- 0:07Speaker 1: Get excited for this season preview on the Cleveland Guardians.
- 0:11Speaker 1: What we do is we make sure you're caught up
- 0:12Speaker 1: on what they did in the offseason, and then we
- 0:15Speaker 1: spin it forward to see what the projections say about
- 0:18Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six campaign for Cleveland. So first of all,
- 0:21Speaker 1: this isn't going to take long. They added three arms.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Sean Armstrong who they gave some solid money to on
- 0:26Speaker 1: a one year contract, Colin Holderman brought over and Connor Brogden.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And guys, those three, I'm sure we'll turn into studs.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I mean, some of them had good times in their
- 0:35Speaker 1: career already, but we know what Cleveland does with these
- 0:38Speaker 1: types of signings. On the other side, losses include Shane
- 0:42Speaker 1: Bieber mid season last year and Leane Thomas's and part
- 0:44Speaker 1: of the mix for twenty twenty six Jacob Junas, Will Brennan,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Sam Henches and John Kenzie.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Noel's been bouncing around a little bit too.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So those guys are out, but primarily AJ they are
- 0:58Speaker 1: running it back.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Why not? They made the playoffs?
- 1:01Speaker 4: Why not?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Why not run it back?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Well they didn't.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Why not at all?
- 1:06Speaker 5: They don't have a lot of money to spend.
- 1:07Speaker 2: On towards the bottom, and well, they're.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Counting on the young guys to take another step. Remember
- 1:15Speaker 5: when we had Mike turn off on what he say
- 1:17Speaker 5: they were young. We know we're going to be young,
- 1:19Speaker 5: and we're leaning into it. And the younger we got,
- 1:20Speaker 5: the better we got. So they're hoping those young guys
- 1:23Speaker 5: take another step and continue to grow. By the way, sorry,
- 1:26Speaker 5: it's freezing and it's raining here, so I am also
- 1:29Speaker 5: in the rain because Mark doesn't know how to put
- 1:30Speaker 5: a tent up, so I am getting wet as we speak.
- 1:33Speaker 5: So that's just my Cleveland Guardians season preview is they're
- 1:36Speaker 5: running it back because they're young and they expect them
- 1:39Speaker 5: to take the next step. And they're in the division
- 1:41Speaker 5: the El Central where that can work.
- 1:45Speaker 6: I mean it can work because they have good pitching.
- 1:48Speaker 6: But you're looking at the Guardian's projected.
- 1:50Speaker 7: Lineup right here.
- 1:51Speaker 6: When your fifth hitter has an NA on it, he
- 1:55Speaker 6: means you're counting on somebody from the minor leagues to
- 1:59Speaker 6: step up and be your protection behind Jose Ramirez, who
- 2:05Speaker 6: might hit second, might hit third, But Kyle Manzardo is
- 2:10Speaker 6: a solid player. To me, I always look at the
- 2:13Speaker 6: Guardians and I think back to the Edwin and Carnassian signing.
- 2:17Speaker 7: They went out, they got him.
- 2:19Speaker 6: I think it was three years twenty a year, so
- 2:21Speaker 6: three years sixty And was Edwin er karnassiun the most
- 2:26Speaker 6: athletic person, the most versatile person, the most No, he
- 2:30Speaker 6: was a dude that was gonna come in and give
- 2:32Speaker 6: you meaningful at bats and be an aircraft carrier behind
- 2:37Speaker 6: Francisco Lidoor, behind Lannie chisenhol Jan Gomes Like. They already
- 2:42Speaker 6: had guys in that lineup that were going to carry
- 2:46Speaker 6: the weight, and then they added Edwin. That was gonna
- 2:50Speaker 6: be my question to Mike Chernoff if I had a chance, like,
- 2:54Speaker 6: is there a time what's the magic bullet or what's
- 2:56Speaker 6: the like do they have to get a lottery pick
- 2:59Speaker 6: out and go, oh, this is the year we get
- 3:01Speaker 6: to spend it. Because I think there are a lot
- 3:03Speaker 6: of good young pieces to this and their value is
- 3:06Speaker 6: in their pitching. But this lineup was abysmal last year
- 3:11Speaker 6: at scoring runs and are they going to be abysmo again?
- 3:17Speaker 6: What makes me think otherwise? You have an MVP candidate
- 3:19Speaker 6: in Josey Ramirez, and you have a bunch of other
- 3:23Speaker 6: guys who two years ago Yeah, they had a huge
- 3:26Speaker 6: jump in there in their slug which nobody saw coming
- 3:31Speaker 6: and it dropped back down to Earth. So to me,
- 3:34Speaker 6: that's where the adjustment needs to be made for them.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Could they have made a big acquisition? No, I guess
- 3:41Speaker 6: financially not. But at what time can they do that?
- 3:46Speaker 3: You know how?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Sometimes we say the team is built around one player
- 3:50Speaker 1: in the lineup, and if he goes down, they're in trouble.
- 3:53Speaker 1: We've talked about this with guys like Judge. Is there
- 3:56Speaker 1: a team that's more leveraged with the Jose Ramirez your
- 4:00Speaker 1: top three or top five MVP thing?
- 4:02Speaker 2: Aj? I mean no, they need to be a star
- 4:06Speaker 2: every year. Superstar can drop off.
- 4:08Speaker 5: I mean you could actually, I'll actually say this, you
- 4:11Speaker 5: can throw Judge in there too. For me, you could
- 4:13Speaker 5: throw You could throw Aaron Judge for the Yankees if
- 4:16Speaker 5: he gets hurt or has a down year, that's a
- 4:18Speaker 5: that's going to be a big thing for the Yankees.
- 4:20Speaker 5: But yes, Jose Ramiroz and Aaron Judge, off the top
- 4:23Speaker 5: of my head or the two that mean more to
- 4:25Speaker 5: their organization than most.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Here's where things get interesting. So we'll start with the
- 4:31Speaker 1: fangrafts projections. On the win totals, and we'll go in
- 4:35Speaker 1: order here so you can see where they put them.
- 4:38Speaker 1: They have the Tigers at the top and here's their
- 4:41Speaker 1: first their own win loss, just seventy five point eight
- 4:44Speaker 1: from Fangrafts. We've gone over the bet MGM number, which
- 4:48Speaker 1: is eighty and a half wins. So bet MGM thinks
- 4:50Speaker 1: they'll be a little better than what Fangrafts has them at.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And I agree with bet MGM here over Fangrafts, but
- 4:57Speaker 1: we can put it next to the rest of the
- 4:58Speaker 1: teams in the division. I can make an easy flip
- 5:01Speaker 1: right here. Whatever call me biased, why, I just don't
- 5:04Speaker 1: see it exactly. We all feel that way on Fangrafts.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Move the Twins down and benham Jam has them lower
- 5:09Speaker 1: than that. But seventy eight point six is where Fangrafts
- 5:12Speaker 1: has the Twins a few games ahead of the Guardians.
