- 0:00Speaker 1: Man, Hello, Nick, how are we doing? We are, well,
- 0:04Speaker 1: where are you going to be in the draft? Hunker
- 0:05Speaker 1: down and draft headquarters.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Down in my layer. Yeah, we got Somebody asked me
- 0:10Speaker 2: earlier today, I was like, going to Pittsburgh. I'm like, now,
- 0:11Speaker 2: I got too much work to do.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Right, too much to do? People ask me all the time,
- 0:16Speaker 1: do you go to the draft? So you're in Pittsburgh. No,
- 0:18Speaker 1: there's nothing really in Pittsburgh.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I'll tell you the one year it was here in Detroit,
- 0:22Speaker 2: it was like I went, I had to go down
- 0:24Speaker 2: there for stuff like at the start three days, but
- 0:26Speaker 2: I had to like haul you know what to get
- 0:28Speaker 2: back to my house. You know. It was like I
- 0:30Speaker 2: had to work, you know. So it was like it
- 0:31Speaker 2: was not fun. I will say that everybody else that's fun,
- 0:33Speaker 2: which I was bad for. But I'm glad it's not here.
- 0:37Speaker 1: So you're in the trail. Let's start with the Lions.
- 0:39Speaker 1: There's a lot of talk that the Lions at seventeen
- 0:41Speaker 1: are going to move up because they need offensive tackle,
- 0:44Speaker 1: in particular after Decker is gone. I know, Frank grag
- 0:47Speaker 1: Noow is no longer there, so there's an interior offensive
- 0:50Speaker 1: line need as well. This is such a deep draft
- 0:52Speaker 1: with tackles. Do you see the Lions just waiting to
- 0:56Speaker 1: see which the top tackles comes down to them at seventeen?
- 0:59Speaker 1: And who do you where do you think they're going
- 1:01Speaker 1: to go?
- 1:02Speaker 2: So I think one or two things is going to
- 1:03Speaker 2: happen here. Either they have been playing really poor poker
- 1:09Speaker 2: or they're lying to some of these insiders about wanting
- 1:13Speaker 2: to move up, because I mean the other the other
- 1:15Speaker 2: thing this is that they have never like that they've
- 1:17Speaker 2: been linked to Caden Proctor obviously for you know, for
- 1:21Speaker 2: a couple of months or weeks now, I should say,
- 1:23Speaker 2: they've never under the Brad Holmes regime ever had a
- 1:25Speaker 2: pick leak out ever ever, So that that's number one
- 1:28Speaker 2: to me. Number two is there's several offensive linemen here,
- 1:31Speaker 2: not just one. There's also a couple edges I think
- 1:34Speaker 2: that they might like, and maybe even a safety that
- 1:36Speaker 2: they might like. So I really wonder if they don't
- 1:40Speaker 2: just sit and wait and hope that somebody else moves
- 1:43Speaker 2: up and pushes people down. I'm not sure, but we'll
- 1:47Speaker 2: see what happens. If they might be aggressive though, and
- 1:49Speaker 2: if you know, the King Roctor noise is real, and
- 1:51Speaker 2: they were playing bad poker and they want to go
- 1:53Speaker 2: up and get him. I could definitely see that. Although
- 1:55Speaker 2: if they do take Proctor, I think he's a guard
- 1:57Speaker 2: with the Lions at least early on.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Is it pretty much of FATA company. They're going to
- 2:02Speaker 1: go offensive line with Decker and with Ragnow and the
- 2:05Speaker 1: departures or what. Could you see him doing something else
- 2:08Speaker 1: as surprise, Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I could see him doing something else. It wouldn't shock
- 2:11Speaker 2: anybody locally here. I think. I think it makes the
- 2:14Speaker 2: most sense, you know, but that they go offensive line,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and I think that that's probably what's going to happen,
- 2:18Speaker 2: just because there's so many of them this year. You know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: there's another one that nobody talks about with the Lions,
- 2:24Speaker 2: Venga yu Wanta. If they want to move up, I
- 2:26Speaker 2: could see him moving up and taking him too. You know.
- 2:28Speaker 2: That wouldn't surprise me either, the guard from Penn State, right, So,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you know, I could definitely think that they're in the
- 2:34Speaker 2: market for one. There's too many of them for one
- 2:37Speaker 2: of them not to be kind of the top guy
- 2:39Speaker 2: on their board somewhere, you know, in the middle of
- 2:41Speaker 2: the first round. So it makes the most sense that
- 2:43Speaker 2: that's what's going to happen, and I wouldn't be surprised
- 2:45Speaker 2: because it's Pratt Holmes. He said, weird stuff sometimes, but
- 2:47Speaker 2: I got to think that's probably what they're hoping for anyway.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Nick bomb gun Er, the athletic Detroit based. It is Detroit, right,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I guess right outside Detroit joining us on the Beacon
- 2:56Speaker 1: Plumbing hotline. I've got family in Farmington Hills, and I
- 3:00Speaker 1: get back there quite a bit. My mother's living there
- 3:02Speaker 1: right now. I'm gonna ask you about staying on the
- 3:05Speaker 1: Michigan theme. I'm gonna ask you about Mike McDonald's first
- 3:09Speaker 1: big recruit the only year he was in Michigan on
- 3:11Speaker 1: Jim Harbaugh's staff, Jimmy Rolder, you're laughing because you probably
- 3:15Speaker 1: knew I was coming here, the inside linebacker. He was
- 3:20Speaker 1: really only a one year starter for the Wolverings, even though,
- 3:23Speaker 1: am I right? Yes? And even though but yeah, is
- 3:28Speaker 1: first of all, I think he's a Day three pick.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Is he an undrafted rookie free agent pick? And would
- 3:34Speaker 1: it surprised you for his old Michigan coach who got him,
- 3:37Speaker 1: Dan Arbor, to bring him to Seattle.
- 3:40Speaker 2: No, that would not surprise me at all, you know,
- 3:42Speaker 2: like you said, I mean, he was the Mike McDonald
- 3:45Speaker 2: was here for. He had like the most impactful, like
- 3:48Speaker 2: ten months in the history.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Of Michigan football.
- 3:50Speaker 2: The whole program Mintor basically copied him for the next
- 3:53Speaker 2: two years and they won that title. But anyway, they rolleder.
