- 1:12DJ Ben, I Mean aka Optimist Brin a k a. The Megadon a
- 1:19k A. Humblebee here in the spaceship tonight, and I'm joined by my
- 1:26illustrious Crows. Tatiana King d Grand Duchess a tech also known as flex Luthor,
- 1:32Gloria Glorilla Glrod Optimists, Fine, the Liberal Mermaid four Sports is seven
- 1:38years ago, Lord of Lightsabers and Tatiana King the Conqueror. Okay, so
- 1:44you just threw in that one Transformers reference where all beinging on me with the
- 1:48rest of the A listen. I only had that one, and I was
- 1:51like, let me just do some solid ones that I already had. So
- 1:53okay, I feel that I understand. But as you heard by my aka's
- 2:00and a few of TA town as, we are here to talk about Transfomas
- 2:06rise. That's right, Benham. We were at the New York premier in
- 2:12Brooklyn at King's Theater. We was in there official on the red carpet too.
- 2:17You've seen your girl on the red carpet, DJ ben HAMI was getting
- 2:22picks and videos with everybody, the entire cast, including special guests that showed
- 2:28out like Ryan Googler. I saw that, yes, and we were both
- 2:31looking fresh to death. You know, we hadn't put it on for y'all,
- 2:36and I'm saying, put that drip, you know, just just this
- 2:38dude, what we do when we can do it. As I said,
- 2:42so had a great time. It was a good experience. Um. I
- 2:45know I got some free popcorn and drinks and stuff about you. I did
- 2:49not. I've actually been bastable on my liquor consumption. I saw the table
- 2:53well I'm talking about non alcoholic drinks. It was like soda and water.
- 2:57Yeah, I saw that too, but I missed. You know, there's
- 2:59a lot of it was a lot going on. Let me all right,
- 3:01let me tell you it was a lot. The Keens Theater, first of
- 3:05all, is amazing, beautiful, amazing, but also massive, massive,
- 3:10And it was as you've seen from my picks, and that was just half
- 3:15of the people in there. There was all kinds of people that I wish
- 3:17I got to take some pictures with it. I didn't wish I got to
- 3:20talk to. I mean, and I was talking to everybody named Mama,
- 3:23and people was mad, chill. It was a great vibe in there.
- 3:25All people were in the same theater with us watching the flick. So it
- 3:30was a really great night. You know, you saw me in town looking
- 3:32up in there shop you know, office attack. Yeah, I gotta say
- 3:37that. Somebody said that I looked casket clean, and I'm like, black
- 3:39people, we have to work. We gotta stop saying that we gotta I
- 3:43deleted that comment. I can't remember who you were because I've beat it so
- 3:46fast, bro, because it's like, we gotta work on these things.
- 3:47We gotta stop saying that we got I understand, but I don't ever want
- 3:53to hear that again in my life. I don't ever want to be referred
- 3:55to that sharp. None of that. Yeah, can I alive? Sharp?
- 4:00Like yeah, I don't want to be fresh to death, fam,
- 4:03you know what I mean? None of that? Okay, But what we
- 4:09are on is this Transformance Rise to the Beast, And like I said,
- 4:13the experience was amazing. Um, this movie comes out this week. I
- 4:17don't really think that there are much to spoil that is not out there.
- 4:23I just googled the ending of the film and it's not even like on Reddit
- 4:28or anything. It's like widely available the bid at the end, and that
- 4:31was May twenty eighth by the time you hear this. So this is pretty
- 4:35much to be a spoiler review because they just ain't much. I mean,
- 4:40it's a Transformance movie, dog, this is it's like the eighth one of
- 4:43these and that's what I want to say. So, like it's a Transformers
- 4:47movie, and this is from this is a child of Michael Bay, right
- 4:53of the Rain, child of when when he came out with the first but
- 4:56the first two or the first three, like where he was actually directed with
- 5:00then he switched over to being an executive producer, like this is from that
- 5:03lineage, and it has not strayed that far from that lineage, right,
- 5:06has it gotten a little better? Yeah, I guess it's because Michael Bay
- 5:11is a very competent director for what he does. Okay, yeah, you
- 5:15never like The Rock, the movie The Rock? Yeah? With said The
- 5:23Rock, I think John Johnson, Sean Connery and Nick Cage that. Yeah,
- 5:33that's a good one. That's that's a solid like his early solid.
- 5:36That's cool. His shit is cool. That's not the problem. It's just
- 5:41it's a Transformers movie. And when I say that, I mean it's not
- 5:46much to think on or dwell on or really consider. That's a great word.
- 5:58That's not too much ton sire. Like it's a movie based off of
- 6:02the beloved and I'm and I've always like I grew up with First of all,
- 6:06I grew up with beast Wars, right, so nesess the stage my
- 6:10Transformers started with beast Wars. So when you know this shit popped up Rise
- 6:16of the Beast. I got excited. You know, when I seen Optimist
- 6:18Prime on all stuff, I said, oh my god, that's my childhood.
- 6:21Oh my god, I've seen it. I've seen I'm ready. So
- 6:24that got me hype. But I also understood, Hey, but this is
- 6:27still at the end of the day, even though he's not directed, it
- 6:29doesn't matter. This is still the Michael Bay's child of Transformer movies, understand.
- 6:33So it has that approach where it's kind of kind of cheesy, kind
- 6:38of cheesy, questionable dialogue, questionable writing and decision making, but it's just
- 6:45like you're not thinking about any of that. You're just like, I want
- 6:46to see giant robots fight each other. Yes, and Optimist Prime speak like
- 6:53you know Storm's cousin or something, right, like, because because I'm as
- 6:56Prime, he's very it's very extra. He's very and I'm talking about Storm
- 7:01ridiculously violent. He is on the load too, but he always gets He's
- 7:04always been like like he was snap. And that's why I don't like like
- 7:12if people say, like I fused with Optimists because my thing is, then
- 7:15Nigga will lose it and go in on somebody or something if he needs to
- 7:20and before anyone says that's not Optims Prime, like, let me set the
- 7:25stage here. I'm an original you know Transformers head like from day one when
- 7:29they debuted, and then Transformers the movie, the original animated g One Joint
- 7:34is some of like that's that one when you know, we asked the question
- 7:38what death hurts you the murder most. It's not even Optimist Primes death in
- 7:42that film, it's everyone else who gets bodied as on the way, because
- 7:46the original animated film is very violent, mad characters. They're murder and Optimists
- 7:50himself goes on a wild killing spree at one point. And again I may
- 7:55have come like a generation later, but like they were still wild Violet yea
- 7:59from that onwards. So they stayed with that. After the movie, they
- 8:03were like, Okay, we can murder the problems. Like Optimist is always
- 8:05about finding the good, finding the good, and like you can you can,
- 8:09you can talk about that. But I think at the end of the
- 8:11day, he bought that life and he got held Optimists. Even when the
- 8:16Optimist is down, he's always gonna come back up, like he always back
- 8:20up back out on the streets. You know, tell the word, we
- 8:24back up all that. Yeah, so so I'm just so just to give
- 8:28you just some something that framing like, it's it's it's I'm not going to
- 8:33grade a transform formerst movie at the same level that I would or even give
- 8:39it that same type of I guess interrogation as I would give maybe a Chris
- 8:45Nolan movie, right like, I'm gonna do that because I don't because it's
- 8:50never been built that way in my view, I'm trying to think of the
- 8:54most opposite movie Transformers. That's pretty much it. You've pretty nailed it on
- 8:58the head. And I would have to say inception is the opposite of a
- 9:03like, come on, bro, I had the most complicated opposite day movie
- 9:07from the Transforms, and I thought of immediately, yeah, I didn't even
- 9:11really like what he called. And I've watched a bunch of times. Don't
- 9:13at me, Yeah, don't at me. I get it. I just
- 9:16don't care get it. And I was just like, oh, yeah,
- 9:20I don't care. Yeah, oh that's cool. But anyway, continue.
- 9:24But I also feel like that is one thing that is kind of disappointing,
- 9:28Like, Okay, I really enjoyed Bumblebee. I only saw it one time,
- 9:33but I felt like it even had a little bit more than this one
- 9:35does, like okay, yeah, just in terms of like, yeah,
- 9:39I don't know if it was Haiti star Starnfeld Steenfeld that carried it, but
- 9:43you know, she's so great that she might have just made it a little
- 9:46bit better than it was in the first place. But I really liked that
- 9:50one, you know, that was like where I was like, wow,
- 9:52surprised, you know, like this is a dope movie. Ye, like
- 9:56this and that's what it is. I finally found the word for it.
- 10:00I've never seen transformers, transformers films as complex movies. Yes, something,
- 10:05you really, but we're more complex than than than this and the majority of
- 10:11them, so I don't So I'm not gonna be like, oh, this
- 10:15is a you know, just a cinema like absolutely, not like it's a
- 10:18movie. It's absolutely a movie. It's a do you want to sit there,
- 10:22eat your popcorn, watch them cool shit happened? Yes, But could
- 10:26it be? It's the question. It could be, but if it require
- 10:28a different form of writing, it require a completely different approach. That being
- 10:31said, I do want to give praise to the director of Rise of the
- 10:37b Stephen Capel Junior. There you go. A black man did not realize
- 10:41that I did not realize going in, and that was a black guy that
- 10:43they have not promoted this enough, directed this movie, you know, straight
- 10:46up, like you got a black man promoting, I mean directing your movie.
