• 0:27
SPEAKER_00: All right, Rich, it it's in and it's murder.
• 0:31
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's the word we just got from inside the courtroom.
• 0:34
  SPEAKER_07: Our our produces there.
• 0:35
SPEAKER_07: Just simple text, uh, guilty of murder.
• 0:38
  SPEAKER_07: And that's first degree.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_07: I think it's assumed it's first degree because uh that was what was on the table.
• 0:43
SPEAKER_07: It was made further, it was the lesser charge, and murder.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_07: And murder, as we talked about before, carries uh five years to 99 years.
• 0:51
SPEAKER_07: I was I was also told by the PEIO uh in the courtroom that they they may now deliberate uh further on sentencing.
• 1:01
SPEAKER_07: They didn't like they told us this before the verdict, so it's possible that they're also gonna weigh in on sentencing, um which you know it's not been my experience that we've done that before, but uh this is Texas, and so that could be it.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_07: But again, the the verdict here, uh guilty of murder.
• 1:17
  SPEAKER_07: Wow.
• 1:19
  SPEAKER_05: Sheesh.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_04: And this happened what in Texas, right?
• 1:23
  SPEAKER_04: Man, Carmelo Anthony.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_04: Give us a little uh breakdown way, a little overview for the people that don't know what's going on.
• 1:30
  SPEAKER_03: What's going on, y'all?
• 1:31
SPEAKER_03: A Texas jury convicted 19-year-old Carmelo Anthony of murder, fatally stabbing a 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at April 2025, uh, at a track meet in Frisco, Texas.
• 1:41
SPEAKER_03: Following a swift trial in Collin County, the jury sentenced Anthony 35 years to stay prison.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_03: Uh the incident, basically the conflict.
• 1:50
SPEAKER_03: During a district track meet, Anthony, uh, then 17, was sitting under the team tent of Memorial High School, a rival school, a witnessing testify that Anthony was repeatedly asked to leave, but he refused.
• 2:03
SPEAKER_03: And challenged Metcalf by saying, Touch me and see what happens.
• 2:07
SPEAKER_03: When Metcalf pushed Anthony to get him to move, Anthony pulled out a folding knife.
• 2:13
SPEAKER_03: You guys know what that is.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_03: It's like a compact knife with like different tools in it.
• 2:17
SPEAKER_03: Uh a folding knife, uh, stabbed Metcalf once in the heart, resulting in a fatal wound.
• 2:23
SPEAKER_03: Uh the two teenagers attended different local high schools and did not know each other prior to the altercation.
• 2:28
SPEAKER_03: Now that's my confusion because they knew that.
• 2:32
SPEAKER_04: They attended two different high schools and didn't know each other, is what it said.
• 2:34
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 2:35
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 2:36
  SPEAKER_05: Man.
• 2:37
  SPEAKER_05: And that's tough, man.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_04: And before we get to talking on here, man, everything we say is alleged, man.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_04: You know, because we weren't there.
• 2:44
  SPEAKER_04: We weren't physically there.
• 2:45
SPEAKER_04: So we just only go on based off what we done seen on social media.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_04: What's it that June what?
• 2:50
  SPEAKER_04: 10th.
• 2:51
  SPEAKER_04: When this happened?
• 2:52
  SPEAKER_04: This happened last year.
• 2:53
  SPEAKER_04: This happened last year?
• 2:54
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 2:55
  SPEAKER_04: In April.
• 2:55
  SPEAKER_05: In April.
• 2:56
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, wow.
• 2:57
SPEAKER_05: So this is a this is a now this is now.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_05: This is like a year from this is like a year from like kind of today.
• 3:02
SPEAKER_05: Like, you know what I'm saying?
• 3:02
SPEAKER_04: Like it's Oh, but the the the settlement, like the case settlement.
• 3:05
  SPEAKER_04: Cases happening now.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_04: But this happened last year.
• 3:07
SPEAKER_04: Last year and I don't even remember hearing about this last year.
• 3:09
  SPEAKER_04: Bro, me either.
• 3:10
SPEAKER_04: It'd be so much going on in the world.
• 3:12
SPEAKER_05: You know so many cases out there, they don't really bring the big light to him, you know, in the reason why times right now.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_04: The reason why I done got an uproar though is probably because of the amount of years he got.
• 3:19
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 3:20
SPEAKER_04: And the fact the fact that he got found guilty in general.
• 3:22
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 3:23
SPEAKER_04: But so a whole year don't went by and we ain't got no video footage?
• 3:26
  SPEAKER_04: There's no video footage?
• 3:27
  SPEAKER_04: Of what?
• 3:28
SPEAKER_04: Nah, not of what happened.
• 3:29
SPEAKER_05: Well, there is video footage of what happened because people were recording in the moment.
• 3:33
SPEAKER_05: But the courts right now.
• 3:34
SPEAKER_04: You're talking about like public, public, I guess.
• 3:36
SPEAKER_03: They played it, they played it during the trial.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_05: During the trial, that's it.
• 3:39
  SPEAKER_05: They haven't released anything.
• 3:40
SPEAKER_04: But they ain't letting the public see.
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_05: Not right now.
• 3:43
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's too great.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 3:44
SPEAKER_05: They're not letting the public see right now.
• 3:45
SPEAKER_05: So basically the the courts are um they're keeping everything in in the confines of the courtroom.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_05: So any any any video footage, um, anything like that, they they have they're not even allowing people to have the trials not being recorded.
• 3:57
SPEAKER_05: They're not even having cell phones in there.
• 3:59
  SPEAKER_05: So it's super confidential.
• 4:00
  SPEAKER_05: It's very confidential.
• 4:01
SPEAKER_05: And I believe, you know, and just like like Corey said earlier, everything is his.
• 4:05
SPEAKER_05: We don't, we, we're kind of just talking about, you know, our thoughts of things.
• 4:09
SPEAKER_05: But my my thought is that with them being so young, um, that's why they're kind of protecting the case.
• 4:16
  SPEAKER_04: I see what you're saying.
• 4:17
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, them being so young.
• 4:17
SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna be able to do it.
• 4:18
SPEAKER_04: I mean, so he got so they sentenced him to 35 years.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_04: And like I saw something about like 17, after 17 years, he can he can be eligible for parole.
• 4:27
SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna break it down.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_04: Y'all want me to break it down?
• 4:29
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, bro.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, break it down, bro.
• 4:31
SPEAKER_03: All right, so self-defense rejected it, right?
• 4:32
SPEAKER_03: So Anthony's defense admitted to the stabbing, but argued he only acted in self-defense, claiming he was intimidated by Metcalf and his teammates.
• 4:40
SPEAKER_03: Mind you, Metcalf was uh ranged at uh six foot one alongside his twin.
• 4:45
SPEAKER_03: Um, the prosecution successfully argued that Anthony was the aggressor and that he uh justifiably provoked the situation.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_03: Uh sudden passion rejected during the sentence uh phase.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_03: The defense attempted to argue the killing was committed under quote unquote sudden passion, which would have reduced the possible sentence to 20 years.
• 5:07
SPEAKER_03: The jury then rejected this argument.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_03: The sentencing, again, Anthony faced between five to ninety-nine years, and he got 35.
• 5:17
SPEAKER_05: Let's talk about that for a minute, Wake.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_05: Do you have the definition of uh sudden passion up?
• 5:23
SPEAKER_05: And you can read it to everybody.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_05: Because that's like, you know, sudden passion up.
• 5:27
SPEAKER_05: It's like an overwhelming feeling, like, you know what I'm saying, like uh uh uh when you're scared, you're tearing like a almost like an out-of-body experience.
• 5:33
SPEAKER_05: Out-of-body experience, huge adrenaline rush, like you acting out of fear, terror.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_05: This is the fence, the defense, his defense, his defense and fighting for him.
• 5:42
SPEAKER_05: They're saying that they're saying that with what was going on with him, they're saying that um he acted out of sudden passion.
• 5:49
SPEAKER_05: Um and and and and I in my own.
• 5:50
SPEAKER_04: I thought you said something about intimidated, but Yeah.
• 5:53
SPEAKER_05: And I thought about because like in it in times like the days, it's like when you think about sudden passion, it's like I don't know if he was already going through something beforehand.
• 6:03
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, because I don't know if he because they nobody's really dug into, you know, and me from for me just reading and getting what I got out of it.
• 6:10
SPEAKER_05: Nobody really dug into his life before that.
• 6:13
SPEAKER_05: Like, you know, was he bullied?
• 6:15
SPEAKER_05: Was he, you know, what he went through?
• 6:17
SPEAKER_05: Like, why did he feel the need to react in the way that he did?
• 6:20
  SPEAKER_05: Graphically.
• 6:21
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, to react in the way.
• 6:26
SPEAKER_03: Uh, the sudden passion defense in Texas allow a murder conviction to be reduced from a first degree to a second degree felony.
• 6:32
SPEAKER_03: If the killing occurred under the immediate and intense emotional state caused by the etiquette provoke provoktion.
• 6:39
SPEAKER_03: So, uh, under Texas law, uh, quote unquote sudden passion is defined as a passion directly caused by arising out of provokes provoking by the victim or someone acting with the victim, which occurs at the time of the offense and is not solely the result of prior uh provocation.
• 6:58
  SPEAKER_03: Amen.
• 6:58
SPEAKER_03: Texas pet penal code uh 19.02-2.
• 7:04
SPEAKER_03: Uh it's just basically saying that you know acting out of like Johnny said, emotions can definitely uh being provoked can uh less time.
• 7:15
SPEAKER_04: So they basically they basically trying to they whole side is I guess he allegedly saying I did what I did because I was in a situation that it was provoking.
• 7:26
SPEAKER_04: It was real provoking for me to do what I did.
• 7:28
SPEAKER_05: So his defense is arguing, they're saying that with the two guys up against him, because you know the story, the story is and you know, kind of way, way ready.
