- 0:03S1: The was welcome to Thursday afternoon. Your old mate Shane
- 0:08S1: Dunk ready to drive you home if you're ready for
- 0:11S1: a change. There is a whole bunch of jobs up
- 0:14S1: for grabs, and Antarctica.
- 0:19S2: Sounds like a pretty chill job to me.
- 0:21S1: Oh, I see what you did there. It's the worst
- 0:24S1: dad joke you've ever delivered. And I love it. Benny.
- 0:26S1: Boys giving you a one fingered wave. He's a big fan, too. 3:20.
- 0:31S1: If you want to up sticks and move to Antarctica
- 0:33S1: and have nothing to do but save your cash, we'll
- 0:36S1: give you the options.
- 0:37S2: The next 101 on how to get pulled up by
- 0:40S2: a cop on a pushbike.
- 0:42S1: But this is on an Australian like one of the
- 0:44S1: cop TV shows like Highway Patrol or whatever. And the
- 0:47S1: bloke's a Kiwi and he is awesome. That's your smoko
- 0:52S1: for your next Audioslave. Show me how to live rock.
- 0:55S1: Drive on the rock.
- 0:56S3: Rock drive with Jay and dunk.
- 0:59S1: Red Hot Chili Peppers, scar tissue, rock drive in the rock.
- 1:01S1: Before we get to smoke, I just want to acknowledge
- 1:04S1: a Belgian athlete. Leo. Sorry. Lynn Show has done 11,900
- 1:10S1: pull ups in 24 hours to get a Guinness World Record.
- 1:14S2: I don't reckon I could do 11.
- 1:15S1: Neither.
- 1:17S3: Smoke. Cheers to my toe training with my toe by industry.
- 1:21S3: For industry.
- 1:22S1: It's just about realizing what your potential is and it's
- 1:25S1: nothing being happy with it. Speaking of potential, maybe you
- 1:30S1: could partner with my toe and future proof your business
- 1:32S1: and your team and your industry. You can take smoko
- 1:34S1: to 3520 500 bucks up for grabs from those legends
- 1:39S1: tomorrow afternoon. You got to be in to win. Now,
- 1:41S1: this bloke here has a Kiwi bloke gets pulled over
- 1:45S1: in Australia. It's on one of their cop shows and
- 1:47S1: he's just a vibe. He's got a mountain bike that
- 1:50S1: he's retrofitted a two stroke motor to with a little
- 1:53S1: petrol tank and stuff. And obviously it's basically a motorbike now. Right.
- 1:59S1: So then you need to comply with the safety standards
- 2:02S1: that the Australian police enforce, and he hasn't at all.
- 2:07S1: In fact, he's using, um, his work boots as the brakes.
- 2:13S4: This man and his souped up bike have been pulled
- 2:15S4: over by Senior Constable Shaun Roth and leading Senior Constable
- 2:19S4: Marcus Owen.
- 2:20S5: You've got to comply with all the requirements of it
- 2:22S5: being a motorcycle. That one's okay. This one's not sufficient
- 2:27S5: braking capacity in order to pull it up. We noticed
- 2:30S5: when you were when you were coming to a stop
- 2:32S5: using the old, uh, Barney Rubble. Fred. Flintstones. Yeah, that's
- 2:36S5: my brake right there. You see that? That's pure brakes
- 2:39S5: right there. Is this your speedo? Oh, no. No. I
- 2:43S5: thought it was a Speedo. Yeah. Oh, I can kick
- 2:48S5: out about, what, 65, 76? This is this is your accelerator.
- 2:52S5: We've got the clutch right here. You pop the clutch.
- 2:54S5: That's what makes it goes. That's what kick starts it.
- 2:56S5: It's like kicking the car in second. You've got your accelerator. Oh,
- 3:00S5: you got your kill switch right here. It's the, uh,
- 3:02S5: motorbike accelerator. Cable? Everything you need for a push bike. Hey,
- 3:07S5: if you want a push bike, come see me.
- 3:12S6: Wow, that's really loud.
- 3:15S7: Yeah, thanks. Took the restrictor plate off. Give the Red
- 3:18S7: Dragon a little more juice. But, uh, let's keep that
- 3:21S7: on the down low. She's not exactly street legal.
- 3:24S8: Oh my gosh.
- 3:25S1: They're not exactly street legal. Did you hear him, though?
- 3:28S1: Hitting him up. And he's like, yeah, man. 6570 clicks
- 3:31S1: on this. What? They're trying to book him. He's saying
- 3:35S1: all the wrong stuff.
- 3:36S2: In a 50 zone. Yeah.
- 3:39S1: He's my boots. His brakes. Asking for his brakes. His
- 3:42S1: rear tires. Completely bald because he's been lightened up. Drifting out.
- 3:46S2: I like the fact that's just the Kiwi number eight
- 3:48S2: wired attitude. You know something that's not exactly street legal.
- 3:52S2: I just was watching these guys that have converted, um,
- 3:56S2: right on lawnmowers into off road camping tractors. And so
- 4:00S2: they basically they take the they jack up a lawn mower,
- 4:03S2: take the cutting blade off underneath it, and they just
- 4:05S2: drive it off out into the bush and they go,
- 4:07S2: there's like 20 of them on these jacked up John Deere.
- 4:10S2: And so it's pretty.
- 4:10S1: I love it I love it. If you would like
- 4:13S1: to participate and keep it on the down low, it's
- 4:16S1: not exactly street legal. What have you built? 3520.
- 4:21S2: We'll put the spark plugs on the exhaust so I
- 4:23S2: can blow flames out the ass of my car. And exactly.
- 4:26S2: Street legal.
- 4:28S1: Three five. Two zero. The text number, uh. And next
- 4:32S1: is promise. If you like. My job sucks. I've got
- 4:37S1: no money. Maybe go to Antarctica for six months. There's
- 4:40S1: a whole bunch of jobs that have just come up
- 4:41S1: for grabs. Could be an option for you. The response
- 4:44S1: in guns N roses on the way. Here's muse, hysteria,
- 4:47S1: Rock drive.
- 4:48S3: The Rock drive podcast.
- 4:50S1: It's the response where do you run to? It is
- 4:52S1: Rock drive on the Rock with your old mates Shane Dunk.
- 4:55S1: So if you're sitting here and you'd be like, And
- 4:57S1: you're thinking to yourself, I cannot do another day at
- 5:00S1: this cruddy workplace I want out. You may have a
- 5:05S1: particular set of skills that lines up with one of
- 5:08S1: these jobs. That's just come up for heading off to Antarctica.
- 5:11S2: Yeah, this is pretty hotly contested jobs. Only 40 roles
- 5:14S2: available to basically head to Antarctica and do the summer work.
- 5:19S2: So they've got the summer period and then the winter period.
- 5:21S2: So the summer period itself is pretty, pretty gnarly. So
- 5:26S2: basically they're going from pretty sure it's like September through
- 5:30S2: to the end of February. And then there's a real
- 5:33S2: skeleton staff of 13 people that stay on for the
- 5:35S2: other months.
- 5:37S1: That'd be so rough being there over winter.
- 5:39S2: Yeah. Ah, yeah. In the summer period, it's just like
- 5:41S2: the whole time. And so winter, it's predominantly dark the
- 5:45S2: whole time.
- 5:46S1: So you're gonna need to pack a hell of an
- 5:47S1: eye mask.
- 5:48S2: Yeah.
- 5:48S1: Going over summer. You need a.
- 5:51S2: Guy if you want an eye mask dunk. As an
- 5:54S2: eye mask guy.
- 5:55S1: So recently, Believe it or not, I purchased an eye
- 5:57S1: mask on Temu and it was like a 3D printed one.
- 6:00S1: It was like the mega eye mask, just the. I've
- 6:03S1: been using it for about a month and the inside's
- 6:05S1: come off already, so don't get your eye mask from Temu. Don't.
- 6:07S1: There's a trick for young players.
- 6:09S2: I just, you know, when it comes to anything, pretty much.
- 6:12S2: Don't bother getting anything from Temu.
- 6:14S1: Well, you see my jet plane the boys are playing with.
- 6:16S1: Flew that up into the international airspace and gotten a
- 6:20S1: lot of trouble. So what are the jobs?
- 6:23S2: Um, you can take on any of the critical roles
- 6:26S2: that are there, um, and answer the call of being
- 6:29S2: in a career in Antarctica. So they've got people that
- 6:31S2: they need field staff, engineers, um, maintenance workers, carpenters, chefs, mechanics, electricians,
- 6:39S2: medics and technicians to keep Scott base running. Um, so
- 6:43S2: the scientists can basically keep so there's, there's a workforce
- 6:45S2: and then there's a scientific team that are there. Um,
- 6:48S2: and that's what keeps the joint running.
- 6:50S1: Geez. Imagine being the medic. You could go the whole
- 6:52S1: time without having to do anything. Yeah, maybe someone's got
- 6:55S1: a blister or something.
- 6:57S2: Chances are, chances are you probably will run into a
- 7:01S2: couple of a couple of issues, no doubt.
- 7:03S1: Can we set up a keyword, Antarctica and get a
- 7:06S1: bounce back for all the job listings?
- 7:07S2: Should we just put ice to make it easier?
- 7:10S1: Well, I'm relying on people having spellcheck, not punching out
- 7:13S1: on a Nokia. Click click click click click click.
- 7:17S2: Yeah, we'll just say ice icy to 3520. And here's
- 7:21S2: the link where you can check it out. Awesome. Because
- 7:23S2: it's only a short stint. It's basically you apply for it.
- 7:25S2: You get picked up at the end of the year,
- 7:26S2: then you roll through and you come back in Feb.
- 7:28S1: Can we have a little bit of a wallow next
- 7:30S1: in the Black Caps and how they went last night
- 7:31S1: against Sri Lanka?
- 7:34S2: Absolute masterclass.
- 7:37S1: Oh man. We'll have a chat about the last four overs.
- 7:40S1: They went absolutely berserk. It was so good. This is
- 7:43S1: probably the second longest guns N roses song I believe
- 7:47S1: we play November rain rock drive on the Rock.
- 7:51S9: Okay. Let's go.
- 7:54S10: Drive home.
- 7:55S3: Drive.
- 7:56S1: Guns N roses. November. Rain. Rock. Drive. Thursday afternoon. Drunk
- 8:00S1: driving you home? Uh, hats off to the Black Caps.
