- 0:40Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, a special edition Live
- 0:45Speaker 1: from training Camp. I'm Fred Kurz, joined by Paul Parrillo,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Mike do So later Evan Lazarre, and we are high
- 0:52Speaker 1: above the practice feels here at Jillette Stadium. As you
- 0:55Speaker 1: can see, the players are in their conditioning run to
- 0:58Speaker 1: kick off practice. You just heard Bill Belichick's press conference
- 1:02Speaker 1: and today is the first day of pads, so it's
- 1:06Speaker 1: always a big day in training camp.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm hoping to see a couple of different things
- 1:11Speaker 4: that we haven't seen a ton of in recent years,
- 1:14Speaker 4: but we always like the the one on ones with
- 1:17Speaker 4: the offensive defensive lineman, some pass protection, pass rush, but
- 1:20Speaker 4: I'd like to see a little goal line work in
- 1:22Speaker 4: some team settings today. I'm pretty sure we'll get some
- 1:26Speaker 4: live reps in the red zone, but I'd like to
- 1:28Speaker 4: see some running game work in the you know, near
- 1:30Speaker 4: the goal line. Haven't seen a lot of that in
- 1:32Speaker 4: recent years. I'm hoping today we might change to.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So obviously pads means more contact. What are some of
- 1:39Speaker 1: the you know, in the weeds type of things that
- 1:43Speaker 1: we should be looking for today, like jamming off the line,
- 1:46Speaker 1: things like that.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Sure, yeah, those are good things.
- 1:48Speaker 6: I mean, I think, as Paul said, I think the
- 1:49Speaker 6: one on ones are always you know, a lot of
- 1:51Speaker 6: fun just to see guys line up one on one.
- 1:53Speaker 6: And you know, Kem White yesterday saying I'm excited to
- 1:56Speaker 6: see what the physicality of the NFL is actually like.
- 1:59Speaker 6: So you've heard plenty of it over the last four days.
- 2:01Speaker 6: If really the first those days of practice are really
- 2:04Speaker 6: a continuation of OTA. So today this is training camp. Now,
- 2:08Speaker 6: this is really when evaluation is going to start. We'll
- 2:10Speaker 6: see how much eleven on eleven, seven on seven, that
- 2:13Speaker 6: kind of stuff you get but like you said, fred
- 2:16Speaker 6: I think.
- 2:16Speaker 5: You know, guys getting pressed on the line.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Can you know, some of the smaller rookies can of
- 2:19Speaker 6: to Mario Douglas, who you know had a pretty strong
- 2:22Speaker 6: day yesterday.
- 2:22Speaker 5: How's he going to do, you know when he goes
- 2:24Speaker 5: up against.
- 2:24Speaker 6: A Jonathan Jones, experienced NFL cornerback who knows how to
- 2:29Speaker 6: you know, get your hand, get his hands on you,
- 2:31Speaker 6: not let you get off the line. So those are
- 2:32Speaker 6: certainly some of the things to watch as well as
- 2:35Speaker 6: just some of the rookies. Yeah, they react to this
- 2:37Speaker 6: first chance at contact, and.
- 2:39Speaker 4: We talk a lot, Freddy about there's no tackling. You
- 2:42Speaker 4: don't really see a lot of guys get tackled to
- 2:44Speaker 4: the ground during training camp, but you will see the
- 2:47Speaker 4: lineman creating holes in the running game. And you want
- 2:50Speaker 4: to see you know, last year was pretty apparent as
- 2:52Speaker 4: soon as those pads went on when they were working
- 2:54Speaker 4: on the zone stuff and it just wasn't there. Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 4: there was you know, penetration on the coming in off
- 3:01Speaker 4: the edges and they really never got anything going. So,
- 3:04Speaker 4: I mean those are some small things to keep an
- 3:06Speaker 4: eye on. You know, is there more running room the
- 3:09Speaker 4: lineman creating any kind of movement on the defensive front.
- 3:13Speaker 4: And then the stuff that Mike talked about to me
- 3:16Speaker 4: is at the top of the list. I want to
- 3:17Speaker 4: see how the receivers are dealing with some press coverage
- 3:20Speaker 4: and if it looks the same when you know, when
- 3:22Speaker 4: they're running their round and you know.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You might you know, pressure around the quarterback might be real,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like so it's it's today.
- 3:30Speaker 1: If there's pressure around the quarterback, it's earned, you know,
- 3:33Speaker 1: because everybody's you know, so there's a likelihood that they
- 3:37Speaker 1: might blow plays dead. Quicker, I would.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Think, certainly something to watch because I think, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 6: although the offense had a better day yesterday, maybe primarily
- 3:46Speaker 6: fueled by the second team's performance, you know, defenses has
- 3:49Speaker 6: carried the day through the first four non padded practices,
- 3:52Speaker 6: all in the red zone.
- 3:54Speaker 5: A lot of factors in the defenses.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Favor in terms of their experience, a bunch of veterans
- 3:58Speaker 6: who've all played together for a while, and offense has
- 4:00Speaker 6: a new offensive coordinator. Not to mention, you're in the
- 4:03Speaker 6: red zone where there's just so much tight space it's
- 4:05Speaker 6: it's hard to really do a lot offensively.
- 4:07Speaker 5: You've got to be right on top of things.
- 4:09Speaker 6: So a little bit more chance now for the defense
- 4:11Speaker 6: to I think, I think maybe even take more control.
- 4:14Speaker 6: I just I want to see how things look on
- 4:16Speaker 6: the right side of the offensive line. I think that's
- 4:17Speaker 6: a spot that you've already seen some juggling. It seems
- 4:20Speaker 6: like they have some questions again. Four days into camp,
- 4:23Speaker 6: you got questions on the right side of your line.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Not a great situation to have. We're just looking at
- 4:27Speaker 1: Matt Judah. It doesn't look like he's got shoulder pads
- 4:30Speaker 1: on and definitely not pants, so he's gonna be a
- 4:34Speaker 1: limited participant once again here in practice. As we watch
- 4:40Speaker 1: them stretch out, they're going into their group drills right now.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Any notable absences, I know you guys have been diligently
- 4:46Speaker 1: taking attendance.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Well, Kaishan Boudi is back after just missing yesterday, so
- 4:50Speaker 6: you know, good for a rookie anytime you miss time
- 4:53Speaker 6: and in training camp you're getting way behind, so good
- 4:55Speaker 6: to have him back out. And I think a couple
- 4:58Speaker 6: just new ones we're still trying to confirm. But Terrez
- 5:01Speaker 6: Hall fifty nine, haven't spotted him yet, and Anthony Jennings
- 5:05Speaker 6: number thirty.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Three were two could be here.
- 5:08Speaker 4: We we'll probably get a little bit Jake Andrews because
- 5:10Speaker 4: I'm still missing him from yesterday.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah he's out too, he's out.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, same as yesterday was his first one along
- 5:18Speaker 5: with Booty.
- 5:19Speaker 7: I got thirty three.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah, thirty three. Okay, that's a good one.
- 5:21Speaker 6: I mean, I just I've been talking a lot about
- 5:23Speaker 6: how Finn the the depth is at outside linebacker, and
- 5:27Speaker 6: you've seen Anthony Jennings get you know, plenty of opportunities
- 5:29Speaker 6: here with Matthew Judon kind of slowly working his way in.
- 5:32Speaker 6: So Jennings is a guy today that you know you
- 5:35Speaker 6: really want to look at. I want to look at
- 5:36Speaker 6: Ronnie Perkins. I mean, it's just there's not a lot
- 5:38Speaker 6: of depth. You really have four guys and it's Uce
- 5:40Speaker 6: and Jude on at the top is the stand up
- 5:42Speaker 6: outside linebackers.
- 5:43Speaker 5: We know those guys can play, but.
- 5:45Speaker 6: If an injury were to befall one of them, I
- 5:47Speaker 6: think that the drop off is pretty quick, and I
- 5:49Speaker 6: think they'd be kind of scrambling a little bit. We'll
- 5:51Speaker 6: say the ability of Bentley and to Vibe play a
- 5:54Speaker 6: little bit on the edge that that would help maybe
- 5:55Speaker 6: mitigate that risk a little bit, but I don't love
- 5:58Speaker 6: the depth that they have.
- 5:59Speaker 5: And I think it Jude On injury would really be
- 6:01Speaker 5: a time Montgomery. Still not Here's still no time Montgomery.
- 6:04Speaker 5: So that'll be three straight practices for him.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Unfortunately, that's uh, you know, I saw the collision and
- 6:11Speaker 1: it didn't look like it was you know, a twisted ankle.
- 6:14Speaker 1: He got up slow, kind of was hobbling a little bit,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but not sure what the injury is.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So it's no, it's hard rustrate and you don't want
- 6:23Speaker 4: to speculate, you know. But he did kind of like
- 6:26Speaker 4: lunch back awkwardly, so you hope it's nothing, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 4: you know, and I know there was a collision, so
- 6:32Speaker 4: like to say that it's non.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Contact, yeah, but I was definitely contact.
- 6:36Speaker 4: But I think there may have been a non contact injury,
- 6:38Speaker 4: if that makes any sense. I think whatever happened happened
- 6:41Speaker 4: as he tried to lunch backward and then they ended
- 6:43Speaker 4: up getting tangled up. But uh, yeah, I mean when
- 6:46Speaker 4: Bill said day to day right away, I sort of
- 6:49Speaker 4: had a bad feeling, you know, the fact that he
- 6:51Speaker 4: even acknowledged it, you know.
- 6:53Speaker 6: Right, yeah, all right, Well, well maybe I mean it
- 6:58Speaker 6: was kind of interesting yesterday. We did not watch practice
- 7:01Speaker 6: with Paul, so I kind of sometimes when this happens. Paul,
- 7:03Speaker 6: as much as I enjoy watching practice with you, we.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Did the podcast to go.
- 7:06Speaker 5: We did, I know, we got a little bit of page.
- 7:09Speaker 6: We did, except I thought I thought, I thought that
- 7:11Speaker 6: that they hit that the rookie kicker hit all of them.
- 7:13Speaker 6: But you, you were down there, you were well, that's
- 7:16Speaker 6: what I realized about you, Paul. You're You're really good
- 7:18Speaker 6: with the details, and sometimes I think myself I zone
- 7:21Speaker 6: out on some of the special team stuff.
- 7:23Speaker 5: But you're always right there because you're always so into
- 7:25Speaker 5: special teams.
- 7:25Speaker 4: So you're a bad guy.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You come with a smile, giving you a compliment, smiling assassin.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Paul and I get all the flak for being negative
- 7:40Speaker 7: and the big smile on.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Let's just say, the current record hold record holder for
- 7:45Speaker 6: the most negative person to ever go on the Six
- 7:47Speaker 6: Ring podcast is this guy right here.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Anybody but that Dessaults.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Even Andy was like, God, he seems down on the team.
- 7:55Speaker 6: I don't know what I said that to get that.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But yesterday was a better day for the offense.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
- 8:00Speaker 6: We could talk about a little bit because you know,
- 8:03Speaker 6: I thought it was good, but I mean, I don't know,
- 8:05Speaker 6: I feel like we all wanted the narrative to be that, oh,
- 8:08Speaker 6: they're starting, but you know, I still it was okay,
- 8:11Speaker 6: and there was some balance to what I thought was
- 8:13Speaker 6: the offense punched back a little bit.
- 8:15Speaker 4: I think that's the phrase that that Evan used when
- 8:17Speaker 4: we were doing our podcast, and that's what we were
- 8:20Speaker 4: talking about down in the know it all tent where
- 8:22Speaker 4: you know, you guys were too good to do yesterday.
- 8:25Speaker 4: You know, just there was signs of life and I
- 8:28Speaker 4: thought that there were a couple of really really like
- 8:32Speaker 4: there was nothing overly impressive from a physical standpoint to
- 8:34Speaker 4: those two plays that we talked about a lot with
- 8:36Speaker 4: Mac Jones in the in the offense, but I thought
- 8:39Speaker 4: the execution, the attention to detail was on point. And
- 8:43Speaker 4: you know, they talked. I thought Zappi talked after practice
- 8:45Speaker 4: and he sort of told you that these are the
- 8:47Speaker 4: things that we've been building toward for you know that
- 8:50Speaker 4: the first three days. So you want to see that
- 8:52Speaker 4: kind of stuff. You want to see them have success.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I thought last year, last summer, it was just a
- 8:58Speaker 4: beatdown mentally and you could sense the frustration. We heard
- 9:03Speaker 4: the frustration at times when they talked about it. It
- 9:05Speaker 4: bothered them that they didn't have a lot of periods
- 9:07Speaker 4: of success yesterday. And you're right, it wasn't perfect. I
- 9:10Speaker 4: mean there were you know, Zappi finishes his series with
- 9:13Speaker 4: a pick, Mac nearly had one on his last play.