• 7:35
SPEAKER_05: But from what I got got from that was, you know, they said it was a storm going on, he ran into the tent.
• 7:41
SPEAKER_05: Um, the guys under there telling him to get out.
• 7:43
SPEAKER_05: Um, and then when they was telling him to get out, you know, of course.
• 7:46
SPEAKER_05: He but anybody, you know, yeah, you might you my peer, you're not my teacher.
• 7:49
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know what I mean.
• 7:50
SPEAKER_05: But you a student just like I am.
• 7:51
SPEAKER_04: He probably was, you know, he might have been on some who you talking to.
• 7:54
  SPEAKER_04: Right.
• 7:55
SPEAKER_04: And then that's and they said that's what really happened.
• 7:57
SPEAKER_04: It was like, when they tell him to get out, he said, make me.
• 7:59
SPEAKER_05: And that's what I uh a reporter that I had watched, a black reporter that I watched, he said that, you know, in the courtrooms, you know, that was some of the um some of the some of the students that was around, that's what they testified.
• 8:08
SPEAKER_05: You know, he was like, make me.
• 8:09
SPEAKER_05: So the guy got up.
• 8:10
SPEAKER_05: Um what's his what's his name, Wade?
• 8:12
  SPEAKER_04: The Metcalf.
• 8:13
  SPEAKER_04: Austin Metcalf.
• 8:14
  SPEAKER_05: Austin McCalf.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_05: And his twin brother or something like that.
• 8:16
SPEAKER_05: They said, and I'll I'm always used there because I want nobody thinking like I know these facts.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_05: They said that um McCaff pushed him.
• 8:24
SPEAKER_05: And they said on the video, you could see them push or whatever.
• 8:27
SPEAKER_05: Because they they got some video examiners to come in and kind of break everything down.
• 8:30
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 8:30
SPEAKER_05: They said on the video, when he pushed them, that's when he came back and and and stabbed them.
• 8:35
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 8:35
SPEAKER_05: And now they're saying that the knife, he had a he had a folded knife.
• 8:39
SPEAKER_05: They said that the same night that he used to stab him, he already uh they said he got suspended prior week before for having that night.
• 8:47
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 8:47
  SPEAKER_05: And I I like I said, I'm not in the courtroom.
• 8:49
SPEAKER_05: I don't know how true that is.
• 8:50
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 8:51
SPEAKER_04: But it's just like Well that that, I mean, that type of stuff right there, I mean, don't they don't hold much, much weight.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_04: It can it can it can just paint a negative picture.
• 8:58
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 8:59
SPEAKER_04: But as far as like proving anything, and they don't, you know, okay, he got suspended.
• 9:03
SPEAKER_04: It is what it is.
• 9:04
SPEAKER_04: But if that's the case, but I'm just like, bro.
• 9:07
SPEAKER_03: I have to add this.
• 9:08
SPEAKER_03: Carmelo Anthony was not suspended before the stabbing.
• 9:11
SPEAKER_03: He was attending Continental uh high school and participating in school athletics at the top.
• 9:16
  SPEAKER_05: Okay, good, good.
• 9:17
SPEAKER_05: So that's way just way just made a simple simple voice.
• 9:20
  SPEAKER_05: He looked it up.
• 9:21
SPEAKER_05: So he said he wasn't he wasn't suspended.
• 9:23
  SPEAKER_05: Right.
• 9:23
  SPEAKER_05: Um for that.
• 9:24
SPEAKER_05: I heard I heard a lot of like everybody's just talking, you know what I'm saying?
• 9:27
SPEAKER_05: Like everybody just has their because we're not there, we're not in the courtroom, so we don't really, really know.
• 9:31
SPEAKER_04: I heard a lot of stuff about the kids, the the the two white kids.
• 9:35
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 9:35
  SPEAKER_04: The Metcalf brothers.
• 9:36
SPEAKER_04: I heard a lot of stuff about their background.
• 9:38
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I heard somebody's.
• 9:39
SPEAKER_04: But I mean, it's like I I could see like trying to I basically what I'm saying is I heard some stuff that was trying to paint them to be like monsters.
• 9:50
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 9:51
SPEAKER_04: You don't know these people.
• 9:52
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but from what I hear, they they was people saying that they violent and apparently like they they beat on beat up their daddy, all kinds of stuff I heard, like their daddy was beating on their mama.
• 10:02
  SPEAKER_04: I heard all that.
• 10:03
SPEAKER_04: That's the type of stuff I heard about them, but it's like you bring that type of you bring that type of information to a case like this, and you gotta ask yourself, how much weight does they actually hold when it comes to the incident at hand?
• 10:14
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 10:15
SPEAKER_03: Because when you think of what and I must add, there is no public record or credible reporting indicating that Austin McCalf was in it from high school as well.
• 10:25
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 10:26
SPEAKER_05: So people are, you know, like I said, it's so much going on out there with what everybody he says she says stuff.
• 10:31
  SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of that.
• 10:31
SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of going on, so we're all taking clues from what we see.
• 10:34
  SPEAKER_05: Right.
• 10:34
SPEAKER_05: Because that's what we know.
• 10:35
SPEAKER_05: But my thought process when you break it down just as a general per as a general person, um if I if if if if if it's raining outside and I'm another team, and somebody's coming under my tent to just get under the tent, it speaks to a lot of, and I'm not, and let me let me say this.
• 10:55
SPEAKER_05: I'm not on anybody's side because um, you know, I feel bad for both both parents.
• 11:01
SPEAKER_05: Because, you know, one can never get their child back, and one one child, one child, one parent child is facing murder, which which no parent wants to see.
• 11:09
  SPEAKER_05: So they're they're both they're both losing something.
• 11:12
SPEAKER_05: But my thought process is a good person, like you know, you hear you hear things about the the Metcalf boys, but why would you make them get out if it's raining?
• 11:22
SPEAKER_05: Like if if somebody's just trying to get away from the wet rain, like what was really going on for y'all to say, hey, you need to get out of my tent.
• 11:29
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 11:30
SPEAKER_05: Was it the fact that he was just a rival?
• 11:32
  SPEAKER_05: Right.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_05: Or like you know what I'm saying?
• 11:33
SPEAKER_04: What was the whole point of you telling him to leave the tent?
• 11:36
SPEAKER_05: And I think about that because That's a good question.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_04: Why did they even tell him to leave to begin with?
• 11:41
  SPEAKER_04: It's a very good thing.
• 11:42
SPEAKER_04: They say he was opposing high school, right?
• 11:44
SPEAKER_04: So they uh they might have been rivals or it might have been just you know how you know how they didn't know him.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_04: Know how high school people get, though.
• 11:50
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 11:51
SPEAKER_04: Like, we all been in high school before.
• 11:52
SPEAKER_04: We see people try to bully people, we see people try to gang up on people, we see people try to act like they the teacher or try to tell somebody what they're gonna do.
• 12:00
SPEAKER_04: You know, this could have could very well been like one of those situations.
• 12:03
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 12:04
SPEAKER_04: And like you said, it's raining outside.
• 12:07
SPEAKER_04: I don't know why the boy got a knife at the end.
• 12:09
SPEAKER_04: I want to know anyway.
• 12:10
SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to figure out like why he why did he bring the knife in general?
• 12:13
  SPEAKER_05: Why'd he bring a knife?
• 12:14
  SPEAKER_05: It's a it's so many questions.
• 12:16
SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of questions like why did he why did he bring a knife and also you know, bro, you play sports.
• 12:22
SPEAKER_05: You know, I don't play sports, so you know nothing about that.
• 12:26
SPEAKER_05: How many times have you been playing sports and it just get heated?
• 12:29
SPEAKER_05: Rivals do now we don't know what was going on before that.
• 12:33
SPEAKER_05: Did the boy say something to him?
• 12:34
SPEAKER_05: Was there beef on the field?
• 12:35
SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, but for this for this story to pick up, he came up under the tent and the boy said to believe, it seemed like we're missing something.
• 12:43
  SPEAKER_04: We missing something.
• 12:43
SPEAKER_04: It seemed like it's it's it's something that information that's not been taught, been being told, yeah, or some prior history that we might not know.
• 12:50
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it might have been some prior animosity, it might have been something that happened out there on the track meet.
• 12:54
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 12:55
SPEAKER_04: We don't know what possibly could have happened for them to say, but it's we we ain't gonna never never know the full truth.
• 13:00
SPEAKER_04: But for it to be 2026, and they got these cell phones out here, people see what's going on.
• 13:05
SPEAKER_04: So my question now is from the Carmelo Anthony side of the case, it sounded like to me, he never really tried to make it seem like his life was physically threatened.
• 13:18
SPEAKER_04: You see what I'm saying?
• 13:19
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because like I didn't hear, I didn't hear, I didn't hear a physical threat from him.
• 13:22
  SPEAKER_04: Like I didn't hear a frizz a physical threat case.
• 13:25
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 13:27
SPEAKER_04: To me, it sounded like it was like an emotional case.
• 13:29
  SPEAKER_04: It's emotional.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_04: Like like it was it was more so on some they try to low boy me.
• 13:34
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 13:34
SPEAKER_04: That's the type of vibe I'm getting from what's what happened.
• 13:36
SPEAKER_05: Because what I one thing, like one thing, um, that I that I was one thing that one reporter that I was watching, and this is the reporter that I'm watching, he's actually in the case.
• 13:45
SPEAKER_05: He mentioned that when after he stabbed him, he dropped the knife.
• 13:48
SPEAKER_05: Um he said on the on the video you can see one guy pushing.
• 13:52
SPEAKER_05: Uh he used McCal push him, and then he comes back and stabs him in the chest, drops the knife, and he runs into the arms of his coach.
• 13:58
SPEAKER_05: He said, and the coach testified, you know, did you, did you, did you stab this, did you stab him?
• 14:03
SPEAKER_05: They're saying you stabbed him.
• 14:04
SPEAKER_05: He said, He put his hand, he hit me first.
