- 0:59Speaker 3: Kilowatts of power. Five more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:27Speaker 4: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:30Speaker 5: It's starting again.
- 1:41Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 1:43Speaker 6: I am Misty.
- 1:44Speaker 5: And I'm still Jay.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Still? Still.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Damn. Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Trying to trade up?
- 1:50Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from Lexington,
- 1:55Speaker 1: home of the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 1:58Speaker 6: Woo!
- 1:59Speaker 1: Back once again.
- 2:00Speaker 6: Hell yeah we are.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Hanging out. Doing cool things.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Looking shady.
- 2:06Speaker 6: As always. It's actually still daylight because we're doing it
- 2:10Speaker 6: on a Sunday.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of weird.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's unusual for us.
- 2:13Speaker 6: I know.
- 2:15Speaker 1: But it was awesome. We had people hanging around.
- 2:20Speaker 6: I talked to a person.
- 2:21Speaker 1: We'll get to that.
- 2:23Speaker 6: I was so excited.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But there was regular people. This was the most impressive
- 2:27Speaker 1: part as far as I'm concerned. Several times during the day,
- 2:30Speaker 1: not only did I see like regular people, but these
- 2:33Speaker 1: were regular like girls. Like we've discussed in the past
- 2:37Speaker 1: the fact that, you know, used to be there were
- 2:39Speaker 1: no girls at these conventions. And then we got to
- 2:41Speaker 1: the point of like now there's like super geek girls
- 2:43Speaker 1: that they're. But like there were several times a day
- 2:45Speaker 1: where people were walking in front of us. I'm like,
- 2:47Speaker 1: these are just like they're not in a weird costume.
- 2:49Speaker 1: They're not hardcore geeks. These are just like regular girls
- 2:53Speaker 1: that were walking around at a convention. That was me.
- 2:56Speaker 6: What are you talking about?
- 2:57Speaker 1: You're not regular. What are you talking about?
- 3:00Speaker 6: I am.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You're abnormal and we all know it. Like the Frankenstein brain.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Abnormal.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Abnormal. But one of those that that was my thinking
- 3:10Speaker 1: as it was happening, it was like, huh, it's kind
- 3:13Speaker 1: of weird that they're there. And I swear within a
- 3:15Speaker 1: few minutes, she said to the other girl, this is
- 3:17Speaker 1: the best day ever. I was like, all right. Not
- 3:22Speaker 1: only is she here, she's having a good time.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Hell yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's pretty awesome. So even crossing over into regular folk,
- 3:30Speaker 1: not just weirdos like us.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Which means there was a lot. I figured there'd be
- 3:34Speaker 6: less people on a Sunday, but.
- 3:35Speaker 5: I'll be damned.
- 3:35Speaker 6: There was just as crowded.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Which is good for them.
- 3:38Speaker 6: I mean, it's good for them. It's bringing in the geeks.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Hell yeah, it is.
- 3:40Speaker 1: That's awesome. Lots of people dressed up, costumes.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Hell yeah, there were. And I was trying to figure
- 3:45Speaker 6: out what the majority of them are because I'm old now.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what we do every one of these.
- 3:49Speaker 6: I'm like, what is this reference they keep making over
- 3:51Speaker 6: and over loudly? Like, on repeat, I have no idea
- 3:54Speaker 6: who this character is or why they're doing this.
- 3:56Speaker 1: That weird girl that was just being annoying.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what her deal was.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Which girl that was being annoying?
- 4:01Speaker 1: The one that they told to go the right way
- 4:02Speaker 1: because she couldn't follow the flow of traffic.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Oh, was this in the bottom area?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Oh, I must have been sitting in the hallway at
- 4:09Speaker 5: that point.
- 4:10Speaker 6: We were right next to you.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Oh, you were?
- 4:12Speaker 1: He was not paying attention. What do you want?
- 4:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't see that.
- 4:16Speaker 6: She just kept repeating the same phrase. I'm not even
- 4:19Speaker 6: going to call out what her actual costume was, but
- 4:20Speaker 6: she kept repeating the same phrase. Apparently, I don't know
- 4:23Speaker 6: if it's the catchphrase of the character, but she did
- 4:25Speaker 6: it like, 10 times within a space of like 30 seconds.
- 4:29Speaker 5: What was the catchphrase?
- 4:30Speaker 6: I don't remember, but it was really annoying.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't even hear that.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And she did it in the same voice, like it's
- 4:34Speaker 1: a character voice, because that's the part I was like,
- 4:36Speaker 1: the voice she was doing sounded familiar. I'm like, what
- 4:39Speaker 1: are you, why are you saying this?
- 4:41Speaker 5: You might have been on the phone.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It was annoying.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Oh, okay. Well, no, I said I was in the hallway.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Is that the point? Okay, I was on the phone. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 5: so I didn't, if I was on the phone, I
- 4:52Speaker 5: didn't hear it.
- 4:54Speaker 6: You were lucky.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 1: We also in that vicinity saw Merman and Barnacle Boy.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Hell yeah, we did.
- 5:02Speaker 6: With a fanny pack. I feel like it's fitting.
- 5:06Speaker 1: For Barnacle Boy to have a fanny pack. Yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 6: I was thoroughly convinced that he actually had one.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Well, you questioned. I was like, I don't know, but
- 5:15Speaker 1: it wouldn't surprise me if in the show he actually
- 5:17Speaker 1: had a fanny pack. It does seem fitting.
- 5:19Speaker 6: It's very functional.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And you could, yeah, you could keep all your gadgetry.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I mean. Normally, those two in their original form have
- 5:26Speaker 1: utility belts, so it seems like the dorkier version would
- 5:29Speaker 1: be a fanny pack.
- 5:31Speaker 6: My boyfriend keeps trying to bring it back, and I'm like, no.
- 5:35Speaker 6: He's like, I got cool. I got to be cool.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Fanny packs?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 1: No, it's different. It's like a cool fanny pack.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you know.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It's an oxymoron.
- 5:42Speaker 6: It's a sling pack. What are you talking about?
- 5:45Speaker 5: No, it's a fanny pack. Not a sling bag. You
- 5:47Speaker 5: don't wear it across your chest. You wear it either
- 5:50Speaker 5: on the back or the front.
- 5:52Speaker 6: On the side a little bit sometimes.
- 5:53Speaker 5: It depends, you know. You put your Walkman in there
- 5:57Speaker 5: with your cassette tapes.
- 5:58Speaker 6: It would almost be cool if you put it on
- 6:00Speaker 6: your hip, like on the complete hip side.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I used to carry it on my hip. I always
- 6:05Speaker 5: just had it up front so I could access my
- 6:07Speaker 5: cassette tapes.
- 6:10Speaker 1: What year is this? Is this going on in 1984?
- 6:12Speaker 5: It was 1990.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Got to reach down for my thriller tape. Hold on
- 6:16Speaker 1: a second.
- 6:17Speaker 6: What cassettes did you carry in your fanny pack?
- 6:20Speaker 5: Iron Maiden, Seventh Son of the Seventh Son, and Pink Floyd, Animals,
- 6:25Speaker 5: and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure soundtrack.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The first one or the second one?
- 6:30Speaker 5: The first one.
- 6:31Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Were these official releases or bootleg from Thailand?
- 6:35Speaker 5: The first two were official releases. Well, I mean, the
- 6:43Speaker 5: Bill and Ted's was an official release, and the Pink
- 6:47Speaker 5: Floyd's one was an official release. Because I remember because
- 6:51Speaker 5: the cassette cost so much. I bought it at Kmart,
- 6:53Speaker 5: and it was like $ 20- some dollars, which was a lot
- 6:56Speaker 5: back then.
- 6:56Speaker 6: It's a lot now.
- 6:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. It was a lot for a cassette tape.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I don't know why it cost that much. I remember
- 7:03Speaker 5: bitching about it at the time. But I bought it.
- 7:07Speaker 5: that and then um the iron maiden one was a
- 7:11Speaker 5: bootleg because all the uh song titles were like like
- 7:17Speaker 5: i bought it and i was pretty excited about getting
- 7:19Speaker 5: it you know and then um you know how you
- 7:23Speaker 5: fold out yeah you'd get the cassette the gatefold and
- 7:27Speaker 5: you would open it and you could that way you
- 7:29Speaker 5: could read the lyrics you know the songs can't say
- 7:32Speaker 5: i haven't done this so so i i got the
- 7:34Speaker 5: cassette i opened it up And it was just a
- 7:38Speaker 5: piece of paper where it was printed. Are you going
- 7:42Speaker 5: to worry about the sirens?
- 7:43Speaker 6: It just adds to the atmosphere.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:46Speaker 5: So, yeah, anyways, it was just printed on a piece
- 7:49Speaker 5: of paper. And I was like, what the hell? What's
- 7:53Speaker 5: going on here? And then the cassette tape was like
- 7:56Speaker 5: a regular, like... A Maxell. Yeah, like a Maxell or
- 8:00Speaker 5: a TDK or something like that. And I was like, what?
- 8:04Speaker 5: I thought maybe I got scammed. And then I was, like,
- 8:06Speaker 5: looking at the song titles, and it was, like, Number
- 8:09Speaker 5: of the Beast was, like, Number of the Burt.
- 8:11Speaker 6: I remember.
- 8:12Speaker 5: They misspelled it.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Ah, the hit.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yeah, and there was a couple other ones.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Was there a tribute to Ernie on there as well?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Jeez, I don't know, but they misspelled some stuff. Did
- 8:20Speaker 5: this come from Big Lots? No, it actually came from
- 8:23Speaker 5: the mall.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 8:25Speaker 5: It came from the mall there.
- 8:26Speaker 6: In Thailand.
- 8:27Speaker 5: In Thailand, yeah. It's in Bangkok.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Did they have Musicland there?
- 8:32Speaker 5: Yeah. They had a table that just had cassette tapes.
- 8:35Speaker 1: No, this is your problem.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I put it in my Walkman and it was all, like,
- 8:41Speaker 5: it was all right. I mean, it was the actual album. So,
- 8:47Speaker 5: I mean, at least that was a bonus. But, I mean, really,
- 8:50Speaker 5: in reality, I spent, like, gosh, I don't remember how
- 8:53Speaker 5: many baht it was. It wasn't a lot. It was
- 8:56Speaker 5: under a dollar. I remember that. That's why I was like,
- 8:59Speaker 5: hell yeah, under a, you know, under a, buck you
- 9:02Speaker 5: know for a cassette tape that's.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Crazy it's a bargain back in the day and now.
- 9:08Speaker 5: So i mean kids have no idea like we were
- 9:11Speaker 5: in thailand for three months so i was there for
- 9:13Speaker 5: three months and i had like i had well i
- 9:16Speaker 5: had four cassette tapes because i had one tape that
- 9:19Speaker 5: had uh oh geez what did.
- 9:22Speaker 6: It have on it um was it a mixtape yeah
- 9:25Speaker 6: it was a mixtape hell yeah mixtape but it was uh.
- 9:29Speaker 5: The lifestyle oh man what did it have on it
- 9:31Speaker 5: no it wasn't so much a mixtape it was like
- 9:34Speaker 5: a um.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Compilation no um i'm trying to think of.
- 9:40Speaker 5: What it was it was back when like z rock
- 9:42Speaker 5: 50 and metal shop used to come on the radio
- 9:45Speaker 5: and so i would stay up really late and i
- 9:47Speaker 5: would like record metal shop like certain like new songs
- 9:51Speaker 5: so you know like danzig was on there and slayer
- 9:54Speaker 5: and stuff like that But it was just all that.
- 9:59Speaker 5: It was stuff I recorded off the radio late night.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Did you push play and record at the same time?
- 10:03Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, you had to do that.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I mean, that's the only way you're going to make
- 10:05Speaker 1: those work. Once again, kids, I don't know if you
- 10:07Speaker 1: understand that.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Kids today will never know.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Never know. Like staying up all night because I wasn't
- 10:12Speaker 5: supposed to be up that late, but I would stay
- 10:14Speaker 5: up all night like waiting for that song to come
- 10:17Speaker 5: on or a song because sometimes they would tell you,
- 10:19Speaker 5: you know, what was coming on that night or what
- 10:21Speaker 5: they were going to play. And if it wasn't anything good,
- 10:23Speaker 5: I'd just go to sleep. But if they were playing
- 10:26Speaker 5: some good stuff, then I would stay up for the
- 10:29Speaker 5: rest of the night. I don't even know how we
- 10:31Speaker 5: got on that stupid subject.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Fanny packs.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Fanny packs and cassette tapes. Yeah, yeah. Which, again, the
- 10:38Speaker 1: weird things that come back. That's what I was saying earlier.
- 10:41Speaker 1: CDs have also come back in a weird way. Because
- 10:44Speaker 1: that tape's already did. Well, I mean, vinyl's been a thing. Like,
- 10:47Speaker 1: vinyl kind of never went away for collectors.
- 10:49Speaker 5: No, but they said that this year, I think it
- 10:51Speaker 5: was this year or the past year, that vinyl had
- 10:54Speaker 5: sold more than it sold in the past.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I believe it. How many years? Because it's like, that's
- 11:00Speaker 1: the part I don't understand. Like, almost all of the
- 11:02Speaker 1: businesses I know of have gone under, but somehow more
- 11:05Speaker 1: and more vinyl shops have opened up. I'm like, how
- 11:08Speaker 1: many people are out there loading up on vinyl? And
- 11:10Speaker 1: they're not cheap. Like, now they're four times as much
- 11:13Speaker 1: as they used to cost.
- 11:14Speaker 5: When does Ear Ecstasy open back up?
- 11:16Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. I think he just
- 11:17Speaker 1: gave up. I know, I know.
- 11:19Speaker 5: But you can still get the bumper stickers from him,
- 11:21Speaker 5: and I've really been wanting to write him and get
- 11:25Speaker 5: some Ear Ecstasy bumper stickers.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they put that stuff back out. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: think you can get T-shirts and stuff.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I never got a T-shirt.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We just live in nostalgia world now where we think
- 11:33Speaker 1: about the old things, but, you know, we don't support
- 11:35Speaker 1: them enough to keep them in business.
- 11:36Speaker 5: No, I need to buy one of those shirts before
- 11:39Speaker 5: it goes away again because just back then you never
- 11:41Speaker 5: bought one because you're like, I'm here once a week. Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 5: one of these days I'll get one. But I don't
- 11:47Speaker 5: need it right now because everybody's got it. And you
- 11:49Speaker 5: can get it. It's right here. And then all of
- 11:51Speaker 5: a sudden it was gone. And you were like, well, fuck.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah. I think about how much money I gave them
- 11:57Speaker 1: on import CDs.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Because I started going there when I was right. Well,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I adopted CD land in the pretty early days when
- 12:04Speaker 1: I could afford it. Like when I bought the first
- 12:07Speaker 1: one disc player and it popped out and you put
- 12:09Speaker 1: the disc in. It was pretty exciting. But yeah, then
- 12:12Speaker 1: I started going to Air Ecstasy and they had import CDs.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And it would be like one to three songs for
- 12:18Speaker 1: as much as a regular album. Now, granted, sometimes they
- 12:22Speaker 1: would be weird stuff that you couldn't get any other way.
