- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, what up, y'all? It's your boy Kev on stage.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Tony Baker. This is the Ball Brothers.
- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, Joshy. This is a podcast where me and
- 0:07Speaker 1: Tony just make up a reason to be friends. I
- 0:09Speaker 1: cried on the internet for Tony.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And you caught me off guard with that. I didn't
- 0:13Speaker 2: caught myself off guard. I just woke up.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I caught myself off guard. I literally was like, I'm
- 0:17Speaker 1: going to tell this fun story about how we connected
- 0:20Speaker 1: on Green Bowl.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I thought this was going to be our sodas on
- 0:21Speaker 2: the internet, something fluff.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Them tears jumped. I mean, I got transported back. It
- 0:27Speaker 1: was so funny. I was like, at that moment, I
- 0:29Speaker 1: was like, I wasn't annoyed. I was just like, why Tony?
- 0:32Speaker 1: What did y'all eat for lunch? Yeah. What did you eat?
- 0:35Speaker 1: What did Liz eat?
- 0:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 0:38Speaker 1: What did y'all do specifically today around 7? I was like,
- 0:41Speaker 1: why are you asking me these real specific... Did you
- 0:43Speaker 1: eat breakfast, Kev? Okay, what'd you have? Okay, turkey bacon? Nah.
- 0:49Speaker 1: But in the moment, it was the one thing I
- 0:52Speaker 1: didn't have to think about. I was like, this pool
- 0:54Speaker 1: game and answering Tony's question specifically about what was it.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It was got me through. Because all my other text messages,
- 1:00Speaker 1: we got to get the body over here. What time
- 1:02Speaker 1: is this? Who's on the flyer? Somebody spelled his name
- 1:05Speaker 1: on the thing. They're at the funeral. Can you, can you,
- 1:07Speaker 1: can you get these flights? Can you? All right, Kev,
- 1:10Speaker 1: what'd you have for lunch?
- 1:11Speaker 2: What'd you have? What'd you eat?
- 1:12Speaker 1: You know what I had? I had Chick-fil-A, Tony.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's simple, man.
- 1:16Speaker 1: White casket. Oh yeah, I did get a Sonic drink.
- 1:20Speaker 1: What were y'all doing around, what time did you go
- 1:21Speaker 1: to bed? Around 11. Can you buy this hotel? And
- 1:25Speaker 1: take your turn.
- 1:27Speaker 3: For me, when I ask people what they had for dinner,
- 1:30Speaker 3: it's my love language to, you know, because we all
- 1:33Speaker 3: got to eat to survive. And I'm genuinely interested about
- 1:37Speaker 3: what you did.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So I'm just.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Like, yo, what did you eat today? And some people
- 1:42Speaker 3: be scared, like, you going to judge me?
- 1:44Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I'm just going to be like, you know.
- 1:46Speaker 3: And so I just wanted to, and also to let
- 1:50Speaker 3: you know that I'm here.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And I'm thinking about you specifically.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I'm thinking about you.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Right. I'm like, what y'all doing? Which is much better
- 1:55Speaker 1: than let me know if you need anything. Yeah. And
- 1:57Speaker 1: I know people who say let me know if you
- 1:59Speaker 1: need something mean well. Yeah. You have to learn that
- 2:01Speaker 1: that's not helpful. But I'm not going to let you know.
- 2:04Speaker 4: No.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Because you're putting it on them. Right. And a person
- 2:07Speaker 1: who's grieving or planning already has enough. Right. And also
- 2:11Speaker 1: everyone is saying that. So I'm not going to send
- 2:13Speaker 1: out a mass text of like, I need groceries. That's
- 2:15Speaker 1: why my home groceries was very helpful. She was like,
- 2:19Speaker 1: take care of something that you know they need. Just
- 2:21Speaker 1: ask their address.
- 2:22Speaker 2: That's it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Okay, what's your address? Food's on the way. When B.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Lou's mom died, what's your address, B. Lou? What kind
- 2:29Speaker 1: of food you like? Is there anything you don't like? Yep. Breakfast, lunch,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and dinner will be taken care of every day.
- 2:34Speaker 2: That's it.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Okay, now you've taken something away that I have to do.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Or when Danny's dad passed away, me and Melissa went
- 2:40Speaker 1: over to her house what's your favorite thing to watch
- 2:42Speaker 1: on Netflix? She was like, actually, I'm into this. Thing
- 2:45Speaker 1: was like a bling show. Okay, cool, let's watch. What
- 2:48Speaker 1: do you want to do? How would you like to
- 2:50Speaker 1: spend this time? She's like, I actually just don't even
- 2:52Speaker 1: want to talk about my dad. Watch the show. We
- 2:54Speaker 1: watched that show with her like her dad wasn't a
- 2:56Speaker 1: part of the story. Four hours, and she was like, man,
- 3:00Speaker 1: thank you. We don't have to see how you doing.
- 3:03Speaker 2: She's like, I don't want that. Just watch the show
- 3:07Speaker 2: with me. One time I went to.
- 3:10Speaker 3: the crash site of Sarang's accident and where the mural is.
- 3:15Speaker 3: And I was out there, I came across a guy
- 3:18Speaker 3: that I'm cool with. He was there, you know what
- 3:21Speaker 3: I'm saying? But he was just like, oh man, I'm
- 3:24Speaker 3: so sorry for you dog.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Oh man.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Oh man, I hate this for you dog. I'm so
- 3:33Speaker 3: sorry for you dog. And I was just like, yo,
- 3:35Speaker 3: it was so much sorrow dog. And I was just like,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and I know, you know, cause, cause you know, I
- 3:41Speaker 3: used to go to the barbershop and he was always there.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So he saw my boys all the time. He was
- 3:45Speaker 2: just like, oh, dog, man.
- 3:48Speaker 3: It's just, I feel so sorry for you, dog. And
- 3:52Speaker 3: I was just like, yo, if, if, if I was
- 3:55Speaker 3: somebody else, I would have crumbled further in this moment.
- 3:59Speaker 1: The only person who can rub my back is Ray J.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Everybody else, this makes me cry. Man. This always does that.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Ray J only did make me cry because I was
- 4:07Speaker 1: already crying and he smacked me hard for real.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Tears shot off your face.
- 4:12Speaker 1: All right. No grief today. Me and Tony talked about
- 4:18Speaker 1: this a while ago, but we never got around to it.
- 4:19Speaker 1: We're introducing a brand new way of doing the Ball
- 4:22Speaker 1: Brothers podcast episode. We're calling it the deep dive. So
- 4:27Speaker 1: we choose an actor. Today's actor is Samuel L.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Jackson. Oh, we doing Samuel L.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Okay. Who you thought, Denzel? Yeah. Nah, you
- 4:36Speaker 1: wanna do Denzel?
- 4:38Speaker 2: That's who I had in mind when you sent it.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I was like, Denzel.
- 4:40Speaker 1: We just did Denzel and Will. Okay. Do you need
- 4:43Speaker 1: time to think about Samuel L.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I could probably... Cook up stuff as we go.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Down the list. Okay, so here's how it works. We're
- 4:50Speaker 1: doing a deep dive of Samuel L. Jackson's career. First
- 4:53Speaker 1: movie you think of. Favorite movie. Best movie. Least favorite movie.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Best chemistry in a movie. Role they haven't played you'd
- 5:01Speaker 1: like to see. Best scene. Most overrated movie. Underrated movie.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Should've won an Oscar. Paycheck movie. That means the movie
- 5:08Speaker 1: that got them paid if it was one movie. Best
- 5:13Speaker 1: director for them, Hall of Fame performance, and Capitoff will
- 5:19Speaker 1: draft their top 10 movies. I take pick. He takes
- 5:22Speaker 1: a pick. We cannot repeat. We don't know how long
- 5:25Speaker 1: this will take because we'd be talking, but hopefully it's
- 5:28Speaker 1: around an hour.
- 5:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So we're starting off Samuel L. Jackson. First, actually, you
- 5:35Speaker 1: know what? I missed one. First movie you saw them in. Oh, okay.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Is the first thing I want to start with.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Now, the first movie we saw them in was the
- 5:44Speaker 3: first movie where they registered.
- 5:47Speaker 1: What's the difference?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Because I saw Sam Jackson in a lot of stuff
- 5:51Speaker 3: because I saw those movies, but he didn't register. Like,
- 5:54Speaker 3: he was in Coming to America. He didn't register as
- 5:57Speaker 3: Samuel L.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Jackson. Like, when I saw him after Coming to America,
- 6:00Speaker 2: I never was like, that's the dude from Coming to America.
- 6:03Speaker 1: First movie you saw him in.
- 6:04Speaker 2: First of all, I never saw this.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Even if you go back, yes. Even if you had, like,
- 6:08Speaker 1: I saw him in Coming to America. I did not
- 6:09Speaker 1: know that was Samuel L.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Jackson.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I later saw him. He registered for me in Pulp Fiction.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But then I was like, I've seen that dude before. Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 2: So we're just going straight scene.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Actual first movie, statistically. I got to dig in. So
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you the first movie that I saw. Okay, actually, no,
- 6:30Speaker 1: for sure, the first movie I saw him in, It
- 6:36Speaker 1: was either Coming to America or as Pookie in Jungle Fever. Gator.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Or Gator, I'm sorry. Pookie was Chris Rock.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Even when I watched him in Jungle Fever, I never
- 6:51Speaker 3: put two and two together.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Oh, that's the dude from.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Nope. First time. Whenever you put two and two together,
- 6:57Speaker 1: go backwards. It's Coming to America.
- 7:02Speaker 2: That's the first time you laid eyes on.
- 7:03Speaker 1: The first time I laid eyes on Samuel L. Jackson.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Coming to America was in 88? Yeah. Yeah. I was five.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I watched that early. Should not have been. Shout out
- 7:11Speaker 1: to Unsaidy. Unattended. Your royal penis is clean. Titties out
- 7:16Speaker 1: the water. I love black women. I like that. I
- 7:20Speaker 1: don't know why I like that, but I like that.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You know what?
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's coming to America. You diseased rhinoceros pizzle.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't know, for me, I don't know if it
- 7:32Speaker 3: was School Days or Coming to America. They both came
- 7:34Speaker 3: out in 88. I don't know which one I saw first.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I didn't see either film until they were on video.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I haven't seen School Days, but I saw Coming to
- 7:43Speaker 1: America on video.
- 7:44Speaker 3: So let me see. Let me look at the release dates, y'all,
- 7:46Speaker 3: before I commit. Now, he didn't register in School Days,
- 7:51Speaker 3: but I did see him because he was in it. Oh, God.
