- 0:00All the Billaha regime, Smillah Rahman, Rahim Abdullah,
- 0:05Abdullahi Hussain, Salah Ali, respected brothers and sisters,
- 0:10Salaam Alaikum. Firstly and foremostly, I'd like
- 0:15to begin by extending our condolences, our heartfelt
- 0:18condolences to the Imam of our time.
- 0:21Imam Sahib Alasi was Zaman Ajal Allahu Alafajah Sharif on the
- 0:27death anniversary of his grandfather, ABI Abdullah
- 0:31Hussein Salawatu Waiyu Salam Alaid, who was slain alongside
- 0:36his noble and purified family and companions on these nights
- 0:41in the year 61 after Hijra run Sisters.
- 0:45If you're new to the aftermath of the podcast, you'll quickly
- 0:47learn that this season of Muharram for Us is a flagship
- 0:52not just for the podcast, but for the wider Muslim Ummah and
- 0:56specifically for the Shia. The Shia who identify themselves
- 1:01to be those who follow the message, the learnings, the
- 1:05legacy, the teachings from Imam Hussein Ali Salaam.
- 1:09What we find in Karbala, we believe preserved and protected
- 1:13Islam from transgression, from immorality, from the peak of
- 1:18Jahiliya and ignorance, and ultimately preserved Islam to be
- 1:22what it is today. And Inshallah will allow us to
- 1:25understand its true potential and work towards creating that
- 1:30potential. Bran Sisters for five years
- 1:32after Maghrib has been able to create content for this season,
- 1:37for the Muharram season. And I'd also like to ask you at
- 1:41home, if you're new to the channel, to please subscribe and
- 1:44stay with us throughout this journey.
- 1:46These next few weeks will be a learning experience, not just to
- 1:49understand the Battle of Karbala, but to also understand
- 1:52events before, during and after the battle.
- 1:56And not just from a historical perspective, but also from a
- 1:59contemporary significance, how it affects us today, our
- 2:03communities, our Majalis, our centres and inshallah be able to
- 2:07learn as we move forward in the world around us.
- 2:11It wouldn't be a muhalaam season if I wasn't joined alongside by
- 2:15my brother, said Ali and other. We Salaam alaikum sein
- 2:28alaikum Salah alaikum Salah alaikum Salah.
- 2:31Alaikum Salah, how are you Al? Hamdallah, Hamdallah.
- 2:34We are of course down into the first week of the holy month.
- 2:40These first few days I feel are hard hitting because all of us
- 2:46recognize that we really needed to re establish our relationship
- 2:51with Imam Hussein Ali Salaam Musbah Al Huddah Wasafina
- 2:55Tanaja, our arc of salvation, our beacon of guidance who every
- 3:00year pulls us back towards the cause of our last Pantala.
- 3:04We always talk about the godliness of the Imam and the
- 3:07goodness that the Imam showed and inshallah we can move
- 3:11forward and and benefit as much as possible on these blessing
- 3:15nights. That's very well put and it's a
- 3:18reminder to myself that this is an opportunity.
- 3:21Haram is a time where we don't just go to warn about Abdullah.
- 3:24I think that's the bare minimum, but to gain lessons from him and
- 3:27inshallah try to live the way he lived and try to please the Imam
- 3:31of our time, try to please his mother.
- 3:33Fatima Zahra Alayhissala will ultimately serve about Abdullah
- 3:37Al Passain. And over the last two nights
- 3:40that we've attended Majalis, I've looked around and I've seen
- 3:43like true Muslim manin, dedicated, sincere servants who
- 3:48truly want to serve about Abdullah Al Hussein.
- 3:50And it inspires me at all today by the way, that I can see
- 3:52people, they give their wealth, they don't care about their
- 3:55health, they don't care if they're sleeping.
- 3:57They take time away from work, from the family just to serve
- 4:00about Abdullah. And all we ask is that we can
- 4:02have this blessing year in, year out.
- 4:08Every year we talk about this and then Hamdallah, I think
- 4:11every year we've also been joined by our esteemed guest,
- 4:15our esteemed scholar who's been a big part of our learning
- 4:18journey, not just on the podcast, but also for us from a
- 4:20young age as well, none other than the respected, said Matthew
- 4:24Modalis Islam. What Ali Kum said now.
- 4:26Ali Kumar Salaam or Ahmed Allah increase our rewards for the
- 4:36grief that we have and display towards the tragedy of Imam Al
- 4:41Hussein, Alayhi Saddam. And as you both said, there's no
- 4:49question that this is a blessing like no other.
- 4:53Imam al Hussein grounds us, Imam al Hussein guides us.
- 4:58Imam al Hussein inspires us. Imam Al Hussein is the reason
- 5:02why we're believers today and so it's something that we can never
- 5:10express sufficient appreciation for except to say Alhamdulillah
- 5:15Al Ladi Hadan Ali Hada praised me to Allah who guided us
- 5:22towards the doorstep of Abaq Dilahi Hussein.
- 5:26So, and it's a beautiful reminder where you just
- 5:32mentioned as well. I just I just remembered
- 5:34something saying that is that you know, no matter what we lose
- 5:38in this life and I know you recently lost your answer to my
- 5:41Allah embrace on his Rahman Sha Allah and elevator rings.
- 5:46And your. Desire is Muhammad Muhammad and
- 5:49it just it just reminds us that any this is what life is serving
- 5:53about Abdullah serving the albeit and living a true
- 5:58Husseini lifestyle. And this is something I'm sort
- 6:02of trying to understand better. And maybe there's a question I
- 6:05have for you outside after the podcast, share Allah.
- 6:09One that affects me and maybe I can use and share with the
- 6:12viewers and listeners in future conversations is that you you
- 6:17have inspired so many listeners around the world.
- 6:19And I must say something how it's as if, you know, it's
- 6:22become fruition where we have you here year in, year out and
- 6:24Muharram. And I was telling my daughter
- 6:27earlier on today that we were attending a majlis.
- 6:31We saw you there tonight. And then I told her I said, say
- 6:34Mehdi Madarasi. He's he's been integral part of
- 6:38my upbringing with the Hussein your vibes, if I can call it,
- 6:42from the Majlis, from how you carry yourself, how you deliver
- 6:47the message of Islam, how you remember the tragedies of Ethyl
- 6:50debate. And so I showed her a clip of
- 6:54after Madrid from Season 1, season 2, Season 3, and then she
- 6:57saw you in person and then you spoke with her briefly.
- 7:02And then she told me, she said Baba, she she said it reminded
- 7:07me, but she said it reminded me of my her grandfather, which is
- 7:11my late father and everything. And then she was like, did he
- 7:14speak like him? And I was like, yeah, very
- 7:16similar. So I just thought I'd share this
- 7:18now. It was a very wholesome moment.
- 7:19Plus her home protect you or I say.
- 7:22That he may love less your, your father, who was an incredible
- 7:26human being, someone I had the privilege of, of knowing many,
- 7:31many years ago, and a servant of ABBA Abdullah Hussein.
- 7:35So much so that Imam Hussein rewarded him by the fact that he
- 7:41passed away after listening to the Maktal on the day of Ashura.
- 7:46And imagine, imagine dying from, from grief for ABBA Abdullah.
- 7:53Honestly, as, as you're saying, Sayid now, if there's anything
- 7:58worth living for in this life, it's Hussein and his
- 8:02remembrance. If there's anything worth crying
- 8:05for, it is Imam al Hussein. There's anything worth dying
- 8:09for, it's Imam al Hussein, Salaam Alayhi.