- 9:17Speaker 4: There were several times where the quarterbacks weren't able to
- 9:20Speaker 4: find anybody open and had to scramble around. There were
- 9:22Speaker 4: several other times where they would have been just sacks anyway.
- 9:25Speaker 4: So it wasn't perfect. The defense was still pretty good yesterday,
- 9:28Speaker 4: but I just thought there were times where the offense
- 9:31Speaker 4: had to have felt better about itself.
- 9:32Speaker 6: Yeah, that was a conversation Evan and I had as
- 9:34Speaker 6: practice was wrapping up, because as much as the Patriots,
- 9:37Speaker 6: they love to start in the red zone and that's
- 9:39Speaker 6: the hardest place. But you know, we're saying, don't they
- 9:42Speaker 6: need to build some confidence though, Like don't you need
- 9:44Speaker 6: to just like have let them execute a couple plays
- 9:46Speaker 6: so that they start to build things. And you know,
- 9:48Speaker 6: it felt like early on in that session yesterday they
- 9:50Speaker 6: pulled back there in the middle.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Of field a little bit.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Maybe that's what they were doing. It seemed like that's
- 9:54Speaker 5: when they found their stride.
- 9:55Speaker 6: But I I just I wonder because even some of
- 9:58Speaker 6: the great throws I thought from yesterday that were kind
- 10:00Speaker 6: of garnering praise, I wondered if they might actually have
- 10:02Speaker 6: been sacks. Some of them were you know, running around.
- 10:05Speaker 6: I know, the mac one to GASICKI we both kind
- 10:08Speaker 6: of felt that that was definitely blown dead. Yeah, Bill
- 10:11Speaker 6: blew the whistle before that throw was made.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Absolutely, So I.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Just I'm a little bit interested to see if we're
- 10:18Speaker 6: going to see some downfield throws from Maca. We saw
- 10:20Speaker 6: those last years, but as bad as last training camp was,
- 10:22Speaker 6: there was occasionally he'd hit algalore down the field.
- 10:25Speaker 5: So now in the this was this was funny tell us.
- 10:28Speaker 4: We started charting whether or not Bill would have blown
- 10:30Speaker 4: the play dead if Zappy was the quarterback right.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The quick whistle.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It was a quick whistle, quick whistle.
- 10:38Speaker 5: But I mean, in that reguard, you go over there,
- 10:40Speaker 5: in that regard, I.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Mean, you know, all the parsing we've kind of done
- 10:43Speaker 6: on the throws yesterday, I mean, Zappy did have a
- 10:45Speaker 6: good day yesterday, and I mean you can't ignore a
- 10:47Speaker 6: couple downfield throws that were completed. So you haven't seen
- 10:50Speaker 6: those out of Mac yet though, and I'd like to
- 10:51Speaker 6: see those out of them.
- 10:52Speaker 5: I think they need to see those out of them.
- 10:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the most encouraging thing offensively for me
- 10:56Speaker 7: is that I'm starting to see the blueprint for Bill
- 10:59Speaker 7: O'Brien and what exactly they're gonna do schematically, and I
- 11:02Speaker 7: like what I'm what I'm seeing. So maybe the results
- 11:04Speaker 7: haven't been consistently there yet, but I think what they're
- 11:07Speaker 7: doing that's gonna eventually translate come September. I can see
- 11:13Speaker 7: the foundation being built to something that's gonna be productive.
- 11:16Speaker 7: So even if it's one two steps forward one step back,
- 11:20Speaker 7: I think it's the best way to describe yesterday. To
- 11:23Speaker 7: an extent, it still feels like, Okay, we can see
- 11:26Speaker 7: that they're going to incorporate some under center play action.
- 11:29Speaker 7: They're probably gonna incorporate some spacing things and some RPO
- 11:33Speaker 7: concepts and empty formations and different things that Bill Brian's
- 11:38Speaker 7: kind of always done, and especially since he was in
- 11:40Speaker 7: the college game in the last couple of years, but
- 11:43Speaker 7: are encouraging things, I think for the quarterbacks in particular,
- 11:46Speaker 7: and mainly Mac. I think it really fits what those
- 11:50Speaker 7: guys do well, on top of just the fact that
- 11:53Speaker 7: I like it from a schematic standpoint and it's fun
- 11:55Speaker 7: to break down. So yeah, I think it's It's that
- 11:58Speaker 7: for me, is that they're they're headed in the right direction,
- 12:01Speaker 7: and they have a plan of what they're trying to install.
- 12:04Speaker 7: And then once we get into real padded practices now
- 12:08Speaker 7: and in a couple of weeks, when they get out
- 12:10Speaker 7: to joint practices and not going up against the same
- 12:12Speaker 7: defense every single day, how did the results look at
- 12:15Speaker 7: that point, because now we're still in the install phase
- 12:18Speaker 7: of training camp.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Are you saying they didn't have a plan last year?
- 12:22Speaker 7: I'm saying that this year. And we were talking about
- 12:25Speaker 7: this yesterday Deuce where they had a drill going on
- 12:28Speaker 7: on the right side, on the right field, and it
- 12:31Speaker 7: was Bill O'Brien with the quarterbacks and the running backs
- 12:34Speaker 7: and in vinniesonce Aria was with them too, and you
- 12:37Speaker 7: could see they were working on a run drill with
- 12:40Speaker 7: the quarterbacks or handing off to the running backs, and
- 12:42Speaker 7: that was I could see the drill, how it would
- 12:45Speaker 7: translate to film and how it would translate on a
- 12:48Speaker 7: game field and more and more. You just see that
- 12:51Speaker 7: with this coaching staff, you can see the drills translating
- 12:56Speaker 7: to the games and you see the method to the madness,
- 12:58Speaker 7: and I think that that should be as encouraging as anything.
- 13:02Speaker 6: I mean, I'm curious to Evan just to see the
- 13:03Speaker 6: run game today and what you know, if they do go.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Goal line, what does their goal line run.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Package look like.
- 13:09Speaker 6: I mean, they don't have a fullback anymore. We haven't
- 13:11Speaker 6: really seen much of the run game for obvious reasons,
- 13:14Speaker 6: but curious about that. One of the thing too I
- 13:16Speaker 6: wanted to add is I just thought the pace, the
- 13:17Speaker 6: kind of tempo was kind of good yesterday. With the offense,
- 13:21Speaker 6: it just it seemed like, especially when they were starting
- 13:23Speaker 6: on the middle of the field, seem like they were
- 13:24Speaker 6: on the same page. They were executing things you didn't
- 13:26Speaker 6: see last year.
- 13:27Speaker 5: They ran.
- 13:27Speaker 4: They would run five plays and sort of get down
- 13:30Speaker 4: to the red zone and then it was all scripted.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it would stop and I think it was two
- 13:35Speaker 1: minute offense or at least four minute offense.
- 13:38Speaker 7: So actually the drill that they're doing right now is
- 13:40Speaker 7: the exact same drill I was just talking about that
- 13:42Speaker 7: they were doing yesterday, and you can see Vinnie and Serri.
- 13:46Speaker 7: I think that's him with the with the play she
- 13:49Speaker 7: kind of in his hand, and when the running back
- 13:51Speaker 7: gets the ball, he's stepping in a certain direction to
- 13:55Speaker 7: kind of give the running back a read right of
- 13:57Speaker 7: if this guy, if the defender goes here, where you
- 13:59Speaker 7: suppose to cut off of it. And those are the
- 14:01Speaker 7: types of things that they do in these types of
- 14:04Speaker 7: you know, jog throughs or walk throughs that eventually you
- 14:08Speaker 7: can see how this is teaching people where to go
- 14:12Speaker 7: and what to do, and it's it's beneficial to the players.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Another example of that was right in front of us
- 14:18Speaker 4: in the in the near field here on the left side,
- 14:20Speaker 4: they were doing the combo routes on the goal line
- 14:22Speaker 4: with slot guys going out, you know, the outside guys
- 14:25Speaker 4: coming in looking to create rubs. And I thought you
- 14:28Speaker 4: saw a variation of that kind of a concept on
- 14:31Speaker 4: the the Remondre Stevenson little swing for a touchdown where
- 14:35Speaker 4: Hunter Henry is out on the outside really just creating
- 14:38Speaker 4: a wall. There was nobody out there on on Stevenson
- 14:41Speaker 4: because there was too much. They couldn't the linebacker couldn't
- 14:45Speaker 4: get through the wash. And you and you can't. You
- 14:47Speaker 4: can't get out there. So those are the kinds of
- 14:49Speaker 4: things that's what they're looking to create, you know, put
- 14:52Speaker 4: put guys in tough situations. You're not looking you got to.
- 14:57Speaker 4: I know a lot of people are like, well that's
- 14:59Speaker 4: a that's a pick, and yeah they are. But if
- 15:01Speaker 4: you don't practice it, it's gonna get called every time.
- 15:04Speaker 4: You need to work on the timing of those kinds
- 15:06Speaker 4: of things. Make sure it's done in the right spot
- 15:08Speaker 4: on the field, inside that one yard barrier, and make
- 15:11Speaker 4: sure you're not making it blatantly obviously, like you can't
- 15:13Speaker 4: just go out and say, hey, we really need this play.
- 15:15Speaker 4: We got to go out and set a pick, you know,
- 15:17Speaker 4: so juju can get in the clear.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:19Speaker 4: If you're not practicing it over and over and over again,
- 15:22Speaker 4: the timing's never going to be there.
- 15:23Speaker 5: You saw that.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I thought over here in the walkthrough, and then on
- 15:27Speaker 4: the right side, why when they executed it, and it's
- 15:30Speaker 4: just a walk in touchdown for reminder.
- 15:31Speaker 7: Right, And I think that's where I'm coming from with
- 15:34Speaker 7: it'll get there right. They're practicing these things and you
- 15:37Speaker 7: can see how these things are going to be effective
- 15:39Speaker 7: for them, and once they get the timing down, and
- 15:41Speaker 7: once they call it against the defense at the right
- 15:44Speaker 7: time and against certain opponents, they'll find out what their
- 15:47Speaker 7: rules are and how they switch things and things like
- 15:50Speaker 7: that in those types of situations, and they'll call plays
- 15:53Speaker 7: that counteract that. Right now, they're not calling plays against
- 15:56Speaker 7: their own defense to get one up on the defense.
- 15:58Speaker 7: They're just running plays in their playbook. Eventually, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 7: Bill O'Brien will know the opponent's tendencies and he'll know
- 16:05Speaker 7: how they defend those types of different different schemes and
- 16:08Speaker 7: things like that, and they'll have answers to it, hopefully.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's.
- 16:12Speaker 7: When the results will come a little bit more.
- 16:13Speaker 6: I thought an interesting little tidbit from Boston Sports Journals
- 16:17Speaker 6: new Mike Giardi.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Congratulations Mike, a new.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Gig, But he wrote, spoke with some people around the league,
- 16:21Speaker 6: and you know, not that we need to reflect upon
- 16:24Speaker 6: last year's offense, but you know they were high on
- 16:27Speaker 6: Bill O'Brien, and you know, just said to your point, Evan,
- 16:29Speaker 6: that last year, when you kind of threw something they
- 16:31Speaker 6: weren't prepared for, they couldn't really counter punch off of it,
- 16:34Speaker 6: which you know that's really probably not all that surprising
- 16:37Speaker 6: considering you know, a new offensive coordinator been on the
- 16:40Speaker 6: defensive side of the ball. All of a sudden, Get
- 16:42Speaker 6: gets a new twist thrown at him and you know,
- 16:44Speaker 6: didn't quite know how to counter it.
- 16:48Speaker 1: All right, some of the offensive guys running over to
- 16:51Speaker 1: the field to join quarterbacks and skill position players.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Do you got to ease into the hitting today or
- 16:58Speaker 5: is it? I hope not?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Now you think they'll go right into goal line.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I don't think they'll go right into it, but I
- 17:05Speaker 4: would like to see, you know, at least the one
- 17:08Speaker 4: on one stuff that we always see and some some
- 17:11Speaker 4: running game work at some point, but you know we'll
- 17:14Speaker 4: see so hard still sort of in the the warm
- 17:17Speaker 4: up face, yeah, the position right, Yeah, he was here yesterday.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Yeah, ye had a baby. Yeah, nice pick little girl.
