Latest / Cardinal Territory: A St. Louis Cardinals Podcast / After series loss to Cubs, is it time for Cardinals to make rotation changes?
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Live from Chicago at Sunday Night, and the Saint Louis
- 0:07Speaker 1: Cardinals just got flat out embarrassed on national television. They
- 0:11Speaker 1: were steamrolled by the Chicago Cubs eleven to nothing on
- 0:14Speaker 1: ESPN Sunday Night Baseball here at Wrigley Fields. And usually
- 0:18Speaker 1: on this show, I tend to try to bring a
- 0:22Speaker 1: calm overall approach.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Bernie. Maybe you're a little bit more wild up.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I wonder if we're going to have like a rehearsal
- 0:29Speaker 1: today because what we saw in Chicago to end the
- 0:31Speaker 1: series this way, to drop the finale, I mean, it
- 0:33Speaker 1: was just flat out embarrassing. It was a bad loss
- 0:37Speaker 1: for the Saint Louis Cardinals. Welcome back to Cardinal Territory, Katie.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Bernie here with you, wrapping up a rather disappointing home
- 0:44Speaker 1: road trip. Excuse me, that started out with so much
- 0:46Speaker 1: promise and now here we are seeing the Cardinals really
- 0:50Speaker 1: stumble through the first week of July. Bernie, your takeaways
- 0:55Speaker 1: from the series, especially tonight.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It was a non competitive game from the jump.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I was really disappointed in that because listen, they had
- 1:04Speaker 3: no chance to win Friday after Miles Michaeliss gave up
- 1:07Speaker 3: eighteen home runs or whatever it was. But their offense
- 1:10Speaker 3: didn't do anything in that game either. And then Saturday
- 1:14Speaker 3: an inspirational win, I mean, a great, great comeback win, fantastic,
- 1:18Speaker 3: and you thought that maybe that would they'd ride a
- 1:21Speaker 3: wave into tonight. And I tell you what, they took
- 1:25Speaker 3: some really good at bats against Matthew Boyd early, so
- 1:28Speaker 3: they had an opportunity to score runs and keep some
- 1:31Speaker 3: pressure or put some pressure on the.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Cubs, but they didn't do it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I mean, the offense once again just just completely just
- 1:39Speaker 3: completely what's the word, I don't want to use an
- 1:41Speaker 3: impolite word, but you know, just completely failing with runners
- 1:44Speaker 3: in scoring position.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And so whatever.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Chance they had to win that game, the offense was
- 1:50Speaker 3: going to have to come through because frankly, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 3: going into the series, Katie I had very little faith
- 1:56Speaker 3: that they would win either start made by Michaels Fetti,
- 2:00Speaker 3: I really did, so this had to be you know,
- 2:03Speaker 3: they had to hope to get Fetti like a couple
- 2:06Speaker 3: of you know, three or four decent innings and then
- 2:08Speaker 3: get out of there. But maybe maybe it's a two
- 2:10Speaker 3: two three two game at that time, but it never happened.
- 2:13Speaker 3: He was bad again. He looked like he had no
- 2:15Speaker 3: confidence and then the michaelst thing was just an embarrassment
- 2:19Speaker 3: to everybody.
- 2:20Speaker 4: So yeah, very very disappointing weekend.
- 2:23Speaker 3: But primarily because they were a no show tonight after
- 2:26Speaker 3: what they did yesterday. And I you know, for all
- 2:29Speaker 3: this talk, and I think you alluded to this. And
- 2:31Speaker 3: I'm sorry to monopolize the time here, but I think
- 2:33Speaker 3: you alluded to this in your game story off of
- 2:36Speaker 3: the blowout Friday. You know, listen, these guys all talk
- 2:40Speaker 3: about Ali talks about it. You know, it's a tough schedule.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Our guys are tired, we're tired. All we're going to
- 2:45Speaker 3: get to Chicago. We're gonna have a day off, you know,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and we'll be recharged and all this stuff.
- 2:50Speaker 4: No, they weren't.
- 2:50Speaker 3: They were flat. They were flat Friday, they were flat tonight.
- 2:55Speaker 3: So I don't get it. I don't know what's up.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But it's not a good look. It's pretty much anywhere
- 3:00Speaker 3: you want to go on the ball club, it's not
- 3:01Speaker 3: a good look right now.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, And this will be a two part episode.
- 3:04Speaker 1: We'll talk about the rotation, particularly Eric Fetti the first half,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and we'll talk about the offense or lack thereof in
- 3:09Speaker 1: the second half. But I'm with you, Bernie Friday, that
- 3:12Speaker 1: just sucked. That was a shitty game. Got to see
- 3:15Speaker 1: the mystery though. I've never seen aiight homer in the
- 3:19Speaker 1: game before. Never happened for the Cubs and never happened
- 3:22Speaker 1: for the Cardinals in terms of surrending that many home runs.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But I love Saturday's game.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It was a grind Lebby didn't have it and for
- 3:30Speaker 1: the team to come through there and keep battling in
- 3:32Speaker 1: a big swing from Poso, I totally agree. The series
- 3:36Speaker 1: feels much more disappointing because after such a fun win
- 3:40Speaker 1: and an inspiring win on Saturday, they were completely out
- 3:44Speaker 1: of it. And yes they just Matthew boys did all
- 3:47Speaker 1: start right. We know that, so congratulations to him and
- 3:50Speaker 1: Brendan Donovan. But yeah, they had competitive evats. It doesn't
- 3:54Speaker 1: matter when your starting pitcher can only record four outs
- 3:58Speaker 1: and just doesn't have it again from the very start
- 4:01Speaker 1: of this game. That's three in a row. We'll get
- 4:03Speaker 1: to Eric Fetti, trust me, and what the Cardinals are
- 4:05Speaker 1: going to do with that. But I thought this was
- 4:08Speaker 1: just so disappointing because you want to see a team
- 4:10Speaker 1: take advantage of that momentum.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You know, these games matter.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You know, how you play in July is when it dictate, honestly,
- 4:16Speaker 1: the rest of your season trajectory, whether you buy or
- 4:18Speaker 1: sell at the trade deadline. And it was it felt
- 4:22Speaker 1: to me like the worst loss I've seen them play
- 4:24Speaker 1: this year. It was super, super disappointing to go out
- 4:27Speaker 1: there and just get smoked by your rivals.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I was with you, too, Bernie.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I didn't feel super confident about either Miles or Fetti
- 4:35Speaker 1: taking the start, just based on where they had been
- 4:38Speaker 1: over their past few starts.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And it makes me.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Wonder if there was a way to restructure if guys
- 4:47Speaker 1: when guys were pitching, I know, I got a lot
- 4:49Speaker 1: of comments about, you know, why isn't setting great facing
- 4:51Speaker 1: the Cups.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That's fair. I get it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You want your ace on your best team. It's also
- 4:55Speaker 1: important to remember that some pitchers are creatures of routine.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Sunny Gray's routine is super important, and if you take
- 5:03Speaker 1: him off that schedule, you might not get the same
- 5:05Speaker 1: Sunny Gray that you would have. Changing a schedule is
- 5:08Speaker 1: a two way street, so it can't just be the
- 5:10Speaker 1: Cardinals making that decision. The picture has to be opened
- 5:12Speaker 1: to it as well, I'm not saying he is or isn't.
