- 0:00Midrash rubber. That's a final one of the week.
- 0:03Parish shut blow. What should we learn today?
- 0:06So let's jump from the plagues of the very first mitzvah given
- 0:09to the Jewish people as as a nation Lama ain't no I'm AB
- 0:14Mitzrayim. The Torah introduces the scene
- 0:16that these were given, but eretz Mitzrayim the Madrid says why
- 0:19doesn't it just say boom Mitzrayim?
- 0:22Why? But Eretz Mitzrayim Ahmed
- 0:25Bikanina says Rebikanina Amaha Kadoshbar, who Hashem said as
- 0:29follows Kutir batora, it says in the Torah Bahut Tamal, where
- 0:34you've got a creditor who wants to take collateral for a
- 0:38outstanding debt, the turf forbids the creditor to enter
- 0:42the debtors home. He must wait for him outside to
- 0:45bring out the item voluntarily, because the guy in the the the
- 0:51one who's got the debt is probably going to bring the item
- 0:53that's the least valuable to him and if he gets that will cause
- 0:57him less distress to get rid of it.
- 1:00Afani ES akak. So Hashem says I'm going to do
- 1:02the same thing, the Ehrats Mitzrayim, the law Bermitsrayim
- 1:07to the Torres al Shamsat to motion Aaron in the land of
- 1:10Egypt and not in Egypt. And it says similarly, Spekhein
- 1:15Amar Moshe Khadseiti ET Tahir, when I leave the city, I'm going
- 1:19to then turn to Hashem in prayer.
- 1:24So before we make sense of Hashem's comments, that's the
- 1:27very comment itself. This idea that's found
- 1:31throughout the Midrash. The Midrash says no in Hashem's
- 1:34to fill in what would be written.
- 1:35It's an interesting one, as if Hashem it also adheres to the
- 1:40concepts of the Torah to if someone who's collecting a debt
- 1:48has to be sensitive to the needs of the person that has a debt to
- 1:52act with certain leniency, so too Hashem wants to enforce his
- 1:58punishments. But like the person collecting a
- 2:02piece of collateral, he does so with leniency.
- 2:05And Hashem entered the land, entered Egypt to settle the
- 2:09debt, the punishment would have been much harder.
- 2:14So after having given us quite an elaborate understanding of
- 2:17the plagues and the depth and discussing where they came from
- 2:21or what that darkness was like in the severity of the locusts
- 2:24and how it broke the Egyptians, the Midrashic tradition is still
- 2:28suggesting here that there was a measure of leniency in how
- 2:31Hashem punished the Egyptians for what they did.
- 2:35But what if the debtor refuses to bring out a collateral for
- 2:40his debt? Then the court as a last resort
- 2:44will go to the house and seize property.
- 2:46So when the Egyptians refused despite everything to release
- 2:49the Egyptians and Hashem had no choice but to enter the main
- 2:53city of Egypt itself. As as if Hashem is going in, I
- 2:57shall go through the land of Egypt on this night and I will
- 3:00strike every first born. So that that parallels what
- 3:03would happen in extreme situation.
- 3:05I'm Robbie Shimon Gadolaki Batanche, Charlie's role.
- 3:08How great is Hashem's affection for the Jewish people?
- 3:11Shinigla kadosburg hubba makbim coma vodazzara.
- 3:14God revealed himself for this, for our sake in the place of
- 3:18idol worship. Egypt was full of idols, of me
- 3:22of them calm teen offer and a place of filth.
- 3:26OK, you had piles of frogs. Without stinking animals would
- 3:30have been an absolutely putrid area.
- 3:32A place of impurity as well because of all the death that
- 3:36was there. But she really got aligned in
- 3:39order to redeem the Jewish people.
- 3:43So it's an interesting one. You've got a measure of leniency
- 3:47directed towards the enemies of the Jewish people.
- 3:51Which part I'm suggesting suggests I'm suggesting that
- 3:55perhaps what we've been taught here is a teaching that we're
- 3:58familiar with, with modern scholarship as well, that
- 4:02everyone's made but Salaman or Kim in the image of Hashem.
- 4:06And regardless of what you've done, you're still worthy of the
- 4:09carrots of respect. And that's towards the Egyptians
- 4:15and towards the Jewish people. Even in a place where they were
- 4:19suffering, they were reminded ultimately of the love that
- 4:24Hashem has for them, for us. Have a great day.