- 7:56Speaker 3: School Days came out first, so that means it was
- 7:58Speaker 3: on video first, so I think I saw School Days first.
- 8:02Speaker 2: So School Days might be the one. First of all,
- 8:06Speaker 2: Coming to America has a 7.1 on IMDb.
- 8:08Speaker 1: This is horseshit. IMDB does not respect cult classics. This
- 8:15Speaker 1: is horseshit. It does not respect black movies. It really
- 8:18Speaker 1: doesn't respect black comedies. It doesn't get the weigh-ins at all.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It's these racist whites on these computers giving it low grades.
- 8:26Speaker 3: How is Coming to America at a 7.1?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Quite possibly one of the greatest comedies of all time.
- 8:31Speaker 2: This is ridiculous.
- 8:31Speaker 1: If not top three, it's top three for me. What's
- 8:35Speaker 1: Dumb and Dumber on there?
- 8:36Speaker 2: I bet you it's something higher because it's white. Fuckers.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Sick of it, man. They just be hating on black.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Shit, man. They do. The woke mob.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Fucking racist dorks. Because you're nerdy because you're on IMDb,
- 8:52Speaker 3: so you're a dork. And now you're rating it low
- 8:56Speaker 3: just because it's black.
- 8:57Speaker 1: 7.3. Oh.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Even that's low.
- 9:00Speaker 1: For Dumb and Dumber? Yeah. Kind of took a little
- 9:03Speaker 1: bit of the steam out of your argument, though. It did, though.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But coming to America is easily 8 point something.
- 9:08Speaker 1: 8 point something.
- 9:09Speaker 2: That should be in top 250.
- 9:11Speaker 1: The third act falls off. No, you keep saying that.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I disagree.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Comedy-wise, not as a movie. Everything ain't funny all the
- 9:19Speaker 1: way through, no? A lot of comedy.
- 9:20Speaker 2: You got to get serious. On Friday, you got serious.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You do. But I feel like Friday's more of a
- 9:25Speaker 1: dramedy than a straight comedy.
- 9:27Speaker 2: No, that's a straight comedy.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Straight? Yeah. But it was still funny through the way through.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That fight was intense. It was. Not that scene. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: even after that, it goes right back to funny. Coming
- 9:38Speaker 1: to America took about 20 minutes off the funny. I'm
- 9:41Speaker 1: not saying it makes it less of a movie. I'm
- 9:43Speaker 1: pretty sure that's why people rate it low. Because after,
- 9:46Speaker 1: if you're really a prince, I'll marry you. It ain't
- 9:48Speaker 1: funny for a while after that. It wasn't that much.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Love after that.
- 9:51Speaker 1: About 15, 20.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Because it was funny when everything came to the head
- 9:55Speaker 3: of the McDowell household.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It was still funny. But it was so funny for
- 9:59Speaker 1: so long. The jokes permitted for long. But then it
- 10:02Speaker 1: got serious.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it got serious.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I think one of the best examples of a movie
- 10:05Speaker 3: staying truly funny all the way through the end is
- 10:07Speaker 3: something about Mary.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yes. and 40-year-old version.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And when everything came to a climax, to a head,
- 10:13Speaker 2: it was hilarious.
- 10:14Speaker 1: With the plot twists. With the plot twists. Plot twists
- 10:15Speaker 1: was hilarious. With Brett Favre.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Anyway, Sam Jackson. So yeah, school days.
- 10:19Speaker 1: School days, coming to America. Now, first movie you think of.
- 10:23Speaker 1: This doesn't have to be the best movie. This is just,
- 10:26Speaker 1: if somebody says Samuel L. Jackson, what is the first
- 10:29Speaker 1: movie that pops in your head?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Pulp Fiction.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Pulp Fiction. Turning around with that gun, and I heard
- 10:36Speaker 1: that God was might. That scene, I said, this, him.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Ever since Pulp Fiction, he.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Has been ingrained in my brain.
- 10:47Speaker 1: He is so good in that role, but that section specifically,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and shout out to, nah, shout out to Quentin Tarantino,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but shout out to him.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, shout out to him.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And shout out to him. I don't want to shout
- 11:00Speaker 1: him out. He just be writing movies so he can
- 11:02Speaker 1: say nigga and I don't like that.
- 11:02Speaker 2: He be niggin' it up.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And it's just overdue.
- 11:06Speaker 2: But listen.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But also what I was going to shout out was
- 11:09Speaker 1: John Travolta. Oh, yeah. He really let Sam Jackson get off.
- 11:13Speaker 1: The way he played that two-man game.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 11:17Speaker 1: John Travolta, much bigger star at that time.
- 11:19Speaker 2: But he was on the... He was on the decline.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I mean, we knew him.
- 11:24Speaker 2: We knew him, for sure.
- 11:25Speaker 1: But, you know. Yeah, no, it did wonders for his career.
- 11:28Speaker 1: For sure.
- 11:29Speaker 2: He was on the ass. He was like, man, I'll
- 11:31Speaker 2: do Look Who's Talking 7, y'all. I'll do Look Who's
- 11:34Speaker 2: Talking 7. Yeah. He needed Pulp Fiction. But Jules. Jules
- 11:38Speaker 2: was the one, though.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Jules had so much charisma. He was funny. When they
- 11:43Speaker 1: accidentally shot Phil Lamar in the back of his.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Quinn Tarantino knows how to write dialogue. He does.
- 11:52Speaker 1: That is his... That's why... That is his... For sure.
- 11:56Speaker 2: So, Sam Jackson, in the moment where they... At the apartment.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And later on, when he's talking to Tim Roth at
- 12:03Speaker 2: the diner.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yes.
- 12:04Speaker 3: He's really letting the character of Jules and Sam Jackson...
- 12:09Speaker 3: Chop it up.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Even the Royale with cheese. When I went to Paris,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I got a Royale with cheese. That whole conversation. And
- 12:15Speaker 1: they still have it. Yeah. And it was good.
- 12:18Speaker 2: That whole conversation was fantastic.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Royale with cheese.
- 12:21Speaker 2: This is how I picture hit men really talking in
- 12:23Speaker 2: the car.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Because you can't be all mean all the time. This
- 12:26Speaker 1: is just your job. That's just their job. Royale with cheese.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Royale with cheese.
- 12:30Speaker 3: The conversation him and John Travolta were having in the
- 12:32Speaker 3: diner about, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:34Speaker 2: So you don't eat pork.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I was like, it just felt like real men conversations.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We are men.
- 12:43Speaker 2: This is what we're going to be talking about. You
- 12:45Speaker 2: mean to tell me. We just killed some people. What
- 12:48Speaker 2: do you mean to tell me?
- 12:50Speaker 1: If we were hit men, we would be like, so
- 12:53Speaker 1: you mean to tell me you don't like Jurassic Park,
- 12:56Speaker 1: The Lost World?
- 12:57Speaker 2: I never felt it. I felt like it was a
- 12:59Speaker 2: cash grab.
- 13:01Speaker 1: But you still got dinosaur blood on our suits. Blood
- 13:04Speaker 1: on our suits.
- 13:05Speaker 3: We're wearing silly t-shirts because we had blood on our
- 13:08Speaker 3: original outfits.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Brain matter got on us. We didn't even blink. So
- 13:13Speaker 1: because it's just the fourth in the franchise, you don't
- 13:15Speaker 1: like it?
- 13:16Speaker 2: It just fell forced, though. It fell forced. That's all
- 13:21Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 13:23Speaker 1: If me and you were murderers, we would still do
- 13:25Speaker 1: the Ball Brothers podcast. For sure. We got to cut
- 13:28Speaker 1: off early, have to kill some people. Today's episode is
- 13:31Speaker 1: sponsored to you by death. We are the harbingers of death.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And not liquid death, like real. No, real.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Silencers.
- 13:40Speaker 1: All right, next one. your favorite Sam Jackson movie. This
- 13:46Speaker 1: does not have to be the best movie. This is
- 13:48Speaker 1: your favorite. Best is next. You're plugging in Sam Jackson.
- 13:52Speaker 1: You got a long flight. Said, hey, man, we got
- 13:54Speaker 1: all the Sam Jackson movies. What's your favorite one? We
- 13:57Speaker 1: gonna queue it up for you.
- 13:58Speaker 3: He's been in so many movies, though. So I'm gonna go... And.
- 14:04Speaker 2: This is not necessarily the best.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Don't gotta be the best.
- 14:07Speaker 2: But it's my favorite because... I'ma go with Eve's Bayou.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Really?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I'ma go with Eve's Bayou. Because for one, I
- 14:21Speaker 3: love that entire movie. From the ensemble casting to the
- 14:25Speaker 3: score to the setting. Everything was just beautiful in that movie.
- 14:31Speaker 3: But Sam Jackson is an example. Sam Jackson in that
- 14:34Speaker 3: movie is an example of a man You know, he's
- 14:39Speaker 3: a womanizer. He's cheating on his wife. But he's an
- 14:42Speaker 3: example of what I'm critical about Tyler Perry with.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to get that in.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I can see.
- 14:48Speaker 1: You wasn't going to let it go.
- 14:49Speaker 3: No, because this is why a movie like East Bayou
- 14:52Speaker 3: is the perfect example.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 2: That movie deals with stuff that Tyler Perry, that's his wheelhouse.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah. As far as content.
- 14:59Speaker 2: As far as content.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Subject matter.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Subject matter is all Tyler Perry.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:03Speaker 3: But what the difference is, nuance, gray. We know that
- 15:08Speaker 3: Sam Jackson is a womanizer.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:11Speaker 3: But you can see why he is appealing to the
- 15:14Speaker 3: women that he's with.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Which is great writing. Great writing. Great acting because abusers, womanizers.
- 15:22Speaker 1: They're charming. You got to have a woman to be
- 15:25Speaker 1: a womanizer. They're charming. It works. I don't think you saw.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You watch South African show. Oh, my God.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you right now.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about, though?
- 15:36Speaker 2: The one y'all been talking about?
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I haven't. The polygamous.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't seen it.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Jonas is a terrible person. Yeah. But you see how
- 15:45Speaker 1: it works.
- 15:46Speaker 2: And that's what's important. It works. That's what makes stuff believable.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's just enough to make the... They know you wrong.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 1: But when I said I'd get you a red BMW,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I got it.
- 15:57Speaker 3: And that's the key. Sam Jackson, you can see why
- 16:01Speaker 3: his daughters loved him. You can see why his wife
- 16:04Speaker 3: loved him. You can see why his patients loved him.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Regardless of what he was doing, I get it. Tyler
- 16:11Speaker 3: Perry can't do that. He'd just be a trash dude.