- 17:26Speaker 6: And certainly, uh, you know, after the first four days
- 17:30Speaker 6: were pretty crazy, yesterday was packed, but a little bit
- 17:33Speaker 6: more mellow today with the Monday morning practice here with
- 17:36Speaker 6: the stand still still still pretty good turnout though not
- 17:39Speaker 6: I haven't opened the ramps up.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But have we heard anything on Lawrence guy, like, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 1: not since he talked after the first thing get resolved
- 17:47Speaker 1: or it.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Just said he's here, and yeah, he's a patriot. That's
- 17:53Speaker 4: he wouldn't really get into any of the specifics, but yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 4: I mean I would say that those two situations, Lawrence Guy,
- 18:00Speaker 4: Matthew Judah like they I would just say they're not
- 18:02Speaker 4: like major like headline grabbing things with their things to
- 18:06Speaker 4: keep an eye.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And then of course the Jack Jones situation is ongoing.
- 18:10Speaker 1: He's out there but really not running with the ones.
- 18:13Speaker 6: So yeah, yesterday he got a little bit of run
- 18:15Speaker 6: with the Ones for the first time in camp, so
- 18:18Speaker 6: it wasn't uh, he hasn't been totally buried.
- 18:20Speaker 7: But yeah, I know trees Hall is interesting.
- 18:31Speaker 6: Yeah, now I saw somebody I think it might have
- 18:32Speaker 6: been Reese said he was limited maybe yesterday.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Okay, I hadn't noticed anything.
- 18:36Speaker 7: But so I can't speculate them.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he seems like a h a guy
- 18:41Speaker 6: that just can't really again and talk about another guy.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Who can't beat the Yeah, I mean if injury.
- 18:46Speaker 7: But if it's just an injury thing, then then I
- 18:48Speaker 7: won't speculate. But if they had to create a roster
- 18:51Speaker 7: spot for a certain running back that they might have
- 18:54Speaker 7: had visiting here a couple of days ago, if trees
- 18:57Speaker 7: Hall would be on the shortlist of guys that might
- 18:59Speaker 7: be considered a person to free up, said.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Roster spot Right. Chris Price reported that sources say that
- 19:09Speaker 1: Elliott's still in the area.
- 19:11Speaker 7: Well he's at the dinner another night.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Well I know that, but no, but as of this morning,
- 19:15Speaker 1: he was still around.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Yeah, so would you make anything out of this still
- 19:19Speaker 4: in town yesterday?
- 19:21Speaker 5: That was the report.
- 19:22Speaker 4: But to you a point like, yeah, you go out
- 19:25Speaker 4: to dinner Saturday night, that was supposedly the day that
- 19:27Speaker 4: you met with the team where your flight leave Sunday morning.
- 19:29Speaker 4: If the report is accurate and he was still in
- 19:32Speaker 4: town all day Sunday, Yeah, I mean I like, I
- 19:35Speaker 4: like Evans's theory, like when you all of a sudden
- 19:38Speaker 4: there's like a random guy not out there and he's
- 19:40Speaker 4: not necessarily no disrespected her as all, but not considered
- 19:44Speaker 4: you know, a frontline player, right.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 4: You always sort of wonder if you put two and
- 19:49Speaker 4: two together. Yeah, anybody see anybody that looks like Ezekiel
- 19:53Speaker 4: Elliott out that's a negative.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He would have his shirt rolled up to his boobies. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I think it'd be fun.
- 19:59Speaker 5: I mean, he would probably be over there running to
- 20:01Speaker 5: the It.
- 20:02Speaker 6: Just seems like one of the shoes has to fall,
- 20:05Speaker 6: like Dalvin Cook's got a sign with the Jets or
- 20:07Speaker 6: you know, something's got to happen, and then I feel
- 20:08Speaker 6: like all those those guys will will.
- 20:10Speaker 1: That whole running back situation now is crazy.
- 20:15Speaker 5: You know.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Mike Greese was on the radio saying that, you know,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Dalvin Cook, he thinks he doesn't know was looking for
- 20:22Speaker 1: what he was making at Minnesota, which is a little
- 20:25Speaker 1: over ten million a Year's yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 7: That's not happening.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Well, I don't think you're going to get him for
- 20:32Speaker 4: like the veteran minimum, let's put it that way.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Oh no, no, But but you know, I'd be more
- 20:38Speaker 1: than happy to give him six million.
- 20:40Speaker 5: You know, Yeah, they I don't think they would. Yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 5: but I would, And I wouldn't disagree.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yeah, except for I don't really care about running backs.
- 20:51Speaker 7: I'd be wary. How can six millions?
- 20:54Speaker 5: Can you guys expand on me?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Though?
- 20:56Speaker 6: I I didn't really do a deep, deep dive on
- 20:59Speaker 6: the down of Ezekiah Elliot, you know.
- 21:02Speaker 5: But what what what really was? What happened?
- 21:04Speaker 7: I mean, he's just doesn't have the juice.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Every year his numbers went down from his rookie year.
- 21:11Speaker 1: He never you know, and they just went steadily down
- 21:13Speaker 1: and then Pollard came in and took whatever snaps he
- 21:16Speaker 1: had left away, and he was just a backup. You know.
- 21:20Speaker 7: His explosiveness has has taken a downturn. He was never
- 21:24Speaker 7: a home run hitter, but he always had that that
- 21:26Speaker 7: good initial burst to get through the line of scrimmage.
- 21:30Speaker 7: And he it does not look the same, especially if
- 21:33Speaker 7: you ask him to to run off tackle or try.
- 21:36Speaker 1: To bounce it out.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Can't get it. So he's got to be a guy
- 21:40Speaker 7: that you're coming to downhill. You want to run him
- 21:43Speaker 7: short yardage situations, things like that. I think he can
- 21:45Speaker 7: still be effective, but he's not a lead back anymore.
- 21:49Speaker 7: That can that can do at all?
- 21:50Speaker 1: And can he He can catch the ball a little bit, you.
- 21:52Speaker 7: Can pass protect for real.
- 21:54Speaker 4: He's a really good in the in the passing game.
- 21:56Speaker 5: I agree with that.
- 21:57Speaker 4: He's a good, good receiver and a good blocker.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I mean, he'd be fine here, he'd be fine as
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know the remandres backup.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Yeah, yep.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I continue to be a little bit intrigued by Jalen Hurd.
- 22:09Speaker 6: I mean, he had that nice catch yesterday. I just
- 22:11Speaker 6: I think he moves well, and it stands out to
- 22:14Speaker 6: me amongst this group of wide receivers that aren't you know,
- 22:17Speaker 6: the most nimble of foot, not to say that he
- 22:20Speaker 6: just looks athletic to me, and he's got some good size.
- 22:22Speaker 6: I'd love to just see him continue to make some
- 22:24Speaker 6: plays and you know, see him get a chance with
- 22:27Speaker 6: the top offense.
- 22:27Speaker 1: But a little bit of intrigued for me with him
- 22:29Speaker 1: just letting everyone know. In a minute or so, we're
- 22:31Speaker 1: gonna have to take our cameras down per rules, but
- 22:34Speaker 1: we will stay with you with our voices and we'll
- 22:37Speaker 1: tell you everything that we see going on here at practice,
- 22:41Speaker 1: but we will have to turn the cameras off. You
- 22:44Speaker 1: can email the show web radio at Patriots dot com
- 22:48Speaker 1: is the email address, or you can call us eight
- 22:50Speaker 1: five five Pats five hundred. Either way, you can engage
- 22:55Speaker 1: with us during the practice. Let's see, we have emails
- 23:00Speaker 1: coming in.
- 23:04Speaker 5: With the tablet today.
- 23:04Speaker 1: You're going, you know, Microsoft, trying to make it work.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Let's let's see. This is Kyle Kyle Kyley like Kyle
- 23:16Speaker 1: from Pembroke with the Mario Douglas popping off and Isaiah
- 23:20Speaker 1: Bolden playing with the two's what o the late round
- 23:23Speaker 1: or free agent rookies do you think will make an
- 23:26Speaker 1: impact now that the pads are on.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean those are those are kind of the two.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Otherwise it's said, I'd say it's generally been pretty quiet.
- 23:37Speaker 5: I say, you see a Mapoo got a little bit
- 23:39Speaker 5: of a little bit.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Of time and and I guess you'd call it a
- 23:41Speaker 6: two minute defense playing in the middle kind of in
- 23:45Speaker 6: a linebacker role, like like Evan likes.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Big day for key On White today.
- 23:51Speaker 6: You know, just the same thing with offensive lineman though
- 23:53Speaker 6: it's tough with you know, Jake Andrews has been out
- 23:55Speaker 6: City South has been kind of buried on the depth
- 23:57Speaker 6: chart and kind of waiting for Mafia. See if you
- 23:59Speaker 6: get it's more of a more of a shot at
- 24:01Speaker 6: a right right guard.
- 24:03Speaker 5: But really it's been Bill Murray.
- 24:04Speaker 7: Yeah, Mafi's the one. I agree that no offense to
- 24:08Speaker 7: Bill Murray, but I would like to see one of
- 24:10Speaker 7: the guys that you invested in in the middle rounds
- 24:13Speaker 7: there in the draft unseen Bill Murray for that top
- 24:16Speaker 7: Mike on when who replacement right guard spot right now?
- 24:19Speaker 7: I just you would like to think that Mafi or
- 24:22Speaker 7: even I know that they've worked Cities sound mostly out
- 24:25Speaker 7: at at tackle, but one of those two guys you
- 24:28Speaker 7: would like to see eventually overtake Bill Murray in an
- 24:33Speaker 7: ideal world.
- 24:33Speaker 6: I mean, Bill Belichick loves himson Bill Murray every time.
- 24:36Speaker 6: I think that might be the most glowing description. And
- 24:40Speaker 6: he gave him yesterday. Have just how hard he works,
- 24:43Speaker 6: I mean blocked a bunch of kicks. I mean, he's
- 24:45Speaker 6: just one of those total Belichick guys.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I know, team player, team player. So as you see,
- 24:53Speaker 1: video has to go down right now, the offense is
- 24:58Speaker 1: with the defense to are left and right, So in
- 25:02Speaker 1: our left it's it's more the starting defense against the
- 25:08Speaker 1: H twos and threes offense, and then to our right
- 25:11Speaker 1: is the the opposite.
- 25:13Speaker 7: This is interesting though. Mac Jones is over here on
- 25:16Speaker 7: the left side, yeah, and Zappi is over there on
- 25:18Speaker 7: the right side with the starting offensive line.
- 25:21Speaker 1: That's weird.
- 25:22Speaker 7: But Mac is working with some of the starting receivers
- 25:25Speaker 7: on the left side in a in a shell drill
- 25:27Speaker 7: and it's still on like a seven seven on seven
- 25:30Speaker 7: type situation.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yes, three really three separate things going on right now?
- 25:34Speaker 6: Did that be do anything yesterday? You think that garners
- 25:37Speaker 6: him more of a more of a look or more
- 25:38Speaker 6: of an opportunity.
- 25:40Speaker 7: I don't know if you'd do that based off of
- 25:42Speaker 7: one day.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with Evan.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I think he did play well yesterday, But I think
- 25:47Speaker 4: this was probably.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yeah, the fact that Mac is with the starting receivers,
- 25:51Speaker 1: that that that's more important.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I think, Well, I just think that's the way they
- 25:56Speaker 4: have it set up. I think this is you know,
- 25:59Speaker 4: I think this was a plan. I don't think there
- 26:00Speaker 4: was about any you know, any evaluation kind of stuff.
- 26:04Speaker 4: But I mean, I don't know. It's not like I
- 26:06Speaker 4: know for sure.
- 26:08Speaker 1: But you know, you want your starting quarterback where your
- 26:11Speaker 1: starting receivers.
- 26:12Speaker 4: He's with receivers, period, and Zappi's doing stuff with the
- 26:16Speaker 4: running game and mc sorley's doing stuff with the running
- 26:19Speaker 4: game against uh, you know, secondary players. There's a lot
- 26:23Speaker 4: of team meetings on these screens.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Have you noticed that.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, they're reading those. Yeah, there's no deception.
- 26:28Speaker 4: The defense is doing a good job of playing it, honest.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Right, it's the same player three times in a row.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I mean they're not being blocked.
- 26:34Speaker 6: So they still couldn't get a hand on Pop Douglas
- 26:37Speaker 6: till he was about ten yards.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Are you kidding me? On the first place?
- 26:42Speaker 4: Seven guys.
- 26:42Speaker 5: I didn't touch them though, didn't even tag them.
- 26:45Speaker 1: He's shifting, he's shifted.
- 26:47Speaker 7: He didn't get a hand on.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'm with you, Duce, I'm with you.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Yeah, they didn't get a hand on that guy either.
- 26:53Speaker 5: He's gone.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Look at him, he's gone.
- 26:55Speaker 7: They got a head on.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I think he doesn't have that deception. So I did
- 27:01Speaker 4: notice on the far field with Zappy a couple of
- 27:04Speaker 4: decent holes popped open. I don't know if you would
- 27:06Speaker 4: call this a nine on seven. I mean I can't
- 27:08Speaker 4: really see all the personnel over there.
