- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Remember last week when we reviewed Mistletoe Murders and I
- 1:49Speaker 2: was like, I want to make an edit.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so I made one. I didn't technically make it.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I paid my teenage daughter's friend to make it.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It knows how to do.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're a way around how to make an edit. And
- 2:07Speaker 2: I gotta say it came out really well. I'm so
- 2:11Speaker 2: excited because if you want to see it, it is
- 2:14Speaker 2: on our Instagram in the reels. It currently has twenty
- 2:18Speaker 2: point two thousand views. That's wild, isn't it? And the
- 2:23Speaker 2: Sarah Drew also shared it, which made me super excited.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Yeah she did. She knows she's a baddie. Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I just that was like, the edit came out perfect.
- 2:33Speaker 2: It is exactly how it was feeling after watching episodes
- 2:37Speaker 2: one and two.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So she fully delivered on your vision. She did. Yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: it was great fun.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I'm very excited about it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: But let's talk episodes three and four. Are you ready
- 2:52Speaker 1: for a synopsis? Hit me?
- 2:55Speaker 2: After a string of suspicious accidents, Emily goes under hover
- 3:00Speaker 2: in the local choir to investigate. Sam, however, remains skeptical.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Violet takes on more responsibility at the shop when the
- 3:09Speaker 2: choir attacks escalate, Emily and Sam grow closer as they
- 3:13Speaker 2: work together to find the culprit. Emily helps a Violet
- 3:16Speaker 2: out of a precarious situation by tapping into her dark past. Hmmm. Interesting.
- 3:25Speaker 2: We have some new news and notes for this episode.
- 3:27Speaker 2: We're not going to run back everything from the previous episode,
- 3:31Speaker 2: but we do have a new director for episodes three
- 3:33Speaker 2: and four. Sherry White directed these episodes. Sherry is a writer,
- 3:38Speaker 2: a director, and a producer, having written and produced other
- 3:40Speaker 2: crime shows like Murder in a Small Town and Law
- 3:42Speaker 2: and Order Toronto Criminal Intent. Michelle Ritchie wrote episodes three
- 3:48Speaker 2: and four. She's written for quite a few mystery series,
- 3:50Speaker 2: both on Hallmark and elsewhere, with projects like Curious Caterer,
- 3:54Speaker 2: Frankie Drake Mysteries, murderch Mysteries, and Private Eyes. Heyo incarnated
- 4:00Speaker 2: Brandon Walsh yep joining the cast for episodes three and four.
- 4:04Speaker 2: We have Raven Dauda as Debbie Brannigan. Raven also voiced
- 4:07Speaker 2: a character in three episodes of the Mistletoe Murders podcast series,
- 4:11Speaker 2: among her one hundred and eight acting credits. Her credits
- 4:14Speaker 2: also include shows like Five Days of Memorial, Spellbound, and
- 4:18Speaker 2: Hudson and Rex. David Delancey Wilson plays. His name is
- 4:23Speaker 2: David Delancey Wilson and he plays Lance Indeed. Wow. David
- 4:28Speaker 2: was in twenty twenty threes, Catch Me If You Clause,
- 4:31Speaker 2: as well as Headson and Rex and Murdoch Mysteries. Additional
- 4:34Speaker 2: cast members in these episodes include Arlene duncan Zvia and
- 4:37Speaker 2: Jamie Spilchuk as Adam Jamison. We're going to take a
- 4:41Speaker 2: very quick way and come right back with our first
- 4:43Speaker 2: impressions of Peril.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Of the Bells.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Before we get into our first impressions, a reminder to
- 4:55Speaker 2: the listeners that we made the decision to combine our reviews,
- 4:59Speaker 2: so we did episodes one and two together, episodes three
- 5:02Speaker 2: and four, and then we will be doing episodes five
- 5:04Speaker 2: and six because that's how the stories are told. Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I feel like the listeners failed us. They should have
- 5:09Speaker 2: told us that before, right.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It remade our schedule. Yeah, no, it's fool. It's cool.
