- 0:19Returnerboard podcast. Maryland week another chance for the Huskers to go bowling hunters,
- 0:24Zarbadiki, Austin Rose, the Coda free tag. Coming off a tough loss
- 0:28from the seventy six ers his Celtics, but wearing that shirt brown, you
- 0:34bet, even in the loss, you still wear it proud. They're still
- 0:37gonna win at all. Not worried, no way, Man Timberwolves, Hey,
- 0:43they might freaking good. Dak and I got a big matchup in the
- 0:49NFL this week, Saints and Vikings. I'm a little scared of Josh Dobbs
- 0:57or Daron Hill, either one two headed monster. I don't know if I
- 1:00have far Dak. I'll tell you what. The Saints are not very good.
- 1:07I mean, we're somehow finding ways to win games. Not not pretty.
- 1:12Our schedule is pretty favorable the end of the year, so I'm happy
- 1:15with that. We're gonna find a way into the playoffs. I get slaughtered
- 1:19first round wild Guard weekend. But it's all right. The best player in
- 1:23the league just came out by our though. Good luck, damn right.
- 1:27Jefferson, Yep, he's back with the Dove's magic. Mm hmm, gotta
- 1:38love it all right, Well, it is Maryland Week and Huskers have a
- 1:47chance to go bowling here. Guys. We are also three force of the
- 1:52way through the year, so as we have done after three games in six
- 1:55games, it's time to reset our expectation and just remind ourselves where we're at
- 2:04and where we've come and not get caught up in all of the extra stuff
- 2:08here. So where are we awesome? Where are we right now? Where
- 2:12where are we? Uh? We're in a weird position where every week I'm
- 2:17like, yeah, we could win. If we lose, it's like,
- 2:21yeah, okay, we could lose. I don't know, Like we're better
- 2:25than how much of that is us versus our opponents? I'd say it's a
- 2:34good mix. You know, we hurt ourselves more than we probably help ourselves
- 2:40on offense, and we help ourselves more than we hurt ourselves on defense.
- 2:44So that's kind of a fifty fifty watch there. And our opponents haven't been
- 2:47great, but they're not There are teams that we would have lost to in
- 2:53previous years, so it's like, well, we're moving in the right direction.
- 2:57I feel better about this team than when we started this season. So
- 3:00there's the question, Dak, are this year's teams. Austin made a point
- 3:06here is you know we lost to these teams last year, right? Are
- 3:09this year's teams the same as last year? Are we playing different opponents?
- 3:14Are? Or are they worse? You're the Huskers are way better than last
- 3:22year's team, And I think a lot of that has to do with coaching.
- 3:25But I think the teams you're playing are worse. I don't know.
- 3:30I think your defense is miles better than last year. Your offense you last
- 3:37ye yet a way, way way better quarterback, I think so, but
- 3:42I don't know. I think it's mostly the opponents are worse that That's probably
- 3:46the main thing. It's interesting, it is it's interesting to think back through
- 3:53our season and where we're at. I'm with you. Our defense has looked
- 3:57a lot better, right and both our offensive defense looked completely different scheme wise
- 4:01than what we saw last year or previous years under Frost. So yeah,
- 4:06our defense has looked better. Our production on offense it's been about the same
- 4:15and the same being not great. We're not scoring a whole lot of points.
- 4:19We're still turning the ball over at a very very high clip. But
- 4:25the difference is the style of which we're playing, which allows our defense to
- 4:32play better. I think in previous years we talked about it a lot here,
- 4:36our offense, our style, we weren't producing and it was three and
- 4:41out, or even if we got a first down, we had the ball
- 4:44for a minute forty five seconds, then our defense was back on the field.
- 4:46It's very different this year to where if we get a first down now,
- 4:49instead of being admit at forty five off the clock, it might be
- 4:53three or four minutes. And I do think that in itself has our defense
- 4:58better. But then obviously credit the coach staff DAC, like you said,
- 5:01they've done a better job of understanding game management, clock management, and the
- 5:06overall style of which we want to play. So that being said, to
- 5:12Austin's point, we've won some games, we've lost some games. We don't
- 5:16know if we're going to win or lose the rest of our games in our
- 5:19schedule, but we are here saying that they're winnable. Right. They're not
- 5:26out of reach, all three of these are, but they are probably going
- 5:29to beat tough games to win. And going into the year, expectation wise,
- 5:34we wanted a Bowl game. I think anyway, I think coming into
- 5:38the area, it's like, I really want six. If we get five,
- 5:41I'm okay, And anything more than six is you know, icing on
- 5:46the cake. And we are in position. We're at five already and we're
- 5:51in a position to be competitive to get six for the next three games.