• 14:07
SPEAKER_05: He put his hands on me first.
• 14:09
SPEAKER_05: So it's like, and his coach, his coach was like, Um, you know, if you if this boy don't make it, your life changed today, right?
• 14:16
SPEAKER_05: And he said, but he is gonna make it.
• 14:18
SPEAKER_05: And the coach was like, What did you don't?
• 14:19
SPEAKER_05: And then they said, Um, he started crying.
• 14:22
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I heard some reports that when the police came, he was he was real, like cooperative.
• 14:27
  SPEAKER_04: He was cooperative, yeah.
• 14:27
SPEAKER_04: They said they said he didn't deny it.
• 14:29
SPEAKER_04: He didn't deny it, he didn't deny it.
• 14:31
  SPEAKER_04: He was cooperative.
• 14:32
SPEAKER_04: But how many times, and again, it's all alleged.
• 14:35
  SPEAKER_04: All alleged.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_04: This is exactly their case, because we weren't there.
• 14:38
  SPEAKER_04: We don't know.
• 14:40
SPEAKER_04: How many times have we acted out of anger?
• 14:44
  SPEAKER_04: Acted out of emotion.
• 14:46
  SPEAKER_04: Plenty of times.
• 14:46
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 14:47
SPEAKER_04: And unfortunately, it's sometimes people do things out of emotion that they can't take back.
• 14:53
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 14:54
SPEAKER_03: And they and they uh go ahead, Corey.
• 14:56
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 14:56
  SPEAKER_03: Um go ahead.
• 14:57
SPEAKER_03: It had me thinking about, you know, the Bible too, when uh Judas uh betrayed Jesus, right?
• 15:02
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 15:03
SPEAKER_03: Uh Judas was like, he was like, God, I'll I'll never forsake you.
• 15:07
SPEAKER_03: What he's uh forsaken with, what he trade him with.
• 15:09
SPEAKER_03: And he starts feeling that guilt.
• 15:11
  SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
• 15:11
SPEAKER_03: So it had to be.
• 15:13
SPEAKER_04: Did Judas say that or was that uh Peter?
• 15:15
SPEAKER_03: No, Judas uh uh for I think it was so silver.
• 15:18
  SPEAKER_03: Silver?
• 15:19
  SPEAKER_03: Silver.
• 15:20
SPEAKER_04: I was talking about uh I was talking about the saying he he'll never forsake him part.
• 15:23
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, so yeah.
• 15:24
SPEAKER_04: That might be in there though.
• 15:25
SPEAKER_04: He might know a little so.
• 15:29
SPEAKER_03: Let's see, here I can Judas um he felt that guilt, man, and that's what a lot of people do when we act out of emotion headed down the line, we're gonna we feel like, man, the devil just used me.
• 15:39
  SPEAKER_03: We feel worthless.
• 15:40
SPEAKER_03: And now I bet that's kind of like how he feels right now.
• 15:43
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
• 15:43
SPEAKER_03: You feel like, you know, with the emotions, man.
• 15:45
SPEAKER_03: And you have right, yeah.
• 15:46
SPEAKER_03: The Bible said uh then entered Satan into Judas.
• 15:50
SPEAKER_03: He started feeling like that.
• 15:51
SPEAKER_03: That guilt, all of that.
• 15:52
SPEAKER_04: And think about you being 16, 17, 18 years old around your peers, these dudes, these dudes trying to little boy you, telling you to get out, and all type of stuff like that.
• 16:02
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 16:03
SPEAKER_04: A lot of times we we done seen fights happen all the time.
• 16:05
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_04: A lot of it just it comes from because I don't want you to make, I don't want you to think you just made me look like I'm a little girl.
• 16:14
SPEAKER_04: Yeah you know what I'm saying?
• 16:15
SPEAKER_04: So now I gotta prove a point.
• 16:16
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 16:17
SPEAKER_04: And and sometimes proving the point, you know, it don't be worth it.
• 16:20
  SPEAKER_04: And I think it's I think it I think I'm like.
• 16:29
SPEAKER_04: I know y'all seeing it, I've seen the uproar on Instagram, social media, everywhere.
• 16:33
SPEAKER_04: Black folk is going ham about the situation, and I'm only going based off what I'm hearing about the situation now.
• 16:40
SPEAKER_04: If the boy, my opinion, if the boy, if Carmelo Anthony was getting choked out, and it's like, and it was a different, and if it was like a different type of physical, something physical going on, absolutely this is injustice at it at its finest.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
• 16:57
SPEAKER_04: Like the same on story we done seen before.
• 16:59
SPEAKER_04: But if it's just what it, if if it's just a big thing.
• 17:01
SPEAKER_05: If it's what they say, what they're saying, somebody pushed him and he stabbed him.
• 17:04
SPEAKER_04: He immediately stabbed him after being pushed outside in the tent that you walked up under and have the ability to walk away from.
• 17:10
SPEAKER_05: Bro, my mom, my mom won't get a gun.
• 17:12
  SPEAKER_05: That's hard, bro.
• 17:13
SPEAKER_05: My mom said the boy deserved 34 years, 35 years, but my mom will not get a gun to this day because she said that she knows how she can get.
• 17:22
SPEAKER_05: She said that I know if I get, you know what I'm saying?
• 17:24
SPEAKER_05: I know somebody made me pop off.
• 17:26
SPEAKER_05: I might, you know what I'm saying?
• 17:27
  SPEAKER_05: I might make a split decision.
• 17:29
SPEAKER_05: Because, you know, we don't been through so much.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_05: My mama said in her life in our in our lives, I ain't gonna, you know, I ain't gonna, we don't, we go through so much.
• 17:35
SPEAKER_05: We got so much built up in us that we don't even know sometimes something trigger us.
• 17:38
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 17:39
SPEAKER_05: And we might just pop off.
• 17:40
SPEAKER_04: See if it's something else about a case we might not know, way, so we can make sure we try to get away.
• 17:44
SPEAKER_04: And I need to go say angles.
• 17:46
SPEAKER_05: A lot of people was like, you know, Wilde kind of trap to trap me with a knife.
• 17:52
SPEAKER_05: Knives, you know what I'm saying?
• 17:53
SPEAKER_05: If he's never had a record, anything like that, I mean he could have had a knife too.
• 17:57
SPEAKER_05: It was a folding knife, it could have been a camping knife, it could have been something.
• 18:00
  SPEAKER_05: Pocket knife anything.
• 18:01
  SPEAKER_05: Pocket knife.
• 18:01
SPEAKER_05: It was a pocket, I think it was a pocket knife.
• 18:03
SPEAKER_05: But um, for him to it could have been any kind of knife he had with him for whatever reason.
• 18:07
SPEAKER_05: But at the end of the day, I'm just like, if it's if it is what he said it is, if people just saying that, hey, this guy pushed me and I stabbed him, it comes down to like why?
• 18:19
  SPEAKER_05: Why bro?
• 18:19
SPEAKER_05: You didn't you didn't have to do that.
• 18:21
  SPEAKER_05: Why?
• 18:21
SPEAKER_04: This goes to the do it.
• 18:23
SPEAKER_04: I mean, but a lot of times you you can't even answer that question because you don't act that emotion.
• 18:30
  SPEAKER_04: Roll raids.
• 18:31
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 18:31
SPEAKER_04: They have to be a roll race, isn't it?
• 18:32
SPEAKER_04: Roll raids the same thing.
• 18:33
SPEAKER_04: Think about when you see somebody or like or you or somebody bump you or do something dismiss you or cut you in line.
• 18:38
SPEAKER_04: How many how quick we be?
• 18:42
SPEAKER_04: Like people act that people act that rapidly off their emotion, though.
• 18:46
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 18:47
SPEAKER_04: So it ain't nothing to unintentionally kill somebody.
• 18:52
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 18:52
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 18:53
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if he was already a previous hot head.
• 18:55
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if he had a quick temper.
• 18:57
SPEAKER_04: I don't know nothing about the boy.
• 18:58
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, me.
• 18:59
SPEAKER_04: But all I know is based on what we'd unheard and unseen, it seems like to me that this could have been preventable.
• 19:08
  SPEAKER_02: Just based on it.
• 19:09
  SPEAKER_04: And I and I wasn't there, I didn't see what was going on.
• 19:12
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if the boys was running up on him and he just reacted like that.
• 19:16
SPEAKER_04: But from if they got a video, if this and I don't get me wrong, I know America is America is crooked.
• 19:23
  SPEAKER_04: I know this.
• 19:23
SPEAKER_04: I know this to be true.
• 19:24
SPEAKER_04: We all know this shit.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_04: And we know that we know there's there is something there.
• 19:27
SPEAKER_04: But if there is a video, and the video is showing one boy being pushed, and then the boy being pushed coming back with a knife to stab someone, I see why they found him guilty.
• 19:43
  SPEAKER_04: I can see that.
• 19:46
  SPEAKER_04: Do I think it's right?
• 19:50
SPEAKER_04: But what I do realize is we live in America, bro.
• 19:53
  SPEAKER_04: This is Texas.
• 19:55
SPEAKER_04: This is South, this is the South East.
• 19:56
SPEAKER_04: They're gonna go off of the.
• 20:07
SPEAKER_05: Because they're not gonna give in America, they're not gonna give you that much grace.
• 20:11
SPEAKER_05: It's like they don't care if you was a good person before.
• 20:14
SPEAKER_05: Halftime they don't care if you had a good record.
• 20:16
SPEAKER_05: They don't care if you they don't care if you've been out there feeding the community and feeding the homeless.
• 20:22
SPEAKER_04: Bro, from killing people that was good people, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_04: And they didn't find no dirt on these people, but they they did everything in their power to not put this police officer in jail.
• 20:31
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 20:31
  SPEAKER_04: It don't matter, bro.
• 20:32
  SPEAKER_04: We know that's a good idea.