- 5:15Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I like that we're doing it this way. It makes
- 5:18Speaker 2: it makes it easier on our end. I agree, and
- 5:21Speaker 2: I like the show that the show is developed this way.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I think it makes a ton of sense. What is
- 5:27Speaker 2: your first impression of Peril of the Bells? My first
- 5:30Speaker 2: impression is, I don't know what's more dangerous, the dark
- 5:33Speaker 2: web or the choir room. My verse impression is is
- 5:38Speaker 2: this choir cursed or just caddy?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Ah? My goodness.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Real Housewives of Fletcher growth growth is that what it's
- 5:49Speaker 2: called their town, Fletcher's growth.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Is Indeed, these women don't have enough things to do
- 5:57Speaker 1: in their lives. It's pretty funny. Let's talk what we liked.
- 6:01Speaker 2: For me, the number one thing that I loved about
- 6:05Speaker 2: these two episodes was Sarah Drew's monologue at the end
- 6:09Speaker 2: of episode two, when she reveals to Sam about her
- 6:14Speaker 2: parents' death. It hits all the right emotional beats when
- 6:19Speaker 2: she says Christmas was the last happy time in my life.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It was just a gut punch in the best way possible.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And it's starting to tie together some of Emily's backstory,
- 6:31Speaker 2: which gives into understanding why.
- 6:37Speaker 1: She is who she is.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It was the perfectly placed emotional payoff at the end
- 6:42Speaker 2: of this two parts two parts episodes. I have an interesting,
- 6:47Speaker 2: potentially interesting take on that scene. I loved it too.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I thought it was incredibly well done by Sarah Drew.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I thought emotionally it hit. But the skeptic in me wondered,
- 6:56Speaker 2: is she telling the truth? Mmmmm, we don't actually know
- 7:00Speaker 2: her backstory. We did see glimpses of her looking at
- 7:02Speaker 2: the family photos. We know something is going on there.
- 7:06Speaker 2: She did mention those being happy memories when she pulled
- 7:09Speaker 2: them out of that briefcase, right, But I almost wondered,
- 7:14Speaker 2: either is she telling the truth or is she selectively
- 7:17Speaker 2: telling the truth here? That's a really interesting thought and
- 7:21Speaker 2: at one I had not considered, because why would she
- 7:26Speaker 2: give so much of herself up if she's so private
- 7:30Speaker 2: worried worried about exposing herself? Yeah, because we don't know
- 7:34Speaker 2: her past, and Sam is a uniquely positioned to access
- 7:40Speaker 2: that information should he choose to do so. And so
- 7:44Speaker 2: I almost wondered, if you know she was so closed
- 7:48Speaker 2: off and he's like, something's going on here, but clearly
- 7:50Speaker 2: you're not interested, and I almost I really want to
- 7:55Speaker 2: just take it at face value, but I was like,
- 7:58Speaker 2: she freaked out. She realized is she's gonna have to
- 8:00Speaker 2: give him something or he's going to be like googling
- 8:03Speaker 2: her in his oh police machine interesting, and then he's
- 8:08Speaker 2: gonna be like, this person does not actually exist prior
- 8:11Speaker 2: to twenty twenty four. So maybe if she gives him
- 8:15Speaker 2: this information, he feels like he doesn't need to do
- 8:17Speaker 2: that question for you. You didn't listen to the podcast. I
- 8:21Speaker 2: did not, okay, because I was like, do you know, No,
- 8:23Speaker 2: I don't know, I know something.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know anything.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I was actually considering once this is over listening to
- 8:30Speaker 2: the podcast, but because it's got a great cast, Colby.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Smolders is in it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I can't think of a single other name who's in
- 8:39Speaker 2: it off the top of my head. But I remember
- 8:41Speaker 2: thinking it had a good cast, so I may listen.