- 12:25Speaker 1: That would sucker me in every time. So I still
- 12:28Speaker 1: have a shelf full of that stuff sitting at home
- 12:30Speaker 1: because I'm not getting rid of it.
- 12:32Speaker 5: I think I still have one of my imports from there.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It was a Japanese Beastie Boys import of Check Your Head.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I don't know. I may still have it or I
- 12:42Speaker 5: may not. It just depends.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I have quite a few.
- 12:46Speaker 5: They were pretty good because they would get techno.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Which is something like at the time, I mean, techno
- 12:55Speaker 5: wasn't big enough to like, you know, that people were like,
- 12:58Speaker 5: oh yeah, we didn't have like, there wasn't.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That was when anything dance oriented was a vinyl market
- 13:03Speaker 1: because they had like an underground scene that put out
- 13:06Speaker 1: their own vinyl.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Because it was at a different, record store it was
- 13:11Speaker 1: technically still a record store back then and they had
- 13:13Speaker 1: a basement area that was all like dance and techno
- 13:16Speaker 1: and like all of the weird house stuff was down
- 13:18Speaker 1: on this other level yeah and like my friend used
- 13:21Speaker 1: to go in there and like just knew what all
- 13:22Speaker 1: that shit was like I didn't know any of it
- 13:24Speaker 1: again I'm listening to like radio crap and MTV like
- 13:26Speaker 1: I didn't know anything and I'm just like what are
- 13:28Speaker 1: these and they were like again like 40 bucks for
- 13:30Speaker 1: a weird vinyl that didn't even have like it was
- 13:33Speaker 1: just a sleeve didn't have a cut like it was
- 13:35Speaker 1: just stuff that people were recording themselves and pressing themselves.
- 13:38Speaker 5: And like Well, I got exposed to it from AMP
- 13:43Speaker 5: that used to run on MTV. And again, we used
- 13:47Speaker 5: to all stay up late. I think by that time,
- 13:52Speaker 5: I was already working. But I know I would, like
- 13:54Speaker 5: me and my friends would get together and we would
- 13:56Speaker 5: stay up late and watch AMP. I want to say
- 13:58Speaker 5: it was on at like 3 o'clock in the morning
- 14:01Speaker 5: or something stupid like that. It was late. And we
- 14:04Speaker 5: would stay up and watch it. And it's like, I
- 14:05Speaker 5: got to be at work at 7 o'clock the next morning.
- 14:08Speaker 5: And so I would just be just dead tired.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But, uh, yeah, I think all mine was just the
- 14:14Speaker 1: cool world soundtrack. I was like, this is a lot
- 14:18Speaker 1: of noise going on at once. And then Moby, you know, I.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Didn't really know about Moby till later.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Uh, that was maybe the first thing. That was definitely
- 14:28Speaker 1: the first thing I owned that had anything. He's, he's
- 14:30Speaker 1: mixed in there with all the other, like super fast stuff.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And then like a weird Moby.
- 14:33Speaker 5: That's so weird.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 5: I think mine was like, my introduction was like fluke
- 14:38Speaker 5: and future sound of London. Um, Who else? Daft Punk.
- 14:54Speaker 5: The only marriage that I had, we had Daft Punk
- 14:57Speaker 5: play at our wedding. Not them, actually.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That would be impressive.
- 15:01Speaker 5: No, it was on the playlist of music that was
- 15:06Speaker 5: playing was Daft Punk and fluke and stuff like that.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You know, your traditional wedding songs.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it was a bad wedding.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Bad marriage.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Bad marriage. Yeah, it rained like torrentially.
- 15:24Speaker 6: And that was the.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Best part of it. That was all you needed to know.
- 15:28Speaker 5: So much that the wedding tent was starting to get
- 15:30Speaker 5: flooded and stuff. And it was kind of like, oh,
- 15:33Speaker 5: this is an omen.
- 15:35Speaker 6: And you still went through with it.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:37Speaker 1: You're like, eh, what does Damien know? Let's make this work.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Anyways, techno.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Anyway. Well, that's, I mean, that's actually fitting because these
- 15:51Speaker 1: episodes have just become like, you know, old people talk. So,
- 15:55Speaker 1: because I actually pitched it last time we did one
- 15:58Speaker 1: of these, like the one at the end of last
- 15:59Speaker 1: year when I talked to somebody like a week or
- 16:02Speaker 1: two later and I think I just put the new
- 16:03Speaker 1: episode out. And he was just kind of, he wasn't
- 16:06Speaker 1: familiar with the show, just kind of asking about what
- 16:08Speaker 1: we know. I was like, well, this last one, we
- 16:09Speaker 1: just talked about Old Man Skate Club. And like, he
- 16:11Speaker 1: was entertained by that. So would you like to give
- 16:14Speaker 1: people an update on the Old Man Skate Club?
- 16:16Speaker 5: Old Man Skate Club, yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I think last episode, where we left you on the
- 16:20Speaker 1: cliffhanger was Jay just busted up his ribs.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, I broke my ribs.
- 16:25Speaker 6: I forgot.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Man, it's been a while.
- 16:26Speaker 1: It's been a while.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, so... You.
- 16:28Speaker 6: Managed to not break anything for a little while.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I was going to say, this is like an.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Upbeat version of it. Yeah, so 100% healed up. Of course,
- 16:37Speaker 5: I was back to skating two weeks after that.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm sure your doctors loved that.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Well, they didn't know. And I started doing spine transfers
- 16:48Speaker 5: again in.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Not the move, your spine. You had to have it replaced. No.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Yeah, the move. Like, oh, geez. I don't know. Like
- 16:59Speaker 5: two or three months ago, started doing them again. No,
- 17:01Speaker 5: it's not been two or three months. What month is this? March?
- 17:05Speaker 6: We're still in March.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Okay. Barely.
- 17:07Speaker 5: So it would have been like the end of February.
- 17:09Speaker 5: I started doing spine transfers again. And then I just
- 17:13Speaker 5: learned some variations of tricks over the spine last week.
- 17:18Speaker 5: but I've been progressing pretty quick as far as like, uh, um, uh,
- 17:24Speaker 5: transition and stuff like that. Um, I've just, that's all
- 17:27Speaker 5: I've been doing is skating transition and a little bit
- 17:31Speaker 5: of street, but anymore now, uh, all the street stuff
- 17:34Speaker 5: kind of hurts my ankles and my feet. My feet
- 17:37Speaker 5: are fucked up for some reason now.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think everything's fucked up.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 1: It's certainly in that boat.
- 17:42Speaker 5: It really sucks. Cause like, you know, Ollie and hurts and, and,
- 17:46Speaker 5: and like, Going off of like steps and stuff, that hurts.
- 17:51Speaker 5: And then I can't walk at work the next day.
- 17:53Speaker 5: And that really, everybody's like, what the hell's wrong with you?
- 17:55Speaker 5: And I'm like, eh, you know.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Skateboarding.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Skateboarding. And they're like, you need to quit that shit.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Like old men, you.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Know, skateboarding. Yeah, it's like, whatever. Do whatever I want.
- 18:03Speaker 5: But I mean, we have a really good time. We
- 18:05Speaker 5: have a blast. And like all my friends, they're all
- 18:10Speaker 5: either late 40s or early 50s. Most of them are
- 18:13Speaker 5: all early 50s. With the exception of Richie, who's 60.
- 18:17Speaker 5: But he starts back in the next month because he
- 18:22Speaker 5: was out for some kind of weird prostate surgery.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You know, like all the kids.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Yeah, like all the old guys.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Like all the kids are doing on the skateboards.
- 18:29Speaker 5: But yeah, he was out for like six months. They
- 18:32Speaker 5: told him he couldn't do anything.
- 18:33Speaker 6: So now he's... He asked his doctor. His doctor was like, well.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Goes, Doctor, can I skate now? And he's like, uh.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a good idea in general,
- 18:42Speaker 1: but I mean, I guess if you're going to do
- 18:43Speaker 1: what you're going to do, go for it.
- 18:45Speaker 5: But he said, yeah, you're cleared to do whatever you
- 18:47Speaker 5: want now.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Well, it seems like you're out of the house a
- 18:50Speaker 1: lot more, Misty. Are you relieved to have him out
- 18:52Speaker 1: of the house doing things?
- 18:54Speaker 6: I mean, I can sit and do my doom scrolling
- 18:57Speaker 6: for hours and not worry about it. I got a
- 19:00Speaker 6: 3D printer, so I'm randomly printing out all kinds of
- 19:02Speaker 6: weird shit.
- 19:03Speaker 1: You're playing with new toys that you made yourself.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Hell yeah, I am. Or half the time I'm still
- 19:09Speaker 6: at work while he's out doing stuff. And it means
- 19:11Speaker 6: I get to come home and he's not there to
- 19:12Speaker 6: bug me as soon as I walk in the door.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Yeah, Tuesdays and Thursdays has been my main skating at
- 19:19Speaker 5: the shop. And then Fridays we go hang out with
- 19:24Speaker 5: one of my friends who built a mini micro skate
- 19:28Speaker 5: park in his garage. So we skate with him. And
- 19:31Speaker 5: then sometimes on Monday, which is my friend's only day
- 19:34Speaker 5: off that owns the shop, we'll sometimes.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Either skate the shop or you know we skated a
- 19:41Speaker 5: ditch a couple weeks ago which is pretty cool you
- 19:45Speaker 5: know but he that footage won't be released until he
- 19:49Speaker 5: does this 50 for 50 video he was shooting kind
- 19:52Speaker 5: of a pro video and.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Then on Fridays we go over to your friend's house
- 19:55Speaker 6: and you you skate and I solve murders.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah which again seems fitting yeah you do
- 20:03Speaker 1: love you some murder.
- 20:04Speaker 6: I do we've been the hunt the killers and Deadbolt
- 20:07Speaker 6: Mystery Society. We solve some crimes.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Yeah, they got you playing board games now.
- 20:12Speaker 6: There's no board, so it's okay.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Well, it's games still.
- 20:15Speaker 6: It's murders.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Yeah, it's murder games.
- 20:19Speaker 6: I'm not a gamer by any means. I'm a detective.
- 20:22Speaker 6: Thank you very much.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Thank you, Veronica.
- 20:24Speaker 5: I like that.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Well, I showed you my board. I don't think it
- 20:29Speaker 1: was inspired by this lifestyle choice. It was more inspired
- 20:32Speaker 1: by a found one that had Chewbacca on it. So
- 20:34Speaker 1: it's like, well... This is artwork, and it needs to
- 20:36Speaker 1: be displayed on the wall.
- 20:37Speaker 5: You just need some trucks and some wheels. And a
- 20:40Speaker 5: new hip and some new knees. Ah, who cares? Just
- 20:45Speaker 5: roll around and have fun.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'm walking.
- 20:48Speaker 6: I'm upright.
- 20:49Speaker 1: That's all good. Bubble wrap.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Just head to toe.
- 20:51Speaker 1: As long as I can keep on walking.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Just wear your pads.
- 20:53Speaker 4: It'll be okay.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I need those just to get through the day at
- 20:57Speaker 1: this point.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 4: So, yep. I got a Chewbacca board.
- 21:02Speaker 1: That's as far as I'm going. Other than that, how's
- 21:07Speaker 1: it been?
- 21:08Speaker 6: I bought a book today at the bookstore. I was
- 21:10Speaker 6: pretty excited about that.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You do like books.
- 21:13Speaker 6: It's signed. I got it signed. George Lindsay book. He
- 21:16Speaker 6: is goober in a nutshell, so I'm pretty excited about that.
- 21:19Speaker 1: For those of you who are big goober fans.
- 21:23Speaker 6: And I am not, in fact, a big fan.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Are you an uber goober fan?
- 21:28Speaker 1: That's a status you want.
- 21:29Speaker 6: Maybe I'm an uber goober uber fan.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Yeah, Lord.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It's getting scary. Yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 6: I didn't see any of her books in there.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I'm sure she has one. I didn't used to like
- 21:41Speaker 1: that show at all as a kid. I think because
- 21:43Speaker 1: anything small town, I was just creeped out. I was
- 21:46Speaker 1: just like, ugh, small town things.
- 21:47Speaker 5: I was forced to watch that growing up. That was
- 21:50Speaker 5: very much a staple in our household.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I just heard the whistling and I changed the channel.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I was like, nope.
- 21:55Speaker 6: I do too. I'm just a sucker for signed things
- 21:57Speaker 6: for like $ 5. Hey, I passed up the Charlton Heston thing.
- 22:02Speaker 6: That was in there signed. Thank you very much.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So you couldn't have 15 copies of it.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I was like, there's two copies here. One of them
- 22:09Speaker 6: has to be signed.
- 22:11Speaker 5: When we die and somebody finds your collection of books,
- 22:14Speaker 5: they're going to be like, did she know Charlton Heston?
- 22:18Speaker 5: Was she some kind of broker for his autograph? Was
- 22:22Speaker 5: she his agent?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Why does she have a whole box of the same book?
- 22:26Speaker 1: In case you missed old episodes, yes, she's accumulating signed
- 22:29Speaker 1: books of all sorts. But there are a lot out
- 22:32Speaker 1: there that Charlton Heston signed. And she has most of them.
- 22:35Speaker 6: For every one that I find not signed, I find
- 22:37Speaker 6: like two that are signed. So if you're out there
- 22:40Speaker 6: looking at fucking bookstores, look at the Charlton Heston's and
- 22:42Speaker 6: see if they're signed or not. I'll have you know,
- 22:45Speaker 6: I have two different signed copies of Because there's a
- 22:48Speaker 6: different book that I have of his signed. It's not
- 22:50Speaker 6: all in the arena, thank you very much.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I was going to say, a lot of them are
- 22:53Speaker 1: weird religious-y things, too. Because towards the end, he was
- 22:55Speaker 1: putting out his version of the Bible that he kept signing.
- 22:57Speaker 1: That's the other one I have. Yeah, I was like,
- 22:59Speaker 1: he did that spoken word thing where he read the
- 23:01Speaker 1: Bible to you, and then he put out a book, too,
- 23:03Speaker 1: that was like, I'm assuming you got a deal if
- 23:06Speaker 1: you got him to sign it for you. Maybe you
- 23:07Speaker 1: cost more if you didn't have him sign it. That's
- 23:09Speaker 1: why there's so many signed copies.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Dude, seriously, man.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Like, it's twice as much if you want me to
- 23:13Speaker 1: not sign it. So, you guys make the call.
- 23:16Speaker 6: Sometimes I wonder. Like, literally.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Oh, child.