- 27:10Speaker 7: Yeah, it's essentially a nine on seven. They're working ones
- 27:13Speaker 7: versus two's nine on seven style. It is interesting, though,
- 27:18Speaker 7: that Trent Brown went down to the conditioning field, as
- 27:23Speaker 7: did Matthew Judon, so neither one of those guys.
- 27:25Speaker 4: I noticed that Riley Reef is that left tackle?
- 27:28Speaker 7: Yeah, no, Trent, You've.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Barely got a right tackle.
- 27:32Speaker 5: It's just sicky.
- 27:38Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 27:38Speaker 5: If I had called this like fully keep im track,
- 27:42Speaker 5: I would agree.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm just looking as.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Looking at some stuff. I'm going to put him in
- 27:48Speaker 4: the Hall of Fame now because Pop Douglas. I'll tell you,
- 27:51Speaker 4: if I had any idea that all you had to
- 27:52Speaker 4: do was be with the ones to be established as
- 27:55Speaker 4: an all pro, that's that's an impressive.
- 27:59Speaker 5: I had him out for seventeen catches.
- 28:01Speaker 4: You guys really know, I just directed at YouTube. I
- 28:04Speaker 4: think YouTube been very balanced some of them with some
- 28:07Speaker 4: of the reactions that I've heard on you know, other
- 28:09Speaker 4: than Pop Douglas, who clearly is in line to catch
- 28:13Speaker 4: one hundred and seventeen passes this shit.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Like that's why they called Paul the dream killer. He's
- 28:18Speaker 1: just a dream killer.
- 28:19Speaker 4: I've been impressed, but like, my god, like, can we
- 28:23Speaker 4: let him do something like in like some games before
- 28:26Speaker 4: we annoint them like Stanley Morgan.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Morgan wasn't as quick as he is.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Oh god, you're so Stanley Morgan was more of a burner.
- 28:35Speaker 7: I would say, more quick guy.
- 28:38Speaker 1: He'd be a great complimenting on my thing. Could work
- 28:40Speaker 1: well together underneath, underneath quick guy. Kon Drew Condrew.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Now he's he's, he's, he's he's doing a good job.
- 28:47Speaker 5: He's doing a good job.
- 28:47Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 28:48Speaker 6: We were laughing today walking out seeing like Pats come
- 28:50Speaker 6: on all of a sudden, I would agree.
- 28:53Speaker 7: He's doing well box screen right there, he's doing.
- 28:56Speaker 5: A good job.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I would agree one thousand percent with that.
- 28:59Speaker 1: This is me being serious.
- 29:01Speaker 7: I think you would do SNI are on the same
- 29:02Speaker 7: page here that, and I'm with you. It's about it's
- 29:06Speaker 7: about him making the roster right now. We're not talking
- 29:08Speaker 7: about him. We're not talking about him actually contributing in games.
- 29:12Speaker 7: We're talking about him just being the fifth receiver on
- 29:14Speaker 7: the rock.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Exactly long way to go. But if I had to
- 29:17Speaker 4: say right now, he's a lock based on what he's
- 29:20Speaker 4: been doing every day, not performance wise, but with whom,
- 29:24Speaker 4: with whom.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Whom, whom?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Oh they faked him, but.
- 29:28Speaker 7: They've been they've been doing that a little bit more.
- 29:30Speaker 7: They it's like screen screen, screen, fake.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Stupid defense, trying to jump everything and keep them defense.
- 29:41Speaker 5: They they will.
- 29:42Speaker 7: They hit a siki on it a couple of days ago,
- 29:45Speaker 7: but this time the defense new is coming.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yeah, big day here at Gillette other than training camp.
- 29:53Speaker 1: We have Beyonce tomorrow night.
- 29:56Speaker 7: Yeah, it's going to be here, is going to be
- 29:59Speaker 7: in Nightmare.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So they've got the stage all set up on the
- 30:03Speaker 1: game field.
- 30:05Speaker 4: See now I'll just tell you Douglas did a really
- 30:07Speaker 4: good job on that play blocking little stock block on.
- 30:12Speaker 4: I can't see who it was, but the defender had
- 30:16Speaker 4: a hard time getting away from him.
- 30:19Speaker 7: Pretty good amount of zone running going on with this starting.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Do you hit it? Like the depression in his voice?
- 30:27Speaker 1: Zone running.
- 30:27Speaker 6: If I don't see a guard pole soon, I'm gonna
- 30:29Speaker 6: lose my mind exactly what I was thinking.
- 30:32Speaker 4: In fairness, there's a pretty good amount of zone running from.
- 30:36Speaker 7: Outside phone, some splits, some power. I just see a
- 30:42Speaker 7: guard pole, please. I know they'll be multiple, but they've
- 30:49Speaker 7: leaned towards this. The zone stuff. I think a little
- 30:52Speaker 7: bit more from what we've seen, just not much, I'll
- 30:56Speaker 7: give you it is now.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Last year, when that play would run, they'd be a
- 31:00Speaker 4: team meeting in.
- 31:01Speaker 1: The right field, and that was what was weird too.
- 31:04Speaker 6: It's just like the reps last year were so strange
- 31:06Speaker 6: where it was, you know, like now it's like and
- 31:08Speaker 6: says I, they work on something and they changed a
- 31:10Speaker 6: little bit, they build off of it, like it's just
- 31:12Speaker 6: like it felt like they would just sit there and
- 31:14Speaker 6: run wide zone right six times, wide zone left six times,
- 31:18Speaker 6: and then they were done, Like it was.
- 31:20Speaker 1: It's just bizarre, all right.
- 31:23Speaker 7: The Mac go over there, now, Max over there, I think, yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I verse two's elevens.
- 31:29Speaker 7: I will say this though, Connor McDermott looked looked pretty
- 31:32Speaker 7: solid in that drill. He's he was at right tackle, correct, Yeah, Yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 7: he's looked pretty good. I would say to start here. Definitely,
- 31:42Speaker 7: they're the best guy that they've had out there at
- 31:44Speaker 7: right tackle, which I don't know how much that really means.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I mean, I think I'd love to get Calvin Anderson back,
- 31:51Speaker 6: you know, I wonder what his deal is almost. Yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 6: so out yesterday like our s V or something mono nucleosis.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I'm there.
- 32:07Speaker 4: I don't know how I how did I get How
- 32:09Speaker 4: did I get here?
- 32:11Speaker 5: You may be asking yourself, how did I get here? Well?
- 32:16Speaker 1: We are talking heads, that's.
- 32:18Speaker 5: Right, that's true.
- 32:19Speaker 7: Good friend needs like four eyes for this.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Yeah, three wings, three ring circus.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Yeah, that that SICKI rep though, went yesterday when Mac
- 32:30Speaker 6: threw that one, Paul. I don't know if the if
- 32:32Speaker 6: the talking Heads caught that one or sorry the no
- 32:34Speaker 6: it all's down below, but then just walked Cold Strange.
- 32:38Speaker 5: Back like roller we did. We didn't catch that. Not
- 32:42Speaker 5: a great sign.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Does Cold Strange look like he's put on any good weight.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I think a little bit, yeah, because he needed to right.
- 32:51Speaker 7: Yeah, his upper body to me looks a little bit yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 7: a little bit thicker. I'm not sure about that.
- 32:56Speaker 6: He still is more of an athletic build than a
- 32:59Speaker 6: yeah kind of they're a fatty offensive lineman.
- 33:02Speaker 5: That's they're fat, but you know, it's just that big thing.
- 33:04Speaker 5: But they got the belly usually.
- 33:06Speaker 7: I just really hope that all this zone stuff is
- 33:08Speaker 7: not strictly because it fits him the best.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Right kind of choice draft.
- 33:16Speaker 4: You got some sort of nickel package over here. I
- 33:21Speaker 4: got a lot of defensive backs out there. Jack Jones
- 33:23Speaker 4: part of that group.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Yeah, Mac Wilson off the edge.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Holds it by Jalen Hurt.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I liked it a little bit.
- 33:36Speaker 7: Jack It a little bit of hesitation on on that.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Throw is a drop by Juju.
- 33:41Speaker 7: Yeah, it's seemed like Juju kind of stopped and there's
- 33:44Speaker 7: a little bit of hesitation there.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Hands.
- 33:46Speaker 7: But that that the play action worked for what it's worth.
- 33:51Speaker 4: And just to clarify on that, there's a lot of
- 33:54Speaker 4: mixing and matching in and out. Like Gonzalas was not
- 33:57Speaker 4: on that play and he's pretty much been with that
- 33:59Speaker 4: group all you know, all five days so far. So
- 34:02Speaker 4: I don't want to say that, Oh Jack Jones, maybe
- 34:05Speaker 4: they got some good news on him.
- 34:06Speaker 5: I don't think that's accurate.
- 34:08Speaker 6: Yeah, so this is this is an interesting front with
- 34:11Speaker 6: Keon White and Barmore at the ends and Gotcha on
- 34:14Speaker 6: the nose, and then with Board on the middle and
- 34:18Speaker 6: Tavai and Jennings nothing nothing there for them. I just
- 34:31Speaker 6: watching the defense and that's as I want to do.
- 34:34Speaker 7: Yeah, it looks like the defense on the right field's
- 34:37Speaker 7: going off cards, I'm assuming so is the defense over here.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Bill is on to our left. He's with the McSorley group.
- 34:45Speaker 5: Yeah, with the first the first team dye, which it is.
- 34:51Speaker 6: It is interesting watching though, just without mccordy, that they
- 34:55Speaker 6: really do just kind of rotate those safeties through and
- 34:57Speaker 6: everybody's kind of playing everywhere.
- 34:59Speaker 1: So it's it's, uh, you know.
- 35:01Speaker 6: I don't really buy into like, oh, well, now we're
- 35:03Speaker 6: even more predictable, just because Devin mccorty was really good.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And I don't want to say that.
- 35:07Speaker 6: You know, the predictability of Devin McCarty being in center
- 35:10Speaker 6: field could could really be a bad thing. But they
- 35:13Speaker 6: do seem comfortable kind of spinning the dial with those guys,
- 35:16Speaker 6: so you know, maybe it we'll give him a little
- 35:18Speaker 6: bit of a advantage. At times you're not quite sure
- 35:21Speaker 6: who's going to be dropping.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Out coming forward. It seems like this is like the prelude.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Yeah, the pace is definitely a little slow, but hopefully
- 35:34Speaker 4: it's ramping up to something soon.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Because if it doesn't, what do we were in Pats for?
- 35:38Speaker 1: We were right, We need to try to make us hot.
- 35:45Speaker 5: The Yates of Hell remains unoccupied.
- 35:48Speaker 1: To work that in.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that's good.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Can't let a day go by. Nice cut, remandra Ken, har.
- 35:59Speaker 7: He looks.
- 36:00Speaker 5: He looks surprisingly quicker to me. Didn't seem quite as uh.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I think he just probably drops some weight.
- 36:07Speaker 7: That was an outside zone rep, though, and that's probably
- 36:10Speaker 7: one of the better outside zone reps i've seen them
- 36:12Speaker 7: have practice. Bent it up right, that's exactly.
- 36:15Speaker 4: How he got that sincere and gave him a little
- 36:19Speaker 4: fist bump, Vinny, good guy nine Harris Right, Yeah, trust
- 36:29Speaker 4: I don't know how you guys can see stuff up
- 36:31Speaker 4: here so far away.
- 36:34Speaker 5: Next soarly back to pass would have got nice play.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Donnie Pittsburgh writes in Andrew, he said a guy from
- 36:46Speaker 1: named Chad Graff from the Athletic Rating Mack. He says,
- 36:51Speaker 1: in summary, he pitches Max can't can't perform it so
- 36:54Speaker 1: far as in the faller category, specifically citing a lack
- 36:58Speaker 1: of throw timing in chemistry with his receivers. How does
- 37:02Speaker 1: that analysis make you all feel about Max's ability to
- 37:05Speaker 1: improve his game with the addition of O'Brian.
- 37:09Speaker 7: The fifth on thee.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna play the fifth.
- 37:11Speaker 4: I mean, I would say that there's something accuracy to
- 37:14Speaker 4: the point of the timing hasn't been there. I would
- 37:17Speaker 4: agree with that. I what am I reading into that?
- 37:19Speaker 4: I'm kind of with the boys like not a lot.
- 37:23Speaker 5: It just kind of looks the same to me. I mean,
- 37:24Speaker 5: it's just Mac has been Mac for better or worse.
- 37:27Speaker 6: And as I said at the top, the thing that's just,
- 37:30Speaker 6: you know, I want to see is some of the
- 37:32Speaker 6: downfield stuff.