- 5:55And if if I told you guys coming in the season, coming into week
- 5:59ten, and you'd be five and four and Harbor gonna be your starting quarterback,
- 6:01what would you guys say? You know what, A really good question.
- 6:10The starting quarterback would have been a shock. But as far as our
- 6:15record goes, and just the stuff that'll talked about preseason, even the
- 6:19first couple of games, I'm not surprised because I do still think going into
- 6:25the year, we thought Wisconsin was gonna be tough, and especially early in
- 6:28the year, Maryland was looking really, really good. We thought that game
- 6:30was gonna be tough. And then Iowa is always gonna be a toss up
- 6:33every year no matter what because their arrival. So to answer the question,
- 6:40I guess I probably wouldn't have been too surprised. I think our emotions have
- 6:44gone on a roller coaster here a little bit of we're gonna go bowling easy,
- 6:48right, Look at our schedule and then now we're like, hold on
- 6:51a second, like we got to make sure we win a game. And
- 6:55I think that that feeling is what players want. The message needs to be
- 7:00to the program is Okay, we got to win this week. Don't worry
- 7:02about ah, we got to win one of the last three. No,
- 7:05we got to win this week, and that all it matters. And I
- 7:09think coaching staff's done a good job of managing those expectations and thoughts from the
- 7:15players. But you gotta do it again. Gotta do it again this week
- 7:16against a Maryland team that has lost four in a row. But they're going
- 7:23to be very different than what we've seen our past three or four games from
- 7:27these Big ten West teams. If you told me coming into the year,
- 7:30we're going to be on our backup qb our top three receiving options and top
- 7:35two running backs, we're going to be out for the year, and we
- 7:39were five and four, I'd be very happy. So I feel like I
- 7:43gotta be happy. Yeah, And I guess you got to keep in mind
- 7:46too. Heiner Harberg was like overlooked and overshadowed by the previous coaching staff,
- 7:53and when there was even talk of putting him in. We all. I
- 7:57I was like, oh boy, no, no, no good at all,
- 8:00Like, don't do this. And then he came in. Everybody's a
- 8:03little bit happy, and now everybody's mad again and they want to Well I'm
- 8:07not saying us, I'm saying the general population in the talk this week is
- 8:11all about Heiner Carberg and a pour of a performance he's had and how our
- 8:16quarterback sucks. Well again, we can. We can spend the whole podcast
- 8:20talking about it. Bottom line is it's who we have. And Jeff Sims
- 8:26has had not one, not two, but three different times to come in
- 8:31and show that he can learn from his mistakes. He has not done that.
- 8:35And now people will want Chubb a PERTI Oh my goodness like that.
- 8:41And you brought that up because that was at work and it's almost like,
- 8:43do you think we put Chub Perdi in? And I was like, who
- 8:46the are you? Like? Where what what gives you the right team to
- 8:50come up here and be like, ah, yeah, we should probably put
- 8:52Chub pretty in. Brothers like third on the depth chart for a reason.
- 8:56It's the cl you don't remember him at all from last year. Yeah,
- 9:01I don't know what they like, and yeah, whatever mast the Coscar fans
- 9:07just hating on the quarterback, and yes, ideally we probably want to get
- 9:11someone better. But rural Maiden is a comment and his presser on Monday.
- 9:16How you know if we're gonna coach Heiner can get him ready as if he's
- 9:20our starter this year next year. And that's not saying we're not gonna go
- 9:24out try to look for a transfer portal guy. But he's who we have
- 9:30right now. And I think the more interesting or telling topic is not for
- 9:37this year in our quarterback position, because that is Yes, I saw clips
- 9:39all over freaking X and Twitter or whatever you want to call it, all
- 9:43about all the throws and the mysteries and look at this and look at that.
