- 0:33Speaker 2: Our special guest is Stuke Grimson.
- 0:35Speaker 1: He could beat the crap out of us, but he's
- 0:36Speaker 1: got great stories from his entire career and he's a lawyer,
- 0:39Speaker 1: so clearly.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Stud's a smart guy.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Plus he once did Jason dirty when it came to
- 0:43Speaker 1: the movie Tombstone.
- 0:44Speaker 2: We'll get into that. I'm your huckle Bayer. But it
- 0:46Speaker 2: is NHL the Scriptive Finals time. Baby.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We're posting again Mondays and Thursdays from the Stanley Cup
- 0:51Speaker 1: Final and JD is there Boots in the ground which
- 0:53Speaker 1: is watching him right now? NHL Tonight with Pat Maroon
- 0:56Speaker 1: and Catherine Tappan and Mike Johnson.
- 0:57Speaker 2: JD, you're there right now.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And as I said, it was one of the most
- 0:59Speaker 1: exciting games you'll ever see Stanley Cup hockey history, unbelievable.
- 1:02Speaker 2: What was it like for you?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's crazy it's you know, it was a
- 1:08Speaker 3: great spectacle they put on. You know, everything's a show here,
- 1:11Speaker 3: and I thought the atmosphere was good. I still think,
- 1:14Speaker 3: you know, the atmosphere in Edmonton my first two years
- 1:18Speaker 3: watching and covering the Stanley Cup Finals, it's almost impossible
- 1:23Speaker 3: to beat that. But yeah, it was a crazy games
- 1:27Speaker 3: on crack, you know. You know, Mitch Marner puts on
- 1:29Speaker 3: historic second period, just incredible what he was doing, and
- 1:35Speaker 3: you're we're sitting there like Carolina could not have played worse,
- 1:40Speaker 3: like that was the worst second period by a team
- 1:43Speaker 3: I think I've ever seen by decorp turnovers, goaltending so bad,
- 1:47Speaker 3: so you think that it's over. And I even tweeted it,
- 1:52Speaker 3: and I think I was sitting with Patty Maroon, and
- 1:54Speaker 3: Patty Maroon like tweeted something that Maple Leafs fans being
- 1:57Speaker 3: like how we feel in Toronto.
- 2:00Speaker 4: And then Carolina proceeds to.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Slowly claw their way back in three goals and in
- 2:05Speaker 3: thirty nine seconds, We're all sitting there like, what the
- 2:08Speaker 3: hell is going on? Because it's such a sloppy series.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I feel like it's it's it's sloppy and it seems disorganized,
- 2:15Speaker 3: but yet it's entertaining. It's such a great series for
- 2:19Speaker 3: the fans. But if you're kind of like a guy
- 2:22Speaker 3: that played or a purist, you're just kind of cringing
- 2:25Speaker 3: half the game because you're like, oh, it was a
- 2:27Speaker 3: bad play, but you know what.
- 2:30Speaker 4: A crazy game.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And then you go into overtime and I mean eventually
- 2:35Speaker 3: it's Shay Theodore from a pass from Brady McNabb who's
- 2:38Speaker 3: playing with the broken face. Just so many different storylines
- 2:43Speaker 3: in this game, and and and the way for it
- 2:47Speaker 3: was only fitting that the goal to go in at
- 2:49Speaker 3: end was one off the wall, off the skate of
- 2:52Speaker 3: bread and Bussy. And now you have all these question
- 2:54Speaker 3: marks going into game four of who starts a net
- 2:58Speaker 3: and what do they do with the lines, and Vegas
- 3:02Speaker 3: just seems to kind of be chugging along and not
- 3:05Speaker 3: changing anything. But yeah, it's it's been sloppy, but like
- 3:08Speaker 3: I said, entertaining for fans.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 3:11Speaker 1: If you're a purist, you're going, oh my god, the
- 3:13Speaker 1: devil's in the details. The details are not being made.
- 3:15Speaker 1: But among the storylines and a few that you touched
- 3:17Speaker 1: on there. Braden mcnapp played thirty five forty seven with
- 3:19Speaker 1: a cage and Freddie, yeah, I mean over thirty five
- 3:23Speaker 1: minutes is nuts, and he got rushed to the hospital.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Mitch Marner scoring three goals in six y ten that's
- 3:27Speaker 1: the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup final history. Well
- 3:30Speaker 1: he talked more about bussy, but you're right, Freddie gets
- 3:32Speaker 1: pulled after what's been a great post season. He gets
- 3:34Speaker 1: pulled it for forty minutes and end up time the
- 3:36Speaker 1: game and then the Shay Theatre game winner in double overtime. Well,
- 3:38Speaker 1: leading all skaters almost forty minutes of ice time. I mean,
- 3:42Speaker 1: those baffling numbers all over the place. Tal for you,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you've watched hockey for forty years, what stood out to
- 3:46Speaker 1: you most of that game? Three Carolina's brasilience. How about
- 3:49Speaker 1: Sean mcdone on the third goal? Just be goes, this
- 3:51Speaker 1: is incredible. It was awesome.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I just I added a couple of friends who were
- 3:56Speaker 5: at the game, and they said that the the emotional
- 3:59Speaker 5: toll as Vegas fans was just unbelievable. And they're and
- 4:04Speaker 5: then they're main takeaway at the end of the game.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Actually they all I do, three guys of the game,
- 4:08Speaker 5: they also the same thing. Thank god, we got Mitch Marner.
- 4:11Speaker 5: They love this guy. This guy is the King of
- 4:13Speaker 5: Vegas right now. They are so thrilled that he's on
- 4:16Speaker 5: their team.
- 4:18Speaker 4: You know, there's so much to take away there.
- 4:21Speaker 5: For me, it's like, it's the first rule of any
- 4:24Speaker 5: NHL playoff game, especially in the finals, that goes past
- 4:27Speaker 5: the first overtime, the game winner is always ugly.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Always, it's always just some you know, it's a Hail
- 4:34Speaker 4: Mary from the blue line.
- 4:35Speaker 5: It's a bounce off the boards, it's a you know,
- 4:38Speaker 5: it's it's it's Patrick Kane and Michael Layton, right, It's
- 4:41Speaker 5: just always just if it goes past the first overtime period,
- 4:45Speaker 5: it's always an ugly one. I mean, I think for
- 4:47Speaker 5: me this is and JD you can back me up
- 4:50Speaker 5: on this. Since you were there. Everyone I've seen comment
- 4:52Speaker 5: on who is in the building says this may be
- 4:54Speaker 5: one of the best games they've ever attended live.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Yeah, you got a lot of those people.
- 5:00Speaker 3: And like I said, the pure chaos of it, I
- 5:03Speaker 3: think is what made it incredible. There's like two Golden
- 5:06Speaker 3: Knights fans sitting in front of us, this young kid
- 5:09Speaker 3: and he turns around after the second and he goes,
- 5:13Speaker 3: he goes Demurs, he goes Carolina and seven, aha, fuck
- 5:19Speaker 3: you Knights and Knights in five and he starts laughing
- 5:22Speaker 3: it is four nothing, and I'm like, you're probably right,
- 5:25Speaker 3: and it's four to four and this kids have it.
- 5:27Speaker 3: He's going through it, just going through and he's sweating.
- 5:30Speaker 3: He's turning around looking at me, going like, the refs
- 5:33Speaker 3: are screwing us, the refs are screwing us. And I
- 5:36Speaker 3: was like, dude, this is just this is just the
- 5:39Speaker 3: trials and tribulations of a being a hockey fan in
- 5:42Speaker 3: the Stanley Cup Finals. But yeah, it's you got to
- 5:46Speaker 3: feel better if you're Vegas in that game, obviously because
- 5:51Speaker 3: you're up to one. But if you're Carolina, like you're
- 5:53Speaker 3: still like, we haven't gotten to our game for sixty minutes,
- 5:58Speaker 3: let alone forty five minutes in any the one hockey game. Like,
- 6:02Speaker 3: if we figure it out, we can win this thing.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So I gotta think the beliefs there and it's just
- 6:08Speaker 3: going to be, you know, the two days after they're
- 6:11Speaker 3: getting and what's Rod Brendan We're going to do with
- 6:14Speaker 3: net is going to be the big thing, right.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, overall I was listening to Britndan Moore on NHL Network.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Rady was talking about count Treamailler leaving Game three the
- 6:20Speaker 1: first overtime William Carey plays ten shis for leaving. It's
- 6:23Speaker 1: obviously now must winning, so we haven't gotten the good
- 6:25Speaker 1: thing that is a couple of days off in terms
- 6:26Speaker 1: of is Bussy going to play in game four on Tuesday?
- 6:29Speaker 2: But that really I think is the major story.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And I would think if I am Rod Brendan Wore,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I would go with Bussy, which because to me, jdiots
- 6:36Speaker 1: a must win and Freddie hasn't been as strong in
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Cup final. I know he's in a remarkable postseason,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but he has not been as good. And the rally
- 6:44Speaker 1: and the comeback did be game with Busty in game four,
- 6:47Speaker 1: So I do think it's risky in some ways, but
- 6:49Speaker 1: I personally would go with Bussy in game four.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Tallied something else asked with the question of the game.
- 6:54Speaker 4: My only question.
- 6:55Speaker 5: I was just curious, what do you think now if
- 6:57Speaker 5: you're the Hurricanes, Like, are you.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Are you bummed about the lost opportunity? Oh?
- 7:04Speaker 5: Yeah, you thrilled that you came back from a four
- 7:06Speaker 5: nothing deficit, Yeah, it thrilled you. Can you know, like
- 7:09Speaker 5: what's their headspace with the xtra day now heading into
- 7:11Speaker 5: Game four.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Well, Brendan Moore said it.
- 7:13Speaker 3: He's like, there's no moral victories, Like it doesn't matter
- 7:16Speaker 3: in the Stanley Cup finals or you know, any playoff game.
- 7:20Speaker 3: It doesn't matter how bad you play or good you play.
- 7:22Speaker 3: It's a win or loss. Like you're trying to get
- 7:24Speaker 3: the win, like they got that win and you're happy
- 7:26Speaker 3: because you found a way, right. So so to me,
- 7:29Speaker 3: Brendan Moore is just like, listen, it feels shitty, it's awful.
- 7:32Speaker 3: He was pissed, I guess after the game, but you know,
- 7:35Speaker 3: you have the good thing is they have the two
- 7:36Speaker 3: days off, the rest and listen, Brendan Bussey's won thirty
- 7:41Speaker 3: one games this year.
- 7:43Speaker 4: He's streaky, Like it's not like.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He's We talked about it on the NHL tonight, like
- 7:49Speaker 3: they were going into this playoffs being like we're probably
- 7:51Speaker 3: going to have a two headed monster, but Freddy's just
- 7:55Speaker 3: played fantastic up until this point, so they didn't have
- 8:00Speaker 3: to go to that.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Now they have to.
- 8:03Speaker 3: So it's like, I think people maybe overthinking the decision.
- 8:06Speaker 3: And even I was, I was like, oh, you got
- 8:08Speaker 3: to go back to Freddy. But I'm like, wait a minute,
- 8:09Speaker 3: Like they were fully prepared to play bussy all series long,
- 8:14Speaker 3: and Freddy kind of and Freddy was it has been
- 8:17Speaker 3: in years past, just this kind of goalie that does
- 8:20Speaker 3: fall asleep and get fatigued.
