- 0:06Speaker 1: Sure, it's weird. Did you see during the week Trevor
- 0:09Speaker 1: Long was found in a park shirtless fighting with Carl Stefanovic.
- 0:15Speaker 2: And I did hear about that?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Actually, I mean, Trevor Long is going to be here
- 0:20Speaker 1: in this studio talking about what was that friggin' um
- 0:23Speaker 1: what was that lgb Q pageant?
- 0:26Speaker 2: He went to what's that the one you hosted? Didn't
- 0:29Speaker 2: you do commentary for one of those?
- 0:30Speaker 1: That was a that was the Australian Cheerleading Championships?
- 0:33Speaker 2: That that won't be happening again. I sort of read
- 0:36Speaker 2: some great feedback we got ye please, So after we
- 0:39Speaker 2: revealed our legal issues with a certain a certain company,
- 0:47Speaker 2: a certain companies and podcast previously known as Yes Yes,
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yes anyway, we got some really good feedback. So some
- 0:55Speaker 2: new comments that have come through on Apple podcasts. Thank
- 0:57Speaker 2: you for leaving these best car podcast Not my words
- 1:02Speaker 2: are the words of Josh nine eight three zero three.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Thanks you absolutely love the podcast. The boys are fantastic,
- 1:08Speaker 2: clearly better than any other Aussie car related podcast. Hey again,
- 1:13Speaker 2: not my words, I.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Mean if the charts were to go by, Yeah, we're
- 1:18Speaker 1: not just like the greatest here in Australia.
- 1:21Speaker 2: The UK are.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Listening to a shout out to you guys, you Africa,
- 1:24Speaker 1: South Africa and ladies and gentlemen. We are now the
- 1:27Speaker 1: second biggest car podcast in South Korea.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I've always said it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I've always said my good friends in South Korea.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I love kim Chi.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I love what's that letters called?
- 1:40Speaker 2: That's kim Chi kim cheesus.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I thought you were talking about that emperor.
- 1:44Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about anyway.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I thought that was a politician.
- 1:47Speaker 2: So the corn guy, Thank you, good music, the best
- 1:50Speaker 2: common podcast out there. Comedy podcast again not my words,
- 1:53Speaker 2: makes me laugh every episode and sometimes they even get
- 1:55Speaker 2: to a car review. And then this one came through,
- 1:58Speaker 2: which we're gonna have to Trevor about. The title is wow,
- 2:03Speaker 2: that's terrible accurate so far this is I don't have
- 2:06Speaker 2: a problem with that. Barry is zero one, nine seventy okay,
- 2:10Speaker 2: very unique name, he wrote. I heard of this show recently,
- 2:14Speaker 2: so I listened to the episode with Trevor Long. I'm
- 2:16Speaker 2: not sure who Gordy Waters is, but it was not
- 2:20Speaker 2: all that funny, just poor humor. I watched some of
- 2:23Speaker 2: Paul's car reviews thank you, and they are good. Thank you.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So I assumed this would be a podcast version if that,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but it's really not. What's this guy's name, Barry zero
- 2:34Speaker 2: one nine seventy.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Okay, Barry. If you wanted an audio version of a
- 2:40Speaker 1: man in a sensible pair of slacks with shoes from
- 2:44Speaker 1: Rivers and a fucking T shirt that's a little bit
- 2:48Speaker 1: too small, then with all due respect, go fuck yourself.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And at the end of the show, we've got some
- 2:57Speaker 2: emails to read out as well, because we've got a
- 2:59Speaker 2: stack of those that I haven't really replied to you yet,
- 3:01Speaker 2: so I've just left it for the show. So right, anyway,
- 3:03Speaker 2: let's do some news on hopefully Treviton.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Thank you for telling us what's coming up on the show.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You're very professional today, Paul Paolo, You're very professional.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Racist.
- 3:12Speaker 1: No, I'm not. I love you. By the way, I'm
- 3:14Speaker 1: starting to call you Pallo for now on.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's given. That's not my name, it's power, but no,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you just pronounce it however you like.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Sorry badly, you know I do you know how I
- 3:25Speaker 1: found out your real name.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Was a legal letter.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It was like, okay, so I'm being sued, But who
- 3:35Speaker 1: the fuck is pavl Merrek? Who's Pavlo Marrek, there must
- 3:42Speaker 1: be a mistake.
- 3:43Speaker 2: The backstory to that is my actual name is Pavlet,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and the reason I use Paul is because people like
- 3:48Speaker 2: Gordy can't pronounce it. And I went to a very
- 3:51Speaker 2: very very very low rent public primary school and it
- 3:57Speaker 2: was full of all right heartbreak high anyway, basically we
- 4:01Speaker 2: all went to a low rent public school. No, no,
- 4:03Speaker 2: this one was the type where it should have metal detectors,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but it didn't at the time.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Anyway, get your school bag burnt, good lunchtime. There's Paul's
- 4:12Speaker 1: Little Angela's ashes sub story. And now look at you. Now,
- 4:17Speaker 1: So hey, let's get into some car news, because we're
- 4:19Speaker 1: a car podcast, remember that. So this is interesting and
- 4:23Speaker 1: I can't really don't really get the mats on this.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You you were in the hallway and you're telling me, Hey,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know what's interesting that we should talk about, And
- 4:29Speaker 1: I said, no, please tell me, and you said, use.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Car prices are down by ten percent, but still fifty
- 4:34Speaker 1: percent higher than they were three years ago, pretty covid.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And I went past me that full fat coke.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And that full fat donner and I'll get back to you.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Let me explain this. So there's a there's a research
- 4:46Speaker 2: firm out there called Moody's. And I was going to say, Nick,
- 4:53Speaker 2: give my wife, but I'm not going to say that
- 4:56Speaker 2: this Moody's, but she listened to this podcast. I'm not
- 4:59Speaker 2: going to say the mood is. So what they've found,
- 5:03Speaker 2: and they've been tracking the used car price index, is
- 5:06Speaker 2: that since COVID started, used car prices peaked roughly midway
- 5:10Speaker 2: through last year twenty twenty two. They're now up by
- 5:13Speaker 2: a little over fifty percent in terms of the wholesale
- 5:16Speaker 2: price of used cars. That's on the way down now,
- 5:19Speaker 2: So it has peaked and it's now coming back down.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And the big advantage of that is that that has
- 5:24Speaker 2: a flow on effect and new cars as well, because
- 5:27Speaker 2: as interest rates go up, people start canceling new car
- 5:29Speaker 2: orders and moving to the second hand market. The second
- 5:32Speaker 2: hand market then becomes cheaper, but because you don't have
- 5:35Speaker 2: as much flow on too, that.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It almost somewhat starts to correct itself.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Right exactly, so they reckon. There's probably still another ten
- 5:42Speaker 2: percent to come out of it this year, but it
- 5:43Speaker 2: will still be higher than pre COVID levels, so we
- 5:47Speaker 2: will still be paying more, and we are seeing some
- 5:51Speaker 2: examples out there of people paying ten grand for a
- 5:54Speaker 2: ten year old car for their kid that's done two
- 5:57Speaker 2: hundred thousand k's and that's just insane because ten grand
- 5:59Speaker 2: used to buy like a low mileage Master two, which
- 6:02Speaker 2: is a car you'd have your child in. So yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I think that it is getting better, but it is
- 6:07Speaker 2: still way too expensive. And my advice is be careful
- 6:10Speaker 2: what you're buying secondhand, because a car that you're paying
- 6:13Speaker 2: fifty percent more for now, in two or three years time,
- 6:17Speaker 2: when this level's out, you're not going to be able
- 6:19Speaker 2: to get that fifty percent back on what it would
- 6:21Speaker 2: have already depreciated between now and then. So and that
- 6:24Speaker 2: applies also to electric cars that a lot of model
- 6:27Speaker 2: threes have been dumped on the market, and if you
- 6:30Speaker 2: end up with one of those.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Let me tell you they are not cheap enough, like
- 6:33Speaker 1: they need to just plummet.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Because but that's what's happening in the States. You're seeing
- 6:41Speaker 2: the prices come out of the new teslas. That's affecting
- 6:44Speaker 2: the second hand right yeah, well here as well, But
- 6:47Speaker 2: the problem is the secondhand one. Some of the cheaper
- 6:49Speaker 2: ones have sixty eighty one hundred thousand k's on them,
- 6:52Speaker 2: and as a result of that, you're buying one now
- 6:53Speaker 2: because you think it's a bargain. As battery technology advances,
- 6:56Speaker 2: in two or three years time, you've got a plasma
- 6:59Speaker 2: TV whenever ones using LED TVs that you paid too
- 7:02Speaker 2: much for because you use car prices were up and
- 7:04Speaker 2: the batteries next to useless compared to the new stuff
- 7:07Speaker 2: on the market.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So personally, because I looked into this, I looked at
- 7:10Speaker 1: buying secondhand a secondhand ev I just I'm now well
- 7:15Speaker 1: clear of it. I will not touch it. I'm not
- 7:17Speaker 1: touching it because it's not worth it. Also, like we're
- 7:20Speaker 1: starting to kind of really realize the degeneration of what
- 7:24Speaker 1: these batteries are doing in say a Tesla after a
- 7:26Speaker 1: couple of years.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Like, look that I'm not so concerned about that. Some
- 7:30Speaker 2: will degrade more than others depending on the type of
- 7:32Speaker 2: driving and charging that you're doing. It's more just that
- 7:35Speaker 2: you've got an outdated thing that really can't be fixed
- 7:39Speaker 2: unless you replace the battery. That is the core thing
- 7:41Speaker 2: that's outdated, that is where the majority of the cost is.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And if you think about a traditional internal combustion cars,
- 7:47Speaker 2: they have technical advances every now and then, but it
- 7:49Speaker 2: doesn't make your vehicle I'm not gonna say obsolete, but
- 7:53Speaker 2: far less good, you know, compared to the rest of them.
- 7:56Speaker 2: So I think that's probably just something i'd be weary
- 7:59Speaker 2: of on the seat can hand market. And also just
- 8:01Speaker 2: buying yourself a lemon that's going to cost you a
- 8:03Speaker 2: heap of money if you're paying more for it. Now,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you're going to tip more money into it to fix it,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and then it's going to be worth virtually nothing in
- 8:09Speaker 2: two or three years time when you factor in all
- 8:11Speaker 2: the money you've spent on it. So if you can
- 8:14Speaker 2: buy a new car because you're covered by a new
- 8:16Speaker 2: car warranty.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But I was going to say, you know what's interesting,
- 8:19Speaker 1: the best deal you can get is a new car.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Like if you're looking for a cheap car for your
- 8:25Speaker 1: grandma or your kid or a run around town, and
- 8:27Speaker 1: you're looking at say an MG three, right, you're paying
- 8:31Speaker 1: like seventeen grand And let's.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Not get out aboutselves.
- 8:35Speaker 3: What do you mean.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Of those?
- 8:38Speaker 2: What do you mean I'll recommend one.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Well, there's people out there that need a car. Look,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I don't care, I'm just using them as in grample
- 8:45Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. My point is moody, like, what's affordable is
- 8:51Speaker 1: a brand new car over the over the second hand ones?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:54Speaker 2: The point of that is right, and that's the thing.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I know that some cars like Arab four two year
- 8:59Speaker 2: weight whatever, you might not want to wait for one
- 9:01Speaker 2: of those. But if it means you buy one of
- 9:03Speaker 2: these Chinese SUVs, you're getting a seven yu warranty. It'll
- 9:07Speaker 2: depreciate probably a whole lot more than the Red four will.