- 9:48This was an air. Yeah, people like that. You could look
- 9:50at any freaking quarterback in any age or NFL call. You're gonna find mistakes,
- 9:56like we're not. We don't need a perfect guy back there, especially
- 10:01throwing the ball. But moving forward into in the future years and we talked
- 10:05about will he be your starting quarterback next year? We don't know. I
- 10:09think the bigger question is what style are we going to continue to or try
- 10:15to play next year moving forward, and we know we want to run the
- 10:20ball. We know that, right, but does that consist more option?
- 10:24Does that consist more eye formation? Does that consists like Dak wants the triple
- 10:28option? You know what does that look like? And then based off of
- 10:31that, that's how you then go grab your quarterback in the portal and then
- 10:37yeah, expect there to be a competition next year for sure. What Rule
- 10:43needs to do. I think we need to do is come out and just
- 10:46say unless there's an injury, Harberg's that started for the rest of year,
- 10:48no matter what, and then that'll put the questions that they'll put the questions
- 10:54in right there. I don't know if they are people in the sports media
- 11:01actually asking that. I don't remember that being in the press conferences. No,
- 11:05but Rule definitely came out and knew that that was a topic of conversation
- 11:11and addressed it and hit it on the head. So I think you did
- 11:13a good job of that, and yes, I agree if the questions asked,
- 11:18I believe that would be his answer. A couple other comments that stood
- 11:22out to me on Monday were the comments about the refs and the two The
- 11:31one comment was we've lost two games by misstouchdowns and one because the team was
- 11:37cheating or something along those lines, ceiling science it. So, yeah,
- 11:43I want to hear your guys take on this because we've always talked on this
- 11:46podcast. We've talked a lot about refs are never the issue, and Rule
- 11:50did say that reps are never the the root cause for the outcome of the
- 11:54game. But he did come out and say everybody knows that that was a
- 12:01miss passinger for everybody knows that those were two two missed touchdown calls. And
- 12:07I don't disagree with him on that statement, but what you're saying has an
- 12:11effect on what people think, your players, in your program, and the
- 12:16fans. And I do believe Rule is very calculated when it comes to saying
- 12:20stuff like that. I do think he rambles sometimes, but I think everything
- 12:24he said he does a very good job. So what what do you think
- 12:28his purpose of bringing that up was in the press conference? I think it
- 12:37was more of because obviously that's all he's gotten asked. I mean, he
- 12:39got to ask that right after the game. He's that's all that people want
- 12:43to talk about is the freaking rest of the last game. And so there
- 12:46comes a point where it's like, yes, I know that those were missed
- 12:50calls. Like I'm not dumb, We're not dumb, the fans aren't dumb.
- 12:56They're totally right to know that those are miscalls. I mean, he
- 13:01didn't blame the loss of the game on it. He's just like, yeah,
- 13:03that happened. You're right, they were wrong, and that's it.
- 13:07So I think that was the point. It's like, all right, we're
- 13:09moving on, Like, you're right, those were the miss calls. We
- 13:15all saw it. We lost the game, We're on to Maryland and dak
- 13:22a couple of call outs on Michigan. I mean, he talked about it
- 13:26there, but then at the end of it he also brought it up again.
- 13:30That was awesome. The but first off of those calls. The worst
- 13:35part about those calls is they both went review Like it wasn't that it was
- 13:39just stuck on the field. The refs called it. They both went reviews,
- 13:41so that makes it even worse. So they had three minutes to look
- 13:45on them both and still made the wrong call. And then Michigan. I
- 13:48thought him calling Michigan was the best thing ever that was. That was hilarious.
- 13:52I'm gonna guess that's part of like a collective calculated move by the rest
- 13:56of the Big Ten coaches. I got trying hard to get Harbory out.
