- 0:09Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome back to another episode of Bucco Territory,
- 0:13Speaker 1: presented to you by the Foul Territory Network of Noah Hyles,
- 0:15Speaker 1: joining me as always, ar my co host Josh Harrison, and
- 0:18Speaker 1: Platinum Key aka Mark. It's a Mailbag Wednesday where we
- 0:21Speaker 1: answer all of your Pirates related questions. We've got three
- 0:25Speaker 1: good ones, Mark, let's get into it. What's the first one?
- 0:28Speaker 2: All right? First question comes to us from Brian Davis,
- 0:31Speaker 2: who asks, please explain to me the use of Triolo
- 0:34Speaker 2: and right field. I just don't understand. His biggest asset
- 0:37Speaker 2: is his infield defense and you essentially throw that away
- 0:39Speaker 2: when you move him to right field. Please make it
- 0:41Speaker 2: make sense.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'll start with this. I guess the first question is
- 0:47Speaker 1: where do you play him in the infield? Right now?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Right like, you're not playing him over Spencer, you're not
- 0:53Speaker 1: definitely not planning him over Law, definitely not playing him
- 0:55Speaker 1: over Connor Griffin and Nick Gonzalez has earned himself the
- 0:59Speaker 1: right to be the every day third basement right now,
- 1:01Speaker 1: so when you look at it, his glove is still
- 1:04Speaker 1: valuable and honestly, I mean even I agree he's their
- 1:09Speaker 1: best probably defensive infielder. All around, he's still probably a
- 1:13Speaker 1: better defensive option in the outfield than almost everyone they
- 1:17Speaker 1: have to work with, aside from Mangum and now Garcia,
- 1:20Speaker 1: so and Cook, But like I would take Triolo over Cook.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So yeah, that's how I look at it. And I
- 1:27Speaker 1: think they made a point to basically just get him
- 1:30Speaker 1: reps to get him a look out there. I don't
- 1:32Speaker 1: know how much we're gonna see Jared Triolo in right
- 1:35Speaker 1: field moving forward. I think it's just like another spot
- 1:38Speaker 1: in his repertoire, Like it's just one of another many
- 1:42Speaker 1: positions that he can play which makes him more valuable.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I don't see anything wrong with it as long as
- 1:46Speaker 1: he's not there.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Every day, right And I think it was just the
- 1:49Speaker 2: Pirates had their hands forced by Ohuran going to the
- 1:52Speaker 2: al and they didn't want to make a move to
- 1:55Speaker 2: really fill in that outfield whole that series until now
- 1:59Speaker 2: we have the oftename. Uh start the series Tuesday with
- 2:03Speaker 2: whoever is in that spot, and we found out that's
- 2:06Speaker 2: going to be just Stinton Garcia the password. So excited
- 2:11Speaker 2: to see him. But yeah, I mean I don't really
- 2:13Speaker 2: have too much of an issue with Triolo getting thrown
- 2:16Speaker 2: in there in a tough spot like that, especially when
- 2:20Speaker 2: it's hard to get his bat in the lineup right
- 2:22Speaker 2: now with everyone else playing well in the infield, so
- 2:26Speaker 2: get some reps out there. He'd only played one inning
- 2:28Speaker 2: before that, so now he's I think he finished out
- 2:32Speaker 2: both games, so he's he's got nineteen total innings now
- 2:35Speaker 2: in right field. So definitely totally comfortable now. But yeah, no,
- 2:40Speaker 2: it was. I didn't have too much of an issue
- 2:42Speaker 2: with it.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Josh. I want to ask you because you you came
- 2:45Speaker 1: up as an infielder, but they played you in the
- 2:47Speaker 1: corner outfield, especially in fourteen. That's kind of where you
- 2:50Speaker 1: got your first break, right, was in right Fieldmory my memory.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Right on these Oh yeah, yeah, I mean yeah, came up,
- 2:58Speaker 3: played a little bit everywhere, but yeah, I was out
- 3:00Speaker 3: in the outfield quite a bit. I think left right, Yeah, third,
- 3:05Speaker 3: short and second, But I mean I was corner outfield
- 3:08Speaker 3: quite a bit. But I don't know too much of
- 3:11Speaker 3: Jared's background, but that was also in my background college.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I also played outfield. I also played third, short and second.