- 8:03S1: Smash Sri Lanka by 61 runs in Colombo. Defending 168
- 8:07S1: for seven, holding the hosts to just 107 for eight. Um,
- 8:11S1: Mitchell Santner got 47 off 26 and they actually ended
- 8:15S1: up getting, uh, 70 off the last four overs.
- 8:19S2: Full Tonk fist.
- 8:20S1: Yeah, which is crazy. Um, with the ball. Rachin Ravindra
- 8:23S1: ripped through Sri Lanka for four for 27. Matt Henry
- 8:26S1: took two for three off two overs and New Zealand
- 8:29S1: bowled 17 overs of spin to strangle the chase. So
- 8:34S1: outstanding nudge from the boys.
- 8:36S11: First ball of the chase. Oh my goodness. Could they
- 8:40S11: ask for a better start. Country. Phenomenal. Up up pace
- 8:45S11: off from Henry. Gone. And straight away. Had to go.
- 8:50S12: Guy still in the air and stumps are broken.
- 8:56S11: Gone again? He's just flying it up. Gone up. It's
- 9:01S11: gone up. Mitchell. Getting in, getting in big hands safely
- 9:05S11: underneath that river.
- 9:07S1: It's the sort of cut off, weirdly there at the end.
- 9:09S1: Is there a better cricket commentator than Dooley?
- 9:12S2: I love hearing him.
- 9:13S1: He's so good. Dooley and Smitty is just one of
- 9:15S1: the most electric combos.
- 9:17S2: And that was it. That was in Colombo as well,
- 9:20S2: wasn't it? So that would have been tough for the
- 9:22S2: Sri Lankans to eat that up.
- 9:23S1: So the win all but locks in the Black Caps
- 9:25S1: into the T20 World Cup semi-finals. They now face England
- 9:28S1: next in Colombo with top spot and the Super Eights
- 9:32S1: group on the line. So you know that's going to
- 9:35S1: be a tough ask. But, uh, this seems like they
- 9:37S1: might have the team that can do it.
- 9:39S2: We love a short format.
- 9:40S1: Well yeah I mean it's I mean, the the silverware
- 9:43S1: has eluded us many times before, but we will wait
- 9:46S1: with bated breath and, uh, be back in them. Come
- 9:49S1: that game.
- 9:50S3: Coming up with the fellas.
- 9:53S1: Your chance to have Pepsi pour it on for some
- 9:56S1: Jim Beam homegrown praise. All the deets coming up. In
- 9:59S1: the meantime, a quick one. What is the name of
- 10:01S1: the stadium that the NRL games will be played in
- 10:03S1: this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada? We'll have the answer next.
- 10:08S3: Giant dunk.
- 10:09S1: Hello there. If you've just joined us, welcome on in.
- 10:11S1: This is Rock drive. We asked this question before the break.
- 10:14S1: It was a quick one. What is the name of
- 10:16S1: the stadium that the NRL games will be played in
- 10:18S1: this weekend in Las Vegas?
- 10:20S2: Rubber leg in Las Vegas is going to go down
- 10:23S2: at Allegiant Stadium. Big old bit of kit that one.
- 10:26S1: 315 Sunday afternoon, first game and second game around about 530. Me,
- 10:31S1: myself and Jay will be hosting a bit of pod
- 10:33S1: if you want to climb on in there or jumping
- 10:35S1: on the, uh, chat group and stuff as well. Uh,
- 10:37S1: next weekend the Pepsi Pre's could be happening at your
- 10:41S1: place to get geed up for Jim Beam Homegrown. There's
- 10:44S1: gigs galore tomorrow live at the domain, Good Charlotte, highly suspect.
- 10:48S1: Yellow card. You can get amongst tickets on the rock.
- 10:53S1: Here they are, little one rock. Drive on the rock.
- 10:57S3: Like the Santa that you can get the link in
- 10:59S3: the show notes.
- 11:00S1: It's the white stripes. Blue orchid, the rock with Jay
- 11:02S1: and Doug coming up shortly with the latest in rock
- 11:04S1: news and sport. This probably won't be in it, so
- 11:06S1: I will mention it now. Florida Lady sets the record
- 11:09S1: for the oldest competitive pool player heading to a Vegas
- 11:12S1: tournament this weekend at the age of 98. She's going
- 11:16S1: to be massively disappointed when she bumps into all the Australians.
- 11:18S1: They're there for the NRL this weekend. Who are these people?
- 11:23S2: How to level up Vegas? I fill it up with
- 11:26S2: four Australian League supporting clubs.
- 11:28S1: We're actually going to be chatting to a good mate. Curb,
- 11:30S1: friend of the show, does two vlogs podcasts over in Australia. Uh,
- 11:33S1: he's just landed over there and uh, he's keen to
- 11:36S1: have a chat on the radio show tomorrow. He'll be
- 11:38S1: battling over there.
- 11:39S2: Oh, yeah, he hates the heat. And it is warm
- 11:43S2: for a big man.
- 11:44S1: Here to see the job in Antarctica would be.
- 11:48S2: Perfect for him.
- 11:49S1: Perfect.
- 11:49S2: Perfect.
- 11:52S1: So you'll catch up with cube and see what the
- 11:54S1: vibes like on the ground are over there now. Uh,
- 11:58S1: also latest in weather in a couple of moments for you.
- 12:00S1: And nicknamed ninjas. Returning after four.
- 12:04S2: And find out who Kelly Slater wrapped the golf club around.
- 12:07S3: Listen to our other podcast. Not for radio. Wherever you're
- 12:09S3: listening to this one, just search. Not for radio.
- 12:13S1: How are Jane Dunk driving you home if you just
- 12:15S1: joined us? Welcome on in. We're just watching the New
- 12:17S1: Zealand Golf Open on Sky one. I think it is
- 12:20S1: at the moment Jay's like, oh there he is. I
- 12:22S1: was like, who's that? Looked up there? It looked like
- 12:23S1: some sort of farmer with a big beanie on. Then
- 12:26S1: Jay's like Kelly Slater. I was like, oh my gosh.
- 12:29S2: The goat with the glorious George Harper junior as well.
- 12:32S2: What a magnificent man he is.
- 12:34S1: Yeah. Um, pretty cool having him in the country. A
- 12:36S1: reminder you can text podcast to 3520 to hear the
- 12:40S1: entire morning ramble chat with Kelly Slater. He was on
- 12:43S1: the show this morning chatting all things World Surf League
- 12:45S1: and also the New Zealand Open as well.
- 12:47S2: Before six, the four lads that attempted to cross the
- 12:51S2: Atlantic Ocean in a rowboat and it went horribly, horribly,
- 12:55S2: horribly wrong.
- 12:57S1: How long ago was this?
- 12:58S2: Um, probably about ten years ago now. Yeah, right. It
- 13:02S2: is one of the worst things that you'll ever hear.
- 13:04S2: But they made a documentary about it, and it's well
- 13:06S2: worth a watch.
- 13:06S1: And next, some things should not be forgotten. And the
- 13:09S1: great Dargaville toilet fiasco of 2013 is one of those.
- 13:14S1: Just when you thought it had been flushed down the drain,
- 13:18S1: this thing's bubbling back up next. Weezer hash pipe on
- 13:21S1: the rock.
- 13:21S3: Like the sound of that? You can get the link
- 13:23S3: in the show. Notes.
- 13:24S1: Silverchair anthem for the year 2000. It is Rock drive
- 13:27S1: and the Rock. I know you've all been waiting to
- 13:29S1: find out what this is because we're bringing it back
- 13:31S1: to the top. The great Dargaville toilet fiasco of 2013
- 13:36S1: at Blue Dargaville Tidbits. It was a nightmare for the
- 13:39S1: town that weekend. It was actually a whole week, wasn't it,
- 13:42S1: Benny boy?
- 13:42S3: It was five days. Yeah. You know, they say you never.
- 13:45S3: You never have a second chance to make a good
- 13:47S3: first impression. And boy, did I cock this up.
- 13:50S1: So you. Why'd you book an Airbnb there?
- 13:53S3: We didn't. So this was. This was our girlfriend at
- 13:55S3: the time. Um, her friend's boyfriend's family have, like, a
- 13:59S3: house there. Like an old sort of villa on a
- 14:02S3: bit of a farm. Farm area, but a forest, a
- 14:04S3: nice river. And we thought, oh, a bunch of us
- 14:06S3: will go up there in our uni break for five
- 14:08S3: days for a little bit of a getaway. Is he
- 14:10S3: doing someone else's driving? Just punching tins all the way
- 14:12S3: up there. So by the time I got to Dargaville,
- 14:15S3: I was absolutely bursting. So I just go charging into
- 14:19S3: the house first. Went in as soon as they opened
- 14:20S3: the door straight into the loo. One toilet. This is
- 14:23S3: crucial information. I go, I check, I check my like
- 14:28S3: stubby on the on the cistern, start taking a leak
- 14:30S3: and then as if in like slow motion, the bottle
- 14:33S3: starts sliding towards me. It falls. I go to grab it,
- 14:36S3: I miss and it lands in like the front part
- 14:39S3: of the toilet. The toilet bowl. It just smashes a
- 14:42S3: big hole. Just clean out of the front part of
- 14:45S3: the bowl.
- 14:46S1: Like just goes straight through the porcelain.
- 14:48S3: Straight through the porcelain. Just knocks out like a like
- 14:50S3: a plate size like. And immediately I panic and my
- 14:54S3: stupid brain goes flush. So I just, I just flushed
- 14:57S3: immediately and it just floods the bathroom. So now I'm
- 15:01S3: just standing there in like, toilet water and piss, just going, man,
- 15:04S3: what do I do? I don't even know this bloke.
- 15:06S3: Like I have no idea. So I go and tell
- 15:08S3: my missus to tell his girlfriend to tell him they
- 15:11S3: come back in. We tried to fix it with tin foil,
- 15:14S3: which as you as you can imagine, it's not a
- 15:17S3: particularly watertight substance.
- 15:20S1: Clearly you can tell you guys haven't finished uni at
- 15:22S1: this point.
- 15:23S2: But you had finished what was in the tin foil.
- 15:25S3: I'd never actually finished uni, but that's a story for
- 15:27S3: another day.