- 14:01They're trying really hard. And I don't know if he would have said that
- 14:03if it wasn't like if they hadn't had that Coaches and ad meeting last into
- 14:09last week, right, Ryan Walter was very very direct abode and yeah,
- 14:16you mentioned that meeting that went on. I think, yeah, I think
- 14:20there was an agreeance or something that said, you know what, something needs
- 14:22to happen. And even today, you know, there's a lot more stuff
- 14:26that's coming out about Michigan fending the case, maybe finding potential relations to Ryan
- 14:31day as the investigators. Like, there's a lot a lot here with this
- 14:37investigation and whatever you want to call it. It counter accusations too. I
- 14:43mean, it's not just Michigan's in trouble, it's hey, these people were
- 14:48stealing our signs and sharing it with people. I'm surprised. I am surprised,
- 14:52not surprised that there hasn't been any suspension yet. But later we get
- 14:58into the year, though, I think the harder it's going to be for
- 15:01the Big Ten to really definitely so we'll see. My issue is is,
- 15:07what's the freaking point of the NCAA. Why are we not like there's a
- 15:13governing body that has these rules. They didn't break a big ten rule.
- 15:16They broke an NCAA rule, And the NCAA is like a big ten.
- 15:22You guys can figure it out. It's like, no, that's what we
- 15:24pay you to do. Yeah, you're supposed to be it's your rule they
- 15:28broke. I understand. I understand why they're waiting because it's like, we
- 15:33got to make sure this is like air tight because they could win the national
- 15:37title. I don't think they will, but they could, so you don't
- 15:39want to fuck that up because you're you jumped the gun. But yeah,
- 15:45the NCAAA needs to be the one driving here. What's what's funny? And
- 15:50it's very strategic on Michigan's they're trying to drag this thing out, as they
- 15:54should. So it's just funny to see it go back and forth out and
- 15:58new stuff come in so they have to investigate more. And yeah, the
- 16:02NCAA is kind of like, eh, we don't, we don't do we
- 16:03really want to be involved in this. It's just funny and and and over
- 16:08something that still, as we talked about when it came out, we think
- 16:11it is Verry Minor. Did they break rules? Yes, like for sure.
- 16:18Is it giving them an advantage? Yeah, I do. I mean
- 16:22I think it does give an advantage, right, definitely, it gives an
- 16:25advantage. But to me still, I don't think it's like it's a massive
- 16:30advantage, Like I really don't. I don't see a whole lot in that.
- 16:36So it's just it's fascinating and how people are still talking about it.
- 16:42I've Harbaugh won sixty games before the scandal started and after Yeah, mark this
- 16:52down tomorrow, something's coming down. Whoa lock of the year? Boys,
- 16:59something is coming down tomorrow over under one half of a day for a Michigan
- 17:03penalty. If I would have to guess tomorrow, they're gonna suspend hard about
- 17:07two games. I've heard the game in the week after two games fills Okay,
- 17:15I think that'll come from Michigan because they'll be like, will suspend them
- 17:18two games? Then nothing, They'll just say like they did for the first
- 17:23thing they did, they spend four games. Then they didn't like there was
- 17:27like a weird self imposed thing that they didn't didn't divorce, and there's what
- 17:33Michigan's gonna do. I agree, they're gonna do something on their own to
- 17:36cover their ass for the rest of this year so that they can play in
- 17:40postseason, and then if there's anything more or major that the NCAA or Big
- 17:45Ten want to do, they'll do it after the year. That's I think
- 17:47what Michigan's gonna do. That's dak. I like that. I like that
- 17:49thought. I think that's what they're gonna do. Just wait when Ohio State
- 17:53beats Michigan rivalry weekend and there's gonna be a bad reping call. The conspiracy
- 18:00theorists are gonna crawl out the Big Ten Ohio State two wins so they don't
- 18:04have to deal with the Michigan All right, boss coaching that game, Let's
- 18:11stop talking about Michigan, Dan. Let's let's move on to Maryland. All
- 18:19right, we're here, we moved on. We moved on. Uh.