- 10:50You should promote the movie. You really should. And you know,
- 10:52um, I think he did a great job. And again it's still the
- 10:56framework of what I know of the Transformers movies, the modern day transformist movies,
- 11:01Like it's still within that framework. So yeah, but it looked good
- 11:05too, Like you were saying, like this is how I judge the Transformance
- 11:09movies, Like you say, I don't judge them like a Nolan film.
- 11:11I judge them like a fast and furious film, Like I know it's going
- 11:16to be a summertime movie that fr come out not damn there every summer life
- 11:20fast and furious, but with regularity, and there's gonna be ups and downs,
- 11:26but overall, if I'm looking to see say Optimists at some point turn
- 11:31into a psychopath and kill a bunch of other robots in great, you know,
- 11:35glorious ways, I can judge them on that. And it's like,
- 11:37Okay, how did the Optimist serve fools this time, you know, And
- 11:41then it's like, what were the moments that I remember? Like in this
- 11:45one, it was definitely RC and the I'm not sure if my man's name
- 11:52ball his life was in the up, but it's RC. In another Robot
- 11:58Ye Down. You've seen some of them in the trailers. In the Racing
- 12:03down the road, rockets are flying at them and there's a quick ill shot
- 12:07where the rocket flies through and the van's doors open, and you know,
- 12:11shit like that. It's like, okay, I'm here for this. You
- 12:15know that whole sequence was fired. You know, from beginning to end.
- 12:18That was a fantastic action sequence. And it's like the same thing with Fast
- 12:22Interferior. It's like, I remember, you know, Dwayne the Rod Johnson
- 12:24grabbing the torpedo with his hands in that one. I can even name nine.
- 12:28Eight, that's eight And you were referring to Crystal Fernandez, Crystal Fernandez
- 12:33will Jack. Yes, my man, Crystal Fernandez got to take a picture
- 12:37with him and tell him how much Ted Lasso means to me. So that
- 12:41was great. And this is another thing about the Transformers. It's one of
- 12:43them uh franchises, like the Godzilla franchises where you'll see people who it's like
- 12:48a time capsule of what's popping dot Net at any different time, Like so
- 12:56Fernandez, it's in this joint because it's soon Met Toby, my boy is
- 13:01up in this because list right now. I call movies like this mortgage movies,
- 13:09right, And I think I got that from Kimson Stop Out to Kimson,
- 13:11Albert the God, the Ambition God, um mortgage movies like, yes,
- 13:16they're not there to be. Let's sit there and think about the complex
- 13:20leaders and the depth of it. It's like, I need a bag,
- 13:22and this is gonna make some money. So here we are. I want
- 13:26to say, Alfred, What's what's the Alfred m in the Michael Caine right,
- 13:31Michael Caine. I want to say it's attributed to Michael Caine. It's
- 13:33a famous proe where someone asked him about some movie that he was in and
- 13:37he was like, my dear boy, I've never seen that film, but
- 13:39I've seen the House paid For Okay, I ain't never seen that, Drake,
- 13:48but I know the house I live in because of it, you know.
- 13:52So I can't tell you a line from that film. My boat came
- 13:56from that movie I stand like and I like just be on right honest.
- 14:01So so like again just setting the stage that being said, you already mentioned
- 14:05a few people who were in this film. Um, overall, what was
- 14:09your take? Did you like this film? Did you think it was great?
- 14:11Did you think it was I? Like, personally I thought it was
- 14:16I. I thought it was I you know, I can't lie, Like,
- 14:18Okay, this is the other problem right now, ye about to say
- 14:24it. The suthing we were on it like the summer has been hot,
- 14:28like these streets have been hot unexpectedly again, unexpectedly because normally I can't lie.
- 14:33It's what beginning of June normally, by now I'm already like, fuck,
- 14:39you know what I mean, the summer weak as hell. Yeah,
- 14:41something come out. Yeah. They front load the summer always, and it'll
- 14:45be like the sneakers that come in in the middle of summer where you're like,
- 14:48oh, I didn't expect that to be that dope. But it's like
- 14:50the front loadeds are always the big dogs. You know. It's like,
- 14:52this is the one we gotta have hit and then we want to get that
- 14:56rest of that money for the whole summer if we can, and did us
- 14:58some mess, you know, I can't leave. Most of those are usually
- 15:01like where I'm like, it's like, but it will be like the Marvel
- 15:05Room where I'm like hype for it didn't by the time you see it,
- 15:07like all that was I you know, it wasn't nuhing like that. But
- 15:11this summer it was like, well a man was like the early summer and
- 15:15you were like, god, damn, oh, oh, let's to watch.
- 15:18You know, it could be tight, and then Guardians came out.
- 15:22You're like, whoa, that was solid, you know, Spider Verse.
- 15:24I mean, y'all have heard our view like it. You know, I've
- 15:26seen it twice. I'm feeding to see it a third time. You know
- 15:30what more can I say? Um the Flash which by now you might have
- 15:35heard our view as well, and you know, pretty damn good, you
- 15:39know for a Flash movie, you know, especially for a DC movie,
- 15:41Very solid, very entertaining. You know, I would not take that away
- 15:46from that movie. It is an entertaining summer movie. And so it's been
- 15:50like some bangers and Transformance comes out and it's like, Okay, cool girl,
- 15:58this is fine. Yeah, Like I'm not gonna like and it's like
- 16:03I also want to be very quick. I'm not gonna say it like y'all
- 16:06was boring. It was, but it's also like this is also listen,
- 16:11we critically review these works, right, so we we are often teking you
- 16:18to the depths and the different levels and the themes and everything that goes into
- 16:21it. When it's something where we admittedly see that there is none of that,
- 16:25or there's maybe it's maybe lightweight on that tip. You know, we
- 16:27we gotta be fair. I'm also honest about it, right, So,
- 16:33like it was I like, I don't know, I'm trying to think like
- 16:37was there and maybe Fast and Furious is it? Were there as simple and
- 16:40not the latest, but like in general, were there like more simple movies
- 16:44where it was like there's not too much to it, but it was the
- 16:47latest nothing? Right? Yeah? Yeah? And then and it's the Ben's
- 16:52point, like we this is coming to us coming off of seeing like Spider
- 16:56Verse, Like we just freaking saw a Spider Verse and the monster that that
- 17:02was, and then it's like, okay, yeah, like this is uh,
- 17:04you know, off the subject kind of but also related Like the other
- 17:08day on I watched Shazam two and we did the review, and I'm basically
- 17:14questioning you about it because I had not seen it. Yeah, woff,
- 17:17I would have. I would have given that when you know a D minus
- 17:19that bad. It wasn't. Oh my god, dog, I struggled him.
- 17:29It took me like four hours because I kept walking away to do other
- 17:30thing. Yeah. Yeah, I just felt I just felt transformer rice to
- 17:36becase. I thought it was. I. Uh, my thing is if
- 17:38everyone and again that we were in the king stater so it was completely packed
- 17:41all the people, and people was enjoying themselves. And to me, that's
- 17:47like an average movie Google goer. If you're an average movie goal, you're
- 17:49just there for you, there for what you came for. You're gonna get
- 17:52what you came for. And I'm enjoying myself. That's the thing. Okay,
- 17:57like I thought on school, Yeah, it wasn't like on the level
- 18:00of like how I entertained. I was by the flash like in the classic.
- 18:06I was not overwhelmed. I wasn't whelmed, and I wasn't underwhelmed.
- 18:10You know, I was somewhere midwhelmed, I guess, but that's what I
- 18:14mean. That's so you're basically saying mid because that's that I don't want to
- 18:17say I understand, but that's like a point of neutrality. That's a point
- 18:21of neutrality that you just mentioned you were, like, I wasn't overwhelmed.
- 18:22I don't, okay, So where the fuck was you? And I was
- 18:25a bit overwhelmed, but not quite overwhelmed? Anna, maybe you Okay,
- 18:32I'm gonna tell you how I was if I didn't see that in the theater
- 18:34and it like if it just I santed passing like on TVs, I'm all
- 18:38right, cool, yes, But that's how I feel about Fastiferio. It's
- 18:45like I would definitely, but because I loved the series War and so that's
- 18:48something like if people love the Transformers, but it's not like they have any
- 18:52characters coming back, you know, Tyrese used to be in a series like
- 18:57yeah, and that I mean people's love for Bumblebee as wild. He's never
- 19:03been my favorite Transformer, the way they turn him into a rampage and murderer.