- 3:57Speaker 2: He got behind some guys on the depth chart that
- 3:59Speaker 2: were pretty athlete and then came in this past year
- 4:02Speaker 2: and I think was really really he impressed a lot
- 4:04Speaker 2: of people with how athletic he was, you know, and
- 4:07Speaker 2: how smart he was inside in terms of diagnosing things.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I've heard a few people, you know, I think he's
- 4:12Speaker 2: definitely drafted. I think he's a Day three guy probably,
- 4:16Speaker 2: but I wouldn't totally shock me if he's higher on
- 4:19Speaker 2: Day three or maybe even on the fringe there, because
- 4:22Speaker 2: he is a guy I think a lot of people
- 4:23Speaker 2: did were pleasantly surprised by. And the tricky thing is
- 4:26Speaker 2: this linebacker class is so deep. A lot of it's
- 4:28Speaker 2: just going to be on preference. So when we get
- 4:30Speaker 2: into day three, I mean, it could shuffle all over
- 4:32Speaker 2: the place, but there's going to It's just like the
- 4:35Speaker 2: linebackers and tight ends this year, kind of the opposites
- 4:37Speaker 2: of each other they're very very deep groups to a
- 4:40Speaker 2: point where I think you'll probably see some udfas even
- 4:43Speaker 2: come out and make some noise at some point, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 2: along the way in their career. Just a lot of
- 4:46Speaker 2: really good players come out there.
- 4:48Speaker 1: This is the voice that Nick Baumgrinder is, the NFL
- 4:50Speaker 1: Draft writer for the Athletic joining us from outside Detroit
- 4:53Speaker 1: on the NFL Draft Day.
- 4:54Speaker 3: With a thirty second pick, the Seahawks are in a
- 4:57Speaker 3: They're in the fringe between first.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Round talent and that Day two depth.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Should the Seahawks prioritize immediate contributors, maybe that's offensive line,
- 5:08Speaker 3: running back, or swing on higher upside players who could
- 5:12Speaker 3: fall due to value of their position.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Or risk.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I think that yeah. I think for the most part,
- 5:21Speaker 2: do do what they've always done, which is take the
- 5:23Speaker 2: best guy on the board, and if that guy's not there,
- 5:25Speaker 2: you get out of there. And I think that that's
- 5:26Speaker 2: kind of what I would expect from Seattle. There at
- 5:29Speaker 2: the bottom of the first round, you know, if somebody
- 5:32Speaker 2: wants to get Ty Simpson on a rookie contract or whatever,
- 5:35Speaker 2: you know, that's a good spot for that to happen. Possibly,
- 5:38Speaker 2: Garrett Nusmeyer, if you want to do that too, somebody else,
- 5:41Speaker 2: you know, or whatever you want to you know, if
- 5:43Speaker 2: you want to jump the line for some other type
- 5:44Speaker 2: of player, there's not a running back there or a
- 5:47Speaker 2: guy that they like sort of immediately would be like, oh, yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 2: that's guy's gonna come in and just be a difference
- 5:51Speaker 2: maker for us. You can find guys that would help you.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But I I kind of wonder if that might be
- 5:56Speaker 2: a trade back for them if they can figure it out,
- 5:58Speaker 2: because you know, they're they're not rostered out. They could
- 6:01Speaker 2: still use guys. But you know, with this draft the
- 6:03Speaker 2: way it sets up, I think they could do that.
- 6:05Speaker 2: They could address all those things in the second day two,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you know, and still have enough assets to continue to
- 6:11Speaker 2: stay as deep as they've always been. I think that's
- 6:13Speaker 2: kind of their strategy and would I would suggest that
- 6:15Speaker 2: stick with it for this draft, and I think could
- 6:16Speaker 2: work out pretty well.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We are the home of Huskies here on ninety three
- 6:19Speaker 1: point three Kjeff fam and a lot of people out
- 6:21Speaker 1: here are wondering where Denzel Boston mayned up. There's a
- 6:23Speaker 1: lot of noise that could be Philadelphia. Because of the
- 6:26Speaker 1: relationship between Howie Morsman, Philadelphia's general manager and Jed Fish.
- 6:30Speaker 1: They were college buddies at the University of Florida in
- 6:32Speaker 1: the mid nineteen nineties. Do you see Denzel Boston as
- 6:35Speaker 1: a first round pick? If so, where do you think
- 6:37Speaker 1: he might land?
- 6:39Speaker 2: Oh? Absolutely yes. I think he is definitely one of
- 6:41Speaker 2: those receivers that is in that conversation somewhere probably in
- 6:44Speaker 2: the twenties. Maybe, you know, maybe maybe he goes to
- 6:47Speaker 2: the late twenties. But I think he's a first rounder.
- 6:50Speaker 2: You know. I think he's in that group with the
- 6:51Speaker 2: Omar Cooper Casey concepts she on. The difference between him
- 6:55Speaker 2: and those guys is he's much bigger. He doesn't have
- 6:57Speaker 2: the crazy, you know, deep speed, but I think he
- 7:00Speaker 2: gets the most out of his body. He's really good
- 7:01Speaker 2: in the air, you know, a really good chain mover,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and I think just a good receiver. I think he's
- 7:06Speaker 2: a big guy that plays like a little guy in
- 7:07Speaker 2: some ways underneath where he's kind of tough and tight
- 7:10Speaker 2: spaces and all that stuff too. So I do think
- 7:12Speaker 2: he's a first round pick. I've wondered about him with Pittsburgh.
- 7:15Speaker 2: They I know they want a receiver, and I don't
- 7:17Speaker 2: think that, you know, early in the process. I think
- 7:20Speaker 2: a lot of people were hopeful that Jordan Tyson was
- 7:21Speaker 2: going to fall, and I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I think the medicals checked out fine there and he's
- 7:25Speaker 2: probably he might be a top ten guy along with Tate.
- 7:28Speaker 2: So you know, Lemon's not gonna be on the board
- 7:30Speaker 2: much longer either. So I do wonder if Pitsburgh jumps
- 7:34Speaker 2: in there and lets Denzel Boston, but from Denzel, Boston's
- 7:37Speaker 2: right after Lemon. After those top three, I think Boston
- 7:40Speaker 2: would be my four. So I think he's really he's
- 7:43Speaker 2: gonna be a good player.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Well, let's stay with you, Dov.
- 7:45Speaker 3: You know Greg took the first one off those second
- 7:47Speaker 3: with Jonah Coleman running back.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Big liu dude, if that makes sense? They come.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I went on the Ringer and looked up their draft
- 7:54Speaker 3: guide and they compare him to a thick Bucky Irving
- 7:56Speaker 3: pickup truck back skill set. He acts the pop pop
- 8:01Speaker 3: end juice, but has the wiggle on burst to break
- 8:03Speaker 3: tackles and will himself into the end zone. Where could
- 8:06Speaker 3: you see him? Where could he fit for his rookie season?
