- 0:00Hello everyone, and welcome to the Random Heathenry Ramblings
- 0:03podcast, where we discuss all sorts of things dramatic
- 0:06Heathenry related. My name is Jesse.
- 0:09I am your host. Let's get into it.
- 0:31Well, hello there. Welcome back everyone to the
- 0:33Random Heathen Ramblings podcast here on wherever you're catching
- 0:38it. Spotify, YouTube.
- 0:41Apple Podcast, Google Podcast. Thank you all so much for being
- 0:45a follower, being a subscriber, and showing your support by up
- 0:48voting, by liking, by commenting, by sharing, by
- 0:51interacting and all the ways that you do.
- 0:53And for writing in calling in. You know, sharing your thoughts
- 0:57and comments sections of the various social media platforms,
- 1:01you guys really help build this show up into what it has become.
- 1:06You know, we got a lot of really interesting takes on on things
- 1:10not, you know, I I wouldn't say that they're 100% or always
- 1:15Heathen centric. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:16Like they're I think a lot of folks who are die hard Recon
- 1:20hardcore Recon Heathens would have a lot to say about.
- 1:24What I do here, but it is random, you know, random being
- 1:28the operative word ramblings of a heathen and sometimes my
- 1:33heathenry branches off into other aspects of spirituality
- 1:38and stuff. And that's what we've been
- 1:40seeing some somewhat lately. If you've been following the
- 1:43podcast and hearing or seeing some of who we've had on here,
- 1:48you'll notice that, you know, we we're we're branching off a
- 1:51little bit. We're we're reaching out a
- 1:53little bit last time. We had Benjamin Davidson who
- 1:57does dream readings or dream interpretations.
- 2:01It's very possible that will be featured on one of his upcoming
- 2:05episodes on his. I think it's the Dreamscapes,
- 2:09but it's his, it's his YouTube channel.
- 2:10But Dreamscapes is is the platform, not the platform.
- 2:14What I'm trying to say the the playlist, there we go, the
- 2:17playlist that his dream interpretations and all that are
- 2:23on, I think. Anyway, check his stuff out.
- 2:26Benjamin the dream wizard, Davidson.
- 2:31But anyways, today's episode is not about Benjamin.
- 2:35We got someone who's also not heathen coming onto the show
- 2:39here in just a moment. His name is David Masano.
- 2:43Believe he is a like a fitness coach.
- 2:47He has some content out. I believe we're going to find
- 2:51out more what his. You know where you can find him,
- 2:54his platforms and all that. I want to say he might also have
- 2:56a podcast. I'm going to confirm that once
- 2:59we get him on here because if he does and you know fitness and
- 3:02all that is, is, is your wheelhouse and you really like
- 3:05to pick someone's brain or or or or see what other people in the
- 3:09fitness circuits are doing. And he's going to be the one to
- 3:13to check out. But the reason why he's going to
- 3:16be on here today is not just about the fitness and and
- 3:19finding you know. Help through fitness and and
- 3:22finding ways to improve our quality of life through fitness.
- 3:25But also his background is a bit of an interesting story and I'm
- 3:30going to wait to elaborate more on that once he gets on here to
- 3:34talk about his background his whole life.
- 3:37I think he is a military veteran, younger guy, but a
- 3:41military veteran nonetheless. He also comes from a pretty
- 3:45large family. I want to say his.
- 3:48Family. He is one of either 8 or 11
- 3:50children and so yeah it was like I I read his bio and and and
- 3:56learned a little bit about him from what information he shares
- 3:59on on his platforms and I thought man this would be a
- 4:03great guy to have come on here. He did reach out to me first.
- 4:07So thank you David for reaching out to to ask about coming on
- 4:11the show because I guess from the description of.
- 4:15What he had seen online about you know what this podcast is
- 4:18about. He he he had some interest in in
- 4:22wanting to to learn a bit more about it.
- 4:24So you know this could be a an interesting podcast, something a
- 4:28little bit different to talk about things again not hidden
- 4:30related but who knows. It is a heathen podcast so we
- 4:34always somehow find a way to get there.
- 4:37So before we get started we do be sure to check the link tree
- 4:41link in the comment or the description area and show notes.

- 5:16So it would be great. We'd greatly appreciate it.
- 5:20So don't don't want to you know waste any more time or delay any
- 5:24further. So joining me today, I'm going
- 5:26to be welcoming in David Masano he's a fitness coach I think.
- 5:31But yes, welcome to the show, David Masano.
- 5:34Let's get into it. All right folks.
- 5:38Well, like I was saying earlier on in the intro, we've got a.
- 5:41A new kind of guest on the show today.
- 5:43We've got David Masano, young gentleman out on the West Coast,
- 5:47who is the the face and the inspiration, I guess behind is
- 5:51it Vinnie Vidi, Vici, is that right?
- 5:54Fitness? Yes.
- 5:56All right, cool. So, David, welcome to the Random
- 5:58Heat and Ramblings podcast. Man, thanks for joining us
- 6:00today. Thanks for having me and thank
- 6:03you. Absolutely.
- 6:05So I think it would be great to just give the people that are
- 6:08watching and listening. A little bit about yourself.
- 6:11You and I talked a little bit before, you know something about
- 6:14your background. But I guess let's start, if you
- 6:17don't mind, with this, this Vinny Vidi vici, I don't know,
- 6:21that's a Latin, if I'm remembering correctly, it means
- 6:24something. Why don't you elaborate?
- 6:26Explain to people. Yeah, so it's actually there's
- 6:29two Latin quotes that really have stuck with me.
- 6:32It's that one which means I came, I saw, I conquered.
- 6:36I'm very adamant about that. When I do, when I do see
- 6:38something. And I want it.
- 6:40I'm going to conquer it. So that's like the whole meaning
- 6:43behind the fitness part, the nutrition and the mindset.
- 6:48The other one is cosito, ergo soon is.
- 6:53I thought, therefore I am, which is also very clear to my heart.
- 6:57So basically, like that's what my teaching is around.
- 7:01Basically we go from changing up your nutrition and you're
- 7:06working out. And sometimes we don't even
- 7:08change and or add any type of workouts into your nutrition.
- 7:12Because if you think of it, when people are super overweight,
- 7:16like tons and tons of pounds on them, like 300 pounds, you think
- 7:19they're going to want to go to the gym.
- 7:20No. So why would you send somebody
- 7:23to the gym when they don't want to go?
- 7:25Why not make it easier? That's why a lot of these
- 7:28fitness gurus are just like, I don't.
- 7:32I think they understand what they're doing.
- 7:33Sometimes it's don't go to the gym.
- 7:35If you're 300 pounds, start with your nutrition and sometimes you
- 7:39could do nutrition with them and they never even go to the gym
- 7:41and get in better shape than most people.
- 7:44And that's what I try to do, is try to show people how simple
- 7:49and it can be, how simple it could be to just go to the gym.
- 7:54My main thing too is that I show people to have fun with it.
- 7:57I had a client, actually, my biggest result.
- 8:01I had with the client was I had him show up at the gym and as
- 8:06soon as he showed up the rule was he had to leave.
- 8:08And he did that for three months and lost £45.00 because sooner
- 8:12or later he started wanting to work out.
- 8:14So it's all about incorporating habits, incorporating things
- 8:19into the program of our subconscious and when you start
- 8:22to program you can't change yourself with the same self that
- 8:27you are. That's it's almost impossible to
- 8:29do, It's like drug withdrawal. So you have to learn how to do
- 8:33things that will change and alter you that you can't see.
- 8:37And that's what a coach is for. So that's kind of what I I build
- 8:40my things around. Like people think, oh, you need
- 8:42to cut out this candy. You need to cut out all this bad
- 8:45processed food and it's like, no, you don't.
- 8:48There's a few tweaks that you need to make from that.
- 8:51Maybe eat less of that, but you can still eat it.
- 8:55I see. So you seem to have a pretty
- 8:57lighthanded approach. With a strong vision in mind,
- 9:01you know, it's not all just gung ho running their guns blazing,
- 9:04you know, let's see how much we can lift that sort of thing.
- 9:08Unless they want to. It all depends and I make
- 9:11everyone take a test before I when I get on that call with
- 9:15them, I have to really understand who I'm working with.
- 9:18So if it's somebody that's like. I need to lose this weight
- 9:23because I'm addicted or I need to get away from this vice and I
- 9:27need to change. I need to make a new habit.
- 9:29I want to try out the gym or my relationship with my family or a
- 9:34divorce is going to happen. Or I'm going to lose my business
- 9:37or job because I mostly work with business owners.
- 9:40That's my main focus is I work with family, business owners
- 9:44and. Usually it's people that are
- 9:46overweight that don't have enough energy to actually go
- 9:49through the day and work on their business.
- 9:51Or people that are struggling to keep their family life
- 9:54incorporated with their business and it's soon to be a divorce or
- 9:59their children don't. They don't get enough time with
- 10:01their children. And that's where my job comes in
- 10:03is. I teach them how to incorporate
- 10:06a little bit of gym, how to incorporate a little bit of
- 10:09nutrition and make little tweaks to change their physique.
- 10:13Which changes their metabolism, which changes how they feel,
- 10:16which changes how they think about themselves when they look
- 10:18in the mirror. And all these little domino
- 10:21effects change who they are. And like I said, it depends on
- 10:25who the person is. So if their why is like, oh, I
- 10:27need to do this or I'm going to die, we start hitting it pretty
- 10:31hard. Whereas it's like, oh, if I just
- 10:33want to try this out, we'll hit it out and they'll see who I'm
- 10:36about and what I'm about and then we start upping it as time
- 10:39goes on. I like that.
- 10:42So you kind of tailor it to the client, you know what I mean?
- 10:44It's not a textbook, every one-size-fits-all sort of
- 10:47approach they tailored. That's The thing is I think a
- 10:51lot of coaches today think, oh, you need to do it my way because
- 10:54my way worked. But that's not the point of
- 10:57coaching. If you ever and I've had
- 10:59multiple mentors. I'm on my third mentor now and
- 11:02I've paid a lot of people or a lot of money to work personally
- 11:05with experts and. That's the key to success.
- 11:10People want to ask what the fast lane to wealth in and success.
- 11:14It's by somebody that's already where you're at.
- 11:16That's that's how you do it. Work with somebody that you're
- 11:19already that's already where you're at or where you want.
- 11:22To be. Yes, and then you'll get there a
- 11:25lot faster. But my key thing is that I've
- 11:28learned from all my mentors is they don't.
- 11:31It's none of their stuff. Like they don't use any of what
- 11:34they've done. On me, they show me what I'm
- 11:38strong at and then they show me how to incorporate that and make
- 11:42it a lifestyle. And that's what I show people is
- 11:46like, we need to make this a lifestyle.
- 11:49What's the easiest way to make this a lifestyle?
- 11:52Okay. If we make a three to 10% change
- 11:55within ourselves every week, what is that going to look like?
- 11:59And we're going to make, we're going to, I'm going to ask them
- 12:01that question. Okay.
- 12:03What is one thing that you know you can do this week that's easy
- 12:07and simple that will move the needle this week.
- 12:11And I that's that's what I'm here for.
- 12:13I'm here to guide you. I'm here to simply show you
- 12:16that. Okay.
- 12:17Perfect. This is how we're going to do
- 12:18that. This is how we can achieve that
- 12:20and all slowly. It's almost like a therapist.
- 12:23The therapist asked you these different questions and then you
- 12:26finally find the solution. That's what I am.
- 12:28It's because so many, so many people thinking these these.
- 12:32Limited mindsets like I can't get there.
- 12:34I'm too fat, I don't know what I'm doing, things like that.
- 12:37And then my job is to break through that barrier to let them
- 12:41understand, no, you do know what you need to do, and this is how
- 12:44we're going to do it. And we slowly break down those
- 12:46barriers. Then sooner or later, 345
- 12:49months, these people are. Peak level of fitness, that's so
- 12:54easy to make a lifestyle. They don't go to the gym any
- 12:57longer. I've never had a client that
- 12:58went to the gym longer for than 35 minutes a day for five days a
- 13:02week, sometimes only three days a week.
- 13:04And I've never had them cut out candy, I never had them cut out
- 13:09processed food, none of that stuff.
- 13:11You can still eat that. We focus on one goal and one
- 13:15goal only and we get. I give them a calorie count and
- 13:18the only thing we focus on in that calorie count is protein.
