Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: A podcast called twenty five West Stocking Sports and they
- 0:09Speaker 1: are whizz so, yeah, it's too bad, But what did
- 0:12Speaker 1: you expect? It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Bill O'Brien coming up a little bit. Head football coach
- 0:22Speaker 2: at Boston College, but head coach of the Texans went
- 0:27Speaker 2: to Penn State, was in the Alabama Hey goo, coach
- 0:32Speaker 2: for Nick Saban for a minute and then it'll put
- 0:34Speaker 2: you back into the program.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Was he a coordinator?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah? Defensive coordinators, offensive coordinator? Was he not? I believe
- 0:40Speaker 2: so yeah, because he's been a quarterback and wide receivers guy.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So he'll be on from Boston College and just a
- 0:45Speaker 2: little bit, so that'd be cool. What do I want
- 0:49Speaker 2: to start? Let's do real sports for a seconds, real sports.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Why did you yell real sports.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Because you said you want to do real sports.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Well, I was gonna talk about sports about pick a
- 0:58Speaker 2: ball for a second, but I want to do real sports
- 0:59Speaker 2: first before we'd get to that. Actually, Deebo Samuel's going
- 1:02Speaker 2: to the Commanders. Oh gosh, you're a Cowboys fan. How
- 1:06Speaker 2: does it make you feel?
- 1:06Speaker 3: That's brutal, man, They're just stacking up over there. It's
- 1:09Speaker 3: just gonna be hard. The Eagles are gonna be good again. Commanders,
- 1:12Speaker 3: they're setting up to be good again. I mean, that's
- 1:14Speaker 3: gonna leave the Cowboys in third place. Probably we're gonna
- 1:17Speaker 3: have no chance with the playoffs again.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean, Aaron Rodgers probably goes to the Giants now,
- 1:23Speaker 2: and he'll probably play pretty well. I can see him
- 1:26Speaker 2: playing pretty well with the Giants, much better than you
- 1:28Speaker 2: did with the Jets. Yeah, and like that, yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: you know you're a Jets fan.
- 1:34Speaker 3: We're cursed.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And also a longer time from that injury.
- 1:38Speaker 3: That's that the injuries, and he was playing better towards
- 1:40Speaker 3: the end of the year.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So the Deebo Samuel trade is to the Commanders for
- 1:44Speaker 2: a fifth round pick, And it's not so much about
- 1:46Speaker 2: the pick, because you're like, dang, he's pretty good. Why
- 1:49Speaker 2: did he only get a fifth rounder? Mostly it was
- 1:51Speaker 2: because of the basically eighteen million dollars salary and the
- 1:54Speaker 2: fact that he's always hurt. So yeah, as a Cowboys fan,
- 1:59Speaker 2: probably not what you want to hear.
- 2:01Speaker 3: We got Jonathan Mingo though, and gave our third round
- 2:03Speaker 3: pick for him.
- 2:04Speaker 4: He did that last just looking back at moves like that,
- 2:09Speaker 4: you're just like, oh, and then the Commanders they give
- 2:13Speaker 4: a pick a fourth round, they fit the round for
- 2:16Speaker 4: freaking Deebo Samuel.
- 2:17Speaker 5: It is just I feel like he's going to go
- 2:18Speaker 5: off this year McLaurin. Yeah, and he's got something to
- 2:21Speaker 5: prove now, and like they can use him in the
- 2:22Speaker 5: run game.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Got a good quarterback. Yeah, that's gonna be pretty cool.
- 2:28Speaker 2: The Commanders are starting to be a real team, which
- 2:30Speaker 2: is weird because they haven't been in a long time.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I mean the end of the Redskins, the Washington football
- 2:36Speaker 2: team or club or whatever they were for a minute.
- 2:39Speaker 2: The Commanders, they kind of suck. They've kind of been
- 2:41Speaker 2: a team that sucked for a long time. Yeah, so
- 2:43Speaker 2: you just think their color sucked, like anybody that colored
- 2:46Speaker 2: a team that sucks, Like that's if a team is
- 2:49Speaker 2: that bad that long that talked all about the Jaguars,
- 2:51Speaker 2: Like if anyone is that kind of like bluish green,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'm like, they must suck because that's a loser color.
- 2:55Speaker 3: That's funny how you associate that, because yeah, what is
- 2:58Speaker 3: that maroon? That ugly whatever it is?
- 3:01Speaker 2: And I double year is a terrible looking logo. But
- 3:04Speaker 2: I'm telling you a little bit of winning changes that
- 3:05Speaker 2: you start to go it's pretty solid. W Like that's
- 3:08Speaker 2: a good fund right there. So yeah, that sucks with
- 3:12Speaker 2: the Cowboys because it looks like the commanders of New
- 3:14Speaker 2: Ownership are starting to be a real life. They're starting
- 3:17Speaker 2: to be a Pinocchio.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'm a real boy. And you talked to Jaden, Daniel's like,
- 3:21Speaker 3: what's he like?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Chills could be chill as could be cool is the
- 3:27Speaker 2: other side of the pillow? Cool as a cucumber, cool decice.
- 3:33Speaker 2: He's willing the sack.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Like nothing. It seems like nothing gets to that guy. Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 3: yeah whatever.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And I don't know if I would think that if
- 3:42Speaker 2: people hadn't been saying that a lot on television, because
- 3:45Speaker 2: talking heads are like, yeah, nothing affects him, And then
- 3:47Speaker 2: when you meet him, and you've already had that built
- 3:49Speaker 2: into you, you're like, oh, I see what they mean.
- 3:51Speaker 2: If I were to have met him without that, I'd
- 3:54Speaker 2: have been like I didn't care about anything. But because
- 3:56Speaker 2: people that actually know him talking about him leave them. Plus,
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'm not even super nice. He was like night, he
- 4:03Speaker 2: was like good manners. You say, yes, sir, do you
- 4:06Speaker 2: super polite?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:09Speaker 2: So yeah, sorry, Deebo Sam is only twenty nine, which
- 4:12Speaker 2: is crazy. He seems like he's about forty three because
- 4:14Speaker 2: like he feels like it's my age. Commanders are optimistic obviously,
- 4:18Speaker 2: or they wouldn't spend the eighteen million bucks on it.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Other free agency stuff. We mentioned Aaron Rodgers because Stafford
- 4:26Speaker 2: is resigning in LA and is getting getting his money
- 4:29Speaker 2: for another couple of years. Aaron Rodgers obviously is not
- 4:32Speaker 2: going to go to LA. I think that was the move.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Had Stafford decided to go to the Giants or to
- 4:35Speaker 2: the Raiders. Stafford stand in LA. It looks like Aaron
- 4:39Speaker 2: Rodgers to the Giants. It's not a foregone conclusion, but
- 4:43Speaker 2: it seems to be trending that way, which probably means
- 4:46Speaker 2: they won't draft a quarterback, right.
- 4:49Speaker 5: I mean I don't know, because I think they're hoping
- 4:51Speaker 5: that he can mentor.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But have they tried that Zach Zach Wilson.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah, not a lot of mentor the Jets, Yeah, exactly so.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but again, he did get hurt immediately. Maybe in
- 5:02Speaker 2: his older age he won't be such a douchebag, right.
- 5:04Speaker 3: He was humbled a little bit. We keep waiting for that.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, you're right, that's a good point.
- 5:09Speaker 3: It never happened, But like, he.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Wasn't super warm with Jordan Love from any of the
- 5:14Speaker 2: conversations I've had with people that know. But what's crazy
- 5:17Speaker 2: is is that he wasn't treated warmly when he came
- 5:20Speaker 2: up with Brett Faarr. Right, So you would think someone
- 5:22Speaker 2: who kind of was treated like garbage wouldn't treat someone
- 5:26Speaker 2: like garbage. And again i've my sources are seven out
- 5:32Speaker 2: of ten's about the green Bay situation.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I don't know Aaron Rodgers. He also seems like the
- 5:39Speaker 3: kind of guy that if you even let him know
- 5:41Speaker 3: that he's going to go in a mentoring role, he's
- 5:43Speaker 3: not cool with that. Like, I'm only here to play.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I'm here to win. I don't care about the next generation.
- 5:47Speaker 3: That's your problem, not mine.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And if you sign him, you sign him probably to
- 5:52Speaker 2: a two year deal and you hope he is able
- 5:55Speaker 2: to complete that contract. But you're going probably one, maybe two.
- 6:01Speaker 2: But does he think that is the question? Right? Right?
- 6:03Speaker 2: He may think he's superman. He's done, he's done just
- 6:05Speaker 2: enough ayahuasca to feel like he's invincible. Stefan Diggs is
- 6:11Speaker 2: a free agent.
- 6:12Speaker 3: That'd be cool.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Would you like Cowboys to have him, would love it.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Brother and brother.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I think there's nothing better than having family members together
- 6:17Speaker 3: in one team.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Do they have enough money? Probably not, Yeah, especially if
- 6:20Speaker 2: they gotta sign Michael Parsons.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yep. I mean Dak took most of their money. Now
- 6:24Speaker 3: they got to sign Michael Parsons's gonna take a good
- 6:26Speaker 3: chunk of money.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I mean, Ceedee Lamb took a big part of it too.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yes, I understand three players are taking a lot of
- 6:31Speaker 3: the Cowboys money, but we did lose Zach Martin, so
- 6:35Speaker 3: maybe that frees up a little bit of money. That
- 6:37Speaker 3: tire sucks.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So he retired and he was stables. Yeah, yeah, he
- 6:42Speaker 2: was a stud that you treated that like it was
- 6:46Speaker 2: a positive. And I'm here to tell you.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Just money, just money wise. Yeah, it's almost like you
- 6:50Speaker 3: can't replace that. You cannot replace that. But you look
- 6:53Speaker 3: at it like, all right, that's us suck, that's tough
- 6:55Speaker 3: for us, But that is some money that we have
- 6:57Speaker 3: left over now. Now, maybe we can use that somewhere useful.
- 7:01Speaker 2: But he's nowhere more useful than the offensive line. He retired.
- 7:05Speaker 2: There's nothing we could do with Oh, I know, but
- 7:06Speaker 2: you're acting like it's a good thing. You're talking yourself
- 7:08Speaker 2: into it. I'm not allowing it. No, dude, it's getting worse.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Did you see him at the Honors? No, he was there.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I didn' see him.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Pretty cool to see him there, and I've never seen
- 7:16Speaker 3: I've never seen him before.
- 7:17Speaker 2: He's a big man, Justin Fields. So the Steelers are
- 7:20Speaker 2: reportedly leaning towards signing Fields over Russell Wilson as of
- 7:24Speaker 2: this hour. I don't know what they're gonna do. For
- 7:28Speaker 2: a while, it was Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers. He's
- 7:30Speaker 2: kind of flirted with everybody. Yeah, but you know, if
- 7:34Speaker 2: they signed Fields, it's more of a long term play.