- 9:10Speaker 2: But ultimately you're not doing what you're going to do
- 9:12Speaker 2: on the second hand market, which is buying a car
- 9:14Speaker 2: that's potentially out of warranty or nearly out of warranty,
- 9:16Speaker 2: and then you go to sell it without warranty. It's
- 9:18Speaker 2: then not really going to be worth much. So I
- 9:20Speaker 2: think it is just worth keeping that in mind on
- 9:23Speaker 2: used cars. So my tuned out, Yeah, I noticed.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm basically waiting for Trev to come in here because
- 9:30Speaker 1: I'm going to wait to see who passes more gas
- 9:33Speaker 1: mel Trev.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Have you ever been to China?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yes? I have?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Interesting Where did you go?
- 9:38Speaker 1: Did you say China or Vagina? What's your point?
- 9:45Speaker 3: So?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Did you know that Chinese car exports to Australia are
- 9:49Speaker 2: up by six hundred percent over the past four years. Controversially,
- 9:52Speaker 2: we are slapped with a lot of tariffs and other
- 9:56Speaker 2: stuff from China, but we are buying more Chinese made
- 10:00Speaker 2: vehicles than ever before, like a lot more, and a
- 10:03Speaker 2: lot of that comes down to Tesla as well. Some
- 10:05Speaker 2: people don't know that you're Tesla's China Chinese. Matter of fact,
- 10:09Speaker 2: we made in China. So I don't have an issue
- 10:11Speaker 2: with it, because you know, I use a phone that's
- 10:13Speaker 2: probably made I think iPhone's made in China. We buy
- 10:16Speaker 2: a lot of products that are made in China. But
- 10:17Speaker 2: I just thought it was an interesting thing. A lot
- 10:19Speaker 2: of people don't actually think about that when they're buying
- 10:23Speaker 2: their car, and a lot of people I love in
- 10:25Speaker 2: the comments they jump up and down about the you know,
- 10:27Speaker 2: the influx of cars that are coming from China. But
- 10:31Speaker 2: what does it actually mean and what is the problem
- 10:34Speaker 2: with it? I guess is my question.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Is there a problem with it?
- 10:37Speaker 2: I don't think so, but a lot of commenters seem
- 10:39Speaker 2: to think there is.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm just Daniel, he's commenting on it. What's the problem? Oh,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know what, I know, I know who you're saying,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I know you're talking about that sort of that demographic
- 10:50Speaker 1: of people who are like, you're.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Buying a bloody Chinese cat, They're fucking horrible. I tell
- 10:57Speaker 4: you what else is horrible, bloody race Rand, We're going
- 11:01Speaker 4: to fucking cornella on that thing. It's bloody horrible. And
- 11:07Speaker 4: tell you what else is horrible. I've got a terrible
- 11:10Speaker 4: bell situation. I got it back from when I came
- 11:15Speaker 4: back from Vietnam. I'm so lonely, you know what. I
- 11:22Speaker 4: think I might comment on the Drivers Show podcast and
- 11:27Speaker 4: Shay how read it out again.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Anyway, that sort of people, I think so so Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I just thought it was an interesting stat The other
- 11:37Speaker 2: thing as well, is that when your car comes from China,
- 11:39Speaker 2: it is cheaper to build, typically depending on where it's
- 11:41Speaker 2: it's manufactured. And because of the amount of goods that
- 11:44Speaker 2: come from China, the economies of scale are there to
- 11:47Speaker 2: ship it here for cheaper.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And they can generally get it here quicker like a
- 11:51Speaker 1: lot of Chinese manufacturers are delivering the goods by.
- 11:56Speaker 2: D Yeah, and Tesla has been reducing their prices globally
- 11:59Speaker 2: on the to as demand tapers off, and I think
- 12:03Speaker 2: that's just showing you, there is a lot of margin
- 12:05Speaker 2: in cars, especially these cars that are built in China,
- 12:07Speaker 2: and that perhaps other brands have a lot to answer for.
- 12:10Speaker 2: They've been jacking their prices up during COVID under the
- 12:13Speaker 2: auspice of semiconductor shortages, shipping costs. It's like Quantus. Every
- 12:18Speaker 2: time there's some fuel price surge, they go, oh, we've
- 12:21Speaker 2: got to put that up. It never comes back down.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And it's the same story here with new cars. We're
- 12:25Speaker 2: really not seeing them reducing price as quickly as we've
- 12:28Speaker 2: seen them going up in price, even though market conditions
- 12:30Speaker 2: far more favorable.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So do you think Tesla's in a concerning place right now?
- 12:35Speaker 1: Because I feel like there could be a little bit
- 12:38Speaker 1: of who are on the horizon. At one point they
- 12:40Speaker 1: kind of had the monopoly, and now a lot of
- 12:42Speaker 1: these car companies are really sort of catching up.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is something I'll be keen to ask
- 12:47Speaker 2: Trevor if he actually comes in. But I think Tesla
- 12:50Speaker 2: there the current market cap of that company is four
- 12:54Speaker 2: hundred and eighteen billion dollars. Now Tesla really only well,
- 12:59Speaker 2: they didn't actually make that many cars. If you look
- 13:01Speaker 2: at the major car brands out there, they make roughly
- 13:04Speaker 2: give or take a similar amount of cars to Ford
- 13:08Speaker 2: on just one model. So Ford makes around a midion
- 13:10Speaker 2: F one fifties a year. Tesla manufacturers around a million
- 13:14Speaker 2: new cars a year. Yet they're valued at many multiples
- 13:17Speaker 2: above Ford. The reason for that is it's valued as
- 13:21Speaker 2: a tech company because of the promise of things to
- 13:24Speaker 2: come for Tesla in terms of autonomy and stuff. But
- 13:28Speaker 2: ultimately we're seeing a lot of that stuff really isn't
- 13:30Speaker 2: working that well. At the moment. The share price is
- 13:32Speaker 2: rebounding a little bit, but with Elon Musk busy doing
- 13:35Speaker 2: other stuff at the moment, I just think that they
- 13:38Speaker 2: really need to get their act together and get on
- 13:41Speaker 2: with it. Their concept of having a car that looks
- 13:44Speaker 2: the same on the outside but is updated on the inside.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's redundant.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I just don't think that'll work when I see so
- 13:51Speaker 2: many model wires out there, and in fact, I'm writing
- 13:54Speaker 2: a story at the moment about my model why, which
- 13:55Speaker 2: we'll talk about on the next episode. But they are everywhere.
- 13:58Speaker 2: They like the new camera, and each time I see one,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I think, God, the thing is ugly. So I tried
- 14:03Speaker 2: to tell you, when you're inside it, you don't notice,
- 14:05Speaker 2: but when you see it, you're like, it's really not
- 14:08Speaker 2: a nice looking car.
- 14:10Speaker 1: But it's like my ex girlfriend. I mean, when I
- 14:12Speaker 1: was inside it, I didn't notice.
- 14:14Speaker 2: But Jesus Christ, oh, I see someone at the front door.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Oh who's that? I don't know, but the imposing figure,
- 14:23Speaker 2: I think that might be Trevor.
- 14:24Speaker 3: To get him.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I don't think that's Trevor.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I know.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think that's my divorced accountant who has a drinking problem.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And I think he did the tax return on the
- 14:36Speaker 1: bonnet of his car. It gets actually, and then he
- 14:38Speaker 1: just he just ashed out of dart on the windscreen
- 14:42Speaker 1: of his car, and oh no, wait, that is Trevor.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Come on in, Trevor.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Have you noticed how out of focus gord he is?
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually said that to him. His picture is
- 14:53Speaker 2: very pixelated, and that often happens with photoshop when you
- 14:55Speaker 2: try and sort of horizontally shrink things.
- 14:58Speaker 3: So I'm just distracted. A note. I heard of this
- 15:02Speaker 3: show recently, listening to the episode with Trevor Long. I'm
- 15:04Speaker 3: not sure who Gordy Waters is, but not at all funny,
- 15:07Speaker 3: just poor humor. I watched some of Paul's reviews and
- 15:09Speaker 3: they're good. I assume this would be a podcast version
- 15:12Speaker 3: of that, but it's.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Really not well played.
- 15:15Speaker 2: That's a recent review on this show.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yes, getting injured, You.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Did that really well. We actually, honestly I read that
- 15:22Speaker 1: and I thought this stinks of Trevor Long.
- 15:24Speaker 2: No.
- 15:24Speaker 3: No, I'm just going to say this right now to
- 15:27Speaker 3: Barry one nine seven reach out FM dot com. I'll
- 15:30Speaker 3: send you some merchandise. Man, that's a great review.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Send your merchandise yourself, alright, I'll send him a was
- 15:37Speaker 1: your Christmas party? By the way? Was it was?
- 15:39Speaker 4: It?
- 15:39Speaker 1: Just you go out with yourself on the photo.
- 15:41Speaker 3: You know when you're you know, just kiss your kiss
- 15:43Speaker 3: your hand, just really tongue right in the Handez, there
- 15:48Speaker 3: is no one else.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Can you give us a little bit of an audio
- 15:50Speaker 1: description of how that would?
- 15:53Speaker 3: I'm not doing it again.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Do it again?
- 15:55Speaker 3: You missed your opportunity. Isolate the audio, work it out.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Wow. How is your Chris?
- 16:00Speaker 1: He's already tech flex He's come back from his little
- 16:04Speaker 1: cees or whatever, some bloody some gang bang in Germany?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Where'd you go to Germany? That's sorry? In Berlin in
- 16:16Speaker 3: September right, Barcelona is mobile will Congress ces is in
- 16:21Speaker 3: Las Vegas.
- 16:21Speaker 1: In Vegas. You've come back from Vegas.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Back from Vegas.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Yeah, did you get those you know, those little hooker
- 16:27Speaker 1: cars on the street.
- 16:28Speaker 3: You know they don't have them anymore. That was I
- 16:31Speaker 3: always that wastwhere. Now there's people walking around with big
- 16:36Speaker 3: thirty two inch screens on their back with a QR code.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Oh really, I'm thinking this is not Vegas. Come on,
- 16:42Speaker 3: but then it is Vegas because it's just more screens.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Well, can I just share very quickly one of the
- 16:47Speaker 2: a story about those cards. When I was there with
- 16:49Speaker 2: some mates. Probably she wasn't what she said she was
- 16:51Speaker 2: going to do it six years.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Ago, all work up with a basoline on his butt.
- 16:55Speaker 2: One of the one of the guys I was with,
- 16:57Speaker 2: got a bit hammered and he accepted one of the cards,
- 17:00Speaker 2: and they said, well you'll get free entry, free drinks,
- 17:03Speaker 2: and free transfers to the to the club club and anyway,
- 17:08Speaker 2: We're like, okay, let's do this. And I said to
- 17:10Speaker 2: the guys, this will not be free. I guarantee it.
- 17:12Speaker 2: And the limo rolled up and it was some blokes
- 17:14Speaker 2: old suv. We all pile into this thing and arrive
- 17:18Speaker 2: at the club and the guy goes, who's got my tip?
- 17:21Speaker 2: And I said tip. The guy told us it was free,
- 17:23Speaker 2: and he goes, no, you need to give me a tip,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and I said, okay, how much do I give you? Guys?
- 17:28Speaker 2: About one hundred dollars. I'm like, I literally could have
- 17:30Speaker 2: charted a private jet to get you for cheaper. Went inside,
- 17:33Speaker 2: the drinks were not free, and the club patrons were
- 17:37Speaker 2: not very nice.
- 17:38Speaker 1: That were criminals and.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Bikes at the door. You should have been a dead giveaway.
- 17:45Speaker 2: No, Donald was not there.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You're at the top of the stairs looking down like,
- 17:48Speaker 1: what is that a canoe?
- 17:49Speaker 2: Down?
- 17:49Speaker 3: Man?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Top it?
- 17:53Speaker 3: They're like, whatever you've just heard was not We just
- 17:56Speaker 3: heard that's been hited out.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Anyway, let's talk c Yes, Trevor Long's here, everybody in
- 18:01Speaker 1: the flesh, and I honestly thank you for not glassing me.