- 23:22Speaker 6: George Lindsay's dead, isn't he? I'm pretty sure.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I would say he is, because I haven't seen him
- 23:27Speaker 5: at any of the Duke's conventions.
- 23:31Speaker 6: Why would he be in a Duke's convention?
- 23:33Speaker 5: Oh, wait.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, never mind. I had to switch gears because I
- 23:37Speaker 1: was like, wait, no, goober's not on there. That's cooter. Yeah,
- 23:39Speaker 1: that's cooter. You got to get your goober and your
- 23:41Speaker 1: cooter straight. Sorry. You don't want to mix those up.
- 23:43Speaker 5: It's basically the same character.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Kind of.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Except that slight pain of five-pound cooter.
- 23:48Speaker 1: More of those small-town cooters. You got to watch out
- 23:51Speaker 1: for those.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Cooters and goobers.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Goober, five-pound cooter.
- 23:56Speaker 5: I'm really tired. I had to work on the car
- 24:00Speaker 5: before we came out here, so I was kind of
- 24:01Speaker 5: pressed for time. I woke up early, so.
- 24:07Speaker 1: We want to go back to things at the convention today.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Because we did see a Doctor Doom pushing a baby stroller,
- 24:15Speaker 1: which I was thoroughly entertained by.
- 24:17Speaker 6: And Rogue in her rougher years.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Rogue in her rougher years. Yeah.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Rogue had a rough time, man. She's got the worst
- 24:24Speaker 1: powers ever. Come on.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Yeah, she just absorbed everybody's old age.
- 24:27Speaker 6: And I want to clarify that it was a dude
- 24:29Speaker 6: with like a beard.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, we're just joking.
- 24:34Speaker 1: But I've thought that every time. I mean, I didn't
- 24:35Speaker 1: pay much attention to, I had a couple of X-Men comics,
- 24:38Speaker 1: but I didn't read a ton of it. But when
- 24:40Speaker 1: the movie came out, I was just like, so your
- 24:42Speaker 1: superpowers are kill your friends? Like, this is the worst
- 24:45Speaker 1: superpower ever.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Well, in the comic books, it's a little different because,
- 24:49Speaker 5: you know, the comic books, it was, you know, she
- 24:53Speaker 5: was always absorbing people's powers and then using it against, like,
- 24:56Speaker 5: the bad guys.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Which would be fine if you didn't murder your friends
- 24:59Speaker 1: in the process.
- 25:00Speaker 5: It's great. But I mean, in the comic book, she
- 25:02Speaker 5: wasn't really murdering her friends.
- 25:03Speaker 1: She pretty much was in the movies.
- 25:05Speaker 5: But in the movies, it's like, you know, it's funny.
- 25:07Speaker 5: She got to wear cool gloves. Yeah, it's in the movies.
- 25:11Speaker 5: In the comic book, it was the little dog that's like,
- 25:17Speaker 5: you know, in the comic book, she's doing all this
- 25:19Speaker 5: cool shit. And in the movie, she's like, I can't
- 25:21Speaker 5: kiss my boyfriend. And that's the whole thing throughout the movie.
- 25:24Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Kiss her boyfriend. She's got the
- 25:26Speaker 1: suckiest powers ever. She can't get a date. She can't
- 25:30Speaker 1: touch anybody. She can't have friends. She'll kill them.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Is it just with the hands? Like, if she, like, elbows?
- 25:36Speaker 5: Anything. She can't touch anybody with her flesh.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 25:39Speaker 6: I didn't know she could, like, accidentally bump somebody with
- 25:41Speaker 6: her elbow.
- 25:41Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 25:42Speaker 5: It's just sucky powers. As long as she's wearing, like,
- 25:45Speaker 5: fully clothed and she doesn't touch somebody, she's fine. But
- 25:48Speaker 5: she's still, like.
- 25:49Speaker 1: If you make out with Iceman, you're screwed.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 6: So.
- 25:53Speaker 5: I was too busy trying to find a parking spot.
- 25:57Speaker 5: But at least they had parking this time and I
- 25:59Speaker 5: didn't have to park in some random guy's yard.
- 26:02Speaker 1: That was scary.
- 26:03Speaker 6: Worrying about whether or not your car was or was not.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Going to be there.
- 26:05Speaker 5: I was not sure it was going to be there
- 26:07Speaker 5: last time. I was like, is this his yard? Or
- 26:09Speaker 5: is this just like some random guy that's like, here,
- 26:12Speaker 5: park here, give me $ 20. Yeah, that's the thing.
- 26:14Speaker 1: It's one thing if you're charging people to park in
- 26:15Speaker 1: your own yard, but if you just claim someone else's yard,
- 26:18Speaker 1: that's not cool.
- 26:19Speaker 5: You know, I think they do that derby.
- 26:21Speaker 6: And then they had somebody park behind us, so we
- 26:22Speaker 6: had to drive through their front yard to get out.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, how do I get out? He's like,
- 26:26Speaker 5: just drive this way, just drive all the way out here.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I'm like, Like, you won't care, right? He's like, this
- 26:32Speaker 1: isn't my yard, I don't care.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Go ahead. Nobody was there when we got back, so
- 26:36Speaker 6: we just kind of figured out, well, let's just fucking
- 26:37Speaker 6: go straight.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I guess we're going this way.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Yeah, you couldn't back up.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Good times.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Not the way we came through there, you couldn't.
- 26:45Speaker 6: No shady characters this time. No, uh.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Were there shady characters last time?
- 26:51Speaker 6: I mean, aside from the guy having us park in
- 26:52Speaker 6: the yard.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I will say that, like,
- 26:59Speaker 5: And you can back me up on this one. I
- 27:00Speaker 5: could see both sides of the story. If you are
- 27:05Speaker 5: a nerd chick and you're a cosplayer and you are
- 27:10Speaker 5: scantily clad, chances are you're going to get gawked at
- 27:14Speaker 5: by some creepy guys.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Don't be surprised.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Don't be surprised. But, you know, also, you know, on
- 27:21Speaker 5: the flip side of that, if you're a guy, don't
- 27:24Speaker 5: be creepy, but... That's kind of hard for some people nowadays.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Some people are still super creepy, and that guy was.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Most guys.
- 27:33Speaker 5: That guy was creeping on that girl hard.
- 27:36Speaker 6: She could have just left the aisle.
- 27:37Speaker 5: She could have just left the aisle. She did get upset.
- 27:39Speaker 5: She turned to her boyfriend and said something about it.
- 27:41Speaker 5: But I was like, it was enough that while I
- 27:44Speaker 5: was walking by, I saw him, and then I saw
- 27:50Speaker 5: the creepy look. I saw him, and then I looked
- 27:53Speaker 5: to see what he was creeping at. And then I
- 27:55Speaker 5: saw her and then I looked back at him and
- 27:58Speaker 5: he was kind of like, yeah, yeah. You know, I
- 28:02Speaker 5: was just like, dude, really? Come on, grow up, buddy.
- 28:05Speaker 5: I mean, you're an older guy, but still, um, people
- 28:09Speaker 5: are creeps.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 5: It's even, I even knew that was a creepy guy look,
- 28:12Speaker 5: but you know, it's like you said, well, you know,
- 28:14Speaker 5: she's got her ass hanging out. So it, Ass and cleavage. Yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 5: you're going to get stared at.
- 28:19Speaker 6: Not that we're trying to victim shame or anything, but
- 28:21Speaker 6: just don't be surprised.
- 28:22Speaker 1: You have to know what you're getting yourself into when
- 28:24Speaker 1: you decide to dress like that. I'm not saying it's
- 28:26Speaker 1: your fault. I'm just saying you know it's going to
- 28:28Speaker 1: come with the territory.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you're given, you know, something for the
- 28:33Speaker 5: creepy guys to look at, so.
- 28:35Speaker 1: And they don't get out much, so.
- 28:36Speaker 5: No, they don't, you know, and that's the thing.
- 28:38Speaker 1: They're not a normal, balanced human being.
- 28:40Speaker 5: No, I mean, you can tell people to not be creepy, but,
- 28:43Speaker 5: you know, again, creepers are going to creep regardless, so.
- 28:47Speaker 5: but whatever, you know.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Don't be creepy, and don't be surprised if other people
- 28:52Speaker 6: are creepy.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Yep.
- 28:54Speaker 1: These are rules to live by. It's also weird what
- 28:57Speaker 1: you get used to in that lifestyle, because as I
- 28:59Speaker 1: pointed out while I was standing next to you, I
- 29:01Speaker 1: was like, we're also shopping next to a person with
- 29:04Speaker 1: a dragon face. They were just like, oh, look at this.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I just heard them first and they were just like, look,
- 29:10Speaker 1: this is cute. And they're showing this to their friend
- 29:12Speaker 1: and I turn over and they've just got a dragon
- 29:13Speaker 1: face on. The rest of them was just like T-shirt
- 29:17Speaker 1: and jeans and normal outfit, wearing a beanie cap, normal
- 29:20Speaker 1: kid stuff. But the whole front of their face was
- 29:23Speaker 1: like a plastic dragon face mask. And they wore it
- 29:27Speaker 1: the entire time they were looking at stuff. I was
- 29:28Speaker 1: just like, that's, I mean, all right, cool.
- 29:31Speaker 5: Well, the convention kind of crosses over between like, movie cosplay,
- 29:37Speaker 5: anime cosplay, furries.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Fantasy.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Fantasy and creepy dudes.
- 29:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 3: So.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Because they're selling, like, fake swords. And some people get
- 29:48Speaker 1: super excited when they see fake swords. And they'll, like,
- 29:50Speaker 1: want to check into them. Yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Well, I mean, really, who doesn't like a good sword?
- 29:57Speaker 1: I thought we were in trouble because they told you
- 29:58Speaker 1: swinging around if you want. I was like, oh, God.
- 30:00Speaker 6: And I walked away as fast as possible.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you walked away, and I was like, is that
- 30:02Speaker 1: a good idea that they told him to go ahead
- 30:04Speaker 1: and swing the sword around?
- 30:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I wasn't going to swing it around. I just, like,
- 30:08Speaker 5: I looked at it.
- 30:08Speaker 6: If you're going to hand anybody here a sword or
- 30:10Speaker 6: shop object, really, this is the one you're.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Going to go with?
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 1: At least they didn't give him nunchucks.
- 30:14Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Took out six people at the show today.
- 30:19Speaker 5: No, I just wanted to look at it because he
- 30:21Speaker 5: had a bunch of Warhammer stuff, and I know my
- 30:23Speaker 5: kid's like a huge, huge 40K nerd. And I sent
- 30:28Speaker 5: her the card and everything and some screenshots or some
- 30:33Speaker 5: photos of the swords. And she's like, oh, my God.
- 30:36Speaker 5: She's like, I want one so bad. And I was like, well,
- 30:38Speaker 5: here's his Instagram page. That could be.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Her new business. She could start making swords, too. It's
- 30:44Speaker 6: not like she has a real job.
- 30:46Speaker 5: She could, but then she'd have to go to conventions
- 30:48Speaker 5: and set up and stuff like that. Online business.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Interacting with people.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Yeah, she'd have to interact with people. That guy's got
- 30:53Speaker 5: pretty good, though.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He, you know, he.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Like makes and designs. And I guess he 3d prints
- 31:00Speaker 5: all the, the hilts and stuff like that. And then
- 31:03Speaker 5: does all the blades out of some type of foam
- 31:06Speaker 5: and stuff. So they're, uh, they're pretty safe for like,
- 31:11Speaker 5: he said, you can, you know, whack the crap out
- 31:13Speaker 5: of each other with them, you know? So good to know.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Don't encourage me. That's cool.
- 31:18Speaker 5: He handed me a, uh, um, sort of omens. And
- 31:22Speaker 5: I was like, fuck. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 5: You know, and then you walked away and I was trying,
- 31:27Speaker 5: I was like, you know, look, it's a sword of elements,
- 31:29Speaker 5: but you walked off and then he had a She-Ra
- 31:32Speaker 5: sword too. So, yeah, you could have, you could have.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You could have had the power.
- 31:37Speaker 5: Yeah, you could have had the power of.
- 31:38Speaker 6: He would have tried to sucker me into buying it.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Well, see, that's why I was like, you know, let
- 31:43Speaker 5: me send this to my kid and I'll come back
- 31:45Speaker 5: by and see.
- 31:46Speaker 1: What she says. You could have the honor. Wasn't she honor? No.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it was the honor.
- 31:51Speaker 6: The honor of gray school.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I thought hers was buried.
- 31:54Speaker 5: It's something like that.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It's been a while since I've seen some She-Ra. Yeah.
- 31:58Speaker 5: You watched it not too long ago.
- 32:00Speaker 6: It's been a couple weeks.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yeah. That's more recent than me.
- 32:04Speaker 5: Yeah, a couple weeks. That could be a couple years.
- 32:06Speaker 1: A couple decades for me.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Yeah, for us.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I remember when it was on every day when I'd
- 32:10Speaker 1: get off of school and be like, hey, look, She-Ra.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Why has that guy got that weird mustache?
- 32:14Speaker 5: You're just jealous.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess. I mean, didn't get to hang out
- 32:22Speaker 1: with all the She-Ra crew.
- 32:24Speaker 6: You can't, like, push a button on your back and
- 32:25Speaker 6: have a visibly beating heart. I mean, come on now.
- 32:27Speaker 1: That would also be pretty cool, actually. I did think,
- 32:31Speaker 1: in seeing all the costume characters, I came up with
- 32:33Speaker 1: a new feature that they should have at every convention.
- 32:36Speaker 5: What's that?
- 32:36Speaker 1: Deodorant. Well, that's a given. It wasn't bad. Not bad.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It wasn't bad. We've definitely had worse.
- 32:42Speaker 5: What's bad is Xenia.
- 32:44Speaker 6: Holy shit.
- 32:46Speaker 1: But, no, this happens every show, it seems like, and
- 32:50Speaker 1: we definitely saw it today with this same guy over
- 32:52Speaker 1: and over every time we'd pass.
- 32:53Speaker 6: Him in an aisle.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But I'm like, you know, you go to like fancy
- 32:56Speaker 1: restaurants or whatnot and they have like a coat check.
- 32:58Speaker 1: That's when you need like a head check. Because everybody
- 33:01Speaker 1: goes in in costume with a giant head on and
- 33:03Speaker 1: then they want to walk around and shop and there's
- 33:05Speaker 1: like tight quarters and people next to you and like
- 33:07Speaker 1: you can't do it.
- 33:08Speaker 6: I thought you were going to make a reference for
- 33:09Speaker 6: the lollipop chainsaw girl for a second.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I mean, probably that too.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right. Because she's carrying the... her boyfriend's head.
- 33:17Speaker 1: One more reason, you need a head check.