- 15:29S1: And then. So the question needs to be asked. Easy
- 15:31S1: to find a plumber.
- 15:32S3: No plumbers. Now what we did is I decided to
- 15:35S3: dig a little slit trench out in the garden for everyone,
- 15:37S3: found a sawhorse and I jimmied up a beautiful outdoor abode.
- 15:42S3: I didn't really think about the placement of it though,
- 15:44S3: because it was. It basically turned the kitchen window and
- 15:47S3: the deck into a viewing platform for whoever was using
- 15:50S3: this makeshift trench that I dug. So obviously the girls
- 15:53S3: weren't very stoked about it and neither were the guys.
- 15:55S3: And we're like, oh, we'll stick it out. And then
- 15:57S3: my buddy, um.
- 15:58S1: How many days before you did a poo?
- 16:00S3: Well, immediately on the first day.
- 16:04S1: Panic poo.
- 16:05S3: Evacuate my mate. I will say we'll call him Charles.
- 16:08S1: Because that's his name.
- 16:10S3: He goes, I'm not using this with his viewing platform.
- 16:14S3: I'm going off into nature. So he goes for a
- 16:16S3: little bit of a walk into the forest next to
- 16:18S3: the beach, and he's where he goes. I don't want
- 16:20S3: to crap on my pants and on my shoes. So
- 16:22S3: he takes them completely off and he's wearing a real
- 16:24S3: baggy t shirt and he goes, man, I don't want it.
- 16:26S3: Like dripping down the back either. So he takes the
- 16:28S3: t shirt off. Little did he know, there was a
- 16:31S3: popular walking track.
- 16:32S1: Through through.
- 16:34S3: The back of the forest there. So he's just this lanky,
- 16:38S3: gangly teenage dude, completely naked with his clothes hung in
- 16:42S3: a tree, just taking a shit off the side of
- 16:45S3: a popular walking track. I don't know who was more
- 16:48S3: surprised that international tourists, or Charles, as they come round
- 16:52S3: the corner and just find him squatting there.
- 16:54S2: Kicking one out in the bush?
- 16:56S3: Ah, yeah. So you won't be surprised to know I
- 16:59S3: was never invited back to that batch.
- 17:00S1: Well, yeah, that's zero parts surprising. The the real trick
- 17:05S1: to a nature poo, though, is to hang off the
- 17:08S1: tree so you have an arm out on the trunk
- 17:10S1: and lean back. That way you can get it away
- 17:13S1: from the trousers of your undies. You know you don't
- 17:15S1: want it, like you say, kicking back underneath.
- 17:17S2: I do find, though, that it makes your butt cheeks
- 17:19S2: clench quite a bit when you're leaning back though, so
- 17:21S2: you just start smacking out brown lasagna sheets just like
- 17:25S2: a big white bag. White.
- 17:27S1: Okay, okay.
- 17:30S3: Started out as a nice broken toilet story. J.
- 17:35S1: Uh, let's just round this out to everyone, we'll call it. Um,
- 17:40S1: have you stayed at an Airbnb Booker batch?
- 17:43S2: Yeah.
- 17:43S1: And what got ruined?
- 17:46S3: What have you busted up?
- 17:48S2: I've got a cracking high heel through a through a
- 17:51S2: TV after the break for you.
- 17:54S1: I'll do one better, mate. I'll play some music and
- 17:55S1: we won't have a break, eh? Jeez, I'm a nice guy.
- 18:00S1: These guys out on the road again this weekend. Oh, yeah.
- 18:02S1: You can text us three five, two zero. You can
- 18:04S1: call us as well. And bonus points as well, if
- 18:08S1: you can beat Benny boys 20s on the property before
- 18:11S1: he blew the toilet out. Blind spot. Coming home on
- 18:15S1: the rock. Every day's a Saturday. This rock drive on
- 18:23S1: the rock. J's having a good old giggle. Uh, so
- 18:26S1: Benny Boy managed to drop a beer bottle through, um,
- 18:29S1: what essentially was an Airbnb, uh, toilet. And then they
- 18:33S1: were all pooing in a ditch on the front lawn
- 18:37S1: for the whole week because he buggered the toilet. On
- 18:39S1: day one. Couldn't get a plumber out to fix it.
- 18:42S1: So pretty hard to beat. He'd been in the house. 20s.
- 18:46S2: Yeah.
- 18:46S1: And he'd done himself a real mischief, and everyone else
- 18:49S1: had to deal with it. But have you had a
- 18:51S1: similar sort of situation? Go down a piece of accommodation
- 18:55S1: that you're renting. You can text us 3520. I don't
- 18:58S1: know who would want to be an Airbnb landlord or
- 19:01S1: a landlord.
- 19:02S2: Yeah. Um, we.
- 19:03S1: People like Jay floating around.
- 19:05S2: Yeah. This is probably a little closer to home. We
- 19:07S2: had a health and wellness weekend where we were predominantly
- 19:10S2: just having green smoothies, and one of the boys, um,
- 19:12S2: came tearing around the corner on a kids quad bike
- 19:14S2: and jumped it over a fire. And we said to him,
- 19:17S2: we said, wow, where'd you get that from? And he goes,
- 19:20S2: ash has smashed the door into the garage and found it.
- 19:23S1: Oh, no. All right. When I was about 22, we
- 19:28S1: went to our family beach, which is now in Boca. Mhm. Um,
- 19:31S1: went to there and I had a whole bunch of
- 19:34S1: my mates come over for New Year's to the beach,
- 19:35S1: and for whatever reason, it was empty at that time
- 19:37S1: for that year. And I came out halfway through New
- 19:41S1: Year's Eve and saw about 20 people on the front
- 19:45S1: deck jumping up and down. And second story. I'm like,
- 19:48S1: what are you doing? My granddad built this in the 70s.
- 19:51S1: You're gonna go straight through it. He was like, he
- 19:53S1: wasn't even a proper builder. He was only okay at things.
- 19:57S1: That's why the doors don't close properly.
- 19:59S2: This one here from Marty. We had a 30 year
- 20:01S2: anniversary work trip to Rarotonga. Me and the wife woke
- 20:04S2: up in the morning to absolute carnage in our room.
- 20:06S2: It looked like a scene out of the Hangover. The
- 20:08S2: couch is broken. The light was broken, the ceiling fan
- 20:11S2: was broken. Beer bottles everywhere, wine bottles and the creek.
- 20:15S2: And the boss was asleep on the veranda. He smashed
- 20:17S2: the place to bits.
- 20:18S1: Oh no. That's like that one with the lads on
- 20:20S1: the stag do in Thailand. And there's the monkey. They
- 20:23S1: wake up and there's a monkey monkey in their room,
- 20:26S1: and it's like hanging off the fan, going round in circles,
- 20:29S1: making heaps of noise. They wake up and they're like,
- 20:31S1: what is that, man?
- 20:32S2: Another one here slid down the stairs and our suitcases
- 20:35S2: managed to put a hole in the wall at the
- 20:37S2: end of the stairs. Found an A4 sheet of paper
- 20:40S2: and some wall paint under the house, but the A4
- 20:43S2: piece of paper over the hole whacked it with the
- 20:44S2: Bunnings mini roller. Bob's your aunties, Nana.
- 20:47S1: Oh my gosh.
- 20:48S2: Another one here. Only soba made it a stag do.
- 20:51S2: Found the owner's lawn mower and mowed a cricket pitch
- 20:53S2: into their brand spanking new lawn while we all chewed
- 20:56S2: on a bit of cardboard.
- 20:58S1: There you.
- 20:58S2: Go. It's a big old weekend.
- 21:00S1: Just a little bit annoyed at myself, I realized we
- 21:02S1: could have called the segment, broke a batch.
- 21:06S2: Wasn't. Oh well, wasn't me, but a mate was trying
- 21:13S2: to heat up some food with nothing even on the plate.
- 21:15S2: He put in for 30 minutes instead of three and
- 21:18S2: exploded in the microwave.
- 21:19S1: Oh, that'll do it. You're not supposed to do that
- 21:21S1: with them, are, you know, put your.
- 21:23S2: Food on it first, you nincompoop.
- 21:25S1: Nincompoop!
- 21:28S13: Get that link in the show. Notes.
- 21:30S1: Deftones. Infinite Source. It is the rocket chain dunk. So
- 21:35S1: I thought I'd just play this to you because you
- 21:37S1: know how your algorithms change, and sometimes you're like, oh,
- 21:41S1: it knows me so well. And other times you're like,
- 21:43S1: that's a miss. Good luck serving that up to me
- 21:45S1: another 20 times. That's a waste of money.
- 21:47S2: I just got served up a hungover chicken sandwich by
- 21:51S2: Al Brown.
- 21:51S1: When's it getting delivered?
- 21:53S2: I'm gonna make one right now. I'm not even hungover.
- 21:56S2: I just want to get drunk.
- 21:57S1: So before. Before. Makes me want to start at the start.
- 22:02S1: So before, like before I play this, I just want
- 22:06S1: to say, hey, this is an outrageous ad. I haven't
- 22:09S1: heard an ad like this. And B, don't worry about
- 22:12S1: my marriage. It's fine. If anything, I'm tired from so much,
- 22:16S1: it'll make sense in a second.
- 22:17S14: Sexless marriages have one thing in common a man who
- 22:21S14: grew up being a nice guy. There's a version of
- 22:24S14: marriage nobody warns you about. The one where you live
- 22:28S14: in the same house, raised the same kids, share the
- 22:31S14: same bed and feel completely alone. She's not cruel. She's
- 22:34S14: not cheating.
- 22:35S15: She just what is this?
- 22:37S14: A square between the mortgage and the school pickups. You
- 22:40S14: became a co-parent, a provider, a task sharing partner, but
- 22:44S14: not a man she desires. You can't remember.
- 22:47S15: She doesn't desire you anymore.
- 22:49S2: I'm reading between the lines here. I'm actually listening to
- 22:51S2: what he's saying.
- 22:52S14: The last time.
- 22:54S15: Was absolute bollocks.
- 22:57S1: Yeah.
- 22:58S2: Well, we're just saying before.
- 22:59S1: That singing at.
- 23:00S2: Our algorithms. Dumb AI singing yet as well, by the way.
- 23:03S2: But we were just talking about before how our algorithms
- 23:07S2: are in sync. Definitely don't have that one in mind.
- 23:09S2: What have you been searching?
