- 1:40Speaker 4: we've been talking on and off throughout the day, texting
- 1:45Speaker 4: back and forth about the show, and I've already said
- 1:53Speaker 4: that I'm going to go on a little bit of
- 1:54Speaker 4: a ram before we get into the show, all right.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Which we couldn't believe it could we all were.
- 2:04Speaker 2: See.
- 2:05Speaker 4: See, I say nice things about both of you.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Come at me, all right, So I want I want
- 2:15Speaker 2: parents to understand.
- 2:19Speaker 4: What your role is when it comes to you sports, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 4: because I think you sports should be fun, and there
- 2:31Speaker 4: are chances and times in situations where kids win or lose,
- 2:36Speaker 4: and and and when they lose big games, it's it's
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's challenging because they they they like everybody, everybody wants
- 2:44Speaker 4: to win. But when you get in the situation to
- 2:48Speaker 4: where you have officials wanting to leave the game, mm hmmm, uhh.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That's too much. And that's been a problem nationally too.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Yes, because nationally this is so I'm not I'm not
- 2:59Speaker 4: talking specifically local, but I'm I'm just talking from curl
- 3:03Speaker 4: lee and and somebody who's been in sports his entire
- 3:06Speaker 4: life and trying to picture and watch this these things
- 3:13Speaker 4: in front of me. You know, it's like it's like Lisa,
- 3:16Speaker 4: you you being a reading specialist, and you hear somebody
- 3:19Speaker 4: read and you're like, oh, wow, I'm gonna need a
- 3:22Speaker 4: lot of work here, you know, Hollisice, you in the
- 3:25Speaker 4: political realm, you know, there's things that come up you're like, wow,
- 3:28Speaker 4: you know, but there's some things that all of a
- 3:31Speaker 4: sudden is so big that you're like, I've never seen this.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I've been in sports all my life and and and
- 3:38Speaker 4: I I've never seen I've never felt uncomfortable in the
- 3:45Speaker 4: setting of people. And what I mean by that is
- 3:49Speaker 4: people who are specifically just wanting to create drama.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:55Speaker 5: And for those kids.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Exactly, the language that you use speaks volumes. There's nothing
- 4:05Speaker 4: you then it can say about anything that the officials
- 4:11Speaker 4: can do. Officials can't do anything so drastic that you
- 4:15Speaker 4: if you're dropping F bombs.
- 4:18Speaker 5: There's a problem at a at a youth game.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I mean, you're wrong, yeah, And we can't be so
- 4:27Speaker 4: angry at youth sports.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's development, isn't it? But is it is it anger
- 4:34Speaker 2: or are people enamored with winning? Mmmm? Well, it can
- 4:39Speaker 2: all call.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I think, I think, I think, I think it is
- 4:43Speaker 4: about winning. But again it if we're not winning, it's
- 4:49Speaker 4: where are we put in the blame? How many times?
- 4:54Speaker 4: How many times? Coaching at State? Well, I say, we
- 4:56Speaker 4: don't talk to the officials every game, every game? Why
- 5:01Speaker 4: because they're not going to change it.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Let me talk to the ficials, which I remember you, yes,
- 5:07Speaker 6: let me talk to you. Don't talk because.
- 5:08Speaker 4: There's no reason because if you approach them in the
- 5:11Speaker 4: wrong way.
- 5:12Speaker 5: You're just gonna get another You're likely.
- 5:15Speaker 6: To get another penalty, or you're not or you're likely
- 5:18Speaker 6: not to get that call or the call that you
- 5:20Speaker 6: because everybody is human, right.
- 5:22Speaker 4: And and a call that you see on the field,
- 5:25Speaker 4: let me let me clar make sure I'm very clear.
- 5:28Speaker 4: A play that you see on the field, and you
- 5:31Speaker 4: see it one way, you are not at the angle
- 5:35Speaker 4: that the that the official is at that called it.
- 5:39Speaker 4: The point he could be wrong, but he has an
- 5:42Speaker 4: angle that will show up better to him than you
- 5:48Speaker 4: and the bleachers. And when you cannot.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Let me ask you this, do you think as far
- 5:57Speaker 6: as that is concerned, is that, Like I said, are
- 6:00Speaker 6: people enamored with winning?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Do they hate losing?
- 6:02Speaker 6: Or is it just like maybe a total lack of
- 6:05Speaker 6: respect for the position. Do you think it's like people
- 6:10Speaker 6: just don't respect authority how maybe they once did.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I think it's a place to have blame. I think
- 6:16Speaker 4: it's a place to be able to put blame, whether
- 6:19Speaker 4: it's your team that's not playing well, you're losing, and
- 6:23Speaker 4: I think at the end of the day, what you're
- 6:25Speaker 4: doing is you're trying your best to take the blame,
- 6:29Speaker 4: to put the blame somewhere else, why you're not winning,
- 6:32Speaker 4: why that other team is beating you.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And I just and.
- 6:39Speaker 7: Let me just intercede this. Do you not feel like
- 6:41Speaker 7: that sports, whether it's little league, collegiate level, high school,
- 6:46Speaker 7: it's just a reflection of society in general. And I
- 6:49Speaker 7: feel like society in general. And I'm going to bring
- 6:52Speaker 7: up social media again and I'm not trying to demonize it,
- 6:55Speaker 7: but I do feel like with social media and the
- 6:58Speaker 7: access to it and the way people can can interact
- 7:01Speaker 7: with each other on social media without ramifications immediately back
- 7:06Speaker 7: that maybe that that's carried over to everyday life, and
- 7:09Speaker 7: it includes little league, Little League football.
- 7:12Speaker 4: That's actually a good point, it is, I know, and
- 7:14Speaker 4: again not to just say football, but baseball is having
- 7:17Speaker 4: the same thing with like that they can't find umpires basketball.
- 7:20Speaker 4: So every sport pretty much at youth level to high school,
- 7:23Speaker 4: they're all hurting for referees because of that.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And I think you actually got it. You probably hit
- 7:27Speaker 2: the net on the head.
- 7:28Speaker 6: Social media people feel like they can just say anything
- 7:30Speaker 6: anyway they want to, and the and their thoughts can
- 7:32Speaker 6: be broadcasted without the ramifications.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Well, and there were folks on on on Facebook talking
- 7:41Speaker 4: about that situation, you know that I'm not naming it,
- 7:45Speaker 4: that they're talking about that situation, which forced the president
- 7:49Speaker 4: of the league to step in and start talking about like, hey,
- 7:54Speaker 4: you're not going to be able to go to this
- 7:56Speaker 4: game or that.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Game, you know, and that just carries out, This carries over.
- 8:01Speaker 6: And unfortunately is I think we're at a point now where,
- 8:03Speaker 6: particularly like in the U sports, where parents have a
- 8:06Speaker 6: little bit more access and freedom to rome, that that's
- 8:09Speaker 6: gonna have to be policed from here on out. You know,
- 8:12Speaker 6: some like high school parents are here, players are there,
- 8:16Speaker 6: so it's gonna have to be something today. I know,
- 8:18Speaker 6: when we talk to Chris Kessel and West Side Soccer,
- 8:20Speaker 6: they kind of have rules and policies for parents, and unfortunately,
- 8:25Speaker 6: I think that's where we have to go in those situations,
- 8:27Speaker 6: and it's almost gonna have to be almost like a law,
- 8:30Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying, right and and and I'll
- 8:33Speaker 6: say this sometimes what you have to realize as a
- 8:38Speaker 6: parent in a game that when your when your child loses,
- 8:45Speaker 6: I don't care what the game is.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I don't care if it's championship or just the regular game.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Your child has lost. There is a lesson now that
- 8:53Speaker 4: you can you can step into and teach. But the
- 8:58Speaker 4: problem is if you are you aren't creating another problem.
- 9:04Speaker 4: If you're a loser, if you're a bad loser, you're
- 9:07Speaker 4: not helping your son.
- 9:08Speaker 6: But I think people don't understand the important of the
- 9:11Speaker 6: value in taking losses, right, you know Napoleon Hill he
- 9:15Speaker 6: says with every adversity is an equivalent seed of opportunity
- 9:18Speaker 6: and success. And I think a lot of times people
- 9:21Speaker 6: just don't understand that if you lost or this thing
- 9:24Speaker 6: didn't work out, there is an opportunity in that. And
- 9:28Speaker 6: I think, like I said, I think to me, a
- 9:31Speaker 6: lot of parents, a lot of this generation just just
- 9:33Speaker 6: enamored with winning. So it's winning at all costs. And
- 9:36Speaker 6: I think that's reflective. We talked to Nause about the
- 9:39Speaker 6: transfer a portal, we're talking about We're gonna talk about
- 9:41Speaker 6: some stuff even in the NFL that maybe even reflects
- 9:44Speaker 6: just that sentiment that people have and not understanding that
- 9:48Speaker 6: there's power in anything that you do, even a loss,
- 9:51Speaker 6: if you have the right perspective.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and and shifting right into you're an NFL player, Oh,
- 10:04Speaker 4: you're an NFL player and you're in this heated game,
- 10:11Speaker 4: this game that's you know, that's it's coming down to
- 10:16Speaker 4: a single play.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Hail Mary, Hell Mary.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Plat Washington Command absolutely, And who were you talking to?