- 5:14Speaker 1: That's just my understanding that the situation is sunny likes
- 5:17Speaker 1: a routine. Could you bring in someone like a Michael McGreevey. Absolutely.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Here's a comment that we heard from John Mosellla on Friday,
- 5:24Speaker 1: who I thought actually did a very nice job in
- 5:26Speaker 1: being candid, and he said a lot of things where
- 5:29Speaker 1: if you read between the lines, you don't know exactly
- 5:30Speaker 1: what direction he's going. We asked, where the heck is
- 5:33Speaker 1: Michael mcgreeby, And if you missed that episode, we just
- 5:35Speaker 1: had mcgreeby on Friday at the last episode of Cardinal Territory.
- 5:39Speaker 1: He was really good, and but John Mozellelac said, Michael
- 5:43Speaker 1: McGreevey is a major league picture.
- 5:45Speaker 2: There's just not a spot open.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And I'm just wondering, like I wonder if there's anyone
- 5:51Speaker 1: here that at the authority to change that, because there
- 5:53Speaker 1: are spots open for him at this point. And Bernie,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you and I are gonna get into this section because
- 5:57Speaker 1: this is I think the most charged up either of
- 5:59Speaker 1: us have been about this particular issue. We got to
- 6:02Speaker 1: get an ad read first from neutrafol and then we'll
- 6:04Speaker 1: dump into I think what we really need to be
- 6:05Speaker 1: talking about the cardinals need to make some rotation changes
- 6:08Speaker 1: and it starts with McGreevy.
- 6:10Speaker 2: All right, So quick message from neutrafole.

- 7:18Speaker 2: All right, so we just came up.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'm recording this quick very pretty much right after we
- 7:22Speaker 1: did our postgame session with Ali Marmal and Eric Fetti,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and it was asked what the next steps are for
- 7:29Speaker 1: Eric Fetty, and I'll just go ahead and show the
- 7:33Speaker 1: quote here and I will read it as well.
- 7:39Speaker 2: All right, Alli.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Marmal said, we'll use tomorrow as an off day to
- 7:42Speaker 1: take a step back and figure out what that looks like.
- 7:45Speaker 2: He has to find a solution to what's going on.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Continuing to go down this road doesn't seem beneficial at
- 7:51Speaker 1: the moment, So that to me is pretty clear as day.
- 7:54Speaker 1: The Cardinals will reassess the rotation and if Eric Betty
- 7:56Speaker 1: will take his final.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Start on the off day on Monday.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Right now, he is currently scheduled to start July twelfth,
- 8:02Speaker 1: that is the Saturday Day game against the Braves, the
- 8:05Speaker 1: day before the All star Break. Michael McGreevey is eligible.
- 8:10Speaker 1: As we werecalled off from Memphis on July tenth, it
- 8:14Speaker 1: would be very easy to swap the two. It is
- 8:17Speaker 1: in my opinion that they should be doing this, even
- 8:20Speaker 1: if it's not a permanent change. Eric Fetty is lost
- 8:23Speaker 1: right now. He made that very queer in his post game.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I want to commend him for going out and vote
- 8:27Speaker 1: him and Miles. I know Cardinals fans don't really care
- 8:30Speaker 1: about this. I get it, but I think they both
- 8:32Speaker 1: felt a responsibility to stick up there and talk to
- 8:36Speaker 1: the media and relay their message to the fans about
- 8:38Speaker 1: their poor performances. And Eric Fetty did a nice job
- 8:42Speaker 1: of saying, yeah, this is impacted me mentally too.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on. They're a no excuses
- 8:48Speaker 2: for it. Obviously it sucks.
- 8:50Speaker 1: But when a pitcher doesn't know what's going on and
- 8:52Speaker 1: it starts to impact him mentally, you need to give
- 8:54Speaker 1: him a break. So I'm in the movement, Bernie. I'm
- 8:56Speaker 1: sure you are too. I don't think Eric Fetty should
- 8:59Speaker 1: be that last start. I think you should see what
- 9:01Speaker 1: Magreeedy can do here.
- 9:03Speaker 3: No, they got to get him out of there, and
- 9:05Speaker 3: they've got to figure something out.
- 9:06Speaker 4: And you know, I'm gonna get off.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm actually not off topic, but I just want another
- 9:12Speaker 3: layer to this is. Of course, you know, John Mosaic
- 9:16Speaker 3: made the decision to hold on Eric Fetty, and let's
- 9:19Speaker 3: face it, that turned out to be a disaster.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I argued, and I was hardly alone.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Many many, many people argued or made the point that listen,
- 9:28Speaker 3: if you let him go into the season, there's two
- 9:29Speaker 3: things can happen.
- 9:30Speaker 4: He'll either get.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Hurt or his performance will deteriorate. Well, you know, I'm
- 9:35Speaker 3: glad he hasn't gotten hurt. Wouldn't wish that on anybody.