- 3:19Speaker 3: So when I was drafted by the Cubs, I was
- 3:22Speaker 3: playing low a ball. I was I played more. I
- 3:25Speaker 3: was drafted at second base, but I played more left
- 3:27Speaker 3: field than second, more second than third, And I don't
- 3:30Speaker 3: know if that's the case where you look at Triola
- 3:32Speaker 3: and maybe he's done outfield in the past, but everybody
- 3:34Speaker 3: else that's in the infield, with the exception of Connor,
- 3:39Speaker 3: you know, you're looking like Triolo is probably the best
- 3:42Speaker 3: fit or the odd man out of the infield that
- 3:45Speaker 3: you know, go to outfield. And at the same time,
- 3:47Speaker 3: it's not a discredit to his defense, because we obviously
- 3:50Speaker 3: know he is the best, you know, probably third best,
- 3:54Speaker 3: you know, third basement defender. But at the same time,
- 3:56Speaker 3: you know he's he was a utility guy that bounced around,
- 3:59Speaker 3: so he is familiar with going from position to position,
- 4:02Speaker 3: and this is just another position that, as you said,
- 4:05Speaker 3: in the crowded line up, a crowded infield, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: find a way to get his bat and line up
- 4:10Speaker 3: when you know when he has an opportunity, and that's
- 4:13Speaker 3: you know, sometimes away the game. And as you said, Nick,
- 4:16Speaker 3: I mean, Noah, Nick, you know has done everything to
- 4:20Speaker 3: you know, earn you know, not losing that starting third
- 4:23Speaker 3: base spot because when he filled in, you know, he
- 4:26Speaker 3: did pretty much more than what they could have asked for.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'll also add this before we wrap up this question,
- 4:32Speaker 1: if Triolo can be like your last outfielder on the
- 4:35Speaker 1: bench in addition to being your last infielder, Like there's
- 4:39Speaker 1: I mean, that's tough for Billy Cook, but it's like
- 4:42Speaker 1: you don't need to roster Billy Cook anymore when everyone's healthy,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and that creates a permanent spot for Garcia, or it
- 4:49Speaker 1: adds to your calculus when you're looking to add to
- 4:51Speaker 1: this roster at the deadline, it's like all right, Like
- 4:53Speaker 1: like say Garcia struggles and needs to get sent down,
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's like, all right, well we can go get another
- 4:59Speaker 1: guy because like we don't we don't need an extra
- 5:02Speaker 1: defensive outfielder because we could put Mangam in center and
- 5:05Speaker 1: then Triolo can play on a corner when you make
- 5:08Speaker 1: your late game subs. So I and I and again,
- 5:11Speaker 1: like I I think Triolo like he's going to be
- 5:14Speaker 1: a good defensive outfielder just because that's he's a good
- 5:17Speaker 1: out he's a good defender and he has yes, he
- 5:22Speaker 1: gets good reads off the ball, and like that's that's
- 5:25Speaker 1: the test of a true utility man to me is
- 5:27Speaker 1: if can you play on the corners can you read
- 5:29Speaker 1: the spin? And if you can do that, like you
- 5:31Speaker 1: if you can play really good third base, I think
- 5:35Speaker 1: you can handle right field in most cases, especially if
- 5:37Speaker 1: you have the athletic build that Triolo does, Like he
- 5:40Speaker 1: can cover a lot of ground, he has a good arm,
- 5:43Speaker 1: he's tall, he's fast, so I I think he will
- 5:46Speaker 1: be I think he will be a It just makes
- 5:48Speaker 1: the team better. I think to have him, have him
- 5:50Speaker 1: add that club to his bag again, as long as
- 5:53Speaker 1: it's not taking away playing time from people who are
- 5:57Speaker 1: more productive in the lineup.