- 37:33Speaker 5: And it was inconsistent and sporadic last year, but at.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Least you know, he hit on a couple of downfield pros,
- 37:39Speaker 6: and I mean, he hasn't had much opportunity. They've been
- 37:41Speaker 6: in the red zone, but you know, it's hard to
- 37:43Speaker 6: look at their red zone performance over the first four
- 37:46Speaker 6: days of camp and feel encouraged, you know. I mean,
- 37:49Speaker 6: I'm sure when they get into game situations and Bill
- 37:50Speaker 6: O'Brien can game plan and attack defenses and put guys
- 37:54Speaker 6: in right positions, that it'll be a.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Little bit easier for him. But I would just say
- 37:58Speaker 5: generally Mac isn't really raising the level of.
- 38:01Speaker 4: All and I think not only Max not lifting it,
- 38:03Speaker 4: but I think the receivers are not necessarily built to
- 38:06Speaker 4: just go out and make a play one on one. Now,
- 38:09Speaker 4: I'll go back to your guy Pop. You know, maybe
- 38:12Speaker 4: maybe he's one of those guys that can can find
- 38:15Speaker 4: out figure out ways to do some of those things.
- 38:18Speaker 4: But right now, I agree with you guys, the most
- 38:21Speaker 4: successful play seem to be when they're confusing the defense
- 38:24Speaker 4: as opposed to when they're beating the defense.
- 38:25Speaker 1: All right, are they doing special teams? Now? Okay? I
- 38:29Speaker 1: feel like the energy is getting like I've.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Really rubbed off on Fred.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Well, I just want to make you got to take
- 38:34Speaker 1: a break at some point, Okay, so why don't we
- 38:37Speaker 1: do that? But before we do, I just want to

- 41:15Speaker 5: Maybe you should put your head.
- 41:18Speaker 4: All right, Yeah, while we were gone, Unfortunately, not great news.
- 41:23Speaker 5: We'll see what it is.
- 41:24Speaker 4: Cold strange spending some time with the trainers, Evan, did
- 41:28Speaker 4: you see the play when he went.
- 41:31Speaker 7: Not Lawrence Guy's fault, but he was tangled up with
- 41:34Speaker 7: Lawrence Guy. And this blocking drill that they're doing right
- 41:36Speaker 7: now looked to me like it was a little bit
- 41:39Speaker 7: of a twist of the knee. And to be hopeful,
- 41:42Speaker 7: I think maybe it was just the brace might have
- 41:44Speaker 7: gotten and dig dug into him, you know, and the
- 41:46Speaker 7: brace kind of twists off and then sort of digs
- 41:49Speaker 7: into your your leg like that. If you want to
- 41:51Speaker 7: be optimistic, I would say that that's.
- 41:54Speaker 6: Bill just went over and checked on him. He's walking
- 41:56Speaker 6: back to the athletic training area.
- 41:58Speaker 1: He does look like he's walking better now than when
- 42:00Speaker 1: he first got up. But they loosened his left knee
- 42:03Speaker 1: brace and he's walking into the shed with the trainer
- 42:08Speaker 1: for the team. Belichick came over and checked, kind of
- 42:10Speaker 1: nodded his head and it walked away. So it was
- 42:14Speaker 1: a quick update from the trainer.
- 42:15Speaker 4: So I'm hopeful it was like they were shielding so
- 42:19Speaker 4: I couldn't see what if they were doing the ACL
- 42:21Speaker 4: test or anything. I'm sure they did, but I didn't
- 42:25Speaker 4: actually get a chance to see it. Yeah, I mean,
- 42:28Speaker 4: hopefully we'll get good news he's back in that training
- 42:30Speaker 4: area now.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 6: So kind of an interesting drill here where you have
- 42:36Speaker 6: like lineman versus defensive lineman on either side of the
- 42:39Speaker 6: center and the quarterback and it seems like they're either
- 42:43Speaker 6: throwing the ball or tossing it. Interesting drill. I don't
- 42:46Speaker 6: remember seeing this one.
- 42:47Speaker 7: Yeah, this is They do this all the time. This
- 42:49Speaker 7: is one of my favorites because you're you're really working
- 42:52Speaker 7: on leveraging the block right, So clearly the running back
- 42:56Speaker 7: has to read whether you go inside or outside, and
- 42:58Speaker 7: then the blocker needs to go ahead and and wallow
- 43:01Speaker 7: it off which other direction he needs, And it's just
- 43:04Speaker 7: kind of good to isolate these guys one on one
- 43:07Speaker 7: like this other so you don't have to see through
- 43:09Speaker 7: a mess of people to kind of be able to
- 43:11Speaker 7: look at everybody. I thought a couple of good ones
- 43:15Speaker 7: from from Matt Sokole, which I think is notable because
- 43:18Speaker 7: he's made some good catches and UH and team drills
- 43:21Speaker 7: as well, and he's been a pretty good blocker from
- 43:23Speaker 7: what I've seen. Two and we talk about that third
- 43:26Speaker 7: tight end spot. Maybe somebody to come in and block
- 43:29Speaker 7: and Bill Murray, Bill Murray throwing a few good ones too.
- 43:32Speaker 7: One just now on on Christian Barmore. So a couple
- 43:35Speaker 7: of guys I thought stood out, and I thought McDermott
- 43:38Speaker 7: held his own pretty well too. But I think the
- 43:42Speaker 7: sole Sol had a really good block on Jelanie to
- 43:45Speaker 7: Vaih to clear them out and turn them outside. If
- 43:49Speaker 7: they're gonna win that tight end three job, it's gonna
- 43:52Speaker 7: it's gonna be blocking, it's not gonna be pass catching.
- 43:57Speaker 5: I'll be stealing that for the blog.
- 44:00Speaker 7: Go for it. I love that droll. That's that makes
- 44:05Speaker 7: it so much easier because I think for all of us,
- 44:07Speaker 7: when there's eleven guys and there's yeah right, and when
- 44:12Speaker 7: you just have people on an island like that, you
- 44:14Speaker 7: can really tell who who's doing well.
- 44:16Speaker 6: Part of the advantage of being up here too, because
- 44:18Speaker 6: I'm not sure how much the the know it all
- 44:21Speaker 6: time could get access to seat like a site line
- 44:23Speaker 6: to see all those reps.
- 44:28Speaker 7: It'll be in blogs and it'll be in the Trench
- 44:29Speaker 7: report today.
- 44:30Speaker 1: To now we're on to punt.
- 44:38Speaker 5: What do you guys think of socle I mean, I agree, I.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Think he's doing what he needs to do right now,
- 44:43Speaker 6: and it's playing about third tight end. I mean that,
- 44:46Speaker 6: you know, it doesn't really feel like it feels a little
- 44:49Speaker 6: tenuous to think that you can go through through the
- 44:51Speaker 6: season with just Henry and Kasiki playing.
- 44:53Speaker 4: There's no way they're going to do that.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Now.
- 44:55Speaker 4: At the very least, they'll have a couple on the
- 44:57Speaker 4: practice squad. But if you want to us multiple tight
- 45:01Speaker 4: ends for any length of time, you need more than two.
- 45:05Speaker 4: You know, Like, if you go into a game and
- 45:07Speaker 4: you have your game plan is, well, we think we're
- 45:10Speaker 4: going to operate and who's that that miss that pun
- 45:13Speaker 4: miles miles front. If you think you're going to go
- 45:16Speaker 4: into a game and have any significant amount of your
- 45:19Speaker 4: game plan you know, devoted to having two tight ends,
- 45:22Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden in the first series, one.
- 45:24Speaker 5: Of them goes down.
- 45:25Speaker 4: What do you well, I guess we couldn't play today
- 45:27Speaker 4: because our.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Game plan was two tight ends.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, so you got to have more than
- 45:31Speaker 4: more than two to be able to play that way.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure is excited about it.
- 45:35Speaker 7: I also think that one of if you're going to
- 45:37Speaker 7: play a lot of twelve, one of them's got to
- 45:40Speaker 7: be able to inline block. And I don't know if
- 45:43Speaker 7: that's really going to be a Sickies game at all.
- 45:45Speaker 7: And I think Henry last year his blocking definitely took
- 45:48Speaker 7: a step back and he's more of a of a
- 45:51Speaker 7: stalemate blocker anyways, and the guy that's really going to
- 45:53Speaker 7: clear somebody out. So if you're going to be effective
- 45:56Speaker 7: and first down out of twelve personnel, then someone's gonna
- 45:58Speaker 7: have to be able to throw a block. And I
- 46:00Speaker 7: think that's where Socle comes in potentially. And I know
- 46:04Speaker 7: that's not what people want to hear. They want to
- 46:05Speaker 7: hear that Henry and Gazeki are going to play together.
- 46:07Speaker 7: But if twelve personnel is going to be a big
- 46:09Speaker 7: part of their early down offense, I could see somebody
- 46:12Speaker 7: like Socle. And I've also mentioned Johnny Lumpkin in the
- 46:14Speaker 7: past as being a guy that strictly plays on first
- 46:18Speaker 7: down and short yardage and things like that.
- 46:20Speaker 4: He looks that that part, without question, out of out
- 46:24Speaker 4: of all the tight ends. If you're asking for one
- 46:26Speaker 4: to be like sort of that three blocking specialist, that
- 46:30Speaker 4: would be him. But you know, I don't know if
- 46:33Speaker 4: he does enough of the other stuff to warn a
- 46:35Speaker 4: rosters Barbles, you know, to see what this is. You know,
- 46:38Speaker 4: in the preseason games and those joint practices and stuff,
- 46:41Speaker 4: you start to see how they employ these guys and
- 46:43Speaker 4: you get a better idea what they're thinking. Well, another
- 46:47Speaker 4: bomb for Barrenger Man, he does get some hang time.
- 46:50Speaker 6: Yeah, what was the feeling down there with the punding yesterday?
- 46:54Speaker 7: Because I thought they both got there.
- 46:56Speaker 4: They were both excellent. They were both excellent early then
- 46:59Speaker 4: late when they were doing those little updowns while they
- 47:01Speaker 4: were punting and the rest of the team was on
- 47:04Speaker 4: the conditioning hill. I thought Weightman struggled a little bit,
- 47:06Speaker 4: but they both were killing the ball yesterday for the
- 47:09Speaker 4: most part.
- 47:10Speaker 1: That's another one. Let's see what Corlis has.
- 47:22Speaker 4: A lot of his have been short all of a sudden,
- 47:25Speaker 4: Like the last I'd say Weightman, I mean he lost
- 47:28Speaker 4: the juice. Yeah, I don't know if it was something
- 47:30Speaker 4: that they're working on or what. This was a good one. Yeah,
- 47:36Speaker 4: turned it over.
- 47:37Speaker 6: As they say, is that when it all of a
- 47:40Speaker 6: sudden gets into spiral mode, like at the at the Apex.
- 47:43Speaker 1: He has a couple of those.
- 47:44Speaker 5: I like those.
- 47:45Speaker 4: I think we had some phone calls that you might
- 47:47Speaker 4: need to get to it.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I can't.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Okay, I thought Matt said to go to a phone call.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Just to give you a close strange update. They set
- 47:57Speaker 1: up a table. They tested both his knees for that
- 48:00Speaker 1: you know what that ACL test and everything, so I
- 48:03Speaker 1: think they were kind of comparing how one felt against
- 48:07Speaker 1: the other. So he's just kind of sitting there talking
- 48:11Speaker 1: with the assistant trainer right now, putting his shoes back on.
- 48:16Speaker 4: So I don't know, we'll see, didn't get that one turned.
- 48:20Speaker 7: Yeah, the punting bat not to go too long on
- 48:26Speaker 7: the punters, but.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Let's say we got time.
- 48:29Speaker 7: It's kind of a dead heat right now. I feel like,
- 48:32Speaker 7: you know, both guys have their thing. I think Corlis
- 48:34Speaker 7: Weightman's a little bit more consistent, but bar Baringer can
- 48:39Speaker 7: do this and flip the field. But there are times
- 48:43Speaker 7: where he shanks it, so it's a little bit more inconsistent,
- 48:46Speaker 7: but he has a bigger leg. It depends on what
- 48:49Speaker 7: they're looking for, I think in terms of do you
- 48:51Speaker 7: want a guy that can really flip field position or
- 48:53Speaker 7: are you more looking for a guy that's just gonna
- 48:55Speaker 7: You're gonna know what you got right, You're gonna get
- 48:57Speaker 7: it up there in four seconds and it's gonna be
- 48:59Speaker 7: exactly in this same spot. Every time.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I feel like they're usually option B.
- 49:06Speaker 7: I would I would tend to agree with I think
- 49:09Speaker 7: consistency is more important to them, and being able to
- 49:13Speaker 7: control the ball I think is big too.