- 5:15Speaker 1: No thanks, Guardians won the division last year. That part
- 5:18Speaker 1: should be shocking alone. AJA The Tigers did some things right.
- 5:22Speaker 1: They added to their irritation. They have fromber in there
- 5:24Speaker 1: to hopefully be a one two punch for them with Scooble,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and fromber they added Berlander towards the back end here
- 5:29Speaker 1: to kind of fill the riese Oulsen void that is
- 5:32Speaker 1: placed there when he goes down for the season with
- 5:35Speaker 1: the shoulder surgery. But then it's the Royals, the Twins,
- 5:38Speaker 1: the Guardians, the White Sox. Do you think the Guardians
- 5:40Speaker 1: are only going to be a seventy six win fourth
- 5:42Speaker 1: place team?
- 5:43Speaker 3: No?
- 5:44Speaker 7: No.
- 5:44Speaker 5: I will never been against Stephen Vote and I'll never
- 5:47Speaker 5: get bet against what the Guardians.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Have been able to do.
- 5:50Speaker 5: How they do it, I have no idea, but they
- 5:52Speaker 5: get it done every single year, and they do it right.
- 5:55Speaker 5: They believe in pitching and defense and timely hitting, and
- 5:59Speaker 5: they've done it for what did Mike Cheernof say? They
- 6:01Speaker 5: made the playoffs seven in the last ten years? So
- 6:03Speaker 5: how can you say that they're gonna win seventy six
- 6:06Speaker 5: games when, like you said, Scott, they won the division
- 6:08Speaker 5: last year. I think that numbers low. I think the
- 6:09Speaker 5: White Sex numbers low. I think the Twins numbers too high.
- 6:13Speaker 5: The Royals you can say is about right, and then
- 6:16Speaker 5: the Tigers are you know, they're they're the favorite. So
- 6:20Speaker 5: the numbers you can manipulate a little bit. But I'm
- 6:23Speaker 5: not betting against the Guardians.
- 6:27Speaker 7: I don't think they're a playoff team.
- 6:29Speaker 6: I don't think they're enough of a playoff team in
- 6:32Speaker 6: this division. I think I think I'd flip flop the
- 6:35Speaker 6: Twins and the Guardians. I think the Royals are going
- 6:38Speaker 6: to give the Tigers the biggest push this year. I
- 6:41Speaker 6: think the Royals push to make adjustments. I think they're
- 6:44Speaker 6: going to be a at you know, advantage Jack Kglion,
- 6:48Speaker 6: I think he's gonna make the next step. I think
- 6:51Speaker 6: moving the fences in could hurt them in help them
- 6:54Speaker 6: a little bit. I think it'll be net zero because
- 6:57Speaker 6: both teams get to play on the same fences. But
- 7:00Speaker 6: I truly think this Guardians team, I don't think they
- 7:04Speaker 6: did enough. And I think it took an act of
- 7:09Speaker 6: God for them to be able to make it to
- 7:11Speaker 6: the playoffs last year and win the division, so they
- 7:15Speaker 6: would need to do that again.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I took an act of the Tigers collapsing. Tiger still
- 7:24Speaker 1: made it, and then you also had other collapses.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I mean, too much.
- 7:30Speaker 6: Too much has to go wrong for other teams, and
- 7:32Speaker 6: I don't think. I don't think the Tigers will have
- 7:35Speaker 6: that happen again.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I think they've.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Clearly pushed in areas that I think they should have
- 7:41Speaker 6: added more offense. But we'll talk about that when we
- 7:43Speaker 6: do the Tigers season. But I think this division has
- 7:47Speaker 6: gotten better. I don't think the Guardians have done enough.
- 7:52Speaker 6: All right, we got the Warby Parkers, I got the Raiders,
- 7:55Speaker 6: but one thing that upgraded to polarized.
- 7:59Speaker 7: Sorry about it.
- 8:00Speaker 8: Yeah, these are good not only for wearing, but also
- 8:03Speaker 8: out in the sun. When I become that baseball coach,
- 8:05Speaker 8: I always want to be with my kids. I got
- 8:07Speaker 8: the Hatchers. They're darker, a little bit wider for my face.
- 8:11Speaker 8: They fit perfect, They're comfortable. It's an easy process to
- 8:14Speaker 8: order these really really cool glasses.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I am a diehard Warby Parker fan. I do have
- 8:20Speaker 1: prescription glasses and I wear Warby Parker every day for
- 8:23Speaker 1: many years.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'm excited about this one. Give it a shot.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Warby Parker gives you quality and better looking prescription I
- 8:29Speaker 1: wear at a fraction of the going price.

- 8:51Speaker 1: Territory sent you.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Back here on Foul Territory with Kate Smith, Guardian's Closer Extraordinary.
- 8:58Speaker 3: What's it like?
- 8:59Speaker 5: First of all, we get into spring because I hate
- 9:01Speaker 5: just jumping into spring training. University of Hawaii at Manoa. No,
- 9:06Speaker 5: that's not even the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. How
- 9:10Speaker 5: does a Canadian run into it? Or is that Honolulu
- 9:14Speaker 5: is the Honolulu one?
- 9:15Speaker 9: So they have a couple different campuses around the islands.
- 9:18Speaker 9: So Manoa is the one that's just outside Honolulu.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Okay, because I played at the University of Hawaii, the
- 9:23Speaker 5: main one, the Rainbow one. The Rainbow that's it. That's
- 9:25Speaker 5: the one you went to. Yeah, okay, yeah, so oh
- 9:28Speaker 5: so you got to follow my footstuffs.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I guess.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Granted you weren't even born when I played there. I
- 9:32Speaker 5: played there in nineteen ninety seven in the Winter League.
- 9:35Speaker 5: They had Hawaii Winter How does a Canadian end up
- 9:38Speaker 5: at the University of Hawaii?
- 9:39Speaker 6: Uh?
- 9:39Speaker 9: Yeah, I actually there was a guy that I played
- 9:42Speaker 9: high school baseball with who was a year older than me.
- 9:43Speaker 9: He ended up going there before I did, so there
- 9:46Speaker 9: was a little bit of a president there already. And
- 9:49Speaker 9: then I went to the Tournament twelve in Toronto, which
- 9:51Speaker 9: is a big tournament that Jase put on for all
- 9:54Speaker 9: sorts of Canadian baseball players coming up. And that's where
- 9:57Speaker 9: the Hawaii coach saw me pitch there and then had
- 9:59Speaker 9: me out for visit it.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And not too long after.