- 13:22So let's say I give them a 2200 calorie Macro nutrient plan and
- 13:28then in that calorie plan you have to get 180 grams of
- 13:32protein. Protein is not is it is not a
- 13:35dense, calorie dense food. So let's say you eat your 180
- 13:41grams of protein and that only took up about 1200 calories for
- 13:46the day. You now have almost 1000
- 13:50calories left to eat. So what can you do?
- 13:53You just backfill that you can eat candy, but just make sure
- 13:57you just stay in the calorie count.
- 13:59You can eat all that unhealthy food, but make sure you get your
- 14:02protein intake. You know what I'm saying?
- 14:04So we don't focus on fat, we don't focus on carbs, we focus
- 14:07on your protein and then you can backfill from there.
- 14:11Do you think that you know being so?
- 14:15I guess like lean. I don't say lenient because I
- 14:17know there's structure and and I know that there's like a plan in
- 14:20place, but. But I'm what I'm getting from
- 14:22you is, is, you know you're not like so rigid I guess with it.
- 14:26You know like there's again, everything's tailored to the
- 14:28person. But do you think that when
- 14:30people start to take control of their fitness and their Wellness
- 14:36and their health and they start realizing that yeah, I can eat
- 14:39some of these things. Do you think that eventually
- 14:41like the mind kicks over and is like, but I don't need that
- 14:44crap. I don't need that process junk I
- 14:46can do. I can fill the those gaps.
- 14:48I can fill that. Caloric intake with better
- 14:52quality things versus just something to fill a space.
- 14:56Does that happen for you with your clients and?
- 14:59Not only so, everything that I've teach my clients is what
- 15:02I've done. Anything that I tell my client
- 15:04I've never, It's not something that I haven't done before.
- 15:08So I've tried so many diets. My key thing is I go around
- 15:13trying new diets to give the exact experience of what it's
- 15:17truly like. This recent diet that I've been
- 15:20on, I I'm actually working out towards something.
- 15:24It started out as a 12 hour fast with a what was it keto?
- 15:32So it was a 12 hour fast with keto.
- 15:35And that's what I did. It was just keto and a 12 hour
- 15:37fast. Very simple.
- 15:39I had a calorie deficit. But with keto you are able to
- 15:43retain more fat. So it's it's a lot more fat.
- 15:46Which the way it works is truly amazing and I know a lot of
- 15:49people hate keto, but if. You I've messed around with it.
- 15:53Yeah, the key thing, the thing that I liked the most about it
- 15:57was the mental. The mental clarity that I had
- 16:00with it. I felt so mentally clear.
- 16:04The difference though, I didn't like it at the start because it
- 16:08was the withdrawals were were real at the start, but once you
- 16:12get past the withdrawal part. It's it's different.
- 16:16You start to feel good. You're mentally clear.
- 16:19You don't and the the key thing about keto is you're trying to
- 16:23keep control of your your insulin and glycogen levels
- 16:27which is your energy level and basically when you have carbs it
- 16:31usually spikes but there's ways to work around with that like
- 16:34athletes need carbs so it's different but.
- 16:38When you're on keto, basically you never, your insulin levels
- 16:42are not fluctuating because you have no carbs in you.
- 16:45So it's just really high fat and really high protein.
- 16:48But the proteins are a lot leaner, it's more so a lot of
- 16:51fat, which helps you just slim down.
- 16:55And I've had the the most amazing transformation I had was
- 16:59a lady that lost £100 in a year. Never like she went from fat to
- 17:03skinny extremely fast. And it was.
- 17:06It made me cry. It was crazy because she not.
- 17:09That wasn't the only thing that changed.
- 17:11Her relationship changed. She got a new job.
- 17:14She became closer with their family.
- 17:16And that's that's what I go for. I you're going to look good
- 17:19either way. But when you look good and feel
- 17:21good and think better, everything else in your life is
- 17:23going to be better. But.
- 17:26He thing with like I just started, I got into the
- 17:29carnivore diet. I don't know if you know the
- 17:32cardboard diet, it's very, very simple and it's it's based off
- 17:36of like a northern Icelandic diet and all way back in the
- 17:44day. So it you can have fruit.
- 17:46The more extremist with the diet, they don't.
- 17:49It's literally all it is is meat, salt and water.
- 17:53That's all you can have. But that you can eat whatever
- 17:56you want so you basically eat intuitively.
- 18:00And the crazy thing is, you'll lose tons of weight because
- 18:04protein keeps you fuller and you get a lot of fat.
- 18:07Oh, you can eat butter too. So the other you need to eat
- 18:10butter with it to get enough fat.
- 18:13Because now you're fat. Your source of energy is coming
- 18:16from fat. From.
- 18:17Fat Exactly. You can eat whatever you want on
- 18:21the diet and I lost £2.00 like I didn't have much to lose, but I
- 18:26was 178 pounds. I lost £2.00 in two weeks.
- 18:30And lost almost. I was 6% body fat when I
- 18:33started. I lost another percent of body
- 18:35fat, eating way more calories than I was actually eating on
- 18:40the keto diet. And it was crazy to me, but I'm
- 18:43actually, I I'm a CrossFit athlete too.
- 18:45So I work out a lot because I compete in competitions.
- 18:50But the main thing with with a diet, a lot of people think, oh,
- 18:55I can do this for a month and I'm good.
- 18:58No. Like, you kind of have to get
- 19:00acclimated. Your body has to get acclimated.
- 19:03Like, I put myself through a lot with these different nights to
- 19:06show people exactly what happened.
- 19:08Instead of just giving him this number and these different,
- 19:12these different analytics, I show them what it's exactly like
- 19:16and I give him real feedback. This is what happens.
- 19:19This is how I feel. I made a lot of mess ups, like
- 19:22when I first started the Carnivore.
- 19:23I tried to get off of caffeine at the exact same time, which
- 19:26was a huge mistake. You don't want to withdraw from
- 19:30caffeine the same time you're changing your diet.
- 19:32It. Really messed up your chemicals,
- 19:35your hormones. I tell you, I did something one
- 19:37time not to and I'll let you continue, but just to insert
- 19:40something here, I did something one time.
- 19:42It was like a total body cleanse plan.
- 19:45It was like it was a 21 day long program.
- 19:49And there were supplements and stuff that they you know so you
- 19:52buy this kit. Beach body I think was the name
- 19:54of I don't know if you ever heard of it, okay but they send
- 19:58you like supplements and and and you know it I hated it.
- 20:02I was I was miserable for you know two week throughout 3 weeks
- 20:06basically I lost like £15.00 but but it wasn't sustainable and
- 20:12that's what that's what I always get.
- 20:13I'm like this is it. It was great I guess for just
- 20:16like if you wanted to I don't know do like a hard reset.
- 20:19On your body. Like, because it cuts
- 20:20everything. Eventually it cuts everything
- 20:22out. Like, I stopped drinking
- 20:23alcohol, no caffeine, no other stimulants like tobacco.
- 20:27So you know, vaping, Nothing like that.
- 20:29I mean, I pretty much like changed my diet overnight and
- 20:35took out all of the other extracurricular components to my
- 20:38life, and I guess I got used to it at some point.
- 20:42But I was like, I can't wait for this this fucking thing to be
- 20:44over. Because it was, it was like, it
- 20:46just. It felts like a chore, you know
- 20:48what I mean? And I, I don't know how you've
- 20:50encountered with people that probably come to you having done
- 20:53other diet plans and stuff and they're like, I don't want this
- 20:57to be another fad. Or, you know, it's just
- 20:59something that I start overnight and you'll start one day and
- 21:03then, you know, a week or so later, I'm, I'm burnt out on it,
- 21:07right. Yeah, that's that's that's the
- 21:09key is a lot of these gurus now they're like do it my way and.
- 21:15I I joined a group and that's kind of how it is.
- 21:19Like, excuse my language, but they'll just say, oh, you're
- 21:22just being a bitch. Like, you know, it's you're not
- 21:25man enough or you're not disciplined enough or you don't
- 21:27want it bad enough. And yes, you can say that, you
- 21:30can say that, but realistically, is that what we're going for?
- 21:33Like is that what we want to be known for?
- 21:36Like what? You can definitely put pressure
- 21:39on them. There's definitely clients where
- 21:42it's like okay, this is what we're gonna work on this week.
- 21:45I always make small implementations like for example
- 21:49if I were get if somebody came up to me right now and they had.
- 21:56Like candy addiction. They drunk 6 beers a night, they
- 22:00drunk a six pack, they drunk tons of alcohol and barely any
- 22:05really healthy food and all of it was like top ramen, things
- 22:09like that. The first thing and they don't
- 22:12work out. The first thing I'm going to do
- 22:14is not tell them cut all the drinking out.
- 22:17It's it's it's slow. Withdrawals want to remember
- 22:21three to 10% depending on where they're at, Like, if they want
- 22:25to, if they say, hey, like my relationships going in the
- 22:29gutter and I'm about to lose my wife, I need to get in shape and
- 22:32stop doing this stuff. We're going to be a little more
- 22:34extreme. Where is there?
- 22:37Like, I just want to see if this will work.
- 22:39I heard that you know what you're doing, OK Like we're
- 22:42going to change what's one thing that you know that you can do?
- 22:47This week. That'll change for you.
- 22:49Okay, You drink all this alcohol.
- 22:51Let's just cut back a little bit and drink more water.
- 22:54Then by the end of the week, let's see how you feel.
- 22:57I want you to tell me how you feel.
- 22:59Oh, you feel better. Perfect.
- 23:01Okay, now you're sleeping better too.
- 23:03Oh, even better. Like now we're seeing it's it's
- 23:06wins. You got to you got to accumulate
- 23:09all these little wins. And sooner or later you're going
- 23:11to start thinking clear, feeling better, sleeping better, and all
- 23:15this little stuff. You're going to be like, oh, I
- 23:18don't. I don't want to go back to that
- 23:19other stuff. That's what happened to me when
- 23:21I first got into fitness and nutrition.
- 23:23I was addicted to weed. I wouldn't even say I don't even
- 23:26think you could get addicted to weed.
- 23:29But yeah, I was smoked a lot of weed.
- 23:31I drunk alcohol. These were my vices.
- 23:34But I love people that come to me.
- 23:38That have an emotional attachment to food.
- 23:41Why? Because that was me.
- 23:44And when you learn to go inside of yourself and deal with the
- 23:47true problem of why am I actually eating all this food,
- 23:52then you start to understand why like what you need to change.
- 23:57For me, I always had this an emotional attachment.
- 24:00I was bullied when I was a kid. So my biggest thing was I wanted
- 24:03to get big and strong so no one would ever mess with me again.
- 24:06And that's. I look like this big jacked 185
- 24:09pound dude and no one will mess with me, you know, that's that
- 24:12was what I wanted to go. But then when I when I'm around
- 24:15food that grew up so much in me that I needed to eat and eat and
- 24:20eat because I was just a skinny kid when I first when I was
- 24:22getting bullied. And then when I started packing
- 24:25on muscle, I had to eat and eat and eat and eat.
- 24:27And then I made myself feel bad that when I didn't eat because
- 24:31then I was going to be like, I'm getting, going to get bullied.
- 24:34Then it became a subconscious thing that I was unconsciously
- 24:37eating all this food, that whenever food was next to me, I
- 24:40just start munching on food and it made me a sensation of
- 24:44feeling better. But when you start to become
- 24:46conscious about these things, they get a lot easier to deal
- 24:49with. But it's little small
- 24:52implementations you change. Like when I did this carnivore
- 24:55diet, the first week was the hardest, but then I started
- 24:59incorporating just eating. Just let my body intuitively
- 25:03tell me when I'm full and protein makes you fuller a lot
- 25:07faster and I got even more shredded than I was.
- 25:11I'm at about 5% body fat but even more shredded than I was on
- 25:15a normal diet. And I feel the biggest thing is
- 25:19my energy levels, excuse me, are peaked like I've never felt
- 25:24better. And on top of that, my my
- 25:27performance in the gym has went up.
- 25:29I feel mentally clear and I love it.
- 25:32But the next part I'm going into what is called an OMAD.
- 25:36I don't know if you know it, the OMAD diet.
- 25:39But I don't think I've heard of that.
- 25:41One, it's like the last part of the diet.
- 25:43It's it's not extreme, but it takes a while to get used to.
- 25:50They a lot of, I've heard a lot of people that do these, and
- 25:52they most of them are monks. A lot of them are monks.
- 25:56But there are elite athletes that do this too.