- 8:45Speaker 2: But no, I don't know anything. That was just the
- 8:46Speaker 2: impression I got. I was like, this is so lovely,
- 8:49Speaker 2: but wait, but wait, yeah, I my little like hair
- 8:55Speaker 2: stood up on my neck when she cut her hand
- 8:58Speaker 2: on the trunk. I was like, oh, no, her DNA
- 9:02Speaker 2: has been on there now, and what if that comes
- 9:05Speaker 2: back into play somehow of like whose DNA is it is? This?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Of course, then we see a play out that Vera
- 9:11Speaker 2: also cut her hand, and I was like, okay, well
- 9:13Speaker 2: maybe that's what they're doing there, but I was like,
- 9:16Speaker 2: what if that is the tell of who Emily actually is?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Look at you? Yeah, I don't know.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Watching too mini mysteries this summer A like that I
- 9:28Speaker 2: had on a much lighter note. Last episode, I got
- 9:32Speaker 2: my wish. I was asking for more Brooke and I
- 9:34Speaker 2: predicted that she was going to be involved in an
- 9:37Speaker 2: upcoming crime.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And I was correct.
- 9:40Speaker 2: There she delivered in exactly the way I wanted her too.
- 9:43Speaker 2: This is exactly the person I wanted Brooke to be
- 9:46Speaker 2: in this series. She has lines like two glasses of rose,
- 9:50Speaker 2: the screw it's off, or.
- 9:53Speaker 1: What the hell, let's go Cork.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I also love when she finally gets that solow moment
- 10:01Speaker 2: when Vera is taken away. She she like celebrates a
- 10:05Speaker 2: little bit. She's like, that isn't how I want it.
- 10:07Speaker 1: To get it.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I love it, Like she's just she's great. I thought
- 10:11Speaker 2: she was really fun. I was glad we got more
- 10:14Speaker 2: of her. I was suspicious of Brooke at first, and
- 10:18Speaker 2: at the top of the third episode, I was like,
- 10:22Speaker 2: is she are a bad guy? Is she our a culprit?
- 10:24Speaker 2: But then I was like, no, she wouldn't be standing
- 10:26Speaker 2: underneath this potential, you know, display that's going to fall
- 10:31Speaker 2: on them, Like if she knew what was going to fall,
- 10:32Speaker 2: she wouldn't be standing there, So she can't be our culprit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 2: I'm glad that she's not a bad guy, and I
- 10:40Speaker 2: hope she doesn't end up being a bad guy. I
- 10:43Speaker 2: just like her being this kind of vapid townsperson exactly
- 10:49Speaker 2: with some comic relief. Yeah, I'm into Brook.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I like Brook.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Something else I really liked I want to talk about
- 10:55Speaker 2: We talked about it a little bit, but Sam and
- 10:57Speaker 2: Emily's chemistry is finally, you know, we watched these shows,
- 11:04Speaker 2: we know that there's going to be a love interest.
- 11:07Speaker 2: When we watched Mistery one on one, it took them
- 11:12Speaker 2: forever to get there, right, We were like, when is
- 11:15Speaker 2: it gonna happen? When's it gonna happen with.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Sam and Emily?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Like I feel like they're in episodes one and two,
- 11:23Speaker 2: like they obviously have some chemistry I think we see
- 11:26Speaker 2: that a lot more in episodes three and four, So
- 11:31Speaker 2: it's not like will they won't they, It's but it's
- 11:34Speaker 2: building at a natural progression that I'm enjoying as a viewer.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I like that their flirtatious way isn't forced by any.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Means it it.
