- 0:00Hmmmm, Turn of Glory podcast Game Week is here, Hunters Zarberdick, the
- 0:24code of Free Day Austin Rose. We finally got technology to work with dacks
- 0:31two thousand and twelve computer that he still has seventeen seventeen, and his phone
- 0:39is still gonna be buzzing during the pod thanks to his notifications. So you're
- 0:45welcome. Twenty seventeen is not even that old. I don't understan. How
- 0:51did you make it through the pandemic without zoom? What did you do?
- 0:57Uh? Did not use didn't use zoom at all? How is it even
- 1:00possible? Oh? Wait, yeah, I did for classes. It barely
- 1:04worked. It was terrible. And how'd you do in those classes? Dack?
- 1:10Yep, you put it on the background and do something else. Huh
- 1:14sounds about right. Shout out boyd. Gotta get a shout to Victor Bob
- 1:22Wind winning the tour championship, Dak. What would you do with that much
- 1:26money? Oh? I went, I would not remember this night at all,
- 1:30that's for sure. I'm not surprised by that. Eighteen million dollars and
- 1:36he's our age, he's twenty five five eighteen million dollars. I'd go buy
- 1:44a house, a big house. Nice, maybe the actual Big House in
- 1:52Michigan. He take, he just buys out, Jim Rbot is there.
- 1:59I'm there's naming rights to it, right? Is there a name to the
- 2:04field? There's it just called the Big House. I guess I'm pretty sure
- 2:07rights to it nowhere else Damon doesn't have naming rights. No idea, Austin,
- 2:15what would you do with eighteen million? First thing, I've always wanted
- 2:17to go to a bar and say this one's on me and never won cheer
- 2:21from you, because like they'll all but put drinks on my tab. That
- 2:24would definitely be it. And then I'd probably build a pretty dope curling facility
- 2:28in Omaha. I like Dak. Dak does that pretty much every other weekend.
- 2:31So well, I'm gonna tat you with Dak. You could you could
- 2:36hit a hold on one then drinks them beyond you. I could. You're
- 2:40right? If I was a good at golfing, it could be a potential.
- 2:46Oh boy, all right, Minnesota game week. We're gonna do our
- 2:51Minnesota preview today because of the Thursday game here. So normally on a Saturday
- 3:00game we do the preview on Wednesday and then recap on Sunday. We don't
- 3:02have a recap to do, so we're going to preview now the PJ.
- 3:09Fleck Golden gopherst goes and you're going to this game. I will be heading
- 3:16up Wednesday night, Dack. Are we rolling the boat this week? We're
- 3:24rolling a can treat my people? Nice? Up there? People? Goodness?
- 3:31So quick to jump from the Longhorns to the Golden Gophers. I've been
- 3:36run the boat for a couple of years. I called in after what's that
- 3:39postgame radio show? The ticket? Yeahd wrap up? I called into it
- 3:47after they lost minutes onta one time. I started an argument? What you
- 3:51start? I said? I said, are you guys sure that Logan's mother
- 3:54is in better than Adrian? And one one was on Adrian's side when one
- 3:57was on s mothers and it was a big fight after the Gopher game.
- 4:01H Wow, you're so good. That's why we brought him in. You
- 4:09know, the talent really showed. The scouts saw the clips, they heard
- 4:13the audio set your profile to us. So now who's better eight than colleague
- 4:17Manus or Tanner Morgan? Hey k, hey K, you're on a you're
- 4:27on a nickname basis with the quarterback. Now I'm gonna try his last name,
- 4:34you can at least please, and you're like, nah a k k
- 4:42ak a the Greek Rocket Is that his nickname? I heard someone call him
- 4:51that? Or the Greek rifle? Sorry, the Greek rifle? What how
- 4:58Greek is he? I don't know his last name to gree because that's all
- 5:00we know. He was born in Anatoka, Illinois. So anyways, all
- 5:08right, all right? First, DJ Flack head coach, seventh year.