- 19:07It's also it's like you keep saying that, but they've been on that
- 19:11head But I know, I know, I know, But I just go
- 19:14back to original g One and like g One, bubble Bee is self especially
- 19:18soft like the rest of the Transformers were hardcore when it came down to it,
- 19:22but Bumblebee was that. He was Bumboobee my man's name is. But
- 19:26they still have that, like I will say, like when it comes to
- 19:29them, you see that softness like he's the arm in again another Tackle Titan
- 19:33reference, he's the arming of the bunch where it's like he's known as a
- 19:37soft one. But then when he gets enough xp he gonna he's gonna go
- 19:41in so and that's what you see with Bumblebe and that's fine by me.
- 19:45Yeah, No, I have the thing is right before anyone's hating or anything,
- 19:48I have no problem with them. Blasts of fools. Like one of
- 19:51my favorite moments in this that can kill Jazz bro. But I mean,
- 19:57you forgot no end the movie. They killed Ironheide, the Jazz survives,
- 20:03They kill Ironhy, they kill what's the man Braun, they kill a bunch
- 20:07of people randomly. Optimists runs over one of the accepted talking about the original
- 20:12movie. Yeah. Always, every time I'm talking about a movie, I'm
- 20:15always talking about Michael Bay. Oh yeah he did murder Jazz didn't. That's
- 20:18what I'm saying. Yeah, the problem with Michael Bay I don't know.
- 20:21I don't know nothing about g one, Like that's not my ship, so
- 20:25I wasn't even here. So yeah, well that original Michael Bay joint.
- 20:27Like I don't even remember who got murder because they all look alike and so
- 20:32it's kind of like, you know, Catchers didn't murder randomly, I didn't
- 20:34realize it was Jazz didn't murder. I know Megatron gets murdered in one of
- 20:37them. I remember that moment because he gets his head chopped off, conserved
- 20:41it. Yeah, I think Optimist chopped the man's head off. That was
- 20:44that's Optimist Ben beheaded. But he went in and this one I was loving
- 20:49it. No, he like, that's that's that's kind of new Ben.
- 20:51So like rampage, I'm doing that. It's like you go to Jason's movies
- 20:56to see him go on a murders rampage. I go to Transformace movies to
- 21:00see Optimists on murders remas like he gets fed up with me and he's unhinged.
- 21:03Let's be clear. No, No, he's not unhinged. Heired the
- 21:07man is also unhinged. He's unhinged because and I said earlier, and I
- 21:11didn't get the finish. I thought when I said he'd be talking like Storm,
- 21:14I'm talking about old school Storm Fox kids Storm on Storm were talking about
- 21:17I command the East, the winds of the East, and the west and
- 21:18and and the mountainous plains of the north. And when he should be going
- 21:23on all like that, my man just behead him. I don't need all
- 21:33this commentary. Yeah, I swear there's a YouTube clip. I didn't know
- 21:37he said this in the movie because I think people were screaming it wasn't in
- 21:40this This is an old one. And like I can't remember what he says.
- 21:42People probably know by me referencing it, But he said some of the
- 21:45most wild shit walker in this one, dude, And it's so funny.
- 21:52That's what I'm saying. Peter Cullen is out there at eighty two years old,
- 21:57God bless his stole, still delivering these lines with you know, like
- 22:03if he was twenty two, Like my ma hand does not give a fuck
- 22:06in the world. He is going to make optimists like you are going to
- 22:08believe optimists every time. He's gonna believe. The man is uninjed. Look,
- 22:15he's been fighting this war for I'm tired to take it else. Yeah,
- 22:19that's literally every every movie. And that's what I'm saying. Why I
- 22:22don't even though I'm making fun of him, I don't like I'm still on
- 22:26the side of it. Yes, because he's always gonna come up. He's
- 22:29gonna get tired to take an else because he's gonna take it elk, he's
- 22:32being too soft and he goes, you know what I'm about to I'm about
- 22:34to take your head off. Notice that that is the common theme. And
- 22:37damn there every movie by the end, he's taking somebody head o, taking
- 22:41somebody's head off. Boys off. Um, So this movie besides the Transformers
- 22:49and the terra Cons Maximals, no, no, I'm talking I know the
- 22:56Maximals, but that's the good side. I'm talking about the I'm talking about
- 23:00on this. I don't know what the niggas was because like that that that
- 23:04might be a change up because okay, well in the original animated film,
- 23:11Unicron takes Megatron, turns them to Galvatron takes uh. It's like two other
- 23:17cats. I can't remember their name. They were just Decepticons and he makes
- 23:19them Scourge and whatever the other nigga's name is and so, and they were
- 23:26like because they were near death, like you know, Megatron and all the
- 23:30niggas have gotten beat to death by Optimists. Megatron to kill the Optimists,
- 23:34and then Starstream, being the trader's bastardy was, throws them out into space
- 23:40where their corpses float and then they meet Unicron and Unicron transforms them Megatron andto
- 23:45Galvatron powers them up. He made them the Heralds of Galactis because Unicron is
- 23:52a glacist type. Right. So so this film, this film features the
- 23:56autobots as well as the Maximum Again, this is the side of quote unquote
- 24:00good. Right. Then you have the Predacons, which we're quote unquote pretty
- 24:06because depending on who you talk to, they're like, I don't funk with
- 24:07them, so anyway, true, um, but yes they're the good guys,
- 24:11right, And then you have the Predacons and the terra Cons. The
- 24:14Terra Cons is like Scourge and the rest of them, the Predacons was in
- 24:18this. I used to have the toys. That's what it says that none
- 24:23of them niggas well, that they also was lying about the Maximus quote being
- 24:26in it, because the Predacons were the illest, like especially Toys because they
- 24:32were like biggest fuck and you can take five of them. And they made
- 24:34a big, lying headed like transformer, you know, like you know,
- 24:38when they formed like a voltron type thing. I can't remember his name,
- 24:41but oh man, they were a dope toy and they looked nothing like nothing
- 24:45in this movie. Yeah, okay, I've got one question, you know,
- 24:48before we go any further, because this has been probably bugging me for
- 24:51about fifteen twenty years. And since you're a fan of Beast for as you
- 24:55might be explaining this to me, why the hell did it matter that they
- 24:57look like animals when they're like thirty feet hall like these niggas is not hiding
- 25:03anywhere because animals are cool. I mean, I get that, okay,
- 25:11And they're in they all in the jungle and there's no intervention. There's no
- 25:15humans in the cartoon. I don't recall there ever, And if there was,
- 25:19Beast me but I've never like the big dog like with like the ape,
- 25:23like the biggest ape in the jungle and he just ran the rest of
- 25:26the ape. From my recogllection of Beast words, first of all, it
- 25:29was cgi and it was in hindsight really really really bad, But at the
- 25:33time I thought it was amazing, right, And I never recall seeing a
- 25:37human. I'm not saying there were none, so someone will correct me.
- 25:40I don't give a fuck. I've never seen no humans. And anytime my
- 25:45recogllition recollection pulls that imagery imagery up, they were always in the jungle or
- 25:48out of volcano or in some outsized random area of Earth or whatever planet they
- 25:56were on. So and they were just interacting with other animals or other cons,
- 26:00right, So I don't, I don't. I don't think it's a
- 26:03problem that they was a thirty foot tall snake like whore. I think you're
- 26:07right about that, because I think the lore is that they wake up before
- 26:11the auto box, like they crashed with the arc early art early early,
- 26:15and then they wake up. Even in this movie, they said they've been
- 26:18and they've been on Earth for like Alannia something. Who So that that that
- 26:22does make more sense, that's all. And I probably just should have thought
- 26:25of that before I asked that question. But you know, dam I'm sure
- 26:27someone else has. Hey, So, besides all the I call them the
- 26:33cons, But besides all these things and robots and transformers and robots and the
- 26:37skuies and whatnot, you have the Humans, right, so you have Anthony
- 26:42Anthony Lamos played by no excuse me, no Idea as played by Anthony Ramos
- 26:48about right, Definitely. At that moment I said it, I was like,
- 26:55you know, this kind of feels interchangeable. Post might beat, but
- 26:59no Anthony Ramas. I know he's been in a lot of things, but
- 27:02I was introduced to Anthony Ramas when when he played Mars and Man. Yeah.
- 27:07Yeah, he's been around for a minute before that. He has Hamilton,
- 27:11I think Hamilton, But I knew him way before that, and I
- 27:15was never like the biggest fan of his. But then like as he's gotten
- 27:18older, I feel like he's running them actors who's And that's what's really interested.
- 27:22I want to see him as like when he's in his thirties and his
- 27:26forties, I think he'll be really killing a thing. Like as he gets
- 27:27older, he seems to get more you know, yeah, you know,
- 27:33yeah, seasoning, you know what I mean, Like his life is giving
- 27:36him more where now I'm like, Okay, I really fun with him,
- 27:38Like even in this role, which is not much Stewart, I really fucked
- 27:41with him. Yeah. Also, you have the Great Dominique fishback who's plays
- 27:47and Lena Wallace. I love Dominique again. She's come off a great tour
- 27:52doing the doing Swarm, playing the main character and Swarm. And you know,
- 27:56I was introduced to her through Project Power, that the Jamie Fox led
- 28:00film YEP on Netflix. That's how I that's like I learned about who she
- 28:06was. And ever since then I was like kind of like following her along
- 28:07her career. You mentioned it a few times, Toby and Nigue. He
- 28:11was there a week. He was good. He actually he did a very
- 28:15good job. And I will say that, I will say like, like
- 28:18Anthony did a good job. He did a good job. Um. Dean
- 28:21Scott Vasquez who plays Christyaz Noah's little brother, he did a really good job
- 28:26as well. Um. And then and I'm so mad that she's credited as
- 28:30just missus Diaz, but their mom was played by Lauren Luna Lauren Vells.