- 8:22Speaker 4: And that's why they had Bussy. And he came in.
- 8:24Speaker 4: He'd win some hockey games.
- 8:25Speaker 3: This year, and so I just think it's gonna be
- 8:28Speaker 3: it's going to be bussy. But yeah, you know, you
- 8:31Speaker 3: touch on it quickly at and then the Miller and
- 8:34Speaker 3: count you know, Miller was all game, was getting his
- 8:38Speaker 3: back work done. You could see him in between every whistle.
- 8:42Speaker 3: He didn't look good. It looked like he had a backspasm.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And then William Carrey a you know, unfortunate injury. Like
- 8:49Speaker 3: it's two big pieces down and Vegas was just running
- 8:52Speaker 3: the shit out of them. Early in that game, he
- 8:55Speaker 3: was They're just hitting everything that moved. So it's gonna
- 8:58Speaker 3: be uh something to watch if they keep the physicality
- 9:02Speaker 3: up and Carolina is able to sustain it withstand it.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Nate Thompson among those who was winded just after watching
- 9:10Speaker 1: the game. That's why Nate is not with us today
- 9:11Speaker 1: and I'll be remissed by not mention. Jason Newersey now
- 9:14Speaker 1: clearly is battling it cold. I was watching in NHL
- 9:16Speaker 1: tonight it's gonna be battling a raspy throat. And even now,
- 9:19Speaker 1: JD you seem a little parks Is it just a
- 9:20Speaker 1: tickle in the throat?
- 9:21Speaker 2: What's going on with you? You're still a little rasper
- 9:25Speaker 2: of the norse Kathleen Turner, right now.
- 9:27Speaker 3: It's getting it's getting pulled to go see the chain
- 9:29Speaker 3: smokers the first night here and then literally feeling like
- 9:33Speaker 3: I chain smoked myself that dry Vegas air, that dry
- 9:38Speaker 3: Vegas air. But you know, once I get on air,
- 9:40Speaker 3: was I rast that rasp rast?
- 9:42Speaker 2: I was watching that. I was surprised. My guy seems
- 9:43Speaker 2: a little little mellow the normal. He's a little raspect.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I think he's nouner the weather.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Actually my phone, fucking Christ, He's Louise, come on, Jason,
- 9:50Speaker 3: it's all right.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Then, Pat Maroon, I mean he said, he goes, this
- 9:53Speaker 1: is the best Taly Cup finals I've ever seen. I
- 9:54Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, just an outrageous statement.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It's like in baseball, it's entertaining. What it's back and forth,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but there's twelve airs. Like, well, it's not great baseball,
- 10:03Speaker 1: so like I I can't call the race, like if
- 10:05Speaker 1: I've seen like sloppy.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Yeah great though, Yeah Patty, Yeah he just throw he
- 10:10Speaker 3: threw it out there.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Patty threw it out. He laid it out for them
- 10:13Speaker 4: to play it out. Yeah. Now it's it's it's tough.
- 10:18Speaker 4: It's really you kind of.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Look at the game and you're like, oh, mistake, mistake, mistake.
- 10:22Speaker 3: But yeah, looking through the lens of a fan, you're like,
- 10:26Speaker 3: this is this is exciting, exciting hockey. And the fact
- 10:30Speaker 3: that it's you know in Vegas and the way they
- 10:33Speaker 3: put on the games and the show and you know,
- 10:36Speaker 3: they had Nick Carter spinning the siren and then they
- 10:39Speaker 3: had some I didn't know because you know, you I
- 10:44Speaker 3: haven't seen many games lot.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Well, you know, I played against.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Vegas, but I never realized that they do a siren
- 10:49Speaker 3: person for every period. And I was like during the
- 10:54Speaker 3: double overtime and they had with the drummer of simple plan, Yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 3: like what if it goes to like three or four overtimes?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Who they bringing out like like a show girl or
- 11:04Speaker 3: except like a prost like who didn't come out.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Field, he's just his good disappear.
- 11:12Speaker 3: His magical ass is just gonna appear, and just Chris Angel. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 3: but I didn't know, so that was pretty funny. I
- 11:19Speaker 3: was just like, simple plan, like this is what they're
- 11:22Speaker 3: They're going to the well right now, big time.
- 11:25Speaker 1: One last thought on the atmosphere, because I remember talking
- 11:27Speaker 1: to Amazon Prime guys. You know, everyone knows there's no
- 11:29Speaker 1: better place to watch a hockey game in Canada the Montreal.
- 11:32Speaker 2: What's the US equivalent?
- 11:33Speaker 1: And each of the guys go on, you know, Boston's
- 11:34Speaker 1: great when it's rolling Madison Square Garden. You talked to
- 11:36Speaker 1: the fact that lighting, you know, someone hit or miss depends.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Philly can be great if you know, if the team's good.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Chicago and then shee and he goes off. Vegas is
- 11:43Speaker 1: the basket. Hang on a second, you're telling me Vegas
- 11:45Speaker 1: is the Montreal of America. I got a Montreal, the
- 11:47Speaker 1: atmosphere of the prestige, the fans, you know they're gonna
- 11:50Speaker 1: tell me Vegas because I'm just telling you, if you
- 11:52Speaker 1: go to watch a hockey game in Vegas, you'd be
- 11:54Speaker 1: blown away by it. But it's not just gimmicky and silly.
- 11:56Speaker 1: He goes, No, it's a great atmosphere, is that true. Yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 1: it's loud.
- 11:59Speaker 3: You know, you can't when you say prestige and stuff
- 12:03Speaker 3: like that, right, you know it kind of knocks and
- 12:06Speaker 3: not yeah, knocks San Jose out of it, because like
- 12:08Speaker 3: San Jose say, is probably the loudest building when it's
- 12:10Speaker 3: rocking in the States.
- 12:13Speaker 4: But yeah, it's loud. It's loud. It's good.
- 12:15Speaker 3: I mean, you're we were talking. I interviewed Shane Nidy
- 12:19Speaker 3: for the Stanley Cup Live and you know, it's so
- 12:22Speaker 3: funny because you're like, you know that classic saying of
- 12:27Speaker 3: you just you don't know you're in the good times.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I wish I knew it was in the good times
- 12:31Speaker 3: when I was in him and because they're gone and
- 12:33Speaker 3: passed and I probably butchered that quote. But yes, yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 3: but thanks buddy, appreciate it. Go buck yourself.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Uh, I'm battling my ass off here right.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Now, six am, right now, six am.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Battling.
- 12:52Speaker 3: No listen, and the way they pilfered the expansion draft
- 12:57Speaker 3: and the way they've operated, I mean, the fan base
- 13:01Speaker 3: here still in its infancy, like they have no idea
- 13:06Speaker 3: what a drought is of like, you know, they think
- 13:08Speaker 3: this is how hockey is, Like you're just in the finals.
- 13:11Speaker 3: It's the most arrogant fan base in the world being like, yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 3: we're just always gonna win because Vegas is great.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Like I cannot wait.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Who's who told me we were sitting up to Like,
- 13:20Speaker 3: I can't wait till they it's because it's gonna happen.
- 13:23Speaker 2: It has to happen. Ye can't speak good forever? Years? Yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 2: like three or.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Four yeah, three or four years, or you're finishing at
- 13:30Speaker 3: the bottom of the division. I want to see where
- 13:31Speaker 3: this fucking oh yeah, this great atmosphere goes.
- 13:36Speaker 2: You know, it's talis and you can't beat the building
- 13:40Speaker 2: location at the very least. So that is good.
- 13:42Speaker 4: That's great. Downtown sow you build a franchise.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Nashville as well. Of course they got the right
- 13:46Speaker 2: downtown as well.
- 13:47Speaker 1: All Right, we moved from the Cup file over to
- 13:49Speaker 1: some other hockey news wing stop major news last week.
- 13:52Speaker 1: They're apart from multiple Storces Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin's
- 13:55Speaker 1: request to treat it out of hockey town. Larkin Lee's
- 13:57Speaker 1: All Red Wings and Points is coming into the league
- 13:59Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, has spent his entire life playing in Michigan,
- 14:03Speaker 1: University of Michigan, the Red Wings course development program.
- 14:05Speaker 2: What was just mean for the Redpens stradi This is
- 14:07Speaker 2: a slap of the face.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I would think Tylon Larkin's your boy, the guy like
- 14:10Speaker 1: he is Detroit Zone. He's gonna I'm tired of shit,
- 14:12Speaker 1: iSER plan Seya.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I wonder what that group chat was with that team
- 14:19Speaker 3: USA team that was probably the biggest. Every GM's probably
- 14:22Speaker 3: like fuck this goddamn stupid ass Olympics.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Now it's all collusion. If you go here, I'm going
- 14:31Speaker 2: to here.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Well, I think we're gonna see in the next year
- 14:34Speaker 3: or two kind of the first I'm trying to think,
- 14:36Speaker 3: has there ever been like a super team kind of
- 14:39Speaker 3: like in the NBA, we're gonna see like a first
- 14:40Speaker 3: super team, Like yeah, maybe Vegas, but yeah, this, I
- 14:45Speaker 3: think Larkin just they just weren't on the same path.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I think he he was hoping that they'd be in
- 14:51Speaker 3: a different position. I mean, what a contract, Dylan Larkin
- 14:56Speaker 3: eight point seven million for five years, Like you can't
- 14:59Speaker 3: beat that for a two C borderline one see obviously,
- 15:04Speaker 3: but but man, I could see like a Vegas keating
- 15:07Speaker 3: them too. You look at like this is like prime
- 15:10Speaker 3: for Vegas. You got that hurdle contract, you got Doro Fiev.
- 15:14Speaker 3: You move those guys for Dylan Larkin. But you know,
- 15:18Speaker 3: because I can't see eisermen trading them out East. There's
- 15:22Speaker 3: no way especially if it yeah, well like he's not
- 15:26Speaker 3: going to help anybody out. But it's uh, it's interesting
- 15:31Speaker 3: because we talked to Elliot Friedman yesterday and he said,
- 15:34Speaker 3: there's no that the power the players kind of wheeled.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It's pretty interesting. We're seeing this now of players demanding
- 15:45Speaker 3: more in terms of trades, and top players specifically. But
- 15:49Speaker 3: it's worked out for all these guys, like you know,
- 15:51Speaker 3: you you say the saying the grass isn't always greener.
- 15:55Speaker 3: It's been greener for all these guys that look at
- 15:57Speaker 3: Mitch Marner. Like Mitch Marner, everybody in the league's like,
- 16:00Speaker 3: oh wow, this is what happens when you kind of
- 16:03Speaker 3: you know, work over a franchise, like you win.
- 16:06Speaker 4: A Cup year one. He's got a chance to win
- 16:09Speaker 4: a Cup.
- 16:09Speaker 3: He's give me the con smythe So Dylan Larkin's probably
- 16:12Speaker 3: saying the same thing. Jack Eichel goes to the Olympics.
- 16:16Speaker 3: All these guys start talking, they go this, this is
- 16:18Speaker 3: the way you get treated. So Larkin's probably like, yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 3: get me out of cold Detroit, put me into the Sun.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Because the two things the three teams I'd put is Utah,
- 16:32Speaker 3: Vegas and Anaheim as a team said a little star
- 16:36Speaker 3: power went on, they can be the face of the franchise.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I like that Utah call. Yeah they got they got
- 16:40Speaker 3: the assets too. And but I could see like an
- 16:42Speaker 3: Austin Matthews going to Utah, Like, I think we're gonna
- 16:45Speaker 3: see some big names traded in the next year or two,
- 16:48Speaker 3: some really big names all from Team USA.