- 10:27Speaker 4: You were turned and looking at in the bleachers, talking
- 10:31Speaker 4: to fans or or the other teams fans, causing them as.
- 10:37Speaker 2: If you have won the game.
- 10:38Speaker 4: And in most cases there's a lot of chance that
- 10:40Speaker 4: you should be that you could say you could you're
- 10:43Speaker 4: gonna win this game, Hell Mary. Is a hard thing
- 10:46Speaker 4: to do, all right, but it happens. Yeah to me,
- 10:52Speaker 4: that is that is like, shut up, dude, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: And I.
- 10:59Speaker 6: Believe he actually he didn't make the play, but actually
- 11:02Speaker 6: he was the one who tipped the ball, and I
- 11:05Speaker 6: think I.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Think it was it was it was all kind of
- 11:08Speaker 4: scrambled up in there, but I think he was the
- 11:10Speaker 4: guy who actually hit it in the air, who made
- 11:13Speaker 4: contact with the bass which sent it in the air,
- 11:15Speaker 4: and so so has the dB.
- 11:18Speaker 6: You're like, what are you thinking? Hell, Mary, time is
- 11:21Speaker 6: a dB. I know what I'm thinking. As a quarterback.
- 11:23Speaker 4: What the first thing that I'm doing is I'm not
- 11:26Speaker 4: even looking at the fan.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not talking to him. I'm not talking.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I'm trying to make sure all the team, all the
- 11:34Speaker 4: guys in the secondary, we know what's coming. So I'm saying, like, specifically,
- 11:39Speaker 4: what are your what are the instructions that your DC
- 11:41Speaker 4: is giving you be the deepest of the deepest.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:45Speaker 4: And when the ball, everybody's jumping and everybody's swiping the
- 11:49Speaker 4: ball down, like it's like, if you can get to
- 11:52Speaker 4: the ball, don't try to make the interception.
- 11:54Speaker 2: What you're trying to do is knock the ball to
- 11:56Speaker 2: the ground.
- 11:58Speaker 4: So you're gonna have at least three guys in the back,
- 12:01Speaker 4: two guys in the front, two guys side by side. Yeah, okay,
- 12:06Speaker 4: and everybody's jumping to knock the ball down.
- 12:11Speaker 7: But you were there. You're there in that area when
- 12:13Speaker 7: the play snaps, You're there, you're focus time. Did you
- 12:18Speaker 7: notice how he kind of delayed, like he was over there.
- 12:21Speaker 7: It was almost like he was a split second late
- 12:24Speaker 7: getting to the play.
- 12:25Speaker 2: That was my point, Yes, because he was so key.
- 12:29Speaker 7: You know, doing things and aggravating the fans that he
- 12:33Speaker 7: I don't think he really thought that hal Mary had
- 12:35Speaker 7: any chance at all, right, and when he saw that it,
- 12:38Speaker 7: oh wow, this is really coming to these guys.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Didn't you think he kind of was hesitant even like
- 12:43Speaker 4: when like like he was confused, like, well, oh wait.
- 12:46Speaker 5: A minute, wait a minute, this might happen.
- 12:48Speaker 7: This is happening, and then he starts to run toward
- 12:50Speaker 7: the point exactly.
- 12:51Speaker 5: That's why.
- 12:54Speaker 2: He was the guy.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Watched right before the play like he's kind of like.
- 12:58Speaker 7: I think he gives the finger to he's doing all
- 13:03Speaker 7: the things.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah, he's really Again, I think he's a guy because
- 13:07Speaker 4: he's out of position at this time, because to your point,
- 13:09Speaker 4: he wasn't the deepest of the deep, so he was
- 13:12Speaker 4: out by him. He was on the other side, and
- 13:17Speaker 4: it was him he tipped the ball up, so again,
- 13:20Speaker 4: had he been the deepest of the been in position,
- 13:23Speaker 4: he probably either makes an easy PIX or makes an
- 13:25Speaker 4: easy PV.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He's too he's too involved into the fan base.
- 13:32Speaker 7: And here's the other part, and it kind of goes back, Carl,
- 13:34Speaker 7: to what you were saying about youth football and not
- 13:36Speaker 7: taking responsibility for your your behavior after a loss. What
- 13:40Speaker 7: did he say at the press or was the problem?
- 13:42Speaker 7: He didn't say.
- 13:43Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 13:43Speaker 7: He didn't say, oh, I was over there, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 7: messing with fans and not really focused on the game.
- 13:48Speaker 5: He said what he was tired? Basically, is that what
- 13:53Speaker 5: you know?
- 13:53Speaker 2: That that's that's a that's another situation.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Okay, did he take responsibility for it?
- 13:59Speaker 2: I have not heard that.
- 14:00Speaker 7: That's something that I like, Yeah, because that's a part
- 14:05Speaker 7: of loss, like being able to admit when you're wrong.
- 14:08Speaker 4: But where do you think? What should what should? We
- 14:10Speaker 4: have already heard to.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Me old school?
- 14:14Speaker 4: The head coach has already come out and straight up said, son,
- 14:20Speaker 4: you're he's on probation, he's fine, he's something.
- 14:23Speaker 2: He's off the team. He's something. You can't pete him
- 14:26Speaker 2: off the team. Now, that's extreme.
- 14:28Speaker 5: It's sustained.
- 14:30Speaker 4: You don't think you don't you don't think that play
- 14:32Speaker 4: was extreme. I mean, okay, I give you the play
- 14:34Speaker 4: was extreme, but I mean it's one play. I mean
- 14:36Speaker 4: he could be reprimanded practice maybe find something like that,
- 14:40Speaker 4: but I don't, I don't know we go to that
- 14:42Speaker 4: ain't no fine, there's no fine. That's gonna hurt any
- 14:46Speaker 4: NFL player exactly know.
- 14:49Speaker 2: You can you can take the game.
- 14:52Speaker 5: It was yeah, the commander, it.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Cost you a game.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Now, now, now what if you don't make the playoffs
- 14:58Speaker 4: and that was the game, that's the game, or you're
- 15:01Speaker 4: one game short.
- 15:02Speaker 6: I just I'm just having a hard time, Like I
- 15:05Speaker 6: just can't be how unfocused he was on that play,
- 15:10Speaker 6: just like your thought process to even go do something
- 15:13Speaker 6: like well, let's just and his back was turned like
- 15:15Speaker 6: so as the plays actually beginning and the receivers are running,
- 15:20Speaker 6: he's still like talking to them.
- 15:21Speaker 4: He turns and it is like confused of like where
- 15:23Speaker 4: he needs to go, which is to the other side
- 15:26Speaker 4: of the field. Because I'm because it seems to me
- 15:29Speaker 4: when you look at it, the hell Mary is on
- 15:30Speaker 4: the other side, it's away from him. So I'm thinking
- 15:34Speaker 4: because he's thinking that the hell mayor is going to
- 15:36Speaker 4: be quote to the wide side.
- 15:38Speaker 2: He's on the short side.
- 15:39Speaker 4: He's talking to these fans, trying to do something to
- 15:42Speaker 4: make what point to them?
- 15:44Speaker 2: And now.
- 15:46Speaker 4: What example is he in the team? Like, come on,
- 15:52Speaker 4: I'm at least I'm gonna ask this question. I'm gonna
- 15:55Speaker 4: ask this question. Extreme thing happens to a to a
- 16:00Speaker 4: kid that is struggling to read right and and another teacher,
- 16:06Speaker 4: a teacher then comes in and critiques this kid in
- 16:10Speaker 4: a drastic kind of way to kind of hurt their feelings.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Right, are you keeping them? Are you keeping that teacher?
- 16:19Speaker 5: Well, I mean professionally, I don't really have that power.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I know, but I'm just saying, just as an example.
- 16:25Speaker 7: I think I may take them to the side and say, look,
- 16:28Speaker 7: you know, the way you approach this student was a
- 16:30Speaker 7: little harsh. Maybe in the future, you know. I think
- 16:34Speaker 7: if what you're trying to ask me is in the
- 16:36Speaker 7: in the in the case of the coach and the player,
- 16:39Speaker 7: I do think he needs to be reprimanded in some
- 16:41Speaker 7: way and probably publicly.
- 16:44Speaker 4: See And again, I guess I guess when I think
- 16:47Speaker 4: about it, I think about it from an old school
- 16:49Speaker 4: kind of thing, like I see it like there are
- 16:52Speaker 4: certain types of things that maybe are simple and normal,
- 16:56Speaker 4: because this is that what he did is not normal.
- 16:59Speaker 5: So how many years in the league does he have.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I mean, if he's a Brookie, he's definitely not a no.