- 8:11And so we can only hope that we are able to maintain this
- 8:18connection to the Imam with an ever increasing level of
- 8:25intensity and connection and gnosis such that the end happens
- 8:34in a way that's linked to Imam and Hussein Alayhi Salaam.
- 8:37I always say that I wish and I've been around people who have
- 8:42had to endure excruciating moments prior to their death.
- 8:48And there was one individual in particular, may Allah bless his
- 8:52soul, who, who left a very big impact on me in terms of just
- 8:59watching him wither away with, with a mind numbing level of
- 9:05pain. And so I remember at the time
- 9:09saying to, to my, you know, relatives and friends that you
- 9:12know what, having seen what I just saw, I wish to die on the
- 9:16way to Karbala. I I I want to receive some kind
- 9:22of divine Providence that allows me to spend the last moments of
- 9:26my life as I'm walking towards the shrine of Imam and Hussein.
- 9:30However, I lost panel to Allah chooses for that to happen, but
- 9:34I wanted to be linked with Obama Hussein.
- 9:37All the opportunity said with your permission, we'll we'll
- 9:42kick off. We we said Ali actually have to
- 9:47give him credit, thought of this topic and, and I really liked
- 9:51it. Of course, we're born and
- 9:53brought up in the community and we hear of course, Al Ziyarat,
- 9:56our idea and of course Yarata Wadeth as one of our key staples
- 10:03in Al Majalis is something we hear a lot of.
- 10:06And we always hear about this concept of wadeth al Ambiyah
- 10:09Alayhi Salam, the inheritor of the prophets of Islam.
- 10:14This is kind of, I think to understand the true Makam of the
- 10:18Imam, Ali Salam and his rank from both a worldly and
- 10:22spiritual perspective. It's something we wanted to
- 10:25delve into when we hear about the Imam being the inheritor of
- 10:29the prophets. I don't know Ibrahim Walsa Isa
- 10:35and of course, Nabi Allah Muhammad sallallahu.
- 10:38Where does this come from? And specifically speaking, is
- 10:42there perhaps a Quranic backing for it, or Quranic significance
- 10:47which indicates that inheritance can come from the prophets of
- 10:52Islam? Sullah Rahman Rahim Allah
- 10:57Muhammadi Ali Muhammadi Wajal Farajo Ziyarat Warith is a text
- 11:07that's dedicated to the visitation of Imam Hussein Ali
- 11:10Salaam, which has multiple sources.
- 11:15It has been reported by Evan Wood Way, the teacher and mentor
- 11:21of a Shekhar Muffid in his magnum opus Kamala Ziyarat.
- 11:27In fact, even in Kamala Ziyarat, there are multiple versions of
- 11:30Ziyarat. What if there's a short 1A more
- 11:33succinct version and then you have the longer version.
- 11:36It's also being reported by some of our other great scholars like
- 11:42Sheikh Pousi and others. And I'm talking about the
- 11:45earliest traces of the Ziana. So there are about 3 or 4
- 11:49different versions of it. But the bit that we're
- 11:53discussing is, is the the common denominator amongst all of these
- 11:59different devotional texts. And so in terms of authenticity,
- 12:03in terms of credibility, the Ziara is solid.
- 12:10Then you come to the very beginning of the Ziara and its
- 12:15namesake essentially is that initial segment where we address
- 12:20Imam Hussein of all of the different titles that Imam
- 12:24Hussein has. By the way, my younger brother
- 12:29Zaman Esseid Hussein with that I see has a book that's about 500
- 12:33pages. The title is Asma Ouasafat E
- 12:38Imam al Hussain Ali Hassanam. Imagine 500 pages worth of
- 12:43different names and different titles that have been used to
- 12:47refer to Imam Al Hussain in our hadith corpus.
- 12:53And I think he mentions about 370 different names.
- 12:59So of all of those different names for Ziata Taarif to begin
- 13:06by addressing Imam al Hussein as the what if the inheritor, the
- 13:10heir, That tells you something. Interestingly, I recently met a
- 13:17group of people inside the shrine in the courtyard of Imam
- 13:20al Hussein Ali Salaam, or or maybe it was the courtyard of
- 13:23Abu al Fabal Abbas, I don't remember.
- 13:27And they approached me and said Salaam.
- 13:30Then they said that we've brought our Christian friend to
- 13:33come and do Ziara. So the first thing that came to
- 13:35my mind was, you know, when we visit Imam Al Hussein, we
- 13:39address him as the successor and the heir to Jesus.
- 13:44And so there is a, a, a, a link between Imam Al Hussein and
- 13:49Prophet Isaiah Salaam that is unbreakable.
- 13:54And you, you need to learn about Imam Al Hussein in order to
- 14:00learn about ASA, because the, the image that's depicted in
- 14:04Christianity for ASA is so distorted that the only way you
- 14:09can restore it, you can fix it, is by getting to know Imam
- 14:12Hussein. And that's a much easier task
- 14:15given all the literature and all the, you know, historical record
- 14:21and accounts and whatnot, and the statements and the sayings
- 14:24and the sermons and the saga of Asura itself.
- 14:27So what we know about Imam Hussein is quite extensive
- 14:30compared to what Christians know about Jesus.
- 14:33And so many years ago, I wrote a book called the The Lost
- 14:37Testament. And the subtitle was What
- 14:40Christians Don't Know about Christ.
- 14:42Because there's a lot. And, and perhaps we'll, we'll
- 14:45touch on that later on. But the point is that we refer
- 14:48to Imam Hussein as a Salam Alaika.
- 14:52Peace be upon you. Now notice one thing or or a
- 14:59number of different points here to be made.
- 15:01Number one, in the Sierra we refer to Imam Hussein as the
- 15:05heir to the five and beyond known as Ulhasm plus.
- 15:12So 5 + 1 right? Adam being the 6th Prophet.
- 15:18Then you have the Holy Prophet, our messenger, Sallallahu alaihi
- 15:24Waleh and mural Mumminin fata Matsu Zara.
- 15:26So Imam Al Hussein is the heir not just to those six prophets,
- 15:31but also the Messenger of God, the greatest of God's creation,
- 15:36his masterpiece, plus Amural Mumminin, plus Fatima Matsu
- 15:40Zara. And that's number one, Number
- 15:44two, Another point to be made is that with every one of those
- 15:49prophets, they are given a title.
- 15:53And that title might be the most famous one, but it's one among
- 15:59many, many. And so the question is why those
- 16:02titles? Surely this factors into the
- 16:05comparison that we're trying to make.
- 16:08So it begins by saying, assalamu alaikum, you are the successor.
- 16:15Peace be upon you, O successor or heir to Adam, the chosen one,
- 16:23Right? Then we speak about Nour Nabi
- 16:25being Nabi Allah, the Prophet of God, even though they're all
- 16:28prophets of God. But why is Nour referred to as,
- 16:33you know, Nabi Allah exclusively?
- 16:36Then we get to Prophet Ibrahim and so on and so forth.
- 16:40So that's something to to, to think about in the context of
- 16:44understanding why Imam Hussein is the heir.
- 16:47As for whether there is a Quranic basis for this,
- 16:51absolutely. For instance, a Los Pano Ta'ala
- 16:54says Film a Rothnell Kitabe le Dina stafina menai badina.
- 17:00A Los Pano Ta'ala doesn't say that we reveal the book to those
- 17:05whom we have chosen among our servants.
