- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike Lane. After the game against Colorado, you're talking
- 0:05Speaker 1: about the irony of how this team has been playing
- 0:08Speaker 1: well despite the results, and maybe playing better now than
- 0:11Speaker 1: maybe in those stretches when they were winning. Looking back
- 0:14Speaker 1: at the game against the Colorado Avalanche, what did you
- 0:16Speaker 1: like most about the game and where do you felt
- 0:19Speaker 1: where do you feel the Kraken may have faltered a bit?
- 0:21Speaker 1: And trying to pull that.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Over the line. We played with pace.
- 0:26Speaker 3: You know, I thought our team was faster through the
- 0:28Speaker 3: neutral zone, and I thought we I thought we did
- 0:32Speaker 3: some good things offensively joining the rush obviously, you know
- 0:36Speaker 3: the ever League goal, you know, with Larsen going to
- 0:40Speaker 3: the backside, I thought, you know Wright's goal, with Alexiak
- 0:45Speaker 3: driving through the middle, We've created some more opportunity from
- 0:48Speaker 3: that standpoint, and we just played a faster.
- 0:51Speaker 2: More direct game. You know, where did we falter?
- 0:56Speaker 3: We make little mistakes that you know, end up costing us.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Just a simple control breakout where we you know.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Double double clutch, don't execute, take a penalty, and then
- 1:08Speaker 3: the next thing, you know, it's in the back of
- 1:09Speaker 3: the net. It's mind boggling, to be honest with you,
- 1:12Speaker 3: that you know, we play so well, and we we
- 1:15Speaker 3: haven't come out on the good side of things. But
- 1:20Speaker 3: if we can clean up that stuff, then we'll, you know,
- 1:23Speaker 3: we'll get back on the road that we need to
- 1:26Speaker 3: be on.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Not the first time we've seen Seattle play the top teams,
- 1:30Speaker 1: top stars in this league. Well, go back to a
- 1:33Speaker 1: couple of games against Winnipeg Edmondson this year. How do
- 1:36Speaker 1: you harness that momentum and that energy that we saw
- 1:38Speaker 1: last night moving forward here to tonight.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Well, to be honest with you, it shouldn't be hard.
- 1:43Speaker 3: It's you know, players are professionals. They getting paid a
- 1:47Speaker 3: lot of money to play this hockey game, and they
- 1:50Speaker 3: need to be ready every night.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Any update on Brandon Montour, I know he was out,
- 1:55Speaker 1: didn't return for the third period after that skirmish early
- 1:57Speaker 1: in the period.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Can you share an update on him? He's he's out
- 2:00Speaker 2: tonight and that's all. That's all I know for right now.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Looking at the schedule for Seattle, you've got four games
- 2:05Speaker 1: on this road trip before the holiday break, all in division,
- 2:08Speaker 1: all against teams that are right with you or above
- 2:11Speaker 1: you in the standings. Do you put any more importance
- 2:14Speaker 1: or significance on these four games? Just given the spot
- 2:17Speaker 1: that Seattle's in right now.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously, you know we're you know, we came off
- 2:24Speaker 3: our road trip about you know, three weeks ago, we
- 2:27Speaker 3: had a nice stretch of home games. You know, we
- 2:30Speaker 3: haven't gotten what we wanted out of those home games
- 2:34Speaker 3: at all, and that just adds the significance of these
- 2:38Speaker 3: next four games before the holidays.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Some sickness going around the locker room, but it seems
- 2:42Speaker 1: like the cracket, at least in practice and in the
- 2:44Speaker 1: last couple of games, have been able to play through that.
- 2:47Speaker 1: What is the state of this team just given all
- 2:50Speaker 1: of that sickness and illness going around the room.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I think we're I think we're good. I think we're
- 2:57Speaker 3: kind of getting on the good side of it. You know,
- 3:00Speaker 3: we were worse off last week than we are right now,
- 3:03Speaker 3: so that's a positive.
- 3:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And like I said, there aren't any excuses. You know,
- 3:12Speaker 3: we have guys that have played sick. I think they've
- 3:14Speaker 3: played well when they've played sick.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Some guys that want a really good job of that,
- 3:19Speaker 2: and you know there's been guys that just haven't been
- 3:21Speaker 2: able to go. We're not at that point right now
- 3:23Speaker 2: with anybody.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Calgary Flames have a very strong penalty kill. They have
- 3:27Speaker 1: played a lot better their last ten games and they
- 3:30Speaker 1: did their first ten or fifteen games. What is it
- 3:32Speaker 1: about the Flames that presents a lot of issues for
- 3:35Speaker 1: your team tonight? Where have you seen the biggest growth
- 3:38Speaker 1: in their game from game one to where we're going
- 3:40Speaker 1: to see tonight.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Well, I think at the start of the year they were,
- 3:43Speaker 3: you know, doing what we're kind of doing now, making
- 3:45Speaker 3: a mistake here and a mistake there, which was costing them,
- 3:48Speaker 3: and it's tough to get off that track.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But they've found a way to do that.
- 3:53Speaker 3: They're special teams and certainly their penalty kill has been
- 3:56Speaker 3: very good for them, and they've got a balanced line
- 3:59Speaker 3: up it they're.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Big, and you know, they play hard, they play physical,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and you know that's kind of their mo o. And
- 4:09Speaker 2: our challenge.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Is we've got to come out and compete, and we've
- 4:11Speaker 3: got to come out in battle. You're gonna have to
- 4:14Speaker 3: win your one on one battles. The game hasn't changed
- 4:16Speaker 3: for one hundred and twenty five years. It's one on
- 4:19Speaker 3: one battles, and we've got to find a way to
- 4:23Speaker 3: win more of those, certainly on the walls in our zone.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Coming out of our zone.
- 4:27Speaker 3: If you look at their second goal and even their
- 4:31Speaker 3: third goal, you know we lose wall battles last game
- 4:34Speaker 3: and it ends up in the back of our nets.
- 4:37Speaker 3: So you know, our players as we continue to grow,
- 4:40Speaker 3: and certainly players that haven't played in this league very much,
- 4:43Speaker 3: as they continue to learn and grow the understanding of
- 4:46Speaker 3: those imperative things, those little things that make all the
- 4:50Speaker 3: difference in the world, have to get better.