- 17:05Speaker 4: And he didn't necessarily apologize. I think he was explaining
- 17:08Speaker 4: the situation. He said that he was actually talking to
- 17:12Speaker 4: like cheering with Bear fans, and he said his job
- 17:16Speaker 4: was to just box out one of the receivers, but
- 17:18Speaker 4: he ended up making a play and knocking it up,
- 17:20Speaker 4: so he didn't necessarily apologize. I don't know if he
- 17:22Speaker 4: actually took uh, you know, accountability for his action. Let
- 17:28Speaker 4: me ask you both this question. I do that I
- 17:31Speaker 4: cost us a game. I'm coming into the locker room
- 17:35Speaker 4: when you're not feeling a certain kind of way.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I think all of them definitely.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I think you see what I'm saying right Like, if
- 17:40Speaker 4: you actually saw it or you saw it thereafter, you're like, man,
- 17:44Speaker 4: what do you think?
- 17:45Speaker 7: But is he typically I mean, this is something else
- 17:47Speaker 7: you want to look at too. You'd have to look
- 17:48Speaker 7: at his past history. Is he typically a showboter? Is
- 17:51Speaker 7: he somebody that is known for that type of behavior
- 17:53Speaker 7: at the end of games or during the game, for
- 17:56Speaker 7: that matter. Is he a talker you know what I
- 17:57Speaker 7: mean with other players, which I know all players are
- 18:00Speaker 7: to a degree, But is he one that really is
- 18:02Speaker 7: animated and gets the team in trouble with penalties for
- 18:05Speaker 7: doing that that sort of thing.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Okay, what I understand this, This is how I understand it.
- 18:11Speaker 2: This is how I kind of have been taught and
- 18:13Speaker 2: and kind of learned.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Right, all right, So I got an opportunity to go
- 18:18Speaker 4: one on one with Jerry Rice twice a year for
- 18:21Speaker 4: a few years, back to back. Okay, I'm not going
- 18:25Speaker 4: to get up there and say something negative about him
- 18:30Speaker 4: or even try to talk an he smack to him?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Why because I know I.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Don't need to give him any more reason to want
- 18:40Speaker 4: to work any more harder to beat me now. But
- 18:44Speaker 4: I say, that's probably not your game, and that's in
- 18:46Speaker 4: talking smack is different than I think. What this guy
- 18:49Speaker 4: was doing, I would say, is old school coaches. You
- 18:53Speaker 4: say his head wasn't in the game.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Okay, there, I will get the game.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I will give you that.
- 19:01Speaker 4: This is a difference. We talked it's man going back
- 19:03Speaker 4: and forth, but he wasn't. But here's the thing. One
- 19:07Speaker 4: of the things Bud Grant used to say all the
- 19:09Speaker 4: time for us, the fans aren't there. Yeah, and general general,
- 19:14Speaker 4: you don't hear him or see him.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You space, you put him out of your mind.
- 19:20Speaker 4: He's sitting with them basically what he's he's talking and
- 19:25Speaker 4: waving him off and doing all that.
- 19:27Speaker 5: And I don't think he was interacting with Bears fans.
- 19:29Speaker 5: I think it was. I think, I mean that's.
- 19:31Speaker 7: What he said that he wasn't like, you know, cheering
- 19:34Speaker 7: and classing.
- 19:35Speaker 2: It was.
- 19:35Speaker 5: It was not that type of being, not that, not
- 19:38Speaker 5: at all.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And then this.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Comes down on you, you know, so trying to make
- 19:45Speaker 4: this into the case of.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It's ignorant.
- 19:49Speaker 4: To me, it's it has nothing to do with team.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And to me, I can't I don't know now how
- 19:58Speaker 2: I can trust.
- 19:59Speaker 6: You well, speaking of trust, speaking of trust, Okay, my
- 20:04Speaker 6: man Anthony was an Anthony Richardson, a quarterback from the
- 20:08Speaker 6: Indianapolis coach. He checks himself out of the game with
- 20:12Speaker 6: the excuse that I'm tired now again.
- 20:17Speaker 4: We talk about we talk about literally parents, we talk
- 20:21Speaker 4: about my guys Chicago. I have never ever, ever seen
- 20:27Speaker 4: a quarterback ever do that. And you know the position,
- 20:32Speaker 4: you know kind of what your team needs, out of you.
- 20:34Speaker 4: This isn't a fluid position where we can just hey,
- 20:37Speaker 4: bringing the next guy, because supposedly, if I'm the starter,
- 20:40Speaker 4: I'm significantly probably better than the backup in some capacities.
- 20:44Speaker 4: And being a quarterback, you're the natural leader of the offense,
- 20:47Speaker 4: natural leader of the team, and it's kind of based
- 20:50Speaker 4: around you, kind of the game plan, right, And I
- 20:53Speaker 4: just don't know what that says for I think he's
- 20:55Speaker 4: a second year of quarterback. To to do something like that,
- 20:58Speaker 4: that's just mind blowing to me, Lisa.
- 21:02Speaker 7: I just think it's mind blowing that any NFL player
- 21:05Speaker 7: would have the audacity to go to their boss and
- 21:07Speaker 7: say I'm tired. I mean, you're being paid really really
- 21:12Speaker 7: well to go out there on any given Sunday and
- 21:15Speaker 7: and and play, and to just just decide that you
- 21:19Speaker 7: you're you're done, I'm tired.
- 21:21Speaker 5: That is just unacceptable to me.
- 21:23Speaker 7: That's more unacceptable to me than what happened with the
- 21:26Speaker 7: player and the commanders.
- 21:29Speaker 5: I mean, he at.
- 21:29Speaker 7: Least was out on the field, and yeah, he he
- 21:31Speaker 7: made a mental mistake. But when you just say I'm
- 21:35Speaker 7: done to me, that that to me is much more
- 21:39Speaker 7: of a of a more serious offense than what happened
- 21:42Speaker 7: at that other game.
- 21:43Speaker 4: See, I'm going to stay I think that, I think,
- 21:46Speaker 4: I think that lack of focus in the game. I
- 21:52Speaker 4: still I still, I'm still gonna lean that as as
- 21:55Speaker 4: still top bro your quarterback. Here's here's here's my issue
- 22:01Speaker 4: with with him, And this is what I'm thinking. He's thinking, Okay,
- 22:05Speaker 4: I am the quarterback, I am your guy, so I
- 22:11Speaker 4: can take this break.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I can wait.
- 22:15Speaker 4: They tell you, tap your tap, tap your helmet, tap
- 22:19Speaker 4: on top of helmet.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And we that lets us know that you're tired. You
- 22:21Speaker 2: need to come out.
- 22:22Speaker 4: He taps this helmet, he comes out for whatever amount
- 22:26Speaker 4: of plays he thinks he needs. He's thinking that that's okay,
- 22:33Speaker 4: But it is nowhere unless you're I mean, unless you're injured.
- 22:37Speaker 4: I'm saying, and I'm kind of going to expand what
- 22:40Speaker 4: I had previously thought about Tay because I'm saying, offensive lineman,
- 22:44Speaker 4: you really don't have that option. No, I'm saying quarterback
- 22:47Speaker 4: you don't have that option. I'm saying linebacker you don't
- 22:49Speaker 4: have that option. And I'll even say cornerbacks, defensive backs,
- 22:53Speaker 4: you kind of don't have that option. Left to me,
- 22:57Speaker 4: it's like you're running back and your receivers. Considering receiver
- 23:03Speaker 4: might run two or three nine routes back to back,
- 23:05Speaker 4: and generally the guy who's like the second or third
- 23:08Speaker 4: receiver starting receiver, there may not be a whole lot
- 23:11Speaker 4: of difference between the five, five and six guy. But
- 23:14Speaker 4: when you're talking about quarterback, when you talk about offensive linement,
- 23:16Speaker 4: generally there's a drop and just be But beyond that,
- 23:21Speaker 4: as a quarterback that you never you never. I'm saying
- 23:26Speaker 4: from a competitive standpoint, you never let the backup come
- 23:30Speaker 4: in unless it's mop up, clean up time.
- 23:32Speaker 2: You don't even approach that subject.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I don't even want you to see how good that
- 23:36Speaker 4: guy can be in live action. And I'm certainly not
- 23:40Speaker 4: going to bow out why the game is progressed.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I have said on this show a number of times.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I get my starting job because the dude does not
- 23:51Speaker 4: want to take a shot to play, and because his
- 23:56Speaker 4: ankle was hurt he had been out for some weeks.
- 24:01Speaker 2: They asked if he could play. He says he can't.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I can't go.
- 24:06Speaker 4: We can shoot it up. You won't even feel it. Nah,
- 24:08Speaker 4: I'm good. I get to start. The rest is his dresses,
- 24:11Speaker 4: you know, so I can't even So do you think
- 24:15Speaker 4: I was ever not gonna take a shot. Do you
- 24:17Speaker 4: think I'm ever gonna come out and say I'm hey,
- 24:21Speaker 4: I'm tired. No, But I'm just saying and all that's
- 24:24Speaker 4: to me is just double down because you're the quarterback. Yes,
- 24:28Speaker 4: even the quarterback. I've never seen a quarterback voluntarily say
- 24:33Speaker 4: I never.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Unless he was hurt.
- 24:36Speaker 2: And if he ain't hurt, he ain't going.
- 24:37Speaker 4: They're making him making him go.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Byron Leftwi was back in the day, remember.
