- 0:14Speaker 3: Fantastic guys, thanks for joining us today.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Thanks very much, Thank you so much for having us.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yeah, pleasure guys.
- 0:21Speaker 4: So, Copperhead will be releasing your new single, Public Indecency
- 0:25Speaker 4: on January the thirties.
- 0:27Speaker 3: So how you feeled about it?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yes, very excited.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, we're extremely excited. We've been you know, we've
- 0:35Speaker 1: had this song in the files for months now, yes,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and we've just been so eager to get.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It out, the blood thing out the world.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And now it's finally happening, and it's going to be
- 0:46Speaker 1: out next week, and we're just over the Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 4: No, I tell us a bit about the song from
- 0:52Speaker 4: a musical point of view and what you're going for
- 0:54Speaker 4: with it.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So, yeah, the music, the lineup of instruments is pretty simple.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We've got guitar, bass, vocals, and dramas. Yeah, it's pretty raw,
- 1:07Speaker 1: old school, yeah, keeping that old school sound. You know.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We've started off with Mortal Souls. We released a song
- 1:18Speaker 1: called Mortal Souls a few months ago, which quickly wracked
- 1:22Speaker 1: up thousands of streams on Spotify, And we just want
- 1:26Speaker 1: to keep that momentum rolling and get it out to
- 1:29Speaker 1: the world. Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yeah, public indecency is pretty cool subject matter from a
- 1:34Speaker 4: band still saying up And so have you guys ever
- 1:37Speaker 4: had any experience or been arrested for public a decency?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Not yet?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 1:44Speaker 4: I have. I listened to the song that brought back
- 1:48Speaker 4: so many good memories. Yeah, what's a group of young
- 1:54Speaker 4: fellows doing writing about something like that?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Anyway?
- 1:56Speaker 4: Like most of you guys are supposed to be writing
- 1:57Speaker 4: about your high school crush or the cheating you want
- 1:59Speaker 4: to th rocksat, Like that's pretty cool.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, funny story. The song actually has nothing to do
- 2:05Speaker 1: with public in decency.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's just a fucking name off the tongue, really right.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I was watching, but I.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Was wondering, like, when the commins gonna play?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Then?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Wh when they're coming into the you know?
- 2:20Speaker 1: But I guess we've kind of so the song, the
- 2:26Speaker 1: song name, the song title was already established before there
- 2:31Speaker 1: were any lyrics. What's weird anything like that? That? We
- 2:35Speaker 1: just had a crappy instrumental. We just ran with it.
- 2:40Speaker 5: It's just it's sort of stuck in our minds, Like
- 2:42Speaker 5: it's just like that's a fucking tough ass name for
- 2:45Speaker 5: a song, Like I'm not like it just sort of
- 2:49Speaker 5: fits works well for us, Like it's just it's sort
- 2:51Speaker 5: of less just like it's an awesome name.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Really, I have never heard anything like that before. Guys
- 2:57Speaker 4: been hats off to you for doing it.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we don't. We don't know why.
- 3:04Speaker 2: We don't know why, we.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Don't know why.
- 3:05Speaker 3: It's obviously working.
- 3:08Speaker 1: We even thought, oh maybe we should change the name.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We just couldn't think of anything that Yeah, that's yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and yeah, it was just so it was it's just fun.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It's a fun song.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah, the same thing is before we actually started to
- 3:23Speaker 4: be like when people hear the song, they'll understand themselves.
- 3:25Speaker 4: But there's about a minute where the intro there just
- 3:27Speaker 4: instrumental before the vocals kick in. Like I love that
- 3:30Speaker 4: sort of thinking music because it's not done very often.
- 3:32Speaker 4: But there's bands that have been around for twenty or
- 3:34Speaker 4: thirty years that haven't got the balls to do that anymore.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But you guys are coming in. You still have got
- 3:39Speaker 4: your baby chief most years and you're probably out shit
- 3:41Speaker 4: like that, Like, wherehere's that come from?
- 3:45Speaker 1: Do you want to talk about that? You do that?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Because I didn't. I didn't writ an instrumental.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Well, it's sort of like it's just sort of like
- 3:57Speaker 6: I've always liked stuff like that where it's like it
- 4:01Speaker 6: has this cool sort of start where nothing's happening.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Nate over here on the bass is sort of ripping
- 4:07Speaker 7: out on the instrumental bit, and then it all just
- 4:10Speaker 7: sort of comes in.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And we kind of come in with a bang, just
- 4:15Speaker 1: sort of a bang.