• 20:33
SPEAKER_05: A lot of times we do understand, and we're telling y'all that too.
• 20:35
SPEAKER_05: Like we understand it's not like we're sitting here trying to say that there is no injustice in America.
• 20:39
  SPEAKER_05: There's plenty of it.
• 20:40
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 20:41
SPEAKER_05: It's been they've been America been doing wrong for a long, long, long time.
• 20:44
SPEAKER_05: But all we can do is go off of the facts of this case.
• 20:47
SPEAKER_05: And most of the case, most of the facts that we've been hearing are all leading to a simple US you push me, so I stabbed you.
• 20:55
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's what it's looking like.
• 20:56
SPEAKER_05: That's what it looks like.
• 20:57
SPEAKER_05: What what what is his parents saying?
• 20:59
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we don't know.
• 20:59
SPEAKER_04: You got scripture pulled up.
• 21:01
SPEAKER_03: I wanted to add, um, you know, the Bible talks about leaning not to your own understanding, but acknowledging all your ways.
• 21:08
SPEAKER_03: Which means like in these type of times when you feel like somebody's quote unquote intimidating you, you need to learn how to in the spiritual, you need how to train your mind.
• 21:16
  SPEAKER_03: Because this goes back.
• 21:18
SPEAKER_03: Proven that God is real.
• 21:20
SPEAKER_03: You going back, God always talks about, you know, how we need to watch how what we watch what we think.
• 21:24
SPEAKER_03: Our mind is not our mind, our mind is his.
• 21:27
SPEAKER_03: Once we start thinking negative, we start reacting out of a way that's with our flesh, the result you get.
• 21:33
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you could have easily just walked away.
• 21:35
SPEAKER_03: You could have easily went and told your coach, you ran to your coach when you kill him, you could have easily ran to your coach when we had a thought.
• 21:41
  SPEAKER_05: That's a good point.
• 21:42
SPEAKER_05: I get that because if if the if the guys told him leave and you say, Mate me.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_05: Knowing that it ain't this ain't your tent, this ain't your area.
• 21:49
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 21:50
SPEAKER_05: Say, why not just walk away?
• 21:51
SPEAKER_05: Because we have to learn to be the bigger person in situations because it's okay.
• 21:57
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to be a bigger person.
• 21:58
SPEAKER_04: It's okay to look like you took an L, bro.
• 21:59
  SPEAKER_05: It's okay like you took a.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to look like you did.
• 22:02
SPEAKER_04: Now we just speaking from a futuristic standpoint and let's look at this situation.
• 22:05
SPEAKER_04: Black men, how can we learn from a situation like this?
• 22:08
SPEAKER_05: If I knew then what I knew now.
• 22:10
SPEAKER_04: How can we learn from a situation like this?
• 22:13
SPEAKER_04: Do we the Bible also say pride comes before the fall?
• 22:16
  SPEAKER_04: The fall.
• 22:17
SPEAKER_04: So what does that mean?
• 22:18
SPEAKER_04: That means your pridefulness is evident, it's there.
• 22:22
SPEAKER_04: We physically can see it, sense it, and then the fall comes right after that.
• 22:27
  SPEAKER_04: Why?
• 22:28
SPEAKER_04: Because we act out of that pride.
• 22:30
SPEAKER_04: We too prideful to turn around because these two white boys and told us to turn around.
• 22:33
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 22:34
SPEAKER_04: We too proudful to turn around because now we're embarrassed in front of our peers.
• 22:37
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 22:37
SPEAKER_04: And I'm not saying this is how he felt.
• 22:39
SPEAKER_04: I'm saying look at this situation and just try to apply it to now.
• 22:43
SPEAKER_04: And a lot of people apply it to a future, a future situation you might find yourself in.
• 22:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yep.
• 22:47
SPEAKER_05: And that pride, that pride is dangerous, bro.
• 22:49
SPEAKER_05: Because how many people that we don't seen that they get in trouble or something like that, even with the law because the law meant the opposite.
• 22:55
SPEAKER_05: Now don't get me wrong.
• 22:55
SPEAKER_05: There, and I'm gonna say this.
• 22:56
SPEAKER_05: There are some crooked cops out here.
• 22:58
  SPEAKER_05: We know.
• 22:58
  SPEAKER_05: Oh man.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_05: But how many times have people got it people got in trouble because they just wouldn't they wouldn't comply with the law?
• 23:05
SPEAKER_05: You know, I added your ID.
• 23:06
SPEAKER_05: What do you mean by what you my I ain't remember when that was my ID for?
• 23:09
SPEAKER_05: Now they're breaking your window because you just didn't say, here you go.
• 23:12
SPEAKER_05: Because even though you ain't did nothing, ain't in the proof.
• 23:15
SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna say, let the Lord fight your battles.
• 23:17
SPEAKER_05: But I feel like I feel like, man, I I hurt for him, I hurt for the other guy.
• 23:24
SPEAKER_05: I hurt for both of them because it's like, man, y'all could y'all both in this situation could have let your pride down and been like, you know what?
• 23:32
  SPEAKER_05: Super preventable.
• 23:33
  SPEAKER_05: Ain't even worth it.
• 23:34
  SPEAKER_05: Super preventable.
• 23:35
SPEAKER_05: If we're talking about, and like I said, we're talking about from what we read and what we've seen.
• 23:40
  SPEAKER_05: We don't know.
• 23:41
SPEAKER_05: We ain't been in the cake, in the case.
• 23:43
SPEAKER_05: But from our understanding of the case, this could have been preventable, man.
• 23:47
SPEAKER_05: If those two boys would have been like, you know what, I got a lot to lose.
• 23:50
SPEAKER_05: Both of them seem to be successful in track.
• 23:52
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 23:53
  SPEAKER_05: They doing their thing.
• 23:54
SPEAKER_04: Or if or if or if Carmelo would have just simply just walked away.
• 23:57
SPEAKER_05: Yep, Carmelo could have walked away.
• 23:59
SPEAKER_05: He could have walked away.
• 23:59
SPEAKER_04: I want y'all to think about that, man.
• 24:01
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 24:01
SPEAKER_04: Because it's a misconception in the black community.
• 24:06
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 24:07
  SPEAKER_04: It's a misinterpretation.
• 24:09
  SPEAKER_04: It's a mis it's misguided information out here.
• 24:12
SPEAKER_04: That makes us feel like we have to retaliate.
• 24:16
  SPEAKER_04: And if we don't retaliate, we P U S S Y.
• 24:20
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, we solve.
• 24:21
  SPEAKER_04: We some hoes.
• 24:21
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 24:22
  SPEAKER_04: We some pumps.
• 24:22
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 24:23
  SPEAKER_04: Like that's.
• 24:24
SPEAKER_04: You should have did this.
• 24:24
SPEAKER_04: You should have done that.
• 24:25
SPEAKER_04: That's the that's the that's the running theme that's in our community.
• 24:29
SPEAKER_04: And I'm able to say that I'm black and I've been in the situations like that.
• 24:33
SPEAKER_04: Where, you know, somebody might have put their hands on me, but instead of me putting my hands on them, I walk away from the situation.
• 24:40
SPEAKER_04: You gonna be laughed at.
• 24:43
SPEAKER_04: But is it is is is not being laughed at and made to seem like a real nigga, is it worth your freedom?
• 24:49
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
• 24:51
SPEAKER_04: And then what you gotta think about is it worth is it worth your freedom?
• 24:55
  SPEAKER_05: Bro, is it not?
• 24:56
SPEAKER_05: Because at the end of the day, bro, I when I when I think about situations, I used to be like that.
• 25:00
SPEAKER_05: I used to, and people don't believe it, man, but I used to be a hothead.
• 25:03
SPEAKER_05: And you can ask people that know me from Greenwood, like my attitude was bad, my mouth was bad.
• 25:07
SPEAKER_05: I wanted to fight instantly.
• 25:08
SPEAKER_05: That because that's what I knew, that's what I grew up around.
• 25:10
  SPEAKER_05: My family fight.
• 25:11
SPEAKER_05: My family do a lot.
• 25:13
SPEAKER_05: And so I used to have to tell myself that when as I got older, I got so much that I'm working for, so much that I'm fighting for, so much that I'm I'm living for that I can't allow a split-second decision to make me, you know what I'm saying, add up.
• 25:26
SPEAKER_05: And I and I get that these guys are young, and they say the brain don't even fully develop till you're 25 or something like that.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_05: I don't know the I don't know the real statistics on that, but it's that the brain don't develop until you get so old or so I know he's gonna think differently being a 17-year-old guy.
• 25:42
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, than he thinks now.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 25:44
SPEAKER_05: But I just really, man, and then you know, it is it is what it is now, man.
• 25:48
SPEAKER_05: But I feel like, man, if we can teach our young men to really because we we grow up thinking we gotta be so hard and tough.
• 25:55
  SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying, man.
• 25:56
  SPEAKER_05: You're a p.
• 25:57
SPEAKER_05: I mean, I heard that all my life.
• 25:58
SPEAKER_05: You a punk, you a punk, stand like a little girl, stand like a little sissi.
• 26:02
SPEAKER_05: And then I then I met some real men that said, you know what, it's okay to cry.
• 26:06
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to be the bigger person.
• 26:07
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to, it's okay to show love.
• 26:09
  SPEAKER_05: Bro.
• 26:09
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to embrace somebody, embrace your brother.
• 26:11
SPEAKER_05: It's okay to tell him, yo, you know what, you got it.
• 26:13
SPEAKER_05: Because I understand that I had more power in my walk away.
• 26:17
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 26:17
  SPEAKER_04: Yes, sir.
• 26:18
  SPEAKER_04: And bro.
• 26:18
  SPEAKER_04: Come on, somebody.
• 26:19
SPEAKER_04: It's more power in the local way than just staying in time.
• 26:22
  SPEAKER_05: Power in my silence.
• 26:22
  SPEAKER_05: I ain't gotta say nothing.
