- 0:54Of y'all welcome today's show were you can get into some rather controversial topics tonight.
- 1:06For once, it's not gonna be me talking politics. It was turning
- 1:10first to the radio Replies series. The question asks, are not the Jews
- 1:15the chosen people of God? And they answer they were God's chosen people into
- 1:19the coming of Christ, and they could have been among his chosen people.
- 1:23Now, how they remained true to God. God did not change his attitude
- 1:26to them. Rather they changed their attitude to him. They have been taught
- 1:32to look forward to the Redeemer, but when he came, they rejected him
- 1:36because they wished him to bring temporal, not spiritual gifts. This is it's
- 1:42a touchy subject. It's a hard one to discuss. You know, Jesus
- 1:49said he would not change, you know when nott one I owed at the
- 1:53law. The Jews still have a valid religion. You cannot deny that.
- 2:01The Catholic Church teaches that, of course we get our faith through Judaism.
- 2:07Very true, they say. The Catechism says that the Judaism is the older
- 2:13brother to Christianity, and all people of any race may be saved if they
- 2:19love their love God with all their heart, love their brothers, themselves,
- 2:22their neighbors, themselves, and truly believe that they are following God the right
- 2:30way. You know, God's going to judge people on what they know what
- 2:35is true. You know, the Church also says all salvation comes through the
- 2:39Catholic Church. Well, that's because we have the true God. The closer
- 2:44any denomination or religion is to Catholicism, the more likely those people will go
- 2:50to heaven. You know, God's like I say, wait a minute,
- 2:54you're a Baptist. You're not getting in here. If the Baptist doesn't know
- 2:59what the Catholic knows, God's going to judge the Baptist by what the Baptist
- 3:02knows. Likewise, the Jew. Now what is true is that before the
- 3:07coming of Jesus Christ, the surest past to salvation was Judaism. After Jesus,
- 3:15the surest path to salvation's Christianity, and specifically the Catholic Church he founded.
- 3:23In the first two three hundred years of Christianity, about half the population
- 3:29about half of all Jews, became Christian. Our apostles were Jewish, most
- 3:36of our early church fathers were Jewish. Eventually, according to my understanding of
- 3:45several revelations given by the Mother of God over the past few hundred years.
- 3:52All other religions will dissolve essentially into Christianity. Jews will become Catholic, Muslims
- 3:58will become Catholic, Protestants will become Catholic once again, etc. Before the
- 4:03end of the world comes. And I know she specifically said that about the
- 4:09Muslims, that they would convert to Christianity before the end of the world.
- 4:13So I don't see the world ending anytime soon. In fact, I was
- 4:15reading Saint Irenaeus this morning, and he was talking about how the world,
- 4:24you know, God rests on the seventh day, made the world in six
- 4:28days, rest on the seventh day, right, that the end of time
- 4:31would come also on the seventh day, meaning you know, the Bible says
- 4:36to God, one year says one day is a thousand years, and a
- 4:40thousand years is one day. He said the end of time would come in
- 4:43six thousand years now. He seemed to be saying that that would it was
- 4:48from the time of Adam to the end. Well, we passed that a
- 4:51long time ago. I mean mankind's been on earth at least ten thousand years
- 4:58since well, probably since Noah's Ark, and who knows how many tens of
- 5:02thousands before then. I don't know. Many scholars have said, many people
- 5:11believe, and I think it's probably likely. You know, the resurrection is
- 5:17the first day, that's the new day of the new Church, the new
- 5:20religion, of the New Man. If we counted that as day one.
- 5:26If we're looking toward when the world might end, it's probably going to be
- 5:33six thousand years from the time Christ rose from the grave. The seventh thousandth
- 5:41year. I think the seventh day of Creation will probably be the last day
- 5:46of the world. So that's totally conjecture on my part, it's conjecture on
- 5:54other people's parts who have said that. But you know, looking at what
- 5:58Saint Ironais wrote, what two hundred and seventy eight or so, he was
- 6:04sort of somewhat thinking along the same lines, just starting at a different date.