- 23:11S1: I've just got teeth whitening pop up to whiten my teeth.
- 23:14S2: Yeah, pretty white on the deluxe colour chart. Slightly closer
- 23:17S2: to a fish and chip chip?
- 23:22S1: Well, they look like a packet of cigarettes telling you
- 23:24S1: not to smoke them, so probably could do the weed
- 23:26S1: tickle up. And I've got mattresses popping up and fold
- 23:31S1: out couches. That's basically what I served at the moment.
- 23:33S2: Yeah, it's one of those really confronting things. I didn't
- 23:36S2: even think about it. But if you just hit on
- 23:38S2: Instagram in particular, if you hit the search button and
- 23:41S2: it's your explore, it shows what you've been looking at.
- 23:44S2: Does it? Yeah. It basically shows what you've been in,
- 23:46S2: what your algorithm would be. So if you hit it,
- 23:49S2: mine's currently a guy. Have a look at yours.
- 23:52S1: Oh man. Some stuff about Dan Hooker a bunch of
- 23:55S1: vegetables yelling into a screen telling you why they're good.
- 23:59S1: Uh ChatGPT was asked how to live to 140, and
- 24:02S1: the answer was simple, logical, and totally surprising.
- 24:06S2: Uh, mine's showing tugboats pushing boats into walls. Um, cheap,
- 24:10S2: cheap tattoos. A guy getting his head kicked in, um,
- 24:13S2: Sean Strickland, uh, the rock kissing some chick who's super,
- 24:17S2: super black. But I think that might be AI.
- 24:19S1: And I've got a Milwaukee thong as an a G banger.
- 24:26S1: That's an interesting one.
- 24:27S2: Just a couple of losers, you know.
- 24:30S1: Well, everyone already knew that. I think people listening to
- 24:32S1: us make themselves feel better, right? And we do a
- 24:35S1: very good job at it. Uh, so just be aware
- 24:38S1: of that, guys.
- 24:38S2: Just be aware of if you're searching up different parts,
- 24:42S2: you know, to stimulate different bits of your body all
- 24:44S2: the time and various different pictures of women.
- 24:47S1: You'll just get like an AI song singing about a flashlight.
- 24:51S13: Coming up next.
- 24:53S2: Yeah.
- 24:53S1: It's that little buddy brain. Guys wouldn't mind trying one
- 24:56S1: of those one day, but I'm not a sicko. Here's
- 24:57S1: your quick one. The answer on the other side of
- 24:59S1: the break. What is the record for rowing across the Atlantic?
- 25:02S1: And then a bit of a deep dive on these
- 25:04S1: fellas as well. We'll have the answer in a couple
- 25:06S1: of moments. And also I am giant. And the pumpkins
- 25:10S1: as well.
- 25:10S13: Like the sauna there. You can get the link in
- 25:12S13: the show notes.
- 25:13S1: Hello there. If you've just joined us. We asked this
- 25:15S1: question before the break. It was our quick one. What
- 25:16S1: is the record for rowing across the Atlantic?
- 25:19S2: These are crazy. The fastest it's ever been done is
- 25:21S2: 29 days, 14 hours and 34 minutes. Wild. Uh, that
- 25:25S2: was set by the four man crew. The four oarsmen
- 25:28S2: back in 2018 are fastest female pair 38 days and
- 25:33S2: fastest solo female 40 days 21 hours.
- 25:36S1: Wow.
- 25:37S2: They're basically rowing from La Gomera to Antigua.
- 25:41S1: I don't know where both of those places are, but
- 25:43S1: it sounds like a long way apart.
- 25:47S2: Sounds like a month apart on a rowboat.
- 25:51S16: Like a blind man at an orgy. I was going
- 25:53S16: to have to feel things out.
- 25:54S10: Jay and Doug's drive home. Rock drive.
- 25:58S1: Lenny the Eagle. Kravitz. Paralyzed. Eight after four. Drunk driving
- 26:02S1: you home on the Rock. Quick! Well done to the
- 26:05S1: 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees The Black Crowes,
- 26:09S1: Billy Idol, Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Oasis. Let's get into it.
- 26:13S1: Nicknamed ninjas.
- 26:22S17: Forgiveness, please. Nickname. ninjas.
- 26:26S1: You guys have a particular set of skills and you
- 26:28S1: know how to use them. Here's the scenario. So there's
- 26:31S1: a guy at work turns up every day, but he's
- 26:33S1: an odd one, complains about anything and everything, but he
- 26:35S1: comes in with all these weird scenarios like, would you
- 26:38S1: rather slap a ball in the backside or sleep with
- 26:40S1: a monkey? Or tells us the difference, uh, the different
- 26:43S1: types of cows. And then there's, uh, I'll give you
- 26:45S1: $50 to ride that sheep. He's easily offended, but he
- 26:48S1: can't take it. It takes everything to heart. Please help.
- 26:53S2: Some help in the form of Barry Holden's suggestion. His
- 26:55S2: nickname should be slinky. Not much use, but would put
- 26:59S2: one hell of a smile on your face, pushing him
- 27:00S2: down a set of stairs.
- 27:04S1: I'll back it up with this one. Quinn Johnson. What
- 27:06S1: about dildo? He can give it, but can't take it.
- 27:12S2: Gordon Murray, one ply toilet paper. Can't handle shit.
- 27:18S1: He's the waxy sort. That weird square stuff. Hey, uh,
- 27:21S1: that's from Ritchie Moon, the Bad Waiter, always dishing it
- 27:24S1: out but never takes it back.
- 27:27S2: Uh, Greg Tucker suggested prunes. Okay, in small doses, but
- 27:31S2: bound to give you the shits.
- 27:33S1: That's from Nathan Rasmussen. Tony. Just because he reminds me
- 27:37S1: of a guy I used to work with called Tony.
- 27:40S1: That's from Damien Henly. The glove box full of crap.
- 27:42S1: You can't shut him up. Peter Mitchell, Nimbus. The type
- 27:46S1: of cloud. It's always a better day once he disappears.
- 27:49S2: There's one here from Kody Hendra. The Turkish delight. Always there,
- 27:53S2: but no one likes them. Uh, Barry Holden, the Mona Lisa,
- 28:01S2: the Mona Lisa. Uh, Curtis beard, the appendix. No idea
- 28:06S2: what he does or what he's doing, but we'd prefer
- 28:07S2: to have him out.
- 28:10S1: That's from Chris Morton. The politician talks bollocks, gives stick,
- 28:13S1: and is easily offended when he receives it back. And
- 28:16S1: Brian Haddock splinter. Irritating prick that gets under your skin.
- 28:20S2: Great stuff. Those were spectacular.
- 28:22S1: You got options. I couldn't help but notice that you
- 28:25S1: sent that through in the Sniper's Nightmare Facebook page. Anonymous.
- 28:28S2: Yeah.
- 28:29S1: So. Anonymous. You have options.
- 28:31S2: Someone just put in from anonymous. Call him Jay Cartwright. Clearly, clearly,
- 28:37S2: clearly someone who's exactly the same that they work with.
- 28:42S1: Hey, mate, would you rather slap a ball on the
- 28:44S1: backside or sleep with a monkey?
- 28:46S2: Late edition from Ethan Clark. Is it too early? Why
- 28:50S2: don't you call him Steve Irwin? Takes everything to the heart.
- 28:55S1: Too soon. Too soon? Nah, I'm not okay with that.
- 28:58S2: Name, neither.
- 28:59S1: I wish you had a filter.
- 29:01S2: Me neither. What? Yes.
- 29:04S13: Like the sound of that. You can get the link
- 29:06S13: in the show notes.
- 29:09S1: Pearl Jam Record's rock drive in the Rock Thursday afternoon. Uh,
- 29:13S1: the award winning Morning Rumble had Kelly Slater on the
- 29:17S1: show this morning. He's over for the New Zealand Golf Open,
- 29:20S1: which is exciting happening out of Millbrook and Queenstown. Is it?
- 29:23S2: Yep. Yep. They're going to be, um, there's quite a
- 29:25S2: lot of golf actually happening over the, the next week,
- 29:27S2: a lot of tournaments in and around the courses. And he,
- 29:30S2: I think covers it off in this chat that he
- 29:31S2: had with him the most probably expensive round of golf
- 29:34S2: that you can have in New Zealand.
- 29:35S11: New Zealand Golf.
- 29:36S3: Open is on this weekend, the Pro-Am as well. The
- 29:39S3: 11 I mean he's a he's an amazing golfer but
- 29:42S3: just the world's greatest surfer Kelly Slater good morning. The
- 29:46S3: goats welcome the Kelly Slater bro.
- 29:49S2: Welcome to.
- 29:50S3: The Rumble.
- 29:50S18: That was a huge golf clap right there.
- 29:52S3: Thanks guys. I know, uh, so you're the world's greatest surfer. Um,
- 29:56S3: and you're a scratch golfer. So when did you start golf?
- 29:59S18: Uh, gosh, I've been golfing for 30 years now.
- 30:03S3: So all around the sort of the same time you
- 30:04S3: were the world's greatest surfer?
- 30:06S18: I was, I, I started playing when I was about 23.
- 30:10S18: So I'd been 3 or 4 years into competing full
- 30:13S18: time as a pro on the tour, but I found
- 30:17S18: golf and got really addicted to it. It kind of
- 30:19S18: took away from my surf time a little bit, but
- 30:20S18: it actually sort of helped improve my mental game competitively.
- 30:24S18: Why so?
- 30:24S19: Just because it is such a punishing game mentally?
- 30:27S18: Yeah, because you just start hating yourself and you find
- 30:30S18: some deep rooted issues and you get rid of them.
- 30:34S3: Uh.
- 30:35S19: Kelly Slater is with us on the show new Zealand
- 30:37S19: Golf Open happening this weekend. Now, you're not a stranger
- 30:39S19: to New Zealand and golf. Uh, I've been lucky enough
- 30:42S19: to be invited, and I've played at, um, a couple
- 30:45S19: of times, which is New Zealand's number one golf course.
- 30:48S19: Got to be invited to play there or be a member.
- 30:50S19: You've played there with a friend of ours, Israel Adesanya,
- 30:53S19: the last stylebender. How does he go golf? How did
- 30:56S19: those rounds go? And how much have you played here?