- 18:05Speaker 1: That's a plus. I can't promise the same back.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Oh you mean smashing in the face with the bottle. Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 3: the day.
- 18:12Speaker 1: There's a reason why we've got class.
- 18:15Speaker 3: It's like going to the cricket. You can't take glass anywhere.
- 18:17Speaker 2: No, I'm interested. BMW prior to See Yes, started doing
- 18:21Speaker 2: a whole bunch of advertising on their Twitter that was
- 18:23Speaker 2: random stuff about a new service they were launching. Can
- 18:27Speaker 2: you run me through what D is or I still
- 18:30Speaker 2: don't understand what that's to be.
- 18:32Speaker 3: He's a concept car. I'm going to say design. No,
- 18:35Speaker 3: I can't remember what it stands for, but design emotion
- 18:38Speaker 3: something like that. Right. Do you remember last year they
- 18:40Speaker 3: had a concept car that was black and white changing color.
- 18:44Speaker 3: It was like a kindle e ink but all over
- 18:46Speaker 3: it and you could change the color from one. It
- 18:47Speaker 3: looks pretty cool, but it looked horrible within about a
- 18:50Speaker 3: meter and a half, it just looked terrible.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like that was the sort of car
- 18:53Speaker 1: that it's cool that they came up with the concept
- 18:55Speaker 1: and that they've sort of executed it. But you know,
- 18:58Speaker 1: the triangles and stuff with the like, you could really sort.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Of it was a great way to get attention, which
- 19:03Speaker 3: is important at a show like CS. There's I always
- 19:05Speaker 3: describe CS as being about nine mcg's field space worth
- 19:10Speaker 3: of just place to walk around and show like it's
- 19:13Speaker 3: not empty, its exhibits all that space. It's crazy, so
- 19:15Speaker 3: you've got to get attention, right.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Was it like your sex bow kind of just you know.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Bigger, that's all yeah, they always want bigger. Anyways, the
- 19:22Speaker 3: color changing car was cool, but it was it was just,
- 19:25Speaker 3: you know, some sort of random car. They code it
- 19:27Speaker 3: so D is a proper concept car and sense that
- 19:30Speaker 3: it's a new new look.
- 19:31Speaker 2: I've got a bit.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Have you seen the car?
- 19:33Speaker 2: It looks like a Tarana.
- 19:34Speaker 3: It looks like a modern Tarana, and I'm like, I
- 19:36Speaker 3: would buy this tomorrow if it was a real car
- 19:40Speaker 3: full stop, as a as a body design, you know,
- 19:43Speaker 3: as a piece of automotive design. I went, geez, if
- 19:46Speaker 3: that is your new look, I'm all in.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Because that's the thing they look at. The moment they
- 19:51Speaker 2: look at the moment is a bit kind of well you.
- 19:53Speaker 3: May know about this, but I first i'd heard it.
- 19:55Speaker 3: They call it a Neier class, which assume means new class.
- 19:58Speaker 3: But twenty twenty five there's a new class, which I
- 20:00Speaker 3: assume is a new design language and all that kind
- 20:02Speaker 3: of stuff. So there was two of them, there, two
- 20:04Speaker 3: of these Tarana looking cars.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You reckon that looks like a Tarana.
- 20:08Speaker 3: May get a rear court view, that side on view,
- 20:11Speaker 3: and I think a rear court of view it made,
- 20:13Speaker 3: and also size wise, that's a rear we need a
- 20:16Speaker 3: rear quarter. Come on, mate, come on, it's his first day.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It's his first day.
- 20:19Speaker 2: There it is.
- 20:20Speaker 3: It's just a smaller.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It still doesn't look like yes.
- 20:24Speaker 3: But you don't look like you're in focus in any
- 20:26Speaker 3: of the images either. We can move on anyway like
- 20:29Speaker 3: a tech review guy.
- 20:30Speaker 1: But that's fine.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I'm still doing it. There's two of these cars, right.
- 20:33Speaker 3: One of them is pure white with yellow wheels. The
- 20:35Speaker 3: other one is fancy color changes and it's it's cool again,
- 20:39Speaker 3: but it's thirty two colors this time.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Now I've got to say, you know, going from red
- 20:43Speaker 3: to white to whatever, very cool. But then it in there,
- 20:46Speaker 3: let's call it a three minute loop of colors that
- 20:48Speaker 3: we just go through. There was one where it was
- 20:49Speaker 3: white with like an M stripe in a blue and
- 20:53Speaker 3: a red stripe, and I went that that's what I do.
- 20:56Speaker 3: I drive a blue car every day, and then i'd
- 20:58Speaker 3: go for the weekends. It's going to be you know,
- 20:59Speaker 3: I thought was cool, but still up close, not overly
- 21:03Speaker 3: impressive as a technology. So I think the color changing stuff,
- 21:06Speaker 3: forget all that for a minute. You get inside it
- 21:08Speaker 3: and it's all about, you know, a journey, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 3: you've got to sign up for a freaking avatar, and
- 21:12Speaker 3: you've got to create a cartoon that books. Like you
- 21:15Speaker 3: walk up to the car, it says welcome. Trevor and
- 21:19Speaker 3: I went.
- 21:21Speaker 1: The first person who said.
- 21:23Speaker 3: In the room, and I'm like, I here my name,
- 21:25Speaker 3: so and on the on the window you're standing outside
- 21:28Speaker 3: the car. On the window, the driver's window is your
- 21:31Speaker 3: cartoon avatar. It says welcome, your name and everything. So
- 21:34Speaker 3: it's kind of cool. And I'm thinking, is this you
- 21:36Speaker 3: know digital glass something. It's just projectors. There's just little
- 21:39Speaker 3: projectors in the anyway. So you sit down, you sit
- 21:41Speaker 3: in and then they've got this whole virtual experience. Now
- 21:44Speaker 3: what I took from it was that they want metaverse
- 21:47Speaker 3: and all that other bullshit that people are talking about.
- 21:49Speaker 3: But the real technology here was the head up display.
- 21:53Speaker 1: What's the biggest See that.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Biggest head up display I think today would probably be
- 21:57Speaker 3: in Murk, you know, have they have a reasonable size one.
- 21:59Speaker 3: If you put it in front of it's like a
- 22:00Speaker 3: small tablet. Let's say on the screen, this is full
- 22:04Speaker 3: width and half height, because you're never really looking over
- 22:07Speaker 3: half height.
- 22:08Speaker 2: As in over on the passenger side.
- 22:09Speaker 3: The whole width of the dashboard is hud and half
- 22:14Speaker 3: the height is potentially hard and it's look they really
- 22:18Speaker 3: I think they stuffed up badly because they talked about
- 22:20Speaker 3: things like social media. No one wants to hear about
- 22:22Speaker 3: that it's going to ruin the concept, but that there's
- 22:25Speaker 3: no screens at all in this car, No dash screen,
- 22:28Speaker 3: no infertainment screen. It's all meant to be on the window.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:34Speaker 3: They said to me, this now broad This technology will
- 22:37Speaker 3: be in the new class twenty twenty five BMW's I
- 22:41Speaker 3: don't imagine it will be as intense as this, but
- 22:43Speaker 3: I totally believe that they'll. They'll do the full projection.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And the thing that I think was most impressive was
- 22:49Speaker 3: not just your speed looks better because it's bigger, and
- 22:52Speaker 3: it's not a tiny little fucking display that you can't
- 22:54Speaker 3: quite see if you're off angle. It's just things like navigation.
- 22:59Speaker 3: You get that all me to reality navigation, which was
- 23:01Speaker 3: saying you, well, this is like drawn on the road.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Imagine you're driving along the freeway and the road it
- 23:07Speaker 3: looks normal through the vision, but then suddenly the road
- 23:10Speaker 3: becomes a blue or a yellow line which shows you
- 23:13Speaker 3: which exit to take, as if it's on the road
- 23:14Speaker 3: in front of you. It does look cool, and when
- 23:17Speaker 3: you can use the whole screen, it looks so much
- 23:20Speaker 3: better for the driver.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I reckon it'll freak people out. I don't think it's
- 23:24Speaker 1: for everyone.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I don't think it is. But then, okay, think about Warnings.
- 23:27Speaker 3: The other demo that they did before they went into
- 23:29Speaker 3: the metaverse and I tuned out and started to feel sick,
- 23:32Speaker 3: was warnings. So you've got some idiot cyclist coming down
- 23:37Speaker 3: the right hand side from a side street. It's coming
- 23:39Speaker 3: into your lane. You might have senses on a car
- 23:42Speaker 3: now that beep a bit or something, right, this thing
- 23:44Speaker 3: kind of the whole bottom of the windscreen flashes red,
- 23:48Speaker 3: you know, collision alerts, and the cyclist is highlighted by
- 23:52Speaker 3: a red square, and it follows them in augmented reality
- 23:55Speaker 3: as well, being warned like I prefer a target, but
- 24:02Speaker 3: that will get the going.
- 24:04Speaker 1: But just looking for channel email again, I'm going to
- 24:07Speaker 1: send straight to it, throwing him under the that stuff.
- 24:11Speaker 3: That stuff's cool.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well, if you can nail it, yeah, exactly, that's
- 24:14Speaker 2: the hard bit. And I think that you mentioned there
- 24:16Speaker 2: about the lanes that tech. They've started rolling that out now.
- 24:20Speaker 2: We recently drove the EQSSUV that will actually tell you
- 24:23Speaker 2: which lane you're in on the freeway, which then helps
- 24:26Speaker 2: you dictate where the EXOD is if you then add
- 24:29Speaker 2: this in as well, where you actually have it overlaid
- 24:31Speaker 2: on the screen in front of you, it is useful information.
- 24:33Speaker 2: My concern though, and I'm keen to get your both
- 24:36Speaker 2: of your views on this. Tesla was pushing hard for
- 24:40Speaker 2: full self driving and autonomy and that sort of stuff.
- 24:42Speaker 2: We've seen countless videos on the Internet of it not working,
- 24:45Speaker 2: and previously they were only manually allowing people that they
- 24:48Speaker 2: knew would be favorable. They let other people in and
- 24:51Speaker 2: then all the negative stuff started coming out. Over Christmas
- 24:54Speaker 2: they rolled out a free enhanced auto pilot thing for owners.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I tested it. It was the shittest thing I've ever
- 25:00Speaker 2: tested to change lanes like I was at Albert Park,
- 25:03Speaker 2: Like Grand Prix was crazy. Do you think that the
- 25:06Speaker 2: glosses wearing off that we're seeing manufacturers kind of stepping
- 25:09Speaker 2: back a little from that hands off driving in and
- 25:12Speaker 2: around the city. I think maybe highways that all work
- 25:14Speaker 2: in the future, But do you reckon there will be
- 25:16Speaker 2: a future where you can get into a car and
- 25:18Speaker 2: it will confidently drive around a school zone and not
- 25:21Speaker 2: run into something that shouldn't run into.
- 25:23Speaker 3: The first CSO went to was twenty twelve, and I
- 25:25Speaker 3: remember going to Lexus and all these There was a
- 25:28Speaker 3: lot more car companies there back then, but there was
- 25:29Speaker 3: a lot of talk of autonomy, and I remember I
- 25:31Speaker 3: think it was a guy a Lexis was saying, we're
- 25:33Speaker 3: still fifteen years away, you know, trying to put a
- 25:35Speaker 3: damper on it. I don't remember anyone talking about it
- 25:38Speaker 3: this year. Now there's a lot of companies Slidar and
- 25:40Speaker 3: all that stuff on the floor trying to sell it.