- 10:01Speaker 3: That, I was from Canada and you go to Hawaii though, yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 3: that's automatic.
- 10:05Speaker 9: Right, Well, I mean I knew that I wanted to
- 10:06Speaker 9: be somewhere that you could be year round outside. I
- 10:09Speaker 9: had had enough of the rain and the indoors batty
- 10:12Speaker 9: cage is thrown into a net and stuff like that.
- 10:14Speaker 9: So that's one of the things I was looking for
- 10:16Speaker 9: going to college.
- 10:16Speaker 5: You know, when I played for the Bananas last year,
- 10:19Speaker 5: I caught a kid that went to uh Hawaii. Really
- 10:23Speaker 5: Arch is Arch daddy afy Arch Jeez, I forgot it
- 10:27Speaker 5: and I just blanked on his last name.
- 10:28Speaker 4: But he pitched at Hawaii.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And then I played with Colton Long, who obviously was
- 10:31Speaker 5: a Rainbow Warrior legend forever. But I won a title
- 10:35Speaker 5: there too, so it's okay, we have that in common. Okay,
- 10:40Speaker 5: when you get when you go grew up in Canada,
- 10:43Speaker 5: how do you get into baseball? I know the Blue
- 10:44Speaker 5: Jays were.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Popular or art now they're more popular probably than ever.
- 10:48Speaker 5: But when you grow up in Canada, how do you
- 10:50Speaker 5: end up getting into baseball when it's so hockey prevalent
- 10:53Speaker 5: and it's hockey hockey, hockey.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:55Speaker 9: Uh So both my parents played college basketball. My dad
- 10:59Speaker 9: grew up just aside Toronto, so he was a fan
- 11:01Speaker 9: of the Jays and then moved to just outside Vancouver.
- 11:03Speaker 4: And so.
- 11:06Speaker 9: They also are both pee teachers, and they emphasized just
- 11:10Speaker 9: playing sports and trying them. So I played basketball and volleyball,
- 11:14Speaker 9: I did a little bit track and field, and I
- 11:15Speaker 9: played baseball. Really I played all four, like multiple sports,
- 11:19Speaker 9: all the way up until my senior year of high school.
- 11:21Speaker 9: And so I just it happened to be baseball as
- 11:24Speaker 9: one that I loved. It was also the one that
- 11:26Speaker 9: I had the most potential in to develop and progress
- 11:30Speaker 9: the next level.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Who's your guy? Who's your guy that you followed that
- 11:34Speaker 6: you were like, I kind of liked that? Or were
- 11:37Speaker 6: you not a big baseball fan while you were coming
- 11:39Speaker 6: while you were growing up?
- 11:42Speaker 9: I would say that I had other interests than just
- 11:44Speaker 9: watching sports all day. But my dad would always tell
- 11:47Speaker 9: me to watch Roy Halliday and.
- 11:48Speaker 4: The way he pitched.
- 11:50Speaker 3: You pitched nothing like Roy. No, I know, you're as
- 11:54Speaker 3: big as Roy was, but Roy.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Was more of like a sinker, curveball lit a cutter.
- 11:57Speaker 5: You're just like rare back, here comes a forcing.
- 12:00Speaker 9: But that was also before I, you know, I really
- 12:02Speaker 9: developed my strength and understood that and stepped into my own.
- 12:05Speaker 9: It was just more so hearing the stories about how
- 12:08Speaker 9: diligent he was with his work ethic and and you know,
- 12:10Speaker 9: how disciplined he was and things like that.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he was he crutch, I think creps. Did you
- 12:14Speaker 3: play with him in Philly?
- 12:16Speaker 6: I played with him in Toronto well, coming up through
- 12:19Speaker 6: the Blue Jays and then and then played with him
- 12:21Speaker 6: in Philly for three years. And you're one hundred percent
- 12:23Speaker 6: like very very humble and like he does. He just
- 12:28Speaker 6: assumed everybody was going to work just as hard as
- 12:30Speaker 6: he did. And nobody ever ever got to that point.
- 12:33Speaker 6: People say that about people, but I watched it and
- 12:36Speaker 6: I he lived it out like he was diligent.
- 12:40Speaker 7: In his work like crazy. It was awesome to see.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Are you playing you playing WBC. No, you turned down Canada?
- 12:48Speaker 4: Yeah I did you had to?
- 12:50Speaker 3: Or did you?
- 12:50Speaker 4: No?
- 12:50Speaker 6: No?
- 12:51Speaker 4: No, it was my decision.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Okay, well what goes what goes into that? Because Freddy
- 12:54Speaker 5: Freeman also turned down Canada? Right, so what goes into
- 12:57Speaker 5: that decision of I'm not going to play? And you
- 13:00Speaker 5: did it before, so it's not like it's just your
- 13:02Speaker 5: first one.
- 13:03Speaker 4: No.
- 13:04Speaker 9: In twenty three it was a phenomenal experience, Like that
- 13:06Speaker 9: was my first experience pitching in major league stadiums in
- 13:09Speaker 9: front of sold out crowds in that kind of environment,
- 13:11Speaker 9: and I had so much fun and enjoyed that. So
- 13:15Speaker 9: just this year, being at kind of where things architecturally,
- 13:19Speaker 9: I didn't feel that it was wise for me to
- 13:21Speaker 9: take that time away, and so I wanted to make
- 13:23Speaker 9: sure that I was here and completely president focused on
- 13:27Speaker 9: the year coming up.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Talk about here, talk about being a guardian, because when
- 13:32Speaker 6: I was in the organization twenty seventeen, they had a
- 13:36Speaker 6: very strict protocol on relievers. You would play high A
- 13:40Speaker 6: and then you would finish the season in Double A,
- 13:42Speaker 6: Double A for a whole season, and finish the season
- 13:45Speaker 6: in Triple A. Did you appreciate the slow trudge or
- 13:49Speaker 6: because your path went a little quicker than some other guys.
- 13:53Speaker 6: Do you think it was something that maybe I could
- 13:56Speaker 6: have gone faster.