- 5:15I think if you're a Minnesota fan, one of the longest ten year Big
- 5:19Ten coaches, I think you're happy with the result. Team won eleven games
- 5:25in twenty nineteen. They've won nine games the past two years. Last year
- 5:29they went to nine and four and they won in I can't remember what bowl
- 5:34game, but they did win their bowl game. Pin Stripe who they beat?
- 5:39Dad Syracuse Syracuse with with Ak forty seven r DC coordinator. Interesting Interesting
- 5:47there. PJ. Fleck has established the culture at Minnesota and did that early
- 5:59on. I think the fun hype has worn off a little bit, but
- 6:05it obviously like people, it comes across very quirky like. People don't like
- 6:11him because of it. Great, fine, I don't care whatever, Like
- 6:15do do the kids? And does Minnesota latch on it? Like that's what's
- 6:19important with all that stuff, because all people are gonna hate, people are
- 6:23gonna think he's whatever. But are they still winning games? And the answer
- 6:28that's they're not. They're not a powerhouse, but they're still winning games.
- 6:30They have they have a solid program and they're established. Yeah, they're good
- 6:34for they're kind of you know, it's kind of like Iowa. They're good
- 6:36for eight nine wins a year. I feel pretty comfortable saying that. And
- 6:44how ten years ago they were one of the worst programs in nation, probably
- 6:46ten fifteen years ago. They've been for last ten because PJ. Flack came
- 6:50over from Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Western, that's right. And
- 6:58when we get into the lineup players here, not that this is anything to
- 7:01do with him going there, but the transfer portal, they love pulling from
- 7:05Western Michigan. They really they have several players coming over from the Broncos,
- 7:14starting running back coming over from there, and the receiver, a couple of
- 7:16safeties. Like they love pulling from those smaller schools in Michigan, Dak You
- 7:30have to explain this to me because I remember this when I was starting to
- 7:33like look at stuff on Minnesota and then I forgot because it like went away.
- 7:36What was all of the crap that was that, like all the controversial
- 7:42like around around Minnesota and PJ flat does it happened? It's like a month
- 7:46ago that all this stuff came out and then like all of a sudden,
- 7:47it's gone. Basically, keep you so see you when out of in community
- 7:53service, you could he'd give you like fake money and you could buy yourself
- 7:58out of drug gask set yes, and that I was like the main thing,
- 8:03if you perform well, it bought you favors to avoid. Yeah,
- 8:09it was the drug testing was probably the big one. But it also was
- 8:11like you don't have to run. You don't have to because you did this.
- 8:16The awarded points based off of activities. Basically it was how it came
- 8:18down to. So what's what happened? Like, is it still an investigation?
- 8:24I just think there are a bunch of p words. I don't think.
- 8:28I don't think there's ever an official investigation. I think it was just
- 8:31a couple of anonymous former athletes came out and said that they thought there's the
- 8:35culture was toxic, and I don't remember an NCAA investigation into it. I
- 8:41could really think they're investigating him. Okay, no punishment, Like I don't.
- 8:46All I remember hearing was that he was making people run and practice and
- 8:50people like that was the whole like really going to make a big deal about
- 8:54this now in today's society that we're punishing players and before yeah, but by
- 9:00making him run. But like the big one was definitely the avoiding drug test.
- 9:03Okay, oh there is there was one other thing that he probably get
- 9:07to spend in a game for this if he when he walks in the room
- 9:11for a meeting, they have to clap and it was not loud enough to
- 9:13walk back out and walk back in until he likes the clapping sound. That's
- 9:20where Dak draws the line, that's that's just insane. You can you can
- 9:28piss, you can piss dirty all you want, but don't do that.
- 9:31So here's a statement regarding it. It was a form of Minnesota football player
- 9:35described coach Flex program as a cult legend. The program's culture is fraught with
- 9:39intimidation toxicity. The allegations include a system device by Flex called the Flex Bank,
- 9:45which players could rack up good will to circumvent the repercussions of bailed drug
- 9:48tests or other violations. Okay, so it was like like the cult word.