- 25:42Speaker 3: But it's not like Mercedes wor BMW from you know what.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I can remember just you know, sitting in cars and
- 25:47Speaker 3: looking at stuff. We're really talking about autonomy. They're talking
- 25:50Speaker 3: more about the experience, Yes, exactly, we're talking more about
- 25:53Speaker 3: the experience. I mean the best example of that is Ford.
- 25:56Speaker 3: By twenty twenty one will be selling the mass productiononymous vehicles.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I wrote in Detroit it was sick, but it.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Never happened, and it only worked in that one little Yeah, exactly.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I don't know what Gord are you are fair? You
- 26:09Speaker 3: have thought? Do you think it's coming.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I think we are a long way off from this,
- 26:13Speaker 1: a long way. I think it's also a lot to
- 26:15Speaker 1: do with social kind of change as well. I think
- 26:17Speaker 1: this is going to take a lot of convincing to people.
- 26:19Speaker 1: The augmented reality stuff. I just think it's going a
- 26:23Speaker 1: bit too overboard. I get some of it in my
- 26:25Speaker 1: car a little bit, and I just get it turned off.
- 26:27Speaker 1: My question is when does the driver's feel of the
- 26:30Speaker 1: car going to change? Because that will happen, and that's
- 26:33Speaker 1: going to happen over time, because right now, a lot
- 26:34Speaker 1: of it's intuition, do you know what I mean? And
- 26:37Speaker 1: a lot of stuff is kind of taking over.
- 26:39Speaker 3: I think that and this is the bubble we live in,
- 26:41Speaker 3: you way more than us. But you don't realize how
- 26:44Speaker 3: much of that already exists in a car. You know,
- 26:47Speaker 3: you get people buy a car today, they think adaptive
- 26:51Speaker 3: cruise controls amazing to a lot of people. Right The
- 26:54Speaker 3: fact that your car will slow when it approaches other
- 26:56Speaker 3: cars on.
- 26:57Speaker 2: A freeway, that shit's still amazing to people. Right.
- 27:00Speaker 3: So we are so far off the reality of people
- 27:03Speaker 3: finding a good lane keepersystant you know, you think about
- 27:05Speaker 3: you buy a cheap car with lankkeep assists. It's bumper,
- 27:08Speaker 3: it's bumper Bowler.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And you end up switching it off, and you switch
- 27:10Speaker 2: it off because you think it's crap, So then you assume.
- 27:13Speaker 3: And that's the mentality problem that Tesla and everyone's god is.
- 27:16Speaker 3: They think it's going to be horrible, autonomous and just
- 27:20Speaker 3: not a great feeling. But I think if you look
- 27:23Speaker 3: at I think it's OUDI they're sell in Europe, they
- 27:25Speaker 3: sell you know, it might be a eight S eight
- 27:28Speaker 3: or something like that has a freeway or auto barn
- 27:32Speaker 3: or autonomous driving, which they back, so they but sign
- 27:37Speaker 3: off on it.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Get this. So I went to Germany to test that out.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I was at the passenger seat of this car. They
- 27:41Speaker 2: called it traffic jam Assist, and it was designed to
- 27:44Speaker 2: work only up to sixty but it was hands off,
- 27:46Speaker 2: eyes off, level three and they were going to release
- 27:49Speaker 2: it with a eight, and all of a sudden they
- 27:51Speaker 2: stopped it. Oh really wouldn't because they had that issue
- 27:54Speaker 2: where they had to back it and they were originally
- 27:56Speaker 2: going to. And then there was a whole bunch of
- 27:58Speaker 2: calamity with lawyers.
- 27:59Speaker 3: We all know the lawyers can be problematic.
- 28:02Speaker 1: They've no children. Do we bring up your employers or.
- 28:06Speaker 3: They're not my employment. I'm self employed.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Oh okay, wow, you're associates.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But yeah, I think that I don't know. I just
- 28:15Speaker 2: don't love the eye. And I also I don't consent
- 28:17Speaker 2: to being on the road when some dickhead and his
- 28:19Speaker 2: Tesla has got full self driving.
- 28:21Speaker 3: In America, it's my biggest fear because you're passing someone
- 28:24Speaker 3: on the road. Because we pretty much always have a
- 28:26Speaker 3: car when we're in America, especially for seous we're there
- 28:29Speaker 3: for twelve thirty days. We're driving around and be escalade
- 28:31Speaker 3: or something, right, and you drive past tesla and I
- 28:34Speaker 3: always look in are they one hand on, one finger on?
- 28:37Speaker 2: And what are you looking for?
- 28:39Speaker 3: Thelbums? You want more than a finger? Right?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Well, there was that a bit of a three finger man.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Full fist if you like wow, I mean you've got
- 28:48Speaker 3: to keep the weight on the steering wheel. If you
- 28:50Speaker 3: don't keep the weight on the steering wheel, if.
- 28:52Speaker 1: We lose Trevor in this building, we just have to
- 28:55Speaker 1: follow the yellow drop road. That's all we need to do.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I think that the challenge is see here's what I
- 29:04Speaker 3: want to see. One of my favorite cars I ever
- 29:06Speaker 3: owned was a BMW three zero before I had a
- 29:08Speaker 3: family and kids and couldn't afford it. Let alone could
- 29:10Speaker 3: fit them right. I loved it for its drive, it's
- 29:13Speaker 3: technology and everything, but I want a BMW that has
- 29:17Speaker 3: things like the augmented navigation once if you're tortured, because
- 29:20Speaker 3: this is the big problem I handover of a new car.
- 29:22Speaker 3: How long are they spending with people. It's like you
- 29:24Speaker 3: need the team to take you on a drive for
- 29:27Speaker 3: an hour before you get it. Given the key warnings,
- 29:30Speaker 3: I think anything safety is awesome and I think that
- 29:33Speaker 3: the good companies, and I'm suggesting Tesla's not one of them,
- 29:37Speaker 3: ben W, Mercedes, Audi, they're the companies that I look
- 29:40Speaker 3: to and go. Man, their warnings are amazing, and I
- 29:42Speaker 3: want that. I want more warnings. I want more help
- 29:45Speaker 3: as a driver because we all stumble at times, get
- 29:48Speaker 3: distracted or whatever it is. So if it's a windscreen
- 29:51Speaker 3: going red, you know, literally flashing at me, that makes
- 29:54Speaker 3: me throttle off, or it does it automatically, if it's
- 29:57Speaker 3: highlighting something bad, even if it's just just subtly because
- 30:01Speaker 3: it's a pedestrian on the side of the road, things
- 30:03Speaker 3: like that, Oh just say, you know, we think that
- 30:05Speaker 3: pedestrian is going to walk out.
- 30:06Speaker 2: That's correctly right.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I'd love to know if there's ever been a study
- 30:09Speaker 1: of like the past ten years with the tech that's
- 30:11Speaker 1: now in cars, because arguably we're driving the safest cars
- 30:15Speaker 1: we've ever driven. I wonder if there is the road
- 30:18Speaker 1: told to see.
- 30:19Speaker 3: The problem number of cars, number of people. It's really
- 30:22Speaker 3: hard to get that data. But I think where I
- 30:24Speaker 3: have admiration is someone like Volva. You know, their commitment
- 30:28Speaker 3: to essentially I can't remember the number of the day,
- 30:30Speaker 3: but it's no deaths in a new Volvo from let's
- 30:33Speaker 3: say twenty twenty six or something like that. They they
- 30:35Speaker 3: believe their cars are going to be not just safe
- 30:37Speaker 3: enough because Volvos have always been a level of safe, right,
- 30:40Speaker 3: but smart enough to help stop things from happening that
- 30:43Speaker 3: are happening. That's awesome. Let's talk about that more than
- 30:48Speaker 3: some bloke with cameras on a car creating autonomy. I
- 30:50Speaker 3: just think that's the story.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree. And that's a thing with
- 30:54Speaker 2: Tesla now they've moved away from any other sensus aside
- 30:56Speaker 2: from camera, and that is the biggest rookie era because
- 30:59Speaker 2: you can never have too many senses in my opinion,
- 31:01Speaker 2: And if you had a radar on a car, why
- 31:03Speaker 2: would you not use that as redundancy that if a
- 31:05Speaker 2: camera detects like my car phantom breaks, if it detects
- 31:08Speaker 2: an overpass that it slams the brakes on for and
- 31:10Speaker 2: the radar says, hey, there's actually nothing there. You can
- 31:12Speaker 2: use those systems to learn.
- 31:13Speaker 3: But now there, father, isn't there an ex ninety or
- 31:17Speaker 3: something that has like light on the top of the windscreen,
- 31:23Speaker 3: radar in the front, and then cameras and it's like, yeah, cool,
- 31:26Speaker 3: give me everything and you make a judgment on what
- 31:28Speaker 3: you're seeing because that's what I.
- 31:30Speaker 2: But just cameras really so stupid. The amount of times
- 31:33Speaker 2: we're driving in winter where you'll get a camera fog
- 31:35Speaker 2: up and warnings about this camera isn't working anymore. I
- 31:38Speaker 2: mean it's it just shows you that it's still not
- 31:40Speaker 2: there yet.
- 31:41Speaker 3: How old was the article? Was it only recently you
- 31:43Speaker 3: published an article about your Why Yeah, we mentioned we're
- 31:48Speaker 3: gonna we're.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Gonna chat about this in our next episode, But my god,
- 31:51Speaker 2: they went to town on me. And I've just never
- 31:54Speaker 2: buy one. No, And this is why I kind of
- 31:57Speaker 2: want to sell one, because I'm just sick of the
- 31:58Speaker 2: Karens and all the other so it has to have
- 32:01Speaker 2: to come.
- 32:01Speaker 3: In and nominally Jason, but okay, go on, but yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 3: those people.
- 32:04Speaker 1: In my case it's Barry.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Daniel.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Daniel, Dan, you'll drop off.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Okay, See Daniel, you know you're in a bit of
- 32:15Speaker 1: strife when even Trevor saying, go fuck yourself, Daniel.
- 32:20Speaker 3: That's what I wrote down. I didn't want you to
- 32:21Speaker 3: say it, Jesus.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Aside from BMW other interesting car stuff at c Yes,
- 32:26Speaker 2: you mentioned there weren't as many car brands there is.
- 32:29Speaker 2: There's still an overtone with some of the other companies,
- 32:31Speaker 2: Like we're talking newer versions of Apple Car Play, Android
- 32:35Speaker 2: Order as well rolling out. Do you see periphery stuff increasing.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Heaps of periphery stuff. Google was big talking about in
- 32:40Speaker 3: the next version of Andrew Orto. I didn't go deep
- 32:42Speaker 3: into it because iteration of that shit happens every six months.
- 32:46Speaker 3: It's hard to keep track of. But Google has a
- 32:48Speaker 3: big presence there, kind of overarching the show, trying to
- 32:51Speaker 3: make sure, like Amazon, they're there because everything can have Amazon.
- 32:54Speaker 3: They want it to be seen that way what used
- 32:56Speaker 3: to be. Have you been to see this haven't you
- 32:58Speaker 3: No never Okay, used to be what was called the
- 33:00Speaker 3: North Wall.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Which Tom which is very similar.
- 33:07Speaker 3: But like I remember there being already being w C
- 33:10Speaker 3: because everyone is there. Now you get these kind of
- 33:12Speaker 3: overarching brands like Ram was there because they had this,
- 33:15Speaker 3: they had their electric Weirdly, it showed up on the
- 33:18Speaker 3: third day of the show. The first two days of
- 33:20Speaker 3: the show empty, so I think they announced it in
- 33:22Speaker 3: the middle of the show and brought it there. It
- 33:23Speaker 3: was so weird that it.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Wasn't basically there. Yep.
- 33:27Speaker 3: It literally was wheeled in one night in the middle
- 33:30Speaker 3: of its four day show. The fourth day is half like
- 33:33Speaker 3: a half day. They wielded in on the night.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Story That sounds like me handing in an assignment. I'm
- 33:40Speaker 1: just going to slip this in the teachers and no
- 33:43Speaker 1: one notices was the same.
