- 0:00Welcome to Future Forward, where we explore the
- 0:02tech shaping our world. Yeah. Today, we're diving
- 0:06into something we all rely on but rarely think
- 0:09about, the complex infrastructure that delivers
- 0:12our water. And how AI is making it smarter. Dubai's
- 0:17Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has just
- 0:20deployed a new system. It's called the Intelligence
- 0:23Data Modeling Software, or IDMS. It's a fascinating
- 0:28leap forward. So break it down for us. How does
- 0:31it work? Is it just more sensors? It's what happens
- 0:35after the sensors. Think of the existing SCADA
- 0:38system as the city's water network's nervous
- 0:41system. You know, thousands of sensors collecting
- 0:44data. Okay. The IDMS acts as the intelligent
- 0:48brain. It uses machine learning to constantly
- 0:51analyze every single signal, every alarm, every
- 0:55single notification from that network. Wow. So
- 0:59it's not just collecting data, it's interpreting
- 1:01it in real time. What does that mean in like
- 1:04a practical sense? It means a shift from reaction
- 1:07to prediction. Before, you might wait for a major
- 1:11pressure drop to signal a burst pipe. Right.
- 1:14The old way. Exactly. Now the system can identify
- 1:18a subtle, unusual pattern of minor alarms and
- 1:21actually predict a potential failure point before
- 1:24it breaks. No way. And it can even send an automatic
- 1:28SMS alert directly to the right engineer. That
- 1:32level of proactivity is just, it's a huge step.
- 1:35The MD and CEO of Diwa, His Excellency Saeed
- 1:39Mohammed Al -Tayr, he spoke about this larger
- 1:41vision. He said, and I'll read this in fall because
- 1:44I think it captures the strategy perfectly. Diwa
- 1:47continues to invest in advanced digital solutions
- 1:50that enhance the reliability of critical infrastructure
- 1:54and raise operational readiness. In line with
- 1:58the vision of the WISE leadership to consolidate
- 2:00Dubai's position as a global model for innovation
- 2:03and sustainability. Implementing IDMS supports
- 2:07our shift towards utilizing artificial intelligence
- 2:10and machine learning to analyze big data and
- 2:13proactively address operational challenges. Right.
- 2:17Resulting in higher efficiency, faster responses,
- 2:20and long -term service sustainability. This achievement
- 2:23reflects TU's commitment to strengthening digital
- 2:26and smart technologies across its operations.
- 2:29Yeah. Supporting the UAE's direction and adopting
- 2:32innovation and AI, and enhancing the efficiency
- 2:35of key services. That quote is the core of it
- 2:39all, isn't it? It connects this single piece
- 2:42of technology to a whole national strategy of
- 2:45leading with innovation. Exactly. So it's not
- 2:48just about fixing pipes faster. It's about building
- 2:51a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable
- 2:54city. It's a patented, active system that's already
- 2:58delivering on that promise. A digital brain just
- 3:01making sure our most vital resource is safe and
- 3:04secure. It really makes you think. Now, here's
- 3:07a question we'd like you to think about. As this
- 3:10kind of predictive AI becomes standard for managing
- 3:13essentials like water and power, what is the
- 3:16next public service you believe is most in need
- 3:19of this intelligent upgrade?