- 9:38Speaker 3: But his performance has absolutely deteriorated. So I don't know
- 9:42Speaker 3: what trade value he has. I think it'd be a
- 9:44Speaker 3: team trying to take a lottery ticket. But this whole
- 9:48Speaker 3: this entire trade, by the way, which I liked at
- 9:51Speaker 3: the time, I'm not going to be a hypocrite. This
- 9:53Speaker 3: this whole thing turned out really bad for the Cardinals,
- 9:56Speaker 3: and Fetti has just lost it. But Katie, if you
- 10:00Speaker 3: don't mind me the sort of break, you know, breaking
- 10:02Speaker 3: the parameters a little bit. They have two rotation problems
- 10:06Speaker 3: because Miles Michaels is done too. And this frustrates me
- 10:11Speaker 3: on so many levels because every time you you write
- 10:15Speaker 3: a good piece about the trade deadline, and we all
- 10:18Speaker 3: talk about this conversations all the time, what should they do?
- 10:21Speaker 4: What should they do?
- 10:22Speaker 3: Like John mose Like made a comment in your story
- 10:24Speaker 3: about like, oh, so starting pitching has been solid. No,
- 10:28Speaker 3: actually it hasn't been. There's been a couple of guys
- 10:30Speaker 3: that have been solid. Michael List and Fetti have been
- 10:34Speaker 3: a disaster. If you go back to May the twentieth,
- 10:37Speaker 3: let me just give you this one stat.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Let me give you this one stat.
- 10:42Speaker 3: In seventeen starts since May the twentieth, those two guys
- 10:48Speaker 3: have an era. Well, yeah, those two guys have a
- 10:51Speaker 3: combined ERA of six point sixty seven. They've given up
- 10:54Speaker 3: twenty homers. That's in seventeen starts, right. The rest of
- 10:58Speaker 3: the rotation during that same time has got a three
- 11:01Speaker 3: point nine. Oh e. Ra Gray has been good, Libby's
- 11:04Speaker 3: been pretty good. Pat Polonte's made a nice bounce back mcgravy,
- 11:09Speaker 3: but you give you give him a pass because he's
- 11:12Speaker 3: just getting started. So you have a situation.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Here where.
- 11:18Speaker 3: You you know, they they they say they're gonna they're
- 11:21Speaker 3: trying to win. It's a runway season. But as time
- 11:24Speaker 3: goes on, this is July, we got to see where
- 11:26Speaker 3: we are. They're they're basically saying, we got to try
- 11:29Speaker 3: to win, you know, if we if we want to
- 11:30Speaker 3: stay in this thing, we got to win.
- 11:32Speaker 4: But then maybe we'll think about making a trade. Maybe not.
- 11:35Speaker 4: You know, how can you if I'm not mistaken?
- 11:38Speaker 3: You know, in the seventeen starts that I talked about
- 11:41Speaker 3: with these two guys, the Cardinals are like five and twelve,
- 11:44Speaker 3: and it's not all their fault. There were some of
- 11:46Speaker 3: those games where they didn't score much. But what so
- 11:49Speaker 3: I I'm perplexed by all.
- 11:51Speaker 4: This, you know.
- 11:53Speaker 3: And it's not like if you dfa Miles Michaelis. It's
- 11:56Speaker 3: like you save money or or it costs you more.
- 12:00Speaker 3: That salary he's getting this year has already been paid for.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It's a guaranteed salary. Betty doesn't make all that much anyway.
- 12:08Speaker 3: But I just don't, you know, I don't I don't
- 12:10Speaker 3: know what his trade value will be. So do you
- 12:12Speaker 3: just have to eat that? I don't know, And I
- 12:15Speaker 3: know what they're saying. You know that, you know, Moe
- 12:17Speaker 3: said it again to you. He says it to everybody
- 12:19Speaker 3: else too. It's like, well, you know one of the
- 12:21Speaker 3: reasons they don't bring McGreevy up, and you know, we
- 12:24Speaker 3: want to see him up here, but it's like, uh,
- 12:27Speaker 3: you know, we don't. There's nothing behind him at Memphis.
- 12:30Speaker 3: And it's just it seems like a strange way to
- 12:33Speaker 3: look at things because number one, this rotation has been
- 12:36Speaker 3: healthy all season. You know, it's not like they have injuries.
- 12:39Speaker 3: You know, there's any like there's they've got reason to
- 12:43Speaker 3: think that like this big set of injuries.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Is imminent at any minute.
- 12:47Speaker 3: They've had a really, really healthy rotation. That's number one
- 12:51Speaker 3: and number two. You know, this is one of the
- 12:54Speaker 3: consequences of the Cardinals being cheap last off season because
- 12:59Speaker 3: some of the some of the teams that have good
- 13:01Speaker 3: starting pitching depth, they signed what you would call quadruple
- 13:05Speaker 3: A pitchers, you know, veteran guys trying to get their
- 13:08Speaker 3: form back. They'll sign a minor league deal, you put
- 13:10Speaker 3: him in bemfit. They did none of that, So this
- 13:13Speaker 3: is their own fault. And I don't look listen, I'll
- 13:17Speaker 3: shut up after this. I don't know how anyone can
- 13:20Speaker 3: take the Cardinals seriously when they have Eric Fetti and
- 13:25Speaker 3: Miles Michael List in the rotation. How can you even
- 13:28Speaker 3: take that team seriously?
- 13:29Speaker 4: I can't.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I just love it. I think we're going to go
- 13:31Speaker 2: back and forth on rams here.
- 13:32Speaker 1: This is going to be good because you're what is
- 13:37Speaker 1: so frustrating here as we switched to this topic, which
- 13:40Speaker 1: the answer to this topic bar is a time for
- 13:42Speaker 1: Michael mcgreeby full time is yes, it's been time.
- 13:45Speaker 2: It's so frustrating.
- 13:46Speaker 1: And I'll go back to this quote from Mo he
- 13:49Speaker 1: said about mcgreeby when he's pitched in the big leagues,
- 13:52Speaker 1: every time he's got the ball, he's pitched really well. Thankfully,
- 13:55Speaker 1: he's a very patient, good guy. He's tolerating this well.