- 33:45Speaker 3: They had some freaky cool Persia might have been Persia
- 33:47Speaker 3: had this freaky cool looking card. They brought it in
- 33:49Speaker 3: the middle of the show. But you know a lot
- 33:51Speaker 3: of concepts, something called light speed or something that's an
- 33:55Speaker 3: electric solar thing. But the problem is, because you have
- 33:58Speaker 3: this lack of big brand and big stalls, big big exhibits,
- 34:03Speaker 3: you end up with a lot of stuff that's affiliated
- 34:05Speaker 3: with cars, like light, our senses and you can nav
- 34:07Speaker 3: and all this kind of stuff that isn't really easy
- 34:10Speaker 3: to You can't just walk by and go what is this?
- 34:12Speaker 3: You've got to spend two hours. I'm like, man, I've
- 34:14Speaker 3: got things to do with We're not going to I'm
- 34:16Speaker 3: going to talk to gaudio. If I can't disseminate it
- 34:19Speaker 3: in thirty seconds, he's never going to get it right. Facts,
- 34:22Speaker 3: that's true. So I think that's a challenge for it.
- 34:26Speaker 3: But I actually think it's that's a pandemic thing. I
- 34:27Speaker 3: think that last year Mercedes was going to be there
- 34:31Speaker 3: and they literally abandoned like a week out. Their floor
- 34:34Speaker 3: space was just empty, which was twenty five thirty percent
- 34:37Speaker 3: or so. Last year was very weird. LG was the same,
- 34:40Speaker 3: Like you're talking the two biggest companies world, Elgie and Samsung.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Last year Sampsung went all out. LG they you know
- 34:46Speaker 3: that kind a basketball court style would had that and
- 34:50Speaker 3: that was it. QR codes to scan fucking.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Really, that's the marketing chip, just chucking some vapor on
- 34:56Speaker 1: the floor and they were going, what are we going
- 34:58Speaker 1: to do?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Anyway? So this year had Mercedes, you had BMW, but
- 35:02Speaker 3: there was there was a few American brands, vin Fast,
- 35:05Speaker 3: that a Vietnamese mob what's the Faraday? Weren't there in
- 35:10Speaker 3: the big way. The car was there on a stand,
- 35:12Speaker 3: but it wasn't there in a big way. You know.
- 35:13Speaker 3: There was no overarching kind of theme or talk or
- 35:16Speaker 3: anything like that which there has been before. If there
- 35:19Speaker 3: was a theme, it was electric because there was the
- 35:21Speaker 3: RAM and there was a deep plug in hybrid.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I think yeah, they launched the Avenger or whatever.
- 35:28Speaker 3: And then Avenger. Yeah, Avenger, it's an X Men movie,
- 35:32Speaker 3: Captain America. Was there a driver? Yeah, I've never seen
- 35:35Speaker 3: the movies, so I wouldn't.
- 35:35Speaker 1: It's a good gear from Trevor. Should put that in
- 35:37Speaker 1: the promo.
- 35:38Speaker 2: But you know what with I've been to Seema a
- 35:40Speaker 2: few times. I love Seema. I think Seema is.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Just sorry even last what's this semens? What's what this
- 35:48Speaker 1: has to go?
- 35:48Speaker 3: There? Always?
- 35:49Speaker 1: No, I'm serious, I've got no idea.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Just imagine he didn't.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I know the Special Equipment Manufacturers Association. It's basically so.
- 35:57Speaker 1: There's people listening to this that they don't know about
- 35:59Speaker 1: your bloody festivals that you go to.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Okay, can we just get I mean, what's the process
- 36:04Speaker 3: on Instagram? Is that how they follow your Instagram? Can
- 36:06Speaker 3: look seriously send us a dm is is a DMS open.
- 36:10Speaker 1: On sladm's trails the drivers show.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Everyone knows what SEMA is chimp.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's in Vegas. Wow, So another huge setup.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And this was the same thing last year. I was
- 36:21Speaker 2: watching SEEMA on Instagram. A lot of people didn't want
- 36:25Speaker 2: to attend because they imposed mask and vaccine mandates and
- 36:29Speaker 2: a lot of the Americans who follow this type.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Of stuff, that is your non mask.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, that is like, that's basically tru That's a trumpally,
- 36:40Speaker 1: So over those.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Fucking cars, it's a Trump rally.
- 36:43Speaker 2: But this was back in form last year. Sorry, the
- 36:45Speaker 2: year before that, yeah, twenty twenty two, this was back
- 36:48Speaker 2: in form, So I'm curious and CS is back on
- 36:50Speaker 2: the way up now.
- 36:51Speaker 3: And it was so if they normally have one hundred
- 36:53Speaker 3: and sixty thousand people at c it was one hundred
- 36:55Speaker 3: and ten thousand this year. Yep, that was sixty last year.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yeah right, because again last year had had to be
- 37:00Speaker 3: double vacks. She had to be proved negative. It was
- 37:03Speaker 3: horrible plus year getting into an out of America. We
- 37:06Speaker 3: had to get tests as well. It was nightmares. So
- 37:08Speaker 3: this year was easy.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Is all this stuff back to normal? You think, like
- 37:11Speaker 1: the tech world in terms of all the hold ups
- 37:13Speaker 1: and stuff we've had. Yeah, all these guys came out
- 37:16Speaker 1: with concepts everything.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I feel like from July last year, we were back
- 37:20Speaker 3: to normal, Like that's when my travel went back to normal.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Launches went back to normal, Apple went back to normal. Samsung.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Samsung actually hasn't had a physical tech event. They've only
- 37:29Speaker 3: had kind of big elaborate briefings, whereas I don't know
- 37:32Speaker 3: when you're putting this out, but next week in San
- 37:34Speaker 3: Francisco having a proper venue event, so there'll be thousands
- 37:37Speaker 3: of people again. So I feel like they're back to normal.
- 37:39Speaker 3: CS just needs it, just needs next year. So twenty
- 37:42Speaker 3: twenty four CS I think will be epic. I think
- 37:45Speaker 3: it'll be solid. I think I think your Audi's and
- 37:48Speaker 3: your other brands that weren't there this year will go. Actually,
- 37:51Speaker 3: BMW Mercedes did really well this year because.
- 37:54Speaker 2: They had some show it looked sick because they got
- 37:57Speaker 2: attentions no longer happening. So it's events like SEEMA and
- 38:01Speaker 2: CES where they can do crazy shit at SEEMA and
- 38:04Speaker 2: then CS is all about tech and the future exactly
- 38:07Speaker 2: because every car has tech.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Right, That's the how I fell into this driving a
- 38:10Speaker 3: car thing because every because car companies like, can you
- 38:12Speaker 3: talk about this infertainment? I'm like whatever, And so every
- 38:15Speaker 3: car has tech, whether it's the safety tech or the
- 38:17Speaker 3: driver tech or whatever. And that's why I see this
- 38:20Speaker 3: is a great place to be because they get to
- 38:21Speaker 3: expose themselves like you and you would see this the
- 38:23Speaker 3: kind of people that get invited to things. You're like,
- 38:25Speaker 3: who's this fucking bloke and he's an Instagram influencer. It's me,
- 38:28Speaker 3: yeah exactly, And people are.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Like there, I am there, I am rocket up and
- 38:32Speaker 1: everyone's like, yeah, that guy.
- 38:35Speaker 3: You know what Paul does just saying because he does
- 38:36Speaker 3: what I do when they ring up? And so do
- 38:38Speaker 3: you want to come to wherever for you thing? I say,
- 38:40Speaker 3: can you make sure I'm in the not in the
- 38:42Speaker 3: lifestyle cycle?
- 38:43Speaker 1: What does that even mean?
- 38:44Speaker 3: They have different when they have a car launch. They
- 38:46Speaker 3: do normally six days, two days for a bunch of
- 38:49Speaker 3: influences and ship and then two days for edge car
- 38:53Speaker 3: people like me, and then two days for actual car people.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Like Paul, they'll invite you to the first two days
- 38:58Speaker 3: meet it, the second two days he.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Doesn't even go to the first two days.
- 39:00Speaker 1: I didn't get invited for.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I'm just letting you know, thanks for getting close. You're
- 39:06Speaker 3: getting close. So I think that I think that the
- 39:08Speaker 3: benefit of CS for brands is the exposure outside of motory. Yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 3: I didn't mate. I'd never heard of the Mercedes Ben's
- 39:15Speaker 3: eqxx before, and I'm like, oh shit, this thing. This
- 39:20Speaker 3: was announced actually last CS, but they didn't have it there, right,
- 39:22Speaker 3: it was just a because they didn't ever stand it
- 39:24Speaker 3: was just announced and so to bring that thing in
- 39:28Speaker 3: and made it was a beautiful stand, you know, mirrors
- 39:31Speaker 3: and fucking fancy ship. It looked cool. It was it
- 39:34Speaker 3: was your Instagram for the day because it looked amazing
- 39:37Speaker 3: to get pictures there. So that's what you want, is
- 39:39Speaker 3: you want people equ x X is what we're looking
- 39:41Speaker 3: for some help on the Google. The people were two
- 39:46Speaker 3: x's well English, it is no, It's like it looked
- 39:53Speaker 3: unbelievable on the show. For people were looking at that thing.
- 39:57Speaker 3: This is sick. And they've got two of them right,
- 39:59Speaker 3: one of them is a static show car.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And the other one is drivable.
- 40:03Speaker 2: They said a world record in the drivable one. I
- 40:06Speaker 2: actually didn't notice this year as well. They had a
- 40:08Speaker 2: lot of your supercar blondie style influences. My fraind Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 2: she'd been going to a few of those previously, but
- 40:15Speaker 2: now it was an explosion of influences that they were
- 40:18Speaker 2: really trying to hype up the year.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Well, and I'll tell you right now, they they wanted more.
- 40:22Speaker 3: So what they had planned was there's a private racetrack
- 40:27Speaker 3: at a I don't know resort or something about an
- 40:29Speaker 3: hour out of town, and they had planned to do
- 40:31Speaker 3: a drive day for two days before the show opened,
- 40:34Speaker 3: but they couldn't get battery. The battery was stuck in
- 40:36Speaker 3: customs or something, so it was all canceled. It was
- 40:38Speaker 3: on the Wednesday of the show. I was Mitch driving
- 40:40Speaker 3: like six I was meant to drive the fucking thing
- 40:42Speaker 3: at six am, and they rang the night before game.
- 40:44Speaker 3: We just didn't get clearance on the battery. So in
- 40:46Speaker 3: the end they because there's two of them, one of
- 40:48Speaker 3: them on the show floor, the other one they just
- 40:49Speaker 3: drove from a hotel across the road. They took you
- 40:53Speaker 3: on a run around the run around the strip. And
- 40:55Speaker 3: I'll be honest with you.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Have you seen it not in person, but it looks
- 40:59Speaker 2: bloody amazing pictures. A look at the butt of it,
- 41:01Speaker 2: though it's all ero. That's an aston Martin though EVC Yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 2: got that sort of wow.
- 41:07Speaker 3: That is the most insulting thing you could ever say
- 41:10Speaker 3: to a Mercedes is.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Good you nerd.
- 41:12Speaker 1: As soon as the bloody phone goes.