- 5:59Speaker 2: So yeah, if it was over the password, I might
- 6:02Speaker 2: have a problem with it. But yeah, he's starting over
- 6:04Speaker 2: Billy Cook. I'm totally finals.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That's fine. Yeah, So all right, we're gonna take a
- 6:09Speaker 1: quick break, and then another question.
- 6:13Speaker 4: We love our dog Bella, who splays out in the
- 6:15Speaker 4: open sun on our floor like she's an underwear model.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And that's why we love her so much. To scratch
- 6:21Speaker 3: her belly.
- 6:23Speaker 4: She's a cutie, that Bella. And a quick message from

- 7:12Speaker 4: of insurance.
- 7:15Speaker 1: All right, Mark, second question, all right.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Next question comes to us from bird Takes, who asks
- 7:20Speaker 2: what's more likely for Bubba Chandler get sent down or
- 7:23Speaker 2: goes to the bullpen?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Man, I'll start again here, Oh Josh, yeah, okay, I'll start.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I don't see how you can do either, just because
- 7:38Speaker 1: his problems don't get fixed in the bullpen like he's
- 7:43Speaker 1: overthrowing right now and It's like if you if your
- 7:46Speaker 1: problem is you're walking too many guys, putting you in
- 7:49Speaker 1: a situation where you only have one inning to get
- 7:52Speaker 1: right is not going to fix anything. And I don't
- 7:56Speaker 1: think they can afford to option. I just they need
- 7:59Speaker 1: they need someone with the ability to cover innings and
- 8:02Speaker 1: he hasn't been doing that. But I just don't see
- 8:06Speaker 1: how you can move him down, and it's just gonna
- 8:09Speaker 1: put more stress on the bullpen. So like they they're
- 8:12Speaker 1: kind of stuck with him and having to figure that out.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And again, like I just want to remind everyone, like
- 8:18Speaker 1: all not all he is. He's a lot more than this,
- 8:21Speaker 1: but like right now, all his rule is is a
- 8:23Speaker 1: fifth starter. And for most teams, fifth starters put up
- 8:28Speaker 1: numbers like he's putting up. I mean they struggle sometimes,
- 8:31Speaker 1: and he's a young fifth starter and he's overall not
- 8:35Speaker 1: hurting the rotation terribly, So I mean, yeah, he needs
- 8:40Speaker 1: to get better. And if this continues, like if this
- 8:42Speaker 1: is happening in June or July, then you're getting to
- 8:46Speaker 1: the point where it's like, yeah, maybe you look for
- 8:49Speaker 1: a trade and then you figure out something else with Bubba.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Maybe he's a piggyback option with Jones or what was
- 8:56Speaker 1: like I say, Majinski or somebody else. But right now, man,
- 8:59Speaker 1: like I think you you don't have the choice, Like
- 9:01Speaker 1: you've got to let him keep working on this right now?
- 9:03Speaker 2: I think, yeah, No, I agree, Go ahead, Josh.
- 9:07Speaker 3: No, I was gonna say I agree, because who do
- 9:10Speaker 3: you pivot to, especially you know you already got. You know,
- 9:14Speaker 3: Jared Jones is on ile, working his way back, you know,
- 9:19Speaker 3: and you mentioned a starting rotation. He's gonna look like
- 9:23Speaker 3: a little bit of a sore thumb when you mentioned
- 9:25Speaker 3: the likes of Paul Skins and Mitch Keller, you know,
- 9:27Speaker 3: leading the charge, so his numbers are obviously gonna be
- 9:31Speaker 3: skewed or you know, viewed a little bit differently just
- 9:34Speaker 3: based off of who's leading the charge for the starting rotation.