- 6:09And if that be the case, we're still four thousand years from the
- 6:13end of the world. So don't y'all be looking for the end times anytime
- 6:18soon. Strap in. We're in for a bumpy ride, that's what we're
- 6:23promised. We're promised things are gonna get a lot worse, for they get
- 6:26better, and honestly, it's a lot. It's pretty hard to even conceive
- 6:30of things being worse than they are now in terms of a lot of things
- 6:33going on in the world. I mean, there are serious wars going on,
- 6:38you got the transhumanism, you got all kinds of perversion, and just
- 6:45horrible stuff, really horrible stuff. I mean, we've just been through COVID
- 6:48and looks like there's another pandemic about to come along and it's just gonna get
- 6:54worse. So strap in those who endure to the end will be saved.
- 7:00And if this old world's got another four thousand years ago, I can't even
- 7:08fathom what it's going to be like. I mean, seriously, you thinking
- 7:13by two thousand years ago, could imagine what twenty twenty three looks like.
- 7:16I certainly can't imagine what would that be for says sixty to twenty three.
- 7:23I mean, seriously, the person asked, what was the religion of Noah?
- 7:30Answer? Man has always had a religion taught by God. But this
- 7:32religion falls into four great divisions. The first is the religion of Adam,
- 7:36who was instructed immediately by God. This was the first stage and is known
- 7:41as the religion of the Innocent Man. After Adam's fall. Number two,
- 7:46Adam handed on to his children the truth about God and the duty of worshiping
- 7:48him. When abel Hofford's sacrifice, the traditions were transmitted by Adam's posterity,
- 7:57but memories faded. Still, conscience are always still. Conscience always dictate what
- 8:03was naturally right. This period could be called the period of natural law.
- 8:07However, God gave occasional revelation to various individuals, such as the patriarchs,
- 8:11over and above natural law, and this stage is often called the period of
- 8:16patriarchal religion or the period of the pre mosaic unwritten law. Third three.
- 8:24The third stage came with Moses. After re multiplication of the human race from
- 8:30Noah men again. Men again began to forget God, and God gave to
- 8:35Moses a clearer exposition of religious duties to be put into writing. This is
- 8:41known as the stage of the written law or that of the mosaic religion.
- 8:46Number four. Finally, God sent his own son to give a more perfect
- 8:50law, the Christian Law, which the Catholic Church teaches today in its fullness
- 8:54and will teach to the end of time. Noah belonged to the second of
- 8:58the four states is that of the patriarchal unwritten law. Person asks why did
- 9:05God delay in sending his son with the perfection of the law. They answer,
- 9:09the delay was adapted to mankind's natural methods of progress from the less perfect
- 9:13to the more perfect. It taught them. It taught the human race its
- 9:18need of God from a sad experience. True, that's the best way to
- 9:24describe the Old Testament. I never do understand why say, oh, it
- 9:28takes so much comfort in reading the Bible. I'm like, have you read
- 9:31the Old Testament? He's horrible. But anyway, it brought out the real
- 9:39dignity of Christ, which could thus be heralded by a long series of prophets.
- 9:46God is not so impatient as man. He is quite content to wait
- 9:48for an acorn to become an oak tree, rather than to create all oak
- 9:52trees immediately. Person says Christ was a Jew and practice the Jewish religion.
- 9:58Why would he establish another religion when the religion of God was already in existence.
- 10:03This goods to the crux of the matter. We might say, as
- 10:05stated above, God gave the true religion to mankind gradually, so that men
- 10:09would be prepared by the more sempral doctrines for still more noble truths. Thus
- 10:16he sent Moses to the Lawgiver, and after sent him a series of prophets
- 10:20to explain the Law, to predict the coming of the Messiah. Christ fulfilled
- 10:24these predictions and taught the perfect Law of God. This religion known by Jews
- 10:30before Christ. The religion of Christ was this perfect fulfillment, and the Jews
- 10:33should have recognized it and accepted it. They did not. And then Christ
- 10:39sent his apostles to preach to the Gentiles. Christ did not therefore establish another
- 10:43religion. Christianity is the perfect development of the Jewish religion, just as the
- 10:48perfect tree is the perfect development of the seed from which it grew. All
- 10:56right, let's get into Father Spirago's explanation of the Catechism and today's Today's topic
- 11:09is one that, oddly enough, Protestants have a great deal of trouble with.