• 26:25
  SPEAKER_04: Bro, I ain't gotta say nothing.
• 26:26
  SPEAKER_05: I ain't gotta make it say I'm bigger.
• 26:27
SPEAKER_04: If we if we at a pool party or a house party or whatever the case may be, I push you.
• 26:33
SPEAKER_04: You fall to the ground.
• 26:34
SPEAKER_04: Everybody laughing, uh, clowning you girls in there, everything.
• 26:38
  SPEAKER_04: And I and I grab a I grab a switch and switch.
• 26:41
SPEAKER_04: No, no, I'm saying, you got two options.
• 26:43
SPEAKER_04: You can either walk away or you can retaliate right in that moment.
• 26:47
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 26:48
SPEAKER_04: Think about the retaliation aspect, you don't know what's coming after that.
• 26:52
  SPEAKER_04: Yep.
• 26:53
SPEAKER_04: Like people say it all the time.
• 26:55
SPEAKER_04: Oh, body, body, body, body yins ain't fighting with their hands no more.
• 26:59
SPEAKER_04: Folks ain't fighting no more, bro.
• 27:01
SPEAKER_04: How many lives have been lost?
• 27:02
  SPEAKER_04: You getting killed.
• 27:03
SPEAKER_04: Lives have been innocent lives.
• 27:04
  SPEAKER_04: Innocent lives.
• 27:05
SPEAKER_04: And then ain't even had nothing to do with it getting killed, all because y'all not able to squash what y'all got going on in the moment.
• 27:12
  SPEAKER_04: In the moment.
• 27:13
  SPEAKER_04: It's gotta be, it's I I gotta prove to you.
• 27:15
SPEAKER_04: If if you push me, if I push you, I gotta, I gotta show you that.
• 27:19
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
• 27:20
SPEAKER_04: Oh, you what you think this is?
• 27:22
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 27:23
SPEAKER_04: That's the mentality I want us to start to kill as black people.
• 27:26
  SPEAKER_04: Yes, sir.
• 27:26
SPEAKER_04: I want us to start to be able to, when we are being, when we when when wrong has been done to us, I want us to start start to learn how to walk away immediately from the wrong.
• 27:37
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 27:37
SPEAKER_04: Because it's it's worth living another day.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 27:40
SPEAKER_04: It's worth being able to see your mama when you wake up, or see your kids, or see your wife, or see your husband.
• 27:46
SPEAKER_04: It's not worth beating them up.
• 27:48
SPEAKER_04: It's not worth shooting them, it's not worth stabbing them.
• 27:51
SPEAKER_04: It's not worth doing anything that can take away your freedom from you because, like the coach said, but your life is finna change forever.
• 27:58
  SPEAKER_04: Yep, change forever.
• 27:59
SPEAKER_04: The whole dynamic of everybody's life around you is finna change forever.
• 28:03
SPEAKER_04: And then when you sit down and you and you finally alone and you analyze the situation and the thoughts going in your head, bro, I know you're sitting here telling yourself, it won't work.
• 28:13
SPEAKER_05: Brooke, we hear it out of time.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_05: Like, what we do affects the people that are close to us.
• 28:18
  SPEAKER_05: Facts.
• 28:19
SPEAKER_05: What we do affect our families.
• 28:20
SPEAKER_05: What we do affect our moms, dads, our children.
• 28:23
SPEAKER_05: And so it's like, man, I I my prayer for him in the future when he comes out is it's like, man, you know, and I'm sure he'll, you know, as he grows a young man, I'm sure my prayer for him, man, is to understand, like, that I don't have to, I don't have to be how I was.
• 28:39
SPEAKER_05: And don't get me wrong, I know those guys was coming at him, and they I and the videos that they pushed him, I don't know if more happened.
• 28:45
SPEAKER_05: We ain't really seen it for our own eyes.
• 28:48
  SPEAKER_05: Right.
• 28:48
SPEAKER_05: But I my prayer for him, man, is that, you know, if you, you know, he goes one of the situations if I knew then what I knew now, I respond.
• 28:55
SPEAKER_05: I would choose the way I respond differently because I know that my response can be more powerful if I just let it go.
• 29:00
  SPEAKER_05: Right.
• 29:00
SPEAKER_05: And I'm not saying the other guy was, because if they're telling him to get out of the tent, I don't even know.
• 29:05
SPEAKER_05: Because they I understand for black people, but I want all people to stop the drama, bro.
• 29:11
  SPEAKER_04: Stop the drama, period.
• 29:11
SPEAKER_05: He didn't have to respond how he did, but they didn't have to tell him to get out either for no reason.
• 29:15
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 29:16
SPEAKER_04: Like if like if he gets out, because it wasn't being the initial aggressor, initial aggressor.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_04: Needs to stop as well.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_04: If you are if you are pushing people, if you be the aggressive person, you need to learn how to stop being so aggressive.
• 29:25
  SPEAKER_04: Stop pushing people.
• 29:26
SPEAKER_04: You gotta learn how to just leave people alone.
• 29:28
SPEAKER_05: Because I think in a way like this, bro, and I understand, do I think it couldn't, it shouldn't have been that way hanging stay out 100%.
• 29:35
SPEAKER_05: I feel like it could have been easier than that.
• 29:37
SPEAKER_05: But I also think I also tell people to, you know, leave people alone because you never know what they've been going through.
• 29:43
SPEAKER_04: You never know what they're gonna be going to do.
• 29:44
SPEAKER_05: We don't know what Carmelo was going through that day, that week, where he's going through mentally with his mind wars, if he had mental health issues.
• 29:52
SPEAKER_05: We don't know any of that.
• 29:53
SPEAKER_05: Because we don't know that we don't know the young man.
• 29:55
SPEAKER_05: Just like my life, everybody don't know what I probably go through, what you probably go through, what Wade privately goes through.
• 30:00
SPEAKER_05: Nobody knows that the struggles and stuff like that.
• 30:02
SPEAKER_05: So it's like don't pro prov don't be out here provoking people because it could end your life.
• 30:07
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 30:07
SPEAKER_05: Just like people, just like people in roll raise incidents, they're provoking people.
• 30:10
SPEAKER_04: Don't ever think ever think something can't happen to you.
• 30:13
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, don't ever think something can't happen to you.
• 30:15
SPEAKER_04: That's just happening to me all the time.
• 30:16
SPEAKER_04: It's a lot of different stories within this story that I feel like we need to pick and choose from.
• 30:21
SPEAKER_04: And like, you know, whether or not you agree with the sentencing or don't agree with the sentencing.
• 30:25
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 30:26
SPEAKER_04: Look at the life lessons that's all throughout this story, bro.
• 30:29
SPEAKER_04: It's life lessons all throughout this story.
• 30:31
SPEAKER_04: All throughout the story, and different in different avenues on both sides of the case, like you said.
• 30:35
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 30:35
  SPEAKER_04: The aggressors, the aggressors.
• 30:37
SPEAKER_04: You putting your hands on somebody first.
• 30:39
SPEAKER_04: Stop feeling like you can just put your hands on people.
• 30:41
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 30:42
SPEAKER_04: Stop feeling like it's just it's okay for you just to push somebody.
• 30:44
SPEAKER_04: He shouldn't have pushed that button because you feel like you're big and bad.
• 30:47
SPEAKER_05: He shouldn't have pushed that button for no reason.
• 30:49
SPEAKER_05: Plus, that boy ain't touch him.
• 30:50
  SPEAKER_05: You know, you can't.
• 30:51
  SPEAKER_05: He didn't touch you.
• 30:51
SPEAKER_04: They say you they say you touched him first.
• 30:53
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 30:54
SPEAKER_05: If you would have never touched me, y'all would have never done what I did.
• 30:57
  SPEAKER_05: Am I right?
• 30:58
SPEAKER_05: And I feel like that's what he said because honestly, bro, that's what we taught.
• 31:01
SPEAKER_05: Like my mama taught me somebody hit them.
• 31:03
SPEAKER_05: People better hit him back.
• 31:04
SPEAKER_04: Bro, but that's how we grow up.
• 31:06
  SPEAKER_04: That's how we're up learning.
• 31:07
SPEAKER_04: We grow up learning, and I'm not against self-defense.
• 31:09
  SPEAKER_04: Don't get me wrong.
• 31:09
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm not against self-defense.
• 31:10
SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying if somebody pushes you, uh always run away.
• 31:15
SPEAKER_04: You gotta you gotta analyze the situation.
• 31:17
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, analyze the situation.
• 31:18
SPEAKER_04: If you get pushed and then you get surrounded, you gotta just defend yourself.
• 31:22
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_04: But if you one-on-one and somebody pushes you, you don't see no weapon on them, they're not, they're not, they're not, they're not running at you.
• 31:28
  SPEAKER_04: They just push you.
• 31:30
SPEAKER_04: And you may fall hard or something like that.
• 31:32
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 31:33
SPEAKER_04: If you have the ability to walk away, walk away.
• 31:36
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 31:36
SPEAKER_04: It's worth being able to be able to wake up and brush your teeth the next day.
• 31:40
SPEAKER_04: It's worth being able to wake up and put your clothes on and go to school or go to work the next day.
• 31:44
SPEAKER_04: Yeah it's not worth waking up your next day in handcuffs.
• 31:48
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 31:48
SPEAKER_04: Or you in a jumpsuit now.
• 31:50
SPEAKER_04: All because this dude pushed me.
• 31:52
SPEAKER_04: I we make it seem like I had no choice but to push him back.
• 31:56
  SPEAKER_04: No.
• 31:56
  SPEAKER_04: You had a choice.
• 31:58
SPEAKER_04: You just didn't listen to that that that that voice in your head, the Holy Spirit, in that moment, you suppressed it down so low that even though you knew you weren't supposed to do what you did, you still did it anyway.
• 32:08
  SPEAKER_04: Still did it.
• 32:09
SPEAKER_03: So let me ask you a question.
