- 0:00How's the first week been out here?
- 0:02>> Yeah, awesome. It's it's always great to
- 0:03just get back to football and um it's
- 0:05obviously a grind. It's a new team and
- 0:07um made a lot of new relationships and I
- 0:09think everybody's out here competing. I
- 0:11just glad football's back so enjoying
- 0:13it.
- 0:14>> Goish is a guy who's been a tight end's
- 0:16coach throughout the year. He puts a lot
- 0:18of importance on that position. Can you
- 0:19kind of tell that with the the way this
- 0:21this roster got built, that room got
- 0:23built?
- 0:23>> Yeah, I would say first of all, just the
- 0:25tight end position is a gritty position.
- 0:27Um you're asked to do a lot. Um, and a
- 0:30lot of it is just effort and your
- 0:31attitude and what you put into it and
- 0:33what you put and what you get out. So,
- 0:34um, uh, he puts a lot on our plate, run
- 0:36game, pass game, uh, motion shifts, all
- 0:38that. And we got to be, uh, just locked
- 0:40and executing everything that he calls
- 0:42us to do. So, I really enjoyed him so
- 0:44far. And I love the head coach. It's
- 0:45>> a wide mix of different kind types of
- 0:48tight ends in that room. How do you feel
- 0:49like that's that group's coming
- 0:50together? Y got a bunch of different
- 0:51kinds of guys.
- 0:52>> Yeah, I feel like um, everybody's
- 0:54competing. Um, we're all loving, we're
- 0:55all getting better and encouraging one
- 0:57another. And I think that's a big thing,
- 0:58just having a tight bond with each other
- 1:00and um so yeah, I think we're getting
- 1:02better day by day and just um it's a
- 1:04slow process and you're not going to be
- 1:06great day one or bad day one. It's just
- 1:08it's a slow process and just working uh
- 1:10to become the best you can become.
- 1:13>> Jake, what brought you to Auburn and
- 1:14what do you think so far? Yeah, I think
- 1:16first of all the town is awesome and um
- 1:19uh Coach Golis, Coach Gooish just he
- 1:22called me um when I was in the portal
- 1:24and I felt like I connected with him
- 1:26well and just with his offense um they
- 1:29produce a lot and I think that's
- 1:30something I was looking forward to and
- 1:32uh what I wanted um out of my last year
- 1:34and I think just the system's been great
- 1:36and coach Gordon and um having coach
- 1:38Scott and Jack and uh as my tight ends
- 1:40coach I I I've had great relationships
- 1:42with them so just uh getting ready to go
- 1:44compete and looking forward for the rest
- 1:45of spring ball.
- 1:46>> Talk about uh you know building
- 1:48chemistry and and timing and everything
- 1:49with Byron.
- 1:50>> Yeah, I think um when I first got here,
- 1:53Byron was one of the first people I met
- 1:55him in the training room. Um but he's a
- 1:57very hard worker. He um he's in the
- 2:00facility all day from just the morning
- 2:02till night time. So I felt most respect
- 2:04for him. Um and every day whenever he
- 2:06asked me to throw, I try to just catch
- 2:07and just build that relationship um as
- 2:09strong as I can just to have a great
- 2:11relationship with him. Jake, you've been
- 2:14under some different coaches. How would
- 2:15you describe a practice under Alex
- 2:16Gooish and his group?
- 2:18>> Yeah, I think I've been fortunate um to
- 2:20be under a lot of great uh coaches and
- 2:23um I just I really do love coach Gooish
- 2:25and just his attitude and energy that he
- 2:26brings to the team and he just brings
- 2:28the best out of all the players. So, um
- 2:30there's nothing to not love about him.
- 2:31Perfect. Great answer.
- 2:32>> Appreciate it. There's some younger guys
- 2:33in the tight end room who's kind of
- 2:35stood out to you in the short amount of
- 2:37time.
- 2:38>> Yeah, I think I think really everybody
- 2:40like everybody's coming out here,
- 2:41they're competing. I wouldn't just say
- 2:43one name. I think we're all here getting
- 2:45better and really just focusing on today
- 2:47and what we can do. Um so it's not
- 2:49really just bunch of standouts. It's
- 2:51just we're doing our job and uh doing
- 2:53what we're asked to day by day. Yeah.