- 11:49Speaker 2: As I'm watching it, I was like, Oh, these are
- 11:51Speaker 2: two people who are vibing, for a lack of better words,
- 11:55Speaker 2: like they're into each other totally. And when they have
- 11:59Speaker 2: like that almost kiss at the end and they're just
- 12:02Speaker 2: like face to face, their bodies are pressed up against
- 12:04Speaker 2: each other, I'm.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Super into it. Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 2: The episode three oh, early on they have this real cute,
- 12:12Speaker 2: like flirty banter. They're talking about hockey and the bells
- 12:15Speaker 2: and they're just like they're leaning into each other and
- 12:17Speaker 2: their vibe is so fun, and then we end on
- 12:20Speaker 2: that sweet or more romantic vibe. I love the progression. Like,
- 12:24Speaker 2: and they only have six episodes, so I am assuming
- 12:28Speaker 2: we're not going to get everything all tied up in
- 12:30Speaker 2: a neat little Sam and Emily bow at the end
- 12:31Speaker 2: of episodes five and six, But I do like that
- 12:35Speaker 2: they're giving us enough to get into. Yeah, when they
- 12:40Speaker 2: have that conversation when he makes that joke about spiding
- 12:43Speaker 2: her parents, like he's like, they must have loved Halloween
- 12:46Speaker 2: and this is why you leaned into Christmas or whatever.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I thought was so funny. Yeah, such a great line.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Great writing there, very good, very very good. So some
- 12:59Speaker 2: parts of this episode are like real campy and silly, like.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, yes, the sleigh, Like when.
- 13:05Speaker 2: The sleigh straight up like crushes Debby and she just
- 13:07Speaker 2: watches it happening. I actually thought it was fun.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I didn't. I wasn't bothered by it. But they also
- 13:13Speaker 1: the closing.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Scene with the message to Emily with her cryptic chimerasarch happening.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I don't fully know what's going on there, but they
- 13:22Speaker 2: nailed the creepy and I like the balance there, like
- 13:26Speaker 2: we're still hallmarkified, but.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm buying it.
- 13:31Speaker 2: That's so funny you said the word hallmarkified because it
- 13:34Speaker 2: isn't my wishes. Uh oh, I'm going to talk about
- 13:37Speaker 2: it there all right.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I absolutely agree with you. Was that alike though?
- 13:45Speaker 2: For you, like you are okay with the hallmarkified of
- 13:47Speaker 2: the more sinister storylines.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I like the balance because.
- 13:56Speaker 2: You know, I don't like scary. Yeah, So for me,
- 13:58Speaker 2: it's like just scary enough to be interesting. I have
- 14:03Speaker 2: some thoughts on the actual crime happening here in my wishes,
- 14:08Speaker 2: don't you worry, But the sleigh falling from the roof
- 14:13Speaker 2: was funny enough for me to be into it. Okay, No,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I agree with you. I mean, just it just so
- 14:20Speaker 2: happens to get Debbie in the perfect it doesn't actually
- 14:24Speaker 2: hurt her.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yes, how is that possible? How? Yes? Anymore?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Likes just one small one. I enjoy watching Emily go
- 14:40Speaker 2: like full spy mode. I like watching It's exciting for
- 14:47Speaker 2: me to see like this double life kind of unfold
- 14:50Speaker 2: that and we're just getting like pieces of it. I
- 14:54Speaker 2: said it in last episode two, Like, I think that's
- 14:56Speaker 2: the most thrilling part of the series, learning who Emily is. Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 2: I don't think we got as much of it in
- 15:04Speaker 2: episodes three and four as we did in one and two,
- 15:07Speaker 2: but it's it's enough to keep me interested going forward.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. One thing I think this show is
- 15:14Speaker 1: doing well. We have dual.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Storylines happening here. Even more than that, Like we have
- 15:21Speaker 2: whatever the mystery of the double episode happens to be,
- 15:26Speaker 2: but we also have their everyday lives running in the background,
- 15:29Speaker 2: and so that's Sam and Emily and the mystery of
- 15:32Speaker 2: Emily's past, And we also have what I think is
- 15:34Speaker 2: really nice Violet and Emily's relationship. Violet has a mom,
- 15:40Speaker 2: she's just not on screen, and Emily is kind of
- 15:43Speaker 2: serving that maternal figure, particularly when she says to her,
- 15:48Speaker 2: you're allowed to make mistakes when she's lost the key,
- 15:52Speaker 2: and she she turns it into a you know, just
- 15:55Speaker 2: let me know, let me know next time, but don't
- 16:00Speaker 2: promises you can keep like I'll never let it have
- 16:02Speaker 2: it again.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You are a human.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I really enjoy their seeing where their relationship is going. Yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 2: don't you go I wish I could have a mom
- 16:11Speaker 2: response like that, yes, where you'd be like freaking out instead. Yeah.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But I also think that Emily is positioned to be
- 16:19Speaker 2: able to have a response like that because she's not
- 16:22Speaker 2: Violet's mother, of course, so right, like, don't you think
- 16:26Speaker 2: you could give grace to someone who's more grace This
- 16:29Speaker 2: is terrible to say out loud, more grace to someone
- 16:31Speaker 2: who's not your child than someone who is. Sometimes yes,
- 16:35Speaker 2: because there's less at stake, Right, So I think Emily's
- 16:38Speaker 2: in a position to be able to do that better
- 16:41Speaker 2: than Violet's.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Mother would be. I agree, I agree, let's talk wishes. Okay?