- 41:13Speaker 2: All I've got another radio interview, so we're going to
- 41:17Speaker 2: have to another.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Get inside that and the infotainment, because you think a
- 41:22Speaker 3: concept car is going to be just ship right, this
- 41:24Speaker 3: thing has this, you know, Mercedes has that one screen,
- 41:27Speaker 3: one screen, separate screen. This is one legit screen and
- 41:33Speaker 3: as you swipe it the whole thing it's made, it's
- 41:35Speaker 3: more beautiful and an operating system than Apple and Apple
- 41:39Speaker 3: do good.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Though I do wonder because the idea of it sounds great,
- 41:43Speaker 2: and when I actually tested the hyperscreen in that EQ
- 41:46Speaker 2: S s U V, it can be laggy. And I
- 41:48Speaker 2: wonder whether these concept cars they just throw like a process, large,
- 41:52Speaker 2: process larger, and then the production car comes out like
- 41:55Speaker 2: the Ford Ranger. That infotainment system is so laggy. If
- 41:59Speaker 2: you catch napping and they just don't have enough grunt.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I've never seen a screen like it was the most
- 42:05Speaker 3: I said to the bloke, I'm sorry you're going to
- 42:06Speaker 3: talk about this car is beautiful and everything, but that
- 42:08Speaker 3: screen is fucking amazing.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that looks cool.
- 42:10Speaker 3: This thing is measuring the wind. They measure the wind
- 42:12Speaker 3: impact into the front of the car so that they.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Can from you the wind from It's just like it
- 42:19Speaker 1: doesn't real I have a four and twenty, I reckon
- 42:22Speaker 1: I can get that up to one hundred, one hundred.
- 42:24Speaker 3: And ten real time coalfisions of drag calculated. When you
- 42:27Speaker 3: put the diffuser out, it shows up and the changes man.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Over a fucking screen.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Absolutely, if there wasn't a drive there or a rub
- 42:36Speaker 3: one out, mate, it was unbelievable.
- 42:38Speaker 1: It probably has a button for that. Tiler'll just jerke
- 42:40Speaker 1: you off.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Can you explain to listeners One of the criticisms we
- 42:45Speaker 2: often get when we go to a car launch overseas
- 42:48Speaker 2: is that manufacturers are in our pockets and I'm putting
- 42:52Speaker 2: a video together at the moment to explain how the
- 42:54Speaker 2: industry works and how we earn money and all that
- 42:56Speaker 2: sort of stuff.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Fuck let me, Yeah, this is going to be an
- 42:59Speaker 1: expose a definate right it is.
- 43:01Speaker 2: The problem is people.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Excerning millions and he's going to put out a fucking
- 43:03Speaker 3: video about that.
- 43:04Speaker 2: The problem is people are people who aren't in the
- 43:07Speaker 2: industry don't understand that when events like this go on,
- 43:10Speaker 2: they want all of the media to come there to
- 43:12Speaker 2: report on this and instead of Samsung going to five
- 43:16Speaker 2: hundred countries around the world with the same stuff, it
- 43:19Speaker 2: just wouldn't work. So is it the same in the
- 43:21Speaker 2: tech industry where this sort of event is funded by
- 43:24Speaker 2: a brand and then you're expected to.
- 43:26Speaker 3: So to be clear, see US is very different from
- 43:28Speaker 3: I got invited to see us by Intel in twenty twelve,
- 43:31Speaker 3: this thing's amazing, And then in October of twenty twenty twelve,
- 43:35Speaker 3: for the next year, I'm thinking, who's invited me?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Not inviotyed me.
- 43:37Speaker 3: I was really doing not much back then, so I
- 43:39Speaker 3: was like kind of coming up and I'm like, I
- 43:41Speaker 3: want to go. I gotta go. So I just rang
- 43:43Speaker 3: a couple of companies and said, can you sponsor me
- 43:45Speaker 3: and just ask for a couple of grand to pay
- 43:46Speaker 3: for my air fits And ever since then I've just
- 43:48Speaker 3: done that. So even now I take four people because
- 43:51Speaker 3: I just I don't want to be beholden. When I
- 43:53Speaker 3: say beholden, I don't mean what we say. I don't
- 43:55Speaker 3: give No one ever tells me what to say. I
- 43:56Speaker 3: don't want to have to go to a fucking dinner.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I don't want so see percent I get like sponsors
- 44:02Speaker 3: like so this year Samsung, LG, High Sense, TCL, BMW
- 44:06Speaker 3: all come in. They pay a bit of money funds
- 44:08Speaker 3: all my airfare is accommodation and everything.
- 44:10Speaker 2: So we're good.
- 44:10Speaker 1: There is a light thing where you have to obviously
- 44:12Speaker 1: cover their gear, right.
- 44:14Speaker 3: What I the clear documentation is you're what you're paying
- 44:17Speaker 3: for is me. We will definitely cover your event. We
- 44:20Speaker 3: will definitely attend your booth. We will definitely give you
- 44:22Speaker 3: editorial coverage full stop. Doesn't say it's going to be
- 44:24Speaker 3: positive and negative. It's just we're gonna cover you.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Oh okay, Yeah, that's it.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Three things. That's it. Nothing else. If you've got a
- 44:30Speaker 3: dinner on it works beautiful. Next week Samsung's holding it.
- 44:34Speaker 1: A sipulated dinner.
- 44:36Speaker 3: No, I don't want to go to dinners. I fucking
- 44:38Speaker 3: hate going to gennis It's the worst thing in the
- 44:40Speaker 3: world because I've got to sit with people I have
- 44:42Speaker 3: who don't like me most of the time, and I
- 44:44Speaker 3: probably don't like them as well. So I hate seven
- 44:47Speaker 3: course three people we talked about before we start a recording.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I don't want to sit with them at dinner.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Now, if you listen to our bonus episode, we're going
- 44:55Speaker 1: to go through all those names.
- 44:57Speaker 3: And I'd be happy to help you know what you're
- 44:59Speaker 3: talking about. But so because I've been beaten up on
- 45:01Speaker 3: Media watch about it too. In fact, last August I
- 45:04Speaker 3: got on Meetia Watch Good Times, Happy Days, Paul Barry
- 45:06Speaker 3: got you on Media or whatever?
- 45:07Speaker 1: The fucking host, Yes, the one who talks like he's
- 45:09Speaker 1: from the nineteen tieties, and Trevor Long was called rubbing
- 45:13Speaker 1: one out and the Mercedes double it.
- 45:14Speaker 3: I'm in New York City, I'm on the Today Show
- 45:17Speaker 3: Sky and he's a bunch of places and on my
- 45:18Speaker 3: website everwhere talking about a new folding phone. Right here
- 45:21Speaker 3: it is, and they go, you didn't disclose that Samsung
- 45:24Speaker 3: sent you there, And I just write, who the fuck
- 45:26Speaker 3: did you think sent me here?
- 45:27Speaker 2: Yeah? Exactly like am I going to dip into my
- 45:29Speaker 2: own pod to New York? That's like, are you fucking
- 45:33Speaker 2: kidding me?
- 45:33Speaker 1: Honestly, that's what people would think though.
- 45:35Speaker 2: But that's the problem. Idiots. They're like, they assume that
- 45:39Speaker 2: that's how it works. And it's like, we could not
- 45:42Speaker 2: employ thirty people full time if you.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Were then paying for trips around the.
- 45:45Speaker 2: World and these things for us. A car launch overseas,
- 45:48Speaker 2: we might be only there for a day. You're expected
- 45:50Speaker 2: to land and drive a car immediately. If I'm sitting
- 45:53Speaker 2: in economy with my knees around my ears, I'm not
- 45:56Speaker 2: going to be able to sit there and do anything.
- 45:57Speaker 2: So and when people always go on about business class,
- 46:01Speaker 2: I'm like, well, it's literally in the name business class.
- 46:04Speaker 2: I'm going full business and it allows me to drive
- 46:06Speaker 2: the car and get straight back home. I don't want
- 46:08Speaker 2: to spend a.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Minute objective most see and again, I bet you this
- 46:11Speaker 3: is the same in murdering. There's a bunch of tech
- 46:12Speaker 3: journals who will extend their stay. They'll stay for extra
- 46:15Speaker 3: nights if they're in New York. I've got a family,
- 46:17Speaker 3: I've got three kids. My wife hates that I have
- 46:20Speaker 3: this job. She will kill me if she found out
- 46:23Speaker 3: I was fucking lazing around somewhere. Right, it's I leave
- 46:25Speaker 3: on Sunday. I get back on Friday morning because my
- 46:28Speaker 3: kid plays baseball on Saturday. If I'm not there, I
- 46:30Speaker 3: am divorced. So I could stay in San Francisco for
- 46:33Speaker 3: another week. Sweet and no dramas. But I'm in and
- 46:36Speaker 3: out as quick as I can. And where it's business class,
- 46:39Speaker 3: I take business class sometime because I like to bring
- 46:41Speaker 3: a camera with me to shoot some shit. Sometimes I
- 46:44Speaker 3: compromise and trying to fly premium. We fly economy whenever
- 46:47Speaker 3: I'm paying because I'm not an idiot. I'm saving money
- 46:49Speaker 3: wherever I can, but only for where it's an individual company, Apple, Samsung, whoever.
- 46:55Speaker 3: If they've got an event, I ain't paying for myself
- 46:57Speaker 3: to get there.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's crazy to the peace would assume that
- 47:00Speaker 2: you love the brand so much that you would do that.
- 47:03Speaker 2: It actually blows.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Me away, you know. Then the obvious other thing, and
- 47:06Speaker 3: you kind of alluded to it in a joking, I think,
- 47:08Speaker 3: but you know, what do you pay to say about them? Look,
- 47:11Speaker 3: I'm not a negative guy. I don't do a lot
- 47:13Speaker 3: of negative gear. Right, I'm not gonna get on the
- 47:15Speaker 3: Today's I say this is a ship phone because you
- 47:17Speaker 3: know what, every car, every phone has an audience, even
- 47:21Speaker 3: a one hundred and ninety dollars smartphone, while we everyone
- 47:24Speaker 3: in this room would think it is shit. Ye for
- 47:27Speaker 3: a mum, single mum battling to get her seven year
- 47:30Speaker 3: seven kid a phone that's the fucking perfect phone, and.
- 47:32Speaker 1: They want to feel good about it, It's right, you know.
- 47:34Speaker 3: They want to know what its features are and what
- 47:36Speaker 3: it's going to do, and maybe a little bit of
- 47:37Speaker 3: what it can't, you know, And that's as simple as that.
- 47:40Speaker 3: A car review and a phone review very similar in
- 47:42Speaker 3: the sense that every car is incremently better than the
- 47:45Speaker 3: than the last. And that's what it's all about today.
- 47:47Speaker 2: And it's I think it's the same story in tech
- 47:49Speaker 2: genuinely today there is not a car out there that
- 47:52Speaker 2: I would say this is not It's exactly right.
- 47:54Speaker 3: We're not going back to the eighties here. You know
- 47:56Speaker 3: where some cars were shipped. There's some cars were dangerous, right. Phones.
- 48:02Speaker 3: You know, Samsung had some phones that exploded. They weren't
- 48:04Speaker 3: actually bad phones, they just had a real fuck up
- 48:06Speaker 3: with the technology, and you know what, they fixed it,
- 48:08Speaker 3: They recall it, and they've come back super strong. Why
- 48:10Speaker 3: would I bag Samsung because they had burning phones six
- 48:14Speaker 3: years ago that hasn't happened, since it's an unbelievable story.
- 48:19Speaker 3: You know, people use that analogy to talk about Tesla
- 48:22Speaker 3: because Tesla don't fly people everywhere. Well they do, they
- 48:24Speaker 3: have taken some people around, but you know, well.
- 48:27Speaker 2: They also people don't know this, but Tesla sack their
- 48:30Speaker 2: PR team globally except in Australia. They still retain people
- 48:34Speaker 2: who do PR on the side. They still run a
- 48:36Speaker 2: press fleet, which we don't pay for. There was no
- 48:38Speaker 2: way I would pay to review their cars ever, and
- 48:42Speaker 2: that press fleet comes with free charging. Like I think
- 48:45Speaker 2: that people, and it's especially those Tesla people who think
- 48:47Speaker 2: were on the take from big media. I'm like, fucking
- 48:50Speaker 2: not a chance. It's it is literally your review.