- 7:36Speaker 2: He's only twenty six years old. He was four and
- 7:38Speaker 2: two before getting benched. But the defense was playing awesome.
- 7:42Speaker 2: So that four and two. I'm not gonna say Justin
- 7:44Speaker 2: Fields won four games, but he didn't play terrible. And
- 7:48Speaker 2: Russell Wilson, I think was just going to be the
- 7:50Speaker 2: guy until he wasn't. But Russ is a free agent. Raiders.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the what are the Raiders doing over there?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Garoppolo, Russell Wilson.
- 8:00Speaker 3: He Carol Reunion. Yeah, well that'd be cool. I guess
- 8:04Speaker 3: they kind of ended pretty poorly.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I feel like it was sour any indications that I
- 8:10Speaker 2: had for Yeah, because he traded him right, he wanted out.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But also the Garoppolo situation. They act like Pete Carol
- 8:17Speaker 2: loves Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo won. Let's not forget Garoppolo won.
- 8:22Speaker 2: He got to the Super Bowl.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, when did Garoppolo play for Carol?
- 8:25Speaker 2: No, I didn't say that. I'm saying he acts like that.
- 8:28Speaker 2: They're saying Pete Carroll likes Garoppolo. I don't think they
- 8:31Speaker 2: ever played. No, I don't together T Higgins man, he's good.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I don't know where Cincinnati is getting money. I mean,
- 8:39Speaker 2: if anything, they'll tag him a franchise, tag him. I
- 8:43Speaker 2: don't think they can pay all. I don't think they
- 8:45Speaker 2: paid Jamar Chase h Hendrickson, the Trey Hendrickson, Yeah, and
- 8:51Speaker 2: T Higgins when they can tag T Higgins. Khalil Mack
- 8:56Speaker 2: and he's getting older, huh, Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He's up there now and he's like, yeah, he's been
- 9:00Speaker 3: around the block.
- 9:01Speaker 2: The Eagles kind of the leader in the clubhouse there.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Sense I would love to go to the Eagles far
- 9:06Speaker 2: old Yah, I mean they're ready to go. They are
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean Miles Garrett's if he goes to the Eagles,
- 9:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, like it's gonna it's.
- 9:15Speaker 3: And they'll trade the picks to the rounds or yeah those.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Miles Garrett's not an old man, right, yeah, and he's awesome.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It's like him with TJ. Watt, Like that's top tier.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I think Henrison's right below them. Yeah yeah, just barely. Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 2: but holy crap. And then Sam Darnald so Donald very
- 9:31Speaker 2: much could be a raider. He could could be back
- 9:35Speaker 2: with the Vikings if they feel like JJ McCarthy is
- 9:38Speaker 2: not progressing in a way. But I feel like from
- 9:41Speaker 2: what I'm hearing, and I do have d I do
- 9:44Speaker 2: have a couple of decent I do now have odd connections.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I know it's weird. I do have odd connections. I
- 9:49Speaker 2: feel like he is progressing at the rate they expect, which.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Is wild because I feel like when he came out
- 9:54Speaker 5: of college, everyone was like, oh, he just hands the
- 9:56Speaker 5: ball off that he doesn't do any you know, he
- 9:58Speaker 5: can't make NFL throws, and it's just like, I feel like.
- 10:01Speaker 2: That was yes, and that was what was said, but
- 10:03Speaker 2: I feel like a lot of that was just because
- 10:04Speaker 2: the offense at Michigan ran because they never had to
- 10:06Speaker 2: throw the ball. They got up and then just here
- 10:09Speaker 2: you go, here you go read how you doing, buddy?
- 10:12Speaker 2: Just starting? Man?
- 10:13Speaker 6: You know, I'm just I'm here listening. You know, I'm
- 10:16Speaker 6: enjoying the show.
- 10:16Speaker 2: We appreciate that.
- 10:17Speaker 3: You know, he's like a listener, but in person, exactly school.
- 10:20Speaker 2: What do you think about free agency?
- 10:21Speaker 3: Man?
- 10:22Speaker 6: You know, I wish we could be free agents in life.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You are, you are literally a free agent, can do
- 10:27Speaker 2: whatever you want. You're leaving this show. Oh my gosh,
- 10:32Speaker 2: you walked right into that.
- 10:33Speaker 6: Man, I am a free agent.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I never made you sign a contract.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I need an agent.
- 10:38Speaker 2: An agent would only take you if he felt like
- 10:41Speaker 2: he could make money off of you.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Oh that's fair, that wouldn't happen.
- 10:45Speaker 3: You'd keep all the money.
- 10:46Speaker 6: What do you mean, Yeah, yeah, I'll keep all the money.
- 10:49Speaker 2: An agent would take ten percent, ten unless it's a
- 10:52Speaker 2: massive contract, and then they would take less. Like there
- 10:56Speaker 2: are certain in certain sports they can't take more than
- 11:00Speaker 2: like two point five or three percent, because you're talking
- 11:02Speaker 2: about millions of dollars. Where it's weird with these college
- 11:04Speaker 2: athletes is the agents can go twenty percent, fifteen percent
- 11:08Speaker 2: because there are no regulations, and so you have college
- 11:10Speaker 2: athletes going, I'm in and they're having to give twenty
- 11:12Speaker 2: percent of their money away.
- 11:13Speaker 6: I mean, could you even say fifty percent?
- 11:15Speaker 2: You can say whatever you want in certain situations, like
- 11:19Speaker 2: if an agent. I have an agent, and I have
- 11:22Speaker 2: an agency, and so I have different agents inside that agency,
- 11:26Speaker 2: but my main agent it's ten percent of anything, except
- 11:30Speaker 2: for like my big radio deal, which is two percent.
- 11:36Speaker 2: But if I'm like touring, it's ten percent. Crazy, yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 2: it's ten.
- 11:39Speaker 6: Percent, But it also gets you a lot of that unities.
- 11:42Speaker 2: So that's the way, right, Is it worth giving up
- 11:45Speaker 2: ten percent? Am I getting seventeen percent? Fourteen percent from
- 11:49Speaker 2: the agent? To give up ten percent?
- 11:51Speaker 6: That makes sense?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Now I give my management fifteen percent?
- 11:54Speaker 6: Oh who, so you're spreading it across So that's.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Already twenty five already percent immediately, and my business manager
- 12:01Speaker 2: gets five percent. That's thirty percent any money I make
- 12:04Speaker 2: thirty percent.
- 12:07Speaker 6: So you're just hoping you get more more opportunities then
- 12:09Speaker 6: that everybody is just helping you.
- 12:11Speaker 2: That that is the plan. Now for my radio contract,
- 12:16Speaker 2: it is not at thirty percent. For my radio contract
- 12:19Speaker 2: is much lower. Like I mentioned, with baseball players, football players.
- 12:22Speaker 2: There's only a certain level they can take. But for
- 12:24Speaker 2: if I'm touring, if I'm doing television, all that, it's
- 12:27Speaker 2: thirty percent. That's crazy.
- 12:29Speaker 6: Wow, I'm learning stuff. Man.
- 12:31Speaker 2: It sucks, yeah, because I have to pay it out
- 12:36Speaker 2: every two months, so I'm writing checks that just.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Seems like a lot of like organization you gotta have.
- 12:43Speaker 2: That's why your business manager is worth five percent because
- 12:47Speaker 2: bills don't come to my house or I have to
- 12:49Speaker 2: pay percentages everywhere, and so she does that, and she
- 12:53Speaker 2: also all call her and be like, hey, can I
- 12:54Speaker 2: buy this? Oh yeah, just make sure because you're like, yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 2: like what do we do? I I grew up with
- 12:59Speaker 2: no under standing on money. Now I have an understanding
- 13:02Speaker 2: of money six out of ten because I've had to learn.
- 13:06Speaker 2: But for a long time, I didn't have a business maasuer,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and I was just writing percentage checks, not knowing exactly
- 13:09Speaker 2: what you're doing.
- 13:10Speaker 6: So you don't even look at that stuff. You literally
- 13:11Speaker 6: are just like tell me if there's a problem, and
- 13:13Speaker 6: I will. I will ask you if most of the.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Time, yeah, do you get the number when you have
- 13:18Speaker 3: to write those checks? Do you get the number of
- 13:20Speaker 3: what you owe? Them because the percentage kind of right.
- 13:22Speaker 3: The percentage sounds like, oh it's only ten percent, it's
- 13:24Speaker 3: only fifteen percent.
- 13:26Speaker 2: When you look at the number, you're like, yeah, I
- 13:29Speaker 2: look at my bank account every day. Wow, really every day.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Sometimes that stress me out, man.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I look, I am really insecure and neurotic about not
- 13:43Speaker 2: having any money again because I've been there, and so
- 13:45Speaker 2: I watch it all the time. I watch it if
- 13:46Speaker 2: I've been getting scammed, see, I watch like what I'm spending,
- 13:50Speaker 2: See who'sh all of it. Sometimes I will tell my
- 13:53Speaker 2: wife spend more money because she'll be like, I know,
- 13:55Speaker 2: weird you are about stuff. I don't know. We're not
- 13:57Speaker 2: gonna spend any money.
- 13:58Speaker 3: That's a good day.
- 13:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, hey, like there's not been a single charge,
- 14:01Speaker 2: like what you like, buy We're good?
- 14:04Speaker 3: Is she like you got it?
- 14:06Speaker 2: No she can't.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I'm like, give me the car keys.
- 14:11Speaker 2: No. And I don't know if it was ever liked that,
- 14:14Speaker 2: I don't know how it reacts.
- 14:16Speaker 3: That's good for it.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're kind of glad. It's not like that
- 14:20Speaker 2: kind of But I am like, hey, but I look
- 14:24Speaker 2: at everything all the time. Where my business manager knows
- 14:26Speaker 2: I look at everything all the time.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Do you know when you get paid?
- 14:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, dude, there are some on the wee
- 14:31Speaker 2: because we get paid the fifteenth, in the last day
- 14:33Speaker 2: of the month. Yeah, thirtieth. There are days where if
- 14:36Speaker 2: I'm awake at twelve, I'll look at see it posted,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and then I get breakdowns of everything.
- 14:40Speaker 3: That's good man, because you read those stories of like
- 14:44Speaker 3: artists getting like their money, people like skimming them out
- 14:47Speaker 3: of like millions of dollars and they never knew because
- 14:51Speaker 3: they don't check balances, They didn't look at their bank account.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And mostly even more than that, it's because they didn't
- 14:57Speaker 2: know money to begin with, and then they didn't check.