- 16:46Speaker 2: For me, speaking of Violet and the lost key, this
- 16:52Speaker 2: is a subplot that didn't really go anywhere for me.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna talk in a minute about Emily approaching that
- 17:00Speaker 2: teenager or hiding in his car in a minute. I'm
- 17:05Speaker 2: going to get there in a minute. But what is
- 17:08Speaker 2: the point here? This is like a thread that has
- 17:11Speaker 2: no payoff other than to show us that Emily has
- 17:15Speaker 2: a dark past. But I thought it would lead to
- 17:19Speaker 2: something more. Yeah, that's a really good point. It doesn't
- 17:23Speaker 2: serve any other purpose other than to maybe move Emily
- 17:26Speaker 2: in Violet's relationship forward.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I think I think they.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I think Emily asks too much of Violet, like she
- 17:36Speaker 2: leaves her alone in that store a lot. I wasn't
- 17:39Speaker 2: wondering that too. And they even said at one point,
- 17:42Speaker 2: Byley goes, what happened to a couple errands? You've been
- 17:45Speaker 2: gone for three hours? Yeah, you have a teenager running
- 17:47Speaker 2: this store like all by yourself. Seems a lot to ask.
- 17:51Speaker 1: It does seem now.
- 17:52Speaker 2: When I was in high school, I did work in
- 17:54Speaker 2: a clothing store and I did close that store by
- 17:56Speaker 2: myself shut down the register clean.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Blows my mind that I was tasked with such a job.
- 18:04Speaker 2: But even watching it, I think girl needs a break,
- 18:09Speaker 2: Like what if she need to go to the bathroom?
- 18:11Speaker 1: What is she I think we're putting too much on her.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Nobody's actually going like she needs her fifteen minutes break here.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I mean, what was she supposed to do?
- 18:19Speaker 2: She's got a page's like hold it until Emily comes back.
- 18:23Speaker 2: She can't leave the store unsupervised. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My
- 18:28Speaker 2: next wish is and I feel like you might have
- 18:32Speaker 2: some hot takes on this. It's back to the hallmarkifying
- 18:35Speaker 2: of things. So when Emily is hiding in this kid's car,
- 18:45Speaker 2: which is actually a terrifying like thought to be like
- 18:48Speaker 2: if somebody is hiding in the back of your car,
- 18:50Speaker 2: like so I kind of liked that, but it was
- 18:55Speaker 2: way too campy with her doing this like menacing voice
- 18:59Speaker 2: to this kid to scare him. I was like, what
- 19:01Speaker 2: is happening here? This has gone too far? Like I couldn't.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I couldn't. It wasn't believable to me. I thought it was.