- 17:08He says we inherited the book, which means that the inheritance
- 17:13that happens from one prophet to another is very much a possible
- 17:21and even a plausible thing that occurs in in the world of
- 17:26prophethood. In fact, we have a hadith in
- 17:30which I believe it was Imam Asad Ali Salam who says that the
- 17:35prophets of God, when Allah speaks about one prophet
- 17:40inheriting another, a loss. Not saying that they inherited
- 17:44money or property or any kind of financial estate from them,
- 17:49right? Profits would depart from this
- 17:51world having nothing. These aren't people that you
- 17:54would imagine, you know, trying to accumulate wealth in any
- 17:58shape or form, but rather what they inherited to each other is
- 18:03knowledge, right? So there is again, when you
- 18:06think of inheritance, you think either money and and property
- 18:12and so on, which is the legalistic understanding of
- 18:16inheritance. Then you have inheritance of
- 18:19virtues and morals and knowledge and you know other immaterial
- 18:24things, right? So are immaterial things like
- 18:28knowledge and so forth inherited according to the Quran?
- 18:32Absolutely. So Ziadat Wadat is very much in
- 18:36accordance with with the Quran. Interesting.
- 18:40Do you think say that you mentioned earlier about the
- 18:43specific names of the prophets? Which I mentioned and of course
- 18:48the specific titles. This is something I want to
- 18:51learn more and understand more about, specifically themes that
- 18:56we see in the. Lives of each of the holy
- 18:57prophets. So for example, Nabi adim alai
- 19:01Salaam his repentance. Nabi Noor, his perseverance.
- 19:06Or the concept of salvation. Nabi Ibrahim, the sacrifice.
- 19:12Nabi Isa again the the the sacrifice.
- 19:15And, and the concept of salvation that you see with him
- 19:19and then of course with the Holy Prophet and Nabi Musa as well,
- 19:21and the concept of standing up to tyranny and being vocal
- 19:24against oppression. And of course, the mercy in the
- 19:27rahma from Salah Muhammad sallallallahu alaihi.
- 19:31Do we see? I know that there's a we hear a
- 19:33lot about all of these characteristics being
- 19:36personified in Karbala, all of these incredible virtues from a
- 19:43personal and a spiritual perspective that the Imam had
- 19:49and these characteristics he carried with him.
- 19:51Is that just a nice symbolic thing or is there actually some
- 19:56meat on the bones? Is there any hadith which backed
- 19:59this up or anything for example? Absolutely no question.
- 20:04Before we get to the actual hadith, let's try and understand
- 20:07exactly what Imam and Hussein inherited from the previous
- 20:13messengers and apostles. The 1st and most obvious thing
- 20:19is knowledge. Yeah.
- 20:21And we have multiple hadiths. In fact, we have entire chapters
- 20:26in books like the Blessed Al Kafi and others that deal with
- 20:31this issue that the Imams of the Arabite Halihu Salaam are the
- 20:35heirs to the Holy Prophet and the Prophet had the collective
- 20:40knowledge of every single previous messenger of God.
- 20:45In fact, there's this one really interesting hadith where I
- 20:48believe it's Imam and Baker Ali Salaam who addresses somebody in
- 20:54his audience and he says to them, Tomasuna Thummad. 1 way
- 21:04it's been translated is the tiny amount of moisture that is on a
- 21:12rock that sits by the riverbank, right?
- 21:16It's got a little bit of water, a little bit of, you know, mud.
- 21:20The Imam is saying you're thirsty and in order to quench
- 21:24your thirst, you take this rock and you suck on it in order to
- 21:29absorb the moisture that sits on the surface of the rock, while
- 21:33you have an entire river raging right there in front of you.
- 21:38So the man says to the Imam, what are you referring to?
- 21:42O son of the Messenger of Allah? The Imam said to him, alas, Pano
- 21:47Ta'ala sent all the prophets, 124,000 of them.
- 21:51Of these 124,000 prophets, 313 were messengers.
- 21:57They were Rosalie. They were sent to their people.
- 22:01Of the 313, you've got 5 who are distinct, distinguished by the
- 22:07title of the ones mentioned in Zahra Twarif.
- 22:10And what sets these prophets apart is that each one of them
- 22:14had their own jurisprudence, their own Sharia, their own way.
- 22:19By the way, most people assume that what makes what Al Azim
- 22:24special is the fact that they were sent to all of mankind.
- 22:28They were sent to the entire world.
- 22:30I actually have evidence to suggest that no other prophet
- 22:35before our own messenger was sent to the entire world.
- 22:39The the first prophet to be sent to all of humanity and for all
- 22:43of you know the time that we have until the day of judgement
- 22:47is Rasul Allah Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.
- 22:50But regardless you have these prophets who stand out from all
- 22:54of the other prophets, which is why if you think about it in
- 22:57Ziad Twarath we should have mentioned 20 prophets, 30
- 23:00prophets. But the reason these prophets
- 23:03were picked was because they were the cream of the crop.
- 23:06They were above and beyond all of the other messengers and
- 23:09apostles of Allah. Span of Todd.
- 23:11So Imam al Baker says to that man, he says to him that Allah
- 23:15sent all of these prophets. Then all of their knowledge was
- 23:19collected and handed over to the Holy Messenger of Allah.
- 23:26Then that messenger, the Prophet Muhammad, gave all of his
- 23:32knowledge to Amir al Mormani and Ahmadine.
- 23:36I am the city of knowledge and Ali as its gate.
- 23:44Parenthetically, I'll mention something rather humorous.
- 23:48Even Tamia discusses this hadith in his men Hadja's Sunnah and he
- 23:52says this hadith is most definitely false.
- 23:54It's a fabrication that's been attributed and concocted and and
- 23:59attributed to Rasulullah. Why?
- 24:02Not because the chain is unsound, not because the
- 24:05transmission had any, you know, sort of disconnections or
- 24:09anything like that, he says. Because if you claim that
- 24:13Alibnet Abu Talib is the only door to the city of Knowledge,
- 24:18where does that leave all of the other companions?
- 24:21And I'm like, that's the whole point.
- 24:23The whole point is that the other companions are not
- 24:27conduits to Rasulullah. They may have heard the Prophet
- 24:31speak. They may have interacted with
- 24:34him. They were companions and
- 24:35whatnot. And depending on their level of
- 24:38reliability, then, you know, we could, we could perhaps hear
- 24:42them out. But Emiro Monin is the only
- 24:46righteous, truthful, 100% reliable conduit to Rasul Allah.
- 24:52And that's what the Prophet is trying to tell you.
- 24:54And you're like, no, this doesn't make sense because what
- 24:56about all the other companions anyway?
- 24:59So Imam Al Baker says to him, he says that Emir Al Muminen has
- 25:05all of that knowledge. The person listening says to the
- 25:09Imam, he says, so does that mean that Ali AB Nabi Talib is better
- 25:13than all of the other prophets? Or are there prophets better
- 25:16than Ali AB Nabi Talib? The Imam looks at the other
- 25:19people in his audience. He says, listen to what this man
- 25:22is saying. I'm telling him that Ali AB Nabi
- 25:25Talib is the raging river and that everybody else at most
- 25:30could have a tiny bit of moisture, right.
- 25:33And you've left this for that. And he's still asking me whether
- 25:37Ali is better than the other prophets.