- 28:38I mean that role was very light, you know, honestly, I think
- 28:41she only had three lines. If that didn she like walk in and leave
- 28:45and that was it. She said in the beginning, she said something.
- 28:48Then at the end she just gave him a hug. I don't even think
- 28:51she said anything. I don't remember. I just remember Herbie at the beginning.
- 28:56Yeah, you don't even remember. Yeah, she was at the end.
- 28:56She just like gave him a hug, and I was the end of
- 28:59that. But Um Davidson, Pete. Yeah, So let me go down
- 29:03too, because again, there there are people and there are also voice acting,
- 29:06right, any more people we need to mention a lot, a lot.
- 29:08Then let me get to that. I was very happy hearing Michelle Yo's
- 29:14voice. Michelle Yo, she played or voiced the character of air Raiser.
- 29:18No, I meant, were there any more people we need to mention people?
- 29:21Yeah, I'm sure Michelle Um. Peter Dinklish played did the voice of
- 29:26Scourge. Yeah, he was good. Yeah, I did not know that
- 29:29it was who he was playing. I didn't realize it either, so and
- 29:32of course yes. And then you have Ron Perelman, who played Optimist Primal,
- 29:36the voice of Optimist Primal. Peter Colin continues as voice of Optimist Prime.
- 29:41We also mentioned Pete Davidson. He played the excuse me. He voiced
- 29:45the character of mirage Um, which is like a Newish crowd favorite, right
- 29:51at least at least for the film. Uh, Liza Cose she she voiced
- 29:56r C. I know you said you loved arc And and Arci goes back
- 30:02to the first animated film. That's when she first showed up, and this
- 30:04was her first introduction to live action. I think she was the first female
- 30:10transformer. I don't know. Yeah, I feel like she might have.
- 30:17I don't know. And then I think so tong Gai Teresa played cheet or
- 30:22cheetor Um. I was a little annoyed because I was like I saw cheat
- 30:26or but I didn't hear cheat or do anything or say anything. She had
- 30:30one line or he when he was when he landed on top of the other,
- 30:36Yeah, he said something in the crowd cheered, but I couldn't rehear
- 30:38it. No, I didn't hear it, and it was it was like
- 30:42I wasn't sure if that was a line he said yeah or just because it
- 30:47was. It was weird to me when I was a kid, like I
- 30:48always like loved Cheetah, so like that was one of my favorite rope,
- 30:52you know, Transformers or whatever, so like for me to just see it
- 30:55but nothing really happened, I was like, Okay, yeah, I feel
- 30:57like cheat or had like one, like that's what I'm saying, and I
- 31:00felt like, and also for those who think you're gonna get best wards out
- 31:04of this film, you're not. You're not. And that's very wars light.
- 31:08That's what I was asking me because like, like, okay, the
- 31:11original Transformers cartoon was super goofy and like I cannot sit through it. You
- 31:15know, let's be real. It is ridiculously like every episode is just so
- 31:19trifling and there's humans all the time and no one ever dies. It's silly.
- 31:23And then this movie came along where they wanted to sell some more toys
- 31:26and they just body mad people. It's super grown. It's like different.
- 31:32And then Sports like that, Yeah, that's what I was asking you.
- 31:34What was there actually like a because I've heard the be Sports has like a
- 31:38storyline through it even has a very cohesist, like a real storyline, and
- 31:42yes, more like adult approach to it, and it's still a child's thing.
- 31:47Like yeah, I don't remember stuff being goofy. I remember stuff being
- 31:49real, like serious, Like there's something about cartoons or animation of that time
- 31:55period of like late nineties because like like I'm thinking things like Guard Girls very
- 31:59adult. Watch that show, like it was like, oh we wasn' supposed
- 32:01to be watching that, um Fox Kids, you know, X Men,
- 32:05you know, like even though yet Space Off, the comics Batman, Batman
- 32:08Beyond like that, those are some really actually heavy heavy themes, heavy themes,
- 32:16heavy storylines, things that people are going through. And I recall be
- 32:22sports having serious storylines like like an actual like palatable and something that that has
- 32:29some meat to it. I'm heft to it. So uh yes, yeah,
- 32:32I don't call it being goofy again besides the animation actually being bad,
- 32:37but yeah, I fully believe it because it definitely of that time and I'd
- 32:44heard that, and so that's why I was hoping for myself. You know,
- 32:47I've never watched that. I was hoping for some of that in this
- 32:51film, and to me, it's more like they show up to do action
- 32:53scenes and but even then, like I just felt like, and that's really
- 32:58what I'm talking about, right, because remember I told you this, this
- 33:00to great these films, it's more light, right, Yeah, I'm not
- 33:04expecting Hamlet to be told by this, even though in some ways sports sports
- 33:09was like that where it was like every week you was getting like some Hamlet
- 33:13type of shit, but and this it was just like even in the action
- 33:16scenes, I just felt like it was very light on on maximals. It
- 33:21was more so you saw Optimists Primal and then air Raiser and then you know,
- 33:27then the others like background and even like me being kind of unfamiliar,
- 33:31it was more it was more autobots focused too. Yeah, it was more
- 33:34auto about focus, is what I'll say, because I just wasn't very familiar.
- 33:37Like the air Raisers. She shows up and blows and flame on some
- 33:40cats. What I thought, that's when she got down? I thought she
- 33:45got down. I don't remember. I just was, okay, you know,
- 33:51that's how she gets down. I don't know, you know, so
- 33:52I have nolue. And then I was also shocked when they turned into humans
- 33:57because our humanoid forms, because I'm like humanoid form. The Maximum every reason
- 34:05did not churn into humanoid and the areas didn't, but they did Primal did
- 34:09Primal transformed? And so did Cheet Tour humanoid? When did they do that?
- 34:15I was watching the same movie. You were you he said maximals,
- 34:20no Maximal or something maximized, and they transformed into humanoid forms. Cheet Tour
- 34:29had arms and leather was busting people up. I must have blacked out by
- 34:32that point, because I don't remember that. But I'm not gonna hold you.
- 34:37Like there was the point in the film where like my eyes rolling the
- 34:38back of my head, I was like, all right, I'm ready for
- 34:39this to be done, because what's your favorite? Fine? I need.
- 34:45That might have been the point, because I don't recall it. The only
- 34:46one I recalled being humanoid is was RC because r C. That's just how
- 34:51she'd be looking from a motorcycle to walking around like a giant neck. Yeah,
- 34:55r C. But in fact in the movies, r C was like
- 34:59what was she? She was like a truck type thing. No, Cup
- 35:01was the truck or C was a motorcycle. Yeah, so that was about
- 35:04right. Um, No, these dudes turned into humanoid forms. I'm not
- 35:07sure if the bird did, but I know, damn well, I know,
- 35:10damn well. The cheet Tour and Optimist probable because Optimis probably turned into
- 35:15like a grave about like their robotic forms. Yeah how Optimists Prime turns into
- 35:21robot Yes, but I still don't recall that happening. Oh they did it,
- 35:24and they did that. When he said, let's they did that?
- 35:29I know the Terracons had that form, and I'm saying humanoid. That's why
- 35:32I got confused. Okay, robots. So it's like regularly like like let's
- 35:36say met forms, right, like yeah, like the terracons did for sure,
- 35:39because my man's had like two fucking katanas in his hand that ye storage
- 35:45from his homies? Yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Can they go from
- 35:47plane storage? Yeah, niggas had hum Okay, I see if you're saying
- 35:52now, okay, so like like like for example, the giant airplane.
- 35:54No I'm talking about that ape turned into a man, and I'm talking about
- 35:58that cheetor turned into a man. Definitely blacked out on there, but anyway,
- 36:05definitely flat out. It was quick. That's I mean, it was
- 36:07not you know, it was quick. But there was a scene of that.
- 36:09And for fans of these people, you know, I don't understand that
- 36:13since they were obviously you know, before they were humans around, I don't
- 36:15know why they would need other forms, but fucking they got them. And
- 36:20for fans of that, it's you know, it's a good action scene.
- 36:22Like you know, you blacked out. I get it because this is towards
- 36:25the end and there was a lot going on, but it's always made me
- 36:29laugh how much the auto of these robots require the assistance of humans when they
- 36:34are ripping each other's heads out off and doing this and doing that. But
- 36:37it's like, but I need a human, And then you don't have the
- 36:38reason why they're human because I'm too big to go down that hole I walked
- 36:44down that that corridor, or I can't fit through that door. I need
- 36:47a human. It's literally the only reason, because we are the mice of
- 36:52the maze, and it's like, I need a human. Have you ever
- 36:55heard of the Headmaster's balls on the chancel? What you know? Ah?