- 48:52Speaker 3: But again, and we're digging a different rabbit hole. But
- 48:55Speaker 3: you know, I don't think I've ever had a Tesla
- 48:57Speaker 3: for more than three days, yep, you know, because that's
- 48:59Speaker 3: the way they roll. I'm like, you know, it'd be
- 49:01Speaker 3: a whole lot better for me if I could have
- 49:02Speaker 3: a car for a week or two or do a
- 49:03Speaker 3: long term.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Those problem is you'd end up with a negative ish
- 49:06Speaker 2: story like I have because.
- 49:07Speaker 3: You because you'd actually just cover the ship, you know,
- 49:10Speaker 3: so look, I don't care about it anymore. I don't
- 49:12Speaker 3: kill people say it's the same, mate, it's the same.
- 49:14Speaker 3: When I'll do a segment on the Today Show where
- 49:16Speaker 3: I'm talking about mobile phone deals, I'll tell here's a
- 49:20Speaker 3: couple other than he's coging with this, and someone will
- 49:22Speaker 3: go on to it and go, fucking add for Cogan?
- 49:23Speaker 2: Is it?
- 49:23Speaker 3: I'm like, if it is, who's pain?
- 49:26Speaker 2: Like where's my cash? Like?
- 49:27Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 49:29Speaker 2: Like? Where is my cash in this situation?
- 49:31Speaker 3: There's no benefit.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Sorry about that comment.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I knew it was, but so many fake accounts.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Between me and your Barry, I swear it wasn't me.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I'm dead set.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Hey, Barry, if you're stuck with the show, I'm sending
- 49:50Speaker 3: you merch mats just because it was funny.
- 49:52Speaker 1: It's funny, it was funny.
- 49:55Speaker 3: You're a good man. Carve them up, mate, calm or
- 50:00Speaker 3: who's paying? It's paying to listen to this. I say
- 50:03Speaker 3: that to people all the time about whether it's my
- 50:04Speaker 3: website of podcasts. I don't.
- 50:06Speaker 2: I try.
- 50:07Speaker 3: I make a spelling mistake, which I make a lot of.
- 50:09Speaker 3: They're right to me. I'll go whatever.
- 50:11Speaker 2: I'll send you a refund.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll send you a full fucking refund, buy a
- 50:15Speaker 3: PayPal of nothing.
- 50:17Speaker 1: See in case you've just joined. As we're talking Trevor's
- 50:20Speaker 1: Zingers on The Driver's Show, two things before you go,
- 50:24Speaker 1: what is what's the most impressive tech that you reckon
- 50:28Speaker 1: is coming out there? Doesn't correlate it or.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Not outside of things we talked about because they were
- 50:33Speaker 3: very very cool, the benw thing specifically, Yeah, I did
- 50:36Speaker 3: see some glasses from TCL which look just like they
- 50:38Speaker 3: actually look like your glasses.
- 50:39Speaker 1: There they are the TCL glasses.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not, and they project in front of your vision.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Now that's all cool, like think of Google glass from
- 50:47Speaker 3: twenty twelve. But they actually demonstrate that there's a woman's
- 50:51Speaker 3: that's not me wearing them, but it's a different set.
- 50:54Speaker 3: A few images down there's actually strolls just right, but
- 50:58Speaker 3: it's not those ones. These are different ones.
- 51:00Speaker 1: A guy, Yeah, oh my god, put on the glasses
- 51:05Speaker 1: that you were in.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Put them on. Put them on?
- 51:07Speaker 3: Why anyway? Hello welcome? No, so this woman so lovely
- 51:12Speaker 3: lady from TCL speaking Mandarin or Cantons, I don't know,
- 51:15Speaker 3: but I tapped aside went into this menu that said
- 51:17Speaker 3: translation tapped it loud, crowded into a hall of exhibitors,
- 51:22Speaker 3: and this woman's speaking to me and Mandarin and it's
- 51:24Speaker 3: fucking appearing in English in front of me with a
- 51:27Speaker 3: three second delay. I'm telling you it was.
- 51:29Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Mind blowing. So what you those ones there are, they're
- 51:33Speaker 3: like you put them on and it's like one hundred
- 51:35Speaker 3: inch screen in front of you. So it's like a
- 51:36Speaker 3: good way to watch Netflix if you're lying in bed,
- 51:38Speaker 3: you just get one hundred inch.
- 51:38Speaker 2: So this had some sort of phone connectivity.
- 51:41Speaker 3: This was this was it was built in or built in.
- 51:43Speaker 2: That's cool, very very cool.
- 51:45Speaker 3: So that that shit's cool. And I think that you'll
- 51:47Speaker 3: see a lot more foldable phones issue. I think Google
- 51:48Speaker 3: will come out with a fireable phone.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Do you think about foldable phones? Because I get the thing,
- 51:53Speaker 2: but I just don't. I don't know what purpose like.
- 51:56Speaker 2: And I also think this is the dumbest shit I've
- 51:58Speaker 2: ever seen.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Camera barba ship Oh yeah, apple thumber bumps are annoying
- 52:01Speaker 3: and yeah, foling phone. So I don't like the open
- 52:04Speaker 3: up ones that open up like a book. They're too
- 52:05Speaker 3: big and they're just huge in your pocket. I like
- 52:08Speaker 3: the flip if I could flip this shut and put
- 52:11Speaker 3: it in my pocket right now.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I think the flip's a great idea. Yeah, I mean
- 52:14Speaker 1: it's good that they've made a comeback screen protection.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Like it's in your pocket, and it's particular the thickness
- 52:18Speaker 2: of a typical iPhone that you then follow.
- 52:20Speaker 3: The current the current Samsung flip is close to double
- 52:23Speaker 3: but it doesn't feel like that in your pocket. Plus
- 52:26Speaker 3: you can throw it in your bag with less concern
- 52:28Speaker 3: because your screen. You're not worried about your screen anymore.
- 52:31Speaker 2: So as good as the long ways are, they still scratch.
- 52:33Speaker 2: If I have set of keys in there, it's still
- 52:35Speaker 2: scratch me.
- 52:36Speaker 3: You're mad not having a screen protector on that thing.
- 52:38Speaker 2: This is the thing my last phone.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Also, I was with you when you took that case off.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I had all moves of stuff on it, and I realized,
- 52:45Speaker 2: I'm paying twenty bucks a month if I drop it all.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Just fuck. I'm not talking about how.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Much you pay, but this is the thing, this is.
- 52:51Speaker 3: How loaded he is, but so much fucking money. You're
- 52:57Speaker 3: still paying two hundred dollars a month for your mobile
- 52:59Speaker 3: phone fucking plan.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Oh no, I stopped that. That was a scam because.
- 53:02Speaker 3: They it was a solid argument and had.
- 53:05Speaker 1: At one point was it a Telstra thing? Were you
- 53:07Speaker 1: in Telstra at the time.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Because we were traveling a lot and it came with
- 53:09Speaker 2: you Global roaming included Telstra. Then goes, oh, you we're
- 53:12Speaker 2: deleting that, but it's still one hundred and ninety five
- 53:14Speaker 2: dollars a month. I said, fuck that.
- 53:15Speaker 3: If you want to go back on Telstra, go to
- 53:17Speaker 3: Boost me.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but that's the thing I ended up
- 53:19Speaker 2: on Telstra because why did I ended up on Telstra? Well?
- 53:22Speaker 2: Boost didn't do roaming. There was some issue with roaming.
- 53:25Speaker 2: They do now it's not that cheap. But now that
- 53:27Speaker 2: these have a duel sin, I've discovered im and all
- 53:30Speaker 2: this other stuff. You didn't just enable it overseas and
- 53:32Speaker 2: it works fine. But anyway, once it is out of contract,
- 53:35Speaker 2: I'll get rid of it because it's Telstra just just
- 53:38Speaker 2: as bad as office in terms of customer service and stuff. There.
- 53:41Speaker 1: We're going to wrap this up. Tell me something interesting,
- 53:43Speaker 1: Tell something, Saucy, something saucy, Tell me something saucy. You're
- 53:47Speaker 1: chatting up chicks in the metaverse. What are you doing?
- 53:49Speaker 2: No, mate?
- 53:51Speaker 3: Can you imagine I'm the most boring human you'll ever meet. Mate,
- 53:54Speaker 3: This is the most fun I've had for fucking a month.
- 53:56Speaker 1: You're kidding, I believe that. I imagine like Trey picking
- 53:59Speaker 1: up chicks in the metaverse? How would that sound?
- 54:02Speaker 2: Do you Yahoo?
- 54:04Speaker 1: You really scan my hard drift? Babe?
- 54:08Speaker 3: Do you it meant to be funny with him?
- 54:11Speaker 2: I'm never sure.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I think I just you think I just downloaded on
- 54:16Speaker 1: my belly button.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Does the radio station nowhere here? He just got a
- 54:21Speaker 2: key from upstairs.
- 54:23Speaker 3: So because you're actually on the radio, ain't it?
- 54:26Speaker 1: Do you accept three and a half inch floppies?
- 54:29Speaker 3: I prefer five and a quarter.
- 54:32Speaker 1: By the way, that primo shot.
- 54:33Speaker 3: No, it's not that one. It's your kiss one, oh,
- 54:36Speaker 3: which is really hard talk about me coming into the room.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Hello, Yeah, look, I've put on a few, haven't we
- 54:45Speaker 1: all put on a few that was actually taken, that
- 54:48Speaker 1: was taken before I was married and before the child. Yeah,
- 54:54Speaker 1: with the child's two and a half for the court case,
- 54:56Speaker 1: so two and.
- 54:57Speaker 3: A half, you've got like another six years before that
- 54:59Speaker 3: gets good.
- 55:00Speaker 1: It's good, It's fine. I don't mind. But yeah, I'm
- 55:04Speaker 1: proper fat now.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I wasn't concerned it your coke selection earlier that wasn't.
- 55:13Speaker 3: How does Paul's wife let him do all the ship
- 55:15Speaker 3: that he gets money? Talks about it if my wife,
- 55:19Speaker 3: if my wife had that credit cards you can give
- 55:21Speaker 3: a where.
- 55:22Speaker 1: He walks in the door and it's like a bas
- 55:25Speaker 1: lumin movie. There's confetti and he just like where those
- 55:29Speaker 1: couples makes it ray dancing on a pile.
- 55:33Speaker 3: How much money did you? I'm thinking, just more simple.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Have you seen the TikTok where the guy's got like
- 55:38Speaker 3: a dart and he bursts a balloon and that it
- 55:41Speaker 3: just just gell and ship all over this woman every
- 55:43Speaker 3: time she walks in the house.
- 55:44Speaker 2: What do you want?
- 55:44Speaker 3: I'm thinking, Paul's just just shooting money. It's just braining
- 55:48Speaker 3: money as she walks in the door.
- 55:50Speaker 2: My wife listens to this, wait to see what she thinks.
- 55:54Speaker 2: She really she said to me, Gord, he's really funny.
- 55:56Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, he's jokes to me.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're not you're not picking up chicks in
- 56:01Speaker 1: the metaverse.
- 56:03Speaker 3: You're traveled at home?
- 56:04Speaker 1: Yes? What else? What else do we need to know?
- 56:08Speaker 2: You need to know that I have a radio interview
- 56:12Speaker 2: that can I take TV probably like ten.
- 56:15Speaker 3: Minutes who's that rating nice? Someone else there?
- 56:17Speaker 2: Brook Courts the brook Court brook is nice at that
- 56:22Speaker 2: time and not no she Brooks's yeah, she's on the No,
- 56:27Speaker 2: she's just used to do.