- 9:37Speaker 3: But as you mentioned, it's it's something that needs to
- 9:41Speaker 3: be fixed. And I don't know if it's really anything
- 9:44Speaker 3: that moving him to the pen is gonna fix. I
- 9:46Speaker 3: don't even know if sending him down right now will
- 9:48Speaker 3: fix it, because as you mentioned, you need him. So
- 9:52Speaker 3: it's something that they have to fine tune, maybe in
- 9:54Speaker 3: between the starts, and you mentioned overthrowing what's the reason
- 9:59Speaker 3: for is overthrowing? You have you have good things. You know,
- 10:01Speaker 3: you got good stuff. These are things that they need
- 10:03Speaker 3: to identify as he you know, disconnected with his lower half.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You know, I'm not a pitching coachs, but typically when
- 10:10Speaker 3: guys are walking, there's something that is leading a guy
- 10:13Speaker 3: to you know, not throwing strikes. And ultimately, it's not
- 10:17Speaker 3: just Bubba's issue, you know, it's ultimately you know, kind
- 10:20Speaker 3: of the game that we're in, you know, stuff versus
- 10:24Speaker 3: you know, location or control. And ultimately, sometimes when you
- 10:30Speaker 3: have a lot of guys that are hard throwers, and
- 10:32Speaker 3: you know, with exceptional stuff, sometimes you're gonna have a
- 10:36Speaker 3: lack of control, especially if you weren't taught that, you know,
- 10:39Speaker 3: at an early age. So sometimes he's growing curve, growing
- 10:43Speaker 3: experiences and you know, you have one start where you
- 10:46Speaker 3: go six innings and you deal, but then you come
- 10:49Speaker 3: back and you can't get through the fourth. You know,
- 10:52Speaker 3: those are growing experiences. And I can just remember von
- 10:55Speaker 3: Nova when we were with the Pirates. He said, when
- 10:57Speaker 3: he was with the Yankees, he was throwing hard ninety six,
- 11:00Speaker 3: ninety eight, and you know what, making it past the
- 11:03Speaker 3: fourth or fifth inning and this might be something that
- 11:05Speaker 3: Bubba's thinking. You know, it took like you know, ce
- 11:07Speaker 3: Ceza bath Ye or somebody sitting down and be like, man,
- 11:10Speaker 3: what are you doing? He's like, man, I gotta go
- 11:12Speaker 3: seven innings And he's like, nah, we don't need you to.
- 11:15Speaker 3: He said, leave that to me, leave that to A. J. Burnett.
- 11:18Speaker 3: He said, we need you to go and cover five
- 11:19Speaker 3: or six, you know, save your you know, if you
- 11:22Speaker 3: throw't you don't need to throw ninety eight. Learn to
- 11:24Speaker 3: save the ninety eight. And that's not telling Bubba learn
- 11:27Speaker 3: to say one O one, one O two, because he's
- 11:29Speaker 3: probably got those loaded and ready, but learn to control
- 11:32Speaker 3: ninety seven ninety eight. You know that's still hard enough
- 11:35Speaker 3: to hit. But you know those are going to be
- 11:37Speaker 3: moments that got to be fine tuned and fine tweet
- 11:40Speaker 3: you know, with just individual and you know, intuition, but
- 11:44Speaker 3: also getting with the pitcher coach and making sure. But
- 11:47Speaker 3: it's all learning things that I don't really think right
- 11:49Speaker 3: now is going to do him any good, as you mentioned,
- 11:51Speaker 3: sending them down or send him to the pen.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, And I just want to remind everyone that it's
- 11:57Speaker 2: not just this year that Bubba Chandler is going to
- 11:59Speaker 2: be important as a piece of the Pirates plan. He's
- 12:03Speaker 2: still a rookie, you know, and this guy is going
- 12:05Speaker 2: to be a big piece of the Pirate's rotation for
- 12:08Speaker 2: the next few years. So if it takes some growing
- 12:12Speaker 2: pains this first year where he's really starting and learning
- 12:16Speaker 2: how to be an MLB starting pitcher that throws one
- 12:18Speaker 2: hundred and fifty plus innings, You'll take that this year
- 12:22Speaker 2: and just know that I trust that Bubba's gonna learn
- 12:26Speaker 2: from all these like tough outings and improve and figure
- 12:29Speaker 2: out what works what doesn't and become a big piece
- 12:33Speaker 2: of this rotation moving forward. And if it's a struggle
- 12:36Speaker 2: this year, I'm completely fine accepting that. If that means
- 12:40Speaker 2: that the final half of his contract with the Pirates
- 12:44Speaker 2: is really really dominant. And we saw that with Mitch Keller,
- 12:47Speaker 2: where you know, Mitch Keller really struggled early on and
- 12:51Speaker 2: he was one of the worst pictures in MLB. Now
- 12:53Speaker 2: he's mister consistent. You know, Chad innings E your picture
- 12:57Speaker 2: out there who you can just throw out, count on
- 12:59Speaker 2: and get six out of him every day. So No,
- 13:02Speaker 2: I saw you looking up some stats.