• 32:11
  SPEAKER_05: Go ahead, Way.
• 32:11
  SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry.
• 32:14
SPEAKER_03: I'm going for the Bible.
• 32:15
SPEAKER_03: What's the difference between him and Awesome McCalm?
• 32:19
SPEAKER_03: Uh I know it's probably gonna be David and Goliath.
• 32:27
  SPEAKER_05: Tell us.
• 32:30
  SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
• 32:33
SPEAKER_04: What's the difference between David and Goliath versus well I mean David was appointed by God to carry, you know, to carry out a mission.
• 32:45
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 32:47
SPEAKER_04: He was specifically appointed by God to carry out a mission, to step up to the plate and take out this giant that everybody else was in fear of.
• 32:57
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 32:57
SPEAKER_05: And he chose to do that.
• 32:58
SPEAKER_04: But he was in it, but it was David, David had a purpose.
• 33:02
SPEAKER_04: Like that was his life, that was part of his purpose in life.
• 33:04
SPEAKER_04: He had to go do that.
• 33:06
  SPEAKER_04: He did.
• 33:07
SPEAKER_04: But it was but it was but it was per purposed and destined for that to happen.
• 33:11
SPEAKER_04: That was supposed to happen.
• 33:13
SPEAKER_04: I'm not the difference is this could have been prevented.
• 33:16
SPEAKER_04: David had to go to the house.
• 33:17
  SPEAKER_04: So were you going?
• 33:17
SPEAKER_05: Where were you going with it?
• 33:19
SPEAKER_05: No, I was just asking.
• 33:20
SPEAKER_04: You just trying to figure out what a difference was?
• 33:21
SPEAKER_04: Because you said because you was looking at them as both his murderers.
• 33:24
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because I was uh So you're like he'll be like, I'm looking at the size difference.
• 33:28
SPEAKER_03: Looking at the size difference.
• 33:29
SPEAKER_03: Because Austin was six foot and Carmelo was like five, seven.
• 33:32
SPEAKER_03: Is this a little size difference?
• 33:34
  SPEAKER_03: Like he was intimidated.
• 33:35
SPEAKER_03: David wasn't quite was David intimidated a little bit?
• 33:38
SPEAKER_03: Yes, David was very intimidated.
• 33:40
SPEAKER_03: So it's it's similar stories but different.
• 33:47
  SPEAKER_03: David was human.
• 33:52
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but um Was David intimidated?
• 33:56
SPEAKER_04: Or was he confident about David?
• 33:57
SPEAKER_05: He's very he steaded up to the plate.
• 33:58
SPEAKER_04: So he didn't have an answer out at all.
• 34:00
SPEAKER_05: No, he stepped up to the plate.
• 34:02
SPEAKER_04: So David did not have an answer doubt about Goliath at all.
• 34:06
SPEAKER_05: But I mean to the plate to do what do what needed to be done.
• 34:09
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he said that he would do it.
• 34:11
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, facts.
• 34:12
unknown: David was not intimidated about it.
• 34:13
SPEAKER_05: He was no, he was not.
• 34:14
SPEAKER_05: He was definitely not consumed, he's definitely not intimidated by Goliath, but in all, in all, in in all, is just one of them things, man.
• 34:22
SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say that exists a terrible correlation.
• 34:25
  SPEAKER_03: So you stop me.
• 34:27
  SPEAKER_03: I'm listening because I'm like What I got a story.
• 34:30
SPEAKER_03: I got a story similar to Mr.
• 34:32
SPEAKER_03: Um, it's another story that I did.
• 34:34
SPEAKER_03: I was trying my best to be able to do it.
• 34:36
SPEAKER_03: I was trying my best to put two or two together.
• 34:38
  SPEAKER_05: I'm like, CB.
• 34:40
SPEAKER_04: I'm like Buddy C B, I didn't answer them because I'm like, Wait, stop the I'm trying to feel where he's going with a pause, like it was like a real deep question that said, What's the difference between David and Goliath and Carmelo and Metcalf situation?
• 34:55
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm just everything is different.
• 34:58
SPEAKER_05: I said, You tell me.
• 34:59
SPEAKER_05: I'm just trying to figure out where he was going with this, because I was like, You ain't been a I got a similar story.
• 35:04
SPEAKER_04: You got a similar story?
• 35:05
  SPEAKER_03: What about okay?
• 35:06
SPEAKER_03: I third grade, I brought a weapon to school.
• 35:11
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 35:11
  SPEAKER_04: What kind of weapon?
• 35:14
  SPEAKER_03: Why?
• 35:16
SPEAKER_03: Teacher was talking junk about me.
• 35:18
  SPEAKER_04: Wow.
• 35:18
  SPEAKER_03: What'd they say?
• 35:19
SPEAKER_03: It was some of the other lines he can't read.
• 35:25
SPEAKER_04: Okay, so you brought the screwdriver.
• 35:26
SPEAKER_05: So you went in the manager.
• 35:27
  SPEAKER_03: I stabbed my teacher.
• 35:33
SPEAKER_05: Wait, don't you be starting elementary school with this?
• 35:35
  SPEAKER_05: Don't you start?
• 35:37
SPEAKER_04: This was that new prospect.
• 35:38
SPEAKER_04: So you stabbed you went up to the teacher, walked in the classroom, stabbed the teacher immediately.
• 35:42
SPEAKER_04: It didn't go through it.
• 35:46
SPEAKER_04: I'm saying it's like, is that how it happened though?
• 35:49
  SPEAKER_04: Johnny.
• 35:52
SPEAKER_05: I'm not doing this away.
• 35:55
  SPEAKER_05: I'm not.
• 36:00
  SPEAKER_05: True story?
• 36:01
SPEAKER_05: I'm not I got kicked out of school.
• 36:02
SPEAKER_05: Hey, get away down here.
• 36:04
SPEAKER_05: I'm not doing this away.
• 36:05
SPEAKER_05: Somebody didn't go through it because she was fat.
• 36:06
  SPEAKER_05: It's okay.
• 36:07
SPEAKER_05: A screwdriver's gonna go through somebody's skin when they fat or skinny.
• 36:10
  unknown: Wait, wait, wait.
• 36:11
SPEAKER_04: But you gotta pay the story better, bro.
• 36:13
SPEAKER_04: You walked right in the class and just did it, or like.
• 36:15
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 36:16
SPEAKER_05: I got something for you.
• 36:17
SPEAKER_05: So you walked to her without any verbal anything and just stabbed your teeth.
• 36:22
SPEAKER_03: I said, this is for my mama.
• 36:23
SPEAKER_03: This is for my family.
• 36:24
SPEAKER_03: You can't be talking about me.
• 36:25
SPEAKER_03: So you stabbed her multiple times.
• 36:28
  SPEAKER_03: It didn't go through.
• 36:29
  SPEAKER_03: Okay, then what happened?
• 36:30
SPEAKER_03: They came and got you out of the room.
• 36:30
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, no, I got arrested.
• 36:32
SPEAKER_03: And um, I didn't get arrested, but they came and got me and uh tried to scare me, put me in the cop cart.
• 36:38
  SPEAKER_05: Lies.
• 36:39
SPEAKER_05: So you got kicked out of school.
• 36:41
SPEAKER_05: I went to four different things.
• 36:42
SPEAKER_05: In third grade, you stay somebody and they ain't arrested you.
• 36:46
  SPEAKER_05: Well, get you young.
• 36:47
SPEAKER_05: I got kicked out of school.
• 36:48
SPEAKER_05: They take it down the road.
• 36:49
SPEAKER_03: Because it didn't go through or no.
• 36:50
SPEAKER_03: You didn't went to alternate school?
• 36:52
SPEAKER_03: Oh my, yeah, I went to uh shout out to Dr.
• 36:53
  SPEAKER_03: Corey Williams and Mr.
• 36:55
  SPEAKER_03: Uh Gileard.

SPEAKER_03: They had a private school, alternative school, where Dr.
• 36:59
SPEAKER_03: Williams uh uh uh he uh teached there.
• 37:03
  SPEAKER_03: Y'all know Dr.

SPEAKER_03: He uh do yeah, do yeah, do yeah.
• 37:10
SPEAKER_03: Shout out to them, they actually mentored me, man.

  SPEAKER_03: Dr.

SPEAKER_03: Williams is giving me whoopings.
• 37:15
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 37:16
  SPEAKER_03: You needed it.
• 37:17
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so after I got after I stabbed the teacher, I went straight to um uh attorney school.
• 37:23
  SPEAKER_03: I met a lot of people.
• 37:24
SPEAKER_03: And uh yeah, my life changed after that, man.
• 37:26
SPEAKER_03: That was a great role.
• 37:27
  SPEAKER_03: Shout out to Dr.
• 37:28
  SPEAKER_03: Williams and Mr.
• 37:29
  SPEAKER_03: Gilliard.
• 37:31
  unknown: Everything's true.
• 37:32
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 37:33
SPEAKER_05: Well, you got some crazy stories, bro.
• 37:35
  SPEAKER_04: For real, bro.

SPEAKER_05: I want y'all to it may very well be true because we're not saying that we know for sure.
• 37:55
SPEAKER_05: We just talking about what we heard.
• 37:57
SPEAKER_05: So um, there's another case that you guys were um talking about as well.
• 38:02
SPEAKER_04: The one that happened in our state, y'all.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't really know.
• 38:04
SPEAKER_04: For those that don't know, we in South Carolina.
• 38:06

  SPEAKER_04: Wait, what's the case?
• 38:10
SPEAKER_03: Corey and Wade know a lot more than I know.
• 38:12

• 39:02
SPEAKER_03: Store cameras later proved that the teenager did not steal anything.
• 39:06
SPEAKER_03: Videos show him picking up bottles and placing them back on the shelf before walking out.
• 39:12
  SPEAKER_03: The pursuit.