- 11:16In the Bible, it says that the disciples of Jesus after the Resurrection
- 11:22greet each other with a sign of the cross. Catholics still make the sign
- 11:26of the cross. We say in the name of the Father and the Son
- 11:30and of the Holy Spirit, and we touch our forehead, our chest,
- 11:33and two shoulders, we make the sign of the cross. For some reason,
- 11:37Protestants don't. No one knows why. No one knows why Protestants abandoned
- 11:43that tradition that is mentioned in the Bible. But my gosh, do they
- 11:48get upset Catholics for making the sign of the Cross. I don't know why.
- 11:54I mean, I have been in family gatherings people I have known for
- 11:58years across myself and they just start screaming at me. They find it so
- 12:05offensive, or they mock or laugh at it. I mean, I know
- 12:09one Baptist who was an old friend of the family who thought it was like
- 12:13some matter of mockery. I mean, like, hey, I'm just took
- 12:16on a Satanic countenance when he was mocking me and my mother for making the
- 12:22sign of the cross. We said the blessing before eating our meal. I
- 12:30don't get it. I don't understand it. Let's see what Father Sparago says.
- 12:37Well, let me tell you. If you're in a group and there's
- 12:41an anti Catholic in there and you make the sign of the Cross, they're
- 12:45coming after you. I mean, it is like well, you know what,
- 12:52I'm gonna say something that would probably be misunderstood, and I'll have to
- 12:54revisit it later. I believe that anti Catholic bigotry is a form of Satanic
- 13:01possession. I can't explain it any other way. You see a perfectly peaceful,
- 13:07like good, happy Christian suddenly become filled with rage and anger and mockery
- 13:16in their condemnation of a Catholic. It's like, you know, like when
- 13:26in the old movies where you show across to a vampire. Okay, it's
- 13:30like in I don't know, like The Exorcist or something, holy water to
- 13:33a demon if you're sitting in a room with I mean, I've been in
- 13:39the room with people in the Masonic Order, so I've seen this firsthand,
- 13:41who happen to be friends and relatives. And you make the sign of the
- 13:46Cross, you may as well just put holy water on a demon. They
- 13:48will start screaming just because you cross yourself. As mentioned in the Bible,
- 13:58I can only assume that there is some level of demonic possession, and even
- 14:05the best, most devout, holy godly Protestants who have such strong hatred for
- 14:11Catholicism the way they react the way they hate the Mother of God. I
- 14:16mean they don't just say, you know, okay, Catholics have a different
- 14:18idea of Mary than we do. Catholics honor saints, and we don't honor
- 14:22saints for no apparent reason. You know, the Bible mentioned saints and says
- 14:26you should honor saints and all that. Okay, they could have their difference.
- 14:30You have a statue of Mary in your front yard, or you say
- 14:33something about the Blessed Mother and they get angry. What would cause that other
- 14:41than demonic possession. It's not just a simple difference of opinion. It's not
- 14:46something to discuss. It's this rage, this mocking rage, which is purely
- 14:52satanic. And am I saying all Protestants are possessed by demons? No,
- 14:58I'm not saying that. But those who react in that way, I think
- 15:05probably are. I mean, they're plenty of apply of Protestants out there.
- 15:09You know, one of my best friends is a Protests. He's not denominational.
- 15:13He doesn't care that I'm Catholic. We just talk about the Bible,
- 15:16or we talk about, you know, what's happening in our lives. We
- 15:18get along great. But I mean I have seen people who really I cared
- 15:26about, who really cared about me? Old friends twenty years, we've been
- 15:31friends, thirty years, we've been friends, turn into something like a demonically
- 15:37possessed maniac just because I crossed myself in saying it. Prayer, what's up
- 15:46with that? That's not normal? I mean, I mean they could be
- 15:50sitting there. I mean, they could be a you know, a conservative
- 15:54Republican. Are they going to react that way to a liberal Democrat? Now,
- 15:56They're probably going to have a respectful conversation. They could be in Atlanta
- 16:00a Bulldog, a Georgia Bulldogs fan, or Atlanta Braves fan and run into
- 16:06you know, a Clemson fan or a Mets Oh gosh, you know,
- 16:11Mets fans and Braves fans don't mix. Philly's Oh my gosh. Yeah.