- 13:04Speaker 1: What you got, Well, No, I was looking up something.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I remember a conversation I had with Bubba, and it's
- 13:09Speaker 1: actually very applicable to what he's going through now.
- 13:12Speaker 3: So I.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Remember going to Indianapolis and talking with Bubba in would
- 13:17Speaker 1: have been twenty four right before, yeah, right after he
- 13:21Speaker 1: got promoted to Triple A, and I kind of talked
- 13:23Speaker 1: about how at that point in time, like he was
- 13:25Speaker 1: doing nothing wrong, Like he dominated Double A, got moved
- 13:28Speaker 1: up to Triple A, he was cooking in Triple A.
- 13:31Speaker 1: There were even murmurs like he could if the Pirates
- 13:34Speaker 1: were in contention in September, he could have worked his
- 13:36Speaker 1: way on to be like a relief option. But I
- 13:41Speaker 1: A big part in Bubba's journey is in twenty twenty
- 13:45Speaker 1: two or twenty twenty three.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He started the year in high at Greensboro, and all
- 13:50Speaker 1: of his friends in their rotation were shoving, and they're
- 13:52Speaker 1: all getting promoted and he and he's stunk. In his
- 13:55Speaker 1: first sixteen starts with Greensboro, he went three and three
- 13:59Speaker 1: with a six A. Opposing hitters were batting three to
- 14:02Speaker 1: eighteen against him at the All Star break. In this quote,
- 14:06Speaker 1: he gave me stuck out, and that's why I wanted
- 14:08Speaker 1: to look up this article. He said, I went through
- 14:11Speaker 1: a lot of sucking. I sucked a lot last year.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I sucked a lot in twenty twenty two, hitting wise,
- 14:16Speaker 1: pitching wise, I was pretty good, really just thinking about
- 14:19Speaker 1: how not to suck. When I do suck, I have
- 14:22Speaker 1: to realize what's bad about it, Jot it down and say,
- 14:25Speaker 1: figure it out, what I have to do to make
- 14:26Speaker 1: sure those things won't happen again. And if you look
- 14:29Speaker 1: at it after the All Star Break in twenty twenty three,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it clicked. He was beating himself up. He was comparing
- 14:36Speaker 1: himself to others in that rotation, a guy like Anthony Solamida,
- 14:39Speaker 1: who had already made his way onto the top one
- 14:41Speaker 1: hundred prospect list. He got a double A promotion before him,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Jared Jones was ahead of the curve, all these other guys,
- 14:46Speaker 1: Braxton Ashcraft. So when Bubba started just working on himself
- 14:49Speaker 1: and making adjustments after the All Star break in twenty
- 14:51Speaker 1: twenty three, he went seven to one with a one
- 14:53Speaker 1: to sixty six ERA in his next nine starts. He
- 14:57Speaker 1: ended up ending his season in Altoona, and yeah, he
- 15:01Speaker 1: posted career bests and innings pitch walks per nine innings
- 15:05Speaker 1: and strike out to walk ratio the next year in
- 15:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, So like this is just got to
- 15:11Speaker 1: happen again. And that's part of development. And another part
- 15:14Speaker 1: of development, right, and Josh can attest to this. Another
- 15:18Speaker 1: part of development is failure, Like we didn't see that