- 33:19Speaker 5: That was a pretty good costume.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And you would take your head over and you'd like,
- 33:22Speaker 1: sort of turn it in and I'll like, get a
- 33:23Speaker 1: ticket and you pick it back up later when you're
- 33:25Speaker 1: done shopping. Go pose out front. Like, you're usually just
- 33:28Speaker 1: there to stand in the lobby and take pictures of
- 33:30Speaker 1: people when you're in the full on costume. And then
- 33:32Speaker 1: after that, when you gotta walk around, you're like, oh,
- 33:34Speaker 1: this sucks trying to walk around. So I'm like, then
- 33:36Speaker 1: you can check your head or whatever large props you
- 33:38Speaker 1: have with you. Check your head. Then when you come back,
- 33:41Speaker 1: you know, you pick them up later. So I don't know.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I feel like that's a useful feature.
- 33:44Speaker 5: That probably would be.
- 33:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: They should have that at every convention.
- 33:48Speaker 6: Get on it.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Check your head.
- 33:51Speaker 5: But yeah, there were some, like you said, I was like,
- 33:53Speaker 5: you know, is lollipop chainsaw still a thing? Because when
- 33:57Speaker 5: did that game come out? That came out a long
- 33:58Speaker 5: time ago.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I feel like everything's still a game.
- 34:00Speaker 6: She's getting her money's worth out of that costume.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess she bought it a long time ago.
- 34:04Speaker 5: She's like, I don't know. She couldn't have bought it
- 34:05Speaker 5: that long ago. She looked like she was like fucking 16.
- 34:08Speaker 6: Maybe it's like a family heirloom. It's a family heirloom.
- 34:10Speaker 1: It's been passed down from generations.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Her mom originally had it.
- 34:13Speaker 6: Her grandma.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Grandma. She was not that old.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Everything's retro, don't you worry. Just give it a few
- 34:20Speaker 1: years and now you're just being super cool because it's
- 34:23Speaker 1: a little bit out of style. That makes you even cooler.
- 34:26Speaker 5: But she didn't have the chainsaw, and that was the
- 34:28Speaker 5: only thing.
- 34:28Speaker 3: 2012.
- 34:28Speaker 6: 2012, yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 5: That's been a while. That's been how many years?
- 34:33Speaker 1: Doesn't seem like it's been that long in my mind,
- 34:36Speaker 1: but I know math-wise it's going to be scary.
- 34:38Speaker 5: How many years?
- 34:39Speaker 6: 13? 14. 14 years? Yeah. So if a 14-year-old... Wasn't born.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Gave birth, and then her 14-year-old daughter.
- 34:54Speaker 6: I know the daughter wouldn't be 14 by now.
- 34:56Speaker 5: No.
- 34:57Speaker 1: But in the neighborhood.
- 34:58Speaker 6: We are in Kentucky.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:02Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 35:02Speaker 5: She could have been like in her 20s. Like everybody
- 35:06Speaker 5: that's like, I don't know. Now it's like anybody who's
- 35:10Speaker 5: not 40 looks like they're 12 to me. So they
- 35:13Speaker 5: all look like kids.
- 35:14Speaker 6: People who are your age look ancient.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Yeah. What's up with that?
- 35:17Speaker 1: People are old.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:20Speaker 5: That's what that guy asked me. He goes, how old's
- 35:22Speaker 5: your daughter? She a little kid? I was like, no.
- 35:25Speaker 1: To me, yes.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I'll always be a little kid. But he goes,
- 35:29Speaker 5: it's so cute seeing the little kids try to pick
- 35:33Speaker 5: up these swords. And I was like, she's 26.
- 35:37Speaker 1: She can probably pick up this sword.
- 35:38Speaker 5: He's like, oh, okay, yeah, 26. Somebody at work was like,
- 35:44Speaker 5: would you have your kid when you were like 18?
- 35:46Speaker 5: I was like, no. I was like, I think 25
- 35:51Speaker 5: or something like that. 26, I think. Yeah, math.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Time goes on rather quickly, so it would seem.
- 36:00Speaker 6: But anyways.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:04Speaker 1: We want to go into our interactions with people.
- 36:08Speaker 6: I only interacted with one intentionally.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I interacted with two.
- 36:11Speaker 5: I interacted with nobody.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I sat on the floor.
- 36:13Speaker 6: You interacted with me. I wasn't having you either.
- 36:15Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 36:16Speaker 5: What?
- 36:17Speaker 1: We were talking about important celebrity people, obviously.
- 36:19Speaker 5: No, no celebrities. I didn't see anybody.
- 36:22Speaker 6: Do you want to do yours first since yours technically
- 36:23Speaker 6: happened first?
- 36:25Speaker 1: I've been trying to put this together for a long time,
- 36:29Speaker 1: ever since I found out this lady's name.
- 36:31Speaker 6: Ever since the wagon wheeled trains.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Ever since the covered wagon when she rolled into town
- 36:37Speaker 1: because she gave me her entire family history.
- 36:39Speaker 6: You asked for it.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I mean, I did because I'm pretty sure she's my cousin.
- 36:43Speaker 1: So anyway, I found out years ago that the... Body Double,
- 36:48Speaker 1: the stand-in model that they used for Janet Leigh in Psycho,
- 36:53Speaker 1: is named Marley Renfro.
- 36:55Speaker 5: So.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't mention my name that much.
- 36:58Speaker 1: But we have the same last name. And there's barely anybody.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I certainly don't know anybody with that last name. So
- 37:04Speaker 1: I rarely run into people, period, that have that last name.
- 37:07Speaker 6: There was Brad for a while, but then he died.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Yeah, Brad. I mentioned that. I was like, there's not many,
- 37:14Speaker 1: and it was just Brad. And he kind of got...
- 37:17Speaker 1: pretty famous and then not so much real quick so
- 37:20Speaker 1: things did not turn out well for Brad so our
- 37:22Speaker 1: only other option.
- 37:23Speaker 5: Is I don't know Brad he's dead he's dead oh
- 37:26Speaker 5: okay alright didn't turn out well for Brad okay but Marley.
- 37:30Speaker 6: He was an apt pupil wasn't he yeah what else
- 37:32Speaker 6: is he in he's.
- 37:34Speaker 1: In stuff wait a minute I know it it'll take
- 37:38Speaker 1: a minute.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Wasn't that like a courtroom movie?
- 37:42Speaker 1: He's in one of the Grisham movies. The Client?
- 37:46Speaker 5: My Cousin Vinny?
- 37:47Speaker 1: No, The Client's the other one. I don't know. What
- 37:51Speaker 1: the fuck is the one with Scarlett Johansson and Thora Birch?
- 37:54Speaker 6: Ghostland?
- 37:55Speaker 1: Ghostland. No, that's not it, is it? That's Thor. Is
- 37:58Speaker 1: it Ghostland?
- 37:59Speaker 5: Ghost World.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Ghost World. There we go.
- 38:02Speaker 6: I got there. I got part of it right.
- 38:04Speaker 1: He was in Ghost World. So there you go. I
- 38:05Speaker 1: was like, that's the one. He doesn't have a big
- 38:07Speaker 1: part in it, but everybody's kind of a goofy character
- 38:09Speaker 1: in that. So he's like the most subdued.
- 38:11Speaker 5: It's such a weird movie.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I really like it. I loved it at the time. No,
- 38:15Speaker 1: I liked it at the time. But it lands differently
- 38:17Speaker 1: when you're older. If you watch it now, it's a
- 38:19Speaker 1: very different movie.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Because that's the thing. I was like, oh, whatever
- 38:25Speaker 1: that character's name, whatever Thor is named. character's name is
- 38:28Speaker 1: i was like at the time i'm watching it as
- 38:30Speaker 1: like barely out of my teens and i'm just like
- 38:32Speaker 1: yeah she's super cool and she's doing weird things and
- 38:35Speaker 1: like now i watch and i'm like oh man this
- 38:38Speaker 1: this kid like she just doesn't have a clue and
- 38:41Speaker 1: she's like making terrible decisions like now you just watch
- 38:44Speaker 1: it as a grown-up and it's like no she doesn't
- 38:48Speaker 1: know what the hell she's doing she's she's clueless about
- 38:51Speaker 1: life she's trying to make these decisions and won't just
- 38:54Speaker 1: commit and be a grown up while like Scarlett's like,
- 38:56Speaker 1: screw it. I got to get a job. I got
- 38:57Speaker 1: to be a real human being now. Like, so like
- 39:00Speaker 1: you see it to the totally different perspective. You definitely
- 39:03Speaker 1: see the.
- 39:04Speaker 5: I don't know. I'm still making bad decisions.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Oh, I do too. But I'm like, at least now
- 39:08Speaker 1: I'm aware of it. Like when you're a kid, you
- 39:10Speaker 1: don't even realize that stuff. You're just oblivious to what's
- 39:13Speaker 1: going on. Whereas watching it as an grown up now and,
- 39:16Speaker 1: Watching the relationship that blossoms, I'm like, oh no, this
- 39:21Speaker 1: is not gonna go well. So it's like, yeah, everything
- 39:23Speaker 1: is just overwhelmingly obvious when you're an old person watching
- 39:27Speaker 1: that movie.
- 39:28Speaker 5: Yeah, now you're like, this is gonna suck, but I'm
- 39:29Speaker 5: gonna do it. do it anyways.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Yeah, which is how I live most of my life. Bills?
- 39:35Speaker 5: Fuck bills. I'm going to buy Transformers. Debt?
- 39:37Speaker 1: Screw that. Watch me make these bad financial decisions. And
- 39:43Speaker 1: I do. So, yes, Brad. Also made a lot of
- 39:48Speaker 1: bad decisions and is not with us now. But Marley
- 39:52Speaker 1: is super cool and is still around and is, man,
- 39:55Speaker 1: she is hanging in there. She was on top of things.
- 39:58Speaker 1: She's signing her autographs. But yeah, she didn't do a
- 40:02Speaker 1: ton of stuff in showbiz. Like she was in a
- 40:04Speaker 1: dancing profession, we'll say. And they just found her and
- 40:09Speaker 1: were like, we need somebody to be the body double.
- 40:11Speaker 1: And she came in and worked on Psycho. And that's
- 40:14Speaker 1: most of her Hollywood story.
- 40:16Speaker 6: 88. She's 88. That's how I just read it.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 6: 88, man.
- 40:20Speaker 1: It's hardcore. So again, I went up there and was like, hey,
- 40:24Speaker 1: you're possibly my cousin. I'm just saying.
- 40:26Speaker 6: She got a discount on that autograph.
- 40:28Speaker 1: She didn't throw it out. She didn't be like, you're
- 40:30Speaker 1: a liar. So she at least acknowledged it and was like, whatever, weirdo.
- 40:36Speaker 1: And then told me her history of where her family
- 40:38Speaker 1: came in on the covered wagons and where they settled
- 40:42Speaker 1: at the time and how she ended up with that name.
- 40:46Speaker 6: Did you work your way into her will?
- 40:48Speaker 1: I kept waiting to see. I would like to think so,
- 40:51Speaker 1: but I like to think that of most people out there,
- 40:53Speaker 1: so far none of it has happened. But yeah, she
- 40:57Speaker 1: was very cool. And I'm glad I got to. Again,
- 40:59Speaker 1: I wasn't sure I'd seen her do appearances, but they
- 41:02Speaker 1: were usually further west. So I was like, I don't
- 41:04Speaker 1: know if she's ever going to get this far.
- 41:06Speaker 6: And she showed up. Well, she saddled up the fucking
- 41:09Speaker 6: covered wagon.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Covered wagon.
- 41:12Speaker 6: And she wazzied her way on out of here.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Long little doggies.
- 41:16Speaker 6: I don't know what's a chuck wagon.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Do you know what a chuck wagon is?
- 41:19Speaker 6: What is the technical definition of a chuck wagon?
- 41:22Speaker 1: I mean, it's a real thing, but then it just
- 41:23Speaker 1: became dog food.
- 41:24Speaker 5: It's the little wagon that comes out of the cabinets.
- 41:27Speaker 1: It's a chuck wagon. Again, this only makes sense to
- 41:30Speaker 1: old people. Because that used to be the commercial.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Dude, I always wished the chuck wagon would have came
- 41:36Speaker 5: out of our cabinet. But it never did.
- 41:37Speaker 6: I have no idea what you're talking about. And I'm
- 41:39Speaker 6: pretty old.
- 41:39Speaker 5: It's the greatest commercial ever. Now I've got to look
- 41:42Speaker 5: it up.
- 41:42Speaker 6: Well, let's not do that.
- 41:43Speaker 5: No, I have to.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's actually like your chow wagon. There
- 41:47Speaker 1: was a wagon that specifically had all the food. And Cookie,
- 41:50Speaker 1: the guy who did all the cooking, I'm guessing.
- 41:52Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 41:52Speaker 1: That was like your standard go-to in any Western. Cookie
- 41:55Speaker 1: was the guy who... who would set up a campfire
- 41:57Speaker 1: and make your beans or whatever. So there was a
- 42:00Speaker 1: wagon that carried all the food. And then by the
- 42:03Speaker 1: 70s and 80s, it was a little tiny version of
- 42:07Speaker 1: that with a checkered covered wagon part, and it would
- 42:10Speaker 1: come out of your cabinet, and your dog would go
- 42:11Speaker 1: chasing it because it wanted the food. Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 6: It came right out of the TV.
- 42:18Speaker 5: It came out of the TV that time. Sometimes it
- 42:20Speaker 5: comes out of the cabinets.
- 42:22Speaker 6: Did Rankin and Bass make this commercial?
- 42:24Speaker 1: We are watching the commercial in case you're wondering.
- 42:26Speaker 5: This is the first time I've seen it come out
- 42:27Speaker 5: of the TV because it always came out of the
- 42:29Speaker 5: cabinets from what I remember.
- 42:32Speaker 6: False memories.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Dog food.
- 42:34Speaker 6: Crunchy bits.
- 42:35Speaker 5: Chuckwagons.
- 42:38Speaker 6: Add warm water to serve your dog.
- 42:39Speaker 5: Yeah, because it made a gravy.
- 42:40Speaker 1: That's a gravy train, y'all. I live by that. Yeah,
- 42:42Speaker 1: that's a gravy train. I bought gravy trains for years.
- 42:46Speaker 6: This episode brought to you by Chuckwagon.
- 42:51Speaker 1: This episode brought to you by Gravy Train. We'll accept
- 42:54Speaker 1: any form of payment. Venmo, check, whatever you want.
- 42:58Speaker 6: A big old bag of Chuck Wagons.
- 42:59Speaker 5: There he goes. There he goes. The dog's like, what
- 43:03Speaker 5: the fuck? It's a ghost wagon? It's a ghost wagon.
- 43:06Speaker 5: It goes straight in there.
- 43:08Speaker 6: It's like a ghost.
- 43:09Speaker 5: It goes right into the cabinet.
- 43:10Speaker 1: The ghost wagon went right into the cabinet, y'all. In
- 43:13Speaker 1: case you haven't looked these up, get yourself a YouTube
- 43:15Speaker 1: and look it up.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Yeah, Chuck Wagons.