- 24:42Speaker 5: That game, carried him down the field.
- 24:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, we see quarterbacks play
- 24:47Speaker 2: Brett Fait playing with broken.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Hands and no, no, no, I just want to interrupt.
- 24:52Speaker 7: I just wanted to say, don't you feel like there's
- 24:54Speaker 7: also a lack of loyalty like I feel like with
- 24:58Speaker 7: these players or back in the day when talking about
- 25:00Speaker 7: the Byron left whiches and and you know that the
- 25:02Speaker 7: guys that you know went in hurt and played and
- 25:06Speaker 7: physically and and and you know, visually you could see
- 25:09Speaker 7: that they they were physically hurt and they're still out
- 25:11Speaker 7: there trying to win for their team. And a lot
- 25:13Speaker 7: of these players, I think at the NFL level now,
- 25:17Speaker 7: I think they it's just so fluid now. They just
- 25:20Speaker 7: go from one team to another and there's not a
- 25:22Speaker 7: whole lot of And we've talked about this. I think
- 25:25Speaker 7: the last show about teamwork. It's more individual you know, individuality,
- 25:29Speaker 7: it's about what's good for me, not what's good for
- 25:32Speaker 7: the team. And I think he was worried about himself.
- 25:34Speaker 7: It sounds like rather than the team.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Do you think he's making a selfish decision or a
- 25:40Speaker 6: business decision? Say, hey, I'm tired, I'm not looking great.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Just let me get could we both.
- 25:45Speaker 4: See I think it's a selfish one because I'm thinking
- 25:48Speaker 4: I'm tired, I need to take a break.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna go sit on the side and get me
- 25:55Speaker 2: some water.
- 25:56Speaker 5: And you're not thinking about the rest of them. So
- 25:59Speaker 5: that's that's a lack of teams.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Yeah, here's the thing about the quarterback. Coach I'm tired,
- 26:05Speaker 4: called two three running plays in a row.
- 26:07Speaker 5: There you go, and problem.
- 26:10Speaker 2: If you just hampled out, got made fifteen yards. You tired?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Right now, Hey, coach, hand it off me. Forget the coach.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I'm making the call. I'm tired.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I can't go back and do that right now. I
- 26:23Speaker 4: need to buy two or three plays. So I'm gonna
- 26:25Speaker 4: go hand it off. I'm gonna get a shotgun on
- 26:27Speaker 4: a little swing pass to me as a quarterback. That's
- 26:29Speaker 4: how you can build in that rest. And I've been
- 26:33Speaker 4: so blown up before I had to have the running
- 26:36Speaker 4: back or whoever call the play you called play talk
- 26:40Speaker 4: right now, I'm gonna hand it off.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's just to me, I can't even fathom.
- 26:45Speaker 7: This unless there's some underlying physical condition that people don't
- 26:49Speaker 7: know about. Maybe he's getting over some type of virus
- 26:52Speaker 7: like the flu or covid, or something else is going on.
- 26:55Speaker 7: I mean, that's the only acceptable reason.
- 26:58Speaker 2: But this doesn't come out. If that's the case, this
- 27:00Speaker 2: isn't an issue.
- 27:03Speaker 4: That out, they wouldn't they wouldn't put it out there
- 27:05Speaker 4: because the first thing they'd say was he had been
- 27:07Speaker 4: sick all week, he had had you know, he was
- 27:10Speaker 4: just coming on.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Then they would team.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they would prepare differently.
- 27:17Speaker 2: After the fact after yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 4: You I mean to me, if if there's that situation
- 27:25Speaker 4: and you're worried about the team the other the opposing team,
- 27:28Speaker 4: then you you don't say anything at all. But then
- 27:31Speaker 4: once this happens and all this chatter starts coming out.
- 27:34Speaker 4: What's the first thing you should be saying?
- 27:36Speaker 5: He was, I haven't heard him, okay, And.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I just don't know how. I just don't know how
- 27:50Speaker 4: how we how we do it? And Holliston, I'm thinking,
- 27:53Speaker 4: and I'm and I'm tying these things to sports, you know,
- 27:59Speaker 4: the development in in sports, Like what are these kids feeling?
- 28:05Speaker 6: You know?
- 28:05Speaker 4: And when I'm saying kids, and then I'm saying middle school,
- 28:08Speaker 4: then I'm saying high school, and then I'm saying.
- 28:10Speaker 2: College, Like what are they thinking?
- 28:12Speaker 4: Like do they feel if I'm getting a million dollars
- 28:16Speaker 4: in menil money and I'm at a school and I
- 28:19Speaker 4: and I know for five I'm making the most.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Money I can be, why can't I be tired? Okay?
- 28:27Speaker 4: You know that was that was kind of like just
- 28:29Speaker 4: to you know, walk down the other side for a minute.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Is it a situation and where we're saying, like, on
- 28:34Speaker 4: one hand, we're.
- 28:35Speaker 6: Saying, well, we don't want to go back to the
- 28:36Speaker 6: old school concussions and you know, we don't want to,
- 28:40Speaker 6: you know, have players injured for their lives. So on
- 28:42Speaker 6: one hand we could say that on but on the
- 28:44Speaker 6: other hand, where we're sort of reprimanding him for doing
- 28:46Speaker 6: maybe what some guys should have did back in the day,
- 28:48Speaker 6: where Hey, I'm tired, I don't feel like I'm physically
- 28:51Speaker 6: able to perform at this time moment.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I need like two or three, I need a blow.
- 28:57Speaker 2: So shouldn't he be a lot? Should he? Should he
- 28:59Speaker 2: be commended for that? I would? I can't say. I can't.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I cannot say it. I cannot. I openly cannot say
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'm okay with that blow.
- 29:13Speaker 7: I think that it would be okay, Hollis if there
- 29:15Speaker 7: was an underlying physical condition.
- 29:18Speaker 2: But what if you're just tired. Though you're just tired, that's.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Not in the vocabulary players, I should never in a condition.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Were you in a condition? But but you know, game speed,
- 29:28Speaker 2: everything changes.
- 29:29Speaker 4: And I'm saying if I'm blown, if I blew, if
- 29:31Speaker 4: I'm blown up and I need some oxygen and I
- 29:35Speaker 4: don't want to and if I stand the game, and
- 29:37Speaker 4: if I got a force to run, if something happens,
- 29:39Speaker 4: then I could be heard, I can fumble the ball
- 29:41Speaker 4: something like that. So bring him in for a couple players,
- 29:43Speaker 4: Let me get a little blow, and I'll be right
- 29:45Speaker 4: back in. So shouldn't he be allowed to do that? Yes,
- 29:49Speaker 4: and and shouldn't be commended for that. No, because.
- 29:53Speaker 2: To my if I if I'm correct on this, I'm
- 29:57Speaker 2: the coach.
- 29:57Speaker 5: I'm taking notes.
- 30:00Speaker 2: They did they replace him. I believe believe they replaced it.
- 30:05Speaker 4: So there's so something in there did not add up.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Cause if if you tell me you're you're tired, okay,
- 30:14Speaker 4: and you're and you're my quarterback and you need to
- 30:17Speaker 4: blow the issue is either the offensive coordinator me, somebody's
- 30:23Speaker 4: blamed for you not being in shape.
- 30:25Speaker 2: The one thing you was never gonna do is punch out.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Thing but today but you know, sometimes it ain't about shape.
- 30:30Speaker 4: We could be in shape, and just the games feeding adrenaline.
- 30:33Speaker 4: You know, it can wear you out not to come out,
- 30:37Speaker 4: not voluntarily anyway, Yeah, not voluntarily to come out. Like again,
- 30:41Speaker 4: just being a quarterback.
- 30:43Speaker 6: I've been a starter, backup quarterback in and out and
- 30:45Speaker 6: I just know, like once I get in the game,
- 30:47Speaker 6: I ain't trying.
- 30:47Speaker 2: You ain't trying. I'm not checking myself out.
- 30:50Speaker 6: But I'm saying, though, what we seen with Tua, what
- 30:54Speaker 6: we've seen with you know, concussions and people getting injured
- 30:57Speaker 6: and different things like that. If a player is saying, look,
- 31:00Speaker 6: I know my body, and I know right now I've
- 31:03Speaker 6: at a point where I could possibly get hurt or
- 31:05Speaker 6: I could cost my team a turnover. I need a blow,
- 31:08Speaker 6: even the quarterback. Should we not be looking at this
- 31:11Speaker 6: and saying this is a good thing or this is
- 31:13Speaker 6: a evolutionary spot.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I think, I think there's a there's a place for it.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think. I don't think it's that. Okay,
- 31:24Speaker 2: explain what does that mean?
- 31:25Speaker 4: Okay, So, yes, there's a there's a potential that you
- 31:28Speaker 4: could be so tired that you you need to blow.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I think that.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I think if we're gonna if we're gonna get to
- 31:36Speaker 4: that space to where somebody is dictating who's coming in
- 31:40Speaker 4: who's coming out. Right, So let's say you're the trainer.
- 31:45Speaker 4: You you see me and I you know I'm quarterback.