- 16:51Speaker 2: It's crazy to think, speaking of trades. I mean, there
- 16:53Speaker 2: was all the rumors right Toronto Montreal had a deal
- 16:55Speaker 2: to deadline. What was it?
- 16:56Speaker 1: Now we get the news Matthew Nis one minute short
- 16:59Speaker 1: of being shipped to the Habs. I probably the least
- 17:01Speaker 1: would have gotten back prospect Alexander Zorowski, two first round
- 17:05Speaker 1: picks another prospect. The deal never went through, sixty seconds
- 17:09Speaker 1: past the official deadline, it was submitted to the league,
- 17:11Speaker 1: so hapsham Ken Hughes allegedly cussed out then leaves Jim
- 17:15Speaker 1: bradstre Living insisting he honored the deal. This summer, I
- 17:18Speaker 1: want to issue True Living is gone. So that looks
- 17:20Speaker 1: the nice deal is officially dead. How wild this news?
- 17:23Speaker 1: Jad this doesn't happen. Habs leaves don't make trades. This
- 17:26Speaker 1: would have been unbelievable. Matthew NY's gonna trade and it's
- 17:28Speaker 1: not gonna happen.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I think Hughes is gonna be pretty happy that it
- 17:31Speaker 3: didn't happen because Zarowski two first round picks, another prospect.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'm all for selling the future, but this is enough
- 17:40Speaker 3: for Matthew NY's anthey and is a great player. But
- 17:44Speaker 3: it's not like you're That's like something i'd be proposing
- 17:47Speaker 3: for Dylan Larkin, you know what I mean. So but yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 3: Tree Living just this guy just came in and just said,
- 17:56Speaker 3: screw it. I'm just gonna do my own thing. Get
- 17:59Speaker 3: fired on the way out. He's asked him to honor
- 18:03Speaker 3: the deal. Man, He's like, imagine he's on the phone
- 18:05Speaker 3: being like, what do you want? They're coming up here
- 18:06Speaker 3: to fire me. I get a meeting in an hour.
- 18:08Speaker 4: What do you want?
- 18:11Speaker 6: Just give me a job with the HAPs Yeah, tell Gordon,
- 18:13Speaker 6: give me a job. What do you guys want Do
- 18:15Speaker 6: you want Austin Matthews for two and or grand to me?
- 18:17Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'll make it happen. One last top before we get
- 18:21Speaker 1: to our friend Stug Gramson. Vassi gets to Vesna. Andre
- 18:24Speaker 1: Vasklovski winning his second Vesna. You know, Ilio sarrokn and
- 18:27Speaker 1: Jeremy swimming for the honor, earning seventeen and thirty one
- 18:30Speaker 1: first place votes. It's the longest gap between Vesna wins
- 18:33Speaker 1: is the NHL started giving it to the league's best
- 18:35Speaker 1: individual goalie in nineteen eighty two. Tampa is still looking
- 18:39Speaker 1: for its first playoffs ther he wins is twenty twenty two.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I know Vassi has been great jd in the postseason,
- 18:43Speaker 1: even this year, last year, but in terms of top
- 18:45Speaker 1: goalies in the league, he's still what top three, top five?
- 18:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he's still there. I mean, first ballot Hall of Famer.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I think he had a great, healthy year. They had
- 18:56Speaker 3: a good season. It's disappointing they lost to him on Atreal,
- 18:58Speaker 3: but I just think for the season they had, with
- 19:02Speaker 3: all the injuries they had, I mean, it was it
- 19:06Speaker 3: was a classic Vassilevski year and it was nice to
- 19:10Speaker 3: see him kind of bounce back and Sorokin kind of
- 19:15Speaker 3: Sorokin had it in my mind early on.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Yeah, lost to late oscillate Swimon as well.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Great season, but yeah, Vassie Vassie was was just picture
- 19:27Speaker 3: not picture perfect.
- 19:28Speaker 4: But at Dimes it was.
- 19:30Speaker 3: It was the it was the dynasty Vassilevski that had won,
- 19:35Speaker 3: you know, back to back Stanley Cups.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I still think if you tell me the best
- 19:38Speaker 1: boys in the league, it's Talabucks, A Stirkins, Bobrovsky when
- 19:42Speaker 1: those guys are still in the mix. But obviously Vaskolevski
- 19:44Speaker 1: is one of those guys as well. One more topic
- 19:46Speaker 1: before we get to Stup Grimson. This is perfect for
- 19:48Speaker 1: our man JD. Joe Pavelski. According to multiple sources, the
- 19:52Speaker 1: future Hall of Famer is on the maple LEAs radar
- 19:54Speaker 1: as a team begins the next phase. It's interview process,
- 19:57Speaker 1: with one describing him as a Mark Tanse tay Luis style.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Canada love that. No one's yawning at that. JA would
- 20:04Speaker 1: Joe Pavowski make a great coach in Toronto? They're not
- 20:06Speaker 1: gonna get David carl He's really like f you guys,
- 20:09Speaker 1: He's not interested. David Carl does Toronto. What about Pavolski,
- 20:12Speaker 1: This would be a real wildker. First, Chaika, now Pavowski.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yes, Like like David, Carl's funny to me, just tickling
- 20:19Speaker 3: everybody's taint. Oh, it's like, you're not going to go
- 20:22Speaker 3: anywhere and just stay in college. Why are you going
- 20:24Speaker 3: to leave the nest right, you know? For anything less
- 20:27Speaker 3: than eight million or whatever? He's what number he wants?
- 20:31Speaker 3: Who knows, but yeah, PAVs listen, it's it's I heard
- 20:36Speaker 3: he's was considering it and they called him and everybody
- 20:42Speaker 3: thought why because he's playing on this golf circuit right now,
- 20:46Speaker 3: he's making money, he's coaching his kid, he's got his
- 20:51Speaker 3: house in Wisconsin.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Life's good, there's nothing.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Why would you throw yourself into that market, have your
- 20:57Speaker 3: kid be going to school, have parents all, you know,
- 21:02Speaker 3: having the question marks in that market too, where it's
- 21:08Speaker 3: you're really just a glutton for punishment. So I I
- 21:12Speaker 3: don't know why, but you know, Mike Johnson said something.
- 21:15Speaker 4: It was great too.
- 21:16Speaker 3: He's like, listen because Mike, Mike Johnson's insulated in that
- 21:19Speaker 3: community like that. That's he knows more about Toronto than
- 21:22Speaker 3: I think anybody. And he said, He's like, they interviewed
- 21:26Speaker 3: fifty five candidates, so they could be just casting a
- 21:29Speaker 3: wide net and it's kind of greasy. But they're probably
- 21:33Speaker 3: just bringing these people in like a Pavelski and saying like,
- 21:35Speaker 3: what do you think we're missing?
- 21:37Speaker 4: You tell me, and they're just sitting there taking out.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Exactly taking notes.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Ye, people realize, oh you would trade Austin for what
- 21:44Speaker 3: a first and a yeah, okay, maybe a third?
- 21:47Speaker 4: All right, okay, cool, cool, cool, cool cool, good, thank you.
- 21:49Speaker 2: We'll call you back.
- 21:51Speaker 4: We'll call you back in a bit. But you know,
- 21:54Speaker 4: I don't.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I guess Marty Saint Luis kind of opens up for
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know, it opens up the door for teams to
- 22:03Speaker 3: be a little bit more creative with the guys are
- 22:04Speaker 3: bringing in and bringing in the next player. So PAVs
- 22:06Speaker 3: would be listen, when I played with him, he's he's
- 22:09Speaker 3: a hockey nerd.
- 22:10Speaker 4: He's a smart guy. He understands the game.
- 22:13Speaker 3: He loves the game more than you know, anyone I've seen,
- 22:17Speaker 3: or as much as anybody I've seen that that is
- 22:20Speaker 3: just addicted to it. So you know, I could see
- 22:23Speaker 3: him coming in and really helping a franchise a team
- 22:28Speaker 3: because I think he would. I think he would be
- 22:30Speaker 3: a positive impact anywhere you put him in a franchise
- 22:33Speaker 3: or an organization. But I just don't know if head
- 22:38Speaker 3: coach would be it. Maybe assistant, But it's worked out
- 22:40Speaker 3: for Marty. I guess when you coach your you're able
- 22:43Speaker 3: to coach like you know you fifteen with all those
- 22:46Speaker 3: crazy parents.
- 22:47Speaker 4: That coaching on professional hockey teams easy? After that?
- 22:50Speaker 2: Right? Do you imagine the Steve Simmons press conference? What
- 22:53Speaker 2: you like on from you fifteen? Steve Simmons?
- 22:55Speaker 3: The oh my god, Steve Simmons. Would Steve Simmons would
- 22:58Speaker 3: come to ask, HAVEVS a question? Stevie Simmons?
- 23:04Speaker 2: All right?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Still they come here an hll in scriptor the grim Reaper,
- 23:08Speaker 1: our friend Stu Grimson of Nhldon ever will.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Tell us the toughest guy he ever fought his thoughts
- 23:12Speaker 2: so far on.
- 23:13Speaker 1: The Stanley Cup Finals. All that more coming up, Stewie
- 23:15Speaker 1: after this our next guest draft. In the tenth round
- 23:31Speaker 1: of the nineteen eighty three draft of the Detroit Red
- 23:33Speaker 1: Wings were being selected the seventh round the nineteen eighty
- 23:35Speaker 1: five draft of the Calgary Flames. He collected seventeen goals,
- 23:39Speaker 1: thirty points and two one hundred and thirteen pounty minutes
- 23:42Speaker 1: in seven hundred and twenty nine career games. The Flames, Blackhawks,
- 23:45Speaker 1: Mighty Ducks, Red Wings, Whalers, Hurricanes, Kings, and Predators.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Not bad for a lawyer. Everyone's favorite Stuve Grimson, the
- 23:53Speaker 2: Grim Reaper. Still great to see you.
- 23:58Speaker 7: Hey, good to see you guys. Sorry you're going through
- 24:01Speaker 7: all my teams. I started nodding off there a little bit.
- 24:03Speaker 2: It's kind of a long but it's amazing to think.
- 24:07Speaker 1: But the thing I always tell people, like, listen, Stu
- 24:09Speaker 1: is such a great guy, and they go, come on,
- 24:10Speaker 1: he could beat the shit out of you.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I go, no, I know he could, he could at
- 24:12Speaker 2: any point.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And yet for a guy who had this resume for
- 24:15Speaker 1: being so intimidating, is so fearsome. Again, attorney, cerebral fan
- 24:20Speaker 1: of Broadway. I'm sure you're watching the Tony Awards.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Last night.
- 24:22Speaker 1: We talked about MJ the musical MJ Cercusila. We talked
- 24:25Speaker 1: independent films like Anora, like how can you be a
- 24:28Speaker 1: guy who was so vicious on the ice and yet
- 24:30Speaker 1: be a man of culture off the ice?