- 9:54I remember hearing and seeing that, which, yeah, I mean,
- 9:58if I had to describe what the row the boat thing, it's it's cult
- 10:01ships. It's very like the way he acts too. He's like a cult
- 10:05leader of young men. Like that's what he's doing. But held things go
- 10:13right, I agree. So anyways, I just wanted to clear that out
- 10:16because I kind of forgot about it and we don't hear about it anymore.
- 10:20So, okay, transfer portal and we're gonna get into the players here from
- 10:26Minnesota. They I think won the portal. Don't know a lot of these
- 10:33guys. They did bring in a lot of secondary players. They brought in
- 10:37two wide receivers, running back Sean Tyler from Western Michigan, DA. Do
- 10:43we know anything out Dat's like the Minnesota expert right now, And if he's
- 10:48an expert or anything, it's anything to do with Minnesota football. So what
- 10:54else do we know about the portal from Minnesota? Well, they got that
- 10:58that running back I think five six, one hundred and eighty pounds something like
- 11:03that, so it will see even take a hittie my breaking two first naps,
- 11:09so we'll see. They lose mo Ibraheim, who was a leading rusher
- 11:18I believe, career leading rusher for Minnesota, so that'll be a big loss
- 11:22for sure. On the offensive side of the ball, they had a new
- 11:26offensive coordinator Greg It looks like Harbaugh spelled like harbab but has pronounced harbou.
- 11:35Oh. Greg Harbou is the new OC. They last year were sixteenth in
- 11:41the nation and rushing one hundred fourteenth, passing sixty fourth overall. That tells
- 11:48you what what they wanted to do last year. I'm not thinking it'll be
- 11:54anything different this year. I think you're this has been for a long time,
- 12:01not just last year. Well, Tanner Morgan sucks. Is that that's
- 12:09you're right. If you have a guy for five years at quarterback, it
- 12:11probably impacts what you do as a as a school. You're not gonna be
- 12:16slinging the ball around. Yeah, it's not like he was throwing the bad
- 12:18people. Their wide receiver room was usually pretty stacked. Yeah, I mean
- 12:22Bateman and who was the other guy that Tyler Johnson yep and Chris Ottman Bell
- 12:30was out last year, but he's back this year and playing again, so
- 12:35that's lovely. Corey Crumbs, Elijah Spencer, a couple of transfer guys coming
- 12:39in that have i mean significant numbers from the schools they came from in the
- 12:46portal and then Daniel Jackson and then their tight end Brevin span Ford, another
- 12:50guy that's gonna get a lot of targets. Here's the question mark that hopefully
- 12:56we can take advantage of the only return two offensive linemen from last year's starting
- 13:03five now and they're offensive monster life. It's always huge. It's been huge
- 13:09for a long time. The goodness that that's a positive. But the scary
- 13:13thing is they have they're known for their large offensive lines, and they are
- 13:18an established program in their seventh year under Flack, Like, they're probably just
- 13:22gonna reload, and I mean, you look at it who it is.
- 13:26So they're projected. But so it's red shirt junior, red shirt teen,
- 13:31your red shirt senior, red shirt senior, and red shirt junior is their
- 13:35projective started offensive line. So I mean they're gonna be big guys. They've
- 13:39been in the program for four to five years. They're not just you know,
- 13:45freshmen coming in that they're gonna get pushed around for I mean that's their
- 13:50projective starting lineup, immittedly, so I don't know, it might be a
- 13:52little different, but they're they're good. I don't know if they can run
- 14:01the ballot videot last year though, because that rain back come in is not
- 14:03a bell call. Like he's super small. So Sean Tyler last year rush
- 14:09for two two to nine carries at Western Michigan University for a thousand and twenty
- 14:15seven yards, so basically five yards of carry, seven touchdowns. He seems
- 14:20like he's Yeah, he's a smaller back. There's also a redshirt freshman,
- 14:24Zach Evans, that they're supposedly excited about too, So I would guess that
- 14:28we're going to see a combination of both of them. I think they're gonna
- 14:33run Callick Mannus a lot too. He I know he came in last year
- 14:37I believe against us, and maybe that was been two years ago, I
- 14:39don't remember, but he, I mean, he can run. He's he's
- 14:43a dual threat guy, and it caused us problem because I remember he had
- 14:46a long breakaway run against us that we're like, oh shit, so they're
- 14:50gonna use him I think a lot in the run game as well. I
- 14:54just don't see them drastically flipping script here because they lost Tanner Morgan slash MOI
- 15:03bream like, they're probably gonna stick to what they know how to do.