- 16:13Speaker 3: I'm like, how did he even bag you? Why would
- 16:17Speaker 3: you even go on another date with this asshole?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Tyler Perry don't know how to give.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You that nuance. Redeeming qualities. Yeah. Your villain's got to have,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I use this example all the time. Precious did such
- 16:30Speaker 1: a good job. You think there's nothing that Monique's character
- 16:35Speaker 1: can do to make you understand why she treats this
- 16:39Speaker 1: girl this way.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And then she didn't.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And that one scene with Mariah Carey, you like, oh, okay.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I get it. I get it.
- 16:46Speaker 2: You still whack as fuck. But okay.
- 16:49Speaker 1: At least I know why. At least I know why.
- 16:51Speaker 1: But she's still a piece of shit. It don't gotta
- 16:53Speaker 1: be an hour.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:55Speaker 1: It only sometimes can be one scene. One scene. But
- 16:58Speaker 1: you got to nail it.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Gotta nail it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You gotta nail it.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Since you know every fucking thing. Yeah.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Shout out Mariah Carey, man.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Mariah Carey was great in that.
- 17:06Speaker 1: She was almost unrecognizable in that.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 1: She was so good.
- 17:10Speaker 2: She was good.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I was like, oh, she's... I thought when I saw that,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I said, oh, Mariah Carey's gonna be in movies. Like,
- 17:15Speaker 1: this is the thing she's gonna do.
- 17:16Speaker 2: No, I'm not.
- 17:16Speaker 1: She's like, I'm good on that. Nigga, you know Christmas
- 17:18Speaker 1: is coming. What the hell you talking about?
- 17:21Speaker 2: All I want for Christmas is you.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Nigga, Christmas on the way. You know that check coming every...
- 17:26Speaker 1: Halloween over these next two months, I'm finna get cashed out.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Mariah Carey had a future in more movies. Mariah Carey's
- 17:31Speaker 1: about five weeks away. Yeah. Yeah, five weeks away. Mariah
- 17:34Speaker 1: Carey about to start counting bread.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Here's what I'll say, man.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Filmmaking is not appealing. We signed up for this, it's
- 17:47Speaker 3: the life we wanna be at, we just wanna be
- 17:48Speaker 3: at TV shows, but the waiting, the long hours, the
- 17:52Speaker 3: call time, when you already breaded up, you gotta love
- 17:57Speaker 3: this shit.
- 17:59Speaker 2: So for Mariah Carey, she's like, I don't need acting.
- 18:01Speaker 1: So I'm gonna give you this good.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Performance in Precious, and I'm going back.
- 18:06Speaker 1: To bring in... It's time! You know what I'm saying?
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's time to count these checks, nigga.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Because shooting is tough.
- 18:13Speaker 1: All I want for Christmas is you. Yeah. She wrote
- 18:21Speaker 1: a new Christmas song. Yeah. Who wrote a new Christmas
- 18:25Speaker 1: song since Mariah?
- 18:27Speaker 3: Beyonce has yet to give a performance that subtle and
- 18:30Speaker 3: that real.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Acting-wise? Yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Even in Cadillac Records, it's still kind of big and But.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Subtleness is not what makes Beyonce Beyonce.
- 18:41Speaker 2: In that role, because.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Etta James didn't seem like a subtle person. I can
- 18:44Speaker 3: only speak to what I know.
- 18:46Speaker 1: For sure.
- 18:47Speaker 3: But I haven't seen... I would like to see Beyonce
- 18:49Speaker 3: in a subtle role to see.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I think... That would be interesting. Yeah. Because I think.
- 18:58Speaker 1: The song she sings in Cadillac Records... To Adrian Brody's character.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 1: She's not playing that up. He is actually making the
- 19:09Speaker 1: moment bigger because he knows what the hell she's singing about. Right.
- 19:12Speaker 1: She's actually very subtle in that scene. Yeah. She's crying.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But you feel that is my favorite Beyonce acting moment.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Oh, thousand percent.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I said, oh, you are killing.
- 19:23Speaker 2: That's her best performance to date.
- 19:25Speaker 1: By far. Yeah. And that was... Not as subtle as Mariah,
- 19:31Speaker 1: but the subtlest that I've ever seen Beyonce.
- 19:34Speaker 2: For sure.
- 19:34Speaker 1: And the most believable, that one little tear. I said, nigga,
- 19:38Speaker 1: first of all, with that nose, you screwed around on Beyonce? Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 2: As out of James?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Either or. How the hell you mess that up? Ugly
- 19:47Speaker 1: dudes do it all.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Not to say that Adrian Brody.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Ugly, but ugly dudes be doing shit all the time.
- 19:54Speaker 1: This tale is old as time. Tale's old as time.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Ugly dudes be fucking up some beautiful women.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Okay, my favorite Sam Jackson movie.
- 20:04Speaker 2: It's tough, man.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Favorite is... I'm going to tell you why favorite's tough.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Because what I want to say is The Incredibles, but
- 20:11Speaker 1: I don't know if I consider that a Sam Jackson movie.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Man, take the voice work out of you.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Why can't we? In this, we got to include voice work. That's...
- 20:19Speaker 1: Voice work got to include. That is a movie. It is.
- 20:22Speaker 1: The Incredibles is incredible. And that might be my favorite
- 20:26Speaker 1: Sam Jackson movie. But no, I'm in Watch Out, man.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Why can't I have Incredibles?
- 20:29Speaker 2: Give me live action.
- 20:31Speaker 1: No! No! Because that's my favorite Pixar film. He's in there.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Where's my super suit? If you only give me one,
- 20:41Speaker 1: if I'm on the long plane to Australia. Kev, you
- 20:44Speaker 1: got one Sam Jackson movie. It's a 60-hour flight. What
- 20:46Speaker 1: you want? Man, give me Incredibles.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Incredibles is incredible.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Give me Incredibles, man. I might watch Incredibles twice on
- 20:53Speaker 1: the plane. That's good Sam Jackson work right there.
- 20:57Speaker 2: What's your favorite live action Sam Jackson?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Man, no. Come on, man. No.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Give us Sam Jackson's face actually on.
- 21:04Speaker 1: The screen, giving you all Sam Jackson.
- 21:05Speaker 2: You know what's funny?
- 21:06Speaker 1: I don't even want to say this because I just
- 21:08Speaker 1: recently watched it, so this is not my favorite. I'm
- 21:12Speaker 1: just giving this to you because you asked.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I really love the last kiss goodnight.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Oh, that's great.
- 21:21Speaker 1: That is a quintessentially long kiss. I told you it's new.
- 21:25Speaker 1: That was a quintessential Sam Jackson movie. He is so
- 21:30Speaker 1: funny in that movie. He's great in there. Great action.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Shane Black did a great job. It's a good movie.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Good chemistry with him and Geena Davis.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Him and Geena Davis get it. Him and his son
- 21:40Speaker 1: is good. Gumshoes as his wife. He knows he messed up.
- 21:43Speaker 1: He's like, ah, you know, I can't give you the bike.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I might go Long Kiss Goodnight. Okay. Even though it's new.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I said, yo, this is a brilliant movie.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And I like Shane Black movies. I didn't know. Me too.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I don't know how I missed Long Kiss Goodnight. Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But I'm going to say Long Kiss Goodnight. It's great.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's everything you love about Sam Jackson. Yeah. Hennessy, man.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Hennessy, dog.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Hennessy.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I like his wardrobe.
- 22:04Speaker 1: With hair. Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 3: He always going to give you a wig. He always
- 22:08Speaker 3: going to give... A Time to Kill is a fantastic movie.
- 22:10Speaker 3: It's just so heavy for me. that I can't just
- 22:13Speaker 3: re-watch it. I can re-watch East Bayou a lot. Way
- 22:17Speaker 3: more than I can of Time to Kill. But Time
- 22:18Speaker 3: to Kill is excellent.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Time to Kill is heavy plus intense. Plus you got
- 22:22Speaker 1: the racial element.
- 22:23Speaker 2: The way my body feels when I watch that movie.
- 22:26Speaker 1: It's like Rosewood. I can't re-watch Rosewood. I feel anger.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Man, Time to Kill does something to my whole body.
- 22:33Speaker 1: The black people in the judicial system Black people getting
- 22:36Speaker 1: murdered by whites, not rewatchable. Yeah, yeah. All right, here
- 22:39Speaker 1: we go. Now, the best movie that includes Samuel L. Jackson.
- 22:46Speaker 2: The best movie.
- 22:47Speaker 1: The best. He's been in a lot of good movies.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Now, when we say, when we pick a show, does
- 22:55Speaker 3: the role have to be of a certain size or
- 22:57Speaker 3: just him being in it?
- 22:58Speaker 1: This is how I want to quantify this. He just
- 23:02Speaker 1: got to be in it.
- 23:03Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Does not have to be a quintessential Sam Jackson movie.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He can be Nick Fury level in. Uh-huh. He can be,
- 23:11Speaker 1: even though he was in Django.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I wouldn't call that a Sam Jackson movie, but he's
- 23:16Speaker 1: in it.
- 23:16Speaker 2: He was in there tough.
- 23:17Speaker 1: But he's in there. Yeah. That to me is either
- 23:19Speaker 1: a Jamie movie, a Christoph Waltz movie, Quentin Tarantino movie.
- 23:25Speaker 2: That's a Quentin Tarantino movie.
- 23:27Speaker 1: It's a Quentin Tarantino movie more than it's anything, I think.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Damn near an ensemble piece.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's in there.
- 23:32Speaker 2: He's in there for sure.
- 23:33Speaker 1: But I mean, outside of like Anchorman cameo level. Okay.
- 23:36Speaker 1: It's got to be beyond a cameo. Like, I can't
- 23:38Speaker 1: call Anchorman a Will Smith best movie because he's just
- 23:41Speaker 1: in a scene. Yeah, literally. But like Viola Davis in Doubt,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I would count. Okay. Because she's in that movie. Okay.
- 23:48Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:51Speaker 1: What up, y'all? It's your boy Kevin on stage. I
- 23:52Speaker 1: want to take a quick break from the show to

- 24:56Speaker 1: At Polymarket, you can buy cheap and ride the momentum
- 24:58Speaker 1: back up. Polymarket is so confident that you'll never go

- 25:20Speaker 1: to the show. So what is the best movie that
- 25:23Speaker 1: features Samuel L. Jackson?
- 25:26Speaker 2: I got my answer.