- 18:29Here's the first thing I gotta say on Maryland. And this is more about
- 18:32the game in the red last three, but this one specifically. I had
- 18:37this game very very high in our most important games of the year, and
- 18:42that echo something that rules set out every game in November needs to be the
- 18:48most important games and need to play like its postseason play pretty much. And
- 18:53that's what this game is. All these games that we're gonna play here the
- 18:57next three weeks are going to bed for a bowl game spot. And I
- 19:02want to remind everybody how important a ballgame is, not only for Nebraska,
- 19:07but for every team that gets to a ball game. You get about anywhere
- 19:11from twenty to twenty five more practices if you make a ball game. Think
- 19:18about the last six years that we have made a ball game, we are
- 19:22missing out on one hundred practices ish compared to every team like Iowa Wisconsin that
- 19:30have made a bowl game. That's how many shorter like, that's how many
- 19:33fewer practices we've had. And for a new staff, just that in itself,
- 19:37who gives a shit? Who are playing? What the outcome of the
- 19:40game is to continue to build the culture and the program and the identity of
- 19:45what we're doing on both ends of the ball like, it's important. So
- 19:51that being said, Maryland is going to give us a very different look of
- 19:56what we're used to seeing. Talah tagaby Loa, I didn't realize this until
- 20:03I was looking at it. He has, like all of Maryland's passing records
- 20:07everything best quarterback is the big ten probably probably his status complete sixty of his
- 20:21passes, twenty one touchdown, seven interceptions. That's pretty good. Even though
- 20:26they've lost four in a row. He's still playing great in those games.
- 20:33He is, and they are. They're throwing it more than ever now their
- 20:36last four games they've had their four fewest rushing yards in and so now,
- 20:42granted their four last four teams maybe have been the best teams on their schedule
- 20:48so far, but like we talked about him earlier in the year, they
- 20:52were they were kicking, they were beating teams easy, and they beat Michigan
- 20:56State on the road thirty one to nine. And now they're throwing it even
- 21:02more. They probably know they're not going to be able to run it on
- 21:04us because nobody's been able to run it on us, which is props to
- 21:07our defense. But expect them to come in slinging the ball and throwing it
- 21:11around and to Lea as he throws it for two hundred and fifty ish or
- 21:18more yards a game like that's what they're going to do, and they're going
- 21:22to attack our secondary and test us vertically. Tony White talked a lot about
- 21:30the importance of forcing turnovers this week. Over the last four games, Maryland
- 21:36has had nine turnovers. The first five games they had three. They are
- 21:41turning it over more now, and we need to force turnovers. We're not
- 21:45great at doing that. We still aren't. We've got a couple of you
- 21:48here and there, but we have not been a defense that's good at turning
- 21:52them over. That's what scares me a little bit with this offense, because
- 21:55if they don't turn it over and they keep scoring, we could higher total
- 22:03this year the World East. For this week, yeah, I mean last
- 22:11week their leading rusher again it is against Penn State, so top ten team.
- 22:15Their leading rusher had four yards. So it's tough to say. They
- 22:21lost to Northwestern thirty three to twenty seven. They scored twenty seven on Northwestern.
- 22:25They lost to Illinois twenty seven twenty four. They scored twenty four on
- 22:27Illinois. They put up seventeen on Ohio State, fifteen on Penn State,
- 22:33and then forty four against Indiana, thirty one against Michigan State, forty two
- 22:37against Virginia. I mean, those teams aren't great, but then thirty eight
- 22:41and thirty eight, so they can score. That's my concern is that if
- 22:45we can't control them scoring, we can't keep up scoring. It's gonna be
- 22:51difficult. It's gonna be difficult to obviously score twenty four points. I mean,
- 22:55as we've shown like, it's gonna be hard to get there. You
- 23:00cannot get in a shootout in this game. This is you can control this
- 23:03clock like no other. Thank thanks for pointing that out. That we can't
- 23:07get out you can't. You gotta control this clock and go on like six
- 23:12seminente drives every time that you have a chance to score. And if if
- 23:18Harvard passes over fifteen times, Sadderfield kick him out of the stadium last game.
- 23:30Yeah, yeah, that is way, way, way too many.
- 23:33And when you're playing from behind, I mean, yeah, you're gonna be
- 23:37throwing it naturally. Here's what we need to do on offense, and Sadderfield
- 23:44mentioned it in my mind, and it is kind of a small thing,
- 23:48but it ends up being a big thing. On first down, we have
- 23:52to get positive yards and a lot of times that needs to come through the
- 23:59run. I think last week we tried one of those by wide receiver screen
- 24:06bubble tunnel screens early on that got blown up for an incomplete pass. We
- 24:11cannot have negative plays on first down because we get in second and long,
- 24:17and regardless whether they're running and throwing, then it becomes third, medium or
- 24:19long, and then we're in deep shit. So first down production, I
- 24:26think it's very important this week with Harburg we have to utilize his legs more
- 24:34and quit a. I get the traditional quarterbacks sitting in the pocket. I
- 24:41get that, like that's a style that's not Harburg's spyful We've clearly seen he
- 24:47is best when he's able to move and get out in the out of the
- 24:51pocket and make the decision to tuck his head and run or throw a quick
- 24:55little side arm sling pass across the middle. That's when he's at his best.