- 13:58Speaker 9: No, I'm I'm I think the timing was perfect in
- 14:03Speaker 9: its own way, because when I came in this organization
- 14:06Speaker 9: like I was, I was eighty eight to ninety two,
- 14:09Speaker 9: I didn't have very good off site pitches. I had
- 14:11Speaker 9: maybe topped out at ninety four, and I didn't know
- 14:14Speaker 9: my you know, didn't know my strengths, didn't know how
- 14:16Speaker 9: to pitch, didn't know how to like try and read
- 14:19Speaker 9: hitters and work to my strengths in that regard. And
- 14:22Speaker 9: so every subsequent season was I was learning something, I
- 14:26Speaker 9: was developing something. I was building on that foundation that
- 14:30Speaker 9: I have been, you know, working with with the staff
- 14:33Speaker 9: here and trying to trying to take advantage of the
- 14:36Speaker 9: resources they provide and dig in and just continue to
- 14:40Speaker 9: build and build and build. So it never felt like
- 14:43Speaker 9: it was slow or like I was Stocker should have
- 14:48Speaker 9: been moving on for me.
- 14:50Speaker 4: The whole whole, you know, way I viewed it.
- 14:53Speaker 9: Was this is where I am because there's something that
- 14:56Speaker 9: I need to learn and work on in order for
- 14:58Speaker 9: me to move to the next level.
- 14:59Speaker 4: And stick.
- 15:01Speaker 6: The Gardiens have proven that they can create starting pitchers.
- 15:05Speaker 6: But obviously you're a reliever. At what point did you know?
- 15:09Speaker 6: At what point were you in Hi A Double A,
- 15:11Speaker 6: Were you like dang, like, I think I get what
- 15:15Speaker 6: they're saying, and I think this is going to be
- 15:18Speaker 6: dominant in the big leagues because you have only dominated
- 15:20Speaker 6: since you've been up in the big leagues.
- 15:24Speaker 9: It was probably, I would say that it was probably
- 15:28Speaker 9: when I was in Triple A. There there was an
- 15:30Speaker 9: adjustment period when I got there, but then there was
- 15:34Speaker 9: there was a stretch down the end of the year
- 15:36Speaker 9: where I was starting to see things coming together and
- 15:39Speaker 9: I was starting to pitch and feel like I was,
- 15:42Speaker 9: you know, understanding that I have a complete arsenal on
- 15:44Speaker 9: how to use it and to really work with my
- 15:47Speaker 9: strengths and also compliment them with my other pitches and
- 15:50Speaker 9: roll from there.
- 15:52Speaker 5: When you start figuring it out, you come up to
- 15:55Speaker 5: the big leagues. You have an incredible rookie season in
- 15:58Speaker 5: twenty four right, I mean under a two VR a
- 16:01Speaker 5: way more strikeouts than aning's pitched, and everyone's talking about
- 16:03Speaker 5: you. You go in the postseason, you dominate, You get to
- 16:06Speaker 5: you get to become a legitimate person that people talk about,
- 16:10Speaker 5: and they say, oh, no, we don't want to get
- 16:12Speaker 5: to Kate Smith coming into the game in the seventh
- 16:14Speaker 5: or eighth inning because you had Class A behind you.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Stuff happened with Class A. Then you get thrown to
- 16:19Speaker 5: the closer's role. How do you just jump from a
- 16:22Speaker 5: seventh eight inning guy to oh, my gosh, I have
- 16:24Speaker 5: to get the last three outs of a game.
- 16:27Speaker 9: I think that the biggest thing comes down in my faith.
- 16:30Speaker 9: My identity is not in in how I perform or
- 16:34Speaker 9: what I do. That's temporary. That's going to be taken
- 16:35Speaker 9: for me at some point, whether I want it to
- 16:37Speaker 9: be or not. And so it really is that's the
- 16:41Speaker 9: thing that I'm going to be anchored on. That's the
- 16:43Speaker 9: thing that I am stable in and steadying. And when
- 16:46Speaker 9: I pitch, I get to go out there and just
- 16:48Speaker 9: compete and have fun. So regardless of the context there,
- 16:51Speaker 9: I'm sure there was a there was an adjustment. Yes,
- 16:53Speaker 9: it's a it's a different situation, there's a different energy
- 16:57Speaker 9: in the ballpark, but it's fun and it's it's an
- 17:00Speaker 9: opportunity that you know, I got to pitch in last
- 17:02Speaker 9: year that I'm grateful for and so I'm going to
- 17:05Speaker 9: make sure I'm doing everything i can before the game,
- 17:08Speaker 9: after the game, between the next game, during the offseason
- 17:11Speaker 9: to prepare and put myself in the best position to,
- 17:14Speaker 9: you know, step up and fulfill that responsibility. If they
- 17:17Speaker 9: if the phone rings and my name is called.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Explain that because you were a rookie, explain you know
- 17:23Speaker 6: your faith and what the feeling, the feeling that you
- 17:26Speaker 6: have because you were a rookie in some of the
- 17:29Speaker 6: biggest spots and it was like, lou get kid up,
- 17:33Speaker 6: like he's coming in in the playoffs. Yes, we're talking
- 17:37Speaker 6: about closer and regular season now on a consistent basis,
- 17:39Speaker 6: but in the playoffs, tell us how your heartbeat was rolling,
- 17:43Speaker 6: and tell us like the enjoyment, because on the mound
- 17:46Speaker 6: it looks like you're just like that was cool.
- 17:49Speaker 7: That was a fun game. Thanks for letting me play.
- 17:51Speaker 9: Guys, No, there's no doubt it is. It is so
- 17:55Speaker 9: much fun. And the anticipation that's a very real thing.
- 17:59Speaker 9: Like that energy builds in the bullpen as as we're
- 18:02Speaker 9: watching the game and how things progress, like everyone's aware
- 18:05Speaker 9: of what's going on and you know it's a close game,
- 18:08Speaker 9: it's back and forth. It's gritty, like we're we're bought in.
- 18:11Speaker 9: We're completely aware of what's going on there. But that
- 18:16Speaker 9: was one of the big lessons I took from the
- 18:18Speaker 9: WBC in twenty twenty three was going into pitch in
- 18:21Speaker 9: for the first time in a sold out stadium and
- 18:25Speaker 9: looking back on it and being like, oh, that was
- 18:26Speaker 9: that was fun? Like I actually I enjoyed that, Like
- 18:29Speaker 9: there was There's no part of.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Me that was like that was awful.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I never want to do that again.
- 18:32Speaker 9: But it was seeing that actually, for whatever reason, there
- 18:35Speaker 9: is something in me that thinks it's fun to be
- 18:37Speaker 9: in those situations, and so I just I, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 9: I enjoy that and I look forward to it. And
- 18:43Speaker 9: it's really I think as simple as that is that
- 18:45Speaker 9: I enjoy it.
- 18:46Speaker 6: Are you going to have a walk out song or
- 18:49Speaker 6: walk out theatrical performance.