- 8:09Speaker 3: I'm guessing you probably have him going second, third, round.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that that's probably about right. I think
- 8:15Speaker 2: he could go day two, and he could also slip
- 8:17Speaker 2: and fall into day three. I think that that's a
- 8:18Speaker 2: tricky one. The running backs, you know, Jadarian Price is
- 8:22Speaker 2: the top guy. He and Mike Washington, maybe EMITTT Johnson
- 8:25Speaker 2: are the guys that I would say, I would for
- 8:26Speaker 2: sure think are going to go on day two, and
- 8:29Speaker 2: then after that it becomes either Joan of Coleman, maybe
- 8:32Speaker 2: DeMont Claiborne, k Tron Allen that group if they can
- 8:36Speaker 2: slip into the bottom of day two or if they
- 8:38Speaker 2: won't be at the very top of day three. So
- 8:40Speaker 2: I think Coleman, I like that count from the ring
- 8:43Speaker 2: or the like a thicker Bucky Irving. That's exactly what
- 8:45Speaker 2: he is.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I mean he is.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He's a bowling ball and a guy who I think
- 8:49Speaker 2: is durable. It can do a lot of different things,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and that's the name of the game anymore. Can you
- 8:53Speaker 2: do everything in the NFL. If you can't be a
- 8:55Speaker 2: running back who blocks catches, can run inside, get outside,
- 8:58Speaker 2: and just be a three down three no matter where
- 9:00Speaker 2: you are in the depth chart, you're not gonna make it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: And I think he's won for sure, a couple other
- 9:05Speaker 2: guys jumped him this year. He was probably higher on
- 9:07Speaker 2: the board earlier in the year. But he could be
- 9:09Speaker 2: a guy that's pretty good value for somebody, especially if
- 9:11Speaker 2: he falls into the fourth round.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Every year, every year there's a guy that they invited
- 9:17Speaker 1: to the draft. He sits in the green room and
- 9:19Speaker 1: he sits there and he sits there and it thanks forever.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Going back to Aaron Rodgers's way through the entire round
- 9:24Speaker 1: to Green Bay, who do you see as someone who
- 9:27Speaker 1: may not go as highly as he's being mocked to
- 9:31Speaker 1: as maybe the guy who has a camera on him
- 9:34Speaker 1: late in tonight and maybe even tomorrow.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Uh So, for me, I think that there's a couple
- 9:40Speaker 2: of candidates there. We'll see about Ruben Bain obviously, we're
- 9:43Speaker 2: gonna see where what happens with him, you know, and
- 9:45Speaker 2: everything else, right, and then when you get down the board,
- 9:49Speaker 2: I think a couple guys Casey concept. She is a
- 9:51Speaker 2: receiver that I think a lot of people are really
- 9:53Speaker 2: excited about what he can do. From an athletic standpoint.
- 9:57Speaker 2: They think, you know, which is good, which is all real,
- 9:59Speaker 2: But he's and he drops a lot of passes. He's
- 10:01Speaker 2: one that I could see maybe falling and people saying,
- 10:03Speaker 2: what's happening here? You know that kind of deal. One
- 10:07Speaker 2: other guy that I've seen mocked in the first round
- 10:10Speaker 2: a bunch that I don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong,
- 10:12Speaker 2: but I don't see as TJ. Parker from Clemson. He
- 10:16Speaker 2: was really good as a freshman, and just I feel
- 10:20Speaker 2: like the arrow has gone down every year since. It
- 10:22Speaker 2: wasn't like it was the same way for Peter Woods.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I just I don't know. I don't know if I'm
- 10:25Speaker 2: taking him in the first round. So kind of those guys,
- 10:27Speaker 2: right there would be money handful.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Where do you read Jamon McCloy, the cornerback from Tennessee,
- 10:32Speaker 1: who's skill wise, you think could be a top twelve pick.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Yet the injury concerns Now there's talk that he might
- 10:37Speaker 1: need a second knee surgery. Do you see that scaring
- 10:41Speaker 1: off teams? And he may not even go in the
- 10:43Speaker 1: first round.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be a polarizing deal. I think it's
- 10:46Speaker 2: all about what do you trust for your medical evaluation
- 10:49Speaker 2: of him? And you know there's a reason why he
- 10:51Speaker 2: didn't run or do much at the combine and wanted
- 10:53Speaker 2: to do all that stuff and save it for his PRODA,
- 10:55Speaker 2: which he did test well at his pro day. But again,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you don't know, you know what, you don't know this
- 11:00Speaker 2: knee and he only played one year and as good
- 11:03Speaker 2: as that sophomore year was, who knows if that's going
- 11:06Speaker 2: to be what we see again. So you know, I mean,
- 11:10Speaker 2: if we weren't talking injury concerns, he's the top ten player,
- 11:14Speaker 2: it still would not shock me if somebody takes him
- 11:16Speaker 2: in the top fifteen because they convinced themselves that he's fine.
- 11:20Speaker 2: But he's what I've thought about all year that I
- 11:22Speaker 2: don't know if he's going to fall out of the
- 11:23Speaker 2: first round because he's so talented, I feel like somebody
- 11:25Speaker 2: would take a chance, but I definitely think he's going
- 11:27Speaker 2: to slide. I would be a little surprised if somebody
- 11:30Speaker 2: with that high on him because we just don't know,
- 11:32Speaker 2: and that would be pretty risky in a gamble that
- 11:35Speaker 2: could pay off and he could be a TV one
- 11:37Speaker 2: for you, but like a risk nonetheless.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Right, Nick, have you ever just drafted a guy based
- 11:43Speaker 3: on his name or just put him on the draftboard
- 11:45Speaker 3: because you're like, no, this this guy's name is pretty awesome.
- 11:47Speaker 1: He's a top one hundred player. Do it?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Have you done that?
- 11:51Speaker 2: I have not done that, But like I mean, I've
- 11:53Speaker 2: been tempted with guys obviously over the years, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 2: but no, I've not done that.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Well, there's a guy, Romelo Height. I love the great name,
- 12:02Speaker 1: but he's also got some skills.
- 12:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:04Speaker 3: He's a talented player, twitchy, high motor pass rusher with
- 12:07Speaker 3: explosive movement skills and absolutely no chill off the edge.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And I think for whatever reason that just outside of
- 12:13Speaker 3: the name, I think there could be a fit in Seattle.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Now.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I know, yes, there's tons of talent out there, but
- 12:19Speaker 3: off of the name alone, you see where I'm going
- 12:21Speaker 3: with it. But what makes his skill set available for
- 12:23Speaker 3: the Seahawks and could be could he potentially be a fit?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he's a He's one of these guys
- 12:29Speaker 2: that I think he might slide too, because he's kind
- 12:31Speaker 2: of a He's small, right, He's not very big, He's
- 12:34Speaker 2: not He's not a guy that's going to be a
- 12:35Speaker 2: full three down player. He's really small. He's like six
- 12:37Speaker 2: three under two forty I think is what he weighed
- 12:40Speaker 2: in at. And but it's all gas off the edge,
- 12:44Speaker 2: Like you said, I mean, he just he gets under
- 12:45Speaker 2: people and can He is very dangerous on second and
- 12:48Speaker 2: long third down at all. And so I think for
- 12:50Speaker 2: a team like Seattle who loves guys like that, that
- 12:52Speaker 2: they can bring in as package players and just put
- 12:55Speaker 2: him in situational rush situations where you don't know what
- 12:58Speaker 2: is happening, you know, maybe don't know he's coming from.