- 24:59Not drop him back, taking a three step drop and trying to read
- 25:03defenses and make throws. That's not it. That's not it. So we
- 25:07need to utilize its strength on offense and keep it simple for him so he's
- 25:11not thinking and just playing when he's in that pocket. He is real quick
- 25:18to just quit on the passing play. It's not he does maybe one read
- 25:23if that and he's done with the play already he's taken off or just loses
- 25:27it control of the play. Yes, and that's that's offensive line partially there,
- 25:36you know, but also that is just pocket presence and knowing when the
- 25:38right time is to leave the pocket or step up in the pocket avoid a
- 25:44defender. You know, when he does try to scramble, sometimes it looks
- 25:48like he doesn't know what he's doing. Then he'll break three tackles and gain
- 25:52fifteen yards like you did a couple of times last. But we don't need
- 25:56to give him the opportunity to do that if our plays are designed in a
- 25:59way that gets have already outside the pocket and moving and keep it simple where
- 26:03Okay, you're rolling, you're looking tight, end, you're looking flat.
- 26:07If not, take off and see if you can get four yards. Like
- 26:10that's the kind of stuff I think we need to do on our shorter just
- 26:15general, trying to on first down, like first and ten, if we're
- 26:18going to pass it, run a bootleg. Don't run a five step drop
- 26:22with a vertical I just I just don't like that on first down. I
- 26:26don't think that's going to help the game management and clock management situation here.
- 26:33And let's see what their defensive stats are. They're not great. I mean
- 26:38from a point, it's a loud standpoint like Northwestern's scorn thirty three in Illinois
- 26:42score twenty seven on them, right, So like we should theoretically be able
- 26:47to score more points, but I can't say why we will because of what
- 26:52we've shown. I don't know. I guess I think what we do need
- 26:59an offense. You know what I thought of this and I forgot to say
- 27:02it on Sunday. What Michigan State did to us last week is what we
- 27:07need to do in our last three games. Michigan State's offense is not good.
- 27:11Dak said they're the worst in the Big Ten. Like, they're not
- 27:17good? What did they What did they end up getting? They had three
- 27:21or four explosive plays down the field. A couple of them were very much
- 27:25by design. I wouldn't even call them trick plays, but just very well
- 27:29schemed up plays that they executed. Hit a guy deep across the middle at
- 27:33a couple of broken plays that turned into explosive plays for them. And if
- 27:40we can get a couple of those, that's going to help. Well.
- 27:41We haven't had many of those, if rarely any that help us when we're
- 27:47ahead. I'm not talking about when you're down ten in desperation, Bte.
- 27:51No, when you're ahead, we need to break break a run, break
- 27:53a run for thirty five forty yards, like we kind of did earlier in
- 27:56the year against some of our lesser opponents. We need to see some of
- 28:00that and be creative and how we do that. I'm not saying we need
- 28:03to run eight trick plays. It's not. That's not it. But we
- 28:07do maybe need to find a way to be a little bit more unpredictable so
- 28:12we can break a forty yard run, a fifty yard pass something like that
- 28:17to get the ball at least across the field into the Maryland territory. I
- 28:23don't disagree, I mean, because I think we're gonna have to score.
- 28:26I don't. I think our defense will be able to do pretty well,
- 28:29but I still expect them to put up twenty points. You can't you can't
- 28:37just go back and hand off either on first down. Every time I was
- 28:41saying Harbord can't pass, but you're gonna have to throw in a pass every
- 28:44now and then on first down. So I'm kind of going against what I
- 28:47said there. But if you're going hand off every time first down, I
- 28:49wonder you can't get in the yards. It's very predictable. I mean it
- 28:56is. It's very predictable. So that's where the fine line of OK,
- 29:00like what are we what are we trying to do? Are are you know?
