- 0:00Speaker 1: Three blocks and look who's here. Chris Daly has joined
- 0:03Speaker 1: us for the daily recap as we are courts side
- 0:05Speaker 1: here in Greensboro. What good energy, good crowd tonight. I
- 0:08Speaker 1: was had a lot of you fans.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yes we did, ye, yes we did.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Not easy. It's not supposed to be a lot of
- 0:14Speaker 1: good a lot of things to work on, but a
- 0:15Speaker 1: good road win for the first time out.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we're the same team that went up
- 0:19Speaker 3: twenty one and then we struggled and our offense didn't
- 0:22Speaker 3: look quite as good and then we you know, I
- 0:24Speaker 3: don't know if which came first, whether it was we
- 0:26Speaker 3: started missing shots and then stopped defending because there was
- 0:29Speaker 3: a stretch there that you know, they went on their run.
- 0:31Speaker 3: But the toughness of our players, you know, I thought
- 0:35Speaker 3: Ice played really really well. I finished with nine and nine,
- 0:38Speaker 3: but made you know, just the hustle play down on
- 0:40Speaker 3: this end.
- 0:41Speaker 2: To save it.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Just a lot of really great hustle plays. Morgan Chelly
- 0:43Speaker 3: only played a few minutes but made some hustle plays
- 0:46Speaker 3: that that really are the difference in games like this
- 0:49Speaker 3: when teams are trying to cut the lead. So a
- 0:51Speaker 3: lot of really good things you have to remind yourself
- 0:54Speaker 3: like it's only the third game that we played, right, yep.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So we have to as coaches learned to be a
- 0:59Speaker 3: little more patient. Some coaches need to learn to be
- 1:02Speaker 3: more patient than others. I'm not referring to myself as
- 1:06Speaker 3: much as coach Oriamo. But there's just so much that
- 1:10Speaker 3: you see that so many all the good things that
- 1:13Speaker 3: we can do, and you want them to hurry up
- 1:16Speaker 3: and for them to realize that and not get caught up,
- 1:19Speaker 3: and you know, if they make one bad play and
- 1:21Speaker 3: so it's but it was a great win, really good win.
- 1:25Speaker 1: What changed up twenty They went zone and then and
- 1:28Speaker 1: just figure out the puzzle.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, again, that was where then we stopped scoring, then
- 1:33Speaker 3: we stopped defending. So you know, I thought we got
- 1:36Speaker 3: some some open looks and some shots that we would
- 1:39Speaker 3: normally make. And I thought, you know, they some of
- 1:41Speaker 3: their players took some shots that you know, I probably
- 1:44Speaker 3: would have been okay with. They knocked in some shots.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:47Speaker 3: The one kid was one for seven on the year
- 1:49Speaker 3: and knocks in two and twenty four hadn't played in
- 1:53Speaker 3: Navar and she came in and had a great game.
- 1:55Speaker 2: She really did.
- 1:56Speaker 3: She played well start to finish. But if you look
- 1:58Speaker 3: at it that way, we did a really good job
- 2:00Speaker 3: on ut'sby and Donarski. Those are their two leading scorers.
- 2:04Speaker 3: So you know, I thought our defense was good. It
- 2:06Speaker 3: was really just the lapse in our offense of execution,
- 2:09Speaker 3: I think, and some of it could have been the zone.
- 2:11Speaker 3: We haven't seen a lot of zone, so it's something
- 2:15Speaker 3: we have to work on.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Page with a solid night, Sarah really came up big.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And the thing that the two things that impressed me,
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah the fourteen points, thirteen boards, nice, six assists. We
- 2:24Speaker 1: know she passes the ball well. Five blocks tonight.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, she's you know, she's sneaky.
- 2:28Speaker 3: She doesn't she's got great feet in great hands, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: she's sneaky athletic because you don't you know, when you
- 2:35Speaker 3: look at their number five on their team, you know
- 2:37Speaker 3: she's she's big, she's athletic, she moves and Sarah doesn't
- 2:41Speaker 3: necessarily have that same look of her, but she's got
- 2:44Speaker 3: such great beat and hands and really has a great
- 2:47Speaker 3: feel for the game. I think she and Page very
- 2:50Speaker 3: much are alike in that they have a fuel for
- 2:53Speaker 3: the game. They see things, and that's why you know
- 2:55Speaker 3: where a lot of Sarah's assists come from right.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So we're mid way late stages of the fourth neither
- 3:02Speaker 1: neither team had scored in almost four minutes. Gino calls
- 3:05Speaker 1: with time out, you get a huge second hit chance
- 3:07Speaker 1: hoop from from Jennell Alfie and then Page takes over
- 3:10Speaker 1: and finish.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Jane, that was big.