- 15:01Speaker 2: So most people that grow up understanding money, which I
- 15:06Speaker 2: did not, at least know how much is coming in
- 15:09Speaker 2: and what it kind of should be. Where if you're
- 15:12Speaker 2: like from a small town or you grow up poor
- 15:14Speaker 2: and all of a sudden you get your ball player,
- 15:16Speaker 2: you got money, what do they really get in trouble
- 15:18Speaker 2: is they don't take taxes out if you are what
- 15:22Speaker 2: do they call it, if you're just working for yourself
- 15:24Speaker 2: proprietor whatever close indepredated contract thank you might get a
- 15:27Speaker 2: pedit contractor because I have jobs where I do that,
- 15:29Speaker 2: like my television work, all independent contract jobs. So if
- 15:33Speaker 2: they say we're going to pay you fifty thousand dollars,
- 15:35Speaker 2: it comes as fifty thousand dollars. It's up to me
- 15:37Speaker 2: take the taxes out. That's my business manager. So a
- 15:40Speaker 2: lot of times these people to get in trouble for taxes.
- 15:42Speaker 2: They're getting in trouble because not because they were like,
- 15:45Speaker 2: oh screw the government. It's because they don't know that
- 15:49Speaker 2: what they got is money. They then have to go
- 15:51Speaker 2: figure out what to pay in and then like a
- 15:54Speaker 2: Dane Cook, which was his brother, was his money guy,
- 15:58Speaker 2: you just trust them wholeheartedly. One you don't know money
- 16:00Speaker 2: and toil. You trust what they're doing the right thing.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And then it gets so lost that even when you
- 16:06Speaker 2: do find it, millions are gone, there's nothing you can
- 16:08Speaker 2: do about it.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Right, Like Baker Mayfield right with that oh yeah company,
- 16:11Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, Billy Joel.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yeah, tell me about that, Billy Joel.
- 16:15Speaker 3: The same thing. He had the money, he had a
- 16:16Speaker 3: financial guy, and he just took like millions of dollars,
- 16:19Speaker 3: had no idea that it was gone. It's crazy.
- 16:21Speaker 2: A lot of well, California's passed a new law, Mike,
- 16:24Speaker 2: have you seen this about influencers?
- 16:26Speaker 6: Wow?
- 16:27Speaker 2: If you use your kids in influencing, like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 2: if you use your kids in like a certain amount
- 16:32Speaker 2: of your social media content. I want to just make
- 16:34Speaker 2: up the number. I think it's abound forty percent. You
- 16:36Speaker 2: have to pay them certain amount and has to stay
- 16:38Speaker 2: in a trust. And so that's California only. No, everybody's
- 16:41Speaker 2: moving out of California.
- 16:42Speaker 3: They don't want to know that.
- 16:42Speaker 2: They don't want to have to. I know, they don't
- 16:44Speaker 2: have to pay their kids.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Crazy, that's terrible.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I was watching one and she was like, I prayed
- 16:48Speaker 2: about it, and God told me that we should move.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And it's like, no, no, you use your kids and
- 16:51Speaker 2: your content. Yeah, and so you don't want to you
- 16:55Speaker 2: should just say that.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Like, there's the kid Ryan. Remember Ryan's reviews? Yes, I mean, dude,
- 16:59Speaker 3: he made them so much money and yeah, I guess
- 17:02Speaker 3: legally they didn't have to give him any of the money.
- 17:04Speaker 3: They wanted to keep all the money they could. And
- 17:06Speaker 3: poor Ryan, that was his show.
- 17:08Speaker 2: You're saying, poor Ryan, do you not get the money?
- 17:10Speaker 1: No?
- 17:10Speaker 3: I don't know what that happened, but I mean with
- 17:12Speaker 3: this law, it's like they have to give him money.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, if they're in thirty percent of the content, they
- 17:16Speaker 2: have to set aside sixty five percent of the earnings
- 17:19Speaker 2: for the kids. Ohang, So with Ryan though, he's the
- 17:22Speaker 2: main person, he's the dude. So I'm assuming that's different
- 17:27Speaker 2: than a mom blogger who uses their kid and a
- 17:29Speaker 2: bunch that's not paying their kid. Like Ryan's the main dude.
- 17:34Speaker 6: Yeah, he should get all the money.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Then he should and the parents just look over it.
- 17:37Speaker 2: But like mcaulay colk and I think got a bunch
- 17:39Speaker 2: of money taken by his parents, Like there are those
- 17:40Speaker 2: Hollywood stories.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Especially back then too.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Probably Yeah, because you can't really log on. Yeah, I
- 17:46Speaker 2: think a big benefit now is at any point I
- 17:48Speaker 2: can get on my phone on apps.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And see that's so true?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Where back then? What do you do you drive to
- 17:53Speaker 2: the bank? Yeah, I'd like to see.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Please you wait for the letter to come in the mail. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 3: your statement.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how he got to the point.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I don't know either, but it's a good conversation.
- 18:02Speaker 7: Fun.
- 18:04Speaker 2: How do we get here? A free agents agency? You
- 18:10Speaker 2: are a free agent? You for many reasons. One didn't
- 18:13Speaker 2: make you sign a contract. You you can leave it
- 18:15Speaker 2: anytime two you're actually out anyway. If today is March third,
- 18:22Speaker 2: in March and that's it, you have less than two
- 18:24Speaker 2: months here months? Do you know where you're gonna live yet?
- 18:26Speaker 6: No? I told no I wouldn't tell you.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I was telling Tim, you don't tell me anything.
- 18:30Speaker 6: Anything we have here from I will find out on
- 18:33Speaker 6: your birthday.
- 18:35Speaker 3: My birthday Mars Shony first, marwent first.
- 18:37Speaker 2: It was your birthday this weekend too.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
- 18:40Speaker 3: You have to stop doing that. People are telling me,
- 18:42Speaker 3: have your birthday all year.
- 18:44Speaker 2: It's my favorite bit, like six times a year, like
- 18:46Speaker 2: six times a year.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Somebody care to me the other day was They're like,
- 18:54Speaker 3: I'm so sorry I sent you a text on your
- 18:56Speaker 3: actual birthday and then realized it was your birthday, like
- 18:58Speaker 3: it wasn't my birthday.
- 19:00Speaker 2: IBAN just does that crap to me. It's the bit
- 19:03Speaker 2: that doesn't die. It's almost like, and I don't mind
- 19:05Speaker 2: talking about it openly here on this show. It's almost
- 19:08Speaker 2: like the Otown bit where ten years ago I made
- 19:14Speaker 2: the joke that I was one of the original members
- 19:15Speaker 2: of Otown, but then I told our listeners I'm making
- 19:18Speaker 2: this joke, but you're now in on the inside joke.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I was never a part of Otown, and Otown was
- 19:23Speaker 2: formed on a television show. There were no early days
- 19:25Speaker 2: of Otown. So for ten years I've just said I've
- 19:29Speaker 2: been a member of Otown, especially way early in the
- 19:31Speaker 2: band before they ever had a hit, and I left.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Couldn't really cut it once they got famous. I couldn't
- 19:37Speaker 2: really sing good enough to be in a vocal group.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And I'm super happy for their success. But I've just
- 19:42Speaker 2: kept the bit going. I got committed to the bit
- 19:44Speaker 2: ten years later. And tomorrow night at the Million Dollars Show,
- 19:46Speaker 2: We're going to reform.
- 19:47Speaker 7: They're here.
- 19:47Speaker 2: We rehearsed last night.
- 19:48Speaker 6: That's all that.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Had you ever run the joke by them?
- 19:52Speaker 2: No? Yeah, to me is the best part.
- 19:55Speaker 1: No.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'd never met them or communicated them anyway until last night.
- 19:59Speaker 2: They showed up, and it felt a little weird because
- 20:03Speaker 2: I didn't know them too. I didn't want them to
- 20:05Speaker 2: think of making fun of them. I love Otown. Yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 2: it was just one day. I just was going to
- 20:09Speaker 2: pick a boy band that wasn't in sacred Backstreet Boys.
- 20:11Speaker 2: It could have easily been ninety degrees gone. Yeah, it
- 20:14Speaker 2: could have easily been but I like Otown better because I.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Love at all.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Nothing at all, that's a jam, right, And so I
- 20:22Speaker 2: picked them and they came in. I didn't quite know
- 20:27Speaker 2: what to say, brothers. And so they walked in, and
- 20:32Speaker 2: three of them of the four because Ashley Ashley died.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I didn't know they lost a member.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And so three of the four were there last
- 20:42Speaker 2: night at rehearsal, and they were all really nice, but
- 20:47Speaker 2: a couple of them were super like cool, like this
- 20:49Speaker 2: joke's finally gonna pay off. And I was like, oh,
- 20:51Speaker 2: I'm glad they see it like I did.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Good.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, So we practiced last last night and I still suck.
- 20:58Speaker 2: They should kick me out of the band again.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how it ends to kick you out again.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Well, so they didn't know me, and they thought I
- 21:06Speaker 2: was just hosting the concert because I wasn't part of
- 21:10Speaker 2: the rehearsal. Because if I get up and sing songs,
- 21:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna blow my voice out for the show. Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 2: So at this point I've learned don't. So I was there,
- 21:17Speaker 2: you and I split time. Rehearsal was like seven hours long.
- 21:20Speaker 2: So Eddie was up there and I got up. I
- 21:23Speaker 2: got there and Eddie was leaving and so we switched
- 21:26Speaker 2: out and then uh, they came in and I wasn't
- 21:31Speaker 2: on stage singing because Tracy Lawrence was up there Russell Dickerson's,
- 21:35Speaker 2: so they just thought that I pass it to different
- 21:37Speaker 2: people and I was like, no, no, no, like I
- 21:40Speaker 2: play and sing with every performance my whole band does.
- 21:43Speaker 2: They're like, oh, but then I have to say, but
- 21:44Speaker 2: I really can't sing. It was a weird thing where
- 21:46Speaker 2: it's like I sing with every performance, but I really
- 21:48Speaker 2: can't sing because then I have to. So we got
- 21:51Speaker 2: up and I'm singing Ashley's part and they were like,
- 21:56Speaker 2: do this part. And I'm a little nervous because come on,
- 21:59Speaker 2: they think I might can sing. I'm my, I don't mind.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Do you see the club over there? Let me find it, okay,
- 22:06Speaker 2: I don't mind planning here so that they're coming out,
- 22:12Speaker 2: and they do like they had a hit called Liquid
- 22:13Speaker 2: Dreams and it's the whole dance thing. And then they
- 22:16Speaker 2: do that and then I come back on and we
- 22:17Speaker 2: sing the big song together because I told them I
- 22:21Speaker 2: can't learn the choreography for the dance.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Champion.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Champion took me a week to learn a minute with.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Anybody so I done nothing else with a hard heart
- 22:31Speaker 3: word imagine though.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And so I said, hey, so let's organize this, and
- 22:36Speaker 2: so they're gonna do and then there's like a beat
- 22:40Speaker 2: and then it starts all or nothing starts and then
- 22:44Speaker 2: I come in and I was a little nervous because
- 22:47Speaker 2: I can't sing like that. They're pure vocalists, like they
- 22:51Speaker 2: just sing. They're like, oh, do you have a mic? Yeah,
- 22:54Speaker 2: so this is me. It's a it's in a rehearsal room.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Audio is not great, but you can hear it.