- 37:06This is this is I actually watched the documentary on the toys, and this
- 37:08is when like their main engineer had left and the struggle years kipped in.
- 37:13But at one point they had these Yeah, there was serious struggles the toys.
- 37:17And then it's even crazier is that Nigga came back later on and they
- 37:22popped again. It was like there was struggles years while he was drawing,
- 37:25and then he came back and the toys were instantly on top again. It's
- 37:28like Nigga, I am that, you know, Yeah, I'm him.
- 37:31But they had the headmasters and I thought they were gonna do the Headmasters.
- 37:37I just love saying that in this movie because the headmasters are when little humans
- 37:45would get inside the head of the transformer and beat ahead and then like you
- 37:49know, power and then didn't get their little power armor like the dude had
- 37:52in this movie, and it was the Headmasters. Well, and I just
- 37:57feel like somebody Transformers like saying headmasters. I'm laughing because this reminds me of
- 38:02something I wanted to say about this film and all these films like that.
- 38:07It's so on the nose with everything. Are you telling me they were literally
- 38:09called the head Masters, but they was in the head the head masters.
- 38:15It's just head masters. I'm gonna put the word done from that. The
- 38:21head Oh my god, everything's so freaking on the nose. And had a
- 38:25whole run of these Yeah, and I was trying not to jump, but
- 38:29we but we're jumping on and the different times this movie has a plot.
- 38:31You the plot is Unit gonna eat these niggas. The plot is back in
- 38:44the day, there was a key that the transform Back in the day,
- 38:51there was the key for this movie. Back the key. Yes, there
- 38:53was a key that the Transformers had that would allow them to travel through not
- 38:58timing space, but through space. Right. It was like a warp.
- 39:00It was a it was a warp core that they could just press the button
- 39:04and go to wherever they need to go. Right. One day, one
- 39:07day, Unicron, you don't his nigga's name, Unicron pops out doing his
- 39:13best um his galactics impression, and they're like, yo, he can't have
- 39:19the key because if he has the key, he's gonna have the ability to
- 39:21go to any galaxy and slurp up all them galaxies. You know, I'll
- 39:24drink your milkshake all that, like a true headmaster. We're so again,
- 39:31it's just ridiculous. So the Transformers was like, nah, homie, we
- 39:37can't let that shit happen. Less fucking take this ship to another planet.
- 39:40Why is always Earth? I don't know, but the Transformers, right,
- 39:46it's always Earth. The Transformers escape their planet before Unicron, it's that shit
- 39:52like Scooby Snacks, and they end up on Planet Earth. They land on
- 39:57Planet Earth like Klo and like and these are the maximals at this point,
- 40:01right, So this is this is again a millennial goal or whatever. Right,
- 40:05So they basically clear to you, Yes, it was because it's also
- 40:09some of it is best worth stuff. Yeah, and I guess I knew
- 40:13that, but I didn't, you know, and I figured it out.
- 40:15So they again, remember they have this little warp quar key whatever you wanna
- 40:16call it. They got the key, they hide it right for millennia,
- 40:21right fast forward and now you get to see Dominique, fishback and friends.
- 40:27Right Dominique is is. It's Laura Croft, you know, brown skin,
- 40:31and she finds an old relic that has a piece of the key in it.
- 40:37Alright, thought transform into She finds this piece of the key. Upon
- 40:40her finding it, it activates. It sends the beacon out into space,
- 40:45which draws Scourge and and and you know, Crown and the rest of them
- 40:47to Earth to go get the key. And again this is after who knows
- 40:52how long. So the fact that you know it's already up that fast is
- 40:54it's crazy to me. So then the transformers also realized that the signal and
- 41:00off. They're like, oh man, that's the key. You know,
- 41:01we've been on this dumb ass, dirty ass planet for seven years. We
- 41:06got a way home. Cucku cool, Let's go get the key. So
- 41:08they're trying to get the key. Scourge and friends trying to go get the
- 41:10key, and a battle in sues and that's pretty much the entire movie,
- 41:15right or the plot. I mean, you forgot Anthony's character getting involved.
- 41:21I don't forget because I'm about to get there many So, like I said,
- 41:23the Transformers, they need the mice in the maze, right, So
- 41:25that's how Anthony comes in, or I call him Antonio start comes in because
- 41:34he ends up befriending Mirage and the rest of them, and then he's somehow
- 41:39ore cable boxes and yeah, and he you know, he's a good stand
- 41:44up guy. He trying to take her of his little brother that got sickly
- 41:46sell anemia. And just like I mean, it's just stuff. It's just
- 41:50so my stuff that's so random, just thrown in here. Man. Anyway,
- 41:52he's a good guy. They established that he befriends the autobox. He
- 41:57says, y'all let me help y'all culku cool. They fight, they fight,
- 42:00they fight, they fight, Some coul shit happens, some born shit
- 42:02happens. And then at the end, this is the part I wanted to
- 42:05ask you, Ben, is that like talk about Cannon? Is that in
- 42:08the Cannon and lore of Transformers that humans get can get pieces of the autobots,
- 42:13and like, yes, this goes back, This goes back to the
- 42:15Headmasters even okay, even before the Headmasters. All right, this is like
- 42:21we said, this has always been the problem with the Transformers, Like you
- 42:23keep saying they need humans, humans, an awesome rice and a maze and
- 42:27when you involved him in these stories, these are giant robot where these humans
- 42:30should get squished me immediately, Yes, immediately, because it should happen immediately.
- 42:37And so in the movie and in the first series, there's a family
- 42:40whom I think, what's the name Sheila buff Is plays him, right,
- 42:43and plays him in the series UM Sparky Witwicky, the Witwicky Family. Yea,
- 42:51yeah, yeah, and Spike I think is a Spike, but it
- 42:54was Sam or spark Sam, but his nickname is like spark Sam, spark
- 42:59with. So in the UM cartoons, it's is it a boy and his
- 43:07dad. I think dad plays a more prominent role and the boy is like
- 43:10the main character than everyone, you know, like little kids should be like,
- 43:14oh that's me, you know. So throughout the cartoon, this little
- 43:16boy it survives death every episode, the dads death every episode. It's ridiculous
- 43:22until finally in the movie they finally give him. They give the little boy
- 43:27this Exos's dad's old Etso suit that they's playing something, and he gets an
- 43:31Exo suit that he can wear and then he can transform into this little car,
- 43:36which is super weird because it's this little boy like never reminds me of
- 43:44years ago at Comic Con there was a little cosway for a little boy,
- 43:46like literally like maybe he was like, oh and to Transformer cosway, and
- 43:52I think he was optimist and he might transform into a little tiny opumist.
- 43:55He folded up at their role as he folded up for him, you break.
- 44:00Yeah, but this dude, this ship, it looked so weird because
- 44:02you know, it's like his head is at the front. It's like,
- 44:05oh, Batman in the Batmobile, you know when he goes in and he's
- 44:07like in the front of the Batmobile. But it's like it's a glass dome.
- 44:10So yeah, it's like this little boy it's looking through this glass.
- 44:15Looked like he's wearing the vision pros from a driving around. So yes,
- 44:21the idea of Anthony's character and that was once again showing in the trailer.
- 44:25So no real sadly. Yeah, so so just to finish the story.
- 44:30So yeah, man, they got them mice and a maze. They fighting
- 44:32and fighting, and you know they finally have to remember I told you y'all
- 44:36in the beginning that Optimist stay taking els right until he can't take it no
- 44:38more. So he finally gets to that point where it's like damn, you
- 44:42know, he on his last ell and Anthony Antonio start he pop out and
- 44:47it's like, yo, I got the I got the power, right,
- 44:50So he got this exo suit on, he going ham On Unicron, of
- 44:54all people, of all things, you get on ham On Scourge and Unicron.
- 44:59I don't know how you got the touch, but he is. And
- 45:01he basically he basically boosts up Optimists like you know what, fuck this shit,
- 45:07I'm gonna go in. And then you know, optimists wins at the
- 45:08end. Yeah, and uh Miurage was also taking them elves and he's the
- 45:14one who hands at all. Yeah, Murage basically sheds his body parts and
- 45:19puts and and and abuse uh Diaz with all of this stuff. Touch.
- 45:27So yeah, that's but that was one of my favorite Yeah, yeah in
- 45:31a tight beat, that's one of my favorite parts of the movie because he
- 45:36gets his whole suit the fucking fire and then tries to take on Sturge and
- 45:40has no effect at all. And I like that not movie that like pretty
- 45:47much cast realism out the door, Like again, how are you gonna be
- 45:51real with stuff like that? But to a degree, right, So they
- 45:53actually did really good because they showed him getting the Mex suit and then also
- 45:59not being able to true he controlled it quite great. Yea, he learns
- 46:01very quickly. And they explained that a way by saying he's the soldiers and
- 46:06he's very bright with machines and he's an engineer, so he'll figure it out.