- 13:59Speaker 1: The Cardinals shouldn't be tolerating this anymore. I for more
- 14:04Speaker 1: to say that John Michael McGreevy is a major league
- 14:07Speaker 1: pitcher and there are no spots for him. I firmly,
- 14:10Speaker 1: firmly disagree, and I understand what the organization was thinking
- 14:14Speaker 1: in March and April. That was the right call to
- 14:17Speaker 1: put McGreevy in triple A to protect your depth, especially
- 14:20Speaker 1: during the early month of the season's or the early
- 14:23Speaker 1: months of the season excuse me, where pitching injuries are
- 14:26Speaker 1: the most prevalent.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I get it.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's an organization's basic responsibility to preserve its depth. It's
- 14:31Speaker 1: also an organization's basic responsibility to ensure that you have
- 14:34Speaker 1: enough protection. And the Cardinals did not have close to
- 14:37Speaker 1: enough protection from a Triple A level to cover Memphis
- 14:41Speaker 1: to make sure that if something happened in the major
- 14:43Speaker 1: league level they would be okay. McGreevy was their only
- 14:47Speaker 1: source of protection, so they had to use in this way.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's a fault of their own. That made sense in
- 14:52Speaker 1: April and May, and a little bit in June. It's
- 14:54Speaker 1: July sixth. Your season is hinging on how this team plays.
- 14:58Speaker 1: In July, your whole of this season was we need
- 15:02Speaker 1: to find out who we can build around. We want
- 15:04Speaker 1: the young guys to have some performance and see who
- 15:06Speaker 1: can help the team. Michael mcbreeby is your third best pitcher.
- 15:10Speaker 1: He has been all season, regardless of where he's played.
- 15:12Speaker 1: He's played most of the season in Memphis. He is
- 15:15Speaker 1: still in Memphis right now, and he should not be.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It is no longer April. You're no longer covering depth. Yes,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you're weighing a risk a little bit if you bring
- 15:23Speaker 1: him up because you clearly don't see any of your
- 15:27Speaker 1: options in TRIAA other than him as serviceable. That is
- 15:30Speaker 1: your own fault as an organization. It's time to have
- 15:33Speaker 1: agreevy up here, and I mean Eric Fetti and Miles
- 15:38Speaker 1: Michael's too. But i've Eric Fetty's stats available right in
- 15:40Speaker 1: front of me right now. His last three outings sixteen
- 15:43Speaker 1: e runs over ten innings. The Cardinals have lost those
- 15:46Speaker 1: games by a collective score of twenty.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Six to nothing.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Bernie, and the organization keeps trotting someone who is clearly
- 15:55Speaker 1: not right out there, and.
- 15:56Speaker 2: They have a better solution for short term and.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Long term in Triple A right now, He's our twenty
- 16:02Speaker 1: twenty one first round pick.
- 16:04Speaker 2: No organization treats their first round pick like that. What
- 16:07Speaker 2: are we doing?
- 16:08Speaker 1: McGreevy should take this start coming up next weekend.
- 16:11Speaker 4: There's no doubt about it.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I mean, you can make the case they should have
- 16:15Speaker 3: they should have gone with that earlier. But I do
- 16:18Speaker 3: understand it in a way because Miles Michaelis was pitching
- 16:21Speaker 3: pretty well up until late May, so I can get that.
- 16:26Speaker 3: But this thing all just went to hell in June,
- 16:29Speaker 3: and they they're very, very slow to react. At some point,
- 16:32Speaker 3: they should have either moved Fetti aside skip, have him
- 16:36Speaker 3: skip a couple starts, have michael'ski skip a couple starts.
- 16:40Speaker 3: And that's a way to get you know, Fetti excuse me,
- 16:42Speaker 3: that's a way to get McGreevy up here, at least
- 16:45Speaker 3: more than they have in the past. But this is
- 16:48Speaker 3: what happens when you go into a season where you're
- 16:52Speaker 3: really undecided. You know, you're like the undecided voter in
- 16:56Speaker 3: an election. I always I can't stand here in about
- 16:59Speaker 3: undecided voter because it's like, you got to know who
- 17:02Speaker 3: you're going to vote for already. You know, what are
- 17:04Speaker 3: you waffling about? So the Cardinals are waffling, they're the
- 17:06Speaker 3: undecided voter. It's like, well, we got the runway. Oh,
- 17:09Speaker 3: we want to give opportunities to young players. We'll oh,
- 17:12Speaker 3: we got to see what our young guys can do,
- 17:14Speaker 3: except for Michael McGreevy, you know, because we're gonna keep
- 17:17Speaker 3: two older guys to have nothing left.
- 17:19Speaker 4: It just makes no sense, you know, Oh, we think
- 17:21Speaker 4: we can win.
- 17:22Speaker 3: You know, Moa was kind of make dropping you know,
- 17:25Speaker 3: hints or suggestions back in spring training, and we think
- 17:28Speaker 3: we can be pretty good.
- 17:29Speaker 4: We think we can have a good team. We think
- 17:31Speaker 4: we can be entertaining.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Uh. He was basically also saying, you know, we think
- 17:36Speaker 3: we can make the playoffs. He didn't say it dearly,
- 17:38Speaker 3: but that that's what he was intimating. And it's like, well,
- 17:41Speaker 3: how can you do that when you have two guys
- 17:44Speaker 3: in your rotation that are pulling the whole thing down
- 17:48Speaker 3: and whenever the way they're pitching now when they go
- 17:51Speaker 3: to the mounta, it's all it's just about a guaranteed loss.
- 17:54Speaker 3: If it's not guaranteed, you know, the odds are very much,
- 17:57Speaker 3: very very very much against you winning the game. They've
- 18:00Speaker 3: become a Both of those guys are a huge liability.
- 18:04Speaker 3: They should have DFA Michaels. Uh Saturday morning. But I
- 18:08Speaker 3: guess they're going to show him some respect. But he listen,
- 18:12Speaker 3: he's most guy, you know, So Mo's not going to
- 18:14Speaker 3: DFA Michaels.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Michaels has had. Michaels has had. You talk about leading
- 18:21Speaker 4: a charm.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Life, right, John Mozeligan is a contract extension that turned
- 18:25Speaker 3: out to be really bad. And when in any other
- 18:29Speaker 3: organization with d F a guy like that, based on
- 18:33Speaker 3: the fact, he hasn't been good.
- 18:36Speaker 4: He was not good in twenty three.
- 18:37Speaker 3: He wasn't he was worse than twenty four, and he's
- 18:39Speaker 3: even worse this year.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Why is he still here because you?