- 26:01The omad diet is basically you only one meal a day, but it's a
- 26:05ginormous meal. Like it's yeah and you all.
- 26:09Your calories for the day, Yes. Oh wow.
- 26:11But it's it's a massive meal. Like, it's a very, very big
- 26:15meal. And then you fast for the rest
- 26:17of the day. And basically the first week
- 26:22I've always, from what I've known and seeing the different
- 26:25experts that have done it in the different most of them, like I
- 26:28said, are people that live in the forest, people that are
- 26:31monks, people that are very extreme athletes and those are
- 26:35the ones on this type of diet. But the OMAD diet is like it's
- 26:40next level. A lot of people think that or a
- 26:42lot of people say how they start to feel after a month of just
- 26:46being on it. And what it does to their body
- 26:49and not only their body, what they start to do to get away.
- 26:52Like they get away from that sensation of trying to eat food.
- 26:55But would I throw somebody on the OMAD diet right away?
- 26:59Definitely not. Like yeah, not not happening
- 27:02ever. Unless like of course you've
- 27:04practiced this because it's like it's literally like a 23 hour
- 27:08fast and they just gorge on food.
- 27:11And then you go straight back into it.
- 27:14And the the reason why you gorge on food at night is because you
- 27:18gorge on so much food that you just knock out and then go to
- 27:22sleep very full wake up the first the first week they say
- 27:26you wake up extremely hungry all the time, but it's just little
- 27:31little increments that you make towards success.
- 27:34Yeah, yeah. Trying different things and that
- 27:37almost sounds like. Like maybe what would have been
- 27:41more of a a primal way of life, You know, because if you think
- 27:45about just what we have access to as a, as a, you know, modern
- 27:49humanity, I mean, everything is so readily available.
- 27:52You're hungry, you can open up your fridge or open up your
- 27:55cabinet, your pantry, go to the store, drive through a fast food
- 27:59place. I mean, everything is so easily
- 28:01accessible. Whereas, you know, not even all
- 28:04that long ago, you know, the. Families had to you know, cook
- 28:09and prepare their meals or grow their own foods if they wanted
- 28:12to eat. It wasn't, it wasn't like I'm
- 28:14hungry. Let's just open up the the ice
- 28:16box or the freezer and and cook something.
- 28:18It was if you were hungry you had to go catch it or go pick it
- 28:21out of your garden or go to your root cellar where things were
- 28:24stored during the non growth seasons, right.
- 28:27The winter, the leaner months and and and prepare something,
- 28:30everything. You had to work for it and I
- 28:32think that. Now here and today in in modern
- 28:35times is you know a lot of people become so complacent.
- 28:37I mean we're all guilty of it. I'm not I'm not trying to say
- 28:39like I'm better than you because I've got to do the same thing
- 28:42you know oh I'm hungry open up the fridge see what's in there.
- 28:45But I've also grown up in a in a with a lifestyle that you know I
- 28:49I worked on a farm for over a decade.
- 28:51I everybody in our family or in A and and friends had gardens
- 28:57you know what I mean? So I grew up around the the idea
- 29:00of living off of the land growing raising harvesting.
- 29:04Your own food and it it's so enriching and it's so
- 29:07fulfilling, kind of like how you go when you work out, right?
- 29:10You're you're exerting physical effort and you feel better about
- 29:16the meal that you're about to eat or that you have eaten
- 29:19because I earned this, you know, it gives me the energy, the fuel
- 29:22to want to go and put it to use, you know?
- 29:25And that's what I like about how fitness can can overall help us.
- 29:29Holistically, right. It's not just how good we look
- 29:31or the physical things that we're capable of doing.
- 29:33When we embrace that, it's everything benefits.
- 29:37Again, you have a clearer mind you.
- 29:38You have a better outlook on life.
- 29:40Depression doesn't affect so many people that are focused on
- 29:46on health and Wellness. You know, because why they're
- 29:48they're feeding their body. They're they're feeding this
- 29:50machine with quality things, with good things.
- 29:53And so the machine runs better every in and out, inside and
- 29:56out, right. And that's that.
- 29:58A lot of people think that fitness is to to look better.
- 30:03There's scientific proof that after you work out, there's
- 30:05serotonin, Serotonin. Really.
- 30:08Inside of your body. That and people do not like,
- 30:12listen to this. Like this is the number one
- 30:14thing why people actually like become gym racks.
- 30:19It's not because they enjoy doing it, it's the feeling
- 30:24they're after. Yeah, like there's a lot of
- 30:26people that go to the gym, like you might think they're happy.
- 30:29Like these people that do Iron Mans and these people that do
- 30:33these different crazy fleets of marathons and triathlons, That
- 30:38is, you have something deep you're dealing with and that's
- 30:41how they deal with it. And I've, I've known a lot of,
- 30:45like there's a lady I've, I don't remember off the top of my
- 30:48head what her name is, but she runs triathlons and eats
- 30:53whatever she wants. But I mean, you can do that when
- 30:55you're a triathlon runner. Like you're burning through,
- 30:58yeah. Yeah, she eats whatever.
- 31:00She drinks beer, eats what you can do that.
- 31:03But you look at her and she looks like a normal person.
- 31:07She enjoys eating, she enjoys having fun, she goes out, she
- 31:11enjoys life. But when you watch her work out,
- 31:14she has a demon inside of her, like definitely tormenting her.
- 31:19And that's what people don't understand like.
- 31:22A lot of people's lives, like, I had stopped working out for a
- 31:25while and I realized I couldn't hold that up.
- 31:27Like, you kind of get addicted to the feeling of actually
- 31:31working out. Because like, every day I try to
- 31:34put this message out there, like I will make your workout fun, I
- 31:38will make them interesting. You don't have to be there long.
- 31:42My goal is to get you in the gym, get you out of the gym,
- 31:45make you feel good, and you go and conquer that day.
- 31:49I go, I could be like having a bad mood, be in a bad mood.
- 31:53I go touch some weight, man, let's, let's go have a party
- 31:57like this is the best. Why is that serotonin chemical
- 32:01release in your body and it just lights you up.
- 32:05And that's what people don't understand.
- 32:06They think, oh, like these people are just working out just
- 32:09to look good. That's not at all true.
- 32:11Like byproduct of it, it's a yeah, I mean it happens, so
- 32:15yeah. It's like a nice, exactly.
- 32:16But even, like in the Viking days, like.
- 32:19Those people, the Romans, like the great athletes.
- 32:22When they worked out like that, they got addicted to it, like
- 32:25that was their way of getting away because you actually feel.
- 32:29Something I've also felt that with with doing any sort of
- 32:35constructive constructive behavior, constructive activity,
- 32:38right. Anything that that you because
- 32:42like let's face it there there is a mental aspect to fitness
- 32:46right. I mean you're you're.
- 32:49Calculating, you know reps you're doing things like you're
- 32:52counting like I'm saying like there's cognitive things going
- 32:55on in your mind. But anything like that, whether
- 32:58it's gardening, whether it's hiking any any sort of physical
- 33:01activity, right? Doesn't even have to be going to
- 33:03the gym per se, but it does it it it releases those feel good.
- 33:08You know that though, that your dopamine levels rise.
- 33:11Is that serotonin's release that you feel overall just.
- 33:14Better about things and I you know I've I've worked out not
- 33:17recently but I I used to be as a kid I was I I I had a propensity
- 33:22to just be a little pudgy. And my uncle at the time you
- 33:27know he was like come with weights with me and you know he
- 33:31had like a gym in his in his house and he also had a
- 33:34membership but we would work out in his basement and he
- 33:37eventually has like he had gotten to the point where he had
- 33:40like a full. Gym in his, in his basement.
- 33:43Man. Like, you know, Smith machines,
- 33:46you know, leg presses, benches, the everything, dumbbells, free
- 33:49weights, just everything. And it was like, come and do
- 33:54this with me. And that's when I was a kid,
- 33:55man. I'm like, I'm talking like 1314
- 33:57years old maybe. And that's what got me hooked on
- 34:01it and I. I I worked out like I would get
- 34:04up and I would go work on the farm.
- 34:05I'd go to my regular job, which was very physically demanding.
- 34:08And then I would get off work and I would go work out and I
- 34:11look back and I'm like I didn't even need to cuz of from all the
- 34:14work that I was doing on the farm or or at my job.
- 34:17He was all very physically at at you know, demanding work and
- 34:20labor. But something about going to the
- 34:23gym, something about going and and doing it for the fun of it.
- 34:26Not to create something, not to build something, but just to
- 34:30like, I don't know, just. Just do it, you know and it it's
- 34:34like it does something to you. You know I I felt really good
- 34:37about it in course, you know the results of which were I wasn't
- 34:42pledging anymore, right. I was cut.
- 34:44I was ripped. I could lift more weight but for
- 34:47my size than what the the average person would think, you
- 34:51know I was maybe like $1.45 at the time, you know.
- 34:54But I was I was I was lifting you know 3-4 times my weight.
- 34:59Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?
- 35:00And people are like, how is that little squirt able to do that?
- 35:02I'm like just, you know. Yeah, being that.
- 35:07Active. So then, OK, you you grew up on
- 35:10a farm. Did you guys ever eat?
- 35:12Did you guys eat breakfast? Yeah, actually.
- 35:16So it was a beef farm. So we raised beef cattle.
- 35:20And so I we would, I would usually get up like before the
- 35:24sun would come up, you know, So it was really early.
- 35:26I wouldn't eat, then I would go, we would go do our chores.
- 35:30But then we would have a midmorning, like around 8:00 or
- 35:32so, we would stop our chores and and then have something to eat,
- 35:36some some sort of breakfast, you know.
- 35:39And then I would come back home and and feel up for the day.
- 35:42I would have like a second breakfast, if you will.
- 35:45But there was always, yeah, there was always like something
- 35:47there, whether it was, you know, pancakes or whether it was, you
- 35:52know, some kind of whole grain something, you know, something
- 35:54like a like a buckwheat heavy, you know, something really.
- 35:58Sit. Sit heavy with you, but give you
- 35:59that energy. Yeah, to do all that stuff.
- 36:02But yeah, we did. Yeah, that was so the main
- 36:05reason why I crazy question. I asked it because I just like
- 36:09got into this understanding like I fast for a reason.
- 36:13I just don't. I think there's so many
- 36:17scientific researches, not even just scientific, but anybody
- 36:21that actually does fast they they start to realize what it
- 36:25does for you. But even at people that work out
- 36:28when they start to fast, if you were to do just one, I think, I
- 36:32think it's a 19 to 36 hour fast once a week.
- 36:37Your growth hormones triple and jerk that short amount of time
- 36:41and like that was my biggest thing.
- 36:43I know we had just started talking about previously right
- 36:46before that last topic was about the just going out and hunting
- 36:51for your food and getting your stuff.
- 36:53So there's actually people and everyone keeps going to visit
- 36:57them. It's it's all over YouTube, but
- 36:59a lot of very like the that meat eating guy, like primal guy,
- 37:05forget his name. Liver King.
- 37:08Yes, liver. Ryan Johnson went out there.
- 37:10Yeah. The modern day primitive tribes
- 37:12in like Africa or or South America and different places,
- 37:16yeah. And if if you see what they do
- 37:18like, it's literally like there was a I think his name is David
- 37:22Chu. I was listening to the Joe Rogan
- 37:25podcast and he said he had went out there to go live with them
- 37:27for a while and what he found out was just how simple their
- 37:32life was, like, they would wake up.
- 37:35And I'm not saying that I want to do that or any like, but if
- 37:39that's that's what you want to do, go try it.
- 37:40I love trying new things. That's my thing.
- 37:43I want to try it out for myself, see if it's true.
- 37:46But he was just talking about how simple their life was.
- 37:48They had the first week he went through like withdrawal, like
- 37:52with his electronics and just city life and things like that.
- 37:56And then he just came down and just like was very calm, very
- 38:00relaxed the second week. And all they did was just.
- 38:04Run to get their food all morning.
- 38:07They would hunt for their food, come back at night, have a
- 38:10celebration for the food the men caught and eat and then go to
- 38:13sleep and do it all over again. And it was like, man like,
- 38:17that's crazy. But not only that, like a lot of
- 38:21people that have gone out there are scientists, and not only
- 38:23scientists but athletes have gone out there.
- 38:26And they talk about the athletic performance and the the physical
- 38:30structure of these people and all they eat is it's meat, honey
- 38:35and I think fruits and that's literally like the carnivore
- 38:38diet. Like the carnivore diet is
- 38:40basically to it's animal products, but it's to replicate
- 38:44how it used to be back in the day.