• 39:13
SPEAKER_03: Instead of calling law enforcement, who this sound like?
• 39:16
SPEAKER_03: George Zimmerman, Rick Chow, and his adult son Andy chased the teenager down the street for roughly 130 yards.
• 39:24
  SPEAKER_03: Y'all, that's past a football field.
• 39:27
  SPEAKER_03: That's past a footfield field.
• 39:28
SPEAKER_03: Y'all know how big a fan is.
• 39:29
SPEAKER_03: So you chasing a man dead on the field.
• 39:30
SPEAKER_05: So you chasing a man dead long in the football field to shoot him.
• 39:33
  SPEAKER_03: The shooting.
• 39:34
SPEAKER_03: During the pursuit, Car Mac Car Mac Belton tripped and failed.
• 39:38
SPEAKER_03: Andy Child shouted that the team had a gun.

• 40:09
SPEAKER_04: He was like, oh yeah, that man ain't gonna be at the handle.
• 40:11
SPEAKER_05: So the man that chasing was the owner of the gas station?
• 40:13
  SPEAKER_04: And his son, right?
• 40:14
SPEAKER_04: It was the owner and his son.
• 40:15
SPEAKER_04: The owner of the gas station and his son chased him longer than a football field and shot him in the back.
• 40:21
SPEAKER_04: Instead of just calling the police and got proven not guilty.
• 40:24
  SPEAKER_04: Over water.
• 40:25
SPEAKER_04: And got proven not guilty.
• 40:27
SPEAKER_04: Now this situation right here.
• 40:28
SPEAKER_05: But why did they prove him not guilty?
• 40:30
SPEAKER_05: This situation right here is.

SPEAKER_05: And the boy was fleeing.
• 40:32
  SPEAKER_05: The boy didn't have a gun.
• 40:33
  SPEAKER_05: He was fleeing.
• 40:34
  SPEAKER_05: You remember what happened?

SPEAKER_04: They got all this in the court in the case.
• 41:36
SPEAKER_04: The man got found not guilty.
• 41:38
SPEAKER_03: And not only that, George Zimmerman was on the phone with the cop.
• 41:42
SPEAKER_04: And the cop said, And the cop said, do not pursue him.
• 41:46
SPEAKER_03: I forgot about that part.
• 41:47
SPEAKER_04: The cop told him not to follow.
• 41:48
SPEAKER_05: They still let him get away.
• 41:50
SPEAKER_04: The cop told the dispatcher.
• 41:52
  SPEAKER_04: It wasn't a cop, it was a dispatcher.
• 41:54
SPEAKER_04: The dispatcher, 911 dispatcher said, do not follow him.
• 41:58
SPEAKER_04: He followed him anyway, ended up killing him, and still got off.
• 42:02
SPEAKER_04: What's this man at today?
• 42:04
  SPEAKER_03: This man is homeless.
• 42:06
  SPEAKER_04: George Zimmerman.
• 42:10
  SPEAKER_03: How you know?
• 42:11
  SPEAKER_03: It came out.
• 42:12
SPEAKER_03: It came out in reports.
• 42:13
  SPEAKER_03: You remember that?
• 42:14
SPEAKER_04: I did hear about that.
• 42:15
  SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
• 42:15
  SPEAKER_03: I did.
• 42:15
SPEAKER_05: Because nobody, everybody probably was against him at that moment.
• 42:17
SPEAKER_03: Years later, this is what really pissed me.
• 42:20
  SPEAKER_03: The FR.
• 42:20
SPEAKER_04: Roddy Rich said in his song.
• 42:22
SPEAKER_04: This is what pissed me off.
• 42:24
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 42:25
SPEAKER_03: This is what pissed me off.
• 42:26
  SPEAKER_03: Years later.
• 42:27
SPEAKER_03: This man did a mother uh freaking meeting.
• 42:31
  SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
• 42:32
  SPEAKER_03: That's how I pissed off I'm getting.
• 42:33
  SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
• 42:34
SPEAKER_03: He did a meet and greet signing Skittles and a freaking uh.
• 42:37
SPEAKER_03: Ain't no way he did.
• 42:39
  SPEAKER_04: Time out, time out.
• 42:41
  SPEAKER_04: I will show you.
• 42:41
  SPEAKER_04: I forgot about that.
• 42:42
SPEAKER_04: I think I did hear about that.
• 42:44
SPEAKER_04: If that ain't a slap in the face, I don't know what it is.
• 42:47
SPEAKER_04: I actually talked to Trevor Martin daddy too.
• 42:49
SPEAKER_04: I talked to his daddy before.
• 42:50
SPEAKER_05: So you mean telling me that this boy didn't meet and greet signing Skittles?
• 42:56
  SPEAKER_05: I believe it, bro.
• 42:58
SPEAKER_04: They tell you it was intentional.
• 42:59
  SPEAKER_04: People evil in demonic.
• 43:00
SPEAKER_05: People evil, bro, and demon.
• 43:01
SPEAKER_04: It show you that it was they don't even really be human beings, bro.
• 43:04
SPEAKER_04: They just show you it was intentional.
• 43:06
SPEAKER_05: If you can make a mockery out of what you did to this dude, it showed you that it was intentional.
• 43:10
  SPEAKER_05: It had to be.
• 43:19
SPEAKER_03: Which drew significant backlash and he was signing Skittles, tease, and the Confederate flag.
• 43:25
SPEAKER_03: See the thing about stuff like that.
• 43:26
  SPEAKER_04: The Confederate flag.
• 43:28
SPEAKER_04: See, see the thing about stuff like that.
• 43:30
SPEAKER_04: God, when in the Bible, when God says vengeance is mine, say the Lord.
• 43:36
SPEAKER_04: It ain't nothing that we can do as human beings that that's that's that's that's that's got what God got coming for people like that is bigger than what we can do.
• 43:44
  SPEAKER_04: You're right.
• 43:45
SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
• 43:45
  SPEAKER_04: You're right.
• 43:46
SPEAKER_04: And not saying that George Zimmerman can't change.
• 43:48
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he can change.
• 43:49
SPEAKER_04: One thing we can't never do is discredit the the blood of Christ.
• 43:52
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we can't discredit anybody.
• 43:54
  SPEAKER_04: Anybody.
• 43:54
SPEAKER_04: No matter how, because Saul got changed to Paul.
• 43:57
SPEAKER_04: Saul was killing people too.
• 43:59
  SPEAKER_04: So
• 44:00
SPEAKER_03: Anybody can change their ways and and and and come into you know what I'm saying the face but at the end of the day bro this this this Columbia situation how I'm not even gonna say how do you get off on that what's what's more to it keep this heap this so why wait wait Rick Rick Chow Rick Chow This is an Asian guy oh I and I got I got something too on the a former convention store owner in Columbia South Carolina fired approximately six shots at a woman's car window in 2015 you know why he fired shots y'all why he suspected her shoplifting and what happened to him then do Chow got do do do is this dude part of the mob or something do he got some type of affiliation with somebody in the higher ups because this ain't adding up it's not adding up this on this ain't this don't seem like we're talking about no regular civilian yeah it seems like we talking about somebody who got some pull somewhere and because why you not why you shooting at somebody in 2015 and it's 2000 and 26 10 years later matter of fact didn't this incident happen like in 2022 or something like that?
• 45:07
SPEAKER_04: No no no I'm talking about the Columbia shooting 2023 yeah so this this so this happened three years ago which I didn't hear about this either and we live in Anderson South Carolina and if I did hear about it probably was something quick yeah we live in we live two hours away we live we live about two hours away from this incident that we're talking about now and three years later the case got got got found like you know they settled on the case right so this whole time was he locked up or was he free out on bond?
• 45:33
SPEAKER_05: Yeah he was a free man he didn't even go to trial so either way so wait wait wait so the so so the the case that just happened in Columbia he didn't go to trial with it he didn't go to trial in the 2015 incident of shooting six times at a one just did so the one he just did he go to jail no he got found not guilty of murder no I'm saying like when it happened because this happened this happened three years ago yeah he never did so when it happened three years ago did he ever go to jail yeah he went to jail for how long for what three years oh so he's been locked up he'd been locked up but now he's out but he got proven not guilty bro so this man pause pause so this man not only takes not only suspects his kid of stealing water and the video footage says that he put he he put the water back the guy was fleeing which in a which in a casual dialing situation he don't left your facility did but you chase him over a football field and shoot him somebody said he had a gun and they prove that he did not have a gun and you still walk away what is that called ladies and gentlemen I gotta be honest that's racism that is gotta be there's no other word there's no other word for that and it's fine because there's no other word there's no other justification there's not there's nah there's no justification it ain't even racism in terms of aging over black it's it's it's is it's it's just it's just a an evident point to like how far we how far we are as black people bro we're no bro America bro I gotta point it to that though bro America don't care about black folk bro they never they never have bro I'm done supporting Chinese bro I'm sorry to say that but I'm done so you sitting telling me you ain't gonna eat no more Low May no so here's the thing no here's the thing at all he's gonna eat a Chinese I'm gonna break it down to you whenever you have seen you can't go in you can't one Chinese person doing something like that you're gonna discredit a whole Chinese and I'm gonna tell you why you know why tell me why when have seen the Chinese support a black community but whenever they need something from us they put their Chinese stores in the hood they put their liquor stores in the hood and they benefit off a black community because that's nowhere they can profit.
• 47:47
SPEAKER_03: If you ever see a Chinese man try to offer uh doing something for black people you can never see it.
• 47:52
  SPEAKER_04: What about karate kids?
• 47:54
SPEAKER_03: I'm done karate kid but no for real though bro yeah bro you is not gonna see no liquor store in no rich white neighborhood you'll see it in a private neighborhood but but they they but it they they can't red lining that's all bro you gonna stop drinking alcohol I don't drink alcohol but I just stopped yesterday it's just a point of if you guys you guys need to look up what redlining means.