- 30:58S18: Uh, the. We had one round together. We played at, uh, tiara, and, uh,
- 31:03S18: it was fun. His brother came and a couple friends.
- 31:06S18: We had a good time. Um, he he loves his golf.
- 31:09S18: Pretty funny. You know, maybe. Maybe you wouldn't think a
- 31:12S18: surf would love golf. Maybe you wouldn't think a fighter
- 31:13S18: would love golf. But, you know, there's just some burning
- 31:16S18: desire there to improve the technique that that resides within us.
- 31:21S18: But as far as it goes, I just love it.
- 31:24S18: Rick Kane, who's the founder of the club, uh, we
- 31:28S18: became friends about close to ten years ago, and he's
- 31:30S18: invited me to play as a member, guest tournaments with him.
- 31:33S18: And I've become really close friends with my buddy Reuben,
- 31:35S18: who's a caddie up there, and he surfs the area. And, uh,
- 31:38S18: so I really enjoy getting back there now.
- 31:41S20: Kelly, it smells here. The cells coming to to Raglan
- 31:45S20: when you were at the top of your game, how
- 31:47S20: often did you come to New Zealand to surf? Obviously competitively. Uh,
- 31:52S20: not that often, but what are your memories of surfing
- 31:54S20: New Zealand, and did you just turn up at breaks
- 31:56S20: and people go, bro, are you Kelly Slater?
- 32:00S18: I actually don't have much surf history in New Zealand. Uh,
- 32:03S18: I have probably more golf history. We've never had a
- 32:05S18: World Tour event. We've had qualifying series events, um, like
- 32:09S18: just smaller events, but never had a full fledged world
- 32:13S18: tour event in, in New Zealand until now. so that'll
- 32:16S18: be great. Billy Stairmand got, uh, you know, your New
- 32:20S18: Zealand boy got the, uh, wild card. And I think
- 32:22S18: there's one more up for grabs for someone through a
- 32:25S18: trials of some sort, so that'll be super exciting. Obviously,
- 32:28S18: Raglan's sort of the premier. Name when you when you
- 32:30S18: hear about surfing in New Zealand. So it should be
- 32:33S18: a really great event. I imagine the crowds will turn
- 32:35S18: up pretty huge. Hopefully you get some really great surf.
- 32:38S18: It's a good time of year for it.
- 32:40S1: I cannot wait for that. Yeah, I've already booked my accommodation.
- 32:43S1: I'll be down there. It's also the weekend of my birthday.
- 32:46S2: Yeah. What a treat you are in for.
- 32:48S1: I haven't seen you since I was 14, but I'm
- 32:50S1: here for it.
- 32:51S2: Yeah, mate, there'll be no space in the lineup at all. Um,
- 32:54S2: they didn't touch on it. Or maybe they did in the.
- 32:56S1: Hang on. Did you think I wanted to go down
- 32:58S1: there to surf?
- 33:00S2: I thought you might have been giving it a crack
- 33:02S2: for the first time.
- 33:02S1: Excuse me. Kelly. Locals only.
- 33:05S2: Hey, guys.
- 33:05S1: Do you mind if I grab this one on my
- 33:06S1: boogie board? Hey, it's more the fact that I haven't
- 33:09S1: paid much attention to it over the straight hander.
- 33:12S2: Um, but he, um, they didn't touch on it in
- 33:14S2: the chat there, but, uh, Kelly Slater and Izzy Dag, uh,
- 33:18S2: basically played six holes on six different courses, and they
- 33:21S2: got there, and the the golf cart was a helicopter, including, uh,
- 33:25S2: the new golf course at Glendhu Bay. Um, which is incredible. Um,
- 33:30S2: which Derby's old man owns? Well.
- 33:32S1: On Lake. Warner Lake. Wanaka.
- 33:34S2: Yeah. Impressive. Like such an insane setup.
- 33:37S1: That's cool man. Uh, next placemakers Total Recall. Uh, your
- 33:41S1: chance went up to $500 in placemakers vouchers. If you'd
- 33:45S1: like to play. Oh, eight handed rock foam. We'll explain
- 33:48S1: all and get you on after this.
- 33:49S13: After was 90.2 Auckland.
- 33:53S10: The rocks Jay and dunk.
- 33:54S13: The rock drive.
- 33:57S1: Hello there. If you just joined us we asked this
- 33:59S1: question before the break. It was our quick one. How
- 34:01S1: many eggs does a praying mantis lay?
- 34:03S2: Uh praying mantis female praying mantis can spit out anywhere
- 34:06S2: between 50 and 400 eggs at one time, encased in
- 34:10S2: a hardened foam structure called an theca.
- 34:13S1: That's too many. I don't think the world would be like, oh,
- 34:18S1: there's no more praying mantises, are they?
- 34:20S2: They also eat the male after banging the May.
- 34:22S1: Oh, yeah, I heard they eat 2 or 3 if
- 34:24S1: they've had a real good go on the malnourished.
- 34:28S2: Imagine Bonny Blue was a praying mantis. Should we chock
- 34:31S2: a block?
- 34:32S1: Let's not give a chance to win big with picnics.
- 34:36S1: Foo fighters tickets on sale for Auckland and Christchurch. As
- 34:39S1: of now on the NZ generator on the Rock.
- 34:44S13: Listen to our other podcast not for radio. Wherever you're
- 34:46S13: listening to this one, just search. Not for radio.
- 34:49S1: The Black Keys, Eagle Birds, Rock drive with your old
- 34:53S1: mates Shandong Thursday afternoon. How do we get to hear
- 34:56S1: now this coming weekend? It feels like we've had preseason
- 34:59S1: games for weeks on end. Well, we actually have. But
- 35:02S1: the NRL kicks off and Vegas, which is awesome. Allegiant
- 35:05S1: Stadium and there is a couple of games. 315 Sunday
- 35:10S1: afternoon sees the, um, Newcastle Knights take on the Queensland
- 35:14S1: Cowboys and then after that you've got Saint George taking on, uh,
- 35:18S1: the Bulldogs. And I said this earlier and the odds
- 35:21S1: have actually come down, but, uh, I reckon it's just
- 35:24S1: the Cowboys are going to get up over the Knights
- 35:26S1: and paying $1.55. And if you couple that up, this
- 35:29S1: is the bit that I'm sort of same game multi
- 35:31S1: looking at. And we are hosting a pot on um
- 35:34S1: Sunday afternoon for this J.
- 35:36S2: Yes. Reminder I'll be there. Just not physically. Probably not
- 35:40S2: mentally either but I'll be there.
- 35:41S1: Your body will be there. I'll be doing the work.
- 35:44S1: That's okay because I'm used to that.
- 35:45S2: Yeah. Um, we're keeping we're consistent with our approach.
- 35:49S1: The Knights have lost their last five games. Cowboys have
- 35:51S1: won two of the last three. Their last one was
- 35:53S1: a loss though. And then so we have a look
- 35:56S1: at the top like the favorite try anytime try scorer
- 35:59S1: Murray Toolangi. Yeah it's meant to be mate. My son's
- 36:03S1: name is Muzz as well. Um get him in there.
- 36:05S1: And so that's paying like 270 or something like that
- 36:08S1: for a same game multi Happy days, I reckon.
- 36:11S2: This isn't a bad one, Dominic. Young Scott Drinkwater and
- 36:14S2: Tom Dearden. End times, all of them. 1824.
- 36:18S1: Yeah, I'm going off the bulk. Any time. Try scorers.
- 36:21S2: But that's like this is one. Here's another, here's another.
- 36:24S2: This is out of the bit social part. So these
- 36:26S2: are the popular ones. So basically this is a five
- 36:28S2: legger that 414 other people have punted on. Fletcher sharp
- 36:33S2: any time Greg Mazure any time Jackson. Purdue. Any time. Murray. Toolangi.
- 36:37S2: Any time. Tommy Dearden. Any time.
- 36:39S1: One 1518 yeah, but then you go, you basically could
- 36:42S1: be picking every try scorer in the game.
- 36:45S2: Yeah.
- 36:46S1: That's tricky.
- 36:47S2: It's been done.
- 36:48S1: Not that many times. Anyway, these are the arguments myself
- 36:51S1: and Jay will have in the hour lead up to
- 36:53S1: spin in the Rockpile.
- 36:54S2: Yeah, because I like to go these monstrous Maltese, um,
- 36:58S2: and dunk's a bit more. Just make money, you know?
- 37:00S1: Do you know what, though? Jay will hit one and win, like,
- 37:02S1: 30 grand one time, and I'll just never hear the
- 37:05S1: end of it. Yeah, yeah, never.
- 37:07S2: 26 is as the year of the 26 league multi.
- 37:11S2: You watch this space.
- 37:13S1: Can you even get a 26 league multi on the
- 37:16S1: same game.
- 37:17S2: No not on the same game. I'm going to put
- 37:19S2: it across everything. I'll be doing hamster racing all the
- 37:21S2: way through to inline figure skating.
- 37:24S1: So we've got a $50 bet bonus bet for you
- 37:26S1: to win right now. And also food delivery for Sunday afternoon. Uh,
- 37:30S1: for the opening weekend of the NRL, you can tick
- 37:33S1: ticks to three, 5 to 0. That will put you
- 37:37S1: in the draw. Make sure you put your first and
- 37:38S1: last name because we're going to announce the winner. And
- 37:40S1: a couple of moments, uh, also heads up as well.
- 37:43S1: If you place a $10 or more bet on both
- 37:46S1: NRL Vegas games, you can score $20 in bonus cash
- 37:50S1: that is officially live now. Um, and new customers as well.
- 37:53S1: Score $100 bonus cash when you sign up and deposit
- 37:56S1: 50 bucks or more.
- 37:57S2: Ah, I didn't even know this. This is once again
- 38:00S2: in the Bet social, um, part of it. So they've
- 38:02S2: got markets popular. And then for you as same game multi.
- 38:06S2: So you can go up to ten bucks for your
- 38:08S2: same game. Multi 10 to 20 gives you all the odds.
- 38:11S2: 20 to 50 and then 50 plus. So you hit
- 38:14S2: on whichever tab you want. It gives you all of
- 38:15S2: the betting options there. That's cool. Very cool.
- 38:18S1: They keep making that app better and better don't they
- 38:20S1: obviously are 18 punt responsibly uh get texting you to 3520.