- 19:09Speaker 2: It was equal parts silly and over the top and
- 19:14Speaker 2: also way more than was warranted, like Okay, the kid
- 19:19Speaker 2: broken at the store, I get it, but this vigilante justice,
- 19:23Speaker 2: like I'm gonna scare him straight, thing I thought was
- 19:25Speaker 2: maybe a little bit over the line, like he is
- 19:27Speaker 2: still a child and granted a child who had committed
- 19:30Speaker 2: a crime.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I get it, But I was like, well, maybe pump
- 19:34Speaker 1: the brakes a little bit here, Emily. Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I I literally like laughed out loud and said what
- 19:42Speaker 2: is happening when I was watching.
- 19:44Speaker 1: It, Hey, you may have never don anything with that
- 19:47Speaker 1: again or all.
- 19:48Speaker 2: No. Yeah, it was too too cartoonish for me when
- 19:56Speaker 2: in the previous episodes in one and two, I thought
- 19:59Speaker 2: Emily came off as this like real batty vigilante who
- 20:05Speaker 2: you don't want to mess with, And this just felt like,
- 20:09Speaker 2: h this felt like somebody's mom trying to scare some kid.
- 20:13Speaker 2: You know. I think the voice is what ruined that
- 20:15Speaker 2: scene for me, because the hiding in the backseat scary,
- 20:18Speaker 2: the way we don't see her coming scary, the fact
- 20:20Speaker 2: that she like gets them around the neck scary. It's
- 20:23Speaker 2: just the voice that like pushes it into the hoky side. Yes, yes, yes,
- 20:28Speaker 2: yes do you think she was like, oh man, how
- 20:30Speaker 2: am I gonna pull this off, like when she's doing
- 20:32Speaker 2: this scene.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish they had there was a way to
- 20:36Speaker 1: give her one of those like voice changers. Yeah, why
- 20:39Speaker 1: didn't they do that?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well, I don't know how you do that live like
- 20:42Speaker 2: you they're still gonna hear your voice.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, true, true, true, true true. Tell me what you
- 20:46Speaker 1: wish for. I would like a.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Clear timeline on what's happening here. It does seem like
- 20:51Speaker 2: we're days away from Christmas, but also potentially weeks. Like
- 20:54Speaker 2: I know we're in the holiday season because in the
- 20:56Speaker 2: last episode they had Christmas karaoke, and they had the
- 21:01Speaker 2: the hot cocoa situation.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And now we've got the Christmas tree lighting. We have
- 21:05Speaker 1: all of this, but I.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Don't have any idea when we are, like maybe it
- 21:10Speaker 2: just seems like a lot of time passes in these episodes,
- 21:12Speaker 2: but also not much time passes.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I know. I was like, are we like six weeks
- 21:18Speaker 1: out from Christmas? What's happening?
- 21:19Speaker 2: But even then, it just seems like that whole last episode,
- 21:23Speaker 2: you know, June was in prison, they had to you know,
- 21:26Speaker 2: I the time was a little wonky for me.
- 21:31Speaker 1: My big wish. However, Era had.
- 21:33Speaker 2: No choice but to murder two people because the choir
- 21:36Speaker 2: group might lose. Yeah, we haven't even talked about the
- 21:40Speaker 2: whole choir situation.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Thank you for bringing it up. Yeah, that was kind
- 21:44Speaker 1: of a weird motivation.
- 21:47Speaker 2: It's similar to Mistery one oh one, where the guy
- 21:52Speaker 2: kills because he doesn't want his girl to be hired
- 21:55Speaker 2: for the job, yes, job or whatever. It's like, attle
- 21:59Speaker 2: it believable. You're so invested in your choir that you
- 22:03Speaker 2: had to kill someone who might go to another choir
- 22:05Speaker 2: and make them better. The believability has been stretched to
- 22:10Speaker 2: its very limits here.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I mean it is if you.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Roll it back to like, is this the ultimate Hallmark crime?
- 22:21Speaker 2: My holiday choir might lose, so therefore I have to
- 22:24Speaker 2: murder the person who's going to be responsible for that. Okay,
- 22:28Speaker 2: but I think I think we're pushing it here. Do
- 22:30Speaker 2: you have any more wishes? No?