- 46:09Okay, fine, cool, whatever, But that was to your point,
- 46:13that was like the cooler scene. I was like, Okay, this
- 46:15actually looks good, Like he looked like the back his suit looked good,
- 46:19and like it was believable the shit he was doing. Right, Yeah,
- 46:22it was enough of the mechanics and robotics moving in the right places to make
- 46:25it believable. Yeah, and where he's not like taking out a tread from
- 46:29or all by right right, right, and he was helped like he was
- 46:31like he was helping. He wasn't taking you know, and it's also again
- 46:36back to be in front of me. I was like, Optimist, you
- 46:37couldn't do this shit before, Like, you know, so this little guy
- 46:39with this little pup laser is going in on Scourge, but you know you
- 46:44just letting Scourge hand you you like that, like come on, my guys.
- 46:47I don't know. And it was also kind of unexplained because it was
- 46:50like at one point Sturge their powered by Unicorn and because of that, he's
- 46:53unbeatable. And then Unicorn is still around and Spurge just gets beat you know,
- 46:59you just gets served, And I'm like, what so anyway, I
- 47:01don't know. I was the one thing I was upset about was the crowd
- 47:06went so hamn and Optimists is already like that. I couldn't really understand what
- 47:12he was saying. Is he was finished. I know what he was chewing
- 47:16on Scourge's ear, and I know he had some sweet shit to say,
- 47:20and I'm just like, damn it, now, I gotta say nothing he
- 47:22didn't say earlier. He was like, remember early, he's not gonna take
- 47:24ahead as he did that he said, I'm tired of your monkey ass,
- 47:28Like that's basically, well, I gotta I will definitely watch this hole on
- 47:31T ANDT just to hear what Optimist says again, because I loved you know,
- 47:36I love that. So I say all that to say, look,
- 47:43you know what you went for when you come to see a movie like this.
- 47:45I hope you do. I hope you're not coming in here to see
- 47:47the top of all cinema. It's not. It's yo. Do you like
- 47:52transformers? Do you like seeing robots fight? Do you like some cute one
- 47:57liners here and there? Like cool? Here you go was the pipom My
- 48:00ride of summer movies? Yeah, hurt, we like transformers, so we
- 48:06got some more transformers and animals. Animals, Yeah, I would say,
- 48:10I would say, people like you who know a lot about like g one
- 48:14Gen one, that's why and all that stuff, like like people behind me.
- 48:19There was a group of guys behind me where like anytime, like it
- 48:22was like certain obviously the iconic lines like more than me, they robots and
- 48:27guys like that was looped into I didn't know. I didn't know anything about
- 48:31that, but man, man's behind me was feeling it. He's like,
- 48:36yeah, look, I can't lie if you grew up with that first movie
- 48:39till all Our One is up there with like this is the way, you
- 48:44know, it's up there with anything like till are one is a you know
- 48:47that that's an ill idea too, you know, till all our one,
- 48:51you know, like and maybe that was around when I started Watchingsform, but
- 48:54I don't remember. So the point is, like it's really to me this
- 48:58the real target audience is like g one people, and then people who just
- 49:04want to see robots fight, and people who want to see an animal robots
- 49:07fight, which I think there's gonna be a lot of people, sure,
- 49:10y, yeah, sure, and also Bumbabee fans, which is like everybody,
- 49:14a lot of people for some reason at the end of the day.
- 49:16You know, I'm a Bummabee fan. So I mean, like I love
- 49:20this first movie, and I love Bobb and b throughout these movies, and
- 49:22I loved him from the original joint. I can't lie. He actually he
- 49:25gets murdered at one point two and come back, as I want to say,
- 49:29like Goldbug or something, and I like Goldbug too. Goldbot was probably
- 49:34ill. And then they said thought that after a while I was at the
- 49:37Bumbabee Yeah. I enjoyed myself the most when there was fighting. When the
- 49:43girls were fighting, I was enjoying myself the most, and I was into
- 49:45because it was brutal and it was good. Yeah, fight scenes was brutal
- 49:51and good and it was like heavy machinery, heavy artillery. Okay, let's
- 49:55get it. I was with it. When people was talking and trying to
- 49:59explain stuff, I was again eyes rolling behind my head. I just was
- 50:01like, all right, I don't really care. And it's not even like
- 50:06it's not even like a solid, solid storyline about the people's stuff. The
- 50:08only thing, my only real if you can even call it, that complaint
- 50:14was like kind of a forced love or a forced the affection to me between
- 50:21nobody asked and Elena Wallace, um Anthony and Dominique's characters, Like it was
- 50:27like like even when it was happening around me, was like yeah, um
- 50:34yea. Even the people around me they were like, what, like,
- 50:37so he loves her now? Like it was just weird, weird because it
- 50:39came out of nowhere. There was I mean this, even her leaning her
- 50:43head on him. It was weird. Like they basically they tried to say,
- 50:45oh, you know, they've been through so much a couple, but
- 50:47like there was there was no chemistry in that way, like they weren't really
- 50:52a couple either because she left. No, they were never a couple,
- 50:54right, but they try to but you could tell they were trying to push
- 50:58a romantic chemistry. I'm just like, no, no, bra, she's
- 51:01she's Laura Croft and he's a soldier, Like come on, yeah, No,
- 51:05there was nothing there, And yeah, I feel I think that was
- 51:07completely unnecessary and kind of came off like what you know, it was just
- 51:12I misplaced in random But I mean, and like I said, if you
- 51:14won't even call that complaint, I just it's really just something that I noticed
- 51:16that was annoying. But everything else was like what I expected, Like its
- 51:22transformed from what I'm saying. And you know, again, kudos to Toby
- 51:25in new way. He did very well as Reek. I mean, I
- 51:28think this was his first acting No, no, he's I'm not sure what
- 51:32first film, probably because his first that I've seen him in. He was
- 51:38in He's in the series Mo on Netflix along with Moo mir is a comedian
- 51:43friend. Oh, he was on Rap Shit too. Did he play himself
- 51:45though? But he was, Yes, he plays himself on Rap Shit and
- 51:49doesn't even have a line to the Yeah, and yes, you're right.
- 51:54He played mo on mo mir show. He played all Moo me your show
- 52:00mode. Right, okay, okay, yeah, I camera shared his name.
- 52:05But this seems like this is his first feature film. Yeah, definitely,
- 52:07okay, bid money. Yeah. I mean, like I said that,
- 52:10there's enough like pedestrian comedy and stuff like that for here, and you
- 52:15know that's what it is. Yeah, it's you know, it's cute.
- 52:19You know, it's like this is like you say, this is a Transformers
- 52:22film. Through and through, I feel like, like I say, I
- 52:24had to see bumble Bee again, but I feel like Bumblebee is still the
- 52:28best of the Transformers films. And then I feel like they got better once
- 52:32Michael Bay realized that they shouldn't all the like gray hunking metal and should look
- 52:37more colorful, colorful, yeah, so you can identify them in fights.
- 52:40And once they did that changeover, it's been like just varying degrees of you
- 52:45know, okayish right right, right, right right, yeah. And I
- 52:49think because it doesn't have the returning characters like Fast and Furious, where it's
- 52:53created a family where I can't wait to see what stupid shit tyres and Ludricas
- 52:58did into this episode that because of that, it's like it's missing that super
- 53:02ship. It's dumb and you know, it's don I'm gonna die and go
- 53:07to heaven this one and we're gonna go to hell this time, you know,
- 53:09like what's gonna happen? But because I know these characterists and that's what
- 53:14this series is really missing, I feel like I think I just really can't
- 53:17because otherwise I think this could be understand level Fast and Furious, where you
- 53:21would have those one movies where you're like, yo, like Fast and Furious,
- 53:23what is it? Seven is the one for me? Five when they
- 53:28five when they go to Brazil, the that ship and the bank robbery,
- 53:31that ship's insane. Well yeah, like, oh you mean like the creativity
- 53:35in that part right, we're talking about like the love of heart and the
- 53:37strength of seven is like seven is the when I break down. Seven and
- 53:42seven is the one where I was like, Okay, this is cinema,
- 53:45you know what I'm saying, Like that's the one where I'm just like,
- 53:46all right, this is this is strongest and yeah, and then they've had
- 53:52ten these joints, so we just named two. You know, it's like
- 53:55the rest felt like, oh, you know, there was that scene,
- 53:59you know, and then there's this other scene and then you know, yeah,
- 54:01that's it. So I think Transformers, if they're going to keep this
- 54:05dooring, which obviously by the end twist they are, and they're trying to
- 54:08pimp this universe out, they just need to bring people like Anthony back,
- 54:13you know, they need to and they used to come back up in this
- 54:16hope, and they should because these people make sense in the context of Transformers
- 54:22history, right, Like dominic I said, you know, she's a historian,
- 54:25right, and she she likes to do research and stuff, and there
- 54:29there's clearly, as I mentioned, like the Maximals and the Transformers been here
- 54:32for a minute, so there's the history behind that, and then all the
- 54:35different types of Transformers, so she could be, um, you know,
- 54:37make the Topi area transformers. I don't know. And then as you mentioned
- 54:42Anthony ramost him being a soldier and having that, you know, and having
- 54:49let's talk about it, we're you know, we're towards the end of this.