- 18:52Speaker 9: I think that's up to the media team how they
- 18:54Speaker 9: want to do that. I'm that's not That's not what
- 18:57Speaker 9: I know how to do. But yeah, there will be
- 18:59Speaker 9: a song. I have some choice you have to pick. Sure,
- 19:02Speaker 9: they're not gonna run you out there just so, but I'm.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Not gonna go make the video myself, not make the video.
- 19:07Speaker 5: But you get to pick the song right and then
- 19:09Speaker 5: right now it's what fire fired up.
- 19:12Speaker 3: You're gonna stick with that, right?
- 19:13Speaker 4: I think I'm gonna switch it.
- 19:14Speaker 3: You're gonna switch Breaking News two?
- 19:17Speaker 4: Not sure yet?
- 19:17Speaker 3: So dang, I thought we had something there. I thought
- 19:21Speaker 3: we had something. I've been done a lot of Guardians games.
- 19:25Speaker 5: The last few years because you guys, uh, you guys
- 19:28Speaker 5: have been good, so I've had to. I've been there
- 19:30Speaker 5: for for a Budge, had many many means with Tito
- 19:33Speaker 5: before Voter got there. Now I just sit there and
- 19:35Speaker 5: listen to Voter talk for like twenty minutes. He fires
- 19:37Speaker 5: me up.
- 19:39Speaker 4: He does have an act for that.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Yes, who's your favorite? Who's your favorite? Walk out of
- 19:43Speaker 6: the other closers in the league? Active, active, war or past?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Uh?
- 19:57Speaker 4: I think that I I I like Howsley looking out
- 20:00Speaker 4: to Hell's bells.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Yeah, but so you stole that. You can't. You can't.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It doesn't work. I'm sorry, it doesn't work. No, because
- 20:05Speaker 3: I was Trevor Hofflin, So you can't. I get it.
- 20:08Speaker 5: But there's got you gotta go highway to Hell. You know,
- 20:10Speaker 5: there's got to be another strong with Hell and it
- 20:12Speaker 5: Besides Hell's bells. We just can't go, you know, like
- 20:15Speaker 5: I told him that too when we got him on,
- 20:16Speaker 5: I'm like, Brian, I love you, but you can't. You
- 20:19Speaker 5: can't steal Trevor Hoffins. Sure, and it's iconic. He's in
- 20:22Speaker 5: the Hall of Fame banks hundred saves. He laughed, and
- 20:25Speaker 5: he still went with it. He really didn't listen to
- 20:27Speaker 5: me very well.
- 20:29Speaker 6: All right, Kate, I got I got one last one
- 20:31Speaker 6: for you. You guys still do the beep test in
- 20:34Speaker 6: spring training? No we don't, Okay, no you don't do it. No,
- 20:39Speaker 6: we don't do it.
- 20:41Speaker 7: Did you ever do it when you were a minor leaguer?
- 20:44Speaker 4: I did it in high school. That was the last time.
- 20:47Speaker 4: What's the beep?
- 20:49Speaker 7: Terrible question?
- 20:50Speaker 6: They used to do the beep test in spring training,
- 20:53Speaker 6: and basically, you have to get you have to get
- 20:56Speaker 6: to the to the end point and back before it
- 20:59Speaker 6: beef twice. Anyway, it was a big It was a
- 21:02Speaker 6: big Guardians when I played for him. It was an
- 21:03Speaker 6: Indians thing. So terrible question doesn't apply anymore. I figured
- 21:07Speaker 6: you would have won because pitchers usually competed for it.
- 21:10Speaker 9: And then they shortened the time between beeps. You gotta
- 21:12Speaker 9: be running faster and faster and faster.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we didn't have I never had that, so
- 21:17Speaker 5: I don't even know. I never even ran a sixty
- 21:18Speaker 5: when I was playing. So I one of the funniest
- 21:21Speaker 5: I thought, beep test is like to check your hearing.
- 21:24Speaker 3: No, okay, all right, I had no idea. All right,
- 21:28Speaker 3: before I let you go, I gotta ask you this. Uh.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Sebrowski was here and he's a Canadian born and he's
- 21:34Speaker 5: a giant, like you, What the hell are y'all putting
- 21:36Speaker 5: in your water?
- 21:38Speaker 9: But there's been comments that we might switch our bullpen
- 21:41Speaker 9: into an offensive line or something.
- 21:42Speaker 5: And so I mean every Canadian I'm looking at a
- 21:45Speaker 5: list of active Canadians are all gigantic. So what I
- 21:48Speaker 5: mean besides you and Sebrowski and then Quantrell's big, Romano's
- 21:53Speaker 5: a big guy, Pavetta's a big guy, Brash is a
- 21:55Speaker 5: big guy.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:56Speaker 5: You guys are only pitchers, so I mean you have
- 21:59Speaker 5: nailor right, So he's he's the token, uh position player
- 22:02Speaker 5: in the Canadian group. Everyone else is just gigantic pictures.
- 22:05Speaker 9: Yeah, I can't speak to them, but I drank a
- 22:07Speaker 9: lot of milk growing up. Maybe that has something to
- 22:09Speaker 9: do with it.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
- 22:12Speaker 7: That's okay. Hey, last one, you and I.
- 22:15Speaker 6: This is the first guest we've ever had on the
- 22:17Speaker 6: show that we're starting our fourth season here in March.
- 22:21Speaker 6: You and I are the only two that have ever
- 22:23Speaker 6: been on the same show that went to a Mennonite
- 22:25Speaker 6: high school. I went to a Mennonite high school in Pennsylvania,
- 22:30Speaker 6: Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. You went to a men
- 22:33Speaker 6: in high school clearly farther away in BC.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Mm hmm, that's wild. No school dances at those men
- 22:41Speaker 4: in night high schools.
- 22:43Speaker 7: There was no.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Site your amish like Crats. Dude, do you have a
- 22:48Speaker 5: horse and buggy growing up like Krats does?
- 22:51Speaker 7: Totally different?
- 22:51Speaker 4: No, totally, I know.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Sorry, I'm just we always give Crats because he's from
- 22:55Speaker 5: rural Pennsylvania where there's a lot of.
- 22:58Speaker 9: When I told my wife that when we were dating,
- 23:00Speaker 9: she was like, I told her parents, I think he
- 23:02Speaker 9: might be Amish.
- 23:03Speaker 4: No, I'm not.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Okay, that's good, but your faith based. We love that.
- 23:06Speaker 5: So all the best, good luck, and I can't wait
- 23:10Speaker 5: to see what song you pick and what entrance that
- 23:12Speaker 5: you choose yourself when you come out to.