- 22:59Speaker 8: Go ahead, sing about it.
- 23:12Speaker 2: M Oh, I lose it there, I lose it there.
- 23:16Speaker 3: It slipped a little.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I feel like I can almost keep And I told him,
- 23:20Speaker 2: I said, come in or you gotta help him. You
- 23:23Speaker 2: gotta help him. I said, so I'll do a couple
- 23:25Speaker 2: of lines. But they were like, no, sing the whole thing.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm like, no, no, new new, you have the wrong
- 23:28Speaker 2: idea of what I'm trying to do here. I was liked,
- 23:30Speaker 2: I can just do background vocals. Aholl time like no,
- 23:32Speaker 2: we think you need to sing, and so do you
- 23:34Speaker 2: have another one? Yeah, here's another one, the wrong one.
- 23:44Speaker 7: Here we go.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So yeah, anyway, I just don't want to like be
- 24:00Speaker 2: so bad, I'm ruining it. So I'm just uh, there
- 24:03Speaker 2: are times it seems to me, lie.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Yes, yes, are you singing a lot? Like in the car,
- 24:15Speaker 3: the like every minute of the day.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Last night I went home and found it in the
- 24:18Speaker 2: key of G, which is what they sing it in. No, see,
- 24:20Speaker 2: they sing it in C.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And how did you find that?
- 24:22Speaker 2: I asked them. I was like, what key is? I
- 24:24Speaker 2: sing everything in G? And they're like, see, crap, Okay.
- 24:27Speaker 7: It's kind of close.
- 24:29Speaker 2: That's your key, we do, and so it's in C.
- 24:32Speaker 2: And so yeah, I found karaoke in the key C.
- 24:36Speaker 2: And then you're right, I keep If I keep the
- 24:39Speaker 2: notes close together, it's harder to screaping in those three notes.
- 24:42Speaker 2: There are times it seems to me, do do do
- 24:45Speaker 2: do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
- 24:48Speaker 2: Do do do.
- 24:51Speaker 3: That's gonna be fun.
- 24:52Speaker 2: That's so. Anyway, they were cool about the joke, and
- 24:56Speaker 2: they were like, this is super cool because it's charity
- 24:58Speaker 2: thing and it's fun. It's it's good. What are you
- 25:01Speaker 2: checking your head for?
- 25:02Speaker 6: So, like imagine if they walked in and they were like, hey, man,
- 25:04Speaker 6: I just want to say I don't I don't appreciate
- 25:06Speaker 6: you acting like you're part of this.
- 25:07Speaker 3: They wouldn't come. They wouldn't come, though, right, But what
- 25:10Speaker 3: would you correct?
- 25:10Speaker 2: What would you do? I don't think they would come.
- 25:13Speaker 2: And if they did that, I would go that, I
- 25:15Speaker 2: would go, Hey, I understand, I appreciate that. I can
- 25:17Speaker 2: understand why you would feel that way. But here's why
- 25:20Speaker 2: I've been saying this. It wasn't to make fun of you.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It was I liked you guys so much. I was
- 25:25Speaker 2: gonna insert myself in a boy man, I'm the age
- 25:27Speaker 2: of you guys. And it was just a running joke.
- 25:30Speaker 2: But they knew about the running joke. They've known about forever.
- 25:32Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 25:34Speaker 2: So yeah, that's that. That should be fun. So read
- 25:37Speaker 2: you are a free agent.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Free agent, baby, Do what you want, man, I don't
- 25:42Speaker 6: know what to do.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Do what you feel.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Oh wait, it's Ashley Parker Rangel not dead. I thought
- 25:49Speaker 2: that dude. I thought he was dead.
- 25:51Speaker 6: He's just on vacation.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Maybe he just out of the group. Let me see.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Hold on, he's forty three. I guess he's still alive.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I know the maybe I think I'm confusing him in
- 26:01Speaker 2: l FO. I know the LFO guy died of leukemia.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Which one what does he say?
- 26:06Speaker 2: What part of?
- 26:09Speaker 3: And then like, man, yeah, he's the main guy, he's
- 26:11Speaker 3: the main singer.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I think two of them have now died. In an
- 26:13Speaker 2: LFO I the reason I didn't pick LFO instead of Otown.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I remember thinking this in my head. Lf only had
- 26:21Speaker 2: three members and it was easier I needed more. Yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 2: smart man, Yeah, I think I got a mix up
- 26:28Speaker 2: because last night they were like singing Ashley's part and
- 26:29Speaker 2: I was like, rest in peace in my head, my head,
- 26:33Speaker 2: I guess, I guess he's not my god. He comes out,
- 26:38Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 26:40Speaker 7: Wow.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I really I'm glad I didn't say anything because I
- 26:43Speaker 2: really thought in my head. I really thought in my head, Okay,
- 26:47Speaker 2: I wanted this full disclosure here. I thought, in my head,
- 26:49Speaker 2: are people gonna get mad? I'm singing the dead guy's
- 26:50Speaker 2: part and I don't sing it well, Like, are they
- 26:52Speaker 2: going to get upset? Wow?
- 26:55Speaker 3: So there were five members of that band.
- 26:57Speaker 2: O resentally Yeah, and there's four now.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Did they play a lot? They tour.
- 27:03Speaker 2: They do a lot of shows now because everything from
- 27:05Speaker 2: like the nineties or two thousand is cool again. It's
- 27:07Speaker 2: like the country music artists that are touring again. Uh Okay, Rich,
- 27:11Speaker 2: the lead singer and co founder of LFO, died on
- 27:13Speaker 2: September Rade, twenty ten after battling leukemia. Devin passed away
- 27:17Speaker 2: in twenty eighteen due to a drenal cancer LFO. Dang
- 27:22Speaker 2: that sucks. Okay, Mike good Yep, they kind of went
- 27:27Speaker 2: to a place I didn't expect it to know the
- 27:29Speaker 2: whole conversation. We're gonna come back and talk to Bill O'Brien,
- 27:32Speaker 2: the head football coach of Boston College, who also was
- 27:35Speaker 2: the head football coach with the Texans, also was coaching
- 27:38Speaker 2: with Saban and Belichick with the Patriots. Okay, we'll come
- 27:42Speaker 2: back just a second. All right, We're gonna go over
- 27:48Speaker 2: to our interview with Bill O'Brien, head football coach of
- 27:50Speaker 2: Boston College. He was hired as the thirty seventh head
- 27:52Speaker 2: football coach last year. About this time last year, he
- 27:56Speaker 2: began coaching at Brown University in nineteen ninety three. He
- 27:59Speaker 2: has been the head coach of Penn State and the
- 28:01Speaker 2: Houston Texans. He was appointed the head coach of Boston College.
- 28:04Speaker 2: First year, went seven and six. Turned the program around already,
- 28:07Speaker 2: which is why I lead with one of the questions
- 28:09Speaker 2: like what was the ceiling.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah, he was.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Nicknamed Teapot during his time with New England Patriots. I
- 28:15Speaker 2: didn't ask him about that, don't know and don't care.
- 28:19Speaker 2: It feels like it feels like something.
- 28:21Speaker 3: He was a very emotional coach.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Is that why I heard?
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Brian Hoyer and Tom Brady. I would see him battles.
- 28:27Speaker 5: And he would get so heated that he would start crying,
- 28:30Speaker 5: so they called him Teapot.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I'm glad I didn't ask him about that.
- 28:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I think he's pretty open about it though.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Okay, but I'm still glad I didn't ask him about
- 28:38Speaker 2: tea pot. Sounds like a nickname your bullies name me.
- 28:43Speaker 2: He's also a distant cousin of Conan O'Brien and I
- 28:47Speaker 2: no way.
- 28:48Speaker 3: They both have the same last name, so yeah, that
- 28:50Speaker 3: makes sense.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Wow, Well, there's a lot of.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Bigger than anything he's ever done.
- 28:55Speaker 2: That's crazy distant though.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but still got the O'Brien last name.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I had seen a lot of clips of him being
- 29:02Speaker 2: very emotional on the sidelines, so going into this interview,
- 29:04Speaker 2: I was a little like, what's this guy get He's awesome? Yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 2: here he is coach Bill Obriant, Hey, coach, thanks for
- 29:11Speaker 2: the time. Really appreciate it.
- 29:12Speaker 7: Hey, Bobby, thanks for having me on. I appreciate it.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Hey, I was watching some Donovan as a Rocker stuff
- 29:17Speaker 2: this weekend. How important is it to you for the
- 29:21Speaker 2: future with future recruits that your guys go real high
- 29:24Speaker 2: in this draft.
- 29:24Speaker 9: Yeah, look, I think that that definitely helps. I think
- 29:27Speaker 9: it helps that we have four guys at the Combine,
- 29:32Speaker 9: you know, watching you know, these guys over the weekend,
- 29:35Speaker 9: you know, Donovan, Cam Horsley and then yesterday Ozzy Trapillo
- 29:39Speaker 9: and Drew Kendall. You know, those guys performed really well
- 29:42Speaker 9: at the Combine, So you know, for those guys to
- 29:45Speaker 9: be drafted you know, high, first, second, third, fourth round,
- 29:49Speaker 9: I think is uh it's a really good sign for
- 29:52Speaker 9: this program that we can get those type of guys
- 29:54Speaker 9: to come play here. So I think it would be
- 29:56Speaker 9: great to see those guys drafted high.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Whenever you took the job at BC, what did you
- 30:02Speaker 2: think the ceiling was on year one?
- 30:04Speaker 7: I don't think.
- 30:04Speaker 9: I don't I don't know if I looked at it
- 30:06Speaker 9: that way, I really wanted we got hired. I would
- 30:09Speaker 9: say a little bit late relative to most hirings. We
- 30:13Speaker 9: got hired about a year ago. It was around the
- 30:16Speaker 9: second week of February. So what I wanted to do
- 30:19Speaker 9: is try to establish the foundation of hard work and
- 30:23Speaker 9: toughness and being a good teammate and you know, going
- 30:27Speaker 9: to class and all the things that are giving back
- 30:29Speaker 9: to the community, all the things that are important at
- 30:31Speaker 9: Boston College. And then along the way, obviously want to
- 30:33Speaker 9: win some games. We lost games where we committed a
- 30:37Speaker 9: lot of mistakes. We got to learn how not to
- 30:38Speaker 9: lose before we can learn how to win. But we
- 30:40Speaker 9: won some games where we played sixty minutes and we
- 30:43Speaker 9: competed well, and so I think we got off to
- 30:45Speaker 9: a good start.
- 30:47Speaker 2: A little bit when you took that job where you're like,
- 30:48Speaker 2: our uniforms are so freaking legit.