- 13:01Speaker 2: You know, Romelo rushed inside a little bit too, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 2: at times they moved him around. I think that that
- 13:05Speaker 2: is exactly the type of guy that I would look
- 13:08Speaker 2: for if I was a Seahawks fan. Another guy maybe
- 13:11Speaker 2: later on the on the board would be like a
- 13:12Speaker 2: Trey Moore from Texas. He's kind of built the same way.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Sorry Nick, but like you know, it's not the same.
- 13:21Speaker 2: How about Jasjon Barham. That's not bad, Okay, that's not bad.
- 13:25Speaker 2: He's big, and he's a guy that used to be
- 13:28Speaker 2: an inside linebacker who has moved sort of to the
- 13:31Speaker 2: sam edge roll and is very raw. But like he
- 13:34Speaker 2: I think is a guy that a lot of people
- 13:35Speaker 2: talked about maybe in the top one hundred as well. So, yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 2: a couple of guys like that, for Josh Woo, Joseph
- 13:39Speaker 2: from Tennessee. Another one that might fit that fit that
- 13:42Speaker 2: bill as well.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Nick Bombguarding of the Athletic, joining us on the Beacon
- 13:45Speaker 1: Plumbing hotline hours before the NFL Draft begins. The NFL
- 13:48Speaker 1: Draft writer for The Athletic earlier, when you were talking
- 13:51Speaker 1: about quarterbacks and Ty Simpson as the bottom of the
- 13:53Speaker 1: first round and potentially the Seahawks trading down, perhaps would
- 13:56Speaker 1: say Arizona. You also mentioned Garrett Nusmeyer in the same breath.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Do you rate them equally? And maybe nuss Meyer is
- 14:04Speaker 1: the number two quarterback in this draft.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I think they're pretty close. I think that you know,
- 14:09Speaker 2: some people would, you know, say that, why would you
- 14:11Speaker 2: trade up for Tysonson when you can just wait and
- 14:13Speaker 2: get Garrett, you know, Garrett Nusmier. I mean, like that's
- 14:15Speaker 2: been kind of a thing that I've heard a few
- 14:18Speaker 2: times from people over the last several months. You know,
- 14:20Speaker 2: Nussmeyer obviously had a disastrous final year there at LSU
- 14:25Speaker 2: with the injury and everything else and the coaching staff
- 14:27Speaker 2: falling apart and et cetera. But it wasn't it wasn't
- 14:30Speaker 2: as bad as you know, it could have been. He
- 14:33Speaker 2: did he was hurt the whole time. He didn't really complain.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He tried to grit through it. And then he went
- 14:37Speaker 2: to the Senior Bowl and looked like the Garrett Nusmeyer
- 14:40Speaker 2: that threw for four thousand yards in twenty twenty four.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And I think a lot of people were like, oh, Okay,
- 14:44Speaker 2: well that was a really bad year that really he
- 14:46Speaker 2: had nothing to do with. He got hurt and et cetera.
- 14:48Speaker 2: So we're we're still in on the guy that we'd
- 14:52Speaker 2: liked prior to and it's a very smart player who's
- 14:55Speaker 2: a team guy, patient player. He's the son of a
- 14:57Speaker 2: coach who knows football. And I think, if nothing else
- 15:01Speaker 2: and probably what will happen, I think Garrettnusmyer could be
- 15:03Speaker 2: a good backup for a really long time and play
- 15:05Speaker 2: for a lot of years in the NFL. Is a
- 15:07Speaker 2: smart guy who helps the starter, and if the starter
- 15:10Speaker 2: gets hurt for a couple of weeks, he needs to
- 15:12Speaker 2: step in and hold the fork down.
- 15:13Speaker 1: He can do that.
- 15:14Speaker 2: So to me, like in some ways I like dust
- 15:17Speaker 2: Meyer better. I like Ty Simpson because I know more
- 15:19Speaker 2: about him, and you know what I mean, Like Fridday,
- 15:21Speaker 2: Simpson could outperform Nusmeyer long term. But if I'm right now.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I need to back up tomorrow. I'm more interested maybe
- 15:26Speaker 2: in Garrett Nusmeyer, So I've wondered about that. Yeah, if
- 15:28Speaker 2: he depending on how far Tie falls. I mean, Ty's
- 15:31Speaker 2: got a lot of physical ability. But we'll see what
- 15:33Speaker 2: happens there. But I don't think us Meyer will be
- 15:35Speaker 2: waiting too long. I think he's gone on Friday.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Okay, finally, Nick, before I let you go and do
- 15:40Speaker 1: the job you're paid to do. Busy three days ahead
- 15:43Speaker 1: of you and me and everybody else in the draft,
- 15:46Speaker 1: where what's the surprise your sleeper dark horse surprise that
- 15:50Speaker 1: gets announced tonight that everyone was like, whoa that we
- 15:53Speaker 1: didn't see that coming? It happens every year. And yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 1: is there anyone I'll fellle best here for a second
- 15:59Speaker 1: to let you think about it. But there are teams
- 16:01Speaker 1: that are known for that. The Seahawks often zag when
- 16:04Speaker 1: people think they're gonna zig. But is there anyone tonight
- 16:07Speaker 1: that's gonna people are gonna be wondering why to do that?
- 16:11Speaker 2: I could see a couple I could see. I love
- 16:12Speaker 2: Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech, the linebacker. You know, I
- 16:16Speaker 2: don't think that he'd ordinarily be a guy that we
- 16:18Speaker 2: talk about up there, but I definitely think he's one
- 16:20Speaker 2: that could interest people enough because they just fall in
- 16:23Speaker 2: love with him so much and they say, Okay, we're
- 16:25Speaker 2: just gonna do this. The same thing with Golda from
- 16:27Speaker 2: Cincinnati actually the other linebacker there, and then the other
- 16:30Speaker 2: edge Malachi Lawrence from UCF. A lot of people have
- 16:34Speaker 2: him mocked way lower than the NFL has him. He's
- 16:38Speaker 2: been talked about for like a couple of months inside
- 16:40Speaker 2: the league. I think is a guy that's gonna flirt
- 16:42Speaker 2: with the first round, and it wouldn't surprise me at
- 16:43Speaker 2: all if he slides in there. So he's the guy
- 16:46Speaker 2: that I've kind of watched for that one. Laura.