- 25:27Speaker 1: All right, go ahead.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Goodfellas.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Oh, I can't argue with that.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Goodfellas is.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I low-key forgot he was in there. He in there.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I don't even.
- 25:35Speaker 2: He fucked up the.
- 25:36Speaker 3: He fucked up the operation with the Lufthansa ice, with
- 25:39Speaker 3: the van. He didn't take the van where he was
- 25:41Speaker 3: supposed to take it. And he had to pay the price.
- 25:43Speaker 1: That's the thing about the mob, man. You just... One
- 25:46Speaker 1: thing you mess up... One fuck up, you're done.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I respect the mob for that.
- 25:52Speaker 1: You got murdered for being late to this podcast?
- 25:54Speaker 2: I'll be done.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Tony Baker is late, y'all. Man, we got to shoot this.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'm going to show you a new movie, Tony.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah, take me in. Let me show you the new fridge.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Like, who wants to work a job where you mess
- 26:08Speaker 1: up and I got to die? Because imagine if I died,
- 26:12Speaker 1: remember I double booked us. Yeah. One double book. You're like, oh, Kev,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you booked gin and juice at the same time as
- 26:18Speaker 1: the Bar Brothers? Oh, my bad, Tony. No, no, no.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Listen, listen.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It was at the camp. For that? But that's what
- 26:27Speaker 1: happens in the new times. That's what happens.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Hey, listen, but that was a huge fuck up.
- 26:31Speaker 1: You would have died at Shannon Sharp. We said 3 o'clock.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I thought it was 3.30. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Shannon Sharp would have killed you. No, I told you
- 26:40Speaker 1: it was at 3.30. Why you.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Say I just like him, dog?
- 26:45Speaker 1: I said 3 o'clock. No, no, Shannon said 3. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. Yo,
- 26:49Speaker 1: skip you.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Right there on the brown leather couch.
- 26:53Speaker 1: No, no, because I would have tried. No, no, I'm
- 26:55Speaker 1: saying it was my fault. Oh, no, no, it wasn't
- 26:57Speaker 1: my fault. It wasn't my fault. Because now he turned
- 26:59Speaker 1: the gun to me. Okay, if you told Tony it
- 27:01Speaker 1: was three o'clock. Oh, shit. No, no, no, he said
- 27:04Speaker 1: he was on his way, said it.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he ain't on his way no more. Oh,
- 27:09Speaker 2: that's funny.
- 27:10Speaker 1: No, Goodfellas. Goodfellas.
- 27:11Speaker 2: It's got to be Goodfellas, man.
- 27:13Speaker 1: That's tough because he's been in a lot of good movies.
- 27:15Speaker 2: He's been in a lot of fantastic movies.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I'm curious, though.
- 27:17Speaker 2: But Goodfellas is one of the movies I'd never turn off.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm just curious. This is just a computer. The highest rated.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Sam Jackson movie? Goodfellas?
- 27:29Speaker 1: On IMDb?
- 27:30Speaker 2: It's probably going to be Goodfellas. It has to be.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I'm going to double check you, but I'm pretty sure
- 27:36Speaker 1: it is. It's Pulp Fiction.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Pulp Fiction.
- 27:42Speaker 1: 8.8.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Of course.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I forgot about Pulp Fiction. Let's see what the top
- 27:46Speaker 1: five is. Pulp Fiction is, on IMDb standards, the highest rated, 8.8.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Django Unchained is 8.5. You're hiring Goodfellas? Hold on. It
- 27:57Speaker 1: probably is not recognizing him as a Sam Jackson movie.
- 28:02Speaker 1: What's Goodfellas rated?
- 28:06Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Goodfellas is 8.7. So it still would've been second. Pulp
- 28:10Speaker 1: Fiction is ranked higher than Goodfellas. But it would've been second.
- 28:14Speaker 1: 8.8 for Pulp Fiction. Goodfellas, 8.7. Django Unchained, 8.5. Jurassic Park, 8.2.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And Avengers would be 8. Avengers and Incredibles are both 8.0. Ooh, okay, Sam.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So yeah, Goodfellas for me.
- 28:29Speaker 2: As well, okay.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the best movie featuring Sam Jackson, Goodfellas. Okay, least
- 28:35Speaker 1: favorite movie Sam Jackson movie.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Damn, man.
- 28:38Speaker 3: He's got so many movies that weren't good. He's got
- 28:44Speaker 3: so many movies because he's been in so many movies.
- 28:47Speaker 3: You destined to be in some stinkers, man. But I'll
- 28:52Speaker 3: say that you've seen.
- 28:54Speaker 2: That I've actually seen with my own eyeballs. I'm going
- 29:01Speaker 2: to go with.
- 29:04Speaker 3: These are movies that I've actually seen, so I'm not
- 29:06Speaker 3: going on no hearsay, no, oh, it's got a horrible rep.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I'm going to go with, it might have to be
- 29:18Speaker 3: the XXX sequel.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 2: What was it called? XXX State of the Union.
- 29:25Speaker 1: State of the Union.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I might have to go with that. Okay.
- 29:29Speaker 1: All right, I'm going to say this.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I might have to go with that. Ooh, hold on now.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That was pretty bad too.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I get what they were going for. Did not like it.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Sue me if you don't agree. Oh. Snakes on a plane.
- 29:44Speaker 2: I was like, oh, man.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Oh, OK. That's fair. I'm not. And I get it.
- 29:49Speaker 1: But I was like, man, nah.
- 29:50Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I was like, man, no. OK, y'all? No. I'm tired
- 29:56Speaker 1: of it. I don't like it. I love Sam. Oh, no.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I'm changing my answer.
- 30:01Speaker 1: All right. What you got?
- 30:03Speaker 2: Chirac.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Oh, snap.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I hate that fucking movie.
- 30:08Speaker 1: That's the Spike Lee one.
- 30:10Speaker 2: The Spike Lee joint by Chicago.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Because you know how they did our hometown.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Listen. I cannot stand that movie.
- 30:17Speaker 1: What is it about Chirac you don't like?
- 30:20Speaker 2: It just sucked.
- 30:20Speaker 3: It was a parody of what's going on in Chicago
- 30:24Speaker 3: that just didn't land. I didn't like the artistic direction
- 30:27Speaker 3: they chose to go with. I like nothing about it.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Nothing?
- 30:32Speaker 3: The only thing I liked about that movie was the
- 30:34Speaker 3: old girl's face. Tiana Paris.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Other than that. I didn't like it.
- 30:41Speaker 2: That movie sucked ass cheeks.
- 30:44Speaker 3: No disrespect to Nick Cannon because we played spades with him.
- 30:48Speaker 3: But fuck that movie. That movie angered me. That's why
- 30:52Speaker 3: I'm picking it. That movie pissed me off. Especially it
- 30:56Speaker 3: was a Spike Lee joint. It was about Chicago. It
- 30:59Speaker 3: was about the violence in Chicago. And this is the
- 31:02Speaker 3: route they taking?
- 31:03Speaker 1: Trash. Just remind me, we could do this for directors.
- 31:06Speaker 2: We can.
- 31:07Speaker 1: It doesn't even have to be only actors. We could
- 31:09Speaker 1: do this for Spike Lee. We need to remember that.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Spike Lee.
- 31:12Speaker 1: We need to remember that for Spike Lee. Okay. Because
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'm going to just tell you right now, we're on it.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Red Hook Summer, I'll sock Spike Lee out. Let me
- 31:21Speaker 1: tell you what makes Red Hook Summer even worse. I
- 31:23Speaker 1: ordered a Redbox movie for something else. Red Hook Summer
- 31:27Speaker 1: was in there.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I was like, oh my.
- 31:29Speaker 1: God, man. How did you even do that, Redbox?
- 31:31Speaker 2: I was like, okay, Spike Lee.
- 31:33Speaker 1: It's my boy from The Wire. Boy, when I turned
- 31:36Speaker 1: in Red Hook Summer, I was like, man, Spike Lee,
- 31:38Speaker 1: I'll kill your dad. I hope the Knicks never win
- 31:40Speaker 1: a championship. I was so mad. I watched that movie
- 31:43Speaker 1: at 3.13 on a Saturday afternoon. I almost threw my
- 31:45Speaker 1: TV out the window. Spike Lee got some stinkers.
- 31:47Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 31:48Speaker 1: I respect stinkers. I respect you trying. Because he was
- 31:52Speaker 1: a stinker, and then he'll come back with a great movie,
- 31:54Speaker 1: and he'd be like, man, forget the Red Hook summer, man.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I got inside, man. I don't know the times.
- 31:58Speaker 3: He had some stinker pie look for a second. He
- 32:01Speaker 3: had to get his feet together. I was like, what
- 32:03Speaker 3: the fuck are you doing? And then I was like, oh,
- 32:07Speaker 3: he got his feet together. He got his feet together.
- 32:10Speaker 1: All right. Next up, best chemistry in a movie. Who
- 32:19Speaker 1: did Samuel L. Jackson have the best chemistry with in
- 32:23Speaker 1: a movie? I already think I know what you're going
- 32:25Speaker 1: to talk about.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Man, he has such good chemistry in so many movies.
- 32:29Speaker 3: The Long Kiss Goodnight, Pulp Fiction, even Amos and Andrew,
- 32:33Speaker 3: even Loaded Weapon. Oh, Die Hard, him and Bruce Willis.
- 32:37Speaker 1: That's what I thought you was going to say. Die
- 32:39Speaker 1: Hard with Bruce Willis was the first thing I thought.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Because it's an action tear. Let me tell you something, man.
- 32:46Speaker 3: He has such good chemistry with the vast majority.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Soul Man with Bernie Mac? Soul Man. And they were
- 32:53Speaker 1: at odds.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Him and Bernie Mac have fantastic chemistry.
- 32:56Speaker 1: At odds. Which is very different from him and John Travolta,
- 33:00Speaker 1: who are on the same team. Right. He's a great
- 33:03Speaker 1: scene partner. Damn, man. Chemistry is tough.
- 33:06Speaker 3: This is hard because he's had great chemistry with so
- 33:11Speaker 3: many different people.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Ugh.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Die Hard with a Vengeance is up there.
- 33:16Speaker 1: It's up there, man.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Pulp Fiction is up there. Even when he's diabolically trash.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Like in Django Unchained, he had good chemistry with Leo.
- 33:31Speaker 1: The thing that I hate, love about that movie is
- 33:34Speaker 1: when Leo died, I felt like Sam Jackson was grieving
- 33:38Speaker 1: him for real. Steven was hurt. I'm talking about hurt
- 33:44Speaker 1: more than a black person's death could ever do.
- 33:47Speaker 2: He was done.