- 16:15But no, we will sit there and talk baseball, and we'll talk about
- 16:18the great cheeseteaks in Philly and you know, the hot dogs actually in Georgia.
- 16:25We're gonna have a little banter. We're gonna, you know, tease
- 16:26each other a little bit and sold each other a little bit. But it's
- 16:30gonna be in a good nature way. But man, I mean, there's
- 16:36a percentage. Maybe I don't know what a percentage thirty fifty, seventy percent.
- 16:40I have no idea of Protestants who if they see you cross yourself,
- 16:45or if you mentioned the Mother of God, you'll see something come over them
- 16:49that is pure evil. And I don't get that. I cannot unless it
- 16:57is some form of demonic ession. I cannot explain it because there is no
- 17:03reason a person should literally be transformed from a friendly, loving, happy into
- 17:11this anger, this rage, and mocking at the same time. There's always
- 17:18part of it, and that's really what the devil's all about. I mean,
- 17:22that is the there's the characteristics of Satan. Anyway, I hope you
- 17:30never experienced in your life. I happen to live in an incredibly I mean
- 17:36ninety nine percent Protestant area. I mean, I'll be standing in line at
- 17:38the grocery store of the DMV and somebody see my crucifix and start screaming at
- 17:42me, just just literally, I mean in the middle of a public place
- 17:49like the DMV or the grocery store, and someone will start insulting and yelling
- 17:56and cussing at me. If it's not Satanic, I don't know what it
- 18:04is. I mean, honestly, Muslims don't treat me that way. Muslims
- 18:11are incredibly Everyone I've encountered has been incredibly polite, and it's like we're different,
- 18:18we respect each other, and that's it. Okay. Now, granted
- 18:22I haven't been around the Jihades. I mean, you know, they haven't
- 18:23tried to cut my head off or something. That would be a completely different
- 18:26thing. Jews universally, I have never ever been insulted on a religious basis
- 18:33by a Jew, whether conservative or liberal, whether we like each other or
- 18:37didn't like each other. Protestants look out, I mean, pure demonic rage.
- 18:48And yeah, usually they do have a connection to the Masonic Order.
- 18:52I really believe there's something very satanic in Masonry. Purely satanic in Masonry actually,
- 19:03so anyway, m Father Sparago says, the Catholic makes confession of his
- 19:08faith, most especially by the sign of the Holy Cross. By it he
- 19:14lets men know that he makes profession belonging to the religion of the Crucified Savior.
- 19:19To Jews and Turks, the cross is an object of hatred and contempt.
- 19:22Well, he actually meant Jews, a Muslim, you know, the
- 19:26Turkey in the eighteen hundreds was the most well. I guess what would you
- 19:33say, would you say Turkey would be the most prominent Muslim country today?
- 19:37I mean they want to be. I think Iran would probably be more prominent.
- 19:42I mean United Arab emmirates in Saudi Arabian terms of wealth. But anyway,
- 19:47when he says Turks, he means Muslims. Anyway, to the Jews
- 19:52and Turks, the cross is an odd object of hatred and contempt. Protestants,
- 19:56too, pay no honor to the Holy Cross, though there are indeed
- 20:00some of them who in the present day have learned the practice from the children
- 20:04of the Church. Now he doesn't mean the church and have a cross hanging
- 20:08in it, or a Christian the prize of Christian doesn't wear a cross.
- 20:11He means making the sign of the cross. The sign of the cross is
- 20:15thus the peculiar property of Catholics all over the world. It is a custom
- 20:22so ancient that is generally believed to have been introduced by the Apostles. The
- 20:26sight of a cross is made by touching with the outstretched fingers of the right
- 20:30hand, first the forehead, then the center of the breast, then the
- 20:34left, and finding the right shoulder, saying, meanwhile, the words in
- 20:38the name of the Father touch the forehead, and the Son touched the breast,
- 20:41and the Holy Ghost touched the left and right shoulders. Amen. There
- 20:45is also another way of making the sign of the cross, by making three
- 20:48crosses with the thumb of the right hand on the forehead, lips, and
- 20:52breast. Successfully mass when they read the Gospel, you say, maybe on
- 20:56my mind, on my lips, it on my heart. You make a
- 20:57cross on your forehead, over your heart, hit on your lips. In
- 21:02between, cut out secrets so that each of the three cosses is made simultaneously
- 21:08with the name of one of the three persons of the Blessed Trinity. In
- 21:11making the sign of the cross, with the left hand should be laid across
- 21:15the breast, and the sign should be made deliberately, not hurriedly, as
- 21:19is too often done. And I'm very guilty of that. I often cross
- 21:23myself far too quickly, and I'm making a concerted effort, especially when I'm
- 21:29saying in prayer before a meal. You know, I'll go name of follows
- 21:32on the Holy Spirit, and I'm ready to eat. No. No,
- 21:33I'm making Ever since I read this about a year ago what fathers farago said,
- 21:40I have made a conscious effort to slow down when I cross myself.