- 24:35Speaker 7: You know that's a funny thing. Uh, you know, I
- 24:40Speaker 7: was thinking about this this morning. You and I have
- 24:42Speaker 7: a lot in common where the arts are concerned. We
- 24:44Speaker 7: love to discuss, you know, the latest great things that
- 24:47Speaker 7: we've seen. And honestly, those those the part you referenced
- 24:52Speaker 7: my you know, my kind of tendencies as a player,
- 24:55Speaker 7: My role as a player kind of dovetail into my
- 24:59Speaker 7: affinity for the arts because you know the role, and
- 25:02Speaker 7: I'm sure you've heard lots of guys in my that
- 25:05Speaker 7: played this role say this, but it's really it's a
- 25:08Speaker 7: hard role to play. It's very taxing. It'd be very
- 25:10Speaker 7: taxing on you. So Honestly, nights before games when I
- 25:14Speaker 7: was pretty you know, I knew I was going to
- 25:16Speaker 7: be tangling with somebody else on the other side that
- 25:18Speaker 7: looked like my size, my dimensions, I was actually out
- 25:23Speaker 7: trying to find a distraction. I would be at the
- 25:25Speaker 7: movies the night before. I just wanted to take my
- 25:28Speaker 7: mind off the game, get a little separation, a little
- 25:31Speaker 7: space from it, because again, like gearing up to do
- 25:34Speaker 7: hand to hand combat eighty two times a year with
- 25:38Speaker 7: you know, guys that are six foot four, two hundred
- 25:41Speaker 7: and forty pounds and they can crush human bone with
- 25:43Speaker 7: their fists Like That's that's why I wanted to kind
- 25:46Speaker 7: of get a little distance from it, just take my
- 25:47Speaker 7: mind off it. I go see the movies.
- 25:50Speaker 4: It's crazy to think, you know, and.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Most the majority of the physical imposing the enforcers in
- 25:59Speaker 3: the league, when you talk to them, they're all very
- 26:02Speaker 3: soft spoken, intelligent, you know, the George.
- 26:04Speaker 4: As you and you know, is it just the do
- 26:08Speaker 4: you almost have to be cerebral to be doing that job?
- 26:12Speaker 3: And because it is a decision, but it's also like
- 26:17Speaker 3: you have to be analytical about it. And also I
- 26:21Speaker 3: never heard somebody say, like gearing up for the fight
- 26:24Speaker 3: is you're thinking about it, but you're also like I
- 26:27Speaker 3: need to get away and be distracted.
- 26:29Speaker 4: So it's so interesting to hear that. But like, is
- 26:33Speaker 4: there such an analytical side to it more than people
- 26:36Speaker 4: even realize.
- 26:39Speaker 7: You know, that's a great question, JDA, And I don't
- 26:42Speaker 7: think I've ever been asked in quite that way. But
- 26:44Speaker 7: two things come up for me, and the short response
- 26:49Speaker 7: is yes, I think you're right, And maybe a couple
- 26:52Speaker 7: of things kind of play into that one because guys
- 26:56Speaker 7: in my role have learned over time, Hey, I'm not
- 26:59Speaker 7: a thirty goal forty goal scorer. I may have had
- 27:02Speaker 7: some points in you know, a college or junior but
- 27:04Speaker 7: if I'm going to survive and carve out a roll
- 27:07Speaker 7: a niche for myself in the NHL, I've got to
- 27:10Speaker 7: find a way to be this physical catalyst, right. I
- 27:14Speaker 7: got to find these different moments in the game where
- 27:17Speaker 7: I can I can help turn the game, I can
- 27:19Speaker 7: help my team win in a in a kind of
- 27:22Speaker 7: an obscure way. So that takes a bit of a tactician, right.
- 27:26Speaker 7: That takes somebody who's constantly assessing the game for these moments,
- 27:31Speaker 7: and you act when you think it's appropriate. So there's
- 27:33Speaker 7: a good bit of analysis going on there as you're
- 27:36Speaker 7: somebody like me is sitting on the bench or on
- 27:39Speaker 7: the ice watching things evolve. And then number two, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 7: there's there's this selfless piece to it, like nobody jumps
- 27:46Speaker 7: out of bed in the morning, like when you're you know,
- 27:49Speaker 7: twelve thirteen years of age, Han, I'm going to go
- 27:51Speaker 7: out and be the next heavyweight enforcer in the NHL.
- 27:54Speaker 7: But it's it's a selfless person. It's a it's a
- 27:58Speaker 7: person who has the team's kind of best interest at
- 28:01Speaker 7: heart that I think makes that decision that's not to
- 28:04Speaker 7: say that goal scorers don't care about their team, but
- 28:07Speaker 7: you know you're willing to make one of the ultimate
- 28:08Speaker 7: sacrifices in the game, which is to put your physical
- 28:12Speaker 7: well being in harm's way to assist the team. So
- 28:17Speaker 7: those are the couple things that kind of come up
- 28:19Speaker 7: for me. But I do think there's some merit to that.
- 28:21Speaker 2: You Bet Stewart a great book.
- 28:22Speaker 1: It's called The Grim Reaper, The Life and Career of
- 28:24Speaker 1: a Reluctant Warrior, and I want to read is a
- 28:27Speaker 1: passage from it, just to his point about being tough
- 28:29Speaker 1: and fighting.
- 28:30Speaker 2: This is a story you told about fighting.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I stepped in with two of my buddies, waded into
- 28:33Speaker 1: the fray, got the party store up by cold cock,
- 28:35Speaker 1: and the guy doing most of the talking his two
- 28:37Speaker 1: front teeth launched skyward.
- 28:38Speaker 2: We quickly became the main event.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Within seconds, I pinned the trash talker against the theater
- 28:43Speaker 1: wall and was slamming his head against the bricks over
- 28:45Speaker 1: and over and then a few more times for good measure.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I left him sprawled in the ground bleeding. The only
- 28:50Speaker 1: damage I suffered was the loss of one of my
- 28:51Speaker 1: stan smith sneakers. During the fight, I never tied my
- 28:54Speaker 1: shoes back then. It flew off my foot sometime after
- 28:57Speaker 1: I threw.
- 28:57Speaker 2: My first bunch, I lok into the shoe quickly and
- 29:00Speaker 2: bent over to grab a big mistake.
- 29:03Speaker 3: You and your study, Wait, how do you usually you
- 29:06Speaker 3: hear you get hit so hard you fly to your shoes,
- 29:08Speaker 3: Not that you hit somebody so hard that your shoe
- 29:10Speaker 3: comes up.
- 29:12Speaker 1: You and your sister adopted you were the son of
- 29:14Speaker 1: an RCMP officer, Like I would think. It's a lot
- 29:17Speaker 1: over a househole that you're out there stuke kicking the
- 29:19Speaker 1: shit at the guys.
- 29:23Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah, it was crazy, and you know it's really
- 29:26Speaker 7: odd about that av is you know? That was actually
- 29:31Speaker 7: the moment at which as all this is going on
- 29:34Speaker 7: in front of my hometown movie theater, downtown Camlton Movie Theater,
- 29:40Speaker 7: this miniature brawl is taking place on the corner of
- 29:43Speaker 7: the street. The head scout for the Regina Pass of
- 29:46Speaker 7: the Western Hockey League happened to be driving by and
- 29:49Speaker 7: he goes, oh, hey, that's the Crimson boy. I think
- 29:53Speaker 7: you can play for us. They listed me after that moment.
- 29:58Speaker 7: I'm sixteen years of age. I'm getting into a dust
- 30:01Speaker 7: up on a street corner and their head scout drives by.
- 30:05Speaker 7: They listed me at that point. I played three years
- 30:07Speaker 7: a junior with the Regina Pats and you know, went
- 30:10Speaker 7: on to a seventeen year professional hockey career. But that
- 30:14Speaker 7: really is the moment, not to say that it may
- 30:17Speaker 7: not have happened other ways. Yeah, but that got Regina's attention.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Well, later on you talk with the fact it is amazing,
- 30:23Speaker 1: he said, isn't officially a party until Stu strip's naked
- 30:26Speaker 1: and jumps in the pool.
- 30:27Speaker 2: You actually jumped off a friend's house into the pool.
- 30:30Speaker 2: And no, I was not clothed.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I had a few beers, but I was not drunk.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I knew what I was doing. It was about becoming
- 30:35Speaker 1: the story I wanted people to talk about me. I
- 30:37Speaker 1: believe that was the quickest way to find acceptance and admiration.
- 30:40Speaker 1: That is how I believe the world worked when I
- 30:42Speaker 1: was in my teens.
- 30:46Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it was a strange mindset.
- 30:48Speaker 4: It really was.
- 30:49Speaker 7: Growing up a Cops kid back back then. You know,
- 30:52Speaker 7: we moved around a lot. Our family was never in
- 30:55Speaker 7: one place any more than two or three years at
- 30:57Speaker 7: the most, So you know, changing towns, changing schools, finding
- 31:02Speaker 7: new people to you know, to to fit in with,
- 31:05Speaker 7: to socialize with became a real challenge when you're you know,
- 31:09Speaker 7: in your teens. And for me, my twisted way of
- 31:12Speaker 7: thinking was if I could do things that were completely
- 31:16Speaker 7: outrageous and get everybody talking about me Monday morning back
- 31:19Speaker 7: at school, that must mean that I'm accept I'm accepted,
- 31:23Speaker 7: and I'm respected by these people. So it was kind
- 31:26Speaker 7: of an empty, you know, thoughtless existence when you when
- 31:31Speaker 7: you really think about it. But you know, as teens
- 31:32Speaker 7: we go through this and it sure it got me
- 31:36Speaker 7: into a lot of trouble as a kid. It really did.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Well, you know what you go through your NHL career,
- 31:42Speaker 3: and we'll get to that as we kind of pivot back,
- 31:44Speaker 3: but you know, going to the end of it, you
- 31:47Speaker 3: know what prompted you and to get your law degree
- 31:51Speaker 3: after retiring and then you know, working for the NHLPA
- 31:53Speaker 3: as well, so as in house counsel. But take us
- 31:56Speaker 3: through that of your thought process and why that tickled
- 32:00Speaker 3: your fancy.
- 32:03Speaker 7: Yeah, so I had, I had, I signed my first
- 32:09Speaker 7: pro contract. I was two years at the University of Manitoba,
- 32:12Speaker 7: so I kind of had a head start on my
- 32:13Speaker 7: undergraduate degree and I took actually some correspondence courses while
- 32:18Speaker 7: I was playing, and got to a point towards the
- 32:22Speaker 7: middle stages of my pro career was like I couldn't
- 32:24Speaker 7: really take any more correspondence had exhausted basically everything that
- 32:28Speaker 7: had any interest in merit for me. So I knew
- 32:32Speaker 7: I wanted to finish that off after I was done,
- 32:34Speaker 7: and kind of the last handful of years during my career,
- 32:39Speaker 7: I started serving as a player rep. Had the you know,
- 32:43Speaker 7: the really exciting responsibility of actually serving a term as
- 32:48Speaker 7: vice president of our executive committee for the Players Association,
- 32:52Speaker 7: and I just I found the union side of the
- 32:56Speaker 7: game really interesting, and for that reason, JD, I kind
- 33:01Speaker 7: of decided, you know, as I pivot from playing to now,
- 33:07Speaker 7: you know, doing something else in my life, I really
- 33:11Speaker 7: think I need to kind of invest in the marketable skill.
