- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, now nine till noon weekdays on 710WOR. Hey,
- 0:08Speaker 1: we'll take some calls, 800-321-0710 is the number. If you're
- 0:15Speaker 1: a Democrat, cover your ears. Oil is down again, down
- 0:20Speaker 1: $ 5 a barrel right now, down to $ 95. Anyway, let's
- 0:23Speaker 1: take some calls. Let's go to John in, is it Greenridge,
- 0:28Speaker 1: New Jersey?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Cambridge, New Jersey, yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Where do you people come up with these names in
- 0:33Speaker 1: New Jersey?
- 0:35Speaker 4: I know.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Well, it's a beautiful area. Yeah, the reason I'm calling
- 0:40Speaker 3: is that I was concerned that during the collapse of
- 0:44Speaker 3: the United States, USSR, they lost track of 88 nuclear
- 0:52Speaker 3: suitcase weapons.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but you have nothing to worry about. Nothing to
- 0:57Speaker 1: worry about. the material in that, uh, in those nuclear
- 1:00Speaker 1: suitcases is totally expired and doesn't work anymore. Sure.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Positive. Every scientific scientist, nuclear expert said there's a shelf
- 1:09Speaker 1: life on that material in there. It doesn't work anymore. Okay.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm glad to hear.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14Speaker 1: That's, they used to scare everybody with that when they
- 1:16Speaker 1: lost the suitcase. It's called a suitcase nuke. You can
- 1:20Speaker 1: carry it on your back and it's a small nuclear weapon. Uh,
- 1:24Speaker 1: the material in them is degraded though. And, uh, It
- 1:27Speaker 1: was also believed at the time that anybody trying to
- 1:30Speaker 1: use one would end up blowing themselves up or radiating
- 1:33Speaker 1: themselves to death. You've got to be really trained to
- 1:36Speaker 1: handle one of those. Let's go to Mara in Nevada. Mara,
- 1:41Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 1:42Speaker 2: So good. Thank you, God. Mark, I'm talking about First Amendment.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You can say what you want. No fire in a theater. However,
- 1:50Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran even said he wanted to keep a safe
- 1:53Speaker 2: space in his concerts. And then Macklemore can shout, free Palestine,
- 2:00Speaker 2: creating problems and threats in the theater? No, you can't
- 2:04Speaker 2: just say no fire, no free Palestine, no Kilmandani, none
- 2:08Speaker 2: of that stuff in the crowded theater. What do you think?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I agree. I agree. In fact, first of all, your insurance,
- 2:13Speaker 1: shut the hell up. Nobody cares what you think about
- 2:15Speaker 1: any of this. But thanks for calling. Hey, where are
- 2:18Speaker 1: all the calls? Nobody's calling today. Is it the holiday?
- 2:22Speaker 1: Is it UN week? I don't know. It is open lines, 800-
- 2:26Speaker 1: 321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710. Hey, speaking of movie theaters
- 2:34Speaker 1: yelling fire, it's aggravating in a movie theater when somebody's
- 2:38Speaker 1: on their phone. But this guy's in the movie theater,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and the guy in the next row in front of
- 2:44Speaker 1: him is on the phone, but he's not talking. He's
- 2:48Speaker 1: just looking at his phone, and apparently he had the
- 2:50Speaker 1: screen brightness turned down a little bit. but he was
- 2:54Speaker 1: looking at his phone and this other guy kept telling
- 2:56Speaker 1: him to turn it off, kept yelling at him to
- 2:58Speaker 1: turn it off. And the guy wouldn't turn it off.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So this guy finally took out pepper spray and sprayed
- 3:05Speaker 1: the guy pepper spray in a middle of a movie
- 3:09Speaker 1: theater while, while the movie is on. So, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 1: this pepper spray is pretty ugly stuff. So everybody got
- 3:16Speaker 1: up and it couldn't take the smell and it was,
- 3:18Speaker 1: it's bad for people. And they kept running out of
- 3:20Speaker 1: the movie theater, uh, They all saw the guy that
- 3:24Speaker 1: did it. They saw him spray the guy. And the
- 3:27Speaker 1: guy was smart enough to run away. But police eventually,
- 3:31Speaker 1: witnesses came forward. Police caught him. He's now in custody,
- 3:35Speaker 1: arrested and booked. This is in Burbank, California. Misdemeanor battery.
- 3:40Speaker 1: The theater offered to refund everybody's money. Let's take some calls.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Let's go to line one. How you doing? Who is this? Hey, Mark,
- 3:51Speaker 1: it's Steve Manhattan, baby. Oh, it's the same guy.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Who supported that? I know. Go Buchanan or whatever it is.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Let's go to line four. How you doing?