- 22:32Speaker 1: That's it all right, let's talk. Did you see that? Okay?
- 22:36Speaker 2: I don't have like any true did you see that?
- 22:38Speaker 1: I have.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Two thoughts on things and then one actually like did
- 22:43Speaker 2: you see that? But it's not like a continuity issue,
- 22:46Speaker 2: So are you ready for it? I am Emily wears
- 22:49Speaker 2: the brand Mother Jeans, and those jeans are two hundred dollars.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Okay, I'm like, nice catch. How did you saw the label?
- 22:58Speaker 2: It has an M on the pocket and I just
- 23:01Speaker 2: those have been on my radar for some time and
- 23:04Speaker 2: I just can't link two hundred dollars for a pair
- 23:06Speaker 2: of jeans is.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Bonkers to me. But I'm like, Wardrobe must have had
- 23:11Speaker 1: some money here.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I mean, maybe she's wearing them, and like I noticed
- 23:16Speaker 2: them in episodes one and two as well, but she
- 23:18Speaker 2: could obviously they might be repurposing them in for the show,
- 23:23Speaker 2: Like maybe they just have one pair of premium denim.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Jeans for our actress to wear.
- 23:28Speaker 2: But yeah, anyway, I noticed that, all right. The other thing,
- 23:34Speaker 2: here's a question. So Emily has this store, right, and
- 23:39Speaker 2: in the montages we see a lot of her selling
- 23:42Speaker 2: things like snow globes and ornaments and stuff like that,
- 23:46Speaker 2: And I was like, who is going to a specialty
- 23:49Speaker 2: Christmas shop to buy Christmas decor type items? Like I
- 23:56Speaker 2: kind of thought this might be a regular like retail space.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And then they wrap the gifts for Christmas giving.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Do you know where I'm getting to?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah, So I'm gonna push back on that because we
- 24:11Speaker 2: live in Orange county land of the chain store. We
- 24:13Speaker 2: do not have cute, little small town Christmas shops just
- 24:16Speaker 2: in our cruising radius. Yeah, so we wouldn't shop there
- 24:21Speaker 2: because they don't exist. But there are places like at
- 24:27Speaker 2: by my mother in law's house or as a place
- 24:28Speaker 2: that's like it's not just Christmas. They sell whatever the
- 24:31Speaker 2: holiday happens to be, but it's like a full store
- 24:34Speaker 2: of like ornaments and decors and that's all they sell,
- 24:38Speaker 2: and it's a little more unique than your big box store.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So I think people in a small town where there's
- 24:46Speaker 2: not a Target and a home Goods and whatever wherever
- 24:50Speaker 2: else people are shopping for these things on every corner
- 24:52Speaker 2: probably would shop in a place like this. I don't
- 24:54Speaker 2: think it's sustainable twelve months of the year. When she
- 24:57Speaker 2: says too, Violet's friend, I'll let you know if we're
- 25:00Speaker 2: hiring during this summer busy season. Yeah, I was like,
- 25:03Speaker 2: what what busy season?
- 25:05Speaker 1: That's weird.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I don't know that it's sustainable year round, but I
- 25:08Speaker 2: do think people are like looking for like unique holiday finds.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it might just be a me thing.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I just wouldn't go to a specialty store and buy
- 25:17Speaker 2: a snow globe for somebody. First of all, I would
- 25:19Speaker 2: never gift anybody a snow globe either, which is a
- 25:23Speaker 2: me thing, and then ask them to wrap it. I
- 25:25Speaker 2: don't know, it just seems weird. I like, I'll go
- 25:28Speaker 2: to a Christmas shop and like poke around and like
- 25:31Speaker 2: because I like browsing at things.
- 25:33Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't know.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I don't know why I'm so hung up on it.
- 25:37Speaker 2: If I'm gonna buy somebody a gift, it's not going
- 25:39Speaker 2: to be holiday decor though.
- 25:42Speaker 1: No.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Well, I think a lot of people gift ornaments during
- 25:45Speaker 2: the holidays. Yeah, a lot of people like hostess gifts or.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yeah, my last did you see?