- 3:12Speaker 3: You know, we got some I thought some unfortunate calls
- 3:17Speaker 3: just physical, you know, we were I didn't think they
- 3:19Speaker 3: were all fouls, but you know, the game was being
- 3:21Speaker 3: called that way, and she's a big body that takes
- 3:24Speaker 3: up space and has got some some strength to her.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But I thought that was a really big play.
- 3:30Speaker 3: You know. Sometimes you know in Page again, I think
- 3:35Speaker 3: she passed up some shots in that in that series,
- 3:40Speaker 3: shots that I thought she could have taken, but she didn't.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And and but we when she wasn't in the game,
- 3:45Speaker 3: we actually scored. And and some like I said the
- 3:48Speaker 3: last radio show, sometimes we want guys playing with her.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Not watching her play exactly.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And there were stretches in the first half where we
- 3:58Speaker 3: were playing with her and she was the one scoring,
- 4:01Speaker 3: and then there were stretches where we were watching her
- 4:03Speaker 3: play and she was still scoring. But that puts a
- 4:06Speaker 3: lot more pressure on her.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Well, that thought crossed my mind because she was making
- 4:09Speaker 1: it look so easy in the first quarter. It's like
- 4:11Speaker 1: they're going to need people to step up.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and it wasn't. I don't know.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I don't want to say step up as much as
- 4:17Speaker 3: or at least being part of it. Like yes, as
- 4:20Speaker 3: if you set the screens and you're running our stuff
- 4:22Speaker 3: and we're getting her open shots, that's different. That's the
- 4:25Speaker 3: flow of the offense, verse shot clocks winding down every
- 4:28Speaker 3: possession because we aren't getting the looks that we need
- 4:31Speaker 3: to look, you know, the looks that we need. So
- 4:35Speaker 3: but you know, she's we've got the best player in
- 4:37Speaker 3: the country, and we're fortunate and the most unselfish and
- 4:40Speaker 3: the most efficient.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So that is for sure.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Well, it's been a while.
- 4:44Speaker 3: She doesn't know I say any of this nice stuff
- 4:46Speaker 3: about her, so no one can tell her.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Keep your secrets safe with me. This place brings back
- 4:51Speaker 1: a lot of good memories. I mean, the last time
- 4:53Speaker 1: we were in here, this the ridiculous streak of fourteen
- 4:55Speaker 1: final fours in a row got underway.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good memories, you know, Although I do remember
- 5:02Speaker 3: we sat at that bench. That was the one thing,
- 5:04Speaker 3: and it looked more familiar once we got here. But
- 5:06Speaker 3: our trip, you know, you think about memories. Our trip
- 5:08Speaker 3: to North Carolina last year did not go as well
- 5:11Speaker 3: and not the way we wanted it to. So we I
- 5:13Speaker 3: think that was in the back of our minds some
- 5:15Speaker 3: you know, being on the road, first game on the road,
- 5:18Speaker 3: really wanting to play well.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So and we did for a large portion of it,
- 5:22Speaker 2: all right.
- 5:22Speaker 3: But I heard I missed the fight in the stands,
- 5:24Speaker 3: so I was a little dispted too.
- 5:25Speaker 1: My grandson was behind me, so I was. I was
- 5:27Speaker 1: messing with my grandson. He and my daughter in law.
- 5:30Speaker 3: We're here tonight.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and I heard there was a little battle. Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I love that stuff as long as I'm not involved.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Although I shouldn't say that.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I go to a hockey game, chrisy, I do I
- 5:40Speaker 2: love hockey?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Do you really?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yes? I do.
- 5:42Speaker 3: I love hockey because it's the only sport like you
- 5:44Speaker 3: can hit and you don't get in trouble.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And I find that to be and I like, I do.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I enjoy hockey.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You're my I mean, I've always appreciated you, but the
- 5:52Speaker 1: level of appreciation, yeah, I.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Have aggressive tendencies.
- 5:55Speaker 3: That's why I have to find sports where you can
- 5:57Speaker 3: hit and not get in trouble.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You should be you should be next to me during
- 6:01Speaker 1: a close game. When things go wrong, I get hit,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah by number five, number five, Yeah, I bet.
- 6:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Safe travels home, and we'll see you for a big
- 6:09Speaker 1: night Wednesday. All right, they got a few friends coming
- 6:11Speaker 1: to visit.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Huh, yeah we do.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, thank you, You're welcome.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Chris