- 43:17Speaker 1: These are entertaining.
- 43:18Speaker 6: Get on the YouTube.
- 43:19Speaker 5: It looks like gravy cereal.
- 43:21Speaker 6: Oh, it exploded.
- 43:22Speaker 1: That's pretty exciting.
- 43:25Speaker 6: That's what you want to give your dog.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Exploding dog food.
- 43:30Speaker 5: He's going to explode all over the carpet.
- 43:32Speaker 1: No, no, it went under the rug.
- 43:34Speaker 6: Holy shit.
- 43:34Speaker 1: There's a lot of these variations, and they're pretty entertaining,
- 43:38Speaker 1: I've got to say.
- 43:38Speaker 6: And he ghost wagons himself right back into the cabinet.
- 43:41Speaker 5: Yeah, he goes in the cabinet.
- 43:42Speaker 1: It's a new bag design, though. That's pretty exciting.
- 43:46Speaker 5: Great taste of stew.
- 43:48Speaker 6: No stew I'm ever going to eat. Real meat juices.
- 43:55Speaker 1: This is what we have to do with our time.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Kid had to get up on that. Came out of
- 44:05Speaker 5: the bag.
- 44:06Speaker 1: See, there's many variations of crazy.
- 44:08Speaker 5: Chuck wagon action. That's the puppy chuck wagon. It's for puppies.
- 44:14Speaker 1: And it went in the bag, and it went to
- 44:16Speaker 1: go to the bag and eat the food.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Crazy.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Puppy chuck wagon.
- 44:20Speaker 5: So there you go. Now you've been fully initiated into
- 44:24Speaker 5: the chuck wagon.
- 44:25Speaker 1: All of that circles back around to Psycho. And then
- 44:27Speaker 1: you get in the shower, and you get stabbed by
- 44:29Speaker 1: a chuck wagon.
- 44:30Speaker 6: You use the warm water from the shower to make
- 44:32Speaker 6: your gravy.
- 44:32Speaker 1: To make your gravy right before you get stabbed, and
- 44:34Speaker 1: then you watch the gravy go down the drain.
- 44:36Speaker 6: That's how they made it. Movie magic.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Movie magic. Hitchcock loved him some chocolate.
- 44:44Speaker 6: I would not doubt it.
- 44:46Speaker 5: He liked the gravy.
- 44:47Speaker 1: He made the commercial gravy. He liked the real meat juices.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Real meat juices.
- 44:52Speaker 6: Oh, Jiminy.
- 44:56Speaker 1: So, that was my interaction. We did not discuss dog food,
- 45:00Speaker 1: but she was very cool, and she did sign this photo,
- 45:02Speaker 1: and she did not throw me out for saying I
- 45:04Speaker 1: might be related to her.
- 45:05Speaker 6: And she even spelled your name correctly.
- 45:06Speaker 1: And she did spell my name.
- 45:07Speaker 6: You only had to tell her like four times.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And she has very nice penmanship, so.
- 45:10Speaker 6: People from back in the day did have very nice penmanship.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Yeah, well, because penmanship meant a lot.
- 45:13Speaker 1: She probably wasn't texting back in the day.
- 45:15Speaker 5: That meant a lot back in the day. My grandmother
- 45:18Speaker 5: used to always get on me about my penmanship. She
- 45:20Speaker 5: would always be like, sloppy penmanship means a sloppy person.
- 45:23Speaker 1: And you're like, yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 5: So I'm like, yeah, look, you know me, I'm a
- 45:26Speaker 5: fucking mess.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Did you just meet me? I thought you were my grandma.
- 45:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:29Speaker 5: I don't know. But, yeah, so.
- 45:34Speaker 1: So after I was done talking to her, somebody flagged
- 45:37Speaker 1: me down and was like, I'm going in.
- 45:39Speaker 6: I'm going in. I'm going to do it. I'm going
- 45:40Speaker 6: to ask him questions.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And I was like, well, I know who you're talking about,
- 45:44Speaker 1: and he's going to be super cool. Otherwise, I'd be like, look,
- 45:47Speaker 1: you should probably stay away from the celebrities. You're a
- 45:49Speaker 1: crazy person. But knowing who this was, I was like, nah,
- 45:52Speaker 1: I think we're okay.
- 45:53Speaker 6: Because I had questions, and I knew if anybody could
- 45:56Speaker 6: answer these questions, it would be Ray Wise. Because if
- 46:00Speaker 6: nothing else, he is wise.
- 46:02Speaker 1: He's a wealth of information and knowledge.
- 46:03Speaker 6: And I figure he was there. He's going to know
- 46:05Speaker 6: these things, right? And I don't have a lot of money,
- 46:08Speaker 6: so I'm just going to bust up in there. I
- 46:10Speaker 6: waited until he didn't have a line.
- 46:11Speaker 5: These were set-up questions.
- 46:13Speaker 1: We weren't distracting him.
- 46:14Speaker 5: You were just using them to get near him so
- 46:16Speaker 5: that you could.
- 46:17Speaker 1: I mean, but she knew that was going to happen anyway.
- 46:21Speaker 5: She's like, how can I get close?
- 46:24Speaker 1: To talk to him to my.
- 46:26Speaker 6: True love Rory Wise seriously I mean he is a
- 46:29Speaker 6: handsome man I don't even he's got this charisma about.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Him that he does I'm not going to argue but
- 46:35Speaker 1: I did have questions I stood there very won over
- 46:38Speaker 1: by him as well as I always am because Rory
- 46:40Speaker 1: Wise is.
- 46:41Speaker 6: Awesome he is he has this magnetism you know he
- 46:44Speaker 6: has like there's something about him I don't know what
- 46:47Speaker 6: I think it's just I guess he has this charisma
- 46:50Speaker 6: And it's something that most, I don't think most celebrities
- 46:52Speaker 6: these days have as far as like.
- 46:54Speaker 5: It's an old world charisma.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He's got a good voice, too, once he starts telling
- 46:58Speaker 1: you these stories.
- 46:59Speaker 6: And I was ready. I was listening. I had hands
- 47:01Speaker 6: on my face, chin like this, and my elbows on
- 47:04Speaker 6: the table like, tell me a story. Tell me your ways.
- 47:06Speaker 6: Tell me these things. I want to know. I want
- 47:08Speaker 6: to know. Because I was curious. When we walked by
- 47:10Speaker 6: like the second time, I'm like, hmm. They only did
- 47:13Speaker 6: two seasons of Reaper. I wonder if they had a
- 47:14Speaker 6: third season like planned out or if it got like
- 47:17Speaker 6: scrapped before the third. season script ever made it out,
- 47:21Speaker 6: there was a script. Tell me. Tell me the stories.
- 47:26Speaker 6: Tell me what was going to happen because I love Reaper.
- 47:29Speaker 1: I've got a tattoo.
- 47:30Speaker 6: I've got a tattoo of Ray Weiss as the devil
- 47:32Speaker 6: from Reaper on my fucking arm.
- 47:34Speaker 1: And last time we were at that very convention and
- 47:36Speaker 1: he was there, you specifically swung by the side because
- 47:39Speaker 1: he was on the corner then. You just sort of
- 47:41Speaker 1: swung by and was like, hey, check this out. And
- 47:43Speaker 1: he was like, whoa, look at it. So this time
- 47:45Speaker 1: you're like, I've got my in. Like, I've got my
- 47:48Speaker 1: ticket directly printed on my arm.
- 47:50Speaker 6: I'm sure he has no recollection of that ever happening.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Oh, he probably forgot by now. But you know, like,
- 47:53Speaker 1: as soon as you're like, by the way, look, you're
- 47:55Speaker 1: on my arm, dude. And what did he do?
- 47:57Speaker 6: He got excited.
- 47:57Speaker 1: He was like, yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 6: So he took a picture of it again. Which we
- 48:01Speaker 6: got pictures of him taking pictures this time.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Yeah, this time. Last time we were trying to be respectful. But, like,
- 48:05Speaker 1: since he threw out that can I take a picture option,
- 48:08Speaker 1: then you're like, well, yes. But then we get to
- 48:10Speaker 1: take a picture of you taking a picture of him. Hell, yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Which we did.
- 48:14Speaker 6: I did. After you took pictures of it happening and
- 48:16Speaker 6: I took selfies because I'm like, you know me and
- 48:18Speaker 6: that angle of my chin. I have like five chins
- 48:22Speaker 6: and I don't want any of them in the photo.
- 48:23Speaker 6: So I get the upper angle like the selfie.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Very specific reason that people all take selfies now.
- 48:29Speaker 6: Yeah, to minimize the chin area. But yeah, I had questions.
- 48:33Speaker 6: And then we talked about Twin Peaks and, you know,
- 48:36Speaker 6: the genius of David Lynch.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 6: You know, Bob and, you know, we asked like, cause
- 48:44Speaker 6: everybody knows, well, not everybody. I'm sure some people don't know.
- 48:46Speaker 6: I don't want to pretend like.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Spoilers for a series from 30 years ago that.
- 48:49Speaker 6: You know, the Bob came about accidentally, you know, fucking
- 48:54Speaker 6: Lynch saw Frank Silva reflection in a mirror and large room.
- 48:59Speaker 6: And then just all of a sudden, holy shit, that's Bob.
- 49:01Speaker 6: That's the killer.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Was he wearing the denim jacket? Probably. Cause he had
- 49:05Speaker 1: a very specific uniform.
- 49:07Speaker 6: Because I asked him, I'm like, OK, so if Bob
- 49:09Speaker 6: wasn't officially originally in the script, who who killed Laura
- 49:14Speaker 6: Palmer in the rich? He never wanted anybody to know
- 49:17Speaker 6: there was never going to be like like lockdown.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Is going to be a mystery yeah i was just
- 49:21Speaker 1: listening to something that they were going into lynch in
- 49:24Speaker 1: like a lot of different types of stuff that he
- 49:26Speaker 1: worked on but yeah specifically when they got the twin
- 49:28Speaker 1: peaks they were talking about him dealing with the network
- 49:30Speaker 1: and like he like that just wasn't something that interested
- 49:34Speaker 1: him like he was just like interested in the the
- 49:37Speaker 1: the basic setup of that first pilot, the like who
- 49:39Speaker 1: killed Laura Palmer question, but like also just digging into the,
- 49:43Speaker 1: the whole small town, all the crazy characters in the town.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Like he just wanted to kind of view that and
- 49:49Speaker 1: weave his way through all these crazy stories about the
- 49:52Speaker 1: people in the town. But like, he wasn't worried about
- 49:54Speaker 1: the whodunit part. He was just like, that's just the
- 49:56Speaker 1: setup so I can get in this town and tell
- 49:58Speaker 1: all these stories. So he wasn't, he didn't have it
- 50:00Speaker 1: pinned down from the get go and he kind of
- 50:02Speaker 1: didn't care.
- 50:03Speaker 5: I think it would have been better. if we didn't know,
- 50:05Speaker 5: because not every crime's always solved. Yeah.
- 50:09Speaker 6: And then once you find out who did it, I
- 50:11Speaker 6: lost complete interest in the show.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Takes a hard turn, man.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Mostly because that's, like, the best scene. Like, Ray's scene,
- 50:20Speaker 1: the moment when we find out, and spoilers, he finds out, like,
- 50:24Speaker 1: when all of it kind of comes together, you're just like, oh, oh, and, like,
- 50:28Speaker 1: it's so well done. Like, again, back to Ray being
- 50:31Speaker 1: an amazing actor, like, That scene is so good that, like,
- 50:34Speaker 1: it all is downhill from there. Like, you can't get
- 50:37Speaker 1: more amazing than that moment. And then, like, also the
- 50:40Speaker 1: story takes a weird turn because now it's like, what
- 50:42Speaker 1: are we following then?
- 50:43Speaker 6: You get to do the whole Windham Earl thing. And
- 50:45Speaker 6: I just don't care.
- 50:46Speaker 1: That's almost, like, the better part of that second season. Because, like,
- 50:50Speaker 1: in the middle, they just, like, don't have anything to do.
- 50:52Speaker 1: They're just like, I don't know. Let's follow James around
- 50:55Speaker 1: for a while.
- 50:56Speaker 5: It's on network TV and then. Like early 90s, like what, 1990? Yeah,
- 51:02Speaker 5: so technically the 80s still because, I mean, let's be fair.
- 51:05Speaker 1: It takes a few years to cross over.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Yeah, it always takes a few years to cross over.
- 51:08Speaker 5: And I remember kids in high school talking about Twin Peaks.
- 51:12Speaker 5: And I didn't care about it because back then anything
- 51:16Speaker 5: that was, I guess I'm still kind of that way.
- 51:19Speaker 5: Anything that everybody's talking about generally and they're like, oh,
- 51:22Speaker 5: you got to watch it. I will not watch it.
- 51:25Speaker 5: the fact that you say I need to watch it,
- 51:27Speaker 5: it's going to make me not watch it even more.
- 51:28Speaker 1: So I get that to some extent. And then every
- 51:31Speaker 1: once in a while, I'll just get around to one
- 51:33Speaker 1: and I'll be like, huh, they were right.
- 51:35Speaker 5: Yeah. You know, I still haven't watched fight club.
- 51:38Speaker 1: So my, one of my buddies, everybody's so.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Much shit about that. He's like, dude, you gotta watch
- 51:45Speaker 5: fight club. It's so good. And I was like, I know, but,
- 51:47Speaker 5: You don't know how much I heard that back in
- 51:49Speaker 5: the day when it came out. Everybody was like, you
- 51:52Speaker 5: gotta watch Fight Club.
- 51:53Speaker 1: I feel like that's another one that would change over time.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I feel like if you saw it when you were
- 51:57Speaker 1: like a dumb 19 year old, it would be very
- 51:59Speaker 1: different than seeing it as like an old man watching
- 52:02Speaker 1: the same thing going, wait, what are you doing? Like,
- 52:05Speaker 1: especially as the story broadens and gets bigger and crazier. Like,
- 52:09Speaker 1: so yeah, I don't even know that it would land
- 52:11Speaker 1: right now. I feel like it's one of those that
- 52:13Speaker 1: like when you're the right age for some of that stuff,
- 52:15Speaker 1: like it just hits you and you're like, Oh, this
- 52:17Speaker 1: is the coolest thing ever. I think now even as
- 52:19Speaker 1: good as I think moments of it are, you just
- 52:21Speaker 1: be like, yeah, it's fine.
- 52:23Speaker 6: Yeah. But yeah, the fact that it was on like
- 52:25Speaker 6: regular fucking network television.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:28Speaker 6: I mean, the scenes. Okay. I've still, I've said it
- 52:31Speaker 6: before and I'll see it again. The scenes with Laura
- 52:33Speaker 6: in the fucking box car.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:35Speaker 1: The train car scenes are rough. Like it's a lot.
- 52:38Speaker 5: It's rough now.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 5: You know.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It's still rough.