- 33:13Speaker 7: So I knew I wanted to do finish my graduate
- 33:16Speaker 7: undergraduate degree, and I knew I wanted to do another
- 33:18Speaker 7: advanced degree of some kind, and the law made the
- 33:21Speaker 7: most sense. I'd seen a lot of other players, you know,
- 33:24Speaker 7: like the Mike Leutes, the Ken Dryden's, the the Neil
- 33:29Speaker 7: Sheehee's of the world earn law degrees go on to
- 33:33Speaker 7: work at some really exciting jobs within our game. So
- 33:37Speaker 7: it was kind of for those reasons. I knew I
- 33:39Speaker 7: wanted to stay in the game in some way, and
- 33:41Speaker 7: I thought getting a lot of degree might make a
- 33:43Speaker 7: lot of sense. But then again, that's what makes a
- 33:48Speaker 7: lot of sense to a guy that suffered a lot
- 33:50Speaker 7: of head trauma over the course of his career, Like
- 33:52Speaker 7: going to law school as a thirty seven year old
- 33:55Speaker 7: man makes makes great sense to anybody.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Well, I can imagine that alluring. You would have to do,
- 34:00Speaker 1: Stewey back in Detroit. You're on a roster led by
- 34:02Speaker 1: Scottie Bowmen and featuring names like Eiserman, feder Off, Lidstrom,
- 34:07Speaker 1: Coffee Fatiso, Constantinov, Larryanov, and Vernon.
- 34:11Speaker 2: What was that room like?
- 34:16Speaker 7: It was amazing, It was amazing. It was, you know,
- 34:19Speaker 7: one of the most memorable stretches of my career. You know,
- 34:24Speaker 7: for me, it was coming full circle. The club that
- 34:26Speaker 7: originally drafted me Detroit, but I never turned pro with them.
- 34:29Speaker 7: Originally it was ultimately via Calgary, but I kind of
- 34:33Speaker 7: came full circle. I came back to Detroit at a
- 34:36Speaker 7: much later stage in my career, but I came over
- 34:39Speaker 7: at the deadline of the lockout shortened season ninety four
- 34:43Speaker 7: ninety five. And you know, Detroit had an amazing team,
- 34:47Speaker 7: all those characters you reference. You know, I left Anaheim,
- 34:52Speaker 7: a team that didn't make the playoffs in the priory
- 34:54Speaker 7: in that year to go to Detroit, a team that
- 34:57Speaker 7: was heavily favored to win it all that year. And boy,
- 35:01Speaker 7: we I've never been a part of a team an
- 35:05Speaker 7: organization where winning came so easy. The talent was incredible.
- 35:12Speaker 7: Scottie really had you know, everybody on the same page
- 35:17Speaker 7: had a lot of respect for him. But assembling a
- 35:21Speaker 7: group of people like that av I'm left with this,
- 35:25Speaker 7: you know, wonderful reminder of just how rich and like
- 35:30Speaker 7: interesting the personalities and the characters were on that team.
- 35:34Speaker 7: You know you mentioned Coffee and Fatissov and and Stevie Y.
- 35:38Speaker 7: Chris osgood was so you know, he's kind of cutting
- 35:41Speaker 7: his teeth entering the NHL and sneaky, funny, quiet, interesting character.
- 35:48Speaker 7: But we we had a lot of a lot of
- 35:50Speaker 7: great memories. And JD Will you know, can attest to
- 35:53Speaker 7: this when it's going well, when you know, when you're
- 35:58Speaker 7: meeting expectations and you're having success, as a club. Those
- 36:02Speaker 7: are some of the Those are some of the best
- 36:04Speaker 7: moments you can enjoy as a professional athlete. It really
- 36:07Speaker 7: is a wonderful time. And that that was Detroit.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you when it's going great, you're like, it's there's
- 36:14Speaker 3: nothing better. And then you also can be on the
- 36:17Speaker 3: opposite side of it, where it's you you can't even
- 36:21Speaker 3: imagine going to the rink because it's just you know
- 36:23Speaker 3: how bad, it's going to be miserable. But you know,
- 36:26Speaker 3: after you started your career with Calgary in Chicago, you're
- 36:29Speaker 3: on that inaugural roster for the Mighty Ducks Anaheim. How
- 36:32Speaker 3: was that being part of a team that literally is
- 36:35Speaker 3: owned by Disney And what do you remember from those
- 36:39Speaker 3: kind of years because those are probably some lean years
- 36:42Speaker 3: in that those expansion teams, because it's not always a
- 36:45Speaker 3: Vegas Gold Nights.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's most of the time. It's there's some struggles
- 36:49Speaker 4: early on. Yeah, it was.
- 36:55Speaker 7: It was a different experience, but it was no less
- 36:58Speaker 7: enjoyable to me, and I really do consider it an honor.
- 37:01Speaker 7: Do you have had a part in kind of, you know,
- 37:04Speaker 7: helping that organization, that that franchise get its start, and
- 37:10Speaker 7: you know, we all felt like we were kind of
- 37:12Speaker 7: contributing to some of that initial foundation. But for many
- 37:16Speaker 7: of us, i mean, third fourth line players from all
- 37:19Speaker 7: over the league cobbled together. We all felt, hey, you know,
- 37:23Speaker 7: we may not be the most competitive, but for all
- 37:25Speaker 7: of us, it's going to mean more responsibility. It's going
- 37:28Speaker 7: to mean there's an opportunity to kind of to play more,
- 37:32Speaker 7: to do more than we have at earlier stages in
- 37:34Speaker 7: our career. And we all experienced that in varying degrees.
- 37:37Speaker 7: So it was a wonderful, incredible experience. JD. You know
- 37:41Speaker 7: what this is like. You know, there was a day
- 37:44Speaker 7: when you know, the California California had just a single team,
- 37:50Speaker 7: it was LA, and when you went to LA, it
- 37:52Speaker 7: was like the highlight of of the year. It was
- 37:55Speaker 7: the West coast trip. We're going to LA. But now
- 37:57Speaker 7: you know, you're actually somebody that's playing in southern California,
- 38:01Speaker 7: And that was an incredible experience all by itself. I mean,
- 38:04Speaker 7: I woke up most days just pinching myself. It is just,
- 38:08Speaker 7: you know, we always looked at it, my family did,
- 38:10Speaker 7: as an extended vacation of some kind. We knew we
- 38:13Speaker 7: were gonna never we never would live there. But it
- 38:16Speaker 7: was just a wonderful experience. And Disney just to put
- 38:18Speaker 7: up bow on all of it. Disney owned the team,
- 38:21Speaker 7: treated us as players so exceptionally well really Disney silver passes,
- 38:28Speaker 7: we could take it. You could take as many people
- 38:30Speaker 7: to the so the theme park as we wanted with it, merchandise.
- 38:34Speaker 7: I had two young daughters. I had two young daughters
- 38:38Speaker 7: when I was playing for the Ducks, the Mighty Ducks
- 38:40Speaker 7: back then. And let me just tell you this, Dad
- 38:43Speaker 7: was never more popular than when he was working for
- 38:45Speaker 7: the Mouse. I mean, we would go to the theme
- 38:48Speaker 7: park all night long and just ride the rides. It
- 38:50Speaker 7: was a ball.
- 38:51Speaker 4: What it's you know, how much access and how easy
- 38:55Speaker 4: was it?
- 38:55Speaker 3: You know, you get the silver pass, but what are
- 38:57Speaker 3: some other things in some of the benefits that Because
- 38:59Speaker 3: it is early on, I feel like they're trying to
- 39:03Speaker 3: make you guys as happy as possible as players.
- 39:06Speaker 4: So what other kind of things?
- 39:07Speaker 3: I mean, not to mention, you have the gruff Ron
- 39:10Speaker 3: Wilson behind the bench as your bench boss. So how
- 39:14Speaker 3: how's having a guy like that?
- 39:15Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 39:16Speaker 3: With Disney, I feel like Disney and Ron Wilson does
- 39:19Speaker 3: not doesn't mix, you know, that's.
- 39:23Speaker 7: That's really interesting. You say that because Ron and that
- 39:27Speaker 7: was Ron's first head job, head coaching job in the NHL.
- 39:31Speaker 7: But I'll tell you this, like all of us loved it,
- 39:35Speaker 7: because all of us got, you know, this this unique experience.
- 39:38Speaker 7: And again, the club, the organization just treated us so
- 39:42Speaker 7: exceptionally well. For instance, they were testing the Indiana Jones
- 39:48Speaker 7: ride for the first time. They had not released the
- 39:50Speaker 7: new ride to the general public, so they invited the
- 39:53Speaker 7: entire team down one evening to kind of preview the ride,
- 39:57Speaker 7: and we went on it, say ten times. Can I
- 40:01Speaker 7: just tell you, JD. Nobody was more tickled, nobody was
- 40:05Speaker 7: more excited than Ron Wilson dragging his family down to
- 40:09Speaker 7: the Indianage.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Oh my, he was like, he was giddy.
- 40:12Speaker 7: He was he was just giddy. You could hardly shut
- 40:15Speaker 7: the man up. And he went on the ride as
- 40:17Speaker 7: often as or more than any of us. It was
- 40:20Speaker 7: just hysterical. But he loved it. He was he was
- 40:23Speaker 7: fully in and it was you know, it was a
- 40:26Speaker 7: It was again just an amazing experience.
- 40:28Speaker 2: That's great.
- 40:29Speaker 1: We've all witnessed the caroll And hurricanes it built over
- 40:31Speaker 1: the past few years too, But very different story. When
- 40:33Speaker 1: you first arrived and probably to the Hurricanes first season. Again,
- 40:37Speaker 1: the Whalers stories are so plentiful. You were great in
- 40:39Speaker 1: Tal's doc that you put together. John Forrest has told
- 40:42Speaker 1: me stories. But you'd be in a rink rat wanting
- 40:43Speaker 1: to get to the rink earlier in harperd the Civic
- 40:45Speaker 1: Center back in the day.
- 40:46Speaker 2: But what was it like from Raleigh? I mean, at
- 40:48Speaker 2: least in harfrond it was a small town, but at
- 40:50Speaker 2: least you had hockey fans. Probably must have been different, right.
- 40:56Speaker 7: Oh, super different. I mean just to look now to
- 41:00Speaker 7: see how far that market has come. So when we
- 41:03Speaker 7: migrate from Hartford to Carolina last year, Hartford existed. First
- 41:08Speaker 7: year of Carolina, we didn't have a rink and the
- 41:11Speaker 7: rink was going to be two years out before it
- 41:13Speaker 7: was ready, So believe it or not, I mean, everybody
- 41:16Speaker 7: on this call knows this, but for folks that hadn't
- 41:19Speaker 7: followed this part of you know, NHL folklore. We played
- 41:23Speaker 7: our home games ninety miles an out ninety miles away
- 41:27Speaker 7: in Greensburg, North Carolina, to the to the north, and
- 41:31Speaker 7: I mean we played out of an SEC basketball venue.
- 41:35Speaker 7: It was I mean it was great, but I mean
- 41:38Speaker 7: this was basketball country, this was monster truck country. We
- 41:44Speaker 7: had immediate family show up for our home games. Like
- 41:49Speaker 7: we drive ninety miles one way to our home games
- 41:52Speaker 7: and there might be two thousand people in the building.
- 41:54Speaker 7: And when I say two thousand people, I am not exaggerating.
- 41:57Speaker 7: I mean it was immediate family. It was so bad.