- 31:49Speaker 4: You see me, and you saying, hey, I think he
- 31:50Speaker 4: needs to blow. Let's get him out. Okay. I as
- 31:55Speaker 4: a coach, I'd be fine with that.
- 31:59Speaker 2: But if you if you're coming to the sideline, if you.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Tap your helmet, okay, and tell that's the signal saying
- 32:07Speaker 4: that you tapped, I'm gonna get I'm gonna get you.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I'm gonna get you a backup. I just don't know
- 32:14Speaker 4: if I've ever seen a quarterback.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I have never seen it, ever seen.
- 32:18Speaker 5: A quarterback play before that. I mean was he was?
- 32:21Speaker 5: He struggling just like over.
- 32:24Speaker 4: I don't think there was anything dramatic about, anything precursor
- 32:30Speaker 4: to I just think it was just you know, hey.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Y'all carry on on the show. I'll be right back.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I need a drink a winter you know what I'm saying.
- 32:38Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 32:38Speaker 6: I mean again, I'm trying to look at it from
- 32:41Speaker 6: both sides. I put but I just never I have
- 32:44Speaker 6: never seen a quarterback do that. I've never ever ever
- 32:47Speaker 6: seen a quarterback do that. Not a quarterback. I've seen
- 32:50Speaker 6: a lot of other positions do it, but not quarterback.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And and think about it, what do you do? You
- 32:56Speaker 2: know that like when you when you're making that decision,
- 32:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna make the case you're you.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Don't know that this is a first probably ever for
- 33:04Speaker 4: at least for many of us, for many of us,
- 33:07Speaker 4: right that you're going to walk out, like what are
- 33:10Speaker 4: you thinking today? Like what are you possibly thinking today?
- 33:14Speaker 2: You got it? At least?
- 33:15Speaker 4: What what what is he thinking today? He's reading all this,
- 33:18Speaker 4: he's seeing all this, what's he thinking.
- 33:20Speaker 7: Well, I mean, it depends on what his mindset was
- 33:22Speaker 7: when he took the break, you know, like I mean,
- 33:24Speaker 7: does he have does he have a medical does he
- 33:26Speaker 7: feel like there's something physically going on with him, or
- 33:29Speaker 7: does he know that he just needed a break from
- 33:31Speaker 7: it that you know, he just wasn't playing well. And
- 33:33Speaker 7: I just think there's so many other factors you'd have
- 33:35Speaker 7: to look at, like his previous play in the game,
- 33:37Speaker 7: like you said, he was you know, he was doing okay,
- 33:39Speaker 7: he wasn't like setting the world on fire.
- 33:42Speaker 5: But here's the other thing.
- 33:44Speaker 7: Maybe coming through the ranks of you know, high school football,
- 33:49Speaker 7: collegiate football, that was just something that he did and
- 33:53Speaker 7: it was accepted by his coaches and I can see
- 33:56Speaker 7: that from the staff. And so now that he's at
- 33:58Speaker 7: the NFL level, I mean, it's if I need a break,
- 34:01Speaker 7: I take a break.
- 34:02Speaker 5: That's just the way it is. Because I'm who I am, right, Yes.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Yes, okay, so we're gonna take a break, but I'm
- 34:09Speaker 4: gonna say you're here, I'm gonna say.
- 34:13Speaker 6: And the game was twenty three, twenty three to twenty Houston, Texas,
- 34:16Speaker 6: So it wasn't like it was a like it was
- 34:19Speaker 6: getting blown out.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So it was a tight game.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Out couldn't afford to Lee.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm gonna say about the game was a
- 34:25Speaker 2: tight game. I'm gonna say to this NFL not for long, ladies.

- 35:28Speaker 3: Now back through the conversation.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, we're back off of breaking and.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Even the start of the break, we couldn't get off
- 35:38Speaker 4: of the of the subject of being tired and what
- 35:42Speaker 4: justifies being tired or or what actually qualifies you to
- 35:48Speaker 4: come out of a game if you are the quarterback.
- 35:51Speaker 4: And I'm going to make the case that the quarterback
- 35:54Speaker 4: probably is not that person.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and he was having pretty a pretty
- 36:00Speaker 2: miserable game. I mean he was.
- 36:01Speaker 6: He was ten for thirty two, one hundred and seventy
- 36:04Speaker 6: five yards. He had one touchdown, one pick. So it
- 36:08Speaker 6: wasn't like it was any sack five times.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Oh wow, it was offensive line.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Well so are you so okay?
- 36:16Speaker 4: So now can we interpret that tired is like man,
- 36:18Speaker 4: I'm beat up, right, I mean, you could interpret that,
- 36:21Speaker 4: but again, that's the nature of the position. And I
- 36:23Speaker 4: was gonna and it's one of those things where like
- 36:26Speaker 4: you have to fight through it if you're and the
- 36:28Speaker 4: thing is you're allowed to fight through it because I mean,
- 36:30Speaker 4: you're ten for thirty two. That means you're not having
- 36:32Speaker 4: a good game at all.
- 36:33Speaker 7: That doesn't he have time to have a good game.
- 36:35Speaker 7: It sounds like a line is not there to help
- 36:38Speaker 7: him out.
- 36:39Speaker 2: And that can be true.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Frustrating, yes, but frustrating doesn't put you out, like you
- 36:44Speaker 4: don't come out and frustration and again, but the game
- 36:46Speaker 4: is twenty to twenty three, so it's not like you're
- 36:49Speaker 4: getting blown out.
- 36:50Speaker 2: It's not like the game is so out of hand,
- 36:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean, You're you're in it until
- 36:54Speaker 2: pretty like to the wire.
- 36:56Speaker 4: See and I'm I'm I'm thinking again. Generation Okay, nobody's
- 37:02Speaker 4: coming out of that game. Yeah, and nobody, nobody wants
- 37:05Speaker 4: to be subbed out of that game. We still got
- 37:07Speaker 4: a chance to win.
- 37:08Speaker 6: But I mean, but you but let me ask you,
- 37:09Speaker 6: this is from like a general standpoint, is this sort
- 37:12Speaker 6: of a do you think again, not that this very
- 37:16Speaker 6: incident will spark something, but do you think this is
- 37:19Speaker 6: sort of just a change in how like athletes are
- 37:22Speaker 6: sort of viewing themselves like this is a business as
- 37:26Speaker 6: an entity or just saying I know what I need
- 37:29Speaker 6: for me right now, as opposed to the coach or
- 37:32Speaker 6: the team dictating that.
- 37:33Speaker 4: I purposely opened the show with that conversation about you know,
- 37:39Speaker 4: drama in a game, you know, and the adults being
- 37:43Speaker 4: that drama right wrong or indifferent, justified or not, they
- 37:46Speaker 4: become they become the whole game.
- 37:50Speaker 8: You know.
- 37:51Speaker 4: You got officials wanting to leave, You got all these
- 37:52Speaker 4: kind of things. So you're you're creating an issue that
- 37:56Speaker 4: sparks what the game? How you tag the game right
- 38:01Speaker 4: at the end of the game, when it's over, you
- 38:03Speaker 4: tag the game in this negative way because of these things. Okay, Now,
- 38:09Speaker 4: if we get players who who are in the quarterback position,
- 38:14Speaker 4: in the mainstream line of the game, picking and choosing
- 38:20Speaker 4: when they want to walk off the field full break
- 38:25Speaker 4: for water.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Hey I need water, you know, and let me let me.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna come out, take a take a seat for
- 38:31Speaker 4: a couple of plays, and then I'll be back in.
- 38:33Speaker 5: Okay, but Hollis, you did say he'd been socked five times.
- 38:37Speaker 2: You've been sacked five times in that game?
- 38:39Speaker 5: In that game, Okay, that that's successive? Is it not
- 38:42Speaker 5: for an NFL?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, so I mean it is, it is, Okay,
- 38:48Speaker 2: it is in.
- 38:49Speaker 5: The manner of the socks. Also, you probably have to.
- 38:51Speaker 2: See the way he down sure that they were tough.
- 38:54Speaker 7: Okay, so maybe in his mind, I'm not saying right
- 38:57Speaker 7: or wrong. I'm saying in his mind, he's and maybe
- 39:00Speaker 7: they've had some injuries on the offensive line that they
- 39:02Speaker 7: didn't have their normal starters in there. Like I said,
- 39:04Speaker 7: there's so many other factors you need to look at
- 39:07Speaker 7: that could have played ended the reason he said he
- 39:09Speaker 7: was tired. Like I said, he could have just been
- 39:11Speaker 7: tired of being sacked and he was afraid that he
- 39:14Speaker 7: might end up with a concussion or some serious injury
- 39:17Speaker 7: if it continued.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Okay, again, I'm old.
- 39:20Speaker 5: I'm throwing it out.
- 39:21Speaker 4: It says after a sequence midway through the third quarter,
- 39:25Speaker 4: and again, the game is tight all the way through.
- 39:27Speaker 6: This is a tight game. After scrambling and eventually being
- 39:31Speaker 6: sacked for no loss, to your point, Richardson tapped his helmet,
- 39:36Speaker 6: exiting the game. Joe Flacco replaced him for one play
- 39:41Speaker 6: on their third and twenty three, and he came back continueing, Okay.