- 21:45Still have not gotten it perfect. Still do things, you know, without
- 21:49thinking sometimes, But yeah, we need to be reverent in making the sign
- 21:53of the cross, he says next point one. In making the sign of
- 21:59the cross, we may a profession of the most important doctrine of all the
- 22:03mysteries of our holy religion, visavi, the doctrine of the Blessed Trinity and
- 22:07the incarnation of our Lord's Lord Jesus Christ. By uniting all three persons,
- 22:14Father's Son and Holy Ghosts under one name, we make profession of our belief
- 22:18in the unity of God. The name of God indicates his authority and power,
- 22:23and that we act under his commission. In making the sign of the
- 22:27cross, we profess our belief and the Blessed Trinity by the words in the
- 22:30name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost, the name
- 22:34of Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghosts. See I did
- 22:38too fast again, got to slow it down in making the sign of the
- 22:44cross. By the very form of the cross which we make upon ourselves,
- 22:48we make profession that the Son of God died for us upon the cross.
- 22:52Thus we see that on the sign of the Cross we have a short summary
- 22:55of the whole Catholic faith. The Catholic Church holds the sign of the crossing
- 23:00honor. It is repeated over and over in Holy mess in all the sacraments,
- 23:03and all the blessings and consecrations. The cross is placed in our churches,
- 23:07of our altars, on our banners, on the sacred vestiments, over
- 23:11the graves, and over the graves of the departed. Churches are built in
- 23:15the form of a cross. Point two. By means of the sign of
- 23:19the Cross, we obtain a blessing from God, and especially by it we
- 23:23are protected from the assaults of the devil and from all the dangers, both
- 23:27to body and soul. The sign of the Cross is no empty ceremony,
- 23:32but it is of itself a blessing and a prayer for a blessing from God.
- 23:37The sight of the cross chases away the devil in his temptations, as
- 23:40the dog fears the whip with which he has been beaten. So the evil
- 23:44one dreads the sign of the Cross, for it reminds him of the Holy
- 23:48Cross by which he was vanquished on Calvary. There was once a stag which
- 23:52bore between its antlers a tablet on which was written in golden letters. The
- 23:56word I belong to the Emperor hurt me not no huntsman ventured to shoot this
- 24:03stag. So whenever we made the sign of the cross, we bear the
- 24:06inscription I belonged to Jesus Christ. And this protects us from the enemy of
- 24:10the devil, from the enemy the devil. It's interesting, I wonder how
- 24:17okay, I'm sure it's a legend, the stag with a sign behind us
- 24:19between its antlers. I just, you know, stix in my mind for
- 24:22a minute. I'm a hunter. I love to hunt deer, and I've
- 24:26never seen anything like that, obviously, But then again, look up the
- 24:30story of Jaegermeister. That has a lot of religious significance. Actually that liqueur
- 24:36that a lot of people like the drink when they're freshman in college. It's
- 24:41a little too sweet for my taste. It actually means hunt master. And
- 24:44there was a saint his name won't come to me right now, who actually
- 24:48saw the sign of a cross between the deer's antler, and he's the one
- 24:52that to whom the formula is attributed, and he's the patron saint of hunters.
- 24:57But anyway, that's a different story. All the saints, the lives
- 25:02of all the saints are just fascinating. We really need to spend a lot
- 25:04more time learning about the saints. He goes on in war, no one
- 25:10ventures to injure those who wear on their arm the band of white to indicate
- 25:14their physicians or nurses or ministers of religion. Wish that was still true.