- 38:45Like they they ate mostly meat because that was all that was
- 38:49there. And then during certain seasons
- 38:51of the the year you would get fruits and stuff from berries
- 38:54and things like that. So, but if you see these people
- 38:58like, they're ripped. Just the most.
- 39:02Ripped black people like they're massive, like the most athletic
- 39:07people I've ever seen. Like they're better than a lot
- 39:10of them. They had did like some studies
- 39:13on their vertical jumps and some of them have 60 just standing in
- 39:18place. It's almost like a 5060 inch
- 39:21vertical jump. On top of that, they they just
- 39:24climb trees like monkeys. They have different like things
- 39:28inside of their they have different.
- 39:30I forget what it was, but it's like some biomes in their body
- 39:34that they're able to go and grab honey from the bees and when the
- 39:38bees sting them, nothing. They don't feel it, yeah.
- 39:41And it's like they're ripped, jacked, all that stuff.
- 39:44And it's like, that was what really made me go in the the
- 39:47carnivore die, I'm like. And it I And the other thing was
- 39:51that I'm a big fan of Jordan Peterson.
- 39:54And he talked about the different things, the different
- 39:57health defects that I had on him.
- 39:59I had a few two of the biggest things, three of the biggest
- 40:04things that I noticed when I went on the carnivore was after
- 40:07the first week. I had a thief that I had been
- 40:09dealing with for almost a year now.
- 40:12And it was in my it was in my neck.
- 40:14It wasn't cancer or anything. It was just a cyst.
- 40:17That disappeared. That was the first thing I
- 40:19noticed. After a week.
- 40:21It disappeared. The other thing I had like a
- 40:24small back pain for years now that went away for after and
- 40:29I've only been on it for three weeks, but I always usually feel
- 40:32it during my workouts. I haven't felt nothing.
- 40:36On top of that, my energy and mood levels have never been
- 40:38better. I've never.
- 40:40I stopped taking caffeine after the first week.
- 40:42I was very acclimated to it and I didn't feel like I needed it.
- 40:46Do I still have it once in a while?
- 40:47Yeah, I I do it like once or twice a week.
- 40:51Kind of an enjoyable thing, yeah.
- 40:53Like, just for sure, Yeah. But that's like that was like
- 40:56the key thing is like, that's why I try it.
- 40:59And then even with the OMAD, that's the next level thing I
- 41:01want to really see and give people feedback of what it
- 41:04really is because. Yeah.
- 41:05I mean we keep having these certifications or these
- 41:07scientists tell us this is you shouldn't do this because of
- 41:10research. But I feel like until you really
- 41:13understanding, you try it out and I understand that some
- 41:16things you can't try out, you're not really going to know how it
- 41:19feels or what it does for your body, you know.
- 41:22So I that's like my main goal is I.
- 41:25Everything that I tell people and everything that I give to
- 41:27people I've experienced and try to go through with the fullest.
- 41:31And whenever I go on a diet I try it like even the carnivore.
- 41:35It should last at least six months just to get the full
- 41:38effect and give a good example of what it's like.
- 41:41But and a lot of people say ohh like you can't sustain a no carb
- 41:46diet like that because it's zero carbs in your diet.
- 41:49It's all protein and all fat and.
- 41:52People are like oh like there's unique carbs for energy.
- 41:56Beg to differ. I've I thought I was going to
- 41:59crash. That was my first thought is
- 42:01like I was going to be slumped. The first day I felt massive
- 42:05fatigue. The second day it all went away.
- 42:08And then after that I just never really felt anything.
- 42:12And then a lot of people say oh like your gut's going to get
- 42:15messed up. My blood results came back
- 42:17actually better than they were before I started it.
- 42:20And it was it was crazy just to see these little effects and
- 42:23being able to try out all this stuff.
- 42:25Yeah. You're like a walk in testimony,
- 42:27you know, and then you can pass on that to your clients, which I
- 42:30do want to mention or give you a chance to mention.
- 42:33You know, you're talking about all these great things that
- 42:35you've experienced and that you use this to help others.
- 42:39How do you do that? I mean, so like for people that
- 42:42want to, you know, follow you or I'm assuming you have a social
- 42:46media platform or platforms that you.
- 42:49Share all this stuff on or journal it.
- 42:53How do people get in touch with you for this, Or where can
- 42:55people find you? Yeah, so I'm mostly biggest on
- 43:00Instagram, Still building in Facebook, still building in
- 43:03TikTok. I run mostly everything out of
- 43:07Instagram though. That's where I communicate
- 43:10people can find all my information.
- 43:12All on Instagram. It's on Facebook and TikTok too.
- 43:15But my Instagram is David under score Masano, one of 18.
- 43:21My Facebook. You can just look me up as David
- 43:24Masano and then my TikTok is going to be cosito ergo sum.
- 43:30Fitness and that's what I go by on TikTok and I'll have that all
- 43:35given to you as well. Yeah, it's gonna be linked and
- 43:37stuff. You know, I always like to give
- 43:39my guests the chance to kind of plug their stuff.
- 43:41And you know, for folks listening and watching, you
- 43:44know, as as usual, it'll be LinkedIn, the show notes in the
- 43:48description. So, you know, we've been talking
- 43:51a lot about the what, You know what I mean, like what you do.
- 43:56We got into a little bit of an idea of.
- 43:58Of the how you know and and going through things, let's talk
- 44:02a bit about why. Why fitness?
- 44:06Why wealth or health and Wellness?
- 44:08What got you to this point in your life to want to pursue this
- 44:12as a career. Really.
- 44:15I mean, you you, you're taking this really seriously.
- 44:17You're not just casual about it. So what?
- 44:19But let's get into the why? What brought you there?
- 44:20Why? Why are you doing this?
- 44:22Yeah, it's it's such a such a deep question and it hits home
- 44:26for me because. I had started this journey when
- 44:29I was young. I when I was 14, I was actually
- 44:33a suicide attempt. I just didn't find any meaning.
- 44:37And I know that sounds very young and it was young, but I
- 44:41started to become more conscious and understanding of life.
- 44:44I grew up in a cult religion with a very big family, 18
- 44:48brothers and sisters. 18 Yeah, See, I thought it was something
- 44:52I I read your Bible one time, but I.
- 44:55Like before you came on and I'm like, I think he's a family of
- 44:58it's like 8 or 11. I mean 18.
- 45:00That's like a tribe dude. Like that's a that's a that's a
- 45:03clan for sure. And there there's so many I will
- 45:07never, ever forget. Like it was the best experience
- 45:10that you could possibly have. Like it's you're around so many
- 45:15different personalities. You're never alone.
- 45:17You cannot be alone. You cannot be alone to yourself.
- 45:21You can't keep quiet. It's there.
- 45:23You're going to be brought out of your shell.
- 45:25And that was one thing that I was thankful for being in that
- 45:30family is now we have each other, you know, like they know
- 45:34me and they know a lot about me. And a lot of what you are when
- 45:37you're young doesn't really leave you unless you really make
- 45:41a a try or or a conscious effort to make a difference of who you
- 45:46were and the things that were brought up in you.
- 45:49So one of the biggest things with that religion that I grew
- 45:51up in. Is it was very a lot of limiting
- 45:54beliefs like you can't be rich if you're rich riches are the
- 45:59root of all evil which totally false.
- 46:02If you don't believe in God or if you don't become a Christian
- 46:06in this religion, you'll go to this fiery depth of hell and
- 46:08die. They're forever being tormented.
- 46:11And these things lingered with me and I never when I was young
- 46:16I was like man, like I don't know if I want to what I wanted
- 46:20to do and I was battling this like.
- 46:23Am I going to really go to hell or can I go and experience life
- 46:26and make a difference because I wanted to make an impact.
- 46:29I knew I was a leader as a young kid.
- 46:32I was always the captain of the football team.
- 46:34I always did the best in the sports.
- 46:36I always gave my all, always did the best in school, straight a
- 46:40student. I gave everything and I always
- 46:42will give everything. But there comes a point where.
- 46:46You start to get something that'll battle with you and you
- 46:49have to battle with something. And at age 14, I started
- 46:51battling with that. I decided to keep going and
- 46:55there became fitness. I found a guy by the name of
- 46:59Nick Best and he started my passion for fitness and he went
- 47:02through the exact same thing. For those that don't know, Nick
- 47:06Best is one of the world's strongest man.
- 47:08He's in the Masters division, which means he's older than 50
- 47:12years old. Has one of these massive duties,
- 47:15like 300 pounds squatting, 800 pounds deadlift over £1000, that
- 47:20type of stuff. Big dude.
- 47:23I met him for the first time when I was starting high school
- 47:27in Las Vegas when I was 17 years old and he turned my whole world
- 47:33around and just the words that he said will always stick with
- 47:36me. He said if I can do it you can
- 47:38too. And when I had started this
- 47:41journey. I decided to give up.
- 47:43I was at 17 years old, I was already smoking weed and
- 47:46drinking like there was. I was already deep into that
- 47:49stuff. But I decided that if I wanted
- 47:52to give that stuff up and have a successful life, I would need to
- 47:56give up that. And the way to give that up, I
- 47:58would have to replace it with something else.
- 48:00And I replaced it with fitness. And fitness became my drug.
- 48:04And when I started working out all the time, I slowly started
- 48:08to see over time what it did for me.
- 48:11And I got to see some amazing fitness people.
- 48:13I seen Matt Martin's leases, which is another World's
- 48:16Strongest Man competitor in person.
- 48:19I got to shake his hand trained at the same Jemison.
- 48:21It was an amazing, amazing experience and I got to meet all
- 48:25these different people. See bum.
- 48:27I got to meet him in person. All these big fitness idols that
- 48:31I, I actually, my mentor is actually Wes Watson.
- 48:34I a lot of you guys might not know him, but he's a big guy.
- 48:38Came out of the penitentiary and now it's just massive 225 pound
- 48:42dude, just straight veins. But that's these are the people
- 48:47I aspire to be like. And one of the things that my
- 48:50mentors told me is to become the person that you admire inside
- 48:55and out and then give him to the world.
- 48:58And fitness has changed my life. He when I first met Wes Watson
- 49:01he had yelled at me multiple times.
- 49:04Like get your shit together. Like stop being a bitch like you
- 49:08need you have. You have this great thing inside
- 49:11of you and you're not giving it to the world.
- 49:14Like, what are you scared of? And that's what the Hero's
- 49:16Journey is. If anyone were to look up the
- 49:19Hero's Journey, there's actually a circle diagram and it goes
- 49:22from the the unknown to the OR the known to the unknown.
- 49:26And the first part of the Hero's journey is a call to adventure.
- 49:32And from the call to adventure you go into, you're still in the
- 49:35known, then you meet a mentor and then that mentor starts to
- 49:40take you into the unknown. And then the under unknown, you
- 49:44start going into trials and tribulations.
- 49:47If a lot of you guys read this book that it's the all it's
- 49:51called Is the Hero with 1000 Faces is actually the true
- 49:54title, A Hero with 1000 Faces. And it's by Joseph Campbell and
- 49:59it'll literally take you down. Into where you're at and your
- 50:04journey. Everyone's in a different spot.
- 50:06Everyone thinks they see these 22 year olds and they see these
- 50:09these rich people and they're like, I need to be there.
- 50:12But no, if you read The Hero's Journey, you'll start to
- 50:15understand that, oh, I'm at this point in my journey and it'll
- 50:19start to enlighten you. Okay, that's everything's
- 50:22happening exactly in this sequence.
- 50:25And that's kind of what he told me to read this book.
- 50:28And he gave me the blueprint and told me to follow it every day
- 50:32and that if I followed it, things would, it would work out
- 50:34for me because of the talents that I had and the true story
- 50:39that I had. But one of the things he taught
- 50:40me to do is to let talk from the heart.
- 50:43There's a gap, you know, There's people that.
- 50:47The gap is basically this is who you are to the outside world and
- 50:51this is who you are truly inside of yourself.
- 50:54And when you close that gap and you're able to give who you are
- 50:57inside of the inside of yourself to the world, then everything
- 51:01you say, it could be the dumbest thing you ever said.
- 51:04People would believe it, but because it's from here and it's
- 51:08aligned and there's no gap and you're not having one thing
- 51:11inside of yourself and another on the outside, they would
- 51:14believe it. Why?