- 25:39Of course he is, because he has the knowledge of the collective
- 25:44knowledge of all of the prophets that was given to Rasulullah
- 25:46sallallahu Alaihi. And so to, to go back to, to
- 25:51your question, each of these prophets had a, a, a unique set
- 25:57of characteristics that are worthy of examination and to,
- 26:03you know, to to study them. However, the Ziara picks one for
- 26:07each of the prophets for a reason.
- 26:10When the Ziara says Adama Safwat Allah, you mentioned Isa Ali
- 26:15Assalam, his perseverance, his patience, his, you know, being
- 26:19the, the, the means of salvation for his people.
- 26:22All of those things are true. He had the ability to cure the
- 26:25leper and to raise the dead and you know, all those things.
- 26:29But the ziata refers to a very specific characteristic of Aisa
- 26:33Alayhi Salaam, which is him being ruhollah.
- 26:39And so we need to find out why that is.
- 26:42Where's the connection between Aisa Ruhollah and Imam Al
- 26:47Hussein Alayhi Salaam which which obviously we can discuss?
- 26:51That's a very beautifully said and very eloquently.
- 26:54I think it answers a lot of questions I had in my mind.
- 26:58And there is a hadith I want to speak and bring up.
- 27:00Say it. And you mentioned the hadith of
- 27:02Mintemi and Hajj Sinner where he doubts Imam Ali being the gate,
- 27:07the door to the city of knowledge.
- 27:08But there is one hadith that no school of thought can deny is
- 27:12whereas Allah said Hussein and Minni and Hussein.
- 27:15Now the way we understand that is that of course biologically
- 27:20Imam Hussain as part of Rasoolallah sallallahu alaihi
- 27:23wasallam. But what does it, what does
- 27:25Rasoolallah mean when he said and Hussain is from me?
- 27:29Is there an inheritance linked to this one's Rasoolallah trying
- 27:33to say? When you said I am from Hussein,
- 27:35you mean yeah? So the part about.
- 27:37When the prophet says Prophet said I am from Hussein, Sorry,
- 27:40yeah. So look, I think we have to
- 27:42acknowledge one thing which is that a lot of these concepts,
- 27:46especially those dealing with the nature of Rasul Allah,
- 27:50essence of Imam Al Hussein and so on, I think we, we have to
- 27:55admit that we lack the capacity to understand the extent with
- 28:01which Rasul Allah is, is describing himself in Imam Al
- 28:05Hussein. So the first thing I would do is
- 28:08say, look, I don't know, I have no clue, but maybe I can try and
- 28:13scratch the surface of this. And so recently I, I wrote an
- 28:18article which I published online about the the nature of the
- 28:24imams, the essence of Rasulullah and the Arabite Ali Musalam.
- 28:28And I have this hypothesis which I sort of try to elucidate on
- 28:35and provide backing and evidence for, which I don't want to get
- 28:39into now because it could confuse people.
- 28:42But suffice to say that for me to try and completely grasp,
- 28:48excuse me, the notion of what it means for the Prophet to be from
- 28:54Imam Hussein. The reverse of that is as you
- 28:57said, you know, it's kind of easily understood by, you know,
- 29:03looking at the biological sort of connection between the
- 29:06Prophet and Imam Hussein. But the, the, the, the common
- 29:11sort of explanation that's been provided by some of our scholars
- 29:16is that Rasulullah says that I am from Hussein in that without
- 29:20Hussein and his sacrifice and his revolution and his, you
- 29:25know, whatever you want to call it with, without the actions of
- 29:28Imam Al Hussain Ali Salaam Rasool, Allah's legacy would
- 29:31have long been forgotten. And that's a fact.
- 29:35That is something that, you know, it was easily sensed at
- 29:42the time of Imam Al Hussein. There's a reason why Imam Ali
- 29:45Hussein rose up against Yazid but not Muharui as evil and
- 29:50tyrannical and vicious and two faced and hypocritical as
- 29:54Morawia was. At least he pretended to be a
- 29:58Muslim, then suddenly comes along his illegitimate child and
- 30:03says that I represent the Prophet.
- 30:06But I'm turning the tables around and I, I'll do whatever I
- 30:10want. I'll drink wine, I'll get drunk
- 30:12on the pulpit. I will play with my pet monkey.
- 30:15I will kill, I will maim. I will, you know, do whatever my
- 30:19heart desires, right? And you all have to accept that.
- 30:23You all have to submit to me. And so Imam Al Hussein rises at
- 30:27a time when the religion of Islam was on the brink of utter
- 30:33and complete annihilation. So Imam Hussein does something.
- 30:38I remember many, many years ago, I used this example in one of
- 30:41the lectures. I said, imagine there's a train
- 30:44and the train is moving at 150 K's an hour and suddenly there
- 30:50is a disconnect in the railway. There's a bridge that's been
- 30:54blown up or something, and the train is moving at that
- 30:59incredible speed. When it reaches the end of the
- 31:03line and it starts to freefall towards the valley, the
- 31:11acceleration of the train itself, then you've got the
- 31:15fall, which keeps on adding to the speed of the train.
- 31:21And the reason I use the example of a train is because it is so
- 31:26heavy and massive, and you've got all these, you know,
- 31:31different parts. And now imagine when the train
- 31:35gets to about a meters distance from the ground.
- 31:38What kind of force do you need to not only stop the train from
- 31:44impact, but also push it all the way back and put it on the
- 31:49track? The force would be phenomenal.
- 31:53It would have to be incredibly high in order for it to reverse
- 31:59the trajectory of the train. That's what Imam Al Hussein did.
- 32:03In this example. The train is Islam.
- 32:07It was on a freefall. It was moments away from impact
- 32:12and complete destruction. Then Imam Al Hussein comes, but
- 32:16the, the, the sheer amount of force required was so great
- 32:23that, and I want you to think about this, that it wasn't even
- 32:27sufficient for Imam al Hussein's blood to be shed.
- 32:31It had to be the six month old infant.
- 32:34It had to be the captivity of the women and the children.
- 32:39It had to be Al Qassim, it had to be the companions of Imam
- 32:44Hussein. So this is what Imam al Hussein
- 32:47did. And so is it then strange to say
- 32:51Rasulullah would acknowledge this and say, well, Ahmed
- 32:55Hussein. So I think, you know, that's
- 33:00that's sort of like a common way of, of describing it.
- 33:02But I think there are there are deeper, deeper layers that we
- 33:06can get into it, it it they have to do with the moment of
- 33:10creation. They have to do with this the
- 33:12world of spirits, where they have to do with the essence of
- 33:15the Prophet in Imam Al Hussain, which those things I'll be
- 33:18honest or beyond my own comprehension.
- 33:20Yeah, no, those esoterical dimensions and layers we'll
- 33:24never be able to uncover, but it.
- 33:26Even though, even though a lot of people are interested, a lot
- 33:28of people aren't content with this explanation, which should
- 33:33give us enough material to to keep us engaged intellectually
- 33:38and emotionally for centuries. But you have those people who
- 33:41are like, no, I want that. I want the special stuff.
- 33:43I want the secret things, you know what I mean?
- 33:46Which I think people should avoid.
- 33:47Yeah, yeah. No, of course, but and that
- 33:50knowing that in and of itself itself is, is special because
- 33:54you know that there is there's a special place that Imam Hussein
- 33:59holds and and the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi who
- 34:03knew of what was to happen to his grandson.
- 34:05And of course we hear about the forecasting and Salaam Alayhi
- 34:09and we knew about the interaction with Umm Salimah and
- 34:14all of these different things. These events that took place
- 34:16prior to the battle of Karbala just goes to show that the Holy
- 34:20Prophet himself knew what Makami Imam Ali Salaam would hold.