- 15:09That now gets into our three three, five and how that's going to counter
- 15:13that. And we've talked a lot about how we really don't know what that's
- 15:16gonna look like and how that's going to fare in the Big ten. But
- 15:20you're gonna get it. You're gonna get it from game one right away to
- 15:22know if if it can handle a team that's going to be very run heavy.
- 15:26That's the scary part, is ken Art front seven eight. However,
- 15:33men you have in the box, can we hold our own? I think
- 15:35it's Minnesota and that's where it could get really scary if we can't early on.
- 15:41Yeah, I mean klick himnis. He started four games five games for
- 15:46them, four games last year and they went three and one, with their
- 15:52one lost being to Iowa by three points. Granted it was thirteen to ten.
- 15:56P J. Blacks never beat Kirk Ferren's by the way, Does that
- 16:00to point that out? Really? In fact? Yeah, Okay, he
- 16:04didn't bring that it out, but he did throw four interceptions. You only
- 16:10threw three touchdowns four interceptions starting four games. Looking at the Syracuse game,
- 16:17you know you're talking about the defensive matchup against Minnesota. They Syracuse lost.
- 16:22So the Syracuse, like we said, our DC was the DC for Syracuse.
- 16:29So it's kind of a good good comparison. Syracuse lost twenty to twenty
- 16:33eight, and they gave up seventy seven rushing yards. Minnesota only had seventy
- 16:41seven rushing yards against Syracuse and one hundred and thirty eight passing yards. How
- 16:45they lost twenty eight to twenty Looking at those numbers, I have no freaking
- 16:51idea I had had like special teams turnovers. I don't know there was one
- 16:56turnover, one interception there. They had two hundred fifteen total offensive yards and
- 17:02they Syracuse lost. Good, you're getting me getting me excited. Now the
- 17:06three three five can do it so. And I don't know if you heard.
- 17:10PJ. Fleck was talking in a conference or a pressor and he was
- 17:12talking about the past and what the three three five, and he said,
- 17:17I hate playing the three three five. It's it's tough. Soda. Da
- 17:22Dak does not like the three three five. Did you see did you see
- 17:26the comments that Fleck made on Nebraska? Austin, you read him, Dak,
- 17:32you read them? I did not. They They were very positive,
- 17:38like talking very highly of coach Rule, and it seems like Rule and Fleck
- 17:44like know each other fairly well and they get along. I don't think Fleck
- 17:48and frosted at all. I think they hate each other's guts, so I
- 17:52think they have a mutual respect there. But a lot of Flex comments were
- 17:56like Nebraska is big upfront, like they got some dudes three three five,
- 18:00scary, you don't know what to expect. And to me, it all
- 18:04not that it's not fake, but I was like, is he watching film
- 18:07and just saying like we're like a lot better than them, So I gotta
- 18:12really like And we were competitive last year, I mean we were more competitive,
- 18:17pretty low. He had one really big run if I remember correctly,
- 18:19but he didn't do a bunch of damage against US. We lost by one
- 18:22score. It wasn't like they came and steamrolled us. T know what happened
- 18:27too, I think I think you're right. Yeah, And then Fuimus came
- 18:32in and we just did not adjust, which is not anything new. For
- 18:34us. Gosh, I'm still trying to figure out how pre consious he has
- 18:41lost this Minnesota game. I'm sorry, guys, I don't understand that that
- 18:45gout. It's very intriguing though, that when you prep for a game,
- 18:51right the last game that they prepped for was that Bowl game against Syracuse,
- 18:55going against a three three five that the Big Ten doesn't usually see, so
- 18:59it was probably newrapping for it. It's now funny that that same defense and
- 19:03coach is now what they're going against in week one for the next year.