- 49:14Speaker 5: That I think that's really big for them.
- 49:16Speaker 4: The directional punts of plus fifty work and things like that, Yep,
- 49:20Speaker 4: I think more important.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Alright, Eleven's.
- 49:26Speaker 6: Yeah wait, actually yeah, all right, so what do we got?
- 49:30Speaker 7: Says the first padded eleven my pool and Marty mop.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Was my pool in a red jersey and playing linebackers.
- 49:38Speaker 6: So this is probably maybe the same thing they did yesterday.
- 49:40Speaker 6: Maybe this is gonna be a little tempo, a little
- 49:41Speaker 6: two minute maybe looks it. Phil O'Brien barking out commands
- 49:47Speaker 6: seems like he's holding things up here. For a second something.
- 49:50Speaker 1: So I don't know if it's a good or bad sign,
- 49:52Speaker 1: but Cole Strange is putting his knee brace back on,
- 49:56Speaker 1: so he's still out. He's still out there and he's
- 49:59Speaker 1: in the thing putting his brace on, so that could
- 50:01Speaker 1: be a sign he's coming back out.
- 50:05Speaker 4: In the meantime, who took his spot at left guard?
- 50:09Speaker 1: It looks like maffy, maffy.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Yep, that's good, Yep.
- 50:14Speaker 7: That's interesting. They only had one side of the line rush.
- 50:18Speaker 7: One side of the line got a rep of pass
- 50:20Speaker 7: rush past protection the other side.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Just to to deuce his point. You know, you got
- 50:25Speaker 4: a guy out there, you know, full patch.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Here we go. H there's a guy out there with
- 50:29Speaker 5: a red jersey.
- 50:30Speaker 4: So you're kind of like, all right, this isn't gonna
- 50:32Speaker 4: be full tilt full time.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Yeah. But interesting that.
- 50:36Speaker 4: I mean that linebacker, you know, not not where he
- 50:39Speaker 4: was at the starter camp back irritating Evan at safety.
- 50:43Speaker 6: And it seems like Miles Brian is working his way
- 50:45Speaker 6: back in today with the ones that the nickel spot,
- 50:49Speaker 6: I should say, the star slots a handful of I
- 50:53Speaker 6: think he's been He's caught my eye a couple of
- 50:56Speaker 6: times not just the strange thing yesterday, but even in
- 50:58Speaker 6: those reps earlier, he's just a fire hydrant.
- 51:02Speaker 1: You know, it's tough, tough to move.
- 51:04Speaker 4: I like that he's trying to do some running down there.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Cold strange.
- 51:07Speaker 4: Yeah, some light jogs by the the Yates of Hell.
- 51:12Speaker 7: I don't think we need to push it on day.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Five now set out this practice.
- 51:17Speaker 6: Well, it's certainly a good sign that they're at least
- 51:19Speaker 6: letting him try it and not carting them off.
- 51:21Speaker 5: And yes, I agree.
- 51:28Speaker 7: Connor McDermott. I'll tell you he doesn't make a ton
- 51:31Speaker 7: of mistakes mentally. They just ran a little twist at
- 51:34Speaker 7: him and he was able to pick it up. Take
- 51:37Speaker 7: a little bit of coaching. It looks like from Adrian
- 51:38Speaker 7: clem now. But I just consistently I see him be
- 51:43Speaker 7: the most sturdy guy. He don't really see him get
- 51:45Speaker 7: beat badly too often. I know he's not the most
- 51:48Speaker 7: dynamic athlete, but.
- 51:50Speaker 1: You gotta take what you got at this point.
- 51:52Speaker 6: I mean, they don't. That tackle room is not very athletic.
- 52:01Speaker 6: Mac oh geez, all.
- 52:05Speaker 1: The linemen wearing those padded helmet you know, the pads
- 52:08Speaker 1: on the outside of the helmet. Just an FYI Riley
- 52:12Speaker 1: Reef on for a ride on that one.
- 52:14Speaker 7: And ninety two together is a mean group. I mean
- 52:17Speaker 7: they just they just dented the entire left side of
- 52:21Speaker 7: that pocket. It was a brief.
- 52:23Speaker 1: And I think brief.
- 52:25Speaker 6: Reef just lost his footing and it almost looked like
- 52:28Speaker 6: it was like one of the guys.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Fell down.
- 52:32Speaker 5: Trying to all right.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Zeppian so kind of interesting.
- 52:39Speaker 6: I don't know, Mapu and Tabaire your first two linebackers,
- 52:42Speaker 6: and you get Bentley out there, Bentley and mack Wilson.
- 52:48Speaker 5: Jack Jones, Marcus Jones in the.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Corner spots looking good. Complete Is that Pop again.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Again? There?
- 53:04Speaker 1: He is all over the place. Pop Douglas.
- 53:08Speaker 6: I decided yesday because everyone was asking was it Popper
- 53:10Speaker 6: or or is it Tomorrow? He's like, whatever, whatever you
- 53:12Speaker 6: wanna call it, I'm gonna call him Pop. Yeah, sure,
- 53:14Speaker 6: you know it's every team needs a popuse every time
- 53:17Speaker 6: I say Tomorrio.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I'm about to say to Mario Davis.
- 53:22Speaker 5: Strange, that is true, you do call him Davis. I
- 53:24Speaker 5: so I'm going you should know your guy. I know,
- 53:27Speaker 5: I think he's Evan Sky's.
- 53:28Speaker 7: Dropped by Andrew stub You can't drop that heard I
- 53:33Speaker 7: think that's it's Kean White wearing red underneath his pads
- 53:36Speaker 7: and my rolled up. So yeah, Andrew with a nice
- 53:40Speaker 7: anchor on Keon White.
- 53:41Speaker 5: There, h, Andrew is a big guy.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Thanks for asking.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I caught that that used to be Jonathan stupor stupid.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Thanks for asking Stupor.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Thanks for having.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Thanks, Matt.
- 53:59Speaker 6: I just showed Campbell the very first episode of south
- 54:03Speaker 6: Park last night. He's been dynasty south Park said all right, well,
- 54:05Speaker 6: what's the first one?
- 54:07Speaker 1: Who? So? Scott so well.
- 54:10Speaker 7: So always on the side of the quarterback, So.
- 54:13Speaker 5: Where's the fly? So not happy with that result? Explosive
- 54:18Speaker 5: what they may have heard that in the background, you
- 54:20Speaker 5: what are you yelling at?
- 54:22Speaker 4: So I'm starting to lose faith that we're going to
- 54:24Speaker 4: give any goal line?
- 54:25Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah today.
- 54:26Speaker 5: I don't recall us getting it any last year.
- 54:29Speaker 4: No, we haven't gotten it for a while, which.
- 54:34Speaker 5: Is just funny.
- 54:34Speaker 6: They spent like their whole time in the red zone
- 54:36Speaker 6: and then Pat's come on and they're like, all, let's
- 54:38Speaker 6: move it out to the forty.
- 54:39Speaker 7: Usually they do goal lined joints. I'm joint practices. I
- 54:43Speaker 7: think maybe they I don't know, more more competitive or
- 54:47Speaker 7: something like that or to save that for then I
- 54:50Speaker 7: don't know.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Well, as you said, it's way a cold, strange girl.
- 54:53Speaker 1: That's training cam. Well, so here's the sequence of events.
- 54:57Speaker 1: He was gonna put his brace on and then w
- 55:00Speaker 1: Aalen came back and said, hold on, we got to
- 55:02Speaker 1: test this out. So he was doing the little running
- 55:04Speaker 1: you saw. Then they brought over the orthopedic doctor and
- 55:08Speaker 1: now he's back on the table with the doctor inside. Yeah,
- 55:11Speaker 1: with the doctor looking at him. So they're going to
- 55:14Speaker 1: be extra extra careful.
- 55:16Speaker 4: I might need you to write a paragraph on that
- 55:18Speaker 4: and send it to me. Fritz checked out, all.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he stood up. He did some skipping.
- 55:27Speaker 4: But I was talking to Evan about that the other day,
- 55:29Speaker 4: like when guys get hurt and you see it happen
- 55:31Speaker 4: and you're like you can chronicle the play and then
- 55:34Speaker 4: like I lose them for the rest of.
- 55:35Speaker 5: The practice, Like did he go back? Yeah? This do
- 55:38Speaker 5: you do that?
- 55:40Speaker 7: Connor McDermott put in Ronnie Perkins in the ground.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Whoa, All right, well it's whoa.
- 55:45Speaker 5: It's not pumped.
- 55:45Speaker 1: The breaks on that a little bit.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Here's no pop dog and he's still popped.
- 55:50Speaker 7: Just give this to me.
- 55:52Speaker 4: I know, I know Yevin, he's such a killed you
- 55:54Speaker 4: all right, you got it.
- 55:55Speaker 6: Connor mcdermot's your guy, Evan, you're married twenty three season.
- 55:59Speaker 7: I can't. I can't back off to take that.
- 56:03Speaker 1: You're married to that one.
- 56:04Speaker 4: It's tough one to be taken ordered on.
- 56:09Speaker 5: I mean at this point though, I'll take anything they
- 56:11Speaker 5: can get at the tackle spot.
- 56:15Speaker 7: I think he caught that.
- 56:17Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think he was in bound.
- 56:20Speaker 4: That's a nice catch, but I don't think he was
- 56:21Speaker 4: in bound all right doing something though, although you know,
- 56:24Speaker 4: anytime you get that Booty Ronnie Perkins matchups Booty.
- 56:30Speaker 1: All right, not bad. Oh god.
- 56:38Speaker 6: So now we got map who playing a little little
- 56:40Speaker 6: deep safety too. So quite a couple of first days
- 56:43Speaker 6: for him, but it seems like he's kind of gotten
- 56:45Speaker 6: back into the mix where he wasn't and that was a.
- 56:48Speaker 5: Mere speed speed.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Roll web.
- 56:54Speaker 4: It's been a little uh drop, little slot, a little sloppy,
- 56:57Speaker 4: but some of the past catch today. I haven't seen
- 57:01Speaker 4: a lot of drops in the first few days. Mostly
- 57:05Speaker 4: all the incomplete passes had no chance of.
- 57:07Speaker 6: Being convinced right well, like that last one from McSorley
- 57:09Speaker 6: that was like.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Landed in the zone.
- 57:20Speaker 5: So yeah, you got Hawkins and Mapu at safety.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the low level reps. Oh nice, that's
- 57:29Speaker 1: a good little throat.
- 57:29Speaker 7: A lumpkin, good rep by Sam Roberts.
- 57:32Speaker 5: Evansky, lumpkin m s.
- 57:35Speaker 6: Evan's got lumpkin McDermott. All right, moving on.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm waiting for the more juice here is.
- 57:46Speaker 5: I don't have anything.
- 57:47Speaker 7: This juice, all the juice is happening in the trenches,
- 57:49Speaker 7: and you guys know, I watch it.
- 57:52Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of juice.
- 57:56Speaker 7: That's the Those guys are going at it a little.
- 58:00Speaker 1: But actually, who's seventeen Scottie Washington. He's banged up. He's
- 58:07Speaker 1: next up on the table.
- 58:08Speaker 5: And oh boy, seventeen he just went in.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go, pull another paragraph for you.
- 58:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but I can't really write about that. I have
- 58:15Speaker 4: no idea how.
- 58:18Speaker 5: Not exactly generating clicks.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Scotty, some Scotty Washington fans out there. Now we're into
- 58:30Speaker 1: special teams.
- 58:35Speaker 4: Yeah, hunting back the other way.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Hunting battle continues, Yates of Hell filling up. It's gotta
- 58:42Speaker 1: either gotta get some one on one.
- 58:44Speaker 5: There's somebody else going in there now too.
- 58:46Speaker 7: Sixty three, Yeah, saxty three has been hobbling all practice.
- 58:50Speaker 7: I don't know what's up with him.
- 58:53Speaker 1: And he would be Uh, that's chasing Hines.
- 58:56Speaker 5: I think that's what I thought.
- 58:57Speaker 7: Oh the lineman, Yeah, he's been and the thing limping
- 59:02Speaker 7: the whole practice.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I don't think it's bolding.
- 59:07Speaker 7: No, it's sixty three chasing minds.
- 59:08Speaker 5: He'd be a white shirt if it was right.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Wow, I was Bryant returning.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Yeah, let's see Berenger.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Yeah, they got a line waiting to get into the
- 59:27Speaker 1: training room there.
- 59:29Speaker 5: I'm surprised that they had.
- 59:30Speaker 6: That's so open here, Like now, that wasn't here when
- 59:32Speaker 6: I first got here. But that's that, that's not that
- 59:35Speaker 6: does not seem like, hey, let's have a window into
- 59:37Speaker 6: the athletic training rooms.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Every time somebody gets hurt, everyone sees what's going on.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Good news, Uh, strangers putting his brace back on. So
- 59:46Speaker 1: so that's up on him.