- 34:24Said. I had a specific question in
- 34:27terms of from kind of like a theological perspective.
- 34:30If you imagine that the battle of Karbala in some way, shape or
- 34:36form is the maybe the completion of the message of the prophets
- 34:42through the inheritance of these characteristics and, and the
- 34:46specific titles or Sephart or whatever we want to call them of
- 34:50the, the prophets mentioned in Ziad to Adith.
- 34:53Where does that then leave us when it comes to the concept of
- 34:56the Raja? So specifically in terms of as
- 35:00we know from our hadith and Muhammad Hussein, Aleh Salaam
- 35:03will return after Imam and Mehdi, he will be the focal
- 35:06point of the of that Raja. And of course the prophets, Aleh
- 35:10Salaam will be there as well, of which at that point we know they
- 35:13will complete their mission as well.
- 35:16How do we kind of reconcile these two notions of the
- 35:20missions of the prophets during their lifetimes, Karbala, and
- 35:24then of course, what is due to come in terms of the Raja?
- 35:27First of all, I think we need to understand the the the notion of
- 35:36inheritance, I think, is a multidimensional, multifaceted
- 35:43kind of idea. Imam Al Hussein was the heir to
- 35:49those prophets in terms of their knowledge.
- 35:53As we explained, Imam Al Hussein was also the heir to those
- 35:58prophets in terms of his personal character traits.
- 36:04In fact, to provide evidence for this point, we have many
- 36:09different narrations reported by a variety of different Sunni
- 36:13scholars in which the Prophet in one particular hadith, he would
- 36:22get up on a pedestal or a pulpit or something to make himself
- 36:28visible. And then he would ask everybody
- 36:31to lower themselves, which I found interesting.
- 36:34He would ask everyone to just, you know, that hang their head
- 36:37down or something. Then he would say to them men,
- 36:41Arad and Yanvora, Ella Adamafeel.
- 36:46What ella no hen fee alme? What Ella Ibrahim?
- 36:56So the Prophet was would mention these prophets and say that
- 37:00whoever wants to look at them and see them with these
- 37:05particular character traits, as I said, look it up.
- 37:12Multiple Sunni sources have reported this.
- 37:16So what that means is Imam Al Hussein inherited not just their
- 37:20knowledge, but also the one character trait that they were
- 37:25known for, the thing that made them shine, the thing that made
- 37:28them unique and special, right? So for instance, in this hadith,
- 37:36the the Prophet says what Elam Musafi, but she right?
- 37:41So for example, Adam's knowledge is unique.
- 37:47The Quran speaks about that. And even though some people
- 37:54might assume that Allah taught Adam the names of objects, this
- 37:59does not make any sense because it doesn't make him any special.
- 38:03It doesn't make him superior to the angels.
- 38:05What Allah was trying to illustrate to the angels that
- 38:07hey, this is something worthy of you prostrating before.
- 38:13And so Asma here is something much deeper than just, you know,
- 38:20names and, and adjectives and and verbs and whatnot.
- 38:24He's not just teaching him the language, he's giving him the
- 38:28the keys to the world of the unseen, right names with which
- 38:34perhaps a lost pan of Ta'ala would create things.
- 38:38Right? Allah is teaching Adam some
- 38:41truly special knowledge. So the Prophet would say whoever
- 38:47wants to see Adam in his manifested in his knowledge
- 38:52should take a look at Ali ABBA Ali Ali Salaam for instance, in
- 38:57his Ibadah. Ali Salaam was known for his
- 39:03worship. Interestingly, this is a a a
- 39:06debate that's raged over the centuries over Isa and his
- 39:12divinity which conflicts and contradicts the idea that he
- 39:15would worship God. And even the Bible says that Isa
- 39:18used to worship God and beautifully Imam Ali Salam in
- 39:22his debate with the Jathiliq, who was the the the most senior
- 39:27Christian scholar of his day, the Imam speaks about Prophet,
- 39:32ASA speaks about the Injeel, you know, the Bible and whatnot.
- 39:37A really, really interesting exchange happens.
- 39:40And Imam Al Bhavan says to him, you know what, we really love
- 39:44ASA Al Salam just like you do. But we do have one major
- 39:48criticism, which is that he was Khalil Al Haibad.
- 39:52He didn't worship sufficiently. So the the Christian man is
- 39:57enraged and he says to him, what are you talking about?
- 39:59Aisha used to worship God all the time.
- 40:03So then the Imam says to him, well who did he worship if he
- 40:06was a God, if he was a member of the triune divine entity and who
- 40:13did he worship? You only worship if you're a
- 40:16slave and a creation and you worship your creator.
- 40:20So it's it's interesting that the Prophet mentions Aisha and
- 40:24his Abad. And says you want to see what he
- 40:26says Ibadah was like. And so when it comes to these
- 40:31characteristics that are mentioned, specifically cited in
- 40:36Ziara Tuarev. Let's take a look.
- 40:38Look at them very quickly, if we, if I shall #1 Adam Salaam
- 40:45Alayka saffa means to be picked right, to be selected from among
- 40:53a group. Now, some have said that perhaps
- 40:57this is a reference to the, the the pre sort of human creatures
- 41:05that existed prior to Adam Ali Salaam, what some hadith
- 41:11referred to as Nasnas, right. And we, we have no qualms or
- 41:16anything against saying, saying that there was something prior
- 41:20to Adam. They just weren't humans.
- 41:22The first human in our sort of common modern understanding of
- 41:27what a human is. If you like to use the word homo
- 41:32sapien, perhaps. I don't know or care, but Adam
- 41:36was selected. Either that or Allah selected
- 41:41him in terms of being the first sentient creation of Allah.
- 41:49So he was selected of all the potential other, you know,
- 41:54individuals that have that could have been selected.
- 41:56Allah selected him. Imam Al Hussein is the heir to
- 42:00the one who was selected. Imam Al Hussein was selected in
- 42:05the sense that the greatest act of sacrifice, the greatest and
- 42:10most, you know, powerful primordial battle between good
- 42:14and evil in all of human history was that of Ashura.
- 42:19And a lost panel to Allah selected him for that.
- 42:22Not Imam al Hassan, not Emir al Munini, not Imam Zel Abadi, not
- 42:26Imam al Bahar, but Imam al Hussein, right?
- 42:29So he was preselected, he was preordained, he was chosen by a
- 42:33lost panel to Allah for this one critical role that only one
- 42:37person could have fulfilled, and it had to be Imam al Hussein.
- 42:41So that is starting to make sense, the link between him and
- 42:44Prophet Adam Ali. Then we get to know as Salaam
- 42:48Allah, what is Nourhan Nabi Allah.
- 42:54Why is Nour referred to as Nabi? Because who else spent 950 years
- 43:00being a Nabi doing what a Nabi does?
- 43:04And I think one of the great things about the Art Wire is
- 43:07that it's an invitation to learn about these prophets.
- 43:11To really recognize Imam Al Hussein, you have to, you have
- 43:14to go back in history and find out what these prophets did
- 43:17before you can appreciate what Imam Al Hussein did.
- 43:21Prophet Noor would go to somebody's house.
- 43:24The Quran even speaks about this, that he used to preach
- 43:27Serlan Wajahar. He used to preach in secret, he
- 43:31used to preach in public. He used to go to individuals.
- 43:33He would deliver public servants.