- 51:15Because you're in tune and that that's one of the key things is.
- 51:19And I, I, I might sound passionate about it, but that's
- 51:22truly what it is. I speak from the heart and being
- 51:25coming from the point of of death, one of the biggest things
- 51:29that I learned is you have to you have to kill yourself
- 51:34mentally. You have to be able to kill
- 51:36yourself and be reborn mentally again because all those programs
- 51:41are running inside of yourself. You have your subconscious
- 51:44brain. That is your storage of all the
- 51:45data that you had in your life, and those things that you are
- 51:49emotionally attached with will stick there until you get over
- 51:52it. And that's what The thing is
- 51:54like. People think they need to
- 51:55overcome their thoughts. It's not overcoming the
- 51:57thoughts, it's overcoming the emotion.
- 51:59When you overcome the emotion, the thought will immediately go
- 52:02away because as soon as you stop giving it at that emotional
- 52:06attachment, it has nothing to feed off of anymore.
- 52:09And for me it was, it was the biggest relief.
- 52:12It's like lifting £1000 off of your chest and you start
- 52:16breathing this clear air again, you know?
- 52:18And that was for me, that's, that's what it was.
- 52:21And when I had met my mentor, he took me into the unknown.
- 52:25And that's where you find your journey.
- 52:29It's not where things are lightened when you can see the
- 52:33path. You're probably on somebody
- 52:35else's Rd. You're probably on somebody
- 52:37else's journey following their journey.
- 52:39But when you go to the darkest path and you go to the path
- 52:41where you can't see in front of you, that's your journey.
- 52:44And that's what I chose to do. And fitness has become such an
- 52:48inspiration. When I first started nutrition,
- 52:51I was mentally going through it at that point and I was 20 years
- 52:56old and I didn't. I was fit.
- 52:59I was a CrossFit athlete. I was very fit.
- 53:02Don't get me wrong, I was competing already and I felt
- 53:05really good mentally. I didn't feel really good and I
- 53:08always woke up, worked out, but I always felt like just fatigued
- 53:13and drained. After the workout I couldn't do
- 53:15anything. I needed a nap in the afternoon
- 53:18and then I started to change my nutrition and everything, my
- 53:22mentality about life, the way I worked and all of that stuff.
- 53:26So that's why I'm so passionate and I my goal.
- 53:30Is to become that person. And I live that person every day
- 53:34and I give that person to the world and that's my goal, is to
- 53:38become the person I totally admire inside and out and give
- 53:41him to the world. Yeah, you got to take care of
- 53:44yourself from within. You know, I I used to, I used to
- 53:50do martial arts training in my youth and one of the things
- 53:57that. Our our instructor always said
- 54:01was you train the mind and the body follows but and and and
- 54:07it's it's like well what does that even mean?
- 54:09And and he gave some examples of like Olympic athletes who would
- 54:14not do any sort of physical training prior to an event or
- 54:18something like that. I mean they would obviously but
- 54:21there were times where they'd be like just sitting there relaxing
- 54:24by the pool or or laying in a chair and just chilling.
- 54:27You know, and but in their mind, they're they're going through
- 54:31the course, they're going through the thing that they're
- 54:34about to do. They're mentally lifting those
- 54:36weights. They're mentally skiing through
- 54:39those those courses, they're they're mentally doing the thing
- 54:42and they're preparing themselves internally.
- 54:44And it's been proven that you know you can, you can condition
- 54:49your body to a certain degree by by just the sheer willpower.
- 54:54Of doing it and I've talked about stuff like this on this
- 54:56podcast before about how powerful our minds, how we are
- 55:00our our actual selves. Not this not this physical shell
- 55:04that that people interact with on a you know on on the physical
- 55:08level, but what and who we truly are.
- 55:10We're powerful beings we we are so capable of of doing great
- 55:15things that it's it's it's not fully unlocked for a lot of
- 55:19people. You know that that that journey
- 55:21that you're talking about that. Going into the unknown, there's
- 55:25a lot of that that is very close to my heart and in my own
- 55:29personal practices. Because there there comes a
- 55:31point and I, and it resonates with me, what you were saying
- 55:35about being on someone else's path, if you see the path in
- 55:37front of you, then chances are you're following someone else's.
- 55:41They've already, they've already paved that way for you, right?
- 55:43And and and I think a lot of us, no matter what our path in in
- 55:47life is, whether it's you know, fitness or or spirituality or
- 55:50any other sort of thing, you know, whatever, we're in doing
- 55:53whatever, wherever we are in our journey, yeah, sure, we we need
- 55:57a place to start. We need a place to begin.
- 56:02And and really where we get to learning things is when we go
- 56:06off the beaten path, when we get off those exits and get lost,
- 56:10like purposely. You know in a way like like I I
- 56:13want to get lost out here and and try to find my way back and
- 56:16it there's a way about going it or or there's a way of going
- 56:19about it that's that's better than others.
- 56:21But sometimes people really just like careen off of the off of
- 56:26the path and be like well whatever's going to happen is
- 56:28going to happen and but they're ready for that.
- 56:30They they've like they've mentally prepared themselves for
- 56:33the unknown that that what ifs you know and they take those
- 56:37risks they take those chances. You know, and and without doing
- 56:41that, how how much are we like restricting or limiting
- 56:46ourselves to really unlock our true potentials?
- 56:51Exactly. You know, and I think that
- 56:53that's the key thing too, is like a lot of, I always relate a
- 56:57lot to fitness. Like one of the key things that
- 56:59I always say is that the scariest path is going to be the
- 57:02hardest path because. You don't.
- 57:05Your body's going to kick like a stallion to get you to stop.
- 57:09Like, oh, this is not normal, not shocking.
- 57:12They do. Yeah, we usually complain about
- 57:15life. We usually don't do this.
- 57:17We're usually speeding down the road or we're usually, you know,
- 57:21complaining and and and eating these chips or getting lost and
- 57:25all these video games or TV and just doing nothing in life.
- 57:28What are we? Why are we making a change?
- 57:31And then it'll it'll your mind will.
- 57:33Or your body mind. Not your mind, not your
- 57:36conscious mind. Your body mind will start to try
- 57:39and rear you back in to doing those old habitual habits.
- 57:43And dude, it's a daily battle. I don't know if you got into Joe
- 57:48Dispenser, if you ever got it or heard of him, that's I'm
- 57:52actually going to one of his his retreats next year.
- 57:58It's a weeklong retreat where he does it's it's a brutal retreat,
- 58:02but it's beautiful. He has I think 55 or 6A year.
- 58:06They're always booked up, but basically it's seven days long.
- 58:10Every day you do 3 meditations. You start out at 4:00 AM in the
- 58:14morning, and I think you end sometimes at 8:00 at night, but
- 58:17you do these meditations to basically reprogram your mind
- 58:21and during this whole retreat they actually have.
- 58:25Neurological systems like it's neuroscientist different like
- 58:31programs they they actually hook you up to brain monitors and
- 58:35they to everyone, not just one person.
- 58:37They they hook it up to everyone and they they show you exactly
- 58:42when and where your mind, your program starts to change and
- 58:47you'll see it like your entire brain because usually you're
- 58:51only using certain parts of your brain.
- 58:53Yeah, during the day. But during these meditations
- 58:56that he takes you through, he has proven science.
- 58:59And this, this dude is crazy. Like he's changed people's in
- 59:03crazy ways. But the way he does it is it's
- 59:06all through you. He shows you your true power.
- 59:09Like you were saying that everything that we need is here
- 59:12in the here and now, in the present moment, and that if we
- 59:15realize how powerful we truly are, we can heal ourselves.
- 59:19And that's the key thing is. During his meditations, he's
- 59:23healed people from cancer. Not being able to see, not being
- 59:27able to walk. He's made them walk again.
- 59:29But the key thing is that you only are able to get.
- 59:33So they did a research during his meditation, they had a lady
- 59:37with cancer actually go up there and he took her through the
- 59:41whole meditation. They had her hooked up to the
- 59:43brain scanner and during the brain scan, they actually saw
- 59:48her brain change. Like, it lit up like, and you,
- 59:52she actually had a physical reaction too.
- 59:54Like, you know, when people are like, they have this gasp of
- 59:57like something just happened. That's kind of how it was.
- 59:59And basically, he says it's the heart bursting open, you know,
- 1:00:03when you start leading a life from the heart.
- 1:00:05And basically they they looked at it, they saw her brain and
- 1:00:08they're like, he was like, well, she just did something crazy
- 1:00:11there. And she actually went to the
- 1:00:13doctors and the very next day they said they didn't know where
- 1:00:17her breast cancer was. And it was just gone.
- 1:00:21But the crazy thing about that is that she actually went back.
- 1:00:25And the very next day, right after she went back to the old
- 1:00:29programming of her mind and the doctors did another scan.
- 1:00:33Her cancer was back. And it was very weird how it
- 1:00:36happens, but that's how it happens.
- 1:00:37If you program your mind and then you go back to your old
- 1:00:40past, your your familiar past, you're starting to think from
- 1:00:45the same place where your cancer came from, and that's going to
- 1:00:48come back so. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:49I'm actually going to one of his retreats out and we haven't
- 1:00:52chose where. He has different locations.
- 1:00:54There's a few out of the country.
- 1:00:55There's a few in the country. But yeah, we're, we're trying to
- 1:00:59go to Cancun. That's the one we're trying to
- 1:01:00go to, yeah. I've been seeing a lot of things
- 1:01:03like this pop up in different circuits.
- 1:01:06You know, of course I have a very, and this isn't like I
- 1:01:11always say, you know, my, my, my, how I represent myself is
- 1:01:15not a I'm not the spokesperson for.
- 1:01:19Dramatic Evenry or or paganism. That as as a whole and you know
- 1:01:22I just do what I do the way I do it and I have you know sources
- 1:01:27or or or you know, I I draw my inspiration from certain root
- 1:01:31sources that sort of thing. But I take a very animistic
- 1:01:35approach to my spirituality, you know.
- 1:01:37So I I find commonalities and nuances across different
- 1:01:44different things that that I can relate with.
- 1:01:47But this particular thing where people are either venturing off
- 1:01:51out of their comfort zones or they're going to things like a
- 1:01:54retreat, where it's like guided, almost shamanic in a way, you
- 1:01:59know, guided meditations. Or you know someone who is the
- 1:02:04expert, someone who is the mentor that it, you know, puts
- 1:02:07themselves in a position to help people and and and people are
- 1:02:10are. Going for these things, you know
- 1:02:14even if it's not a retreat sort of scenario they are they are
- 1:02:17finding they're finding out that what people have been saying for
- 1:02:22so long about you know awaken your higher self and and all
- 1:02:26this like seemingly like woo woo type stuff like there's
- 1:02:29legitimacy to it all. There is there is real factual
- 1:02:34scientific benefits to it all and I think people are are are
- 1:02:37starting to wake up to the fact that.
- 1:02:40It's not just a bunch of hogwash, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:43It's not just some hippie dippie stuff that that someone who did
- 1:02:46too much shrooms or or drop too much acid or whatever had this
- 1:02:50revelation. Like, no, man, there's there's
- 1:02:53real facts behind this. There's science that backs this
- 1:02:55stuff up. And I'm glad to see people from
- 1:02:59different walks of life realizing this because the world
- 1:03:04needs it. Humanity needs it.
- 1:03:07We're hurting, you know, Humanity is hurting.
- 1:03:10And whether it's spirituality, whether it's health and
- 1:03:13Wellness, I mean it all I think has everything ties into one
- 1:03:18another eventually. You know, cuz like you were
- 1:03:20saying before, how you know you were working out and you were
- 1:03:23feeling a certain way, but you really didn't experience the
- 1:03:26full benefit of it until you looked inward and started
- 1:03:29feeding yourself with good things and started focusing on
- 1:03:32the nutrition aspects of it, you know?
- 1:03:35That's healing from within and manifesting that Wellness within
- 1:03:40first, and taking care of what's inward and allowing it to
- 1:03:43manifest outward and look at the benefits that come of it.
- 1:03:48Yeah, I think that's the key is that I actually just made a
- 1:03:51video about that. It's like.
- 1:03:53You people that keep trying to go to the gym and working out
- 1:03:57and I tried it like they were time.
- 1:03:58I tried inter minute fasting for 19/5.
- 1:04:02It was a 19 five so 19 hour fast, 5 hour eating.
- 1:04:06I tried eating healthy. I tried eating Whole Foods.