- 23:14Speaker 3: The to the mount.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 23:17Speaker 5: We have Hunter Gaddis here with some of the best
- 23:20Speaker 5: flow not only on his head but also on his
- 23:24Speaker 5: chin right in all of Major League Baseball. And can
- 23:27Speaker 5: we do we call you a setup guy extraordinary as
- 23:30Speaker 5: Kate Effecion officially taking the closers, and you're the setup
- 23:35Speaker 5: for Kate.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Now, hey, I'll take whatever. I just I just like
- 23:38Speaker 4: the job.
- 23:39Speaker 5: You just like a job or the job. I like
- 23:41Speaker 5: the job you started at one point, Yes, I used too, the.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Job of starting, or the job of relieving.
- 23:49Speaker 10: I like reliving. I like the spur of a moment
- 23:52Speaker 10: going a game.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Did you throw a bullpen today?
- 23:55Speaker 4: I did not? I think one yesterday.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And did you use the iPad and all the tools?
- 23:58Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, all the technology?
- 23:59Speaker 3: Do you?
- 24:00Speaker 4: Yeah? Oh?
- 24:00Speaker 5: Man, man, man man, So are you the the throw
- 24:04Speaker 5: one pitch? And then I'm I gotta see what I.
- 24:06Speaker 10: Threw that only if I'm specifically working on something okay.
- 24:10Speaker 10: Otherwise otherwise I don't touch it. If I feel good
- 24:13Speaker 10: and it comes out good, good location, I don't look at.
- 24:15Speaker 3: What are you looking for? I always asked.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Yesterday we're in Kansas City and we had Reagan's and
- 24:19Speaker 5: Waka and Stevian and you're like, Okay, what are you
- 24:23Speaker 5: looking at? So when you pick up the iPad and
- 24:25Speaker 5: you throw a pitch and you're like that was it? Oh,
- 24:27Speaker 5: and then you say, oh, it's ninety seven point eight
- 24:30Speaker 5: with this vert or horizontal? Are you looking for a
- 24:32Speaker 5: specific metric?
- 24:34Speaker 10: Yeah, not exactly vert or velo per se, Like like
- 24:39Speaker 10: if it if it comes out good, like it and
- 24:41Speaker 10: it feels good, I'm not gonna look at it, okay,
- 24:43Speaker 10: because the only thing the numbers could maybe tell me
- 24:46Speaker 10: is that it wasn't good.
- 24:47Speaker 4: It's like, if it feels good, I'm gonna rock with it.
- 24:49Speaker 10: But uh, it's more like if I'm coming around the ball,
- 24:53Speaker 10: like on the side of my fastball and I'm not
- 24:55Speaker 10: getting that it doesn't feel like I'm getting that vert
- 24:57Speaker 10: I'll go look at the spin direction, say, am I
- 25:01Speaker 10: on the side of it? Am I truly behind it?
- 25:04Speaker 10: And if it just feels weird that day, but I'm
- 25:05Speaker 10: still behind it, good, Just look at it a couple
- 25:07Speaker 10: of times.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Just make sure Hunter.
- 25:10Speaker 6: So many people are looking at like the screens and
- 25:13Speaker 6: the numbers, and you guys have six coaches watching each
- 25:16Speaker 6: bullpen like there's so much going on. Do you feel
- 25:19Speaker 6: like that lends to arm health for pitchers, or do
- 25:23Speaker 6: you feel like it is something that could could make
- 25:28Speaker 6: guys more susceptible to injuries, especially younger guys who are like,
- 25:33Speaker 6: everybody's watching me. Every pitch is videoed, it's all in
- 25:36Speaker 6: the iPad. I have to throw my mac's best pitch.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Ever, I mean, it can definitely add to it.
- 25:46Speaker 10: I wouldn't say, you know, it's easy to do it,
- 25:49Speaker 10: especially the first time. It took me a couple of
- 25:50Speaker 10: years to like, you know, get over. Hey, everybody's watching.
- 25:54Speaker 10: The numbers are on me. But once I realized, like, hey,
- 25:58Speaker 10: those numbers are there to help, just you know, hurt you.
- 26:01Speaker 10: Like you're throwing eighty eight in the bullpen and then
- 26:03Speaker 10: it feels good and everything's coming out good. You know,
- 26:06Speaker 10: that's just as good if you're throwing hard and it's
- 26:09Speaker 10: you know, it looks just as good to me. It's
- 26:11Speaker 10: just it's just a bullpen to me. It's always just
- 26:14Speaker 10: a bullpen to you. Well, what about when you're warming
- 26:16Speaker 10: up for a game. Okay, well let's say now you're warming.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Up for a game. Is you don't care?
- 26:21Speaker 10: No, the only thing I care abouts on the mountain
- 26:23Speaker 10: in the in the field in the game.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 26:25Speaker 5: So when you're warming up to come into the seventh
- 26:27Speaker 5: eighth inning, right in a game, do the coaches stand
- 26:31Speaker 5: there with the iPads.
- 26:33Speaker 4: No?
- 26:33Speaker 3: Not in the game, No, no, not in the bullpen. No, okay,
- 26:36Speaker 3: So you warm up.
- 26:38Speaker 5: So the first pitch of the your outing whatever, let's
- 26:41Speaker 5: you throw a four seamer up right and the guy
- 26:43Speaker 5: swings and misses.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Are you a creeper of ninety seven point six twelve
- 26:50Speaker 3: inches of vert?
- 26:51Speaker 4: For sure? Look good?
- 26:52Speaker 5: Not every time you hide it, or you just because
- 26:56Speaker 5: the guys who just would hide it were worse than
- 26:58Speaker 5: the guys that would just go.
- 26:59Speaker 10: Okay, baifically. I don't have to turn around behind you. No,
- 27:03Speaker 10: it's a it's up broad behind the cutcher. So it's
- 27:05Speaker 10: a little it's a little maybe you get the ball back,
- 27:07Speaker 10: catch it up here.
- 27:08Speaker 4: A little peak.
- 27:08Speaker 5: And because I remember when they first started doing that,
- 27:11Speaker 5: we would yell at the picture.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Four you don't have to look ninety two?
- 27:16Speaker 4: What uh? You know?
- 27:17Speaker 10: In high school and college, like I didn't have the
- 27:19Speaker 10: velos like on boards and stuff. So I finally started
- 27:22Speaker 10: like being able to look at it. I looked because
- 27:24Speaker 10: I I like it especially if you throw hard, Yeah,
- 27:26Speaker 10: it's fun.