- 33:47Speaker 1: The way he was.
- 33:50Speaker 3: He was done. That was one of the most diabolical
- 33:54Speaker 3: villains ever set to film. I don't know how he
- 33:56Speaker 3: didn't get an Oscar nomination or win for that performance,
- 33:59Speaker 3: but he is one of If I create a list
- 34:02Speaker 3: of the all time villains, Steven's black ass.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Is on that list. And for us as black people.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It's personal.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And maybe that's why he didn't get nominated. White people
- 34:12Speaker 1: can't feel that the way we can. And I bet you,
- 34:15Speaker 1: here's the thing though. If he would have won for that.
- 34:19Speaker 1: We got to be the slaves.
- 34:20Speaker 4: We always got to be the drugs. We always got
- 34:23Speaker 4: to be working for the white man. You got to
- 34:25Speaker 4: do the white man. You got to do the white man.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Going to get the Oscars. You got to drink with
- 34:30Speaker 4: the white man. We always got to be a slave man.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Everybody got to slave it up for the white man.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Every time.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Every time.
- 34:39Speaker 2: So if he would have won for that, of course
- 34:41Speaker 2: he would have won for that.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Slaves, hoes, and drug dealers. For the white man.
- 34:47Speaker 2: But they overlooking the pure Hillary.
- 34:50Speaker 1: The white man.
- 34:51Speaker 2: The white man.
- 34:53Speaker 1: The white man.
- 34:55Speaker 2: But from a performance standpoint, he killed it.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah. He did.
- 35:01Speaker 3: So I'm going to go chemistry wise. I'm going to
- 35:06Speaker 3: just throw something out there. I'm going to go with
- 35:07Speaker 3: Die Hard with a Vengeance.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Because just the levels of. the character dynamics that they
- 35:16Speaker 3: had within that movie. And at first, he feeling sorry
- 35:19Speaker 3: for him, so he trying to help him out.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And he like, man, you a.
- 35:21Speaker 3: White dude out here in Harlem with a racist sign
- 35:24Speaker 3: on you, so there's hostility there. And then you gotta
- 35:26Speaker 3: watch them grow into a true partnership. And see that
- 35:30Speaker 3: whole dynamic shift as the movie.
- 35:32Speaker 1: By the time they were running together, we were like,
- 35:34Speaker 1: all right, y'all. It works.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So they didn't get there easy.
- 35:38Speaker 1: No. So it's earned. Yeah, it was earned. I'm going
- 35:42Speaker 1: Pulp Fiction. Okay. John Travolta and Sam Jackson, man. I
- 35:46Speaker 1: wanted for so long, give me a spinoff.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Of just their adventures.
- 35:50Speaker 2: To this day, I want it.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You can make five movies of the adventures of Jules and-
- 35:57Speaker 1: Jules and Vincent. Vincent. Y'all was supposed to say, they
- 35:59Speaker 1: ain't Vinny.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Vincent Vega.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Jules and Vincent Vega give me the spinoff. That's my
- 36:06Speaker 1: favorite storyline of the Pulp Fiction. Oh, for sure. That
- 36:10Speaker 1: is Pulp Fiction to me. Uma Thurman coming in, the wolf, Marvin.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Every time they were on.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Even when it was just Vincent and Uma, it wasn't
- 36:22Speaker 2: the same.
- 36:23Speaker 1: No. And Uma was.
- 36:25Speaker 3: She was great in that movie. She was good in
- 36:26Speaker 3: that movie, but I was still just like, all right, y'all,
- 36:28Speaker 3: hurry up. Let's get back to Jules and Vince. Because
- 36:32Speaker 3: even when Jules was on there without Vincent, Jules still
- 36:36Speaker 3: had me captivated. Jules is my favorite character in Pulp Fiction.
- 36:40Speaker 1: By far. Jules is Pulp Fiction to me. I don't
- 36:44Speaker 1: care about Bruce Willis and the boxing and Ving Rhames
- 36:47Speaker 1: and Marcellus.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Get him out.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Jules, I don't care about Bunny and Tim Rock.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Jules was the reason for the season, man.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Get him out.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Every time he was on the screen, it elevated the picture.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Jules, time out, man. I need some water.
- 37:01Speaker 2: All right. Handle that. Just remember who never left y'all, man.
- 37:04Speaker 2: It's me. It's always me, y'all.
- 37:07Speaker 1: All right. Next up. This is the role that Sam
- 37:16Speaker 1: Jackson has yet to play that you would like to see. Now,
- 37:21Speaker 1: this is tough because Sam Jackson has made some movies.
- 37:27Speaker 1: But you're a casting director. You're Sam Jackson's agent. Sam
- 37:30Speaker 1: Jackson said, look, man, give me something that I ain't
- 37:34Speaker 1: done before. What you got for me?
- 37:38Speaker 2: No, he.
- 37:40Speaker 2: He's been a Jedi.
- 37:43Speaker 1: He's been a Jedi. Purple Saber.
- 37:45Speaker 2: He's been in the comic book universe. No powers, but
- 37:49Speaker 2: I mean, you know.
- 37:50Speaker 1: You want to see him in a rom-com? Have you
- 37:54Speaker 1: been in a rom-com?
- 37:56Speaker 2: I don't think he's been in the pure romantic comedy.
- 37:59Speaker 1: I don't think he has. Long Kiss Goodnight, they were
- 38:02Speaker 1: not romantically involved.
- 38:03Speaker 5: No.
- 38:03Speaker 1: She's just a woman. Has he done the pure family thing?
- 38:11Speaker 1: Do you want to see that? No, I don't want
- 38:13Speaker 1: to see that, though. You don't want to see it?
- 38:14Speaker 2: I don't even want to see the rom-com, either.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Well, you just don't like rom-coms.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You know what I want to see Sam Jackson as?
- 38:21Speaker 2: The monster in a horror franchise.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Like Freddy Krueger?
- 38:25Speaker 2: Like Candyman, Freddy Krueger, Jason.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Whatever that looks like. Him being the.
- 38:34Speaker 1: You don't like him as Mr.
- 38:35Speaker 4: Glass?
- 38:36Speaker 3: He's a great villain in that, but he's not like
- 38:38Speaker 3: a monster monster. No, he's... He's a mastermind villain.
- 38:42Speaker 1: He's actually younger than the lady who played his mom.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'm talking about something like Candyman.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Candyman.
- 38:47Speaker 3: He just shows up and he's, he was kind of
- 38:50Speaker 3: a monster in the movie Mrs. Peregrine's School of something.
- 38:59Speaker 3: What's the name of that damn movie?
- 39:01Speaker 1: I don't even know this song.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a Tim Burton movie. Mrs.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Peregrine's. Who the hell's Mrs. Peregrine's?
- 39:10Speaker 2: What's the name of that joint?
- 39:13Speaker 3: Because he's done so much as an actor that it's
- 39:16Speaker 3: hard to find stuff that he really hasn't done.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I would watch a horror film with him as a
- 39:22Speaker 1: monster while you look that up.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'd tap in.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Like him in a Candyman type movie? Candyman.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Terrified me. Rest in peace to.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Sean. Tony Todd? Tony Todd. Yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I want to see him in a comedy a la
- 39:43Speaker 1: It's Complicated, Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep. I want to
- 39:47Speaker 1: see him in a rom-com. Older dating joint. Yes. Mrs.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Never heard of it. Yeah. It was good. Never heard
- 39:59Speaker 1: of it. I enjoyed it. I want to see him
- 40:00Speaker 1: in a rom-com a la, I can't believe the lady
- 40:03Speaker 1: who writes those movies. It's complicated writer. What's her, Nancy Meyers?
- 40:10Speaker 2: I think it is Nancy Meyers.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Nancy Meyers? I want to see him in a Nancy
- 40:14Speaker 1: Meyers movie. Straight comedy. And directed by Nancy Meyers. Shout
- 40:20Speaker 1: out Nancy Meyers.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Nancy Meyers is out here.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I love a rom-com. Big fan of a rom-com.
- 40:25Speaker 2: I love it when I like it. What's your top
- 40:28Speaker 2: five rom-coms? Off the top of my head?
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Coming to America.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Would you consider that a rom-com?
- 40:34Speaker 2: Yeah. The whole point is the romance. It drives the
- 40:38Speaker 2: whole story.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I want to find real love.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You're right.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that drives the whole story.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Okay, you are right.
- 40:45Speaker 2: So, Coming to America, When Harry Met Sally.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Oh, me and Alyssa just watched that. That is a
- 40:52Speaker 1: great rom-com.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I love When Harry Met Sally. I really enjoy it.
- 40:58Speaker 2: There's something about Mary as a romantic comedy.
- 41:00Speaker 4: It is.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I love that movie. They're all in a romantic comedy
- 41:04Speaker 1: with Mary.
- 41:05Speaker 2: For sure.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Including Brett Favre and the dude with the hives. And
- 41:12Speaker 1: Ben Stiller. Matt Dillon, the dude to hide. And Matt Dillon.
- 41:15Speaker 2: The fake crippled dude. Everybody was in.
- 41:18Speaker 1: And Brett Favre. And Brett Favre. Before we knew he
- 41:20Speaker 1: stole that money from people in Mississippi.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Favre.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Brett Favre, don't forget. Now I hate you when that
- 41:27Speaker 1: movie comes on.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Brett Favre.
- 41:30Speaker 3: So what I said, I said, coming to America, when
- 41:35Speaker 3: Harry met Sally, there's something about Mary.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I really enjoyed....
- 41:41Speaker 2: Man, I liked Pretty in Pink back in the day, man.
- 41:43Speaker 1: I like Pretty in Pink.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I enjoyed Pretty in Pink back in the day. I
- 41:52Speaker 2: really enjoyed Hitch.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Hitch is great. It's just a great rom-com. Yeah. Because
- 41:57Speaker 1: it ain't the rom-com you think it's going to be.
- 41:59Speaker 2: No.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I thought it was Kevin James and Allegra Cole, I believe.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I can't remember that actress' name. Right. But whoever Kevin James.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Object of Affection was in that. Yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 1: But it's Will Smith and Eva Longoria. Eva Mendez?
- 42:13Speaker 2: Eva Mendez.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Eva Mendez. Eva Mendez. Okay, that's fair.
- 42:16Speaker 3: I also enjoyed The Wedding Singer. I also enjoyed 50
- 42:19Speaker 3: First Dates.
- 42:20Speaker 1: So you like some rom-coms. Yeah. I'm just... If you
- 42:23Speaker 1: never saw a rom-com again, you wouldn't be tripping.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't be tripping.