- 59:47Speaker 5: Days of our lives, the uh, it's on, it's off.
- 59:52Speaker 4: General about Franco still dead.
- 59:57Speaker 7: I like that they're really taking a lot of time
- 59:59Speaker 7: on these two man row combos on the goal line,
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: on these special teams drills happening with the quarterbacks and
- 1:00:07Speaker 7: just the receivers on one field and the special teams
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: going on the other field, and they're working all sorts
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: of different combinations down here.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Probably remember when we used to have the Hall of
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Fame drill. Yes, it was Brady Gronk.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that was fun, good times.
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: I wouldn't say this is quite on that.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Level, but is Pop Douglas down there though.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: That that would probably put it over the top. But
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: he's returned with.
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: The returners, dang it.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Which, by the way, I've been very impressed with his
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: ability to field punts on the run. Too much compliments
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: and now I was going to balance it out. Ball
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: security for him was an issue in college. Correct, No
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: one had that part of the scout in your port.
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: No.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: All security was an issue for Douglas in college.
- 1:01:03Speaker 7: I'm a big ball security security guy.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: You don't believe in that, you don't believe in not
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: turning the ball over.
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: They're they're good at coaching guys up.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that's another short one for just don't drop it,
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: and when you do, make sure someone's there to recover it.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: I mean it's not that hard.
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: You're right, Probably some of these weightment punts are just
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: kind of sure dying. Yeah, So maybe he's not the
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: consistency guy.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Yesterday the first round of punting, he was like one
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: bomb after the next. Then at the end when they
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: were doing that punting, as I said, when the guys
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: were running and they were running, he was a little
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: less consistent.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: As another boomer by Bearinger. But that's a nice punt.
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: Perfect. If he can punt it that far and direct
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: it like that where it's right in the on the sideline,
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: then it might be good.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Did Jake Bailey catch on anymore?
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: He's in Miami?
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Is it right?
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: Yep?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Dexter and Santa Rosa rightes in. I'm rooting for Mac
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Jones and hoping he pops off with a great season.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: That being said, I sort of understand why people out
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: there are rooting for Zappi during the sham Cam Newton
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: versus Mac Jones competition that was over weeks before they
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: cut can if we all did what Fred tells Patriots
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Nation and watch what Bill did instead of what he said,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: we would have seen it coming that they would go
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: with Mac based off of these initial practices with pads.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I'm looking at what they're doing and having Zappy in
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: any irregular positioning other than backup makes the sparks stay
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: alive on this competition. Is there anything there? How shocked
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: would you be if at the beginning of the season
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Bill goes to the podium and says we're gonna go
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: with Bailey Zappy.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: At the beginning of the season'd be I'd be completely
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: flowed by that. Yeah, so would I, especially especially based
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: on what we've seen in camp.
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: I think with the difference in the comparison between Mac
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: the Cam and Mack. Here to me is Mac legitimately
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: outplayed Cam Newton in that camp Like it wasn't It
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: wasn't just that he was the first round pick and
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: it was gonna go that way regardless. I really felt
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: like he played better than Cam did in that camp.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: See, I was in the in the camp of they're
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: basically the same. And if that's the case, why are
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: you gonna go with Cam Newton?
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: No sense?
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Now, I still expected Cam Newton to open the season
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: as a starter, And the only one in our group
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: that had Mac starting week one.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Was was Eric.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: If you recall, it's like the only thing he ever
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: got right, but he did, he was he was out
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: ahead of that one. I will continue to say, oh,
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: going down to the gods, Stay up, Stay up, a
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: little running game work. I will continue to say that
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: the death knell for Cam Newton was the COVID uh,
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: you know, all that's you know, the the vaccine and
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: the you know and all that stuff. I just think
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: that there was a lack of reliability there and they
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: couldn't they couldn't take that chance. I think mac Jones
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: would have been the starter eventually, if not in if
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: not in week one, I don't think there's any question
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: about it. I agree with Evan. I think he was
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: better than Cam Newton.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: But and even if it was a little bit, you
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: had to go with.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: Matt, right, I mean, it was gonna happen inevitably. But
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: to me, the fact that it happened in week one
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: was solidified by Cam not being available for those Giants
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: joint practices.
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: Remember those yeptues, Yeah, ninety one jumped up, Yeah.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: And he got all of the reps in those joint practices.
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I thought he played pretty well in those joint practices.
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: Especially the first one. First one, he was really good. Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: Then they started spinning the dial on him the next
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: day and it wasn't quite as good.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: Remember, all the writers got all mad at the Giants
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: for blitzing.
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: Yeah, well Bill got mad at the Giants for blitzing.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Wink Martindale right on the dial. Not much there for
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: that run, but they lines are hitting, you know, probably
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: eighty eight.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: This is like the running game version of what they
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: did yesterday. So the starting in the middle of the field.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Running plays quickly with tempo, but there's a lot of
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: runs involved in in some play action off of it,
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: there's another uncovered guy wide.
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: Nice pocket there is that.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: Yeah, Kevin Harrison, Kevin Harris, and then I don't need
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: no Ezekiel right yet.
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: There you go, nice little pocket there by the offensive line.
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: I mean it is a it is a makeshift line
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: right now between refit LEC Tackle Mafia. Left guard Andrews
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: is the one stable piece right.
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: Now, since Fred hasn't offered any updates on Strange in
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: the last thirty five seconds, he's still working over here
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: in the Yates of Hell.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: He's working with one of the trainers hitting pads. They're
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: just gonna be extra careful have him go through all
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the motions of alignment before they actually put him out there.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: We got Zappi in with Pure Strong, who's that pop Douglas.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Douglas, he looks smooth. He looks smooth. He can absolutely fly. Yeah,
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: I mean he's quick as hell.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I mean it was a good pass too, by the way,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: right there.
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: I don't know if I don't know if Bentley would
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: have gotten him there. I think that was I don't
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: think he would have. I think that's Jalen Mills making
- 1:06:22Speaker 7: the tackle downfield.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: Or I don't think Bentley was going to get there
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: in time.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: There's another lap, yeah, Sam Roberts, Yeah, a couple off
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: sides for the wise earlier.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Yeah, they working on some time. I think that the
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: cadence because it looks like they're very excited when they
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: get somebody to jump.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: Also, just a little bit notable.
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: And I don't I don't want to blow these things
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: up too much, but Barmore kind of going with the
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: top ones that there too. Yeah, well after why Scott
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: outside put him in. But but guy, you know, guy
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: playing with Davis here in the second team. It's just
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: been a little things to monitor. I'd love to see
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: Barnmore be able to not be.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Just a situation pass rusher.
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they need some juice on early downs
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: like he has.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Nice protection.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: Oh nice hold.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Who you got?
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: Who do you have in the whole sixty sixty three? Yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: it's probably a flag the dB.
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: Yeah, Taekwon.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Back shoulder, couldn't come down with it.
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: Last last couple of practices, Taekwon has been with the
- 1:07:32Speaker 7: high end two's if you will, and uh he's he's
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: gotten open a little bit more in the last couple
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: of sessions, but we've got to see him do it
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: against Solace.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: Like a nice five place stretch. Yesterday he was really active.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: All right, Mac back out there with the with the
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: ones again, saying again Sam Roberts the left defensive end, so.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: And I'll take for what you will with the ones. Yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Parker on the outside.
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: Yeah, that's tight package there, Tweet three tight ends on
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: left and.
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: Listen't it that was that was blocked?
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I said a run.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: By Connor McDermott again left side opened that up. McDermott
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: on the backside block, but it was Reef and Mafi.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: On the I mean, it's it's really kind of the
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: Harrison Strange uh and uh Strong show today. You know,
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: it doesn't didn't sem like we're getting much of a
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: Mandrae in the snow.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: I think he went down to the conditioning field.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Juju in the backfield, Juju with a catch, a little
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: swing pass Kyle Dugger versus taekwond.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: Exactly what I was just gonna say, Like, that's a
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: tough ask.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: So that one, well you said that Pop Douglas probably
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: would have been able to get by Bentley. That one
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: would have been a four yard lost.
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Ye.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: Yeah, Kyle Duggart, just you know, you can Thornton. You
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: cannot ask Taekwon Thorton to make that block. That's that's
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: one in the game that you're making sure is.
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: Not happening Alabama his own left.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: Oh so yeah, that time the combo block held up
- 1:09:40Speaker 7: and Tobai was free to the ball. That's what we
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: saw a lot last year was it wasn't really the
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: first level. Is that they couldn't get that second level
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: guy blocked because they couldn't get up to the second
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: level because they're getting held up at the first level.
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: So but that that was Godshaw, who's had a nice practice,
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: I think on the nose, he's he's been really difficul.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: He's one of the best alignemen in the league.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: Defensive so defensive.
- 1:10:05Speaker 7: Line Yeah, him and Wise have been solid. I know
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: whis ran that lap. But other than that.
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: Job, Bill Murray though there check down and Kevin Harris,
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: uh night. Nice little block by Bill Murray on our
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: got chall right there.
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: I'll get Bill Murray this. He's physical and he's got
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: a good motor and you can tell that he's he
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: blocks through that whistle at old cliche.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: So when does he arrive at the stadium and when
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: does he leave?
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: He's generally among the first to arrive, among the first.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: I don't know about when he leaves.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: He's the first one, but he's the first one out too.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: He he's got stuff to do.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: First one in, first one out.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: You know how that goes.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: It's the way to do it.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: Nobody works anyhow. JJ Taylor in there.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: Yeah, the stuff they were working on earlier, pop not
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: too much there on that one.
- 1:11:12Speaker 7: The gandered Phillips probably would have held him up enough
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: to let the convoy come.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: But he made the catch.
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: This is this is what they were doing earlier, right,
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: just these little running back swing passes and yep, you
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: got a kind of a combo block there from the
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: receiver up front.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, this is all built off the running game. Not
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: much there on that run.
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: Cody Russy, but a quality with the jersey rolled up
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: that he was in the middle of that I can't.
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: He usually has a white shirt underneath.
- 1:11:58Speaker 7: Yeah, so yeah, it was a.
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: These are things that's like twenty years from now and
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: we'll be like, oh, yeah.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: Remember Daniel Kuala used to roll his shirt up and
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: have a white shirt underneath. Why do you know that.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I'm sure there's already those things.
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: Oh and it looks like cool Strange is making this
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: way back over.
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: It's the field now and he's been handed back his helmet.
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: J J. Taylor rumbling, stumbling, bumbling.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: I missed that play because I smooth.
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: Uh. Is it a handoff?
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: Yeah, it's an outside zone handoff and a nice nice
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: play by Marty Mapu putting his nose in there, reading
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: it out, pacing out the running back.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Would be a glorious day when he gets that red
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: jersey off.
- 1:12:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I think it's a positive that he's
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: not on pup honestly. Yeah, I'll take it.
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: Nose peck right, peck surgery.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: That was what.
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: Yeah, so you got Marcus Jones playing a little little
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: safety too. I was just kind of flipping with yeah Phillips, Yeah,
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: oh pop, he's got him.
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: Marcus Jones. I don't see it as a corner. Yeah,
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: that was a tough play there.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he had him beat passes a little high. Yeah.
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: I would have liked to see him, to Paul's pointing,
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: a little more burst, you know, because they they basically
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: what they flipped Phillips and Jones. So Jones was just
- 1:13:30Speaker 6: kind of waiting for for Douglas to get off the line,
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: and Douglas ran across, and I mean even off the ball,
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: Marcus just couldn't couldn't catch up Jase Douglas.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: It's Marcus Jones.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I mean, like that's not like no, but it's Douglas.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: But it's not something like Rodney Randall out there. It's
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Marcus Jones is like one of them. He can run,
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: but the best athletes on the field.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: But who's going to cover Douglas.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: Oh, evidently not Marcus Jones.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: Oh we got another Uh oh.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Oh it was down three.
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: Uh I can't tell his jersey's rolled up.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: It's three.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: See him banging a turf? Yeah it is twenty nine?
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: Maybe is that Hawkins?
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, I think he just bang knees
- 1:14:21Speaker 7: with somebody.
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: The old the old knee bang.
- 1:14:26Speaker 7: It just doesn't sound the old knee bang.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Yeah, been around since the beginning of football around bone.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: Best story as old as side's why you wear those
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: little knee pad, the little knee ones that hang over
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: there your kneecap that don't really seem to do anything.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: He's being helped off.
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: Like the thigh pads I get, I know, and even
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: the hip pads, but like the butt crack pad and
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: the little knee pads, I never quite caught those in football.
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: While you wear those, oh I liked it. I liked
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: knee pads.