- 52:42Speaker 6: And the fact that this was on regular, anybody just
- 52:44Speaker 6: flipping through TV could have accidentally landed on that and
- 52:47Speaker 6: had their fucking world traumatized.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 6: Or any scene that had fucking Bob.
- 52:51Speaker 1: I mean, mine still kind of is. Like, I still
- 52:55Speaker 1: have weird images where I'm like, I'm pretty sure Bob's
- 52:57Speaker 1: going to climb over the couch any second now. Like,
- 52:59Speaker 1: it just.
- 52:59Speaker 6: I had this weird half-asleep dream during Christmas time once. Like,
- 53:03Speaker 6: I was on the couch and he was, like, creeping
- 53:04Speaker 6: around my Christmas tree. And ever since then, that image has, like,
- 53:07Speaker 6: stayed in my head. But, yeah, those two, like, anything
- 53:10Speaker 6: with Bob, the train car scene. And the scene with
- 53:12Speaker 6: him and Maddie.
- 53:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Disturbing.
- 53:16Speaker 6: With the dancing and her murder. Spoiler. That's so... Nobody
- 53:22Speaker 6: could have done it like him. It's so fucking brutal
- 53:27Speaker 6: and terrifying and heartbreaking at the same time.
- 53:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:30Speaker 6: And it's just... It's terrifying. That's why I told him.
- 53:36Speaker 6: I'm like, that's literally the first season and a half.
- 53:38Speaker 6: the best TV that's ever aired.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's amazing and holds up now just
- 53:44Speaker 1: as well as it did, if not more, because now
- 53:45Speaker 1: you're more impressed than, like, this was on TV? Network television?
- 53:50Speaker 1: How is this possible?
- 53:53Speaker 6: The fact that he does play that good. Well, he
- 53:55Speaker 6: said he didn't find out that he was Bob until
- 53:57Speaker 6: the day before they shot it.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's what, yeah, they were saying. Like,
- 54:01Speaker 1: they were even sort of, because Lynch didn't really want
- 54:05Speaker 1: to pin anything down. Like, he kept throwing in those, like,
- 54:08Speaker 1: red herrings and other people that they could pin it
- 54:10Speaker 1: on down the line if they wanted to. Because, yeah,
- 54:13Speaker 1: the whole town's weirdos, so, like, it could have been anybody. Like,
- 54:16Speaker 1: they could have pinned it on anybody down the line.
- 54:18Speaker 1: You'd be like, yeah, I guess so. I mean, sure,
- 54:21Speaker 1: they were weird, too. Like, you know, it could have
- 54:23Speaker 1: been anybody. So, yeah, I mean, I think that was
- 54:26Speaker 1: part of it, is he just didn't have that laid
- 54:29Speaker 1: out because he didn't want to go down that road.
- 54:31Speaker 1: And so once they made him, he was like, hmm,
- 54:33Speaker 1: all right, this kind of works.
- 54:34Speaker 6: And then.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I guess we have to deal with the acting part
- 54:38Speaker 1: of it and knowing that this is now saddled.
- 54:41Speaker 6: Because he plays such a sympathetic character. You feel so
- 54:45Speaker 6: bad for Leland.
- 54:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Leland, yeah. I mean, Leland's such a likable character. And
- 54:50Speaker 1: he's dealing with so much trauma in the beginning anyway.
- 54:53Speaker 1: And then the more it unfolds, the harder it gets
- 54:56Speaker 1: to watch.
- 54:57Speaker 6: Mersey-dotes.
- 54:58Speaker 5: And dozy-dotes.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Nothing's cooler than that.
- 55:00Speaker 6: And a little Lamsey-divey.
- 55:01Speaker 5: I could lead Ivy, too.
- 55:02Speaker 6: Wouldn't you?
- 55:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:04Speaker 6: Tell me.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Classic.
- 55:05Speaker 6: I should have asked him when he plans to put
- 55:07Speaker 6: out an album because I would buy that in a heartbeat.
- 55:10Speaker 1: He's a song and dance man.
- 55:12Speaker 6: I'm telling you, I would be there for it. If
- 55:14Speaker 6: he did like a show at the Palace, front row,
- 55:16Speaker 6: I would be there. Give me some very wise on stage.
- 55:18Speaker 6: I always say wise too. I don't know why. I
- 55:21Speaker 6: know it's wise. I don't know why I say it
- 55:23Speaker 6: wrong every fucking time. Yeah, we talked about Reaper being
- 55:28Speaker 6: one of the greatest shows and he wished he could
- 55:30Speaker 6: have played fucking devil forever.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I did tell him, you'll always be the devil to me.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Which he seemed to appreciate.
- 55:38Speaker 6: I was like, so as I asked him, like I
- 55:40Speaker 6: said before, before I got totally derailed, what was the
- 55:43Speaker 6: third season going to be? They were going to hell.
- 55:46Speaker 6: I would watch that. I wonder how the budget would
- 55:48Speaker 6: have been for that. Oh my God.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I mean, that was network, too, so probably not. That's
- 55:52Speaker 1: the thing. Maybe that's why they didn't want to go there.
- 55:54Speaker 1: They were just like, we can't afford to do this.
- 55:57Speaker 6: Or hell, would it just have been like a retail store?
- 55:59Speaker 1: Yeah, which is also kind of true.
- 56:01Speaker 6: Florida.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Florida.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Also kind of true.
- 56:05Speaker 6: A retail store in Florida in July.
- 56:07Speaker 5: In July, yeah.
- 56:09Speaker 6: It would have been like an airbrush store. I was
- 56:13Speaker 6: going to say an airbrush store. Dude.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I think it's Cloud 9.
- 56:18Speaker 5: You know.
- 56:19Speaker 1: That's the secret behind that store. It's actually just hell.
- 56:22Speaker 7: That was... What I was trying to do at one
- 56:28Speaker 7: point was try to get really good at airbrushing so
- 56:30Speaker 7: that I could airbrush t-shirts down on the beach.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Glad that never happened.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Down by the river.
- 56:38Speaker 5: It's a good thing I sucked at airbrushing.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Otherwise, you'd have to be one of those airbrush people.
- 56:46Speaker 5: I know, though. You know, just go hang out at
- 56:47Speaker 5: the beach all day.
- 56:49Speaker 6: I'm glad that my Rewatch tattoo as him as the
- 56:51Speaker 6: devil from Reaper healed up well, because that's where I
- 56:54Speaker 6: got my second degree burn right across this crotch, and
- 56:56Speaker 6: that would have been embarrassing. He'd have been like, why
- 56:59Speaker 6: is the crotch all burned off?
- 57:01Speaker 1: You'd have some explaining to do. Well, let me tell you, buddy.
- 57:09Speaker 6: It healed miraculously well. That's what the devil does for you.
- 57:11Speaker 6: He's my right hand man. I should have said that,
- 57:13Speaker 6: because that's where I got it. It's on my right arm,
- 57:15Speaker 6: my right wrist. He's my right hand man. Hmm. So somewhere,
- 57:20Speaker 6: I don't know if he'll, he didn't post the last
- 57:22Speaker 6: time he took a picture of it, but yeah.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 57:24Speaker 1: He has those photos somewhere.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Lost in a phone.
- 57:29Speaker 6: He was just so sweet. And then I got pictures.
- 57:31Speaker 6: I took selfies. And I guess we already talked about that.
- 57:33Speaker 6: And really bad pictures of me with like being gross
- 57:35Speaker 6: and fat, but that's just me. But I'm still stoked.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Ray's awesome.
- 57:40Speaker 5: You came out and showed me. I was like, you've seen.
- 57:43Speaker 5: You scammed photos with him. You didn't pay, did you?
- 57:46Speaker 5: And you're like, no.
- 57:47Speaker 1: It was a trade-off. He got to take pictures of you.
- 57:50Speaker 1: You got to take pictures of him. That's a fair trade.
- 57:53Speaker 6: That or he just forgot that I didn't pay.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:55Speaker 1: That might be the case, too. Whatever.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Hey, wait a minute. She didn't pay.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Stop it.
- 57:59Speaker 5: I did.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I ran off right afterwards.
- 58:01Speaker 6: Like, we're done. Thank you. Bye.
- 58:02Speaker 1: And we're out.
- 58:08Speaker 6: He's so delightful. He was the highlight of the convention
- 58:12Speaker 6: for me.
- 58:13Speaker 1: At some point, I was going to see if you'd
- 58:16Speaker 1: watched anything interesting. That's a good tie-in to one of mine,
- 58:19Speaker 1: if you'd like to roll into that.
- 58:20Speaker 6: Does it have Ray Wise in it?
- 58:22Speaker 1: I said his name almost correctly. Many sort of characters
- 58:26Speaker 1: related to him. Directly. Have you seen, because this is
- 58:32Speaker 1: one of those, I love Lynch, and I've seen most
- 58:34Speaker 1: of the stuff, but there was one that for years
- 58:37Speaker 1: I just kept putting off, and I finally was like, no,
- 58:40Speaker 1: damn it, I need to get this watched. Have you
- 58:43Speaker 1: seen Inland Empire?
- 58:44Speaker 6: No.
- 58:46Speaker 1: That's, I think, most people. Even people that are into Lynch.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I feel like it's one of those that fell in
- 58:50Speaker 1: that weird cavern in the middle there before.
- 58:52Speaker 6: I don't think I've ever even heard of it.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Oh, it's... I mean, it's one of the last, like,
- 58:55Speaker 1: big movies he did. Because, I mean, he just started
- 58:58Speaker 1: doing his weird... That's the thing. Like, he... None of
- 59:00Speaker 1: them would go well, usually. Like, even the stuff that, like,
- 59:04Speaker 1: was successful usually wasn't successful initially. It would just, it's cult-founded,
- 59:08Speaker 1: because he's a cult kind of guy, but, like, most
- 59:11Speaker 1: of the stuff didn't go over well in the box
- 59:13Speaker 1: office setup, and, like, this was the last, like, kind
- 59:16Speaker 1: of big attempt for him at doing that, and then
- 59:19Speaker 1: he just started working on his weird other stuff, and
- 59:21Speaker 1: all of his art projects, and painting, and then he
- 59:23Speaker 1: came back and did the TV series, and, like, so,
- 59:26Speaker 1: He really didn't do a ton of like big movies
- 59:28Speaker 1: like this was sort of that last attempt. But yeah,
- 59:32Speaker 1: I finally got to it and it is maybe the
- 59:35Speaker 1: most Lynch, like maybe the most genuine Lynch since Eraserhead.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Like it is just weird and follows almost, I mean,
- 59:45Speaker 1: it's got a plot sort of. But it veers from
- 59:49Speaker 1: it whenever the hell he wanted to.
- 59:51Speaker 6: That's most Lynch things.
- 59:52Speaker 1: He will go into his own other side things. Sometimes
- 59:56Speaker 1: it's connected. Sometimes it's with characters you know. Sometimes not.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Sometimes you're like, is this a dream sequence now? Is
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: this a musical number? What are we doing now? It'll
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: take a weird turn and you'll be like, oh look,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: here's some other characters we know. So yeah, it works
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: in a lot of the regulars. It's got your Grace
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Zabreski and Laura Dern's The Star. So we've got a
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: lot of his regulars.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: Is Kyle McLaughlin in it?
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think he was off doing
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: other stuff at the time. But he does work in
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Dying Lead. And he does work in like.
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: Is anybody else from Twin Peaks in it?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Harry Dean. He's from Firewalk with me.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Oh yeah. Which we also discussed at David Bowie. And
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: I loved that.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: We talked to Ray Weiss about David. And I was like.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure that David Bowie was never actually a human.
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: He actually was an alien because that would make more sense.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, he was an alien. He might be
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: an alien. So we might have pieced that one together.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: But yeah, so it's got a great cast as most
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: of the Lynch things do. And then you get there
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: and you're like, yep, this is all kinds of Lynch.
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: Okay, you say you've seen quite a bit of Lynch.
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: What do you think would be the most normal thing
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: he's ever done? I mean... And I mean normal, like...
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: You wouldn't know it's a Lynch movie because it's so normal.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I mean, the most normal, I guess, is probably Elephant Man, truthfully.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: As weird a subject matter as that is, if you
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: know Lynch enough, you see his signature shots and his
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: signature themes and stuff that pop up. But, I mean,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: it's certainly more arthouse-y. You know, it's black and white.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: It's a weird artsy subject kind of thing. So, I mean, like,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: it's not mainstream. But I feel like that's the one
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: you could just, like, throw it on for somebody that
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: likes those kind of movies. And they wouldn't immediately know
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: it's Lynch. They'd be like, oh, this is some cool
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: artsy movie.
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: And then what do you think would be something that
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: would pass for the most mainstream movie from Lynch?
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I mean, straight story. Truthfully, that's the most normal. That's
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: his G-rated movie, for God's sake.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Which one is it?
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: He made it with Disney.
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: Which movie?
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: The straight story.
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: I've never heard of it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Or a straight story. It's... Richard Farnsworth wants to go
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: see his brother across the country, and he doesn't have
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: a car, so he gets on his riding lawnmower and
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: rides across the country.
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: George Jones is that shit?
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he just gets on a riding lawnmower.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: I remember hearing about that.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's one of those that people watching are
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: just like, what the hell is this? And how is
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: this connected to David Lynch? It's so not his normal thing,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: and it's G-rated for God's sakes, and it's so insane
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: that that's, Somehow the weirdest thing he did is the
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: least weird thing that he did. Because to me, I
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: feel like the most functional is maybe like Blue Velvet.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Like it's still as weird as the visuals are. It
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: still plays through and it's.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: More or less one.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I still love Blue Velvet. Blue Velvet's favorite film. That
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: may be like the most perfectly put together story. And again,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I think it rolls right into that season of Twin Peaks.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Like they're almost hand in hand. Like they're very similar
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: in tone. They've got sort of that same vibe to
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: them about, you know, a small town. But what's going
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: on underneath is the crazy stuff. It's the crazy shit, yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: It's definitely like the one-two punch of those two is
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: maybe the most accessible, I think, people. Again, it's super
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: violent and hardcore for the Blue Velvet version of it.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: So I think it's like the watered-down version became Twin
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Peaks because it's, at least you could show it on television.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: It wasn't.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Your main character wandering out in somebody's front yard naked,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you know, it was just brutal.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: It was one of those movies that like, before I
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: got into like kind of that style of movies was
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: just one that I rented just cause I was like, okay,
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: this seems kind of weird. You know, it was back when,
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: you know, uh, I had already watched all the martial
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: arts movies that the little, uh, corner store had bought, uh,
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: And so I was getting into the other movies that
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: they had up there that I'm like, well, I've never
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: fucking heard of this, so I'm going to watch it.
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: And so, yeah, I watched it and was just like.
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: Holy shit.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Holy shit. Yeah, I was probably in my early 20s, maybe. Yeah,
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: early 20s, if not maybe younger than that. Hell, I
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: might have been 19, you know, and just watched it
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: and was like, what the fuck did I just watch?