- 16:48Speaker 1: That would be against my pick of the Seahawks getting
- 16:51Speaker 1: him at the top of the second round after trading down.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I think that might be portunate. But then he could
- 16:55Speaker 2: be there at the top of the second round, right
- 16:57Speaker 2: at the top.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Maybe, But we'll see.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Lawrence the outside linebacker, ed drusher and plays four downs
- 17:03Speaker 1: and also run stops a running in pass coverage from
- 17:05Speaker 1: Central Florida. Nick, we know you're busy. We really appreciate
- 17:08Speaker 1: the time. We'll catch up with you soon. Thank you, sir,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I fellow, take care. Nick bomb Gardner, the NFL draft
- 17:14Speaker 1: writer won of many for the athletic joining us from Detroit,
- 17:18Speaker 1: Great State of Michigan NFL Draft Day. He's saying the
- 17:22Speaker 1: Seahawks he thinks, are moving down and the nus Meyer
- 17:25Speaker 1: is interesting. The reason I asked him about Garrett nus
- 17:27Speaker 1: Meyer is if teams don't if they view notus Meyer
- 17:30Speaker 1: more than some other folks outside of teams draft rooms
- 17:33Speaker 1: view him. Maybe they don't. Maybe the Cardinals or someone
- 17:36Speaker 1: else doesn't. They don't trade up to the Seahawks spot
- 17:40Speaker 1: for Ty Simpson. Maybe Ty Simpson is not the factor.
- 17:42Speaker 1: And as Nick said, they just wait until nuss Meyer
- 17:45Speaker 1: in the second round, and then you don't have as
- 17:48Speaker 1: good of a trade scenario for the Seahawks trading down.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I didn't see. Huh and see, baby, we only got
- 17:54Speaker 1: a few hours. It's amazing we're only talking about two
- 17:56Speaker 1: or three quarterbacks in the first round. That it's not
- 17:59Speaker 1: a strong class for that. No, it's not. It's startling.
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's just indicative of the whole draft and how the
- 18:05Speaker 1: league receives this compared to next year when the Seahawks
- 18:08Speaker 1: have twelve picks, and next year we're gonna be talking
- 18:10Speaker 1: about a ton of stuff compared to this year. Man,
- 18:13Speaker 1: that's a lot of players. They can refill every position
- 18:16Speaker 1: if they were literally one through one to eleven. If
- 18:18Speaker 1: you want to start on the one side of the ball,
- 18:20Speaker 1: that's right up next your chance to be a part
- 18:22Speaker 1: of the show. Four nine, four or five one. It's
- 18:24Speaker 1: coming ducks text line asked at the top of the show,
- 18:26Speaker 1: who do you think the Seahawks are can get with
- 18:27Speaker 1: the first pick? We'll have a contest. Will either do
- 18:30Speaker 1: bragging rights or I'll try to get to some stuff together.
- 18:32Speaker 1: We got in the office here we could give away
- 18:35Speaker 1: to see who nails it. I don't want to promise
- 18:37Speaker 1: something I can't give, so I haven't revealed it yet.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I have some ideas. And then eleven forty five infants
- 18:42Speaker 1: who's already down at Seahawks headquarters. He did what I
- 18:44Speaker 1: refuse to do, which has spend like twelve hours there.
- 18:47Speaker 1: He'll probably peel out as soon as the show's over.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Something I don't know. He'll be around. He's on next
- 18:52Speaker 1: He'll be at eleven forty five. All that coming up
- 18:55Speaker 1: on ninety three point three Kjrfen welcome ack one piece
- 19:02Speaker 1: of rota I want to correct and Forness is tied
- 19:05Speaker 1: up interviewing, so he will not be on cross Tack
- 19:07Speaker 1: eleven forty five. So we're gonna go to the segment
- 19:10Speaker 1: of the show known as Chris's NBA Corner. We're gonna
- 19:13Speaker 1: talk about the NBA playoffs at eleven forty five, heading
- 19:18Speaker 1: into twelve or three Infness down at the Virginia Mason Athletic.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So you know what the music means. It's time to
- 19:23Speaker 1: be a part of the show by reading back your
- 19:26Speaker 1: text at the Tacoma Dodge text line fort nine four
- 19:28Speaker 1: or five one? All right, where to begin?
- 19:31Speaker 3: Okay, how about Marcus texting in saying simply colton Hood cornerback.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Seahawks have definitely used that as a player to come
- 19:41Speaker 3: in and I don't know, feel the shoes of what
- 19:44Speaker 3: weak Wolham once had.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Is he capable enough? I think the stats say yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think he'd be a really good fit.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I've heard people say he has a similar style of
- 19:54Speaker 3: I don't know a Devin Witherspoon, a mad dog on
- 19:57Speaker 3: the field, talks crap after every play with fans have
- 20:01Speaker 3: known to love about Devin. He is very feisty on
- 20:04Speaker 3: the football field. Every play is talking, and you love it.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I enjoy watching him. I just wish I could get
- 20:09Speaker 3: the unedited copy of the tapes.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Greg.
- 20:12Speaker 3: If you have a connect, let me know. I would
- 20:14Speaker 3: love to get my hands on that. Let's see five
- 20:17Speaker 3: seven one Zion Young, interesting red.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Rusher from Missouri. Some people think he's a Day two guy.
- 20:24Speaker 3: You can never have enough edge rushers, and you know
- 20:27Speaker 3: that forefront is going to be disgusting, so why not
- 20:30Speaker 3: add another young piece that can come in give you
- 20:32Speaker 3: some pop here and there.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I agree, that's why I think they're getting out of
- 20:36Speaker 1: Kyle Lawrence. But now Lawrence's stock is rising if someone
- 20:40Speaker 1: else is going to take him, Greg, That's what it
- 20:42Speaker 1: sounds like, the way people talk.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And we'll see, uh one word from the two o
- 20:48Speaker 3: six Stokes or Stokes excuse me?
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Chuck's guy Arizona, a forty two year old cornerback.
- 20:54Speaker 1: What do you get us? He's he's been there a
- 20:58Speaker 1: while and been pounding that for man. I mean he's
- 21:02Speaker 1: called me every morning from the month talking about that guy.
- 21:06Speaker 1: What do you think I think they're gonna take Brandon
- 21:09Speaker 1: Cec If they do take a cornerback first. I think
- 21:11Speaker 1: he's going to be a second round pick. I think
- 21:13Speaker 1: they're taking an edge rusher first because they're gonna Mike
- 21:17Speaker 1: McDonald can get enough of those, and I think that
- 21:19Speaker 1: they would have a player like Malachi Lawrence rated high
- 21:23Speaker 1: on their draft board, Brandon Cec high on their draft
- 21:26Speaker 1: but higher than most teams on their draft board. I
- 21:28Speaker 1: think the running back comes and they will get one,
- 21:30Speaker 1: but I don't think unless it's Generian Price is interesting
- 21:35Speaker 1: because he's the clear number two in most people's eyes.