- 39:47Speaker 5: So, oh now see, I'm starting to change my mind.
- 39:50Speaker 4: I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm okay with the one play
- 39:53Speaker 4: thing after a hit, I'm okay with that. The other situation,
- 39:57Speaker 4: when I was getting ready to say, but even the
- 40:00Speaker 4: one play, I mean, do you do you do that?
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 40:04Speaker 4: I think that's I think that you're not injured, you're
- 40:06Speaker 4: not nothing hit to him And to his point though.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Now he said he was tired.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Now I'm making the case that the coach, I think
- 40:17Speaker 4: this is where you're gonna go. The coach wasn't okay
- 40:19Speaker 4: with it because he's getting replaced. He's getting So what
- 40:22Speaker 4: I'm saying is that all in all you still have
- 40:25Speaker 4: And again we gotta remember he wasn't looking great, but
- 40:28Speaker 4: the team still has an opportunity to win this game
- 40:30Speaker 4: because it was a tight game all the way through.
- 40:32Speaker 6: It's a back and forth game. You tap out, it's
- 40:36Speaker 6: third and twenty three after scramble and again. And I
- 40:39Speaker 6: think sometimes when we say he got sacked five times,
- 40:41Speaker 6: a lot of those could be on the office alignment,
- 40:43Speaker 6: but some quarterback.
- 40:45Speaker 8: Right.
- 40:46Speaker 4: So it's like at that point, I think, when you
- 40:49Speaker 4: do this and you're not hurt and you only need
- 40:52Speaker 4: one play, the coach has lost faith in you because.
- 40:55Speaker 2: One play is not one play is it shouldn't.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Make a game.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It's not, it's not it's not gonna it's not gonna
- 41:00Speaker 2: make you, okay, command. But and it's third and twenty three.
- 41:06Speaker 2: What we're doing a draw a screen.
- 41:08Speaker 4: That's what we're doing on third and twenty three, either
- 41:10Speaker 4: handing it off or we're doing the screen or something
- 41:14Speaker 4: something easy, so we don't cause there.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Had to be.
- 41:16Speaker 4: To me, I'm gonna make make this case, and I'm
- 41:18Speaker 4: curious what both of you all think based on what
- 41:23Speaker 4: we're hearing and and and your research, Hollis, I'm gonna
- 41:28Speaker 4: make a case that there has to there has to
- 41:30Speaker 4: be something else that's creating this substitution that's changing quarterback.
- 41:38Speaker 4: I'm thinking it's those numbers. Yeah, I don't even know.
- 41:43Speaker 4: We realize he taps out. So the focus is that
- 41:46Speaker 4: he taps out, but he comes back, but he don't.
- 41:50Speaker 4: He don't help us win, and his numbers win the game.
- 41:54Speaker 6: After that play, they kicked the field goal and they
- 41:56Speaker 6: lost by three points. And to your point, I know
- 41:59Speaker 6: we talked out, we talked about it earlier. Not only
- 42:04Speaker 6: is he be a replacement, I think you got the list.
- 42:05Speaker 6: It's a whole host of quarterbacks, young quarterbacks that are
- 42:08Speaker 6: being a replaced right now?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Am I right on that? Yes you are, And I'll
- 42:13Speaker 2: have to look him up. But so I'm saying, like,
- 42:17Speaker 2: what do you think is the impetus for that? I
- 42:20Speaker 2: think I think that there isn't.
- 42:24Speaker 4: The transition from the top collegiate football level is still
- 42:30Speaker 4: not the NFL.
- 42:31Speaker 1: You know.
- 42:32Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 42:32Speaker 4: It's like, it's just because you played at the top
- 42:35Speaker 4: level Alabama and you won four national championships, right and
- 42:41Speaker 4: you started every game your entire career, there's still no
- 42:45Speaker 4: guarantee that you're going to get drafted to a team
- 42:49Speaker 4: and you're going to be able to compete. And I
- 42:52Speaker 4: think what's happening now is I think these young guys
- 42:55Speaker 4: coming out of school now are not respecting that step
- 42:59Speaker 4: up up. They made this step from high school to
- 43:03Speaker 4: college easy, and they had a great college career. So
- 43:08Speaker 4: the anticipation of getting to college or going from college
- 43:13Speaker 4: to pro at that position specifically, oh, that's gonna be easy.
- 43:19Speaker 6: And just for clarification, Anthony Richardson bench twenty two years old,
- 43:24Speaker 6: Bryce Young twenty three bench, Trey Lance twenty four bench,
- 43:28Speaker 6: Justin Fields twenty five, bents, Will Levis twenty five, bents,
- 43:31Speaker 6: Zach Wilson bench, Mark Jones bench, Kenny Pickens bench all
- 43:34Speaker 6: guys under twenty six years old.
- 43:37Speaker 4: And most of them probably all first I'm gonna say
- 43:40Speaker 4: first to third, Yeah, it's a lot of pisa.
- 43:43Speaker 6: But I would also say, I think it's a it's
- 43:46Speaker 6: a couple things happened in my my I think number one,
- 43:49Speaker 6: I think seven on seven has dramatically changed how quarterbacks
- 43:53Speaker 6: throw the ball and how they think about throwing the ball.
- 43:56Speaker 6: You if you watch quarterbacks, they don't have the touch.
- 43:59Speaker 6: Remember like a Jeff Blake, Joe Montanna, he has such
- 44:02Speaker 6: beautiful they have such beautiful touch on the ball. But
- 44:05Speaker 6: seven h seven has made everything so quick. So the
- 44:07Speaker 6: way in which they throw the ball, not that the
- 44:11Speaker 6: accuracy is off, but they don't necessarily have the placement
- 44:13Speaker 6: and the touch just from a technical standpoint. And then
- 44:16Speaker 6: I would also say is that you can probably attest
- 44:20Speaker 6: to this even like at a little league level, they're
- 44:23Speaker 6: going to a lot of teams that are stacked, so
- 44:25Speaker 6: all the good kids are playing against excuse me, playing
- 44:28Speaker 6: with each other against maybe less talented kids. So I
- 44:31Speaker 6: think it creates a illusion where you're not actually playing
- 44:34Speaker 6: against that best dB or that best D lineman, he's
- 44:36Speaker 6: actually on your team. Because we can even look at
- 44:39Speaker 6: that in college, if you look like the SEC, you
- 44:40Speaker 6: look at like the Alabama's, the LSU, the Texas, those
- 44:45Speaker 6: sort of Michigans, those Ohio States. Right, it's kind of
- 44:49Speaker 6: them and everybody else. So there's not like the talent
- 44:52Speaker 6: disbursement across the land, So you're not actually all the
- 44:55Speaker 6: time maybe playing against the best team, you may have
- 44:58Speaker 6: a player or two. But when you get to the
- 45:00Speaker 6: NFL that it sort of evens out the talent. And
- 45:02Speaker 6: in addition, my last point is that I think all
- 45:05Speaker 6: the offenses are different. Again we even though at the
- 45:08Speaker 6: NFL you gotta be able to run a little bit,
- 45:10Speaker 6: but college you can really take advantage of that. Really
- 45:12Speaker 6: the court, the offenses are so quarterback centric now, you
- 45:16Speaker 6: know what I mean. Where now in the NFL it's
- 45:19Speaker 6: still like that, but it's it's you know, it's more complex,
- 45:23Speaker 6: and you got to be able to do different things
- 45:25Speaker 6: and and and.
- 45:26Speaker 4: Lisa, I'm gonna throw this at you when to Hollis's
- 45:30Speaker 4: point of it being folks, the focus.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Being on the quarterback.
- 45:35Speaker 4: That quarterback now has to be able to do everything,
- 45:40Speaker 4: and and and and one of the most important things
- 45:43Speaker 4: is he's got to get people to play for him.
- 45:46Speaker 2: He's got to make that play for him. He has
- 45:48Speaker 2: to be a leader, right. That a good point.
- 45:50Speaker 7: Yeah, And I think too that going back to the
- 45:53Speaker 7: collegiate level compared to the NFL level, like you said, Hollis,
- 45:57Speaker 7: every week you're in the NFL, you're playing people that
- 46:00Speaker 7: are equally as talented as you both sides of the ball.
- 46:03Speaker 7: Everybody is a Georgia, I mean the quality of the player.
- 46:07Speaker 7: Whereas the collegiate level, you're not playing every week. It's
- 46:10Speaker 7: not the big like Alabama Georgia game. Sometimes you're gonna
- 46:13Speaker 7: have some down games. And so the requirement of being
- 46:18Speaker 7: at that top level every single week adrenaline wise, I
- 46:21Speaker 7: think in the NFL that's a tough thing too. That's
- 46:24Speaker 7: so great because you got to be you know, you're
- 46:26Speaker 7: not going to be as hyped up when you're playing
- 46:28Speaker 7: you know, here's a terrible example, really Ohio State Marshall.
- 46:31Speaker 5: You know, o Higo State was like, oh, here we go,
- 46:32Speaker 5: we're playing Marshall.