- 25:18So the actually they're often targeted in modern warfare. Yeah, so the devil
- 25:27does not dare attack those who are signed with the Holy side of the Cross.
- 25:33The sign of the Cross, says Saint John Damassine, is a seal
- 25:37at the sight of which the destroying angel passes on and does us no harm.
- 25:41The brazen serpent fastened on a pole in the desert was an image of
- 25:45the cross. Now, this is this is fascinating, all right. So
- 25:51you may remember, you know, Moses is leading the Jews out of Israel.
- 25:56He's just got in the Ten Commandments. They're not going to have the
- 26:00idols and all this. And then suddenly the Jews again turned back to their
- 26:07idols and poisonous steaks start killing him. Well, God, who's just told
- 26:11Moses to not allow any idols, make no graven images, as our Protestant
- 26:17brothers and sisters often remind us when they criticize us for our statues of saints
- 26:21and such is told by God to make a statue an image of a snake
- 26:29out of I guess copper, and put it up on a pole and hold
- 26:32it up and everybody looks at it'll be saved. So did God could tell
- 26:36Moses to make an idol? Did God violate the ting Commandment's new No.
- 26:42That serpent essentially can be seen in many things. One it could have been
- 26:48a representation, a sort of a banner, an emblem of one of the
- 26:51tribes of Israel. Some people say that. Others say, like father Sparago,
- 26:56it was an image of the cross. Others say it was an image
- 27:00to represent sin. You know, Jesus died on the cross, taking on
- 27:07the burden of all our sins, and that serpent on a stick essentially in
- 27:12the form of a cross, could have also been a symbol, essentially prefiguring
- 27:21a crucifix. Any way you look at it. Though, when protests say
- 27:26make no graven image, you shouldn't have a statue of Marya in your front
- 27:30yard. You can say, well, wait a minute. The same Moses
- 27:33who gave you that teaching was told to make a bronze serpent and put it
- 27:37up on a stick. You have to understand the meaning of the words.
- 27:44Don't worship idols perfectly okay, to make statues perfectly okay. To have a
- 27:51picture of a saint, or picture of your loved one in your pocket,
- 27:53so you look at them and you're reminded of your family, whether on earth
- 27:56or in heaven, whether by blood or by what Father's for. I call
- 28:02it yesterday a sanguinarity by blood or brothers and sisters in Christ, which the
- 28:07saints are, you know, perfectly wonderful. To make a cross, a
- 28:15crucifix and venerate it. You know, Protestants for some reason will venerate an
- 28:22empty cross, but not one with Jesus still hanging on it. It's not
- 28:26the wood of the cross that saved us. It's the man, the God
- 28:30who hung on the cross. So you know, you might want to think
- 28:32that one through anyway. So the okay, the brazen serpent fastened the pole
- 28:40in the desert was an image of the cross. Of Christ and protected all
- 28:44who looked upon it from being bitten by the fiery serpents. So the sign
- 28:48of the Cross recalls to our mind the Cross of Christ and protects us from
- 28:52the snares of that old serpent, the devil. In the year three twelve,
- 28:56Constantine the Great, with his whole army, saw a cross of light
- 29:00in the sky, and upon the words in this sign, thou shalt conquer.
- 29:06These words are also a true sign of the Cross. Even to remember
- 29:10the Cross of crisis, Saint Augustine puts our hellish foe to flight and gives
- 29:15us strength to resist temptations. Many of the saints used to make the sign
- 29:19of the Cross whenever any evil thoughts assailed them in the times of persecution of
- 29:26In the times of persecution, the heathen gods often fell prostrate to the ground
- 29:30at the sign of the cross. On occasion defining the Holy Cross by Saint
- 29:34Helena, Helena, a woman who was blind, was restored to sight by
- 29:41merely touching it. The sign of the Cross often frees men from bodily evils.
- 29:45Also, many of the Holy martyrs, upon making the sign of the
- 29:49cross, felt no more pain or torments. Saint John the Divine once had
- 29:55a cup with a poisoned draft. Put in his hand. It's wine with
- 29:59poison in it. Put in his hand a drink, he made the sign
- 30:02of the Cross over it, and then drank it without receiving any harm from
- 30:06it. Something similar also happened to Saint Benedict. In the Old Testament,
- 30:11we find allusions to the sign of the cross in the letter Foul Thhau mentioned
- 30:17by the prophet of Ezekiel. God sent destruction upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem on
- 30:22account of the abominations committed there, but an angel was previously commanded to mark
- 30:26the sign foul. I guess is how you pronounce the thhau upon the foreheads
- 30:32of all those who mourned and lamented on account of the sin of the city.