- 18:44Speaker 3: Yeah, because you made a bad contract decision, and you
- 18:48Speaker 3: you you won't acknowledge that your decision was a total failure.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Well what does that do for your manager, who fans
- 18:56Speaker 3: want to blame for everything? What does that do for
- 18:57Speaker 3: the other players in the clubhouse? You know, when you're sticking,
- 19:01Speaker 3: When you're sticking with two people who fail repeatedly, how
- 19:04Speaker 3: can you How can you expect anybody to take you
- 19:07Speaker 3: seriously when you basically imply that you're, oh, yeah, we're
- 19:11Speaker 3: trying to win. How can any want to take you
- 19:13Speaker 3: have no credibility, You have very little left because some
- 19:16Speaker 3: of the other guys.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Are doing very well.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But I don't know, man, As you can tell, I'm
- 19:20Speaker 3: pretty jacked up about this.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I know we made we made a pact to not
- 19:23Speaker 1: be super emotional, and here we are both like pretty
- 19:26Speaker 1: annoyed about the whole situation.
- 19:28Speaker 3: See because because because I had to bring Michael List
- 19:31Speaker 3: in too, you know, so anyway, But it's true, man.
- 19:34Speaker 4: It's not and By the way, it's nothing personal. These
- 19:36Speaker 4: guys don't want to be bad. I know that they
- 19:39Speaker 4: feel terrible.
- 19:40Speaker 1: But I mean Miles was so upset Friday, and they're
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know, we have both these games are national games,
- 19:45Speaker 1: so you don't get to see it on the postgame show.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But man, I mean Miles, that sucked. That sucks for him,
- 19:52Speaker 1: That sucks for Fetti.
- 19:53Speaker 2: They know it.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They know out there and they're not pitching well. They
- 19:56Speaker 1: know they're letting the team down. They know fans don't
- 19:58Speaker 1: want to hear it from them. I mean, they have
- 20:02Speaker 1: to perform. They're being paid to perform. And if you
- 20:04Speaker 1: want to be a contending team and you have better
- 20:07Speaker 1: options right now in Triple A and you're still continuing
- 20:10Speaker 1: to put up outings like this, it.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Is super frustrating.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And I think the Cardinals are very much at a
- 20:16Speaker 1: point where they need to make a decision, and I
- 20:17Speaker 1: think they will come Tuesday. We should have a better
- 20:20Speaker 1: understanding about their rotation. But Brian, when I need to
- 20:22Speaker 1: calm down because we need to do our draft Kings segment.
- 20:26Speaker 3: And I met this is a new one, so I
- 20:28Speaker 3: may I know what my responsibilities is in this, I
- 20:32Speaker 3: may do it a different way.
- 20:33Speaker 4: But I think every I think Draft Kings and everyone
- 20:36Speaker 4: else will like the way I do it, I hope.
- 20:38Speaker 3: So the pressure is no, no, because you know they
- 20:42Speaker 3: they want me to make make some picks. But the draft,
- 20:45Speaker 3: the Draft Kings, they haven't said anything for tomorrow Tomorrow's
- 20:50Speaker 3: games as far as I know, But I have enough
- 20:52Speaker 3: experience with this I can explain how it works, and
- 20:54Speaker 3: I also can explain things that they should look for.
- 20:56Speaker 4: All right, you think you think that would get a
- 20:58Speaker 4: thumbs up, Let's do it. Let's start.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we're gonna we're gonna launch it into
- 21:02Speaker 1: our player spotlight presented by Draft Kings.
- 21:11Speaker 2: All right.
- 21:11Speaker 1: So someone noticeably absent here I regularly feeled over the
- 21:16Speaker 1: weekend was mister Nolan Ronado. He is dealing with some
- 21:19Speaker 1: shoulder right shoulder bicep area impingement that he got on
- 21:23Speaker 1: Friday taking I think I can't remember which a bat
- 21:26Speaker 1: it was, but it was an in game at bat,
- 21:28Speaker 1: felt something pull he had.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Was not in the lineup on Saturday. He was a
- 21:31Speaker 2: late scratch.
- 21:31Speaker 1: He tried to lobby to play in the lineup today
- 21:34Speaker 1: but was really not feeling well. So the carbs are
- 21:36Speaker 1: helping with the off down Monday. He'll be back in
- 21:39Speaker 1: the line up on Tuesday. They do not believe, and
- 21:41Speaker 1: I Alston will be necessary. Nolan and I talked this
- 21:44Speaker 1: more or this afternoon and he agrees. Just a rough
- 21:47Speaker 1: week for him with the finger that's still bothering him.
- 21:49Speaker 1: It's still pretty swollen. Now you got some right shoulder pain.
- 21:52Speaker 1: These guys are banged up. And it was funny. I
- 21:56Speaker 1: don't know if it was like funny ha ha funny,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but like funny over you right. Talk into a couple
- 22:00Speaker 1: of the writers upstairs as we watched the fifth inning
- 22:03Speaker 1: or so, and we looked at this infield and we thought,
- 22:07Speaker 1: this is about the quality of infield we would see
- 22:09Speaker 1: if Nolan Arnatto was traded, And for the sake of
- 22:12Speaker 1: everyone's mental health, I'm really glad that didn't happen because
- 22:15Speaker 1: it was not a pretty infield. So the Cardinals miss
- 22:17Speaker 1: him defensively at third base. I know he's been going
- 22:20Speaker 1: through it offensively. He has not looked super super great
- 22:23Speaker 1: over the last month. I thought June was better, obviously,
- 22:26Speaker 1: but they really missed his bat, as evidenced by another
- 22:29Speaker 1: shutout tonight. So Nolan arnad are a player spotlight. For
- 22:32Speaker 1: everyone's sake, we hope he is back in the lineup
- 22:36Speaker 1: on Tuesday when the Cardinals kick off their final homestand
- 22:40Speaker 1: of the first half, a three game set against the
- 22:42Speaker 1: Nationals and three against the Braves. So let's as we
- 22:46Speaker 1: launch in two ore Pick six sponsored by Draftking. So
- 22:52Speaker 1: these for those who been familiar with Pick six, pretty
- 22:56Speaker 1: easy hit more or less on whatever you think is
- 22:58Speaker 1: happening over these these match these props are from over
- 23:01Speaker 1: the weekend. Really hard to get this one done because
- 23:03Speaker 1: we had a holiday weekend schedule. So if you this
- 23:06Speaker 1: is a very simple, easy game, you're going to go
- 23:09Speaker 1: pick two players for these props.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Who are you.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Going with here?