- 42:00Speaker 7: They used to drape off these big black curtains. They
- 42:03Speaker 7: would drape off the upper tier so that it didn't
- 42:06Speaker 7: look so cavernous and empty for for television as they're
- 42:10Speaker 7: you know, as they're they're they're covering our games. But
- 42:13Speaker 7: it was a really bizarre experience. But my family's first
- 42:17Speaker 7: experience in the South, and you know, got to know
- 42:22Speaker 7: and understand that North Carolinians are just some of the
- 42:25Speaker 7: sweetest people. And you know, we did sense it back
- 42:30Speaker 7: even back then. There's there's a following for this team,
- 42:34Speaker 7: and I think they're going to do really well here
- 42:36Speaker 7: because momentum just seemed to gather year after year after year,
- 42:39Speaker 7: and you get what you see today as you enter
- 42:42Speaker 7: that building and this this franchise in the Stanley Cup
- 42:45Speaker 7: finals again.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Well, you know they're tailgating now and keeping it in
- 42:50Speaker 3: in that same vein. You know, talk a little bit
- 42:53Speaker 3: about what you've seen so far in this series and
- 42:56Speaker 3: what are you making. We mentioned it it's an exciting
- 43:01Speaker 3: and entertaining Cup final, but it's very sloppy and disorganized
- 43:06Speaker 3: a little bit, it feels like to me, yeah.
- 43:10Speaker 7: Yeah, it does have that feel. And I think especially
- 43:14Speaker 7: Game three, because a couple, at least a couple important goals,
- 43:18Speaker 7: really impactful goals were more a byproduct of, you know,
- 43:25Speaker 7: a puck mishandled, a puck miss read, a puck misplayed
- 43:29Speaker 7: than they were this you know, this this brilliant playmaking
- 43:33Speaker 7: or goal scoring. But we've you know, we have had
- 43:35Speaker 7: plenty of both. The thing I'm left with j D.
- 43:38Speaker 7: And I've I think I've been, in spite of all that,
- 43:42Speaker 7: kind of enthralled with this final. You know, when you
- 43:44Speaker 7: cover it as an analyst, you're no longer you know
- 43:47Speaker 7: a player or a fan. Really you just want to
- 43:49Speaker 7: see a competitive series and you want to see good hockey.
- 43:54Speaker 7: I have been blown away by the level of drama
- 43:58Speaker 7: that we've seen from Game one, two, and three, Like
- 44:01Speaker 7: each of these game games kind of stand on their
- 44:04Speaker 7: just in terms of the drama, the lead changes that
- 44:08Speaker 7: we've seen and the way the leads have been changed.
- 44:11Speaker 7: I mean, it's nothing for one of these teams to
- 44:13Speaker 7: go on a three goal tear inside the space of
- 44:15Speaker 7: three or four minutes and turn the contest on its ear.
- 44:19Speaker 7: It's just been really remarkable. So at the end of
- 44:22Speaker 7: the day, you know, I kind of I have this
- 44:25Speaker 7: one takeaway. In a typical Stanley Cup final, as long
- 44:31Speaker 7: as it's competitive, you know you'll have one or two
- 44:34Speaker 7: of these games that are really really memorable. All three
- 44:37Speaker 7: of these games seem to have had that kind of drama.
- 44:41Speaker 7: Leaves me kind of believing, you know, whatever way this
- 44:46Speaker 7: shakes out, we're in for a five game series at
- 44:48Speaker 7: a minimum. But it's it's it's a lot of fun
- 44:52Speaker 7: to watch and you don't want to step away from
- 44:55Speaker 7: it while while the clock is running.
- 44:57Speaker 1: I've asked you before too, but toughest guys you fought.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Dave Brown definitely high up on that list. But again,
- 45:02Speaker 1: a great story from your book, The Grim Reaper, The
- 45:04Speaker 1: Life and Career of a Reluctant Warrior is about another flyer,
- 45:07Speaker 1: and Ron Hextall. Thirty six years that are people still
- 45:10Speaker 1: debate who should be blamed for the brawl. My take
- 45:12Speaker 1: it was Hextall's fault, no question. Our coach Bob Strom
- 45:15Speaker 1: called Hextall the.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Eye of the tornado.
- 45:17Speaker 1: He said, when the referee let the team's back in
- 45:19Speaker 1: the as you saw Hextall's eyes letting up like a
- 45:21Speaker 1: pinball machine. He led the charge of the visitors dress room,
- 45:24Speaker 1: skated through our zone, waving his goalie stick over his
- 45:26Speaker 1: head like a Viking wielding a battle axe. And an
- 45:29Speaker 1: editorial The Regina Leader Post referred to Hextall as junior
- 45:33Speaker 1: hockey's version of Billy Smith and Attila the Hunt.
- 45:35Speaker 2: And know that nobody bothers the pats more than he does.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Take me back to that, Oh it was.
- 45:43Speaker 7: It was just the strangest, strangest doubting and that is
- 45:47Speaker 7: a that is a full scale brawl, like we're not talking,
- 45:51Speaker 7: you know, line brawl, a bunch of guys kind of
- 45:54Speaker 7: you know, smashing their gloves in one another's face. This
- 45:59Speaker 7: was full on. Everybody's everybody's in it. But it, you know,
- 46:03Speaker 7: the start of the night had no there was no
- 46:06Speaker 7: indication it was going to be that messy, that bloody.
- 46:10Speaker 7: But you know, the zamboni breaks down, so they usher
- 46:14Speaker 7: us off the ice and it takes us a little
- 46:16Speaker 7: out of our normal, normalm And what ended up happening
- 46:20Speaker 7: is when the Brennan Wi Kings, our opposition, came back
- 46:24Speaker 7: to start the game, they skated right through our zone
- 46:28Speaker 7: and Hextall, for whatever reason, is just waving his stick
- 46:31Speaker 7: in there.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Psychopath.
- 46:33Speaker 7: Of course, that brings a bunch of people. He's just
- 46:36Speaker 7: he's just a little loopy, and it brings a bunch
- 46:39Speaker 7: of players together. And the moment that happens, Hextall brings
- 46:43Speaker 7: his stick down on our team, one of our captains,
- 46:47Speaker 7: Bob Lows, who's actually now a scout for he's director
- 46:50Speaker 7: of Amateur Scouting for Vegas. And you know, that was
- 46:55Speaker 7: like dumping six gallons of jet fuel on a fire.
- 46:58Speaker 7: It just it just exploded, and everybody's paired off and
- 47:02Speaker 7: everybody's got a dance part partner. I was in and
- 47:06Speaker 7: out of the penalty box about three different times that night,
- 47:09Speaker 7: and I ended up I'm kind of leaning over the
- 47:12Speaker 7: first time I got put in there. I'm leaning over
- 47:13Speaker 7: the boards after I got separated from my fight, and
- 47:16Speaker 7: I'm watching everything that's going on the ice. Guided by
- 47:19Speaker 7: the name of brad Well sidles Down. He's kind of
- 47:23Speaker 7: like goes under the radar. He comes down the side
- 47:26Speaker 7: of the boards next to the penalty glass, outside of
- 47:28Speaker 7: even my peripheral view, and he just clocks me. He
- 47:31Speaker 7: sucker punches me from the side, and all of a
- 47:34Speaker 7: sudden it is on again. I leap out of the
- 47:37Speaker 7: penalty box. I go after brad Wells. It's just you know,
- 47:41Speaker 7: that whole brawl took forty five minutes to play out
- 47:44Speaker 7: and settle down eventually, and then Jd'll appreciate this, like
- 47:50Speaker 7: as a team, this is back in the days of VHS. Right,
- 47:54Speaker 7: as a team, we'd have practice, but for the next
- 47:57Speaker 7: three four days after we would sit in the room
- 48:00Speaker 7: after practice was over and we would play that thing
- 48:03Speaker 7: a lot. We played that thing on a loop. Oh,
- 48:06Speaker 7: here's here's the part where LB goes. But what this
- 48:09Speaker 7: is awesome?
- 48:10Speaker 4: It was just crazy. Yeah, you got everybody goes in
- 48:13Speaker 4: the room.
- 48:14Speaker 7: All has lived on in WHL. Oh, just it's lived
- 48:18Speaker 7: on in WHL folklore, you know, since ever since it happened. Yeah,
- 48:22Speaker 7: it's crazy.
- 48:23Speaker 4: And those are so good because everybodys in the room,
- 48:24Speaker 4: like you saw that, Yeah you saw that.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Everybody's all the guys are so excited and happy and altogether.
- 48:29Speaker 4: But you know, speaking of disputes and great.
- 48:32Speaker 3: Segues like I'm gonna pull you you while working with
- 48:35Speaker 3: the PA, I'm sure you saw a ton of stuff.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Is there any kind of wild disputes or anything that
- 48:41Speaker 3: you were just I don't know if i'd say pinching yourself,
- 48:44Speaker 3: but you're like, what did what did I get myself into?
- 48:47Speaker 3: I mean specifically, there's a whole tint advisor with alexovech Kid.
- 48:50Speaker 4: I don't know what you remember from that, but any
- 48:53Speaker 4: disputes that stand out in your mind when you were
- 48:55Speaker 4: at the PA.
- 48:59Speaker 7: Well, yeah, I mean there's lots of stuff that comes
- 49:02Speaker 7: up day to day. I did served as Labor Council
- 49:05Speaker 7: for about two years, and I will say one of
- 49:07Speaker 7: the craziest parts of my whole tenure at the NHLPA
- 49:13Speaker 7: was not so much a dispute that we had with
- 49:16Speaker 7: the League, but it was a kind of a civil
- 49:18Speaker 7: war internally. If you remember when the Union and the
- 49:23Speaker 7: League went from a let's call it a free market
- 49:27Speaker 7: system to all of a sudden, you know, this year
- 49:30Speaker 7: plus of workstop, which led to a total, you know,
- 49:35Speaker 7: kind of capitulation by the Union to accept the salary Cap.
- 49:40Speaker 7: If you remember all that, Bob Goodnow was removed as
- 49:43Speaker 7: the executive director. Ted Saskin was installed as the executive director,
- 49:48Speaker 7: but he was installed in a way that wasn't compliant
- 49:51Speaker 7: with the constitution. So there were a bunch of players,
- 49:55Speaker 7: this kind of you know, kind of outlaw bunch that
- 49:58Speaker 7: we're trying to get Ted removed. And Ted was the
- 50:01Speaker 7: guy that hired me. You know, he's the architect of
- 50:04Speaker 7: Salary Cap. He was the new executive director. He signed
- 50:07Speaker 7: to this new contract and almost from the day he
- 50:10Speaker 7: got the job, this this group was was trying to
- 50:14Speaker 7: remove Ted and it was just, you know, day after
- 50:18Speaker 7: day of dealing with that and it was just like
- 50:20Speaker 7: internal strifele like I had never seen it.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Pretty crazy to think about what a life for Stu
- 50:26Speaker 1: Grimson's remarkable career and obviously a terrific analyst for NHL Network.
- 50:31Speaker 1: And most importantly, you've given Jason de Murz a humbling
- 50:34Speaker 1: to remember, just absolute ass kicking on words with friends,
- 50:37Speaker 1: win ghost do we Oh.
- 50:39Speaker 4: I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
- 50:42Speaker 3: But before I handed over to you, Stu, I got
- 50:46Speaker 3: some awful letters and there's a little bit of luck.
- 50:52Speaker 7: Well, let me ask you, this is it the Is
- 50:55Speaker 7: it the archer? Or is it the arrow always torn?
- 50:59Speaker 2: Is it the archer?
- 51:00Speaker 7: Is it the I will say a lot of your
- 51:03Speaker 7: rough In spite of your rough, in spite of your
- 51:06Speaker 7: rough start, your rough start to our first game, I
- 51:09Speaker 7: was I was able to eke out a win by
- 51:11Speaker 7: just a narrow margin of two hundred and one point.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I think.