- 27:27Speaker 4: It's fun. Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 5: So when you when you punch your guys ticket, you
- 27:30Speaker 5: ever look up and be like you just pointed the scoreboard.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I never, I liked. I like to strut around, catch
- 27:37Speaker 4: my breath.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Okay, you're tired for that pitch clock?
- 27:39Speaker 4: Yeah? Run No, what's more?
- 27:44Speaker 6: What's more disappointing absolutely getting on one like you're like
- 27:48Speaker 6: that came out good? Looking up? Oh it was actually
- 27:53Speaker 6: two miles an hour slower. Or giving up a little
- 27:56Speaker 6: bleeder base hit that you should have made the play on.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It matters.
- 28:02Speaker 10: I mean in the game, I'm just trying to get
- 28:03Speaker 10: three outs. If I'm throwing ninety, if I'm throwing a hundred,
- 28:07Speaker 10: three outs, three outs to me, you.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Know you want to strike everybody.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I don't.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I want to for sure that three outs and a
- 28:14Speaker 4: zero on the board. That's my goal.
- 28:16Speaker 5: So if you give up like three piss missiles, three,
- 28:19Speaker 5: you know, three line drives, you're like, oh, let's fine,
- 28:21Speaker 5: three outs, three ounces of zero three. I may not
- 28:25Speaker 5: be the happiest, but three three ounces there on the board.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I like it. I like it. What was what was
- 28:31Speaker 3: it like when you went from starter reliever?
- 28:35Speaker 5: You say you like relieving more. To me, you come
- 28:37Speaker 5: across as more of a reliever than a star. Most
- 28:39Speaker 5: starters don't look the way you most relieve. You have
- 28:42Speaker 5: a reliever look right, which is great.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I love it.
- 28:46Speaker 5: I think every reliever should look mean and tough and
- 28:48Speaker 5: as nasty as they possibly can, because when you look
- 28:51Speaker 5: out there as a hitter, you look at the guy
- 28:53Speaker 5: and you're like, oh, look, how cute he is. Meanwhile,
- 28:55Speaker 5: you know I want a guy that's out there snarling
- 28:57Speaker 5: and breathing fire. So what was that trends like for you?
- 29:00Speaker 5: Did they did the guardians come to you and say, look,
- 29:02Speaker 5: we tried to get starter, we think your stuff plays better,
- 29:05Speaker 5: or did you go to them and say, I think
- 29:07Speaker 5: I'd be better as a reliever.
- 29:08Speaker 10: I was this spring training of twenty four. I prepared
- 29:12Speaker 10: the off season as a starter, you know, building up
- 29:15Speaker 10: doing forty to fifty pitch bullpens and whatnot. And then
- 29:19Speaker 10: we started games. I think I do an inning here
- 29:22Speaker 10: through two innings, kind of building a starter, and then
- 29:24Speaker 10: it was just like, hey go get one inning, Hey
- 29:26Speaker 10: go get one inning, Hey go get one inning. I
- 29:28Speaker 10: was like, okay, probably not starting, you know, made the team.
- 29:32Speaker 10: They told me I was be in the bullpen, not
- 29:34Speaker 10: no set roll, no nothing, just when my name's called go,
- 29:38Speaker 10: And that's what I did. And I've really enjoyed, like
- 29:41Speaker 10: spur of the moment every day I can be in
- 29:43Speaker 10: the game and it's a lot more fun to me.
- 29:47Speaker 10: We just talked to Mike Turnoff and I had to
- 29:48Speaker 10: ask the terrible question in the room, but he said,
- 29:52Speaker 10: you guys were pretty pissed when the whole class A
- 29:54Speaker 10: thing came out. You're actually somebody who's down there in
- 29:58Speaker 10: a pen with him when that all came out. What
- 30:01Speaker 10: were your emotions and did it galvanize you as a
- 30:04Speaker 10: group in the bullpen?
- 30:07Speaker 4: Uh?
- 30:07Speaker 10: You know, at first it was just kind of like
- 30:09Speaker 10: a stun moment. Uh kind of just let it be,
- 30:16Speaker 10: you know. I just kind of swept it on the rug.
- 30:18Speaker 10: I still had a job to do every single day
- 30:19Speaker 10: showing up, and I just tried to control it I could.
- 30:26Speaker 3: That's a very that's a very veteran answer on Yeah.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Well wait, I have a followed just on the season there.
- 30:34Speaker 1: What a well, Okay, so this is kind of the
- 30:39Speaker 1: fan in me here, hunter, and it's getting more to
- 30:42Speaker 1: how Yeah, you guys certainly were galvanized. You came back
- 30:45Speaker 1: from a ridiculous deficit to take the Tigers down for
- 30:48Speaker 1: the division. I know the postseason didn't go the way
- 30:51Speaker 1: the team wanted it to go, but the regular season
- 30:54Speaker 1: is a freaking marathon, and usually when you see double
- 30:57Speaker 1: digit deficits that late in the season, you're like, yeah,
- 31:00Speaker 1: we're toasted.
- 31:01Speaker 2: So here's my question.
- 31:02Speaker 1: We're not going to throw any player under the bus,
- 31:04Speaker 1: but you don't have to say the name of the player.
- 31:06Speaker 1: There had to be one person at one moment that
- 31:08Speaker 1: joke at least like, well, it's not our year, We're
- 31:10Speaker 1: not winning the division. It's something right like, did you
- 31:14Speaker 1: guys actually look the entire time, and every single person
- 31:17Speaker 1: was like, oh, we got this. We got this, guys,
- 31:19Speaker 1: fifteen in the back of the Tigers, We're getting them.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Like there had to be some moment of whatever it's
- 31:24Speaker 1: called brevity or something. We're like, all right, not this time.
- 31:30Speaker 10: You know, I did one hundred percent honest, I'd never
- 31:33Speaker 10: heard anybody say that we were out of it by
- 31:35Speaker 10: any means. The voter did a real good job of
- 31:38Speaker 10: talking to us each shit every day and just keeping
- 31:41Speaker 10: our spirits up in the down moments, just you know,
- 31:44Speaker 10: to take it one day at a time, and then
- 31:47Speaker 10: it kind of it got I mean we had a
- 31:50Speaker 10: tough time, tough stretch where it was like not as
- 31:53Speaker 10: easy to show up to the park for sure, and
- 31:55Speaker 10: then once when you got there, it was game time
- 31:57Speaker 10: and it kind of goes away, and then we got
- 31:59Speaker 10: hot and started rolling for us and it was a
- 32:02Speaker 10: lot of fun to end it.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Steven Vote's one of my good friends. We played together
- 32:08Speaker 6: several different stops. What does he do that you think
- 32:13Speaker 6: other managers? And I get it, you haven't had other
- 32:15Speaker 6: manager a ton of other managers in the big leagues,
- 32:18Speaker 6: But what does he do that brings you guys together
- 32:22Speaker 6: or what's his like most endearing trait? But then you
- 32:25Speaker 6: also have to say, what's the one thing that's really annoying.