- 21:39Speaker 1: How far down into the second round can the Seahawks
- 21:41Speaker 1: think he'll still be there. I've mentioned this before the Seahawks.
- 21:45Speaker 1: The beauty of their good drafts and when they've really
- 21:48Speaker 1: hit on drafts is when they nail the NFL Draft.
- 21:50Speaker 1: They have two draft boards. Essentially, there are other things
- 21:53Speaker 1: on the but up front, they have an NFL draft
- 21:55Speaker 1: board where all the other teams and what they project
- 21:57Speaker 1: those teams are going to do in each round, and
- 21:58Speaker 1: then they have their draft board of their highest rated
- 22:01Speaker 1: players at each spot in the round. They have nailed
- 22:04Speaker 1: that NFL Draft board, their connections around the league. John
- 22:07Speaker 1: Schneider's experience having worked in Washington Kansas City, Green Bay
- 22:11Speaker 1: and the Seattle Course for sixteen years. They've got connections,
- 22:15Speaker 1: they got stuff. When they go to the Combine, Chris,
- 22:17Speaker 1: they don't just hang out in the lobby, and I
- 22:19Speaker 1: mean they're doing work. They're networking. They're constantly coffee shops
- 22:24Speaker 1: and the Russell Wilson tray had done it on a
- 22:26Speaker 1: napkin and a coffee shop in Indianapolis. At the Combine,
- 22:31Speaker 1: they work it and they if they nail that board
- 22:35Speaker 1: and say well, Jenarium price is going to be there
- 22:37Speaker 1: at sixty four or at twenty to thirty nine if
- 22:40Speaker 1: we trade back, that's when they make those type of
- 22:43Speaker 1: moves and that's when they've succeeded. They nailing the rest
- 22:46Speaker 1: of the league.
- 22:47Speaker 3: How about defensive back corner that is eighty on Terrell,
- 22:51Speaker 3: the brother of what's his name. I'm just drawing a
- 22:53Speaker 3: brink bank aj Toorel Trell, a little brother.
- 22:57Speaker 1: What do you think about that? Yes, that kind of Yes,
- 23:03Speaker 1: they love all of that. He would understand from family,
- 23:06Speaker 1: the culture of Seattle, Yes, and cornerback I think is
- 23:12Speaker 1: somewhere that they will also be looking heavily in and
- 23:15Speaker 1: not just the need part, but McDonald the way he
- 23:18Speaker 1: plays defense and multiplicity and roles in the secondary and
- 23:22Speaker 1: moving pieces around and playing five to six defensive backs
- 23:25Speaker 1: almost as base defense. Yeah, when they let Rieq Willen go,
- 23:30Speaker 1: they figured they will be augmenting in the secondary.
- 23:34Speaker 3: So, Greg, do you think Seattle will host an NFL Draft?
- 23:38Speaker 1: I saw that. That's interesting. I wouldn't think that's first
- 23:43Speaker 1: on the NFL's list that they'd want to go there next.
- 23:47Speaker 1: They've done the traditional city so far, Detroit, Green Bay, Pittsburgh.
- 23:55Speaker 1: They're moving it around though as a piece. And let's
- 23:59Speaker 1: face it, it's all about money. What city would give
- 24:01Speaker 1: them money, would give them everything they want, would give
- 24:04Speaker 1: them carte blanche in the middle of town for about
- 24:06Speaker 1: two weeks, because that's how long the preparation has been
- 24:09Speaker 1: going on in Pittsburgh. Yeah. Sure, I don't think it's
- 24:16Speaker 1: a priority. I don't think it's a priority for the
- 24:17Speaker 1: Seahawks to host the draft or the city of Seattle
- 24:20Speaker 1: to host the draft. They're in the middle of this
- 24:22Speaker 1: World Cup run right now, and the preparations for that,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and the infrastructure and the money that it's going to
- 24:27Speaker 1: cost to do that, I don't think the city is
- 24:29Speaker 1: an appetite for that. But they are moving around and
- 24:35Speaker 1: I could see. I mean, they've done what Kansas City,
- 24:37Speaker 1: so they've done some historical franchises, legacy franchises as it were.
- 24:42Speaker 1: But I wouldn't hate it. I'm just I don't think
- 24:46Speaker 1: it's not going downtown far away? Is that the same
- 24:49Speaker 1: with the World Cup?
- 24:50Speaker 3: You're gonna be I mean, I have to come here unfortunately,
- 24:53Speaker 3: you know, great, but I'm hoping it's not gonna be
- 24:55Speaker 3: that crazy.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Well, the World Cup is going to be gigantically crazy.
- 24:58Speaker 1: They're going to close down First aven Who because they're
- 25:00Speaker 1: gonna have fan fest and traffic, yeah, exactly, traffic for
- 25:04Speaker 1: a month is going to be rerouted and every day
- 25:09Speaker 1: perhaps because the light rail is gonna be jammed and
- 25:11Speaker 1: the buses are going to be packed, and it's a
- 25:14Speaker 1: big deal.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Let's see if we can do this show from home. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 3: we'll pitch that to Rich see how that goes.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, we're gonna be part of the World Cup
- 25:21Speaker 1: and broadcasting from you will be there. If I ain't
- 25:24Speaker 1: got to lead to creb, I'm staying at the crib.
- 25:26Speaker 1: You don't want to be part of the world's biggest
- 25:28Speaker 1: sporting event. I just that's a lot of people.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I'd rather just be at the comfort of my own
- 25:32Speaker 3: home when it's eighty five degrees and complain like, oh
- 25:35Speaker 3: my god, it's hot.
- 25:36Speaker 1: The one thing you may not realize some of you
- 25:38Speaker 1: around the state probably do, but this World Cup has tentacles.
- 25:41Speaker 1: They're gonna have a training camp for teams in Spokane.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I did hear about that yet, most solid and Egypt's
- 25:47Speaker 1: team is going to be training at Gonzaga. That's pretty cool. Yeah,
- 25:50Speaker 1: how cool? Is that cool? Actually really cool? And then
- 25:54Speaker 1: it's not like there's gonna be open practices but but yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but still, yeah, I guess they're gonna be the Egypt
- 26:00Speaker 1: saw is gonna standing at the Davenport for all I know.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Couldn't get up with the coma dome or something. I
- 26:03Speaker 1: don't know. Make a little closer. Well, they're gonna have
- 26:06Speaker 1: they're trying to involve the whole state, so they're having
- 26:08Speaker 1: two bases. It's only a half hour flight, so it's
- 26:10Speaker 1: not right. Yeah, Greg, you're right, a half hour flight?