- 42:27Speaker 3: It has to have a different, for me with the rom-com,
- 42:31Speaker 3: it has to have a different hook than the usual.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Two people falling in love.
- 42:35Speaker 1: What do you think about Date Night?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Date Night was a good time because it had action
- 42:41Speaker 2: in there as well.
- 42:41Speaker 1: It's a rom-com though.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was like an action element.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great.
- 42:45Speaker 2: It wasn't just pure.
- 42:45Speaker 1: And it was like one of my favorite movie tropes
- 42:48Speaker 1: is wrong guy. Yeah. No time.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Pretty Woman is in my top five.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Okay.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Pretty Woman is excellent.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Big mistake.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Huge. Yeah. I got to throw Pretty Woman in there
- 43:01Speaker 2: for the whole time.
- 43:02Speaker 1: What about, do you consider 40-Year-Old Virgin a rom-com?
- 43:11Speaker 3: I guess it can be, but it's not packaged that way.
- 43:15Speaker 1: No. It's kind of like a, more packaged like a
- 43:18Speaker 1: frat guy.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more like a, yo, man, we got to
- 43:21Speaker 2: get you laid.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:23Speaker 3: It's more like we got to get you laid, man.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Come on, you 40-year-old virgin that's socially.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Awkward, man.
- 43:28Speaker 2: We got to get you out of this.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Got to get you out of this.
- 43:30Speaker 3: It's a little bit different than how to lose a
- 43:32Speaker 3: guy in 10 days type shit.
- 43:34Speaker 1: For sure. All right. The singular best Samuel L. Jackson
- 43:39Speaker 1: scene in his film career. One scene. Introducing aliens to
- 43:47Speaker 1: Sam Jackson.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Hey, man.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Bleep, blorp, bleep.
- 43:50Speaker 2: You got to give them the... We back to Pulp
- 43:53Speaker 2: Fiction again.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Jewels. The Bible. What about the courtroom scene of.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yes, they deserve to die and I hope they burn
- 44:04Speaker 2: in hell.
- 44:05Speaker 1: That to me is so Sam Jackson.
- 44:08Speaker 2: That gets you down to the bone marrow.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Because you know what him saying that means.
- 44:13Speaker 2: But you know my name is the Lord. As I
- 44:17Speaker 2: rain down.
- 44:19Speaker 1: It got, man, a time to kill though tone.
- 44:24Speaker 3: I got to go with Pulp Fiction though because it's longer.
- 44:28Speaker 3: When you think about a time to kill, we can
- 44:30Speaker 3: quote that.
- 44:31Speaker 1: For sure.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Or what else?
- 44:34Speaker 3: It's just a scene.
- 44:35Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Oh, you mean just that line.
- 44:37Speaker 2: What else within the scene?
- 44:39Speaker 1: Oh, I see what you're saying.
- 44:40Speaker 3: He was doing more in Pulp Fiction in that moment.
- 44:45Speaker 1: So you're showing the alien's Jules, and I will rain down.
- 44:49Speaker 1: For me, I'm going to agree with you, and I'm
- 44:51Speaker 1: going to tell you why. Not only is it the
- 44:52Speaker 1: most Sam Jackson thing, it also is the minting of
- 44:56Speaker 1: Samuel L. Jackson. Yeah. From that point forward, it's Sam
- 45:00Speaker 1: Jackson for the rest of his life. Yeah, for sure.
- 45:03Speaker 1: All the rehab, all the bit roles, drugs, Gator. Yeah.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Once he turned around with that gun, mother, I'm going
- 45:12Speaker 1: to be in a hundred movies.
- 45:13Speaker 2: He added the L to his name, Sky was the name. L.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Jules got an L. Although black people do not say
- 45:22Speaker 1: Samuel L. They say Samuel L. Jackson. It's Samuel L. Jackson.
- 45:29Speaker 1: You know what?
- 45:29Speaker 2: I never even thought of that.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Samuel L.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Jackson.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Black people say Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I never even thought about that.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So we never even gave his middle name. We don't
- 45:41Speaker 1: say the second L in the black community because why?
- 45:43Speaker 2: So we have never said his L.
- 45:45Speaker 4: No.
- 45:46Speaker 1: We say Samuel L. We take Samuel. We take the
- 45:51Speaker 1: L out of Samuel. We put that in the middle L.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Then we go Jackson.
- 45:55Speaker 2: I've never even thought about that.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Because you black. We have a community have decided it's
- 46:02Speaker 1: Samuel L.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Jackson. Jackson.
- 46:05Speaker 1: And he ain't stopped her.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Samuel L.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Jackson has rarely been said like that.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Because now Samuel L. Jackson's like, all.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Right, why are you saying all that?
- 46:14Speaker 1: We're doubling up on the L. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Why are you doing all that L? Never even thought
- 46:18Speaker 2: about this.
- 46:19Speaker 1: We're not doing all that, man. Say Samuel.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Because he was Sam Jackson before Pulp Fiction.
- 46:24Speaker 1: He was big Sam Jackson. Samuel L. Jackson. Samuel L.
- 46:29Speaker 2: But I got to go with Pulp Fiction, man.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 46:32Speaker 2: All right.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Huh, Samuel L.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Jackson. How black?
- 46:41Speaker 1: Sorry, y'all, I gotta take notes for the clips. I
- 46:43Speaker 1: got to.
- 46:45Speaker 5: All right.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Underrated, overrated.
- 46:52Speaker 5: Okay, so overrated. This is a lot, but I like- Man,
- 47:00Speaker 5: I'm having a great time. To call it a deep dive,
- 47:02Speaker 5: you gotta go deep.
- 47:04Speaker 1: It can't be a little. It can't go just a tip.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I'm having a great time.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Full shaft.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I'll tell you something right here, right now.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Overrated movie. I'm going to tell y'all like this, man.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I don't care how y'all feel about it.
- 47:19Speaker 1: What is it, Toe?
- 47:20Speaker 2: Y'all can suck my ass a little bit on this.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Why would we do that?
- 47:27Speaker 2: Because, listen. But I think....
- 47:35Speaker 3: I think, although I think it's a good movie, I
- 47:40Speaker 3: think it's a tad bit overrated because y'all overrate Quentin
- 47:44Speaker 3: Tarantino a lot. But I think Jackie Brown is a
- 47:48Speaker 3: tad bit overrated.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Jackie Brown's not my favorite Quentin Tarantino movie.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I think it's overrated.
- 48:00Speaker 1: It's not my favorite.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Although Sam Jackson is really good in that movie. He's
- 48:05Speaker 2: great in that movie, actually.
- 48:06Speaker 3: But I think the film as a whole is good, though.
- 48:10Speaker 1: It's good.
- 48:10Speaker 2: I don't want to say it's not good.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Overrated means it's just overrated. Yeah, it's just overrated. Not good.
- 48:15Speaker 2: That's how I feel.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Let me think. Because that's a movie that's held in
- 48:25Speaker 2: high regard.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And you like that movie.
- 48:29Speaker 5: Huh?
- 48:30Speaker 1: You like that movie.
- 48:30Speaker 2: I do like it, though. But I feel like y'all
- 48:32Speaker 2: be gassing it up a little.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I don't even have one.
- 48:36Speaker 2: It's fine. Okay.
- 48:37Speaker 1: I'm going to go with you. All right. Underrated, though?
- 48:40Speaker 1: Soul Men.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Soul Men, though. Where do we begin?
- 48:42Speaker 1: Soul Men.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Where do we begin?
- 48:45Speaker 1: I feel like not enough people have seen Soul Men,
- 48:50Speaker 1: but the people who have seen Soul Men be like, yo,
- 48:52Speaker 1: Soul Men was amazing.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Soul Men is my answer.
- 48:56Speaker 1: That's how.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Soul Man is his most underrated movie, man.
- 49:03Speaker 1: He is so funny and another good chemistry. Great chemistry
- 49:08Speaker 1: with Bernie Mac. Making rest in piss. Man. Why was
- 49:10Speaker 1: Bernie Mac? Get the dog under the bed.
- 49:14Speaker 3: You ain't got no dog under the bed.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Soul Man.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Rob Markman, Jr.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I just love Soul Man. Rob Markman, Jr.
- 49:20Speaker 3: I don't know why that movie did so little at
- 49:24Speaker 3: the box office.
- 49:24Speaker 2: I can't understand it.
- 49:26Speaker 3: I'm like, how did that movie not make money at
- 49:29Speaker 3: the box office?
- 49:31Speaker 2: The shit was hilarious, man. They were a great duo.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Sam Jackson and Bernie Mac. How is this movie just
- 49:38Speaker 2: making what it made?
- 49:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:40Speaker 3: And I'm just like, yo, what? And then when people
- 49:43Speaker 3: have said they've seen it, they're like, yo, man, Soul Man.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Nobody I've ever talked to who has seen Soul Man
- 49:48Speaker 1: doesn't like Soul Man.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:50Speaker 1: You either seen it and love it, or you ain't
- 49:53Speaker 1: seen it.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Why y'all didn't take your black asses to the movie theater?
- 49:56Speaker 2: We just had a lot going on.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Nah, man, 2008, it made $ 12 million. Explain yourself.
- 49:59Speaker 2: On a budget of what? Budgeted $ 40 million.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Sheesh.
- 50:06Speaker 2: That movie took a Samuel L. at the box office.
- 50:13Speaker 1: That was a great callback, though.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Man, it took an L, dog.
- 50:17Speaker 1: $ 12 million?
- 50:19Speaker 2: Where was y'all at?
- 50:19Speaker 1: That was the L in Samuel L.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Why y'all didn't pull up for that movie? $ 5 million,
- 50:26Speaker 2: opening weekend. Where was y'all at?
- 50:28Speaker 1: Where were you? Was that after Bernie passed? Somebody said
- 50:33Speaker 1: that was after Bernie passed.
- 50:35Speaker 2: He passed in 2010, I thought.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 50:40Speaker 2: When did Bernie pass? Did he pass that early?
- 50:42Speaker 1: Let me check it up. I'm looking it up, looking
- 50:44Speaker 1: it up, looking it up. We lost Bernie a long
- 50:47Speaker 1: time ago. We lost Bernie a minute ago. I was
- 50:48Speaker 1: just looking that up a while ago. I didn't realize
- 50:50Speaker 1: it had been gone that long.
- 50:52Speaker 2: When did he pass?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Bernie Mac passed in 2008. 2008. August 9th, 2008.
- 50:56Speaker 3: So the movie came out in November. Why y'all didn't
- 51:00Speaker 3: pull up for Bernie's last hoorah?