- 19:07Dak, every time I say three three five, you just shake your head.
- 19:11No, I hate it. Every single time. You're just like he's
- 19:18gonna He's gonna come in on Sunday and say I told you guys it sucks.
- 19:22Yeah, Hey, fair warning already for next Sunday, I'm gonna be
- 19:26in the ozarks a bachelor party. I might be coming live from a bar.
- 19:29I don't know. So yeah, we'll see how that goes. Thanks
- 19:33for letting the people know. Just whenever happens on that podcast, just forget
- 19:37about it. Defensively, here, Minnesota brings back six on defense from their
- 19:47starting eleven. Defensive coordinator Joe ROSSI listen to these stats. I knew Minnesota's
- 19:52defense was good. I didn't realize this good. They're had the fourth best
- 19:59scoring defense nation, fifteenth best rush defense, and fifteenth best pass defense in
- 20:06the nation. Now keep in mind, you do play Iowa, you play
- 20:11your Here's their schedule last year, New Mexico State, Western Illinois, Colorado,
- 20:18Michigan State, Perdue, Illinois, Penn State, Rutgers, Nebraska,
- 20:22Northwestern Iowa, Wisconsin. Now that not the most challenging schedule. You can
- 20:30argue that, but at the same time, you can't control who's on your
- 20:32schedule. And I agree. I agree they'll did well. So that defense
- 20:37that could be scary with our offense not knowing what we are going to be
- 20:44doing. Like their defense is going to be good. It's strong. They
- 20:48bring back a lot of experience, and the places that they lost in the
- 20:52secondary they filled with transfer portal guys. There's a reason I think the over
- 20:57under for the games. I think it's at forty three right now, Like
- 21:00it's not very high at all, and it feels like, oh, we
- 21:03should be able to score more. But I mean, there's a chance that
- 21:07we don't score very many points. If for our offensive line sucks, which
- 21:11we think it probably could again. I think I'll go for a day.
- 21:21Well, I last year, a K forty seven played a lot of the
- 21:25games and defense had to carry him forty seven. It's not a K.
- 21:30After he asked if there was at earlier on I don't know why I've a
- 21:37T wrote down here. I don't. I don't know what I was looking
- 21:38at. But anyway, the defense had to carry him a lot last year.
- 21:48And that's true. They didn't play that tough of offense like last year
- 21:52inst Nebraska. I think Smothers started the game for you guys, so it
- 21:57wasn't It's not like they were playing offense. Their offense didn't have like Ibraheim
- 22:02could just eat up the clock. I mean he was getting one hundred and
- 22:06fifty yards a game like there. They didn't. Their offense didn't have to
- 22:10do anything. Their defense is good enough to hold them in games, and
- 22:11the offense was good enough to keep the defense off the field. Like that's
- 22:15all they need. That's all you have to do. I mean, classic
- 22:18Big ten West football to a T like that, that's their m With what
- 22:23PJ Flex trying to do. Let's run through the depth chart. So here's
- 22:29the depth chart came out. I don't know what this was Tuesday, Monday,
- 22:33So left tack Sartin, left tackle, Turner Corcoran, look guard Ethan
- 22:37Piper, center, Ben Scott, newly newly right guard, Bryce Benhart,
- 22:44right tackle named Barkshire. I'm sorry say so starting with the line, that's
- 22:48who we expected. The only big surprise I think from that is that,
- 22:56yeah he is on there, that the stream like Jack like he's coming back
- 23:02from injury. I don't think it that was super unexpected, but there was
- 23:06a potential that he might have been at I don't know where he would have
- 23:08been, left tackle, right tackle, ben Hart moved to left. I
- 23:11don't know he does like that. That that's the guy rules been gassing up
- 23:19though. He's like, this guy's an player the offensive line. Like how
- 23:23weird is it that? Like all these guys have experience, like a lot
- 23:29of experience. That should be a positive thing, but the problem is they're
- 23:33all not very bad for the last three years. They're all still here,
- 23:37like Ben Scott bringing him and I think it's going to help, and I
- 23:41guess Neil not playing yet, but these other guys in like God, him
- 23:45and Ethan Piper's back again, like, good god, we have to deal
- 23:48with that again. Ben Hart's back like it's not good, like it's scary,
- 23:52which is because the offensive lineman kind of been like the highlight of like
- 23:56they're the I don't want to say highlight, but all of the media,
- 24:00like the Husker sports stuff that they put out. It's like Ethan Piper and
- 24:06the offensive line always gets interviewed and everyone's like, oh man, this guy's
- 24:10an NFL guy and this guy is talented, and yeah, it's just weird.