- 1:04:10I tried working out for 2 1/2 hours.
- 1:04:12I see no results. But the key difference was here.
- 1:04:18There was something inside of me that was bothering me and I
- 1:04:20didn't want to face it. But when I switched it, when I
- 1:04:24was able to actually look at that and change that, the diet
- 1:04:28that I had had no effect on it. And I started doing a diet, a
- 1:04:32simple diet, and it literally changed my effects.
- 1:04:35But there's also scientific research that when your mind and
- 1:04:38body are in stress, that you're able to collect fat a lot
- 1:04:42faster, almost three to five times faster than you are in
- 1:04:45homeostasis, whereas you eat like let's say you eat 500
- 1:04:49calories over your normal. Calorie intake and where and
- 1:04:54when you're in stress mode, whereas you're in homeostasis,
- 1:04:59you'll lose that body weight. Where when you're in a stress
- 1:05:03mode, you're going to get exponential.
- 1:05:06Yeah, you're going to start getting because your body starts
- 1:05:08thinking it's in a fight or flight.
- 1:05:11Therefore. It starts to store that, yeah.
- 1:05:13And then when your body's always in fight or flight stressing
- 1:05:16out, you start to retain all of that.
- 1:05:18And I experience that. I got a big chubby at one point
- 1:05:22and it was all emotional eating and that's I tried working out
- 1:05:27for hours and stuff like that and you're not going to get
- 1:05:30results. And that's one that's the first
- 1:05:33part of my face and my nutrition plan is metabolic restoration,
- 1:05:37whatever fat diet, whatever diet you were on.
- 1:05:41Crazy, because a lot of people think they go on these massive
- 1:05:44deficits. And that's the answer.
- 1:05:45No, You can keep that up for maybe a week or two, and then
- 1:05:49your metabolism is messed up and then it all goes bad.
- 1:05:52And then that's that's why we start the first phase of my
- 1:05:56fitness and nutrition training is metabolic restoration.
- 1:06:00So we figure out what's going on, what is causing this stress,
- 1:06:04We figure that out first. So that way when we start
- 1:06:08getting into the nitty gritty stuff, we have exponential
- 1:06:11result. That's why when I told you that
- 1:06:13I had a client that lost £40 in five months, that was the first
- 1:06:17thing we focused on. I didn't even have him start
- 1:06:20working out. I literally just said show up at
- 1:06:22the gym and leave and that's literally what he did.
- 1:06:24The second week we did a 12 minute workout and he's like
- 1:06:27that's it. And I'm like yeah, go home like
- 1:06:30that's all you need to do today. And then he went home and.
- 1:06:34He started noticing that he wasn't stressing.
- 1:06:37He started getting better sleep, he started drinking more water,
- 1:06:40cut out alcohol. The third week I didn't even
- 1:06:42tell him to cut out the alcohol. He chose to and then slowly but
- 1:06:46surely he just started making these little changes. 40 pounds
- 1:06:50later he went from. He was only, I think he was 5,
- 1:06:53he's 5 foot five and he was £185 which is like a that's massively
- 1:06:59overweight, but he had told me he wanted to.
- 1:07:02Get to 140 pounds, which I was like man, that's that's massive.
- 1:07:05But we'll see. And his he had a very Big Y.
- 1:07:09That's what it stuck with me is his Y was really big.
- 1:07:12So after the first week of training I saw he was dedicated
- 1:07:15and I was like okay, like he incorporated fasting on his own.
- 1:07:19He started. I just gave him the ropes.
- 1:07:22I was like hey like what One thing we can work on okay boom,
- 1:07:25let's do that. Did you do it How do you feel
- 1:07:28every little step and. That's what people don't
- 1:07:31understand is that it's changing habits and changing your
- 1:07:33emotions first. When you're.
- 1:07:36Yes, reprogramming your mind. And when you do that, I call it
- 1:07:40the metabolic restoration phase. Because not only are you fixing
- 1:07:43your mental, you're fixing your your metabolic where everything
- 1:07:47happens. When you fix your mind, you
- 1:07:49start to fix your body and your body's able to process what it
- 1:07:52really needs and then it stops stressing out.
- 1:07:55And when you stop stressing out, you're able to just let go, you
- 1:07:58know, and. Things just start magically
- 1:08:01happening, but it's always the ones that and people don't
- 1:08:05really believe me until they start doing this with me.
- 1:08:07But they're like how did how did you get him to lose that much
- 1:08:10weight? I just told him to show up to
- 1:08:11the gym and leave, that's it. Lost £40.00 but that's
- 1:08:16literally. Like, that's the why.
- 1:08:19Yeah, the why. You know, Like you're saying his
- 1:08:21why was strong. And I've talked about this too,
- 1:08:24with people, guests and friends alike, you know?
- 1:08:29Because I I think we as as just as a species, I mean humanity,
- 1:08:33we have a propensity of doing things just because like
- 1:08:39somebody else did it first and kind of like, you know, growing
- 1:08:41up in the in the environment that you grew up, you know, and
- 1:08:46in the environment that I grew up in, you know, everybody was
- 1:08:48doing things because of what somebody else told them to do
- 1:08:51and using fear to persuade them to do it.
- 1:08:55There was no, there was no free thinking.
- 1:08:59With people, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:01And they didn't have their, why Their purpose was I don't want
- 1:09:06to burn in hell for eternity. You know, they were it was a
- 1:09:09fear. You know, it was a fear of this
- 1:09:12mythical thing. That does it exist, does it not?
- 1:09:15I mean, who knows? They're they're, you know,
- 1:09:16everything's based off of this, this this other person's
- 1:09:21perspective, this other person's angle.
- 1:09:23And I get it. I'm not trying to bash.
- 1:09:25Anyone for their religious or spiritual beliefs because I have
- 1:09:27my own and I feel convicted in them and everybody has it and
- 1:09:30and that's that's perfectly fun. If it works for you then fine.
- 1:09:33But I guess what my my point is is do you really believe it is
- 1:09:37it is is why you're doing what you're doing.
- 1:09:39Are you purpose driven for for for the right reasons or are you
- 1:09:43just going through the motions because you don't want to run
- 1:09:47the risk of pissing off you know, this person that person.
- 1:09:52You know, ending up in the wrong place because of, you know what
- 1:09:55somebody else said if it's not, if you don't have a purpose to
- 1:09:59do something, you know, so many people that I've come across do
- 1:10:03things because again, it's it's it's in a book or somebody five,
- 1:10:066-7 hundred years ago wrote about it that that's how they
- 1:10:09did it. And it's like, yeah, well that's
- 1:10:10that's what worked for them, right?
- 1:10:14That's why they did it. It's because they and it got
- 1:10:16written down or got documented. And so yeah, we have it as like
- 1:10:19a source but. You know they had a purpose.
- 1:10:22They had a reason. Why.
- 1:10:24Find your reason. Why?
- 1:10:25Find your purpose. Why are you doing XY&Z?
- 1:10:29And if you don't have it, then I think you're only going to get
- 1:10:31so far. You're not going to really reap
- 1:10:33the true benefits of the thing that you're trying to to
- 1:10:36accomplish if you don't have a strong purpose behind.
- 1:10:42So I have a question like for you.
- 1:10:44For you, I'm really interested in your beliefs.
- 1:10:47Actually, I. I want to hear all about it, cuz
- 1:10:50I've heard a lot about paganism. But what is it cuz I know you,
- 1:10:53you brought up Germanic and there was a little bit of
- 1:10:56studies that I've done with it, but I I don't know much about
- 1:10:59it, so you got to explain a little bit about it for for me.
- 1:11:01Yeah, sure. Yeah.
- 1:11:03So yes, Paganism is as it's an overarching term or an umbrella
- 1:11:08term for polytheistic spirituality, polytheistic
- 1:11:12religion. So whereas you know, monotheism,
- 1:11:15things like Christianity, Judaism, Islam.
- 1:11:19You know the their higher power is is singular, right?
- 1:11:22There is this one God in in in their beliefs.
- 1:11:25Whereas paganism all over the world brings about polytheistic
- 1:11:30beliefs, so multiple deities that make up either pantheons or
- 1:11:36a collective of divine beings. And Heathenry is a term that's
- 1:11:43that's usually used to describe the Northern European or
- 1:11:47Germanic. Flavor of of paganism, you know
- 1:11:52so where things kind of started off there probably has roots in
- 1:11:57in Indoeuropean you know countries and it eventually
- 1:12:05formulates into this or or eventually reached areas like
- 1:12:11Scandinavia you know so your mainland continental Germanic
- 1:12:15areas so where Germany is now. Used to be Saxony, England.
- 1:12:22Was was was Anglo, English angle, angle, angle and angle.
- 1:12:26And England is is what was angle and and then those.
- 1:12:29Those Pagan beliefs that that originated there eventually made
- 1:12:34their way further north into Scandinavia.
- 1:12:36So Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and eventually Iceland as it became
- 1:12:42settled. But so the the, the, the, the
- 1:12:46belief systems, right? Kind of have a lot of
- 1:12:49similarities. There are nuances that are
- 1:12:50shared. But your gods and goddesses of
- 1:12:54the Germanic peoples are figures like Odin, Thor and and and some
- 1:13:01others of course but like Tear Freak or and Freya Frayer.
- 1:13:07Like there's different gods and stuff but the those are the
- 1:13:10divine, like those are the sacred beings and at different
- 1:13:12points in time and in different areas of the world, some of
- 1:13:16those gods were. Focused on more than others.
- 1:13:18So the the Swedes particularly had a very strong affinity
- 1:13:26towards a God named Frayer and the nobility among the Danes and
- 1:13:33and and some of the other neighboring countries were were
- 1:13:37very they had a strong affinity to Thor.
- 1:13:43Because he was the the God of the people he was he is
- 1:13:46considered as like the protector of of earth, the protector of
- 1:13:49mid guard. Mid guard meeting a a place in
- 1:13:53the cosmos of of those belief systems.
- 1:13:57So, so mid guard is like this middle middle yard middle area
- 1:14:00and that's earth that's where humans are and then there are
- 1:14:03the realms that in stories are homes to different beings you
- 1:14:09know so Asgard is the home of the gods.
- 1:14:11It is is the. The yard of the the divine.
- 1:14:14So Asgard is where the gods dwell and Midgard is where
- 1:14:18humans dwell and then you have different realms that in
- 1:14:21throughout the stories have again are the homes of other
- 1:14:25spiritual and and divine beings. But at its core you know it.
- 1:14:30It is a very nature and and community based folkway belief
- 1:14:38system. So you know, things to do with
- 1:14:41nature and and and the earth itself and and growing things
- 1:14:46and being being frugal in that way.
- 1:14:48It's it's it's the way our ancient ancestors lived, you
- 1:14:51know, they lived off of the land.
- 1:14:53The the word itself, heathen has is is etymologically rooted back
- 1:14:58to old proto Germanic words that meant literally just country
- 1:15:03people, heath dwellers, the the heathens.
- 1:15:06A later on became a derogatory term, because when Christianity
- 1:15:09began to spread in Europe, Pagan and heathen were were turns to
- 1:15:13you describe those who did not adopt the belief systems of the
- 1:15:17Church of the Christian faith. So it became derogatory, and it
- 1:15:21became a a a slur, as as in a way, but etymologically like
- 1:15:26linguistically speaking like heathen.
- 1:15:28Haven is it is a word that again has its roots in in meaning that
- 1:15:32the people that lived in the country, the heath dwellers, the
- 1:15:34the the people that live outside of the normal they had they were
- 1:15:38villages they were village people you know what I mean they
- 1:15:40they were small tribes that that originated in in continental
- 1:15:47Germanic lands and then they eventually just migrated and
- 1:15:51spread and be in found in found new lands to to set up and in
- 1:15:54their indigenous beliefs went with them.
- 1:15:58So they were, you know, they were, they were simple people of
- 1:16:03course later on and I say later on, I mean like around the seven
- 1:16:07hundreds, that's when the quote UN quote Viking Age kind of
- 1:16:14started and it lasted till, you know about the year, well 11112
- 1:16:20hundred somewhere in that vicinity, right, Like it.
- 1:16:22So it lasted, you know, a relatively short period of time,
- 1:16:25about 500 years or so. But the Viking Age was when
- 1:16:29Christianity started to infiltrate these areas and
- 1:16:36people got mad about it. They're like, no, you can't
- 1:16:39convert us. You won't convert us.