- 15:21Speaker 1: with Paul Schemes, and that's a rarity, Like he fails
- 15:25Speaker 1: two or three times a year, and some of those
- 15:28Speaker 1: times aren't even his fault. But like for most rookies,
- 15:32Speaker 1: like we saw it with Connor who struggled playing the
- 15:35Speaker 1: first couple weeks in the season and then he needed
- 15:37Speaker 1: to get his feet wet, like Pete Rose I think
- 15:39Speaker 1: started like over twenty five or something in his major
- 15:42Speaker 1: league career. I mean, there are plenty of great Tyler Glass.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Now look at all the struggles that he went through
- 15:47Speaker 1: in the beginning of his career, and you can blame
- 15:50Speaker 1: whoever for all of these individual woes. But what my
- 15:54Speaker 1: point is is, like development, part of that equation is
- 15:58Speaker 1: failure because you know, unless you're unless you're Paul Skins
- 16:03Speaker 1: and you just dominate everyone from the moment you arrive,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you need to learn what you're doing wrong to do
- 16:07Speaker 1: it right, and and that's what's happening right now. And
- 16:11Speaker 1: if you yeah, if you cut him loose after less
- 16:15Speaker 1: than fifty games into the season, I don't know what
- 16:19Speaker 1: that does to him, especially you got like Bubba Chandler
- 16:20Speaker 1: who you could see like he's an emotional player, like
- 16:23Speaker 1: he gets fired up and probably it allows him to
- 16:26Speaker 1: impact it. You've got to let him grow through this.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I think it's best for your team this year and long.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Term definitely, and un keep him around Paula, Mitch. You
- 16:39Speaker 3: got those guys.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Facing MBU for sure. All right. Next question comes to
- 16:46Speaker 2: us from Matthew Ware who asks chances they reacquire Falter
- 16:50Speaker 2: or another lefty starter. I know Jones is coming back,
- 16:52Speaker 2: but Ashcraft, Bubba Seamlid or Carmen Macinski uh would seem
- 16:57Speaker 2: to be on Indian's limits.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, Well, I was just saying
- 17:04Speaker 3: as far as the left, he don't don't think that Barco, yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 3: I I mean, I don't really know how much of
- 17:11Speaker 3: a starter. I know he's starting to pin this year.
- 17:13Speaker 3: They's him down a triple A. I don't know how
- 17:18Speaker 3: confident you know that that they would feel if they
- 17:21Speaker 3: really need a left handed starter. But if he's you know,
- 17:24Speaker 3: down their pitching well, and they plan to use him
- 17:27Speaker 3: I think, I mean, y'all would't know better than me
- 17:30Speaker 3: what they I think they were planning to use before
- 17:32Speaker 3: they go trade somebody, because who are you trading?
- 17:37Speaker 1: You don't need a left handed starter, you just need
- 17:40Speaker 1: five good ones, Like who cares what side? I mean
- 17:43Speaker 1: like theoretically, yeah, like left soft tossing lefties have metrically
- 17:48Speaker 1: always performed well at PNC Park, by the way the
- 17:50Speaker 1: stadiums built. They're beneficial, especially guys.