- 4:16Speaker 2: We like that sort of punch in the face type shit.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Like it's just like, you.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Know, yeah, it's also good for an event here, I
- 4:23Speaker 4: think because people that haven't heard much of you guys before,
- 4:26Speaker 4: if that's their first taste, it gets you about a
- 4:28Speaker 4: minute and you're thinking, these guys instrumental when the lyrics
- 4:31Speaker 4: coming in and then come in, so sort of it's
- 4:33Speaker 4: signing a bit of a curveball there by doing that
- 4:35Speaker 4: as well.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah, when we were recording, like when we were recording
- 4:39Speaker 1: the song, what we were thinking this song could work
- 4:42Speaker 1: as an instrumental.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, fuck that instrumental is boring, Like.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you know, we thought that we were
- 4:53Speaker 1: just like, yeah, no, instrumentals are boring.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Fucking tough as lyrics and dang.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 4: You mentioned your debut song, Mortal Souls, so that came
- 5:05Speaker 4: out not long ago and you got this one as
- 5:07Speaker 4: a follow up.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So how do they differ musically the two songs tempo?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Tempo for sure is a subject matter. You know, Mortal
- 5:18Speaker 1: Souls it kind of came around as just a song
- 5:24Speaker 1: about a battle between two sides. It's just two sides
- 5:29Speaker 1: battling it out to become on top. And yeah, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: there's and it's almost as if like I don't ever
- 5:41Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, but two teams battling
- 5:52Speaker 1: it out to come on top that that song is about.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And yeah, Republic Indecency is a lot more serious.
- 5:59Speaker 8: I guess that I think I'm bad, Like it was
- 6:03Speaker 8: it a hard decision to know what order to release
- 6:05Speaker 8: the two songs in or do you just sort of
- 6:08Speaker 8: out there and see what happens?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. We released Mortal Souls first because we thought
- 6:16Speaker 1: it was just a good way to really show people
- 6:21Speaker 1: who we are. But Public Indecency is our favorite out
- 6:25Speaker 1: of the two. Songs, and we kind of wanted to
- 6:33Speaker 1: hold off on releasing the better song. I guess people
- 6:42Speaker 1: are going to be surprised when it is musically. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and because Mortal Souls is just a you know, thrash
- 6:52Speaker 1: it out, just go hard all the time, and I
- 6:55Speaker 1: guess Public Indecency is also that in a way. But
- 7:00Speaker 1: it's a.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Lot more like this fucking you know.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I don't even know how to describe it. You're just
- 7:08Speaker 1: going to have to listen to it. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Moving forward with new music, which which are the two songs?
- 7:14Speaker 4: Is more what you're going to sound like?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Oh, probably a combination of the two. Yeah, Rather than
- 7:24Speaker 1: trying to sound more like Mortal Souls or trying to
- 7:27Speaker 1: sound more like Public Immecency, We're just going to roll
- 7:31Speaker 1: with whatever sounds right to us and what it feels,
- 7:35Speaker 1: whatever feels the best, whatever feels good. Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Both of those songs were co written with Aussie punk
- 7:43Speaker 4: out the Captives. So can you explain the process of
- 7:46Speaker 4: co writing a song and why you.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Would do it?
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So, the.
- 7:53Speaker 1: With the two songs, they were brought to me by
- 8:00Speaker 1: Charlie and Nate because I wasn't I wasn't in the band.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I they had a drummer lined up to go to
- 8:11Speaker 1: Melbourne to record the two songs, like he couldn't make
- 8:14Speaker 1: it just because of I just couldn't do it. Just so,
- 8:22Speaker 1: about a week and a half I think it was,
- 8:25Speaker 1: or maybe two weeks before they were supposed to go
- 8:27Speaker 1: to Melbourne to record, they asked me to go and
- 8:29Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, sure, send me the demos. They
- 8:33Speaker 1: sent me the demos and I was like, well, they
- 8:35Speaker 1: sent me a demo.
- 8:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it was a demo because I don't
- 8:38Speaker 7: think we did a demo more so.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but they had a demo of Public in Decency
- 8:44Speaker 1: and I listened to it and I was like, okay, yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 1: but yeah, we brought it. We brought both the songs
- 8:54Speaker 1: back to my place. Did you even have an instrumental
- 8:57Speaker 1: for Mortal Souls? I think he had a had it, yeah, yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 1: and then I put drums over it and it just worked.
- 9:04Speaker 1: It just worked, you know. Yeah, a lot of our
- 9:06Speaker 1: stuff he's improvised as well.
- 9:10Speaker 2: We just bond so well.
- 9:12Speaker 7: When we play stuff together as a band, stuff just
- 9:15Speaker 7: comes out immediately and it works. Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Tell the story of how you met Aaron.
- 9:20Speaker 9: Well, I met Aaron the lead singer of Captives through
- 9:25Speaker 9: a Facebook marketplace post right, and I was trying to buy.
- 9:32Speaker 7: I was trying to invest in some pas for the band,
- 9:36Speaker 7: and I happened to be talking to Aaron.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Where I had no clue about it, and I went
- 9:43Speaker 2: to go pick.
- 9:43Speaker 7: Him up, and I was speaking to his mum, and
- 9:46Speaker 7: his mum was just so into about she was so
- 9:49Speaker 7: into the band and I was just talking about Obviously.
- 9:51Speaker 2: She must have passed it on to Aaron. I don't
- 9:53Speaker 2: know what happened there.