- 29:03Are we if we are going to mix it up? How are we
- 29:07doing that? Is it just send Malachi Coleman deep and blob it up to
- 29:10him. Like I feel like that's kind of what all we have in our
- 29:14back pocket right now for past plays. So I think we had like that
- 29:19jet sweep with Josh Fleeks a couple of weeks ago, and it's like,
- 29:22we should do that. Yeh. And we saw some shotgun two back sets
- 29:30last week. We saw I think the other formation that we showed a lot
- 29:33was that trip's bunch off to the right. We showed some of that.
- 29:37So I think our offensive coaches are kind of I mean, they're not really
- 29:45getting too much criticism. I think there's obviously been a lot of injuries,
- 29:48but this is their week to really improve it. It's it's improve it week.
- 29:52And I think if they have, if they're good coaches and have the
- 29:56ability to again design play this week that benefits our strengths against a team that
- 30:03is gonna be not saying they're a bad defense, but lesser than what we've
- 30:07seen the past couple of weeks. But let's see what we can do.
- 30:10Let's see how creative we can be. See if our offense, I'm not
- 30:11saying score thirty eight points, See if we can get the twenty four or
- 30:15thirty and win a game thirty to twenty four or something like that, Because
- 30:21yeah, Maryland's gonna score. If we hold them to under fourteen, that's
- 30:26a phenomenal game by our defense. But I think it's gonna be a little
- 30:32higher scoring this week, in my opinion, I agree, which is why
- 30:37I don't love this game. I don't either. If you're looking for an
- 30:41offensive coordinator, Brian Farns is open, we'll take him. Hey Man.
- 30:45Number twenty two Iowa Hawkeyes. God damn it, them getting ranked only five
- 30:55spots. That's embarrassing. Did you see what they're over under with? Is
- 31:00that one of your picks locks of the week taking the under of the I
- 31:03set my own under on that. You set your own under, yep,
- 31:07I don't spoil anything. Then the spread for this week's game against Maryland is
- 31:17two and a half Maryland and the over unders forty four and a half.
- 31:21So and you gotta buy a streaming subscription subscription now, definitely, what's that
- 31:30a streaming subscription? H yeah, what is the take on I don't want
- 31:37to burn too much time, we gotta get to picks. But what's the
- 31:38take on football games on Peacock? I hate it. I kind of do
- 31:44too good for peaks NBC just showing on your freaking channel, man, Because
- 31:51if we're gonna be watching down at the tailgate spot, there's gonna be deep
- 31:55different points of the game. Someone's gonna be cheering over there, We're gonna
- 31:57be two seconds behind him. It's ever gonna be the same. So be
- 32:00so you already know what's gonna happen before the play even happens. It's it's
- 32:04gonna suck. I I like you my take on it. It's Peacock's way
- 32:10in NBC's way of trying to get their streaming service rolling, right, I
- 32:15totally understand. Yeah, the business side of it, I kind of like
- 32:20it. Now, Yeah, it does it make it more difficult to watch
- 32:23the game, Yeah, it is, but it's smart on their part.
- 32:29And you know what, I don't have to worry about it because I'm going.
- 32:34And if and you know what, if you if you don't want to
- 32:37pay for Peacock and get a subscription. Tickets are about eight bucks right now,
- 32:40so go to the game. They're about the same as getting the subscription
- 32:44to Peacock. Listen on the radio. I'll prate my eyes on the other
- 32:50game that's on TV. All right, you know what, let's do score
- 32:55predictions while we're still on the topic of the game here uh uh oh,
- 33:00last key or thing before score predictions. Guys are punting has to be better
- 33:07than they're punting. It has to be better than their punting. And they
- 33:09have a good punter. Michigan State had a phenomenal punner. Maryland's got a
- 33:14good punter too. Buchini has to be better. He has to be better.
- 33:19And if he punts better then Maryland. I like our chances And that
- 33:22is so funny to say. And yeah, that affirms we're in the Big
- 33:28ten West. Have a better punter than the other team. Dak loved it.
- 33:35I've never gone into a game thinking, God, I hope our punter
- 33:37plays good. That is where we are at all right score prediction time.