- 23:13Speaker 3: Well, what I want to do is I want to
- 23:15Speaker 3: explain something I actually did do last week.
- 23:17Speaker 4: To explain it right.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Because because the screen we have, it's like those games
- 23:23Speaker 3: have already been played.
- 23:24Speaker 4: I didn't pick anyone, So if I if I, if I, uh.
- 23:27Speaker 3: If I pick someone who hit a home run, everyone's
- 23:29Speaker 3: going to think that I was like kind of cheating
- 23:31Speaker 3: a little bit. So I don't want to do that,
- 23:33Speaker 3: all right, I explained it this way and then and
- 23:36Speaker 3: again it's an easy it's the game is easy to
- 23:39Speaker 3: make choices and you'll have a lot of fun doing it.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I really really enjoy playing it. But anyway, here's an example.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Remember Tuesday night, the Cardinals had to go against Paul
- 23:49Speaker 3: Skins in Pittsburgh, Right, So I looked at I was, look, okay,
- 23:53Speaker 3: who who's the best best chance of a guy getting
- 23:56Speaker 3: a hit against Skeens?
- 23:58Speaker 4: DraftKings set the.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Higher or lower at zero point five hits for Brennan
- 24:02Speaker 3: Donovan and I said, look, Skeens is great. Surely Brennan
- 24:07Speaker 3: Donovan can get a hit. And that's the way I
- 24:09Speaker 3: played him, I think, and I played another thing that
- 24:12Speaker 3: didn't work, but that's kind of how it works. I
- 24:15Speaker 3: wanted to give you a true life example in my
- 24:17Speaker 3: own experience.
- 24:19Speaker 4: And one thing I want to say.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Too about DraftKings really quick is that when you download
- 24:24Speaker 3: the app and you look at what you can choose from,
- 24:27Speaker 3: and then if you click on the player's profile, DraftKings
- 24:31Speaker 3: actually helps you out by giving you information that's relevant
- 24:35Speaker 3: to whatever that higher or lower number.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Is that's been set for that day. So just get
- 24:40Speaker 4: in there and check it out.
- 24:41Speaker 3: You'll really have a ball and it's easy to figure out.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It's not always easy to pick the right guy, but
- 24:47Speaker 3: that's sports, right, who knows? But at least you'll have
- 24:50Speaker 3: some information at your fingertips.
- 24:53Speaker 2: So that's our Pick six Draft Kings.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You can download the DraftKings Pick six app now a

- 25:31Speaker 1: All right, let's get back into it for you over
- 25:35Speaker 1: it when we got over our inks about the pitching,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and so let's while everyone up again, looks some discussion.
- 25:40Speaker 2: About the offense.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Cardinals offense has no shut up six times in the
- 25:44Speaker 1: last eleven games. Is really frustrating to watch. We'll preface
- 25:48Speaker 1: this with we know are not as hurt. I'm playing
- 25:51Speaker 1: through some things. Concurists banged up, new bar banged up,
- 25:55Speaker 1: everyone's banged up.
- 25:56Speaker 2: It's July six. They're grinding through it. Okay.
- 26:00Speaker 1: What this offense performance has shown me lately is just
- 26:03Speaker 1: how much of an impact Yvonne Herrera has made in
- 26:06Speaker 1: this lineup they have first between zero production without him
- 26:10Speaker 1: right now.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It's a little bit alarming.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Actually, there's no doubt about it.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I mean, you look at the RBI total that guy
- 26:17Speaker 3: had based on the number of games he played. It's
- 26:19Speaker 3: pretty amazing. I mean, he just he's a money hitter,
- 26:22Speaker 3: he really really is. And you know, they miss him
- 26:26Speaker 3: against lefties because they don't hit lefties very well.
- 26:28Speaker 4: And we've all talked and written about that.
- 26:31Speaker 3: But Avon Herrera, the beautiful thing about him is he's
- 26:34Speaker 3: even harder on right handed batter right handed pitchers. There's
- 26:37Speaker 3: no platoon disadvantage whatsoever, platoon split disadvantage, so they miss
- 26:42Speaker 3: him a lot. But I will say this, and I
- 26:44Speaker 3: was adding up some numbers from the Pittsburgh series and
- 26:49Speaker 3: then the two games the Cardinals lost this weekend and
- 26:53Speaker 3: guys that they needed to hit. Guys that they needed
- 26:56Speaker 3: to hit just didn't hit. I mean, Donovan was three
- 26:59Speaker 3: for twenty two, Burlison was two for twenty and this
- 27:04Speaker 3: is plus. Actually you can add Donovan one for three
- 27:07Speaker 3: on Sunday night. Mason Winn did not hit. He was
- 27:11Speaker 3: one for fourteen in these games that I referred to,
- 27:13Speaker 3: Newt bar two for fourteen, and it goes right on
- 27:18Speaker 3: down the list.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I don't mean to bore you all with numbers, but
- 27:20Speaker 4: the guys, it's tough when you don't have iron Ado.
- 27:23Speaker 4: It's really tough.
- 27:23Speaker 3: You don't have an era and you didn't have a
- 27:25Speaker 3: one hundred percent Wilson of Cheris. But these other players
- 27:28Speaker 3: are in the lineup for a reason because they're supposed
- 27:30Speaker 3: to be able to hit, and they can't disappear when
- 27:33Speaker 3: it gets tough. And this is not a character thing.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I'm not implying that, but maybe this is the limitation
- 27:41Speaker 3: of this offense. Maybe the offense is what it is.
- 27:43Speaker 3: When they're good, they score twelve runs. When they're bad,
- 27:46Speaker 3: they're really bad. You know, the Cardinals are sixteen and
- 27:49Speaker 3: nineteen since May the thirtieth, right, and in fifteen fifteen
- 27:55Speaker 3: of their last nineteen losses. Since made the thirtieth nineteen losses,
- 28:00Speaker 3: they've scored.
- 28:01Speaker 4: No more than two runs, So.
- 28:06Speaker 3: You know, I mean, no wonder they have a losing record.