- 32:28Speaker 4: That he does.
- 32:31Speaker 10: I mean, he's really good at just being personal with everybody.
- 32:35Speaker 10: He knows everybody really well. I feel like, you know,
- 32:38Speaker 10: we know him really well. Just when it's time to
- 32:41Speaker 10: joke around and how fun, I mean, that's gonna be
- 32:43Speaker 10: the time, and he'll do it. And then when it's
- 32:45Speaker 10: game time, I think he's like a different person. He's ready,
- 32:48Speaker 10: he's locked in, and I just feel like he's locked
- 32:51Speaker 10: into the game. But then you see him the clubhouse
- 32:53Speaker 10: after and he's hot, like high fiving, smiling and just
- 32:57Speaker 10: real personal. But the only thing I guess to say, like,
- 33:01Speaker 10: I don't know what you said. I was like, don't like,
- 33:03Speaker 10: I don't know if that's the words. It's not that
- 33:04Speaker 10: I don't like anything about him, but We'll be having fun,
- 33:08Speaker 10: have a fun, and then I'll have to snap out
- 33:09Speaker 10: of it, and he's like, oh, I'm your manager.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I gotta got my job.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Yeah, well, welcome, welcome to life in the corporate hierarchy. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 5: it can only it can only be a player, so
- 33:21Speaker 5: long in the fun stop exactly Not I understand that. No,
- 33:24Speaker 5: I'm just kidding. It actually gets better as you get older.
- 33:27Speaker 5: All right, I have two more before we let you go.
- 33:29Speaker 5: One you said, vote gets to know you personal. So
- 33:32Speaker 5: what what does he talk to you about?
- 33:34Speaker 4: Uh? Golf? Really? Yeah, we both enjoy golf. I love
- 33:37Speaker 4: golf and it's just my Uh So.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Now that you're done, it's eleven fifty two, are you
- 33:41Speaker 5: going to play fifteen? And hear that mark here, that's
- 33:46Speaker 5: good man two fifteen tea time.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Ma, It's unbelievable. Some of us can't ever get out
- 33:51Speaker 3: of here.
- 33:52Speaker 4: You gotta get it in when you can. That's right.
- 33:53Speaker 5: I know someone's got some of us gotta You know,
- 33:55Speaker 5: we gotta work twice today, Hunter. We can't all just
- 33:57Speaker 5: throw a bullpens yesterday and take it easy. And then
- 33:59Speaker 5: the last for me, we had Kate on or we
- 34:02Speaker 5: had Kate on.
- 34:03Speaker 4: I talked to Kate.
- 34:05Speaker 5: He said he has a new song he's coming out to.
- 34:08Speaker 5: I'm a firm believer that only the closer gets the
- 34:12Speaker 5: walkout song and the fire entrance. You're not a closer yet,
- 34:16Speaker 5: you might be someday. Do you think it's okay for
- 34:19Speaker 5: setup man to get the fire entrance in the song?
- 34:22Speaker 4: For sure?
- 34:23Speaker 10: I think anybody should go, sir, we're playing a game
- 34:28Speaker 10: for the fans out there to enjoy. I think a
- 34:30Speaker 10: good intro and everything.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Why not?
- 34:33Speaker 3: Oh man, I was liking you too, and then you
- 34:35Speaker 3: went ruined it. Oh come on, now, I'm not talking about.
- 34:40Speaker 9: No.
- 34:40Speaker 7: It's fun.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It's like can you imagine? Can you imagine?
- 34:43Speaker 1: It's like maybe like five years from now, like Edwin
- 34:46Speaker 1: Diez isn't a closer anymore, and he's like a fifth
- 34:48Speaker 1: inning guy, and like the starter gets like just destroyed
- 34:51Speaker 1: and it's like ten two and it's like burn up, like,
- 34:55Speaker 1: oh here, gos, it's funny.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Do you have to have the lead when you come
- 35:03Speaker 3: in to have the music?
- 35:04Speaker 10: I don't know if you necessarily have to, but it's gotta.
- 35:06Speaker 10: It's gotta be a good, enjoyable game for the fans.
- 35:09Speaker 10: That's I mean, that's why we're there, That's why they
- 35:11Speaker 10: show up. Okay, I mean give it to it Hunter.
- 35:15Speaker 6: My last question, I asked Kade this, but off camera,
- 35:18Speaker 6: I asked Kad Smith this, does the boneyard, the plane boneyard,
- 35:23Speaker 6: which is right next to Goodyear, does it freak you
- 35:26Speaker 6: out at all? Because when I played there, freaked me
- 35:28Speaker 6: out because planes will take off and land there, But
- 35:31Speaker 6: it's all decommissioned planes that are there, and I'm like,
- 35:35Speaker 6: who is flying those? I feel like it's like the
- 35:37Speaker 6: bullpen guys of of pilots?
- 35:40Speaker 7: Am I right or wrong?
- 35:43Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:43Speaker 10: I've never even thought about it. You put way more
- 35:45Speaker 10: thought into it than I have. I just see planes there,
- 35:48Speaker 10: I don't.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I actually just think it's cool that they're all there.
- 35:50Speaker 10: It is kind of cool to see her unless you
- 35:52Speaker 10: gotta play catch here and you got planes in your
- 35:54Speaker 10: someone's letting go of the ball right into a white plane.
- 35:56Speaker 4: That's not too funny.
- 35:57Speaker 10: But now I see a bunch of the small planes
- 36:00Speaker 10: I like take off and on a weddy day, even
- 36:03Speaker 10: like today, you're not in there. You're not a flyer. No,
- 36:06Speaker 10: I feel like I'm already over the weight them in
- 36:08Speaker 10: those days.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Hunter, this was great. Thank you for the time. Enjoy camp,
- 36:16Speaker 1: Enjoy your tea time. Think of a j you know
- 36:19Speaker 1: at every tea time that he doesn't get to enjoy,
- 36:23Speaker 1: and feel really bad for Him's.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Got a grind man, teams players.
- 36:29Speaker 2: He chose to be a catcher, that's his loss.
- 36:32Speaker 1: And now he's chosen to be a broadcaster for really
- 36:35Speaker 1: a number of networks, Ours, box, et cetera.
- 36:37Speaker 2: So he's a busy man. So enjoy your free afternoon,
- 36:39Speaker 2: all right, Appreciate it.