- 26:12Speaker 1: How much is that flight? Nowadays? Print money and they
- 26:17Speaker 1: get some kickbacks and they do. They're known for that.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But there's gonna be fan fest and Olympia they're gonna
- 26:22Speaker 1: be fan fest in Bellingham and the Tacoma. This is
- 26:26Speaker 1: has tentacles. It's gonna be a state wide, region wide event.
- 26:30Speaker 1: But yeah, those of you who listened to us in Spokane,
- 26:33Speaker 1: I know we got a bunch of listeners there, got
- 26:35Speaker 1: Mosawa and he's just gonna be in the backyard this
- 26:38Speaker 1: summer Sounders facility. Of course, it's gonna be the other
- 26:43Speaker 1: staging home base for teams.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Greg.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Has anyone ever guessed a Snider first pick correct?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good pick, that's a I haven't I
- 26:54Speaker 1: got a cut Like last year, I had a couple.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Did Jaln Milroe pick in the third round? But no,
- 27:00Speaker 1: the first picks are Oh often he doesn't. As I said,
- 27:03Speaker 1: he trades down. Fourteen times he's traded his first round pick.
- 27:07Speaker 1: So no, to answer your question, I don't know anyone
- 27:10Speaker 1: who's no. Yeah, well, like today he'll trade down. We
- 27:16Speaker 1: might all get that right, but then once he trades down,
- 27:18Speaker 1: who his first pick will be after that? Rarely get
- 27:20Speaker 1: that right? Yeah, I ever? If ever, Yeah, it's tough.
- 27:24Speaker 1: It's it's tough.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Okay, Will you and Greg discuss if you would trade
- 27:29Speaker 3: their first round pick for a chan A Chang. You
- 27:33Speaker 3: know what the running back of the play for the Dolphins,
- 27:35Speaker 3: or how about one of their high picks this year
- 27:38Speaker 3: in a high pick next year.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Well, they have the inventory to do that. And if they,
- 27:43Speaker 1: in fact, you could make and there's somebody on the
- 27:45Speaker 1: text line asks, you could make the argument that if
- 27:47Speaker 1: they really loved the guy in this draft on their
- 27:49Speaker 1: draft board number one, they could package to picks from
- 27:52Speaker 1: next year to move up. Now, teams, this is my
- 27:56Speaker 1: twenty first NFL draft. Tonight, it'll be my twenty first
- 27:59Speaker 1: NFL draft. Cuver bring my teams buy and large when
- 28:02Speaker 1: they trade on draft Day. They want immediate return, even
- 28:06Speaker 1: players or picks in this year's draft, because they don't
- 28:09Speaker 1: want there is still the unknown of next year. And yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you can get a first round pick from the Seahawks
- 28:15Speaker 1: to move up for the first round pick next year
- 28:17Speaker 1: to move up that they want to. They want immediacy
- 28:21Speaker 1: for giving up their first round pick in this year's
- 28:24Speaker 1: draft by and much or player or starter for a
- 28:26Speaker 1: first round pick. I'll say this again. The Seahawks have
- 28:30Speaker 1: traded a first round pick fourteen times in sixteen years
- 28:33Speaker 1: under John Schneider. Zero times they've moved up, dude.
- 28:37Speaker 3: The combine interviews with oh h with Lemon scare you
- 28:45Speaker 3: at all.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I'm not pret I don't know. The reports of the
- 28:49Speaker 1: combine interviews all that I don't and not because I
- 28:54Speaker 1: don't know, just didn't investigate that. No, the two oh
- 28:59Speaker 1: six s, this is an interesting one to me. The
- 29:02Speaker 1: Seahawks don't have any legitimate home run threats in the backfield.
- 29:05Speaker 1: That's a major difference. Without Walker's ability to score from anywhere,
- 29:09Speaker 1: Hawks don't win a Super Bowl, period, meaning last year,
- 29:12Speaker 1: players who get four yards every carry is and how
- 29:14Speaker 1: teams win. It's the guys that make plays and put
- 29:17Speaker 1: the defense on skates. Seattle doesn't need a bunch of
- 29:21Speaker 1: dudes that are red zone threats. They need guys that
- 29:23Speaker 1: are midfield threats. That's interesting. They shift the field the
- 29:28Speaker 1: Seahawks last year it was noticeable they used their pass
- 29:32Speaker 1: game to get across midfield and then they use their
- 29:35Speaker 1: run game in the plus side of the midfield area
- 29:38Speaker 1: forty to fifty and then would take shots into the
- 29:41Speaker 1: end zone from there. But they often passed the ball
- 29:44Speaker 1: to get the midfield, so then they were in a
- 29:46Speaker 1: position to either score with Jason Myers on a long
- 29:48Speaker 1: field goal or on the edge of that, have Michael
- 29:51Speaker 1: Dixon punt the team into the goal line and have
- 29:54Speaker 1: the field position switch. That's how they won that thirteen
- 29:56Speaker 1: to three game in Week eighteen at San Francisco, just
- 29:59Speaker 1: saying you, your offense can't drive on our defense the
- 30:02Speaker 1: link of the field in ninety plus yards. So this
- 30:04Speaker 1: is how we're gonna play. The midfield threat, the home
- 30:08Speaker 1: run threat that you're talking about. We don't honestly, the
- 30:12Speaker 1: league doesn't know if Emmanuel Wilson is that. He wasn't
- 30:15Speaker 1: a full time enough guy in Green Bay to really
- 30:17Speaker 1: know what kind of back they are, and he was
- 30:20Speaker 1: a five hundred yard part time rusher, the guy they
- 30:23Speaker 1: signed in a one year contract in free agency. We
- 30:26Speaker 1: don't know. We don't know, Chris Seattle, Pacific Northwest Seattle fans,
- 30:31Speaker 1: Seahawk fans, we don't know what Kenny McIntosh is because
- 30:34Speaker 1: he's been there three years and been injured for about
- 30:36Speaker 1: two and a half of them.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's unfortunate. It's just you're putting a lot on
- 30:41Speaker 3: him to say, and you'll make it the whole season.
- 30:43Speaker 3: But maybe they did it right with k nine and
- 30:45Speaker 3: Zach could they find that Yin and Yang with what's
- 30:49Speaker 3: his name? Wilson and what's the running back in the
- 30:51Speaker 3: Emanuel Wilson and Kenny McIntosh.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Could that be the new duo?