- 30:53Speaker 9: I love I love the old uniforms the best. Probably
- 30:56Speaker 9: still trying to We're going with New Balance here pretty
- 31:00Speaker 9: soon in the summertime. So New Balance has done a
- 31:02Speaker 9: great job of helping us designed to go back to
- 31:05Speaker 9: those older you know, the Fluti uniforms, you know, the
- 31:09Speaker 9: ones that they wore back in the day, which I
- 31:11Speaker 9: think we're pretty cool. Those are the ones we're trying
- 31:13Speaker 9: to get back to.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I just think of the Hail Mary. That's the uniform
- 31:16Speaker 2: I think of when I think of BC is Fluty
- 31:18Speaker 2: and the hill Mary. Like, those uniforms are so legit
- 31:21Speaker 2: that I would be wanting to dress them like that
- 31:23Speaker 2: all the time.
- 31:24Speaker 9: Yeah, no doubt, I agree. I love, you know, the
- 31:28Speaker 9: maroon and gold. I kind of like the gold pants
- 31:31Speaker 9: with the maroon top every once in a while, which
- 31:33Speaker 9: you know, we're going to try to do a little
- 31:34Speaker 9: bit more of that moving forward.
- 31:36Speaker 7: But yeah, I'm with you. I love the uniform.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I'm curious about language and installing playbooks with new players.
- 31:44Speaker 2: I do a show with Matt Castle, who played with
- 31:46Speaker 2: the Patriots for a while, was like one of my
- 31:47Speaker 2: dear friends. We worked together every week and he was
- 31:50Speaker 2: kind of walking through quarterback language with us last week.
- 31:54Speaker 2: He year one like, how much do you actually of
- 31:57Speaker 2: the playbook you actually install?
- 32:00Speaker 9: Yeah, that's a great question. I would say we definitely
- 32:03Speaker 9: did not install the whole thing. We try to in
- 32:07Speaker 9: spring practice. You know, look at our team. Really it
- 32:11Speaker 9: starts in winter conditioning. Look at our team. What type
- 32:13Speaker 9: of team are we going to have? You know, where
- 32:15Speaker 9: are the straints right the on offense, the straints.
- 32:18Speaker 7: Last year, we're on the.
- 32:18Speaker 9: Offensive line and you know, the running backs, and we
- 32:21Speaker 9: felt like we could run the football. We we started
- 32:23Speaker 9: out with Tommy Castellanos was kind of a running quarterback,
- 32:26Speaker 9: did a lot of good things relative to using his feet.
- 32:30Speaker 9: So that's how we installed the offense. We look at
- 32:33Speaker 9: our team instead of just like putting everything in where
- 32:38Speaker 9: some of that might be a waste of time because
- 32:39Speaker 9: we're not going to really use all that. So that's
- 32:42Speaker 9: kind of how we did it here. I think moving forward,
- 32:45Speaker 9: we probably get most of it in this spring because
- 32:47Speaker 9: we've got a couple different types of quarterbacks and things
- 32:49Speaker 9: like that. So but last year we probably just put
- 32:52Speaker 9: it in relative to who we thought we were going
- 32:54Speaker 9: to be.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I've spent a bunch time in Boston. I've toured through
- 32:57Speaker 2: Boston a bunch of times, played the Wilburin like I
- 32:59Speaker 2: love that. I love as I love Massachusetts because it's
- 33:02Speaker 2: an honest it's an honest state. It's a very honest city.
- 33:06Speaker 2: What's tough for me, though, is how cold it is.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Is this your coldest job ever?
- 33:12Speaker 7: Yeah? Well, you know what it is today.
- 33:15Speaker 9: You know you're asking it on a good day because
- 33:17Speaker 9: today's March third, I think, and it's like nine degrees.
- 33:20Speaker 9: So yeah, it's definitely the coldest job. I mean, I
- 33:24Speaker 9: was at penn State for a couple of years. It
- 33:25Speaker 9: got cold there in the middle of Pennsylvania, but not
- 33:28Speaker 9: quite like Boston. So yeah, it's definitely especially this year,
- 33:31Speaker 9: it's been been you know, record setting cold temperatures here
- 33:36Speaker 9: over the last couple of weeks.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I saw see the tickets are sold out, which has
- 33:39Speaker 2: got to be big year. Two season tickets already sold out.
- 33:42Speaker 7: I think it's big, Bobby, I really do. I appreciate
- 33:45Speaker 7: you mentioning that.
- 33:46Speaker 9: I do think it's big because you know, look at
- 33:48Speaker 9: it shows that people, you know, they're excited about what
- 33:51Speaker 9: maybe they saw at points last year, and and and
- 33:56Speaker 9: you know, we have a great home schedule. Next year
- 33:58Speaker 9: we're playing three playoff teams. Very difficult schedule, but a
- 34:01Speaker 9: really good schedule for people to come, you know, watch
- 34:04Speaker 9: good college football. So you know, I'm excited about that.
- 34:07Speaker 9: I you know, I really think that this is a job.
- 34:10Speaker 9: You know, I always say it's a pro sports town.
- 34:12Speaker 9: Everybody understands that, but we play on Saturdays, and you know,
- 34:15Speaker 9: if we can put a good product on the field.
- 34:16Speaker 9: Hopefully a lot of people come watch us play.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Do your players often ask for comps for other players
- 34:22Speaker 2: that you've coached, because you have coached a lot of
- 34:24Speaker 2: different players in a lot of different places, and do
- 34:26Speaker 2: you do you comp most players?
- 34:27Speaker 9: You know, that's a great question. I do use that
- 34:30Speaker 9: at times. I never really try to say. I'm very
- 34:34Speaker 9: careful about how I say it though, right, Like, you know,
- 34:37Speaker 9: I'll never say, hey, you're exactly like this guy, but
- 34:39Speaker 9: I'll talk about some of the things that I learned
- 34:42Speaker 9: from some of the great players I've coached, right, obviously quarterbacks,
- 34:45Speaker 9: but also like wide receivers, offensive lineman. Hey, you know,
- 34:49Speaker 9: here's some things that I learned from this left tackle
- 34:51Speaker 9: that you know, I think you can really help you.
- 34:54Speaker 9: Instead of saying, hey, you're exactly like this guy, I
- 34:57Speaker 9: try to stay away from that, but I definitely use
- 35:00Speaker 9: cops when it comes to hey, man, I learned a
- 35:02Speaker 9: lot from this guy, And there's things that you can
- 35:04Speaker 9: apply to your game that I learned from, you know,
- 35:06Speaker 9: from this tight end or this wide receiver, or this
- 35:09Speaker 9: offensive line and this running back.
- 35:11Speaker 7: And I think I try to do it that way.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Do you ever use any old players you're still close
- 35:14Speaker 2: with for recruiting pitches.
- 35:15Speaker 9: You know what, I don't do that as much. I
- 35:17Speaker 9: really don't. What I do here is really use the
- 35:20Speaker 9: BC guys that played here, you know, the Matt Ryan's,
- 35:23Speaker 9: the Luke Keekleys. Those guys do help us in recruiting
- 35:29Speaker 9: and doing different things for us. I try not to.
- 35:32Speaker 9: I'm very you know, you just brought up Matt Castle, Like,
- 35:35Speaker 9: you know, I'm a friend of Matt Castle's.
- 35:37Speaker 7: He's an awesome guy.
- 35:38Speaker 9: I think when you step over the line of friendship, ayman,
- 35:41Speaker 9: can you help me with my job? I try not
- 35:45Speaker 9: to do that, you know what I mean. I try
- 35:46Speaker 9: not to do that as much, so you know, but
- 35:50Speaker 9: but you know, I have a lot of great friends
- 35:52Speaker 9: that were great players, so try to stay away from
- 35:55Speaker 9: that friendship.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Wise, a lot of culture with BC football, and when
- 35:59Speaker 2: you come in as coach, how quickly do you have
- 36:00Speaker 2: to like envelop the culture because you mentioned Matt Ryan,
- 36:03Speaker 2: you mentioned keik Ley, Like, I'm I don't know if
- 36:05Speaker 2: you had a relationship with those guys prior, but they
- 36:06Speaker 2: are a big part of BC and you want them
- 36:08Speaker 2: to be a part of it moving forward. Like, how
- 36:10Speaker 2: quickly do you establish those relationships.
- 36:13Speaker 9: That's important. That's a that is very very important. I
- 36:17Speaker 9: think within the first month or two that I was here,
- 36:20Speaker 9: I tried to make contact with over one hundred guys
- 36:22Speaker 9: that played here. Just a phone call, a text, Hey man,
- 36:26Speaker 9: really want you guys involved in the program, come back
- 36:29Speaker 9: and speak to us. You know, last year at spring
- 36:32Speaker 9: practice had a lot of former players come by. Matt
- 36:34Speaker 9: Hasselbeck and you know, Matt Ryan, and you know, just
- 36:39Speaker 9: a ton of guys, Matthias Kiwanuka we've made contact with.
- 36:43Speaker 9: You know, Zay Flowers is a guy that's playing at
- 36:46Speaker 9: a high level right now that stays in contact with
- 36:48Speaker 9: the program. And there's several others so and from different
- 36:52Speaker 9: eras too. Right obviously we mentioned Flutie and Gerard Fallon.
- 36:55Speaker 9: They came into the locker room after a game that
- 36:57Speaker 9: we won this past season. So yeah, I think the
- 37:00Speaker 9: alumni is a huge part of this program, and we
- 37:03Speaker 9: try to do as good a job as we can
- 37:04Speaker 9: of reaching out to them and keeping them involved all
- 37:06Speaker 9: the time.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Do you feel like your history in the NFL Pro
- 37:10Speaker 2: football has helped you now in college because of the
- 37:12Speaker 2: portal and nil and you've had experience with that.
- 37:15Speaker 9: I do think it helps to a certain extent. I
- 37:17Speaker 9: mean people say that, you know, hey, this is a
- 37:21Speaker 9: lot like the NFL. Now, I mean it is when
- 37:24Speaker 9: it comes to some things, but it's still not exactly
- 37:27Speaker 9: like the NFL.
- 37:28Speaker 7: I mean, I think.
- 37:28Speaker 9: That there are certain things that you have to you know,
- 37:33Speaker 9: understand about college, about Boston College, that's different than the NFL.
- 37:37Speaker 9: But there are things relative to you know, how you
- 37:40Speaker 9: value your team when it comes to you know, name,
- 37:43Speaker 9: image and likeness, when it comes to revshare, how you're
- 37:45Speaker 9: going to compensate your team. Okay, here's how we value
- 37:49Speaker 9: the team. The way we value the team at Boston
- 37:51Speaker 9: College would be different than the way we value the
- 37:53Speaker 9: team at the Houston Texans, for instance, but the concept
- 37:56Speaker 9: of putting a value on a player is similar. And
- 38:00Speaker 9: so I think that's an area where we try to
- 38:02Speaker 9: use our NFL experience and apply it to the best
- 38:05Speaker 9: of our ability. There's other things, though, that are a
- 38:07Speaker 9: lot different in in you know, my experience in both
- 38:11Speaker 9: college and pro have have helped me here.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Who are your favorite three musical artists?