- 28:10Speaker 3: You know, during that time, you got two rotation pieces
- 28:14Speaker 3: that are terrible, and you have a lot of your
- 28:17Speaker 3: key guys not really doing anything, not that much, you know,
- 28:21Speaker 3: So that part's got to turn around because there's no one. Yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 3: Herrero will be back after the All Star break and
- 28:26Speaker 3: he'll come to the rescue to a point, but that's
- 28:28Speaker 3: a ways off, still a little ways off. So but
- 28:32Speaker 3: these other guys need to step it up a little
- 28:33Speaker 3: bit and listen. They would be the first to tell
- 28:35Speaker 3: you that, you know, so.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Up, it's an accountable group. It is an accountable group.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I will will I've said that from the start, and
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's really coming to show now as I think the
- 28:45Speaker 1: Cardinals go through a real tough kind of two weeks
- 28:49Speaker 1: of adversity. Here some injury updates that will hopefully help
- 28:52Speaker 1: the offense. Again, we talked about Arnado von Herrera. John
- 28:56Speaker 1: Mozello said on Friday is about a week and a
- 28:57Speaker 1: half away from starting a rehab assignment. So that's a
- 29:00Speaker 1: little bit sooner than I am my projection of when
- 29:03Speaker 1: he would return, and he is a candidate to return
- 29:05Speaker 1: to the lineup after the All Star break. Jordan Walker
- 29:09Speaker 1: is doing some extended work in Springfield.
- 29:12Speaker 2: The reason that the Cardinals.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Chose Springfield over Memphis is because of the instructors down
- 29:16Speaker 1: in Springfield, and I think there's some overall just better
- 29:18Speaker 1: facilities down there.
- 29:19Speaker 2: At the moment. And as Jordan Walker works back.
- 29:21Speaker 1: From pendicitis, he's also taking some time to really break
- 29:24Speaker 1: down some swing changes that they've made, work on some
- 29:27Speaker 1: approach things. This is the time to do it for
- 29:29Speaker 1: Jordan Walker because with the Cardinals need to produce desperately offensively.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You bring him back in and he's trying to fix
- 29:34Speaker 1: his swing at the major league level, it's not going
- 29:37Speaker 1: to go well. So take some extra time in the miners.
- 29:39Speaker 1: There's no rush to bring him up on your injury
- 29:42Speaker 1: rehab assignment. Work with the hitting coaches down in Springfield.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Hitting coordinator restein Horn does a really nice job down there,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and work your way back in. So this is kind
- 29:52Speaker 1: of a favorable break for Jordan Walker and the Cardinals
- 29:55Speaker 1: right now.
- 29:56Speaker 2: And yeah, hopefully those two right handers get back soon.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Cardinals, as we've talked about, Bernie not super great against lefties,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I mean not board just again got right through them.
- 30:07Speaker 1: So I haven't checked the probables for the Nationals. I
- 30:11Speaker 1: don't really know if they have any idea what's.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Going on right well, they just fired they fired the
- 30:15Speaker 3: GM and the manager today.
- 30:17Speaker 2: So oh hey, it could always be worse.
- 30:21Speaker 1: The Nationals, of course, have the number one pick in
- 30:23Speaker 1: the MLB Draft in six days and don't have a
- 30:26Speaker 1: general manager or a manager. They actually haven't even announced
- 30:29Speaker 1: the interim manager yet.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I think they're going to get there, they hope.
- 30:32Speaker 1: So if we're going to leave on a funny ha
- 30:35Speaker 1: ha note, obviously they've never find people lose their jobs.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But at least they're not the Nationals today, right, at
- 30:41Speaker 1: least they're not the Nationals.
- 30:42Speaker 4: At least they're not the Nationals and going forward.
- 30:46Speaker 3: You know, it's so imperative. I don't and the cause
- 30:48Speaker 3: you mentioned the draft, it's so imperative. Like whoever the
- 30:51Speaker 3: Cardinals draft. Let's say they draft an offensive player. The
- 30:55Speaker 3: Cardinals need some dudes. They don't have dudes. They have
- 30:59Speaker 3: good they have a few really good players, they don't
- 31:02Speaker 3: have dudes.
- 31:04Speaker 4: When they walk to the plate.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Everyone, if you're if they're in the other if they're
- 31:08Speaker 3: on the road, they're in one of the divisions social
- 31:10Speaker 3: division places guy walks and walks to the plate.
- 31:12Speaker 4: There's two guys on. There's almost like a murmur in
- 31:15Speaker 4: the crowd because he's a dude. It's like, this guy's
- 31:18Speaker 4: really dangerous.
- 31:19Speaker 3: No disrespect to all the Cardinals, but there's very little
- 31:22Speaker 3: danger in their lineup. They're just is and they're way
- 31:24Speaker 3: too inconsistent. The Cardinals need dudes. I've covered this team
- 31:28Speaker 3: since nineteen eighty five. They've always had dudes. They do
- 31:32Speaker 3: not have dudes anymore. They have they have some good players,
- 31:37Speaker 3: but good players don't do it. Look at the Cubs
- 31:40Speaker 3: elite players. Elite players.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Gets me fired up, and the Cardinals don't have a
- 31:46Speaker 1: star like that, and it's disappointed. It's not to say
- 31:48Speaker 1: they can't draft and develop one. They used to do
- 31:50Speaker 1: a very good job in doing so, obviously, but it
- 31:53Speaker 1: was really evident to me.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Bernie.
- 31:54Speaker 1: First of all, I think Rhythmfield's quick side comment is
- 31:57Speaker 1: my favorite place to watch a game is it was
- 32:00Speaker 1: such an engaging crowd environment. Holiday weekend Cardinals Cubs. Cubs
- 32:05Speaker 1: are playing some fantastic baseball. And every time I watch
- 32:08Speaker 1: Pete pro Armstrong come in to play, and I guess,
- 32:10Speaker 1: Michael Bush he's a guy. I guess, Yeah, took him
- 32:13Speaker 1: out all series. But Pete Crow Armstrong fires up the
- 32:16Speaker 1: crowd like no other. And it's been a while since
- 32:19Speaker 1: the Cubs had that kind of player. The Cardinals too,
- 32:23Speaker 1: they really need to develop a star, I.
- 32:26Speaker 6: Know.
