  Speaker 1: for a minute and listen to God. That's what it

  Speaker 1: means to read God's word, the Bible, with your heart

  Speaker 1: and mind open to Him. It's listening to God, and

  Speaker 1: it's an amazing thing, isn't it, that God is paying
• 0:27
  Speaker 1: attention to you personally.

  Speaker 1: You know, some people, if they hear something like that,

  Speaker 1: it makes them a bit nervous. What? God is watching me.

  Speaker 1: He notices what I'm doing? Yes, he does. But that's
• 0:38
  Speaker 1: not a thing to be afraid of. It's a thing
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: to embrace because the God who's paying attention to you

  Speaker 1: and your life is a God who loves you intensely,

  Speaker 1: who wants the best for you, who understands your brokenness

  Speaker 1: The problems that brings in your life and the baggage

  Speaker 1: you carry from hard experiences in your life, he knows

  Speaker 1: and understands all of that, and he's reaching out to

  Speaker 1: you saying, let me be involved in your life because
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: I am the one who created humanity, and I am
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: the one who can bring healing and wholeness into your
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: life as you give your life to me and invite
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: me to chart the course of your life. You will
• 1:20
  Speaker 1: find me at work.

  Speaker 1: Making your life all that I intended it to be.

  Speaker 1: Well, this week we're talking about giving God our time.

  Speaker 1: And we're working from a passage in James chapter 4,
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: starting in verse 13. Let me just read you 4
• 1:38
  Speaker 1: verses out of James.

  Speaker 1: God says, come now, you who say today or tomorrow
• 1:45
  Speaker 1: we will go to such and such a town and
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: spend a year there and trade and make a profit,
• 1:50
  Speaker 1: yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: is your life, for you are a mist that appears
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: to say, if the Lord wills, we will live and
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: do this or that as it is.

  Speaker 1: You boast in your arrogance, and all such boasting is evil, so.

  Speaker 1: Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: do it, for him it is sin. Sin means you're
• 2:27
  Speaker 1: not doing what God wants you to do in life,
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: and you need to correct that.

  Speaker 1: Well, uh, the challenge of this passage, isn't it, is
• 2:38
  Speaker 1: to use your time for the things that matter to God.

  Speaker 1: To him who knows the right thing to do and
• 2:48
  Speaker 1: fails to do it, to him that is sin, God says,

  Speaker 1: pay attention to what you're doing with the time you
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: have in your life. Do what's right.

  Speaker 1: Do what's right because what you do with the time

  Speaker 1: that is so temporary, fleeting, and brief, the time you

  Speaker 1: have in this world, what you do.

  Speaker 1: With the things that you do in this time has

  Speaker 1: an impact on eternity.

  Speaker 1: Right, the things of God are the things that have
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: to do with eternity. What do you do with your
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: time in this life that is for God?
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: That has an impact on eternity. What is your relationship
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: with the people in your life? God wants to work
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: through that. How can you spend time with them in
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: a way that encourages them to focus on spiritual things
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: and their relationship with God? How can you help people
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: set the priorities in their lives, whether it's your children
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: or friends that you have?
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: To help them focus their lives on the things that
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: matter to God. After all, if we're here for just
• 4:07
  Speaker 1: a little while like a mist.
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: And then we finish our time in this world and
• 4:14
  Speaker 1: in these bodies and we go to be with the Lord.

  Speaker 1: Isn't the thing that will matter to us for all
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: eternity so much more important than the brief things of
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: this world? So let's focus our lives on those things,
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: and this is what God is encouraging you to do
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: as you go into today, right? This is not just
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: abstract about your whole life. It's about today.
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: What in your life today do you know that God
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: wants you to do?
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: Then do it.
• 4:49