- 43:35He would go to somebody's house. He would sit down with him all
- 43:38night long preaching, guiding, addressing misconceptions and
- 43:41whatnot. They would believe, only to then
- 43:44go back in the morning and say, you know what?
- 43:46That doesn't make sense for US. 950 years of exerting every
- 43:52effort, sparing nothing, leaving no stone unturned, trying to
- 43:58guide them out of a desire for them not to go to hell and to
- 44:02end up in paradise. Imam Al Hussein did.
- 44:04Exactly. If you think about just what
- 44:07Imam Al Hussein had to go through, just just take this one
- 44:11thing. Imam Al Hussein asked the enemy
- 44:14to spare him that one night until the next morning, right?
- 44:20And I, I've talked about this many times, perhaps on this
- 44:22podcast as well. Imam Al Hussein had every reason
- 44:26for the war to begin at night. The weather was much better.
- 44:30It was easier to hide and to protect yourself.
- 44:35You know, there were less enemy combatants that had that had
- 44:39joined the ranks of Omar al-Assad, right?
- 44:43There were multiple reasons why Imam Al Hussein.
- 44:46They had more water, perhaps more food.
- 44:49They weren't as tired. They weren't as hungry.
- 44:51They weren't under the scorching heat of the sun.
- 44:53What does Imam Al Hussein say? Spare the night, he says to
- 44:57them, because I want to pray. I love Salat and I love dua.
- 45:01And that's absolutely true. But perhaps one of the other
- 45:04reasons was that Imam Al Hussein was trying to be as visible as
- 45:09possible, as laudable as possible, so that the next day
- 45:13Mohammed Hussein could perhaps invite more souls into his camp.
- 45:17Maybe it could guide a few more people, Right.
- 45:20The length to which Obama Hussein went in order to guide
- 45:23people that is so powerful, so exemplary that you could
- 45:28connected directly back to Noah. Noah spent 950 years doing this,
- 45:33enduring humiliation, attacks, character assassinations, all
- 45:38those things. But Imam Hussein went through
- 45:40all of that and then some within a matter of just one day.
- 45:45What he went through is indescribable.
- 45:47It's incomparable. And again, you could take every
- 45:50other profit with that specific character trait that I, that I
- 45:55mentioned, and it starts to make sense.
- 45:58To go back to something I was saying earlier, if I may.
- 46:00And I know you have a lot, a lot more questions to ask, but I
- 46:03think this is critical. So we said that inheritance
- 46:06comes in the form of knowledge. It comes in the form of
- 46:08character traits. It comes in the form of relics
- 46:12of previous prophets and messengers, including their
- 46:15scriptures. Now, why is this important?
- 46:19Because most Muslims assume that the Christian Bible is the
- 46:25originally revealed book of Allah.
- 46:29Span out Allah to his prophet Isaiah Salaam with some
- 46:33tampering here and there. The reality however, is that as
- 46:39as far as I can tell, the existing Bible has no semblance,
- 46:45no connection, no similarity to the Bible that was revealed to
- 46:50Isaiah. So it's a whole complete
- 46:53different book. Yeah.
- 46:55The majority of it are letters and a peaceful, as they call
- 46:59them, of Paul. They call them Paul the Apostle
- 47:04and Paul the imposter, but they call them the apostle.
- 47:09And that's the majority of the Bible.
- 47:11So about 60%. Then you've got the other 40%.
- 47:15The Gospels make up a big proportion of that.
- 47:19And the Gospels are really written by individuals who are
- 47:22students of Paul and influenced by him and his worldview and his
- 47:27theology. And they're just a bunch of
- 47:29stories, contradictory. So many inconsistencies, so many
- 47:35problems. One story is here, but it's
- 47:37missing from there. One major detail is here, but
- 47:41you don't find it elsewhere. And it changes the whole
- 47:43narrative. So where is the Bible?
- 47:47And we have many traditions that the scriptures of previous
- 47:51messengers and their relics. So the tablets of Musa, the
- 47:55Cain, the staff of Musa, the the Bible of ASA, all of these and
- 48:02sometimes personal artifacts from previous prophets, the ring
- 48:05of Suleiman, the taboot of Beni Israel, all of these things were
- 48:12handed down from 1 righteous divinely appointed prophet and
- 48:17messenger to to the next. And until it came down to Imam
- 48:22Al Hussein al Salam. Now there's one hadith where
- 48:25somebody asks Imam al Baker, I believe Salam, and he says to
- 48:29them, well, what happened to those relics?
- 48:32And he says that when they reached Imam al Hussein and Imam
- 48:35al Hussein was about to leave for Karbala, he entrusted them
- 48:39with who Om om Salam. So they were all given Salam
- 48:44Allah Alam Salam. They were handed over to Om
- 48:48Salamat to look after while Imam Hussein went because they were
- 48:52afraid that they would be looted, they would be stolen.
- 48:56Imagine like these are these are the divine relics of messengers.
- 49:01Civilized. Right with one tiny thing that
- 49:04belonged to any of these prophets, like in the hadith of
- 49:06Imam Al Abedin and the young man.
- 49:08I don't know if you've heard it, I won't mention it where he he
- 49:12would simply reveal a portion of the bone of a prophet.
- 49:17I believe it was Prophet Yusuf Ali Asalam.
- 49:19And this the, the, the sky would start pouring down rains in a
- 49:25season of drought, right? So these are things that could
- 49:28do miraculous things. So the Imam says to him that
- 49:31they were entrusted to Omsalem. Omsalem, then when Imam al
- 49:34Abidine went back to my father, he says when he went back to
- 49:38Medina, she handed them over to my father and then my father
- 49:42handed them over to me. So that's another thing that
- 49:45Imam al Hussein inherits from them.
- 49:47As far as the Scriptures are concerned, knowing that the
- 49:51Bible that the, the genuine Psalms of David, the Torah of
- 49:56Musa Ali Salam, these books were in the possession of Imam Ali
- 50:00Hussein and Imam Hussein was the protector of these relics and
- 50:05these scriptures. You know, I, I, I've been
- 50:08preparing for a course on Christianity and so upon law,
- 50:13the things you see, they're, they're heart wrenching.
- 50:19The, for example, the, the role that Paul played in the
- 50:25distortion of the, of the Christian religion.
- 50:29And you know how he had people who were opposed to him, right?
- 50:34They, they talk about James. They say James the brother of
- 50:37Jesus, Right. And this was something really
- 50:41interesting which I, I don't want to get into, but who
- 50:43exactly is James? We know according to our hadith,
- 50:46that the successor of Jesus was Simon.
- 50:49Yeah, right. The they call him the the
- 50:53apostle Peter, right? So, so, so Peter the apostle or
- 50:59Simon was the successor of So who's James?
- 51:04And why is it that now Christians are saying that you
- 51:07have the Jamesian Christianity and you have the Pauline
- 51:10Christianity? Well, who was James and why was
- 51:13Paul so opposed to him? Why is it that Paul writes to
- 51:17the, I believe the Corinthians or the Galatians?
- 51:20And he says to them, don't take the Bible from James and, and,
- 51:25and he even calls the people that James had sent, He says,
- 51:28don't take your, your, the, the Gospels from those dogs.
- 51:33Imagine Paul, this imposter, this false prophet attacks
- 51:38James. And I was like, who is James?
- 51:40Do we have any reference to James in our own scriptures?
- 51:44And sure enough, I found a reference where the Imam says
- 51:47that this isn't Qamaruddin or Qamaruddin.
- 51:51He says that James, who in in Hebrew is Yaakov, which means in
- 51:58Arabic it's Yaqoob. Well, who was Yaqoob?