- 1:14:57Speaker 7: The butt crack pad is big.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: Yeah, you fall on that, you get hurt, protect your
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: butt cracked.
- 1:15:03Speaker 7: You don't want to break your tailbone.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: You never got sacked. Huh you need that? Yeah? Oh yeah,
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: I got you.
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: Now as a six ft one hundred and ninety pound
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: offensive and defensive lineman, I uh yeah, I didn't.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: I didn't A took pride to never getting put on
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: my backside.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: I got put on my backside every single down I played.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: Again, we didn't use pads my day traces.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: So early time.
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: Is that running back here strong? That's a little bounce.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Bounce with me.
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: The conditioning guys are back, but I don't none of
- 1:16:04Speaker 7: them have helmets, so I don't think it's back back.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: But so who was I see.
- 1:16:08Speaker 7: Trent Brown and Judean and Remandre.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: Okay, I have all three of those guys.
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: Shot a good three pretty good players.
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: Far more sack rushing on sixty six. Lucy, Yeah, I'm
- 1:16:28Speaker 7: not sure, sir, they like Rusie. I think it's on
- 1:16:31Speaker 7: the active roster as by the end of the year
- 1:16:33Speaker 7: last year if I'm not mistaken, but have a little
- 1:16:36Speaker 7: bit of a rough practice.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: So thumbs down.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Well you get Jake Andrews out.
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: You got to make the most of these opportunities, right,
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: Mick Sorely Again.
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: Now, do you think that they're u that they they
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: have an offer out potentially to a running back and
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: they and they would sign him if he would sign
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: said offer, or do you think that they're maybe slow
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: playing it a little bit just to see.
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: What they got in some of their young guys to
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: see exactly.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: Great question, Great question. My guess is they have an
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: offer out there to Ezekieler.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: That's what I heard that they're really Yeah you heard that.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I heard that.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: Yeah, is this another one of those musket fire things.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: No, I thought. I think Reese mentioned it this morning,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: that there's an offer out there.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I did not care to say that. I might
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: have been blacking out.
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: This tough like you know what what what you know,
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: Let's just say the Jets offer Cook something.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: You know, it could be way more, could be way less. Like,
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: you know, it's kind of hard to make the offer before.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: You feel like the market for these running backs that
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: are you know, want a lot of money.
- 1:17:48Speaker 7: And yeah, I think Dalvin you gotta wait and see
- 1:17:51Speaker 7: what He's the first domino to fall. I think once
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: Dalvin signed somewhere, then I think you'll see Zeke sign
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: and maybe even Leonard Fournett sign.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: At that If you're one of the teams that is
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: interested in four Nett or Elliott, like you don't want
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: Cook to sign first.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Right, you do that for yeah, because he's gonna make
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: a lot more than those What's what's going on here?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: That's the stuff getting hurt here, guys, team's getting all
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: everybody's gathering in the middle.
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: This feels like we got Bill in the teaching moment.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I'm not sure.
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: We're gonna hit right, now, but let's be respectful and
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: Bill likes what's going on out there.
- 1:18:30Speaker 7: At the same time with the running backs, though, I
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: think for the teams like the Patriots that have shown
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: a little bit of interest in Dalvin Cook, I think
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: they're waiting to see if they have a chance at
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: Dalvin Cook before they just swoop in on on Zeke Elliott.
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: So yeah, Bill, Bill's got the whole squad around him
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: right now.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, some palms up.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Did you guys see anything like No, I haven't seen
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: it being overly chippy.
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: I mean.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: The first time they hit it, so you see a
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: little like after the whistle.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: But I don't think it was that. I think it's
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: just I think just.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: Are they dragging you? Yeah, he's trying to lift them up.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: They're just not sharp enough.
- 1:19:16Speaker 7: Perhaps seemed like he didn't just speculate him. It seemed
- 1:19:20Speaker 7: like he didn't like the the tempo of getting into
- 1:19:24Speaker 7: that whatever they were about to do next. Guy's kind
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: of walking around and things like that.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Maybe that's what it is, because he is there's a
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: lot of handwaving. That's usually when he talks like that.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: He's not happy.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he's what are we doing?
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: Paul can tell you from experience.
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: Geez really landing on right now, we'll see what's next.
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: An extended talk.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: They're going with the ball cap this year, not the visor. Yeah,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: that red hoodie man.
- 1:20:04Speaker 7: That was a long That was a long talk.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: It was about two minutes.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, they're breaking it up. Now get the clock on
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: I did.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: And now we are at the eleven yard line.
- 1:20:22Speaker 6: It's like we got Matt Sokell out there.
- 1:20:28Speaker 7: That's Henry and Socle. That's the two tight ends, looks like,
- 1:20:34Speaker 7: and then.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Juju and Parker. I got my goal line. I got
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: my goal line touchdown. It was a nice cut. Who
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: was that Harris?
- 1:20:50Speaker 7: Harris tem Bentley Hadham.
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it was a touchdown, but it
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: was still a good cut.
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: I don't think he would have gotten all the.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Way Yeah no, but he would have gotten one or two.
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: But we got a little goal line.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: I'm very happy. Paul can go home happy.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Maybe that's what he was preparing, that's why he brought
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: him in. Look, we're gonna do a goal line now.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: I don't I don't want any chippiness. That's I could
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: speak to friendly.
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: That's not the way it's designed.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: And you got to catch that.
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: That's not the way it's designed. That's not a good
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: throw either. He probably should have caught it, but not
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: a good throw, a handoff of play action fake to nobody,
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: and then the timing was all off.
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: Yeah, that looks like a miscommunication, busted play.
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess Bill didn't say no miscommunications or busted
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: players in this two minutes ago.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: Well, Bill, you didn't say anything about miscommunication.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: You mean we have to talk. It was implied.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean based on you know, sort of pulling
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: for Harris a little bit. You'd like to see him
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: make that catch, but not a good throw.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: Jonathan Jones, Yeah, I think j Jones would have had
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: you to.
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: Sniff that one out.
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: Yeah, although I will say that once they actually are
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: tackling to the ground, that's that's a tackle that you
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: hope Juju breaks. I mean, that's why he's here.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: Yeah, good play, though, I mean, you know, just generally
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: it didn't wasn't really.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Jeez.
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: I've been a little underwhelmed with him.
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie.
- 1:22:21Speaker 7: Yeah, Juju, I think he's definitely some one of those
- 1:22:25Speaker 7: guys he's not gonna get open on his own like
- 1:22:29Speaker 7: we've been talking about. He's someone that's gonna be a
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: part of scheme things that will hopefully get him open.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: I think Gonzalez has owned him and that's not good.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Maybe it is good, right.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: No, it's not good. Is that strong?
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Not much there? This is the twos in now.
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: I was like, all right, there's still some some vets
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: out there, even though it's the second D with Tabai
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: and Carl Davis.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: Hey, Kendrick Bourne, alright, say hello.
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: I think Amphony Jennings would have.
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: Overly celebrates put Billy Zappy into the socios dot com field.
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: Yeah again, Mike nice Job.
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: Was there to make the block, but it was late,
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: and I think Amphony Jennings did him a favor by
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: not running him.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Over blasting him into Zappy.
- 1:23:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: Still though, good to see Kendrick Bourne get involved, moving
- 1:23:39Speaker 6: a ball up to the five.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: Circle emotion and firks.
- 1:23:48Speaker 7: That was a good run.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Yeah another jump, nice jump cut in the hole.
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: See.
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: The whole Mapoo thing is interesting to me. The guy
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: who was the most physical on that play was Moppoo
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: and if I'm an anybody on offense, I'm not hitting
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: him right.
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: That caused a.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: Problem at joint practices one year a few years ago,
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: I forget who guy in red? Someone was in red
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: and they go and they were annoyed.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: That's annoying.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not fair. You got a red shirt and
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: you're you're getting chippy. No, Now mcsorley's out there.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: Oh boy, be nice, there.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: You go, jas cool? What's that light a crowd today
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: than we've had the last four days. Yeah, that's for sure.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: People back to work.
- 1:24:56Speaker 7: You gotta know the schedule, you gotta know pads is what.
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: It really is fun to.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: Go come on, especially like I mean, there's good seats
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: to be had too, so it almost like double reason
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: to come.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: On this day, right.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Pop in motion probably would have been a sound Yeah.
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: Oh and Rally Web can't come down with the throw
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: in the back of the end zone that.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: He was closed in on the quarterback.
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: I really love that play design though, there's just so
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: much window dressing and misdirection going on. You got the
- 1:25:35Speaker 7: back action and Pop Douglas going to the right and
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: then you have the route coming back to the left
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: and that those are the types of routes where the
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: receiver gets lost and all that.
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: I was just thinking the same thing like these plays
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: just looks like there's more going on. It's not so straightforward.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Folksre in motion hand off up.
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: The middle and he's in kind of yeah, I.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: Thought there was a little bit of a hole.
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: I think he was in. Yeah. Nice nice kickout block
- 1:26:06Speaker 7: by Ferksker on the split zone, comes across formation, makes
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: that kickout block.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: It comes the ones back in.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: And they're putting it down on the one.
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: This could be live, but the two checked out.
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: Maybe the two put some music on getting to be.
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: Women and children might not want to be watching here.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: So we still have Mafi at left guard here next
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: to Andrews.
- 1:26:42Speaker 6: Yeah, so, but yeah, we got a real heavy defensive
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: line here with white guy Godshaw Davis and what.
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: This is six so line? This is imbalanced?
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: Yeah, this is this is pure goal line versus goal line.
- 1:26:56Speaker 7: D I think you got it there. But yeah, this
- 1:27:01Speaker 7: is interesting that they don't know about that close they
- 1:27:04Speaker 7: go with the sixth of the line.
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: Henry says, yes, I'm gonna go with him.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I need a goal line ref here.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I needed someone to give me a call and
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: that it was close, just a pile that was really close.
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: We're gonna have to go to review.
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: So you got r Reef and McDermott on the Oh no,
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: so you got yeah, you got Stupor at left tackle,
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: and then you got McDermott off his left and.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Who is our fullback right here?
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Evan?
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Yeah, that one would definitely got He got blowed up already,
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: fumbled those threes, double whammy.
- 1:27:46Speaker 7: Mac Wilson. Yeah, nice play by him, he was in there.
- 1:27:51Speaker 7: But interesting couple of interesting things.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: Who carried on that play? Was it? Uh?
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Why did I think it was strong?
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: I think it's Kevin Harris. I think it was strong,
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: but it would make more sense that it was Harris. Yeah,
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: well Harris is in the huddle right now. I didn't
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: see extreme, you know, someone run off and someone.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's over there, so you probably would.
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: Have seen it.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: It was.
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: It was. That's not good for my boy.
- 1:28:17Speaker 7: A couple you know, interesting little things. I know, can't
- 1:28:20Speaker 7: say too much about. We talked about, Okay, well what
- 1:28:22Speaker 7: are they going to do without a full back on
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: the roster when it comes to these short yarded situations
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: and we're seeing a little there you go a little
- 1:28:29Speaker 7: glimpse of what what they have in mind.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: I had enough shot. That's a throat in nowhere. That's
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: that corner, complete corner end zone that has not looked good.
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: Wow, not happy with the offense once again in case
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: our MIC's not picking that up.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: That needs to a lot of battle. I think so
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: might be rooting for Zappy.
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: You think he's rooting for himself.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: He wants to try to back in there.
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: I think he's thinking to himself, you know, if only
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: I came along, I mean, after.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: McSorley, who would you go to?
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: Probably so way the thing.
- 1:29:11Speaker 7: Zoe just has a soft spot for backup quarterback.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: All right, it z happy now, nice play?
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: Oh good, good second effort.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Uh oh, somebody's punching the ground.
- 1:29:25Speaker 7: That's Bill Bill Murray, not Bill Murray. Good practice for
- 1:29:30Speaker 7: Bill Murray. Now we're limping.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Everybody's jogging.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: I don't what time is it.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: GE's eleven two.
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: What time we get Well, we didn't start to We
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: started way later.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: I have no idea when this is going to end
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: because it started so late.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Well, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: little shorter because they you know, according to the schedule,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: they got seven days of practice in a row, so
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: they're going to ramp up throughout the week.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: Yeah, Max running over to the so I think it's
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: six But yeah, your point is taken. And they're also
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: in pads for the first time, and especially those guys
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: up front.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: We're doing a lot of a lot of banging.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Yep, right, Mike, yep. I think.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: So it looks like everyone's going down to the hills.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I mean, if they do what they did yesterday, then
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: after the hills, they came back and they did a
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: little bit of work after that.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: But that's just the post practice.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so you're calling.
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: It, Yeah, you're calling it.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: I guess that'll be uh it for today's practice. But