- 38:24S1: Give us four minutes and we'll be back with the
- 38:26S1: winner after the offspring.
- 38:28S21: He speaks the bullshit.
- 38:30S10: Jay and dunk.
- 38:31S13: The rock. Drive.
- 38:33S1: The offspring self esteem and his rock driving the rock G.
- 38:37S1: I hope that camera in there is capturing Benny Boy,
- 38:39S1: trying to drag that wire out of the back of
- 38:41S1: the desk there. They look like hard work, bro. Yeah,
- 38:47S1: it looks luggage. If you're new to the show, Benny
- 38:50S1: Boy is our executive producer. The replacement of show boss Tiggs,
- 38:53S1: who went to Walkinshaw Racing Supercars team.
- 38:57S2: And she's loving every second of it at the moment,
- 38:58S2: which is great. And I think she quickly realized how
- 39:01S2: much work goes into packing out of a Supercars event, Mhm.
- 39:05S2: Particularly when you normally get three hours and you get
- 39:07S2: an hour and a half.
- 39:08S1: They got the Monday off after the racing so it's
- 39:10S1: quite good. So they're in Melbourne next weekend. Yeah. And
- 39:12S1: then a couple of weeks later in Taupo.
- 39:14S2: Which in it's like Melbourne coincides with the formula one.
- 39:17S2: So it's just sick.
- 39:18S1: Crazy. You've done that.
- 39:19S2: Yeah. It's it's one of the greatest weekends around.
- 39:22S1: I haven't done that. I need to do that.
- 39:23S2: Yeah. It's particularly if you get some real you get
- 39:27S2: some real good individuals together and you get a really
- 39:29S2: cruisey number on a corporate gift, you know, corporate sort
- 39:32S2: of hosting suite setup.
- 39:34S1: Well, that'd be the way to do it. That would
- 39:35S1: be way everyone would do it if they could.
- 39:37S2: Red bull, I know you're listening. Send this over.
- 39:40S1: Oh, yeah.
- 39:41S2: Let's take a team.
- 39:42S1: I look like a Red bull athlete. I look good
- 39:44S1: on all their photos.
- 39:45S2: Yeah.
- 39:46S1: Wouldn't I if I sucked it in a little bit?
- 39:48S1: Not a lot.
- 39:49S2: They might look to be firing somebody out of a cannon.
- 39:50S2: I reckon you would. You'd fit the bill.
- 39:54S1: You're not going to start the race for.
- 39:57S2: Just dunk across the course.
- 40:00S1: Um, now, I also want to get you to go
- 40:04S1: to State of Origin this year. Yeah. Bucket list. So
- 40:06S1: we're doing Bathurst later in the year. That's a special place.
- 40:10S2: Um, those packages are still available to, uh, if you're
- 40:12S2: wanting to go.
- 40:12S1: I've got some left.
- 40:13S2: Yeah, I think there might be a couple left.
- 40:15S1: Alright, well, I'm going to guess because we've talked about
- 40:17S1: it for a couple of weeks at Bathurst A3520. If
- 40:19S1: you want to join me and Jane Bathurst that's going
- 40:21S1: to be awesome. Now back to Beecher and the NRL.
- 40:24S1: First uh, round is this weekend in Vegas. Couple of
- 40:27S1: games from 315 uh, and the afternoon on Sunday. And
- 40:33S1: have we got a winner for the $50 bonus bet?
- 40:35S1: And also a food delivery for Sunday afternoon?
- 40:37S2: We do start rubbing your hands together. Uh, and we
- 40:40S2: wish you all the very best of luck. Brian fogarty. Congratulations,
- 40:43S2: Brian Fogarty. Good on you. So if you, um, if,
- 40:46S2: you know Big Bri unit, swing around his place because
- 40:49S2: he's gonna have some great Tucker during the, um, the
- 40:52S2: during the league on Sunday.
- 40:54S13: Tell us what's next, fellas.
- 40:57S2: Uh, it looks to be the great Dargaville toilet fiasco
- 41:01S2: of 2013 has reared its ugly head again.
- 41:04S1: Headset. Are we going to revisit that? Mhm. That's the
- 41:08S1: story that needs to be told on a Thursday evening.
- 41:11S2: It is indeed.
- 41:11S1: If you're like oh what is that. Well we're going
- 41:13S1: to have it for 5:10.
- 41:15S2: You were given the opportunity to go somewhere nice. And
- 41:17S2: this is the reason why you no longer go anywhere nice.
- 41:20S13: Like the sound of that. You can get the link
- 41:22S13: in the show notes.
- 41:23S22: Oh ho ho ho! He's a working class man.
- 41:28S1: G'day, battlers. Drunk driving you home. Thanks to our mates
- 41:30S1: at Novus Glass. Yeah, Novus, if you've got a chip
- 41:33S1: or crack on your windscreen this summer just calling to
- 41:35S1: your local branch, they'll sort it out for you.
- 41:37S2: We've got some international correspondents for late mail. And also,
- 41:41S2: you know, you've always wanted to hear it. If the
- 41:44S2: Michael Jackson hit song Billie Jean was done as an
- 41:47S2: Irish folk song cover.
- 41:49S1: Oh, man, that's so good.
- 41:51S2: Would you say better than the original?
- 41:54S1: Yep. Didn't even have to think about that for too long.
- 41:57S1: Tom Petty learning to fly the rock with your old mates.
- 42:01S13: Jane the Rock drive podcast.
- 42:09S1: The rainfall. Nothing makes sense. I just want to. Can
- 42:13S1: we just pretend this is, uh, hasn't just happened? Okay. Uh,
- 42:17S1: and so Jay's talking off air during that song, and
- 42:20S1: he's saying to me.
- 42:21S2: Guess how many, um, endemic CKD species there are in
- 42:25S2: New Zealand? Ooh. And because very loud at the moment,
- 42:28S2: very cicada.
- 42:29S1: The boy listening through the glass window there says instantly 42.
- 42:34S2: 42 cicada species in New Zealand. That's why.
- 42:38S1: Pacquiao. How did you know that, Benny boy?
- 42:41S13: I think we've got exactly the same Instagram feed. I
- 42:43S13: saw it last night.
- 42:43S2: Okay. Yeah. Oh, what's happened is, as women become in sync,
- 42:48S2: the three of us have most definitely become in sync.
- 42:50S2: And in terms of our algorithms.
- 42:53S1: That's a concern. Yeah.
- 42:56S2: Which depending on who's got the strongest.
- 42:58S1: Everyone's talking about it. It's just all coming up in
- 43:01S1: your matched algorithm.
- 43:03S2: Well.
- 43:04S1: It's pretty impressive, though.
- 43:05S2: That's amazing.
- 43:06S1: I think I've got all 42 of those species in
- 43:09S1: the bank and behind my house. It's that loud?
- 43:11S2: You probably do. Uh, and then another. My my only
- 43:14S2: other disturbing little bug fact that I've got is that
- 43:17S2: they have discovered a caterpillar. Which is this how this
- 43:21S2: is nature at its absolute best. They've discovered a caterpillar
- 43:25S2: that kills other insects and then sews the insects bodies
- 43:29S2: to his back. So it's like a full, like a
- 43:32S2: full Hannibal Lecter set up.
- 43:34S1: Ooh.
- 43:35S2: Yeah. So it walks around with all of the skeletons
- 43:38S2: of these flies that it eats on its back.
- 43:41S1: That's pretty badass.
- 43:42S2: That's pretty badass.
- 43:43S1: Yeah, you wouldn't mess with them. Uh, and keeping with
- 43:47S1: native species here in New Zealand as well. Jam this
- 43:49S1: one in, too. Before we get to this outrageous AI song. Uh,
- 43:53S1: different cover of, uh, Billie Jean's Michael Jackson's Billie Jean.
- 43:58S1: The kakapo have had a great season of rooting.
- 44:01S2: Yes.
- 44:02S1: Slamming the the berries, getting them. I don't know if
- 44:05S1: they've been getting drunk and frisky or whatever, but. How's this?
- 44:09S1: This is, course, the flightless parrot. Um, only place in
- 44:11S1: the world is here in New Zealand. New Zealand, you
- 44:13S1: get them? They were near extinction ten years ago. There
- 44:16S1: was only 50 left. Now there's like 200. I reckon
- 44:18S1: this is going to be one of the biggest seasons
- 44:20S1: ever for them.
- 44:21S2: Yeah, it gets exponentially better the more they bang.
- 44:24S1: They should do pay per views for that. Oh yes.
- 44:28S1: You were saying before was it? Okay. Moving on here
- 44:31S1: is this air cover. It's ridiculous. This is, uh, what
- 44:35S1: if Michael Jackson's, uh, Billie Jean was an Irish folk song.
- 44:40S23: She was more like a beauty queen from a film scene.
- 44:45S23: I said, don't mind, but what do you mean? I
- 44:50S23: am the voice.
- 44:50S11: Down.
- 44:51S23: Who will dance on the floor in the round. She
- 44:56S23: said I am the one who will dance on the
- 45:00S23: floor in the round.
- 45:05S24: Of mine.
- 45:06S2: Whipping into a thick, creamy pint and having to listen to.
- 45:09S24: That.
- 45:11S23: As she caused a scene. Then every head turned with
- 45:15S23: eyes that dreamed of being the one who would dance
- 45:20S23: on the floor in the round. But Billie Jean is
- 45:27S23: not my lover. Oh my God, oh my God, she's
- 45:31S23: just a girl who claims that I am the one.
- 45:36S23: But the kid is not my son. She says I
- 45:39S23: am very cool.
- 45:42S1: Do you know, um. I forget what website it is,
- 45:45S1: but there's like a, uh. I'm feeling lucky button when
- 45:49S1: you can't make a decision. They need that on Spotify, eh?
- 45:52S2: Yeah.
- 45:52S1: And then it just goes bang. Whacks you some Irish
- 45:55S1: folk music just to mix things up. See the bloody
- 45:58S1: K-pop demon hunters mixed in with tool at the moment?
- 46:02S1: And Yungblud, which is what the kids are into.
- 46:04S2: Yeah, I'm loving a little, loving a little sort of
- 46:07S2: ramshackle runaway on some of those tracks that we've been
- 46:10S2: listening to.
- 46:10S1: Yeah, it's good man. Uh yungbluds. Um, IDLES volume two
- 46:14S1: or whatever it's called. Very good. There's some real good
- 46:16S1: tunes in there. My boys have been absolutely loving it.