- 32:26Speaker 3: And you just real quick you look at the Cubs
- 32:28Speaker 3: and Suzuki's having a great year, just a great year,
- 32:32Speaker 3: and Pete Crow arm songs outstay. Michael Young is one
- 32:35Speaker 3: of the best players in baseball. And you know, one
- 32:37Speaker 3: of the one of the things is when you have
- 32:39Speaker 3: a couple of dudes, then it's easier for someone else
- 32:42Speaker 3: to become a dude. And say, what are you talking about?
- 32:43Speaker 3: You're using the word dude too much. Well, you know,
- 32:47Speaker 3: if you've got Michael Young in your lineup, not Michael Young,
- 32:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry you you know you have him the dude
- 32:53Speaker 3: from Hugh Tucker, Kyle Tucker.
- 32:55Speaker 4: What I'm saying, Michael Young, it's late, Katie. What can
- 32:57Speaker 4: I says? I'm grad You know, when you when you
- 33:01Speaker 4: have you know, Michael Young, and then you know you.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Kyle, we are falling apart. It's okay.
- 33:08Speaker 3: When you have Kyle Tucker, you go get in. That
- 33:12Speaker 3: makes it easier.
- 33:13Speaker 4: And Pete crow Armstrong, right, it just takes some of
- 33:15Speaker 4: the pressure off.
- 33:16Speaker 3: And then with with Pete prow Armstrong and and Kyle
- 33:19Speaker 3: Tucker just just absurdly great this year. That takes some
- 33:25Speaker 3: of the heat off of Suzuki, and so he's relaxed.
- 33:28Speaker 3: He's like, well, I don't have to be the guy,
- 33:31Speaker 3: and all of a sudden he's driven into with seventy
- 33:34Speaker 3: five seventy six runs.
- 33:35Speaker 2: He's the guy.
- 33:36Speaker 3: So he's become a dude because he didn't have to
- 33:39Speaker 3: be the dude. They got two other dudes. It makes
- 33:42Speaker 3: it easier for him to be Okay, I'll be the
- 33:44Speaker 3: third dude. The pressure's off, you know. So there's a
- 33:47Speaker 3: psychological component to this. And next time we do Cardinal Territory,
- 33:51Speaker 3: I'll make sure I get the note, I'll get the
- 33:52Speaker 3: players name straight.
- 33:54Speaker 4: But what can I say this?
- 33:56Speaker 1: We all know what the standards are for the show,
- 33:58Speaker 1: are okay, right right, eleven PM on Sunday night, Sunday
- 34:03Speaker 1: Night Baseball. I do I do love anytime the car
- 34:06Speaker 1: was on primetime Sunday Night Baseball on the final night
- 34:09Speaker 1: of a ten game three city trip followed by what
- 34:13Speaker 1: howur Raindoway and then a three hour and ten in
- 34:15Speaker 1: a game.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I'm out. I'm out on that.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Thank goodness, there is an off date tomorrow because I'm
- 34:22Speaker 1: on fumes.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Even May I told I touched his Mason wo was
- 34:26Speaker 4: cracking me up.
- 34:27Speaker 3: He was, he was ESPN micd him up. And he
- 34:30Speaker 3: had the fifth inning where they scored all those runs.
- 34:32Speaker 3: And so the fifth inning, I'm exaggerating on purpose, that
- 34:35Speaker 3: fifth inning, that bottom of the fifth lasted like two hours.
- 34:39Speaker 4: And so when Mason wentz talking to these.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Guys the entire time, so it was right before the
- 34:43Speaker 3: final batter, and Mason went said, he says bad pace,
- 34:49Speaker 3: bad pace, you know, you know.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Kid, talking about how slow the game was moving.
- 34:54Speaker 3: And I think Cale, you know, Carl raviits said you
- 34:59Speaker 3: said it, you know, like we didn't say it.
- 35:01Speaker 4: You said it, you know.
- 35:02Speaker 3: But I think Mason Win spoke for ever anybody watching
- 35:06Speaker 3: that game certainly.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Spoke for the writers up with the good old press box.
- 35:10Speaker 1: All the story for this podcast episode. Cubs during a
- 35:13Speaker 1: lot of things, right, Cardinals not so much. Saint Louis
- 35:15Speaker 1: can change its course with a conversation about the rotation. Uh,
- 35:20Speaker 1: and they should, in my opinion, make those changes. It's
- 35:24Speaker 1: Michael McGreevey time. It's it's been that if you want
- 35:27Speaker 1: to compete and you want to give this team or
- 35:29Speaker 1: the span base something to be energized about the rest
- 35:32Speaker 1: of the season in August and September. If you are
- 35:34Speaker 1: going to go out there and say how you play
- 35:36Speaker 1: in July is going to dictate you buy or sell.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Put your best possible chance to win every day in
- 35:43Speaker 1: July and play like it. It really is not that difficult,
- 35:48Speaker 1: So just do it, all right?
- 35:52Speaker 4: They got it. Yeah, it's time to shake it up
- 35:54Speaker 4: that way.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Absolutely, It's time.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Was that for you and I to maybe decompressed, calm down, meditate.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I don't know, but I do know that we'll be
- 36:04Speaker 1: back for three episodes before the All Star Breaks, Slash
- 36:08Speaker 1: Draft a lot to talk about. I'll be with you
- 36:11Speaker 1: guys for a trade deadline update from my conversations with
- 36:13Speaker 1: John Mosailock over the weekend, and then Brittan that will
- 36:15Speaker 1: help break down three games against the Nationals and three
- 36:18Speaker 1: games against the Braves, and we went back to it
- 36:20Speaker 1: Cardinals fans, get some sleep, flush this one if you can.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And before we go, a huge shout out once more,
- 36:26Speaker 1: congratulations to the Cardinals National League All Star pick Brendan Donovan.
- 36:31Speaker 2: What a deserving guy.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Just thrilled for him and his family to be able
- 36:36Speaker 1: to experience this at Truce Park. So deserving, such a
- 36:40Speaker 1: great season, such a great do shout out Brendan Donovan.
- 36:43Speaker 2: There are we going in on something positive on what
- 36:44Speaker 2: was it?
- 36:44Speaker 4: Very good job?
- 36:47Speaker 1: All right, Cardinal Territory fans, we will talk to you
- 36:50Speaker 1: next week for Bernie.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I'm Katie.
- 36:53Speaker 4: See ya, yeah,