- 9:54Speaker 7: And me and Aaron just always kept in contact and yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 7: I mean he one day asked us to go to
- 9:59Speaker 7: mel and record with Tyson Fish and.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going from there. Yeah. Yeah. We showed up
- 10:08Speaker 1: to Melbourne. You know, we went and stayed at night
- 10:10Speaker 1: in the hotel and Aaron met us down in the
- 10:13Speaker 1: street and and he's like, all right, boys, come with me. Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We went with Charlie's parents and they just sent us off.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They were like, all right, if you go go with Aaron.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 1: He ended up, you know, driving us three out.
- 10:33Speaker 2: What was this I can't but it was pretty far away,
- 10:36Speaker 2: Like we were right.
- 10:37Speaker 7: In the city and they were like Tyson and Aron
- 10:41Speaker 7: like all the way out.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Somewhere else.
- 10:45Speaker 2: So every day, like Aaron was driving in to pick
- 10:47Speaker 2: us up and drive will driving out there.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And like yeah it's cool. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Cool.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So the reason we chose to go to Melbourne to
- 10:58Speaker 1: record the two songs was because we were offered to
- 11:02Speaker 1: go to Melbourne to record you Captives. They must have
- 11:06Speaker 1: just seen something in Copperhead and they you know, they
- 11:12Speaker 1: helped out a lot financially. Yeah, and they're they're investing
- 11:17Speaker 1: in us.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Good good.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Did you record any more than those two songs while
- 11:22Speaker 4: you were there or is that it for now?
- 11:24Speaker 1: That's it for now. Yeah, but we do have plans
- 11:27Speaker 1: to go back very soon. Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Nice.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Nice with Tyson and Captives at the moment.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Now, you guys have got a couple of shows coming
- 11:36Speaker 4: up as well, one on February the twenty seventh, and
- 11:38Speaker 4: one on March or twenty third, so tell us more
- 11:40Speaker 4: about them.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah. So we'll be playing in Devonport at the pub
- 11:46Speaker 1: Rock Diner supporting a band called Crusty Virus. Yeah, pretty interesting,
- 11:55Speaker 1: and you know our friends in Swords Brows and run
- 11:58Speaker 1: the out there also supporting Custom Virus. That's looking to
- 12:02Speaker 1: be a pretty awesome night. Yeah, it'll be our first
- 12:07Speaker 1: public appearance since the Tasmanium Rock Challenge.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Yes, all right, I say you're going from the minor league,
- 12:13Speaker 4: so it's the major league straight up.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh well, we like to think of it that way.
- 12:18Speaker 3: I meant that. I meant that.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Then the best way possibly going from playing the school
- 12:22Speaker 4: competition to your first gig out of that is supporting
- 12:25Speaker 4: a decent band, Like it's he is nervous.
- 12:29Speaker 1: We're very exciting, very excited. Yeah, we're trying not to
- 12:34Speaker 1: be nervous. Yes, we're always going to be nervous, always
- 12:38Speaker 1: to be there.
- 12:39Speaker 4: But yeah that boys, keep nerves of what keep you
- 12:42Speaker 4: guys still get just as nervous before talking to you
- 12:45Speaker 4: guys as I would before talking. Look, and the day
- 12:47Speaker 4: that stops today, I'll give it up, man. Like nerves
- 12:50Speaker 4: are a fucking good thing.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're just hoping to put on the
- 12:56Speaker 1: best performance we can every single time we play a show.
- 12:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to come out with a bang in Devonport.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Then we're going to follow it up in Long Sesson
- 13:05Speaker 1: in March on the thirteenth of March. Yep, and then yep,
- 13:10Speaker 1: that's all that's announced for now.
- 13:12Speaker 4: That's all't push anymore then, Beau, So what does the
- 13:17Speaker 4: next twelve to eighteen months look like for coffe and
- 13:19Speaker 4: if you've got things mapped out.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Of yes, we do, Yes, what can you tell us?
- 13:24Speaker 1: We can tell you that we'll be doing those two shows,
- 13:28Speaker 1: one in Long Sesson and one in Devonport, both going
- 13:32Speaker 1: to be pretty epic performances from us. Yeah, and we
- 13:37Speaker 1: plan to go back to record in Melbourne another two
- 13:40Speaker 1: songs in at the very start of May.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Right, yeah, I awaken people. Keep an eye out for
- 13:49Speaker 4: you and keep up to date with what you're up.
- 13:50Speaker 1: To Instagram, Instagram, Facebook, Copperhead on Facebook, well, the Copperhead
- 13:58Speaker 1: sound on Instagram yep, and copper Head on Facebook.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Fantastic roys. All right, Well that's all I've got for
- 14:06Speaker 4: you today. This single, Public Indecency is out January thirtieth.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Then I think she's a fucking cracker, so hopefully the
- 14:12Speaker 4: rest of the world agrees with me. But otherwise, thanks
- 14:14Speaker 4: for the chat voice and best of luck with the
- 14:16Speaker 4: fu chat.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Thank you so much for having us,
- 14:19Speaker 1: and we're really glad that you enjoy the song.