- 56:28Speaker 3: A TV so that we were involved in as well,
- 56:30Speaker 3: which was mentioned earlier.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Are you guys giving each other like?
- 56:33Speaker 3: Look she is lovely? Yeah, she's very just had a again,
- 56:38Speaker 3: second baby. This mate married not dead.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Wow, Tram is going to get in so much trouble.
- 56:48Speaker 1: I'm refreshingly surprised at trev Well, yeah, you've surprised him.
- 56:56Speaker 3: I'm refreshing refreshingly surprised, just like you can pull this
- 57:00Speaker 3: ship together.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Well, there you go.
- 57:01Speaker 2: I'm happy that I don't need to be.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Don't expect your name on the poster anytime soon, because
- 57:06Speaker 1: one we couldn't fit.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Also, there'd be legal issues again.
- 57:12Speaker 1: God, can you imagine if we send Fairfax our new
- 57:15Speaker 1: new promotion? In fact, you know what Trevor Long hangs
- 57:18Speaker 1: out on The Driver's Show, I'm going to send that
- 57:20Speaker 1: to it.
- 57:22Speaker 3: I wake up with the Driver's Show.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Do you know what we should do for Primo for this.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Hang on stop? Just for the record, before I agreed
- 57:31Speaker 3: to this, I didn't know about all that shit?
- 57:34Speaker 2: Neither did we finally and do you know what.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Anyway, Look, I'm actually going to hold back. I am
- 57:42Speaker 1: going to hold back. I am I am surprised. Did
- 57:45Speaker 1: you rock up? Did I hear this right? Did you
- 57:46Speaker 1: rock up to a an Elton John show and show
- 57:50Speaker 1: your ass?
- 57:50Speaker 2: What was that?
- 57:52Speaker 3: Dribbling and loose the skin is?
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 57:55Speaker 2: I thought it was working.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I thought it was a bulldog getting chogked by a
- 57:58Speaker 1: yo yo stream.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Can I just say I that Molly a while ago.
- 58:03Speaker 2: He's a really nice guy and I just feel very
- 58:05Speaker 2: sad for the situation.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, me too.
- 58:08Speaker 3: Way to bring the episode down.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yeah we should go back to fighting in a park
- 58:12Speaker 1: with our shirts off.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Jesus listen. Just the final thing I'll say is listeners
- 58:16Speaker 3: think there was some fucking feud going on. I don't
- 58:18Speaker 3: even know what was going on.
- 58:20Speaker 1: What are you talking about, Michael Clark about I'm talking
- 58:23Speaker 1: about you.
- 58:24Speaker 2: It was Carl Stephan and Trevorlong was there as well.
- 58:28Speaker 2: He rooted the.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Great publicity definitely did. And it was over dinner. It
- 58:34Speaker 1: was between main courses.
- 58:36Speaker 3: I think that might have gone too far.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Is the dinner?
- 58:39Speaker 2: Just for the edit, there is a lot of editing required.
- 58:42Speaker 1: No, there is very much not. I'm looking over at
- 58:45Speaker 1: our social media guy. This fucking goes on YouTube as
- 58:48Speaker 1: it happens, all right, thank it on YouTube? Yes? And
- 58:51Speaker 1: you porn you know?
- 58:52Speaker 3: Can I just say this is the kind of content
- 58:54Speaker 3: the reason I am happy to come because this is
- 58:55Speaker 3: the kind of content the world needs. Not boring fucking
- 58:58Speaker 3: sitting around reading through ship it's boring. Have you listened
- 59:02Speaker 3: to other podcasts?
- 59:03Speaker 2: They're boring.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I listened to one of yours ones. I agree.
- 59:07Speaker 3: I'm okay with that. I've moved on from that. But no,
- 59:10Speaker 3: I think I think it's good what you're doing. Keep
- 59:12Speaker 3: it up, thanks man, I'll be here when you're actually writing.
- 59:14Speaker 1: Well, we are writing well. We're the biggest automotive podcast
- 59:17Speaker 1: in Australia.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Did you not know that we're about to do a
- 59:19Speaker 2: go fundme for our next legal challenge.
- 59:24Speaker 1: I'm going to use that. I'm going to use that
- 59:26Speaker 1: as our promo photo.
- 59:28Speaker 3: I've got a better one from CS No, no, no, no,
- 59:31Speaker 3: You've got just just last thing before we get because's

- 59:41Speaker 3: I sure, am for Mary Champ. That's me there have
- 59:45Speaker 3: a look at that. If that's not a promo photo,
- 59:48Speaker 3: know what is?
- 59:49Speaker 1: I prefer the son? Are you? What are you doing there?
- 59:52Speaker 1: Like what? It's like an oculus, but you're eating a chicks.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Headphones? It's headphones and there's no ass headphones that purify
- 59:59Speaker 3: the air.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Are they genuinely serious?
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: It was announced on April the first last year. I
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: thought it was so stupid, and I tell you it
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: wasn't It's real and I listened to them. They great headphones.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: I just don't fucking understand why you would want them
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: unless you lived in the New York subway.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Around the expo, like your doctor to doc, I was
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: born of it. That's from Batman. You know I was
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: born of it.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: It's a bang from Batman. From Batman?
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Does your wife think you're funny?
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I was born? I think I think I talk on
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: behalf of everyone and you're making is uncomfortable. Can you
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: please leave?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: All right? Thank you Trevor for action a pleasure.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Thank you for coming in, Baddy than before we go,

- 1:01:16Speaker 2: So let's run through and also, please leave us a
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: rating whichever platform you listen to this on. Please. I
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: know that you don't think it means much, but please
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: just go in there and just write something nice and
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: leave a five star rating or a thumbs up or whatever.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: It'll help us get promoted. So first email so from
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Neil and he wrote, Hi, guys, just wanted to pass
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: on that this is a great podcast. Paul is always
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: knowledgeable and that was it on all things cars, and
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Gordy is just a clown. Hey. I really want to
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: say something bad about Gordy so he can pay out
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: on me every episode like Daniel, But I can't.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: What did he just call me?
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: He said, can't? Did he?
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Yes? Okay? He then wrote, even my wife enjoyed listening
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: to a few episodes on a re road trip. No surprise,
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Paul's a hit with the mums. I'm only human.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: That's so good.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: You are the Center's picks Neil, and he wrote to
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: keep up the podcast. It's a great entertaining addition to
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: my feed. As Gordy would say, fuck you, Daniel gold Bust. Yeah,
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: he had a serious question though, He wrote as an aside,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I have a twenty twenty two Kisserato GT. What are
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: your opinions on this? I personally love the car, although
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I would love a Stinger. I'm just not on Gordy
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: money to afford one.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Well, first of all, I reckon the Kisarato GT is
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: a great car. I think it's good. It's a furry,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: fiery little car.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: It's good.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Well you've driven that. How does it compet to your Stinger?
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Oh it doesn't.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: But like, what similarities could you draw? Because I thought
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: we actually have a YouTube review going live of the
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Serato GT. And for the amount of money you pay
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: for that, it was one of the most enjoyable cars
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I've driven around the proving ground. It was so fast
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: and so fun. Didn't love the ride, didn't love the
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: tyn Or it was a bit excessive. Stinger, on the
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: other hand, is a bit more of a GT cruiser, right, Yeah, comfortable, Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: It's a proper GT car. I think the Serrato is.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I just think it's great. It's bang for your Bucket's brilliant.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: It is a front wheel drive, yep, so there's that
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: which is a bit but I think it's great. I
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: think it's got everything if you can. For me, it
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: just felt a bit small and cramped. I wouldn't have
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: it as a family car, but I think everything is there.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: It's well appointed, the tech is excellent. It looks really
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: good from the front at least anyway. I don't know.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Paul always thinks the rides a bit stiff, but Paul
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: has a bad case of hemorrhoids.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: And there is a cream that I'm using for that.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: There is, can I say, actually as well with Serato GT,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: they just move the cel Toss with a similar engine
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: to this to a torque converter. Serato GT is currently
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: a Jewel clutch and I found the torqu converter excellent
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: in the celt Toss. The only thing I didn't really
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: like about that drive train in the Serato was low
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: speed with jewel clutch. I'd love to see if they
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: changed to a talk converter as well. It would really
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: be quite a sort and if they had an adaptive damping,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: they would actually have what I would deem a very
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: warm hatch. So I think it is on the warmer
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: side of warm, on the hotter side of warm.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Who knows anyway?
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Anyway? Yeah, great car, Thank you for their email.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Love it. Here's another good one, this one quick thing.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: If he does want a bay Stinger, I think he
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: can buy mine because it's currently for I think you
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: can also pick up a really reasonable one with good
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: K's for about fifty grand. At the moment, they are
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: discontinuing them, and I wonder if that will up the price.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I don't think I think they'll I think they'll go
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: all right, Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: I think so as well. Email from Michael titled Dealer
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Delivery Fee. Now this was a good email because he
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: had a really good question in here, and and it
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: was one I had to do a bit of research on.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: So I wrote, Hi, Paul and Gordy, glad you're back.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Was wondering why you stopped podcasting given the show was
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: so entertaining and moderately informative. So he wrote, Paul, you
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: mentioned in the December show that if you pay more
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: than two thousand dollars dellary delivery, you're being ripped off.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I guess I'm being ripped off good, because I'm paying
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: thirty five hundred for my Genesis GV seventy. No, it's
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: not the three point five twin Turbo. Given that Genesis
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: don't have dealerships and I have to deal directly with
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: the manufacturer, I guess this is a sneaky way for
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Young Day of increasing their vehicle margins and still appearing
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: to offer good value pricing, as reviewers only tend to
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: report on the price before on roads. I'll be interested
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: to see what special fanfare I receive when I collect
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: my GV seventy in mid jan So if you are
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: listening to this, give us a yell and let us
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: know how it went for the three point five k
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: dealer delivery. But I suspect it will be underwhelming given
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: the customer service so far. Really enjoy the podcast. It
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: would be great if you could increase the frequency to
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: weekly episodes. I've also unsubscribed from another podcast that I
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: won't mention, but you can use your imagination. Now, I
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: should clarify that when I was talking about Dilly delivery
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: in the December show, that was strictly in relation to
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: for dealar delivery. It wasn't other brands. Other brands will
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: charge much more and in the cases in the case
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: of Genesis, no, you're not getting ripped off. I had
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: a look at the Genesis website and I think their
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: deal of delivery was around three grand, so they probably
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: are rating a little bit of mayo to that, just
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: a tiny bit. But you're not getting ripped off in
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: the grand scheme of things.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: They might be able to negotiate that day.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Right, Well, I just think it's a bit expensive, to
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: be honest, because thirty five hundred they really.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Don't they deliver this car like to the.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Well yeah, that's my other question as well. Are you
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: getting a home delivery or are you picking it up
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: from one of their dealers or a yun day dealer
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: even do let us know? But yeah, in short, you're
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: not getting totally ripped off. It is just a little expensive.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Let us know how the delivery went and whether you
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: thought there was value in that. There might be some
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: process behind the scenes. That is much bigger than a.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Forward perhaps and generally also too, because it's a genesis
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: it you're not getting you're not taking delivery of the
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: young day they like they could have, as you said,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: different processes on getting this car ready for delivery.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but let's let's see, because that's a lot of money.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: That's what five percent of the car's price potentially or
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: even slightly less than that. There's a shitload of money.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: So yeah, get in touch with us, Michael, if you
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: hear this and we're still listening, please and let us
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: know how it all went, because we're very keen to
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: find out.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Yeah, five stars. Leave a nice comment. We'll see you
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: next week. God, it's hot in here.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: It is. What the hell is It's like you've got
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: an interrogation light on or something. I have a bickroom
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: podcast
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: So I do not want to see you're downward dog
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: like that would just be Oh God,