- 25:53Speaker 2: That? Is our character Debbie. She leans and real hard
- 26:01Speaker 2: to her singing right now And you probably haven't seen it,
- 26:07Speaker 2: but there is a TikTok of these girls and they
- 26:12Speaker 2: are on stage and they're clearly like sisters. And there's
- 26:15Speaker 2: two younger ones who are getting ready to sing and
- 26:16Speaker 2: they're going to sing a Cranberry song and the older
- 26:19Speaker 2: one is like just being so extra and it completely
- 26:24Speaker 2: reminded me of Debbie. I'm going to share it with you.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I may share it in our Facebook group too, just
- 26:29Speaker 2: to be like this gives the off Debbie vibes because
- 26:33Speaker 2: Debbie was interesting to watch.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yes, it just it just made me laugh, that's all.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I totally agree like her choices, which
- 26:43Speaker 2: is how my theater daughter would say. The choices that
- 26:47Speaker 2: she made were very interesting, and I think, you know,
- 26:50Speaker 2: I think the whole point is to highlight like her
- 26:53Speaker 2: role as a soloist wasn't earned, it was uh huh
- 26:57Speaker 2: stolen because of her financial support. And she's obviously not
- 27:03Speaker 2: the most talented person there. So I mean, even Sarah
- 27:06Speaker 2: Drew's singing was better than Debbie's.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Kind of surprised by Sarah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Drewcey, Yeah, I loved it. Yeah, I don't have, like
- 27:16Speaker 2: you said, true digitsu.
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's I just.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Wanted to point out that, you know, Emily tries to
- 27:22Speaker 2: connect with Adam to get more information about him, and
- 27:24Speaker 2: she's like, hey, I have some junk I need hauled
- 27:26Speaker 2: the way, and when he kind of calls her bluff,
- 27:29Speaker 2: he's like, oh, I'll be in the area, I'll come
- 27:31Speaker 2: pick it up.
- 27:31Speaker 1: She gives him a box. A box.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you couldn't have taken that out to the
- 27:39Speaker 2: trash yourself. You needed a junk caller to take that away. Yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 2: I need a junk collar. Got me too, get all
- 27:46Speaker 2: the junk at my house? Yeah, Like I mean, speaking
- 27:48Speaker 2: of tiktoks, you see those videos that are like, this
- 27:50Speaker 2: is a gen x or's dream and it's a dumpster
- 27:53Speaker 2: pulling up to the curve. It's empty, one hundred percent
- 27:58Speaker 2: my dream. I love doing that at least once a year.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Time to urge.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yeah, what did you rate this episode of missletone Murders?
- 28:10Speaker 2: I gave this episode four and a half stars. Last
- 28:13Speaker 2: episode this week four point seventy five. Okay, this one
- 28:17Speaker 2: ticks down just a little bit because they got a
- 28:19Speaker 2: little hokey. Yeah, so I gave last episode five stars.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I'm giving this one four point to two five stars.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Oh it really fell for you. Now, let's be clear.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I don't find four point two five stars to be
- 28:32Speaker 2: a bad rating, and nobody else should either. We just
- 28:37Speaker 2: this is a classic middle of the trilogy episode, moving
- 28:42Speaker 2: things along, but it's not there's no fireworks. Yeah, that's
- 28:45Speaker 2: why I want to listen to the podcast because I'm like,
- 28:49Speaker 2: is there any difference here?
- 28:52Speaker 1: What does the story? Did home?
- 28:55Speaker 2: Did Hallmark get their hands on making it a little
- 28:59Speaker 2: more mystery? Yeah, with the exception of when she opens
- 29:03Speaker 2: the trunk and Adam is dead in the trunk.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I was like, oh, which is like, I'm at Adam's
- 29:09Speaker 1: house and so is he. You were like what nice? Nice? Yep, hey,
- 29:14Speaker 1: thanks for listening to this.