- 24:15So they they sucked last year and they say it screwed. Let's run
- 24:18it back instead of going the transfer port. Who we get somebody? I
- 24:19mean, we got a couple, We got one guy, we got a
- 24:22really good guy. And then Newly being back will help because he was supposed
- 24:26to be our starting center last year before he got suspended for performance enhancing drugst
- 24:33Me back black Money No in the Fleck Bank. Nate Borkshire listed that one
- 24:41for and then Thomas Fidoni. We're gonna see a lot of two tight ends
- 24:44stuff. I think. So I think Fidoni will play and I think I
- 24:48think Gilbert's gonna play them too. He's not listed because it's too deep.
- 24:51But I think, I think hopefully we're gonna see all three of those guys
- 24:53in some capacity. Eric Gilbert did not get his waiver waves correct. I
- 25:03think he can't play. Yeah, maybe now they're still working on that.
- 25:07I think they're still working on it. At the slot, you got Billy
- 25:11Kemp wide receiver, Alex Bullock and Isaiah Isaic Garcia Castineta QB. Obviously Jeff
- 25:18Sim's no surprise they're running back Gaber. I mean we found that out.
- 25:21And then Jane Ryan Bonner as our fullback. I think everyone else, everything
- 25:26else seems the offense honestly is what we expected. Probably Mo Washington still coming
- 25:30off injuries. Boy, he's not starting over. Alex Bullock would be my
- 25:33guess. Yeah, I I'm a little scared that we don't have much talent
- 25:45like he's gonna be our best widers. When I say talent, like big
- 25:48play guys that we don't like. We talked about that in the offensive Freeby.
- 25:53We don't have a Tray Palmer, a wan Dale. Guys like that.
- 25:56They can just go make a play on this roster right now. The
- 26:00guy, the guy that I think it could be is Jeff Sims with his
- 26:03legs. Yeah, that's my only hope. But Billy Kemp, I think
- 26:08people want him to be that person, but I don't. I don't.
- 26:11I don't think he is. I think he's more of a He's a slot
- 26:15possession guy, a sure handed Yeah. So that's what's scary. Looking at
- 26:19the offensive depth chart when I was like reviewing, and I'm like, oh,
- 26:22boy, like I think Bullocks had a good camp. It sounds like,
- 26:26but I mean he's a walk on from and then state walk on.
- 26:30I think like Malachai Coleman notably not on the depth chart yep. Wunston,
- 26:36Tyler Han and Joshua Fleeks listed as other wide receivers. Well that's good,
- 26:42Oh good for it. That's the thing about the wide receivers with bets leaving
- 26:48after your ones, your backups aren't you're hurting for backups. Yep. But
- 26:53I also I also don't know how much are we gonna throw it? Like
- 26:59if Sims can't throw, we're not gonna be thrown it anyways. Like we
- 27:02were going to have to rely on the run heavily, I believe. Yeah,
- 27:07And like I said, I think our tight ends are gonna be our
- 27:11best receivers, and I think Premier Johnson is gonna be a really good receiver.
- 27:12Two also listed at three, which is it not even an or?