- 30:34That's from Ezekiel. We should often make the sign of the cross,
- 30:38especially when we rise in the morning and we will retire to rest, before
- 30:42and after our prayers, before and after our meals very important. You know.
- 30:48In earlier times Catholics always said the blessing after the meal, thanksgiving for
- 30:53the meal. They just date. Now we say the blessing before the meal.
- 30:56That's really more of a Protestant influence comes to us through the english'd probably
- 31:03be best to say a prayer before and after the meal, but we really
- 31:06need to bring back prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving after a meal. I keep
- 31:11saying that I forget it every time. I'm serious. I've been for a
- 31:12year. I've been trying to remember do this. That tells me how important
- 31:15it is, because if it wasn't important, the devil wouldn't be trying so
- 31:21hard to keep me from remembering it. Anyway, and wherever we are at
- 31:26tempted to sin, and whenever we have any important duty to perform, make
- 31:30the sign of the cross. We should make the sign of the cross in
- 31:33the morning in order to obtain the blessing of God on the day, in
- 31:37the evening, to ask for his protection during the night, before all important
- 31:41undertakings that may turn out well before our prayers, in order that we may
- 31:44not be distracted in saying them. I often get distracted. You might have
- 31:49figured that by listening to my show, I have a rather active mind.
- 31:53The early Christians may continual use of the sign of the cross. Tertullian in
- 31:57twoin forty says two forty eight d says, at the beginning and during the
- 32:01performance of all that we do, when we go in and out of the
- 32:05house, when we dress ourselves, when we lie down to rest, in
- 32:08fact, in everything, we mark ourselves on the forehead with the sign of
- 32:12the Cross. The sign of the Cross should also be made during Holy Mass,
- 32:15at the beginning, at the absolution, which the priest gives, at
- 32:19the foot of the altar, at the Gospel, at the consecration, at
- 32:22the priest blessing, and at the end of Mass. Saint Edith, the
- 32:25daughter of the King of England, often made the sign of a cross with
- 32:30her thumb upon her forehead. Thirteen years after her death, her thumb remained
- 32:36quite incorrupt. Isn't that amazing. Her rest of her body decomposed, her
- 32:38thumb did not. Each time we make the sign of the Cross, we
- 32:43contrite our hearts, we gain an indulgence. Each time we made the sign
- 32:46of the Cross with contrite hearts, we gain an indulgence of fifty days.
- 32:53When we make the sign of the Cross, we should, if possible,
- 32:55make it with holy water. If you don't have some all ready, to
- 33:00get some holy water. The Association of the Miraculous Metal has holy water,
- 33:05blessed oil and blessed salt. I love the association of the Miraculous Metal.
- 33:12Of all the confraternities, they probably say more prayers from me than the others.
- 33:15And I pray the Rosary for all the attentions of the members of the
- 33:20Miraculous Metal every day. And they have blessed oil, holy water and blessed
- 33:24salt super cheap. And it's a donation. You make a donation when you
- 33:30buy it. I mean, I don't know. I mean I got a
- 33:35large thing, like you know, twelve ounces of holy water for like I
- 33:42mean, with shipping and all, it wasn't even eight dollars. And I
- 33:45mean it's lasted me a couple of years, you know, so I can
- 33:47at home signed across with holy water again. I got a beautiful glass bottle
- 33:53with a miraculous metal in the front of it of blessed oil from them.
- 33:58I use it every night. I need some blessed salt. I haven't gotten
- 34:00it yet. I need to do that. Holy water has a special power
- 34:07to offend us against or you can ask you a priest for holy water.
- 34:08I mean you can go to any parish and the priest will give you holy
- 34:12water, no problem, Okay, you don't have to buy it. I
- 34:15just particularly like the association of the miraculous metal and joining them has brought me
- 34:21many great blessings, and I mean, I hope you will consider supporting them.
- 34:25But yeah, you can absolutely just get it from your parish. Holy
- 34:29Water has a special power to defend us against all attacks of the devil.