- 38:16Speaker 7: Coach ooh.
- 38:20Speaker 9: I would say, without a doubt, Luke Combs. Love Luke Combs.
- 38:26Speaker 9: I've got different music tastes. So I'm gonna tell you
- 38:28Speaker 9: right now, Rick Ross. I love Rick Ross, the third one.
- 38:34Speaker 9: You know, it's hard, it's hard for me to say,
- 38:37Speaker 9: but I you know, I like groups like you two,
- 38:41Speaker 9: So I love Bono and there's many many others. But
- 38:45Speaker 9: I have a If you looked at a playlist of mine,
- 38:47Speaker 9: you see a lot of different. I love music and
- 38:51Speaker 9: our players always but we play music at practice and
- 38:53Speaker 9: they're always like, let me see your playlist, and they
- 38:55Speaker 9: just cannot believe what's on my playlist.
- 38:57Speaker 7: It's different.
- 38:58Speaker 9: There's everything from country to to hard rock to Metallica's
- 39:03Speaker 9: up there, you know what I mean, Like, I love
- 39:04Speaker 9: them all.
- 39:04Speaker 2: You'd be the first person ever to go combs to
- 39:07Speaker 2: Rick Ross ever in the history. Like we were at
- 39:10Speaker 2: the airport a few weeks ago. We saw Rick Ross's
- 39:12Speaker 2: plane come in, Like he's got a mass of jet
- 39:14Speaker 2: with his name on the side of it, Like it
- 39:16Speaker 2: is the greatest personalized license plate. Is his airplane with
- 39:19Speaker 2: his name on the side of it.
- 39:21Speaker 7: So you the best?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, do you know him?
- 39:23Speaker 3: Coach?
- 39:24Speaker 9: I actually met him. I met him because when when
- 39:27Speaker 9: I was in Houston, we had hard knocks and in
- 39:30Speaker 9: the type of rappers that I really like are the
- 39:35Speaker 9: guys with the deep That's why I love Rick Ross.
- 39:37Speaker 9: Got a really deep voice in the way that he
- 39:40Speaker 9: the way that you know that he does his music
- 39:42Speaker 9: is awesome to me. So I would say during practice
- 39:45Speaker 9: we would play some Rick Ross and I would always say,
- 39:47Speaker 9: I love Rick Ross on hard Knock. So he came
- 39:49Speaker 9: to a game that following year and I was able
- 39:51Speaker 9: to meet him. It was pretty cool.
- 39:53Speaker 2: You talk about hard knocks. So none of the NFL
- 39:55Speaker 2: teams wanted to do it this year, so they're going
- 39:57Speaker 2: to go to Belichick at North Carolina. But what was
- 39:59Speaker 2: that process like for you guys? Did it get kind
- 40:01Speaker 2: of annoying the cameras?
- 40:03Speaker 9: It's a tough that's a tough deal. That's a tough deal. Now,
- 40:06Speaker 9: they the people that run Hard Knocks are awesome. They
- 40:11Speaker 9: do a really good job of, you know, communicating with
- 40:15Speaker 9: you and telling you what it's going to be. But
- 40:17Speaker 9: it is at that time in Houston, it was forty
- 40:22Speaker 9: days and it was twenty four to seven, so the
- 40:25Speaker 9: cameras are on you. I mean I had to I
- 40:27Speaker 9: would tell them like, hey, I'm going to the use
- 40:30Speaker 9: the restroom right now.
- 40:31Speaker 7: You don't need to follow me, you know what I mean.
- 40:33Speaker 9: Like it was like two cameras in your office, cameras
- 40:36Speaker 9: in every meeting, cameras in every team meeting, cameras on
- 40:39Speaker 9: the field.
- 40:39Speaker 7: That was it was very Uh, it was tough.
- 40:42Speaker 9: It was tough. You know a lot of people watch it.
- 40:45Speaker 9: There's a lot of narratives that are formed.
- 40:49Speaker 7: From it.
- 40:50Speaker 9: But you know, look, ownership wanted it, and uh, you
- 40:53Speaker 9: know that's what we did. But it was it was
- 40:54Speaker 9: definitely a difficult deal for me personally.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Narratives are a weird thing in television. I did a
- 40:59Speaker 2: reality show, a competition show once, and they would just
- 41:02Speaker 2: create storylines out of random things they would pick, and
- 41:05Speaker 2: all of a sudden there was a story that was
- 41:08Speaker 2: kind of true but not really right. That's probably what
- 41:11Speaker 2: they were doing, like picking, like cherry picking things and
- 41:14Speaker 2: making stories out of them.
- 41:16Speaker 9: Yeah, cherry picking certain things that maybe weren't as big
- 41:19Speaker 9: of a deal as they made it to be. But again,
- 41:22Speaker 9: you know, their job is to you know, get as
- 41:24Speaker 9: many viewers as possible, and they did. I think, I
- 41:27Speaker 9: want to say there was about four million people that
- 41:29Speaker 9: watched every episode, which I guess at that time was
- 41:32Speaker 9: a big deal. We were one of the few teams
- 41:34Speaker 9: that made the playoffs after Usually you go on hard knocks,
- 41:37Speaker 9: you don't have a good season. But we were one
- 41:39Speaker 9: of the few teams that actually made the playoffs that
- 41:41Speaker 9: year after being on hard knocks, So we kind of overcame.
- 41:44Speaker 9: I think the other thing it creates on the team,
- 41:46Speaker 9: which I didn't like, was it created like, Okay, if
- 41:49Speaker 9: you're doing a big story on this guy, well, I
- 41:52Speaker 9: want I want something done on me and my family.
- 41:55Speaker 9: You know, because we had a lot of great players
- 41:57Speaker 9: on those that team in Houston. You know, we had
- 41:59Speaker 9: everybody from We had Hall of Famers, we had JJ Watt,
- 42:02Speaker 9: we had DeAndre Hopkins, we had Vince will Fork on
- 42:04Speaker 9: that team. We had you know, a lot of Brian Cushing,
- 42:07Speaker 9: some great players on that team. And you know, that's
- 42:10Speaker 9: kind of what it causes. It's about creating your own
- 42:12Speaker 9: brand in a team sport while the game.
- 42:15Speaker 7: Is going on. That's not really conducive to building a team.
- 42:19Speaker 2: What are you guys doing right now at football operation wise?
- 42:22Speaker 2: Like what is the time of year do.
- 42:25Speaker 9: So we just got done with basically a seven week
- 42:28Speaker 9: winter conditioning period and then the guys are on spring
- 42:32Speaker 9: break right now, and then when they come back, we
- 42:35Speaker 9: start spring practice on Tuesday, March eleventh, which is about
- 42:38Speaker 9: it lasts about a month, and it's about fifteen practices.
- 42:42Speaker 9: It's about three three practices a week for about five weeks,
- 42:46Speaker 9: and then from there they head into summer training. After
- 42:49Speaker 9: final exams in May, they head into summer training after that.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Some schools are not doing a spring game. Where are
- 42:54Speaker 2: you guys on that?
- 42:56Speaker 7: Yeah, I do. Look, I do kind of agree with that.
- 42:59Speaker 9: I think here it be see the reasons for not
- 43:01Speaker 9: doing one will be that it's really not you know,
- 43:06Speaker 9: look last year we had a spring game. It wasn't
- 43:08Speaker 9: that well attended. You know, it's not it's not as
- 43:11Speaker 9: big of a deal as it is as you know,
- 43:13Speaker 9: like when I was at Alabama the ninety thousand people there.
- 43:16Speaker 9: So that's that's not really a money maker.
- 43:19Speaker 7: And then for.
- 43:20Speaker 9: Us, you know, we we're all about in spring practice,
- 43:23Speaker 9: the actual practice. So what we're gonna do is we're
- 43:26Speaker 9: gonna produce kind of a behind the scenes not a documentary,
- 43:31Speaker 9: but something that shows our team in a good light
- 43:34Speaker 9: relative to our spring practice. And that's how we'll you know,
- 43:38Speaker 9: market our program during the spring but spring games, you know,
- 43:42Speaker 9: I don't I don't know how big they are anymore.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Coach, I'm gonna ask you in conclusion here about a
- 43:47Speaker 2: few people specifically, and if you don't mind just giving
- 43:49Speaker 2: me a little story about him, and I want to
- 43:50Speaker 2: start with Castle because I'll be with him tomorrow we
- 43:52Speaker 2: do an NFL show. Can you give me a Matt
- 43:54Speaker 2: Castle story? What comes to mind?
- 43:56Speaker 7: Oh my god, I got several Matt Castle stories.
- 44:00Speaker 9: First of all, Matt was a guy that was so
- 44:02Speaker 9: well prepared and so when his time came in two
- 44:05Speaker 9: thousand and eight, he was ready to go. And that's
- 44:07Speaker 9: an example that I use all the time. Hey, you
- 44:09Speaker 9: never know when your time's gonna come. And that was
- 44:11Speaker 9: in the very first game of two thousand and eight.
- 44:13Speaker 9: I was the wide receiver coach and Tom got hurt
- 44:16Speaker 9: and Matt had to step up, and he did and
- 44:18Speaker 9: we went eleven and five. I think we're one of
- 44:20Speaker 9: the few eleven and five teams to not make the playoffs.
- 44:23Speaker 9: You know, we had a good football team and Matt
- 44:24Speaker 9: did a great job. But one of the best stories
- 44:26Speaker 9: about Matt real quick is we had these quarterback meetings
- 44:30Speaker 9: with Bill like once a week. They were awesome, And
- 44:34Speaker 9: I've told this story before. You know, Bill would come
- 44:37Speaker 9: in there and I learned a ton of these meetings Bill.
- 44:39Speaker 9: Bill did a great job of working with Josh and
- 44:42Speaker 9: at that time and kind of coaching the quarterbacks up
- 44:45Speaker 9: around you know, quarterback play around the league in our practices.
- 44:49Speaker 9: It was just you learned a ton. But in this
- 44:51Speaker 9: one particular meeting, Bill came in and he didn't have
- 44:54Speaker 9: any stocks on. So Castle is sitting there and you know,
- 44:58Speaker 9: it didn't smell great. So you know, Bill had taken
- 45:01Speaker 9: his shoes off and he had his feet up and
- 45:03Speaker 9: he's showing the film, and all of a sudden, Castle
- 45:05Speaker 9: like Castles like, what what is that smell? And so
- 45:09Speaker 9: everybody's kind of like, oh my god. Like Matt, Matt
- 45:12Speaker 9: doesn't as you know, Matt does not really care about
- 45:14Speaker 9: the awkwardness that he's creating.
- 45:18Speaker 7: So he just said it again. He's like, what is
- 45:20Speaker 7: that smell? And so then.
- 45:23Speaker 9: Finally it was like Matt said, Bill, is that your feet?
- 45:27Speaker 9: And Bill just looked over at him and said, Matt
- 45:30Speaker 9: just shut the death up and we went right back
- 45:32Speaker 9: to the film.
- 45:34Speaker 2: That's funny. I have two others you mentioned, JJ Watt
- 45:39Speaker 2: can you give me a JJ Watt story?
- 45:41Speaker 9: I mean, JJ Watt. I have a bunch of stories.
- 45:44Speaker 9: One of the ones I tell a lot about JJ
- 45:46Speaker 9: Watt is we were playing Baltimore. I think it was
- 45:49Speaker 9: my first year there, and we had to win the game,
- 45:53Speaker 9: uh to have a shot to go to the playoffs.
- 45:56Speaker 9: And so we drove down and scored. They get the
- 45:58Speaker 9: ball back. Joe Flacco's there, quarterback. They got a hell
- 46:00Speaker 9: of a team, and they're driving basically to kick a
- 46:04Speaker 9: winning field goal. I think we're up by two, and
- 46:08Speaker 9: so you know they're throwing the ball and you know
- 46:11Speaker 9: it's getting near the fifty yard line, getting not close
- 46:15Speaker 9: to field goal range, but getting to that point where
- 46:17Speaker 9: we had to So there was kind of a stoppage
- 46:19Speaker 9: in play. And basically what told me, Hey, basically, if
- 46:23Speaker 9: you use a time out right here, I can catch
- 46:26Speaker 9: my breath, I will win the game. It's almost like
- 46:30Speaker 9: Babe Ruth calling his own shot, like I'll sack the quarterback,
- 46:33Speaker 9: I'll win the game.
- 46:34Speaker 7: So I did.
- 46:35Speaker 9: I use the timeout, gave gave JJ a little bit
- 46:39Speaker 9: of a rest, and then the very next play he
- 46:42Speaker 9: comes off the edge, strip sacks, strip sacks. Joe Flacco
- 46:46Speaker 9: covered a fumble, we win the game.
- 46:48Speaker 2: That's so legit. One final, one, final one. We're able
- 46:52Speaker 2: to see not only coach Belichick, who I met at
- 46:54Speaker 2: Super Bowl last week, and he was like personable, not
- 46:57Speaker 2: like what I would see on television. And this same
- 46:59Speaker 2: thing with like press conference. Nick Saban's different than like
- 47:02Speaker 2: media Nick Saban. What was it like? Give me a
- 47:04Speaker 2: coach Sabin story because you went over there for a bit.
- 47:07Speaker 2: What was he like to work under?
- 47:09Speaker 7: Oh? Nick was great to work under.
- 47:11Speaker 9: I learned a ton from him because I hadn't been
- 47:13Speaker 9: in college football for a long time, and he he
- 47:18Speaker 9: brought a great uh you know, he brought insight into
- 47:22Speaker 9: how an organization really runs.
- 47:24Speaker 7: Like it was like clockwork.
- 47:25Speaker 9: You know, if the meeting was going to start at
- 47:28Speaker 9: seven thirty, started at seven thirty. And he had he
- 47:31Speaker 9: had a great routine about you know, football recruiting, medical academics, nutrition.
- 47:38Speaker 9: You know, he had a really good outline of how
- 47:41Speaker 9: the program would work and what we covered on a
- 47:43Speaker 9: daily basis. And offensively, he would bring a lot of
- 47:46Speaker 9: defensive knowledge to our offense to help us game plan.
- 47:49Speaker 9: So you know, he he taught me a lot and
- 47:52Speaker 9: I very demanding coach, very disciplined coach. You could tell
- 47:56Speaker 9: right away why he won so much there, the way
- 47:59Speaker 9: we practiced, the way we did things on a daily basis.
- 48:01Speaker 7: But yeah, he was great to work for.
- 48:03Speaker 2: One final BC question, I was looking at you guys
- 48:05Speaker 2: home versus away record and your home record I think
- 48:08Speaker 2: with six and one if I'm accurate here, Yeah, what
- 48:10Speaker 2: about playing there? What what do you want to be
- 48:14Speaker 2: difficult for other teams when they come in?
- 48:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I think we have to continue to really get
- 48:18Speaker 9: our crowd going. When we have a good crowd here,
- 48:21Speaker 9: which we did Michigan State Syracuse. It's a smaller stadium,
- 48:26Speaker 9: but it can get loud, and I think that's the key,
- 48:29Speaker 9: Like if we can give people a good product to
- 48:32Speaker 9: cheer for. We have great student body here. They come
- 48:35Speaker 9: to every game. We have nine thousand students and they
- 48:37Speaker 9: all come to the game and that's a big part
- 48:39Speaker 9: of our our stadium experience. But I think we've got
- 48:42Speaker 9: to do as good a job as we can of
- 48:43Speaker 9: continuing to sell the stadium out so that we can
- 48:46Speaker 9: create a really good home field advantage with our crowd,
- 48:48Speaker 9: because I think that's that that really helps us a
- 48:51Speaker 9: lot well.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Our show's on the Bowl in Boston, and I love
- 48:54Speaker 2: the BC colors. I love the Jersey's uniforms. And now
- 48:57Speaker 2: that we're buddies, I'm in, Coach, I'm fully in. I'm in.
- 49:00Speaker 7: Come on up, Bobby. We'd love to have you at
- 49:01Speaker 7: a game anytime.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Appreciate it. And I have a great week. Good luck
- 49:06Speaker 2: with spring ball. And uh yeah, hopefully I get to
- 49:09Speaker 2: come up this year. See you, coach.
- 49:10Speaker 7: That'd be awesome. Thank you, Bobby. Appreciate it.
- 49:17Speaker 2: A couple of things. The Rules Committee for NCAA football
- 49:20Speaker 2: has come up with a fresh idea they hope will
- 49:21Speaker 2: combat the trend of faking injuries. The proposed rule would
- 49:25Speaker 2: see a team charged an injury time out if a
- 49:27Speaker 2: player goes down with an injury after the ball is
- 49:29Speaker 2: spotted for the next play and medical personnel enter the field.
- 49:33Speaker 2: If a team's out of timeouts, there'd be a five
- 49:35Speaker 2: yard penalty for delay a game. All proposed rules from
- 49:38Speaker 2: the committee must be approved on April sixteenth of this year.
- 49:41Speaker 2: They gotta do something. I don't know if this is it.
- 49:43Speaker 2: This sounds pretty fair. I like if somebody goes down,
- 49:45Speaker 2: they're out the whole series. Like if somebody has to
- 49:47Speaker 2: come on. They got to be out the whole series. Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 2: there's probably a reason, a comment sense reason that would
- 49:52Speaker 2: go with my reason. There's probably something dumb I'm not
- 49:54Speaker 2: thinking about. But I felt like, and you know what,
- 49:58Speaker 2: the people that complain about it are the people who's
- 50:00Speaker 2: teams don't do it because they're not good enough to
- 50:04Speaker 2: really like it's a strategic thing. If I were a coach,
- 50:07Speaker 2: I think I would have them faking it better because
- 50:09Speaker 2: sometimes they were just like they drop you smile on
- 50:13Speaker 2: their face, yeah, or you seem like, oh, I'm supposed
- 50:15Speaker 2: to drop.
- 50:15Speaker 7: Yes.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Yes, we would eliminate that immediately.
- 50:18Speaker 3: And it's a team effort because then the trainers come
- 50:19Speaker 3: out and they're freaking.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Yeah, they're texting, they're standing over someone's ankle, playing candy Crush.
- 50:26Speaker 3: It's definitely a team effort of fakers.
- 50:29Speaker 2: That's what we would do. We would make sure to
- 50:30Speaker 2: do it right. So it has to be fixed though,
- 50:33Speaker 2: But the teams like ole miss the teams that do
- 50:36Speaker 2: this a lot, like I'm jealous of that because they
- 50:40Speaker 2: strategically use it to position themselves better in games to
- 50:44Speaker 2: win games. We just don't win enough games.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you if you were to say, like
- 50:47Speaker 3: your rule of where you just you're out of the
- 50:48Speaker 3: whole drive, right, is that your rule? Yes, then you
- 50:51Speaker 3: just throw. It's like hockey throwing the enforcer, Like throw in, Hey, Tommy,
- 50:54Speaker 3: you've been never played this whole year, Like get in there.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I need you to fall. It's okay, you're gonna miss
- 50:58Speaker 3: the entire game anyway, no big deal.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Oh but if if you do that, they can't come
- 51:02Speaker 2: in without a play, run and fall. You can't check
- 51:04Speaker 2: into the game and get injured before play.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Runs, right, you have to play that one play.
- 51:07Speaker 2: But you find you find that vulnerability. If I'm a
- 51:10Speaker 2: quarterback and I see Tommy who's never played, if I
- 51:12Speaker 2: see number sixty three playing corner. Wait, you don't think
- 51:16Speaker 2: we're picking on Tommy.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, a good point.
- 51:19Speaker 2: March Madness coming up. You be excited about it or.
- 51:21Speaker 3: No, I need it. I need March madness. Gosh, I
- 51:24Speaker 3: cannot wait. And it's really cool because it all surrounds
- 51:26Speaker 3: my birthday, like it's March twenty first, it usually starts
- 51:29Speaker 3: around that time, and so my birthday instead of like
- 51:32Speaker 3: happy Birthday on the wall, my wife puts happy March
- 51:34Speaker 3: Madness on the wall. It's a whole family thing. But
- 51:37Speaker 3: more importantly, dude, I'm starting to bet on NASCAR and golf,
- 51:40Speaker 3: like I need you need I need something else you
- 51:42Speaker 3: need it. Like this weekend, I was betting on golf.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I had no idea who was playing. I saw Jordan
- 51:47Speaker 3: Spieth in there. He wasn't doing too well. Ricky Fowler,
- 51:50Speaker 3: he wasn't doing great. The rest of the guys had
- 51:52Speaker 3: no idea who it was.
- 51:53Speaker 2: I was watching the Arkansas South Carolina game, which is
- 51:56Speaker 2: horribly embarrassing because we got to be by a team
- 51:58Speaker 2: that had one conference win, and we're trying to get
- 51:59Speaker 2: in the turn and so we drop and it's like
- 52:02Speaker 2: fifteen to three and the game starts and I'm like, well,
- 52:06Speaker 2: we're not gonna lose by this much. I had like
- 52:08Speaker 2: nine hundred dolls on my account. I put it all
- 52:10Speaker 2: on like Arkansas plus eight. We got CRUs I lost
- 52:14Speaker 2: nine hundred dollars because I was like, there's no way
- 52:17Speaker 2: this is gonna happen all game. They're so bad South Carolina. No,
- 52:19Speaker 2: they they crushed us.
- 52:20Speaker 3: They took the leader earlier, right, and you guys never
- 52:22Speaker 3: caught up.
- 52:22Speaker 2: We barely had ten points in the in the half.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I think we had fourteen points a half. It was
- 52:26Speaker 2: the worst half Varkansas raizorback basketball in like twentieth century.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Maybe maybe seventeen. You might have had seventeen points fifteen.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Maybe whatever it is, it was the worst.