- 52:01Among the disciples of Jesus? We have, I think two or three
- 52:04people called Yaqoob. They call him James.
- 52:06The just right in our scriptures, in our hadith
- 52:09corpus, we call him James, the son of Simon, right?
- 52:14Yacobub Nishamon, which means that Simon was the successor of
- 52:19ASA. Then you have James and James
- 52:22became the head of the church in Jerusalem and he was the force
- 52:26behind trying to discredit Paul and saying that he doesn't
- 52:30represent us. And then there were splinter
- 52:32groups that were created. One is called the Ibianites and
- 52:36the other is called the Nazareans.
- 52:38And these people were, were were very much opposed to the idea
- 52:42that Jesus is divine. Jesus was the son of God.
- 52:44They were Unitarian Christians. So my point in all of this, and
- 52:48it's a whole lengthy discussion, is that Imam Hussein inherited
- 52:52these scriptures from those prophets, the truth and, and
- 52:57protected the the truth from being distorted, from being
- 53:00completely erased. Imam Hussein had them.
- 53:03But to your point, and I'll conclude with this, really, if
- 53:07Imam Al Hussein had none of those things, the fact that he
- 53:11made that stand stands on the day of Ayushura, resurrected all
- 53:16of these prophets. He saved their legacy from being
- 53:21completely crushed and dismantled and destroyed.
- 53:26It was Imam Al Hussein praying on the dead corpse of his six
- 53:30month old infant and saying Allah Akbar with which he
- 53:35resurrected Adam and, and you know, Noor and Ibrahim and
- 53:41Moussa and Aissa, because we know that all of these prophets,
- 53:46there's a chain of succession. There's a thread that connects
- 53:50every single one of them all the way down to our holy Messenger
- 53:55and Imam Hussein. By preserving the unicity of
- 53:59Allah, Spano to Allah, servitude of Allah, Spano to Allah, the
- 54:03religion of Allah, Spano to Allah.
- 54:05He protected and saved and resurrected all of those
- 54:08prophets, which is why they're all indebted to him.
- 54:13If Rasul Allah says what Anaman was saying, imagine all of the
- 54:17other prophets, which explains why every Thursday night every
- 54:21single one of those prophets visits the shrine.
- 54:24Everyone was saying to say think.
- 54:27Sallallahu alaikum truly, honestly, Ali it's it's it's
- 54:32mesmerizing to think about all the links of about Abdullah
- 54:35Hussain to these to these prophets.
- 54:37And you know, it reminds me of where we say Salaam alaikum.
- 54:42We are beta Nabua and they are they are not just the household
- 54:47of us all Allah, the other household of all Prophet
- 54:49Prophet. Think about that.
- 54:52The link of the aliabet, Ali Wasallam, Asabel Kisar and the
- 54:56entire prophethood only for people to stand against them and
- 54:59to fire arrows against their camp and to kill family members
- 55:03of Roswell. That makes you think like what
- 55:05kind of individuals were they and how bloodthirsty, how evil,
- 55:10tyrannical. There's so much was only used
- 55:14like it's not suitable for this podcast at the moment, but there
- 55:17is something I think I want to end with on say it's.
- 55:19Not just that, if I may add one more point.
- 55:22Imam Hussein, being the heir to all of these prophets, tells you
- 55:27that when they, when they surrounded him and they
- 55:33prevented him from leaving the cut off water supply, when they
- 55:39attacked him, when they injured him, when they wounded him and
- 55:43eventually killed him, they were killing the one remnant of all
- 55:50of these prophets. So that the one individual who
- 55:54represented every single one of those messengers on the plains
- 55:58of Karbala, they were killing him.
- 56:00Which to your point tells you just what kind of savage,
- 56:06brutal, merciless monsters who were if, if God could manifest
- 56:15in physical reality to them, they would try and kill him,
- 56:18right? Not that that would ever happen.
- 56:20My point is that they they had they had the audacity to kill
- 56:26not just Imam Al Hussein. Which is why Imam Al Hussein
- 56:29told them multiple times that if you look around the earth trying
- 56:34to search for someone who is the son of the daughter of the last
- 56:38mess, any messenger in fact, you would find no one else but me.
- 56:43And the fact that you're killing me, the Imam says, means that
- 56:46after me you will kill anybody. Because killing me is the thing
- 56:51that will anger God the most. Nothing you will do after this
- 56:56will be as bad as this. But did they?
- 56:58I mean again, I don't want to start a new podcast, but didn't
- 57:01they, they knew this like Walid in Akbar in Mecca mentioned this
- 57:07himself and when Marwan was advising him and Marwan said
- 57:11kill him now, now's your chance. Walid said I can't kill him now.
- 57:15What will I say in the Achara to kill the grandson of the Holy
- 57:19Prophet Walid himself, you know, the nephew of Ali, Ali, the
- 57:24cousin of Yazid to for him to say it just shows.
- 57:28And then of course, for them to pray behind the Imam.
- 57:31When Hod, of course, was leading the army against the Imam, there
- 57:35was a recognition of his status, surely.
- 57:38And you know the Imam on multiple occasions alluded to
- 57:42not just his societal status nor his status as the one who was
- 57:48rightfully the Caliph. Of course, as we know when we
- 57:51look at the sole of Imam Al Hassan Aleh Salaam and he said
- 57:55if I was to die first should go to my brother Hussein.
- 57:58If Mahari was to die first, it would return to me.
- 58:00Even from the creedal perspective of the non Shia,
- 58:04they believe that OK, if the Imam was not divinely appointed
- 58:09and should not be the caliph from a divine perspective, at
- 58:11least from a constitutional perspective or a contractual
- 58:14perspective is due to be the caliph of the time for then them
- 58:18still to, you know, pursue the Imam in the way they did.
- 58:24It just blows my mind. And this is something for me on
- 58:27a personal level, these first two or three nights of the holy
- 58:30month that I'm trying to wrap my head around.
- 58:34How can someone so purified, so holy, who's received so much
- 58:43love and adornment of praise through the Quran and the hadith
- 58:48or Sunnah of Rasoolallah Muhammad Salallahu Alayhi, still
- 58:53at that point be given the treatment that he and his family
- 58:57and his companions were given not just before or during, but
- 59:00even after the battle of Karbala.
- 59:03Said a final point, because I appreciate it's late and we've
- 59:06taken a lot of your time. Said What would your advice be
- 59:12to young believers around the world who are listening to this
- 59:16podcast and who have made it this far in and want to make the
- 59:21most, especially of the coming week?
- 59:23You know we have a week left until the day of Oshawa.
- 59:27You know, this is one of those, one of those seasons where no
- 59:31matter what you do, there's, there's room to do more, but
- 59:39everything that you do is amplified and blessed and
- 59:43multiplied. So if all you do in these ten
- 59:47nights is attend the majlis and do Aza, then kudos to you.
- 59:54May Allah bless you, right? You've you've entered the tent
- 59:58of Imam Hussein and that's wonderful.
- 1:00:00But it would be a shame if all we did was attend the Majlis,
- 1:00:05right? You, you want to capitalize on
- 1:00:08this. It's like, it's like seeing
- 1:00:11them. Stock market rallying, right,
- 1:00:15because of a, you know, a deal that was struck between two
- 1:00:19warring factions and you see prices going up all the stocks,
- 1:00:23oil, commodities, you know, cryptos and what not.