- 51:16Speaker 4: So I've battled back to you.
- 51:21Speaker 2: I've battled back.
- 51:22Speaker 7: Here's to you being more more competitive in the games
- 51:26Speaker 7: to come.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I looked forward to it.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Time for a little centopol and sixty. A new movie
- 51:38Speaker 1: called Tuner what you just went and watched in the theater.
- 51:40Speaker 1: It's still an independent movie. It's a really interesting concept.
- 51:44Speaker 1: A guy who's a piano tuner for those who are
- 51:46Speaker 1: musically inclined. He's got a great ear of knowing, you know,
- 51:48Speaker 1: this key.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Is off, this key is off.
- 51:50Speaker 1: But then he gets hooked up with some criminals. Because
- 51:52Speaker 1: he's got such a great ear, he can crack some
- 51:54Speaker 1: safes as well. The rare piano tuner turned criminal accomplice.
- 51:58Speaker 2: It's a good movie. I enjoyed it. Slickly edited and
- 52:01Speaker 2: the great.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Dustin Hoffman is in the movie. Doesn't happen so eighty
- 52:03Speaker 1: eight years old. He shows up for more than a
- 52:06Speaker 1: glorified CAMMI for twelve minutes. But I just loved Dustin Hoffman.
- 52:08Speaker 1: He's always good to watch the movie, and I enjoyed
- 52:10Speaker 1: the film. Daniel war Is the director. Make sure you
- 52:12Speaker 1: check it out. It's called Tuner. Also note that Tony
- 52:14Speaker 1: Awards were last night. JD knows this as a wife
- 52:17Speaker 1: who is in the musical theater.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing bigger. I'm watching.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I know you hate a war show, so so I'll
- 52:21Speaker 1: watch it on Behalf of Us and I look up
- 52:23Speaker 1: and I see the Rocky or Picture show, the guys
- 52:26Speaker 1: in a mustache, wearing like a boostier and like a falling.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Of the Jesus.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I just I just imagined Middle America. What's on CBS tonight,
- 52:33Speaker 1: Just recoiling at this image.
- 52:36Speaker 4: You know, the Broadway community. They're gonna show up and
- 52:38Speaker 4: show out.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Absolutely, They've got absolutely.
- 52:42Speaker 4: They don't give they don't give a yeah, Baker's fuck.
- 52:45Speaker 4: They just they are. They're They're out there cherry and
- 52:49Speaker 4: love it every minute of it. Yeah. Yeah, I just
- 52:52Speaker 4: woke up this morning.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Well my wife watched it, of course, because yeah, our
- 52:56Speaker 3: friends you know, big A Jambrie. They were up for
- 52:59Speaker 3: nominated for Titanique, so they performed as well and nice
- 53:02Speaker 3: they they were nominated. But La but yeah, so she
- 53:05Speaker 3: was watching Supporting and I just like opened my phone
- 53:08Speaker 3: and it was like there's literally Josh Gadd singing about
- 53:12Speaker 3: Jesus on the cross and like humping the hair, and
- 53:16Speaker 3: I'm like, this is fucking this is insane, but I
- 53:20Speaker 3: love it.
- 53:21Speaker 1: You've been the only guy there who's locked in on
- 53:22Speaker 1: the Tony Wards. At least it even has a semilance
- 53:24Speaker 1: of an idea. Like imagine if you're talking, I know,
- 53:26Speaker 1: I know that they're.
- 53:27Speaker 2: On Maroon, Like just even knowing that they're on, Like Pat,
- 53:30Speaker 2: you wouldn't even know what the Tony Awards are. You're
- 53:32Speaker 2: gonna watch the Tony Words site. What's that like?
- 53:35Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 53:35Speaker 2: I think Johnny might know what it is, but would
- 53:37Speaker 2: never watch Tony Words. Is that the Broadway thing?
- 53:39Speaker 3: I think so, because I think Johnny is expressed how
- 53:42Speaker 3: he likes he goes and see shows and stuff like that.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I'm sure there's some people, but yeah, the.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Tony's not making plans to watch.
- 53:49Speaker 7: Uh.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Katie Wentz saw The Wizard of Oz at the sphere.
- 53:53Speaker 3: So I think I'm gonna try to I'm gonna try
- 53:55Speaker 3: to do that, so I mean close, you know, close,
- 53:59Speaker 3: it's on the way.
- 54:00Speaker 2: If I've just mentioned to Mar at some point today, Hey,
- 54:02Speaker 2: you see Josh.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Gadd last night and just just Josh can't talking about
- 54:06Speaker 3: coming all over Jesus or some shit like that. Like
- 54:09Speaker 3: it's just like the weirdest that's the weirdest lie.
- 54:14Speaker 2: That is the probably community.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Tal has a centiphile in sixty Office Romance with Jlo.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Jlo is still as hot as ever, tals all in
- 54:20Speaker 1: on her new film.
- 54:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't want to gush too much about how
- 54:24Speaker 5: good Jlo looks because the.
- 54:26Speaker 4: Restraining order and everything.
- 54:27Speaker 6: But office romance, you know, well you're not allowed to
- 54:32Speaker 6: restrain it or you can still talk about I know,
- 54:34Speaker 6: but you know sexual Devian from far No.
- 54:38Speaker 4: Well, we know Nate and j D are the big
- 54:40Speaker 4: rom com guys.
- 54:42Speaker 5: So this is this is a solid one. I gotta say.
- 54:44Speaker 5: Brett Goldstein stars in it. He wrote it with Joe Kelly.
- 54:47Speaker 5: They're both involved with Ted Lasso. It's legit funny, it's
- 54:51Speaker 5: I I actually did have some out loud laughs in
- 54:54Speaker 5: this one.
- 54:55Speaker 4: They did a lot of the sort of.
- 54:57Speaker 5: Brit expat in America humor that was that was pretty good.
- 55:01Speaker 5: And you know jlo Is is she's Jennifer Lopez is
- 55:04Speaker 5: great in it.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 5: I mean, if you're looking for a for a rom
- 55:09Speaker 5: com to you know, kind of just enjoy with with
- 55:13Speaker 5: a loved one or by yourself, whatever it is you're doing,
- 55:16Speaker 5: I'm gonna recommend Office Romance.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Is it streaming somewhere? You didn't go to the theater
- 55:20Speaker 2: on Netflix?
- 55:20Speaker 4: Just came out on Netflix, right, Office Romo? Do you
- 55:23Speaker 4: uh all to go check it out?
- 55:31Speaker 2: I do recommend. I do you recommend The Wizard of
- 55:33Speaker 2: oosit Sphere?
- 55:33Speaker 3: I did see that with Yeah, I heard, Yeah, I'm
- 55:35Speaker 3: trying to go see today is uh it's like a
- 55:38Speaker 3: hundred it's great.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Well, how about what are your thoughts on Masters of
- 55:41Speaker 4: the Universe.
- 55:42Speaker 3: He man getting some good reviews right now. Yeah, but
- 55:45Speaker 3: then it absolute flop? Fifty four million worldwide? Is that
- 55:49Speaker 3: that baud wow opening weekend.
- 55:51Speaker 1: What's amazing is the two movies that are carrying the
- 55:53Speaker 1: box office are made by twenty year old YouTube directors,
- 55:57Speaker 1: like Obsession is huge.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Back Rooms open at eighty one million dollars.
- 56:02Speaker 1: It's startingtel A G four and Rensvey and I'm a
- 56:05Speaker 1: little bit classer ff.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna watch this movie.
- 56:07Speaker 1: But apparently you go into a building and there's all
- 56:09Speaker 1: these back rooms and there's like no ending and to
- 56:11Speaker 1: get trapped, and probably it's based on some video game.
- 56:13Speaker 1: And the dude that did it, I'm not kidding, he's
- 56:15Speaker 1: twenty one years old. I don't know how he gets
- 56:16Speaker 1: a budget four million dollars. It's eighty one million dollar opening.
- 56:20Speaker 2: I mean, tell them, like, oh, let's go make the
- 56:21Speaker 2: Mandalorian grogolm like f that noise. Go give these kids
- 56:24Speaker 2: some money. They'll go make some scary ass shit. They'll
- 56:26Speaker 2: make a ton of money.
- 56:27Speaker 4: The most profitable film in a twenty four history already.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Crazy And they made Tim maybe Marty Supreme, which was
- 56:33Speaker 1: a very profitable film that was made for like a
- 56:34Speaker 1: sixty million dollar budget, made one fifty worldwide.
- 56:37Speaker 4: It's not Safty. You know, we know about Safty.
- 56:40Speaker 2: We know who the good Safty is. Okay, all right,
- 56:41Speaker 2: that's the story.
- 56:43Speaker 1: When it comes to Citiphile in sixty How about Blake's back.
- 56:46Speaker 1: JD who played with them in San Jose, Nate played
- 56:49Speaker 1: them in La rob Blake is back NHL front office
- 56:51Speaker 1: after joining Chris McFarland in Nashville, hall of Fame player
- 56:54Speaker 1: and former Kings general manager as the Pretor's knew executive
- 56:57Speaker 1: vice president of hockey Operations. What is Blakey bringing to
- 57:00Speaker 1: nash Vegas.
- 57:02Speaker 3: Well, just that calmness, the godfather Bobby Blake. I think
- 57:07Speaker 3: it's a good That's a nice move by Nashville.
- 57:10Speaker 4: You know McFarlane.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I think the pedigree of McFarland and Colorado and then
- 57:14Speaker 3: you bring some of that. You know, you always see
- 57:16Speaker 3: that veteran, you know, kind of legend that played paired
- 57:20Speaker 3: with not not an analytics guy, but but somebody that's
- 57:24Speaker 3: been around and in the managerial position for a while
- 57:27Speaker 3: and is very effective. So I think it's great to
- 57:31Speaker 3: ford Nashville. I think they needed to make a good move,
- 57:33Speaker 3: make a splash. It took a long time. I feel
- 57:36Speaker 3: like they've been looking for somebody for decades and they
- 57:40Speaker 3: got their guys. So it's gonna be good for nash
- 57:42Speaker 3: It's a big year for them. It's everybody's getting traded
- 57:45Speaker 3: or they make the playoffs. I think half through.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it was weird.
- 57:49Speaker 1: A couple of years ago they were a massive disappointment
- 57:51Speaker 1: in this past season. They're like a pleasant surprise and
- 57:53Speaker 1: still on the outset looking into you're like, Okay, where
- 57:55Speaker 1: are we going here?
- 57:55Speaker 2: That's it's an interesting time for that franchise.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Perry trots out Blake sim Big news are the USHL
- 58:01Speaker 1: announcing plans to established new teams in Arizona, California, and Nevada.
- 58:05Speaker 1: New rules aligned players are transfer between Canadian Junior Hockey
- 58:09Speaker 1: and the NCAA put the USHL in a tough spot.
- 58:12Speaker 1: So could expansion JD saved the league while assisting hockey
- 58:14Speaker 1: development out West.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Geez, I don't know, like the youth, not the youth
- 58:22Speaker 3: like I mean, you can still consider it youth, but
- 58:24Speaker 3: like the junior level and college level, and there's just
- 58:27Speaker 3: so many options.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, I don't days if just your sixteen year
- 58:31Speaker 1: old you're play in the OHHL or the.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Q and the W that's it.
