- 0:05Speaker 3: At seven thirty last night, I got in my car
- 0:08and drove somewhere in the dark.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Wow, what aren't you.
- 0:13Speaker 3: I went to my first self defense class, oh at
- 0:18United Studios of Self Defense in Salt Lake. It was cool.
- 0:24I actually like karate chop, like that's actually a move.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And you know this little part of your.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Neck right here, Oh yeah, that's a great if you
- 0:33you jabbed that with two.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Fingers, Gina right there, Gina. I don't know if you
- 0:39know this, but we're on the radio.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It's a you know, yeah, like on mash where you learned,
- 0:47put you where like that the.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Little yeah, yeah, just two fingers in that.
- 0:57Speaker 5: It doesn't matter how big.
- 0:58Speaker 2: To carry it to carry.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But so yeah, so I'm in the class.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And by the way, you can sign up for a
- 1:05class United Studios of Self Defense.
- 1:07Speaker 5: They have a free trial period. You can go check
- 1:10it out.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And then they paired us up with people. And I
- 1:13was paired up with this girl.
- 1:15Speaker 3: And she she she said, you can hit me, and
- 1:20I'm like, no, I no, make you.
- 1:23Speaker 5: She's like, no, really you can.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And I like it when people hit me.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Maybe in the next class off because I would pull
- 1:30my punches like, well, no, I'm not gonna hit you.
- 1:32Speaker 1: She's like, no, you gotta you gotta get in there.
- 1:34Speaker 5: You gotta you know.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And if you keep this, if you keep this up,
- 1:38you're gonna fail the class. You'll receive a failing grade.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I'm not gonna defend myself against anything, but it's it
- 1:46is kind of empowering. That's just because build most of
- 1:53the world, they go after work, and that's after work.
- 1:56Speaker 1: We have a different schedule than most people.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Most people are off work by six.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Well, you got to go home and have supper and
- 2:04then go yeah and a half.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Doesn't the defense class have an early bird special.
- 2:10Speaker 5: But as long as you shout karate chop whenever you
- 2:14do it, that's.
- 2:18Speaker 2: To say the words was it wasn't that a toy
- 2:20that did that?
- 2:21Speaker 5: Or well there was there was Big Jim who when
- 2:25you pressed the button on his back, his arm would
- 2:27do the karate chop. Oh yeah?
- 2:28Speaker 2: And who had the kung fu grip?
- 2:30Speaker 5: That was g I Joe.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Oh Yeah yeah. Maybe'll teach you the kung fu grip.
- 2:35Speaker 1: They might.
- 2:37Speaker 5: That's the kung fu grip.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That's another visual right there.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It's a visual so they have uh self defense, but
- 2:46they have tai chi there, right.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm actually really interested in taking that.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Well, see, I didn't know that, and now that I
- 2:52know that you've told me, I'm I'm kind of curious.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And aeron the sense.
- 2:56Speaker 5: It's a sensing.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It was showing me how to play with my chi.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Like we don't know, we don't want to hear about
- 3:06that kind of thing.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's a public thing that you do and it's it
- 3:10was real. I could feel it.
- 3:13Speaker 5: I don't know what.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know if he's magical or what. But I
- 3:16played with my cheese.
- 3:17Speaker 5: So it's like Avatar the Last Airbender, you do the
- 3:20yes the hand exactly like.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So now something mystical like that happens to Gina and
- 3:27now she believes it belie happens to me. Anytime anybody
- 3:32has ever talked about something like that in the past,
- 3:34that nonsense. That's just not As a matter of fact,
- 3:37there are probably people sitting at home listening to you
- 3:39say it, saying, oh, that's nonsense.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But yeah, I would. I would encourage people to do this.
- 3:47Speaker 5: It was empowering.
- 3:48Speaker 3: What's the place called It's a United Studios of self defense.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It was on seventh, seventh East and twenty something.