- 1:00:27If you, if you only buy one thing, then fine, you'll make a
- 1:00:31profit. But what do you want to do is
- 1:00:33really invest all in, go all in, right?
- 1:00:36Maximize the benefit. So what I would say is the bare
- 1:00:40minimum is to attend a good beneficial Hosseini centric
- 1:00:48matchless and to do Aza and to offer your condolences through
- 1:00:53your actions to the prophet, to the Imam of the time.
- 1:00:57And and that would be the bare minimum.
- 1:00:59That's what's really that's the glue that's kept the entire Shia
- 1:01:03community alive for the last 14 centuries and saved us from
- 1:01:07extinction. But you should do more.
- 1:01:10And I know that your listeners are the type of people who want
- 1:01:13to do more, right? Al Hamdulillah, hence listening
- 1:01:17to to this podcast. The other thing I would
- 1:01:20recommend is recite Ziadat Aishwara if you don't already do
- 1:01:23this on a daily basis. I've met so many people who do
- 1:01:25it. I'm usually surprised when they
- 1:01:27say that we recite Ziadat Aishwara every single day, often
- 1:01:30times with 100 Lana and 100 Salam.
- 1:01:33So the way it's been prescribed, it's it's absolutely wonderful
- 1:01:36and beautiful. And if you don't usually do
- 1:01:38this, then now is the time, even if you, if your intention is to
- 1:01:43do it until urbane. So do it for 40 days, right?
- 1:01:45You can stop afterwards if you want, or you could maybe do away
- 1:01:49with 100 Lana and 100 Salaam. The whole thing takes about an
- 1:01:52hour and 10 minutes anyway. You could do it while driving,
- 1:01:54could do it well, just sitting down and and resting.
- 1:02:00So Ziata Ashura to really think about the contents of this.
- 1:02:04Ziata, I, I applaud you for picking this topic.
- 1:02:08It's not the most controversial topic.
- 1:02:10It's not the most interesting in, in people's imagination.
- 1:02:15I'm sure if if you gave people something, you know, a little
- 1:02:18more controversial, they, they would jump at the opportunity to
- 1:02:23listen. But you picked a topic that is
- 1:02:25truly meaningful. And I think what's beautiful
- 1:02:27about it is that. We wanted to achieve.
- 1:02:31It increases our knowledge of Imam Al Hussein.
- 1:02:34It connects us to Imam Al Hussein.
- 1:02:36I often see, and I don't want to go on a tangent here, but I
- 1:02:40often see that some lectures during Muharram really have
- 1:02:44nothing to do with Imam Hussein. They might be relevant, they
- 1:02:48might be interesting, they might actually be beneficial.
- 1:02:51But are we really going to use the 10 days of Muharram to talk
- 1:02:53about something? Recycling.
- 1:02:56Recycling or you know whatever. So crypto investing, you know,
- 1:03:01these things have their have their time and they have their
- 1:03:04place. But not in Muharram.
- 1:03:06In Muharram, get to know Imam Hussein, connect with him and so
- 1:03:111 great way to do that is to read a a different ziara every
- 1:03:15day or every three days, or dedicate the Fridays for example
- 1:03:20to read a different ziara Muhammad Hussein.
- 1:03:22In Mafatihal Janani you've got about 7 different ziara.
- 1:03:25Read a different one. Read the translation if you
- 1:03:27don't understand the Arabic and try and really think about what
- 1:03:31you're reading. The Imams used it, especially
- 1:03:35imams in Aberdeen and the later imams, they use the Ziara to
- 1:03:39increase our knowledge of God and to heed and Nabuwa and Imam
- 1:03:45and Adlam Mahad. So to to really spend time and
- 1:03:49contemplate these, these yarat I think would be critical.
- 1:03:55Other than that, just try to to behave in a manner that would be
- 1:04:01more pleasing to Imam Al Hussein Alayhi Salaam or relationship,
- 1:04:05marital relationships have ups and downs, for instance.
- 1:04:09And you know, at least for the for the 40 days from the
- 1:04:13beginning of Muharram to until out of Bahrain, let's try and
- 1:04:16put all the problems on pause. Let's try and, you know, live
- 1:04:19more amicably in a manner that will please Imam and Zaman.
- 1:04:23So just really think of Ashura and Muharram and Safar more like
- 1:04:28the month of Ramadan, right Where where we, we, we kind of
- 1:04:32take a step backwards and say, let's just do things a little
- 1:04:36differently. Let's try and please the the
- 1:04:39Imam of the time. So that's what I would say that.
- 1:04:41Sounds so beautiful. Reading a muktel?
- 1:04:43Somebody actually once said to me that I'm interested in
- 1:04:46reading muktel. So I gave him a list of muktel
- 1:04:50meaning the passion narrative of Imam Al Hussein al Sanam and
- 1:04:53about a year later he saw me and he said I've read 4 different
- 1:04:56muktel so far. And Subhan Allah, his his
- 1:04:59knowledge and his comprehension of the events of Ashura and even
- 1:05:05his gnosis of Imam Hussein Ali Salaam had exponentially been
- 1:05:11increased. So maybe pick up a maktil, pick
- 1:05:15up Allah Hoof by Esseid von Paus.
- 1:05:17Pick up for instance the maktil of Sheikh Abbas al Qami.
- 1:05:21I wrote a maktil which is granted quite short and
- 1:05:26succinct, but my point is read any muktel to give you an
- 1:05:31overall view of what happens. Said last year on the day of
- 1:05:34Ashura, I was at home and I woke up super early by myself and I
- 1:05:41was, I was sitting like away from the kids and everything.
- 1:05:46And I found a recitation that you did a muktel maybe 10-15
- 1:05:52years ago somewhere on YouTube, and I did the whole hour and a
- 1:05:56half and I cried my eyes out to the sound of your voice and the
- 1:06:00narrations that you read. And I still remember and of
- 1:06:03course, the profound effect that your transmission of the moqtal
- 1:06:07had on me. May Allah bless you and give you
- 1:06:09more Balaka and Tofiq and allow you the opportunity to continue
- 1:06:13decades of service for Mohammed Hussein ABI Abdullah Hussein Ali
- 1:06:19Salaam and your progeny, your lineage and Shah Alam.
- 1:06:22They all continue to be able to serve as your own ancestors did
- 1:06:28and your grandfather Imam Hussein Al Islam.
- 1:06:30Always be proud of you Inshallah and allow us to go closer to him
- 1:06:34and to represent his cause faithfully in Charlotte and.
- 1:06:37Both of you and all of our listeners as well.
- 1:06:39Thank you so much. Thank you for being.
- 1:06:41Here as always, thank you. It was a pleasure, as always.
- 1:06:44Thank you. And Brunsisters at home again,
- 1:06:47thank you for tuning into Aftermarket.
- 1:06:48It's been an incredible discussion.
- 1:06:51We're very grateful to say Mehdi for for being here.
- 1:06:54I encourage you all to tune into his lectures.
- 1:06:56They will be live and they have been live on the Harakal
- 1:06:59Hosseinia YouTube channel and the team.
- 1:07:03They are doing incredible work as well.
- 1:07:05Say any thoughts? Closing remarks.
- 1:07:08Said everything and I echo everything Ahmed mentioned here
- 1:07:10and inshallah you take the gems and the advice and the wisdom
- 1:07:13that was shared on this episode and share it with your friends,
- 1:07:16with your family so that they can benefit as well.
- 1:07:19Inshallah we'll see you again inshallah, same time next week.
- 1:07:23Labeke Hussain. What's Salaam alaikum?