- 46:19S1: Give us a couple of moments. Got to be back
- 46:20S1: with all the details. How you can be off to
- 46:24S1: the Daytona 500 Speedway to see Foo Fighters and Guns
- 46:28S1: N roses, and we'll stick with America. The latest proposed
- 46:33S1: USC white House fight card. The strokes last night. Rock
- 46:38S1: drive on the Rock.
- 46:40S13: The Rock drive podcast.
- 46:41S1: Linkin Park up in your bottom. It is rock. Drive
- 46:45S1: on the Rock. And tomorrow is your last chance before
- 46:49S1: 5 p.m. to hear your boarding call. You got to
- 46:51S1: be caller number 12 for Rock the globe 12. Your
- 46:54S1: chance to spend five nights in Florida at the Daytona
- 46:58S1: Speedway and headline acts Foo Fighters, guns N roses. 160
- 47:03S1: plus bands across this bill. And, um, yeah, just one
- 47:07S1: more chance. So we'll make we'll make the draw for that.
- 47:09S1: Like tomorrow night at 5:10 and someone's going.
- 47:13S2: That's a quick turnaround, isn't it?
- 47:15S1: Oh. It's crazy.
- 47:17S2: Um, the UFC, white House. Yes. This is what, like it's.
- 47:20S2: They've announced that, um, Pereira is going to be up
- 47:23S2: against Chimaev, which is going to be a great fight.
- 47:27S1: Not if someone rolls all over the other one.
- 47:29S2: That's what I'm. Yeah, I think that a lot of
- 47:32S2: people will be learning from that last fight that he
- 47:34S2: had and just going, I can't be bothered with the
- 47:36S2: smother fest.
- 47:36S1: Oh, surely Dana won't just be like bra backhand. I'll
- 47:39S1: give you a million bucks if you don't roll all
- 47:40S1: over him. No one wants to see that this is
- 47:42S1: Memorial Weekend.
- 47:43S2: The hope was that Pereira would fight Ciryl Gane and
- 47:47S2: that he would jump up to heavyweight.
- 47:48S1: Oh, yeah, that would have been good.
- 47:49S2: That would be quite sick. Um, the other, uh, the
- 47:51S2: other fights that they reckon will we'll be getting announced
- 47:53S2: a tapuria versus Justin Gaethje.
- 47:56S1: Oh.
- 47:57S2: Which is that one?
- 47:57S1: Yes, yes.
- 47:58S2: Yes, that'll be a monster. Harrison versus Nunez. Um, females. Um,
- 48:03S2: McGregor versus Diaz three.
- 48:06S1: That hasn't been confirmed.
- 48:07S2: No no no no no. But that's what they're wanting.
- 48:09S1: And I would love that.
- 48:10S2: And, uh, Colby Covington versus Paddy Pimblett is another one
- 48:13S2: that they've, um, said would be a possibility.
- 48:16S1: The McGregor Diaz fight would be like a nice nostalgic fight, almost.
- 48:21S1: You'd want to see it, but, you know, it's not
- 48:23S1: going to be at the level of some of those
- 48:24S1: other fights we've had recently. Because I've been out of
- 48:26S1: the game for quite a while.
- 48:28S2: I'd want to see Aspinall versus Jon Jones.
- 48:31S1: What's, um, Nick Diaz? Imagine him fighting McGregor. I would
- 48:35S1: love to see that. He was way better than Nate,
- 48:37S1: but then ended up getting banned from the sport for
- 48:38S1: like six years for smoking weed. Now it's legal in
- 48:41S1: every state.
- 48:41S2: Yeah, that's.
- 48:42S1: Right. He was always the better fighter.
- 48:44S2: Yeah, he was crazy good.
- 48:45S1: Yeah. And also crazy.
- 48:47S2: Yeah.
- 48:48S1: Which was like crazy versus crazy. It would be awesome.
- 48:51S1: What about you? Go. I mean, probably slightly unfair, but
- 48:54S1: it's like, imagine, um, say, Nick does two rounds. Nate
- 48:58S1: does two. Three rounds.
- 49:00S2: Like a a tag team UFC event would be awesome.
- 49:03S1: Conor would be the one to say yes to that.
- 49:05S2: Yeah, yeah, you you two fighters and you basically can
- 49:08S2: tag out if you're, like, about to get choked out,
- 49:10S2: you can tap out.
- 49:13S1: This is why we're not in charge.
- 49:14S2: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:15S1: You can switch.
- 49:15S2: Out. It's just an endless fight.
- 49:17S1: Uh, righto. Give us a couple of moments. Got to
- 49:18S1: be back with late mail. A chance for us to
- 49:20S1: get to some of the stuff we haven't had a
- 49:21S1: chance to get to some correspondents from the UK as well.
- 49:24S1: One of our big UK rock listeners, Danny Carroll. He's
- 49:30S1: a great man. Loves it.
- 49:31S2: Good to have you with us, mate.
- 49:33S1: Grinspoon. Chemical heart on the Rock.
- 49:35S13: How are you? Thanks for listening.
- 49:37S1: Linkin Park up in your bottom. It is rock. Drive
- 49:40S1: on the rock and tomorrow is your last chance before
- 49:44S1: 5 p.m. to hear your boarding call. You got to
- 49:46S1: be caller number 12 for Rock the globe 12. Your
- 49:49S1: chance to spend five nights in Florida at the Daytona
- 49:53S1: Speedway and headline acts Foo Fighters, guns N roses. 160
- 49:58S1: plus bands across this bill. And, um, yeah, just one
- 50:02S1: more chance. So we'll make we'll make the draw for that.
- 50:05S1: Like tomorrow night at 5:10 at May. Someone's going.
- 50:09S2: That's a quick turnaround, isn't it?
- 50:10S1: Oh it's crazy.
- 50:12S2: Um, the UFC, white House.
- 50:13S1: Yes.
- 50:14S2: This is what, like it's. They've announced that, um, Pereira
- 50:17S2: is going to be up against Shamir, which is going
- 50:21S2: to be a great fight.
- 50:22S1: Not if someone rolls all over the other one.
- 50:25S2: That's what I'm. Yeah, I think that a lot of
- 50:27S2: people will be learning from that last fight that he
- 50:29S2: had and just going, I can't be bothered with this
- 50:31S2: mother fest.
- 50:31S1: Oh, surely Dana won't just be like bra, backhand. I'll
- 50:34S1: give you a million bucks if you don't roll all
- 50:36S1: over him. No one wants to see that this is
- 50:37S1: Memorial Weekend.
- 50:38S2: The hope was that Pereira would fight Cyril Gahan and
- 50:42S2: that he would jump up to heavyweight.
- 50:43S1: Oh, yeah, that would have been good.
- 50:44S2: That would be quite sick. Um, the other, uh, the
- 50:46S2: other fights that they reckon will be getting announced a
- 50:49S2: tapuria versus Justin Gaethje. Oh, which is that one?
- 50:53S1: Yes, yes.
- 50:53S2: Yes, that'll be a monster. Harrison versus Nunez. Um, females. Um,
- 50:58S2: McGregor versus Diaz three.
- 51:01S1: That hasn't been confirmed.
- 51:02S2: No no no no no. But that's what they're wanting.
- 51:04S1: And I would love that.
- 51:05S2: And, uh, Colby Covington versus Paddy Pimblett is another one
- 51:08S2: that they've, um, said would be a possibility.
- 51:11S1: The McGregor Diaz fight would be like a fight almost.
- 51:16S1: You'd want to see it, but, you know, it's not
- 51:18S1: going to be at the level of some of those
- 51:19S1: other fights we've had recently. Because I've been out of
- 51:22S1: the game for quite a while.
- 51:23S2: I'd want to see Aspinall versus Jon Jones.
- 51:26S1: What's, um, Nick Diaz? Imagine him fighting McGregor. I would
- 51:30S1: love to see that. He was way better than Nate,
- 51:32S1: but then ended up getting banned from the sport for
- 51:33S1: like six years for smoking weed. And now it's legal
- 51:36S1: in every state.
- 51:37S2: Yeah, that's.
- 51:38S1: He was always the better.
- 51:39S2: Fighter. Yeah, he was crazy good.
- 51:41S1: Yeah. And also crazy.
- 51:42S2: Yeah.
- 51:43S1: Which was like crazy versus crazy. It would be awesome.
- 51:46S1: What about you? Go. I mean, probably slightly unfair, but
- 51:50S1: I was like, imagine, um, say, Nick does two rounds.
- 51:53S1: Nate does two. Three rounds.
- 51:55S2: Like a a tag team UFC event would be awesome.
- 51:58S1: Conor would be the one to say yes to that.
- 52:00S2: Yeah. Yeah. You you two fighters and you basically can
- 52:03S2: tag out if you're, like, about to get choked out,
- 52:05S2: you can tap out.
- 52:08S1: This is why we're not in charge.
- 52:09S2: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:10S1: You can switch.
- 52:10S2: Out. It's just an endless fight.
- 52:12S1: Uh, righto. Give us a couple of moments. Got to
- 52:13S1: be back with late mail. A chance for us to
- 52:15S1: get to some of the stuff we haven't had a
- 52:16S1: chance to get to some correspondents from the UK as well.
- 52:19S1: One of our UK rock listeners, Danny Carroll, is a
- 52:25S1: great man. Loves it.
- 52:27S2: Good to have you with us, mate.
- 52:28S1: Grinspoon. Chemical heart on the Rock.
- 52:30S13: Like the sound of that. You can get the link
- 52:32S13: in the show notes.
- 52:33S1: Hell of a tune, an excess never tear us apart.
- 52:36S1: It is rock. Drive in the Rock. Thursday evening we're
- 52:39S1: almost on the home run to the weekend. And a
- 52:42S1: little bit of late. Mail for you now. A chance
- 52:44S1: for us to get to some of the stuff we
- 52:45S1: haven't had a chance to get to. Oh, by the way,
- 52:49S1: I forgot to tell you this earlier as well. If
- 52:50S1: you are catching Air New Zealand flight anytime soon, they
- 52:53S1: have now banned EarPods and all Bluetooth headphones from being
- 52:56S1: put in checked luggage due to fire safety fears.
- 53:00S2: I wonder if that's little speakers as well then.