- 3:56Speaker 2: So it just down past the Pep Boys. Yeah, where
- 4:00the pet Boys used to be.
- 4:02Speaker 5: It's right by the train tracks. Trader Joe, Oh, I
- 4:06know where that is.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Okay, you've you've driven by it and seen it for
- 4:10years and now you know where it is.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Oh, I'll be driving past it today I get my
- 4:15hair cut.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Well, you stop in and say, ask them if they
- 4:20can find your chie for you.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I have it. It's right here.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I dropped my chee. I can't find it.
- 4:28Speaker 5: This is this is this something that you're supposed to
- 4:31imagine is like a ball in front of you? Yes,
- 4:33that's what the check.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And that's because you've seen him at the park.
- 4:37Speaker 3: That's part of what they're doing, is they they're manipulating there.
- 4:42Speaker 2: What is the so what is the what's the benefit
- 4:45of finding your chie? You don't know.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It was soothing to me.
- 4:51Speaker 5: You just imagine that there's a ball like floating, and
- 4:55then that's how you move around. That's how.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And I told my husband yesterday because I go home
- 5:01from this show after ranting and raving on this show
- 5:04about the world, and I go and rant to him
- 5:07and I said, I need to find a place to
- 5:09put this that is.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Not you try the glove compartment.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I need to put it. Molly morm is nodding. She
- 5:16knows what she does for Zumba. That's where she puts it.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I think, right, yeah, but but I have to find
- 5:23somewhere to put it, so I need I need to
- 5:26do something that helps me deal with it, and maybe
- 5:28this will.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Be my thing.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I put mine in sake deposit box at Zion's.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Bank in case you need it later.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Oh, it's true. He's put away enough now that he
- 5:38got a bank free. You know, a little it's a
- 5:41gold eagle that he can put his pennies in.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's one of those. It's one of those
- 5:47that's got a little spring on and it'll shoot a
- 5:49penny right into the eagle's mouth.
- 5:50Speaker 5: I think I still have mine? Do you still have
- 5:53everything of yours?
- 5:54Speaker 3: No?
- 5:54Speaker 5: I don't.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I don't have you gotten rid of stuff?
- 5:57Speaker 5: Well, it's the Zions Bank just down the street here
- 5:59where I opened up my first.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Bank account when I.
- 6:02Speaker 5: Was a kid, and they because I opened up my
- 6:04first bank account, they gave me a It was a
- 6:06heavy metal gold bank of an eagle.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Perched on a rock because that says money.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Because that says money, I guess.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 5: And you put your pennies in the back of it,
- 6:16and then you'd take them to the bank and they'd
- 6:19open the thing for you and then you put your
- 6:21money in and it was the whole thing. But that
- 6:23thing you could have hurt somebody, I'm sure.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 5: It was solid. It was solid metal and point It.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Was that I forget what they call it pop metal
- 6:30or something like that, something like that.
- 6:32Speaker 5: I don't know, but it was pointy and heavy.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I forget what mine. I forget what it was exactly.
- 6:38But it had one of those things where it would
- 6:40shoot the penny into the into the bank.
- 6:43Speaker 5: I had an elephant that would do that, like the trunk,
- 6:45like a real elephant. Yeah, you'd put the you put
- 6:48the quarter or whatever in the elephant's trunk at the end,
- 6:50and then you press the button and then it would
- 6:52slam it into his back and throw it up and
- 6:54slam it into his bag. I got that at the
- 6:57at the at the dump. You got it at the dump.
- 7:01We were out throwing stuff away at the dump. But
- 7:03I was just kind of wandering around and oh, look
- 7:05at this that's a treasure and mom dad says okay, yeah,
- 7:09take it home or whatever. Mom had a fit because
- 7:13you're bringing home dump toys. And I loved that bank.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Though this is an outside bank. Now you can play
- 7:20with it outside.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Oh, I had to clean it. She goes, you clean
- 7:23that up. You can keep it. Clean it