- 46:33Speaker 7: But they still want Whereas in the NFL, you know,
- 46:36Speaker 7: they're thinking to themselves, yeah, we're going to play like
- 46:38Speaker 7: the Browns. And so those young quarterbacks not really taking
- 46:42Speaker 7: it as serious as they should because like I said,
- 46:45Speaker 7: they're all the same caliber players and anybody can win
- 46:47Speaker 7: on any given Sunday.
- 46:49Speaker 4: And I think I think there's also a mindset that
- 46:53Speaker 4: triggers a work ethic that goes with that with that position, right,
- 47:00Speaker 4: And I could be wrong, Hollis, you probably know a
- 47:03Speaker 4: little bit more about this than I do. But if
- 47:05Speaker 4: I'm if you draft me first round and you've got
- 47:09Speaker 4: an older quarterback, or you're saying I'm coming in, for
- 47:12Speaker 4: the most part, I know I'm coming in as the quarterback, right,
- 47:17Speaker 4: there has to be a mindset for me that I
- 47:21Speaker 4: still have to work. You give me five hundred million dollars,
- 47:28Speaker 4: and two hundred of it is guaranteed. I It's not
- 47:33Speaker 4: like I'm not gonna go out throw some balls and
- 47:35Speaker 4: do all this kind of stuff.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna do some running.
- 47:37Speaker 4: But when I get there, I'm automatically already knowing that
- 47:39Speaker 4: I'm I'm the I'm the guy.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Knowing that. I don't know if that helps.
- 47:46Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think that I see where
- 47:49Speaker 6: you're going and and I'll address it, but I'll take
- 47:51Speaker 6: it back to college. I think, even like I said,
- 47:54Speaker 6: even in college, part of what was great about the
- 47:58Speaker 6: older quarterbacks, is that you had to who you stayed
- 48:00Speaker 6: in college and sometimes you had to sit, so sometimes
- 48:03Speaker 6: you had to shit there two or three years. So
- 48:05Speaker 6: you kind of had to work your way through that process.
- 48:08Speaker 6: And you kind of already used to deal with adversity
- 48:11Speaker 6: as opposed now, not to say kids don't do the adversity,
- 48:14Speaker 6: but now it's just so many options. It's fluid. Like
- 48:16Speaker 6: you said, you can just kind of go from here
- 48:18Speaker 6: to there or there. And I think once you get
- 48:20Speaker 6: to the NFL again, I've never been there and never played,
- 48:22Speaker 6: but I'm just you have to study it. It has
- 48:25Speaker 6: to become like a vocation. I don't know, you know,
- 48:29Speaker 6: you throwing the ball and doing it. Yeah, technically, I
- 48:32Speaker 6: think there's some issues that you may have to clean up,
- 48:35Speaker 6: but I think mentally you got to know this game
- 48:37Speaker 6: because it's so complex and defenses are so good.
- 48:40Speaker 4: And let's not count that out too. Defensive backs and
- 48:43Speaker 4: defenses now are super good. Like you know, this ain't
- 48:48Speaker 4: like the nick like the big Brawley linebackers. Ain't that
- 48:52Speaker 4: these guys can run four forward d linemens are super fast.
- 48:56Speaker 4: So defenses are really good and it's really difficult. Cool,
- 49:00Speaker 4: like I said to to make plays well in this
- 49:03Speaker 4: in this environment. And and so you're going, when do
- 49:07Speaker 4: you start to learn coverages?
- 49:09Speaker 2: Again?
- 49:09Speaker 4: I talked to a young man the other day, and
- 49:12Speaker 4: you know, I was talking. He was talking about working,
- 49:15Speaker 4: doing some training.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Da da da dah. And one of the questions I asked,
- 49:18Speaker 2: I said, do you do you know coverages? Okay, but
- 49:24Speaker 2: I would say these guys know coverages. I don't think they.
- 49:27Speaker 4: I don't think it's an NFL player that probably doesn't
- 49:29Speaker 4: know coverages and different things.
- 49:31Speaker 2: That I would agree.
- 49:33Speaker 4: Okay, I would agree, but I'm saying for your success
- 49:38Speaker 4: to get to the next level, yeah, you're just learn
- 49:44Speaker 4: You're gonna just learn coverages when you get to college.
- 49:46Speaker 2: No, no, again, you probably should learnt.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Coaches and and and and I think part of that
- 49:51Speaker 4: problem is is you know, what they're trying to do
- 49:55Speaker 4: is I think what what we try to do is
- 49:58Speaker 4: we teach the quarterback the technique that roll the ball
- 50:00Speaker 4: to step into it. You know, all these kinds of things.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Here's the routes. You know, we want to throw this
- 50:06Speaker 4: strong side, but you can't. You might not be able
- 50:08Speaker 4: to throw a strong side because coverage might be strong side.
- 50:10Speaker 4: You know, so no one is sitting up there and
- 50:15Speaker 4: getting them on the board or giving them a video
- 50:18Speaker 4: and walking them become thing.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Don't.
- 50:21Speaker 6: I don't know if you have to again, because now
- 50:23Speaker 6: the athlete is playing quarterback, because we mentioned everything is
- 50:26Speaker 6: quarterback centrist and we've said the athlete is playing quarterback now.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Before it wasn't like that. The quarterbacks of today would
- 50:33Speaker 4: would be wide receivers and tight ends. And DB's right,
- 50:36Speaker 4: so we've opened it up the athlete. So if I'm
- 50:39Speaker 4: a high school and if I'm.
- 50:40Speaker 6: Elite, if I have an elite athlete, I don't necessarily
- 50:44Speaker 6: have to take him through all that because he's ever.
- 50:46Speaker 6: He's able to make plays instinctually, right, he has the
- 50:49Speaker 6: two's kind of naturally where I don't have to walk
- 50:52Speaker 6: him through that whole mental process. But I think, but
- 50:56Speaker 6: what I'm saying, no, no, But what I'm saying is
- 50:58Speaker 6: like I think that's a call of the fault of
- 51:02Speaker 6: the development process.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Still, you still should be doing that.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Even though the kid is he could just go out
- 51:08Speaker 4: and make plays and do all this stuff, you still
- 51:10Speaker 4: that still has to be a part of the development process.
- 51:12Speaker 5: They with that in college, like you can't skip there
- 51:17Speaker 5: you can't skip it.
- 51:18Speaker 4: And I think that's the part of the development process,
- 51:20Speaker 4: is that that's being skipped because we just got this
- 51:23Speaker 4: great after and and I and I really think that's
- 51:25Speaker 4: that's big in high school. That's what I'm going I'm
- 51:28Speaker 4: saying high high school. And I would say college too. Yes,
- 51:30Speaker 4: I think I think college because and again it's because
- 51:34Speaker 4: to win and you and everybody wants to win. But
- 51:40Speaker 4: I think there's let's let's take out, let's take the
- 51:42Speaker 4: time out to actually make sure we can we can
- 51:46Speaker 4: we can actually teach our athletes, our student athletes, what
- 51:52Speaker 4: what their job is as a whole at a position.
- 51:55Speaker 5: Fundamentals, the fundamentals.
- 51:57Speaker 2: We can't. You can't skip by. You can't skip over
- 52:00Speaker 2: the fundamentals.
- 52:01Speaker 4: And has said that's where we get lost when you
- 52:03Speaker 4: start to talk travel ball, when you start to talk
- 52:06Speaker 4: seven or seven, we are totally skipping over all that
- 52:09Speaker 4: because it becomes just everybody. And again, yeah, because it's
- 52:12Speaker 4: not systematic. You're having different coaches for all these different things,
- 52:16Speaker 4: and it just becomes about winning all these different things.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Nothing. Nothing. And I'm saying football wise, I'm strictly talking
- 52:23Speaker 2: about football because I think other sports have it to
- 52:25Speaker 2: a degree, but nothing about football in the early stages
- 52:29Speaker 2: of it screams development. No, No, it's it's it's touchdowns
- 52:33Speaker 2: and winning. So there.
- 52:35Speaker 4: So I'm a coach. I'm a I'm a travel football coach.
- 52:38Speaker 4: And I'm sitting at a I'm sitting at a high school.
- 52:40Speaker 4: I'm sitting at a youth basketball game, and I see
- 52:44Speaker 4: this kid that's really athletic. He's got good feed, he
- 52:49Speaker 4: looks like he's quick, he's fast, he's he's all that.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I'm thinking, hmmm, who's his mom? Mm hmmm, who's his dad.
- 52:57Speaker 4: I'm gonna go talk to them and say, hey, you know,
- 52:59Speaker 4: you think Donnie would like to play travel football. We
- 53:02Speaker 4: got a position for him. He could play running back
- 53:05Speaker 4: for us. I mean, he's got great feed. You know,
- 53:07Speaker 4: he looks tough and all this kind of stuff. Really okay,
- 53:11Speaker 4: we'll do that.
- 53:12Speaker 3: So now.
- 53:14Speaker 4: We're teaching him to play, how to take the handoff,
- 53:17Speaker 4: and that's it, and now let his athleticism take over.