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: I feel like I was already exposed to Lynch. I
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: think I might have gone back and watched it after
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Twin Peaks because I don't remember watching it and not
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: knowing it was Lynch. I feel like I knew that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: it was David Lynch and already kind of was familiar.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: With who David Lynch was. I didn't know that was
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: who he was. I didn't know anything. I remember seeing
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: that movie and then I think later, like years later,
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: I watched Eraserhead. And then was like, holy shit, okay,
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: this is the guy who did that other movie that
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: I watched. And I watched it enough times that I started, like,
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: really getting into it and, like, I guess, you know,
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: you go back and you see things that you didn't
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: see and you understand the characters a little bit better
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: and stuff like that. And it's like. you know at
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: the time you well i mean at the time i
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: was still young so i definitely identified with the kyle
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: mclaughlin character getting sucked into oh yeah fucking crazy ass
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: shit and you're along for this ride of like what
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: the hell is going on you know oh really yeah
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: and then i think we saw lost highway in the
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: in the theater.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Yeah i definitely saw that one in the.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: Theater yeah and uh So then it was like, oh, okay, well,
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: this guy's making some pretty interesting stuff, so I'm going
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: to start watching more of it and kind of, you know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: getting more into his work and stuff. And again, I
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: didn't see Twin Peaks all the way through, I think,
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: until I met you.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Yeah. You know?
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: You're welcome.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Yeah, we actually sat and watched. She's like, we're going
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: to sit and watch it. Because I was like, I
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: had heard of it, but at that point I still
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: hadn't really sat down and watched it because... I mean,
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: I didn't have time like through most of my, I'm
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: not a TV watching person.
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: No.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: And pretty much all my life I've been like outdoors.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: So either, either I've been out skating like all through
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: the nineties or like the late nineties I was training,
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: I was in the gym. So I was always in
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: the gym and it wasn't until, you know, like, I mean,
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: being you first got together, um, that, um, that I
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: actually sat down and would actually watch shows cause I
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: didn't have time to watch shows.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Also, you didn't have that option. Like now everything's accessible.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Back then, once it went off TV, like the only
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: thing is again at the video store, we sold the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: box set and like people would come in and pay
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: up 130 bucks or something for a VHS box set.
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: I didn't have money for box set. I didn't even
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: have money for a DVD player.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: And for a while, it was just the first season.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: It was its own mini box. And then eventually, they
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: did the whole run of it, except the pilot, because
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: you couldn't get the pilot, which was weird and frustrating
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: for people.
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: Yeah, that was weird. Because when Lynch passed away, that's
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: when we decided we were going to watch Twin Peaks again.
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: And I went to the box set, and I put
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: the first disc in, and it starts with, like, Laura
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: Palmer's already been found.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: We're eating donuts already. What's going on here?
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: And then I'm like, And I'm like, wait a second.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: I've got probably a bootleg copy of it.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: You got the weird movie that they put out. Because
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: that's the thing. They then, because I think in other
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: countries they didn't have the TV show running, so they
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: just took the pilot and turned it into a movie.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: So they slapped, they like shot this extra like 15
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: minutes or so and slapped it on the end, which
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: closed the case. And okay, we're done now. Like, I
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: think it was a while later when they put that
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: together because I think it was already after the Leland reveal,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: more or less. So they just sort of slapped this
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: ending on it and put out this, you know, two-hour
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: thing on VHS and called it Twin Peaks the movie.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: And that was, like, the international version for a while.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Other countries, that's all they had.
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: No, mine was just the pilot. It wasn't that version.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: So yours was a bootleg because I don't think they
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: ever officially until eventually now when they did, like, the
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: whole box set, you got a real pilot.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Like, back in the day, it was just a weird VHS,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: and people would always come in asking about it, and we,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: being the geeks that we were, we'd have to give
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: them a whole explanation. Be like, okay, yes, this is
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: the pilot, but either stop it 15 minutes from the end,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: or know that you're going to see stuff that doesn't
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: make any sense when you then go to the first episode. Like, just,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: you had to explain it to people, because it was
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: a whole convoluted thing.
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: I've mentioned before the girl who got pissed at me
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: for spoiling the whole show for her, right?
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I mean, that happens.
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: I still.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I get it to some extent. Cause there are things
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: that I'm listening to now and all people like are
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: talking about old movies. I'm like, Hey, I haven't watched that.
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: No, this was like literally like she was reading the
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: Laura Palmer diary. And I said, does it tell who
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: kills her? And she's like, what?
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Yeah. And I'm like, she is really out of the loop.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: If you don't know, like that was the tagline. Who
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: killed Laura Palmer? Exactly.
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: And she got really upset at me. And this was like,
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: I would say at least 96, 97. And she got
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: upset with me for like spoiling that Laura Palmer was dead.
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: Because she's reading the diary.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: How do you know what? It is enough to have
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: the diary.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: She probably just thought she was just reading some teen
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: girl's diary.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Yeah, like she just found this diary and be like, oh,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I'm going to read this.
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: How do you go into it without at least knowing
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: that Laura... How do you come up... How do you
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: happen upon it and just be like, I'm going to read.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: Laura Paul's diary. So, what year again? 1997. She couldn't
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: Google it.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: That's why.
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: She couldn't Google it. There was no internet presence for it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: It had already been off the air. So, chances are
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: if she hadn't heard about it, because not everybody heard
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: about it, because a lot of it was word of
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: mouth or network TV. So, it is a good possibility that...
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: that she just picked it up as a book and
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: was like, oh, this is probably some teen girl's diary
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: talking about boy crushes and stuff like that. I think
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: I'll read it.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: She was super goth. Why was she?
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Yeah, she's failing. You're a failed goth if you don't
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: know who Laura Palmer is. Come on. Her whole image
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: is a dead body. Come on, man.
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe somebody was like, oh, you're goth? Well, you
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: need to read this.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: And she was like, really? Never heard of it.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: Oh, well.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Do your homework, girl.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe there's a part where she goes to Hot
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Topic and.
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: Dude, seriously.
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: She didn't talk to me for like a week.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Because you ruined her life.
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: Apparently. Yeah, whatever. She probably went home and listened to
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: some sad music and cried or something.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Listened to some Cure.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: That'd make me cry too.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: For those who don't know it, Misty doesn't like the Cure.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: Fuck the Cure. Except for that one song from the
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: Crow soundtrack.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: That one's pretty good. I like most of them. You
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: just always reference the worst of their songs.
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: Because that's all I ever fucking hear. And whenever I
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: hear him, all I see is his face, and I
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: hate it.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: I like The Cure.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I'm fine with the old version. Now I'm just disturbed
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: because I see him and I forget that he's an
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: old man. I'm like, oh God, what happened to him? Oh,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: that's right. It's been 30 years. I've forgotten.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: I try to ignore all that, but no, like early Cure.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: But they're back now. They've got a new album, for
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: God's sakes.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: I don't care.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I just forget, and then I see him on stage, like,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: rocking out with Olivia Rodrigo. I'm like, wait, what happened?
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. 30 years happened.
- 1:11:15Speaker 6: Who's that old witch from the woods?
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: I'm just like, what happened? Oh, yeah, time.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: So I got to be staring at the sea and
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: disintegration and wish, and then that's just what it's going
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: to be for me.
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: And that's, again, that's what's on my phone, right? Yeah.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I have.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: Those three albums.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: And they'll come up. That's the thing. I don't actively
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: listen to them, but I'll put it on the random
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: mix option, and they'll come up, and I'll be like,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Oh man, this is awesome. Oh shit, I forgot.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: I forget.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: I don't seek them out and then I'm like 20
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: minutes into it and I'm like, oh, this album's badass.
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: I'm like, shit.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: So yeah, I forget. They're pretty cool.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: Misty just doesn't like them.
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: But that's okay because there's a lot of things that
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Misty doesn't like that I like.
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: There's a lot. There's a lot of things that I
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: like that you don't like.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't hate it.
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: I'm sure there's something that I like that you hate.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: What?
- 1:12:04Speaker 6: I don't know. Lima beans? Or Butter Beans. I don't
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: love Butter Beans.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: It's not that I hate them. It's not that I'm like,
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: I wish death upon Butter Beans.
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: Have I ever wished death upon?
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Death to Butter Beans.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: No, but I've never been like, I fucking hate Butter Beans.
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: Dude, I'm pretty sure you've had that reaction more than once.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: No, I'm just like, I don't really like Butter Beans.
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: I know there's a lot of people that do, and
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: that's cool. So, whatever.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: This is a weird stance to land on.
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: Yeah, you know. But I mean, it's like with a
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: lot of things. I'm just like, if other people are
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: into it and it's cool, then it's cool for them.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: And they're having a good time and enjoying it. Then
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: that's cool.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: Well, they can just enjoy their Robert Smith and the
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: Cure away from me because I don't want to hear it.
- 1:12:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. I skip the songs when they come
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: on the Spotify.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Sometimes until you don't. And then I'm like, what the
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: fuck is this shit?
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: Oh, wait. Sometimes I try to see how long it
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: takes for a director.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: It usually doesn't take very long.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: She's like, what is this? Who else do you not like?
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: You don't like Joy Division.
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: That one specific song.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Pretty similar mood, I'll give you.
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: That's what I thought your go-to was going to be
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: when she goes home to listen to it.
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: You know, I like the Smiths. I just don't really
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: like Morrissey.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: And he's a big part of the Smiths. I feel
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: like that's most people. Like, they're hardcore people, but everybody
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: else is just like, eh, bad guy. That's always been
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: my take on it.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: But that's just me. I'm not saying Morrissey's a bad
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: person or anything like that. He's a wuss.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: He's a wussy.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: There's a lot of people.
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: That's a quote from Beavis and Butthead directly. Yeah.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: There's a lot of people that like him and this stuff.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: And that's cool.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: That's fine. That's fine.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Whatever. I will go to, I had a, I had
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: a random, uh, like live again, this was on CD
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: and it was a CD of like a mixture of this, uh,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: company that was putting stuff out. And at the time
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: they had Rollins sign. I think it was still Rollins
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: band maybe. And then, um, there was like a live
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: track with him and he's on stage talking to people.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I know it's shocking. Rollins talking to people on a
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: mic that never happens.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: So he's talking to people in between the song, and
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: he goes, people are, he's like, for some reason, somebody
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: must have brought up, like, the Smiths. And he's like,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: his response to Morrissey was, ah, come on, man, lighten up.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: So listening to Henry Rollins say that, I was like, well,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: I mean, that's got to officially be my stance on
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Morrissey for the rest of my life. Ah, come on, man,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: lighten up.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: Like, you want Morrissey to lighten up, or people to
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: lighten up on their hatred for Morrissey?
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: No, I think that was just his personal advice to Morrissey.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Come on, man, lighten up.
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it's even like Henry Rollins. It's like,
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: I love a lot of the black flag stuff and
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: I like a lot of like the early Rollins van stuff.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: And there's some stuff that I don't agree with it
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: that Henry like talks about, but that's cool because we
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: all have our own opinions.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: He talks a lot, but he also has a very
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: different take on things than pretty much anybody. So, It's
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: one of those, yeah, like, I don't even totally agree
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: with a lot of the, like, stuff that he, like,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: likes to do. Like, the way he likes to look
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: at everything seems weird to me sometimes. But I'm totally fascinated. Like,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: he's such an interesting dude.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: He's got a different perspective on life. And, you know,
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: it's like, I have a different perspective on life because
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: of all the things I've gone through. And Misty has
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: a different perspective on life because of all the experiences
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: that she's gone through. So we all have different experiences
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: in just the way we view things. doesn't necessarily mean
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: it's all wrong or anything like that.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: And that's what I think is cool with him. He
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: always seems super respectful, too.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: I think he can be respectful about it without just
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: coming out and being like, you're fucking stupid.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Except to Morrissey. But everybody else, he seems super cool
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: with like, hey man, you do you. Go do your thing.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: I'm going to go over here.
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: I do have a problem with one opinion he had
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: about something. He was dating some girl and she had
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: some kind of book on her shelf that was some
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: kind of fluff or something. It was something like, I
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: don't know, Twilight or something, which I am not a
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: fan of Twilight. but if girl was and he's like
- 1:15:54Speaker 6: and then i broke up with her because i'm not
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: gonna be with a girl who reads that kind of
- 1:15:56Speaker 6: shit i'm like.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Who cares i mean that's your call man yeah i
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: certainly wouldn't do such a thing but i don't know
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: how to read so what i know but i got
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: picture books i did just buy a picture book in
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: the last month or two it had a lot of
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: nice pictures.
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: But either way i mean you know i'm reading is
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: reading reading.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: At least she's reading but you know it's like It's
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: both maybe, hey, you know, he doesn't want to be
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: with her and that's cool. And he saved her the
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: misery of being with a guy that doesn't get what
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: she's into.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: See, I prefer the John Waters school of thought on that.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: If you go over to somebody's house and they don't
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: have books on their shelf, don't fuck them. I was like,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: that's cool. And I got a loophole because I have
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: a lot of books. I don't read anything, but as
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: a hoarder and an accumulator of things, I have a
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: lot of books. So I got a loophole on that one.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: This reminds me of a completely unrelated song by the
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: Smut Peddlers that's called You Got a Great Body, But
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: Your Record Collection Sucks.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Hey, these are rough situations we all get ourselves into.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: But smut peddlers are great. Actually, they're probably really horrible.
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: But I like them.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: At one point, you like them.
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: No, I still like them. They're really kind of crass.
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: But I like shit that's kind of offensive. So, whatever.
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: You like me? Yeah. I am chock full of offensive.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Well, I watched that. Have you guys seen anything lately?
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: No. No.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: I know that's usually the go-to anymore. But then occasionally
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: you remember that you watched a thing that you forgot
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: to watch.
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: No, we haven't watched anything.
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: I mean, me and Mel watched some movies. I watched
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: Lisa Frankenstein.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys watched that.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Did you like it?
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: I loved it. It was so cute. Nice. And it
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: was so fun. You didn't watch it.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: No, I didn't watch it.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: I was skating. That was one of.
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: Our first coloring dates. Now we're solving murders. We've moved
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: on past the coloring and stuff.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: You've got to ease your way in with some coloring first.
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: We watched Lisa Frankenstein. We had the flashback thing. mini
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: marathon of like labyrinth and uh i forget what else
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: we watched well another one of the classics probably never
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: any story.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Yeah i was gonna say my go-to would be never
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: any story.
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: And a legend yeah yeah at the time can't go
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: wrong with legend Can't.
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: Go wrong with some of that Tom Cruise inner thigh.
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: I'm so creeped out by Tom Cruise's inner thigh.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: I've never been thrilled with Tom in that movie. But,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: I mean, you can't watch anything else except Darkness. Darkness
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: is the movie for me.
- 1:18:29Speaker 6: He is the movie.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: He is the movie for me. I mean, Tim Curry.