- 54:51You know, this is the big spoiler. Even though it's been out
- 54:53sadly since May twenty eighth on the internet at the Earth at the latest of
- 54:59your earliest. I know about the least first thing came up on Google search
- 55:02at the very end of the film. I think this other character is from
- 55:07the Transformers films as well, or maybe he's from the actual other franchise.
- 55:09Am about to mention spoiler alert again before we say this. At the end
- 55:14of the film, Anthony Ramos's character is offered a position with g I Joe,
- 55:19the real American heroes, themselves both owned by Hasbro, so the crossover
- 55:24had to happen eventually. That I saw coming a mile away. I mean
- 55:29Soon's man sat down. I said that, And first of all, is
- 55:31what's his face from House of Cards? Yeah? Um, what's his name?
- 55:36The chief of staff from House of Cards. But um, once I
- 55:39saw his face, I was like, he's giving he's giving Gi Joe vibes.
- 55:44I was like, watch that card. And I said that. I
- 55:45said watch that card to a Gi Joe and everybody was like, Oh,
- 55:49no, that's not gonna that's not gonna say that. The damn there and
- 55:51credits roll and they said, gis I said, I told you, look,
- 55:53it's right there. Yeah, it was pretty well telegraphed. I still
- 56:00didn't think, you know, I didn't. By that point, I was
- 56:01just with you, like, let be yeah, So I didn't read,
- 56:06you know, I was like whatever, you know, cool, okay,
- 56:07sudden, even when he flipped the card and everybody selps streaming like I won't
- 56:12mind, because I mean, I'm like even more than Transformers, I'm a
- 56:15huge gijro head, like the Giro original comic shout out to the god Larry
- 56:20Hammer is one of the best prominent chover read, you know, like he
- 56:23turned a toy and made an incredible comic out of it. And so if
- 56:28they ever got to that level in the films, like if Snake Eyes the
- 56:31movies were ever close to how ill Snake Eyes story is in the comics,
- 56:37i'd be all for it. But it just hasn't happened yet, and I
- 56:39have low hopes for it ever happening. So when they flipped the card over,
- 56:44I was like, oh fuck, yeah, here we go again,
- 56:46yeah wash, here we go again. Yeah yeah. And I was hoping.
- 56:54You know, I'm hoping every time because I'm gonna walk down the road.
- 56:57I've seen all the movies, you know, if they do it a
- 57:00new generation, so they're gonna try again again you know, we're in a
- 57:06new generation Z. Snake movie was like four years ago at most. It
- 57:12was more than that. It was right before a pandemic, right before Yeah,
- 57:15they did a snake out because they were trying to do that, you
- 57:19know, they have to be the new series. There'd be snake eyes and
- 57:21then they called the Origins and then they yep, wow, not even two
- 57:25years ago. See what I mean. That's even the pandemic messed up time
- 57:29in the space man. I thought it was like fol but yeah too wow.
- 57:34So no, that droid flopped completely and it was not that good,
- 57:38you know, and they set it up like for sequels because and that when
- 57:44he don't put on the damn mask to the end of the movie, which
- 57:45was like yet another filling mistake. Like yo, that that movie felt like
- 57:50one of them early superhero movies because it's like they didn't want to have him
- 57:52in the match this. Yeah, it's like why would you do this?
- 57:54Like yeah, yeah, so I couldn't say that that hyped me up.
- 58:00And I don't see Anthony Ramos being the type let's they're like, yo,
- 58:04here's all the money and leave this franchise. I can't see him coming back.
- 58:07For gi Jo you know what I mean. So let's stay like,
- 58:10WHOA can't see the again they're trying to I can't see gibout that wave.
- 58:16I thought I thought Gi Joe wave was over again. I just mentioned,
- 58:21you know, maybe they're trying to do it again for gen Z because you
- 58:22know it feels like every generation they got to redo stuff. Yeah, because
- 58:27you know they have the IP or they're trying to keep the IP alive,
- 58:32not really checking for I mean telling me you're really checking for Gijoe like that
- 58:37twenty four now twenty three, it'll be like twenty twenty five before I come
- 58:40out. Like I could, I could kind of understand trans Like I don't
- 58:43even if there's any Transformers cartoons out right now, but I could kind of
- 58:45understand Transformers because at the end of the day, a giant robot is a
- 58:47giant robot. It's always gonna be room for that. Oh, they've been
- 58:51pumping them out. They had a trilogy of movies on Netflix. I want
- 58:54to say last year that was really good. They still pumped them hose out.
- 58:59It's see to sell a giant robot. Yeah, middle age soldiers,
- 59:05American soldiers mostly, what how are you selling that out, well, you
- 59:10could sell it if you did it like uh, Mission impossible, you know
- 59:15what I mean, American Mission Impossible? Could that for Gidro should be it
- 59:20shouldn't be soldiers. They'd do like the impossible missions with ill tech. Cobra
- 59:24should be like this super futuristic tech stuff. You know, you should see
- 59:29like the illest like camouflage suits, you know, and you know, I
- 59:32don't know, three D lasers and I guess girl, yeah, I mean,
- 59:37I look, I'm just trying to give hope. Like you didn't like
- 59:39Mission Impossible, I'd be down for it. Put Snake Eyes up in there
- 59:43on some Mission Impossible ship, or just do ninjas, you know, dude,
- 59:45Dude, like could like this thing sneak Eys is like when he gets
- 59:50really ills about his whole family and his whole family, this Ninja clan he
- 59:52belongs to, and his relationship with storm Shadow and a few other characters like
- 59:58Starlett. So that's what I would do. I would just focused on I
- 1:00:00mean, I say, always focused on the Snake Eyes and Starlett love story.
- 1:00:05And then they tried they did the whole movie, I know, but
- 1:00:07it just they didn't do Once again, they did not do it because they
- 1:00:09had this pretty boy playing snake eyes and that's not snakes snake oys jets.
- 1:00:13His face ruined and that's when this character starts. And that's when you know
- 1:00:16him from that, you know. And that's why it's so dope because Starlett,
- 1:00:20this beautiful woman, loves him even though he tries to be distant from
- 1:00:23her because he don't think, you know, he's worthy of love. It's
- 1:00:25like it's easily written, bro, if you do it, you know,
- 1:00:30you know, you know what this is the world smallifiling. Yeah, like
- 1:00:35I say, the comments will always be there, you know, that's all
- 1:00:37you know. So that's why I'm like, I'm not stressing heavens, Like
- 1:00:40go read them comments for them, they're always break um. One last thing
- 1:00:45I did want to mention. I don't know if you have anything else,
- 1:00:47but I did want to talk about the music, because this is based in
- 1:00:50the nineties and ninety four, I think you said, and it was like,
- 1:00:53that's fun of the big features, like even on the Red Carpet they're
- 1:00:55pumping out the jams and based in Brooklyn and Brooklyn and and and oddly enough
- 1:01:01Machu Picchu in Peru. Yeah, what I'm saying. It's just like I'd
- 1:01:08be saying the elements of the movie. You'd be like, wait what but
- 1:01:13yes. And also also just just a side note, shouts to Dominique Fishback,
- 1:01:16who is from East New York, Brooklyn. I believe Anthony is also
- 1:01:21from Brooklyn. I'm not sure. Not bed Star from Brownsville. Yeah,
- 1:01:25no, not Brownsville. What's the other one to be? It's far more
- 1:01:30not benson Hurst. I thought. I was like, maybe Brownsville. I
- 1:01:36don't know, but they're both from Brooklyn. So and that's that also reasoning
- 1:01:40for why it was the premiere of New York was in Brooklyn, you know,
- 1:01:44versus somewhere else, which was dope. You know that that was a
- 1:01:47nice difference. Yeah, traffic was hell, but it was very dope being
- 1:01:51in Brooklyn, you know what I mean. That was ill and that Peens
- 1:01:53Theater, that whole situation was so beautiful. Yeah. So, but the
- 1:01:58music was on point, you know for the most part. I have to
- 1:02:01say, like I give it about an eight to ten, especially for me
- 1:02:05in nineties, you know, like the use of cool like that by Digital
- 1:02:09Playtiffs was incredible for that scene. I thought that was great. And it
- 1:02:13was like how it fell on beat, which I'm always a fan of when
- 1:02:16editing stuff like that. It is overall, I thought the music, especially
- 1:02:20for being nineties while not you know, it wasn't like two Underground like they
- 1:02:24could have gone, you know, you gotta keep it pop from movies like
- 1:02:27this. They still had some choice cuts that weren't like just a typical they
- 1:02:30Egle Beastie Boys and shit like that. Obviously, you know, they went
- 1:02:35like they went to hypnotize out of Biggie, you know, but that's you
- 1:02:37know, it's it's a hit, yea. You know, so I would
- 1:02:39have preferred some other, you know, more underground biggie cut. But like
- 1:02:44I said, cool like that by Diggbo planiffs was though I can't remember everything.
- 1:02:46Oh they had a nas represent which is a that's an album cut,
- 1:02:50straight up. So that was the you know, that's a straight up album
- 1:02:52cut that was never a single. And that's like one of them hard joints.