• 48:22
SPEAKER_05: So back it up so after I tell you so after the Civil War um when Abraham freed the slaves uh so when the black people they they was in a war they they got their freedom they was chosen to be in these red lining communities which means these poverty communities these communities ran down these communities fall apart these communities with the most crime rates and they was forcing black people to live in these areas which we have nowadays that's why people black people don't like coming out of the hood that's why people say oh I love my hood I I rep I rep my hood that's a systemic thing for sure it's called a domino effect yeah it's definitely a domino effect bro but it's wild and I and that's not that's that's that's crazy bad for his his parents man feel bad for his family bro because he didn't do anything and I wonder on what grounds does it did it say 14 did it say did it say what grounds they had to find him not guilty yeah what's what what did they how did they how did they how did they how did they how did they get past that how did they win what did his defense say that was it even the court case what what who was his lawyer I'm telling you that's what I want to know who was his lawyer to be able to to get this man off after three years after killing somebody at this point close your store you talking about avoidable you talking about we talk about being avoidable this was avoidable I saw they they got a video they got a video of this bro post post a video clip on the on the on the podcast hey at this at this point close your store it's a video of the store got you shooting at people calling it you can show Johnny you can show Johnny now if you want to it's it's a video of the of him at the convenience store it show yeah it showed him coming in he put his book bag down he walked down the aisle came back and just and like ran out the store did they say something to him I think I think they said they like they they said something to him while he was in the store.
• 50:09
SPEAKER_04: But he left the book back at the store I think he left his book back at the store and ran out.
• 50:13
  SPEAKER_05: Why he run?
• 50:14
SPEAKER_04: I don't know I don't know why he ran he might have been scared he 14 I mean yeah true true true true might have been scared they might have been like I don't know they might have been like hey what are you doing?
• 50:23
SPEAKER_03: Hey stop stealing I don't they they can't say anything to make him scared but it's definitely it's a video it's a video of the boy walking actually in the gas station first we're gonna begin with uh day two of the Rick Chow Rick Chow murder trial first thing on Friday morning the prosecution is expected to rest its case in the murder trial of Rick Chow he is accused of killing 14 year old Cyrus Carmack Bell staring at him like a hull that's crazy what is he to do to make y'all stare at him like somebody just tough best the video Oh yeah see look they ask you to look look at he ain't even run it he wasn't even running I'm I'ma run it to I'ma run it too much wild bro yeah he walked outcom he ain't even like you know what I'm saying because most people they stealing they gonna be like they take off yeah you about to go grab me yeah I'ma run it too Bro look at this bro look at bro look at how he go like he he walking up the store nonchalant talk to the woman for a little bit right there right there right there I ain't got no water in my pocket I ain't got no water in my pocket I'm sorry at this point somebody gotta intervene for this young man yeah you gotta intervene yeah I don't care what the situation is I don't care how it looks bro you gotta intervene what what do you what he oh I I pay for this be like I got him don't worry as black people we gotta Devin won't shout at Devin once he always told me we have to be um we gotta be alert for we gotta be a we gotta be a situation awareness situation awareness that's what he says look at this look look he walked about the why y'all got a gun eat out of there and you done chased that man over 130 with a gun now looking at this video with a gun looking at this video that we just saw ain't no way you're gonna say tell me that man innocent yeah they intentionally meant to do that bro they haul they walked this they walked that man down literally they literally walked that man down and killed him bro and even if he did steal water even if he did even if he did steal a couple water bottles water did did the case come out where they fight he didn't even steal nothing right did he he only think he actually stole anything and he said I didn't have no water in my pocket.
• 55:36
SPEAKER_03: The self-defense claim child's defense argued he acted in self-defense to protect his son his son testified that he chased the team because he thought he was shoplifting a water bottles but fired only after Carmack Belton pointed a nine millimeter handgun at him during the pursuit it was undisputed that the teenager had a loaded nine millimeter pistol on him that night the defense argued this created a reasonable fear for their safety oh so he did have a gun on him they couldn't they could undisputed undisputed mean you can't deny it they couldn't identify it.
• 56:09
SPEAKER_03: No I thought undisputed mean you can't deny it read that part again you said he you said it it was undisputed that the teenager had a loaded nine millimeter pistol that mean he had that mean he had a gun on him right undisputed undisputed mean it's no it's no no it's no negotiation like when you like when you the undisputed heavyweight champ is nothing it's nothing to talk about you the you the champ yeah let me let me show y'all it says it's undisputed what undisputed mean undisputed that he had a nine millimeter gun on him that's what it said I thought he didn't have a weapon on him though I'm about to read it but either way even if he did have a gun on him so yes 14 year old Cyrus Carmack Beltner was poss in possession of a loaded nine millimeter similar bad handgun on the exactly why the specific whether he brandished it was highly disputed during the trial of former sort uh you know what this is why they got off because he had a loaded gun on him he's not dead he can't tell what happened but you got a two of them they could have said he pointed he pointed at them and that's what they fired at them and that's what they said because they pointed the gun at them so he read and said that they they pointed he pointed the gun at them and they felt threatened so they shot him.
• 57:15
SPEAKER_03: They shot him no the point he didn't point no gun the gun fell out but what it say though he tripped out and the gun fell out that's what he said he got a gun and then he shot him but then you just read something that said that he pointed the gun child defense argued for self-defense claim claim that Belton pointed the gun.
• 57:31
SPEAKER_04: But the thing is he tripped he tripped and the gun came out but that's what his defense is gonna do where's the proof where's the proof that he tripped where's the proof that he tripped a dead man can't testify can't testify bro so as an alive man I can say you did something that you really didn't do.
• 57:47
SPEAKER_04: Yeah I can say you pointed a gun at me even though you really didn't point a gun at me that's bro that's insane this has been wild y'all so this man had a lot of gun on him had a load of gun on him and I'm not saying that's how they got away bro I'm telling you how they got away how they got away how they got away it wasn't making sense at first it wasn't making sense at first but I still think it's wrong oh definitely wrong they I still think they that that justice was not served by any means because they didn't have to do all of that over water let it go we don't know the truth do y'all so we we all in agreement that justice was not served when it came to this Columbia case do y'all want to give y'all answer for the first case do y'all feel like justice was served on that first conversation we had or y'all want to leave that alone?
• 58:30
SPEAKER_05: I don't think I feel like I need if if we if with with the first case if we're talking about just being served and it and it is what they're saying it is then he was wrong.
• 58:41
SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
• 58:42
SPEAKER_04: But if there more if there if there's more facts in the case when videos comes out and we can see what was going on and for any reason this young man was threatened for real for real if they choking him they don't hit him in the head with a brain we don't know what happened they could have they could have picked up something that was heavy metal and hit him with you know what I'm saying you don't know what happened but you know with that first case I'm still kind of uh in the air but um with this second case bro definitely wrong for it definitely wrong bro definitely wrong for it could have just let that boy run off bro could've let that boy run for it but think they would have chased a little Asian boy like that no you see what I'm saying that's crazy hey man if I knew then what I know now the piecing episode six ain't it episode six many we appreciate y'all tuning in man we know we talked for a good little minute about this topic this subject if y'all got any comments questions or concerns um don't get nothing twisted or or misconstrued in this conversation but we for our people for first and foremost and understand that but we also are not the type of black folk to make excuses for everything you see what I'm saying we the type of black folk to where when we know there's some injustice we're gonna call it out and we and we the type of black folk that also boy if we wrong we wrong yeah we both we both of them we for the we for us but at the same time we know we know us too yeah and we know how we can be that's we gotta be real as people man and it's like Corey's right we're not even calling nobody right or wrong in this case we we feel bad for both parents we feel bad for for the victim for the victim we feel bad for for Anthony being in prison like all of it's such a sad story man but like we call we call it what it is right and right is wrong is wrong.
• 1:00:27
SPEAKER_04: You know I'm not finna have my brother even if Corey do something crazy I know Corey did it crazy I ain't finna be up and free my brother you know what I'm saying it's just like hey you know it is what it is man but um man it's can we take what we can leave with the people we can leave with the people many knew then what you know now in situations like that if you could put yourself in both of them yup it was what you was about to say if you could put yourself in both of these boys' situations let's start off with the Columbia boy the Columbia boy I ain't gonna lie just looking at the video I would've taken my hoodie off I would have emptied my pockets I would have did all that right then and there I would have I would've shoulder I would have showed her what I got yeah you see what I'm saying it wouldn't have been no I'm and again we're not saying we're not saying the 14 year old boy was being prideful in that situation but we heard what he said he had his hands in his pockets yeah I want y'all to pay attention to the to the to the to the jet what you mean he stopped and he said I have nothing I know but I'm saying when with the video that we saw his hands were still in his pockets when he was saying it yeah so it wasn't like no like this like he was doing like this he might have but in the video his hands was in his pockets and he was saying to her I don't have no water yeah I would have went a step further and showed you I didn't have no water yeah so now you can call your dogs off because I see your husband and your son trying to creep up on me.
• 1:01:44
SPEAKER_05: Yeah and then that black man was in there so he could have you know he could have been a witness all day hey hey bro lady let's harass me or hey bro I got a weapon on me come stand beside me why I'm gonna give it to you but he's 14 he ain't supposed to have no weapon on him anyway legally you can't have no gun on you when you're 14.
• 1:02:02
SPEAKER_04: So he did this when he did this you see what I'm saying you see that you see what I'm saying he so even if but how but how many times like we done seen like people try to like be funny in situations like that knowing he he he probably like it like he said he probably didn't have nothing on him but I gotta I gotta prove a point yeah you ain't finna you ain't finna be coming up you ain't my mama you ain't my this again this is not how we we're not saying that this was his mindset we're just looking at it from a futuristic standpoint don't have that type of mindset if you in somebody else store in somebody else's place of business and they think you stealing and you not stealing show them that you're not stealing don't buy nothing out there store and walk your tail out there store don't ever go back.
• 1:02:41
