Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Donald Jamayo is our Australia correspondent with US this morning, Donna,
- 0:02Speaker 1: good morning to you. Thousands of retail jobs set to disappear.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Oh, well, this is terrible news because a major fashion
- 0:11Speaker 2: retailer looks like it's well teetering on the brink of
- 0:14Speaker 2: going broke basically, so it's been placed under voluntary administration.
- 0:18Speaker 3: It's a company called Mosaic.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It does run quite a number of long established fashion
- 0:22Speaker 2: stores across Australia. We're talking Miller's, Rivers, Katie's and nony
- 0:27Speaker 2: B and it is going to continue to trade in
- 0:30Speaker 2: the lead up to Christmas, we're being told, but administrators
- 0:33Speaker 2: have been brought in to look into the business.
- 0:35Speaker 3: This could impact about two.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Hundred and fifty jobs at head office in Sydney, but
- 0:40Speaker 2: also two and a half thousand jobs across the nation.
- 0:45Speaker 2: So dreadful news and the lead up to Christmas for
- 0:48Speaker 2: a lot of people who don't know.
- 0:49Speaker 3: If they'll have a job afterwards.
- 0:51Speaker 2: But the company says well, voluntary administration was unfortunately the
- 0:55Speaker 2: most appropriate way to try to restructure. So they're hanging
- 0:59Speaker 2: on but not sure what the future holds for lots
- 1:03Speaker 2: of people.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It's hard out there, double whammy of cost of living
- 1:07Speaker 1: and the move to online shopping. Hey, what is happening?
- 1:11Speaker 1: This story fascinates me. This woman is bitten by a snake.
- 1:15Speaker 1: She's missing and the bush for nearly two weeks and
- 1:19Speaker 1: she survives.
- 1:20Speaker 2: It's extraordinary and what a relief for all the people
- 1:23Speaker 2: that were out there searching for her, and for la
- 1:25Speaker 2: Visa Schoburg, a woman who moved to Australia from Sweden
- 1:29Speaker 2: about twenty years ago. Then she moved to the rugged
- 1:31Speaker 2: Snowy Mountains in twenty eighteen.
- 1:33Speaker 3: She loves to photograph wild horses out there.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So she was lost in the Akosiosco National Park for
- 1:40Speaker 2: that amount of time extraordinary.
- 1:41Speaker 3: But she's been found. She's a forty eight year old
- 1:44Speaker 3: woman who.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Did get bitten by apparently a copperhead snake, which is venomous,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and then four days later she was found.
- 1:54Speaker 3: After that bite, she's also.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Rolled at ankle, she's dehydrated, but she's in hospital now
- 1:58Speaker 2: in a stable condition.
- 2:00Speaker 3: One searcher said it was like.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Looking for, as they put it, a pinhead in a haystack.
- 2:05Speaker 3: But they did find it very very lucky to be live.
- 2:07Speaker 3: That's what I'm.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Saying, yeah, very lucky. Indeed, a great ending to that story, Donna,
- 2:12Speaker 1: thank you very much for that. Donald Tomorrow Our Australia corresponding. Actually,
- 2:15Speaker 1: there's a story in the US media today about a
- 2:17Speaker 1: guy who went missing for thirty days in the bush
- 2:21Speaker 1: and in a national park in America, and he was
- 2:23Speaker 1: eating berries and you know, whatever water he could find
- 2:26Speaker 1: off leaves and stuff. And he said he was about
- 2:29Speaker 1: to give up and like literally within hours or a
- 2:34Speaker 1: day of death, and he decided to do one last
- 2:37Speaker 1: scream screams, and the park rangers happened to be walking
- 2:42Speaker 1: past in a track nearby, run to his rescue, save him.
- 2:47Speaker 1: He's alive Today. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