- 1:16:41You know, we're going to, we're going to fight.
- 1:16:43And so yes, there were some definite, you know, they were
- 1:16:47they were there. There's definitely times when
- 1:16:49when people converted because it worked well for them to do so.
- 1:16:54That and also the kings that. Ended up you know the the the
- 1:17:00kings that were in power who said we're not pagans anymore,
- 1:17:03we're Christians and I said so I mean you got a David King says
- 1:17:07right. So there was there was a lot of
- 1:17:09that going on but there were there were definitely struggles
- 1:17:14and and and fights to preserve their indigenous beliefs their
- 1:17:19their Pagan beliefs and it and it resulted in wars and death
- 1:17:25and and and stuff so. You know when when people hear
- 1:17:28about gods like Odin and Thor and Viking Age and stuff that
- 1:17:32there there tends to be this people like ourselves like
- 1:17:38modernday pagans that are that are dramatic heathens like oh
- 1:17:41you're a Viking. You know people will say that
- 1:17:43they they they they use the term Viking to describe people that
- 1:17:46believe in those gods. And so the term itself Viking is
- 1:17:51is that was that was a time that was a time period the Viking
- 1:17:53age. Yes it happened with an involved
- 1:17:59Scandinavians and and Germanic peoples.
- 1:18:02But not all German descendants were Vikings, right?
- 1:18:06And not all Scandinavians were Vikings.
- 1:18:08People that did raiding and and actually sailed to other areas
- 1:18:14and and and founded places and then raided and pillage and
- 1:18:17things like they they were doing what is called Viking or they
- 1:18:22were the the the word is Vickinger.
- 1:18:25It's it's an old word that, that is you were the man, you were
- 1:18:29the you were the person who went to go Viking.
- 1:18:32So you were you're a pirate, you're a Raider.
- 1:18:36And none of us now in the modern day are that, like, we're not
- 1:18:40Vikings. We don't go raiding, we don't go
- 1:18:42pillaging. We're not, you know, taking over
- 1:18:44monasteries and and stealing stuff and bringing it back to to
- 1:18:48our families. Those were certain specific
- 1:18:51people that did certain specific things.
- 1:18:54And yes, that thing is called to go Viking.
- 1:18:57So it's like to go, if I went swimming, I'm, I'm going to go
- 1:19:00swim. If I'm hiking, I'm going to go
- 1:19:03hike. Well, if I'm going to go Viking,
- 1:19:05then that means I'm going to go pillage and raid and do all
- 1:19:08these nasty things. But yeah, we're not Vikings, We
- 1:19:12are pagans. We're huge.
- 1:19:14Yeah, yeah, I love that. I was when I first started, like
- 1:19:19so my transition from Christianity the first time.
- 1:19:22It was Greek mythology, but I didn't think it was mythology.
- 1:19:26I actually believed in it. I mean, I of course, when my dad
- 1:19:30found the books, it was, yeah, they're just books, you know.
- 1:19:33Yeah, that was such a big. To me.
- 1:19:37With such a big family, I mean, so is is, you know, if I'm
- 1:19:42prying too much is, is all your family still where you left
- 1:19:46from? Likely they still believe the
- 1:19:48things that you. No, only only two of them.
- 1:19:52Only two, the 18. It had such an it had bigger
- 1:19:55impacts on some of the family members than it did on me.
- 1:19:58Some of them are like one of them in particular, two of them
- 1:20:01actually. They're both females and they
- 1:20:06had a huge impact done on them, just like they just can't let go
- 1:20:11of what it did to them mentally. It broke relationships like
- 1:20:17between them and their dad and their parents and and their mom
- 1:20:20too, so. Our mom and dad were so deep
- 1:20:23into it that it was like, what we're doing is wrong.
- 1:20:27And they were cast out. It was like, like they're don't
- 1:20:30be like them, but they actually turned out.
- 1:20:33The one's a lawyer, the other one's very successful as well.
- 1:20:36And it's like, man, like. Isn't it crazy how those belief
- 1:20:44styles like that, that mentality, how it can?
- 1:20:47Destroy something that is just so inherently wholesome family.
- 1:20:51I mean you know like who else do you have if you don't have
- 1:20:55family and and that that may sound like I just you know got
- 1:20:59finished watching the fast and furious whatever you got family
- 1:21:03you have nothing but no but what I'm like for me specifically
- 1:21:07like heathen heathenry and and paganism like our beliefs are
- 1:21:11you know your can your family like.
- 1:21:15The the the history of of the dramatic people and and all the
- 1:21:20way from pro you know before Christian times up through and
- 1:21:23including the Viking age is riddled with sockas and stories
- 1:21:27about you know who did this that thing to the other a person of
- 1:21:32their family and then how vengeance was enacted or they
- 1:21:34you know family meant something back then and you know it it it
- 1:21:39wasn't always your blood family that that meant the most.
- 1:21:43To you it was how family was perceived and how it was seen.
- 1:21:46So there was a lot of you know adoption and fostering that that
- 1:21:51took place and and once that happened man, like you were you
- 1:21:54were in like you were you were part of the family And when when
- 1:21:57things got broken when when that family structure when that when
- 1:22:00that family unit deteriorated it was bad.
- 1:22:04Like it was bad news. And I've always really like in
- 1:22:09in in my journeys and in my you know life and then how I've.
- 1:22:13Progressed, seeing how I was raised and and what I was
- 1:22:18brought up in like there were there were definitely things
- 1:22:20about it that are I would say good morally and ethnically good
- 1:22:24things. Again I I I grew up working on a
- 1:22:28farm and and and having an idea of how to live off the land, how
- 1:22:32to hunt, how to fish how to stay warm and dry in the woods and
- 1:22:37and do all these survival type things right learning those
- 1:22:40things. Those are great things those are
- 1:22:42good things and and and and how just like the religiosity of it
- 1:22:48is is what took over and it and it overshadowed the fundamental
- 1:22:53purpose of what our what that group had as a potential right.
- 1:22:58We could have literally been a selfsustaining you know relied
- 1:23:02on each other very tribal in in in its construct and the
- 1:23:07religiosity of it started to just.
- 1:23:11Peel things away there there's there's hardly anything left of
- 1:23:14it now. You know they're the they people
- 1:23:17have either died or the kids that those people had that have
- 1:23:20died have have gone away because they're like fuck this cuckoo
- 1:23:25you know stuff and and I was one of them you know I was one of
- 1:23:31them who who was like I'm I'm out of here guys.
- 1:23:34You know I'm I I left New York when I was 22.
- 1:23:39Yeah. 22 years old in New York. Yeah.
- 1:23:44So I'm originally from New York, but I moved to Tennessee almost
- 1:23:4820 years ago to get away from it, you know?
- 1:23:51So where did you guys have the farmland in New York at?
- 1:23:55So it's Orange County, Hudson Valley.
- 1:24:00Yeah, got you. Got you.
- 1:24:01Not quite, not quite as far up into the the Adirondacks, but
- 1:24:05kind of I would say like, yeah, Hudson Valley, so you know the
- 1:24:07lower foothills of the Catskill Mountain range.
- 1:24:10Yeah, yeah. I was born and raised on Long
- 1:24:13Island and sometimes depending on how upset I am and or how
- 1:24:18much I've had to drink, the the Long Island accent comes out a
- 1:24:20bit more. But yeah, so I'm I'm from there.
- 1:24:24My parents are from there. I was born there.
- 1:24:26My sister and I were raised there and then.
- 1:24:29Yeah, when I was like 12 or 13, we moved up to where my mom
- 1:24:34lives now. They've had that house, you
- 1:24:37know, or since 9796 or 97 and they've been there ever since.
- 1:24:43Well, my dad just passed away this year, so now it's just my
- 1:24:46mom and my sister that that live up there.
- 1:24:48But yeah, it's all right. Thanks.
- 1:24:51Yeah, it's it's just like seeing the, you know.
- 1:24:54I don't know how old you are, but over the years, like when
- 1:24:56you when you when you leave something and you start looking
- 1:24:58at it from the outside and you're like, damn, I can't
- 1:25:02believe I I actually at one point in time went along with
- 1:25:07this, yeah. Yeah, that's it sometimes, Yeah.
- 1:25:10No, I went through the same thing, dude.
- 1:25:11It was like because as a as a young kid, you don't.
- 1:25:15I grew up in it for 16 years and it was like.
- 1:25:19I didn't know, like, I was so young that I was like, ohh, this
- 1:25:21is in it. Your subconscious is wide open.
- 1:25:25So anything that comes in, you're like, ohh, this is
- 1:25:27amazing until you start to see like, wait a second, like, and
- 1:25:33then I start telling this to different people and they're
- 1:25:36like, you live that life like that's crazy.
- 1:25:39And I'm like, wait, I thought that was just normal.
- 1:25:42I thought everyone had that type of life.
- 1:25:44And then it was a cult, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:25:47And then you go, you look away and then you start noticing
- 1:25:51there now to say that there's things that weren't good about
- 1:25:55the way I grew up. I'd be wrong because I'm very
- 1:25:58out there. We were kept away from
- 1:26:00television and stuff like that, which made me be very more in
- 1:26:04tune and in touch with humanity and with other people.
- 1:26:08So I think that in that way, it was so, so good for me.
- 1:26:12But. The limiting beliefs about
- 1:26:14money, about being able to go out there and give myself to the
- 1:26:18world, and that's that's what it's about, is like becoming the
- 1:26:22very best version of yourself and then going and giving him to
- 1:26:25the world. You know, like, what is that
- 1:26:27person that you admire? What is he look like?
- 1:26:30What does he breathe? What does he talk about?
- 1:26:32What does he think? How does it?
- 1:26:34What does he enjoy Now give that person to the world.
- 1:26:38We weren't taught that. And just looking back, it's
- 1:26:41like. I try.
- 1:26:42The best thing I can do now is just to reprogram that and just
- 1:26:46also to look at the good, because gratitude is the
- 1:26:49highest, the highest emotion in the emotional scale.
- 1:26:53So always thinking on gratitude is is starting to reprogram my
- 1:26:57mind to think of the good and instead of thinking from field
- 1:27:01fear, shame, lack and all those low emotional vibrations and
- 1:27:06it's more so thinking in a high vibration frequency with
- 1:27:09gratitude and love and being conscious.
- 1:27:12About this stuff too. So that's like the the number
- 1:27:16one key. But man, I think that's yeah,
- 1:27:19that's crazy, man. Like growing up on a farm,
- 1:27:21because I've always wanted to do that.
- 1:27:23Like I think those are the simplest lives.
- 1:27:26Like I messed with a girl when I was for a little bit and she
- 1:27:30grew up in the South and it was all like barefoot stuff like
- 1:27:35like that, farming, go out fishing.
- 1:27:39Stuff like that. And it's the way she talked
- 1:27:42about it. It was just like, oh, his life
- 1:27:44was simple and she actually, but of course, same thing, Religion.
- 1:27:49It's crazy. Anything that, even whether it's
- 1:27:53religion or not, I think anything that has the component
- 1:27:58of fear added to it as as an element of control.
- 1:28:02Because again, you know, you're talking about things like.
- 1:28:07Any if it's doctrine if it's if it's somebody saying that, well
- 1:28:11it says it in this book, therefore it has to be this way
- 1:28:14or else. Right.
- 1:28:15The consequences are so incredibly terrifying that
- 1:28:20you're like I I absolutely don't want to do anything that would
- 1:28:24get me there. You know what I mean?
- 1:28:25I don't want to burn in the eternity.
- 1:28:27You know what I mean? Like that that's like that's
- 1:28:28that's frightening anything that does that and and I I think
- 1:28:31there are other things too that can even if it's not like a very
- 1:28:35popular. I don't know.
- 1:28:36A perversion of Christianity because that's really what it
- 1:28:39is. I mean I I know people.
- 1:28:40I have people in my life and my in my family who are as I would
- 1:28:44say, good Christian people. You know what I mean?
- 1:28:46Like they have a moral code. They they they follow their
- 1:28:50their doctrine and they are good people.
- 1:28:52And then there's others that I've known and have come across
- 1:28:54within my life that have been that that doctrine has been
- 1:28:58perverted to them and they push that perversion out and and it
- 1:29:02and it becomes something twisted and not.
- 1:29:05What it should you know was never intended to be.
- 1:29:07But even stuff outside of that like if you have to if you have
- 1:29:11to tell someone in with you know and give them an angle and use
- 1:29:15fear to try to make your point probably not the thing to that
- 1:29:22you that you know. I I wouldn't want to be.