- 53:23Speaker 4: You win a state championship, you win a national championship
- 53:26Speaker 4: with this guy had handling this guy the ball. So,
- 53:32Speaker 4: and what your sale is We got scouts. There are
- 53:36Speaker 4: scouts at our games. There is no scout at a
- 53:40Speaker 4: youth football travel game.
- 53:42Speaker 6: I'm sorry, but I think it's just an example of
- 53:45Speaker 6: us again we're just skipping the development process. And like
- 53:48Speaker 6: I said, when you have all these young quarterbacks that
- 53:50Speaker 6: there just named earlier and they're all being baster, all
- 53:53Speaker 6: not performing well. Again, some of them are bad teams.
- 53:55Speaker 6: There's other mitigating circumstances that would you know cause that.
- 53:59Speaker 6: But in football, we are hurting because we have skipped
- 54:02Speaker 6: the developmental process. Unlike baseball two degree even basketball, to
- 54:06Speaker 6: agree sort of kept that. Soccer is definitely doing it well.
- 54:10Speaker 4: I think I think the interesting thing about about basketball
- 54:16Speaker 4: is you're you're literally doing that skill set. Everybody's doing
- 54:22Speaker 4: kind of the same skill set. Everybody's got to dribble,
- 54:24Speaker 4: everybody's got to shuffle, everybody's got.
- 54:27Speaker 2: To do this, so you can kind of throw it
- 54:30Speaker 2: all into one. Baseball is kind of the same thing.
- 54:32Speaker 4: You gotta catch it, you gotta throw it, you gotta
- 54:33Speaker 4: hit it, got to be able to recognize, you know,
- 54:37Speaker 4: double plays and all those kinds of things.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Football, it's so broad. You an individual. Yeah, I'm not
- 54:45Speaker 2: doing anything remotely close to you. Now, I still gotta
- 54:48Speaker 2: have feet. You still gotta have feet, but.
- 54:50Speaker 4: But different skill sets. We're doing different skill set. That's
- 54:54Speaker 4: that's a good point.
- 54:54Speaker 6: And I think that's that and that's what makes it
- 54:57Speaker 6: tough because even like to foster that development, you need
- 55:00Speaker 6: a whole bunch of coaches.
- 55:02Speaker 2: You actually need about five year coaches. And and and
- 55:05Speaker 2: I'm not going to say, I'm not going to say
- 55:07Speaker 2: that you need a coach who's in that position. You
- 55:10Speaker 2: just got to know more than your students. That's it, basically.
- 55:15Speaker 5: And there's this thing called Google. So even if you.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Don't I was talking about that earlier today.
- 55:23Speaker 5: Anybody could.
- 55:24Speaker 7: I mean, I'm not saying anybody could be a coach,
- 55:26Speaker 7: but if you're the only thing that those kids have,
- 55:29Speaker 7: or you don't know much about it, you do some research.
- 55:32Speaker 6: If you're a teachers, particularly if you have that skill,
- 55:34Speaker 6: that that gift to teach, then to your point, you
- 55:37Speaker 6: can do I had got I had.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Gotten a text message from a from a former athlete.
- 55:43Speaker 4: From the high school South Trust in high school and
- 55:45Speaker 4: was asking if you know, I would be willing to
- 55:49Speaker 4: to talk with with another kid who was playing you know,
- 55:53Speaker 4: corner and was trying to learn corner. And I was like, yeah,
- 55:58Speaker 4: you know, I sit down and talk to him. I
- 56:00Speaker 4: work with him a little bit, you know, because to me,
- 56:04Speaker 4: if you're asking, you know, then then you know you
- 56:09Speaker 4: don't know right, you know, and I know somebody else
- 56:12Speaker 4: is asking, But I'm sure what the case was. That
- 56:15Speaker 4: dude said, I know, you know, I know, coach, he
- 56:17Speaker 4: was here with me and blah blah blah blah. I'll
- 56:19Speaker 4: give him a call and see, you know. Not Now
- 56:22Speaker 4: there hasn't been a follow up with that, but I've
- 56:25Speaker 4: already I've already talked to a couple of people, and
- 56:29Speaker 4: you're you're actually on my list too, that h Hollis.
- 56:33Speaker 4: I think, I think there's a place for a DV
- 56:36Speaker 4: camp here to work with DB's and and one of
- 56:44Speaker 4: the things about that you sometimes you may need receivers,
- 56:47Speaker 4: you may need quarterbacks, you know, and and not turning
- 56:50Speaker 4: it into a seven on seven thing, but teaching.
- 56:55Speaker 2: There's something I learned from Hollis being a quarterback.
- 56:57Speaker 4: I can I can watch his movement if he gonna
- 57:00Speaker 4: throw this type of past, what what's that look like?
- 57:03Speaker 4: So show me that type of pass and understand, like
- 57:05Speaker 4: I don't even have a problem with like things like
- 57:07Speaker 4: seven h seven it's just it's just that, like everything
- 57:12Speaker 4: can't be like competition. We want, we want to have competition,
- 57:16Speaker 4: but we also need to take our time to pull
- 57:19Speaker 4: development out of that. Right, so we can have a
- 57:21Speaker 4: seven o seven, but let's let's take our time to teach,
- 57:24Speaker 4: and let's correct when things aren't going right and actually
- 57:28Speaker 4: teach along the way while we're actually doing this activity
- 57:30Speaker 4: and skill.
- 57:32Speaker 2: But you know, part of part of that problem, part
- 57:35Speaker 2: of that problem is.
- 57:37Speaker 4: Is a lot of a lot of a lot of
- 57:41Speaker 4: coaches using that word loosely okay, that are coaching. They
- 57:47Speaker 4: don't know and even if they're going to look it
- 57:50Speaker 4: up somewhere, it doesn't necessarily mean it works for that guy.
- 57:57Speaker 4: Like because there's a kid who I can look at,
- 57:59Speaker 4: I'm now he could probably play bump and run. I
- 58:02Speaker 4: can look at another kid and say, But regardless of
- 58:05Speaker 4: like how it actually plays out, I'm just saying, if
- 58:08Speaker 4: we if we enter it with the mindset that hey,
- 58:11Speaker 4: we like we're gonna do this seven on seven or
- 58:13Speaker 4: whatever it is, and we are going to develop and
- 58:15Speaker 4: teach along the way. So it's gonna be points where
- 58:18Speaker 4: we stopped the drill, where we stop what we're doing
- 58:20Speaker 4: and we're saying this and we're correct or do We're
- 58:23Speaker 4: gonna do this and that. And I'm saying it's not
- 58:26Speaker 4: always gonna start out smooth, but I'm saying, if that's
- 58:29Speaker 4: the mindset moving forward and progressive, I think we can
- 58:32Speaker 4: build development into what we're doing as opposed to it
- 58:36Speaker 4: just being like sort of free for alls and it's
- 58:38Speaker 4: just about competition all the time. And and and I'm
- 58:42Speaker 4: gonna I'm gonna try to make this make sense. What
- 58:46Speaker 4: what Hall is just saying is instead of saying you
- 58:53Speaker 4: need to make that play, you need to explain to
- 58:56Speaker 4: them how what went wrong and to flip that becomes developed,
- 59:04Speaker 4: that becomes something that becomes conscious. In my mind, I
- 59:08Speaker 4: don't know if we do that. I do think that
- 59:10Speaker 4: we spend more time on just saying you got to
- 59:13Speaker 4: make that play. Yeah, But I mean, well.
- 59:16Speaker 7: That's true, and it comes full circle, doesn't it. Because
- 59:19Speaker 7: we're talking about winning and the value of losing, and
- 59:22Speaker 7: sometimes when you lose a game, you go back and
- 59:25Speaker 7: you look at what happened, what was wrong, and that's
- 59:27Speaker 7: a that's a teachable moment, right You're learning new things
- 59:30Speaker 7: and teachable moments.
- 59:32Speaker 4: I guess that's what I'm that's the that's a perfect title,
- 59:36Speaker 4: teachable moments, and I think that's what we're lacking. Like
- 59:38Speaker 4: I said, I've seen middle school coaches, high school so
- 59:40Speaker 4: spend so much time develop these sophisticated office but and
- 59:44Speaker 4: again they're just teaching the offense and teaching the technical
- 59:47Speaker 4: skills in order to execute set off. And at the
- 59:49Speaker 4: younger level, there's no reason to yell at them and
- 59:51Speaker 4: scream at them and talk about what they did or
- 59:54Speaker 4: didn't do. Show them, show them, show them, tell them,
- 59:57Speaker 4: tell them. Get the board, clipboard, this is show this
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: is what you do. You should do it this way
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: because maybe they just don't get it. And I'm guarantee
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: they just don't get it. They don't know because maybe
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: you can't reach his block because you're stepping wrong, or
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: it could be really nuanced like that, and I think
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: that's what we've been missing. And when you look at
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: sort of you know, even playing the NFL, it's not
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: I mean it's okay. I mean the games that I watch,
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: it's just been alright, it's not been like great, amazing
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: play all the.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Time, you know, right, it's just play. It's just play.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: Yeah, So all right, Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna
