- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, all RIGHTO, coming to you alive from Philly.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's the Foly and Toni Foolsco Show as always Polly
- 0:13Speaker 1: Foolsco here with Tony Foolsco and Tony. We're making headlines
- 0:17Speaker 1: again because you know we called it. We said Jalen
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hurts was the answer for Philly and look at that
- 0:22Speaker 1: he wins the game. Now we got everybody in the
- 0:25Speaker 1: city apologizing to us. We've been receiving NonStop emails, letters
- 0:29Speaker 1: or we're so sorry, you know, please forgive us. Even
- 0:32Speaker 1: the mayor reached out and you know, you know another
- 0:35Speaker 1: person who has got to be apologizing to us. You know,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I had a conversation the other day with our broadcast
- 0:40Speaker 1: partner here Apple. Let me break it down for you know,
- 0:43Speaker 1: in the sports TV business, there's what's called carriage fees.
- 0:47Speaker 1: You know, all these cable providers, you know, your your Comcast,
- 0:50Speaker 1: your Spectrum, your Frontier, your Exfinity, whatever the hell that is,
- 0:54Speaker 1: they pay carriage fees to be able to put programming
- 0:58Speaker 1: on the air, like they pay es. He had five
- 1:00Speaker 1: dollars a month per customer FS one. They pay about
- 1:03Speaker 1: a buck CBS Sports Network. I think it's like three cents. Uh,
- 1:08Speaker 1: I actually think CBS actually pays them to be on.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But you know, there's apples and oranges anyway, talking about
- 1:13Speaker 1: apples in orange and I call up Apple and I say, hey,
- 1:16Speaker 1: you should be paying us a carriage fee for having
- 1:19Speaker 1: our programming your network, your platform. And the guy on
- 1:24Speaker 1: the phone, well, he said he'd get back to us,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and he immediately hung up, so you know, I could
- 1:29Speaker 1: tell he's on it. Yeah, we'll be hearing from him soon. Anyway,
- 1:32Speaker 1: As crazy as it sounds, the NBA is already back.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It's just crazy, you know, Tonty. It reminds me of
- 1:38Speaker 1: that scene in you know, Back to the Future too,
- 1:40Speaker 1: where Doc thinks that he sent Marty back to the future,
- 1:43Speaker 1: and then two seconds later, Marty comes back and Docs like,
- 1:47Speaker 1: what the funk are you doing here? And Marty's like,
- 1:49Speaker 1: I came back from the future, and Ducks like, you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: what the hell I mean. That's a perfect analogy, because
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's exactly how I feel about basketball starting. Anyway, we're
- 1:59Speaker 1: bringing on this guy been with the Philadelphia and Choir
- 2:02Speaker 1: for years. The Sixes beat reporter Keith Pompey, And let
- 2:05Speaker 1: me tell you, if you know anything about Keith, he
- 2:08Speaker 1: is the biggest downer on the sixes. I've ever met
- 2:11Speaker 1: a total wet blanket, a dripping wet blanket, And I'm
- 2:15Speaker 1: about to go Mount Vesulvia Sun, Mr Pompeii. So we'll
- 2:20Speaker 1: get to our guests. But you know, Tony, it's hard
- 2:22Speaker 1: being right in this business. But you know, we we
- 2:25Speaker 1: just we keep mailing it. So here we go another
- 2:29Speaker 1: edition of our most popular segment where Polly and Tony
- 2:32Speaker 1: were right, where Paully and Tony were right. Well, people,
- 2:37Speaker 1: what can we say? We've called it. You know, we
- 2:39Speaker 1: said Jalen Hurts would save the Eagles season, take the
- 2:42Speaker 1: Eagles straight to the super Bowl, and hey, we're right.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You know that he led the Eagles right there to
- 2:47Speaker 1: a definitive victory over the Saints. You know, doesn't get
- 2:51Speaker 1: more decisive than that. And that you know, Saints fans
- 2:54Speaker 1: they're up in arms, you know, they saying, uh, it
- 2:56Speaker 1: wasn't fair because Drew Brees wasn't in the game. Well, hey,
- 3:00Speaker 1: Corson Wentz wasn't in the game, so you know there. Besides,
- 3:04Speaker 1: the Saints have been getting lucky for years. They've gotten
- 3:07Speaker 1: so many lucky breaks with the refs and such. Remember
- 3:10Speaker 1: that Rams game. Oh you know, the refs did them
- 3:13Speaker 1: a favor so they wouldn't have to get destroyed by
- 3:15Speaker 1: the Patriots and the Super Bowl. Yea. So to the
- 3:19Speaker 1: Saints fans, I say, just like the saying goes people
- 3:23Speaker 1: and glass houses, shouldn't be throwing houses at other people,
- 3:28Speaker 1: Well said, don'ty Well said where Pauli and Don were right.
- 3:33Speaker 1: You know, on the other hand, people everybody's wondering, what
- 3:35Speaker 1: do we do. You know with Corson Wentz in that
- 3:37Speaker 1: huge stupid contract the Eagles gave him. You know, we said,
- 3:40Speaker 1: don't give him that contract, and now the Eagles they're
- 3:43Speaker 1: looking for answers. Well, we got the answer for them.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's very simple, sitting right there. Trade him to the
- 3:49Speaker 1: Cowboys for Dac. That's an equal trade paper. And you
- 3:53Speaker 1: know that that would be a good backup for us,
- 3:55Speaker 1: because you know, he's basically a poor man's version of
- 3:58Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts, and that can learn as a backup, just
- 4:01Speaker 1: like Aaron Rodgers learned from Brett Farb. Don't forget Rogers
- 4:06Speaker 1: was under achieving in Green Bay his first two seasons.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He didn't even play, and Brett fob was like, hey, Aaron,
- 4:14Speaker 1: I'll show you how to throw t d s and
- 4:17Speaker 1: how to take pictures of your cock from different angles,
- 4:20Speaker 1: get the lighting just right to make it look bigger.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And boy, it must have worked because look at the
- 4:26Speaker 1: production from Aaron Rodgers. I mean he landed Danny Kapatrick,
- 4:29Speaker 1: Olivia Munster. You know it was some good toutelage as
- 4:33Speaker 1: they say, yeah to Elledge where Pauli and Dony who
- 4:37Speaker 1: were right? Speaking of Totaledge. You know, nobody's talking about
- 4:41Speaker 1: this Tonty. But hey, you know, finally Mitch Trushitsky looks
- 4:45Speaker 1: like Joe Montana and people going, oh, well, how did
- 4:48Speaker 1: this happen? He must have been so good. No, people,
- 4:51Speaker 1: it's not hard to see. Why. Look over to the
- 4:53Speaker 1: bench and who do you see sitting there? Nick falls
- 4:56Speaker 1: given his Super Bowl winning tootledge. Yep, and our sources
- 5:01Speaker 1: tell us we got a good source on this. Tony,
- 5:04Speaker 1: so says Nick. Foles has a direct mic into true
- 5:08Speaker 1: Shitzky's helmet, just like Joe Biden had in all the debates. Yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 1: he's talking to him. Look left, go deep, look for
- 5:16Speaker 1: the guy in the Bears uniform, not the Texans uniform.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It's kind of reminds me of that French movie where
- 5:24Speaker 1: the rat is the chef and he hides in the
- 5:26Speaker 1: bus boy's hat and then he pulls on his hand
- 5:29Speaker 1: then makes the kid cook really good. Uh. I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: it's called the Rat Chef. No no, no, no, uh.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Radito yeah, Radit do Well said, yeah, the radit Pool
- 5:43Speaker 1: method where Paul and were right. Finally paper a little
- 5:47Speaker 1: NBA here LaMelo ball solid debut with the Hornets, and hey,
- 5:53Speaker 1: we knew it all along. You know, a few months ago,
- 5:55Speaker 1: Tony did a top ten list, a very controversial top
- 5:58Speaker 1: ten lists back on us second episode. You know, all
- 6:01Speaker 1: the big outlets were talking about it. You know, you
- 6:02Speaker 1: had a big MIC's sports media and be a blog
- 6:06Speaker 1: inside Philly Sports and Recreation dot org. You know, all
- 6:09Speaker 1: the big ones. They were all a buzz because Tony
- 6:12Speaker 1: put LaMelo in the top ten all time players even
- 6:16Speaker 1: though he hadn't played a game. But Tony explained your
- 6:19Speaker 1: reason in there was smart. As I've said before, when
- 6:22Speaker 1: you're doing an all time list, that means all time,
- 6:27Speaker 1: so you can't just go by what these players accomplished
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the past, but what they've accomplished in their future.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And we called it, we said, LaMelo ball is gonna
- 6:37Speaker 1: win seven or eight championships easily. And in his debut,
- 6:42Speaker 1: what do you know, he had ten rebounds and four assists,
- 6:46Speaker 1: including one of the best behind the back passes ever.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So Paulie I wouldn't be surprised if LaMelo gets his
- 6:53Speaker 1: first championship season this year, would you not? At all?
- 6:58Speaker 1: You know, you gotta have him as the front runs
- 7:00Speaker 1: coming out of the East. You know them in the
- 7:01Speaker 1: Sixes with Dlight Howard, now, uh you know, and um
- 7:05Speaker 1: you got to look at the pistons too with Lie Angelo.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So those three keep an eye on them. People. You'll
- 7:10Speaker 1: thank us later. Alright, that wraps up with Paul Antonio.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Were right then? You know, hey, just in time because
- 7:16Speaker 1: I see our guests coming online. So let's get him
- 7:18Speaker 1: on the full SCOO satellite network. Alright, let's get him
- 7:24Speaker 1: in here. He's the beat reporter for the Sixes for
- 7:27Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Inquirer, have been with The Inquirer for sixteen
- 7:30Speaker 1: years now, all right, also host the podcast Locked on Sixes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You may also know him from the interview he once
- 7:37Speaker 1: did on America's Pregame, which is a very underrated sports
- 7:40Speaker 1: studio show and very underrated anyway, Keith Pompey, welcome to
- 7:44Speaker 1: the show. What's up, fellas? I love the jerseys, I
- 7:48Speaker 1: love the accents, I love it all. Oh you know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 1: show you do. You know you're acting all happy, go lucky,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but we know the real you come and cut the
- 7:55Speaker 1: acting because you know, we heard your podcast you said
- 7:58Speaker 1: the Sixes are even a top four team in the
- 8:02Speaker 1: East this year, and you know we gotta say, well,
- 8:05Speaker 1: we heard that. We weren't surprised because you know, this
- 8:07Speaker 1: falls in line with your reputation. You know, you've heard
- 8:10Speaker 1: the phrase wet blanket. You've heard that phrase. You're a
- 8:13Speaker 1: dripping wet blanket. You're so wet, don't you agree? You're
- 8:16Speaker 1: a bit of a downer. I think I'm a realist,
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I think I'm a realist,
- 8:22Speaker 1: but you know I get it. I mean, hey, people
- 8:24Speaker 1: in my family trying to swing at me on Sundays
- 8:27Speaker 1: in church. You know, maybe they're trying to tell you, say,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you know, choosing to take a more optimistic approach. You know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: it's better for your family relationships. It's also good for
- 8:38Speaker 1: your blood pressure, so you know, maybe be more optimistic
- 8:42Speaker 1: about the Sixers. You know what, I don't think I'm
- 8:45Speaker 1: hating on the Sixers, you know what I mean. I
- 8:47Speaker 1: think I'm one of those guys that when you when
- 8:49Speaker 1: you play well, I write about it. When you struggle,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I write about it. But I have to have my credibility,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Of course, we're the most
- 8:58Speaker 1: credible journalists out there. Who wants to swing it? You?
- 9:01Speaker 1: I want to know what's going on there in the
- 9:03Speaker 1: Pompeii family. How does that work? Also? Can I thank them? Yeah?
- 9:06Speaker 1: You can thank them. You can thank them? Who thank
- 9:09Speaker 1: my mom for swinging? Oh she's never had, she's never had.
- 9:13Speaker 1: She's a good lady. I already like her, you know,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I really do. I'm kind of curious. You know, it
- 9:18Speaker 1: wasn't one of the prerequisites when you applied for a
- 9:21Speaker 1: job with the Philly Enquirer, Like, Hey, are you a
- 9:24Speaker 1: Sixers fan? I would think that would be the first
- 9:27Speaker 1: question in the interview, right Paul. They asked that. Nah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: Well that's on them. But you know, come on, let's
- 9:32Speaker 1: get down to brass tax as they say, Yeah, what
- 9:35Speaker 1: don't you like about this here? Sixers? Come on, give
- 9:37Speaker 1: us some proof. You know, I don't really think I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: down on the Sixers. I think that I have to
- 9:42Speaker 1: ask myself who's going to be the closer? And if
- 9:45Speaker 1: you say Joel Embi, nothing against him, but everything has
- 9:49Speaker 1: to go right when you give the ball to the Senate. Whoa, whoa?
- 9:53Speaker 1: What do you mean? Two words? Dwight Howard, he just
- 9:56Speaker 1: closed the championship for the Lakers. Closer. Yeah, he's a
- 10:00Speaker 1: close all right. But the thing is, you need a
- 10:03Speaker 1: perimeter closing. Okay, I mean you need come on, man,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you need a guy who's like, you need a guard.
- 10:11Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about. You need a guard, you
- 10:13Speaker 1: know what you need? You need Jimmy Butler, that type
- 10:16Speaker 1: of guy. Yeah, yeah, but he's with Miami. Now. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: do you have a time machine? Yeah? Yeah, they probably
- 10:25Speaker 1: wish they had one right about now. But all right,
- 10:28Speaker 1: well that leads to a great question. The rumors are
- 10:31Speaker 1: still out there about Mr James Harden. You know, we're
- 10:33Speaker 1: still hoping this thing works out because you know that's
- 10:35Speaker 1: a ring guaranteed. Don't you agree that this is what
- 10:39Speaker 1: you're leading to. He's the missing piece for the Sixers,
- 10:41Speaker 1: that perimeter shooter. I think he is. I do. My
- 10:46Speaker 1: only question mark is like, okay, so now you have
- 10:49Speaker 1: John Wall over there. So if you have John Wall,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Kim Ben Simmons and John wal Co exists, who cares?
- 10:58Speaker 1: Let them figure that out. You know, you're the sixes.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You don't care. But you know, I think James would
- 11:03Speaker 1: be great because you need a guy who could close.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Now again, he's not a popular choice because a lot
- 11:09Speaker 1: of people in Philly talk about him being a ball hall. No,
- 11:13Speaker 1: they're wrong. He's a distributor, just like Allen Iverson, who
- 11:17Speaker 1: thought about passing the ball, always thinking about his teammates.
- 11:22Speaker 1: They're just passing back, right, Yeah, that's what he was about.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Pardon He's like Iverson mixed with Moses Malone and Carl
- 11:31Speaker 1: Malone and the Double Malone. Yeah, look, we got Doc Rivers.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Got to get your take on that. You know, come on,
- 11:37Speaker 1: this guy took the Celtics from nothing to a championship
- 11:40Speaker 1: in one year. Don't you think come on, don't you
- 11:43Speaker 1: think he'll do it again? I think, you know what,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'm intrigued to see what Doc can do. Now you're
- 11:49Speaker 1: talking there, you go, there's some rare positivity out of
- 11:52Speaker 1: you now. Coming to reason being is because you know
- 11:55Speaker 1: Doc Rivers has been when you think about it. Like
- 11:58Speaker 1: the last five years ago the Mount Rushmore, Doc Rivers
- 12:03Speaker 1: was on there, everyone talked about Doc, about how great
- 12:06Speaker 1: he was. And now, for the first time since before
- 12:11Speaker 1: he won that championship, you have people looking at him
- 12:14Speaker 1: in question. You're saying, like, you know, what about the accountability,
- 12:19Speaker 1: what about practice? What about all these other things? You
- 12:23Speaker 1: have to believe all those Docs says all it doesn't
- 12:26Speaker 1: bother me. You have to believe it does. You also
- 12:29Speaker 1: have to believe that he's extremely motivated to prove people wrong.
- 12:34Speaker 1: So I'm really looking forward to what he can do. Now.
- 12:36Speaker 1: This might sound crazy to y'all because but I do
- 12:39Speaker 1: think that the sixers. Everybody is hyping the sixers up now.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I think the jump goes next year. Forgot next year,
- 12:48Speaker 1: this is the year and next year, man, I don't know,
- 12:52Speaker 1: like you know, I think it may be the year
- 12:54Speaker 1: for Brooklyn now and I think that's the year, and
- 13:01Speaker 1: maybe you should go work in Brooklyn, you know, be
- 13:03Speaker 1: a good career move for you. Also, your family would
- 13:05Speaker 1: probably be glad to see your goal. Yeah, but you know,
- 13:08Speaker 1: on the subject the careers, you know, we've been doing
- 13:10Speaker 1: this thirty years now, you're thirty. If you count middle school?
- 13:14Speaker 1: How the hell you become the beat reporter for the
- 13:16Speaker 1: sixes and they, you know, had this job sixteen is
- 13:19Speaker 1: what what do you do? Well? Actually I got the job.
- 13:22Speaker 1: When I first started, I was like covering high schools.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But real story, I walked into the inquire like seriously,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I had that I'm from Philly, but I was living
- 13:31Speaker 1: in Myrtle Beach and I was in town for a
- 13:34Speaker 1: wet and I had a buddy who worked here, and
- 13:37Speaker 1: I said, whatever you can do, please get me in
- 13:39Speaker 1: the door, Please get me in the door. He got
- 13:42Speaker 1: me in the door. I sat down, I talked to someone.
- 13:45Speaker 1: They introduced me to the sports editor and then they
- 13:48Speaker 1: hired me a month later. Yeah, it was like it
- 13:50Speaker 1: was luck. It was no wonder. They should ask a
- 13:53Speaker 1: couple more questions. That didn't know what the yea, yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: let me go down and there word of security. You know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know we're in podcasts the bursioning media as they say,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you know, bursioning, you're a newspapers. Aren't you afraid? You
- 14:06Speaker 1: know your job's gonna go away tomorrow? You know you're
- 14:08Speaker 1: gonna be a dinosaur. No, not really. I think that
- 14:12Speaker 1: it's going to be it is different now. Like you know,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think when you talk about newspapers, Yeah, the newspaper
- 14:19Speaker 1: is dying. But at the same time, your social media
- 14:24Speaker 1: platform is growing. Oh don't we know it. Our numbers
- 14:27Speaker 1: are mind blowing. Do you think maybe then you could
- 14:30Speaker 1: start writing articles in two hundred and forty characters better
- 14:35Speaker 1: for us, and you probably would be on the subject
- 14:40Speaker 1: of you know, pivoting learning. Guys, we're gonna give you
- 14:42Speaker 1: a chance to save yourself here. You know, we tried
- 14:44Speaker 1: to give you a little totally show you how you
- 14:47Speaker 1: could be a better Keith POMPEII. So look, just come
- 14:50Speaker 1: out and say it now. You said the sixes aren't
- 14:52Speaker 1: gonna wine. We know that two make your prediction. Lock
- 14:58Speaker 1: it in now, two man, I think they may be
- 15:04Speaker 1: third in the East. Oh, this guy third work for
- 15:11Speaker 1: the Inquirer. My first question is I inquire how they
- 15:14Speaker 1: ever hired you, because guess what, you're off this show.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I know everybody swings at you good bye, say hi
- 15:26Speaker 1: to your mother for her, and thank her for us.
- 15:31Speaker 1: The line got him off the line? What what a
- 15:34Speaker 1: just the absolute down that guy is. Yeah, this is
- 15:38Speaker 1: actually a bigger disaster than the original POMPEII. All right, look,
- 15:42Speaker 1: we gotta move on and calm down here because you
- 15:44Speaker 1: know we got business to do. As always at this
- 15:46Speaker 1: point in the show. Right now, we're going to do
- 15:48Speaker 1: an ad for a big name in the world of
- 15:51Speaker 1: satellite television, the number one provider in the United States,
- 15:57Speaker 1: Dish Network. Let me tell you, people, Dish Network provides
- 16:02Speaker 1: us with countless hours of entertainment, and that's because of
- 16:06Speaker 1: one thing that many carriage fees. They pay so many
- 16:11Speaker 1: expensive carriage fees, and they pass that quality onto you
- 16:16Speaker 1: the subscriber. You know, if you sign up for their
- 16:18Speaker 1: Diamond Platinum package, you get all the channels for one
- 16:22Speaker 1: low price that they'll only tell you about when you
- 16:25Speaker 1: call their one number and asked to speak to the
- 16:28Speaker 1: supervisor on duty. But anyway, Tony, you've got the Diamond
- 16:32Speaker 1: Platinum package already, so why don't you tell the people
- 16:35Speaker 1: about it. I'm so thankful for my Diamond Platinum package
- 16:39Speaker 1: and all the many carriage fees. I get so many
- 16:43Speaker 1: quality channels, channels like Ovation home to such quality programming
- 16:49Speaker 1: as reruns of Mama's Family, Doma and Greg and Hunter.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I also get my Network TV, which has all the
- 17:00Speaker 1: finest telenovelas. I can't understand the word, but the acting
- 17:05Speaker 1: looks superb. I also get the Smithsonian channel, which I
- 17:10Speaker 1: never watch, but I like knowing it's there. I also
- 17:14Speaker 1: get Reels Channel, and that's Reels with the Z at
- 17:18Speaker 1: the end, not an S like you would think. Because
- 17:23Speaker 1: I don't like this on demand. I still like people
- 17:26Speaker 1: to choose the movie for me, so I come in
- 17:29Speaker 1: forty minutes late and have to piece the story together myself,
- 17:34Speaker 1: just like Detective Hunter would. Also, I get the World
- 17:39Speaker 1: Poker Tour Channel. You're not only watching poker, you're seeing
- 17:44Speaker 1: the World Paris Bulk Area reo. So call that one
- 17:51Speaker 1: night number press three, then five, then eight, then zero,
- 17:56Speaker 1: then the stocky and then asked to speak to the
