- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and here with me is Luna. Luna: Hej! I'm ready for another shopping trip. But I feel like we've been to every store in Sweden. Lucas: Almost! But today we're going somewhere new – a newsstand. You know, a kiosk where you can buy magazines, newspapers, snacks. Luna: Oh, a kiosk! I love browsing the magazine racks. Let's learn how to buy a magazine. Lucas: Perfect. The first phrase is: Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. That means 'I would like to have a magazine.' Let's say it together. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. Lucas: Good! Now, if you want a magazine in a specific language, you can ask: Har ni någon på svenska? – 'Do you have one in Swedish?' Luna: Har ni någon på svenska? That's useful. What if I'm looking for a sports magazine? Lucas: Then you can say: Finns det någon sporttidning? – 'Is there a sports magazine?' Try it. Luna: Finns det någon sporttidning? Finns det... that's 'is there', right? Lucas: Exactly. Now, when you've found one, ask the price: Hur mycket kostar den? – 'How much does it cost?' Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? And if I want to buy it, I say: Jag tar den, tack. Lucas: Perfect, 'I'll take it, thanks.' Let's run through all five phrases. Repeat after me: Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. Lucas: Har ni någon på svenska? Luna: Har ni någon på svenska? Lucas: Finns det någon sporttidning? Luna: Finns det någon sporttidning? Lucas: Hur mycket kostar den? Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? Lucas: Jag tar den, tack. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Nailed it. Lucas: Now let's put it together in a mini conversation. I'll be the shopkeeper. You're at the kiosk. Go ahead. Luna: Hej! Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. Lucas: Hej! Har ni någon på svenska? Luna: Ooh, yes. Finns det någon sporttidning? Lucas: Ja, här är en. Hur mycket kostar den? Den kostar 40 kronor. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Very smooth. I felt like a real customer. Lucas: You did great. And you know, it's amazing how far these simple phrases take you. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Swedish, we want you to know that this show is ad-free and listener-funded. Luna: Yeah, it's totally optional, but if you find these lessons useful, it's a great way to keep them coming. And we really appreciate it. Lucas: So, back to the kiosk. What if you want a fashion magazine? You could say: Finns det någon modetidning? – 'Is there a fashion magazine?' Luna: Finns det någon modetidning? That's handy. I could buy one for my sister. Lucas: Exactly. Or a cooking magazine: matlagningstidning. But let's not get too advanced. Let's review once more. I'll say the English, you say the Swedish. Luna: Deal. Lucas: I would like to have a magazine. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en tidning. Lucas: Do you have one in Swedish? Luna: Har ni någon på svenska? Lucas: Is there a sports magazine? Luna: Finns det någon sporttidning? Lucas: How much does it cost? Luna: Hur mycket kostar den? Lucas: I'll take it, thanks. Luna: Jag tar den, tack. Lucas: Perfect. Now you're ready to buy a magazine at any Swedish kiosk. Practice these phrases, and next time we'll maybe try buying a lottery ticket or a bus card. Luna: Sounds fun. See you next time! Hej då!