- 58:34Speaker 4: And then yeah, maybe you go to college.
- 58:35Speaker 3: Maybe you you know, maybe you don't make the NHL
- 58:39Speaker 3: and you go college in Canada and get red shirt
- 58:42Speaker 3: if you go to the States, and I like it,
- 58:45Speaker 3: but you know, it's just gonna I just wonder how
- 58:50Speaker 3: it's gonna listen. I think that them talking about maybe
- 58:53Speaker 3: moving the draft to nineteen years old, I think, I
- 58:56Speaker 3: think is a smart thing to do.
- 58:58Speaker 4: I think.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Going to college and maybe these guys coming out a
- 59:03Speaker 3: little bit later is smarter like coming out. You look
- 59:05Speaker 3: at Michael Hage in Montreal's he's gonna come out at
- 59:08Speaker 3: twenty one, twenty two and he's you know, fully developed,
- 59:11Speaker 3: and he's kind of ready to go and understanding that
- 59:15Speaker 3: understands the game a little bit more is a little
- 59:17Speaker 3: bit healthier. I feel like when you come right at
- 59:19Speaker 3: a junior, you're still learning about the game. So I think,
- 59:23Speaker 3: you know, I think it's good that guys coming to
- 59:26Speaker 3: the league later and when they come in because the
- 59:28Speaker 3: NHL is not a development league, it's a it's a
- 59:31Speaker 3: win now league. So you know, that's for the AHL,
- 59:34Speaker 3: that's for college. Guys that come in should be ready
- 59:38Speaker 3: to play, period.
- 59:40Speaker 1: And bottom line is this, when it comes to having
- 59:42Speaker 1: to vote, every vote, counch, you hear that when it
- 59:44Speaker 1: comes to voting, like in the world at large, how
- 59:46Speaker 1: about in hockey, Elliott Freeman and Michael Russo come from
- 59:50Speaker 1: the forty broadcasters failed to return their ballot for the
- 59:53Speaker 1: Jack Adams award, which is voted on every year by
- 59:56Speaker 1: members of the NHL Broadcast Association.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Like, yeah, who gives a shit? Are the best coaching
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: hockey is?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: So should the NHL consider imposing a rule for award
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: vote who don't return.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Their boot on time? Or is it like, well, if
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: you have the ballot you don't want to use, it's
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: up to you. What do you think, Jenny?
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: No, you you you should fucking one thousand percent be voting.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: If you don't have to get a vote, cast your vote.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Yeah, don't.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Yeah, these these guys, these guys that vote anyway are
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: bad enough as it is with who they pick.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Now you're not even voting.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: That's if you don't cast a vote, that's a vote
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: for the Democratic part of the Republican Party right now,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: what it is that it is in the States, if
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: you don't cast your voters to the Republican Party always.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: You get to vote for the Dems right the other way. Yeah,
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: this is not a political show, guys, So just relax.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: But yeah, I think I mean, listen, I guess nobody
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: wanted to vote for Ruffles.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Yeah that was if he wins, fine, I'm just saying
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: to vote him Cooper is who I wanted to win.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: So I'm glad that that's it.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: If you didn't cast the vote for Lindy and you
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: didn't submit, that's a vote for John Cooper exactly. O.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Livia Rep's fear is right now it gets screwed.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it's but yeah, go ahead. I just got to
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: hand out.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Flowers of Hockey Fights Cancer.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Awesome news from the NHL, NHLPA and the v Foundation
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: for Cancer Research. You're the twenty twenty five, twenty six
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: season the Hockey Fights Cancer Camp being raised over nine
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: point one million dollars. Since it's launched in nineteen ninety,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Hockey Fights Cancers raised more than fifty three million dollars,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: staggering numbers.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Dude, that's awesome.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: It's it's you know, you want to throw a joke
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: in on this, Sid please, it's amazing. It's it's amazing
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: the support you know that is garnered for for these
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: organizations and we.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Still can't solve cancer. Why why are you taking my
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: fifty million dollars?
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: List feel like all this money being thrown at it,
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I feel like, well, we'll figure it out eventually. It's
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: kind of like homelessness in California, right, it's all the
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: money thrown at it and they still can't figure it out.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: That's interesting.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Just just just put them in the homes, build homes, right,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Uh no, I listen. It's it's incredible. It's amazing.
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I feel like you can't I don't want to see
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: you can't go through life without having it affect somebody
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: close to you. But it is prevalent, you know, seems
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: to touch everybody in some way, shape or form. You
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: have somebody you know or or a friend or a
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: family friend, and so it's it's something that connects all
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: of us, you know, not a good way, but you know,
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: the support I think that everybody gives for it, and
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: the initiatives are great. So it's listen, it's it's it's
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: amazing the amount of money raised. I just you know,
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: come on, pharmaceutical companies.
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: Figure it out.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Yeah, there's one thing you can't trust. It's the FDA
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: also want to hand out flowers. But one and only
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Connor McDavid. He wins the Ted Lindsay Award, formerly known
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: as a Lester Pearson Best Player, voted by his peers,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: fifth time in ten seasons. That ties Wayne Gretzky for
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the most ever, but the bottle on his JD. He
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: couldn't give a rats ass Edmonton's season and terribly his
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: offseason is going to be bad.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: They have a new coach.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: This might be the most meanless award given to any
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: player this year. He had, Lindsay to McDavid, he probably
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: gave the award away. You can't care less.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: See I disagree with you first time ever. You know,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: I think that Ted Lindsay holds more weight than getting
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: a vote from some you know, some guy with a
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: mustard stain on his shirt.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I think this one actually matters. It's it's a fellow players, it's.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: Your peers, you know, it's your it's the players, And
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: it's kind of one of the most unbiased, honest.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Votes you'll get because guys are voting purely on you know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: some guys will vote for somebody on their team, like
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: you know, everybody in Vegas will vote for Jack Eichel.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: But the fact that unanimously everybody goes Connor is the
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: best player in the league. This is our this is
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: this is the best player, and I think it does
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: carry more weight.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: And it's this is bigger than the Heart Trophy.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: You couldn't argue. You could argue in a bar. And
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: you say, this guy won this many Heart trophies. How
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: many people are going this guy won this many Ted
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Lindsay Awards.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: I mean Gretzky won five and Connor's now tied him. Right,
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: so you know that won eight hearts.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: People know the heart like Bobby are won the Heart.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: See, I'm gonna start, I'm gonna I want to change this.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: I want the Ted Lindsay to become that trophy. Listen
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Mustard saying beat anyway.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: All right, you're the rare guy. I know you are
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: pro Ted Lindsay war over the Heart trophy.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: All right, fellow, I'm not an awards guy though, so
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: you know me like this is like this, I don't
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: consider the Ted Lindsay Award other than that's like a
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: peer reviewed you know, it's just guys. It's a popularity contest.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: I don't know, like all awards, just throw them out.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: You know, it isn't popularity because you said, even like
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: the guys in Vegas are voting for eicles, So I
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: don't even trust this award that much because players just
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: vote for the guys for.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: A possible It was like one there's like one defector
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: on one team that like, you know, like yeah, like
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Brad McNabb like hates Jack Eichel, So he throws a
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: vote to Connor McDavid.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: This is still like mc david's is the most popular guy.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: When I was like younger in my career, I would
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: like throw a vote to, like, you know, some random
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: fourth liner like George Perils would be like he's the
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Ted lindsay.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Because you have a vote, at least you used your vote.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I used it. Yeah, use your vote. Last political thoughts
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: be on this up. Tell the Knicks.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I'm hoping you're gonnaweep the Spurs, but if they lose,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: it's Trump's fault. Trump is coming to the game tonight
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: and they have to cancel the watch parties outside, which
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: have been a huge success because who can afford eleven
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: thousand dollars to go watch this?
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: Do you see those prices?
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: It's staggering.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: I think I'm pounding the Spurs tonight. I think you're right.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: I think I'm gonna pound the Spurs tonight.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Wenby after missing that jumper in game
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: two to pretty clean, look at the turnover in game one,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I think he has the game of his life, and
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: mainly Trump being there saying it, booed vociferously, Spurs win
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Nixon five.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: What do you gotta tell?
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of people hitting on the on the
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Spurs hard in game three.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: I mean, this is tough if you're you know, if
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: your family's been going to these watch parties and now
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: you can at least for one game because the President's
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: going to the aim.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: I mean, that's that's a little rough.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: I'm I never thought this was going to be a
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: sweep a longtime Knicks fan, first time, long time, but
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: uh yeah, I mean, at least they do have the
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: built in excuse if they drop Game three, they can
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: just blame it on the President and move on from there.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: It's going to be a complete fiasco. I mean, celebrity
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: row of Madison Square Garden is crazy enough as it is,
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: so this just bumps it up a notch.
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: But I will say it's it's incredibly exciting.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: It's incredibly exciting as a long time Knicks fan to
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: see them doing any of this. My wife, who has
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: no idea anything about the NBA, so Rick sorry. Jalen
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: Brunston given a postgame interview was.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Like, how old is that guy? He looks like he's fifty.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: It's all she cares about. Who's that guy?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: How old is he? Where's he from?
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: What's his.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: She looks Jilli Brunch looks bad for his age.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he's making seven. That was her only Takeover seven.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Won the first championship with fifty three years.
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: She's like, hey, she doesn't care about that.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: How funny is that, though you want to go to
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Game three for the next you sell your kidney just
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: to get it there.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: It's cheaper to buy a flight to San Antonio and
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: book a hotel and go to the game there.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Then it is too for a local to get a
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: ticket at MSG.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: It's cheaper to put a down payment on a two
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: bedroom condo in Hell's Kitchen, and it is to go
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: to that game.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Jad Benji Goldsmith, director at MLB Network, diehard Knicks fan.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: He flew to San Antonio, got hotel, twelve hundred bucks.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: He's behind the next bench twel hunter backs a steal
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: and then he was on the broadcast Mike Bringers, we
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: got all these New Yorker fans, it's Benji. And then
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: they should have shot up on the roller and Charles
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Barkley goes, look at these cockerroaches. All these cock roads
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: come from New York.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Like, there's Benchi again. He came back directed quick bit.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: So the next time it will be Network. It was
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: the steal too.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: That's unbelievable. Charles Barkley said, look at these cockroaches. I mean,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: these people can't afford anything.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Eric researcher MLB Network, he's going to Game four. His
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: ticket right now. He could sell for twenty five thousand dollars.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: I go, nay, sell the ticket. If they win, it's
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: still not worth twenty five grand. If they lose, you'd
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: be so pissed. Go get twenty five thousand dollars.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Mondam.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: He's trying to reduce costs, but he can't reduce tickets
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: to the It's not the Cathedral, not MSG.
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: That's Dolan's land.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: It is Dolan's land. Trump's his buddy. We'll see what
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: it goes. Thanks for JD battling right now. Is it
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: that bad? It's noticeable? Tell us it's okay, tell us always.
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Well, you're very yeah, you're very sensitive to any voice
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: change and yeah, your your voice is that But that's
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: a big thing being on TV, like I have to
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: watch my voice.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that is true.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: I'm trying to. I'm on vocal arrests at Chainsmokers.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Just go watch The Wizard of Oz. You can't talk
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: for that two hours to enjoy the movie. It's a
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: great spectacle its sphere. Hopefully we'll get Nate Thompson back
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: for the next episode again Mondays and Thursdays. Thanks to
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: to Grimson and Hell Scripted coming at you. Let's hope