- 52:33Speaker 3: I did see that. I'm like, oh my gosh. They
- 52:35Speaker 3: cost me four hundred dollars. They were the only leg
- 52:37Speaker 3: I didn't hit on a nine leg parlay.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Well together, thirteen hundred dollars loss, which it's send caliparia.
- 52:43Speaker 3: I did lose one dollar though technically one unit.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Oh that's true, so again fair enough we lost one. Yes,
- 52:50Speaker 2: I lost nine hundred. Kevin's not here. He got married,
- 52:54Speaker 2: He's gone, he could he's on honeymoon. I guess he's
- 52:58Speaker 2: on some tropical land. He's on holiday, on holiday, on holiday.
- 53:04Speaker 2: We didn't go to the wedding. I mean I didn't
- 53:05Speaker 2: go to the wedding.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I didn't know. I think it was a very private wedding.
- 53:08Speaker 3: But I heard that he had a like a celebration afterwards,
- 53:12Speaker 3: and somebody told me like, are you coming.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I'm like, wait, somebody a coworker, yeah.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Co worker, And I was like, I have not heard
- 53:17Speaker 3: of this.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Oh it's awkward.
- 53:20Speaker 3: And I feel like read probably went. Did you go?
- 53:22Speaker 6: Read you didn't go?
- 53:23Speaker 7: Dude, did you go?
- 53:24Speaker 6: I didn't go?
- 53:25Speaker 2: Did you get invited? No?
- 53:26Speaker 6: No?
- 53:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's a coworker here. Yeah that went?
- 53:30Speaker 3: That went? He's like, oh yeah, yeah, Like it's just
- 53:33Speaker 3: he said, it's just kind of a small get together.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Well that sounds like something we would go to.
- 53:38Speaker 2: I'm starting to think we're not as good a friends
- 53:40Speaker 2: with Kevin as we think.
- 53:41Speaker 3: No, And I'm not one of like get my feelings
- 53:45Speaker 3: hurt whatever, but like when that coworker told me, I'm like,
- 53:48Speaker 3: my feelings are hurt.
- 53:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't have gone. I would like to have been invited. Yeah, yeah,
- 53:53Speaker 2: that's my thing. But like I try to include Kevin
- 53:56Speaker 2: and like all the friend stuff, like maybe maybe we're
- 53:58Speaker 2: just not close friends. Who's the coworker? M kitty, what
- 54:04Speaker 2: that's not He's not even part of like the court group.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Not even part of the circle.
- 54:08Speaker 2: I was like.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Even that, Yeah him and him and took super Bowl.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I know. Did you get you didn't hear
- 54:16Speaker 3: anything about it?
- 54:17Speaker 6: I know I heard nothing about it.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 54:20Speaker 6: I know. The wedding was in Franklin, Franklin.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Door to read I can see from this back.
- 54:31Speaker 6: No, it was small. I get it. You know, I'm
- 54:33Speaker 6: going on.
- 54:34Speaker 3: I completely. It's like when I got married. I got
- 54:37Speaker 3: married in Hawaii and my my parents, her parents, her brothers,
- 54:40Speaker 3: her sisters, my brother and sister went and that was it.
- 54:43Speaker 3: And then when we got back then we're like, hey,
- 54:46Speaker 3: we're having a party for everyone. Now, let's come celebrate
- 54:49Speaker 3: our marriage. And so I understand the wedding you want
- 54:51Speaker 3: to keep a private, no big deal, but having a
- 54:54Speaker 3: party afterwards, and we didn't get invited.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough one, A little hurt I can feel.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Then, Yeah, I.
- 55:01Speaker 6: Got invited to his baptism though I didn't. Oh some
- 55:06Speaker 6: of us did. Like I could easily sold his ticket
- 55:07Speaker 6: and made four thousand dollars.
- 55:09Speaker 2: I gotta shipt him back. I didn't have to take
- 55:12Speaker 2: you guys to the super Bowl. Oh that I realized
- 55:15Speaker 2: that that wasn't even like this show. It was like,
- 55:17Speaker 2: take your friends, we'll give you four tickets as in
- 55:19Speaker 2: my contract. I negotiated, And that was awesome. Taking Casey now, yeah, man,
- 55:22Speaker 2: in Casey was the last one in. He's never been
- 55:24Speaker 2: here long enough.
- 55:25Speaker 3: I would have played connect for it.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Whatever, man. Yeah, So we'll.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Give him a hard time when he gets back. If
- 55:31Speaker 3: he gets back.
- 55:32Speaker 2: I may not because I may be too hurt to
- 55:34Speaker 2: actually right now. Because if you ever hear me giving
- 55:38Speaker 2: someone a hard time, like on the air, we're talking
- 55:39Speaker 2: about something, it's because it really I've either gotten over
- 55:41Speaker 2: the fact that it affects me, or it never really
- 55:43Speaker 2: affected me and we can just poke at it. It's
- 55:45Speaker 2: why we make fun of each other so much on
- 55:47Speaker 2: the Bybone Show or even this show, because it doesn't matter,
- 55:49Speaker 2: like if we're talking about it or making fun of
- 55:51Speaker 2: each other, it's fine. The only times when lunch box
- 55:53Speaker 2: like goes rage box. Other than that, that's never fun.
- 55:55Speaker 3: That's not ever for anyone.
- 55:56Speaker 2: That's never fine. Other than that, it's a fun of
- 56:00Speaker 2: all the time. Man, part of red. You're not a victim,
- 56:02Speaker 2: but right, I love it? How about that? Well, good
- 56:06Speaker 2: luck Kevin your marriage? Hey Mike, Yeah, I didn't start
- 56:12Speaker 2: with this, but so an update on the pickleball Bobby
- 56:15Speaker 2: versus a troll matchup. I need a lawyer. A lawyer up, No,
- 56:21Speaker 2: I need so. I don't want to get scammed for
- 56:23Speaker 2: the money. Okay, there are too many scams out there.
- 56:28Speaker 2: I need a lawyer to create a called yes, thank you.
- 56:38Speaker 2: This is like dang, like when you buy a house
- 56:40Speaker 2: and then we both put money in the account. But
- 56:44Speaker 2: the thing is, if you were like, my lawyer will
- 56:45Speaker 2: do it, I'd be like, I don't trust you, I
- 56:47Speaker 2: don't know you a neutral lawyer, but I'm a public figure.
- 56:51Speaker 2: I feel like it'd be safer to do it with
- 56:52Speaker 2: like a lawyer for me, because he could just get
- 56:54Speaker 2: on social media be like this dude stole a thousand
- 56:56Speaker 2: bucks from me.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Can we just get morgan and Morgan?
- 57:00Speaker 2: I don't want to pay anybody.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Those for the people.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Man, Well, someone worked pro bono. They create an escrow
- 57:06Speaker 2: so I can go play pickleball against this guy in Ohio,
- 57:09Speaker 2: this troll four year d one athlete. But I'm willing
- 57:12Speaker 2: to take that chance. I'm willing to take down a troll.
- 57:14Speaker 2: You are, but I need someone to hold the money
- 57:18Speaker 2: or I can't do it because I'm still in I
- 57:19Speaker 2: want to do it. I just don't want to get
- 57:21Speaker 2: scammed up a thousand bucks.
- 57:22Speaker 6: You couldn't just write up a contract either and have
- 57:24Speaker 6: him sign it and have someone witness the signing that
- 57:27Speaker 6: he's gonna pay.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Are you a notary public. I mean, is that what
- 57:30Speaker 2: you're saying.
- 57:31Speaker 6: I just mean, like, instead of like him putting money
- 57:33Speaker 6: into an account, you putting money into an account.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I don't untrust it. What's it going to break it?
- 57:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna sue him.
- 57:38Speaker 6: Yeah that's true.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but like what like we have a lot here,
- 57:41Speaker 3: like we can't we can't steal a thousand dollars like
- 57:44Speaker 3: that would be bad.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I was saying, Yes, it would be
- 57:47Speaker 2: easier to go. I've created an scrow. Here's my thousand
- 57:50Speaker 2: bucks put years in. I'm a public figure that is
- 57:53Speaker 2: in a constant state of existing. I can't just go
- 57:57Speaker 2: away or it's gonna cost me way more than a
- 57:58Speaker 2: thousand bucks. If I were to run to Mexico with
- 58:00Speaker 2: thousand bucks.
- 58:00Speaker 3: You want me to do it? No, you don't want
- 58:02Speaker 3: me to hold the money. Nope, question though, like if
- 58:06Speaker 3: I did, I'm not gonna hold the money. But if
- 58:08Speaker 3: I did hold the money and you guys gave me
- 58:10Speaker 3: you gave me a thousand, dude, gave me a thousand,
- 58:13Speaker 3: and I had two thousand dollars in a random account.

- 58:18Speaker 2: Okay, two thousand, No, two million. Possibly. I think it's different.
- 58:25Speaker 2: It's like going into a casino and if you've kind
- 58:28Speaker 2: of been you know, blackballed, or and you're betting twenty
- 58:32Speaker 2: five bucks, they're probably not gonna say much. But you
- 58:36Speaker 2: start putting twenty five thousand bucks a hand down something
- 58:38Speaker 2: like that. Probably something or sports betting, you know, if
- 58:41Speaker 2: all of a sudden you never college baseball is not
- 58:43Speaker 2: bet on, and you go put ten grand on the
- 58:46Speaker 2: under Mississippi State. They're three pm Thursday games. Like, something's
- 58:50Speaker 2: up with that? Yeah, something up? Speaking of college sports,
- 58:55Speaker 2: the kid that plays for Frost and Pee watch them play.
- 58:57Speaker 3: Crazy dude, I'd never seen him before. He's got one arm.

- 59:03Speaker 2: he was in high school.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Oh, crazy, dude. He's so good. He gets rebounds, casey,
- 59:07Speaker 3: have you seen him? No, I'm not looking at him
- 59:08Speaker 3: right now, rebound battles.
- 59:11Speaker 2: He lost his left arm when he was younger, like
- 59:14Speaker 2: a wall collapsed on him. Oh really, and he's he's
- 59:17Speaker 2: really good alright.
- 59:18Speaker 3: He dribbles it well and he shoots him with one arm.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Was one handed? Yeah, that's pretty crazy. Like I had

- 59:37Speaker 3: Amazing one arm, dude, If I lost an arm, I'm done.

- 59:46Speaker 6: All right?
- 59:48Speaker 2: I think we're going.

- 59:57Speaker 2: to the left his right arm.
- 59:59Speaker 3: I like, how you think?
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: Keep it?
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: Keep it over here?
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I guess Travis Kelce, I think he's playing right, he says,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: coming back.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: He says he's not done yet.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: All right, good, So I mean I don't care.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: By the way, Nah, I had a feeling he'd be back.