- 1:29:24I've never since I've gotten into heathenry paganism right
- 1:29:27since I found this path. You know I've never tried to use
- 1:29:31this as as as a fear tactic on others.
- 1:29:34Not even my own, not even my own family who I walked away from
- 1:29:36essentially and said I'm I'm done with you guys for the time
- 1:29:39being cuz I can't. I can't abide it anymore.
- 1:29:41It doesn't doesn't make sense to me.
- 1:29:43It doesn't speak to me. It doesn't do anything for me.
- 1:29:45I once I found my my path like it wasn't like and now let me go
- 1:29:49back and try to convince them why they're wrong.
- 1:29:52Never, never, never has been a thing.
- 1:29:54You know, yeah, same, yeah. Like I'm finding my own piece,
- 1:29:59my own purpose, and I'm finding people that align with it.
- 1:30:03Naturally and organically and yes, there's work to be done.
- 1:30:06Like there are things that you know you want to be accessible.
- 1:30:09You want to like kind of with you.
- 1:30:10Like you have a vision. You you've, you've branded it.
- 1:30:13You've made it something that you've again.
- 1:30:15You you are finding the best version of you and sharing it
- 1:30:18with the world. I love that.
- 1:30:19I I, you know, and it could be anything.
- 1:30:21Finding the best version of yourself and then don't be
- 1:30:23selfish about it. Don't.
- 1:30:26Keep it from people. Share people, you know, because
- 1:30:29that people, people need that man.
- 1:30:31Like I said before, the world needs healing.
- 1:30:34The world needs visionaries and and people with good wholesome
- 1:30:40visions and and purpose and it it you know, if you can't find a
- 1:30:45way then make a way is what I've always said like if you know
- 1:30:49find someone that can be a mentor for you or or at the very
- 1:30:52least you know guide you. Suggestions.
- 1:30:57And if you can or if it's a little bit tough, man, and then
- 1:30:59get out there and do it yourself.
- 1:31:00Like, start doing the thing, Start putting in the work.
- 1:31:05It's better to try and fail than to never try at all.
- 1:31:08And that's so true. And I think one of the biggest
- 1:31:12things people hold on to is material things is we're so
- 1:31:17stuck on. I need this and this and this to
- 1:31:20get to where I wanna be, but yeah.
- 1:31:23You can be where you want to be in here 1st and everything else
- 1:31:27will come. Like a lot of people say, I
- 1:31:29can't be rich without having money.
- 1:31:31Like I don't have money to do that.
- 1:31:33I don't have a good job. I don't have an education.
- 1:31:35But yeah, if you look at all the billionaires and millionaires of
- 1:31:38the world, who were they? At one point, they had no money.
- 1:31:42Like most of them went into debt.
- 1:31:45And that's the thing like I try to teach people.
- 1:31:49Stop being afraid to chase your dreams if you.
- 1:31:52If you're thinking you can't go to a mastermind or you can't
- 1:31:56hire a mentor because you don't have enough money, go broke for
- 1:32:00it. Why?
- 1:32:00Because that person has the exact thing that you're looking
- 1:32:03for and they're going to teach you how to get it.
- 1:32:06And that's the whole point. Like, find somebody.
- 1:32:09Like, everyone's had a coach. Like Jordan had a coach.
- 1:32:13Kobe Bryant had a coach. All these like Alexander Great,
- 1:32:17The Great had a coach. And he was all these people were
- 1:32:21coached by great people. But if you think that if you're
- 1:32:24constantly saying and letting money constantly restrict your
- 1:32:27life, you're always going to have that mentality and it's
- 1:32:30never your life is never going to come to you.
- 1:32:32Like for me, like I would rather spend, my goal is to one day
- 1:32:37spend $250,000 on personal growth.
- 1:32:42Because why? Why would I spend that much
- 1:32:44money on personal growth? Because that and probably even
- 1:32:47more, probably millions. Because I know that that is the
- 1:32:51one thing that can make me more money and make me give me more
- 1:32:54time, give me happiness is hiring people that already know
- 1:32:58where I want to be and learning exactly from them.
- 1:33:02Like one of the coaches that I like to listen to.
- 1:33:05He had talked about basically saying he said that basically he
- 1:33:10wanted to learn how to do Facebook ads and the way he did
- 1:33:14it is he found somebody that knew how to do it.
- 1:33:16He asked him how much he makes in a month.
- 1:33:19And or no, he asked him how much he would charge him for an hour,
- 1:33:23a week or hourly to to train him one-on-one.
- 1:33:26That he had to train him that this guy that was asking for the
- 1:33:30help had to do all the work, that the other the teacher
- 1:33:33couldn't do any of the work, he had to do all the hands on work
- 1:33:36and that he would pay him for whatever he wanted.
- 1:33:38So the guy said $750 a week or an hour, all charging.
- 1:33:42He was like, fine, I don't care. Within a month he learned how to
- 1:33:45do it, made millions of dollars off of it.
- 1:33:48And that's what people don't understand, is when you learn
- 1:33:50from the best, you learn the little tweaks and stuff.
- 1:33:53But I I also learned is that you can't buy courses, go and get
- 1:33:57hands on like feedback from these people.
- 1:34:00Don't be. Spend the extra money to get
- 1:34:02personal training from people, whether it's fitness, whether
- 1:34:05it's cooking, whether it's any of this stuff.
- 1:34:08Go and get hands on and you'll learn.
- 1:34:10Like don't be. I have one of my mentors.
- 1:34:13He was 60 years old and he didn't find what he loved and
- 1:34:16didn't make his first million until he was 55.
- 1:34:20After 55 years of searching, he did everything.
- 1:34:23He finally did it and it was like, what part of the what is
- 1:34:28too long, what is too short, you know?
- 1:34:31Don't. Be afraid.
- 1:34:32Yeah. Don't be afraid to embark on
- 1:34:33this journey. It's dark, it's lonesome, but
- 1:34:36it's worth it. Yeah, man, as long as we got, as
- 1:34:40long as we're upright, as I say long as we're upright breathe in
- 1:34:42air, Yes. I mean, you got the ability.
- 1:34:45There's nothing stopping us except ourselves.
- 1:34:48Exactly, exactly. And we always over exaggerate
- 1:34:52the situation cuz usually whenever I'm not in a good mood
- 1:34:55and I'm like man, I wanna give up but then you just go to sleep
- 1:34:59or you do, you just keep going and then you wake up the next
- 1:35:01morning and you're like let's do it again.
- 1:35:04When you have a blueprint to follow every day, and that's my
- 1:35:06other thing is like, I give people programmings that they
- 1:35:09can follow every day. So it's very simple and easy to
- 1:35:12achieve their goals. You just wake up, you knock
- 1:35:15those out, notice, like my thing is try and get us all my stuff
- 1:35:20done as soon as possible. The sooner I can just relax, you
- 1:35:23know? And that's what I do.
- 1:35:25You don't want to just kill yourself, you want to be in it
- 1:35:28for the long run, however long it's going to take 1015 years,
- 1:35:32so don't. Put so much pressure on doing so
- 1:35:37much in a day where you can so much more in 5-10 years, because
- 1:35:42that's minimal. It's going to take one to three
- 1:35:44years to do some of the things that you really want to do.
- 1:35:47Well, it takes, was it? Say they take it takes 10 years
- 1:35:49to be an overnight success. Yes, You know, Yes, it's a
- 1:35:53marathon, not a Sprint. Understand it's like like if you
- 1:35:56look at the story of the bamboo, how how long does it take for a
- 1:35:59bamboo to grow once it's in the floor?
- 1:36:02I think it takes almost eight months.
- 1:36:04You don't see anything and then within three weeks it's it's at
- 1:36:07its highest point. Like that's what people don't
- 1:36:10understand. And it was, I think it's a lot
- 1:36:13longer for the growing point, like it's underground, it's a
- 1:36:16lot longer, but that's what people don't understand is like
- 1:36:19you have to put in the time, you have to put in the and let it,
- 1:36:22let it grow because you can't just go after it and just think
- 1:36:27that oh, within a month I'll be rich.
- 1:36:29That's not how it works if you're willing.
- 1:36:32To put in five years and not see it a dime.
- 1:36:35You'll win the person that enjoys the walk instead of the.
- 1:36:39Destination. Yep.
- 1:36:43I've said that for the longest too.
- 1:36:44You know where it's about the journey.
- 1:36:48It ain't about the the destination.
- 1:36:50Because again, you're not going to, you're not going to find
- 1:36:53those nooks. You're not going to find those
- 1:36:55goat paths, those rabbit holes. You're not going to find those
- 1:36:59those deep and dark places to explore if you're just.
- 1:37:01Haul an ass rushing through, trying to get to the end.
- 1:37:05You're going to miss so much along the way that you could
- 1:37:06have benefited from. So that's life.
- 1:37:10No matter what you do, whether it's trying to pursue wealth,
- 1:37:13whether it's fitness, whether it's your, you know,
- 1:37:16spirituality. I mean anything it it it takes
- 1:37:20time and nurturing and organic. You know so much of what I I
- 1:37:28follow is. Is community based and it's but
- 1:37:32that's the thing that's lost nowadays.
- 1:37:33Like people at large, just they don't have the same sense of
- 1:37:37community as we once did. And trying to force that only
- 1:37:42ends up with it. It doesn't take hold, the roots
- 1:37:46don't sink in and then it be it just, it fizzles out, you know.
- 1:37:49So you got to be in it for the long haul.
- 1:37:51You got to be ready to put in the work in the time, the effort
- 1:37:54to nurture it along its way. And see its growth as it happens
- 1:37:58organically. Yes.
- 1:37:59Feed it. Yes, Nurture it.
- 1:38:00Make sure that if anything pops up that needs to be trimmed out
- 1:38:03or or or cleaned up along the way that you're taking care of
- 1:38:06it. But let it grow, man.
- 1:38:08Like let let the roots sink in. Let it take hold, let it
- 1:38:11blossom, let it die along the way.
- 1:38:13I mean there's there's all of these like metaphysical things
- 1:38:16that you can add to the to the growth dynamic.
- 1:38:19You know what I mean? Like it's it's we see it around
- 1:38:22us everywhere. It's we're part of it.
- 1:38:24We're part of that experience. So what we apply that that
- 1:38:29energy to is is it's gonna, it's gonna be an extension of us and
- 1:38:34our whole experience so. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:38:37Yeah. But this has been great, man.
- 1:38:39I'm gonna actually gonna wrap it up here, if you don't mind,
- 1:38:41just, you know, stick around so I can, you know, bid you a
- 1:38:46farewell. But yeah, everybody that's
- 1:38:48that's listening and watching today.
- 1:38:49David Masano, right? Yes, right.
- 1:38:53But yeah, David Masano. I mentioned, I don't know real
- 1:38:56quick before, I don't know, want to speak out of turn because did
- 1:38:58you, did you serve in the military?
- 1:39:00I did serve. That's a whole other story.
- 1:39:03Yeah, I didn't want to. If that's a whole other story
- 1:39:06and stuff, then I don't want to get too deep into it.
- 1:39:08But I do want to say thank you for your service and I'm I'm
- 1:39:13sure that it had a part in everything.
- 1:39:16You know, you're welcome to say something really briefly if you
- 1:39:19want about it before we wrap up, so.
- 1:39:22That that's what put me. It gave me the discipline in the
- 1:39:24mindset and the grit to be to be chasing this and be able to be
- 1:39:28strong enough to give this to the world.
- 1:39:31So you had that, that formal training to get to put you in a
- 1:39:35position to to apply it in the civilian sector in their
- 1:39:39civilian life. And that's great.
- 1:39:41I'm glad to hear you have had an experience, you know, from your
- 1:39:46childhood through your youth. Such a life potentially
- 1:39:50lifechanging experience, you know battling with really dark
- 1:39:52things that you wanted to end it.
- 1:39:54You push through. You found a place to to apply
- 1:39:59yourself in. You also went to the extent of
- 1:40:03you know, serving your country and and that experience really
- 1:40:06helped amplify your ability to apply yourself and and do these
- 1:40:10things. And now here you are in in the
- 1:40:13West Coast of the United States helping other people.
- 1:40:16And and and helping people I guess maybe across the world
- 1:40:19too. I mean I don't know how far your
- 1:40:21client clientele bases but the sky is the limit.
- 1:40:23I I feel like you've got that vision to to to to get out of