- 51:02Speaker 1: Hey, man, we supposed to pull up for the post.
- 51:05Speaker 2: That should have boosted ticket sales.
- 51:09Speaker 1: That came out three months later. August, September, October, November.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Y'all don't love Bernie Mac like y'all claim. Y'all don't.
- 51:21Speaker 2: That should have been the send-off. And like me and
- 51:23Speaker 2: you were talking about privately.
- 51:25Speaker 3: I had my fastest ticket sales after Saran Pass.
- 51:30Speaker 1: And some of your highest viewed. Tony Baker's first joked
- 51:33Speaker 1: after his son passed, million views. See?
- 51:36Speaker 3: When my heart has been ripped out and torn to shreds,
- 51:39Speaker 3: that's when y'all buying tickets. That's when y'all clicking on
- 51:42Speaker 3: the clicks. When I'm having a good time being silly, man,
- 51:45Speaker 3: watch out, Tony.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Man, I'm telling you, Tony Baker, consolidation pumps. They're consolation pumps.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Tony Baker's sad. Sold out, sold out, sold out, sold out.
- 51:55Speaker 3: That's as fast as my tickets were selling. Now when
- 51:57Speaker 3: I sell out, it'd be a slow sell out. I mean,
- 52:00Speaker 3: sell out is a sell out.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Sell out's a sell out.
- 52:02Speaker 2: But y'all be like, yeah, I'm taking it.
- 52:04Speaker 1: After my Grease Sucks tour is over, it's back to... Tupelo, Mississippi, man.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Tonight only. 700 tickets left, y'all. Down to the wire.
- 52:14Speaker 1: That's why I'm enjoying all these sellouts. I know it's
- 52:16Speaker 1: going to be back to breaking rocks. Kev on stage, man. Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Why can't y'all act fast when we're having a good time?
- 52:27Speaker 1: When the people are alive. We don't want to have
- 52:30Speaker 1: to talk about our dead relatives to sell tickets.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Man, dog.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Just come when we want to make you laugh. Please. Man.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Buy them tickets like they hot. But I'm just like, hey, y'all.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Buy the tickets then. I don't want to be like, listen, y'all.
- 52:49Speaker 2: I'm going to be talking about losing my son. Got
- 52:53Speaker 2: to get them tickets, man. I bought seven tickets, son.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I ain't going to hold you to them.
- 52:56Speaker 1: When you go on the grief tour and you talk
- 52:58Speaker 1: about something, I'm.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Going to be like, see?
- 53:02Speaker 1: Come on, man. Buy them tickets. Hey, yo.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Why are you turning the crowd to the clown?
- 53:08Speaker 3: You ever notice grasshoppers be looking sideways?
- 53:11Speaker 2: It's like they have side eyes. Buy tickets then.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Please.
- 53:20Speaker 3: Hey, men and women are different, man. Women have their
- 53:23Speaker 3: toes out. Buy tickets then.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Fast.
- 53:30Speaker 1: My son passed. Oh, my God. He's a 4-4-2-6-7-7-6-8-1-3-4. Get
- 53:37Speaker 1: the credit card. He talking about Saran, y'all.
- 53:40Speaker 3: Show sold out before I even announced it was in
- 53:43Speaker 3: that city.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Hey, y'all, I'm thinking about sold out, sold out, sold out,
- 53:46Speaker 1: sold out, sold out. I'm there, I'm there. I didn't
- 53:49Speaker 1: say the city. I'm sold out, sold out, sold out,
- 53:50Speaker 1: sold out.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Y'all think I ain't notice that.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Sold out, sold out, sold out.
- 53:55Speaker 2: When Saran passed, boy, y'all bought the tickets fast.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, buy tickets when we're happy.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Please.
- 54:03Speaker 5: Please.
- 54:04Speaker 1: The thing about black churches, it be long, y'all.
- 54:11Speaker 3: You ever notice a box of cereal never starts at
- 54:14Speaker 3: the top?
- 54:14Speaker 1: Nothing. Two tickets sold.
- 54:23Speaker 4: Y'all don't want none of the silliness, man.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Sick of it.
- 54:35Speaker 1: All right. Okay. What is the movie where Samuel L.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Jackson should have won an Oscar?
- 54:48Speaker 3: Man, I hate to keep coming back to the same
- 54:50Speaker 3: goddamn movie.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Slave, slave, slave.
- 54:53Speaker 2: No, Pulp Fiction.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Oh, yeah?
- 54:56Speaker 2: He was nominated for that. And I feel like he
- 54:58Speaker 2: should have won that.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Do you remember who won that year?
- 55:02Speaker 3: That was 94 Supporting Actor. No, there wasn't Tommy Lee
- 55:09Speaker 3: Jones that beat him.
- 55:09Speaker 2: 1994?
- 55:10Speaker 1: Yeah, 94 Oscar winners. It was Tommy Lee Jones.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Oh, looking for 95.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Oh, 95.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Next year.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Martin Landau? For Ed Wood? The hell is that?
- 55:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he should have won.
- 55:29Speaker 1: What is that?
- 55:30Speaker 2: Ed Wood, it's a Tim Burton movie.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Ed Wood is a good movie, but come on. That
- 55:34Speaker 3: was another one of those, we owe you for a
- 55:36Speaker 3: long career.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Oh.
- 55:37Speaker 3: He was good in that movie, but come on, man.
- 55:39Speaker 3: If he went up against Sam Jackson and won, that's ridiculous.
- 55:42Speaker 1: So the rest, it was Martin Landau, Ed Wood, Sam Jackson,
- 55:46Speaker 1: Pulp Fiction, Gary Sinise, Lieutenant Dan, Forrest Gump.
- 55:50Speaker 2: That would have been a good win.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Fair. Chaz Palminteri for Bullets Over Broadway and Paul Schofield
- 55:55Speaker 1: for Quiz Show.
- 55:58Speaker 2: I don't even know what that is. Critics love that shit.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I'm watching those. Let them watch out. Sometimes the critics
- 56:03Speaker 1: be on bullshit. They all come together. I think that's
- 56:06Speaker 1: what it is. They all be in the critics' group
- 56:08Speaker 1: chat like, man, we like this, huh, y'all?
- 56:09Speaker 2: Quiz show, y'all. The regular audience is like, man, fuck
- 56:12Speaker 2: this movie, man. How about that?
- 56:14Speaker 1: I feel like that happens to the Oscars all the time,
- 56:16Speaker 1: especially for nominated for Best Picture. Maybe movies only y'all
- 56:19Speaker 1: even knew about. Oh, man, them Best Picture nominees. This
- 56:21Speaker 1: movie called Och Blach out of Germany. Man, watch out.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Who haven't heard of Och Blach? It's about a German
- 56:29Speaker 1: sausage man.
- 56:30Speaker 2: And it's in black and white. Oh, when it's in
- 56:33Speaker 2: black and white, they bust nuts as critics. Oh, it's
- 56:37Speaker 2: black and white.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Oh, it's black and white. It's genius. It's genius.
- 56:45Speaker 3: You put that black and white on the movie, the
- 56:47Speaker 3: critics immediately bust nuts. Oh, the black and white just
- 56:52Speaker 3: adds so much. Shut the hell up. Shit is boring
- 56:56Speaker 3: to look at, man. Cut the color on.
- 56:59Speaker 1: It's either that or Super Blue. Oh, the Manchester by
- 57:02Speaker 1: the Sea color grade, man. That movie be eating your soul.
- 57:06Speaker 2: That movie is your.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Art privacy. I'll never forgive you, Casey Affleck! I'm going
- 57:17Speaker 1: to go Django Unchained.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 57:19Speaker 1: That's fair. If that's what the whites want anyway, if
- 57:22Speaker 1: that's all we're going to win for, then why we
- 57:24Speaker 1: ain't winning when we got that? He wasn't even nominated, man.
- 57:27Speaker 1: What year was that?
- 57:30Speaker 2: 2007, 8?
- 57:31Speaker 1: So who was nominated? He would have been supporting, right? Yeah.
- 57:34Speaker 1: For Best Supporting Actor 2008 or 9? I can't remember
- 57:37Speaker 1: if it was 2008 or.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I want to say seven or eight when it came out.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Hold on, I got you.
- 57:46Speaker 1: All right, man. Cue it up. I got you. I
- 57:48Speaker 1: got you. It can't be nine. It's Heath Ledger one. Oh, yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 2: It would nobody be nine.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Oh, Django Unchained, 2012. I was way out. What the
- 57:56Speaker 3: hell are you talking about, man? I was way out
- 57:58Speaker 3: of here, man.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Watch out, man.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Don't listen to me.
- 58:02Speaker 1: Don't listen to me, man. 2013, Christoph Waltz was nominated
- 58:06Speaker 1: for Django Unchained. He won. And he won. Alan motherfucking Harkin! Really? Yeah! Yes!
- 58:13Speaker 1: For what? For Argo! Okay. He got Eddie Murphy's Oscar
- 58:17Speaker 1: at home. Robert De Niro for Silver Linings Playbook, which
- 58:21Speaker 1: I love that movie. That performance is not better than
- 58:24Speaker 1: Sam Jackson. Tommy Lee Jones in Lincoln and Philip Seymour
- 58:28Speaker 1: Hoffman in The Master.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Man.
- 58:31Speaker 1: I didn't even see The Master.
- 58:33Speaker 2: They could take... Who was that first nominee you said?
- 58:36Speaker 1: Christoph Waltz, who won. He did win. But he... He...
- 58:41Speaker 1: He was good in that. I gave him. But the
- 58:45Speaker 1: way they nominated two people for Everything Everywhere all at once,
- 58:48Speaker 1: they could have nominated.
- 58:49Speaker 2: They could have nominated Sam Jackson. They could have took
- 58:51Speaker 2: somebody else out of there.
- 58:52Speaker 1: They could have got Robert De Niro out of there.
- 58:53Speaker 2: I haven't seen all those silver linings.
- 58:56Speaker 1: I saw it. It ain't Oscar worthy. Okay. And I
- 58:58Speaker 1: love that movie. I really enjoy that movie. But not
- 59:01Speaker 1: over Sam Jackson's performance. I didn't even know Robert.
- 59:03Speaker 2: De Niro was nominated for that until this very moment.
- 59:05Speaker 1: You can't get him out. Who gives a damn about
- 59:09Speaker 1: that performance?
- 59:10Speaker 2: All right.
- 59:12Speaker 1: The Paycheck movie. We're probably going to go back. This
- 59:15Speaker 1: is the movie that got this actor paid. If this
- 59:19Speaker 1: comes on, I'm watching it. It's Pulp Fiction.