- 4:02Speaker 3: Yes, hi. This is Mike from Queens. I am not
- 4:06Speaker 3: horrified by the gasoline prices in New York City, and
- 4:09Speaker 3: I'm a yellow cab driver, and I think it's a
- 4:10Speaker 3: huge hype job.
- 4:12Speaker 4: There's a lot of real in it, but I think
- 4:14Speaker 4: it's grossly overrated.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's... Gas prices are high right now, but
- 4:19Speaker 1: they're not as high as the Joe Biden days. They're
- 4:21Speaker 1: nowhere near that. But it's a big, big thing to
- 4:25Speaker 1: get Trump with and try to hurt Republicans in the midterms.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So it's all you read about the gas prices, the
- 4:31Speaker 1: gas prices, the gas prices. You notice that story came
- 4:34Speaker 1: out today. Americans are making more money now. Average American
- 4:39Speaker 1: income is at the highest level ever. They don't report that.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Poverty level, lowest rate ever. They don't report that. They
- 4:46Speaker 1: just keep yelling about gas prices just to affect the midterms.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Let's go to Dave, Mahwah, New Jersey. Dave, how you doing? Good, Mark.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Thank you. I just wanted to let you know, because
- 4:58Speaker 4: I haven't really heard this one out there, but I
- 5:00Speaker 4: saw Mellencamp about a month ago, and he had a
- 5:03Speaker 4: lot of political rants during the show. As a matter
- 5:05Speaker 4: of fact, the first song he sang was a new
- 5:08Speaker 4: song about the Trump administration, you know, against the Trump administration.
- 5:13Speaker 4: So I just want it to be known that Mellencamp
- 5:15Speaker 4: is also one of these.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a bunch of these idiots, Bruce Springsteen and
- 5:19Speaker 1: the other ones. First of all, who would want their
- 5:23Speaker 1: opinion on any political issue? You know, Mellencamp, if you
- 5:27Speaker 1: needed advice on who makes the best guitar pick, I
- 5:32Speaker 1: would ask Mellencamp. If I wanted to know about which
- 5:34Speaker 1: guitar to get, I'd ask Bruce Springsteen. If I wanted
- 5:36Speaker 1: to know about foreign policy, I don't think I'd turn
- 5:39Speaker 1: to Bruce Springsteen for that. Let's go to Joe Colonia,
- 5:42Speaker 1: New Jersey. Joe, how are you doing?
- 5:46Speaker 4: Hey, Mark.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I'm doing great. First, I just want to let you
- 5:48Speaker 3: know that thanks to you, I no longer squeeze my teabags. Oh, yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That's very important. Everybody dunks the teabag for a couple minutes.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Then at the end, they take the spoon and they
- 5:58Speaker 1: press the teabag and squeeze out what the experts say
- 6:01Speaker 1: that's the worst thing you can do. It brings out
- 6:04Speaker 1: the bitter stuff. There's stuff in the teabag that tastes great.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That's what you want in the tea. There's also stuff
- 6:09Speaker 1: in there that tastes awful. It's bitter. You don't want that.
- 6:13Speaker 1: If you squeeze it, that stuff starts coming out. And
- 6:15Speaker 1: you've noticed a difference?
- 6:18Speaker 3: I've got to be honest. I don't notice a difference,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but I just don't.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I don't really either. I don't really either.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah, why put all that extra stuff in there like
- 6:27Speaker 3: you said?
- 6:28Speaker 1: It does something to help the flow of it, to
- 6:30Speaker 1: help the other stuff flow out. But it's made to
- 6:34Speaker 1: stay in the teabag while the other stuff flows out.
- 6:36Speaker 1: If you squeeze the teabag. the bad stuff starts to
- 6:40Speaker 1: flow out. One more call. Let's go to Neil in Brooklyn. Neil,
- 6:43Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 6:44Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 5: What irked me about the press is like going Trump's
- 6:53Speaker 5: first term, like you, there would be early in the
- 6:56Speaker 5: day and be reported that Hispanic businessmen from.
- 6:59Speaker 1: All over the world. There's a lot of preamble here.
- 7:00Speaker 1: What's the point you want to make?
- 7:02Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:03Speaker 5: The point I want to make is, Sometimes I'll see
- 7:06Speaker 5: a story earlier in the day, and you figure it's
- 7:08Speaker 5: going to be on the 630 news.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Is there any point? We don't have much time here.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Is there a point you want to make?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:17Speaker 5: The point is.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Go right to it.
- 7:19Speaker 5: They ignore stories. That's all.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Well, that's as we say it. Again, story comes out
- 7:24Speaker 1: this week. Lowest poverty rate ever. Highest income ever for
- 7:28Speaker 1: the average American. They don't report it. A lot of
- 7:30Speaker 1: stuff they just don't report. Oh, when we come back, the...
- 7:34Speaker 1: best columnist in America, Michael Goodwin. He'll be with us
- 7:38Speaker 1: next on 710WOR.