- 34:32When we make the sign of the Cross with holy water, we gain each
- 34:36time an indulgence of one hundred days. According to Pious the Ninth, who
- 34:42declared that March twenty three of eighteen seventy six, holy water is placed at
- 34:46the doors of our churches and should be placed at the doors of our rooms.
- 34:51We must never be ashamed of the sign of the Cross, lest Christ
- 34:53be ashamed of us. The devil rejoices when he sees anyone neglect to make
- 34:58the sign of the Cross, for he knows that the cross is his destruction
- 35:01and a sign of victory over temptations. See y'all, I'm in a wrap
- 35:07it up there that actually covers that whole chapter. It is so very important
- 35:14that you make the sign of the Cross. Make it, I mean constantly
- 35:17throughout the day before taking any action, before thinking about anything important, before
- 35:22saying any prayer, before eating any meal. And the more you make the
- 35:29sign of the cross publicly, well, the more you do it with a
- 35:34contrite heart, and all the indulgences you'll gain. Indulgences are very real and
- 35:38good things. They didn't just disappear because Martin Luther had an issue with him.
- 35:43An indulgence is like is a penance if you were do fifty days of
- 35:49penance. That's what an indulgence of fifty days is shortens our time in purgatory.
- 35:55But I guarantee you at work, if you're at school, if you're
- 36:01at a family reunion, if you're at you name it. You make that
- 36:06sign of the cross publicly, you will see exactly who the people around you
- 36:13are. The devil reacts to the sign of the cross with absolute rage,
- 36:24and you'll be amased. You will be absolutely amazed the way some people will
- 36:30react to you. And it's better you find out now. I mean seriously,
- 36:37I mean you may want to. Don't be ashamed of it. Don't
- 36:40be afraid to do the sign of the cross in public, make the sign
- 36:44across in public. You need to know who these people are because you know,
- 36:50you can't trust them. They may be your brother, your sister,
- 36:53your you know whatever. If you make a sign of the cross, trust
- 37:00me. You'll never believe how my father reacted. My dad's a very bad
- 37:05guy. You know. My parents' divorcement was five. He really had nothing
- 37:10to do with me until he found out I became Catholic. And then oh,
- 37:19he just went to a rage. The man who didn't care for me,
- 37:22didn't love me, didn't provide for me, didn't provide money for my
- 37:25support, pay for my college anything. Actually, I think the first semester
- 37:30he did kick in a little bit, but that was it, okay,
- 37:35And that was just kind of out of guilt, I guess you would say.
- 37:39You know, he didn't even send me a Christmas card last Christmas.
- 37:42He doesn't care about me whatsoever. But he's you know, he's a big
- 37:47outspoken Baptist. He works with Franklin Graham and goes on mission trips and all
- 37:52that. And when he found out I became Catholic, boy, it was
- 37:55a personal insult to the man that never raised me. You need to know,
- 38:02no matter how uncomfortable it is, who's on your side not And the
- 38:07more you made the side of the cross publicly, especially at family gatherings,
- 38:13especially in social gatherings, as political whatever, at work, at school.
- 38:21You're going to find out real quick, very quickly, who is on your
- 38:27side and not because the devil goes into a rage at the side of the
- 38:30cross. And I'm telling you you'll be amazed. You'll be amazed at some
- 38:37of the people that, well, you got two choices. Do you're either
- 38:45mentally ill or demon possessed? That's it. I mean, there's not an
- 38:50in between. The way they react, the way a normal person who's being
- 38:55friendly and joking with you or you know, saying a prayer for you in
- 39:00it before, will fly into this bizarre, mocking hate field rage when they
- 39:07see you across yourself. It's either mental illness or demonic possession. There is
- 39:15no rational explanation for it. So you seriously, for your own good start
- 39:23crossing yourself publicly as often as reasonably you know possible. And yeah, you
- 39:32can learn real quick who's on what side. I mean, you don't want
- 39:38to somebody reacts that way. You don't ever want to count on them for
- 39:43anything. I mean, they'll turn on you. They're they're not right,
- 39:46they're not right, So all right y'all, in the words of Saint Patre
- 39:54Pio, pray, hope and don't worry and I will talk to you next time.