- 33:44I'll go first. I mentioned now, I think it's gonna be a little
- 33:47higher scoring. I am. I just I feel like our team and I
- 33:52hope I'm wrong. I hope coach will proves me wrong, and the staff
- 33:55and all the preparation. I feel like we think our goal is going to
- 34:00a bowl game. We got three two more games left after this. I
- 34:05feel like we're maybe not going to quite have the foot to the pedal to
- 34:09the floor. But so with that being said, I'm gonna take Maryland.
- 34:16I don't like saying this, but Maryland thirty one, Nebraska eighteen. I've
- 34:23got Maryland twenty seven, Nebraska seventeen. I got Maryland thirty one, Nebraska
- 34:34twenty four. God, I hope we can get twenty four. Deck.
- 34:37I hope you're right on that. Okay, that it's pick time. Get
- 34:49back what they want. You got an updated record for US quick that's still
- 34:52in review. There's two picks that I'm contacting the NC DOUBLEA about. I'll
- 34:57get back to that. Okay, sounds great. You might hear back in
- 35:01like four months. All right, timer is ready and go? All right?
- 35:13First one penn State plus four and half, I said, earlier.
- 35:15Don't think Harvbar's gon be coaching that game. Next one Florida State minus fourteen
- 35:20aast Miami, and Miami's dog shit right now. Missouri plus one against Tennessee.
- 35:23Missouri's really underrated. They're really freaking good. Rutgers Iowa. I set
- 35:29this under under twenty four points. I don't think. I don't think Iowa.
- 35:36I don't. I hate it. Find it down? Oh oh you
- 35:38ohe you minus thirteen is wester need please belove a god win? Oh miss
- 35:44plus ten and a half against Georgia. I don't think Georgia is that good?
- 35:47Mit okay. Michigan State plus thirty one and a half against Ohio State.
- 35:52Ohio State's not good. Florida LSU minus thirteen half against Florida. LSU
- 35:59can outscore every I hope Jane Damas playing tod not look that up? All
- 36:02right? Excellent, KYU mind screen and a half. KU is really underrated,
- 36:07probably the third best team in the twelve. Louisville mind playing at Virginia.
- 36:12Louisville. You know what Virginia is is just awful. Last special pick
- 36:16here, Vikings money line. They're gonna kill the Saints. You go the
- 36:23hack all. I gotta say, you have some very hilarious, awesome reasoning,
- 36:30and then you just have the ones that are like, they're not very
- 36:32good. They're not good. You have like three of those in a row
- 36:38right in the middle. They're not very good. They're not very good.
- 36:42Yeah, it's because George is not good. Ohio State's not good, and
- 36:47they're both gonna be in the playoffs, especial Hillo State. They're they're not
- 36:51good. Are you worried about Oklahoma? You seeing the little nervous there?
- 36:57No, not at all. You had to use the word please please win.
- 37:04Yeah, I'm a little worried. I'm not gonna lie that we might
- 37:07see in Oklahoma Iowa ball game. What about Nebraska? That'd be cool too,
- 37:15but it could happen, Dak. You gotta start losing games for that
- 37:19to happen. I don't want Iowa Oklahoma a ball game. Good God,
- 37:23Dak. If O you and Nebraska play in a ball game, we'll go
- 37:27to it. You and I. Okay, there's a shot Austin. You're
- 37:31welcome to come to Yeah, okay, hopefully hopefully its in Vegas. Uh,
- 37:37you gotta shout out nebrasketball three point percentage looking pretty good, No,
- 37:43Kaisei, they looked great. They did look really good. Also, shout
- 37:46out to lady Skurts got a five star recruit. Yeah once once. Once
- 37:52we beat her, then we can talk about her. Hey that I've seen
- 37:55her play live many Yeah, he's all a lowest scoring performance, I sure
- 38:01did. And also the volleyball team beat Rutgers tonight to me or not Northwestern
- 38:07excuse me? Still undefeated. I do also want to apologize to the Michigan
- 38:13State basketball team as by me going to one of their practices, I have
- 38:17put my curse on them and they lost to James Madison. So I apologize
- 38:22to any Michigan State fan out there that likes their basketball program. One for
- 38:27twenty from three, that's that's impressive. It's rough, not good. All
- 38:31right. We will probably have we might some sort of tailgate pregame pod.
- 38:38It's an early game eleven am kick and then we'll be back Sunday. Go
- 38:43Big Red GBR Bloomer sooner that