- 59:23Speaker 2: For the Paycheck movie?
- 59:24Speaker 1: That's the movie that got Sam Jackson paid as an actor.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Oh, so this one, okay.
- 59:30Speaker 1: He made the most. This is the movie that said, oh,
- 59:33Speaker 1: we got to pay. This is the movie that bumped
- 59:34Speaker 1: up his salary. Bumped up your salary, kicked off your salary.
- 59:38Speaker 1: They're paying you because you're delivering it. It's got to
- 59:40Speaker 1: be true. Pulp Fiction once again. He's still getting paid today.
- 59:43Speaker 2: For sure.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Because of Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction, for sure. All right.
- 59:46Speaker 1: The best director for this actor. Who is the best
- 59:50Speaker 1: director for Samuel L. Jackson?
- 59:52Speaker 2: Quentin Tarantino. We give him so much. I mean, you
- 59:56Speaker 2: know what I'm saying?
- 59:57Speaker 1: He done so good.
- 59:58Speaker 3: Quentin Tarantino, as many criticisms as I have for him,
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: he is an actor's director.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: For sure.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: He can resurrect your career. He can make your career.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: He is one of those directors, and it's rare, that
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: can really just... What about Spike Lee? Spike Lee can
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Not even for Sam. That's the best director for him. Well,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: we got Jungle Fever. You got Jungle Fever. You got-
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Small part in School Days. Shy Rack.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: He's in Mo' Better Blues, small part.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Mo' Better Blues.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: But Shy Rack, I hate it.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Have you hated any Quentin Tarantino movies, Sam? He's only
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: done two, right? Nah.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: He did Pulp Fiction. He did Hateful Eight.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: He did Jackie Brown. Oh, he's done four.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in Kill Bill. He's in Django Unchained.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I don't remember him in Kill Bill. What did you
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: do in Kill Bill?
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: He was a piano player at the wedding.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: In one or two?
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: Whatever scene they had to where you see the bride
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: getting married and they show up to kill everybody, he's
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: the piano man.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Got to be one then. Because I feel like they
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: focused on the wedding in one. Yeah. I feel like
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: after one, they're like, you either get it or you don't.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: They're not going back. But I don't remember. They blur
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: to me.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: And then he's credited for Inglourious Basterds as well on IMDb.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: I don't remember. I don't remember him in there though. Bastards.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: But I feel like if you take Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown-
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Hateful Eight, Django Unchained.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: You're getting prime.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Prime real estate. No misses.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Sam Jackson real estate. No misses. Just on those.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: He's worked with John Singleton for Shaft.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: He's worked with John McTiernan for Die Hard with a Vengeance.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: He's worked with Rennie Harlan for Long Kiss Goodnight. He's
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: worked with Steven Spielberg for Jurassic Park.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. He's worked with....
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: He's worked with, wait, who directed Time to Kill? I
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: don't know why I can't think of the director. He's
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: worked with the, he worked with Tim Burton.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Time to Kill director is Joe Schumacher. Oh, Joe Schumacher.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Big Joe. Schumacher.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: I'm going to have to go Quentin, man.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Oh, he does voiceover in Glorious. Hugo Stiglitz.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Gotcha, gotcha.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: I'm going to have to go Quentin.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Okay. I'm going to agree with you.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I don't know about Hall of Fame performance. I feel
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: like we covered that.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: We already know what that is.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: We don't need to do that.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: We're going to keep coming back.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Should we keep that in as first thing?
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Just not for Sam.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: All right, last thing. Sam Jackson's top 10.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: Ooh.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Between me and Tony, we cannot repeat. This is the
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: top 10 Sam Jackson movie draft.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: So we're coming with five each?
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Five each.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I'm going to go. You go. You go. I'm going
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: to go.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Okay. You going first?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: You can go first.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Any movie that he's in?
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Any movie that he's in.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Goodfellas. Goodfellas, dog. Lufthansa.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Yeah, okay.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Goodfellas is one of the best movies ever made, in
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: All right. Any movie he's in, I'm going to go
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: with Pulp Fiction.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Sam Jackson's greatest role, most memorable role, delivers Pulp Fiction.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: I'm coming in with Coming to America, one of the
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: best comedies ever made.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Okay, wait. Let's go back. I am. That ain't a
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Sam Jackson movie.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Okay, all right. Take it out. I'll take it out. Well,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I mean, neither is Goodfellas.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Take it out. Start over.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I'm taking out Goodfellas as well?
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: All right, all right.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Wait, let me pause. Can I do Incredibles? He's in Incredibles.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: He is, but his voice worked. Oh, my God.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I don't care what you say. Put Goodfellas back in then.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Because that's in my top ten. Because that means you
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: ain't going to be able to give Eddie Murphy donkey.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: So we include the voicemail.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Have to.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: All right, all right.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: A movie is a movie. Okay. But Goodfellas ain't a
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Sam Jackson movie. It's not. It's not.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: It's really not.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: All right. Start over. All right. Number one.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Number one. The Incredibles.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I'll let you have Incredibles. I love Incredibles. Frozo, nigga.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: We're also Pulp Fiction. Jules. All right. Jules.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Die hard with a vengeance.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Top 10. Yeah. Okay.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: That's a good time.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: All right. I'm going to go Django Unchained. Okay.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Top five.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Yeah. That's a great Samuel L. Jackson performance. It's a
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: great performance. It's just a great performance. And it's not...
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: You see a lot of Sam doing a lot of
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the same things in movies. Yeah. That is a... He's
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: not doing a thing that he's known for. Yeah. Therefore,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: if I'm only getting 10 movies with Sam, I want
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: to see.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Django Unchained.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Even though I hate him. Oh, for sure.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: That's the beauty of when an actor makes you hate them.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I hate you.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: That's a job.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: And I have previously loved you for years. For sure.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I could hate you. Yeah. But I hate you now.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Sorry.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: Ease by you.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you love that.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: I love that movie, man.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: You love that. Okay. Can I have Jurassic Park? He's
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: in Jurassic Park. He's in there.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: He's in there.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: He's in Jurassic Park.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Hold on to your butts.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Hold on to you. As a kid, I was like,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: these are butts. Jurassic Park's 94? 93. I was 10.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, prime real estate.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Hold on to your butts, God. He said butts.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. Jurassic Park.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Hold on to your butts.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: It's so PG-13.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Ain't no way he would have said that in real life.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Especially not Sam.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Hold the freak on to your butts.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: How am I cheating with Jurassic Park? Sam Jackson is
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: in Jurassic Park.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: It's a small role, but he's in there. It's a
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: small role, but he's in there. It's not like Deep
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Blue Sea, though.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Deepest, bluest. My heart is like a shark fin.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: It's so silly.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: All right, you're up.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I'm going to go with Time to Kill. That's what
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: I was going to go next. Yeah, man, I'm taking it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I was going to go that next.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I'm taking it.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: That movie's excellent. How many do I have left?
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: Two?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: I'm going to go.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: I loved Unbreakable. I liked his role as Elijah. I love.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Top ten, man.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Top ten. Top ten. Top ten. Because, you know what,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I'm realizing I'm choosing no. No, I am. You know
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Hey, man, this is your pick.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: I'm choosing opposite, like not opposite, but I'm choosing like
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: where Sam is playing differently than Sam. Okay. I thought
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: it was great. I thought it was great. So you
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: got one more and I got one more. Yeah. I'm
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: going to come in with The Negotiator. That is a
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: great movie.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: That movie was really good.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I love that movie. When I gave them my money,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: they gave me the movie I signed up for. When
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I left, I said, this was an even exchange. The
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: money I gave you, I am happy with what you
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: gave me. I shook the movie person's hand. I said,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: let me talk to the movie man. He came out
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: of his office, came downstairs and said, how can I
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: help you, sir? I said, hey, I gave y'all 10
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: bucks for this movie. And I think it was fair exchange.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: He was like, oh, I'm glad you liked it. Shook
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: his hand. And I went home. There it is. I said,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: thank you, movie man. He said, we try to deliver.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: You did. And they delivered. And they delivered. I didn't
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: leave mad. F.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Gary Gray, Kevin Spacey, Sam Jacks.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Sam Jacks.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Let's get it. All right.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I'm going to go. The Long Kiss. Good night.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: It was a good time, man.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: That was a great movie that I saw recently. I
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: got a little recency bias. But it's good.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: It lets you know it holds up. That came out
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: in 96.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: It holds up. And the action's not even bad.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: No, the action's good.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: For that many, for almost 30, no, for 30 years. Yeah.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: For 30 years, I was like, oh, I mean, it
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: looks like 96. Yeah. But Geena Davis is good. Sam
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Jackson is fantastic. Yeah. He's everything you want. She threw
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: him out the car.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: He just laid there and lit a cigarette. That's so
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Shane Black.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: It's so Shane Black.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Shane Black. The character's just going to be beat down.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: He's going to light a cigarette.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: The scene where he was working with the homeless.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: People, that was God.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: The homeless dude threw up. Read him his rights.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: The homeless man didn't know what to do with it.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, I'll do it. I don't know.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Read him his rights.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Oh, shit. It was so funny. Because I didn't know
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: they were homeless at first. I thought he was a cop.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Nobody is in the police at this time. That dude was,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: what the hell is going on?
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: You're about to be in a homeless man. All right,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: so we cops?
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: All right. Hold it together.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: You going to give me $ 5?
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Freeze.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: He's swaying with the gun.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Freeze, punks.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: And be still. Hold on to your butts.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Stay still.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Wiping your mouth with the gun. Tough. All right. That's
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Samuel L. Jackson. Yeah. Deep dive. Deep dive on Samuel L. Jackson.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: This was fantastic.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: This was great.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Throw in the comments who you guys want us to
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: do a deep dive in. It can be an actor.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: It can be an actress. It can be a director.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: I feel like actors and actresses will be a little
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: bit easier to start off, but we can get into
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: some directors. Preferably people who have a lot of films.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Much easier if you got more than 20.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Yeah, don't come with somebody with five families.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Whoopi Goldberg, as much as I love her, it's
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: going to be a short episode. Color purple, color purple.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Sister act one. Sister act two. Color purple, color purple.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Sister act two. Color purple, color purple.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: One, two.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Color purple, two. Sister act two. Color purple, color purple.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Color purple, color purple. Sister act two. Color purple, color purple. Ghost, ghost, ghost, ghost.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Nettie.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Nettie. Color purple. All right, y'all. Patreon. Stick around. Tony's
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: going to shoot some movie review stuff. Everybody else, we'll
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: see y'all next week. Bye. Yeah.