- 1:02:57Yeah, yeah, that's Premier getting a chest. So I'd love to
- 1:02:59see that is that large professor one of them too greats. Try to check
- 1:03:01there. That was great cream, a bunch of other you know, some
- 1:03:05classic dr Yeah, yeah, so music, you like the setting overall good
- 1:03:09music, The graphics was good. Yeah, I will say that. You
- 1:03:15know it wasn't babies, boy, they think the collateral damage is. Don't
- 1:03:22all that historical site things the collateral damage collateral damage because they're not hurting at
- 1:03:29least you don't see them hurting people. That historical is. But the historicals
- 1:03:32oh man, all your temples, but that's like a traditional transform. They
- 1:03:37within egy of fucking the pyramids though, like fucking the ships up boy left
- 1:03:43him right. Yeah, so structural damage on ten. Yeah, I like
- 1:03:49the graphic, the cg all that that worked out could generally it looked sometimes
- 1:03:54the Optimists version of Optimists looks weird than the head to me that the headspace's
- 1:03:59weird face looks a little weird, like look a little skinty to me,
- 1:04:02I don't like that. I like, I like big face Optimist. But
- 1:04:04anyway, yeah, most of the boxes everybody looked good. Barge was dope,
- 1:04:10Maarrage was dope. You said themarage was dope. Yes. The usage
- 1:04:15of the powers of the or the abilities of the different bots were well.
- 1:04:19I would say that they were well showcased. So if a bot could fly.
- 1:04:23It was well showcase it could fly, because if if a box had
- 1:04:26none chucks or whatever the fuck, it was well it was. Yes,
- 1:04:30it was well expressed. And I will say that, like like the personalities,
- 1:04:34the powers, and and the the features of each bot were shown prominently
- 1:04:39the ones that you did get to see because it was generally the same five
- 1:04:42or six ones, but they did it well. Yeah. I like that
- 1:04:46one with the mace. Yeah, man, it's with the mace. Like
- 1:04:49the he was like the toad truck Yeah he was yeah that truck. Yeah,
- 1:04:54yeah, he was ill. He was definitely ill. And like,
- 1:04:57like you said, all the action and the different usages, the usages of
- 1:05:00their abilities during the action when fighting, I was, I was awake when
- 1:05:05anything else happening. I was like, all right, so yeah, I
- 1:05:10would you recommend this movie if you're a fan of the Transformers, Yes,
- 1:05:14in the story. If I not, I agree with that we're gonna be
- 1:05:20If not, it's tough. It's tough for me to say, yeah,
- 1:05:24you know, I don't have anything else to add. Been I think that's
- 1:05:30pretty much it for me as well. I want to thank everyone, you
- 1:05:33know, and shout out to everybody who was at the Red Harper premiere.
- 1:05:38That ship was amazing. It was very dope. You had a great time
- 1:05:41out there. Um, thank you for bringing us for the teens theater.
- 1:05:45Uh. Like I said, if you're a fan of Transformers, Joe chet
- 1:05:47this joint. If not during this summer when there's a lot of good stuff
- 1:05:53out, I can't say you can put this off the top of your list.
- 1:05:56But if you're a fan of big robots hitting each other, I'd say,
- 1:05:58you know, fucking I don't know what else big robots hitting each other
- 1:06:00movie, you're gonna get the summer, so go for it, you know,
- 1:06:03Like, yeah, they ain't a specific rim or Robotech coming out this
- 1:06:06summer, so man, you know, yeah, that's another see specific rim
- 1:06:12Actually, and I missed Robotech because, like I know, it was an
- 1:06:15anime transformed to America, but like that would like we've watched at the same
- 1:06:19time Transformers, and even as kids, if you were like this, you
- 1:06:21know trans Persformers has nothing on Robotech because Robotech niggas getting shot dying. Yeah,
- 1:06:28it was terrible. So for a little kid, that ship was just
- 1:06:30like because I didn't know the difference. It was just a cartoon that came
- 1:06:32on and it was like in this cart to Roy the chest and dies.
- 1:06:36It's different. It's very much a bit different. I didn't know until later
- 1:06:41on I found out. You know, I understand now, but yeah,
- 1:06:44yeah, so yeah, but if you're a fan of big robots, you
- 1:06:46know, mindless action, you just want to get out the heat for a
- 1:06:49few hours, the heat, you know what I mean. Sometimes that's all
- 1:06:55you want. And like this is that movie, like wait, we're just
- 1:07:00fast FiOS already came out, already came out. See you what I mean?
- 1:07:02They front Low Boy ain't already because I still ain't even seeing that all
- 1:07:05yet. I haven't either, and it seems like next week is going to
- 1:07:10streaming. Yeah, so I'm like, well, damn, I might not
- 1:07:12see it in the theater at all. Damn, Frank, I gave you
- 1:07:15up on that. I felt like it was only out for two weeks before
- 1:07:17the digital I'm going back to see Spider Verse for the third time before,
- 1:07:20you know. That's all facts. I'm gonna see that as many times as
- 1:07:24possible on the biggest screen available. That being said, thank you everybody for

- 1:10:26us specifically, you have to buy the Merchant four onnerds dot com only.
- 1:10:30All right, appreciate that anything else, But I mean when I missed,
- 1:10:34let's with you the stuff you got out and it's gonna be doing Oh yeah,
- 1:10:40true, indeed I do have a little thing. I mean, thank
- 1:10:42you to everybody who's already done this. But if you can and you're listening
- 1:10:45still, please go to your local Comma book shop, your local bookstore,
- 1:10:50or your big, you know, corporate owned giant of a store like Barnes
- 1:10:55and Noble, or you can hit up the monster that is Amazon dot com
- 1:10:59and please pre order my first ever graphic novel, Jimmy Hendricks Purple Hayes,
- 1:11:08written by Moore and my brother Mellow Marketer Mellow Brown, with art by the
- 1:11:14legend himself, Tom man Drake. Created in conjunction with the Jimmy Hendricks Estate.
- 1:11:23This is an original graphic novel featuring Jimmy Hendricks as you've never seen him
- 1:11:29before. It's a metaphorical tale of Jimmy in space, and it is an
- 1:11:35afrofuturistic sci fi fantasy type story featured around black music and the power of black
- 1:11:45music and the revolution that it inspires throughout the ages. It's, to me,
- 1:11:51personally, the greatest thing I've ever written. I'm beyond proud of this
- 1:11:56book. I just every day gets closer to release, and every day I
- 1:12:00get more and more excited as well, about to throw up in my mouth.
- 1:12:04I've been calling myself the Willie Beaman of comic books because that's how I
- 1:12:10feel right now. I just cannot believe that this is happening still right now,
- 1:12:14So please don't pre order it and make it more real for me.
- 1:12:16I promise you it's so worth it. Even if I didn't write it,
- 1:12:19I would tell you that the art by Tom Man Drake alone is worth the
- 1:12:24price of emission. Absolutely it's sick. I mean, just beyond phenomenal light.
- 1:12:30There are not enough adjectives in the Adil Satan subscribe. Whether he's been
- 1:12:34doing this, man is a legend and people have seen it say and he
- 1:12:38says that this is some of his best work ever. So I've seen some
- 1:12:43of it and I'm blown away. Yeah, I'm still waiting on some of
- 1:12:46the last pages to come in. I can't wait for it. I've seen
- 1:12:49the first well, I've seen three colored pages now. So it's all coming
- 1:12:54together and it's available available for pre order now, So please go out and
- 1:12:59do that. Dropping November seven, Yes, dropping November seventh. Yes,
- 1:13:05Please pre order though as soon as you can, because pre ordering is so
- 1:13:10important to the sales and to whether or not we'll get to do sequels,
- 1:13:14and just to everything with comic books. If you love a comic book,
- 1:13:17it does the best to pre order. Don't treat it like video games,
- 1:13:21where I say do not pre order, I definitely say pre order comic books
- 1:13:25because you know, like stores, everything depend on orders from knowing how many
- 1:13:30orders they need, all this type of stuff. So please, especially if
- 1:13:35you you know have a local Comma Books store going there, tell them call
- 1:13:40them up, tweet them whatever. Hit up anyone comics in Brooklyn, They'll
- 1:13:44ship it to you nationwide. Say yo, I need Jimmy Hendricks, Purple
- 1:13:47Hayes, anyone comments, Please hit me up, send it to me.
- 1:13:51Yes, tell them for our Nerds sent you word that. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 1:13:57And make sure if you will be in or around the DC area October
- 1:14:01nineteenth, please come to the BLACKSNYAN, the National Museum of African American History
- 1:14:09and Culture, where Ben I mean and I and a bunch of special guests
- 1:14:12will be speaking on afterl Futurism in the Oprah Winfrey Theater. Ben I mean,
- 1:14:17do you realize that it's October? Then right after your book comes out
- 1:14:20there, right now, something else comes out. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:14:23Like I might actually have a copy in hand better than That's what I'm
- 1:14:27wondering the world. I absolutely should. So if y'all want to see it,
- 1:14:30if y'all want to see this in person, and you want to support