- 27:18Right? Sorry? Not not him, He's listened at two, right,
- 27:23Yeah. Andy Grant was listened as three as not even an or. Defensive
- 27:32depth chart real quick, Ty Robinson and Blaze Gunnerson li says defensive end.
- 27:38Cameron Lenhart and Kay Wallen also there, Nash hut Maker and Roe Kuwan Buckley
- 27:45at defensive tackle. Luke Rhymer, John Bullock, Nick Henrich, Javin Wright
- 27:52listened at linebacker, cheap Boarders MJ. Sherman, Jamari Butler at jack,
- 27:56Quentin Knewsom Tommy Hill made the big return to defense. Cornerback Isaac Gifford and
- 28:03Fallen Sanford Phelan I don't know at rover safety, Omar Brown, Kobe Brett's,
- 28:10Deshaan Singleton, Corey Collier and Malcolm Hertzog and Dwight Boodle at cornerback.
- 28:18I don't nothing surprising I think on the defensive side. Besides, I love
- 28:23that we have a position called the jack. Yes, I couldn't tell you
- 28:26what the jack does on the three three five. But there's a jack position.
- 28:30Well, they trying to remember what they called it at Syracuse. They
- 28:33have a special name for at Syracuse. Uh, penalty kicker Tristan Albano,
- 28:41Timmy Bleak Bleak Road, a penalty kicker. What yeah is that what I
- 28:47said? Yeah? Place kicker, place kicker. Okay, a penalty kick.
- 28:53Penalty kicker Tristan Albano an Timmy Bleak Road, both listed as star.
- 29:00Who's kicking? Who's kicking our first one? I think so too? Is
- 29:04that Omaha kid? Yeah? Yeah, ye? Punter kick off? Older?
- 29:12Who we want to see returning kicks? So they have Emmett Johnson and
- 29:18Ramier Johnson for kick and Billy Kemper punt return. Put Tommy Hill back there.
- 29:22I want to see Tommy Hill. I want to see Tommy Hill ross.
- 29:30All right, we better get to our keys here, uh three each,
- 29:33And these keys are key's the winning the game, I guess. But
- 29:41if winning is not in question, then their keys for us to play.
- 29:45Well, we'll leave it at that. This game, I think they're a
- 29:48chance we can win this game. And it's not a high one, but
- 29:53it's there. So my first key is the element of surprise. What is
- 30:02that going to be? And we have guys, if we want to win
- 30:06this game, we can't come out and run a basic to tight end up
- 30:12the middle. Like we can't do a basic offense. It's not it's not
- 30:15going to work. We're not good enough to do that. So there has
- 30:18to be something that catches them off guard. I think the option use of
- 30:22that somehow. Could could I think just running Jeff Simms eighteen to twenty two
- 30:29times? Could I think that could be our wow? Like he can he
- 30:32can run defensively, It's obviously has to be the three three five and the
- 30:37way we scheme things up against his offense. It has to be again,
- 30:41something different that they They're not going to have much to prepare on, but
- 30:45something has to work and catch them off guard. That is like my biggest
- 30:48key because we don't know a lot. We don't know a lot neither just
- 30:52Minnesota. So let's make the most of that wall we can now while nobody
- 30:57knows anything and see if we can use that to our advantage. I think
- 31:03that's a good point a lot. When do you go next, Dack,
- 31:10You go look at what we don't even know what, Dax key is it
- 31:15gonna be for Nebraska for Minnesota, right first one, a K forty seven
- 31:22versus Sims, who has a better game, I think I think it's more
- 31:29dependent on Nebraska. Sims has a better game, they win. Yeah,
- 31:33I don't think. I don't think a K forty Salmon has to have a
- 31:36great game for Minnesota to win. I agree. I think mine's gonna be
- 31:47similar to Dax in the sense of just taking care of the ball. I
- 31:52think the turnovers, the way that Minnesota eats up the clock, I expect
- 31:57them to run in a lot, and I don't think if we have too
- 32:00many turnovers is gonna this is gonna be a close match that we can't give
- 32:04them that much extra time because they're gonna eat the clock. So that ties
- 32:09to my second one here of discipline, just being disciplined, and that involves
- 32:16turnovers and penalties. We can't shoot ourselves in the foot and it might happen
- 32:23like a spring game was sloppy, but that's supposed to be. What this
- 32:29staff is going to change from last year's or last staff is stop shooting ourselves
- 32:37in the foot with stupid turnovers, stupid penalties, Like let's use that here.
