- 1:17:47Speaker 10: And we're just so trained to Yep, you have surgery,
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: so you're good, which your brain doesn't know. It went
- 1:17:50Speaker 10: to sleep and it couldn't really control or had pain
- 1:17:52Speaker 10: somewhere and it wakes up and like, now it doesn't
- 1:17:54Speaker 10: know what's going on. So I think that second surgery
- 1:17:56Speaker 10: just kind of shut everything down and they were able
- 1:17:58Speaker 10: to get me back on.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: For the last couple of minutes. I would love to
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: know what is your favorite thing about coach Rabel and
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: what is one thing.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: You don't you think should work on you think he
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: can work on?
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: There we go because I was like, iron.
- 1:18:19Speaker 10: I think he What I love is that he'll he'll
- 1:18:20Speaker 10: get the competitiveness out of me. I love talking ship.
- 1:18:25Speaker 10: I think he does too. And it gets that even
- 1:18:27Speaker 10: though he's getting older and you kind of lose that
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: that t level and that and that competitive, like I'm
- 1:18:31Speaker 10: still a player, but he still has Yeah, he still
- 1:18:35Speaker 10: has it and you can get it out of him
- 1:18:36Speaker 10: and it's uh and it's great things that he could
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: work on or improved.
- 1:18:45Speaker 8: I feel like sometimes he gets soft on the guys.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: Now you know, oh you think so?
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he gets.
- 1:18:51Speaker 10: I think it's more of a cb A thing than
- 1:18:52Speaker 10: him though. I think he wants to get us to work,
- 1:18:55Speaker 10: but I think he's like kind of forced not to.
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: And sometimes I look at him, I think he really
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: wants to like spaz on dudes, you know, like if
- 1:19:01Speaker 10: somebody came late, how it probably was before the CPA
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: changed a little bit and you couldn't be as like
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: stricter guys. I think he still has it in him
- 1:19:08Speaker 10: and he wants to let it out, Like I don't
- 1:19:10Speaker 10: think he's allowed to anymore.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: So you think he's lost if you think he's got
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: a little soft Yeah.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: So what you're saying is the pacification of America. Raves
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: is a part of that.
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: No, not really, it's like forced on him.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: I mean like yeah, he's picked up bull Yeah.
- 1:19:24Speaker 10: Like yeah, like he really wants to just spas on
- 1:19:26Speaker 10: somebody for like coming late or like doing some shit
- 1:19:29Speaker 10: that like constantly happens, but he just like not allowed to.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and I.
- 1:19:32Speaker 10: Can see it because I'm front row, and I'm like,
- 1:19:34Speaker 10: I think, I think he's about to do it.
- 1:19:36Speaker 8: He's gonna do it, and he's like, I.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: Can't do you look at him in like a way
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: like you're kind of sad for him because he's coming.
- 1:19:41Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, because now it's like this Twitter
- 1:19:45Speaker 10: age like in thirty minutes will come out that Raves
- 1:19:48Speaker 10: yelled at somebody and all of a sudden, Yeah, we
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: gotta shut the team.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: When you see it in him, next time, you should
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: just whisper it out, bro, do we gotta? Are we good?
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll listen to your thank man. We know you
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: guys are in the schedule. We appreciate you taking that.
- 1:20:07Speaker 8: Yeah, appreciate it.
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: Yeah, appreciate it.