- 17:55Speaker 3: A lot of in the lineup. And yeah, exactly, but
- 17:59Speaker 3: I mean in today's game, where everything is a matchup,
- 18:02Speaker 3: I mean, the lineup is going to be flipped in,
- 18:04Speaker 3: switched by sixth inning anyway. So if it's not really beneficial,
- 18:08Speaker 3: as you said to where it's really making a difference,
- 18:11Speaker 3: you might as well, Hey, if you've got a fifth starter,
- 18:13Speaker 3: that's right, that's fine. It's not really swinging in one
- 18:16Speaker 3: way or the other because a lot of teams are
- 18:18Speaker 3: doing matchups by the time that bullpen comes in anyway.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and especially when you have three lefties already in
- 18:24Speaker 2: this bullpen with Sisk, Montgomery and Sodo, yep, it kind
- 18:28Speaker 2: of negates a lot of that need for a lefty starter,
- 18:31Speaker 2: so well, and you can use.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Well, that's just what I was about to say. They
- 18:36Speaker 3: used him as an opener, so there it was left starter. Yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 3: but and then they use them back to back when
- 18:43Speaker 3: right they changed the lineup, so that right there was
- 18:46Speaker 3: almost like them playing the matchup game. I'm not a
- 18:49Speaker 3: big fan of the opener all the time, but obviously
- 18:52Speaker 3: when you got the roster makeup and you got injuries
- 18:55Speaker 3: and you got to get creative, like it makes sense.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And I mean this showed the other day they were
- 19:00Speaker 3: able to have a two winning left handed starter or
- 19:02Speaker 3: just two different types. And I mean, if that's going
- 19:06Speaker 3: to be able to get you out of pinch, I'm
- 19:08Speaker 3: with you, guys, like you don't necessarily need that left
- 19:11Speaker 3: handed starter because Montgomery was that opener that pretty much
- 19:15Speaker 3: made them change their whole game play.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and just like what we were talking about with
- 19:18Speaker 2: Jones coming back, this rotation doesn't really have a hole.
- 19:22Speaker 2: So it's like, I mean, if you trade for someone, maybe,
- 19:25Speaker 2: but like you're not going to find a waiver claim,
- 19:28Speaker 2: who's gonna.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Be that's worth adding?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's worth that rotation. So yeah, I don't foresee it.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I think Barco would be probably the most likely, just
- 19:37Speaker 2: because it's the easiest internal option. But I don't think
- 19:40Speaker 2: you see him unless there's an injury.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I mean, and again, like if like I'm just this
- 19:46Speaker 1: is the first name that came to my mind because
- 19:47Speaker 1: he was a free agent last year, but like it's
- 19:48Speaker 1: ay from Rivaldez becomes available or something like you're adding
- 19:52Speaker 1: him because he's not because he's a left right like
- 19:57Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think when you're when you're lefty
- 20:00Speaker 1: shopping or like specific shopping. I think, especially for your rotation,
- 20:04Speaker 1: especially for this rotation, you don't need to get too
- 20:07Speaker 1: cute with the specifics because I mean, at the very least,
- 20:11Speaker 1: like you're you're adding a number five starter because with Paul,
- 20:16Speaker 1: Mitch and Braxton, like no one's replacing one of them
- 20:19Speaker 1: in the top three. And then you've got some combo
- 20:23Speaker 1: of Bubba, Jared, Barco and Carmen filling out that number
- 20:28Speaker 1: four spot if that number if not that number five spot. Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 1: So if you want to get like along, like say
- 20:34Speaker 1: Bubba can't cover the innings, like we just talked about
- 20:35Speaker 1: in the last question, Like say Bubba just can't keep
- 20:38Speaker 1: going deep. Yeah, you need an innings eater to be
- 20:41Speaker 1: your number five starter, and if that's a lefty, that's great,
- 20:43Speaker 1: But like I don't think that it has to be
- 20:46Speaker 1: a lefty necessarily.
- 20:48Speaker 3: You got to be somebody that can eat cor exactly.
- 20:51Speaker 1: So all right, guys, any final thoughts before we wrap
- 20:54Speaker 1: up another show.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I just please repay the favor to the Cardinals and
- 21:00Speaker 2: with them in Saint Louis would love to see that.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I feel like there's a big chance, a big inflection
- 21:06Speaker 2: point with the season right now. One game over five hundred,
- 21:10Speaker 2: so let's stay over five hundred and now let the
- 21:12Speaker 2: wheels come off.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Yeah, as I said the other day, right the ship,
- 21:17Speaker 3: and it'll be cool to see Password if he's believe
- 21:22Speaker 3: right coming up so o'hearne will be down, So to
- 21:26Speaker 3: be cool to see you know Password or mangam who's
- 21:28Speaker 3: there for going to step up? This is a you know,
- 21:30Speaker 3: nice series to you know, as I said, get on