- 32:40I'm not saying we have to even create turnovers. That'd be nice,
- 32:44and I think we need to get there, but let's not hurt ourselves first
- 32:47before we help ourselves in that aspect and show a little bit of discipline and
- 32:52how we play this good one, all right? For my second one,
- 33:00this for both teams, which which on line is going to dominate the other
- 33:04defensive line the most. Boy, isn't that the key for every Nebraska game
- 33:08in the last three years? Yeah, and usually it's them getting dominated.
- 33:15Yes, it is. That's my number three. I'll just say that now,
- 33:19battle of the trenches. It it's important. It's important. We'll praise
- 33:24it. It's going to be the difference in the game, especially in the
- 33:30game of two teams I think are going to want to run the football in
- 33:32the Big ten West. I agree. My second one is similar. I
- 33:36mean, I think we all think it's gonna be a close game. So
- 33:38I think it's containing the big plays, containing the you know, I'm not
- 33:42saying containing the run, but just don't give up those sixty yard gashes,
- 33:46the twenty yard gashes when it's third down, you know, finishing the finishing
- 33:51the job defensively and just keeping it in front of us. Maybe, you
- 33:54know, limiting like Sue K forty seven doesn't carve us up on his feet,
- 34:02but just limiting the big place, not being disciplined there. It is
- 34:08the foul trenches all there. I'm out, Dak, what's your number three?
- 34:15This one goes out to you because you're gonna be there. Crowd noise,
- 34:20good luck beating Minnesota at home. That place is rocking. It is
- 34:23a Thursday night. They actually can get it. They can get loud.
- 34:30I'm not always loud, but I can. I'm pumped to see how many
- 34:34Nebraska fans are going to be there, because I've heard a lot of people
- 34:37going. I think I think it'll be full and they'll be a lot of
- 34:42Nebraska fans. But nasmy is go to Colorado, right because I think Minnesota
- 34:46is a better fan based than Colorado does. I probably agree with that.
- 34:53They're a sleeping giant. They have five national titles. Yeah they do like
- 34:59the but that's fine. My last last one comes down to the penalty kicks.
- 35:06No the special teams. Though. I think it's like I said,
- 35:07I think it's gonna be close. I think we're gonna it's gonna come down
- 35:13to field goals. So if we can hit our field goals an extra points,
- 35:16that would be pretty swell. I don't like our dances there. All
- 35:20of my all my keys of the game are all the things that ailed us
- 35:22the last couple of years. Is it supposed to be it's supposed to be
- 35:27hotter and held there or eighty eight ninety. I think for kickoff it it'll
- 35:30be. I have a factor good tip for sure score predictions. We will
- 35:37keep track of our total difference from each of our scores each week. So
- 35:46Dad, go first, thirty eight twenty four Minnesota. WHOA, that's a
- 35:52high scoring game. They're online just gonna dominate. I think it'll be close
- 35:59about half time and then they'll just wear him down by the end of game.
- 36:05I got twenty seven twenty Minnesota. I'm going twenty four thirteen Minnesota.
- 36:16Look at you, guys, Minnesota fans. I might not say that it's
- 36:23all picking the go version. Week one not good for the oscars, not
- 36:32good. I'll be pleasantly surprised, though we're pessimistic. Still. We still
- 36:36are not drinking the kool aid yet, the rude aid. All right,
- 36:39we'll be back on Tuesday Day early this week Go Big Read TVR Boomer Sooner.
- 36:49I love that burnt orange dude,