- 53:02S1: One would imagine. So yes, anything with a lithium ion battery,
- 53:06S1: they're not super keen being down there, are they?
- 53:09S2: Understandably so. I've got a little bit international, um, international correspondence.
- 53:14S1: Yeah, that's from Danny Carroll. So Danny Carroll is talking
- 53:17S1: about something that's so good looking that it caused an accident.
- 53:20S1: This is from yesterday's radio show. He said I went
- 53:22S1: through a stage of buying old jags, and with the
- 53:24S1: cost of fuel on the size of the fuel tanks,
- 53:26S1: it was painful to fill them up. But then this happened.
- 53:29S1: I pull up to the pumps, prepared to dump a
- 53:31S1: month's salary into the beasts, and a little Porsche Boxster
- 53:34S1: pulls up on the other side of the pump. On
- 53:36S1: using out steps. A young lady in gym gear and
- 53:40S1: I couldn't tell you her name, but the chances are
- 53:42S1: most blokes would be aware of her work and her
- 53:45S1: educational biology films that she makes. Now I've got a
- 53:51S1: girlfriend in the car and I'm side eyeing so hard
- 53:55S1: I was nearly having a stroke as all this was
- 53:57S1: going on. A gentleman has just finished filling up and
- 54:00S1: is walking across the forecourt heading towards the shop, and
- 54:02S1: he notices the yoga pant wearing mattress. Actress completely misses
- 54:07S1: the sliding door, walks straight into the glass panel windows,
- 54:11S1: falls into the newspaper stand and it was just like
- 54:15S1: the Yankees had won the World Series. I laughed. The
- 54:17S1: VPN Netflix girl looks horrified and in the chaos and
- 54:22S1: I go in, I pay. I get back to the car,
- 54:24S1: giggling and say to the missus, oh my gosh, that
- 54:26S1: was so funny. She looks at me deadpan, says, if
- 54:29S1: you drove a mini, that would have been you dickhead.
- 54:39S1: Well played.
- 54:40S2: This is Sprinting into glass doors is one of the
- 54:44S2: funniest things you'll ever see.
- 54:46S1: When you have it, it's like there's certain sounds. When
- 54:49S1: it's like a sweet spot hit like a the middle
- 54:52S1: of a baseball bat, the perfect drive with a driver,
- 54:55S1: middle of a cricket bat, or like a kid's head
- 54:59S1: going into some safety glass at full speed. That sound.
- 55:02S1: There's nothing else quite like that.
- 55:04S2: Yeah.
- 55:05S1: Actually, I say kids like a like a drunk adult
- 55:08S1: bloke is better.
- 55:09S2: Our our lawyers, where they're situated in this building, they've
- 55:13S2: got a glass, basically a big glass plate at the
- 55:15S2: end of a hallway and that looks like where you
- 55:18S2: would walk into it, but you actually walk to the
- 55:19S2: side of the glass plate and into the building, and
- 55:22S2: the receptionist basically just sees people smudge their faces against
- 55:25S2: it every single day. I was like, why don't you
- 55:27S2: put a stripe on it? She's like, I could work
- 55:29S2: anywhere in the world, but I stay here just for
- 55:31S2: this alone. I was like, if you set up a
- 55:36S2: camera above your head just as a security camera, you'd
- 55:38S2: make millions selling this on the internet.
- 55:41S1: So I've just found a four minute 26 compilation. Baby.
- 55:51S1: It's a bloke in a dojo. That's it. That's a
- 55:57S1: kid in the mall.
- 55:57S17: Donk, donk!
- 56:00S1: It's weirdly enjoyable, am I? Is anyone else feeling that
- 56:03S1: or am I weird?
- 56:04S2: I mean, it is. There is a certain amount of
- 56:07S2: pleasure that you take in other people's misery. And that's
- 56:09S2: the human race.
- 56:10S1: Yeah, yeah. We wanted to do a segment once about
- 56:14S1: overweight people like me, uh, rolling down hills accidentally, I
- 56:19S1: think weirdly enjoyable as well. It's due to the fact
- 56:23S1: that there's not a lot of strength in the ankle.
- 56:27S1: It can go. Trust me, I know you now.
- 56:30S2: They do the you know, they do the challenge where
- 56:32S2: they try and do the Whitney Houston drum beat, you know,
- 56:34S2: like it became one of those things.
- 56:36S1: Yes.
- 56:37S2: I reckon you could do the same thing. You pick
- 56:39S2: the point of terminal velocity of a big person just
- 56:41S2: before they bin it?
- 56:44S1: Yes, I'll give it a go.
- 56:46S13: Listen to our other podcast. Not for radio. Wherever you're
- 56:48S13: listening to this one, just search. Not for radio.
- 56:51S1: Hello there. If you've just joined us. We asked this
- 56:53S1: question before the break. It was a quick one. How
- 56:56S1: long does it take to fly to Antarctica from New Zealand?
- 56:59S2: Flights out of Christchurch to Antarctica typically take between 5
- 57:03S2: and 7 hours. It's much further than I thought it
- 57:05S2: would be.
- 57:06S1: So you could do a return in ten, because there
- 57:09S1: used to be the flight that would go down there, right?
- 57:11S2: Would they do the Southern Lights flights where they fly
- 57:14S2: out of there and they basically do a big, big loop.
- 57:16S2: So you can see the southern lights, the aurora borealis.
- 57:20S1: Jeez. I used to enjoy, uh, rugby bus trips across
- 57:23S1: the Canterbury Plains, and that's pretty bloody boring to look at.
- 57:26S1: I could do a booze cruise to Antarctica and back.
- 57:28S1: No dramas as long as the drinks kept flowing.
- 57:31S2: It's the. It's the boat trips where you fly into
- 57:34S2: Argentina and go out of there. Those ones look crazy.
- 57:37S1: Yeah. Your mate Logan done that?
- 57:39S2: He did. He said it was epic. He's like, it
- 57:41S2: is a bucket list must do thing. He's like that.
- 57:43S2: And a safari. Job done.
- 57:46S1: Mhm.
- 57:47S2: It's kind of the only places where you see it
- 57:49S2: where it used to be, where it's just unchecked.
- 57:53S1: I've seen the documentary The Lion King, the new one.
- 57:55S2: Oh yeah.
- 57:57S1: Pretty good.
- 57:58S2: Mate.
- 57:59S1: All the way over there.
- 58:00S2: Better to get acting lines that can actually speak English
- 58:03S2: as well as you can understand what they're talking about.
- 58:05S1: Wow. I think that's just peanut butter on the tongue, mate.
- 58:07S1: Stereogram in the rock.
- 58:09S13: Get that link in the show notes.
- 58:12S1: Guns N roses. That is the rock with Shane Dunk.
- 58:15S1: And last drinks for a Thursday going to get delivered up. And, uh,
- 58:18S1: also going to be dedicated to a very special athlete
- 58:22S1: here in New Zealand. One of the all time greats.
- 58:24S25: I'd love to have a beer with Duncan. I'd love
- 58:27S25: to have a beer with Duncan. We drink in moderation
- 58:32S25: and we never, ever, ever, ever old and drunk. We
- 58:35S25: drink at the town and country where the atmosphere is great.
- 58:40S25: I love to have a beer with Duncan cause Duncan's
- 58:44S25: mean mate.
- 58:45S24: Yeah.
- 58:46S1: One of the most destructive and best rugby players of
- 58:50S1: all time, Portia Woodman. Wickliffe has retired from international rugby.
- 58:54S1: As of today. I'm going to run you through what
- 58:56S1: she achieved in her incredible career.
- 58:59S2: Stats are amazing.
- 59:00S1: Appointed officer of New Zealand Order of Merit that was
- 59:02S1: just last year. Maori Sportswoman of the year 2017. World
- 59:06S1: Rugby Women's Sevens Player of the decade 2020. World Rugby
- 59:09S1: Women's Player of the year 2017 and again in 2015.
- 59:13S1: She scored her 50th test try at the 2025 Rugby
- 59:17S1: World Cup, a historic milestone. She is the all time
- 59:20S1: leading test try scorer across both men's and women's rugby
- 59:24S1: in New Zealand, so she surpassed Doug Howlett's record. She's
- 59:28S1: the first woman to score 250 tries in the Sevens Series.
- 59:33S1: First woman to score 200 tries in the World Rugby
- 59:37S1: Sevens Series as well. Uh. She won the Rugby Sevens
- 59:41S1: World Cup titles in 2013 2018. She's got a Commonwealth
- 59:44S1: Games gold medal in the sevens. She was the winner
- 59:48S1: of the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2021, also 2017.
- 59:52S1: She got a silver medal in Rio Olympics and again
- 59:55S1: she went and got a medal at Paris in 2024,
- 59:58S1: four years before that. No dramas mate. I'll pick up
- 1:00:01S1: the one for Tokyo as well.
- 1:00:03S2: She is incredible.
- 1:00:05S1: Isn't that just crazy? Like what a special human.
- 1:00:09S2: Yeah, yeah. And, uh, obviously she feels like she's not
- 1:00:12S2: done in rugby completely. Um, and will be. Everyone's waiting
- 1:00:15S2: for the comeback because she's sort of nudged it and gone. Ah, look,
- 1:00:19S2: I'm done. But body is just unreal on it. Like,
- 1:00:21S2: it just has got years and years and years to play.
- 1:00:24S1: Well, she kind of had done that. And then she
- 1:00:26S1: came back last year didn't she. Yeah. For the World Cup.
- 1:00:28S2: Yeah. So I would be interested to see if she
- 1:00:32S2: can stay away from the game, because it just isn't
- 1:00:34S2: the game without it.
- 1:00:35S1: My only regret would not be putting more money on
- 1:00:38S1: her to score two or more tries than all of
- 1:00:40S1: her matches.
- 1:00:42S2: Yeah, that was, um. Yeah, that women's rugby is amazing.
- 1:00:45S2: And women's the NRL is really great. Odds on that one.
- 1:00:50S1: Yeah. Of, um. Yeah. Really, really been enjoying it as
- 1:00:53S1: of late. Well, enjoy your well-earned break. No matter how
- 1:00:55S1: long it lasts. Portia, you've been just an absolute treat
- 1:00:58S1: to watch. Uh, so, last drinks dedicated to you. Have
- 1:01:01S1: a great night in New Zealand, Paul Murray hooroo.