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: In that is just phenomenal.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: That's one of those that I think it says a
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: lot about me that for some reason that's on my
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: feed all the time now is Tim Curry. And it
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: keeps showing me clips. Are you complaining? No. But I'm
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: saying it says so much about me because Tim Curry...
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: from back in the day is on my feed because
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: it keeps showing me clips of him. There's like, it
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: might've been this morning. There was a clip of him on,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: some show and like based on like his hair, I'm like,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I think this was his rockstar seventies era.
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: Is it from his actual Instagram page or whatever?
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. I think it's just, I
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: don't know what it was from. It was something else
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: that got like bounced from some other thing to my feed.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: And I was sitting there watching that and I'm like, man,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: he's good in this. He's good in everything. And then like,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: he's Tim Curry. But then the other day, like it
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: bounced to, um, the, the, think early 90s or mid
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: 90s he had a sitcom on network television and I
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: think it was with John Ritter it was the weirdest
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I think Annie Potts is in it like I'm just
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: watching this going what what the hell is this and
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: how did.
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: It make it from his official Tim Curry psych is
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: that the rock star you're talking.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: About rock star when maybe the middle one right there
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: next to it like that's the one I saw maybe
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: this morning like it was recent just saw that.
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: One he is a magnificent creature he's just so damn cool.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Like I, and again, that's one of those things that
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: comes up on my phone. I have like, they did
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: a CD of his greatest hits that I had that
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: was like, I've had for the last 25 years or so.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: And like, it's always been on whatever I load my
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: music into that Tim Curry CD goes in there and
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: like his stuff will come up and some of it
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: is super cheesy. And then there's other ones that I'm like,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: he's just so damn good. Like he would just lay
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: into these lyrics. And I'm just like, Damn, this is
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: your showstopper, man. Look at you. Like, he's just so
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: cool at everything he does. So, Tim Curry. I'm on board.
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. Majestic creature.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: That's a weird one I was going to see if
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you saw. This is not exactly movie related, but movie tangent,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: thanks to the Tim Curry tangent. Have you seen the
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: new Rocky Horror stage show they're doing?
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: No.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: It is interesting. It's the Rocky Horror show, so they're
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: doing it. I don't know if it's full on Broadway
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: or just off Broadway, but it's like the big show
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: in I think it was New York.
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: Is there any names attached to it?
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I'll have to bring up the whole rundown here,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: but I know the, I think Columbia is Juliette Lewis.
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: That's a weird one, but I can kind of see it.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: Yeah. And then, I'm trying to think, I think they're
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: just calling it the narrator. I don't think she gets
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: to be Crim, but it was Rachel Drash. I was like,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: that's kind of cool. That's a weird direction to go.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: But yeah, Guillermo from The Vampire Show is Eddie, of course.
- 1:21:24Speaker 6: I don't like that.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: I mean, it seems fitting.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: He's not a badass.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's got the hair, you know. All you
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: gotta have is the hair and put on a leather jacket.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: I mean, you're not on stage for long, don't worry.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: It's Eddie, for God's sakes.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: Yeah, but still. Eddie at least had some street cred.
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: I mean, not that Meatloaf did, but you know.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Meatloaf had some street cred, let me tell you.
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: I know, I'm trying to play like I didn't, but whatever.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: He was super cool, too.
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: Okay, but who's playing Frank? It's not Adam Lambert.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: No, but it's, I don't know. It was another one
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: of those people. Like half the people, I was just like,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: they look kind of familiar, but I don't know.
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: You can't leave me hanging, dude.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: I'm looking it up. Hold on.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Patience.
- 1:22:05Speaker 6: Since when have I had patience?
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Trying to poke at it with this finger while I'm
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: looking at shit.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: I Googled him. Now he's the first thing that comes
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: up is the Tim Curry.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Luke Evans is Frankenfurter. So no, it is magenta.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Juliette Lewis is magenta, which doesn't seem.
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: No, I can picture her more as Columbia.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, that's a weird move.
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: Luke Evans, is he the... I think I know who
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: he is.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Andrew Durant is Brad.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: Dr. Scott.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Okay, so Harvey is on stage a lot because he's
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Eddie and Dr.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: Scott.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: Weird.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I guess, again, because Eddie has no stage time. He's
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: just like, here, I'll give you this role, too.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: How about that?
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know. I just thought it was
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: kind of interesting that they're still trying to make that
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: come back around. It never fully goes away. The Rocky lifestyle, man.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: It's always out there.
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: Who's going to be playing Rocky? Rocky, Rocky, rah, rah, rah.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: We have the Phantoms. The Swings.
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: Who?
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: The rest of the random weirdos. Yay rich weirdos.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: Who's playing Riff Raff? I mean... Richard O'Brien's not doing anything.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I was going to say, he's still out there because
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: I saw, again, that popped up on my feed too.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: It was his birthday the other day. It says, again,
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: a lot about me. Amber Gray.
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: I don't know who that is.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: See, that's what I'm saying. Some of these are more
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: like probably Broadway people.
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: She's playing Rocky?
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: No, Riff Raff.
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: Of course, they got to change the gender.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: They always do. Have you never been to Rocky? That's
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: the whole thing. Gender bender. That's the whole life.
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: Because Riff Raff was the butler and Magenta was the maid.
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: If you're going to swap it, then you have to
- 1:23:50Speaker 6: have Magenta be a dude. Because that way somebody, I mean,
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: you can't just swap one and not the other.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Josh Andres Riviera from Hunger Games, Songbirds and Snakes. So
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: you don't know that. You're one of these old people.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: You don't know the new Hunger Games. Anyway, he is
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Rocky in the Broadway revival. So I guess it is
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: officially Broadway.
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: I'll be damned.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: That's cool. I don't know. I just thought it was
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: interesting that it's still out there. Probably not bringing Tim in,
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: although he could do Krem now. He could. He could
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: do Dr. Scott. Because he's still charming as hell.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: He is.
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: I mean, he's going to be doing his own narration
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: on his autobiography that he just put out. So, I mean,
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: he obviously can still, like, perform to some degree.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Because he's cool like that. Well, if you haven't watched
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: anything else, I can tell you the other one that
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: I started watching this morning. And I have to finish.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: But it's an epic, so it's going to take a while.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Have you seen Bridge on the River Kwai?
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: It's been a long time.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I feel like, again, I was thinking maybe years ago,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: maybe we'd seen it as a group at some point.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: But I didn't know if, Jay, you had seen it
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: because it's kind of a war movie.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: Yeah, a long time ago.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: But I also had to look it up, too, because
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: I'm watching and I'm like.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: There's a bridge.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: There is a bridge.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: There's a fallen down bridge in the beginning because they
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: keep trying to make it in the wrong spot.
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: But yeah, I was watching it and I was trying
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: to figure out where the hell they're at. Cause I'm like,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: I had to like stop for a second and be like, wait, where?
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: Cause I'm like, it's a Japanese camp towards the like
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: mid to end of World War II. But I'm like,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: this terrain doesn't look like they're in Japan. And then
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: there's all these other characters that are prisoners that aren't
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: the British American guys. So I'm like, what are these
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: guys doing here? So then I looked it up. It's
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Thailand is where they are. where they're at. So I
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: was like, Oh, well that kind of makes sense.
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: There's a bunch of ties that don't like the Japanese. Yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: My mom being one of them, she still doesn't.
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: Like Japanese people.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: She doesn't like Indian people.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: She don't like Indians either.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: That's the other thing. I'm watching them as they're like
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: on the map and pointing to their plan. I'm like,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: wars are stupid. Like this just went on forever. And
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: they're like trying to explain what they're doing. And I'm like,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: do you guys even know what the.
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Hell you were doing?
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: At the time, Japan was trying to take over all
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: of Asia. And, uh, now China's trying to take over
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: all Asia.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: So it's always, it never goes out of style.
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: You know, it's, uh, everybody's like, uh, U S and war.
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, there's other countries that have been doing
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: war too, since the beginning. So, but, but nobody ever
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: picks up a history book.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: Humans. This is what we do.
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: Yeah. That's what we do, but we just, we, we
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: fight people and that's what it is. It's what it's
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: always been. You know, we, uh, since the dawn of time, we've, uh,
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: taking resources and taking people and, you know, uh, subjugated
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: them and taking their land and shit like that. And that's, uh,
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: that's what we've done since the dawn of time.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: It's human nature.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: It's human nature from the time of cavemen, you know,
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: all the way through the dark ages and all the
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: way up to now, you know, now we see the
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: same thing going on in the Middle East. We're trying
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: to take, you know, we're trying to take over Iran.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: So, you know, But more importantly, you get to see
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Alec Guinness be a badass.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. It has been a long time since I've
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: seen that movie.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: It's one of those I kept meaning to rewatch anyway,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: and then I ran across, once again, far be it
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: for me to not buy physical media. I saw like
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: a super deluxe Blu-ray version of it for cheap, and
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I was like, ah, damn. All right, fine. This is
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: my excuse to watch it. So, yeah, I started watching
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: that this morning. I'm like, cool. I've seen him in
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: other stuff. I went back and watched some of the old, like,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: Lavender Hill mob stuff and, like, him when he was
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: really young. But this is him, like, he's already, like,
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: this is just sort of right before he becomes Obi-Wan. But, like,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: he's still just, like, he's so set in his ways
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: and such a, like, just closed-minded British bastard that he's
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: just like, nope, this is the way I do things. So, like,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: it's interesting watching him, like, be thrown into a prisoner
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: at war camp and, like, be like, well, too bad,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: this is how I do things. Like, okay, crazy old man.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: So yeah, it's pretty impressive. David Lean, that's what he does, man.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Epic movies. So that was mine. Those are the last
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: things I've watched.
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't watch anything. I did see that Chuck
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: Norris died, and I was pretty disappointed about that. But
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: you know what? He was old, and people don't live forever.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: That was mine. I mean, truthfully, the first thing I said,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I think I told you this, Misty. When it happened,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: I was like, ugh. But what about the memes?
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: What's going to happen to the memes?
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: The memes still live, but now it's like the ones
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: I saw was like, you know, death, death retired. So
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: they had to call in.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: I saved that when I was going to send it
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: to you guys.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: I saw it. He was just like, oh, you're here now.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: And he hands over his sickle or whatever. He's like,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: here you go. Take over, dude. So yeah, now it's
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: just the I'm the coolest badass that ever died. I
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: guess that's what it's transitioned to, but yeah.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: I've seen those and seen the memes of him reuniting
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: with Bruce Lee in heaven.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: That's all that stuff.
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: I saw the one of him reuniting with Jonathan Brandeis.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Jonathan Brandeis?
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: Weird.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: What an odd choice.
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: Weren't they in a movie together?
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Weren't they sidekicks or something?
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: Yes, they were.
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: Oh, that's right. I never saw that movie.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: And there they are.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: Probably that German Shepherd's up there, too. I doubt he's
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: still around. So he's probably up there, too. It's all good.
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: But, yeah. I was thinking that when it happened. But
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: that was my end, too. I was like, well, he
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: wasn't young. Like, it's different than when somebody dies when
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: they're like 40. And you're like, oh, that sucks.
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: Oh, you mean Nicholas Brendan?
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Nicholas Brendan or freaking Dawson. Any of these dudes
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: that are like, wow, you were too young to be dying, man.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: What the fuck? But, yeah, when you get to like
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: 88 or whatever he was, I'm like, ah, he had
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: a good run.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: He had a good run. He did a lot of things.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Did a lot of stuff. Beat a lot of people's ass.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Kick people in the head.
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: Left a huge impact on both the film and the
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: martial arts world. Definitely. He definitely left his mark.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: So, it's okay. Just celebrate his life.
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: And enjoy the fact that you got his autograph.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Fuck yeah.
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: In advance.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: Hell yeah, I did. I am glad I did that.
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: That was a good decision.
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: The photo op as well.
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: Yeah, the photo op as well.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Was it not at this convention? I believe it was.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: It was at this convention.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Yes, it was. So there you go.
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Thank you, Lexi Comic and Toy Convention.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Because you made that dream come true.
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Several, several years ago.
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: That was for my birthday.
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: So.
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: Birthday.
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: That is pretty cool. Yeah, because my boss is like,
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: he's like, we were, actually, it's so weird because we
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: were talking about, my boss went back and watched Invasion
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: USA and he was like, dude, that is the best
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: fucking movie ever. He's like, that's just such fucking America, man. Fucking,
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Chuck Norris, fucking four-wheel drive pickup truck, and, like, denim vests.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Dual Uzis. Lee Marvin in that one?
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: That's, what is that one?
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: That's Delta Force.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Delta Force, there we go. Yeah, I know. Again, they
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: become a blur at some point.
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: I watched all of them back in the day.
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: So, yeah, we were talking about that, and he was like,
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: you got to meet him, didn't you? I was like, yeah.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: And he goes, fuck yeah. He goes, I'm going to
- 1:31:09Speaker 5: do that. He goes, I'm going to find out the
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: next convention he does. And I was like, he doesn't
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: do a lot of conventions. And then the next day.
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: My boss was walking out of the office, and I
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: was talking to Misty on the phone. I was like,
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: holy shit, Chuck Norris died.
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: Jinxed him. And he was like, what?
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: And I was like, Chuck Norris.
- 1:31:23Speaker 6: The lengths that Chuck Norris would go to to not
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: meet your boss.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: He was like, I better hurry up and die.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: I'm out of here.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I don't want to talk to that guy.
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: You said I'm done.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: But yeah, that all came together because of a convention.
- 1:31:37Speaker 6: This convention.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: This convention right here. So that's bringing it back around.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: I say we round things out right there.
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: It was almost like it was planned.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Like it came together as all things do.
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: Like a plan.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: Love it when a plan comes together. Wait, he wasn't
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: on that show at all.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: No, he wasn't. Nor in the movie.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Anyway, so thank you to Lexington Comic and Toy Convention
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: for letting us come be part of the fun. And
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: their website is lexingtoncomiccon.com. So go there and start planning
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: your trip next time. And you might see a legend
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: just like we have.
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: But not Chuck Norris.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Probably won't see. A ghost of Chuck Norris would also
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: be pretty badass. So if you see that, let us know.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: I mean, we've got AI now, so.
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: We could do like the hologram.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: One of those holograms. It'll be like Tupac dancing with
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: Chuck Norris.
- 1:32:25Speaker 6: I'll have a table of like Bruce Lee and Chuck
- 1:32:28Speaker 6: Norris and that one guy whose name I don't remember.
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: What's his name? Jim? I don't know where I'm getting
- 1:32:33Speaker 6: Jim from. The black guy.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Oh, from Jim Kelly?
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: Jim Kelly!
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Yeah, okay. I didn't know which movie you were talking about. Yeah,
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: Jim Kelly. I was like, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Alright.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Anything else to pass along?
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: Ray Wise is awesome.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Ray Wise is awesome. Wise. My cousin is super cool.