- 30:55Speaker 3: Not saying they'll be as explosive and as good, but
- 30:58Speaker 3: maybe there's something to that. And the draft the guy
- 31:00Speaker 3: as well, and the by year four he's your starter
- 31:03Speaker 3: or year three whatever the case may be right, so
- 31:05Speaker 3: that that could work, but we'll have to wait and see.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Right again, the Seahawks have no running backs on contract
- 31:11Speaker 1: under contract beyond this year in the draft.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Of course they I think so too. When you say
- 31:17Speaker 3: it like that, it's like you have no room.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I think so too. But this week is this, This
- 31:21Speaker 1: draft is so weak in running backs that you don't
- 31:24Speaker 1: go reaching for one just so you have one under contract. Right,
- 31:27Speaker 1: come on, and they probably will have one in available
- 31:30Speaker 1: to him in the second and third round that they
- 31:32Speaker 1: really like, Mike Washington junior, Jenarium Price perhaps two five three.
- 31:39Speaker 1: The Seahawks do not need picks. They are not rebuilding.
- 31:42Speaker 1: There are plenty of dbs in edge in the draft,
- 31:44Speaker 1: but only three running backs. You get you pick Price
- 31:48Speaker 1: at thirty two. They may do that. They may they
- 31:52Speaker 1: may value Price so much that it's not especially if
- 31:55Speaker 1: Arizona wants to move back to just two places, maybe
- 31:57Speaker 1: the Seahawks say it's not worth it, or we'll get
- 32:00Speaker 1: the extra pick because Price is going to be available
- 32:02Speaker 1: at thirty four. That's the logic that they have tended
- 32:04Speaker 1: to do. If their guy they think is going to
- 32:06Speaker 1: be available a few spots back, trade the few spots
- 32:09Speaker 1: back to where you think it's now starting to be
- 32:11Speaker 1: in danger that he won't be around, And that, by
- 32:13Speaker 1: and large summarizes what John Schneider's mo has been at
- 32:18Speaker 1: the top of the drafts and trading down first picks
- 32:20Speaker 1: so often. Thank you for that, Thank you for your
- 32:22Speaker 1: input on the Tacoma Dog tess line. We do it
- 32:24Speaker 1: every day. At eleven thirty up next, the NBA Plastic
- 32:28Speaker 1: Portland is hosting a Web and Yama Less Spurs. It
- 32:33Speaker 1: appears because of the concussion to maybe the league's best,
- 32:36Speaker 1: most dynamic player. Now the Blazers are coming on with
- 32:39Speaker 1: a chance to take the series. League. Chris is going
- 32:41Speaker 1: to break down the NBA before we head to Ian
- 32:43Speaker 1: Furness at the top of the hour. Here on ninety
- 32:45Speaker 1: three point three KJRFM, Welcome back hours away from the
- 32:55Speaker 1: start of the NFL draft. Are people already lining up
- 32:57Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh? The NFL posting picture of that on their
- 33:01Speaker 1: social media sites for a draft of Bekins at five
- 33:03Speaker 1: o'cock Seattle time Stecks have the thirty second pick. As
- 33:06Speaker 1: you just heard and you probably know by now, the
- 33:09Speaker 1: NBA playoffs continue all of a sudden, the Portland Trailblazers
- 33:16Speaker 1: have an opportunity. They played amor nite in Game three
- 33:19Speaker 1: of their Western Conference first round game against the second
- 33:21Speaker 1: seeded Spurs. Of Blazers are seven victor Women. Yama has
- 33:25Speaker 1: made the trip. He's flying to Portland, but he is
- 33:28Speaker 1: still in the NBA's concussion protocol after his head slammed
- 33:31Speaker 1: off the hardwood and San Antonio on the second quarter.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He played only twelve minutes a Game two that San
- 33:37Speaker 1: Antonio lost to the Blazers. Now the Blazers come home
- 33:39Speaker 1: for the next two games in a one to one
- 33:41Speaker 1: series with women. Yama status unknown. Tonight, Nicks at Hawks
- 33:45Speaker 1: series tied one to one, Cavaliers at Raptors Cleveland's up
- 33:48Speaker 1: two oh and that best of seven Nuggets at Timberwolves
- 33:50Speaker 1: in the series tied one to one. What interest you
- 33:53Speaker 1: about the NBA playoffs right now? Chris?
- 33:55Speaker 3: For me, it's a what you mentioned the Portland Trailblazers,
- 33:58Speaker 3: but the Nuggets right now because the FI they're not
- 34:01Speaker 3: good defenders, but you know what, heart of a champion.
- 34:04Speaker 3: They can't defend well as well as I would say
- 34:07Speaker 3: a lot of the teams in the playoffs, But when
- 34:08Speaker 3: you have Jokic, Jamal Murray and a team that's been
- 34:11Speaker 3: there before, at what point do you just give it
- 34:14Speaker 3: your all and see where you land. And I think
- 34:16Speaker 3: they will bounce back, but they really got to try
- 34:18Speaker 3: to figure out how they can defend Anthony Edwards and
- 34:21Speaker 3: those guys. Because they can they can get buckets when
- 34:24Speaker 3: they need to, whether it's Anthony Edwards, nas Reed, you
- 34:27Speaker 3: name it, they will find a way to score. And
- 34:29Speaker 3: then keeping Rudy off the glass and making it tough
- 34:30Speaker 3: for him, make him try to score outside of obviously
- 34:33Speaker 3: getting rebounds, the second chance points they can limit that.
- 34:36Speaker 3: They could close this out in six, but I feel
- 34:38Speaker 3: like this is gonna be a long series and they
- 34:39Speaker 3: could go seven. But that's what I'm looking forward to
- 34:41Speaker 3: an excited about watching that series because those are two
- 34:43Speaker 3: teams that have played one another quite a bit so far.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Can they beat the Thunder the Nuggets? Absolutely not.
- 34:49Speaker 3: They are the Thunder are going to the Western Conference finals, bucket,
- 34:53Speaker 3: and they're gonna go to the NBA Finals. They're just
- 34:55Speaker 3: they're stacked, even without Jalen Williams, who actually hurt his
- 34:59Speaker 3: hands t So they're going to the finals.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Can Boston beat them? Hopefully? That was your NBA segment,
- 35:09Speaker 1: brought to you by Christopher Kidd, big NBA guy, Big
- 35:11Speaker 1: basketball guy. Thanks a lot for joining us. I will
- 35:14Speaker 1: have lots more tomorrow what I cleaned out of tonight.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Expecting to be a relatively quiet night at Seahawk headquarters
- 35:21Speaker 1: other than a trade down from thirty two, but we'll
- 35:22Speaker 1: see they could draft someone. Around eight o'clock. Ian Ferness
- 35:26Speaker 1: is at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, where I am
- 35:28Speaker 1: headed to. He joins us next. Thanks for listening. I'll
